Awful! We ordered through GrubHub & it took over an hour to get here, even though the restaurant is only a couple of miles away. Ordered a BLT, I got a couple of floppy pieces of bread with two burnt slices of bacon, a huge slice of unripened tomato, a a soggy piece of lettuce, & a slice of red onion (on a BLT???) (no mayo, although it was said to come with chipolte mayo), I asked for soup & got hard as a rock waffle fries. My husband ordered a BBQ bacon cheeseburger, & got a plain cheeseburger, but his onion rings were okay... best part of the meal (which isn't saying much!). I'd say skip it!

My husband and I had such a good experience last night. The service was good and the food was delicious! They just recently expanded their menu and they really have a lot to choose from! I highly recommend checking this place out. My only complaint is that the lighting is a little too bright for my liking....it would be nice if they dimmed the lights a bit. Otherwise, service is awesome and food is awesome. The Christmas decorations were nice too :)

Was kind of bummed with my one and only experience so far... Especially because of the good reviews on food as well as the close proximity to my house. My mom and I went in to the restaurant to sit at the bar and get some food and beer. After 20 minutes, no one showed up. There were other people playing pool with drinks, even a few gentlemen at the bar with plates and drinks. So, where was the bartender/server for TWENTY minutes? And I wish I was exaggerating about the length of time; it became a game for us to see how long it would take for someone to appear. It was freaky to see no one working after that length of time. I have zero patience for that kind of 'service' (or lack thereof), therefore when the clock stuck :20, we left and went to The Walnut Room.

I like many others, ordered through grub hub. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak (with no peppers) with a side salad and my boyfriend ordered a burger with the waffle fries. When our order arrived, I was highly disappointed. I didn't get my salad and my sandwich was covered in red peppers. I immediately called and was just going to ask for a refund. The man I spoke with was beyond nice. He apologised profusely and offered to remake my order and have it delivered asap. I didn't expect that at all... Just that gesture alone was enough. Not even 15 mins later my sandwich and salad arrived. The delivery guy then tried to give us money back as well, but we declined to take the money. They went above and beyond to make sure I was a satisfied. Amazing customer service and good food!

I really battled with myself about writing this review because I have met the co-owner (Matthew) and he is an absolute delight. (Because of that, I brought my mother and sister into the restaurant today for lunch...) Our waitress, Christina, was friendly and accomodating when we first entered the establishment- occupied by only one other couple prior to our arrival. We ordered our food (two sandwiches, two pizzas) then didn't see or hear from her for 40 minutes. She finally brought the sandwiches out (cold and made incorrectly) and said that there was only one cook there and because of how busy they were, the pizzas had just gone in the oven. I asked her if when she brought them to me, she could do so in boxes because I had to get back to work (as most 9-hour shift workers, I'm only granted one hour for lunch). We didn't see her again for another ten minutes, then she finally arrived only to tell me that the pizzas were still cooking. (Note that an apology for the long wait or her constant absence never left her mouth.) My sister asked if she knew when the pizzas would be doen because my lunch break was over and I HAD to get back to work. Christina responded incredibly rudely (we're still in shock as to why) then turned and walked away. She came back a few minutes later with the check and said, "I took the pizzas off. Also, I'm not the cook so...." then turned and stomped away. I have a lovely, sweet-hearted family who didn't complain once about the temperature of the food, or the fact that the sandwiches were not made the way they'd asked for them to be. All we wanted to know was when the pizzas would be out so I could call my office and let them know how late I'd be. This girl is completely oblivious to what customer service is, or she simply doesn't care. Not everyone knows how to conduct themselves in a difficult situation, but it takes a very "special" kind of person to behave with the utter and complete lack of decency that Christina did, and this establishment would be much better off without her. If Christina had at least been apologetic about the wait and not such a dispicably rude person, I'd be inclined to try this place again. I may a few months from now. Hopefully she's gone by then.

We went there this evening and we will never be back. Our burgers were horrible and barely edible. We sat outside and the music was so loud that we couldn't hear ourselves think. Plus, employees kept coming out onto the patio, where we were eating, to smoke weed and cigarettes. I can't wait to see this one go out of business.

Food is awful. Atmosphere is awful. Service is deplorable at best. The late night female bartender will throw your drink out.

The wings. Oh my Lanta the wings. They are definitely some of the better ones I have found in Denver. During football season, broncos specials are awesome. But really though - the wings.

