My husband is a super coffee snob, I'm not sure how that happened, I blame myself somehow. I like fancy teas, but him, he's all for the coffee. I've been hunting for something similar to this place for a few weeks now and Aviano came highly recommended from a friend. We were a little confused about where we needed to order from once we got there, but figured it out fairly quickly. The barista was helpful, in a detached, uber cool kind of way. The coffee was amazing! Even I liked it, and the tea was great too actually. On their Facebook they list which coffees they have every day, we're now besties. We plan on being at Aviano a LOT. So happy.

One of the smoothest, most well-balanced, and delicious coffee drinks I have ever had the privilege of consuming. The new location is still under some construction and is a bit rough around the edges. The linen closet sized restrooms were more like an afterthought than anything that was well-planned (no mirrors???). The concrete look of the interior may one day look edgy, but at this time it just seems cold and incomplete. But, this is really all just window dressing (of which they do not yet have much). What people come here for is the coffee. It took longer to get a drink after the order was placed than I expected. Yes, I know that is part of their process, and it does produce a superior brew. But, if one is in a "grab and go" mode, this would be rather inconvenient. So, if you have the time for a coffee you can really enjoy (although this place is not really comfortable enough to hang out in at this time) then this is the place for you.

Aviano prepares the best espresso drinks I've found in Colorado. They've won 3-4 prestigious "best of" awards to confirm that. They pour excellent latte art. The steamed milk is textured with silky micro foam. They take the time to thoroughly mix the drinks if you ask for flavors. They utilize Intelligentsia beans which are rated in the top 5 in every coffee article I've read about the subject. The beans are not over roasted, so the foundation of every drink is smooth before you add any other components. Other pluses: * Really nice staff (not excessively warm at first, but give them a few tries) * Beautiful industrial modern space * Pour over bar - each cup made individually * Great indie, modern rock, alternative music * Environmentally and politically moral source of beans

For serious coffee lovers only! So thrilled to have a coffee house serve intelligentsia in Denver. Only place to have the fabulous coffee in Denver. Posh spot and fab latte art.

Because, I dont have a skinny jeans, a fixie and a mustache, dont assume I dont know my coffee... I just moved from Seattle and have to say; if you are going to open a coffee shop in Cherry Creek, it is probably not a good idea to staff the joint with yuppie hating, elitist hipsters. The coffee quality, given the effort and the time, was watered down and without any flavor that would help me appreciate the characteristics or flavor. The attitude of the staff only made the experience less than enjoyable. Ill stick to Cafe Europa, Daz Bog or other, more comfortable, shops.

Pretentious, slow, trying too hard kind of place. Coffee does not live up.

I am on an eternal quest for the best coffee, and Aviano's is up there. The quality coffees here are always full and fresh, and the pour over prices are cheaper than the "premium" nonsense you get at Starbucks. With a cozy interior and quality patio furniture, it's easy to settle in here while you enjoy coffee, tea, espresso, etc... My only knock on this place is the pretension that comes with the neighborhood. It's coffee, albeit upscale coffee, and should always be casual.

They serve & sell Black Cat! That alone is worth Five Stars! ;)

  • Rick L.

My highest recommendation. This is the best coffee spot I've found in the Denver metro. The coffee is fantastic - completely blows Starbucks or any of the chains out of the water - and the staff really knows their stuff without sounding snooty. The only place I've found that I almost enjoyed as much is Coal Creek Coffee up in Laramie. Treat yourself and get whatever they're serving from the Chemex. It's not exactly $1 a cup, but you get what you pay for. After a few sips of this coffee I decided to buy a Chemex and bring it home.

Aviano is my favorite coffee shop in Cherry Creek North! The fact that they brew Intelligentsia coffee keeps me coming back for more every time I am in the neighborhood!

I'm not sure why people love this place so much. I've been a few times and have been underwhelmed each time. The hand poured coffee is honestly not that good. The regular brew at 'Bucks or Pete's is noticeably better. Hand poured coffee costs more, and if done right, should taste more like Philz (google it). Obviously I'm not crazy about this place and I would have a hard time recommending it to anyone. If you need a good, decent price cup-o-joe just go to Petes down the street (butstayawayfromink!). Plus, who wants to hang out with a bunch of Cherry Creek Chachis anyway?

  • Jill S.

LOVE this coffee spot. I work down the street and need a break everyday around 2pm on the dot. This is not only perfect walking distance, but also delicious coffee! As an iced black coffee drinker, I'm used to the hard stuff, but that doesn't mean it has to be so cold and bitter! Aviano's is cold yes, but the flavor is never bitter and always the pick me up I need. Not to mention, they have a super cute patio and the boys that work there aren't bad either. Oh, and the large? 24oz. YEP.

Lordy forgive you if they make your drinks wrong. It must be your fault because, well, they serve Intelligentsia coffee, "the best coffee on the planet, " and they could never make a mistake... Neither their coffee nor their espresso, are the best in town. Corvus, Pablos, Kaladi Bros., and Coda are all superior, all can be enjoyed for less, and all can be found at coffee shops with friendlier and more responsive, customer service.

Finally found a great espresso cafe. One that takes pride in their espresso making and one where they actually know what a small macchiato or a long macchiato is. The presentation of coffee with the latte art and how they serve the espresso to you on a wooden board with a glass of water is a great touch. It's interesting because I noticed their coffee area resembles a bar more than a coffee shop. Which is cool. You'll understand if you have been there before. So the espresso....let's face it. A lot of places get it wrong. The coffee would be burnt, over extracted or they have no idea. Aviano has it down pat. Great aroma in the right size cup with great care taken. Best espresso I have had in Denver.

Great pour-over coffee bar, espresso drinks, and one of the best almond croissants I've ever had.

I was searching for a local shop that served Intelligensia coffee since it is one of my favorite national roasts and found Aviano. I was delighted when I called and the phone message informed me that they were opening that day. The coffee is amazing with chemex , coldbrewed and other fancy options. The layout if open and very cool with a good mix of the usual computer workers and people actually socializing which is rare to find at a coffee shop nowadays. I like the way workers dress behind the counter in a classical 1930's style with a tie and usually a mustache. Although this style seems to be a carbon copy of other coffee shops I have been to such as Stumptown Portland and NYC, I still appreciate the effort. I hear they will have more tables and outdoor seating. Aviano will definitely be my "day off" coffee shop.

As of 9-5-13 this location is closed for remodeling. Don't make a special trip like I did and get stranded on the sidewalk with no coffee.

Couldn't tell if baristas were real, functioning people or Civil War vets. The place looks like a hipster hospital and a single cup of coffee takes your waxed-mustache barista about 15 minutes to make, but damn is it good. Don't expect much hospitality or comfort, as the new location is within an empty, lonely, stale, concrete garage. But you know, "hipster" -- so it's cool (or not).

I love Aviano Coffee! This place is in the heart of Cherry Creek North and is usually always busy at any time of the day. I bought a 16oz cup of their India tea and it cost me 4 dollars and some odd cents. I think it's a little steep for a cup of tea, but it was great tea and I believe all of the tea they have is organic which is a plus. They claim to have handsome baristas, which for the most part is true. The one who was preparing my tea even winked at me while he asked me to meet him at the other side of the bar. Sexy.... HAHA! Anyhoot, the place is quaint, and there are a number of people who work in the area who work there and a few laptop users as well. It can get fairly loud sometimes but it's a pretty laid back place to have your beverage. I never get there in time to enjoy a large selection of pastries, but I hope to get to try one soon. They look delicious!

I absolutely love this place! My favorite coffee of all places and times. Everything is hand pressed and tastes like heaven in a cup. I loved the previous location but the new location will make you feel like you've stepped into NYC. Grab a cup of hand crafted goodness when you're in Cherry Creek!

