I never knew about this place. And in the area I figured it would be sketchy. Boy Was I wrong. They have a nice selection of local beers. And now on to the Cheesesteaks. Holy Hell. The Meat and Bread must be from the Food Gods themselves. The french roll is the best and tastiest that has ever graced my lips. The meat is juicy with some grease to give it that Ohh So Bad for me But Taste so good Deliciouso punch. You dont eat a Cheesesteak because its healthy. The inside isnt much to look at but who cares. They have an outside patio as well. Plenty of Parking.

WENDY! I missed the cheese steak and fries. oh yeah, the blue raspberry water with ice chocolate that was heaven. No worry about the price because its very affordable.

Awesome Cheese Steak. I'm sure Cheese Steak snobs from Philly will find something to dislike about this place because that's just what they do. As far as I'm concerned, the meat was delicious, there was a good amount of whiz, and the bread was soft but not soggy. Plus the green chili cheese fries were delicious. Top it all off with very reasonable prices, and I think Park Hill has a winner.

  • Jennifer M.

This was delicious but I've had better. I always felt that it's not a cheesesteak unless your hands are covered in grease at the end of the meal. My hands were definitely clean but it was still tasty.

Pretty darn good Philly steak I definitely come here again the I like the fact that you can order a beer with with your meal

I must say it... I'm a fat kid at heart and I am in love. While I'm newer to the Philly cheese steak scene, I've got to give two thumbs up to Famous Philly Cheese Steaks. 1 = Great friendly service. 2 = Amazing fries! 3 = Got "The Works" cheese steak with cream cheese, sooo good!! 4 = Fried mushrooms that hit the spot! 5 = Convenience, about 2 miles from my job and you can order through GrubHub for delivery ($15 minimum). That's only the beginning of my joy... They also offer a happy hour from 3pm-7pm for $1 off craft beers, featuring the likes of SKA Brewing, River North Brewery, Estes Park Brewery. Mmm... Back to lunch!

The food is great but the service is horrible. There's been quite a few times when I've called in to order and they seemed like they were irritated with life so I started going through grub hub. But that wasn't my biggest issue. My biggest issue is that the delivery driver's assume they are going to get a second tip even after I already tipped them on my credit card. This really pissed me off because I had a driver today on 9/3/15 who damn near made me drop my food because he let go before I could get a hold of it. I'm not sure if he was having a bad day or if he was upset because he didn't get his "cash" tip. I already gave him the damn tip on grub hub I wasn't going to do it again! Anyway I'm just venting because I thought my driver was rude! But like I said the food is good, it's just the customer service that sucks. They won't be getting any of my business for awhile.

I would say one of my top 5 places to get a Philly cheese steak my only complaint is that it needs a little more cheese I will definitely be back

    (4)
  • Richard F.

Very enjoyable experience and tasty philly. I will be back. After I got my order which was fast over a dozen people came in. It is good.

  • Chris D.

I'm taking away a star until they get their taps figured out. They went from having a good beer selection, to only one available beer the last time I went in. Not my idea of a "beer garden" Food is still fantastic! Good fried pickles too

I found this place while waiting for my laundry to finish at nearby laundromat. Great food/value! I recommend their bacon Philly cheesesteak. From now on laundry night is more than just laundry night as I look forward to also a delicious dinner here at Famous Philly cheesesteak!

Had delivery from here a couple of times and it was awesome! Great cheese steaks and good jalapeno poppers as well. Love this place.

  • Nate C.

I'm not a Philly Cheese Steak expert, but our sandwiches seemed pretty good. For about 8 bucks you can get a good size sub, fries, and a drink. That's a pretty good price for just one person. The restaurant was clean, and the lady who took our order seemed friendly. I would recommend this place to just about anyone.

  • Cameron M.

These cheese steaks hit the spot and are on par with the best Philly cheese steaks I've had in L.A. The place didn't disappoint. I could definitely see myself a regular at this place if I lived in the area.

    (4)
  • Mickey R.

Probably some of the best Philly cheese steaks I've had in Denver! Good variety of cheese steaks and sides! People are cool and the place itself is a little on the divey side which I love. They have a nice beer garden with a ton of local craft brews which is awesome in the summer time! All around great local place to grab a sub and a drink!

    (5)
  • Charisse P.

I have ordered food from this place dozens of times and I am never disappointed. I have never been in their establishment but I order delivery at least twice a month through grub-hub. The cheese-steak is the best I have ever had I think the only way it could get better is if I was IN Philly. I usually hate ordering fries from a restaurant because they end up being a let down but this place knows fries. They also know onion rings! And any place that offers to add bacon onto any sandwich is a keeper in my book, :-)

  • Laura B.

We had a plain cheesesteak and one with green chile on it. Both were good, but the green chile one was great! They do have a kids menu, it's just not posted on the wall so you need to ask. Patio was a great, quiet place to enjoy a good meal. We would recommend this to anyone looking for a simple, good meal.

Buyer beware, if you order a large combo you will still get a small drink. Also, don't bother asking why the drink is small when you paid for a large combo, because depending on the person behind the register, they might not give a fuck. The girl working behind the register today, was the rudest service industry person I have ever dealt with. I even tipped her before she denied me explanation or a bigger cut. Petty shit...doubt I'll be back.

  • caitlin M.

The phillies here are by far the best I've had in Denver. But I'm getting so annoyed by their "closed on Sunday's after football season break." Football season has been done for three months and if they really want to be closed on Sunday's they need to update their website and social platforms.

  • Stephan C.

I'm telling you, this place is legit! It's small, grill smoked and the team is as nice as Coloradans can be. The use of the real Amoroso roll make the one wit true to the philly style. Being a Pennsylvanian and knowing where to go in Philly for the real deal, this is as close as it gets!

    (5)
  • Sam K.

