Amazing food. Austin (chef for our tasting menu) and Tim (our fantabulous server) made the night perfect. Each course was so wonderful - the escargot was so perfect, we had so much food and wine I'm bursting!!! The dessert chef made a special plate for our dad who doesn't like lemon. We will be back - often!!!

Undoubtely one of the best finds in my world travels. Attention to detail, honest good food elevated to Michelin Star. Great crew all round.

I am such a fan and every time I have visited the food is perfect and delicious. The Crab Cake is giant and so luscious and the best in town. Flat bread pizzas never disappoint and change with seasons. The Chicken Pate is so utterly perfect in its frenchy preparation - and a big serving to be shared. Chocolate Mousse and decadent desserts that change - so good. Solid wine list that offers something for all, good beer list and and a small list of crafted cocktails. The private event space is super flexible with a gorgeous view of sunsets over the bridge. And the dining room offers one atmosphere while the bar and patio offer others. Park here, eat and drink and walk to events at the Pepsi Center!!

Say that name out loud: Coohills. Don't you immediately feel like you should be sitting on some large old plantation in the south sipping mint juleps in the powerful heat saying, "Bless her heart" right before you start gossiping about her? Well, I do. Oddly enough, it's not a southern style restaurant. It's fancy pants. I went here for a rehearsal dinner, so take what you will away from this and know that it's not exactly your standard experience. The staff was absolutely wonderful and my wine glass was, unfortunately, never empty. The cheese and hummus plate was delish. The hummus had too much lemon in my opinion, but who cares, because there was a ton of cheese. Sadly, the crackers and bread to accompany the cheese took about 10-15 minutes to make it out after the cheese and hummus and the pickings were slim. I would have expected more carbs for dipping/cheese-holding. Whatever, I just ate the cheese with my hands. Don't judge. The steak was perfect. We waited a while for dinner to be served, but when you're cooking up 30 steaks, I guess that takes a while. But like I said. The steak was perfectly medium rare bordering on rare. They must have read my mind. All in all, I really enjoyed the food, but I didn't really feel like it's a stand out place among the many steakhouses in Denver. But I still like saying Coohills.

We got married at Coohills in February. The special memories and amazing staff keep us coming back. The food from the yummy bread and butter to the entrees to the delicious desserts are always unforgettable. Thanks to Tom, Diane, Sam, Katie, Taylor and company for always welcoming us and taking such great care! _katie and nick

Flies! There were flies everywhere in this restaurant. When we were seated there was a large one on the glassware, which the hostess quickly removed, but we spent the whole night shooing them from our food and wine. Other than the Parmesan crusted egg salad, which was amazing, the food was uninspired and overcooked. We were so disappointed we did not stay to try dessert.

Coohills is a lovely restaurant with delicious fare. The space is beautiful but the the service is average and parking can be a a bear.

Food was poor at best. Service in the dinning area was exceptional. Service in the cocktail area was total chaos. Three bartenders one barback with no set areas behind the bar. Very noisy.

I honestly had never even heard of this place until I was invited here for a work lunch, but what a nice surprise! It was a larger group of people, so they had the side of the restaurant reserved by the windows, but I thought the staff did a great job of making sure no one had any dietary needs since we had a preset menu, they served the group in a timely manner, and were attentive to the little things like empty water glasses, dropped napkins, etc. I feel like those are little things you take for granted when it's just a table for two or four, but it was nice to see that they still paid attention to detail with the big group. And the lunch - yum! We had a chicken/salmon duo plate with some asparagus and scalloped potatoes. I remember thinking that I wouldn't be impressed, but it was tasty all around! The chicken was seasoned and cooked to perfection! I enjoyed the salmon a little less, but it was still really good. Oh my, and the desserts - these were also delightful! I had a berry tart, but there were also some chocolate offerings that looked really good. One of the things I really liked about this place - while it all sounds like a lot of food (bread, salad, entree, dessert) for lunch, the portion sizes were spot on for that many courses. You really felt like you could sample each course (or eat the whole course) without feeling like you needed to be wheeled out of there!

French restaurant in downtown Denver that has five star potential but I just can't get past three stars. When I lived in Paris we always joked about how you could tell if the duck confit had been freshly made or just simply been reheated. The deciding factor was whether or not the skin was crispy (fresh!) or rubbery (reheated). So at Coohills, guess what, the duck confit had the most rubbery blubbery skin ever. That was a big disappointment especially since I could make my own better than that in my home! Yucky. I will give Coohills props for sitting our party of 14 during restaurant week together and efficiently. However, our table service was ridiculously slow serving courses and when we tried to settle the bill. We were at the table for three hours. And it was freezing: half of our party kept their winter coats on to eat dinner. Some of the other bites: the smoked salmon entrée was delicious & I was lucky that a friend gave me a bite. The snail appetizer was prepared ragout style and it was okay. I have to say I miss the garlic and butter of the traditional preparation. My dessert included in restaurant week was some sort of milk chocolate Panna Cotta with cherry sauce. It was pretty awful. Dinner and one drink set me back about $75 during restaurant week. I'm so glad I went and checked it out - it is a pretty venue with cool light fixtures, but I would not go back.

(Note: just reviewing the bar) Great cocktails, great service, cool location, excellent happy hour deals and appetizers. The location right on the Cherry Creek isn't well known but that's ok, it gives it more coolness cache. They make the best Manhattan's, barrel aged bourbon, home made cherries, and giant hand cut ice cubes. The appetizers in the bar (full menu available at bar) are tasty, healthy and visually appealing. The drinks are pricey (my only problem with them) but at happy hour a good deal. A great place for dates, pre-game (Pepsi Center nearby), or patio hangout. Also, some live music in the summer. Highly recommended.

I am not sure how this place has only three stars, well maybe I do...as I read through the reviews, the ratings seem without merit. As far as my experience, I will be recommending this restaurant to family, friends, and fellow yelpers. Yes, this is a higher end restaurant and the prices reflect that, so many would only go here for special occasions. If you are looking for a memorable evening with flawless service, perfectly executed food, and a chic yet warm atmosphere, Coohills is the place. We went with the chef tasting menu so that we could try as many items as possible. As far as the portion sizes go for the tasting menu, it was spot on. The service was also immpecable. Everything was timed absolutely perfectly: the busser would have the table preset without delay, wine pairing would arrive precisely on time with each course, and plates were cleared promptly. The server was friendly and available, but not too present, allowing us to enjoy each other's company. The timing of each course was also impressive; just enough time in between each course to sit and enjoy, but not too much time passed where we wondered when our next plate would be there. Again, impressive. The food runner also gave superb descriptions of each dish as courses were dropped. Best service I have experienced in all of Denver, reminding of my experiences at Michael Mina. Here is a breakdown of the courses we tried: Amuse - Escargot with gnocchi: the first, but easily my favorite dish of the night, and this was my first time trying snails. Snails were perfect on their own, but paired brilliantly with the soft yet crispy gnocchi and delicate crunch of the peas shoots. Watermelon with Serrano ham & burrata: my husband's favorite dish of the evening. Simple yet elegant flavors with the saltyness of the ham and the juicy sweetness of the watermelon paired with the creaminess of the burrata. Beautifully plated. Foie Torchon with brioche and apricot emulsion: foie is a "once every few years" treat for me and this dish was gorgeous. Plate came dressed with delicate slices of apricot, halved grapes, and sliced strawberries to go along with the delicious brioche and apricot emulsion. My favorite pairing on the dish was the fresh strawberries, but the apricot was the perfect emulsion pairing for the foie. American red snapper with sausage, romesco and vegetables: I was craving fish and this hit the spot. The fish was cooked beautifully. It seems to have been very lightly floured which gave the outside a slight crisp. It was fantastic. The pairing with the sausage and the spicy romesco sauce was excellent and the vegetables (diced eggplant, etc.) gave it a great balance. Intermezzo - sorbet, lime I believe. Only negative thing to say was the sorbet was a little icy (crunchy) Lamb Sous Vide: I don't usually eat lamb for two reasons, one being that I don't enjoy the gamey flavor. Well, let me tell you, this dish will convert anyone to a lamb lover. But you may be spoiled and will only eat it sous vide the rest of your life. Wow, was this dish amazing. Texture was that of a rare plus steak and the flavor was rich but certainly not gamey. It was served with the most delicious homemade mint yogurt and saffron cous cous. To die for. Dry rubbed strip steak: having worked at a 5-star steakhouse in Las Vegas, I am somewhat of a steak snob, but I was impressed with this steak. The dry rub was excellent and the steak was cooked perfectly to a medium rare. Aside from a little gristle, I thoroughly enjoyed the dish. It was served atop a delicate creamed spinach and some chanterelle mushrooms. Dessert - layered chocolate, praline, and hazelnut mousse served also with a coffee sorbet. I am not huge on chocolate desserts but I enjoyed this. Mousse was not too thick nor too sweet. The coffee sorbet was unique and delicious. A great finish to the meal.

The first time we came was for restaurant week when it first opened. Cool atmosphere, but the food was not good. It was really bad. Fast forward a few years to last month. Decided to give it another shot due to location - we were going to a concert at the Pepsi Center. Service was SLOW. Finally ordered- then the server came back 20 min later to say they were out of the squash gratin that I ordered but offered to cut up some squash and sprinkle cheese on it instead. Ummm, not exactly the same thing. My friends placed their orders while I perused the menu again. The server came back ten minutes later to say they were out of the ratatouille my friend ordered. She's gluten free and has many allergies so she just ordered fries instead. I decide to just order the potatoes. The server asked if we were ok on drinks. I joked that we were fine unless he was going to tell me they ran out of vodka. Guess what? They ran out of vodka. Keep in mind, this is happy hour, not the end of the night. My friends get their food, but still no potatoes for me. Every time the server comes back we remind about the potatoes, and he says they are on their way. My friends finish their food, and still no potatoes. I'll leave out the details on the other little mess ups along the way and skip to the end. At this point, with the other things I'm not even detailing, we are laughing because we think for sure we are on a hidden camera show. Then finally the manager walks out with. . . Ratatouille. Which I hate. We explain that I ordered potatoes. My friend ordered the ratatouille but was told it was out so just ordered fries instead, which she already ate. The manager apologized and said. . .they were out of potatoes. They reduced the bill and gave $30 in gift cards for next time. Sorry Coohills. No next time. I can't rate the food because although I spent two hours there and ordered twice, I was never actually served any food.

I have been here three times in the past two weeks - two private gatherings and once for Beats on the Creek for an Allman Brothers cover band. I love the atmosphere. It is a beautiful setting and they take advantage of the location nicely. Service is very friendly. Service for food is well paced, drinks/bar service a bit slow. I have had a steak all three times and was very pleased each time. Tender and tasty. In observing the fish portions, they appear small, but everyone assures me delicious.

Took a small group here to have kind of a networking dinner with people from the non-profit sector. It was amazing! My partner and I had the chicken, yum. We got the scalloped potatoes, incredible. I was too full at the end to try the chocolate dessert cake but I'm going back for that. This was my 2nd time here and I'm really glad we went in. Book the private room if you have a group, that was really worth it.

Don't waste your time! Bartender was extremely unprofessional, they couldn't make 2 drinks on their 8 drink menu because of not having the proper liquor (sake and tequila). The truffle fries were limp, cold, and flavorless. The sliders were stale bread with hockey pucks in the middle, and our cocktail server was a little snippy brat! Will never go back and recommend the same to all my friends

Wow just wow! Coohills last night was probably the best dining experience we've ever had. We sat at the Chef's Counter and ordered the 5-course tasting menu. Chef Coohill checked on us several times during our 2 hour 45 minute meal, making sure we were well taken care of and personally explaining every single course. We have eaten at Eleven Madison, Sushi Nakazawa, and Noma (all of which are great), but never have we interfaced with such a nice chef until Coohills. Overall, every member of the staff was nice and down to earth. We also had the pleasure of meeting Diane Coohill. We started with two amuse-buche: shrimp ravioli and one crab cake (Chef pointed out that he did not use breading). We proceeded with large scallops, seared foie gras, a salty egg dish, and veal with lobster. The dessert was the praline hazelnut mousse with coffee sorbet. Every dish was amazing! You will be remiss if you live in or are visiting Denver without coming here!

