After reading the great review in the Westword, I was really excited to try this place out. I figured it would be pretty packed on a Sunday morning, but we were 1 of 2 parties in the restaurant at 10am. Despite being dead, we were sat at a dirty table; the centerpiece was literally stuck to the table from syrup. I ordered the chicken & waffles, and my partner got the biscuits and gravy. The chicken resembled shake n bake chx breast; not what I was expecting at all. (I'm not ordering chx & waffles for their health factor, let's be honest). Also, the syrup tasted almost like it had fermented... just a little off. The biscuits were slightly better, but pretty heavy on the paprika. We left both plates half eaten. As a fellow bargain shopper, it's pretty clear all the decorations came from HomeGoods, Ross, or TJMaxx, but it's still super cute inside. But, why is there a couch in the middle of the restaurant? ... do people eat on it? And the bathrooms resemble any bathroom you'd find in a Colfax liquor store; gross and not updated. I'd rather wait 45 minutes at a brunch spot than eat here again with no wait...

Loved the food! I had the Logan sandwich and it was really delicious. However the service was pretty lousy. We were without silverware and water for our entire meal. Had to go inside and ask for it.

My girlfriend and I both really enjoyed this place. We went here for breakfast on a Wednesday morning and received great service! Considering its right off Colfax, this place was quiet and relaxing. The music was soft and soothing, unlike a lot of other popular brunch spots in the area. The portions are GREAT for the price! I had the biscuits and gravy and could barely finish the plate! They have a good assortment of dishes, everything from kale to bacon. Wait staff was very nice and helpful when recommending dishes, and always checked in with us without being pushy. I would highly recommend trying this place if you're in the area but the parking is very limited. Street parking only for what I saw. Pay lot located directly behind the restaurant.

A little slow but not a bad spot to get brunch. Never really had to wait to sit, food is pretty standard but the atmosphere is cool. A place worth checking out for sure.

This place is delicious. Lo-col chicken waffles OMG! Seriously one of the best breakfast places in Denver I crave this place! Highly recommend.

Very cute, but not too much so. Menu had interesting choices and awesome variety, as well as lower priced "normal" meals. Two people with opposite tastes will be happy here. Food was hot and delicious, I just wish the latte mug was a little bigger for the price... :-)

Very nice atmosphere, friendly servers, cool menu with vegetarian and gluten free options - a great addition to the neighborhood. We had breakfast the first week it was open ... the kitchen execution isn't as good as it should be yet - but I gave it 4 stars as I have high hopes! The ingredients used are tasty and high quality - I appreciate being able to get some kale with my breakfast. Coffee is superb. The prices are a bit higher than other places nearby but the atmosphere and quality ingredients make it well worth the extra buck or two. My breakfast, a vegetarian hash served with eggs and, was delicious but a bit overcooked and I realized later (after we'd left) that the cook had left out the goat cheese. The other glitch was our waiter didn't seem to know what was included with breakfast, you know, like toast... But these are minor matters typical of the first week. I'm glad Fork & Spoon is here and expect to return often.

We were looking for a brunch place and randomly walked in as the place looked intriguing. When we entered we were greeted by a server and seated at one of the booths. We ordered drinks and placed our food order. They gave us some water but that is all we received. After about 20 minutes and asking twice for our beverages, our server told us they were out of one of the ingredients to make one of the drinks (which tells me that is when they started to make the drink). After waiting that long we ended up leaving. Service was quite poor. Servers seemed grumpy and disengaged. Place seemed unkept as tables sat dirty with wash rags left on tables. Wish we could have tried the food but didn't get to and won't be back. There's too many options in Denver for lack luster service. Sad for something that's so new.

Great spot for breakfast. I had their version of huevos rancheros and they were delicious. Super friendly waitress and great service.