Words can hardly express the negative experience I had at Aviano Coffee the other day. I recently opened an office 2 blocks away from the coffee shop and, still in need of setting up the office internet, stopped by to do some desperately needed work on the computer/phone. While in the middle of a phone call with a potential new client, a woman walked up to me and rudely interrupted my phone call by asking me what I wanted to drink. I was perplexed and surprised that someone would do this and simply covered the end of the phone while my client was speaking and whispered "I'm sorry, I'm on the phone" and then tried to return to my call. SHOCKINGLY, the woman became angry and, continuing to interrupt me in the middle of an important call, told me that patrons had to buy a cup of coffee in order to use the internet (something I did not know). At this point, I was in a state of complete disbelief. The woman I was speaking with on the phone (again, a potential new client) heard the disturbance and asked me if I needed to call her back. Embarrassed at this, I said yes and that I would call back as soon as possible. After hanging up, I turned to the clerk and expressed my disbelief and frustration. I was obviously upset but did not say anything inappropriate or profane. At this point, the clerk told me to leave. I then asked to speak to a manager. She responded by telling me to leave while walking away and saying she was going to call the police. I got up and followed her to the bar area and asked again to speak to a manager. At this point, she picked up the phone, told me to leave and dialed the police. I told her I'd gladly leave but I would like to speak to a manager first. She then told me that she was the manager (unlikely) so I said I'd like to speak to the owner. Her response: "so would I". Still refusing to give me any information, I decided to simply leave and come back some other time to, hopefully, speak to a manager or owner. The next day, I went back to talk to someone rational. When I entered the store I found another customer in an argument with a male clerk behind the counter - seriously, I'm not making this up. The customer left in disgust with the clerk sarcastically calling out loudly behind him "have a GREAT evening sir." I asked if I could get the contact information for the owner, which he was hesitant to do. So, I left my name and number with a request that the owner contact me. What happened instead? The police contacted me!! The woman from the day before had seen me from the back, took my information and called the cops! Needless to say, I spoke to the police and did not get in any trouble. Here's the kicker: according to the police, the woman who rudely interrupted my call, called me a moocher for "stealing" internet (left that out earlier) and called the police on me, is the owner. I still find this very hard to believe, but, at this point, I've wasted enough time and energy on it. After this yelp, I'm done with Aviano forever.

I almost crashed my car driving down 2nd Ave when I saw the Intelligentsia logo in the window. I had never noticed it before and apparently it has only been up for about 6 months but the coffee shop itself has been there for quite some time. Nice open space with plenty of tables and outside tables as well. Intelligentsia Dirty Chai...YES PLEASE

I had a business meeting here the other day. Seems like a nice little coffee shop, but it was extremely busy the day I was there. We had to grab some chairs and set them up by the counter in the corner. I tried the spicy chai that they have. It was very different from what you'd get at a Starbucks, but it was pretty good.

This. I was on a hunt for coffee in Denver that stood out above the rest. I found it in Aviano. Granted, at the time they were using coffee from another city-my favorite coffee roasting company in the country so far and it goes by the name of Intelligentsia-but that is part of what makes me love them after one short visit. They use Intelligentsia and know what they are doing with it. Other shops around the country use their coffee but have no idea what they have in their hands and treat it like Folgers. The skilled baristas at Aviano know what they have and respect it. Therefore their product is better than most. All this talk of another company, back to the review at hand. Aviano recently moved to a new location so the inside was very much still under construction. I have to say, to me, this gem of a shop stood out even amongst the construction chaos. It added a charm in my opinion. The only problem I had with it is that it was not as well publicized as it should have been so by some random happenstance, ie a Facebook comment, I discovered that they had changed locations and was able to reroute my plans right before I left the house. I had been snowed in the day before and missed my chance to go but there was no way I was missing it two days in a row. I was a little turned off by the upscale shopping district that the shop was located in but it was no big deal in the heart of it all. Plus I didn't even have time to look around the area so it could be much better than the snobbery that I'm expressing in this review. :) The baristas were extremely talented from what I could tell. Two of them are from KC like me so that instantly made me like them even more. The icing on the cake? They were playing the not very well-known band, Frightened Rabbit, which is one of my favorite bands of all time. The only way they would have impressed me more is if Zachary Levi or Yoda were there to hand me my coffee. (can we work on that before my next visit?) I perused their coffee selection and found a bag of their Intelligentsia dedicated 'Cherry Creek North' blend to take home with me as a souvenir while I waited for my pour over. Once home, I brewed this in my drip maker and had my dad try it. He has called me back twice from his home in Alabama asking me if I can help him buy some of them online! I seriously have it on my to-do list for the week to see if Aviano ships. They'll be shipping to Missouri and Alabama because there's no way I'm letting my dad have all the fun! And to think that I almost let the aftermath of a near-blizzard and the move to a new location keep me away. Thank you to Aviano for capping an already awesome self-guided beer/coffee of Denver tour. I have recommended this place to many of my coffee-loving friends in KC (one of them already knew of Aviano by name) and in Denver. I cannot wait until my next visit and look forward to seeing which Roaster you'll be featuring next and what the shop will look like when it's all said and done.

UPDATE: It's 8 months later, and I am back in Denver, and they still have not fixed the wifi situation. They really should remove "free Internet" from their profile. Absolutely the best coffee in Denver and as good as just about anywhere I have encountered lately. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is very light and open. Only one caveat: If you are looking for decent Internet to get some work done, this is not the place. For some reason, I have not been able to connect to their own Internet for months. You can get a couple of other local hotspots, but the service is very slow. So, you can do some limited Internet work; anything beyond that is frustrating. Update: They have assured me that this is going to be fixed.

The best coffee in Denver. While some reviewers have made disparaging comments about Aviano, very few have been brave enough to falsely claim that there is something wrong with the coffee. I am not a coffee connoisseur by any means, but I can appreciate the difference between the coffee here and at other shops. I enjoy the environment, the music is always good, and while the baristas may appear to some other yelpers to be "elitist hipsters," they are actually well educated professionals who have a passion for coffee and are willing to share their knowledge. Of course, I have never tried to tell them to make a drink that they have been trained to recognize as being of lesser quality. To be clear, if you are looking for a fast-food style coffee experience where the employees blankly stare into the distance and do whatever you want to their imported coffee beans, this may not be the place for you. They are protective of their product, because it is fantastic, and they present it with professionalism and care. If there is anything to complain about, it is the difficulty I now have when friends want to go to other coffee places like Leela's or Paris on the Platte, which suddenly seem vastly inferior.

The best coffee in Denver and the setting sends me to LA. I leave the house early and pass several Starbucks before going into work just to get their coffee, to sit and enjoy.

I was so happy to find Intelligentsia coffee in Denver! Intelligentsia coffee is delicious and I'd always pop in to buy a bag when I was in Chicago. I recommend their pour-over coffee and Black Cat espresso. The location is a little strange because there are hipsters working inside but it's located in the wealthy Cherry Creek area. There's metered street parking, so go on a Sunday and it's free! There's plenty of seating, and lots of seating outside as well.

Delicious espresso. The baristas were nice. Not above and beyond, but you know, hipster-nice. ;) I stopped in really quick between a bootcamp class and lunch, so I didn't check out their wifi or how it would be to get work done there. It's pretty small location so I don't think this would be the spot to go to hang out on your laptop; more like a spot to meet friends for a good latte and a chat.

I might have found my favorite coffee shop in Denver! As a "work-from-home"r, I frequently take my laptop to neighborhood cafes to stave off the feelings of isolation and claustrophobia that come with realizing you've been in your bathrobe for 12 straight hours. The Intelligentsia coffee they serve is quite good, and the baristas employ some nice touches, like pre-warming your mug with hot water so the coffee stays as hot as possible. As others have mentioned, they have signs all over the place warning you not to freeload; everyone sitting down must make a purchase, even if you're part of a larger group. But this seems fair to me, so I'm not bothered by it. And finally, Aviano offers by far the fastest internet connection I've found so far in Denver! For the über-geeks: 1,200 KB/s downstream, 120 KB/s upstream, 48ms ping to my VPN. w00t!

How can you go wrong with a coffee shop that uses intelligentsia. The baristas are friendly and do a great job at making the coffee as delicious as can be. I wish I could give 6 stars!

This is the coffee place I have been searching for since I moved to Denver. No, it's not hard to find; I just did not know it existed until a couple of weeks ago. They make coffee for coffee snobs! That doesn't mean the casual coffee consumer won't be pleased, it just means if you turn your nose up at 12oz cappuccinos you will be pleased when you come here. Their espresso is actually tasty! Their cold brew is like sweet, liquid crack, just like you wanted. Getting to Cherry Creek is generally a pain in the ass but it's well worth it for this brew.

    (5)
  • Eric Y.

A lovely cortado and a fantastic cup of Zirikana, Rwandan coffee brewed fresh through the pour over. It is nice to walk into a place and have them know exactly what you are asking for when you ask for a cortado. Serving Intelligentsia coffee automatically sets a bar high for a coffee shop and can be a hard reputation to live up to, Aviano does it very well. Of corse their are always improvements to be made for any business and every individual has their preferences but to judge a place strictly on your preferences and little nit picky annoyances, like the fact that they don't want to ruin a GREAT espresso by serving it to you in a paper togo cup or how they weren't playing your favorite "TOP 40" Lady Gaga mix on the radio, is absolutely ridiculous. PLEASE judge a place on how well they are doing what they are trying to do. I will be back to Aviano in the future.

Cherry Creek isn't really my 'hood but I love Intelligentsia coffee so we made the trip just for the drip. And it was worth it. The atmosphere seemed a little confused like they had recently switched owners or were clearing out stock. A menu would've been helpful but these are the smallest of details and if you want good coffee you're in for good coffee.

