I spent about five-hours of the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend here drinking a few beers, and playing shuffleboard with friends. They have some really great beers on tap, so I already know I'll be going back. I tried the ghost fries, which were good, but my mouth was en fuego after eating those suckers. This made me thirsty, which afforded me the opportunity to drink more. Hooray! Then came Lucy. Juicy Lucy, that is. The Juicy Lucy is a cheeseburger made of a cheddar stuffed patty, topped with an additional slice of cheese. I love cheeseburgers, and this is definitely one of the best in Denver. You bite into it, and stretchy, delicious cheddar comes oozing out with each bite. This burger was the freaking bomb-sauce! I've never given more than four stars for a great burger, but I had a lot of fun here, loved the beer selection, and the waitresses were very attentive. I will return regularly for a whole lotta Lucy, and beer.

My absolute favorite bar in the highlands area. The food is fresh and great quality and the beer selection is excellent. We also love the shuffle board and ping pong. Highly recommend this bar to anyone looking for a great burger and beer!

Cool bar in a somewhat sketchy neighborhood but it made up for it in other ways. Good, expansive menu. ( BTW-Try the deviled eggs you won't be disappointed. ) The wait staff was pretty attentive. Overall, I recommend you give it a whirl. Compliments the mystery bartenter that made a spectacularly mind blowing dirty martini.

I'm tempted to give this the fourth star bump, purely based on the reason that they have ping pong, shuffle board, and a nice steel tip dartboard. The only thing that holding me back is... Well, I can't really put my finger on it. The food was A-OK. The service was fast enough, and A-OK. The cleanliness and ambiance was A-OK. The prices, compared to other fare on Federal Blvd. were slightly higher, but they're not trying to be a burrito shop, so I guess that's A-OK as well. Here's my tips for management to get that 4th star, maybe even a fifth: 1. 'Happy Hour' didn't really make me all that happy. It was a dollar off pints. Whoopee. When a $5 dollar pint becomes $4? Big deal. Go 2-4-1, or offer a $3 dollar pint of the day. A $2 buck PBR draft all the time would bring me in regularly, and because my gal drinks the more expensive stuff because she has taste, you still make good margins. 2. String up some lights on the patio outside, for crying out loud. Enjoying a beer and a meal under the yellowy-orange glow of a street lights is lame. That patio area could rock, with a few simple improvements. That is all. I have spoken!

Now that I'm a permanent "local" I've been coming to Federal a lot more, and the changes they've made over the last 6 months warrant a better rating. Federal's beer list has definitely improved; last year they had way too many expensive drafts ($8-$12 range) and now it's rare to see anything over $7 and $5-$6 is the norm. The selection is still really good however, and it's constantly changing. While I wouldn't necessarily call them a "beer bar" they do have a better selection than most in the immediate area. Food is still inconsistent. Some days we have really good meals, and others are just okay. Wouldn't call them a destination food joint, but if you're stopping in for a few drinks, you won't be disappointed with the offering. We stick with the sandwiches mostly, but word from others is that the burgers are solid as well. Highlights are trivia night (Grumpier Old Men...we're coming for you...eventually) and happy hour with food & drink specials.

This is one of my new favorite places! No hipsters (sorry, not sorry), just regular folk drinking good beer and not being jerks about it. Also, the burgers are a virtuoso performance - try the Chuckwagon with blue cheese. You will not be disappointed.

  • Stephanie L.

This place is so unassuming from the outside but such a pleasure when you walk in. A very welcome addition to the neighborhood. I am a fan of their burgers. My husband always gets the Chuckwagon. (onion rings ON the burger? Sure!) I've had the Med @ the Fed. To be honest, though, my favorite sandwich is the Turkey. It has brie, apples and lingonberry jam. And it's real turkey - carved off a turkey breast, not lunch meat. They also do fresh potato chips and I am a sucker for those. Impressive beer list as well. My only complaint about the Fed is that it is SO loud in there. Maybe I am just getting old but holy cow I am always screaming to talk to my dining companions.

I came here in hopes of good food and and beers....I'm happy to say the beer and service was great but the food was A-OK. My friend and I came here on a Friday night and were seated quickly close to the back (which I enjoyed). After looking at Yelp reviews I wanted to try to Kim Chee burger and asked the server how hot it would be. She told me the Kim Chee was made in house and it was more of a slaw. I agreed. The burger was blah. I don't enjoy anything too spicy, but the Kim Chee didn't taste like anything other than cole slaw. The 3 stars comes from the good variety of beers, good service and decent parking lot.

