My husband is originally from Moscow and when he craves particular Russian foods, we always shop here. He loves visiting with the woman who frequently mans the counter (I like her, too :), and loves the pickled products. Not everything here is Russian, but that's our focus. They also carry some of my husband's favorite Russian candies and music from childhood. charming shop with Russian eats and a warm and generous shopkeeper.

This is a small shop with a wide selection of specialty foods. We were warmly welcomed as soon as we walked in the door, and sincerely thanked when we left. We were impressed (and thoroughly tempted) by the selection of breads, desserts, and savory snacks. We'll have to visit again when we're in need of some fine food.

I am not familiar with other local similar stores. We do not live close by, but it is worth the drive for us to get buckwheat at prices that are a fraction of what Whole Foods charges. Bread and some pasta varieties we can also find only there. Lavash is fantastic, and I have always been partial to rye bread. My kids adore rich creamy ice cream, candy, and soda, which is not packed with chemicals. We also buy fish not found in supermarkets, very reasonably priced, from raw to cooked or smoked. Sometimes meat selection is great - it comes from local farms. While on different occasions we've been there selection and prices varied, we manage quite nicely.

Well I know now that you can not trust everything you read and one walk around in this market was all it took. Save the trip and find another place if you are looking for specialty foods. I was into buying local this weekend from brews to food for a cookout on Sunday and well I wasted 45 minutes driving there and then shifting gears and heading to Whole Foods like I should have in the first place.

Great little store, had everything i was craving, but i was a little dissappointed with the deli meat selection. Great sweet cheese spread with raisins, and very friendly owners who immediately assumed I was russian and greeted me in Russian. - CHELLOO! Zdravstvuite! My absolute favorite are the pickled red tomatoes, great for salads, hangovers, and appetizers! yum!

Yep, it's just a Russian store. It's a bit on pricey side as Russian stores in the area go. But it's the cleanest, and it's my first choice for the cold cuts and my wonderful stinky smoked mackerel. They are also probably one of the least intimidating to a non-Russian speaker. If you buy cans/jars, watch out for the expiration date. The candy is great, mostly dark chocolate. Try the aerated chocolate bars. Also, they have wonderful fresh exotic cakes.

Once upon a time when Robin was a little girl, she, her siblings and Mother would walk to a Polish deli in St. Louis so her Mom could pick up lunch meat. Being a wise Mom she first had her children each pick out a pickle from the big pickle barrel at the end of the deli counter. This kept her little ones happy and busy while she took care of her shopping. Me and my sibs would sit on the stoop out front and savor our well picked out pickles. Why did I open this review with a story of my youth? Well one of the things she would pick up was a cold cut called krakauer. For whatever reason I have been craving this even though I haven't had it since I was a kid way back in St. Louis. So where did I turn in my search - to my fellow knowledgable Yelpers. I was given a couple recommendations and decided to try this place first since it was the closest to my abode. Walking in I was reminded of some of the delis of my youth, well stocked with a selection of goodies and a friendly gentleman behind the deli case that welcomed me as I walked in the door. Looking in the meat case my eyes were draw to a label that read "KRAKAUER" Score! I ordered some and preceeded to wander the isles. I really wished I read Russian, however I recognized alot and there were English translations on some items so I was set. After picking out a couple more items I went back to the counter and paid (very reasonable prices). I couldn't wait to get home to take a taste and grabbed a couple slices in the car - I was in my happy place. The interesting thing was that one of the other items I picked up was a jar of baby dill pickles, they just looked tasty (and they were).

I've been shopping at the European Mart for about 10 years and have never been disappointed. This is a small family owned business, and the owners are friendly, accommodating and helpful. The shop is old fashioned (which I like) and it is clean as a whistle. The owners make their own sauerkraut, (only when firm cabbage is in season), and it is fabulous. It is soooo much better than what you can buy elsewhere, and it's great for you... They also make their own pickled green tomatoes that are great. The deli meats are top quality, the selection is very, very good (they have tons of different salami, for example) and the prices are very, very reasonable, given the quality. Try it, you will like it!

