Not from Denver, so I was thrown off how dry the air was. I wasn't sweating even though I was hot! Score! This is not a true country bar though. In between country songs, they play hip hop or Top 40. Nevertheless, I had a great time and didn't feel too uncomfortable as a gay man in a straight bar. (Typically I do.) Cheap drinks compared to New York. TIP: Have the cab pick you up down the block. This street is super crowded on a weekend night.

A fun place, with dancing, daytime food, and a great, mixed crowd! The busiest day is Thursday, and this is the place to be on Thursdays, as they get packed. This is the only place I've found downtown to get this busy on a Thursday, and if I'm going to go out on Thursday, things have to be poppin'! They have a mix of country music, and dance music, and Cowboy Lounge is a bit of a misnomer, as it's more of a country bar, then a cowboy bar. The staff do wear cowboy hats though, and the staff here is always attractive and friendly. This place could do better if they could attract bigger crowds on Friday and Saturday, but there's more competition, and people wind up other places. The crowd varies here more then at other bars, and is sometimes friendly, but sometimes, aloof-

Weird place. I can't tell what Cowboy Lounge is trying to be. Very little country music. People just stand around on the "dance floor" so it's nearly impossible to line dance. Oh and no one knows how to line dance so when someone who does know a dance tries, they get weird looks. Ladies night was fun, who can hate free drinks? It's a city bar trying to be something that it clearly is not. We had fun though. I won't take my friends from home here. There are better country bars in the area.

The bar itself was pretty cool. Definitely dim and dark and a laid back club-feel if that's what you're into. It was nice to hear country music again and enjoy a cocktail without the rap crap and thug life persona that you find in most dance clubs. It was cool that they taught line dancing at night and it seemed most of the crowd were there to get their step-on. If I wasn't in fear of making a dweeb out of myself I would've pranced out there but I settled for a whiskey instead. The place would be great with better service. The girl bartending didn't smile once or thank us. She literally walked to the bar where we were standing and stared at us. It was like a roving robot with the audio unplugged. Come on people!!!!! Make guests want to stay and drink. We would've spent a lot more in there but us, as many others, refuse to pay for frumpy service. Step it up and it'd be a great place.

Got messed up real good here! Love it! Can't give better details because I nearly blacked out. Had to get helped into a cab. Didn't lose it though. The staff really knows what they're doing. Or it could be I'm not used to the altitude. I don't know. But I'll go back and figure it out and update my review with better details!

This bar is huge, yet was really crowded because of post-concert folks. They have zero ventilation near the dance floor, so it gets stiflingly hot back there. I doubt they adhered to fire code that night, it was so packed. But, the DJ was good and knew how to transition the crowd. Decent drink prices too.

Normally I go to the Tavern, but decided to stop into Cowboy Lounge. And it was a great experience with decently priced drinks. And they play music from all Genre's I will be back.

ALLLLLL KINDS of amazing!! Love this place and is super welcoming! Love the folks here and bouncers are super nice compared to other bars!! Was there recently and such an amazing place!

Bar was hopping on Friday night. Pretty diverse crowd, with a mix of country hip hop and 80's music.

Horrible. Very rude female 'manager'. After we were told by door staff we could sit anywhere including 'reserved' couches as it was a night when no reservations were taken. We sat at a group of requested tables we were told we could not sit there by said female manager and after paying an $80 cover charge for 4 of us were told we would have to stand. No way we went next door to the View House NO COVER and got a table. We are here from out of town but will NOT go back to Cowboy. Stay away go to View House. Nice staff great drinks and tables.

Fun place. Awesome ladies night. Who in the right mind can resist free drinks unlimited. I am a fan even though I am not a country fan. 10pm the music switch to hip hop and top 40.

I look forward to Ladies Night here each Thursday night! The music, the people and the FREE cover and drinks are amazing!!