This is one of my favorite bars in the neighborhood. Great rotating beer selection, awesome food, and great service. The decor gives the place a one of a kind feel. It seems like we can always get the seat we're looking for (booth, bar, table), the beer we need, and the food to satisfy any spicy food lovers appetite. They do spice right. Not so hot it burns your face off, but hot enough to enjoy the taste (but still need that sip of beer to wash it down). For someone who loves spice but still likes to taste food, they have is the perfect balance. The food never disappoints, but I have a few items I get every time. If you like fries, get the Ghost Fries and be ready for the heat, (but worth every bite). The Wings are awesome. We get the hot buffalo (see paragraph above on theory of spicy). The Deviled Eggs are a good way to cut the heat and enjoy some eggs done right. All of their dipping sauces are awesome, but my fav is the horseradish sour cream. What makes this place one of my favorites to watch the game is the strategic placement of TVs. There isn't a bad spot in the house, and you don't miss a second of the game as you move throughout the place. Great food, great beer, great service...just a great place.

I'm going to give this place the benefit of the doubt b/c I feel it's more along the lines of 3.5 but feeling a little generous. I have been here a couple times. The service has been hit or miss. I had the breakfast burger here, partly b/c it sounded intriguing and partly b/c it was nearly noon! I thought it did the job with the taste and filling me up. The other time I had a pretzel and a beer and although it's not really a dish it was still damn good! It has that local feel and it seems to me that if I hang out there more that I'd know most of the people there. It's sort of nice to have a place like that near home and it's probably because no one has discovered how much this area is growing and what it has to offer yet.

Solid burgers, good fries. Ghost pepper fries are very good, not really that hot. Beer list is mute than adequate. Good attentive wait staff.

This place is top notch. Service was great. Food was great. Beer selection was great. It seemed like the staff and guests were all best friends, even us first-timers. Solid atmosphere and good vibes. We'll be back!

Went for Saturday brunch - Great $2 mimosas, friendly servers and awesome atmosphere. Definitely recommend the eggs Benedict - we upgraded to pork belly and it was worth it. :)

If you want to call in a to go order, ya can't. They don't answer the phone and you can't be redirected. Oh well, We'll miss having the Cesar with chix and the salmon salad tonight. :(

After a massive workout, I really felt the need to load up on some carbs. I figured this place was right down the street and has decent reviews, so why not give it a go. Walked into the place and the bartender (brunette woman) was really personable and attentive. Sadly, she's about the only thing that was positive. I placed a to-go order, which I'm sure some of you will believe was part of the issue. Let me assure you, it was not. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich with fries, the pretzel, and a side of blue cheese dressing. The order took almost an entire 1/2 hour to prepare... even though there were only two other people waiting on food. About halfway through the wait, one of the kitchen staff walked in with a bunch of Safeway bags. Maybe that had something to do with it? So the buffalo sauce was Frank's brand. The chicken was overcooked. The slaw on top of it was from a bag. The hoagie roll seemed fresh. The pretzel was the same brand of pretzels that I buy from Costco... only I get about 20 more servings for the same price. The cheese sauce was light yellow processed stuff with a bunch of canned jalapenos that somehow managed to have no heat and no taste. But the major issue.... Considering how long I was waiting for this sad excuse of a restaurant meal, I sat down to a box full of severely under-cooked fries. I mean so under-cooked that they looked like a handful of shiny mushy worms crawling around the box. Luckily I know how to use an oven, and I finished cooking them through myself. I could have made this same exact meal myself for under $5, in half the time, and it would have been cooked properly the first time around.

After 4+ years of comfortable "yelpie"-hood, this is the first place that has moved me to actually write a review. So to dip my reviewer's toe in I'll keep it short... First: try the Ghost Fries (with jalapeño ranch if you're a bit of a masochist). They really ARE that delicious. Second: almost anything on the menu can be made gluten free...they even have a separate fryer, and special recipes for battered items, as well as a pretty decent gluten free bun. And this is a big deal for those of us needing some good gluten free bar food. In summation, Federal is a corner bar that is a very welcome addition to the Jefferson/Highlands neighborhood.

Visited on 1/29 for lunch. What a great little RR and Bar. The bartender/waitress was friendly and funny. She was on top of her game and you could tell she truly loved working there. The food was outstanding, I had the Salmon sandwich-Wow!!! The area is really changing!