I brought a large group to Coohills for a business dinner with presentations. Diane and Shayla were absolutely wonderful to work with and helped the event go off without a hitch. The ambience is beautiful, classy and welcoming and the food is delicious! Our group had excellent service and I would love to go back again.

My first impression of Coohills was a great one. I was attending a work event in the private room. The service was impeccable and all courses were more than enjoyable. Prior to dinner we had various cheeses and bread with a hint of orange juice (just try it), also their amazing salted butter. I am not usually a bread person, but this was impossible to pass up. Yum! My steak was good, though not cooked to order because I was in a large group which preordered. Someone else at my table had the sea bass and raved about it. For dessert I had both a fruit filled tart and a chocolate cake bite. Both were fantastic. I can't wait to go back and try this spot as a date experience. Coohills is only a block from Larimer Square, so there is plenty to do in walking distance. The garage was $20 for a few hours, so if you park there.... Get your money's worth. They may validate... I didn't ask. There is also a stream and bridge outside the front doors and it is a beautiful atmosphere to walk around in before or after dinner. I look forward to visit #2.

This past week I hosted two events in the private dining room and ate dinner there last night. I could not of asked for more!!!! From planing the event with Diane and Shayla, to the over top delicious food, and outstanding service everything was top notch!!! I highly recommend Coohills to everyone looking for an impressive event location to a great evening out!!! Thanks a million Coohills!!! I will certainly be back!!!!

HAPPY HOUR: I've only been here for HH a few times--not for dinner, so I can't comment on the full menu. The cocktails I've tasted have all been excellent but I was totally unimpressed with the one small plate I tried. We had planned to order several, just not all at once, but after tasting the first decided to change plans and wait until dinner. The fromage blanc (served with carrots, broccolini, and radishes) is incredibly bland--granted, I know it's a very low-fat, if not fat-free, cheese, but still, it usually tastes like something. Also, the veggies it was served with were quite "rustic." I like rustic, don't get me wrong, but I don't love dusting dirt off my carrots. However, the broccolini, which was cooked a bit, was pretty tasty. I want to come back and try dinner (and eventually, I will), but I'm pretty hesitant re: the food so I keep finding other locations to go to, instead. I know, I need to suck it up--it's just one meal, right? Plus, I only had one dish that I wasn't fond of...that doesn't mean I won't like the rest of the menu! Anyway, until I work up the desire to go back to Coohills for dinner, I'll continue to go and enjoy their wonderful cocktails when I already have a full tummy or am just looking for an after-work pit stop.

Had a wonderful dinner. Staff was great. Cool vibe. I rarely find anything to be 4 stars, but I was surprised by this place. Cocktails, dinner and dessert came to about $205 w/tip. (for 2 people) It is kind of a bummer that I have to spend that much to get a really good meal in Denver

My fiancé and I stopped in last week for happy hour and we absolutely loved it! Great cocktails, delicious bar eats (the poutine is out of this world), and awesome staff. The bartender, Collin, could not have been nicer. We'll be sure to visit again for the complete dinner menu, I'm sure it's nothing short of amazing.

Really sad to recommend you do not go here, no matter what. We had a group of 10. They called and emailed me 4 times to make sure we were coming, and now I realize why. You really wouldn't come here unless someone coaxed you. The service was not spotty - it was nonexistent. We eventually gave up and quit ordering anything. The patio is a lovely spot, but really it is not worth the loooooong wait for a glass of wine or food.

We made a reservation here on our most recent trip to Denver. I had seen pretty good reviews online and a blurb on their website that they could offer vegan menu items if requested. (That always gets a gold star in my book!) When they called to confirm our reservation that afternoon, they asked if I still required a vegan meal. When I said yes, the man informed me that the server could help me "figure something out" when we got there. I wasn't sure what that meant and was a little concerned I'd be limited to a salad and soup - the standard vegan menu options. Luckily, the server not only pointed out menu items that could be prepared vegan for me but also said she'd be happy to ask the chef if he could come up with something off-menu if I was interested. Since I didn't particularly love the items on the menu, I asked if she would speak to the chef. She came back and stated that he'd be happy to whip something up and asked for a list of ingredients I liked or maybe didn't like so much. First came the complimentary pre-appetizer, an apricot with golden raisins over kale and a sauce I couldn't quite identify - squash puree maybe? It was served warm and surprised me with how fresh and flavorful it was. Next was the appetizer of glazed Brussels sprouts and pickled onions over a simple hummus. Very simple but nicely done. Then came the main course, which I was excited about but also slightly nervous for. I didn't give much direction in what I wanted and wasn't sure what the chef would create. I was grateful he was willing to accommodate me but you never know how that will turn out! (Sometimes restaurants say they are happy to make a vegan meal but it turns out they just plop several side dishes on one plate in little piles. They rarely complement each other and often taste a little stale, like they are cleaning out the refrigerator...) Anyway, my meal was superb. I was served braised tofu and cauliflower over wild rice with a delightful Harissa sauce. I practically licked the plate clean. My husband ordered a steak and after trying mine was disappointed that my meal was the "winner"! If you are visiting Denver or are lucky enough to live there, give Coohills a try! Inviting atmosphere, great service and if you are lucky, the chef might just create a phenomenal meal for you too!

Coohills provided me with one of my most superb happy hour experiences. My girlfriend and I were there to use her Denver passport again for 2 for 1 cocktails. For food, we ordered the Waygu sliders and whipped chevre. I also ordered a General Sherman's Old Fashion. I really enjoyed the Waygu sliders and the slightly caramelized outer pieces. The whipped chevre with cherry tomato was also so filling. And my cocktail! Well, it was voluminous and trumped previous Old Fashions. Was it the Rittenhouse or Dry Curacao or all those factors? Regardless, it was a superb cocktail and a filling happy hour.

We had a really nice, quiet, Thursday dinner here. There was a party in the main room so we sat in the bar area, which was fine with us. The staff was friendly and attentive. The GM Aaron was there and made sure we were well taken care of and showed us some great wine pairings. Speaking of, loved the wine selection - had a great dry riesling. Foie with spicy chocolate sauce? Better than it sounds (or maybe that does sound good?). The scallops were also done well but there wasn't quite enough on the plate. The real star of the night was the duck breast. Moist and the sauce was killer... so good the bowl didn't have a drop in it by the time we were done. Fat kid style. We'll be back...

I've been meaning to write a review of Coohills for a long time because the food we were served and the service we received was outstanding! I first ate dinner there a number of months ago with a group of five and we all love the food we ordered. Plus, the drinks were outstanding (well, I thought the Huckelberry Lemonade concoction they served was way too sweet and fake tasting, but the other ones (we tried all of the ones on their drink menu) were so good). The service that night was also spot on. We then decided to have our rehearsal dinner there and it was such a great decision. Service for thirty was well done. The had three servers for us in their private room and then the manager would come in occasionally to make sure everything was going well. The servers were always there when you needed them, but not hanging around awkwardly--they were clearly an experienced waitstaff. The food was great and the flow of the evening was exactly how we had discussed it would be. Unfortunately I don't live in Denver so I can't frequent the place nearly as much as I would like. I do know that we're headed back to Denver in a few weeks for our anniversary and we'll absolutely be dining at Coohills. I cannot wait to sip on their Barrel Aged Manhattan, which by the way I think is one of the best in the greater southwest.

Best business event ever. period. Fantastic food, service and space for our group of 12. We have done the usual Denver places (Cap Grill, Cho Lon, Mizuna, etc.) but Coohills set a new bar. Service: exceptional, start to finish. Very attentive and accommodating; always available Food: abundant, delicious, interesting Space: gorgeous, quiet, warm, roomy private room Table stakes: easy parking Special touch: Attentive Diane Coohill introduces herself...later introduces Chef Tom Coohill... all in all, highly recommend.

short review here. went in by myself and had a couple ninkasi ipas and the lamb. the lamb was perfectly cooked (rare, as i like it, so if you don't, you might want to avoid) and delish, as were the sides/sauces. they could have a better selection of local beers (why should i have to buy a eugene oregon beer in denver?). the staff are as friendly, attentive and helpful as can be and the manager, also friendly, is super hot. sorry... :-) good place, check it out.

This was not my first visit to Coohill's. I used to work in the building and have been there for HH and even a time or two for dinner. But my most recent visit was very disappointing. There were three of us in all. We were on our way to the Pepsi Center for the final season lacrosse match and decided to get dinner before the 7pm game. Our reservation was at 5:30 and I got there a little earlier than that. The host was very nice to seat me while I waited for my friends. Our server, Sean, came to the table, poured water for all three seats and then said he's be back to explain the specials, etc. when my friends got there. My two friends arrived just minutes later and we discussed the menu, including their interest in seeing if there was a larger wine selection (as they are wine fanatics). Sadly by 5:45, our server had not made a single appearance at our table. Not to take a drink order, give us any indication of their specials for us to contemplate, nor the slightest of acknowledgement that we were even sitting there. Nothing! And in our little corner of the restaurant where he was active, there were THREE tables occupied and not including our three, held about 6 people. So, he wasn't exactly swamped. I was a server for nearly 10 years at one point in my life and we had a concept called "touching your tables". It's a concept that evidently has been missed on this gentleman. For a restaurant with a "white tablecloth" image, I'd expect a little more "white tablecloth" service. We finally just got up and left. After sitting there for 15 minutes with no contact at all, we could only assume that getting our order taken and served within the hour we had left was not a reality. My suggestion is that if you really want Coohill's and you have an evening event to attend, it's best you get there by lunch time to make sure you can make it. Otherwise, request a server that is more experienced in time and table management.

Coohills is a lovely restaurant on the banks of Cherry Creek in lower downtown. The food is good, the service is also good. On Tuesdays in the summer they have live bands on the adjoining bridge over Cherry Creek. This is a review of the two most recent band night experiences. Inviting friends to dinner, getting them a drink and then blasting your sound system as aloud as possible is a sure way to: 1) Make sure they only stay for a little while. 2) Talk about your thoughtlessness and rudeness. 3) Are busy on all future invites back. What has been a nice evening concert series with people mingling, drinking, conversing and sometimes dancing has turned into the place to get hoarse and to avoid Last week I enjoyed the Eagles cover band; a few minutes at Coohills and the rest of the evening at Marg's, blocks away. Last night, a very competent blue grass band played. Sadly, it seems that they thought they were playing Pepsi Center and not a small venue. Note to band: When virtually no one is standing within 30 feet of the stage and even that far back people are sparse, you might need an adjustment. Instead, directions are given to the sound dude with the iPad to increase the lead guitar volume, it seems the band couldn't hear it well...mangled eardrums perhaps. Despite the servers confirming that many people had complained that the band was too loud, nothing was done. Instead, the peurile testosterone driven dick swinging contest was allowed to continue earsplitting along. The Coohills and their management staff was asleep-at-the-wheel--far, far, far away me thinks. I could have enjoyed this band, in particular the mandolin player showed talented, but the experience was a definite driven away moment, perhaps to someplace quieter like Cassleman's headbanger mosh pit.

Recently went to a private party at Coohills for which the entire resto was rented. Sadly, nothing having to do with food went well. The tiny bruschetta bites were soggy. The salad was a plate of wilted iceberg with some shaved carrots. And then we waited...and waited...and waited...nearly 3 hours for the main course to arrive. We sat with a view of the kitchen, and it didn't seem to be for lack of effort--it looked frenetic and frenzied in there. When the main course finally did arrive, we were starving, so it should have tasted amazing, but alas...no. Proverbial rubber chicken, chewy ribeye, passable (but unraveworthy) salmon. Their pastry chef redeemed his/herself with a succulent bread pudding. We left, maybe 30 minutes after dinner was finally served, wrung out and unsatisfied. Gathering our coats, at the coat check in the corridor near the kitchen, we were nearly run over (literally) by 4 members of the kitchen staff, in a b-line stampede for the exit! We stood there, backs against the wall, shocked--did that just really happen? The good news is that the location, layout, decor are are all fabulous--at least they can change the food.

