I think Gather is a work in progress. They aren't sure whether they want to be a neighborhood joint, or a private caterer for the businesses in Galvanize, or a gourmet destination deli. The prices are high and the hours are strange, but the food is good. They keep changing the menu, so every time I go, I need to start from scratch deciding what I want. Don't get too attached to anything because it probably won't be there the next time. I live nearby, so it is super convenient for me to grab a bite, but I wouldn't make a special trip for their food.

I love Gather! It is located in the Galvanize building, a warehouse with workspaces of varying sizes to rent. (Gather is in the front part of the building, so you can hang out there without actually using Galvanize's space.) One side of the Gather serving area is the cafe- they have single pour coffees and espresso beverages, as well as loose leaf teas. Yes, they are expensive drinks but they are hand-crafted with excellent ingredients, so you get what you pay for. They have an in-house pastry chef and in-house bagel maker who both make amazing treats! Again, you're paying more for the quality. The other side of the serving area is a bar. They also serve fantastic lunch items and happy hour snacks created by Chef Lon Symensma of ChoLon. The open seating area is very modern and yet cozy. I have been here a couple of times and have gotten a lot of work done while sipping a delicious drink, nibbling on a to-die-for pastry and sitting in a comfy spot. I'm from the Bay Area and have been searching for a great spot like this for years. Go Gather!

Rosenberg Bagels are hands down the best bagels in Denver! Growing up on the East Coast I have high expectations for my bagels and I' am happy to have finally found a good place to get them fresh in Denver. Josh the owner is also a great guy and very friendly. Enough said, go check them out!

The two stars are because the bagels are absolutely amazing!....but they are made by Rosenberg Bagels and Delicatessen and this is unfortunately the only place in the city you can get them right now. It's also a reasonably cool space. Past that I don't know what to even say. Gather is first and foremost a coffee shop and not only did they serve me the single worst cup of coffee I've had in my entire life they charged me more than I pay in Manhattan or San Francisco. I would drive all the way there for the bagels in the future.....

Gather has a very open and industrial layout. People come here to work or while they work at Galvanize. Free WiFi - check! Ample, although mostly uncomfortable, seating - check! The actual cafe is okay -- they have some interesting food choices (a bag of curry nuts, for example), but the coffee was less than spectacular. It was cute, sure; my cappuccino was prepared with a latte art heart on top. Taste? Meh. Size? Even more meh. The darn thing was smaller than a double cappuccino in Europe. (Read: where is my cappu... *pulls out magnifying glass* Oh!) $4 for two sips results in a mighty expensive per-sip ratio -- at that price, I better be getting transported to some caffeinated heaven. Lucky for me, I was treated to my drink, and that enabled me to enjoy it. Had it eaten a few Georges out of my wallet, I would've been an unhappy camper.

Three stars for the food/coffee. +1 star for the atmosphere in the Galvanize building. Drip coffee is just okay. Plenty of seating, open air and space, bright windows and light. People watching and being in the middle of a lively center scores big points.

UPDATE: I have decided to update the following review since I heard from the new GM of Gather. He was tremendously apologetic for our bad experience and encouraged us to return to Gather as soon as possible. Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to do so because work has me traveling quite a bit. So, I have upgraded the rating to three stars until I am able to return to Gather. I'm hoping when I do return, I will be able to upgrade the review to four or five stars. The new GM indicated that on the day we went to Gather it was both the GM and the bartender's last day. No wonder the bartender was drinking on the job! It was his last day. Thankfully, both of them have been replaced with a new GM and new bartender. The new GM is very serious about customer service. So, what I say below probably doesn't apply to the new management. ************************************** Previous review: We went to Gather for Happy Hour one Friday evening, so my review is based upon that experience alone. We did not order coffee, and we certainly weren't sticking around for any food after what we witnessed while having two beers. The bar seemed well-stocked with liquor, which is something the bartender took full advantage of while we were visiting. The bartender had no fewer than three shots with patrons at the other end of the bar. He was not necessarily drunk but he certainly wasn't in top form, either. When a gust of wind disturbed the piles of dust atop the bar and relatively little used liquor bottles, said patrons and lush bartender began blowing the dust about and straight into my drink. That was the last sip for me, so to speak. We left shortly after this and vowed not to return (at least for the bar portion of the business), unless under new management. As I mentioned at the outset, I cannot speak for the coffee shop or the food. If, however, you're looking for a Happy Hour venue, do yourself a huge favor and skip this place.

