It pains me to say it, but it's true- ANTS! The food was solid and yummy, no doubt. But there were small ANTS crawling all over our basket and fish! So I politely showed it to the staff and while she saw it and apologized, she didn't even offer to replace it. She really expected me to just keep eating my food with ants crawling on it. That's sick! When I said that it HAD to be replaced, she seemed a little put off, but did it eventually with a smile. The problem wasn't the ants- shit happens. It was how they handled it- didn't comp my food, didn't offer to comp a return visit, didn't even offer to replace it. I was told that one of the family (owners) was in the kitchen and he missed the chance to keep a customer- one that yelps. Too bad. How can I go back? My experience was gross. The best thing that could happen to this location would be several unannounced health inspector visits so the restaurant can severely grow up and realize that it's more than just good food that goes into a great restaurant.

Alright, so, this place is really cool. Lots of brit pics on the wall, laid back ambiance and really friendly staff. They have a nice tv that was playing the broncos game when I went. I'd go back there just for that, it's an awesome spot to just hang out. But the food is good too. The fish and chips were really fresh (sooo hoooot, I almost burnt myself). The fish was crispy it made me wanna try all the other options (I had the cod). My girlfriend had the shepherds pie, and it was okay...good, but not brilliant. Although I guess it's shepherds pie, so how high could our expectations be? We went on a sunday, so the place was not busy at all, which is good, I guess, because they have very few tables. Also, on sundays, kids eat for free, I thought that was pretty cool. From 3-7 (if I'm not mistaken), they have happy hour, which means 75 cents PBR. They also have some other different beers, that you don't fid everywhere, but I didn't try those. Overall, 4 stars.

I can't even begin to describe how delicious this food is. The fish is cooked perfectly, the staff is amazingly nice, and you can take frozen English specialties with you for later. I feel like this will be one of my new favorites here in Denver.

The cod was phenomenal and some of the best I've had! Perfectly browned, crispy, delicious batter, and delicious flaky fish. The chips were good but not great. I will be back next time I need my fish and chips fix.

The cod was excellent. Crispy big pieces and thick fries. Had an urge for fish and chips and glad I selected this spot.

I really cannot express how awesome this place is. All three locations are amazing actually. But this is by far my favorite just because of the decor. Its pretty small fits maybe 30 people tops. The walls are covered in music posters of British bands, and its right next door to Modliving, so one stop shop! The food though is amazing the best fish and chips I have ever had. The owners a very awesome guy, along with the whole work staff. I would highly recommend everyone check this place out. I have to stop in and get my fix about once a month. I will warn you its very addicting.

Great place for simple British Fare. Authentic, not-too-greasy, nice and crisp, lots of side options. Clean and we'll run establishment. My British father-in-law approved too!

Yes - a GB Fish & Chips on my side of town!! Didn't realize it was here until I was tooling down Colfax looking for a place to grab a bite to eat and there it was. I ordered a half meal of cod with chips - Tasty! It seems like the batter is a little heavier at this location but still good. $.75 PBRs during happy hour (4pm - 7pm) for you folks that want to partake of the cheap brew. The staff was bubbly and accommodating! The only reason that I subtracted a star is because the parking is nonexistent.

Fish and chips... Five stars? Anybody could fry some fish, right? WRONG! They earn these 5 stars, because I have not found a better place for fish and chips in the Denver metro area. These folks clearly know their way around the batter bowl, and deep fryer. I recommend trying the sampler on your first visit. Prawns are perfectly plump and the batter is crispy. Scallops, are perfectly cooked within their batter casing. Same goes for the cod, tilapia, and the squid. I am generally not a big fan of squid unless it comes as calamari. But in the combo from GB... it's a highlight. Be sure to get a side of curry sauce. I dip the fish AND the chips in that after I run out of tartar sauce. They have halibut occasionally, so be sure to ask. It's a blast to look at all that Britanicana on the walls too...

Happy to see some more diversity on colfax. I recommend getting a full order and splitting it with your significant other to save a buck or two. No complaints.

  • Rob L.

Very fresh fish and great batter! They batter and fry the fish right when you order it. Great chips also. Awesome happy hour deal with $0.75 PBRs. Highly recommend!

  • Claire B.