Our server was terrific. Can't remember her name. But, she asked if we were there to go to Elton John and we didn't know anything about it. We walked over there afterwards and got tix. The food and wine were very good too. The crab cakes were yummy just like Others said and steak was cooked and spiced just right. Also, the wine the server suggested was very good - Simi Landslide. Thanks for the nice evening for our occasional date night.

We came here for Valentines's Day last night, and it was great! First time here, and although it was busy and the menu was prix-fixe, the service was excellent---Johanna was great and the food was awesome! Kyle the sommelier was fabulous too. We will be back!

The look of the restaurant itself is very classic. The staff was very friendly. The service very fast. All of the dishes we tried had amazing flavor. The Pate was a little strange...but I'm fairly certain I'm just not a fan of Pate. The steak was delicious! Crab cake was also very good. I expected the restaurant to be expensive, but for the portion sizes it seemed a little extravagant. I probably would not return but only because of the price and the atmosphere. Its a bit of an older crowd.

LOVE the ambiance and definitely has the potential to be great pre-Pepsi Center event hang out - right across the street an easy 5 min walk. HUGE downside...the service is lacking, impersonal bartenders that have no idea what hospitality and customer service is about. A little eye contact, asking if all is good and genuine interaction goes a long way.

It's expensive, but not worth it. The gnocchi's like bubble gum, the cocktails are small, and the service doesn't know you're there. It's a lot like a hotel bar - shiny clean, ESPN, okay food, bad service. No soul. Nothing special.

I was looking forward to Coohills as one of the restaurants I went to during Denver Restaurant week, based on the rave reviews I had received from some friends. I was pretty disappointed. My dining companions both loved their food so 3 stars-they would rate it a 4 but I rated it a 2. We each got one of the 3 appetizers offered and we were all pretty happy. I guess the snails were great but I didn't try them. The main course is where the big difference in opinion came between me and my dining companions. I got the braised beef short rib, as did one of my friends and our other friend got the salmon. I had a small bite of the salmon and it was good. I personally did not care for the short rib. The flavor wasn't there and on top of the pomme puree was too much mush for me. My friend that also got the short rib loved it-so... Dessert was a bread pudding. Not really a fan of bread pudding but again such rave reviews I thought something was going to wow me. Nope. Not good-not bad, just nothing exciting. Service was fine but not exceptional-none of us were offered another drink or coffee with dessert but the waiter was personable and helpful. Considering the price of the normal menu and the underwhelming experience I had during restaurant week, I wouldn't come back for dinner. The happy hour looks encouraging-I may give that a try. If you have a super finicky eater, like me, maybe try another place first. ;-)

We have been wanting to try this place for a bit, but since it is tucked away, we would always forget about it. Last weekend we went on a Saturday night for some drinks at around 10 pm. The place was mostly deserted, nobody left on the tables and 2 small groups at the bar. The staff took its time to share with us a menu but they were very friendly. We ordered a beer and a cucumber vodka cocktail which I asked to have without any sugar. The drink was a bit tart but not sweet which was key and the beer selection was ok. The ambiance without people was lacking and the lighting was too light making the place look even emptier. I will give them another try but maybe earlier

A bit out of my normal circles, but when I'm there I enjoy it. The bar has a good and interesting beer selection. The menu while mostly things I don't recognize, is tasty.

Skip it. We won't be back We went because of the location on the Cherry Creek Bike Path. Beautiful, that was excellent. We asked for a combination of the cheese plate and the pate plate. The waiter said "I doubt we can do that but I will ask" No was the answer. I asked for the manager, he acted like we were turds that had floated in from Cherry Creek. "No, absolutely not": he said. WTF pal, what happened to customer service? Managers are supposed to say, "absolutely, we can do that". The place was 1/12th full on a Saturday night. 5280 Magazine gave it 2 out of 5 stars. 'Nuff said. SKIP IT P.S. I can't stand places that only have 5 items on the entree menu. Drinks were good though

I have to admit that I was very disappointed with our dinner for our special occasion. Between the mediocre service and the mediocre food it was not a great evening. Our waiter was not knowledgeable about the wine I inquired about, and the cook that came to our table to discuss the 5 course meal didn't know why he was at the table, after our server told us he would come talk to us about what our preferences were for the meal. Our reservation was at 7pm and we didn't receive any food until after 8:15pm and then we didn't get our wine pairing that we ordered. I told the chef about two allergies and then 2 courses came out with one of the allergens. The bread we received was so burnt on the bottom that we had to pick it off - at that point we were so hungry we didn't complain - we were really hoping it would get better. The bison was inedible to me - it was tough, cold and flavorless. Our dessert order was mixed up and the bread pudding was some of the worst I have had - the grease was oozing out of it, and after 3.5 hours we were finally able to go home . I hope that this was just an off night for them - when the manager asked if the food was "delicious" - I told him it was OK, so he smiled and walked away. He obviously didn't want to hear my opinions. Sorry to say we won't return - the space is beautiful, but that isn't enough to have us return.

Disclaimer: dinner was free as a vendor outing. But i found the wait staff to be friendly and helpful both in the bar and at the table. My water glass was always full, my wine glass never sat empty long either It was a fixed dinner except for choice of entree. The appetizers were pretty good - the asparagus was meh, not much flavor, but the duck and Brussels sprouts - wow - burssel sprouts were delicious! I picked the prawn dish with the grits. The shrimp first off came with their heads.. i'm kind of a princess i don't want to look into their eyes before i eat them... but all in all i was able to remove them with little fuss, but they were bland. sigh. Grits tho - mmmm! I tried hubby's steak and it was pretty good. More raw than he was really interested in - kinda funny how many different ways at 1 table "medium" can be interpreted... good for me, bad for hubby! side dishes were fabulous - we had the mushroom, sweet potatoes (OMG), scalloped potatoes and the ratatoi - everything was fab - skip the ratatoi next time! desert was a big old mess of sweets! I tried the molten brownie - just so so, the macaroon was ok, the cookie in the bread pudding was delicious! All in all i probably would have rather had another serving of the sweet potato over desert! But the staff did an amazing job getting 13 people to an aerosmith concert - almost on time. I wasn't watching the clock, but we did end up over at the pepsi center 1/2 way thru the opening act, not terrible! Good location close to Pepsi center, but not in the middle of the mess over there - so now that i know it exists, i'll be back! (go mammoth!)

So so. This place is classy and pricey but not memorable. The experience from start to finish lacks personality. The bar appeared to be a more desirable ambiance (warm, cozy, lively) compared to where we dined - in the dining room. Service is pretty flat, menu reads well and the food tastes good but the lack of passion and energy for it from the staff makes it fall short. The wine/beer list is delivered on an iPad, which is hip -- but it comes with no guidance from the staff and is kind of confusing to navigate. The bread and butter with truffle salt is awesome! I liked my "American Mule" cocktail and the beet salad.

My review for Coohill's is based only on the bar menu and some starters. We did not get the dinners as we weren't too hungry. I only preface my review with this because I've been to restaurants that excel with apps and starters then falter with main dishes. I don't know why this happens but I do find that it happens more often than expected. So my friend and I sat on the patio on a lovely early spring evening. We started with the mussels, a vegetable verrine, pizza and a bottle of wine. All exceeded my expectations in taste and presentation. The dishes we ordered were all a bit pancetta heavy (all of our dishes had either pancetta or bacon except the verrine) and do wonder how they would fare with the use of pork products. They bake their own breads which comes out hot and a side of butter sprinkled with truffle salt. A very nice touch. The service was ok. Our server was attentive but she didn't know what a verrine was. Neither did I so I asked and was told that it was a crostini. When the food came out we had no idea what the cup was but ate it and figured it was the "crostini". It was a cup and sort of awkward to share but it was delicious. I also wished they carried a few more entry level bottles of wine. Other than that the food is terrific and look forward to returning soon.

4 Stars. Really good food --- cool patio in a great location downtown, too. I'd be more descriptive, but I had too much wine during an Alumni Board meeting. I remember great rare tuna, bread, and salad -- and the service was impeccable... Overall, just go. I'd love to visit again.

After having had an amazing lunch here, I expected dinner to be amazing. It wasn't. Some of it was okay, but just barely, some of it was okay, and some of it was good. The only thing that was amazing was a dessert that was a special. I'm sorry to say it, but I now wouldn't go back. It wasn't bad; it just wasn't up to the competition for that many dining dollars. And, they desperately need to sharpen their steak knives.

I have been to Coohills for a few different occasions, a couple of happy hours etc. But this year, I visited Coohills for 5280 and finally enjoyed dinner at the restaurant. The food was amazing and the staff was fabulous! They also have an extensive wine list and great cocktail menu. When it came time to plan my 30th birthday, I had explored several venue options and Coohills was by far the most enjoyable to work with. They offered several options for my reserved space, including a private dining space and a reserved section in the bar. I ordered a variety of delicious desserts for my guests and they were presented in such a beautiful way not to mention, they tasted great! I am still dreaming of the pistachio macaroons!! The staff were so accommodating and attentive. Molly was our primary server and she was so sweet and made sure I had a great evening! Thank you Diane, Molly, and everyone at Coohills who made my birthday one for the record books! I highly recommend Coohills for events, a romantic date night, happy hour, or drinks on the patio!! They have Jazz in the summers on their patio, so definitely check the website for that.

So many different star ratings for this restaurant. Too bad. Too bad because new restaurants don't always have to suffer through a rough start-up process. (See Charcoal for a new restaurant that had it together from the moment it opened). I can only tell you about our experience, and it was a good one. We live in the neighborhood. So we walked over. That meant we didn't have a parking problem (although I hear there's an attached garage that only charges $5, and that's a good deal since even if there was a free valet service, you'd tip the guy about that much). There were 8 of us. The service and the food were all excellent. Probably the best deal of the night--it being Sunday--was the wine. All bottles under a $100 were 1/2 price. Had a wonderful '09 pinot noir called Emeritus, from the Russian River Valley. At $32 it was a steal. As mentioned by others, the sourdough bread is delicious. We had the blue crab flan, mussels and octopus as appetizers; then the escarole and parmesan crusted egg, as well as the bosc pear salads, which were really very good; and the diver scallops, pork ribeye and lamb entrees. Every dish was well executed and very enjoyable. They have a couple of stellar desserts: the vanilla bean bread pudding was spectacular, as was the veloute of bittersweet chocolate. Excellent, but not spectacular, was the bosc pear tart. The hazelnut cake was good, but nothing to write Yelp about. Total cost of the meal: $75 a person, including the tip which, because of the size of our party, they added in. Pricey, but we had a large and tricked out dinner. The atmosphere is cosmopolitan and upscale. Liked it. Will go back. Hope they smooth out the rough edges for everyone else, but we sure had a solid 4 star experience.

Elegant dining room. Superb service. Supreme food. The dining room was tasteful and allowed for the tables to not be crowded together. The delicious fresh baked twisted bread was served with a mild truffle butter and had a chewy crust and tender hot inside. My first course of onion soup allowed for the main ingredients to shine. The light, soft gnocchi was excellently paired with an assortment of roasted vegetables. I loved it. The bread pudding was hot, slightly gooey and somehow rich and light at the same time. My husbands courses were also really good. Additionally I appreciated the restaurant's appropriate portions. Our server had great timing and checked in with each course. Truly contemporary French fine dining.