It's so nice to have another coffee shop in this area. Gather isn't just a coffee shop though--it's a breakfast/lunch spot, bar/happy hour spot, office building, and event site. I've only been for the coffee, pastries, and lunch. The space is great. Exposed brick with orange accents and a variety of seating options, lots of outlets, and free wi-fi. There are two large tv screens on, but I didn't find them distracting. The coffee and food are very good. They serve Novo coffee and Wystone tea. The bagels are very, very good. Get one. Sole sandwiches come with your choice of a cookie or a bag of Boulder Chips. I always get the cookie. The grilled cheese and tomato soup lunch doesn't come with that option, but is very good and that combination makes forgoing a cookie worth it. The quinoa salad is delicious. I was surprised that it came in a small 4x4 to-go box, but was even more surprised that the salad filled me up. Pastries are half off after 3:00 p.m. The scones are especially good. The cinnamon roll and chocolate croissant were pretty good, but I wouldn't get them again; I admit that I'm very picky about cinnamon rolls and chocolate croissants. Very friendly service. Great addition to the neighborhood.

Here's the thing: the food and drinks are great, and prices are reasonable. But the staff is just so...dreadful. Slow to notice you, slow to come back for refills, no conversation (not even a "hi how are you?"), no offers or suggestions, when asked about specials, they push a menu towards you wordlessly. This is more than one of them! Not just one person! The three times I've been there, for events, I mentally excuse the poor service because the bar is short staffed and the events are crowded and busy. But last time, it was just super rough. The staff wafts around ignoring you, literally rolling their eyes at polite requests, and doesn't step in to help you. As an example, my first time there, I didn't know where my event was being held or what the drink token was. I went to the bar and said "Hi, I'm here for SalesForce?" Most bartenders would know that's kind of a question. This one gave me a blank stare. Thanks! Anyway, I would (and will) still go there, but had to note the staff needs work.

Phenomenal atmosphere. Great design. My friend ordered the pour over coffee and commented that it's the best he's ever had. My jasmine green tea is great too. Super friendly, helpful staff.

Gather is inside of the galvanize building. it's part cafe, and part bar. They make fancy food with a hip cafe twist along with homemade bagels with toppings. It is a bit pricey, my first visit I got small tea, granola, and a cup of yogurt/granola for $12 On my second visit i got a grilled mac and cheese sandwich with tender belly ham and a side of cole slaw for $9. the service is good. I have not ordered anything from the bar yet.

Fantastic space. I mean, I really really dig this space. I'd model my own cafe/bar after it. However, they seemed to have skimped on the most important details: the food. Their coffee can be described by three adjectives: Mediocre, overpriced, soul-less. Their food: Just a-okay coming from one of the top chefs in Denver. Their drinks: Pricey (their HH pushes it down to barely normal prices). While I won't discount the fact that it's already a huge advantage having coffee and beer so close to an energized start-up work environment, giving even just a little bit of effort on its execution wouldn't hurt.

In recent years, the trend has been for coffee shops to be more of a workspace and Gather takes this to the extreme. It has a large, cold feel to it, almost like having coffee in a warehouse, and the layout was confusing. I ordered the lox, bagel and cream cheese with a coffee for my brunch. My Novo coffee pour over was good, but nothing exceptional. My sandwich was excellent. High quality smoked salmon and those bagels...wow. The price of my lox and bagel sandwich and coffee was about the same price I'd pay at any other bagel shop, maybe a dollar more. Yes, the bagels are excellent. And anyone that knows me, knows I am a NY bagel elitist. However, once Josh Pollack opens his brick and mortar store, "Rosenberg's Bagel and Delicatessen," I will go there when I'm having a hankering for a good, NY style bagel. Until then, I will probably just get my bagel to go from Gather.

Loved my salad here! Simple, quality ingredients. The menu isn't too extensive but sometimes that's helpful to not have too many choices! Friendly cashier and casual, sit where you want seating. There's a bar, too, if you want some adult beverages!