My wife and I love to visit the European mart. We make a special trip across town just to go to the store. It may be smaller than other international grocery stores but it is well worth the travel time. The owners of this store are very friendly, which seems to be pretty unusual with these kind of stores. They have a great deli too.

Realistically, this is one of the worst Russian delis. It is certainly the most expensive one. The salads are not very fresh and it seems that the quality has gone down over the years. 10 years ago perhaps it was decent but time has passed and the owners have failed to upkeep the place, the selection and the quality. There are now so many more places i town to shop. Just travel a bit further on Leetsdale and Oneida and choose your favorite with much better pricing. Wish I could give it a1.5 stars.

Great small local Russian deli. However, this is not just a Russian place. There is food from all over Europe, including some German delights. The best part about this place is the deli counter. Are you looking for a good deli, then go here. The prices are very reasonable. In fact it is cheaper to buy the quality stuff here than to go to your local grocery store for that garbage. My suggestions - There is a Hungarian smoked ham called Karaj. It is a heavily smoked pork loin. If you have a recipe that calls for prosciutto, substitute this instead. It does not have the fat of prosciutto and I think the flavor is 10 times better. Plus its about 7 dollars a pound. Prosciutto can be 20 dollars a pound. The Salmon Lacs here is very cheep and better quality than you will get from a normal market. The salamis here are wide and varied. But be sure to try one called Moscow (there is dark and light, dark is better) If you want traditional Salami. Try the Hungarian ones. The bread here is really good. Also try something called Gretchka. If you want something to interchange with rice but with way more fiber. This is it. Its not expensive at all. Be sure to ask the lady which version is like rice? Because the other versions of it will cook like oatmeal. I know a great dish that uses it so if you want a suggestion on how to use it drop me a line. Its kinda Russian middle eastern fusion dish from the Caucasian region. They have great candies and chocolate that are very reasonably priced. Check out the chocolate (can't remember the name of it) that comes in a giant box. It melts in your mouth.

This is good small mostly Russian market. Being originally from Russia myself I like to find foods I had as a child, and this place has a pretty good selection of what I'm looking for. A few tips for those of you who are not too familiar with Russian fare, try these: 1) Grechka (or buckwheat) as a sub for oatmeal or rice. Its much higher in fiber than other grains and is also full of protein. Make it the same way as rice, then dress with butter and Vegeta (seasoning you can find at this store). Yumm! 2) Pelmeni (Russian dumplings) sold in the frozen section. Just boil in water and serve dressed with sour cream and once again...Vegeta! Even my wife who's not Russian loves em. And make sure to pick up the sour cream here...it's the best. 3) Try the delicious all natural Russian and polish deli, much better than anything you'll find in a grocery store! Minskaya is a must try as well as Doctorskaya (which is like bologna but better). The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is that the overall selection could be better but overall this is a very good store! Spasibo for being there and giving us Russians a taste of home!

This shop is near the Russian District of Denver. You didn't know there was one? I don't know the exact boundaries, but it seems to be roughly Leetsdale and Monaco. In fact, this deli/grocery should be called the Russian Mart. Yes, I'm aware that much of Russia is part of Europe, but all the same it would be much more specific, wouldn't it? Lots of candy, pastas and other staples, much of it I didn't know what it was because I don't read Russian so great. Strangest finds: guarana soda! If you're Russian and looking for a bit of the home country, give this place an extra star. For the rest of us, it's not a bad little store and I'm totally going to try some Russian candy.

I went here today looking for some polish deli foods. The cashier was very friendly and helped me find Pierogi, Feta Cheese, Polish Kielbasa and Zurek soup. I will come back again for bread which is of better quality and cheaper than the organic yuppie chain stores like whole foods.
