If you like jax, then you'll like this place! The shrimp is great, the fries are great, good beer selection.

Loved our dinner here! We had the New England Chowder in sourdough bread bowls....so yummy! For dessert we had the cherry bread pudding and considered licking the plate it was so good. Awesome ambience as well, it feels like a cute beach cottage; wonderful departure from the hustle an bustle of Denver.

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining here on their opening night- and everything was perfect! First the food: West Coast Oysters, Hawaiian Poke, Baked Calamari, Crab Cakes and BBQ Shrimp: Each one was fantastic and something I would order again- but having access to excellent oysters in Denver is definitely what stands out to me. Many smaller shareable plates- which was great for trying a variety. Great selection of beer (served in a frosty glass) and cocktails. The service was outstanding- friendly, extremely knowledgable and no lingering dirty plates. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Can't wait to go back!!

I love that a place like this is in the hood now! Affordable delicious seafood in an adorable quaint atmosphere!? Love it! Love supporting local business and the staff seems really happy and attentive. Will be back, often!

Overall it was a nice experience. We ordered the spicy and traditional clam chowders, the fried calamari, and the Mexican bbq shrimp. Everything was very solid, and the bbq shrimp was outstanding. I would advise people stay away from ordering the chowder in a bread bowl, as it is a very small bowl that holds little soup and you are charged $9.50 for it. Otherwise, no complaints! The waitstaff was extremely pleasant and I thought the atmosphere was cute. We will definitely return to try more of the menu.

This restaurant is fantastic! I love seafood and I feel in Colorado it's hard to find. There chowders are amazing and they always have different specials on the menu. The owner also makes a point to stop by your table and greet you. Definitely check this place out the next you are on Broadway.

As soon as I walked into the restaurant I felt like part of the family. Granted I know the Stein's but had not seen them in over a year and was welcomed with open arms and an open kitchen. My friend and I visited the Chowder Room on Friday night for a few cocktails and appetizers. Anything off the cocktail menu is worth while and the chowder sampler is divine. Presentation, freshness and customer service is on-point. A true gem in Denver.

My BF and I have been to the Chowder Room multiple times. We've brought friends a few different times, and it was a hit every time. The service has been on point every time we've been there, and the food is always delicious. We have our favorites/regular dishes, but we've also enjoyed every special that we've tried. They haven't been around for long, but on a cold day I already find myself craving their clam chowder. The original is perfect, and their chowder of the day is often delicious as well, if not a bit different/experimental (which is good). Every time we go, we HAVE to order the Mexican barbeque shrimp. We've started ordering extra bread to go with it, because the sauce is one of the best things we've tasted.

Tonight was our first visit and we will definitely be back. The food was good and the staff was super friendly and attentive. I am excited to have a good, reasonably priced seafood restaurant in Denver! This kind of place was much needed!

What a find! Four of us tried this last Friday night and hit happy hour. We are all travelers and love to eat. We ate our way around the menu not only the happy hour menu but regular menu as well. All items were very good and prepared very well! We started with a couple dozen oysters on the half, some from pacific coast and some from new Zealand (yes new Zealand!) And they were excellent! Also had ceviche, steamed shrimp, po boy sliders, mahi sliders, crab cakes, fried clams, clam chowder and chowder of the day. We loved all of it. Also, had cocktails and wine. The prices are reasonable, staff is excellent. Zane was our waiter and he was very good. We met the owners, Carrie and Matt. Carrie works the front as hostess and was friendly and attentive. Matt is the chef and we chatted with his as well. If you are a seafood lover, get in there and try this gem...you will love it. Ciao!

We are visiting our dear friend who lives a couple blocks away so we walked over to try it out. Our server Nathan could not have been better. He was very attentive and his suggestions were perfect. The vegan curry chowder was the best chowder any of us have ever had. The poke and the ceviche were very good. The clam strips were heavenly and the crab cake was delicious with mostly crab and very little bread crumbs. The bbq shrimp were to die for, so flavorful. I guess the bottom line is we can't wait to go back.

This place is delicious! I have never really been into seafood and this restaurant is amazing! The food is 100% delicious. Their beer menu is very amazing,a lot of craft and micro brews. The staff is very friendly and informed on their seafood.

This place is so great. I've been here twice and have seen who I believe is the owner twice. She is incredibly nice and friendly and even remembered me the 2nd time I came in. The food is so good, the New England clam chowder bread bowl is fantastic, the BBQ shrimp was great, the po boy was excellent. I look forward to returning a 3rd time soon! Can't wait for the patio to open.

I sure hope the location doesn't make you think twice!!! WE read the Denver post article and decided to try the Chowder Room and so glad we did!!!! The food was excellent - in fact everything we tried we would have again. We started with the mussel special and they were so tender and they were huge - the value for the money was incredible. wE then shared a bunch of plates: the calamari (it was good but the only thing that was not a stand out) then the poke - it had a re al bit to it and was relish...the red chowder had so much flavor and the best of the night was the BBQ spicy shrimp - we were drinking the sauce! Honestly, please please do not hesitate to go if you are thinking about it! PS - Sean was our server and he was so great and helpful. The service and the feeling from everyone in the place was so warm and the attention we got was A+. Thanks for giving Denver another great place to go! We will be back very soon but guessing we will have to wait a long time to get a seat next time as soon as everyone realizes what a great place you have :-) Karen, Jim, Tim and Beth

Pretty dang good and great service. Thanks Natlia. The clam chowder was the best I've had, tasty but not Greasy calamari, delicious crab cakes. A great addition to the neighborhood!

