I purchased a Groupon for a dozen cupcakes. The cupcakes at King Soopers would have been better! They only decorated with white frosting with a few sprinkles and the yellow, marble and coconut cupcakes were almost indistinguishable! The marble had a few spots of chocolate so we could tell those apart but the coconut and yellow cupcakes looked identical. The sales clerk couldn't even tell them apart. She said the coconut ones were lighter. Not true. What a waste of money. Don't even bother.

Just purchased a small cake for valentine's day and it was delicious. I didn't order ahead of time, but was so happy when there was one available. It was a cute heart shape, a great price and nicely decorated. The strawberry filling was fantastic and my husband and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

I was so excited for my cake, I've had Cake's by Karen samples back in the day looking for wedding cake and thought it was amazing, but their prices were way more expensive then Das Meyer. So when I saw the Groupon just 2 weeks prior to my 2 year anniversary I jumped on it! Ordered a lemon poppy seed raspberry cake w/ buttercream and was ready to get my mind blown in cake awesomeness. Sadly, the cake was a bit dry, not very lemon and a bit boring tasting... compared to the sample I had 2 years ago and Das Meyer the cake was just meh. Which was super sad, b/c I paid $25 (w/ Groupon and extra fee) for a meh cake, when I could have gone to Das for the exact same amount and got wow (except not even close to Arvada anymore) or gone to Whole Foods and got yum. The frosting was super light and tasted a bit bland, and I'm not a frosting gal...but I do need some. I'll of course not waste the cake, b/c I love cake, but I probably won't be calling them up for future anniversaries. Sorry Cakes by Karen, I really did think I was going to love you and have this 5 star blown away review. :( (upon review of 3 vs 2, I had to go w/ 2..I just couldn't in good conscience do 3)

I bought a groupon for Cakes By Karen because my daughter's birthday was coming up and thought it would be a great time to try their bakery as I was thinking on using them for my sweety's birthday cake. (And he takes cakes very seriously) I was totally disappointed that first of all they got my order wrong. I ordered 6 marble and 6 yellow and they gave me 6 white and 6 chocolate!!!! To top it off the frosting was intensely way too sweet and the cupcakes were so dry I should have just bought a Betty Crocker box mix and made them myself. I'm very disappointed because I was so excited to give my daughter special cupcakes for her birthday and she didn't like them either. I don't know if it was because I had a groupon or if they were WEEK old cupcakes for sale, but they were NOT up to par and I am thankful that I didn't pay full price for such a bad product. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Their dimensional cakes are amazing! I was blown away by the details in the decorating now on 3 different orders. Just need to realize they will try to get you to buy a larger cake than you might need but most bakeries have similar sales tactic. Just order only what you think you need and enjoy!