Fish and chips were delicious. It was deep fried, crisp and batter was light. Clam chowder was good, not soupy or hearty, inbetween with chunks of clam, delicious. In all, i recommend going here for lunch once a week. It's different than your run of the mill burger or pizza joint.

  • Lori M.

Great fish and chips! I ordered the half order of Tilapia and my hubby got the half order combo. Fish was quite moist, and the squid was fantastic! The guy that works in the back (tall guy with beard), probably the owner, was quite friendly and welcoming. My husband and I will definitely be back.

  • Garfunkalow T.

The selection of different fishes is outstanding. The cod comes out just the way it should. If you like squid, you are in for a treat... Pretty much fried squid steaks!

I thought I would get the first review for GB Fish and Chips, but Mary Jo beat me to the punch. I really don't have a lot to add to her review. Growing up, my brother hated seafood, so naturally, I came to love it in order to torture him. Fish and chips was a dining out staple for me, but as an adult it seems to have lost its magic. It is never quite crispy enough, or the batter gets too saturated with oil, or the fish is always kind flavorless. This GB Fish and Chips location really impressed me during my first visit. The fish was fresh, the batter crisp w/ a pleasant flavor, and the oil was clean - all resulting in a well-executed batch of fish and chips. The staff was friendly and helpful, the dining room is suprisingly spacious for being so small, and they have plenty of high chairs, in case we want to take over the restaurant with baby-mania. Hopefully, they'll hold strong in this location and give me an excuse to browse the fun goodies at Mod Living.

Nice to have great fish and chips in the neighborhood! Keep it up

Quite good. I was a first timer and I appreciated how the employees went out of their way to explain everything and describe flavors etc. The curry dipping sauce was mouth watering, and I will be back!

This location used to have the best burgers in Denver and I was upset when they closed (likely due to a complete lack of parking) and then later this fish and chips joint opened. But boy was I surprised! These are absolutely that best fish and chips that I have ever had. The place is small with a limited menu and a staff that is friendly but less than caring. But who cares? It's a cheap dump with great fish and chips! Enjoy it for what it is. P.s. get an order of bangers and mash too, it'll knock your socks off

Great fish and chips. Super crispy outside. Exellent tarter sauce. Highly recommended

  • Aubrie M.

I am glad I decided to stumble into this place when I was on Colfax. Perfectly battered fish and delicious chips, and their tartar sauce is something to be reckoned with as well. This meal was just as good as any fish and chips I had in the UK. I know were I will be going for Fish Fridays!

Nicer than the Broadway outlet, but I'm not sure that's a good thing... Stopped in for a meat pie & chips. My dad had the cod. All good, served hot & fresh! The location is nice & clean, compared to the retro service station motif at the original location. As expected the decor is a mix of English Rock/Pop albums & Football. They even have an autographed Colorado Rapids banner hanging on the wall. GB on East Colfax is a winner!

It's hard to find good fish and chips, but hey got it here. Hot, fresh cod.

  • Michael B.

Excellent! Some of the best fish and chips I've had since I moved back from Scotland. The fish was freshly battered, tender, and the batter was light and cooked perfectly. The staff was very attentive, the restaurant spotless, and the menu just right. I would advise you to get a half order cod dinner. That includes three good sized pieces of fresh cod and a large amount of chips (steak fries). I can eat a lot of fried fish and I almost couldn't finish this. I also had a side of very good cole slaw. I also got a beef pie for takeout. It was delicious! I definitely want to try everything else on the menu! Definitely a five star experience. I know I will be visiting often.

I was hankering for some fine fish 'n' chips so Yelped and found GB on Colfax. There was plenty of parking, which was a definite plus. I went on a weekday right during the lunch hour and it was busy but not too crowded. The seating consists of a few picnic-style tables and some stools and a bar. Since I was alone, I sat at the bar on a stool. I used the restroom down the hall and it was adequate. My order was delivered to me in a short time. Nice to know that everything is made up fresh. I ordered the cod plus a cup of clam chowder. The chowder was nothing special. I guess I'm comparing it with fresh clam chowder in San Francisco, to its detriment :) It seemed a bit greasy with a bit of film on the top. The fish was excellent--light as a feather breading and crispy! My only complaint about the fish was the very small portion of tartar sauce. I wish they had a fish and chips platter. I had to order all three items separately and they were over $13 altogether without a drink. Pricey, but not as pricey as the fish and chips I had in Bergen, Norway :) I will definitely go there again.