Great food but they be closing spuradically -today I called ahead and was told they had to close because of lack of staff- two out of three times I've tried dining here and they're closed- great food when they open

  • Doug Y.

Well... once again I find I am just about clueless when it comes to finding places to eat. Lots of my yelp friends have known about this place for years and it took my being lost while trying to avoid a traffic jam from an accident to find this place. A strip mall in the middle of a residential neighborhood with a good sandwich shop, a liquor store and it looks like a micro-brewery might be opening in here too. Very cool! I had a small combo and it was plenty. I couldn't even finish all my fries and that's pretty unusual for me. I leave no fry uneaten... well until this place. I definitely want to get back to try a sandwich with "the works" on it because as good as the beef with onions and cheese is, I think i was wanting maybe some peppers, mushrooms, and they had jalapeños? Oh hell yeah! I'll be back and maybe I'll skip the fries and go for the LARGE sandwich.... maybe.

    (4)
  • A L.

Fastest delivery in the area, decent cheesesteak kind of surprising to find one of those in Denver. Good fried food too

    (5)
  • Joni S.

If you have a craving for a mouth watering cheese steak sandwich, then look no further cuz this place can make one up just for you. First, they use Amoroso rolls....yum! Then the meat....oh my, tender and delicious and throw in the cheese....OMG! I grew up in PA, so I'm very familiar with Philly cheese steaks and this place makes just as good! Give it a try sometime.

My boyfriend is a cheesesteak LOVER.. He will not shut up about how good his bacon Philly cheesesteak was!

    (5)
  • Nancy A.

Came here for a quick lunch and was definitely not disappointed. We ordered the classic The "Works" Philly cheese steak and the "Works" chicken cheese steak. The "Works" contains onions, mushrooms and your choice of pepper (green, jalapeno, hot, sweet, peperoncini). We loved both of our sandwiches. The bread was perfect and everything inside the bread was delicious. They have an amazing sauce for their onion rings too! Definitely give this place a try!

    (4)
  • Soren M.

I have eaten here many times over the past couple years, great food, fresh , tasty and quality ingredients. The staff had always been friendly and treated me well . I recommend this place, it won't disappoint .

    (5)
  • Kevin K.

I ordered the regular cheesesteak. It was good overall but the meat had a real cheap taste to it and there was something about the cheese I didn't care for, it was likely processed, which I don't care for. Maybe that is what a Philly is supposed to taste like and if that's the case then I will pass on them altogether.

    (3)
  • Angela R.

I always enjoy your roast beef sandwich, but today, the gravy was not included with my order. It definitely adds to it, and when I called, the lady didnt seem to with it that I talked to. Anyway, still love the sandwich.

Food: The bread was soggy and the steak had no flavor. I felt like I got someone's leftover. The food came out fast but it was cold. I guess I just went on a bad compared to all the good reviews. Service: I had to order with the cook while he was making orders. Thought it was talented but I didn't like repeating my order. They also didn't have any straws or condiments. They simply said we don't got none. Environment: once you step in the place, it smelled like mold or the sewage was having a problem. Overall: I went to this place on a Monday evening. This place had really good review, seems like I went on a bad.

  • Lance G.

That was a really good sandwich . Ordered the pepper cheesesteak , probably would have been 5 stars but they were kinda stingy with the peppers . The meat was flavorful , great bread and fast service !

Awesome cheese steak! They even have Birch beer which is amazing. Crowded and small but great prices!

  • Larry M.

Just had a taste for a Philly cheese steak tonight and thought I would give this place a try since I hadn't been to it in over seven years ... that experience wasn't a good one. I was in the store around 06:30 and the young lady at the register taking orders was very helpful and pleasant. I had a large steak with jalapenos, extra cheese with lettuce and tomatoes on the side. I also ask about the french fries as many have stated that they weren't up to par as being Good. She ask what my traveling distance was and then stated that they could make them crispy so that they wouldn't be soggy. Have to say,the steak sandwich was good and plentiful in regards to the fillings ... the fries were crispy and still warm mind you I only live 2 miles away. The Boylan birch beer soda which I had while waiting was the BOMB. I only have three suggestion for this restaurant and they are; 1) use a garlic salt and black pepper seasoning for the fries. 2) use a thicker cut of potato for the fries maybe even a steak fry cut. 3) have a bin that customers can use to recycle the bottles and cans from your vast selection of sodas. Just the thought of all those bottles going into the landfill makes me ill. Note: I once worked for a restaurant that specialized in Philly cheese steak sandwiches ... the name was Acapella's on 17th ave. Well known in the late 80's and early 90's. And the owner's were from Philly and knew what a cheese steak should taste like hence they taught me. I never got what the whole thrill about the tastykakes.

  • Tiffany N.

I've never actually been to this restaurant, but I have ordered delivery from them several times. These cheesesteaks are greasy, goodness wrapped up in a bun. They are so cheesy that the cheese sticks to the parchment paper wrapped around them and you don't even care because there is so much cheese still on the sandwich. Also, they make a bacon cheesesteak. Yes. Bacon. On a cheesesteak. Just when you thought this meal couldn't get any worse for your health... or better for your tastebuds.... They do fresh cut fries which are never quite crispy enough for me, but it's a nice option to have. And every time I've ordered delivery they've shown up faster than the quoted time which is always a nice surprise, especially when you are a starvin' marvin like I often am these days.

    (4)
  • Joe W.

This place was packed for lunch and all that needs to be said is "Holy crap it's good!" You will not regret your decision.

    (5)
  • Nick D.

So, the cheesesteaks were mediocre. The price was affordable. I'd consider trying it one more time, but I wasn't sold on our first try. The delivery was fast and efficient, though! The service was friendly.

  • Kinleigh C.