All starters, sides, entrees and dessert were good. Few were great. I really enjoyed my pork chop and the lamb looked great. The ladies' halibut was overcooked. The cheese board was light on the cheese, but they were all good tasting for the small bites we did have. Carrot side was excellent, brussel sprouts were good, potatoes were okay. Service lacked quite a bit. No explanation (or offer) of the dishes, no check in, we had to request more bread vs offered. Also, I don't like ipad wine menu's. The bathroom had paper towels all over the floor that had seemed to be there for a while. I always question a restaurant that doesn't keep a clean restroom. I would go back, but if at that price point there are a number of better options downtown.

This review is for happy hour only** As for happy hour goes, because I wouldn't come here otherwise, I was unimpressed. Let's break it down. Drinks: They have a good drink list for happy hour that is until 6pm. Beer, list of liquors to mix for $5, house red or white, and a few of their specialty cocktails. Food: seemed like a good list of charcuterie and sharing plates. However, felt to me pricey still for what you get. Example, we got to hummus with Vegs. Our cauliflower was slightly blanched and then the tips were burnt. The broccolini were awkward to eat in a social setting. However, I will say it is good food sharing if you are planning a special group gathering there are other items to get that works. On that note, the Space: I was in the bar only. Do not plan on have a big group meet unless you make a special event out of it. If you reserve the space it'd nice, otherwise the tables and booths fit comfortably at max four guests. The crowd was made of mid professionals. I'm just going to say, the place is great if you enjoy this type of atmosphere and crowd. It's not a bad place at all just not for me.

I have been hearing a lot of this place lately as if it just opened. However to my surprise it has been hear for over a year. It is true fine dinning and it textbook of what you can imagine a new ultra modern high class establishment. The service was over the top exceptional, our server Leslie was amazing and the manager who was filling in for the night was very attentive running food and initiating pleasant conversations, when checking in on us. I will have to admit, sadly we were the only table in there, yet I am sure the duo would have given just as wonderful of experience if it was a packed house. Though this is not an inexpensive night out it sure is top notch service and the cocktails are by far better than any I have had in the Lodo/Larimer square area.

This restaurant was a real disappointment. A dear friend who knows the owners chose it for lunch one day. We went, and found out it was no longer open for lunch. Oh well. I needed to take my partner out to a nice restaurant for our anniversary dinner, so I checked the Yelp reviews. Even though the reviews were a bit all over the map, I thought I would try it out based on the recommendation of my friend. That was a mistake. The prices at this restaurant ($150 for two, without wine) are so high that anything other than an excellent meal is unacceptable. An excellent meal was not had. Do not get me wrong: The food (with the possible exception of the snails) was fresh and appeared to be cooked correctly; however, the dishes lacked the correct seasoning or any kind of interest. The bread and dessert were truly the highlights of the meal. The tomato sauce was the highlight of the snail starter, and the three snails in the dish were very, very fishy. While french onion soup was not on the menu, we chose it based on the server's recommendation. Now, french onion soup can be a true comforting delight; however, this was not a comforting delight. As my partner put it, it was "okay". The sauces associated with the scallops were mystifying as they added nothing to (actually, they detracted from) the flavor profile of the scallops, and the scallops themselves appeared to have been cooked without any seasoning whatsoever. My partner said the barley was more flavorful than the salmon. Yep. The barley was the highlight of his main course. Other than that, the service was very good, although the ambiance was not as exciting as other reviewers would suggest. So, it's "Eek! Methinks not (at these prices)!"

A group of four of us headed over to Coohills for restaurant week last week. I'm becoming less and less convinced that restaurant week is the time to expeirence new places, but so it goes. I arrived before the rest of my friends, and was amused during my 10 minute wait with one of their new iPad wine lists. It has that whiz-bang feel, and though it was laid out a little awkwardly, interesting to play around with. They had a nice selections of wine as well, from sub $30 bottles to those running north of $300. Service was as it should be, attentive but not overbearing. No qualms there. The food was all right, but nothing special. I still don't have a good idea if this is due to the constraints of restaurant week, or due to the restaurant itself. Between the artichokes, the rilette, the fillets, the trout, and the dessert, nothing really wowed us. On the whole, it was a solid bottle of wine, great company, and "eh" food.

Meh. Food was good, service wasn't. We had the crab cake to start, and that was FANTASTIC. My husband had a steak, and it was probably the best steak I have ever had. I had the sea bass. My fish was slightly dry, and the portion was TINY for a $36 entree. My dish was disappointing and overpriced. The server was not friendly at all. It was my birthday and I was asking for suggestions, but I never got one. Bread came out at the same time as our entree. He never came to the table, so I found myself googling some of the items on the menu because I was curious what they were. We ordered a $47 bottle of wine (which was cheap for their menu), and the server didn't hide his disappointment. I wasn't impressed at all.

I am in Denver for work for a month or so and my boss called me one day to tell me try this place out, his very close friends own it...how do you turn down your boss? So another transplant co-worker and I went, I texted the owner ( per my boss) to make a reservation. She was very responsive. The restaurant itself is phenominal to walk into...great setting and a great place to meet up with friends. They hand you an iPad that has the wine menu, how chic is that? We were seated by the window next to the river so we had a great view. The menu is kind of small but it offers great flavor and unusual mixes. One of the owners is a Chef so they know what they are doing. My co worker and I both liked our meal, he had soup to start and I had salad and it was very flavorful. He then ordered the lamb and I had scallops with butternut squash puree. My scallops were great, I think my co worker expected a larger portion though. Do not go on a an empty stomach! The female owner does a wonderful PR job, she checks on all the tables and makes sure everything is operating smoothly. Their son also works there, I think restaurants that have the owners family working make great places to eat ( coming from an ex- restaurant owner). It looks like they have a room made for larger parties as well, so if you have some sort of meeting planned...

This restaurant gave us an incredible experience. We called to see if they could accomodate a seating of 9 (only about 10 minutes before we showed up, on a Friday night) after our reservation had been given away at our original intended dining location. Not only were they able to seat us immediately BUT they went all out. We were seated immediately at the "chef's table" which means we all got a front row seat to be able to see all the glory that was going on in the kitchen. The service was perfect. Not a single error: glasses always filled (you can pick still or bubbly water), endless delicious bread and butter supply, impeccable timing on the food delivery, and the owners themselves stopped by to chat. And OH, those crab cake things on the appetizer menu make my mouth water just thinking about them! My one, and only complaint (although still important) was that the flavor of the main course itself was a bit lacking. The lobster ravioli sauce tasted a bit bland. The pizza that someone else at my table got had too many flavors going on all at once that clashed a bit. I would really LOVE to give this place another shot the next time I'm in Denver to see if they've tweaked the menu a bit so that I can give it the proper 5 stars it deserves.

My husband and I decided to try to this place out for lunch today and we were so disappointed in the food and the service at the beginning. I arrived 15 minutes earlier than my husband and was welcomed warmly by the hostess. I sat there for 10 minutes without being greeted by a server, any water or any menus. Finally our server stopped by my booth and asked if I had been helped. Service gradually improved. We both decided to try to the Wagyu Burger and it was a complete let down. The patty was flavorless, the tomato was sliced too thick and it was actually bigger than the patty itself, there were a couple strings of sauteed onions topped off with way too much arugula and the fries tasted like they came out of the freezer and straight into the deep fryer. The whole time we were there - I saw the owner Diane visit every single table to greet the guests and ask how the food was but we were the one table that she missed each time she did her rounds. If you want repeat business, extend a warm welcome to every customer and taste the food you're serving...

Terrible service. I made a reservation here a week before my boyfriend's birthday in hopes of a special evening. Instead, we were met with an iPad to order wine....I look at computers all week- the last thing I want at a nice restaurant is this sort of gimmick. Where am I, Applebees? We ordered the cheese plate and I could not beg our waiter to tell me what kind of cheese we were tasting. The best he could do was tell me "Cow, Goat and Sheep." I have no idea where they find their staff- but this particular man clearly had somewhere else he would rather be. He was impatient, unprofessional and simply incompetent. I had called ahead to request a special plate for dessert and when I ordered the chocolate torte, he was offended because it would take 20 minutes to prepare. We left without ordering a birthday dessert because at this point I was extremely upset. Overall, the experience was terribly disappointing. The food is delicious and the place is beautiful. But, it is obvious as to why it was completely empty on a Saturday night.

Awesome service and great for happy hour with friends or a business lunch in the private room! I first discovered Coohills when my boyfriend and I were taking photos of the old bridges and we stopped in for a drink. It's very upscale and modern inside and the bartender was nice and drinks were delicious! Just last week my company held an employee business lunch in the private room. I ordered salmon over creamed spinach with capers and a light lemon wine sauce. It was one of the best salmon dishes I've had and service was great. I'm gluten sensitive so they chef whipped up some almond lace cookies, served with chocolate truffles. Delicious! The owner, Diane Coohill came and introduced herself to us and thanked us. This past weekend I held a birthday happy hour there for myself and 20 friends. Diane worked with me personally to come up with an affordable menu and made great suggestions. My party was in the couch area by the windows, overlooking the cherry creek trail. For an upscale place with the perfect location, I think they have a great happy hour. Dark n Stormy's were the drink of the night for $6 and several friends ordered the pizza's and truffle fries. Dessert was bread pudding and chocolate mouse tort. The day after the party I received a thank you note and phone call from them. This is a family owned restaurant with great customer service and attention to detail! I could find nothing to complain about and that's really not like me. It's also the perfect location for a pre or post Pepsi center activity! Enjoy.

WOW! I am so impressed with the level of service Coohills demonstrated on Saturday night, for a wedding I had planned with the Owner, Diane Coohill.. Everything was truly perfect. There is honestly NOTHING I can say to give "constructive criticism" because you all were absolutely perfect. Everyone was extremely friendly, helpful, generous, and loving. They all were so sweet and did EVERYTHING they could to make sure our bride and groom had a wonderful wedding day...which they did! Diane, was a dream to work with from day one. I knew we would get along fabulously, but she went above and beyond with her time, passion, and dedication to making this event such a success. I wish all restaurant owners were as fabulous to work with as she was.. The entire staff was phenomenal. I was sooooo impressed with all of them - from the bartender to the dishwasher to Molly to the GM. Everyone was on their A-game and I could tell how much they cared and wanted to make sure everything went well. I really could go on and on about how fabulous Coohills was.. The food was exceptional (even the delicious vendor meal), the cake was stunning, the drinks were fast + tasty, and the space looked absolutely stunning. Photos to come soon... If you are looking for a wedding venue that is intimate, special, unique, charming, and delicious... Coohills is your place. Ask for Diane and know you are in GREAT hands!

I went last night for 5280. Now it could have been average food with poor service, but the food was terrific. The service was off, I mention that later. I had the carpaccio as an appetizer, Prime NY Strip and or desert bread pudding. For each, all I can say is wow! Terrific carpaccio! The portion size was just right! Easily 5 star food with 3 star service, so a 4 overall. Our waiter started out really good, but seemed put off when I didn't order wine and just had beer. From that point forward he was put off. When I asked what were in the scalloped potatoes, he said I don't know lots of stuff. Maybe it was because it was 5280 week, but his attitude was noticeable. I will be back the food was terrific!

Coohills is fantastic. The food and service are both stellar. I've been both for dinner, as well as for drinks and nibbles in the bar, and have been thrilled with both. Great ambiance--luxe and chic. The food is delicious--the crab cake is crispy, flavorful and melty. The salads have been crisp, briny and bright. Ribeye: amazingly juicy and luscious. The owners, managers and staff have been so charming, eager to please and gracious. It's nice to feel so warmly welcomed and so pampered. We're going back tomorrow night--can't wait!