The last time I was here was on a random Saturday night in January so I could dance like a jackass. The atmosphere was much like a typical run-down Lodo bar with a large dance floor and a stage for a DJ or a small band. The typical crowd is your country rock folk with a few eclectic heads strolling around, and people ranging from straight up dude douche bags all the way to neckbeards and a few surprising hipsters. Somewhere in that triangular range is where I fit in, and it was surprisingly enjoyable. Within 10 minutes of entering the place I saw a blatant drug deal/pass right on the dance floor while folks were line dancing and carrying on. Fine by me. After another 20 minutes of dancing in jackass form someone spilled their entire mixed drink on my back and stumbled away. I like to think it was to cool down my hot as ice dance moves. Fortunately for me, I absorb alcohol through osmosis in a process I call "Awesomeosis". I probably won't be back, but if someone suggests coming here again, I would not protest. Yee fucking haw!

Ladies, if you like free drinks and fun country dancin, you can't beat a visit to this joint on Thursdays! Best between 9-11pm... After 11 it gets pretty wild and crowded and the music switches more towards hip hop. Tend to get a few too many guys creepin for my taste by that time, but I always have fun line dancin with my girls!

Came to cowboys lounge on a Friday night. Great atmosphere on the upstairs rooftop. Great DJ with lots of people. Drinks weren't unreasonable. We ended up staying there for hours. Great view of the city had an awesome time!

    (5)
  • Jazmine V.

Finally. A REAL ladies night. Thursdays are a legit ladies night. No cover and FREE drinks. Ladies get domestics on tap and well drinks for FREE all night long. That is freaking awesome! And unheard of where I live. The music is decent and the crowd was okay. We had fun!

    (4)
  • Joe Y.

Cowboy will always draw crowds because there is no other country music place in Lodo. Food and drinks are consistent by the Tavern Group but no rooftop unlike the Tavern next door.

I came here because a bunch of people I was with wanted to, and I did enjoy dancing with them. I strongly doubt I'll go back. The dress code is borderline racist. The drink prices were ridiculous. I could not tell why this place even had 'cowboy' in the name, since the music seemed pretty standard fare for any club (other than maybe 1 actual country song while I was there). Plenty of cowboy hats, though. There's people walking around trying to sell flowers. It's very weird. Not worth a cover to me; there's definitely more affordable, more fun locations that don't give me such a creepy vibe.

  • Janette W.

I'm generally hesitant about anything with the word 'Cowboy' in it and that apprehension also applied to this place. I was sour when our big bachelorette group each had to pay cover despite the fact we were bringing a large party in. I did appreciate that it wasn't all country music and the DJ incorporated other types of music in the mix. The drinks did seem a bit pricy though and based on my two nights in Denver, it seems there might be more affordable and fun options in the area.

  • Miriam M.

I came on here on a Thursday which just so happened to be Ladies Night! No cover charge and free well drinks and wine for all the girls so can't really complain about pricing. I love country music so I didn't mind the music but I do wish they played more upbeat country songs (the slow ones kinda killed the vibe at times). As it got later in the night they did switch to hip hop music which is pretty typical for countryish bars. So four stars for Ladies Night but overall I still give only 3 stars because I heard on other nights the there is a cover and for a place like this, I don't think there should be one when Denver has a million other places to go to. And if they are going to claim themselves as an actual country bar they should have line dancing.

    (3)
  • Magda G.

Was trying to find a place that has single men and ended up at CL. Thursday nights are ladies nights so there is no cover and we get to drink for free all night long !!! Place does not start happening until maybe 10pm with two step dancing and after 11pm when the place is super crowded the music changes to hip hop. Overall it was a cool place to hangout while visiting.

    (4)
  • Madelyne S.

We went here for a bachelorette party recently. The place was jam packed and the dance floor was very slick, covered with cheap drinks. The music selection was nice, ranging from country to top 40. I appreciated the variety. Ladies night is Thursday and that translates to free well drinks and no cover. This was a treat as I'm not a regular club-goer. Still, the vibe wasn't terrible. As expected, a couple of creepy guys kept trying to "dance up on us" from behind but for the most part the crowd was reasonably respectful.

    (3)
  • Eric R.