I order food here probably about once every couple of weeks, and it's always delicious. Both the chicken and regular cheesesteaks are great, and don't forget the jalapeños! The small combo comes with enough fries to share between two people, so my husband and I always get one combo and one sandwich between the two of us. The only issue I've ever had is that I used to call in to pick up orders, and they would never start preparing it until I got there to pick it up. I have since just started ordering at the restaurant, and my food is always ready in 5-10 minutes.

    (5)
  • Holly B.

Love the food, getting them to answer the phone is the issue! Grrr it's so frustrating, I don't want to leave a message I want to order food!

    (3)
  • Renee W.

Excellent! Best philly since I lived on the east coast. Good parking and a decent beer selection too. No tast cakes tho :-(

    (4)
  • Ryan K.

Cheesesteak are awesome and authentic. Coming from NJ and the Philly area I find most cheesesteak are gimmicky or sub par. Starting with the Amarosa roll to the cheese whiz you get the original experience right in Park Hill. Plus good craft beer on tap. Don't pass this place by, stop now.

  • Edward W.

The Bread and What's in a Name, Part 1: Not sure what "Amorosa" rolls are. They certainly aren't "Philly". This store boasts "Amorosa" rolls on the menu, and the patrons have bought into the hype with their reviews of "Amorosa" here on Yelp. Any Philadelphian knows that the Philly company that makes the bread is "Amoroso". Official bread partner of the Flyers, Phillies and Eagles. Check it out. amorosobaking.com What's in a Name, Part 2: Yo, they're not "Philly's" as some have called the sandwich. It's a "steak sandwich" or a "cheesesteak". Just keeping it real, cuz. Decor: Some Philly sports memorabilia is on the wall for a Philly feel, but Tony Luke's this isn't. Tables are basic with a TV near the ceiling by the entrance. I like that. Monday Night Football is on the flat screen with the Cowboys losing on tonight's visit. I like that, too. Nothing fancy, but perfect for a cheesesteak joint. The Back of the House: The kitchen, in plain view, is so cluttered and so dirty that it scared me off... Has no one else looked into the kitchen when ordering or picking up? Yikes! So no food review from me. I walked out. Just my commentary on the bread and cleanliness. BTW, I'm not angry. I'm just from Philadelphia.

These guys offered me quite possibly THE best customer service I've ever experienced. Even when there was a slight snafu with my friend's order, they ended up making us laugh and were very prompt and willing to make up for it. Concerning the food, it was phenomenal. The closest I've had to an authentic Philly this far west! Do not skip this place if it can be helped, you'll thank yourself for it as soon as you get a taste!

So awesome. Really nice staff and great phillies. Fast delivery!!! The fries are perfect and everything was hot and fresh.

    (5)
  • Mark H.

The food is five stars hands down, but I have to rate on my experience. For them to make a Ruben, Hamburger, and a Philly and it took almost an hour. They did give us a coupon for free fries because of it though. On the bright side it was one of the best sandwiches I have had in a while!

Tried to come here on Sunday. Showed up and the place is closed. Maybe they should update their hours.

    (1)
  • Ben S.

This is one if the best cheesesteaks in Denver! The people complaining about the bread being too soft or it being too soggy, have no idea what a Philly Cheesesteak is supposed to taste like... I agree that there are different kinds that may taste better, but these folks are making exactly what they are aiming for! It is a great Philly Cheesesteak! The fries are great as well!!! And the service is super quick!!!

    (5)
  • Ken C.

Bottom line - this is a great cheese steak. The kind of sandwich you will crave and need to go back for. The service = Philly. Not really trying to be mean, just that way. The environment - like a run down fast food place. They do have a patio with cornhole boards and bags, which is pleasant. But for me, going here is all about the cheese steak, which is excellent, thus they get a 5.

    (5)
  • Katherine S.

Fries are nothing more than garden variety, but the Pepper CheeseSteak was awesome. Plenty of meat, melty cheese and peppers. Stayed to eat because the place was clean (a bit small), and service was super friendly. Will be coming back for happy hour $1 off craft beers.

    (5)
  • Clair S.

I usually order from this place a lot. I am from Philly and appreciate a good cheesesteak but the last 2 times the steaks have been either soggy buns or really dry. Also they forgot my fries which was really annoying I waited over 30 more minutes for my fries. I should at least get a free meal. I am very disappointed and Hope they go back to their normal great work. All I have to say is it will get busier during the summer work on the quality of your steaks.

    (3)
  • Joshua H.

I found this gem looking for a sandwich around Park Hill. I order a Philly with all the good stuff and fries. The Philly was awesome! It melted in my mouth. Very good and very fresh to order. I didnt see the beer garden but will check it out next time. Craft beers on tap. I will be back many more times! Update: I guess the beer garden is in the front.

These are the REAL DEAL. How do I know? Because I used to think I HATED cheesesteaks before I ate one of these. Great toppings, awesome bread quality (shipped from Philly!), tons of meat, and real shredded cheese. It's a total hole-in-the-wall restaurant (which makes me love it even more) with old-school Pac Man. I'm excited for the "beer garden" to open in the summer as I imagine myself sitting in the sun, gorging on cheesesteaks and tater tots, and drinking pitcher after pitcher of refreshing Coors Lite (note: it DOES taste different here in Denver!). Pro tip: 2 medium cheesesteaks + 1 basket of tater tots w/ cheese + 1 pitcher of beer = $20 FANTASTIC lazy Sunday meal.

  • Mark T.

