Good food and a very friendly staff. I took some friends that were visiting from out of town and was not disappointed.

Delicious food from a fun Mom & Pop establishment. Found the food to be full of amazing flavors and the staff (owner) was extremely nice. Highly recommend it and wish them lots of success. The decor could use some updating but for a start up it is all about the food. Will keep supporting them.

I absolutely love this place. The falafel is extremely flavorful and the price is right. Their falafel sandwich is an excellent size and supplementing it with a piece of baklava really completes the meal. I'm telling you, try the baklava. The serving size is quite small, just a few bites, but the flavor is unparalleled. I come once a week and it never fails to lift my spirits. I haven't had any encounters with poor service or slow/mistaken orders, in fact, my orders have always come out exceptionally fast. I can't speak for anyone else, but I love this as a quick lunch option.

I really was not impressed with the food or the service at this establishment. I'm not sure if they were just busy or what but either way I will never be back.

After recently having moved to Denver from San Diego, Golden Pita is the first truly awful restaurant that I've eaten at up here. A couple hours ago, my buddy and I tried it for lunch. He ordered a chicken shawarma, and I ordered a beef shawarma. The chicken on his sandwich was literally unrecognizable as chicken. No clue what that protein was. He actually asked them "what is this?" our waiter said "it's chicken, I think... no... yea... it's definitely chicken. It's delicious". It looked like pork (maybe?), definitely a mix of fat or cartridge, mostly raw. My beef shawarma was tiny and bland. You could tell everything was microwaved, definitely the pita, as it was really rubbery. The tzatziki sauce was as runny as a tiny glass of water. It was essentially water + ranch dressing + a touch of dill. That said, my sandwich was edible, unlike my buddies, although I regret eating it, as food poisoning is rapidly approaching. My buddy took one bite and pushed his unedible chicken shawarma aside. When we got the bill our waiter asked if he didn't like it, my buddy explained most of what I described above. Waiter said "ah, sorry". No offer to not charge for the sandwich.

Maybe people didn't show up for work, but it was only one man and one woman running the whole place...and the service suffered. Nice guy but old dishes were literally on every table. I moved dishes to sit down at my table. He is trying his best, but it's really a mood killer when you walk in and just know that your table is not clean. Are the dishes, forks, cups, who knows? He was so rushed that all the orders I saw coming out were wrong to some level. Food was pretty good though, and that's what saved this review from being 1 or 2 stars. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and try it again since it's close to work.

Bad food, small portions. Lentil soup was too watery and tasteless. Falafel platter contained five falafel patties and an at most ok salad. It also contained very little tahini which was too watery and too sour.

No complaints. Very Mom & Pop. Good environment for kids. Food was amazing. Fresh and delicious.

I highly recommend the Golden Pita. We walked in and the place was empty. Apparently we were early. The placed filled up shortly. We had a big table for 9 people and they handled us with no issues. I had the Syrian sausage which was excellent. The sides were nothing special - just rice and salad. The hummus was to die for. Creamy smooth and tasty. I'm not sure how many pitas I put away eating it but it was fantastic. We didn't try the deserts but they looked fantastic.

My husband and I are visiting from Los Angeles for a veterinary conference. We were walking through the 16th St mall assuming we would find something great. But it was getting late and we are vegan and began to get worried as we passed all the steakhouses and chain restaurants. My husband spotted this joint down the street and we rushed over knowing we would find something vegan friendly. The place was pretty empty for a Friday night at 9pm. We ordered the vegetable platter/plate and it was brought out to us very quickly. Dang it was just great. Seriously the best baba ganoush I have ever had. I usually don't even like baba ganoush, but this one was so perfect and smooth and creamy it made me completely ignore the hummus like an ex-girlfriend. We cleaned our plate (plenty for two people to share). Our bill was tiny and our bellies were full. We finished up with super mint tea- refreshing and just a little sweet. The server was kind and gave us our space. Citizens of Denver you are going to the wrong places for dinner Friday night.

The food here is epic. I ordered a vegetarian combo and it knocked my socks off. I have no idea what my husband ordered but it was meat and it was good. The service was fine, though a little on the slow side toward the end when we wanted to pay our check. We also sat outside and the table was a little dirty, and the music from the bar next door was loud. It was way worth it, though.

We were ecstatic to find out that they moved from Colorado & Evans to downtown. Now we have the best Middle Eastern good so close to us! The meat combo is good enough for two people but so awesome that you'll probably eat the whole thing. They also have the best hummus you've ever had. Smooth, creamy, and yummy! Can you give 6 stars? If so, I would give them ten stars!