I love CityGrille, I love breakfast/brunch, and I love a greasy spoon. So when the City Grille started this spin off from it's normal brunch offerings just right next door to its Colfax location, I added to our list of to-do brunch spots. Then a Groupon came out and we moved on it. High hopes were quickly dashed when we walked in to one of the dirtiest restaurants I've encountered. The new, trendy furniture is overshadowed by a floor that seemingly hasn't been cleaned in years. For real, our feet literally stuck to the floor. The high-top dining counter that lines the front windows had chunks of dirty, mud, and dust the size of ping-pong balls under the chairs. Our server brought out a highchair for our son, but it was covered in jelly and grime and we decided to just keep him on our lap after making an unsuccessful attempt at cleaning it ourselves. Our server, albeit friendly, was dripping sweat the whole time and kept wiping his face with his hand and then wiping his hand on his shirt. All of these things combined had us questioning what the kitchen looks like if the dining room was so dirty. I'm no germaphobe but the whole thing was so unappetizing. And then our food came out. The four of us all agreed that everything tasted like char. As if it were overcooked and scraped off a griddle that hadn't been cleaned in weeks. A few bites and a fleeting appetite, and we were done. Sad too as this could be a fine place if they would just clean it up.

We've been here twice. Not a fan. We walked out the second time after we discovered the heat was off all night and just turned on. It was 58 degrees inside and almost the same outside. They just kept telling us not to worry and that it would warm up. We decided to leave anyway and they still charged me $3 for one cup of coffee.

The.Huevo Rancheros was delish! The best I've ever tasted. My husband was quite pleased with his choice - the Colorado Benedict. It's always a treat to find a good tasting Hollandaise and this one fit the bill. Also, the service was outstanding. Just wish this place was in our neighborhood but we'll definitely be back.

The first test of a good breakfast is the coffee. Fork & Spoon delivered with a great cup of java followed by delicious breakfast choices. My meal, the Washington Hash, had fresh veges and a delicious chili mole sauce that was very tasty but not spicy. A co-worker ordered the huevos. The presentation was beautiful and the meal was reported as wonderful. I definitely recommend this spot for breakfast.

I'm kind of surprised at the high ratings this place seems to have gotten. I went in for lunch and got a "Logan" sandwich. It was mostly apple wedges and cheese, with the smallest amount of chicken breast possible thrown in there. It cost $10, which I feel is far too much for a sandwich of that size. It also came with a portion of pasta salad which was actually quite good. If you're looking for a good spot to eat, and cost is not an issue, then I would recommend this place. If you're looking for good food at a reasonable price, I'd check elsewhere.

The service was slow and the good had no taste. I had the breakfast burrito, it didn't have any flavor to it. I think it needed more spice or something. Everything was didn't finish there breakfast either. I was so disappointed. The restaurant set up is really cute. I don't plan on going back.

Went for the first time on Monday and was pleasantly surprised with the overall experience. The servers were prompt and friendly, and the food was pretty darn good. I got the veggie benny and it was delish. The décor is a bit funky but that's okay. I would definitely recommend this place to others.

The decor is welcoming, the music is amazing, the servers are friendly and accommodating and the grilled cheese is BOMB! The coffee is locally brewed and some of the best in town. I've been back several times and have thoroughly enjoyed every visit to this bright spot on an otherwise bleak block of Colfax.

I'm surprised on any comments saying the food was good at this place. The service was fine. Drinks and food came out quickly and everyone was friendly. Unfortunately, the food was awful. I was with 2 other people and we all ordered different dishes and each didn't like what we had ordered. Two of the savory dishes were sweet, which was odd. The other dish hardly had any meat in it and it completely left out one of the other ingredients listed in the description. The food definitely needs to improve at this place if they want to keep up with any other brunch places in the area.