One of my favorite places to grab a burger in denver. The burgers and ghost fries are solid five star options, as are the wings and their beer selection is also great. The atmosphere is on the bland side, keeping it from a fifth star. They have trivia and an extended happy hour Tuesday nights - well worth a visit!

Will never go back. My friend and I had the Quinoa salad - big mistake! It was terrible! Neither one of us finished it, and now we're both feeling sick to our stomach - bad choice!!

  • Victoria C.

Solid neighborhood bar with better food than you'd expect. Ghost fries are as good as the hype. Sweet potato fries as well. The jalapeño ranch dipping sauce is a great contrast in spicy and cooling. Burgers have good variety on a solid base. And can sub whatever fries you like. Warm power salad is better than just "girl friendly bar food." It's actually really tasty! The other salads weren't as awesome but they do the job too. Chicken wings with chipotle BBQ is my favorite sauce. The chicken bites are from good pieces of chicken breast, but overall a bit bland. Good happy hour deals and fun light-hearted trivia on Tuesdays. And free popcorn from the machine in the back! Yay:)

Don't be fooled by the exterior, this is a low key great neighborhood bar. The new patio is a much welcomed addition!

  • Matt E.

Nice bar for the area. Good amount of beers on tap with lots of options/varieties to select from. From my experience they seem to change up the taps pretty often. Lots of bottle options too. The food is above average generally speaking. I've tried several different thing on the menu and have been pleased overall. The pretzel app sounded great (perfect compliment to a beer, right?) but I'm pretty sure it's a frozen pretzel you can get at the grocery store. Other options like the wings or burgers are great though. They also have a popcorn maker in the back you can serve yourself from, which is awesome! They are currently adding a patio so looking forward to some outside seating!

Once again, I'm stuck in the half star limbo. I'd like to give 3.5 stars, but will have to settle with a 3. They have a pretty good list of beers on tap, in addition to that they have cans/bottles you can try out too. Not to mention a full bar and several wines. I wish there were more IPAs to choose from, but that's just personal preference, and I'm sure they have a rotating tap list. The wings were pretty good - not the best I've had, but definitely not the worst - they have several flavors to choose from too, so whatever mood you're in, they probably have something that will appeal to you. The interior was sports bar-esq, so it was slightly bland for my taste, but they do have shuffleboard and ping pong. The bartender was nice too, and checked in often. There was just nothing that really blew me away. I'll probably be back if I'm in the area, but I won't seek it out.

First, this place is about 5 steps nice on the inside than it looks on the outside. Oh, and they have parking so that's awesome. We stopped in here to meet up with friends. I don't like beer but friends were pretty over the moon with the beer selection. We got the pretzels, fries, chicken bites and deviled eggs all of which came to about $24 before booze. In the words of my husband, "Their creativity outweighs there culinary skills...but I applaud the effort." The deviled eggs had olives in them which is...you know...creative. The fries and chicken had options of about 20 different sauces which is also...creative. Overall, it was ok I'm just not sure I'd rave about it.

I've been to this place twice in the last 2 weeks. It's seriously good- and especially at this price point. Both times, I've gotten a chicken burger, where you can make your own combinations ( I always add avocado and bacon to everything) and add sweet potato fries. Everything is delicious and the creative homemade dipping sauces are off the hook. Tonight I had the horseradish/sour cream, and the jalapeno/ranch. Last week I had the ghost sauce which is almost like a spicy/tangy curry sauce. It's a great little find. It's only a matter of time before everyone discovers it, and it's an hour wait like every place up the road on a Saturday night. Another great meal with the total bill of $9.75 each (no beer). awesome.

We've been a fan of the Fed since it opened. We've known the owner since he was general manager at Billy's Inn. The food is approachable (hamburgers, sandwiches, salads) but with some great twists (kimchee burgers, lamb sloppy joe sliders, pork belly salad). My wife and I are a fan of the burgers -- her favorite is the Med at the Fed (but she is working her way through all of the burgers on the menu) while I love the Juicy Lucy. The beer list is great and filled with local specialties. I also can't say enough about the atmosphere -- Christopher and Nicky are great hosts, I love the laid back energy of the restaurant but appreciate how nicely the food is prepared. Finally -- the Federal's brunch can't be beat! Great dishes including a quinoa dish my wife raves about. I prefer the Gringo Scramble or the North Denver Scramble (and I appreciate the tribute to the neighborhood). The Federal's Bloody Mary's are fantastic (just don't order them extra spicy like my buddy who sweated through the rest of the meal) and the Greyhounds are made with fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. Can't recommend a trip to the Federal Bar & Grill enough.

