I am usually made to feel like the worst human ever when I go to a restaurant and use a restaurant.com voucher... But not at Bar Red! We were welcomed with open arms and treated like all other patrons in the place. What a great feeling! Amazing customer service, good happy hour deals (that we were able to take advantage of even though we were using a voucher- again great customer service), and really good quality food makes me want to come back to this place every time I visit Denver! For the food- we got the caprese appetizer. The fresh mozzarella was out of this world- and I have lived in Italy and the one at Bar Red ranks high on the list due to the mozzarella. The meatballs and salmon were also delicious!

Rio the bartender is amazing. I had some pretty great drinks too.

I dropped by during "happy hour" after work in order to check the time of the upcoming open mic that night. The place was completely empty, except for the bartender, who refused to greet me in any way and stared me down unsmilingly as I walked up to the bar. When I asked about the open mic, the bartender was very reluctant to give me any info, and seem weirded out about the prospect of me actually playing an instrument. I returned later at the time appointed for the open mic, only to find the place nearly empty (there were two whole people now), the PA for the open mic still not set up, and no one there to play. The two stars are for the appearance of the place, which is really cool. Too bad the service was so unfriendly. Maybe if I'd been a hot girl I would have been treated like a customer.

Wow...What an amazing place on Colfax. I "yelped" interesting dinner places in the Central Biz District...and Bar Red came up. Wasn't sure the reviews would live up to the actual place...but, did they ever! The cocktails were some of the best I"ve ever had -- the Marg and Mohitos were fantastic. Great italian food and...lovely and attentive waitress. Plus, at the end of dinner, our gal came over and said she overhead that our dinner was a graduation celebration...the bartender sent us these outrageous 1920 cream shot things with a raspberry couli. Check this place out! So much better than anything on the 16 Street Mall!

Great atmosphere, walking distance to many locations. Food is amazing! Live music makes for a great date night or just out with friends! A must see place. Staff is attentive and has many recommendations. Will be back for sure!! Must see downstairs (best kept secret). Relaxing place to unwind at the end of the week or whenever.

Nice atmosphere, especially downstairs. The menu wasn't particularly exciting, but everyone in my group was able to find something to enjoy. Most of the portions were on the smaller side, other than the flatbreads. That's definitely the way to go if you want the most bang for your buck, Our waitress was very friendly, but there were a few timing issues, such as repeatedly bringing out 3 of 4 drinks, and then having to wait awhile for the rest of our order. There was also a manager, I believe, that kept checking up on us, which felt smothering rather than attentive. I'd definitely come back for happy hour.

This place is a great time when they have Steve jamming out. It's pretty loud but this is one night a month and worth going. The Moscow Mules are delicious and the wine is a generous pour. We will be back

Cocktails are amazing! Food is well executed and delicious. Comfy atmosphere, cool tunes, great chef, and very friendly servers. Worth a few blocks walk to this civic center gem.

Our server was very nice, that's the only good thing I'll say about this place. It was horrible food. I usually trust the yelp reviews but this one definitely failed me. Horrible. Would never eat here again. The one star is because of how nice the server was, although his actual service was not great either. Food was cold and took forever. Just horrible.

Very classy urban feel - can join others in main bar area - or enjoy the private downstairs space - nice to have options depending on the dynamics of your evening. Craft cocktails excellent - and nicest owners that keep an eye on your needs without being intrusive. Great international city vibe with music - more hip/cool the later the evening.

Here, again! Can't get enough!! Saturday night, in the lounge downstairs, comfortable leather couches is probably the best thing ever! I don't usually like to bother a bartender with a mojito, but when I do Anjlo makes a mean strawberry mojito. Thank you, Bar Red for being you. Humans that love what you do. With joy and craft. This place has personality and can back it up!

Awesome place! The food and the drinks were really good and the bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable. Great neighborhood bar that is probably easily missed but it's definitely worth stopping in. There is an upstairs and a downstairs area (with a fireplace) and plenty of areas to sit and chat with friends, or hang out by the fireplace and relax with a drink.