Expensive drinks, a cover to get in, a mix of country and hip hop on weekends. If you want a country version of the Tavern, this may be a fun place for you. If that's not your thing, skip it for something else.

    (2)
  • Becky D.

Absolutely terrible policies. Was hoping for a fun evening with a bit of country music. But the doormen would not accept my friends UK driving license as proof of age (she is 43!). Later heard this place is full of 21year olds anyway so glad we were turned away. Wish I could give it zero stars but alas no.

    (1)
  • Kiley B.

After our horrendous experience, the GM Gary was nice enough to reach out to me and offer us his sincerest apology. It's good to see that the rest of the management staff isn't on the same page as this guy was! Although I'm not sure if I can get my boyfriend to go back in to CL ever again, this was definitely a great gesture. Just watch yourselves on ladies night, folks ;)

    (3)
  • Stefanie F.

You're only allowed to go here if you're one of the following: 1. already blacked out 2. fond of cowboy hats 3. actually take country music seriously Otherwise, no. If they changed the name and didn't play country, yes. I would like it more. I will say this: the clientele are actually not bad. If this place were in my hometown it would most likely be full of the lowest of the low, the dirtiest of the dirty, the slouchiest of slouches. There's a $5 cover charge. Total bullshit. Drinks aren't cheap. Where else is there to dance in Denver that doesn't charge cover, that's not The Tavern or Rock Bar? (help?)

    (2)
  • Amanda H.

This is a fun place to go downtown if you love drunkenly singing country/hip hop all in the same night. Nothing beats "girls drink free" on Thursdays from 9-12 and other than that its slightly expensive but it makes for a great time! The dance floor is spacious so you don't have to unwillingly rub up against fraternity-cowboy-douche-wanna be's. Pretty safe bet if you're going downtown with a fake id.

    (4)
  • Emily J.

Go here if you like country music, want to dance, and don't mind the crowds. Don't go here if you hate country music, don't like to dance, and hate crowds. Cowboy Lounge is a lot of fun! There is always a rowdy, but to too crazy crowd and always someone who actually knows how to dance, or someone to teach you! Drinks are $4 for well, not bad for downtown. I love country music so I was thrilled that they stick to mostly all country all night long. I went here with a big group of guys and girls and we all had a blast. I hear Ladies' Night is great on Thursdays, so that is in my plans for this week with my girls. Cowboy is definitely not for everyone as it is a pretty "country" crowd, but it's a lot less pretentious and a lot more fun than some of the "clubs" in Denver. A tip, try not to bring a coat as the coat check is a pain in the neck at the end of the night and on the expensive side.

    (4)
  • Jeff M.

This is the first nightclub that I've ever been to that constantly mixes in Country music with top 40 (and even a little dubstep)! Now, I wouldn't consider myself to be a Country music 'fan', but I am a fan of the crowd it brings in. The venue has a big and open space for a dance floor back behind the bar. It also has a ton of TVs that are utilized for sports early in the night, they are later turned over to music videos during the peak of the night - with messages for Last Call (so there is no awkward announcement and you don't miss your chance). They also have two other bars on the sides of the venue, makes for getting a drink relatively easy and convenient. Oh and they have a beer tub near the entrance. Yeah, easy to get your beer. There is unfortunately a cover charge on most nights that ranges from $3-$5 given the time and night (girls sometimes can get in for free - actually, I think that most of the time it's free for girls). Cover is dropped between 1am and 1:30am.

I have been known to frequent Cowboy Lounge on Saturday night. It is a great place to go if you are looking for run of the mill drinks and some dancing. It is usually packed which is a good thing if your dance moves are just 2 shades shy of being "white girl status" like myself. Overall, I would say that Cowboy Lounge is worth the $5 cover that they charge, but is nothing that is blow-your-mind-worthy.

  • Katie R.

