Other than the cashier with an attitude problem, food is alright. Don't like what you're doing quit! You are in the customer service industry y@tch!!!

The staff here is composed of some of the nicest people you will ever meet! We came in for breakfast on Saturday 5/24 and had a great experience. The staff was so friendly and joking around with all the customers. The omelette I ordered was excellent. It was also very convenient because it was literally less than a block away from our hotel. Thanks for a good brunch Corner Bakery!

This place made me feel very welcome and comfortable. The staff seem very kind. One guy even joked with me when I was looking for a place to return my plate. "Are you going to wash and dry it in the back, too?" He asked. Apparently they collect your plates from the table. Food is delicious. I got the bacon and cheddar panini and hazelnut cream coffee. Nicely priced and very good. I'd be a regular if I lived here!

Yet another downtown restaurant that thinks being overpriced and trendy is the equivalent of offering solid, quality food. It's also a chain, which speaks volumes about Denver's lack of originality or diversity. While nothing here is bad, per se, it's far from great and horrifically overpriced for what you get, even by downtown standards. Once upon a time, I worked downtown and would occasionally go here, always forgetting how overwhelmingly mediocre it was the previous time. For whatever reason, while spending a weekend downtown, I decided to wander back. More than $10 for a meh panini sandwich and *small* lemonade is really shocking, especially as the sandwich came with nothing more than a bag of chips and a pickle. NOW I remember why I quit going to this place when I worked just a few blocks away. There are far better and more reasonably priced bakeries / sandwich shops in the area. For that matter, I've had better food from many of the downtown street vendors. If you're wanting to look cute and be seen by the masses while enjoying a simple but overpriced breakfast or lunch, by all means, you'll fit in beautifully at the Corner Bakery Cafe. If you're wanting solidly good food at solidly good prices, wander on, my good sir, and don't conform to anyone's expectations. You deserve better.

I almost gave a lesser score, but you know what? Their baked items are really good, you know why? Because they are a bakery. I don't understand why people go to a bakery and order lunch food. Just because they offer it doesn't mean you should order it. Get a frickin' lemon bar, okay? Go here and order dessert 'to go' and then go sit outside at skyline park and enjoy people watching with a cup o' coffee. That is the way to enjoy this establishments' best offerings.

Food quality: 4, portions and flavor was on the higher side of most cafés Beverage quality: 3, coffee was poor for a bakery/cafe, but variety was good Speed of service: 3, looked like they were going as fast as they could, but they could have used another staff member to be more operationally efficient. Cleanliness/general ambiance: 4, would have been a 5 if the layout made more sense on where to stand while waiting for your order.

Stopped in for a quick breakfast before work. Ordered the Anaheim Panini with a side of fruit. The total came to $6 and change and I could not have been more disappointed. Judging by the picture online, I received only half of the panini. It was approximately 4 inches long by 2 inches wide. The flavor was lackluster as well. I'm not surprised given that this is a chain restaurant, but I still expected something better.

Came in for lunch and got the Uptown Turkey and was not impressed. Everything seems startlingly over-priced, which is not warranted given what I got. The avacado they put on my sandwich was way over ripe, slimy and covered in dark brown spots; totally unappetizing and I couldn't even finish it. It sucks because the location is great and the inside is pleasant, cozy, and has free wifi. But, food was a no-go for me.

I enjoy coming in for breakfast and typically order one of the scramblers and sub the fruit and potato side with steel cut oatmeal instead. The place is always really clean and I enjoy the friendly staff, I always receive excellent customer service.

For downtown Denver this is a good place to eat without spending too much. I enjoyed my breakfast. Not my favorite French toast ( overly sweet ) but still good.

Occasion: Lunch. Time of Day: 12pm. On my first day of work, a few of the other newbies and I decided to get to know each other over a nice hot meal. With the brisk wind blowing outside, Corner Bakery made for the perfect soup and sandwich lunch spot! I love that they offer comb meals. More often than not, I crave soup and salads or soup and a fresh sammie, so this meal did not disappoint. I ordered the tomato basil soup with the chicken poblano fresco sammie, and mmmmm! Fresh. Delicious. Quick. Right across the street from me! I'll most def return!