Confession: I've eaten at GB's four times this week. I have lived in Denver for 8 years, and have not tried GB's until recently, when after a trip to Seattle, where I stuffed myself with fish and chips daily, and started asking around for fish and chips recommendations in Denver, and I got a resounding chorus of people sending me to GB's! I've tried both the cod and tilapia, you can't go wrong with either. This location in particular is always clean, and the employees are friendly and hospitable, circling the lobby to make sure everyone has enough tartar sauce and everything tastes good. The half meal is PLENTY for one, so if you're there on a date, you could definitely split a whole meal. Enjoy your fish and chips!

  • Larry B.

Yuck and Greasy! Absolutely a dismal amount of cod! I couldn't even eat two of the five oysters, it look like cottage cheese! Both of the guys that were behind the counter were friendly and helpful courteous. Everyone online commented/recommended to order the cod. I ordered the cod and oysters. What I received was greasy batter. I realize that it's fried, but the grease inside the cod and oysters were ridiculous. If you like greasy batter, this is the plate place to go. The restaurant was clean, the service was amazing, staff was friendly, but I will never go back to this restaurant. You could barely find the actual cod.

  • Gil A.

You may say to yourself "how do you screw up fried fish and fries?" aka fish and chips... It can be done, but NOT at GB Fish and Chips. I came in on what they call Tilapia Tuesday and since I am a tilapia fan, I got me some. Batter was great, fish was average and the fries were outstanding. I'm picky about chips and these were a perfect balance of crunch without over frying. I'll have to try their flagship cod next time, but well worth $6!

I enjoy eating foods that make me feel manly. Street tacos and burgers. Fingery, messy, inexpensive, off-the-street type things that aid in my feeling rugged, low maintenance, common, and run-down by the pace of life. Fish and Chips fall into this category. Greasy and simple. Two deep fried objects lying adjacent to each other on waxy paper, or thrown together willy-nilly into a brown paper bag to be consumed by someone wearing work boots and an orange vest. Rudimentary. One greasy step removed from being in their basest form of existence. Potatoes. Fish. Vat of oil. That'll be $6.50. In the past my desire for fish n chips has mostly been based on this desire for baseness and machismo. Because how they ended up tasting was usually a let-down. When biting into the battered fish I could predictably depend on encountering two completely separate levels of texture. One texture for the batter. Crispy. And one for the fish. slightly tough. Always tougher than I was hoping for. But at GB Fish n Chips there was only one uniform sensation. Crispy, tender yumminess with the slight hint of fish scent roaming up through my nasal conchae. I've lived in the UK and i've lived in New Zealand. But I'm most pleased with what I've found here on Colfax. As a side. I'd give anything for them to start using real potatoes for their fries. They would be my first 5 star review. The fries are the only real weekness. Big potatoey by-product type things.

I am not a huge fish fan but GB fish and chips is INCREDIBLE! I go at least a week (sometimes 3 times a week) and the food is consistently awesome. The is consistently friendly and laid back. Love the music and the fun UK vibe this place always has going on.

Fantastic! The combination platter was so tasty...each item was fresh tasting and the tartar sauce was wonderful! 75¢ PBR'S during happy hour! Well worth it!

  • Eric R.

I've been to this location intermittently since it's opened. When the kitchen has their game together, this is a 5 star spot. The batter is light and crispy, the fish oozes with fat like fish and chips ought to and the chips are crispy and salty with a nice soft interior. However, about half the time we go, something is either not cooked right or downright cold. With the price they charge, it should be perfect every time. It'd be a lot better if they improved their beer selection too.

I Love GB, my boyfriend and I try to make it here every Tuesday for their great Tilapia Tuesdays deal. Only $1 for a piece of fish, so you can get 3 pieces and chips for just under five bucks. This deal is just way too good to be true. Also the staff is really friendly and helpful, and their happy hour deals are good as well. Check it out, the best fish and chip in Denver hands down!