We got an assortment of appetizers, including hummus, vegetable kebabs, mushroom kebabs, falafel, and lamb pie. Uniformly very well made, very well seasoned, and very good. Fast friendly service. Particularly good for the price.

So, let me start by saying when this place gets it right it is amazing. The problem is they tend to get it wrong more often than right. Here is my last visit to this place: Wrong meal, yes wrong dish. Substituted a meal without informing us. I called them out on it and then they admitted to it. He charged us the same price as the entree we ordered. Well the meal served was great, it wasn't what was asked for and I felt like it should have been discounted since it was swapped without explanation. So the chicken has been under cooked on three occasions. Yes, you would think I would have stopped ordering it, instead I just started making sure it was cooked. The chicken kabob is amazing and I really wanted to like this place. The reason food was under cooked this time was because they were rushing (so we were told). However, we were the only people in the restaurant. I do value they tried to get us our food quickly, but under cooked chicken can make for a bad time. I have given this place more chances than I should have, and I have to concede to the fact it is not consistent. I hope this place pulls it together, because the food can be amazing.

I will never go back there. Slow service and the food is so generic made with the cheapest store bought ingredients.

Not at all friendly, rude waiters. Most of what we order was not available. Food was okayish

I only went here since it's just a block away from my office. I had a Tabole salad & a Gyro sandwich. The salad was about a $5 and it is so small that you can literally finish it with two small bites and totally not worth it and it didn't taste good. The sandwich was just ok, too much garlic, and again very small. So I recommend try better things around the block. The owner who is also the waiter, super unfriendly, and he didn't care about the comment I made for the salad portion size.

This place is a great addition to the downtown Denver seen I always get great service, And the people that work here are warm and friendly and I highly suggest beef and lamb Shawarma

My boyfriend and I stopped in to grab a quick bite and were very impressed by the food and the service. The food blew me away - everything was delicious! We ordered the meat combo plate that came with rice, pita and hummus and the hummus is to die for. I got the beef schwarma sandwich and it was equally is good. Location is very convenient for anyone downtown and the service was great - he was very attentive. Will definitely be coming back!

I was in town for a convention. I travel for work about 300 days a year. I have eaten Mediterranian food from Montreal Canada to Dallas Texas, from Raliegh NC to San Diego CA. This was by far the worst I have had. I ordered lamb shawarma entree. The meat tasted microwaved and I know for a fact it was not freshly shaven off of a rotisserie. The rice was plain bland white rice no slivered pine nuts or almonds. The cucumber sauce was watered down and foamy, it looked like they added water and used an emulsion blender. The salad was iceberg lettuce chopped tomatoes and a tangy dressing. There was only two people working and a sign on the door that said help wanted. The only good thing was the pita bread and the hummus was on point. I read a review for here that said "best in Denver" Sorry Denverens...............

Savory, delicious, sumptuous, homemade, cozy atmosphere, reasonable prices. THE BEST homemade pitas ever - fresh, tender and poufy. They make chain Mediterranean pitas taste like cardboard. Subtly spiced meats, lovely lamb pie appetizer, baklava to die for. Somebody in that kitchen puts a lot of love and caring (and impeccable ingredients) into this food. It's hard to believe this place could get much better. No problems with poor service or wrong orders that I've ever had - it wasn't super fast but I did not expect the speed of a chain assembly line in a sit-down restaurant. I also didn't expect their food would be even more reasonably priced than a chain! This place is a find. I just hope it survives downtown and maintains its mom-and-pop charm.

The service was very slow. I ordered a kafta kebab sandwich. It came out cold. I was in a group of 7 people and after I got my food first, the rest of my table did not receive their food until almost 30 mins later. I also ordered stuffed grape leaves that were subpar at best. The owner (there were only two people working, so I'm making an assumption) was also very rude and spoke in a condescending tone. When in denver, eat anywhere else.

I decided to stop in here on a whim just to grab a sandwich with a friend. There are lots of very good classic Mediterranean options on the menu. Not overwhelmingly large but with enough options to satisfy anyone. We got some hummus which came out with some fresh pita. Really tasty. Not very thick hummus but it had good flavor. I got the falafel sandwich. The falafel was phenomenal but I found the slaw mix with it to be a little bland. Considering it cost less than $5 I'd consider it a home run. My friend had the lamb and beef sandwich and mentioned that the flavor was very good. The only reason I haven't given it five stars is because the only employees working were very caught up with family at the restaurant. We asked for a to-go-box twice but never received one. Not a big deal but a minor annoyance

Their hummus is delicious and their pitas are good also. I recommend the beef kabob and the beef and lamb shawarma. It's a great place to visit for lunch and reasonably priced.