  • Joshua B.

I've only been here a few times, but I'll glad let them rape my wallet. The coffee is fantastic. I LOVE Intelligencia coffee! The place is really nice on the inside with solid wood tables, plugins, ect. (there are leather couches too) There are not that many people, so you can sit and study with out a problem. I think the two issue here would be parking (cherry creek street parking can suck) and hours, because, well for late night studying, there are places open later. BUT, it does stay open later than the other two nearby respectable coffee places, ink and Peets.

  • Michael P.

I feel like my wallet just got raped. Seriously. I was thinking last night, "Oh, I should go check out Aviano- heard its good" So.....I meander off to the fancy-shcmancy Cherry Creek North - which I love, except for parking is a frickin' nightmare - thankfully I went late enough in the evening that I didn't end up going completely crazy. Anyway, this is easy enough to find and its got its cute little corner storefront. I meander on it and casually walk past a sandwich-board type sign not even looking at because I already know what I want. I walk up- order a SMALL mocha (that is 12 oz mind you), the total........close to $5. Yeah, I know. Small mocha. Thats chocolate. Milk. Shot or two of espresso. Hence I consider raped. Also, I will input my two-cents about Wi-Fi. I think they have free wi-fi. I didn't ask. I'm one of those people that haaaates to ask for the password to wireless networks. They have a password. Why not post it near the register? I don't want to bother you for the damn password.

I was in the Denver area for business and had a half hour to kill before meeting a colleague. So I popped in here to have a quick cup of tea. Very cool place, nice decor, plenty of comfy seats, outdoor patio. It was full of people on laptops as pretty much every coffee house is these days - whatever happened to conversation :-( They have a wide variety of teas all beautifully presented. They serve Intelligensia coffee - not a coffee drinker, but I understand from friends that it's a tasty cup! Cool spot - nice change from the chain Buckstars places.

Aviano is a very Denver-esque coffee shop in the upscale 2nd Ave Cherry Creek district. The service is good, the prices are low, and the atmosphere is pretty relaxed. All of the joe is pour over, so be prepared to drink something a bit better than your average cup. They also offer a few baked goods, but do not expect anything too out of the ordinary. My $1 day-old almond croissant was alright. The daily special El salvador was sweet and smooth. It was really affordable at $2,50 a small. Great deal for PO joe, If you want something local and great for people watching, this joint is your go-to spot.

  • Manny R.

Very slow service at the counter and no menu board. Limited food options and what they had looked totally picked over. Four bucks for a large iced tea? Perhaps in their defense, they don't appear to be fully operational yet. That being said, why would you be open if you're not putting your best foot forward and best product for the public to enjoy?

Absurdly, I was so transfixed by Aviano's menu online when I saw the marbled espresso (love that) that it stuck in my brain and instead of ordering a drink, I ordered an iced espresso. The barista, bless her heart, just looked at me, confused. I did not even notice my mistake. She asked me if I wanted a drink, and I replied yes, still not realizing my mistake. Then she asked me what kind of drink I wanted, like a mocha or something, after which I noticed my stupid mistake. I am sure the whole coffee shop heard me, thinking I was some kind of coffee virgin. No, I promise you, I am a coffee slut. Come on now. I think it was the pulsating sunshine on my skin and my dying need for an iced drink that shrouded my prowess. Both the inside and the outside of the building are gorgeous. I went after the morning and lunch rush, so it was not crowded. They have both a down and upstairs seating area. The crowd inside looked a bit pretentious, but I can look past that because of the great service and GREAT coffee. It was strong and actually tasted like coffee, despite the chocolate flavoring. Aviano also uses the good kind of ice that you get at fancy hotels with the hold in the middle. You know the kind. I would recommend checking out their menu beforehand online because I did not see a full menu or prices (all reasonable). The pastries that were left looked tasty. I am sure there is more in the morning. There is also free Wi-Fi, and a couple of computers to use if you do not bring your own. I did not try out the internet, but there were a few people there with their laptops, and they looked pleased. I would recommend Aviano for your next coffee jaunt, and thank you kind-hearted barista for not laughing at me (at least until after I left).

I didn't really care that much about coffee, to be honest. Is it hot and black and caffeinated? Sounds good. And then I had Aviano and I realized how much Starbucks tastes like burnt gristle. The pourover at Aviano has zero acidity (stomach loves it) and actually tastes like something. I can't decipher flavors that well in coffee, but I can see what they mean. Good stuff. Sidenote: the baristas are absurdly hipster, and I don't think they're doing it ironically. They apparently work as bike mechanics in the afternoon and bartenders at Green Russell at night.

    (4)
  • Richard R.

You have to have it their way, and they are snotty and arrogant if you want it your own way. For example, though they brew each cup with its own drip filter, they will not give half caff, half decaf. They said it doesn't turn out well. They were really unpleasant about this. Prices are very high for plain coffee. While you can get a ceramic cup, they served me in paper without asking what I wanted. If you want attitude, you'll get it here.

I stopped by here recently with my wife for some iced coffee on a nice day. We were intrigued by the "Best Coffee" award from Westword and the fact that they serve Intelligentsia coffee, which is very good. So maybe we just ordered wrong, but their iced coffee left something to be desired. I put a tiny bit of cream in each of our cups, and they turned completely white. And of course, they just tasted like milk. For the price, the coffee definitely shouldn't have been that dilute. So, I'll maybe try them again for a latte when the weather cools off, but our experience was disappointing. We didn't even finish our coffee, we threw them out and then came home and made our own.

I love the prairie. Really, I do. But I've been crisscrossing Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska for two weeks, and while I have found plenty of corn, combines, barbeque, and Midwestern hospitality, I am like Ahab looking for the Great Whale in my search for a good espresso. No dice among these seas of wheat, folks. Hence I have made my way west. I bumped into Aviano during a monring walk, and they are hitting all of the high notes: fair trade coffee, thick crema, comfy leather chairs, beans from Intellegentsia in California, random tunes, decent wifi... yum. The only drawback is that other people are here, including a creepy guy in a Bellingham Technical College sweatshirt who is looking over my shoulder as I type. Yes, creepy guy, I mean you.

I'm no way anywhere close to being an expert on coffee, but what a damn good cup of joe. Even through the breve and the vanilla ( I know fru fruie) the coffee flavor was excellent. The atmosphere was great. They have free ice water and dog treats. Although the large was only 16 ounces, I didn't mind at all. There flavor of superior ingredients was worth it. They have a wide selections of teas and look like they brew it in a cool way. Unfortunately they cant seem to do math early in the morning, the cashier tried to give me to much change back. I'm an honest guy do I have him the extra money back. I will defenatly be frequenting this coffee shop more often.

Wildly impressed to find a coffee shop in the area that brews Intelligentsia beans. The pour over coffee is consistently incredible, and if they make mochas like Intelligentsia does (chocolate shavings instead of syrup or powder), you're in for a real treat. Well done, Aviano!

Wonderfully hipster! The Arnold Palmer with red rich tea is my favorite. I love how knowledgable all the baristas are. Plus they are super good looking.

If your usual coffee is 'Venti' and comes with a logo featuring a crowned siren surrounded by a green circle, you're in for a shock at Aviano Coffee. For starters, you're not finding a drink menu, no matter how hard you look. The chalkboard on the wall gives you a few sandwich and breakfast choices, but to get yourself a latte, frappe, or cappucino, you're going to be forced to interact with the cute and very friendly barristas; both genders are generally available for your viewing pleasure, and happy to describe in great detail your coffee choices. I chose a Mexican Chocolate Frappe on my last visit. The drink was delicious, blended to the perfect texture, served for-here in an actual glass, and delivered to my table while I read the latest Utne. Aviano's drinks start with Black Cat coffee, and if you're used to getting your drinks corporate conglomerate style, the kick might just send you flying into caffeine heaven. For those who've built up a tolerance, adding an espresso shot or two will give you enough pep to keep you awake at your desk for the rest of the day. Also, you'll get to watch the well-trained employees operate an old-fashioned espresso machine, complete with levers, knobs, and the need for a little skill and finesse to turn out a great drink. Remember the sandwiches and breakfasts I mentioned in the first paragraph? Well, if Aviano falls down anywhere, it's the food. You can find some tasty pastries in a glass case, and the Sunrise Omelette is made fresh to order and arrives steaming hot, but if you expect the sandwiches to be comparable to the coffee, you'll be disappointed. The choices are limited, and the eggs and meat fairly bland. Don't come for the food, but if you're a hungry coffee appreciator who needs lunch and a latte, you'll find plenty of edible options to go with the caffeinated centerpiece of your meal. You'll feel no pangs from your social conscience at Aviano. Black Cat Coffee is fair trade, and the shop recycles its java jackets. Employees seem happy, indicating that they likely earn a living wage and good tips, which they certainly deserve. If you eat in the cafe- giving yourself time to savor a masterpiece like the Mexican Chocolate Frappe- you'll use reusable dishes, glasses, and silverware, reducing waste considerably over establishments that use paper plates and cups, and improving the atmosphere. Speaking of the atmosphere, Aviano's attracts everyone from mature professionals who take advantage of the wireless internet hotspot to hold three-latte teleconferences to crowds of hipsters to teens. The magazines offered for your perusal are generally higher brow than the typical coffee house fare, though a token People or Us is generally present. The decor is appealing yet unobtrusive; the same can be said for the music. A large flat-screen television mounted on the North wall can be tuned to your favorite show. While certainly attractive and pleasant, Aviano isn't selling its image- it's selling the best darn coffee and the friendliest barristas in Denver.