To see what all the hype was about, Anna R and I decided to get down and bring out a little "cowgirl" in us, on ladies night. man, oh, man. star 1= FREE drinks for ladies....that just happen to be overwatered and not the best tasting. lame. star 2=decent selection of music. but i've heard better. yep :) the downside to this "hip" bar: -PACKED to capacity on thursdays. -trashy/slutty girls and wanna be guido boys. -all tall people...you know me, i'm a midget. -staff, overwhelmed and understaffed. -overall...lame.

  • Sally C.

I wish I could give this place negitive stars.... Watched the bar tender spill my drink in front of me all over the place, so of course I asked for another... and he charges me... FOR 2 DRINKS.... so of course I don't tip him... but when I check my bank statement the next day the guy left him self a $6 tip! When I tried calling the manager the manager took the bartenders side... I would suggest you only bring cash to this terrible place...

Ohhhh love it!! Vancouver is greatly lacking any sort of fabulous country bar and so when I saw Cowboy Lounge when I was in Denver in September, I knew it was a place to drag everyone to. Enter Black Friday when everyone's still on a shopping high... Plenty of seating options surround a huge dance floor and the music was varied between country and top 40. This kept everyone in our party happy. Drinks weren't too pricey and bartenders were very friendly. $7 for a double Makers Mark and ginger = yes please. As the bar wasn't very busy, we were able to walk right in at 9:30 (without cover) and there were never lineups for drinks. Will definitely be back and have to say that it was lovely not to be surrounded by the 16 year olds that plague our 2-steppin hangouts.

This place is always a good time. Nothings particularly special but I've never been disappointed. The only downside is that there's frequently an outrageous line to get in.

  • Evan A.

Blah. The first thing that comes into my head about Cowboy Lounge. I use to come here all the time in college and it use to be fun. Good music, fun people, friendly bartenders. Now? The opposite. I came here on Thursday night for "ladies night" with my friends who were visiting from out of town. It was awful. The people there looked like they were on a "big night in the town". Blah. Won't come back.

I didn't spend too much time in here as we ended the night here, but it was nice and lively. The dance floor is spacious, and they do play loud music here. Some of the girls were pretty and for the short while I was there, it seemed alright.

    (3)
  • Jeff S.

Great Music and upstairs roof deck, but can get pricey! there are not really any drink specials and they charge a cover on the weekends ($10). definitely something to experience, but there are many other locations in this area of Denver where you can get a better deal and still have a good time.

    (3)
  • Mark S.

Cowboy Lounge feels like a weird spring break. They've got a mix of all types of people, a bar right in the front, and a huge dance floor packed with people going wild. If you're into all of that, than this is right up your alley. It's a good place to go when you're into getting a bit more wild, but I would shoot myself if my friends wanted to go here every weekend. The cover charge is also off-putting, because you can get that atmosphere at a ton of place in Denver.

    (3)
  • Jennifer B.

This place was a ball! $3 beers on a Friday night downtown is unheard of! The place plays a great mix of country you can dance to and top 40 dance. Some of the mixes even had the music video playing. People are friendly and fun. Free for ladies and $5 for guys!

I've only been here on Thursday's and I kind of like this place for these reasons: 1. Ladies night on Thursday's means FREE admission and drinks for those of us with lady parts 2. I like the popish country they play. I'm not a huge country music fan, but what girl who grew up in the 90s doesn't have a soft spot for Shania Twain? 3. Grrrrrrreat people watching- which is my favorite part of going out. Seeing guys in tall tees bust a move to "boot, scoot, 'n' boogie" is equally as rewarding as watching cowboys in wranglers bounce around to lil wayne 4. I feel 100% comfortable dancing my ass off here. Sometimes you just gotta break it down and get it out of your system. DOWNSIDE 1. The aforementioned free drinks are watered down cocktails and conoco-quality beer 2. The DJ tries way to hard to be a mix master. Timbaland you are not, sir. And every time he hits that air horn sound, I become filled with rage. 3. Guys are on the PROWL here, and they're definitely not the sharpest tools in the shed. They're constantly offering to buy drinks for the ladies. On ladies night. Drinks are free dumbass. All in all, a fun place to blow off steam every month or two. I'll be back, but I won't be a regular.