I am still trying to figure out all of the hours, and I think that the beer list could use a bit of help, but it is safe to say that I am a fan of this place. The service is always very friendly, and the food is very solid. Great burgers and amazing Green Chili. Great patio outside, which should be great this summer. Cool vibe inside,

I started going after the Closing of Eden. I must say it was a nice change. The New Downing St Grill is bright inside and inviting. The Burgers are great,

I ordered delivery through Grubhub. It took an hour and a half to get my food delivered. Downing ST Grill failed to update their ordering menu, so I was charged for sliders I never received. I had to call Grubhub to get the refund due to this restaurant's mistake. The burger I ordered was not only cold, but dry and bland as well. I highly doubt that I will order from here again.

Awesome wings (get em extra crispy) especially the 50 cent deal on Sundays. $5 pitchers of domestics during happy hour. Glad this place popped up in the neighborhood!!

  • Megan R.

Three strikes in our first visit. First, due to apparent need to change the keg, it took 30 minutes to get the pitcher of beer we ordered when we arrived. Second, the mac and cheese balls had a long and noticeable piece of dark hair baked right in. Third, although the manager apologized and offered to either give me a free bloody (which I didn't want, because my first wasn't very good) or take $6 off the bill, I choose the comp--and they instead brought another bloody, which I didn't touch. This all when there were maybe 4 or 5 tables...which also made it harder to swallow that the waitress was slow and we had to specifically ask more than once for refills on water or soda. The food was good, but nothing spectacular by bar food standards. Go to the Whittier down the street. It's MUCH better.

They are a special kind of stupid rude here. They messed up their own recipe on the philly cheese steak, then refused to send me a correct sandwich. My advice. Don't order delivery.

Tried to call and order a pizza. 3 times and nobody answers. Phone goes to some personal voicemail. Ordered online, got estimated delivery 45-60 minutes. Waited 2.5 hours and no pizza came but they took my money...

I'd never heard of this place before but it may very well become a place that I frequent. The food menu may be limited but it included all of the things one could want. We tried two appetizers because they're half the price during Broncos games. The pork nachos were really tasty! The presentation of the Mac and cheese balls was very impressive too. Everything was delicious and unique and with $10 pitchers of microbrews, I think most Denverites will be pleased. Also, the interior as well as exterior has a lot of character (not dirty dive bar "character" but clean, hip, new charm). I hear they do poker on one week night and Saturday too (up to $3k); it's too bad I don't know how to play. :) This place overall seems like a great place to go for a dinner date, drinks with friends, and watching the game. I'll certainly be back.

I ordered Downing Street Grill from Grubhub. They're always very fast, and their food is amazing. Larkin is a particularly awesome delivery driver. The burgers here are always superior to any other, and I really dig that you can get them pretty late.

TEXAS HOLD'EM POKER GAME is presented for FREE on Wednesday evenings. For the holidays Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, the Texas Hold'em Poker games are suspended until the New Year. However, I have played in the Free games and have had a GREAT time. The crowd is fun to play and friendly. Appetizers are half price until 7:00 PM and they have drink specials. They have a Wednesday evening Burger and Beer special which I tried one week and the Beer and Burger were fantastic. The Burger was fresh and prepared to my instructions. The burger patty was not frozen but handmade. The service is awesome with Christina and Vanessa. Both fast, efficient, and active listeners. The service during the Poker game was awesome as well. COME PLAY FREE POKER! THE MORE PLAYERS THE BIGGER THE PRIZES. IF we get enough for two tables, the prizes increase and the poker game and crowd is always fun. Last night, was the best yet. A full poker table, fun game, good crowd, and the winners split the prizes. Friendly and fun game. If you do not know how to play Texas Hold'em Poker, we can help. Just ask and we can give you instructions on the game. Then you can make the decision on how YOU will play your cards. This is a FRIENDLY and FREE game of poker. Come have some FUN on a Wednesday evening. If you win, there is a tournament in February, later in the month after the NFL Superbowl. The new menu was just introduced and I have tried several items. The beef burrito was great which I tried on the last Wednesday (10 DECEMBER 2014). But the best discovery I found was the apple beer. I do not know the name but it is not Angry Orchard beer but another apple beer on tap and it is FANTASTIC! Try the apple beer. The atmosphere is wonderful. I like the fireplace and snowboards. The main dinning room feels like a ski lodge as we enter the winter season. The main dinning room is decorated for Christmas and the windows are frosted and the decorations are very little and a nice touch to the main dinning room. I am having fun discovering all the new touches each week. An air hockey machine was added this week to the first floor entrance. In the same entry is a Ms. PacMan game machine. My favorite quarter disappearing act. I LOVE this game. Have fun and come and tell and BRING your friends to the Wednesday night POKER. FREE, FUN, PRIZES, POKER, and fun crowd to learn and play Texas Hold'em Poker, FREE. And did I mention PRIZES. Cheers!