It's in cherry creek, so there is that. But the coffee is phenomenal. Intelligentsia is wonderful coffee. Would be nice to see what they could do with some of the coffee actually roasted here in Colorado. The sign is somewhat deceiving since it says roasted daily, and that may very well be true, but it is not roasted here daily.

Worst customer service I've ever received. I went in with 4 co-workers to work on a project, and was immediately told to pour my coffee from another coffee shop into one of their plain coffee cups or else I would be asked to leave. Most of our group ordered coffee from this coffee shop, but both of us who didn't would have been asked to leave if we didn't comply. The music was extremely loud, so we asked them politely to turn it down just a notch, and they responded with turning it up. After yelling across the table for about 30 minutes, we returned to politely ask them again to turn it down just a bit. The barista responses with rolling her eyes. We then decided to leave. One of us let the barista know that we would not be returning because of the lack of good customer service. The barista responded by calling my co-worker a f***ing b**** when she turned around, just within earshot of the rest of our group. No thanks, think I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

The coffee here is excellent. I usually get disappointed with a paper cup and deal with it... But here the coffee doesn't have the slightest bitter taste. It is smooth and dark and won't disappoint. Nice staff as well. The dessert case could use a make over ;).

Best cup of Coffee I have ever had! These are people who love coffee. I went in just to get a large cup of coffee to go. I watched as they ground the coffee for my cup, then used the pour through method to produce a truly excellent drink. This is exactly what I needed on a cold winter day. I will be back.

Aviano Coffee brews coffee for those who truly appreciate the best coffee individually brewed using a drip method. The water temp is precisely measured to insure each cup is fresh, flavorful, and not acidic. This is why their prices are higher than places like Starbucks. Counter staff are friendly and very coffee knowledgeable, and the shop has several comfortable couches and chairs as well as tables for doing some business or meeting up with friends. Free wi-fi is also available. Aviano is not meant for the caffein slurping coffee guzzler, but for those who want to slow down and taste the coffee.

This coffeeshop has amazing coffee, and the best chai around (Bhakti Chai, made in Boulder). The owner is usually working the counter and it is easy to become a regular here. I have bought some incredible coffee here (not cheap, but well worth the price), and the owner is always willing to give you samples. I really think that this place has it all. The service is great, it is a small local business, the coffee is the best ever, and they tend to use local products. Their all-day burritos are great, too, as well as their pastries. I would hang out here all the time if I could! They also have wi-fi and a nice chill area to hang out in, with none of that hipster pretension I keep seeing at some places. There are some great coffee shops in Denver, and this one, I believe, has been overlooked for too long.

Best latte I've ever had! The foam tastes like burnt campfire marshmallows... in a good way! Plus, there was no extra charge for soymilk. Service was slow but the place was packed-- not one empty table!

I only had the regular coffee but, damn! it was good! They claim (and I have no reason to doubt) that they roast their coffee daily. It is definitely ground and brewed to order. The place is nice and cozy. Way to go!

I love a place where you see a meeting of artistry and coffee. Here, it is obvious that the employees care about the cup of coffee they are making for you. Using their hands on the outside of the cup to feel for the correct temperature (as opposed to a thermometer) and making the creative designs in the foam are just some of the ways you get that great coffee shop feel. I believe there coffee is quite good, but it is funny how you have to know what you want either based on what you already have had in the past or by looking online at the menu. The first time I went in I was quite shocked to see that there was no menu. Perhaps it's supposed to create a feeling of something like a club in that it creates an atmosphere of a certain kind of regular customer. I love the location and the interior design of this shop. It can be pretty lively, so I wouldn't recommend it for studying if you need quite, but it is great for discussions, small talk, and perhaps meetings. The atmosphere is chill and friendly and that coupled with the great coffee are the reasons I love Aviano.

Nice to see a real coffee enthusiasts cafe in Denver. Great slow drip coffee and several types of brewing offered. Staff is friendly though had a hard time keeping up with the afternoon rush. Seating is a little strange with a shortage of chairs for the amount of tables. Overall good vibe, great coffee and a good place to relax while enjoying the Jo.

I have never run into such pretentious snobs in any industry in my entire life! I work in the neighborhood and someone asked me to bring them back a double espresso. So upon ordering it they flat out REFUSED to give it to me and when I asked them they should honor what the customer wants they told me "well sir the customer is not always right". SKIP THIS PLACE... if you want good coffee at a reasonable price and good food on top of that...go to So Perfect Eats on Fillmore.

Best baristas and drinks in Denver, bar none. One Aviano barista is worth ten Starbucks employees. Their knowledge and enthusiasm for the craft is unmatched, and the drinks reflect that. Miles beyond the other Cherry Creek North coffee shops, Peets and Ink... which are shopping mall coffee joints compared to Aviano.

This is a great coffee shop. I was very upset when Peaberry left this space, and I like this place better. There was a small independent coffee shop in Chicago where I spent more time and money than I care to imagine. This place reminds me of that. The beverages are perfect. The food is typical plastic-wrapped unimaginative fare (banana bread, etc). The only cons are that it's a little loud, and that one of the baristas seems to think everyone wants to hear him sing. First, we dont. Second, your voice isn't that great...but kudos for knowing every lyric on your iPod. I kept hoping you would get stumped... Great coffee though. Hands down the best coffee in Cherry Creek. (Ink is #2, imho)

I'm sitting on a stool in Aviano right now. My double NF latte is top-notch. The barista was quite nice (especially considering I how indecisive I was being). The overall decor is not my favorite. Marble, tile and white walls aren't my version of cozy. The little details are super random -- local art, gargoyle-esque statues, bamboo, Guatemalan coffee bags, an article on the counter bashes Starbucks, etc. Wifi, lots of outlets, The Onion, good music, great espresso. Not to shabby!!

Confusing that they don't actually have a list of the available drinks posted, but the staff's friendly enough that they'll tell you what they have. Speaking of, the service was completely incredible. The guy behind the counter told us about a few upcoming shows, since we're new in town, and seemed like a totally stand-up guy. Also, to address the concern of the reviewer below me, today they were playing some really great music--Neutral Milk Hotel followed up by something equally quirky and equally good. The only weakness for some is a virtue for others: the coffee they serve is a fire-cracker when it comes to caffeine. I had a medium and would have started twitching if it weren't for the fact that I had to go about halfway through the cup.

I should start off by saying that I am not a big coffee drinker...I'm more of a coffee sissy. My friends and family always tease me asking if I'd like any coffee with that milk, sugar, flavoring etc. And I'm darn proud of it! Aside from my not so high tolerance of straight up espresso I can tell when coffee is good or bad and the coffee at Aviano is great! I live in the area and had never come in here before until a couple of weeks ago when I was wandering around the Cherry Creek North area and needed a place to set up shop with my Macbook. Tasty caramel latte check, delicious raspberry bar check, free wi-fi? Check! Now I'm here a couple of times a week, working away at some projects and sipping more and more espresso...I may have also had a few more raspberry bars. They're one of the few places I've been to in CO that serve Intelligentsia coffee also.

Best coffee I've found anywhere in the Denver area. It's often busy in here, so it's no library. But whatever. It's Intelligentsia coffee, perfectly delivered, every time I've been. The staff knows their coffee and they were able to produce when a friend from Europe requested something obscure. I've driven to Cherry Creek too many times just for this place.

One of the best cappuccinos in Denver. Intelligentsia beans, hand-pulled shots, baristi who know what they're doing, and the ideal proportion of milk to coffee result in a perfect cup. Oh, and always a lovely fern to top it off. Let them make you a traditional cappuccino their way and you won't want to order an espresso drink anywhere else.