I can't believe I am even admitting that I have been here. I was forced to go. To sum it up, it's like Jersey Shore meets cowboy plus awful music. I can't really think of anything more dreadful. Lots of creepy dudes (and lots of seriously underage ones). Ick. To top it off, one of the creeps stole my cell phone. Sweet. I'm staying so far away I won't even drive down that block. Two stars instead of one only because they do serve booze.

I went to Cowboy Lounge for the Population Reproductive and Sexual Health section social, which is always a good time. I loved the atmosphere and wished we had had time to utilize the bowling lanes in the back. (As is turns out, my roomie from Nigeria has never been bowling. EVER.) The event was catered. I careened past the mini burgers and snatched up several slices of a bean, cheese, onion, and other-vegetables-whose-flavor-were-masked-by-my-glasses-of-Merlot quesadilla. It was delicious, especially with the large scoop of guacamole I had nabbed. Unfortunately, we ran out of time for bowling, which is probably a good thing considering my lack of dexterity.

My first visit to the CL--I liked it, but I didn't have to pay a cover, soo..... We got there early enough that they weren't charging a cover. from 8:30-10:30 on Friday nights they teach dance lessons. There were probably 20 people there. We didn't get in on the lessons but we had plenty of room to two-step and swing around on the floor. There are some "professional" dancers there doing aerials and serious spins. Watch yourself. Once 10:45 rolled around the place got super crowded with a very strange mix of downtown people. Drunk hipsters, prepsters, rednecks and a few thugs mixed in. Craziness. We walked out for $20 and 6 drinks--not a bad deal--ask what beers and mixed drinks they have on special for the night. I had $3 beers and my fiancee had $3 bourbon and cokes.

After jetting out of the ghetto Theorie, we crossed over Market to Cowboy Lounge. There was a long line and a $5 cover, and wasn't completely sold on going to CL, but this had to be better than Theorie. I have no problem with country music, as I was really into it years back (thanks to an ex-BF), and even went to a country music festival (ask me about that later). A cowboy bouncer checked our IDs, and we walked in and paid our $5 cover. Crowd was diverse and totally vibing the music. To my surprise, a Lil' Wayne song was playing upon entering, and I was so confused. Is it hip hop night? Where's the country music? Later discovered that a long set of hip hop is played, then country (Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood, Garth Brooks), and back to hip hop, etc., Passed the main bar, and the further inside we got, the hotter it got. Come on, you know you want to sing it.."It's getting hot in here, so take off all your clothes. I am getting so hot...." So, I wasn't about to take it all off, but just my jacket. I spotted the coat check, and checked it in for $2 and what else do I see? Are my eyes deceiving me? Oh HELLYA, a bucket of beers sold at the coat check!! HOLY CRAP, this is genius! CL so has their shizz together! Coat check - (check); 2 cold brewskies without waiting in a long arse main bar line--(check)! The problem with this place is ventilation. Ceiling fans are needed above the dance floor. A crowded dance floor with sweaty patrons is all good, but a lil' air would make it less suffocating. static.px.yelp.com/photo… There was some crazy country dancing going on too, and was in awe watching a couple doing their twirls, lifts, etc., Honestly, the talent at CL is ok. No scantily clad ladies and cougars here, unlike at Theorie (thank goodness)! Saw some cute fellas, but really no one to jump up and down about! All in all, the CL was a fun and interesting experience (and totally worth the $5 cover). I loved that they sold beers at the coat check! Hopefully, a SF bar/club(s) will take note to incorporate that into their place. I can honestly say that I've never been into a cowboy bar that played music other than country. If you're down to see and line dance with some cowboys and get low and crunk it out with (wanna be) hip hoppers, then this place is for you!

Real people in cowboy hats, and ladies night on Thursday. Not going to diss free drinks and hottie bartenders!

Meh. Ridiculous cover, overpriced overwatered drinks, inattentive bartenders, leering men, atrocious music. Meh.