I told myself today that I would finally remember to take a picture of my food to post with the overdue review of this place I had also told myself I would write. I forgot again, of course, but at least it was for the best possible reason! It wasn't until I was already knee deep in my AMAZING pork tamales, one of today's specials, that I remembered about my photo pledge. By that time I had done such a job on my tamales that the picture wouldn't have done them their delicious, delicious justice. This is pretty much what happens every time I eat at this place, so I'll consider it a success if I never upload a picture of my breakfast. The food is always delicious without fail, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the ambiance is welcoming. Their coffee is from the Espresso Smith Coffee Company, and it's the best! I'm normally disappointed when I visit a breakfast joint and my meal is accompanied by a watery brown cup of coffee that's a disgrace to the beverage's name, but not here! The coffee is wonderful, and your tastebuds will be thankful. If you want to find a charming, reasonably priced breakfast place to frequent, don't pass on giving Fork & Spoon a shot! I left this morning with my tummy happy, and I'm so glad to have this place in the neighborhood.

This place is cute and they get an extra star for effort. I passed by and decided to stop in for lunch the other day. First things first, it was soooo HOT! Stay as far away from the windows as you can! I spent a few minutes trying to figure out if there was AC anywhere, but couldn't tell if the movement of the chandelier was from an air vent or the open door to the patio. The service was okay. They seemed like they were trying but were overwhelmed. I had two people bring water, but later on one of the waitresses came by and took one of the full waters away. That would normally be fine, except they never filled up my water again after they brought my food, so I was parched while eating and left hoping I wouldn't choke. I ordered a salad. It was okay. The flavor was a little off. It almost tasted like they sugared it instead of salting it. It was also way over priced. I might give breakfast a try here sometime, but I doubt I'll be back for lunch.

Average breakfast spot. $10 bottomless mimosas and bloody mary's for two are two drinks they offer. The bloody mary for two lacks in what the smaller bloody has, seasoning and zing! Order the small one or the big one and theyre both good. The waffle sandwich with chicken is small but good. The Chorizo looked dank and my girlfriend made me eat the rest of hers. She really twisted my arm! Just kidding it was so good I ended up eating most of it even though I was full #fatlife.

All in all a great experience all around! I will definitely be back! :)

I try a lot of places through Groupon or Living Social. I'm up for most anything, but my time and money are valuable so I use Yelp primarily as my screen before buying a coupon. It has served me well so I thought I should add to the conversation... Sadly my first review is disappointing. Frankly, even at the discounted price this was not worth it. The service was quite poor... terse, unfriendly, ineffective (did not bother to give us the specials list or even discuss them with us) and inattentive. We had to wait a long time for coffee, and then longer for iced tea. When these were empty, we had to ask to get them filled... not as soon as we emptied them mind... but after they sat empty awhile. In fact, the iced tea never got refilled. And the food. My wife had the fork and spoon benny... ho hum... maybe just not the right day. So let's move on to my chicken and waffles. Picked a bad place to try this oft tempting menu option. I didn't finish it and certainly would not take leftovers of such a poor meal home. Anyone who knows me likes (or hates) my mantra... "waste not, want not"... so yeah, leaving food on a plate says a lot for me. Some parts of the chicken could not be cut with a knife and most of it took hard work to cut and chew. Add to this the place was not all that clean and really, I might be being generous with two stars.

Awesome restaurant. I got the biscuits and gravy and was very impressed. Everyone else at my table got either the breakfast burrito or the chicken and waffles. Everyone was super impressed with the food and the amazing waitress. Great small place, it has a relaxed atmosphere, and has amazing food. Definitely a hidden gem of Denver.

My guy and I went here for breakfast on a Saturday and were seated right away. Our server was very friendly and gave good suggestions. I like to share a sweet & savory with my guy. We got the Lafayette Stuffed French Toast - stuffed with fresh fruit and cream cheese and a healthy-ish omelet and both were so good. Really good coffee too.