This was pretty good I got a regular coffee for here, it was hand poured, (you know with the drip system). This was last sunday. I got a muffin too. Patrick the guy at the counter, could have been a manager, but i dont know that, was very informative and helpful. I would have given 4 stars but since i got my coffee for here and sat down to get some work done, only to find that the restrooms were out of order, that they had had some kind of plumbing problem... I had to leave after i finished my muffin and most of my coffee, they were nice enough to give me a paper to go cup so i could drive home with the rest of my drink. I wish they had told me when i was standing there ordering my "for here" coffee that the bathroom was out of order. I would have gotten it to go, and not gotten all of my books out and started working, and not created any more dishes for them to wash once the plumbing was repaired.... (there were no obvious signs of any repiar going on. Also, when i paid, i tried to use cash, the cashier asked me if i had a credit card to pay with because they were running low on change for a $20 and it being sunday the banks were closed. (arent banks alwasy closed on sunday?) I didnt remember to ask where the baked goods came from but the muffin was really fresh. (and gigantic). I spent about what i would have spent if i had gone to starbucks... Update... I received a nice yelp message from the management, love the attentiveness!!! I will go back.

What a nice change of pace from Starbucks. Not quite as convenient since there is a BUX on every corner, but today it was convenient so I thought I'd give it a try. Comfy cozy place with free Wi-fi is a good start. Though I'm really not much of a tea drinker, I thought I'd try a raspberry green tea. Awesome, and maybe even good for me. The music here is funky and adds to an overall enjoyable experience. I've got two hours to kill and don't plan on going anywhere else.

I am always in search for the best cup of coffee and these guys serve up a pretty good espresso blend called Black Cat roasted and blended by Intelligentsia, however, some of the baristas don't do it justice. ALSO, IT IS NOT FAIR TRADED: intelligentsiacoffee.com… This used to be the spot I went to in Denver but after the tall white guy with short hair that works there filled my demitasse to the rim when I ordered a double espresso from him; I just quit going. More is not better when it comes to espresso. Don't fill my cup up. The shots shouldn't be pale but more amber and syrup looking as they flow from the porta filter. It's too bad to. The short girl with the shoulder length black hair and olive skin made me my espresso the first time and she pulled it perfect. It tasted like the company describes it: syrupy body with a dark chocolate finish. The coffee company whose coffee they serve is a serious coffee company too. I have actually worked with them before. They would fly out and retrain everyone at the drop of a hat or have one of them fly to Chicago and train them to come back and set everyone straight. Their training is pretty thorough but someone at Aviano fell a sleep in class. Over all their drip coffee is fine but if you want a great shot of espresso in Denver you have a better chance at Fluid on 19th Ave. ***************************************************** 08/10/09 Dear Barista S., I am well aware of Direct Trade and the role that Intelligentsia plays in it. I agree w/ you that it is a much better buying practice for the farmer than Fair Trade. Illy was one of, if not the first, to start this practice to ensure a better quality coffee for themselves while paying more than a fair price for the farmer's coffee. My link showing that Intelligentsia is not Fair Trade was to clear up a debate that was "brewing" about whether or not it was Fair Traded at the time of my post. I personally know Intelligentsia is a great company.

I've been to Aviano a few times, with mixed experiences. The first few time I just stopped in to get a soy latte to go. They truly do make very good lattes. The staff seemed a bit weird and tended to make me a bit uncomfortable - they aren't friendly, and seem rather self involved - but whatever. Today I took my laptop in with the intention of hanging out and doing some work. Not a good experience. This time the previously tepid barista was downright unpleasant. She was unfriendly, and snapped at me for asking about the wifi - "it's only free if you actually buy something!" (which of course was my intention). She gave me barely a single shot of espresso when i paid for a double (the espresso was not very good, by the way), and she eventually turned music up so loud that I could no longer sit in the cafe in peace let alone get any work done. Although Aviano looks nice from the outside, the cafe space is small and isn't so hot. With the unpleasant attitude of the barista, and the weird vibes I continually seem to get from the staff, I'm not terribly interested in returning. Bottom line: Aviano is stuck up and is not a very fun place to hang out.

They're lucky my rating is primarily based on the coffee and not weighted so much on price- because this is the most I've ever paid for a cup of Joe. Amazing coffee but RIDICULOUS prices.

Always good espresso drinks... They seem to be very consistent. Not a huge fan of the atmosphere but, the coffee makes up for it! The staff is always friendly. A big fan of Intelligensia Coffee.

Cool little coffee shop with very good coffee. I wouldn't say it's the best cup of joe I've had but it's bold enough to get the job done. They serve Intelligentsia coffee so you know it will be good. Aviano has THE most comfortable outdoor patio chairs. Nice to see thick pads on the seats for a change vs. sitting on hard metal. Great selection of teas, too.

Ok, this place makes delicious cappuccinos. My friend (who used to live in Rome) is a total snob about her coffee, and insists that we go here every time she's in town. Unfortunately, this coffee shop is unreliable and uncommunicative. I have about a 50% success rate of having it be open when I show up. Of course, they don't have hours on their website, and I've never had them pick up the phone. The kicker was when I went a month ago and saw that it was closed and moving to Cherry Creek (as mentioned in another review). Would it kill them to say something to that effect on their website? It seems that they can't be bothered to let us plebeians know what's going on.

Eh, pretty sparse atmosphere. Just some pencil drawings tacked to the walls and they were nothing special to look at. No menu to speak of that I saw. Just walk up to the barista and order. I got a cappucino which was pretty tasty, not as good as I'd hoped but still good. I thought it was pricey for a small at about $4 if I remember right. Would stop in if I was in the area but to me it wasn't the kind of place i'd want to hang out.

Seriously people they JUST opened!! Give them a break. Coffee lacked substance? I guess she work up and smoked crack that day before her coffee. This is some of the best coffee I have ever had in the world, period. These are the best baristas... the coffee is insanely delicious and I am totally thrilld they have a new location closer to home for me. Had a latte and a coffe to go today and was in heaven until I drank the last drop. Had excellent customer service and a fabulous product.

doug pulls the best shot of espresso i've ever had, ever. the spot is a little funky, the decor is a little odd, and the hours kinda suck. but i'm willing to forgive all that for a macchiato with a little drizzle of caramel on top. (of course, this is a *real* macchiato we're talking about...not some venti madness) go there! get one! you won't regret it. i just wish they stayed open late, like they used to. (back in the day, they were open till like, 3am! now they close at like, 7 or some crap)

Be still my heart! New to Denver, I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the Intelligentsia logo in their window over a year ago (I have been a Silverlake Intelligentsia junkie for years)... I have made them a weekly fixture since. It is honestly no surprise that Aviano was ranked top coffee joint in Denver this past year. Reasonably priced for both the level of service and beans you receive (each cup of joe is brewed just for you in a pour over style - classy!). They have recently started adding other artisanal coffee roasters to their offerings including Handsome Coffee and Madcap. Expect to be impressed.

My husband and I have 2 passions: travel and coffee. We have been to the best coffeeshops including Europe and in Melbourne, Australia. Aviano is one of them. We have been coming since they opened and we love it. They serve the traditionnal macchiato and cappuccino. Delicious! Come see Tyler and Morgan, and you'll have a good start for the day! 2-hr free parking is available in the Beauvalon building. Just sit and relax!

I'm in LOVE with Aviano. It is undoubtedly because they brew and serve Intelligentsia coffees. As a native Chicagoan, when I'm missing home, nothing seems to satisfy my as much as a good cup of Intelligentsia. I love that they brew each cup to order, even if it takes a few extra minutes. I like that they seem pretty welcoming to me when I camp out and work. This is one of only 2 places in Denver that I will order coffee in!

  • Spaceman S.

Nice place. Was never busy the few times I've been there. The coffee they make is pretty good. However, bought some beans, wasn't too impressed. They're supposed to be some fancy, small-batch, boutique coffee, but it reminded me of some cheap beans I bought at CostPlus, good but not spectacular, or worth the steep price. Maybe it was just the blend I got. The service is fast and efficient but none too friendly. The wi-fi is free, once you get the code from the counter. The location is interesting. I wonder how they afford the rent. Also the parking is metered, which blows. All in all, an okay place, especially if you don't have to park.

  • Amy T.

Aviano has such a neat, open store front. It is a very beautiful coffee shop and the service is extremely friendly. Coffee is averagely priced and tastes just like any other coffee shop. There wasn't that wow factor for me. Don't get my wrong, the coffee is good and I would definitely come back if I was in the area but it isn't a place that I would go out of my way for.

    (4)
  • Sophie V.

This is perhaps the best coffee shop in Denver. With roots in Intelligentsia Coffee but without the corporate coffee feel, Aviano makes truly great coffee. The whole front opens up so has a wonderful open feel and the patio is just an extension of the interior.