Happened upon a restaurant.com certificate for this place and went for it. This was a wonderful decision. We came in for early dinner/happy hour right at opening on a weeknight, and had the place to ourselves during our entire stay. This has to be due to the exact location of the place, because the service, food, and drinks are excellent. More on the location later, let's get down to the good stuff. The signature cocktail list is creative but nothing is cheaper than $10, and while the happy hour menu doesn't include discounts on them, there are plenty other great options, like $4 well drinks. From the signature list we had the mojito and the margarita, both delicious and heavy on fresh strawberries. They have two different food menus, a bar food menu with more of simple american fare (the appetizers on this menu are only $5 each during happy hour), and then the main menu that is italian inspired. We chose the spinach and artichoke dip from the bar menu and the Prosciutto di Parma and Egg from the main menu. The dip was great, probably some of the better I've had at a restaurant- yeah, I know it's just some dang gringo dip but this version happened to be pretty awesome. The prosciutto and egg dish was awesome, the asparagus underneath cooked perfectly and the eggs atop a superb sunny side. After eating more than my fair share of that yummy dip, I was getting a bit full, so I chose the lamb skewers with the white bean salad. My friend chose the lasagna. When our plates were presented to us I immediately noticed how dark the lamb pieces were in my dish, but maybe it was just dark in the bar...turns out no. When I attempted to remove a piece from the skewer there was no budge, so like a little savage I tried to bite, no, naw them off, nope nope nope. They were rock hard, all three of them. While I waited for our server to come check on us, I had to dig into the pretty white bean insalate that accompanied those rock hard things. My mouth got seriously excited, such a nice punch of savory and sweet that worked well with the texture of the beans. Our server did not hesitate when I mentioned the lamb, she graciously took my plate away and let me know that she would inform the chef. My friend also requested a side of marinara to add to his already half eaten lasagna, and to our surprise, he was brought a brand new batch of saucy lasagna! The head chef came out to present me with a brand new version of my original dish, explaining there was a little training session in the kitchen and that this was what I should have received the first time around. He apologized and thanked us for the feedback and assured that our happiness was top priority. The skewers were not only cooked the right way, but were much larger and full of good flavor-and I was happy to have more of those beans to take home with me. After all the attention given to our entrees, our server comped some drinks and even gave us a percentage off of our bill, holy moly this place has seriously great service! I can't wait to come back to enjoy it all over again. One last thing, the location. It literally is the definition of a hidden gem. If you're going west on Colfax, it is literally on the right just past Tremont and across from the Lindsey-Flanigan courthouse-and right before the Diamond Cabaret. They serve lunch, and I am assume there is a heftier crowd given the close proximity of what is across the street. The downstairs would make an excellent private party space, wonderfully lit with nice decor and clean restrooms.

Arrived here last week to meet several friends for happy hour. A local band played in the Conner up stairs which made for a relaxing and entertaining time. The HR house red wine was quite good especially being priced at $4/ glass. I only had wine, but my friends said the food was excellent and based on the presentation of the dishes I am looking forward to exploring the menu in the future. The staff was very friendly and attentive to everyone in our party. I actually ended up leaving my credit card there by accident. Our bartender knew through conversation exactly where our group was headed next. When we arrived at the second destination in LoDo, the bartender at BAR RED had called there and asked the staff to inform me that they still had my card. Now that is going above and beyond. Thank you Bar Red for being a class act!! You won my vote.

An $11 drink during happy hour? No thanks. The best bartenders in the city barely charge that much.

Let's start with the one thing that really bothers me about this place: the name. This is the stupidest name for a bar! I read it and see Ba Red. Or bared, with a capital R for fun? No, reading your website, and even on your menu, I think, I realized it's supposed to be pronounced Bar Red. If you wanted to name your bar, Bar Red, then name it that! Or BarRed. Your website is even BarRedDenver.com . Seriously if you have to teach us how to say it, then you did it wrong. Ok, rant over. On to the place...it's a very nice space, definitely new and modern feeling. They have a pretty small bar area and upstairs seating area, and then another seating area downstairs where the bathroom is. But, it's still seems pretty small total. Nice high top tables upstairs, and more comfy and intimate seating downstairs. Fun fact: the door to the wine area downstairs is original and leads to an underground tunnel that used to run from this building (formerly a brothel) to The Brown Palace. Happy hour is from 4-7, and is really only ok. $6 "specialty" cocktails but I can think of 5 other places downtown off the top of my head with way more creative cocktail menus and HH prices are only $4 or $5- and don't try to tell me it's because the liquor is better. They also have $4 wells but the specialty cocktails aren't that much more special. I guess I was disappointed by the selection. They only have 4 food items on the HH menu, and while cheap they're basic like garlic bread. Apparently they also are trying to serve the breakfast and lunch needs of local businesses during the day, and then they transition to a hip bar at night...huh? Service was really good. Makeda was super sweet and Thomasz seemed nice and genuine as well. But, then again, we were the only ones there at 6pm in the middle of the week. The location is kind of crummy, though it is across from the courthouse so if you need to be there I guess it's convenient. All in all, I'm mostly confused by this place's obvious identity crisis. For some reason, as much as I wanted to like it, I just can't but I do with them much luck. Unfortunately, I really can't say I'd ever have a reason to come back.

I love this place! The atmosphere can't be beat and the $5 food menu and an array of amazing, unique cocktails make Bar Red my favorite place to go for happy hour! I visit Bar Red frequently on Fridays to unwind after the work week and I have received nothing but impeccable service, great food, and delicious drinks. My favorites are the Pomegranate Martini and Spinach and Artichoke Dip; I highly recommend both!

Love, love, love this place! Terrible location :( I feel like a lot of people miss out on such a great place because of it location. My husband and I have driven past it many times after work and decided to grab a bite here between shifts. The atmosphere is relaxing and classy. The food is so delicious and the service wasn't bad. Service could have been a bit better, but I also feel like its easy to be more laxed when it's slow. We were the only diners there outside of a few at the bar. It got better near the end of our meal and was gracefully saved! We love share plates and small plates! Italian flat bread, yum. The Mediterranean platter, great starter. The wings, cooked perfectly. Overall we were very satisfied and can't wait to return for another lunch date, late night desserts, all of the above!