I must admit, I really miss the food from when it was Eden- I loved that menu! I really wanted to like Downing St. Grill since it's right around the corner from me, but unfortunately the menu was rather boring and the taste of the food was unremarkable. I've only been once so far for lunch, and would only consider going back for a drink on the patio.. or maybe a game day viewing (but that's not really my thing). I should admit to some bias, I am not a fan of sports bars, and that is most definitely the feel of the space- I was completely surrounded by TVs (all of which had commentary-style shows playing without sound or subtitles- so they were a pointless distraction). The feel of the space is just kind of careless and boring... it feels rather generic. Bummer. Pros: The patio is nice- I'm sure it would be nice to have a drink out there on a sunny day.

Im going to start by saying i am not a big fan of ordering bar food from grub hub, i enjoy the atmosphere of a bar. Me and my roomates started going to downing about 6 months ago and to this day are repeat customers. The staff is awesome day and night and the owners being present helps give it a a good atmosphere. The food is great especially their new menu they debuted yesterday. Call me old fashioned but i enjoy a place i can drink cheap beer and eat good food. I mean in all honesty its a bar. As far as bars go this is one of my favorite in Denver to go with a group of friends and hang out. Not a party or 5 star resteraunt spot. But a great neighborhood hangout. I highly recommend you give it a shot.

  • John R.

The 1star reviews on here must be from the previous owners, or the owners before that. I have heard they had lots of transition here. But the new staff is great. We love the bartender Joe....almost as much as we love the Downing Street burger. Holy hell it's good. Buy one get one happy hour and two dollars off appetizers make the afternoon a great time to stop by.

This place is all over the board with the quality of their food. Some nights great. Tonight sucked. Pizza was tasteless and had chopped canned pineapple...a departure from why we like this place to begin with...fresh! Sauce was bland. Our pizza was much smaller then a week ago. Last time we're coming back. Shame. Could be a great neighborhood pub. But it blows.

  • Annie E.

Well the food is ok and you get what you pay for. Service blows. In the winter, it's downright freezing in there too. The plus- the pizza is amazing. Pick up or have it delivered. Wait staff obviously not top Notch. It's always got dirty tables while the staff does nothing. Hope they pick up their quality because it's in a cool place & has Potential.

While the food was ok, I ordered delivery and the order was not correct and the cookie we ordered was charcoal black. I tried to call during business hours and the man who answered hung up on me and then would not answer my call. I would have ordered again another time but definitely not after the rude service! Buyer beware! !!!!

  • MaryLynn D.

Well... I ordered food for delivery OVER TWO HOURS AGO and have already called into the restaurant for an explanation. They assured me the food would be here in less than 10 minutes. (I live within ONE MILE of the place)... It's been almost another 30 minutes. I prepaid with a 20% tip. MAJOR mistake. They've definitely lost some customers after our experience tonight. This is unacceptable.

Ordered the patty melt with no onions through eat24.com . We had a group order for our office and I haven't checked with anyone else for order accuracy. My patty melt came with all the onions described and I am very disappointed. I won't order from here again.

We went in for happy hour. A "regular" went nuts and started tipping tables and threw a chair at a window right past us and broke it. Went into the street and caused issues with passing cars. The manager said to not call police, and the server thankfully still did. That same night ran out of wings and cheese for pizzas. Customer's safety should be the #1 priority. Police should have been called right away, no matter who it is. Never going back.ever

COULD NOT LEAVE!!! After about 30 minutes that's when we received our FIRST drinks. There were literally only 9 people in the bar, not including my party of 2. Seemed like the waitress/waitresses forgot that we were in there, meaning by the time our food got to the table it was just warm- at best. Terrible service.

  • Megan T.

Horrible. I ordered through grub hub at 7:30pm. It is now almost 9:30pm and my food is still not here. Not happy, I will never order from them again based solely on this. The food may be amazing but I wouldn't know because I have a feeling it's never going to show up. Well food showed up...although I wish it would have been what I ordered. I ordered the pulled pork with waffle fries...I got 2 small little sliders. Very large difference in price. So my one star rating stands. If I could give no stars I would.

After a long day on the road, we ordered some delivery to the hotel. Egg rolls were soggy. Food was cold. No plastic utensils. The only thing worse than a salad with no fork? A salad with no dressing. No dipping sauce with the dry rotisserie chicken either. Probably the worst meal I've ever had. Biggest waste of $40 in a while as well.