I was stuck at the oil change place for about an hour so I asked them where I should go for lunch. They recommended the fish place up the street so I gave it a shot. Thought it would have more of a chain restaurant to it because I have seen a few around town. Came in for lunch and was immediately greeted by girl behind the counter and told her this was my first visit. She went over the menu and explained that the cod and chips was pretty much the standard but on Tuesdays (which it was) there was a special on Tilapia. I went with the standard fish and chips and it came out a bit later and was delicious. The fish was flaky and the chips were fresh. While I ate, 3 different staff asked if there was anything else they could get for me or fill up my water. It was pretty busy at lunch time and I was amazed they took the time to check in. Much better than expected. Give them a try.

I've only had the cod fish and chips here and it might stay that way because they are amazing!! They have a lot of other great choices on the menu, but I just love traditional fish and chips, especially when they are prepared so well. Next time I will push myself to try the clam chowder or the shepherd's pie or meat pie. Casual fun atmosphere. Check them out for #Worldcup for drink specials.

Tried to go here last night with my vegetarian husband because they have 'veggie' pasties. Turns out the veggie pasties are not vegetarian. They have chicken bouillon in them (as does the curry sauce). Since the pasties are homemade, it would be super easy to use vegetarian bouillon instead. We left and went down the street to a great Irish pub instead.

Good cod fish n chips here. Homemade mashed taters good, just needs a bit more butter and salt. Super friendly staff, reasonable prices. Recommend the full order if you're hungry.

So anytime something says it's located on Colfax I tend to get a little nervous about these restaurants. But! Fear no more.. Fish and chips extraordinaire has arrived. So it's hard to find parking especially around lunch time but luckily I found parking in the lot and the entrance door in on Colfax I thought it was the side door at first. It is community seating with long tables and people sort of just sit wherever. You order at the front and thy have a huge menu posted so you can look at it. I ordered just the cod and the fries and man it was good. Fried perfectly nice and crispy but oh so good. They give you a good amount of food. You can also do mix and match sorta thing where you get different kinds of fish. I want to try this next time I come here. Mostly was just here for a quick lunch didn't get to really try anything else but what I did have was great and I would love to come back and explore their menu further

Let me first say, I absolutely hate fish. My friend got cod and I got a beef meat pie. The meat pie was perfect, stuffed with onions and ground beef. Yum.. Then, the ultimate test... I tasted his cod. The batter was crispy and wonderful and the fish was flakey and not over powering!!! Yum, I would eat an order of fish here!! Might I add great happy hour.. Small place. Would be good for a quick bite to eat or take out!!!

  • Elizabeth N.

Best fish & chips ever! Made fresh to order and the portion sizes were very correct. The batter is light and pillowy yet crunchy. The batter does not all fall off when you take a bite. Also very friendly.

  • Erin N.

Ate here last night with my kids. I have no problem spending money on good food but I was a bit shocked by the price for what you get - alot of greasy batter and very little fish. I personally don't care for the big thick potatoe strips for fries and they are a frozen product and tasted like the freezer. It is so easy to make fresh fries! Cole slaw had no flavor not sure if there was any dressing. To make all even better my oldest son and I were both sick overnight with food poisoning. The only thing we ate in common was the tartar sauce and my other son had none and he is fine. I was a bit worried by what looks like a house refrigerator in the kitchen and apparently it was justified. Won't be going here again! I will fry my fish at home the Southern way with cornmeal- safe and sooooo much better!! Better off at Popeyes across the street!!

Every time I eat here the food is consistently above expectations. I've eaten fish and chips all over London and the best real fish and chips is in Denver Go figure.

  • Demitri R.

Never been here before, and the lady behind the counter explained the menu, and the difference between Half and Full meals and what people normally order. I went with the Cod half meal and fries. 3 pieces of freshly battered fish served piping hot. The Fries were pretty good I covered them in Vinegar. The Cup of Tartar sauce is awfully small and being served in a paper dipping cup. Although it is environmentally friendly its horrible to be used for dipping your fish in. A Bigger plastic cup would be better. They also serve Shepherds pie and Clam Chowder. And on the TV are Soccer games though I'm sure it changes to Football when the Broncos play. If you ask for more tartar sauce they oblige in a friendly manner. Next I will be back to Nom Nom on more of the menu.

The best fish and chips I've had since I was in Dublin. Why does a Bostonian have to go to Denver to get fried fish this good?