The tasting menu here is wonderful. We were greedy and opted for the seven course meal, which was amazing but extremely filling. So be sure to come hungry for the seven course tasting menu :) I enjoy the ambiance of the interior and the great view of LoDo from the large windows. We opted to sit at the front table and watch the activity in the kitchen while noshing on the amazing courses. Everything was delicious but the foie gras was exceptionally good. The highlight was definitely the crab cake that I believe was prepared with scallop mousse and had just an amazing explosion of seafood flavor. The dessert was amazing as well. It's apparently a trade secret recipe that Chef Coohill learned from the recipe creator and involved a sugared hazelnut, some amazing mousses and cocoa sorbet. Hard to describe, but so easy to devour.. Overall, the dinner was a delightful treat for our eyes and tastebuds and I can't wait to visit again soon.

Three friends and I came for Denver's 5280 Restaurant Week and were seated promptly for our 6:00 reservation. The three-course dinner was served rapidly (okay, we were rushed), with small portions, but was delicious. Definitely loved the truffle-salted sourdough bread and mushroom risotto. We were finished with our meals within 45 minutes of being seated, and three of us had wine and coffee to finish while we chatted. As it was a Wednesday night and not crowded, we weren't in a hurry. The Assistant General Manager, Richard, felt it necessary to interrupt us mid-conversation and inform us that we needed to order more food or leave. I have never been treated so rudely, especially an hour into a dinner reservation on a slow mid-week evening. I had heard that the owners had a failed restaurant in Atlanta, and if this is how they treat customers, I can see why. It doesn't matter whether I spend $52 or $150 - I am still your customer and should be treated as such. Their attitude will fail in Denver as well.

Epic fail. 6:30 pm reservation before 8 pm show. Got served water at 6:45 p, never got food, left without dinner. AND they made us pay for our drinks. 4 tables around us had same experience.

Generally speaking I have a weakness for French food. I'm torn here. The food was excellent and creative. Servers were kind but honestly I felt rushed. I read Nicky K.'s review and there were moments we felt the staff were watching our table like buzzards just waiting or us to leave. Our group ordered wine...after wine...after diet coke. So it's not like we were just camping out. I eat out more than at home, due to business and just because I like to. But if I were in a hurry, I'd stop at Wendy's. Coohills needs to be sensitive to this. On the other hand, the food was magnificent. Ambiance exciting and I think we're going to be back. Nice place for a special date or client entertaining.

This place seems to have a service problem. I see the owner walking around and assume that he reads these reviews, so why does this happen? The bar servers, while professional, seemed cold and pretentious. You pass a basket of fruit/vegetables as you enter the bar suggesting a sense of a mixology scene, but when I ask for a mojito they didn't even have mint and were too smug telling me that they were not capable of making me such a common drink. 2nd basic drink order, 2nd time they said no. It was like we were put in time-out for the next 10 minutes as they walked by and even up to me but never would make eye contact. I finally ordered from their small drink menu and while one bartender said the drink was make with vodka and the other said it was gin. Luckily it was a good drink and priced fairly. It's a gorgeous room, good tunes/sound system, and I like a chef/owner, but several people have told me the food's way over rated, plenty complain of bad service, and my own experience was below expectations. I think I'll pass.

I received a gift card from the owner Diane so I decided to take some girlfriends out for dinner. The ambiance is great. Outdoor and indoor seating, private dining rooms, Chef's table, etc. The restaurant seemed pretty classy but there were diners dressed in anything from business suites to jeans and t-shirts. The staff was great as well. Tom the Executive Chef/Owner introduced him self and said hi as soon as we walked in the door. The hostess didn't mind changing my reservation time (even though it was a busy Friday night) when we were running late. Our waitress was very nice, new a lot about the restaurant, and gave us great recommendations (and did I mention she showed us the wine list on an Ipad!). Back to the food! I'm not a big seafood eater but when the waitress brought us a complimentary tuna tartare I had to try it. The bread was delicious; served with truffle salt on top of the butter. It was very light and the flavors were well balanced. For entrees the three of us had roasted chicken, swordfish, and scallops. The scallops were cooked to perfection, but the swordfish was a little fisher than I had expected and the chicken could have used more seasoning. Overall we had a nice time, but I recommend going in for drinks and desserts, or maybe an appetizer. We had the bread pudding which was fantastic. It was sweet but not too heavy, and served with a caramel sauce, whipped cream, and berries (which were skewered with a thin piece of sugar!).

After all the hype we looked forward to trying Coohill's for Denver Restaurant Week. We were sadly disappointed. While the vibe, dining room and food are very good, the DRW menu was uneven and the service was poor. Four stars for food, zero for service. I'm all about food, but the service was so unprofessional it ruined the dining experience and we won't be back. First the menu. The offerings and choices were decent, but the amounts and presentation were all over the map. The rillette was generous and delicious, but only two baguette slices for all that pork? Come on now. It would have been great if some of their tasty bread were on the table, but it wasn't - more on that later. The shrimp dish was three (3!) small critters served ungarnished on a tiny little bread plate. They looked forelorn but were tasty. Or should I say taste-y because a taste is about all they amounted to. The mains were all good. Well-prepared filet, tasty risotto, very good trout. But again portion sizes were all over the map -- the filet was generous, the trout was just about right bordering on smallish, but the risotto was appetizer-sized. So we felt that the food overall was very good, but it was not a very good value for DRW. On to the service. Our server Rachel didn't deliver our wine until our apps were finished (even though twice she apologized for NOT having brought it), got one of the mains wrong, did not ask if everyting was OK (we had to grab a different server to correct the main), never did bring bread (we finally asked a different server, who brought it when we were almost done with our mains) and after all this -- offered no consolation/break other than a weak "I'm sorry." In a place as swank and hyped as this, "sorry" doesn't cut it. This is Coohills' first DRW and maybe they'll get the kinks worked out next year. But the gaping disconnect between the promise and the delivery are too great to warrant a recommendation. There are just too many other excellent restaurants in Denver.

Cool place. I just went here to eat last week with some business partners. We rented out the backroom group area. They had a nice big screen TV there for our slides and the waitstaff was very nice. The owner, or at least I think it was the owner, came in multiple times to check on us.

Welcome addition to lodo. Service is some of the best in Denver. But, it's not French. Yeah, they have some french appetizers and plates, but also have pizza and pasta. Great big horseshoe bar. Classy place, but not stuffy. Just started lunch service and rumored to be doing quick breakfast--coffee and pastries--very soon.

I can never say anything bad about this place. My friend and I went last Friday and sat at the Chef's Table. Simply Amazing!!!!! Chef Coohill is one of the best chef's I have had the experience of dining with. He was very nice and answered all our questions. We got samples of the crab cakes (which are now my new favorite) and the bread pudding with apple tart. We also ate the Parmesan crusted organic egg salad, the vegetable tartine, and the butternut squash ravioli. And if you love brussels sprouts, this is the place to go! The staff was wonderful and and took the minute to really listen to us. I can't wait to sit at the Chef's table again!! It was such a great experience that my sister and her husband are going tomorrow night!!

This was our 2nd stop for Denver Restaurant Week. We had never been here before and wanted to check it out. First of all, the staff are terrific. The hostess was warm and our server, Kyle S., was nice and very knowledgable about wine. Though I have to say the iPad app for their wine list is super fun. They had several bottles on special for 5280 and you could read about each one, tasting notes, pairing suggestions, etc. Being a wino, I spent several minutes playing with this. Secondly, the space is super cool. The decor and layout, the tables, the bar- it's all really trendy and fun. I may go back to check out their happy hour and sit in the huge bar. The windows are awesome and it sports a nice northwest view. On to the food! Nothing really stood out. As most people have noted, it was only meh. The fresh sourdough bread they bring to the table with truffle butter is fantastic. We have a few helpings of this! And the service doesn't get all snooty about bringing out more; they are happy to do it. Having heard that the portions were small, we started with the duck and brussel sprouts appetizer. That was pretty good. I loved the brussel sprouts- nicely roasted and very tasty. The duck was good too. We moved on to our own 5280 picks. Between the 4 of us, we tried all of the first courses. I had the shrimp and honestly, it did not taste fresh to me. Only 3 little shrimp and some inedible onion strips on top. Odd. The pork was cold and more like a chicken salad texture- you spread it on crackers like a pate. Not what my honey was expecting! It was ok. The artichoke looked great and our friend said it was delicious. Not a lot of dipping sauce for it though...looked like it could use some melted butter! For our entrees, 3 of us had the filet and 1 had the risotto. The filets were quite tiny and personally, I did not feel the cut of meat was that great. The one at Capital Grille was soooooo much better. No contest. Mine was cooked properly but the 2 others said theirs were over done. The risotto looked pretty good (though a small portion) and she said she enjoyed it- fancy mushrooms and all! The dessert was an ice cream bar of some sort that was ok. I don't typically order dessert and this would not be something that would tempt me to do so. But it was a nice little treat. All in all, it's not a place where I need to return- though the service was terrific. If I am able to drop in for happy hour and it really wows me- I may be convinced!! Ooh- of note: coohill's does have a parking garage next to the restaurant and it's only $5 to park on the weekends...even during events! You are not required to dine at the restaurant to park there so it's quite a steal if you're looking for parking!

Went to this place by a recommendation from an older friend. I was warned about the atmosphere being for an older crowd, and it is. The music is quite misleading though, when I went there, they were playing REALLY good electronic music. The food is pricey and for the price, the presentation doesn't leave a fulfilling feeling. Place is filled with the older crowd, (45 and up) but it is a decent place. Nothing wowed me at the experience. A good place for a date if you want a private conversation while your impressing them with your wallet.

Where to begin... PROS Fresh, inspiring, food with quality ingredients Great happy hour specials for spirits and beer Especially great deals if you're looking for a place to stop by before an event at the Pepsi Center CONS dishonest and rude bartender ( I believe his name was Kyle... shaved head, anxious energy.. We showed up prior to a basketball game looking for some reasonably priced food and a couple beverages. Food was awesome, atmosphere was great, but watch out for Kyle. He ruined our experience with poor service and billing us for food we didn't order. We pointed this out to him, and he fixed it, except he added another 20% in charges after by neglecting to give us happy hour specials. We left before we realized this, but the overall impression was that our entire experience was him trying to upcharge us so he could have a larger tip. Plus he complained about his coworkers and having to work every time we interacted with him. In summary, we'll try again because of the food and atmosphere , but we won't be sitting at the bar if Kyle is tending and we'll be easy especially vigilant about triple checking our Bill.

Coohills is a great restaurant!! I had a fabulous time!! I sat at the Chef's Table and with each course Tom Coohill explained to me what was being served, the origin of each course, and how it was prepared. My servers where extremely knowledgable, patient in answering any questions that I had, they met and exceeded all of my expectations. Diane Coohill, is a bundle of energy, with an infectious smile that made me feel very welcome!! I highly recommend Coohills for your next dining experience! A BIG THUMBS UP!!

Things were off to a promising start. Positives: The truffle butter and bread were yummy. The cheese plate was great--but how do you screw that up? Servers were knowledgeable and friendly. Owner & Manager came by the table and said hi.. Beautiful build-out Negatives: Waygu steak tasted like char on the outside and nothing on the inside Pizza crust was not good and the sauce was bland. It's pretty hard to mess up a pizza! Overall, we really wanted to like this place but what it came down to was that the food just really wasn't good....it wasn't bad....it was just kinda whatever. My friend referred to his steak as "the quality he gets on airplanes"

Gorgeous scene. Spacious and charming, with a sprinkle of understated opulence. They have a fantastic private room - though I do wish you could still look out onto the rest of the restaurant - may be a little too private for my taste. The service is solid and well-timed, and they serve excellent drinks - their wine suggestions have been impeccable so far. The food isn't as flavorful as I think it should be for the price, but that seems to vary depending on what you order. All in all, I'd say it's okay - I'd go back for drinks with friends and to the bridge view at sunset.