My boyfriend and I ordered a couple burgers and an appetizer off GrubHub around 6pm on a Monday. We were quoted a delivery time of 7:40, which seemed kind of crazy but whatever. Maybe the long wait time meant they were super busy because the food was so good (nope). 8:00 rolls around and FINALLY our order shows up. We rip into the delivery bag and practically start laughing. My burger came with four tiny onion rings and my boyfriend's a handful of floppy, soggy waffle fries. Both were served in giant boxes which only emphasized the embarrassingly minimal amount of food in them. I asked for extra chipotle mayo on my burger and received none at all. My boyfriend asked for no tomato on his and received no veggies at all (although I think they did him a favor as the one piece of lettuce on my burger was wilted and the tomato slice was practically white). Amazingly, each burger was burnt to a crisp on the outside (we're talkin' a thiiiiiiick layer of crust) yet still red on the inside. Never seen a burger cooked like that before so...bravo? The pizza roll appetizer we ordered was the only highlight of the meal. It arrived ice cold, but a quick spin in the microwave brought it back to life. It came with a small cup of marinara sauce for dipping, which they covered with a lid at least 5 times too big for the cup. It was hilarious and ridiculous and kind of a miracle that the sauce didn't spill everywhere in transit. Time to restock the kitchen, Downing Street! In conclusion, a two hour wait and $40 for the worst burgers we've ever had. Don't. Just........don't.

  • Dennis O.

The worst meal I ever had delivered from Grub Hub, I normally don't write negative reviews. I paid what I thought was exorbitant prices and the food was really bad, I paid extra for the three onion rings that I got and were cold. I would recommend avoiding at all times

We actually liked the food and portions on what we ordered the 1st time.. This time we ordered, (delivery again) we tried the beef sliders, the pork sliders, and the mozzarella sticks.. The price for each item was $8.00.. We got the food in a decent amount of time (so no problem there) but, we asked for all the condiments to be put on the side, which wasn't done.. Then, we open the sliders 1st and there were only 2 beef, and 2 pork sliders in each order, (regular small slider size) For $8.00!? So, $4.00/piece for a slider!!?? That's just a rip-off in our opinions.. We figured, "maybe they are worth it with the flavor or meat used", etc.. This is when we realized the condiments weren't on the side, they was smack dab in the middle of each slider! This was irritating, as it makes each piece of food soggy.. Then, we take a bite of the pork sliders and the meat was WAY over cooked, dry, and burnt! The beef sliders were already soggy by this time from the sauce of course, and the meat is WAY over spiced in our opinions.. Again, $4.00/per slider!? Come on Downing Street Grill, we needed a good grill food delivery spot and thought we'd found 1.. U def lost our biz from now on! To top it all off, we start eating the mozzarella sticks (which were also over cooked) and there were 2 sticks that the cheese was fully absent from.. Meaning we paid $8.00 again for some sticks which 2 were just fried breading and un-edible.. This is un-acceptable for any restaurant standards and should not have been sent out.. We would've gladly waited longer, (with a phone call explaining the food came out bad and was being re-made) and been much more happy/continued to order from u guys.. Alslo, where's the quality check before food gets sent out for delivery? Like, to check out if maybe the stuff we asked for, specifically, was taken care of? (Sauce and condiments on the side is pretty important stuff) Again, we were so disappointed, we won't be ordering food from you ever again! I hope it was worth it because WE order delivery twice a week and liked your food the 1st time.. I would recommend a quality check on all outgoing orders, just to make sure this doesn't ruin the side of your biz that was actually worth ordering from.. As the pizzeria was exed out the 1st time we tried it.. Not good at all! Save your money and get McDonald's, it's definitely better and much more price acceptable for the food served.. JUST SAY NO TO DOWNING STREET GRILL/PIZZERIA, UNLESS U WANT TO WASTE YOUR MONEY!! Total rip-off.. We'd love a refund, honestly, but week leave that up to the professionalism of the owners/managers.. We'll re-post if this happens..

Really my experience was 2 stars, but it was early in their process, so I'm hoping for a future 3 star experience. The food is fine if not unremarkable. Nothing I would crave, but serviceable as a "bar and grill" I suppose. I had the pulled pork sandwich, it was okay, the coleslaw was pretty wet/mayo-y and the BBQ sauce tasted like it was straight out of a bottle, which is fine, but BBQ sauce isn't hard to make and would be a nice touch if it was homemade. The happy hour specials were lacking...so I just had water. Our server (thin gal with very short hair) was very nice and checked on us often.