We had New England and Delaware chowder, fried shrimp, a crab cake, and the spinach. All were excellent, as was the service. Can't wait to return!

Four of us had lunch here today. Our aim was for chowder. Three had the triple sample, one a cup of white. One had cod sandwich, one the red, saucy calamari, one the salad Niçoise. All and all. The food was very nicely cooked, tasted terrific, presented well. The staff was quite pleasant and very friendly. The atmosphere was definitely nautical, but not too cutesy, just right. The only complaint is that the "cup" of chowder was a scant half cup in portion. We will definitely return.

I love this place! Last night was my second time there and we ordered food like we were food critics. I had the crab cake (best EVER!), clam chowder (fabulous), and I didn't get them but they had a full pound of King crab for $31.95. The strawberry shortcake was home made and divine!

The only thing I found extraordinary about this place was the price. Sorry, this small Restaurant on S. Broadway just does not meet my expectations of a fine culinary dining experience. If they plan to succeed, they really need to work on the portions, and pricing of their menu. Food quality was average at a 5 star price. Waitstaff was pleasant.

Cute place! I live in the neighborhood and was happy to see this space open. They did a great job with the interior...its nautical and whimsy and fun. I ordered take out...the chowder sampler and the chicken sandwich. Both were excellent and I will be back!!!

What a nice and cozy little place, went there for the first time after some of my friends recommend it, chowder was perfect and the cod sandwich was wonderful! I love to support small business, it is a little pricey, but again, is a small business ....I will defiantly comeback very soon!!

I'm waffling between a three and a four so I'm gonna go with four. Service: Our server was very friendly, if perhaps a little inexperienced and a trifle ditzy. When we asked about the special on the sandwich board out front, he started to tell us about the sandwiches they have on the menu...lol. But he was attentive and peppy, but could stand to learn the menu a little better. Atmosphere: you can tell the owner took great care to make this little retail space have some character. Quaint nautical theme, very clean, and love what they did to the ceiling to add a little something extra. It would help if they lit up their exterior signage though. We were walking past on the other side of the street and my bf who has great eyes said lets go look at the chowder room and when I looked across the street I couldn't tell what he was talking about because I couldn't see a sign for it anywhere. My eyes aren't terrible but a little lighting would go a long way, I think. Menu is an a la carte style which kinda threw me off at first. I think it'd be beneficial if they put together a few entrée style meals with sides included. It would also be helpful if there were some better descriptions for some of the items, in particular the dessert and the calamari (aqua plaza I think it was) we tried to get a description out of our waiter but he came up kinda short in being able to convey exactly what we'd be getting. We ordered it aqua plazza anyway and were happy with the dish, but I think you should either have a good description on the menu or servers who are able to explain the dish adequately. Overall we had a very pleasant experience. Very clean and earnest.

This place is new and has wonderful staff and seafood. Unique dishes and comfy atmosphere. It is about a mile from our place and well worth the walk. Thanks Heather for fabulous aervice. Sourdough bread soup bowls are very good.

Let's give it up for the local folks starting their own restaurant and not giving our money to a chain or corporation! Everything was delicious service excellent and given they are only 4 months old this place like good wine will get better with time. It's good now and a great option to other Denver options - worth the trip and experience - we will be back as chef grows in role so shall our palette - well done chowder room we will see you again! :D

There was 5 of us and ordered about 10 different things on the menu. Overall the food was great. A little disappointed you had to pay for bread and butter especially for such a small portion. We ordered the mussels and BBQ shrimp and you have to have bread to sop up all the juicy goodness. We did the 3 portion tasting of the chowders and all were pretty excellent. Also thought the portion of poke was pretty minimal. There was probably only 5 pieces of tuna barely enough for a couple to share. I think they're torn between being an awesome seafood diner vs a sit down nice restaurant.

First of all, I am not an employee. Second, both my husband and I are chefs in Boulder. That was the best shrimp po boy I've had, incl. NEW Orleans and New England . But a po boy can be easy to master, however a good seafood stock is not so easy and his chowder is bar none. Even the show string fries had finesse. The oysyers, a little pricey, were great... really great, but stick to the items you can get elsewhere. Also , the po boy doesn't chince on the shrimp. Nor is it drowning in butter. Good ceaser as well and super good sercice.

The Chowder Room is a lovely and delicious dining experience that I would certainly recommend. It's clear that they're still getting off the ground (the atmosphere is a bit lacking), but the food and service were quite excellent. The price was very reasonable as well. The only reason they elude five stars is because of the underdeveloped atmosphere and because the wait staff seemed to be hovering and chatting in the dining area. On all other counts, it was excellent and enjoyable, and they truly care about your dining experience!

Decent joint. I like the atmosphere and communal table in the center of the room and the decor was good but verging on too kitschy. I had the Mexican shrimp bisque, great flavor but lacking in shrimp and too watery for a classic bisque. My buddy had the traditional chowder and it was better. My main issue with the soups was the spoon. Why no soup spoon?? The poke was amazing and the server was pleasant. I'll give it a second try but if those soups aren't dialed in that's it.