The location is great, the valet parking is unfortunately around the block but it's nice that they offer it at all. The food is not French. They say it is but nowhere on the menu (other than a cheese plate) is there anything French (and I was dining with my Parisian SIL). Our party of 3 ordered the prawns on cauliflower purée and octopus to start. Both deliciously seasoned and served at the perfect temperature. We then ordered from the pastas: lobster ravioli, gnocchi & diver scallops, and agnolotti. All perfectly cooked, sauced, and simply plated. Desserts were mint chocolate layer cake (superbly made with REAL mint) and bread pudding. Both delicious and perfectly sized to share! Great dinner, fabulous wine selection, and a warm industrial vibe inside. I'll be back again but will order more courses. They offered many but I didn't want to overdo it on my first visit. Now that I know the portions are modest, I'll order accordingly. Menu offers: small plates, salads, soup, pizzas, pastas, main, and sides.

Finally got to trying Coohills tonight and was well-satisfied with the experience. Excellent service, great attention to detail, all meals were excellent and a wonderful wine selection. We went with the idea that we were going to order small plates and split meals to not only keep the cost down but to try several items. We had the mussels, the confit of brussel sprouts and duck, the french sausage, the short rib as the main course, an add on of button mushrooms and the hazelnut mouse cake. Everything other than the mushroom add-on and one mussel (not bad out of probably 2 dozen) was outstanding, prepared perfectly and flavorful/melt-in-your-mouth. Don't miss the duck confit! We'll definitely be back! P.S. Don't believe the bad reviews...check it for yourself.

Our first impression today came from the person at the hostess station with the stony expression, who only bothered to say "how many?". This same person was also our server and couldn't be bothered to crack a smile or show the slightest bit of warmth. The pork sandwich we had for lunch was excellent, so if food is the only part of your dining out experience you care about, then I say "go for it". We were also a bit put off by the fact the manager stood talking to the chef and couldn't be bothered to say "good bye", "how was your meal?", "come again", or any of the other niceties you come to expect as a part of good customer service. Nice touch, people. I won't go out of my way to go back there, as there are too many good restaurants in Denver to bother with one that doesn't seem to care whether you eat there or not.

Let's start with the reservation. I had planned on going to another restaurant for Valentine's day but found that they happened to be closed on Tuesdays, so I gave a call to Coohills in the hope that they had a few reservations available. They were a bit busy so they said they'd call me back and they did within about 10 minutes with an available spot. We were seated in a fantastic location near the window facing the western part of downtown. We both made a comment about how we enjoyed the view. Honestly though, seemed like most of the restaurant had pretty decent seating. I was a bit disappointed in the limited price fixed menu (for Valentine's day). There was a pairing option as well. They were quick to bring out the pairing very closely with each dish, and the wife loved each of her wines. She was a bit disappointed with the amount of wine for each pairing, but I don't think that impaired the evening at all. The bread that came was a sourdough braid of sorts, and was very pleasant with a crisp set of outer layers with a gooey but well cooked inside. The butter that accompanied it had a fantastic truffle salt flavor. Each dish was wonderful, with a good mix of flavors, and all of the seafood was very very fresh. The medium on the beef tenderloin was fantastically tender and more on the medium rare side which is what I prefer. The desert was an amazing array of flavors between a raspberry sorbet to some amazingly strong but fantastic passion fruit truffle to a shockingly good flourless chocolate cake. Overall, we were very happy with the experience and with the service. We'll be going back without question.

Noticed this restaurant on my way back from a hockey game. I work right across the street and had no idea a restaurant had even opened in this space. What caught my eye was the outdoor fire lounge. We sat outside and ordered some drinks and apps. It's a quite corner of downtown and not much foot traffic in this area. Haven't had a chance to try the full menu and will review when I have had a chance to. Worth checking out though if you are leaving the Pepsi Center after an event.

The space is beautiful, tasteful and the acoustics were well thought out. We ate in the dining area which is separated from the bar and could hear each other talk just fine. The staff was gracious as could be and the food was AMAZING. The lamb was cooked to perfection, the fresh veggies were delightful and the apple dessert was to die for. This is a wonderful addition to the Denver dining scene.

Love Coohills! They score the perfect harmony between intimate, beautiful, and delicious. Very personable from the time you walk in the door. I'm pregnant and our server, Johanna, was so sweet in assuring everything was safe for me to consume...and the chefs altered parts of my meal so I could eat without fear! She went above and beyond and brought out special "Happy Birthday" tartlets. Very great experience during both visits!

"The chef de cuisine must be a heavy smoker..." was the comment made by someone in our group of 6. Because everything that was put in front of us was salted to hell, to the point it hurt my mouth. Only someone with obliterated taste buds would consider the amuse bouche to be remotely amusing. Should have called it offend bouche. My ravioli dish (consisting of three pieces) was sad, oily, and painfully salty. His Dudeness ordered his steak medium plus, but was served a cut with the beast's pulse still detectable. After sending it back to have it cooked as ordered, the same previously living hunk arrived transformed into a lump of black, sooty coal. That went back too, but by this point, His Dudeness had no confidence in the kitchen and declined to order a replacement meal. They present their wine list on an iPad. Gimmicky to the extreme, without enhancing utility or customer delight. Our server was caring and hard working. We bonded because he was sick and tired of the (apparently frequent) kitchen bungles sabotaging his customer service. No one in my group left happy or solvent. An abomination all around.

Giving a very very generous 4 stars to Coohills, mostly on the promise that it shows rather than the actual experience. We went with friends for a special occasion, and I realize that Coohills just opened but looked forward to the meal based on the reputation of their Atlanta restaurant. The space is eyepopping, with floor to ceiling glass and dark wood everywhere. The patio out front is spacious, and located right on Cherry Creek, it is going to be a popular hangout during the warmer months. We sat in one of the round booths which I have to say was a bit awkward for a party for four. As many as six people could have fit around it, so I felt a little bit like out on an island by myself during the meal. Overall I really liked the dining room, however. We were expecting and prepared for some hitches in service since they had just opened, but our waiter quickly let slip that it was his first night of service, and it didn't take too long before that became apparent. I understand how difficult it is during the first week, so I won't detail all the mistakes, but for the benefit offering my observations for improvement, I would say that the service suffered from paying us too much attention to the point of annoyance; my friend was asked by at least three or four people whether he was finished with his drink when he wasn't, and our waters were never allowed to get down below the 3/4 full level. The food took an extremely long time to come out; our entrees were served nearly two hours after we ordered them. And since the dining room was pretty empty, I don't see any excuses for that. Standouts included the Octopus starter and the Wagyu ribeye steak which I had (though the accompanying pommes anna was a hockey puck). My wife's fish dish was too salty and our friends had the lamb and a clam pasta entrees and neither was particularly inspired. Several dishes had spinach on the plate, and for each of us it was gritty with sand. We were a little despondent after waiting so long for our food and getting a so-so meal, so we skipped dessert. Perhaps Coohills was expecting to make a really quiet soft open but was unexpectedly slammed by the attention given by the Denver Post article featuring them as a hot new restaurant, but definitely they under-delivered in nearly every aspect of the experience. I feel like my review comes out sounding like a litany of excuses for Coohills, but I quite expect that one year from now, it will have hit its stride and will be one of the hot dining spots in Denver. They have all the ingredients for success; they just need some time to pull it all together.

Coohills is a classic example of a restaurant opening with GREAT food unfortunately paired with bad service, maybe not bad, but certainly amateurish. We went Memorial Day Weekend and managed to get Saturday reservations for 6 the night before! The space is great and well laid out. We were seated as soon as we arrived and given an iPad that contained the wine list. We wanted to start the evening with something light and had a question about two of the wines, the waiter told us she would send over the sommelier who never came to our table. We got the attention of the waiter and went ahead and ordered a bottle. When she served the wine we told her we needed a couple of minutes to figure out our order for starters, after 20 minutes (and feeling we had been forgotten) she caught my eye and indicated she would be over. We went ahead and ordered starters and entrees at this point. I started with the charred octopus and mussels which was served to me without the mussels! When we asked about the missing mussels the waiter seemed embarrased and said something about this being an older preparation, whatever that meant, and brought me a very small little dish of mussels 5-10 minutes later. I will say that the octopus was probably the best octopus I've ever had and the mussels were delicious. Interestingly, another person at our table ordered the same dish as an entree and it was presented with the octopus and mussels combined in a beautiful, lidded dish. How could an item on the menu called charred octopus and mussels be served to two people so differently when it was ordered at the same time for the same table??? When the entrees arrived they were all sat down at the wrong place, again, this shouldn't happen at a restaurant like Coohills if a a casual dining restaurant like Park and Co can get it right! By this time we had ordered a third bottle of wine and were enjoying our entrees, everything from the specials to the menu items were very well prepared. I will say that the roasted half organic chicken is not a true half and the advertised white asparagus that accompanied the chicken turned out to be 3 little spears hidden under the chicken. We decided to avoid dessert, growing tired of the bumps in our evening, and asked for our check. Speaking of dessert, why is the dessert menu presentation left to the bus person rather than the waiter? After handing the check and credit cards to the waiter she returned to the table and told us she forgot to add the third bottle of wine. The night just wouldn't end. We are all experienced diners and this was not the experience we wanted. With so many wonderful restaurants in Denver we're just not "give them another chance" kind of people, we would rather not waste a good night out.

Just when you think Coohills can't get any better, it does! The chilled asparagus and burrata...The mushroom pizza...Now it's going to be tough to save room for the "morning after" new brunch menu! I already like what I see...one of the menu headings: "Nosh and nibblers" speaks to me...because that is exactly what you can do at Coohills-Oh and don't forget dessert- the apple tart will melt your heart!

I've been to Coohills once before, it was around 10:30 on a Saturday night and didn't get a chance to try their food since the kitchen was closed but that's not my reason for the poor rating. My reason is that the bar staff seemed put off by our "late" arrival. My wife and I stayed for just one drink and went home (we live across the street) The second visit (and most likely the last) left a very, very sour taste in our my mouth. Again my wife and I visited Coohills but this time it was on a Tuesday night around 7pm. It was a beautiful night and so we wanted to sit on the patio and snack on their Bar menu. Since we weren't sure if it was a seat yourself kind of place we waited at the front next to the vacated Greeters Booth...and waited we did for about two minutes. That might not sound like very long but it feels like an eternity when you're being ignored. Several wait staff passed us and said nothing, there was a lady standing behind a counter to the right of us writing in a book that also said nothing and the most frustrating part is that Mr. Coohill himself was standing about ten feet directly in front of us, I guess the conversation he was having with someone was too good to pause for a moment and excuse himself to help a patron. I'm sure the food is good but the place must be so popular that they just don't need my business.

Miam! As the French would say. Coohill's is a must! A great place for a nice night on the town. Being a beer and dessert kind of gal, this place was great! Make sure you save room for any of the chocolate-based dishes on the menu, as they are wonderful. I would recommend to anybody who also enjoyed Euclid Hall in Denver, similar design but much more refined taste. Yummy!

so you pull up to the valet stand and there is a sign that says "keep driving round the block". so you do. after two right turns and a struggle to see the microscopic direction signs in the dark, you find yourself in a cul-de-sac with a valet. he gives you a ticket and says "get it validated". you walk a block back to the restaurant (isn't the idea of valet that you DON'T need to walk any distance in the cold)? you eat a very average meal, attended on by coked-out waiters who are surprisingly slow to bring food, fast to bring the massive bill, and keep telling you their name is chad or brad or spud or something. (and this is on a slow thursday). you return to the valet stand and find that your car is parked on the street with a ticket on the window stating "call me" posted by the valet. luckily you don't need to return to the restaurant because you carry a cell phone, and you call him. he says he will be back in ten minutes. it's freezing cold. he returns, tells you "it's $12" and dangles your keys in your face. you say "here is the validated ticket; we ate at coohills". he says,"yup. $12". obviously we aren't going anywhere intelligent with this thug, so we pay quickly because we're freezing, having been kept waiting while he finished his joint somewhere. we call the restaurant back to complain that free valet service after a $180 meal is expected, especially after being told to validate our ticket. "not here" they reply. "can you find good food or service at coohills"? you ask. "not here" i reply. they will be out of business by this time next year.