Occupying the bar space in the old Tosh's-Kiva-Blackberry's-Swallows-Eden building, Downing Street shows promise. Walking in, the place is pretty much Eden (the last resident of the space) warmed over. You walk in off Downing street as before, and are greeted by a sad, empty coat-check. There are two strange crystal chandeliers and then an odd green curtain over a door as you make the same old awkward left turn and go up the stairs in to the bar space. The bar area hasn't changed at all from Eden as far as I can tell except for a couple of new booth configurations. As such the place looks like what it is--A space that has been re-purposed five times in ten years and is quite sterile. It's not offensive, but lacks any individuality and is overall very "meh". I will say that there are some good bones there though, with the nice bee hive fireplace still there from the Tosh's days, and a huge patio that had always been pleasant in warmer times of the year. The menu is pretty focused, with primarily sandwiches, salads and burgers. Sound familiar? It should, it's pretty much what the neighborhood has already with Jake's and the Whittier. What we had was pretty good, though. I had the "Downing Street" burger, with Jalapenos, cream cheese, and a decent green chili on the side. It could have used a slab of tomato to round it out but the burger was quite juicy and pretty tasty, and sandwiched in a wonderful brioche bun so it gets an "AOK". My wife had a pulled-pork sandwich which was somewhere between "Meh" and "AOK"; with nice tender pork and afore-mentioned bun but nothing spectacular. I got fries on the side which were nicely crisp and well-but-not-overly seasoned. My wife got a salad on the side which was very generous for a side. I've heard some people in Whittier are complaining there are no vegetarian options on the menu. While I get it, and they likely should have something on the menu, I hope that anyone that is complaining about this was a frequent customer at Eden, the place with amazing vegetarian and healthy options that recently occupied the space before going under because of a lack of business. Just like every place that has preceded it in the space, Downing doesn't have draft beer (Tosh's, nor Kiva ever installed taps). So, you're stuck with bottled beers and mixed drinks. Their happy hour specials were a bit Meh" with discounts on domestic bottles and well cocktails--No food specials. Service was friendly and attentive. Overall I think where Downing Street stands right now can be summed up with one final observation. When we paid, our bill, generated by the POS, still said "Eden" on it. I absolutely hope the folks behind the place can stay afloat as they (hopefully) figure some things out and put more personality into the space, and their offerings.

The food was delivered an hour after scheduled plus they charged $5 for the delivery. Food was straight up cold. Wings are poor at best. I emailed them asking for a comment and I got a phone call asking if i placed an order. Can't explain that one.

Ordered a smothered burrito with no cheese and extra green chili and pico... The burrito came with extra cheese and no green chilli and no pico. And I am allergic to cheese! Decent burrito, maybe worthy of 4 stars with green chilli.

Whoa, those green chili mac and cheese balls are delicious! And expertly presented! The habanero glaze on those was a little too spicy though for me. Eyes watered and mouth still burning after 20 minutes. And a beer and a half. Here for the first time during happy hour. Great beers on tap! Very very happy with the beer selection! Had a hard time choosing. Great divide, 312, some delightful strong ipa. Y'all should check this place out. I know I'll be back because there's jazz playing!

Ever watch the show Bar Rescue? This place has needed it ever since it stopped being Swallows back in the day . Food was mediocre and over priced. Nothing was fresh. No veggie burger in denver? wTF!! Didn't have basic things for salad such as mozzarella cheese for caprise no cucumbers in the Greek. Only people there drinking was their off the clock staff. And what's up with the arcade games when you walk in? Are you trying to be a family bar? A sports bar? Or a lesbian bar? I know what you are is an empty bar. Staff was friendly. Beautiful space with a lot of potential , unfortunately every year its a new manager or owner changing the name but never the concept. This neighborhood is about to be the next big hing in denver. It'd be sad to see this nice venue turn into condos

Really delicious cuisine in every way, the flavor is right and the vibe here is cool. With an open floor plan you can mingle or you mix. The fried pickles are perfect and the burgers are award winning. Go here!

this was the most disgusting food i have ever had in my life!! they dont serve nachos, they serve burnt potato skins and list them as nachos on the menu; the chicken is tyson frozen char broiled chicken breasts that they just cut up and throw on top of the burnt potatoes; i wouldnt feed this crap to a trash can. i dont recommend any one ever going there. you will be scarred for life; its also funny how the owner gets on here thanking people for their support. there is no way he cant tell that the food sucks. 0stars!!!!!!!

I created this account just to write this review because the food was so awful. We ordered through grub hub and an hour later our food arrived super cold. Super overpriced. The burger, yuck. Way too much garlic powder and the extremely overcooked burger had a thick crust on it. The bun and the whopping 4 waffle fries included with this like $11 burger were soggy. I've never wasted $20 like this, don't make the same mistake.

Beef Nachos were pretty much all chips and sour cream with a hint of beef. I made it it clear that i wanted extra Ranch with the wings. Guess what !! No ranch at all. Will never order from this place again.