Bring at least 3 polo shirts to pop the collars on. Only 1 and you might not score high enough on the "Tool Meter" to get in the door. After you pay your $5 cover to get in the door (on Friday's, at least), you'll be treated to overpriced beer and mediocre service. Every now and then i end up with some people who want to go here and i just go along with it. Other than that, i steer clear of this place.

    (1)
  • Heather M.

Not a bad place to go on a Th night even if you don't like country music since around 11pm, they also play other genres. Free drinks and cover for ladies on this night.

  • Lisa O.

I don't know what it is about the Cowboy Lounge but we almost always end up here. Perhaps it's the combination of the dance floor, low cover, table availability, and not outrageously expensive drinks. I'm not sure if any of us really LOVES coming here, we just always do. Tips: Come early and get a table. This makes life SO much more enjoyable. We've managed to squeeze like 6 people into one of those cramped half-moon booths. It's not fun, but it works. Go to the side bar if you want a beer. It's much less busy than the main one, but I don't think they have much of a selection. Dance your ass off. That's why you're here, isn't it?

    (3)
  • Kyle O.

Have to give one star for reasonable drink specials at time. +1 drink specials -1 for dirty dance floor with people standing around spilling drinks. That floor hasn't been properly cleaned in over a year -1 poor instructors -1 attitude of "security" guys at door (not a fun or inviting attitude) -1 most top 40 music played in a "country" bar than any other bar in town This place was night and day difference from 4 years ago.

Good place to be a girl on Thursdays! Ladies night haha. Umm but go with friends, I had to be rescued from a creepy dude by my friend Brittany and Ever. Good country/modern music to dance to though :).

    (2)
  • Maria P.

If you're looking for country music mixed with a little rap and pop, this is the place for you. And even better if you like the idea of a bar with a dance floor. It got pretty crowded after 11PM though on a Friday night. If you're not into the wall to wall people, this is not the place for you after 11PM.

    (3)

Overpriced. Annoying crowd and a cover charge in Denver?

    (2)
  • Yvonne C.

Before I complete my 100th review, I'd like to tell you all a little story. I tend to fall asleep very easily when I drink on a Friday night. I am usually exhausted from the week of work so on Friday evening, my poor little body is worn out. I have developed this *reputation* among my friends of being a narcoleptic, even though I am not. There are actually some pretty funny stories about me floating around. So...it's Friday night, I'm tired...not drunk...just tired. My friends and I make our way to the Cowboy Lounge, no one is there, and well...I fell asleep...and...got kicked out... I've actually liked this place in the past but now I'm not so sure. Why won't you let a poor girl sleep? I wasn't bothering anyone! I was quietly sleeping below the fuzzy buffalo head mounted on the wall. And, my 10 minute disco nap was apparently all I needed! I was up until 2AM after that! So, Cowboy Lounge, if you will permit me to come back in- I will promise not to fall asleep.

  • Joe C.

I recently had an occasion to meet a old friend at the Cowboy Lounge and found it less offensive that I thought it would be on a Friday night. I'm no bar/club snob and I will usually go where friends suggest even when my spidey-sense is telling me, "Why in the F would you want to go to a country music bar when you don't even listen to country music much less dance to country music, much less understand what those places are all about?" I just ignored it that night and went anyway. Drinks were decently priced, they had a nice beer selection, the bartenders were great and one of my friend's colleagues who used to work there kept filling up my beer gratis. Not too shabby. Plus the people watching is incredible. I appreciate that everyone on the dance floor was actually shaking it instead of bobbing to and fro with their drink in hand. For the single gents, there were a plethora of ladies present and they appeared to be having a rather fun time. From my few observations of LoDo on a Friday night I realized that the Cowboy Lounge is much less of a wurst-fest than other establishments in the area. You could do worse in LoDo as far as places go but this is probably a destination bar rather than a stop on your weekend evening frolic.