An amazing cheesesteak!! I'm from Philly, I grew up eating cheesesteaks. There are actually quite a few different versions of a Philly cheesesteak (dependent on where you lived). The big fight for the crown of Philly cheesesteak in Philly typically boils down to either Pat's or Geno's. While both of those are great cheesesteaks, theyre not what I grew up eating (I lived in Delaware County and my cheesesteak was different from Pat's/Geno's). I have been searching for a great cheesesteak since I moved here a year+ ago. I'm surprised I havent stumbled upon this place in my searches before today. Its off my beaten path, and the dining room is no 5 star restaurant...but its exactly fitting for what it is, a great place to pick up a quick and incredibly tasty cheesesteak. When i walked in this morning around 11am, the dining room was empty except for one customer. I was greeted kindly by the female cashier. She took my order quickly (a 12" cheesesteak plain), and said it would be ready in a few mins. I sat down and she came around the counter and chatted with me while filling up some sodas (most likely for the staff). Within 2 mins my order (to go) was ready and brought to me wrapped and ready to go. I thanked the cook and he thanked me for visiting. I drove to work (25 mins away), and when i got there i sat down to have lunch. I was astounded at how warm (still) and perfect this cheesesteak was. The Amoroso roll was perfect, and the balance of steak and cheese was spot on. It was greasy, and cheesy, and the best cheesesteak I've had since I last lived in Philly in 2005. It was THAT f#%&ing good. I seriously couldnt have asked for a better cheesesteak. If youre near the area, I highly recommend trying these guys out. I plan on visiting them as often as I can. If they were open Sundays in the winter I would be going there this Sunday as its the most convenient day for me to swing by that way. Also a bonus, when I was leaving I saw a Pennsylvania license plated car in the lot. Made it feel like home. :)

So thanks to the local Yelpers for telling me to try Famous Philly. The staff here are anything but Robots. Fun, laid back environment. The tv is on and you can actually hear what's on sports center which is a plus. As far as food, being from Alabama for the last 30 years I know good "feel good" food. Case in point. Come try this place out you'll love it!

    (4)
  • Gina K.

Just ate here after reading the reviews, average at best and by no means is this a beer garden. Small seating area and a hap hazard looking beer tap any other cheesesteak place is probably just as good

    (2)
  • Dave M.

Great cheese steaks in Denver and they deliver. I love the peppered cheeses steak with jalapeños the bread is brought in fresh everyday and the meat is tender and juicy. I know I know if your from philly they are not exactly authentic but this is a damn good sandwich.

    (4)
  • J P.

Difinitely worth giving a try if you are a cheesesteak fan. I read complaints about the service in previous reviews but I thought the service was fantastic..... Very pleasant, helpful, and concerned about the quality of the food.

  • Linda C.

Delicious, fast, soft Amoroso rolls and delicious steak and veggies, plus no pretension. Just what we wanted. A great find on the northeast side.

  • Jamie A.

I just ordered and had it delivered. Fast delivery (beat the estimated grubhub time by 20 minutes), the guy was great, and i think i have found my new favorite place. Food tastes great.

    (5)
  • Dan S.

My wife & I have been ordering delivery here for several years now. We really love the food, but the service is hit or miss. A lot of times the delivery driver will forget something & have to come back, but they usually throw in a freebie of some sort so that works itself out. My reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that whoever takes my order over the phone is usually about as friendly as a sack of rattlesnakes. I understand people have a bad day here & there, but every time I call here the order taker is snippy & rude as consistently as the food is good. If I didn't like the food so much I swear I'd tell this person where to go! But I bite my tongue because its really that tasty. I hope the owner or manager reads this & takes the time to listen to his order takers & get them in shape.

We just moved to Park hill a couple of weeks ago and decided to take a walk and find a spot for lunch. I am so glad we ran across this gem! This is the best cheese steak I have had since I moved from the east coast! The meat is shaved exactly how it's supposed to be. The bread is beyond perfect, as it should be, it comes from Philly! You wouldn't think it would be hard to find a decent hoagie roll in the Denver metro area but it is. So thank you Famous Philly Cheese Steak & Beer Garden for serving a delicious sandwich and a little taste of home

    (5)
  • David B.

I love the Philly cheese steaks here. The service is friendly, and everything is delicious. The only thing that kept me from giving it a fifth star is that the bread could be a bit better, but that certainly doesn't keep me from going.

    (4)
  • Diane N.

Yup. Bombtastic. Famous Philly Cheese Steaks serves, by far, the most successful cheese steak in Denver. When I find a better one, I promise to let you know. The Good & Bad Rundown: + perfectly melted cheese cradles every bite + provolone, American cheese, or cheez-whiz + Amoroso bread is chewy and soft; perfect for the warm, cheesy filling + different peppers (i.e. hot, green, sweet, jalapeno) + three different sandwich sizes + perfectly seasoned filling (not bland or too salty) + chicken or other sandwich options - kind of greasy/dirty inside

    (4)
  • Tara B.

The Amarosa bread here is the softest I've found in Denver, I'm not sure how they manage it. The variety of cheesesteaks offered is also hands above the competition with Pepperoni, Chicken and other varieties of cheesesteak available. With three sizes of cheesesteak, there really is a cheesesteak for everyone here. They seem to experiment with their fries on occasion and the lack of consistency is unfortunate. Another area for improvement is that sometimes the customer service can be a bit gruff. Overall, I applaud them as my new favorite philly cheesesteak in Denver.

  • Kevin W.

I give the food 3 stars, out of 5. I give the service 0 stars!! We called in a order for pickup. I ordered 2 Philly Steak sandwiches, a chicken parm sandwich & a order of wings. I give them my credit card info. I was told the order would be ready in 30 minutes. I arrive 30 mins later. I am told they do not have the ingredients for the chicken parm sandwich. I say "fine, I'll just take the Philly Steak sandwiches and the wings". Then they tell me it will be 20 mins for the order of wings. I tell them "cancel the wings, just give me the 2 steak sandwiches". I then ask for a credit for the chix parm sandwich and the wings. They say the use paypal so they can not credit me till tomorrow. I ask for a receipt for the food I did not get. I was then told, in an angry tone, they can not do so, but they will credit me tomorrow. Two weeks later I still have not received my refund. Go somewhere else. Their food is just OK and there service SUCKS. P.S. the place is not very clean

So I'm not from Philly nor have I had a true philly cheesesteak, but this place is pretty good. I got the cheesesteak with tomatoes and lettuce. Decent price in a strip of fun local businesses.