I was not at all impressed with this place. The bartender Candace ignored us to the point we had to demand service. She of course blamed the server who was to busy texting on her phone to work. the food must of sat out for a while because it was cold when we got it.. It took way to long. They were not busy enough to have such lousy service. We will not go back.

Excellent experience and overall service. You can tell these guys have their heart in the game, and when they (the owners are the waitstaff) come by to ask if you're well taken care of they meant it. The food was also good--rather inspired and tasty. The pulled pork nachos were memorable, and the Mac and Cheese balls were delicious. What else can one expect from a start up restaurant? Often not much...this is not the case here. They are certainly more competitive than their cohorts in Denver. Boulevard Burger and Tap comes to mind. But at least this place is as attentive to quality as they are to your experience from door to table to door. I'll be back without doubt!

5 star rating!! I am fully impressed with this neighborhood restaurant! Owned by amazing people with an amazing staff!! We came in for lunch and Matt showed us around, they have a ton of room for private parties!! The menu is great! We had the fried zucchini and a couple of burgers! Awesome all around. I recommend people coming an checking this place out!! Pool table! Games!! Great TVs! Great patio!! Come check it out!

While I'm not quite sure what this place looked like in the past, I can see the potential in it for the future. It's obvious there are a few areas of improvement to be made. But the fact that they are working to improve it is apparent when you see how much space is still on the walls. They seem to be in the process of filling that space, which will eventually look great. Yes, it's called a grill. In time I hope they role with that and perhaps spread the smell of BBQ in the air from the kitchen. My portobello burger was good. It had had balsamic, onions, and red peppers, topped with feta. I'd definitely recommend it to the next person walking in. Price? Not bad at all. There could a few more options on the menu but I'm usually a fan of keeping it simple. Four or five more dishes might be nice. Location? Great. Easy to find and close to the light rail. Advice: make the front entrance a little more inviting When guests walk in. Get some Colorado beers in the coolers. Coloradans like supporting the amazing beers we brew here. Even the basics like fat tire or agave wheat. And if you want to get people in the door, advertise your specials. Where there's two-4-one, they will come. Lastly, sports sports sports! You've got the tv' for it! The only piece of sports gear I remember seeing in there was an Oregon ducks beer advertisement. All I can say is, you have a small amount of time before the Rockies hit the field. I'll be back for another portobello sandwich and because I know this place has what it takes.

As of July 25, 2014, they "just reopened a couple of days ago" and offer a limited bar menu with burgers and sandwiches. They have a website that offers zero information: phone, address, hours, even the current menu offerings. I have eight hungry and thirsty co-workers looking for Friday after-work spot, but a fact-finding mission is not in the cards. This place needs to kick themselves into gear and get their poop in a group.

Will never order from here again. Today i ordered their beef sliders, and a Taco plate. Lets start with the beef Sliders. You know what a slider is right? A miniature burger. Yea i don't care if they flew to Guam to get the beef there is no reason an order of sliders for 8$ should only come with 2. Yes they taste good but they are 100% not worth 4$ each. 1 Slider is almost the same price as a normal regular size cheeseburger. Yes I could of asked how many it came with, but for 8$ I expected more than 2. Now lets get to the taco plate for 9$. The taco plate comes with 4 soft tortillas, a small container of beans and beef which is 75% beans, and 3 VERY small containers of cheese, salsa, and sour cream. Oh and on top of that the tortillas were soggy and 1 was broken straight down the middle. Look for the pictures of the taco's and sliders and decide for yourself if you want to order from here

The food is average. I've now gotten delivery twice and the delivery service itself was okay but the food is pretty greasy, not very flavorful. I'm not dogging this place but given the quality you get vs what you pay it's not a great ratio. If there prices were like $3-$5 per item less I would be more accepting of the greasy food.

Ordered delivery from here. They called back twice within 45 minutes to let us know certain menu items were no longer available. Two hours later, our food still had not arrived. We called twice. It finally arrived. Our food order was not right and our food was awful... Everything was terrible. We will never reorder- I called and all they could say was sorry. I never do reviews either- I was just so disappointed. Save yourselves.

Living just a few blocks away, I want this place to finally be something that isn't terrible. It hasn't been a decent place to eat since it was Tosh's. I've gone several times with friends now, and it's off to an ok start. Our server has been the same very friendly girl every time. Not lightning fast service but it was ok. Twice I heard some excuse about why they didn't have iced tea. I don't care. It's Denver - you have iced tea - fresh brewed - always - Period. The food was all reasonably good and worth going back for, except for those wings. What in the world are those soggy, boiled, chewy skinned things on my plate? I can name 5 places in this zip code that have good-to-great wings. Yours are frankly terrible. Please reconsider them.