Great place to get lunch! Staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is excellent. I had the veggie panini and vegetable lentil soup- Delish! Will definitely go back to this place.

Every time I come here I forget how mediocre the previous visit was. Most recently I had a bowl of chili and salad. The chili was good and the salad was huge but almost entirely filled with iceberg lettuce. There were some small pieces of to motto that were almost crushed and flavorless. Other than the small amount of chicken which was chewy and fatty, there wasn't much else in the salad. The baked goods, muffins, and pastry are pretty good but I would go somewhere else for a full meal.

Underwhelming. Very much a chain feel, yet not even as good as Panera in my mind. It over promised and under delivered. A bit expensive for what you get imo. I got a trio of salads and a cup of soup. The lentil soup was actually quite tasty, but the salads were just OK.

I love love love Corner Bakery. I've already written the Southglenn location a glowing recommendation. So, based on food taste alone, this is a fantastic place to get a sandwich or soup or in my case, breakfast. So, I tend to fnd one or two things I absolutely love on a menu and order the death out of it. Which is my current situation at Corner Bakery. The Anaheim Scrambler is so so savory and good. The sad news for me was that they ran out of potatoes the night that we went, but I didn't find out until after we had ordered and paid. I was really bummed out, but the staff there was amazing, they offered me anything else in it's place, so I opted for the mac and cheese (which by the way is now another staple menu item for me there now). Their service was great and whenever I am downtown again, I will be stopping by.

Very much an also-ran in the realm of lunch sandwich shops doubling as bakers (sort of). I did not have a bad experience here. There was a sandwich available that was an extra bacon BLT, so naturally I had to try one. All that extra bacon truly did make a difference. Very tasty. I'm sort of amazed I haven't set foot in one of these places sooner. I guess my apathy about Panera Bread sort of rubbed off onto the Corner Bakery through no fault of their own. I'd do it again for lunch. The downside to me is the price point. You pay through the nose for a drink at places like this and the overall quantity of food is smaller than what you would expect. The tables were clean, the condiment and drink areas were well stocked and obviously looked after with some care. The food runner was pleasant and prompt. The interior has a calming feel harkening back to a simpler time. I think that's the whole idea with places like this in general - comfort foods in a comfortable environment. The concept works.

Popped in here on a particularly chilly day and split the cafe sized Mac n Cheese.. It was really delicious! I figured this place was similar to panera.. Which it is.. But it rose above our expectations and we enjoyed our lunch! I'll back back for some more of that mnc

breakfast potatos are the best in town. I used to have a go to but have since changed it up. I love the COLD oatmealwith fresh chopped apples and raisins and stuff.. sound weurd but try it.. soooo good. ALL the pastries are delicious and go very well with their smooth coffee. There are many options to choose from and none are bad. I think this is the best rougala I have ever had.. great salads and pretty good service. beautiful ambiance with a professionals type crowd.

I have to say the food is good. It is a chain, but really distinguish this restaurant is the service. I showed up initially stressed and concerned the staffer who brought me food spoke to me personally. I have to say I will be back.

I have eaten at Corner Bakery many times at different locations, and I have never had bad food here. I usually go to this particular location because it is the closest one near my hotel. (The Curtis) I usually order the oatmeal in the morning which is actually quite delicious. The Mom's combo is also a great deal. Egg salad sandwich paired with Roasted Tomato basil is what I usually order. Truly satisfying.

There are a lot of comparable places on 16th Mall that offer the same goods as Corner Bakery, but variety is the spice or life, right? I like CBC as they have the largest array of sandwich choices (more than Woody Creek at least), the interior of their shop is welcoming, and the service has always been great. The sandwiches aren't anything to write home about but they are tasty and you can always depend on a quality, filling meal for around $10. I prefer The Market if I am in the mood for a really good sandwich as The Market doesn't have the corporate taste to it, but CBC isn't bad at all. Check out their catering for your next company function, easy, convenient, and tasty!