  • Kristy K.

I was very disappointed with Famous Philly Cheesesteaks and Beer Garden. After reading the great reviews, I was excited that there was supposedly a delicious, authentic cheesesteak place close to my home. Unfortunately, this joint is not the real deal. If you have read any of my other cheesesteak reviews, you will know that I take my cheesesteaks very seriously. Sadly, we have another Philly cheesesteak imposter. First off, the meat was all wrong. It was too thin and lacked the flavor and texture that makes a good cheesesteak. It was quite mushy and reminded me of ground beef. I was actually pretty disturbed by it. Second, the amoroso rolls weren't like the delicious ones they serve in Philly or even Denver Ted's. They were way too soft. It lacked the chew that makes an authentic Philly cheesesteak. This soft bread only made the steak mush feel mushier. There was no texture - just straight up mush. Third, the whiz was all wrong. In fact, I would go as far to say it wasn't whiz. I am going to sound crazy here as I go on a cheese whiz rant but that stuff they claimed to be whiz wasn't the real deal either. I got a side of it to dip their boring fries in and was immediately taken back by the disgusting taste. I know cheese whiz isn't known for being some gourmet cheese but this stuff was gross. It tasted like the cheese you would get at a bowling alley. Cheese whiz can't be that expensive, so I'm confused as to why they would skimp there. I was just very disappointed. I have a difficult time referring to this place as a beer garden. With only beers such as Miller Lite, Budweiser, and Coors Light available, I would be hesitant to call it a "beer garden." Maybe I missed their local beers or something but this beer garden really seemed to be lacking some quality beers. In sum, I disliked this place. If you enjoy mushy sandwiches and Miller Lite, you may like Famous Philly Cheesesteaks and Beer Garden. If you are looking for the real deal, this isn't it. If you want legit, go to Denver Ted's. That place knows Philly cheesesteaks. So much for a delicious cheesesteak place close by. I would not even revisit based on convenience.

Found this place through yelp, and then went to get cheese steaks! The sandwiches were EPIC. I got the #1 combo, the medium cheese steak, fries and a drink. My cheese steak had mushrooms, green peppers, and onions. It was freaking hot and gooey, and cheesy and absolutely delicious. The fries were crisp and fresh and delicious, I only added a sprinkle of salt. I enjoyed the awesome cheese steaks, and now I'm going to go take a food coma nap. :D

I had a Philly Cheese 8" with bacon which was interesting, onions and peppers, and a beer for under $10. The bread on the philly was good, but really the best part was the bacon. I will likely return for a similar experience.

Ordered delivery. Food took about an hour. Was absolutely delicious, we got the works and wings. Both were great!! Problem: Ordered large drinks - got small w no straws. Ordered ranch and blue cheese for wings - got none. Overall I definitely recommend the food but service needs work.

Being born near Philly you grow up as a kid eating some pretty good cheese steak subs. Having moved out to CO everyone is a little more health conscious, but when I need a fix this is the place to go. This is about as authentic as it gets. Last I recall the folks running the place are from the Philly area and have a PA accent. Good food & good people.

I bought philly cheese steaks for the whole family and an order of 10 wings. Waited forever to get my order via take out, (and tipped them) -got home and there was neither ranch or the blue cheese I had ordered. Called them on the phone and they said they would bring it over in 10 to 15 minutes. And... They never showed up. Needless to say -will not be ordering from them again.

This place is pretty darn good. I use my 5 stars sparingly so they don't lose there meaning. Its almost like when one plays, "rock paper sissors," in order to make a decision, you can't go back on it, or else you lose the sanctity of the game. My five stars will never lose their sanctity. I go there many times for lunch when I substitute teach at the Odyssey School. Its like 1 minute away. Super tasty, done right phillies. All cheesey and melty, with great bread, onions, mushrooms, and peppers. Hits the spot. Really fast service, easy, and tasty. You're certainly not in Philly, your in Denver, so make sure to keep that in mind. If you go during lunch there is a rush at 12:20ish due to the Denver School of the Arts crowd, but it is still fast.

Since reviews are just not based on the taste of the food but also the service. I saw the great views posted on here so I decided to take my friends car and drive out here in the rain. I ordered a large mushroom cheesesteak sandwich with light onions and sweet peppers (that they did charge me for) got back to his apartment and noticed that the sandwich barely had any sweet peppers in it... took a bite of the sandwich and it was pretty damn tasty! Now you ask why I give them only 3 stars? No customers were in the restaurant, but we didnt get any acknowledgement when we entered... not even a "hi" instead a girl just stood there waiting to take my order... not so friendly at all. Yes, the sandwich was pretty good but the service was lacking in my opinion.

Holy Yum! Don't let the detatched booths and uneven floors keep you away, this place has the best cheesesteaks ever! I have tried a few different places and found them to be OK or decent - this is amazing!! Chock full of meaty goodness and when you add bacon they chop it up with the steak so each bite is equally incredible! I'm not from Philly and don't know authenticity, but I do know taste and it fulfills my need every time! I just wish I lived closer - well maybe my waistline knows I shouldn't ;-) Just go!

Finally stopped in here and was so glad I did! As an undergrad in Philly, I have had my share of cheesesteaks. Heard some good things about this place and was a little unsure approaching the door. Funny t shirts the staff wear, cool mural depicting parts of Philly, complete with the SEPTA bus!! Philly water ice...tastykakes...mmm... When I took one bite, I was instantly brought back to so many nights ordering cheesesteaks in Philly! Even my clothes smelled just like they used to after being in a cheesesteak shop back east... definitely will visit again!