Not too hipster to leave a tip sir! This coffee shop is definitely "cherry creek". I have been into the shop a few times, and I don't find the staff very warm or welcoming. In fact there always seems to be a slight air of contempt & superiority. For instance, one time I went in and wanted to make my own drink, and there was a special type of milk offered in one of their drinks. I was told that the milk was too special to put in another drink and they only used it in that particular recipe. Being a barista for three years, this made no sense to me. I also love that the staff constantly sighs and rolls their eyes when you go to the wrong side of the counter intuitive set up of a bar. The prices are also fairly steep, but that is to be expected anywhere Cherry Creek North, assuming I can guess what they pay for their leases. After the legendary Peaberry Coffee closed, I was hoping to find another daily spot in Cherry Creek to call home, unfortunately this is not it. Too many hipsters who probably like to smell their own farts and have all become the conformists they were originally trying to avoid by being all 'counterculture' together. Meh. Go here if you want to give them your money just to have them make you feel like garbage! Should be 'Aviano's Last Resort'.

  • Veronique C.

After reading my review, Doug from Aviano explained to me in detail how they brew their coffee and specifically their cold brew that I found too expensive. Coffee at Aviano is definitively good, as I had mentioned in my previous review, and while I still think $5.00 is still too much for a cold iced coffee (even considering the long brewing process and the fact that prices were higher during the Cherry Creek Art Festival), it is also true that I may have a more positive experience if I visited the place when there is not a special event happening in the area. After exchanging a few emails with Doug I feel it's fair to give them an extra star (from 3 stars in my previous review) for the quality and good taste of their coffee. This does not change the fact that the overall vibe of the place feels still a little too hip and pretentious to me. But that's my personal taste.

    (4)
  • Sue P.

Ditto on the pretentious staff. And I have had much better coffee. I could have done without the lecture on food preparation and why it was ok for the barista to level off the coffee grinds with his finger AND collect cash/cards without washing his hands. Come on. As far as the coffee, (I had a cappuccino) it was neither particularly strong nor very hot. I don't frequent Cherry Creek very often - if the staff here are any example of how people treat each other, I don't need to come back. The cool industrial architecture is the only plus to this place.

Beautiful venue with a huge open layout. Love the furniture, decor and the Edison light bulbs. Great attention to detail. Coffee served in a mug but would have appreciated some brand identity on them. Delicious. Note: Cant find a visible power outlet but love all the varieties of seating available. Wifi password is blueberry59.

Coffee to delight and maybe a bite. Intelligentsia. so good, in the swanky hood. Sit for a while with the people of style. Fancy a croissant? It's here if you want.

Even though this place is super fancy for a cup of coffee, I really enjoyed it. So many people reading or tapping away on laptops. But this is also a great place to bring a friend or go on a date. The coffee was delicious and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.

I stopped in here before meeting up my cousin. We were visiting Denver for the first time. This place has lots of seating for small groups and a large table in the back. There were also some people studying or doing work on the side tables, but I think it'd be hard to concentrate since the store is essentially one square room with no partitions to block off noise. I thought it was a nice place to chat - probably not so good to study. Boyfriend got a coffee and I had an iced plum tea. We're from Houston, so I thought this was very comparable to other coffee shops in the Montrose area but it was more pricey than I thought. We sat by the window and enjoyed our drinks and a small pastry. It's an A-OK place :)

Good espresso! The staff could use some help being welcoming and less pretentious, which comes off rude. Guys, lay off the hipster act and just keep providing your customers good coffee. I know lots of people that will not go, just because of the off-putting attitude of the staff... I think it is funny to see them dress like train conductors... regardless the coffee is good! The pastries are not good, or at-least the ones I have had are just OK. It is also expensive, about $4 for a small latte... but it is the only shop I have found in the area which cares about the art of making a good espresso. They also have a nice patio, WIFI and once laugh off the hipster act... you can just enjoy your cup.

Decor and ambiance was beautiful! I didn't find the staff to be as snobby and pretentious as many others stated.. The only reason I give 4 stars is because it seems over priced.. I ordered the 16 oz Guatemalan pour over; it was amazing, but also $4.. COMPLETELY worth it, but I simply could not afford to come here often.

Cool place, bad coffee. The pour over was way too weak. I'm semi-kidding when I ask why do they have tables with no chairs on the other side? This could be a feature. I say it's a bug. Or it's so that the preening Cherry Creekers can see and be seen...just sayin.... ;)

Limited street parking & few outlets but wifi/coffee's great! They serve Intelligentsia coffee & also sell a variety of coffee products like whole beans, porcelain drip devices & mugs. There's a large outdoor space with tables & there are lots of small tables along the side of their indoor space w/o outlets. I tried their seasonal espresso in the cappuccino form. You can also get it as a latte, machiato, etc. I was really confused when I entered because I had no idea where the cash register/order area was. I like how exposed the area of preparation is. It's in the center of the store and you can walk around their entire space. There's a small glass area for their pastries but by the time I got there nothing was left. I liked how they were playing Tycho! Because Tycho's from SF & there's Intelligentsia in SF & also because I'm from the bay area, I felt a bit of nostalgia being in that cafe. I would kill for a window that opens in the manner their main window does in my future home. I have never before seen such an awesome window contraption that essentially works as a full wall that bends outward. That design is impeccable.

I'm exploring the neighborhood I'll be working in so naturally coffee was high on my list. Must. Have. Coffee. It was a gorgeous day and the garage doors were open with people sitting both indoors and out and a line out the door. The whole vibe feels like a Mumford and Sons video which I love. Edison lightbulbs, minimalist decor and staff dressed classy with a fun edge. Everyone was really friendly too. I ordered a small cappuccino and a pain au raisin that I mistakenly referred to as a raisin brioche. The barista was super nice in clarifying. The coffee was excellent and the pastry good but not one I would order again. Too heavy on the raisins and not enough pastry cream (that was how my favorite French bakery made theirs so I'm particular). I'd definitely come back.

Hands down best coffee in Denver. Exquisite espressos and cortados in a beautiful environment. Real, delicious, legit, and glorious coffee shop. The best in Denver by far!

The place to go in cherry creek! Delicious coffee. My espresso was tasty. My only complaint is it comes with water, not seltzer water. They have fun decor, lighting and sitting. It's busy, but I had not problem finding a seat so far.

The Art of Coffee! Exquisite coffee and perfect service. Intelligentsia is the premier coffee of our time and you will appreciate each cup savored at Aviano. The baristas showcase their talents and will guide you through their wonderful coffee pours. Fresh daily made pastries are to die for! If you appreciate yummy-goodness, then you will love everything about Aviano. Keep in mind this is not Starbucks, nor a corner gas station coffee place. This is an artful, boutique coffee experience to have, to enjoy, to gather for, to sit and relax on the charming patio to sip, taste, and enjoy... For tea drinkers there's a nice selection of artisan tea. And non-dairy drinkers can rejoice in fresh made almond milk!!! Come for the quality, delish, and perfectly roasted coffee that's leaps and bounds beyond most other coffee shops. Aviano is the standard which all others should follow!

Came here for a business meeting, the patio is modern and comfortable and the coffee was both pleasing visually and delicious. It's no more than a cup of Starbucks and I would support a private business over corporate any day. I will def come again!

Context: was meeting a business colleague from a client firm (she's suggested this place, my first time there) What I enjoyed: location, vibe and tea What I didn't care for: pace of service - I was in line with four other people at 9 am on a workday. If you saw the pace at which the barista was taking orders you would have thought it was Saturday afternoon in the Caribbean. While I'm all for engaging clients and adding a personal touch, I think we should be cognizant of the current environment (as an example, Starbucks would have processed 3x the orders at that time of the day).

First timer here; you guys! Although I am strongly bad a$$(oh, I mean biased) towards my Novo @ Glenarm Family. This place has been on my radar for quite some time. Finally I got on my two wheeler(Zuma 50fx-no mods) and headed to this amazing gem. Super awesome staff, amazing java, and superb Capp/latte art. The vanilla latte; WOW! It was extremely light and tastey, not chemically -as if my teeth are going to fall out afterwards- tasting(ref: vente triple pump half soy half almond milk splash of skim vanilla mariachi white chocolate anything Starbucks beverage), crafted with love and passion type of latte. Do I have true coffee breath now? I think so! Do I care? Not a care in the world. This place will be visited again. BUT! Novo @ glenarm still has my heart! "It was the best vanilla latte I've ever had", said some beautiful arm candy I brought along for the journey.