I've been here a few times, and I'm really liking the menu. Pulled pork sandwich and build your own burger is my favorite. Since they've been open, they've had some things to work on, however, each time it's gotten better. I'm glad they're using customer feedback to make the place better.

I accidentally happened upon this place earlier this afternoon. I live 2 blocks away and was surprised to see a new restaurant in the old Eden space. The signage isn't up yet but they JUST opened a week or two ago. I had tomato bisque and a grilled cheese sandwich for $8.00. The tomato bisque was tasty and warmed me up on a cold, winter evening. The brownie with ice cream I had for dessert helped fix my chocolate craving. The new owner talked to me and my friend for a few minutes and he was open to ideas and suggestions. The beers on tap are coming in a few weeks and in February, they will be offering Sunday brunch. The menu is small but suited my needs. They haven't had a grand opening yet - only a soft opening. They are trying to see who wanders in and how much interest there is in the neighborhood. The new signs will be up soon. So go to the Downing St Grill, order something, sit next to the fireplace, and welcome them to the neighborhood. Remember, they just opened, and more things are in the works for this new neighborhood hangout. Free wi-fi is available. You just have to ask.

Now that The Populist has discontinued its brunch, Downing Street Grill is the only game in town. The food is so so, but the staff is great. The tap selection needs work, but it's only a block from my house, so I'm willing to look the other way.

Had the chicken caesar and a few beers. Staff is very nice and attentive. It rained all night so I couldn't really checkout the patio, but it looks fun. I guess that gives me a good excuse to go back this weekend for brunch...

Tried Downing Street Grill tonight and I must say I was very impressed with the hospitality. The place has a warm feeling and our food was top notch for the price. Nothing elaborate, very simple, and tasty. Spoke with the mgr Travis about the plans and i was very impressed. I will be back with more people. Really happy to find a regular simple place to have dome good drinks and good food without breaking the bank.

Popped in for a quick bite and drink with my wife and it took nearly two hours to get one sandwich and one appetizer. They brought us a free round of beers but it took another half hour to get food, so by the time we were able to eat, we would've needed another drink and we had already had more than we intended. Probably won't ever be back.

I live within walking distance of this place and when I saw the sinage go up announcing a new grill in the area I was immediately excited. I like Jakes but sometimes find it a bit rough around the edges for me and my wife's taste. I also like Whittier but it can feel a bit small when it comes time for the big game and their menu is limiting to put it nicely. What I was looking for was the Goldilocks neighborhood sports bar- just right! When I opened my eyes and entered Downing Street Grill I thought I was in Eden! Mind you, not the mythical garden in the bible but the old restaurant that went under in the same location. Okay, so to be sure this place just doesn't do it for me as far as "sports grill" atmosphere goes. The decorations and atmosphere are uninspiring to say the least. If you are going to market yourself to the "grill" crowd you are going to have to do a bit more than just throw a few TV's on the wall. Just because we love sports doesn't mean we aren't discriminating when it comes to our sports bars! The waitress we had was nice and attentive but the drinks were truly awful. It was 2 for 1 happy hour so I got a whiskey/ginger ale and my wife got a vodka/soda. It tasted like they split the amount of alcohol you should have in one drink and served it in two. I don't know if the bartenders don't know how to make drinks or if they are just super stingy but it was the worst mixed drink I think I have had in Denver and my wife agreed. As far as the food goes I would probably give it a grade of C for average bar food. The pork sandwich was decent but not amazing and as another poster mentioned the slaw was soggy and BBQ sauce uninspiring. The most disappointing thing for me was that such little effort went into rebranding the space as a grill. This seems to me a classic case of "if a restaurant isn't working just change the name and menu and you are good to go!" Well, that doesn't work for me. I need a little more attention to detail and intention. I just can't help but feel that a great opportunity was missed here. I will go back and try this place again in two months or so and see if they have improved on anything. If not I will most likely not be back until the space changes names again, at which point I will cross my fingers and hope that someone who actually gives a $%!* bought the place. Until then here are my grades: Atmosphere: "D" Alcohol: "D-" Food: "C" Waitstaff: "B" Update: My wife and I went back this weekend for brunch. We figured we should give them a chance to redeem themselves after our first encounter. Well, they really shot themselves in the foot this time as I have officially downgraded them from a 2 star to a 1. I think 0 stars may be more appropriate as a star implies some sort of honor. I will try to relate a quick run down on the disaster that is Downing Street Grill. My wife ordered a breakfast burrito with no pork green chili (she is a vegetarian), add black beans and veggies. I ordered a "hang over special" add sausage with white toast. Her's came out smothered in green chili and mine came with no sausage or toast. Sent hers back and it came with no beans, no veggies, the cheese on top wasn't even melted, and swimming in a soup of salsa. It was pretty disgusting to look at and we just asked to have it taken off the bill and sent it back. Usually when a kitchen messes up the order for the first time don't they try to make sure to get it right the second time around?? This is the most amazing part- our waiter said he started the day before to do a little moonlighting and while he was serving us he put in his quit notice because of what a disaster this place was. I felt pretty bad for the guy as he was obviously new to the place and was getting zero support from the bartender or other waiter. They really threw him into the fire and I don't blame him one bit for quitting. Again, you can't make this stuff up. Oh, and the chef kept coming out and socializing with the customers. I felt like I was in bizaro land. Maybe if he spent a little more time paying attention to orders and a little less time socializing maybe they would have a higher rating. We saw a family of 4 get up and leave because of poor service and I saw the bartender apologize to numerous people because of mistakes and bad service. I really felt like I was in one of those tv shows where they find messed up restaurants and watch the circus disaster unfold. We both agreed that it was the WORST restaurant experience we had ever had. We also agreed that we will never be back. Sorry Downing Street Grill but we are two neighbors you will not see walk through your doors again.