I am write a lot of reviews on reubens, this one is not really worth your time. Its served on white bread toast and the dressing is really ketchupy and the sandwich is just overall weak. The cheesesteak is so-so, especially since it is supposed to be their specialty. The bread tastes really cheap and the meat is lacking sometimes, depending on the sandwich. They do have one of the better chicken cheesesteaks though and the fries are always fresh.

South Philly serves the Cheesesteaks that I am familiar with; the ones we get back home. The special meat chopped on a grill with Provolone (or your favorite cheese type) and the offerings of multiple types of peppers, grilled onions, and mushrooms. The sandwich is served without the sauces and you can add your own ketchup. They are served on Amarosa buns which really are special and imported from Philly. Other imports include Tasty Cakes and Italian ice. Oh yes, and the owner from New York is another import and great to talk to when not sweating over a grill. Enough said as all the other reviewers have said it all, just another Park Hill gem.

My boyfriend and I recently moved to the area and finding this place has been the best thing about our new neighborhood. I have to say having the option to have a cheese steak and french fries DELIVERED may not be the best for my health but until I find myself having it delivered every day I am saying the pros out weigh the cons. I have yet to stop in to dine but we are looking forward to checking out their beer garden.

What a fantastic little hidden gem. I guess hidden to us because we accidentally stumbled upon it. This is a spot that is worth going out of your way for to have a fantastically delicious Cheesesteak. The bread, meat and all the toppings were great. It is nice to find an authentic cheesesteak right in the heart of Park Hill. The only downside is no air conditioning, so keep that in mind. Worst case, you have to have an extra beer to keep cool.

  • Dave J.

Yum! Delicious cheesy, meaty goodness, wrapped up in a tasty perfect bread. I like mine with onions, mushrooms and bacon. If you live in Park Hill...you should have this place on the go-to list.

We found this place on yelp on the way back to our hotel after touring the Coors brewery. It looks like a hole in the wall, and probably wouldn't have stopped there if it had not been near the hotel. We ordered the #1 (Medium steak philly, fries, and a drink) and #3 (medium meatball sub, fries, and a drink). Pros: If you are looking for a good philly cheese steak, this is your place. Sandwiches were excellent and were brought to our table promptly. Cons: Small, only a few tables in the restarant, but did have outdoor tables as well. Fries were average.

My third time here and it is deliciousness--good as it gets. It is nice that their Cheesesteaks are not all filler with mushrooms and peppers. Those are optional items. I think I have only had the jalepeno/bacon every time!! It is soo good that I am scared to order something else and being disappointed I did not get the usual. I think the fries are excellent too. I guess next time I will have to explore Tastycakes as I don't know what they are. I even lived on the east coast for 3 years. Oh, the bread is sooo good too. You will not be disappointed, so come to the hood and check it out.

Rocky Balboa would be proud of this authentic Cheesesteak joint with the flavors right outta Philly. If you want the Cheese Wizzy goodness with excellent fresh rolls then head down to Oneida Park and be prepared to walk out satisfied! I luckily don't live close, otherwise I'd be in BIG trouble! ;) Oh and don't forget they have Tastee Cakes from the East Coast, oh the nostalgia!

I adore this place. The people who work there, the food, the vibe - all great. Cheesesteaks from South Philly are ordered at least once a month for me and my husband. The only negatives: They used to have sweet peppers that made the sandwich really sing, but for some reason they stopped carrying the really good ones. Sad. Also, I'm not a huge fan of their fries, but maybe that's just me. Sometimes their hours are a bit screwy, too. Here's a story I journaled about almost a year ago that pretty much sums it up: I ordered my sandwich to be made with onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and as an afterthought, love. And when we got home and I pulled the sandwich out of the bag? On the butcher paper it was wrapped in was written "mush/on/gp/LOVE." It is now one of my favorite restaurants ever. Anyone willing to humor me and take note of my goofy side remarks warrants my vote of approval.

Ok - so I still love the food but service is starting to slip. Over an hour for delivery? I think not...nothing rates waiting that long. So then I waited 30min for a to go order...what gives? Too bad that this is happening to a great place...I'll drive right on by unless I've got time to kill.

Located in Parkhill on the corner of 22 and Oneida is this little gem, Since we are routinely in P-hill and when I want a cheesesteak I don't have to run Downtown to get a decent one I can just swoop up to this spot and get my fix. A good cheeseteak is a simple formula, Steak, Cheese, Bread, Onions and you got it, With South Phily they use a good thin cut rib eye, whiz its gotta be whiz, and amroso bread they have figured out that a simple formula with top ingredients makes a superior product. I love these joints because they are small and independent but one thing that amazes me about little spots like this is when it comes to the fries or something like mozzarella sticks why do you go with the run of the mill Nobel Sysco crap take it up a notch fresh cut some fries and hand dip some mozzarella into some bread crumb mixture then this becomes a 4 star joint instead of a 3. The steak by itself is 4 stars, the fries and moz sticks are 2 stars, so you can do the math. MAJOR CAVEAT: Every weekday at noon this place is over ran with the cast from GLEE! Denver School of the Arts is a couple blocks away guess where they go for lunch! Hint its the subject of this review!

Really fast delivery, reasonable prices, and the cheesesteaks are very filling and delicious. They make it right with the onions and cheese and any other toppings you want mixed in with the meat so every bite is as good as the last. The bread is authentic Philly-style: soft and easy to eat and it absorbs the juices so the bread is tasty and keeps the whole thing a relatively tidy affair. I got delivery which was really fast and the drinks came in styrofoam cups and the fries came in a greasy paper bag. I loved it... when you see a place make a move like that, you know it's good.

  • David S.

Really good food but not the nicest place to dine in. This place is as authentic as it gets, and they have some tasty twists on the classics - one of my favorites is the jalapeno/bacon cheesesteak. I've eaten outside many times, but only recently ate inside - I'd not suggest it - the place gets very busy at lunch and no one seems to keep up with the cleaning as the handful of tables turnover.