HORRIBLE service! I had such high hopes for this place. The hummus was delicious, and so were the pita's. The server forgot our table was there, and everyone else was served their food and out the door way before we even got acknowledged. Once I did receive my food, it was completely wrong, then they tried to tell me they weren't going to charge me for the pita's that are supposed to come with the falafel plate!?!?! I had to argue with her about it. She should know the menu!!! Why did I have to tell her this?! Not only that, but I still didn't get my food until an hour later!! Instead of giving me my food for free (because I had to wait an hour and return two plates of incorrect food) they tell me they're going to make me only pay half! How sweet of them!

  • Jonathan H.

One star based solely in the service. I cant imagine this place will stay in business based on my experience. I also watched a couple be seated and walk out ten minutes later after not receiving a menu-drinks-anything. The good was good and the cost was very reasonable. None of that matters though because the service is so poor you will hardly remember the food.

Wow! What a neighborhood gem! I am so happy to have this new restaurant open up just down the street. For about a year or so this building was vacant - previously Tarantula's billiards which is now down the street. What an incredible transformation. Inside the restaurant is very nicely decorated, and looks like a cozy, spirited, family owned mediterranean restaurant. Our party ordered the lamb and kafta skewers as entrees, and wow! the meats had such rich flavors! I was very impressed. One entree is easily enough to feed two, as it comes with very flavorful rice, salad, hummus and pita. I've heard some people complain about service...I think this is a cultural thing. In many other countries that I've traveled to, it's impolite to constantly check in. I think they did a fine job, in fact everyone I encountered at the restaurant was quite friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone! I will surely be going back again and again. Enjoy!

This was one of the worst Araby meals I have ever had. The service was fine, but the food was flavorless outside of the hummus and felafel. If you know what quality Araby food should smell and taste like, you will be shocked that this place has received anything over a 2 star rating. Tried the following dishes: Hummus: 3/5 - creamy, basically a ton of garlic smashed into garbanzo beans Pita Bread: 2/5 - soft, airy, and right out of the oven, a bit grainy though Lentil soup: 0/5 - flavorless bowl of mushed lentils Felafel: 3.5/5 - large, fresh outta the frier with some flavor, the highlight of this train-wreck of a meal Chicken shwarma plate: 0/5 - flavorless pieces of what may or may not have been chicken served over basmanti rice alongside a salad; this was not what should be passed off as chicken shwarma No thank you.

Good food and generous portions - this place is tough to beat for the money. Try out the kabobs, shawarma, or the falafel. It's hard to go wrong on this menu.

The only reason I'm not give this place more stars is due to the TERRIBLE service. This place is horribly understaffed. I came here for lunch during work hoping to get a quick bite and be on my way. However that was not that case. I ordered a gyro and my girlfriend had the falafel plate, both of which shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to prepare. We waiting for over 30 minutes and it wasn't even busy inside the restaurant. Not too sure if I'll be back just due to the fact of how long it takes them to put food out. I guess you can say it's worth a try but, similar to the other reviews, the service is absolutely awful.

I visited the Golden Pita on Sunday afternoon for a late lunch, and it was PHENOMENAL! We eat Middle Eastern food fairly often, so we know what our favorites are. We ordered a variety of dishes (which is really way too much food for two people for one sitting, but we knew that :-)) in order to get a good idea of how good the preparation was. Our order included: Apps: Grape leaves and cabbage leaves Entrees: Chicken kabab plate and lamb and beef schwarma plate Dessert: baklava "lady fingers" Before anything came the warm golden pitas with fantastic, creamy fresh hummus. The apps came out piping hot and perfectly seasoned and delicious. The plates are a lot of food, which seemed appropriate for the price, with seasoned rice, salad and tzatziki sauce, and sprinkled with a good helping of sumac. It appears that they have cheaper sandwich versions of most of their plates, which would be a good option for the less hungry. As an afterthought we took some baklava along with us, which was a bit more rose-water-y than any other baklava I've ever tasted, but still good. All the food was fresh and the service was fantastic. We were the only people being served at the time, but we were not ignored. There was a small child helping out as well, who handed us our menus and held the door on the way out. It was incredibly cute. All in all, I cannot recommend the Golden Pita enough, and we will be returning for many more meals in the future!