Great little place hidden downtown! The atmosphere is nice, large bar with plenty of space both up and downstairs. It seemed like they could host private parties below. The drink menu was awesome, lots of original ones to try. The service was also really great. I didn't get to try the menu but the people around me that were eating looked happy with their dishes and I plan to try something next time. Oh and they have live music every night which is rare in Denver.

Ahhhh yeah ....you gotta check out this place. Great custom cocktails by a lovely gent mixologist Thomas. The hot wild lady is a lovely summer drink with cucumber. This place is a winner.

Called at 1:35am to ask if the kitchen is still open. Online it says open until close. When they picked up the phone, I asked "is your kitchen still open?" They replied, "no, it's 1:45," and hung up on me. How rude. I am so glad I didnt give this plae my money. Vegetarians of Denver, go somewhere else.

Great bartender, he made me a custom cucumber chile cocktail that was yummy! Food was good. Loved the atmosphere and chill, friendly staff. Totally going there again.

The funk music doesn't make sense with the fireplace feel and the shitty carpet. The drinks are not good enough to be eleven dollars, the basement doesn't feel accommodating, especially the windows showcasing the cement. The rotating lights add nothing, the sports channels amongst the red lighting is confusing. Now live acoustic music competes with funk. What are you?

I've been here a few times and each time their cocktails have been spot on! They have some really tasty happy hour delicacies too! The lighting is inviting and classy, staff is nice and knowledgable. Downstairs is also a hidden gem. Great new bar in Denver!

Stopped in for drinks and apps - at about 8:30 on a weeknight. Place was completely empty. Wine by the glass selection was surprisingly limited and apps where "Meh". Markets itself as Mediterranean, but the meatballs were bland and the antipasto was mediocre. Service was good, server was nice. I'd chalk it up to an off night.

This bar is in the middle of nowhere, which is the only downside. Drinks were very interesting and the food was made well. The music was loud but not too loud that you couldn't have a conversation. The staff were very nice and made sure to keep our glasses full.

This place is phenomenal! The atmosphere is laid back but with a touch of class. Not overwhelming loud and packed like places in LODO can be. Mixology drink are delectable and take you back to a time when cocktails were crafted! My favorite drink would be the Dark Crown. It's made from house made cherry bitters, whiskey and fresh basil. It's simply divine. The food is always amazing. I've had several entrees from the menu and have never been dissatisfied. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

Fantastic drinks, cool atmosphere, and phenomenal staff! It was a very slow night (during the week), but I can see the space being really cool and intimate on a Friday night. The Red Amsterdam was one of the best drinks I've ever had. The chef and bartender were so attentive and welcoming :)

I wanted to do something really special for my hubby, and threw a surprise birthday party here. The experience was amazing! The owner Zach is very friendly, and easygoing. The staff were great very friendly. The pastry chef Jackie made the most AMAZING and delicious two tier espresso ganache cake. The chefs made delicious flat bread pizza. They also have a mixologist on staff who made a very scrumptious birthday signature drink called cy21. The atmosphere downstairs was perfect! I'm definitely going back!! If your looking to throw a great party this is the spot!! I love that they were able to provide the drinks, food, and cake. p.s the icing on the cake was the price of it all. ;)

We came here after a crowded hectic 16th street experience . Our super sweet server, Rio recommended Martinis and dessert, the chocolate martini and beignets with dulce sauce were delicious. The live music and atmosphere were a great night cap for our date night.

I have seen the coming soon sign for months every time I leave court and head back to the office. When I saw that it was finally opened I had to check it out. Stopped in after leaving the office with some coworkers. Greeted by the bartender as we entered and the wait staff was very friendly as well. I ordered the Flat Iron Steak Sandwich which was great. The bread was very soft and fresh. The steak was top notch, will definitely be having that again. They have a great cocktail selection not too many beers on tap but had a good craft beer. Looking forward to my next visit and many more after that.

Top shelf wells make an awesome place to happy hour! Always order the oysters. Last time we had a party of 7 and they were sweet enough to hook us up with some great flatbreads. Mixology list is full of interesting flavors combinations. Great laid back bar with old school hip hop.

We were taken here to finish our drinks from cy steak house and it was much better than the steakhouse. It was classy, relaxed, affordable, and the staff was great. The steakhouse was to gangster/slezzy in a classy way. We will be returning.

Someone said the bald guy Thomas is supposed to be a good mixologist but I found him to be clueless in service aspects. Will ignore you for people he knows and full of himself as well. The rest of the staff was nice and professional.

My boyfriend and I went to baRed with a groupon and a thirst for whisky! We were not disappointed!! The dark crown was so smooth and refreshing, and the Manhattan was unique and flavorful. The real star was the aged cocktail the cardinal sin. Aged bourbon with hazelnut liquor is complex smooth and amazing on the rocks. The food great too!!

Truly a hidden gem. This place has the best Mac & cheese and oysters that I've had in Denver, hands down. The strawberry mojito was also delectable! Can't wait to go back!!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