The staff is super nice! I recently started working downtown and decided to get lunch here on Monday, as I had not been feeling well and just wanted some chicken soup. I ordered a bread bowl along with the soup. A staff member came out and apologized because they had not baked the bread bowls yet and they were just put into the oven (I took a very early lunch to beat the crowd). I told him I was in no rush and would gladly wait the 10 - 15 minutes I was told it would take to bake them. I was handed two $5 coupons for my "trouble". The bread bowl and soup were delicious and well worth the wait. Fast forward to today (Friday, of the same week). I decided to take one of my $5 coupons to get a Panini and a bakery treat. By Friday, they had new registers installed and were having difficulty applying the coupon to my order. Whatever happened in the register caused my order to go through as paid and the manager said the meal was on them and not to worry about it. Even with the confusion at the register, I waited only a minute or two for my order. The Ham & Swiss Panini was made to order and tasted great. The chocolate Bundt cake was tasty as well. I will be going back here often for lunch, which is convenient for me since I work just across the street!

I was starving and needed a quick bite. Since I was staying at Westin, I decided to give this bakery cafe a go. It did remind me a lot of Panera Bread (sandwiches, soup, salad, and baked goods). I ordered a half tomato and mozzarella sandwich and soup (roasted poblano corn chowder) combo, which came with a small bag of chips. Even though the cafe was pretty busy (with several zombies), my order came out surprisingly quickly. I did inhale the sandwich (as I was really starving). It had some arugula, tomato slices, and mozzarella with some balsamic vinaigrette on a Ciabatta Ficelle, which tasted simple yet fresh and delicious. I enjoyed the sandwich dipped into the corn chowder. I think I could have stopped there, but I ended up eating the bag of chips (I guess I was *really* starving!!). It was a pretty filling lunch.

I think Corner Bakery is good for lunch, especially for a chain. The quality of ingredients could be a little higher for the price, but all told I would go there before a lot of other downtown options. The reason I am writing this review is to recommend you try their catering service for your next office event. The sandwich tray is so much better than you would usually get with comparably priced caterers. The salad is good, and the treat options are perfect. They deliver on time, they are flexible, and their customer service is great. Much appreciated when you have a million other things to do.

I decided to stop in here one night during our recent cold and snow spell to get something hot for dinner as I headed home. Not having ever been in here before, I was happy that I did. I quickly browsed the menu and immediately knew what I wanted to try. I've got three words for you....Spicy Thai Coconut! This is a new addition to the menu, well to me their entire menu is new, having never been here before. But this soup in title alone was enough to get me to try it. I was given a sample of the soup and without tasting it, the smell told me all I needed to know. It was perfect! So I ordered a bowl of it to go and was very happy with my choice! This soup is only available Wednesday - Saturday and I've been back to CBC just over the weekend and had another bowl. Good stuff! I like the overall menu here at CBC, lots of healthy items and I will definitely bea frequent patron and try other things, but I know I will have to do that on Sundays to Tuesdays because those are the only days I cant get my Spicy Thai Coconut soup. Yum!

I first discovered this gem in Atlanta over 8 years ago and every time I'm in a city that has a Corner Bakery, I have to go! I am never disappointed and could not be happier that they have not changed the recipe on the baked French Toast since I first got it. I currently live in STL and and so bummed that they don't have plans to expand there for fear of competing with St. Louis Bread Co. (Panera other places in the country). It is SO much better!

I have yet to have a bad meal here. Even if we order lunches for office meetings, the food is fresh and tasty. Went here for lunch today, just a grab and go. The line looked long, but moved quicker than I thought. Decent price for what you get. The breads that come with the salads are really good, almost like a soft pretzel.

This review is for a few of the baked goods I bought there. The chocolate chip cookie?... I'd go back there for, which is a high compliment. Nice size, not too biscuity, not too soft, the right amount of chips, the right brown sugar taste. The pecan square... I'd definitely go back there for. Better than a piece of pecan pie, way-buttery shortcake/pastry base, probably too sweet for some, but irresistible to me. Been nibbling away at it for two days for the repeated taste bud reward.

I love Corner Bakery Cafe. I just love their atmosphere :) After walk around down town in freezing weather, my family and I decided that we need to get something to warm us up. We ordered coffee, hot coco, broccoli & cheese soup, chicken tortilla soup, turkey panini and some kind of sandwich. Everything was sooo good!