Just went here for the first time to grab some take away and the sandwiches are excellent and very well priced. I had the shawarma and the kebab and both were very, very good. So glad to have this place in the neighborhood. The staff was very friendly and service was very fast. Will definitely visit again!

We were visitors to Denver for a convention and we had been there almost every day. We walked in all at the same time in small to big groups. We were the big group and we ordered different appetizers which were served in no time but we had to wait for our entrees as they bring the food for the same table in the same time and smaller groups got their orders very quick. The Service was very professional and friendly but had a big troublesomeness that slowed it down: "!!!"absence of professional equipment, I didn't see any kind of computer, only an old kind of register where the server has to write the order to the kitchen and enter all the prices manually to give you the check which is very odd for allegedly a new restaurant in downtown Denver"???" Food side: Lots of flavor in the meat but we liked mostly the shawarma and gyros, fresh hommus and crunchy falafel are excellent.

Just went to the Golden Pita and it was golden, no pun intended. I am of middle eastern descent and this food was the same if not better then my mom made. Great price, really good service. I had the king combo and my friend the lamb shank both delicious. Also the veggie kebab was a great appetizer. So if your downtown and in the mood for Mediterranean food go here.

Unbelievably good Mediterranean food for an excellent price. We had a range of dishes and all had great presentation and tasted excellent. A great surprise downtown and I will be visiting again.

I just left there. SLOW service!!! The food was also overcooked. If you see one person waiting tables, turn around and LEAVE. 20 MINS TO TAKE OUR ORDER. and bring water. it took another 20 to get the food. no water refills were offered. I had to chase the waitress down to get a second cup of water. I watched 5 people get up and leave today. That's a first for me. I almost left too, but just as I was about to do so, the food came. The single waitress was overwhelmed seating people, taking orders and getting water, delivering food. The place was maybe 1/2 full at it busiest. The cook was very slow, and needed to be fired. My experience there last week was top notch. Last week, an older man and young woman were working the front and the cook was a young man. It ran smoothly. After today, the good tasting food is just not worth the time and frustration to visit this place ever again. I cannot recommend unless they have appropriate wait staff.

GP is definitely a welcome new option downtown. Falafel King, although conveniently located in my building, is blah, blah, generic. The space is sparsely decorated but I don not think I would come here for atmosphere. We ordered the meat combination and an extra side of hummus to share. The pita bread was piping hot to the touch - like burning pillows. It was soft and chewy in some parts and tin and crispy in others. The hummus was a little on the creamier side but possessed a lot of flavor. The babganoush was okay. It had a sweet note to it that didn't quite agree with me. I later found out that they use pomegranate water in making theirs. As for our meat combo, I loved the falafel and chicken and seasoned rice. I am not much of a lamb person and it certainly tasted lamb-y. I would definitely come back when I grave falafel and Middle Eastern food.

Shorthand: delicious, inexpensive food, HORRIBLE and slow service. As a visitor to Denver for a convention, we decided to go here for a quick, inexpensive lunch close to the convention center. We walked in before any one else, then proceeded to wait for over 45 minutes to order. Then we waited over an hour to get our food. The food was tasty, but we asked for separate checks, which we didn't receive. Teamed with the poor service, the experience was inexcusable.

I want to start off by saying that I am so happy that someone finally recognized how dreadfully under represented food from the Middle East is in Downtown Denver. The food is actually really good at the Golden Pita. However, my experience dining there has made my first time, my last. I know some of you will blast this part of the review but, oh well. As you walk in, you are nearly knocked off your feet by the smell of wet towel. It gets better as you go further in but, not a good first impression. This is obviously a family endeavor as a little boy of maybe 4 years old is running around squeezing between customers and going up to every table in the restaurant asking "Hows the Foood"? This would be cute once....ONCE. By the fourth time the little boy asked how the food was, I started to realize that I had been babysitting this little boy along with all the other adults in the restaurant. Not cool unless my lunch is free for my services. The last draw was that the man running the place came out of the bathroom, stepped behind the counter were one pays, unbuckles his belt, opens his pants and proceeds to tuck his shirt in. Gross!!! Please do that in the bathroom and then wash your hands. I don' t ask for much, merely a little hygiene where I eat and distraction free lunch. If you can do that Golden Pita, you will do well downtown as there are no other restaurants like you. For me the GP ride is over but, you may still have a chance with others.