I've been there twice and both times the cheesesteak I got was the best I'd ever had, I'm not too familiar with the genuine article having never been to Philly but my real estate agent is from there and swears this is the real deal. This place imports the bread from Philly and cooks your food to order. Someone else was complaining about the fries - I think their fries are fantastic - thick cut, no crappy red powder 'seasoning', fried in fresh oil and salted just enough. They have a very good meal deal with a sandwich, fries, and and a drink for under ten dollars. I felt kind of guilty as I polished off a medium with peppers, the generous box of fries, and a soft drink- but dang is it good! With food this good and inexpensive I think its silly to comment on ambience- the place seemed extremely clean and well-maintained the two times I've been there, and they have a good sized patio if it's warm enough to eat outside. They also have beer (2-for-1 specials in the evenings).

Soooo...I'm somewhat of a cheesesteak connoisseur (addict? lover?). I've eaten at no less than six places in Philly, and have tried 3 places so far in Denver. South Philly is my favorite so far here in Denver! They use Amoroso bread, excellent beef, and they're offensive with the Whiz (PLEASE!!! Offend me with the whiz!) They also offer an east coast staple by selling delicious TastyKake. They really upset me that they're closed on Sundays (as my craving always seems to strike while watching football!), but the fact that they have ample parking makes up for it. Plus, it's kind of in the "sketchy" part of Park Hill, so you feel as though you're getting the authentic South Philly experience.

What a find ! A friend took me to this place and it has great sandwiches and stuff. Apparently there are 4 locations in the Denver area. The one I went to is in the middle of a residential area, a small shopping center, which in itself is kind of strange as the amount of business they can hope for there seems to be limited. I hope they make it. The site itself is small, about 10 tables and benches, a TV had on the baseball game (NYY vs. Clev ..go Clev.), the kitchen takes up about a third of the place. Everything is made fresh and delivered to your table. They also do a take out business for those in the immediate area. It is a bit difficult to find and the large sign outside was not even lit up. A good marketing campaign would cement this place where it is and bring in increased revenue. They have won "best sandwich" in the North Metro Taste of the Chamber for the past two years, and the "People's Choice" Best Sandwich award for 2006. I had the Chicken Mushroom Cheesesteak with Provolone and onions. It was great and I have not been exposed to Philly style cheesesteaks before. They use rolls sent in from Amoroso Bakery in Philly and they are great and are an intergral part of the sandwich. The fries were nothing special. They also have Tastykakes which I understand are another Philly staple. I will definately make the trip to the shop many more times or as long as they are there.

I'm worried. I'm worried that I now reside only blocks from South Philly cheesesteaks. For the sake of my LDL's, please don't ever stay open late. These cheesesteaks could be habit forming, and are probably the best cheesesteaks I've had in a good long while. Gotta love cheez whiz on a steak that is pretty robust without being rubbery. Interesting lunch crowd, too. Being that close to the Denver arts school brings in a unique bunch. I would pay to hear the running commentary of a couple of authentic south Philly mooks when dining here.

Good cheesteak, good price, good fries. I can't give it 5 stars because either I have never had a great cheesesteak, or I can't tell the difference between a good cheesesteak and a great one. This place will definitely hit the spot without much hit to the wallet though, and it is cool that they serve beer. I went for lunch but I bet it is a lively place at night.

I am a Philly native, have had countless cheeseteaks in my life and even worked in a cheesesteak shop during high school. Up til that point Walt's steaks in the Philly burbs was my favorite mushroom pizza steak ever. Was never impressed by the big 3 in the city. My roommate, also a Philly boy, raved about South Philly's when I moved in. Insisted I try it. I had my doubts. But after one experience I can tell you that this is authentic, dripping, oozing and addictive as a good cheesesteak should be. If you've never tried a mushroom pizza steak w/fried onions, you're missing out.

Insanity in a hoagie bun! Philly is known for its cheesesteaks and although many chains have tried to reproduce the hype and flavor, rare is the occasion that it actually happens. South Philly steps up to the plate and hits it out of the park. Its almost like they took Geno's off of S 9th and plopped it in Park Hill. Amazingly authentic down to the fact that every time I have been in there the guys are watching some Philadelphia sporting event. Word to the wise, if you aren't from Philly (like me) they will probably know. I stepped up to the counter and ordered a "Whiz with" and the guy looked at me, smirked and confirmed what I wanted in plain English..."Philly with Cheeze Whiz?" In my excitement, I said "hell yeah"

    (4)
  • Maria H.

I have eaten Pat's and Geno's cheesesteaks in Philadelphia and surprisingly a small restaurant in Denver, CO called South Philly can actually compare. I thought I would never see a cheese steak served with 'Whiz' unless I visited Philly again but South Philly has them! The bread is soft, the meat is juicy, and they load on the Whiz!!! The fries are piping hot. The wait can be a little long but well worth it. It can get a little crowded at times; I think there are less than 10 tables for seating. And since they cook to order, there are always a lot of people standing around waiting for their to-go orders.

Hands down the best Cheesesteak in Denver. I've been here 4 times and have yet to be disappointed. I wouldn't waste my time or money at some of the other Cheesesteak establishments. This is the one.

I yelped this place and realized it was right by where I am! The place smelled amazing when I walked in the store. I pretty much did my research before I went in so I knew what I wanted. A mushroom cheesesteak with the infamous CHEESE WHIZ! It was a little pricey but well worth it. It was pretty empty when I went so I didn't have to take long for my philly. It tasted and smelled soo good when I unwrapped it. And the taste was just awesome!! Oh and I told them I was a student at JWU and they gave me a discount! score! I will definitely visit this place again!!