We had a less than perfect first visit to Coohills a month or so ago. When we brought it to the attention of the restaurant leadership it was handled with remarkable speed and thoroughness. Because of that, we returned last night to give the place a second try. We were certainly glad that we did. The food last night was incredible, the service was great, and who can beat half price wine on Sundays? We tried to pick a favorite dish of the five we tried and it was nearly impossible. We gave a slight edge to the chocolate cake that ended the meal, but any of the dishes would stand up to any meal in the city. Our second meal was a five star experience, so we're going with four to account for the mishaps of our first time.

I never right bad reviews... and I really wanted to like this restaurant, love french food, but didn't like this place. Some how they served me a duck confit that was dry... how is that possible, its supposed to be slow cooked in duck fat, it must have been 2 days old. they served it over unseasoned flavorless Brussels sprouts, served in a weird bowl that made it hard to eat... they managed to mess up 2 of my favorite things in the world... so surely they would get my entree right, which was Lamb I love Lamb my grandpa was a sheep header. I had the lamb porter house, with roast parsnips and a sweet mash mmmm sounds delicious... Was not. The piece of lamb its self was good, however it was very poorly executed, it was kind of blackened on the out side and raw in the middle, which is fine I don't mind raw lamb so I ate down the maybe 4 oz of meat that was left on the bone pretty steep for $32... I don't know maybe I got a forward cut piece, closer to what would be a T bone Lamb steak, cause I couldn't even scrape off a bite of the tenderloin side... it was pretty much just a fat cap. The roast parsnips were insulting thrown on the plate as if they had been scooped out of a cafeteria line, completely void of and flavor just a white spongy circles. The sweet mash totally uninspired, and the Au jus was just a joke. It tasted like caned reduced beef stock a little salty and that's it no flavor at all. They did have beer. I live right around the corner and at some point might end up there again, hopefully it will be better and if it is I'll let you know.

Service review only - why did I come here, oh that's right, it's a new restaurant and it's French cuisine. Food was good, pricey. The service was awful!!! I read all the reviews before I went to dinner here and 100% reviews were on spot! The waitstaff was rude, timid, obnoxious, agro and rushed! It really wasn't worth my breath/effort to speak with mgmt to embarrass or ruin their day. In all, food was good but service gives you a bad taste in your mouth after.

Went here during Restaurant Week. As expected, the food was slow to come out. Our entrees took close to an hour from the time they were ordered. Overall, the food was great, but it didn't blow me away. The wine, however, was excellent (though expensive.)

Coohills has an Aspen-like feel to it. Beautifully decorated, pretentious, horribly overpriced, and quite overrated. You are paying for their high rent location and their high start up cost when you visit this place, not an incredible meal. Since Coohills has ridiculous prices (seriously, $38 for lamb? I can get a prime cut of filet at almost any Denver steakhouse for that absurd price.), my girlfriend and I thought it would be worth giving this place a shot for Denver Restaurant Week. It was a great idea in theory, but a bad decision in reality. I'll come out and say it: this is one of the restaurants that should opt out of DRW. Our server mentioned how wonderful several items were on their "special a-la-carte menu" for diners who did not want to partake in DRW. They were maybe a third full and they don't make an effort to do anything special in order to draw you back and they look at you (and feed you) like a peasant when you order off the DRW menu. Once we indicated that we wanted to order off the DRW menu, our server immediately tried to upsell us a bottle of wine that is normally $33 at Argonaut for the "incredible Denver Restaurant week only price of $52.80" for the bottle. True, that markup isn't really unreasonable, but the fact that Coohills normally puts a $70 charge on the bottle speaks volumes about how overpriced this place is. But hey, the drink menu is shown to you on an iPad, so you should be paying for the elevated level of dining technology that you probably have at your own house. We both started with the potato leek soup. The taste was certainly "meh." It had a watery consistency and was filled with a whopping two baby shrimp. Baby as in slightly bigger than the miniature shrimp you'd find in fried rice at a cheap Chinese restaurant. Nothing else in the soup and nothing special at all. For the main course, we had the New York Strip. After having an amazing 6 oz. filet at Shanahan's for DRW, I expected that Coohills would rise to the occasion with a masterful cut of beef. What I got was two small cubes of New York strip steak, about five potatoes, and a couple of carrot slices. I requested medium-rare and they brought it out medium. It wasn't overcooked enough to send it back and it tasted fine. I could personally cook a better New York Strip on my grill at home and the portion size was laughable. That was by far the worst portion size I've had during DRW, and I have visited 2-3 restaurants every year for the past seven years. Fail. For dessert, we both had the brioche bread pudding. Much like the steak, it was alright, but nothing to write home about. And certainly not worth the full boat price of $8 on their normal menu. They skimped on the caramel sauce, which was pretty tasty. Overall, while I did enjoy the ambiance of the place, Coohills was a great disappointment. There is way too much pretentiousness here for the quality of the food. Overrated and overpriced is the final verdict.

So I don't write a lot of reviews, however, after dining at Coohills on several occasions and then reading the review from Jeremy K. I found it necessary to write one. I couldn't disagree with him more! It is unfortunate that he had a bad experience. It is also unfortunate that when someone has a bad experience that it tends to be exaggerated in one's head. Every experience that my husband and I have had a Coohills has been fantastic! The food has been superb and the service attentive, efficient and professional. I would and have recommended it to friends and family and will continue to do so!

Coohills, we are expecting great things from you! Tonight was encouraging. We didn't get a seat in the dining room and the bar menu was limited but we are encouraged. The tuna tar tare was just right. The cheese plate was mostly perfect (more on that later) and the sausage pizza made my baby go mmmmmmmm..... We were hoping for a go-to alternative to Zengo and this just might be it. Coohills opened last week. They mention "French" here and there on their website but we're OK with that. The new space was inviting and comfortable and the staff was attentive and friendly without being annoying. So why only 4 stars? Well... We like to reserve 5 stars for out-of-the-park dining. This was a home run but not quite out of the park. The cheese plate came with burnt bread and we were a little bummed to miss out on the full menu. I know baby liked it because soon after we got home she (edited by baby). If dinner gets her that worked up you know they are doing something right. Our bread pudding desert was also a hit and we will definitely be back for dinner! Don't let us down Coohills!

I've been to Coohill's four times. I'm hopeful they are working out the service issues. The last time I went, in February, there were six of us. All of us ordered different entrees and we were all practically licking our plates. I'm a vegetarian and the vegetarian entree was delicious.

Wow one of the worst meals I have had in Denver. Such a disappointment. Started from the moment we sat down and the waiter rattled off way too much info at once including what they were out of. 2 appetizers, an entree and some of there cocktails. We ordered the crab appetizer which was quite delicious. Bread was served after this which seemed out of order but was fantastic, the best thing all night. The Cesar salad was solid but not remarkable. And then the disaster... I had the scallops and gnocchi which where uneatable completely hard on one side. I wasn't able to stick a fork in them. The scallops were cooked well and had good flavor but the broth/sauce was bland and uninteresting. Frankly the gnocchi were so poorly done the dish was a turn off. My father had the fish special which was chard beyond recognition on the outside. It was plain old burnt. The food was so bad I would have complained if anyone had come to check on us during the meal but no one did despite the dining room being almost empty. A buser showed up and asked to box our meals which we did to take to our dogs. When the waiter did return and ask how everything was we told him. He apologized and then sent over someone else who I don't think really believed us since we had boxed our meals. They offered us free desert which we really didn't want. When pushed I took it home to give to a friend who said it was really good. Apparently they should stick to baking. In retrospect I wish we had sent our meals back to the kitchen for $30 a plate your food shouldn't be uneatable and with not one dish but both entrees awful I have to give this restaurant one star. Although I might be convinced to return to the bar for a cocktail I will never eat at this restaurant again.

Went for happy hour and sat on the great patio! Drink deals were good, the view was nice, and the bar menu was super tasty. I will definitely go again, maybe for dinner!

We requested the chef's table. We were seeking an interactive evening. The point of a chef's table, IMO, is to watch, learn a little, and have some fun. However, the chef/owner completely ignored us. The restaurant was not busy. We asked a few questions and based on his response I'd have to go with: A. He's painfully shy or introverted and engaging with guests is out of his comfort zone; B. For whatever reason, he has zero interest in interacting with guests C. No one told him that when you host a chef's table, you're actually supposed to talk to your customers about what you are serving. Note that the chef's table is a long narrow high top - so you sacrifice sitting across from your company for the chef table experience. Anyhow, we all found it to be quite odd and rather disappointing. The food was very mixed - the starters were a mixed bag. Dessert was good. The mains were disappointing. On our first visit we had a more consistent experience but have been back twice since and it has been lacking. Atmosphere is lovely. The service was odd. Our waitress was very aloof/distracted and acted very out of it. Good thing we were at the chef's table - the food didn't have far to travel. I notice this restaurant is written up in the Post often. I wonder if there is some connection there as we've eaten at Coohills 3x now and overall couldn't give it above 3 stars. But we hope it has a turn around as it's a great location and it's always wonderful to see new restaurants thrive and add more choice in town.

We were excited to try Coohills last night for DRW. I got my reservation the 1st day I could. We arrived at 6 and noticed the place wasn't even at half capacity. The atmoshpere was nice. We were seated immediately and given an iPad with the wine selection on it, then a HUGE paper menu for the beer and cocktails. I thought that was a bit odd. I also felt a bit rushed when trying to select a cocktail. I ended up choosing a strawberry vodka concoction and the Dr got a sazerac. My drink was very pretty pink but with a funky taste and gritty texture. The Dr. says his drink isn't made correctly and we decide on what we will eat. Our waitress came by to see how our drinks were, the Dr. said he has had better and she insisted on having the drink corrected. She asked him what he thought of it and he said "Well, if you are going to put me on the spot, it's missing the simple syrup"... I LOLed. Then she comes back and said the bartender admitted to having forgotten the sugar packet... ugh. Yes, they just dumped a sugar packet into his existing drink and handed it back to him. We then shared the artichoke app and shrimp app. The artichoke was terribly undercooked so I couldn't pull off the leafs or separate the heart without quite a bit of work. The shrimp was covered in a bland tomato sauce. Then we shared the filet and the mushroom risotto. Disappointed again. The filet was oddly shaped being too thin and too wide for a filet. The meat also had an odd metallic after taste. The potato side dish tasted pretty much like diner hash browns with no seasonings. My risotto was again, undercooked having a gritty crunch to it. Additionally, it was over salted. Dessert was laughable. A small square of nougat ice cream, a smear of fruit puree and 3 crumbles of a toffee-like substance. We left still hungry.