My company recently had a catered breakfast provided by Corner Bakery Cafe, so this review is based on that service. The brought and impressive selection of pastries and bagels, as well as fruit bowls and fruit platters. The fruit was fresh and very well presented. The bagels and pastries were also very fresh and looked delicious (I stuck to the fruit). The people that delivered the food were very nice and helped set up everything in our meeting room. Bottom line: For the price, I was completely impressed with the service and quality of food.

I highly recommend this place, purely for the zen-like experience of tasting what nothing tastes like. The sum-total of the culinary experience here is this: additional mass is now entering your body. The mass has expanded your stomach and will briefly spend time there before moving on. Your body will keep some of this mass, most likely not needed or useful. Time to continue about your day. One item I ate here was a brownie. A cheese-cake brownie. Sounds good, right? Sounds fantastic, is more like it! Only it wasn't. It tasted like some off-brand hostess pastry I bought at 7-11, drunk and on my way to wretch it back up. Which is to say, it didn't taste like anything. How do you make a browny taste like nothing? What is the sound of one hand clapping? What does a serial killer's soul look like? And so on. I'm still new enough to Denver for the fact that 60 people from this city have rated this place and come to the conclusion that it's "above average" to worry me. I hope it's just the medical grade ganja.

  • Kel D.

I saw a sign at the entrance that said, "We're cutting back on calories, but not on flavor!" (Or something to that effect.) Based on what I had, if this is true, they are replacing "flavourful" things with salt. Lots and lots and lots of salt. I noticed this the first time I ate there and I hoped that, perhaps, if I ordered something different, it wouldn't be as bad. Sadly not - both the tomato and chicken soups are so salty that I was guzzling water with them. With soups! The soups weren't even particularly good, even if you took the salt factor into account. The service is also kind of meh. This place strikes me as a slightly more expensive, not as good version of Panera. I will not be going back.

This morning I came here with my family and I am sure this was our last visit. Tables were dirty, we saw a large cockroach and the young man who was cleaning the dining room was eating the oatmeal toppings while carrying on with his cleaning duties. It was a nightmare. I couldn't even focus on my food because I was so appalled. Nothing is worse than going to a place where I care more than the staff.

Looking for a reliable lunch spot that gives you hot sandwiches and soup to warm you up on a cool day in Denver? This is a great affordable choice that has locations all over. I was in town for business and because the Corner Bakery sandwiches are made fresh it did take a while for the six of us to get served our take-out and out the door. That's the only downside, but in a good way.

  • Agustina P.

I got a regular salad, nothing fancy, but since I'm a sucker for colorful food, I'm in love with their salads; Its colors were vibrant and it tasted really fresh. The restaurant itself is clean and quiet. The service is good and fast. Two things to watch out for: the bread they give you with your salad... It's out of this world!! And all the pastries on display next to the cashier that practically beg you to buy them as you're placing your order.

  • Kristol T.

Hands down, one of my fav places to grab a quick bite at. But you gotta go early if you are going during the lunch hour as the line gets extremely long and the seating gets very limited. The staff is okay. Definitely not top notch service. More of a get it and go in my opinion. I always get the same dish...The Club Panini on Sourdough. I switch out the chips though for a side Caesar salad which makes this light and refreshing.

We had just finished eating at the wild game sausage stand across the street (Biker Jim's), when we decided that all we needed to make this the quintessential meal was... dessert, I mean a Whoopee pie. Specifically a peanut butter cream Whoopee pie. Nothin' spells lovin' from the oven like W H O O P E E pie. You don't know you need one yet, but ya do.

  • Anne W.

I go here because it's convenient to where I work. But when there is a long line of people waiting to give their orders, and one of the cashiers is texting on her phone instead of doing her job, it really makes me wonder why the management isn't paying more attention. There are other service deficiencies that I've noted. The food is okay. Oh, and management, if you read your Yelp reviews, it's the petite woman with the braces who seems to think texting is more important than serving customers.

I was roaming the street looking for a solid breakfast place and I stumbled onto this place. It is a nice little cafe and I could have done better or worse I think. My friend, a local, knew of it but had never been there either. So I told her we would give it a try. It is breakfast burritos, bagels, some panini sandwiches. SO I opteed for the chicken Parm sandwich. It was okay but honestly nothing really any deli could have knocked out. The food seems a bit tasteless and really was noting to write home about. So we decided to share a sandwich then venture else where to continue our quest for good hangover food in Denver.