Hello?! You can get a breakfast sandwich on a waffle. They have a sign defining the word "hangry." They serve biscuits and gravy, stuffed French toast, chicken and waffles, salads, and sandwiches. Their coffee creamer comes in adorable little milk jugs The staff is super nice. They deliver! I mean what else could I possible want from a Colfax breakfast joint? Even with a smaller menu I had a tough time deciding on my breakfast choice, but I did enjoy my meal and the tough choices make me interested in returning again to order something new and different. The inside isn't overly large, but it is cozy and I really enjoyed my breakfast here.

Simple and effective. It wasn't the best meal I've ever had but we had the blueberry waffle breakfast sandwich and it was good. The service was above average, our waitress was really nice but as an out of towner we had way better meals while visiting Denver.

I'm giving Fork &Spoon an extra star for personality. My husband and I came here on a random Monday morning before we started doing errands. We were the only ones there and had our pick of tables. The dining room was freezing! Our server was very cool! Shortly after he turned the heat up I realized we were right under a vent. They were playing 80's music which was really fun. The decor is pretty interesting, I especially liked the dog parking out front :) The food was just okay. I may have built this place up too much driving by it on the way downtown all week, but I was expecting an OPH-esque waffle but got something much different. They do use real butter here, so that's a plus. Maybe I'll order something different next time, and have a better impression of the food, but currently it doesn't live up to the space and awesome service!

Came here for breakfast, great little diner with good meal options. I got The Politician and liked that it came with a coffee and well-priced. The potatoes were oddly overly spicy but tasted good otherwise. Be careful sitting looking out the window, it can get really hot with the sun.

I walk by this place every day on my way to work, and I finally stopped in today for the much-advertised vanilla honey latte. It was delish, and it's $4 for a coffee the same size as whatever a large is called at Starbucks. Muffins were also super yummy, and everyone working there is so nice! Still have to try out their breakfast/lunchmenu, but this seems like a great place for any meal. It's warm and cozy with plenty of seating and great decor. I'll definitely be back! For dog owners - they have a place to park your dog next to the patio (although it's too cold for that now) and also have dog treats in the entryway. So thoughtful!

I've been looking for something between a greasy spoon and a ridiculous hour-long wait too-upscale brunch place, and this is definitely it. I had a small waffle breakfast for $4.95 with a waffle, perfectly fried egg, and a piece of bacon plus some excellent coffee for like $2 and I was very impressed. The owner makes her own palisades peach jam and it was so good that I bought a jar to take home. I'll be living here on he weekends now, thanks.

Great basic breakfast foods, taken up a few notches. Homemade jam and great lattes. I had the fork Bennie and it was delicious! Make sure to get the biscuits too, big enough to feed two or one hangery person :) plus pleasant helpful staff, can't go wrong!

Just like the previous reviewer, I too have been waiting anxiously to see what restaurant would take over the space that Taki's used to occupy. My experience however was quite different. The service there was excellent! All of the servers were very attentive without being overbearing. My food was quite delicious! I had a breakfast hash that included red potatoes, apples, and kale, and was topped with two fried eggs. My food was seasoned perfectly. My coffee was also pretty exceptional, and the servers there kept it nice and hot. The location itself is very nicely decorated. Honestly I can see myself spending quite a bit of time here, both eating and drinking coffee while I do homework. I am so happy to see this new place on Colfax close to where I live. I will be back at this location time and time again trying all of their delicious food and enjoying their fantastic coffee and service!!

  • Ricardo S.

I really like this place! I was a little ambivalent because I used to visit this location when it was Taki's Sushi, but today my friends and I visited for brunch and it was great! The food was tasty and the bottomless mimosas were great for a boozy brunch. I was very impressed by the menu, (I also like how it had to do with local Denver landmarks, I had the "Ogden Salad"). You will definitely see us in there again!

First time here and it is a nice place downtown for breakfast. It's an older place but is kept very clean. The staff are friendly and helpful as well. Had the Washington but their hash looked really good. I'm trying that when I'm in Denver next.