Cowboy Lounge!!!!!! YEE HAWWWWWWWWW! Now we're talking! As soon as we could convince my buddy to abandon all hope of meeting up with some girl at my own personal hell: Theorie, we high-tailed it across the street to the Cowboy Lounge. $5 cover? No prob, totally worth it! Drinks seemed cheap to me (thanks for totally warping my drink value, LA) and the atmosphere was ridiculous! If you're like me and just want to shake your ass on a Saturday night and have a penchant for all different kinds of music (yes, my iPod makes me look schizo at times but it's all good!) then this should be your new place. Rock, 80's, Hip Hop and country are all greeted with cheers, sing alongs and fantastic dance moves. They have a ladies night where girls drink free - I'd be all over that if I didn't live 1,000 miles away! This is a great place to just get your drink on, get your groove on, and have an amazing time. Cowboy Lounge, I will be back for you!

The music was okay, the crowd was old, and ppl were line dancing (which is totally okay) and the drinks were weak. I would have had more fun if they had a mechanical bull... but you cant have everything in life. Cover was a ridiculous $2 for guys and free for girls. And girls got free drinks... perfect. All in all pretty good place to hang out.

Amazing ladies night every Thursday night!! No cover for ladies...oh yeah and drink for FREE!! :)

Super cheesy w/great people watching. (people that do not know how to dance) Denver is not a fashion mecca so don't worry about dressing up. (hence the name Cowboy Lounge)

  • A P.

OK let's be honest, I'm giving this place 4 stars because they have free drinks for ladies on Thursday nights (and no cover!). It's free, who can complain? This draws people from all walks of life which is actually pretty damn entertaining. Great place to go out with the girls, dance, and have a good time.

So much fun, if you're into this sort of thing. This is a bar focused on their dance floor. They do the three country, three hip hop song rotation. Only downside is it tends to get packed, so dancing can get to be a little difficult, and the drinks are a little pricey. If you're a guy, stick to the large Busch Light cans if you're set on getting a buzz without breaking the bank. Great ladies night on Thursday.

DRINK DEAL TIP: Let's just call this my Western Week. Put me in some cute lil cowboy boots and call me your southern belle. Let me drive your pick up truck and turn up the country. Catch me kissin a Texan. The Cowboy Lounge is a great place to go on a Wednesday night. Well, that is, only go if you like $1 drinks and are bringing your own group of friends. You don't have to be clad in starched jeans, know how to ye-haw, or have a belt buckle the size of our head--all you have to do is be down for a good time! And, with $1 double Red Bull vodkas, I bet you will! Saturday nights are fun too, with appearances from 92.5 THE WOLF jocks, Jesse and Shotgun.

Fraud at Cowboy Lounge. I ordered one drink and the bartender told me it was $10. I could not believe the price so I asked her one more time how much it cost. My friend was right next to me and she confirmed that the bartender said $10 the second time. I paid her $15 and waited for the change. After ignored me for five minutes, I approached the bartender and asked for my change. She claimed I only gave her a single (instead of a ten) and five dollar bill, then printed me out a fake receipt showing that the drink was $6 and tried to pass it off like that was the usual rate. I'm 100% certain that I gave her $15 because why would she take $6 in the first place when the drink supposedly cost $10. I left the bar in disgust and will never be back. Watch out for this scam.

I never thought I would give a 'Cowboy' bar more than one-star, as I'm very strongly anti-hic. However, this place was actually pretty cool and plays far more than just both kinds of music, you know, Country AND Western! I was highly amused watching three generations of Ford F150-driving women do line dances, little did I know that ladies under 30 can wear Mom Jeans! Drinks are cheap and flow freely and the dance floor was jam-packed, so there's certainly far worse bars in LoDo than this particular establishment! Oh yeah, and there was an uber-drunk 'Vet' near the bathroom door that stared awkwardly at my back while I and everyone else used the bathroom... plus-one star for supporting our troops Cowboy Lounge!!

A fun place with good music, but be sure to bring your friends. I don't think I have ever seen Cowboy Lounge half-full. If nothing else, the dance floor is yours!

  • Taylor B.

Drinks are pricey, cover is lame, but the staff is nice, the crowd is crazy, and the bipolar mix of country and hip-hop grows on you.