    (5)
  • Cyber P.

Reminds me of home. The staff and service is beyond exceptional for a fish and chips place, they serve beer and have football (Soccer) playing on TV. So is the food authentic? Yes, better than the fish and chips back home where they slap the cod on chips and off you go.

We just moved to Denver 6 days ago and we've already been here twice. Perfect fish - just the right amount of batter. Steak fries are also really good.

  • t l.

It's not good ole english fish and chips, but that is a good thing. Fries are excellent and the fish tastes about as fresh as can be - for Denver. Reasonable. Atmosphere just OK. A little sterile for seating, but man, the food is good.

    (4)
  • Mark E.

Best service! There was a cute gal working the counter that explained everything about the menu. She gave suggestions based on our hunger levels. The food came out quick and there was a lot of it! The clam chowder was great and the fish and chips were awesome.

  • Lily S.

Best fish and chips in town, even better than what I ate in London! Before GB Fish & Chips, I only liked one other place for fish and chips: Baker St. Pub. But at GB, everything's great, the clam chowder was super creamy and meaty but not too chunky. The Shepherd's pie is flavorful, the meat tender and the potatoes fluffy. For the fried stuff, we got the combo meal. Fish, shrimp, oyster, scallops, squid, all were wonderful. That's because the batter is amazing! Just hearing the next person biting into it, the sound is already very convincing. The seafoods are not over seasoned because all the seasoning is in the batter. So if you're trying to be really healthy and peel off the fried batter, you'll lose some taste but what's inside is still very juicy and tender. I wish they had other sauces than just tartar and ketchup, but that'll probably make it less "authentic", oh well. The place is busy but the staff make sure to wipe the tables clean as soon as customers leave. When we asked for extra tartar, we were given a whole bunch, very good service!

Ugh. Totally not what I expected! Totally misled by the good yelp reviews! Gotta say I was let down by this jail cafeteria quality food... sorry. When I walked into this "restaurant", I was met with an overwhelming aroma of fish and grease. On the inside this place looks like it was thrown together by some college kids that got a bright idea to make a fish & chips joint. I proceeded to order the the Clam Chowder, which turned out to be way to watery, and not enough clams or potatoes. It is seriously some of the worst clam chowder I've ever had. Canned soup has better game than this stuff! Then came out the Shepard's Pie. What a joke... picture something that you get out of the frozen section of the grocery store that you heat in the microwave. Seriously, plastic container and all. So... finally the Fish & Chips. You know, they were decent...but a bit grease soaked. Left with a stomach ache from all the grease. What's funny is that this place is kind of expensive! I can't recommend this place to anyone looking for good food. Sorry but that is my opinion of this food. I'm not a food guru, blogger, or officiant... please feel free to form your own opinion, if you want to waste your gas driving across town to make it. On the bright side there was friendly service... but I'm still confused by the good reviews.

Yum. Yum. Yum. We lived in Park Hill for a while and saw the great reviews so we figured we'd try it. We wondered how fish and chips could be so rave-worthy.... we don't wonder anymore! I've never had fried fish that actually made me sad when it was over. LOL The "chips" were great too - crisp and not greasy. My hubs had the oysters and love them as well. Think we'll have to hit this place up again soon even though we aren't in the neighborhood... I hear the one on Broadway is equally good so not matter what, their yummy goodness isn't too far away.