My go to restaurant, especially when I don't know dietary restrictions of people joining me as they have great gluten-free and vegetarian options (all "burgers" can be made gluten-free, chicken, or Portobello mushrooms). The idea of PBJ wings surprised me the first time and now it is one of my favorites - the wings are covered in Thai peanut sauce. Also love all of the burgers, but The Med @ The Fed is my favorite. I'm surprised about the reviews that don't like the pretzels. I love them as they and the cheese are exactly like what you get in New York city, which is my favorite kind of pretzel. I like the beer selection and how it changes regularly so I get to try different beers every time I go.

Good first impression! It's not a huge place but just about right. Service was friendly and attentive. Happy hour all day on Tuesdays! Get the pretzel! Burgers are good but nothing special. They have a few interesting toppings. Fries are typical. No frills here, just good bar food and decent beer selections. Definitely a place I'd go back to or at least fit into the "rotation" : )

I would like to begin this review with the positive and then go into the negative. The Federal is super close to my house and we used to go there all of the time. There is free popcorn and the ghost fries are amazing. There are also a lot of craft brews on tap. It has darts which is awesome and it is very clean inside with nice wood floors. That being said I will never go back to this bar again and neither will any of my roommates (which is a shame because we loved it and we live less than a block away). We had a very bitter breakup with the owner. We were super stoked one thursday evening to go into the federal and play on their new ping pong table. We ordered a beer and asked for the ping pong stuff. While we were waiting for the bartender to tend us, one of the roommates went into the back of the bar to gently move the ping pong table away from where the people were playing darts. The bartender said that there couldnt be people playing darts and ping pong at the same time. We thought that this was a weird rule but we were polite and went with it. Our roommate got back and found out about this rule and we were all prepared to wait until the other customers got finished playing darts. In the meantime the owner of the bar came by us and absolutley shamed us. He walked around the ping pong table in a fury going from one side to the other for about three minutes -he took the net of the table down and examined the table. He then came over to us and yelled at us for moving the ping pong table and told us that it would be another hour or two until we could play because he had to "level the table". We got our check and walked out the door feeling like scolded second graders. We will never return. And that sucks.

I came on a Saturday for a buddy's birthday night out, burgers seemed to fit the bill and one of my friends suggested it. The joint looks small on the outside but there's a decent amount of room inside. There were very few people dining. while we were there. Our server was friendly and prompt, and the beer list was impressive. We started with an order of chicken wings with buffalo sauce and one of the pork wings with green chili. Obviously it's the sauce that makes the dish when it comes to these. The buffalo sauce was standard, the green chili was extremely mild and not terribly flavorful. We each ordered a burger. My main gripe was that I ordered it medium-rare and got well done. This is very irritating and it's a huge difference in taste. I told the server about it but I decided to simply deal with it rather than try to send it back, as in my experience it isn't cooked right the second time either, and I was hungry and my friends were already eating. The burgers themselves were small, which doesn't bother me as we don't need massive portions of food, but overall there was nothing special about them. The patties weren't particularly flavorful or seasoned, and the bun was just thick enough to overpower the taste of the meat. They do offer a ghost chili salt that is original if not terribly spicy which complimented the fries nicely. Overall there was nothing about any of the food we tried that will make me rush to come back. Since it's mainly burgers served I would expect the burgers to have something special about them to stand above. Unfortunately this was not the case.

The Federal Bar and Grill has replaced Mead Street Station as my neighborhood haunt. A good selection of craft beers, combined with an excellent menu and peaceful atmosphere make the Federal the go-to place to hang out with your friends and family. I absolutely love the Ghost Fries, as well as their onion rings. The service is great.