Cowboy Lounge is truly a lounge for Cowgirls. Ladies drink for FREE on Wednesdays which will get you doing the Boot Scootin' Boogie in no time.

  • Nathan L.

This is a good place but they always charge cover for guys and that gets pretty annoying. Although it is a really fun place to try and learn some line dancing and the girls are typically pretty fun. I don't know if they are still doing it but they used to give free dance lessons at like 8pm on Fridays and I think some other nights although I've never gone.

    (4)
  • Brett M.

I wouldn't call this a true cowboy lounge. This place is lacking in authenticity. They don't always play country music when I go there and when they do it is usually the same songs everytime. The bartenders like to ignore you on thursday nights but that is understandable because there is no room in the place it is shoulder to shoulder. Dancing is ok. Not many people are line dancing or two stepping it's mostly girls dancing with eachother in there little circles. I want some true cowboy two stepping and a mechanical bull and I have yet to find it during my various visits to this location.

  • Jared L.

Not too bad of a place if you want to pay 4 bucks a beer. Thursday is ladies night so they get to drink free. You don't get the feel of a country bar though it plays hip hop more than half the time.

    (3)
  • Jose P.

It's a typical "college" bar (meaning it's a little dirty, drinks are not special, and the crowd is 21-25). The ONLY night worth going is Thursday night because ladies drink free. ANY other night of the week is sausage fest 2010. Nothing really special about the venue or the music or anything. I rate this 4 stars on Thursday and 2 stars any other night of the week.

    (4)
  • Hannah H.

Went to Cowboy Lounge the other day. Apparently at 9:30 on a Friday ladies get in free. Yess!! CL you just earned another star! Also, I just love getting tipsy and (attempting to) line dance with them cowboys. Yee haw!

    (5)
  • Craig W.

Poor management on a power trip. Very military unfriendly.

    (1)

    (4)
  • John K.

    (4)
  • Smoked L.

    (4)
  • Joshua S.

  • Eddie G.

    (4)
  • Mila G.

    (3)
  • Demitri R.

Normally I go to the Tavern, but decided to stop into Cowboy Lounge. And it was a great experience with decently priced drinks. And they play music from all Genre's I will be back.

Bar was hopping on Friday night. Pretty diverse crowd, with a mix of country hip hop and 80's music.

  • Maggie S.

  • Amanda D.

    (5)
  • Heather G.

  • kai m.

    (3)

(help?)

    (2)

  • Greg H.

This place is always a good time. Nothings particularly special but I've never been disappointed. The only downside is that there's frequently an outrageous line to get in.

Not a bad place to go on a Th night even if you don't like country music since around 11pm, they also play other genres. Free drinks and cover for ladies on this night.

  • Tonya J.

If you're looking for country music mixed with a little rap and pop, this is the place for you. And even better if you like the idea of a bar with a dance floor. It got pretty crowded after 11PM though on a Friday night. If you're not into the wall to wall people, this is not the place for you after 11PM.

Overpriced. Annoying crowd and a cover charge in Denver?

Super cheesy w/great people watching. (people that do not know how to dance) Denver is not a fashion mecca so don't worry about dressing up. (hence the name Cowboy Lounge)

OK let's be honest, I'm giving this place 4 stars because they have free drinks for ladies on Thursday nights (and no cover!). It's free, who can complain? This draws people from all walks of life which is actually pretty damn entertaining. Great place to go out with the girls, dance, and have a good time.

Not too bad of a place if you want to pay 4 bucks a beer. Thursday is ladies night so they get to drink free. You don't get the feel of a country bar though it plays hip hop more than half the time.

Went to Cowboy Lounge the other day. Apparently at 9:30 on a Friday ladies get in free. Yess!! CL you just earned another star! Also, I just love getting tipsy and (attempting to) line dance with them cowboys. Yee haw!

A fun place with good music, but be sure to bring your friends. I don't think I have ever seen Cowboy Lounge half-full. If nothing else, the dance floor is yours!