We finally got to treat ourselves to Aviano. I was originally drawn to this place because they're one of very few places in Denver that serves and sells Intelligentsia coffee, and I wanted to buy some decaf Black Cat beans. Unfortunately, they were all out because someone forgot to order it this week. "Come visit next week," they said. But they had some behind the bar, so I tried a decaf Americano which was quite tasty. And after that I had their seasonal espresso. Apparently, they always have two espressos available, Black Cat and one other. The seasonal espresso listed on their menu was gone, so I had the other -- something from South America that I don't remember the name of -- and it was good. The staff was friendly and competent, though the service was a little weird. Out of four employees behind the bar, one guy just wanted to talk to the others, and the other three were trying to do their jobs but they kept rotating around like a volleyball team. "I just pulled the last shot, now I'll work the register and you can go pull the next one. Hey, Phil, we need more almond milk." All while the fourth guy kept getting in the way. The decor was nice, and the patio was great on a beautiful spring day. They had a few tasty looking pastries in the case, but I didn't try any of them. This isn't the kind of coffee shop where you go for an iced vanilla caramel latte and a breakfast burrito (though I heard a lot of Starbucks-style orders in line). Go here if you want good coffee made by people who know coffee.

    (4)
  • Rachel G.

Wow, so rude! I stood for 10 minutes (not in line as I was the only guest) and had every staff member come up and tell me it will be a bit longer. Come on people, its only coffee. Get over yourself!

I love the way this place looks - it's hip, it's chic, and it has an awesome patio. The baristas work their magic with apparatuses that will throw you back to high school chemistry. I really want to like it, however, I never feel quite welcomed or cool enough to be here what with the sharply dressed baristas and the too-chill attitude of the employees. I often feel more an annoyance than a customer. I enjoy their coffee, but I wasn't a big fan of the house chai. Both drinks ring in well over what I would normally pay for either, so I'll keep my trips here infrequent.

    (3)
  • Steven C.

Love love this place. Friend showed me a pic of their latte. Next minute i was sitting on nice bistro style table sipping the creation and munching on delicious pastry. each pour is carefully done whether sipping in house or to go. great job guys! personal note: when i try not to drink cow's milk, consuming whole milk as part of latte surely brought out the pimples.. something to watch out for. guess will try the soy as suggested by the mgr.

You know that negative, stonchy, I'm slightly better than you stigma that exists in high end coffee shops? Well it's in full effect here. The coffee was great, but the service and the attitude left a lot to be desired. What better way to start off your morning than by having someone treat you like garbage? It's too bad, because they made the best mocha I've had in Denver since I moved here.

    (2)
  • Melissa K.

Excellent, attentive, and careful service---Thank you! I ordered my usual Cortado with Soy milk. It was slightly pricier than other shops, but delicious nonetheless. Not really a place to study with a laptop, though, as there are very few outlets. Bring a book, bring a friend, or get to know the baristas. The space was pretty cool--go check it out!

  • Tracie B.

A cup of coffee at Aviano is not just a cup of coffee - it's an event worthy of pause. I've had numerous lattes which are so artistically constructed that you almost hate to spoil them by drinking them. Just a simple pour-over (fancy terminology for straight-up) is a treat - no need to add sugar or milk because you don't want to mask the flavor of the bean - just delicious. I prefer to take a few minutes to enjoy my drink there as slowly draining the beautiful concoction out of a proper cup is so much more enjoyable than slurping it from paper. Still, if you must take it "to go" it's still worth it. The baristas are sometimes considered snobbish but I find each of them to be friendly and delightful, and so committed to serving you the best cup of coffee you'll have all week - they are truly committed to their craft, and it shows. Yes, you will pay $4+ for your coffee which is steep I admit, but Starbuck's is not that much less, and there is no comparison. Aviano serves Intelligentsia coffee which is from Chicago (LA and New York). It's delicious but I have to wonder if there is not locally sourced coffee that is of the same quality?

  • Elizabeth H.

Coffee is good but somewhat overpriced. My chocolate croissant was actually crunchy and had to be at least a day or two old. Atmosphere is good for chatting with friends but it's too loud to work effectively. Croissant and small Americano was $7.75.

  • Brooke L.

This is easily the best coffee I have found in Denver. However, both times I have approached the counter the vibe being thrown off by the baristas is one of "so over people who don't get coffee." The baristas take the coffee they are making as seriously as a scientist in a hazmat suit handling ebola strains. The only accessory to cool missing here is a clover machine and a roaster in house. If you can get past the intimidating staff you can people watch with ease and enjoy a stellar cup of coffee.

  • ericka g.

The most pretentious cup in town. I went for a business meeting and expected something akin to professional service. I was challenged at check out that I needed to respond to my name when called. The order was placed wrong, delivered wrong, and when I called later to see if the charges were correct, was told to read the menu to figure it out. Never again.

Switching this to a five star review after they gave me my coffee for free when I realized I left my wallet at work. Evidently they're nice when it matters. Your hard outer shells don't fool me, Aviano hipster employees.

    (5)
  • Jeff M.

Great coffee, even if you avoid dairy! I've often wondered why coffee shops typically offer sweetened vanilla soy as the only non dairy alternative. Never a user of sugar in my coffee. And the Cortado was excellent, 1 part espresso, 1 part almond milk. Thank you and see you again soon!

    (5)
  • Danielle L.

This place has great selection in coffee. Definitely the pour over coffee you dot get at any regular coffee shop. Plus the whole hipster kinda of vibe here is a chill place to get some studying/writing/reading done. However, it's a little pricey, but you can anticipate that at anywhere in cherry creek.

    (4)
  • Corbin G.

Expensive but worth it, This place takes the coffee very seriously, perhaps too seriously. The decor is very clean or stark depending on your taste. The coffee is all ground and brewed to order with incredible attention to detail. It is delicious all from Intelligencia Roasting. One of the only cups of black coffee, I don't need to add sugar to. This place is not cheap coffee and pastry can easily run to 10 bucks a person and the baristas can be intimidating they are skilled craftsmen more than they are customer service people. That's fine as it isn't a sit-down place. Also, this is in Cherry Creek North so parking is..challenging. If you like coffee this is a must visit.

I bookmarked this place after a friend suggested it and I finally was in the neighborhood to try it. I ordered a iced latte (whole milk and no sweetener) it was perfect, especially on a hot day. I was disappointed when I finished it. They are definitely great at what they do and they know it I have no problem with that. Aviano serves one of the best and I will be adding it to my list of coffee spots.

    (5)

Aviano is simply fantastic, these guys know what they're doing and they do it with style. Serious coffee served here by happy people who love what they're doing.

There's no shortage of coffee places in Denver, but there is only ONE Aviano's! Truly the only establishment that whisks you away on a sensory experience, one shot of espresso at a time. The gentlemen behind the bar are incredibly passionate about hand crafted beverages and take the time and care to discover your taste and cater a perfect drink to you. You won't find a bunch of sugary syrups and frozen blended drinks, but rather thoughtfully pulled espresso, perfectly steamed milk (soy in my case), and the right amount of foam. My favorite drink is a simple soy cortado which perfectly balances the house "Black Cat" espresso from Intelligentsia with steamed soy milk-- a frothy delicious foam head tops it off. When I'm feeling like an iced drink I go for a dirty chai with the house "kilogram" chai and soy milk, with a shot of espresso! Not to be missed! Give the staff time and patience and you are greatly rewarded. Pastry comes from a local french baker-- try the traditional Canale' with your espresso! So delicious!

  • Chad R.

Man, I like this place. Any time I need an excuse to meet business colleagues in Cherry Creek, which is often (happily), I come here. The staff has always been rad, too-- in fact, once a gentleman asked me about the novel I was reading and it was the best brief discussion of Cormac McCarthy novels and films based on his books-- none of that flaunting your knowledge of lit in the framework of idle chit-chat. It was a good conversation. And any business with 'nuff guff to answer one-star ads and take on Yelpers who they feel have misrepresented things earns respect. That's what's up.

    (5)
  • Marcus C.

I'm not sure why, but I really enjoy these super snobby coffee shops. I judged by ordering a coffee and an espresso (the best way to judge, in my opinion). Neither disappointed. They do pour-overs through Chemex and provide lengthy descriptions of the beans and roasts available. The baristas are well-trained and super helpful. It's not Portland, so they don't make you feel completely too inferior to enjoy their coffee, but I think the baristas do wear bow ties. If you're looking for a good cup of coffee from somebody who truly cares about pouring a good cup of coffee, Aviano is where it's at in the Cherry Creek area.

    (4)
  • Christine Y.

This place has one of the best coffees in town. The first time I was there the barista was a bit stand offish and rude. But I gave them a second try and the staff was much friendlier then. I love the contemporary design of the place. Great location as well! It's nice to see coffee shops that aren't a chain.

    (5)
  • Sarah C.

The most amazing coffee. Which is completely spoiled by the most pretentious barista. I approached the "wrong side" of the (unmarked and unoccupied) counter and was told that normally he would "just ignore me" if I was "over here". He then shouted at a father who's small child had just spilled something because he had grabbed one of their towels to clean it up. A little snobbery makes for excellent coffee. A lot of snobbery makes for a miserable experience that isn't worth the excellent coffee.