GB Fish & Chips E Colfax Location, Can you send ALL the Cod Love for my Fish Intake weekly?? I heart you, you had Cod Kiss Me eversince I had the first bite at the Broadway Location... This is like the 3rd GB Fish & Chips "establishment" in Denver Metro Area that is closeby. So I decide to bring N for Lunch after running errands in this part of Neighborhood, Friday September 14th 2012. Time : 11:05hrs ish. Thankfully when we arrived, there are several parking spots available, and we are one of the earliest patrons deciding to dine in at this GB Fish & Chips. The lady who took our order was indeed inviting and welcoming. I opt for 1/2 Cod ($7.02) with tax, while N opt for 1/2 order of Cod with Chips. About 10 minutes or so waiting, our order was ready and came out piping hot. Just the way I like it. This GB Fish & Chips is "smaller" in size in terms of seating/dining areas as compared to the other 2 GB Fish & Chips, which I have been to. Nevertheless, the Cod that I opt for, remind me why I heart GB Fish & Chips alot and hence the 4 stars and I am indeed truly A FAN, to you GB Fish & Chips. The Cod is so flaky and so tender, lips-Smacking Delicious and the Cod is Fried just right. N also like her order. I am glad that I brought N to here. With the Great Britain or Everything British memorabilia hanging as decor, I was "transported" briefly to UK. After our quick Lunch, I decide to purchase 2 Chicken Pasty - $6.95 each TO GO for Hubs. With tax its $15.01. I opt for the "frozen" ones so I can bring it home and bake it. You can also microwave the Chicken Pasty for 2 minutes. From the instructions written by the lovely guy, to Bake the Chicken Pasty.. Turn On the oven to 350F and baked the Chicken Pasty for 15 to 20 minutes. When Hubs had the Chicken Pasty, Hubs did not fancy it that much but he still recall the order we had from 2 different locations of GB Fish and Chips. I dont mind returning to GB Fish & Chips at this location when needed. GO GB Fish & Chips!!! @137/2012

I came in here because I had a friend who worked here and her family is from England. She said the food was outstanding and the recipe's were from "back home". I brought my husband who doesn't eat anything seafood related and my best friend who eats anything I put in front of her. Was the food good? Yes! Was it worth trip down to Colfax, the price it costs, and the calories? No. I am a fried fish snob and while the quality was higher than average, it didn't blow me away either. They don't even make the tartar sauce from scratch. My husband ordered the Shepard pie with the curry sauce. It came out in a microwave safe container. That my friends, isn't very promising. I tasted it, and we both agree it was just above the quality of a frozen dinner and I have made hugely better shepherd's pie at home. I suggest you go a tad farther up Colfax to 3 lion's pub. Their Monday night fish fry special utterly phenomenal, as is there house made shepherds pie huge chunks of lamb and garlicky mashed potatoes.

I like the offers and the food also that they offer drinks. Not a great variety but it will do. Small corner right on colfax. I've been here twice and I have to say the fish was very fatty and I feel like a little over fried until everything pretty much tasted the same. Maybe someone just had a bad day.

A new place on Colfax and this one is different....no taco, no hamburger, no fried chicken. We have a fish and chips place with beer (to come on March 1) on Colfax and I think this is a winning combination. Your choice of fish, 4 British specialties, a few sides, clam chowder: a good simple menu. We had the clam chowder, cod, chips, and slaw. The fish was so clean and tasty, the perfect crunch. And I liked the slaw as well. As for the clam chowder, creamy with good chucks of clam, carrots, and potatoes. Very friendly staff, nice clean tables, and as before, you can visit Mod Living while waiting for your meal. I will be back.

I passed by the place a few days ago and had the opportunity to stop by today for a late lunch. The half portion meal was a good quantity and cooked fresh. Staff was very friendly and offered suggestions. Glad to have them in the neighborhood. Give them a try!

I like this place a lot for many reasons. Thy have a variety of fish to chops from to beer batter and fry. They have beer. They're also a futbol/soccer place, so naturally I enjoy it. The boy downside is there's not one closer to home. Google maps also takes you way up north on Broadway

After returning from a long weekend trip, no food in the house to eat... Thus the trip to this friendly, fair priced, clean establishment. The atmosphere is welcoming with great music playing - not too loud where you can't hear - but loud enough to enjoy !! My friend and I walked in as they were getting ready to close for the evening - without hesitation and very welcoming words, the cashier/waitress took our order - providing knowledgeable information regarding the menu and also pleasant conversation. Originally anticipated to have to get the food to go, but the staff encouraged us to stay and eat in as they had some other "chores" to do. The food was great - I had the cod and my friend had the squid - loved it !! not too much batter, not too little - just right !! I will be back whenever I am in need of some my fish and chips fix - also the $.75 PBR is a big plus !! What a stellar deal !

OMG! So good! The batter is wonderful and seafood is so good! We got a combo plate. My one complaint is the small amount of tartar they gave....charge $1 if you want a bigger size additional. That is my reason for 4 stars....other then that...Heavenly. also $2.75 for a glass of wine on happy hour.