Post game dinner and beers on Sunday and this place was packed - not that I was shocked. We were able to grab a seat at the long table in the middle facing the bar so we could watch the 2nd game of the day. The waitress came over and took our drink orders and we started looking at the menu. We decided to start with an order of wings and then figure out other stuff after the fact. I thought the wings were good the chicken was tender and not over cooked or too small like other places I have been to. After we polished those off we waited for a bit and then decided to split a burger. We chatted about our options to go on the burger and the 1st thing out of both of our mouths was bacon, then cheese and a fried egg for good measure. The bacon made the burger as far as I was concerned. It was 2 types - applewood smoked and a spicier one (for the life of me I can't remember the name of it). It was cooked perfectly and smoking hot when she brought it to the table. Our waitress is what made the experience even better as far as I'm concerned. For as busy as it was and the fact that she was dealing with a bunch of crazies that came from the game (not us of course....) she was on it. Clearing the table, checking up on us making sure that our drinks and waters were in good shape. She was really friendly and rolled with the punches. It was a great time with one of my favorite dudes after an equally great day! I'm glad I was introduced to this place and I am pretty sure that I will come back.

Most decent place to go close to the Bronco stadium. Nicer on the inside than it is on the outside! Service was spot on! Happy hour was decent, a lot of food choices and beer choices for your typical HH prices....... Why knock off 2 stars? The food. I had fish and chips, yuck. Friend had Mac and cheese, was ok. Jalapeno poppers were so spicy hot even the one person at the table that can usually handle hot couldn't even eat them. Honestly I would have driven further for better. PS bathrooms are nice and clean

At the Federal they have done a great job of coming up with different ideas for the usual bar menu. Twists on salad and burgers that you can't get anywhere else in the neighborhood. Try the thai peanut butter and lingonberry jam chicken wings. I get em everytime!

We live close to the Fed and was excited to see the old "Mickey Manor" become a bar/restaurant. Much needed in this part of town. It has a good selection of micro brews and wine, etc....The staff is super friendly and the owner always chats us up when in there. I was surprised the food is as good as it is for bar food. The burgers are really good. I ordered the salmon salad and was surprised at how large it was and very tasty. Their brunch menu is small but very good as well. We have sampled the quinoa and breakfast burrito, both very good. Their brunch mimosa price can't be beat, $2 for a small and $4 for a large. They only reason I gave it 4 stars is their beers can be a little expensive and HH is only $1 off.

This has become our regular place to grab a bite. The food is really good and they have a great variety of food in general but are really outstanding at also offering a nice variety of vegetarian and gluten-free options (any burger can be ordered with a variety of meats including grilled portabello or veggie burger). Every time we've been in the owner is present and checks in to make sure the food is on par and that you are enjoying yourself. It's a great place for families as they don't just merely tolerate kids but go out of their way to make sure they are taken care of as well. They have a nice micro list and a great ambiance. All pros and no cons.

We just moved to the neighborhood from NYC, so we were so glad when a new bar opened within walking distance of our home. When we went in one night for dinner, we were amazed by the food! Not typical bar food at all! Fresh, creative, and delicious! I love the warm power salad, and have never been disappointed with any of the gourmet burgers (kimchee turkey burger is my favorite!). The fried artichoke hearts are perfectly breaded and cooked, and served with a delicious lemon aioli...yum!! My go-to dinner place when I want to stay close to home. The prices are just right, and the service has always been excellent. I can't wait to try their brunch! They just started trivia on Tuesday nights, which gives me a great excuse to go weekly!!

We've been here twice for lunch and have enjoyed our burgers both times. The service is great, very friendly. The burgers (both beef and turkey) are some of the best I've had and the best in NW Denver. We will be back to try out happy hour.

Good craft beer draft list, more in bottles. They have a pretty cheap appetizer list, which is rare, for most places. Dimly lit atmosphere, which I like. A bit, loud on a Saturday, but it's a bar. Comfortable booths, long bar, and some long community tables. Definitely worth checking out! Great service too!

Good bar food, great Burgers and brunch options. Their service is awwsome, everyone wants to make sure your taken care of, pretty rare for a bar, but I'm getting the sense all of Denver is very friendly

I went here for a happy hour outing with coworkers. I must say, I really like this unassuming place! We tried several appetizers- Chicken bites, deviled eggs, wings, artichoke bites, and potato skins. The potato skins are worth a visit to this place- they are delicious and I did not want to share. They make their own sauces in-house and the horseradish sour cream was a party in my mouth. I'm a craft beer fan and I found the beer list to be respectable. I had an Avery's Maharaja draft- always a palate pleaser for this IPA lover. The service was good...granted, the place wasn't busy at 2:30pm, but we did not get overlooked. I will be back for more!