Quick joint on the 16th Street Mall to grab lunch. I have been here a couple times. I am a fan of their salads and today I had one of their panini's which was good. Decent prices and pretty quick if you are on time constraints. Also, total plus that they bring the food out to your table like waiters.

Ordered the cheapest lunch item that wasn't chili. Turkey on whole grain. It was good. Good place to people watch 16th street. Nothing notable so I'll stop there.

  • Leslie G.

I debated giving Corner Bakery three stars instead of four, but I decided to give a bonus star for the fact that they use real plates and bowls instead of disposable stuff, so they are cutting down on waste, and I love that. I got a California Grille panini with mixed greens instead of chips ($8-ish). The food was good, and it was really filling. Two hours later I still feel stuffed, so I'd say I got my money's worth. It is crazy busy here around lunchtime, but the line goes really fast and the food comes out quick too.

    (4)
  • Doug C.

It's okay, but not really a fan. It might be through repetitive advertising (there's a second store on the mall), but a search for a breakfast place ended up here. With the sun shining brightly, the inside appeared shady enough to offer a little break. Plus, the pictures of the eggs on the menu appeared appetizing. So, I had the Farmer's Scrambler here. I found it fairly generic. The eggs are the kind that you get in a pre-processed McDonalds meal and the potatoes were pretty cold. Certainly this is edible, but it really lacks a diner authenticity. I'd consider it an equivalent (although slightly nicer looking), fast food type meal.

  • Wanugee N.

Contrary to the name, this place is not all about baked goods. They have a nice selection of healthy choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I had a great healthy breakfast, the Swiss Almond Oatmeal, which was oatmeal, almond slices, apple bits, topped with fresh fruit. They also have omelets and baked goods for breakfast, including egg white only omelets for reduced cholesterol consumption. It is a casual place, with counter ordering and table-numbered service to fill your orders. There are a couple of these on the 16th street mall, this one near Lawrence.

  • Mansi A.

A great option for a quick breakfast if you're looking for something other than Starbucks, which seems like it's on every corner of the 16th Street Mall. Corner Bakery Cafe is just around the corner from the Westin - Tabor Center where I was staying, so I had the fruit and granola parfait two mornings. Probably the best parfait I've had! Super fresh fruit, unsweetened yogurt, and homey crunchy granola. Love it.

Had a mediocre experience at this corner bakery. They were not real friendly, and were sparse with their oatmeal toppings. It is a shame, for we really liked the CB in Chicago.

Decent chai latte, but their cinnamon cake pastry gave me a bit of a sugar rush and tummy ache. It was probably not necessary to eat the sugary delight AND have my chai. They have a new menu - 100 combos under 600 calories that I think I need to come back and try!

  • Darren W.

My wife and I really like this place for a chain restaurant. We usually come here when we visit Denver. This time we had a soups and sandwich combo which hit the spot for a quick bite. My wife really likes their chicken tortilla soup (you have to check on which days they serve it though). Later in the week, we came back her after a Rockies game and had the soup and salad combo. I had a spinach salad that was loaded with cranberries, oranges, feta cheese, strawberries and more. It was very light and refreshing. We tried 2 different soups, baked potato and tomato. Both were very good and complimented the salads well. For dessert we had their lemon bar and chocolate bundt cake. Both were ok. We will definitely be back our next Rockies baseball trip!

  • Jennifer P.

Ok the place looks like Panera Bread and Dunkin Donuts smashed head on and this is the result. The coffee no where close to Dunkin Donuts but hey Denver doesn't have DD. So I guess they settle. They are not GLUTEN-FREE friendly and the staff does not know the menu so I am not impressed in the least. I should have given no stars however my gf's best friend is a manager there I guess that speaks for itself. If you love cookie cutter crap and mediocrity then you found HEAVEN here.

Here on a business trip looking for a light dinner with a colleague. Had a delicious corn chowder in a bowl and was able to sit outside and enjoy the Denver weather on a wonderful evening in the city. Table service was good (and unexpected) and we had a good meal.