Small place with a great atmosphere and excellent food! The salmon benedict was divine, and the smoky, roasted potatoes heavenly. The brioche french toast was also mighty tasty. Overall, a great treat. I just wish we didn't have to circle the block to find parking on the street!

    (4)
  • Bethany M.

We came for the brunch. We ordered eggs benedict and the breakfast burrito, and the presentation for both was very nice, and tasted great as well. The guy who served us was very very nice, very concerned about the quality of our food and service, and wanted us to have a great experience. My only complaint is that he was TOO concerned, and was leaning all over our table while talking to us. Otherwise, nice place and we will definitely be back to explore some other things on the menu.

Ordered my first biscuits and gravy here and was blown away!! Only wish I would have asked for extra gravy! Asked for their homemade jam on the side-- raspberry was one I think and the other was apricot and was very, very pleased! Our service was fast, my water glass was never empty, and the waitress was friendly and engaging while also being efficient and accurate in her work. Love this place and would come here daily if I could

  • Frances G.

For a quaint, easy going breakfast spot, this little diddy has got all the right stuff. Endless pours of their housemade coffee, quirky decor, and sturdy breakfast dishes - like Lox and Bagel to a hearty hash. Though the staple breakfast items were there, there was a tiny twist to most of them. Like, my hash for example - instead of your typical fried and stringy potatoes that usually makes the 'hash' - it had baby kale, red potatoes, apples, mushrooms, kale, peppers and goat cheese, and topped with eggs (seasoned with salt, pepper and dill) the way you want. It was truly an innovative meal whose creativity was matched in yumminess, and hey - healthiness too!

I've been watching the space where Taki's used to be, excited to find out what restaurant will take over the beloved Japanese restaurant space. Unfortunately, it appears to be another fancy breakfast/lunch spot in an area somewhat saturated with them and one that doesn't compare very well with its competition. It's not that Fork & Spoon is bad. My "Logan" sandwich with chicken, apples, bacon and goat cheese was perfectly fine. At $10 it was also a little pricy, especially since it wasn't particularly large and the side was a small cup of olive-filled pasta salad (I really dislike olives so my fault for not checking. You can also get German potato salad or a bag of chips). Next door at City Grille, you can get a similar chicken sandwich for the same price with more substantial fries or cole slaw. But all in all, I guess the two places are similar for lunch. At breakfast however, Fork & Spoon reveals itself to be quite overpriced even for notoriously overpriced fancy breakfast joint standards. The eggs Benedict is $12. At either Jelly or DJ's, the same dish is $9-10 and of similar quality (in fact you can get even fancier Benedicts at both places for about the same price as the regular one at F&S). The burrito at Fork&Spoon is $10 which is much more expensive than breakfast burritos you can get even at fancy breakfast places. And of course Tom's Diner is only two blocks away and has prices much lower than any of the fancy breakfast joints. I understand that a just-opened business might have a hard time figuring out their prices and the food and decor and service I had were all fine. But in light of the nearby competition, I doubt I would return unless the prices went down.

Funny ambience, good music, super-cool staff, and pretty good food. The breakfast burrito was good, if not great. My wife only ate half her waffle, but I really enjoyed the other half. My biggest complaint was that the dining room was probably 50 degrees when we walked in, but they fixed that soon after seeing us. Fork and Spoon didn't blow me away, but it's definitely good enough to give it another shot.

Love this place. Mary waited on me (and some cute guy with a red hat) and she was helpful and quick and they were really busy. The food was great, best iced coffee I have had in a long time!! This is my new brunch spot :)

Okay the food is not that bad but it is really greasy not in an enjoyable way! Our experience; hair in water, coffee grinds in the latte and all over the tip of the Cup, 35 min waiting for food and rude staff, watered bloody mary with a TON of horseradish. The actual food might have been a 3* not too bad but the service is awful. Wish this wasnt the case...