I'm really glad this place opened up close by. It is a great little bar. The service I have gotten in this place has been great both times I've been. The first time was for a US mens soccer game and they set me and my friend up in the back with a big tv with the game on while they did trivia in the main bar. We were not forgotten about back there either! The food is actually very good as well. It is a great burger. Not the best I've had in Denver, but pretty good. Burger are very customizable. The veggie patty actually is probably the best I have had around these parts. The beer they have on tap is a mixture of locals and interesting selections from other craft brewers from around the country. Probably had around 12-14 beers on tap when I was there. Have a bunch of different types of bottled beer it looked like. All in all a great local pub.

I was visiting a friend in the area and originally planned on going to Sassafras for brunch. Sadly upon arriving there was a 70 minute wait and I had to be at the airport in a few hours. The host kindly recommended The Federal and even told us to let them know they'd sent us and we'd get a free mimosa. I was not disappointed! Lovely atmosphere, not too crowded, fast service, and good food. We were seated right away and were able to order quickly. Our food came in a timely manner and was great. I very much enjoyed my eggs Benedict. The restaurant was clean, from bar to restrooms. When I'm in the area again I intend to have brunch here again. I'm sure Sassafras is wonderful but I was not disappointed to be sent here instead.

I had no idea what to order for lunch and I ended up with the turkey sandwich at the suggestion of the server and it was a great choice. I don't remember exactly what it was called because it was awhile ago, but yum! I would recommend this place for lunch/dinner....it's a laid back sports bar kind of vibe. I was there after a Broncos game had ended on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty slow, so there was plenty of seating.

I really like this bar. They have a great beer list, tasty food, friendly service, and a nice and relaxed vibe to it. Great addition to the neighborhood. Very nice outside patio as well.

Great space, friendly service, good food and a nice beer selection. I will definitely go back and next time I'll ride my bike (sufficient parking) and take the kiddos along.

Five stars every time. If you're gluten free this will become your new favorite spot. They have the best gluten free buns I've ever had. Usually the bread falls apart and is very dry if its GF but theirs tastes like brioche. They also have a separate fryer for GF items. I'm not even GF but I'll try it if its available. Glad I did. I've had a couple burgers from here, both have been amazing. They have pork belly as an option for a burger topping. Try it instead of bacon it'll be the best decision you've ever made for your taste buds. The chicken strips are great. Also came for breakfast once and had they're quinoa which the owner old me they cook in milk with a cinnamon stick. Comes with fruit it was amazing?!!! Service is great, the owners are always around and are so sweet! Try it!

Nice, comfy pub with really great service. Good list of 20 craft beers on draft. (They could use a cider too.) Folks in the adjacent booth were raving about their wings. I opted for an awesome turkey sandwich with brie and lingonberry sauce/jam. It was marred only by a leaf of paper in both halves of the sandwich, probably the separator from the sliced meat. I was looking forward to the house-made potato chips, but half of them were leathery, not crisp - either undercooked or not drained well. Plenty of parking, unusual for this stretch of Federal. I'd go back.

This place is fantastic! Had the Deviled Eggs appetizer and the Juicy Lucy burger with Ghost fries. All three were great! Atmosphere is really nice and the service was excellent. We NEED more places like this in Jefferson Park. In my opinion, avoid the Jack N Grill next door, you're much better off spending your money here!

This is a great and much needed addition to Jefferson Park. We stopped in for dinner and a couple beers last Sunday and were amazed! Forget the old Mickey Manor that used to inhabit this location - this place was remodeled from the ground up. New kitchen, bar, a fantastic craft beer selection and a decent wine list. The menu is what I would call sophisticated bar food. Burgers, sandwiches and appetizers but the quality is top notch! Having never seen such a burger, I ordered the "Med" ( a lamb and beef patty with a cucumber and tzatziki sauce) and was extremely pleased. Their sweet potato fries and homemade chips were also very good. Its great to have a neighborhood bar in Jefferson Park now and we will certainly be returning.

The Federal fills a much needed void in the neck of the woods in which it now calls home. I've been to The Federal several times now and have a good feel for it. I live nearby and having a small, neighborhood bar where I can grab a drink, snack, or meal is awesome. You might not expect it from its location, but they've got a great menu with not only a good selection of appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, and salads, but they've got a pretty darn good beer list going too. And whether it's just you, you and a fun-loving date, or group of friends - it fits the bill. I would like to see a couple of changes made. While not major, they add up and would make a difference. For example, for as good of a beer list as they have, they've priced them too high. I can say this having been a part of the craft beer scene for several years and having quite a bit of research under my belt. Also, I incredibly dislike when I'm served a chilled glass. This is appropriate for a Coors Light, but not craft beers. It affects various aspects of the beer and what was once a great beer, becomes average. Other than that, this place is great and worth checking out.