  • Dave E.

Yeah, it's chain restaurant and not always real exciting, but the Corner Bakery has some pretty good sandwiches that are at least semi-healthy, On my most recent visit I tried the Chicken Pesto sandwich which has real chunks of chicken breast, tomatoes, and a vinaigrette of some sort. The roll was very fresh, along with every else. Oh, and the coffee was hot too. As an added bonus I can usually find a table here (usually) even at the height of lunch hour. I also like the ''real'' silverware and the fact that the bathroom is not locked and not too scary. Plan on spending $8-$10.

  • Stephanie B.

I love Corner Bakery and look forward to when I get to grab a breakfast panini. I had a bacon cheese, the boyfriend had another panini and the parents had turkey and avocado. "Yums" all around! The only critique I think anyone had was that the chips are more deli style and hard than a nice crisp chip. I stick to the fruit personally.

I have come here a few times during school breaks. It is just..meh. I have had a tuna sandwich, soup, and ranch salad and they were all bland and boring. I have to give whoever wrote the menu credit because they sure do make it sound good. Atmosphere is neither good nor bad, same with service. I think after my last blah experience here that I will stay away.

Ordered the sliced meatball sandwich for lunch with friends. I was expecting for $10 for a drink and sandwich that I would get a good size sandwich and a fair amount of chips for my side. What came out was a little sad, the sandwich was small, it was all bread with like 3 slices of meatballs on each side. There was little flavor, although it came with a cup of marinara sauce on the side to help add some spice although not much. There were a hand full of chips and that was it. Overall I was disappointed with the portion size for the price, the fact that it was 90% bread, and it made my stomach not happy for the rest of the afternoon to say the least.

Yet another soup and sandwich spot, but this one is pretty good. They offer a wide variety of sandwiches, panninis, salads, soups, breakfast items and sweets. Since I now work downtown just a couple blocks away, I am thrilled to have another option for lunch close by. I like this place a lot better than Panera and the Spicy Pickle. It's large (so I can usually be certain to get a seat if I want to eat in), service is friendly and efficient and the prices are reasonable. It's A-ok!!

Best breakfast crossanwich I've had in Denver, period. Fast service, even if the lady behind the counter was treating her coworkers like total crap. (Note to that lady: It was only 9 a.m. How much could have possibly gone wrong already?) Good coffee, good location - the food is a lot better than the microwaved crap they sell you at Starbucks across 16th.

The food is fine but the service is not great.

I love this place. Its true that I shouldn't be having that many carbs, but their pastries are so yummy, especially their vanilla cream whoopie pies. Salads are great also like the Harvest grilled chicken salad. And sometimes I just go in to have an unsweetened iced tea, the one with the licorice flavor. I discovered this cafe when I lived in Salt Lake City and when I moved to Denver four months ago, I was ecstatic to find it here also. Yay!!

Wonderful and fast breakfast and lunch options. I love the Swedish oatmeal on cold days. The Cinnamon creme cake is spectacular. Moist and full of cinnamon crunch and butter wonderfulness. If you purchase one for your morning meeting at the office I promise you will have 100% attendance and a happy crowd!

Visited this location 4 days in a row, convenient to the Westin hotel next door. The food was great, however the morning staff needs a refresher in customer service. The morning manager I believed him to be, was the worse of all, very dry and just did not seem like he wanted to be there. For the food I will give 4 stars and for customer service I will give 1.

Wanted a quick simple lunch and stopped at this place to grab a sandwich + salad. Prices very reasonable and I was very satisfied. The bread for the sandwich was really good.

For a chain this place is amazing, I'm not going to have them cater my wedding, but for a quick meal when I am downtown and can't make up my mind it's perfect. A cross between Noodles &Co and Panera with huge portions. The worst part about it was a bit of a snitty manager, but I think that is more because of the people in front of me in line annoying him and the register breaking down mid-transaction than anything the company may inspire in its employees. Last note, they have a really great, tart, lemonade!

Nothing new to report. This is still a regular stop for us. Happy now, Yelp?