Cheese....steaks.....zombies crave cheesesteaks. So J and I ventured into this little known strip mall at 22nd and Oneida for Spicy Thai a few months back and that place was decent. I couldn't see what SPC was from across the street, and honestly thought it was either a liquor store, gun shop or pawn shop...or a 24 hr pawn shop that sells both guns and alcohol. Any hoo, I had a craving for cheesesnakes at work and went on the search to find this place close by Stapleton. I grabbed a footlong "the Works" with green peppers on it and c-c-c-c-combo'd it with a Pepsi and fries. The cheesesnake itself wasn't too bad, but it's far from the level I was expecting with the rave reviews for this place, in fact I was disappointed I didn't receive pleasured orally. The bun was good, it was soft yet warm, almost a little sweet to the taste which makes the gooey goodness of the meatcheese come out a little. The wow factor comes from the fact that the entire cheesesnake is the same firmness, unlike other places where the buns are usually hard and then gets soggily soft with the grease and cheese (Jersey Mike's I'm lookin at you!). The taste of the sandwich itself though...lacked seasoning. I really felt like it needed more bounce to the ounce. For their fries, they use large cut fries but once again, they were unsalted. If there's one thing that's essential to fries it's that you salt them IMMEDIATELY after getting them out of the fryer, the salt mates with the leftover oil and makes the fries taste like heaven. I am not a big fan of huge fries because it makes me feel like they're trying to stuff me with starch rather than the entree. Maybe it's cause I wasn't drunk off my ass watching a Yankee's game but to me the place was only okay. I'd say though, for the price it wasn't too bad a meal, but there is plenty of room for improvement. Ching Chang Walla Walla Bing Bang.

My oh my. Every. single. bite. will make you simultaneously think "This is so f-ing good, I must eat more" and "I should not be eating this, I might as well fill a ziploc bag with cheez whiz and tape it to my ass, I'm so disgusting." Every. single. time. I go in there, the cool chick compliments me on something I'm wearing. If you've read anything else I've ever written, you may have guessed that I am not what you would call a fashionista. Plus, whenever I'm here I am in the middle of painting or gardening or cleaning. But I noticed the trend right away, and I've been testing it. The first time I was wearing a NY hat and so everyone in the shop joked with me about it. The next time, the cool chick said she liked my pants and wanted to know where I got them. (Um, JC Penney, like 2 years ago?) Today I was wearing my man's t-shirt, might as well be a night shirt on me, and she said, "Oh, I love White Castle burgers! Cool shirt!" So it doesn't matter how grimey or stinky or dorky I am, they will always welcome me with open arms at South Philly Cheesesteaks. Ambiance is about a 2, there is a mural of South Philly on the wall but otherwise nothing much to make it stand out. But you don't come here for the fine linen, you come here for the people --family owned, the owner is always manning the grill-- and the inexpensive, guilt-inspiring food, served up fast.

AMAZING! I'm from the Philly area originally and this is the best cheesesteak you're going to get in Denver, Amoroso rolls and all. The owner and employees are friendly and great. My husband and I always order the pepper cheesteak, mine with chicken. Nacho cheese sauce for cheese fries just like at the fairs growing up. Best hangover meal and good way to suprise your friends with a real cheesesteak in Denver!

I get the cheese steak hoagie and fries here for lunch regularly and it is delicious. My one knock is that the staff seems a little spacey from time to time with my order but that is part of the South Philly experience.

I had to drive quite a ways to check this place out, and I got the sandwich to go. Location is very bland but service is friendly and efficient. I had to wait to try my sandwich a good 40 minutes after it was made, it was exquisite. I know it's just a sandwich, but it was just perfect, bread, soft and chewy, plenty of cheese and onions blended with perfectly cooked beef. A real find that's a little out of the way but worth it!!

I go to the one up on Wadsworth in Westminster. 1st time I went the cheesesteak was incredible. I've been back 5 times and every time I go back the quality is worse. Not sure if it's the cook or what. I do notice that a different chef is back there everytime I go. I still go back w/ the hope I get a sandwich similar to the 1st time!

    (3)
  • Maria M.

We love these cheese steaks! My fav has it with sweet peppers (gotta order extras), mushrooms and provalone....or whiz. Depends on my mood. The onion rings are great for battered style. I'm deducting a star for the fries. I live just a few blocks away so we eat here fairly regularly typically doing carry-out, and the fries are almost always soggy by the time I get home. Good fries should stand up longer than five minutes in a bag.

I absolutely LOVE this place! They are the super speedy and the people who work there are very friendly. I am originally from the Philadelphia area so my standards for cheesesteaks are high and this place definitely lives up to it!

These sandwiches are the bomb! The owner Jeff is soo passionate about his sandwiches and he's actually from Philly. Best cheesesteak I've had! The restaurant is tucked back in the neighborhood on 22nd and Oneida but it's worth the trip.

  • Peter P.

I am totally in love with everything about this place. The food is crazy good, the people are really nice, the beer is CHEAP, there is always sports on the tv, and the patio is really nice on sunny days... But nothing is better than the bread. Real honest to goodness Amoroso's bread can make any sandwich into a winner, and this is no exception. I honestly want to eat here at least twice a week.

  • Alan S.

Jeet? This is the most authentic cheesesteak in town. A lot of places have a "steak and cheese" sandwich, and some even call it a a Philly cheesesteak. They are kind like when my Minnesota parents first tried to make Mexican food in the 70's...it tasted pretty good, but wound up being completely off the mark. A couple years ago, I finally got to Philly for the real thing. This is the only place in Denver I've been to that makes me think of Geno's or Pat's. Everything else is just a steak and melted cheese sandwich. Service is great, and Jeff is always has a friendly word, even if he is working the grill during lunch rush. And if you are looking for a change of pace, he makes a great Reuben. UPDATE: Yes, they have whiz.