The first thing that I experienced when I walked in the door was negative so basically they were fighting a bit of an uphill battle, and in all reality the final portion of my evening left a pretty sour taste in my mouth as well. Long story short a good meal with bookends of foul makes for about 3 stars. I had heard great things about the food at Coohills from two of my friends within the past two weeks so I figured I would make reservations for a very special night, my birthday with my family. I made the reservation on Open Table (which might I add you receive no dining points for booking this restaurant). There is no mention of the fact that you CANNOT make reservations for the outside patio area, but man was I told when I walked in. So I made the reservation and in the special comments section I mentioned it was my birthday and weather permitting I would like to sit on the patio. When I walked in to check in with the hostesses, there were three of them behind the counter that looked at me like I was interrupting their dinner or something, news flash ladies you are at work. So hostess #1 starts to walk us to our table, inside, but no big deal, and I mention that I had requested the patio (mind you it was 80 degrees yesterday in Denver). She looked to the other hostesses who told me that they don't take reservations on the patio, and then the crickets started chirping. There were about 6 tables available outside so I inquired about obtaining one of the said tables. They told me that if there was anything outside I could gladly grab a table. Again there were about 6 tables, so recognizing that solving problems was not a skill that any of these girls excelled at I asked for a table outside. Ok, so im fine at this point and now will get to the positive parts of the evening. I thought it was really neat that the wine list was on a IPad, it was cool and techie and spoke to the 'trendy' nature of the restaurant. We decided against wine and had non-alcoholic beverages (this becomes important later on). I too felt a bit rushed, as we were asked to order about 5 minutes after we sat down, but I gently told the waiter that it was my bday and that we were in no rush at which point he mellowed out for the rest of the evening. We started out with the cheese board, which was pretty good size, generally I scoff at the size of cheese boards. It came with about 6 tiny crostini's, but the server was very amiable when we asked for a few more. For my salad I had the romaine hearts which was good, but nothing to write home about and had a very strong anchovy flavor. For my entree I had the scallops with prosciutto and sweet potato puree, and it was delicious. I had a bite of the other two entrees also, the braised shortrib and gnocci, and both were quite delightful. Enter the second fail. Of course we did not have the bill at this point in the evening, but all in all it ended up being north of $150 with no booze. I think that I have mentioned several times in this review that it was my birthday, right? So anyhow me and my mom both order desserts and in most cases and particularly at upscale restaurants they comp your dessert for birthdays. I am by no means cheap and the desserts were only $8 and very good. However, when we got the bill they had charged me for my dessert which I just found to be a little desperate and tacky. I mean really, you could not knock $8 off a a $150 bill?! All in all I thought Coohills was very yummy, but I would be surprised if I suggest going back. There are many restaurants in Denver that have equally good food and provide a far better experience, so I doubt that Coohills will be at the front of my brain when considering where to spend my money.

We went to Coohills for Denver dining week - loved the decor and the service was top notch! Coohills has their wine list on an I-pad, which is pretty cool. You can click on the wine for information about the winery and selected pairings - our table had lots of fun with that. However, the food was just OK for us. The housemade sourdough bread with truffle butter was a highlight, but my grilled artichoke was a little bland and oily and could have used more sauce. I had the mushroom risotto, which was also a little bland and oily. My date had the shrimp appetizer and the filet - he did not love either one. Not terrible, but nothing special. The dessert was this square slab of ice cream, which was good, but could've used more of the wild berry coulis. To sum up, our dinner was nice, but I don't think the food here is worth the money!

I went for restaurant week and was pleasantly surprised (was a bit worried after some of the reviews). I loved the space (can't wait for the summer, that patio looks awesome) and the food was delicious! I had the risotto and my husband had the filet - both great! I also thought the service was excellent - plus they had a number of nice bottles of wine for 52.80 so that was fun as well.

This place was once as good as it gets but it has gone steadily downhill the past six months. Even more disturbing they are offering happy hour prices than deliberately charging full price. Be careful and beware of their happy hour prices

Great happy hour location, lively and fund. Love the porch. Food is good and reasonably, service could use some help, but mostly due to the fact that it was supper business during happy hour. That being said we got a table right away outside, but I feel we luckily, and would make reseravation in the future.

Love love LOVE this restaurant! I was hesitant at first...walking past the place after a Nuggets game last week, it looked a little bit pretentious, and the crowd was definitely...older. HOWEVER, I found myself there last night for happy hour after the epic disaster that was Ambria (please read both of my reviews before choosing this 'fine' dining establishment). I sat in the bar and ordered a glass of red wine. For a $5 Cabernet, I was pretty impressed (not that I am a wine snob, but I'd like to think that I can tell the difference between 'tasty', and 'not tasty'). My friend and I split the tuna tartare and the fromage pizza. We both ordered little 1400 burgers also. Everything was amazing, and we ended up with more than enough food for the two of us. The service was impecable, and I appreciated the recommendations from our server (especially when it came to the veggie plate that we almost ordered, but didn't, when we found out that dipping sauces no longer accompanied the veggies). Slightly off the beaten path, but worth the extra block or two walk if you're looking for a chill place with a great menu and good service. The scene in the bar is not bad either...there's definitely something for everyone.

Stopped in last night around 9 for a small bite and some wine at the bar. I ordered the octopus and mussells, which came out way too buttery for the dish or my taste. The bartender immediately took it back and let me re-order even though the kitchen had just closed. The sous chef ended up coming out with a complimentary scallop entree in addition to the spot prawns that I ordered. The scallops were amazing. They also brought us out the bread pudding for dessert. This honestly went above and beyond anything that I expected. It was obvious how much their customers mean to them. Thank you Coohills - I will definitely be back.

It was a slow Saturday dinner service when we sat on the patio. The food had so much potential but didn't quite satisfy the way I was hopping. My husband is very allergic to mushrooms and we inquired about the ingredients of a dish. The server assured us (after talking to the staff) that it would be made sans mushrooms. However, when presented to him it had the offending fungus. It was quickly remedied. The ambiance of the restaurant was very appealing.

MEH. My husband is a concierge, so we get to try most restraunsts in Denver and I was really not impressed with Coohills. The service was okay, our server was nice enough, but pretty much everyone on the staff looked annoyed that we had brought our 2 year old son and we needed a high chair (parents gotta eat too you know!). We We had a crab cake appetizer that was absolutely AMAZING but that was the best part of the meal. I ordered scallops, which were arounf $30, and was suprised when they brought it out and there were literally three scallops on the plate. (I understand seafood is expensive but come on, that's a little but too much). So, to sum it up.....MEH. Two entrees, one appetizer, one glass of wine and one beer...For a hundred dollar meal there are soooo many better places in Denver.

Came with a group and we shared several appetizers. All of them were outstanding. Had fish for main course. It was very good but not necessarily remarkable. Wine list on the iPad is useless, very little utility in being able to select wine. I would go back if someone else picked it but doubt I would choose it on my own.

I work in the same building in which Coohills is located, so it's a given I've visited several times. So far, I'm enjoying having it so close. First off, their version of "cheesy bread" (Melted Flat Bread) as a starter is not to be overlooked. It is delicious. Subtlely crisp on the outside and perfectly chewy inside, filled with gooey melted tallegio and ricotta and sparingly drizzled with cracked black pepper oil, it's fantastic with a chilled glass of house white at the end of a long work week. Happy hour is from 2:30-6:30pm M-F and visiting during this time is well worth it. A generous serving of the aforementioned appetizer, along with two glasses of house vino (x2 people for a total of 4 drinks), will set you back less than $30, including the tip. Top-shelf mixed drinks and house red or white are $4 during happy hour. Select beers are $3. Sounds like a winner to me. The crevette provencal pizza, brick oven baked and served on a wooden cutting board, is one of my favorite entrees. It's slightly pricey at $14 ($9 during happy hour), but delicious and satisfying. The shrimp are always just right; never chewy or undercooked. The crust is thin and crispy and the sauce never overpowers. A friend recently had the fall veggie burger and wasn't as happy. She ate about half before she couldn't look at it again (the main reason for the 4-star rating). They obviously incorporate beets, as the color of the burger was an unappetizing red color. She didn't mind the beet addition - perhaps it was just a little too much. I was a little surprised since my previous visits with friends drew nothing but praise. I could go on and on about the various meals I've had, ranging from unique and amazing to just okay and kinda bland, but rest assured I am thrilled to have such a great place so conveniently located for after-hours libations. Conversely, the location wouldn't typically be considered ideal for car commuters, especially for parking. The main entrance is about a block's walk from the nearest parking lot. Valet is available, but it's truthfully unnecessary. Once you reach the restaurant, the views are beautiful. It is tidily nestled immediately adjacent to the Cherry Creek bike path and is directly across Speer from the Pepsi Center and the Auraria campus. You're greeted by an intimate outdoor area to your left as you reach the entrance, complete with seating and a modern outdoor fireplace. It will be a nice place to relax on a summer's eve. Inside, the ambience is impeccable with dimmed lighting, the lovely clammer of glasses being toasted, rich dark woods, exposed industrial ceilings and contemporary artwork. Staff are friendly and attentive, although some of the waiters tend to hover when the place is not as crowded. I like having a full glass, but refilling after a few sips is generally uncommon and a little annoying. Stop by Coohills sometime and check it out for yourself. It's a design DREAM and the food is great, too. Understand that it's a relatively new restaurant (only two months open), so be patient and enjoy your time. The menu choices won't be for everyone, but the wine will be.

Decent food, good location and OK portions. But OH.MY.GOD. the service was awful. Slooooowwww. We were one of 10 other tables so it wasn't packed. But we had to ask several times for bread, we had to ask to order our main course and everything was ill-timed. I hope they get a new wait staff.

Close to the Pepsi Center for an Avs game. Beautiful decor and attentive service. The fish daily special was a hit with my wife and the pork tenderloin was outstnding. Pricey, $150 for two with a salad, entree and glass of wine.

I've visited this restaurant a few times now and stand by this 5-star rating. Each time the service has been impeccable. We made a reservation and were running a little late due to traffic, but they happily accommodated us by pushing the reservation back (Sat night too). The wine list is stellar (plus, it changes frequently so they bring you the latest on an iPad so it's fun to play on that and read more about each of the wines). We also asked for a cocktail, Coohills' take on a Moscow Mule called the Goodnight Ginger, that is no longer on the bar menu. Our waitress personally made the drink since she said it's one of her favorites and she's happy to make it despite being off menu. It is a delicious drink! My friend blogged about it in case you'd like a look and the ingredients:http://bit.ly/vVjZaa. The food was delicious and being a big pate fan, I highly recommend the pate sampler to share with your table. The pizzas are also great for sharing. The environment is beautiful--simple, clean contemporary design; set up wonderfully for small or large group socializing, big windows for lots of natural light and great view just off Speer Bvld and Wewatta St. making it an ideal pre-Avs/Nuggets/Mammoth/concert drinks/eatery spot. Highly recommend Coohills. I will be back soon!

I have had the pleasure of going to Coohills twice now and both times I have had great experiences. The first time I went was for a happy hour with co-workers and the second was for dinner. Their toasted garlic cauliflower grits is possibly my favorite side-dish of all time. I could eat that with any meal of the day. Their bread is also fantastic and that extends to the dough they use for the flatbreads and the pizzas as well. The night I went for dinner they had a beef carpaccio dish for an appetizer and it was incredible. The food came out in a timely manner and everything that was supposed to be hot was hot. The service was friendly and prompt and the atmosphere was extremely pleasant. The decor is beautiful and there is no issue of overcrowding or cramped seating which is something to be valued. I look forward to my next dining experience at Coohills!

I have had both a bar experience and dinner at this great new restaurant and loved both! Their bar is sleek and modern, yet warm and casual enough to grab a drink after work or before a big night out. The bar staff was very knowledgable, friendly and very willing to teach me about their extensive wine and drink menu! (Try the ginger drink) The dinner menu was surprisingly affordable for the quality and creativity. Both the manager, waiter and owner stopped by our table and were very willing to please with each course! My meal from soup to dessert was perfect and my friends' steaks were cooked to perfection! I would reccomend this place for a girls night out, dinner with visiting family, or a great date place!

Ugh....I don't get it. Customer service is not their forte. Went in there to try it since it was new and left shortly after arriving eating elsewhere in the neighborhood. Place was mostly empty and decided to sit at the bar. The bartender provided us with the bar menu which was very limited. I asked if we could get the full menu. His response was that he cannot serve the full menu at the bar. As we looked around, the bar was empty as was much of the restaurant. We asked if he could ask the manager and were promptly told that direction came from the manager. As we were leaving, we asked the manager if we could get the full menu at the bar and were told as long as we moved to a booth. No desire to keep the customer, only focus on the rules. He was fine with us leaving, instead of serving us in a restaurant that was DEAD. I'm sure there are reasons why they have this rule, but they may want to become more picky after they generate a following which will be difficult enough in a restaurant that is in a horrible location. Won't recommend to anybody. My belief is that their attitude will be their demise.