What an amazing space and the best bagels this side of the US coast! Myself and three other born-and-raised New Yorkers heard that there was a guy using water with the same ph as in NYC to replicate the taste exactly. I don't know if that made a difference or not, but WOW, amazing bagels! We got half a dozen to go, fresh out of the oven, and were amazed at how good they were. The cream cheese came along with the bagels and wasn't the best I've ever had, but the bagels were good enough that they didn't even need anything on them. I love the bar and coffee shop combination -- very chic and modern. My only complaints are limited parking (street only) and the place not being open on Sundays.

Bartender was prompt and had a great personality. Drink prices are pretty standard. Food prices kind of high but sounds like high quality stuff. I just had beers. Unfortunately the crowd is not the same as Galvanize. I unpleasantly got stuck sitting next to a patron who argued that it was "stupid" that women had a startup meetup group that I was attending & "Women already have all the startups! They have Mary Kay and Herbalife!" *eye roll* you kidding me? When I tried to open my mouth to kindly address his comment he interrupted me so loudly & harshly that he spit on me. I wish such poor quality people would not enter such an innovative, forward thinking space. Go to a dive bar up the street where you belong.

I work from home and sometimes find myself in need of a change of scenery, so will gravitate to a coffee shop or bar to work on a Friday afternoon. Gather is designed for someone like me, and I really appreciate it. They are combined with a co-working location called Galvanize that I can't review (but looks super cool) and have a nice seating area with a range of high tables, bar seats, lounge chairs and couches. They have a full cafe, coffee drinks, a full bar, and free wi fi. I can't imagine anything else you might need. I had a turkey club sandwich here the last time and it was perfectly tasty, fresh, and hit the spot. Next time I will try a salad. I don't take a place like this for granted because it's difficult not to feel conspicuous when you plop down somewhere for several hours with your laptop. If you do this, please purchase something so we can continue to enjoy it!

I loved Gather. I stopped there twice in the span of a brief weekend visit to Denver. The first time I visited I had a latte and sesame bagel with veggie cream cheese. The bagels are fantastic--super fresh and I liked that I could grab a mini bagel for a snack instead of filling up. The latte was perfect and worth every penny. They serve high-quality, single-origin coffee that is roasted in Galvanize. My boyfriend had the pour over coffee and liked it so much he had another. He also had a breakfast sandwich (can't remember what was on it) that was made to order which for $5 is a bargain in my book. We also sampled some of the bagel chips which were awesome. My second visit was for lunch and I split two sandwiches and some soup with my boyfriend. We shared the turkey club and the Dusty--both were great. I especially loved the sun-dried tomato pesto on the turkey club. I wasn't sure about the curry tomato soup, but I loved it. Overall, I loved the vibe and spunk of Gather. If I lived in Denver, I would frequent it for breakfast and lunch. Parking in front isn't the best, but we had no trouble parking on a side street less than a block away.

I'm not sure what happened to this place. When they first opened they had delicious pastries, good lattes and tasty lunches. Each time I come back it gets a little worse and today my sandwich was dry and tasteless. I only ate a couple bites of my $11 lunch. Cool space inside, but I'm done with it.

Bagels. They get 4+ stars for the bagels. Otherwise, I'm not entirely sure about Gather. It's an interesting space. Clearly still working out kinks and how they're running things. The bagels are outstanding. I haven't had a bagel that good in forever. The prices though? The prices are high. Sure it's a New York bagel but we live in Denver. We don't want to pay New York prices. I paid a whopping $13 for a drip coffee and a bagel with lox. The bagel had cream cheese and lox. No capers, tomatoes or onions. And for $13 I'm going to expect more of my sandwich. A large coffee is something between a tall and a grande at Starbucks and costs substantially more. Their large latte is almost $6. Wow. My wallet can't handle a bagel sandwich this pricey, nor a coffee at this price...so I'm guessing I won't be back. But everyone should come here at least once to give the bagels a try. And if I can buy the bagels by the dozen or half dozen and it doesn't cost me an arm or a leg then I'm in.

Gather, I'm over you. A friend told me to come to you so I have been trying to do so on several occasions. I live in Westminster so it wasn't easy to just pop in and your hours make it impossible! I finally was able to make it happen so I load my family of 5 into the car and drive down there; having called ahead to confirm that you were open. Imagine my surprise when at 316, you are CLOSED despite the sign on the door saying you were open until 5 and no note indicting otherwise. I'm done, Gather. Apparently you aren't all that interested in customers actually being able to come and see you.