I ate here on Friday night after purchasing a deal on Livingsocial. My boyfriend is from England and I visited London when studying abroad in Europe. We ordered the full order of Cod (more than enough for two people to share) and sausage rolls (something that my boyfriend was very reminiscent of from his childhood). The texture of the battered fish was amazing! The whole meal was a little heavy but exactly what you would expect from a legitimate fish and chips place. Both of us agreed that it was just as good as the places we had been in England. I would highly recommend this place...and a delicious strongbow to wash it down.

What a difference from my last time here. I was so looking forward to eating here again. But this time it was really bad, food was bland and would not do this place again. No taste what so ever.

I'm a fan of the one on Broadway so was happy to see the new location on Colfax. The menu seems to be the same and I tried the full Cod meal with a can of Boddingtons. The batter was thick and the white cod nice and flaky. The chips were chunky and went down a treat with plenty of vinegar. You pay at the counter when you order and I feel they lose business that way as I chugged my beer before finishing my food and at a regular pub we would of been having another round. They have a couple of TVs that were playing footy games but if they are going to promote showing live games then they might need a couple more. My only gripe is that compared to your typical Brit/Irish pubs around town, its kinda expensive so I gotta ding em a star!

Some of the BEST fish n chips i've ever had. the Cod is WAY better then the Tilapia or Catfish. Also, I think the Clam chowder they serve is some of the best I've had in Colorado. Always get great service and greeted with a smile. So far I have never had a less then A+ experience at this. Sometimes they get really busy and is cramped. Great place if you are a Football (soccer) fan like me, that's what is on their TVs all the time.

Super greasy meal that really wasn't all that great and honestly, a tad pricy. I don't quite get the raving reviews. The girl working today was a bit absent minded as well--asked her twice for more tartar sauce and she never got back to me. She did however walk around the restaurant asking everyone else how their meals were and if they needed more sauce.

I love this place!!! Okay, so how can I be so enthusiastic about a place that serves fish and chips? Well, they just taste THAT good. I am generally not a big fan of fried food, but I can down an entire half cod meal from GB Fish & Chips which includes three battered fishy bodies with tartar sauce and lemon, delicious fries (yes, I enjoy those with malt vinegar), and a drink (generally, I drink water, but with this meal I always have to have an orange carbonated beverage)! The girl that always seems to be working there when I go is super nice too. So maybe the biggest bonus of this place could be the cutest cat that resides in the furniture store next to the restaurant. While I ate with my family at GB Fish & Chips (adults had half cod meals, daughters had a kid's cod meal and a awesome huge beef pasty), the kitty popped up on some furniture next door to peer in the window joining the two establishments to watch everyone eat. Where else can you get awesome food and entertainment for a great price?? I hope when we move to England in the fall that the food tastes at least a quarter as good as this!

Having lived in England, I was on the search for some good fish and chips. This is the closest place I've come to it! Surprised to see they also had Pimm's and Yorkshire tea. Def recommend this place as it is the closest I've gotten to UK fish and chips. The employees are also very welcoming.

This place is Fish Fingers & Chips, they give you a molecule of fish with ton of batter around and then rob you blind, don't be fooled by the photo on their web site. They were good in the beginning but the fish kept shrinking and now the Cod pieces are about as tick as your finger and not as long with ton of batter

I was surprised when I rolled past and saw this place on East Colfax. I've been to the Broadway restaurant dozens of times, the Sloans Lake location a half dozen. I was sad when the burger place previously in this space went away, I loved their Tuna burger; but glad GB landed here. I'm also glad to see them steadily busy whenever I stop in. The tall skinny "surfer" looking guy who works there is incredibly friendly and checks on everyone. I figure he must be a manager. I like extra red sauce with my fish, tartar gives me indigestion even though I love the flavor. It's never a problem here and they always get my order right. The breading recipe is a miracle: always great at all three locations, and this one being the newest is no exception.

I love this place it's always a really good experience and the food is amazing. The atmosphere inside is on point every time with a great mix of music flowing around and sports on tv. Also the employees are always friendly making this a very enjoyable place to eat at.