I can't remember the last time I ate actually INSIDE Corner Bakery - I usually get my order to go or my office has it delivered for catering, so I can't comment much on the ambiance. What I can comment on, however, are their delicious sandwiches and tasty cookies! The bread on the sandwiches tastes nice and fresh, and even when sandwiches are delivered they hold up well for quite sometime without getting soggy. There is nothing more gross than a soggy sandwich... and you'll never get one from Corner Bakery. My office uses Corner Bakery frequently for catering and I can't recall a time when anyone complained. There is typically enough variety for vegetarians and meat lovers alike. Enjoy!

I wouldn't actually recommend this like most people. The food is mediocre and the prices don't match expectations. You're better off going across the street.

The mom's sandwich's are great, just a simple sandwich to curb your hunger. My freinds also say the panini is great.

Everyone knows I am a big supporter of Corner Bakery. This review is not about the food--it's about the service (or lack thereof). Stopped in here on a Sunday night at 5:30pm (they close at 6pm). No one was at the counter but a guy was in the kitchen area putting plastic wrap over all the food containers. He looked right at us and made eye contact but he didn't bother to tell any of his colleagues we needed our order to be taken. After waiting for a good, solid 5 minutes, and yelling an, "Excuse me" or two, nobody emerged to take our order. So we turned on our heels and walked out. What the F?! There is such an attitude in this town among people who make $5 per hour. I just don't get it.

A tip from a coworker sent me down past Paradise Bakery to visit the Corner Bakery Cafe. It was a great tip! This location is right next to the Clocktower Cabaret and has a nice view of the busy 16th street mall. It's a great place to eat and people watch. I had the tomato mozzarella ciaba and I must say I was not disappointed in this sandwich in the least. The tomato was ripe and and mozzarella was a perfect contrast to the tomato's acidic flavor. My only real disappointment with this sandwich was the chips. Nothing special, just a bag of chips. Please give me something more here. Pasta salad, fruit, something! I really hate potato chips, they're so overdone as a sandwich side.

Corner Bakery was a pleasant surprise. It's similar to a Panera Bread type of place that offers up a range of tasty sandwiches and paninis. I ended up going with the Chicken Pomodori and was glad I did. The girlfriend and parents were equally impressed with their sandwiches which says a lot as my father is quite the picky eater. If I'm jonesing for a fresh sandwich and I see the Corner Bakery, I will be stopping by again.

I'm surprised by the relatively low ratings of this very decent downtown bakery. I've been to CB numerous times, mostly for breakfast and lunch. Their baked goods are delicious and very fresh. I've had the bacon and egg panini, various pastries and coffee and found it all to be worth another trip. Another frequent order is their club panini - perfect and consistent every time.. and HUGE. One, with a small bag of chips, is more than enough for one person. As a treat for my co-workers, I often bring back their signature cinnamon creme cake (you can't miss them - they are planted on any and all available surfaces). They are expensive, yes, but an amazing snack once every month or two. I've made numerous best friends just by offering them a small piece of this one-of-a-kind. My biggest gripe about the place is it's layout - I don't like the mass of people to the right of the registers standing around waiting for their food. I understand it's not a fast food joint, but it's just painfully awkward. With one faux leather bench that may seat up to 3 and a small assortment of yesterday's newspapers, it's an uncomfortable place to wait when it's -10 outside, 30 people are waiting for their meals and you accidentally back into someone seated at a table 3 feet behind you. The place is always packed to the gills during lunch, so that certainly says something about the food. The service and timely flow, on the other hand, could use a re-work.

Corner Bakery has incredible food! Nothing I've ever had there has disappointed me. The service is OK, not wonderful... but I didn't expect it to be incredible seeing how this is a chain & does not have wait staff (simply counter staff). Their Chicken Pesto sandwich is my favorite in the world (just thinking about it makes me hungry!), and they have great lemon bars & chocolate chip cookies, too. The prices are pretty reasonable, but some might find them a bit steep. It's totally worth it for what you get, though. Definitely one of my favorite places for a quick lunch or something to go!

Great food. Great value and our cashier on the morning of 1/3/11, a nice girl from Ohio (i think) could not have been nicer. She came to check on us and make sure we were enjoying our meal. More than you'd expect from this style of eatery.