Second time in here, ordered the Turkey Salad and fresh potato chips. The turkey salad is immense! So good though, I hung out longer than I probably should have trying to scarf the whole thing. Great new place to grab a bite and a beer!

Little gem! Nice owners. Clean. Very good food!!! Fresh red bird chicken, awesome artichoke hearts, quinoa salad warm with roasted tomatoes. Taking bar food up several notches. Next to Jack and Grill. Do it!

Outstanding service, great beer menu, and innovative, good food. Good cocktails too! Very comfortable too. I would come back! I had the salmon salad. My husband had the lamb sloppy joe sliders. Really lovely!

Great selection of Colorado (and other beers) and moderately priced cocktails ($6 Moscow Mule, in a mostly copper mug). The food selection looked great (creative, *not* overpriced) though we were just getting drinks... This is a fabulous addition to the neighborhood... I wish the decor had a little more "personality" but beggars can't be choosers, this place is great.

We have lived in Jeff park for a year and were so excited to try this. Super fun atmosphere with fun games. The service was great - quick and friendly. Good drinks. The food was just OK. I had the turkey sandwich and the ghost fries. The turkey sandwich was not the best. The ghost fries were good, but nothing special. The ranch dipping sauce is tha bomb. OK prices. Menu selection was missing something...just didn't feel complete. If you don't want a weird expensive salad, a burger or quirky sandwiches, then it's just kind of a meh feeling. It sounds like brunch is better.

Generally very good. Good burgers, a very nice pork belly. Decent service, I've never been neglected. Not that extra touch like "oh, there is 5 minutes on the happy hour" but more "gee you missed it by one minute, sorry". A great selection of beers tho the highest prices this side of Elway's. I hope this place succeeds since the neighborhood could use a middle end restaurant. A tad higher priced than the fare warrants. Revisit review 3/14 Bumped it a star as this place is consistent. Nice owner, personable staff. Food is consistently good. One gripe? They have great fries but they never drop the basket in the oil prior to plating them. I get soggy fries 4 out of 5 times. Think that would be a given. Revisit 12/14 This place has become a neighborhood mainstay. It is rare when I don't leave with a smile on my face. There has been some turnover in staff but the "backfill" continues to excel and I get treated well unless it's a mob scene and well, every place struggles in that situation. The menu must expand beyond the "mostly burgers" theme as the kitchen continues to impress that they are capable of pumping out good, consistent fare. GROW! I get hives when I think about dining in the Highland Square or LOHI areas and their continuing parking nightmares. Federal represents a "sweet spot".

I left my rain jacket at this bar, I called back the next day and was told that my $125 dollar jacket was not found! There were only two other patrons in the bar when I was there. For this reason I will never go back there..

Great neighborhood bar with excellent food and good set-up for watching sports. Had the buffalo chicken sandwich, it was a nice departure from the norm as it was grilled vs. fried and delicious. Try the peanut butter & jelly wings, they are awesome. Well worth the visit!

I have lived in this area for going on 4 years and was very excited when this place was going to open up. Unfortunately, I have been disappointed the few times I have gone in there. When they first opened everything was new and working in the service industry I understood some of the issues they were having. Nothing major, just little stuff. Some of the same things are still happening though. The food is ok, although the artichoke heart appetizer is really good. The sandwiches look like they are donated from nearby elementary schools. The burgers were ok too as they haven't gotten the correct temperature yet. They do have a good bar with a large selection but I think they are getting royally screwed by their drink distributor. $11 for a Tank 7?! I don't even like the stuff but that is outrageous. Other beers on tap are more moderately priced but I'm sure they are getting effed over on those prices as well. This place could be an awesome spot as the area is still underserved (excited about all the new places going in too) but they don't go a good job of advertising or enticing those in the area to go there. When they first opened they put a menu in our building. That was it. The effort isn't there it seems and while I hope they make it, I'm not confident in them.

We just moved to the area and were looking for somewhere with good beer and great food. This place has some amazing food and the happy hour prices are excellent. If you like spicy food, the ghost fries are the way to go. The atmosphere is very laid back and the staff are super friendly and nice! They let me taste all the beers I was interested in before I chose one. We will definitely be back!