The BF brought me here, since he is a semi-regular and I've never been. We had the fish and chips, along with two pints of beer (can't remember what type, he's the beer connoisseur, so I just let him pick it out for me). When the fish and chips arrived, it seemed like it would be too much for us (we shared an order), but it turned out to be just the right size. It was very yummy, and reminded me of the fish and chips I used to get when I lived in England. It is a bit on the smaller size, so it would probably get pretty crowded on the weekends or during popular sporting event times. Parking looks like it could be problematic if it were crowded, but don't let that deter you from checking out this place and partaking in it's great fish and chips After you have some of their great fish and chips, and possibly some wonderful beer, head over to Sloan's lake for a bit of a stroll about to work off some of the calories.

This place serves good food. I just want to warn about Tilapia Tuesday. They serve pieces of tilapia that are about half the size as normal. You would have to spend more money to get the same amount of fish. Other than that complaint, everything is pretty tasty.

Best fish and chips in town. Every time I order fish and chips anywhere else my brain is expecting them to taste like GB's and they never do. The service is great. All the staff is super nice. If you haven't tried it yet you definitely should!

This place is awesome! I made my way to the back of the restaurant to order my food, where I was greeted by a smiling and sincerely friendly cashier. I ordered the half order of cod and chips. It came with a soda for $10 total with tax. When it was brought out to me, there were 3 pieces of fish and plenty of fries. The guy that brought it to me (who I later found out is an owner) commented that one of the pieces of fish was a little small, and he would bring me another. Wow! That's good service. I didn't even know there was a problem! The fish was perfectly cooked...the right amount of batter, perfect crispiness, flaky fish, and brought right out of the fryer. The fries were good, too. I loaded everything up with black pepper and malt vinegar...YUM! Another piece of fish was cooked for me and brought to my seat. I hated that they had gone to the trouble to cook it for me because the amount of food I had to start with was more than I could eat. As I was leaving, the girl who took my order was wiping down tables. I asked her to thank the kitchen for bringing me the extra piece of fish, and she told me he was the owner and would let him know. She smiled and wished me a pleasant day. I will definitely go back. Great food and excellent service. These guys know what they're doing!

We saw this place and walked in since it looked interesting. It's a small place but there is plenty room for large parties. They have a limited menu with plenty of variations you can make. You get the food super hot and super fast. The mashed potatoes and chips were greasy but tasty. The customer service was exceptional and the price was reasonable. Will definitely go again when I'm in the mood for fish and chips.

Good cod fish n chips here. Homemade mashed taters good, just needs a bit more butter and salt. Super friendly staff, reasonable prices. Recommend the full order if you're hungry.

  • Cyber P.

Reminds me of home. The staff and service is beyond exceptional for a fish and chips place, they serve beer and have football (Soccer) playing on TV. So is the food authentic? Yes, better than the fish and chips back home where they slap the cod on chips and off you go.

It's not good ole english fish and chips, but that is a good thing. Fries are excellent and the fish tastes about as fresh as can be - for Denver. Reasonable. Atmosphere just OK. A little sterile for seating, but man, the food is good.

Best service! There was a cute gal working the counter that explained everything about the menu. She gave suggestions based on our hunger levels. The food came out quick and there was a lot of it! The clam chowder was great and the fish and chips were awesome.

Best fish & chips ever! Made fresh to order and the portion sizes were very correct. The batter is light and pillowy yet crunchy. The batter does not all fall off when you take a bite. Also very friendly.

Fish and chips, and bangers and mash are great. Grungy, but whatever. It's fish and chips, man!

I am glad I decided to stumble into this place when I was on Colfax. Perfectly battered fish and delicious chips, and their tartar sauce is something to be reckoned with as well. This meal was just as good as any fish and chips I had in the UK. I know were I will be going for Fish Fridays!

Very fresh fish and great batter! They batter and fry the fish right when you order it. Great chips also. Awesome happy hour deal with $0.75 PBRs. Highly recommend!

Fish and chips were delicious. It was deep fried, crisp and batter was light. Clam chowder was good, not soupy or hearty, inbetween with chunks of clam, delicious. In all, i recommend going here for lunch once a week. It's different than your run of the mill burger or pizza joint.

Great fish and chips! I ordered the half order of Tilapia and my hubby got the half order combo. Fish was quite moist, and the squid was fantastic! The guy that works in the back (tall guy with beard), probably the owner, was quite friendly and welcoming. My husband and I will definitely be back.