The first time I ate here I got some green chili scrambled egg special that was fairly good. That was months ago and I decided to come back for take-out since it's a three minute walk from the office. The biscuits and gravy are not at all good. The biscuit was like a hockey puck (I looked like a lunatic at my desk, stabbing the damn thing with a fork and wrestling to get a bit sized chunk off, cursing under my breath) the sausage gravy was tasteless and the potatoes weren't good, either. Maybe the good cook works on Sundays? This could be all my fault for ordering breakfast food at 1PM. I also tried the Logan sandwich a few days later, hoping to have better luck with lunch food. Nope. It was pretty greasy and flavorless. One of the servers here is pretty awesome, though - super friendly! I'm adding another star because of him.

Went here for breakfast had never been but had a groupon. Small space but nice. Waiter was very nice. As we were he first customers of the morning I can't say how busy it gets. I had the huevos rancheros smothered with green chili (not spicy but tasty) BIG chunks of steak in there...so good and my gf had a veggie breakfast burrito (also smothered). We will go back. Note: the website says that they open @ 7am...they actually don't open until 8.

The menu is impressive and enticing, but the food doesn't necessarily follow through. The $9 bottomless mimosas definitely get the job done. The food is hit or miss. The stuffed french toast and the biscuits and gravy did not hit the spot. The french toast had a really weird texture, was kind of dry and too eggy. The gravy on the biscuits was very thin and also they did not give you enough, as the biscuits were also dry. The breakfast potatoes were delicious, and I had friends who enjoyed their ruben and salmon salad. Our waitress was also friendly and prompt despite a packed place.

Didn't love this place. Went for brunch. The food was just ok. It felt more like a diner than a Capitol Hill breakfast cafe. The spicy syrup on the chicken and waffles was interesting. Kind of good interesting. Breakfast sandwich was just ok. Won't go back to this place.

I have no idea why, but this place gave me the impression that it was a coffee and pastries place that is always empty. That is not the case at all! It is a delicious breakfast place that was very busy for Saturday brunch. They have your typical breakfast foods with a few different, innovative options. They have alcoholic breakfast drinks and really good in-house jam.

Went here for lunch 3/3/15 @ noon. I complained to the manager about customer(s) in the place using e-cigarettes and/or other illegal e-vapor devices. It is ILLEGAL in Colorado to use any of these devices in a 100% smoke-free public venue. The vapor smell disgusted me and ruined my entire meal! The meal itself was very underwhelming. I got a giant biscuit with scrambled eggs and bacon. The bacon was excessively dry to the point of being powdery. The biscuit had a strange fishy odor which it may have come from the oven where they were baked. I really have nothing good to say about this place.

I seriously had to step out mid-meal to get some fresh air because it was as hot as the Sahara in there. They need proper ventilation in order to be comfortable enough to enjoy a meal. The space is rather small but decorated very cute with a small patio. The food was decent except my bacon was drenched and dripping in sausage grease and therefore tasted like sausage flavored bacon. Unfortunate my first experience wasn't what I had hoped, considering I brought family who was in town visiting here for their first meal after picking them up from DIA. If I hadn't just moved away I would still give this place another try.

Love this place! The service is always super friendly and the food is always delicious. I've been here a number of times for breakfast, brunch, and lunch and it's one of my new favorite brunch spots for sure. The patio is cute and cozy, perfect for a lazy day of drinking. The inside is great too, bright and airy, but I have an unholy love for patios. Favorite item I've had thus far is probably the Logan, the marinade used is fantastic and I was pleasantly surprised by the balance the apples bring to the sandwich. Although the corned beef hash is also amaaaaazing. The portions are enormous, and well worth the price. I think the most expensive item on the menu is like $12, so not sure what the other reviewers are complaining about there. If you can't be bothered to spend $10, don't go to a sit-down restaurant. Even with bottomless mimosas, I've never paid more than $20 for brunch, and I leave full (and sufficiently buzzed) every time.