Went there today for brunch. Meant to go to Avenue Grill but thought lets support local. Ordered the eggs Bennie, mine came out fine but my wife's eggs were cooked a la hockey puck. She asked for a redo and to their credit, and I do mean to their credit they gave her a completely new meal. My wife made a good comment - rather than just suffer in silence and never come back ask them to correct their mistake. Bottom line - we'll be back.

We ordered tonight from GrubHub and we were super disappointed. We got the Downing Street Burger with a side salad (which was $2 extra) and the Chicken Nachos. The burger was way overcooked and the toppings were pathetic. It's supposed to have habanero mayo, which they maybe put near the burger during prep but it certainly wasn't ON it. There was a single jalapeño, a single onion ring, and a quarter slice of lettuce. The side salad was pathetically small given that it cost MORE than fries. The nachos were the worst part though. The carton had maybe a half order at best, all smushed to one side, with a tiny dollop of sour cream in the corner. Supposedly there was chicken but the 2 shreds seemed to be an afterthought. I liked the house chips they were served on, which was the only redeeming quality. They delivered in about half the time promised, so that was a plus. I can't say I'll be getting this again.

Ordered through grub hub so I knew it'd take awhile (and it did) but the food was just terrible. Probably the worst veggie sandwich I've ever had. Zero flavor and the bread was terrible, it was thick and fell apart. Onion rings were way over cooked and hard. The food that was supposed to be hot wasn't even warm. I gave two stars because the salad was ok but I won't be ordering from here again.

After waiting two hours to receive my delivery order, it finally arrived, and was totally wrong. I ordered French onion soup, and got what looks like a chunk of cheese atop some black mush, with no broth. I'm not sure how one could call what i received soup. I also had ordered two of the soups, and got only that. My salad was supposed to come with egg and cheese, and has none. He restaurant doesn't answer their phones, so there is no way to really fix the situation.

Go here!

Will never order from this place again.

this was the most disgusting food i have ever had in my life!! they dont serve nachos, they serve burnt potato skins and list them as nachos on the menu; the chicken is tyson frozen char broiled chicken breasts that they just cut up and throw on top of the burnt potatoes; i wouldnt feed this crap to a trash can. i dont recommend any one ever going there. you will be scarred for life; its also funny how the owner gets on here thanking people for their support. there is no way he cant tell that the food sucks. 0stars!!!!!!!

  • Jon S.

Love the new brunch menu, and always love a bottomless mimosa! Great local spot that's relaxed and a good place to hang out with friends. Enjoy the regular menu as well.

Had a nice appetizer and drinks, but after a shift change, we could not get anyone back at our table. We were hoping to order dinner, but after 30 minutes decided to just leave. Probably not going back; service needs serious work.

While the food was ok, I ordered delivery and the order was not correct and the cookie we ordered was charcoal black. I tried to call during business hours and the man who answered hung up on me and then would not answer my call. I would have ordered again another time but definitely not after the rude service! Buyer beware! !!!!

We live five blocks from this bar, very convenient to pack my son up and walk on down. There food is delicious!!! And the staff is very friendly and attentive, especially one of the bartenders named Joe!! I would definitely recommend trying it out if you live in the neighborhood :):)

  • Holly W.

  • Brianna B.

  • Laura G.

    (1)
  • Dennis O.

The worst meal I ever had delivered from Grub Hub, I normally don't write negative reviews. I paid what I thought was exorbitant prices and the food was really bad, I paid extra for the three onion rings that I got and were cold. I would recommend avoiding at all times

  • Sarah S.