  • Rosalinda P.

Best coffee I've had in Denver. The place is cute and small , I will agree with some of the reviews kind of depends on who is working whether or not you get great service. There is one guy who seems to always be a dick to anyone even regulars. BUT the coffee is amazing and their pastries are pretty delicious. It's just one of those places where you like HAVE to know where shit is or you're just never going to find it unless you watch other people first.

  • Meg D.

I was so excited to try Aviano after driving by multiple times, appreciating the curb appeal, and reading numerous positive reviews. I ordered an iced dirty chai, already an expensive drink because I drink almond milk (which is of course a $1 upcharge) and has a shot of espresso in it, and when I pick up my drink at the bar it's hot, not iced. Explained that I ordered an iced chai, not hot, and the barista loudly yells to the cashier (after I had already paid for my drink) that it's going to be another dollar for the iced chai. Because it has ice??!! Who charges a dollar extra for ICE? I explained that I had ordered an ICED chai and wasn't going to pay a dollar extra for ice. They finally relented and didn't charge me that extra dollar, but it was the rudest customer service exchange I've had in a very long time. I won't be back. Word to the Wise: If you're going to order an iced beverage, bring your own cup - and your own ICE.

I have visited multiple times and have been eager to write a review. The pastries were delicious, and fresh daily. The espresso macchiato was made with so much care and served so beautifully. Yes, I agree that the prices were a tad higher than the average coffee shop but come on people, you are in the Denver in the Cherry Creek North shopping district. At the end of the day you get what you pay for. Sweet foam, and fresh espresso. The ambiance was fantastic, unique tables on an outdoor patio (perfect for a Sunday coffee). The cold brew was also fantastic not too acidic like most "ice coffees" and they have all variety of milks to choose from as well.

I love Aviano Coffee. Coming from NYC, this place is super trendy with hip, friendly baristas with awesome hair/mustaches! Definitely agree with a fellow Yelper who wrote that the place has a Mumford and Sons vibe :) Not a bad thing, but if you're not into that 'scene' I'd suggest a different place. The drinks are priced a tad on the high side, but I've never had a bad cup and love to sit and do some work in the back. It tends to get a bit loud at times between the music and the crowd, but definitely a place that's big and comfortable for meetings or just hanging out for a bit. The outside patio area is great too! (Note that parking can be a serious pain. Yes, there is street parking, but it's often hard to find. To make this place perfect (and my life easier), I REALLY wish they had a parking lot.)

  • Beau W.

I was so disappointed with this place. I went there to give it a try after seeing a good review on yelp. I walked in an look around for pastry options then looked at menu. The lady (middle age dark hair) at the counter looked at me so unwelcome. The vibe I get from her was so snobby and annoyance. I ordered maciato. Her response is unbelievable. She looked at me and told me what maciato is in the sense that I don't know coffee or how to order one. I am a coffee drinker and I know my coffee and I found that very rude. The customer service is so poor that I can not believe it is located in cherry creek. Then my little sister was jokingly say that "where is starbucks menu?" The lady response promptly with an attitude in the voice " this is not starbucks" I have bookmark ed this place and always wanted to try but after the experience, though coffee is good, will never step foot into this place again. There are so many good coffee placed in denver with way better customer service. It is not worth it.

    (1)
  • Mark T.

I give the coffee five stars. But the attitude and service scores a three. It might be higher if you view the entire experience as a parody of what an all-hipster-in-ironic-garb-with-quirky-facial-hair-wearing-suspenders-run experience would be. Don't bother asking for any tips or insights in how they make their coffee. You will be treated as a potential spy conducting coffee espionage. But by all means, go there, appreciate it for what it is: a somewhat snobbish coffee establishment that puts their heart and soul into each cup. Given the warm Colorado vibe that most establishments exhibit, this stands out as being uncharacteristically chilly.

This has been on my list to try, and today I finally conquered it. I do recall the first few times I passed it up, I did not have a clue what it was. Signage is minimal and don't expect to get much information from the front of the building. You must be walking up to it from 2nd street to see the actual sign. In that respect it's kind of discreet. Super modern and trendy space, so it could feel a little snobby. However, it still has a relaxing vibe to it. There's a bar that goes around the whole space and it seems like the kind of place to get some work done if you like background noise. And the coffee? Lovely! I wasn't sure what I wanted and the barista so kindly helped me figure out what I should have, turned out it was just the kind of brew I like. Would like to return and try one of their specialty drinks and a pastry because they looked pretty darn scrumptious. Love that there's pour over coffee in Denver. No cream, no sugar, nothing needed except the pure coffee in all its own glory.

I'm a huge Aviano fan. Intelligentsia coffee is one of my favorites; the pour-overs here are exceptional. Aviano also serves Kilogram Tea and Black Cat Espresso, which are both great. I'm especially fond of the Ginger Plum tea in the summer, and their vanilla almond milk lattes in the winter. The Askinosie Angeleno is also worth mentioning. It's really expensive for a drink ($6 I think) but completely worth it for an occasional treat-- it consists of espresso, milk, ice, and shaved Askinosie chocolate, shaken in a martini tumbler. The coffee shop has a very specific aesthetic-- it's a great place to sit and work, and has plenty of comfortable seating. The baristas are all incredibly friendly. They often have great pastries, which they bring in fresh from a local French bakery. One thing to be aware of is the limited selection of milk- there is no nonfat milk. They do, however, have both soy and almond milk. Some people talk about Aviano being a little pretentious, but I wholly disagree. The staff is friendly, and unequivocally thankful for your business.

How have I NOT written a review for Aviano? How is that possible? My husband and I go nearly every Sunday. It's a Sunday treat for us. My husband is on the hunt for the best coffee... the best in Denver and the best every where we travel. We found Aviano more than a year ago... Our search ground to a halt then... We have tried them all. We like Daz Bog for their beans and INK is alright in a pinch... but Aviano... Oh how I love thee. They use Intelligentsia beans from California but after having tried the exact same drink at both Intelligentsia in Venice and Aviano in Denver... I have to say that Aviano makes their drinks better. The foam is perfect, the flavors balanced... it is tradition for my husband and I to order and get our coffees then walk quietly back to the car as we devour our milk foam. It truly doesn't get better than this. Yes it is pricey. Yes the guys behind the bar have handlebar mustaches (I love those mustaches!!!) but it doesn't change the quality. The new shop makes the ambiance a real draw too. Coffee lovers near and far, come to Aviano. It's worth the trip.

  • Nic Z.

It goes without saying that the existence of any independent coffee shop serves as a "Take that, Starbucks!" Well, Aviano doesn't say it, they scream it; anti-Starbucks articles are framed and displayed inside, among other things. I had Aviano bookmarked for months on Yelp, so I wanted this visit to go differently. In the grand scheme, I would rather visit the green mermaid who embraces the fact that they are the upscale McDonald's of coffee than a local coffee shop who might have great coffee but has an even greater attitude problem. Companies are no different than people -- "If you have to tell someone you're great, you're not." Just make me a cup of coffee so wonderful, I won't be able to recall my own name - much less the name of your competition.

Lovely spot. Minimalist mid-century modern decor complete with metal structured shelves and exposed bulb lighting connected with thick metal pipe. Immaculately clean. The floor was swept and mopped 2x during my 45 minute stay. Trendy, energized vibe with the crowd to match. Coffee reminiscent of what my husband and I enjoyed in a Parisian cafe on our honeymoon. Unique single seating options offer miniature workspaces on a wall-side wooden bench. The staff is what I would expect of a trendy Denver barista. People watching aplenty. I enjoyed their coffee and it packed a punch, well worth $3.50. A must do while seeking a motivating and productive solo work session.

Perfect: passing through Cherry Creek business district at 7 am and I remember Aviano's is open. I have been here twice before with family. This time I say: why waste an hour going into work early when I can drink coffee here for an hour, have my CHOICE of parking, and read my New Yorker? Got the biggest brewed carafe and did up the entire hour. Great sound system, I only wish they had a little digital reader to tell me the song and the artists. The decor and the staff are the perfect level of friendly/snobby (at least for me). Not just another cup of coffee.

Admittedly, I'm not a coffee drinker. I drink a few hundred chai lattes (stop judging) but I don't do coffee. That being said, I'm in a coffee shop two or three times a day during the week for meetings (I know my Denver coffee shop locations). Aviano wins for atmosphere. Very posh, very Cherry Creek meets the more affluent hipsters. Perfect neighborhood for brewing coffee one cup at a time. So yeah, I don't mind waiting, that's what you should expect from their concept. I dig the square up ipad for paying (helps me keep my business receipts in my email, thanks). Love the patio and the glass garage door for good weather. The pastry case is a little on the sparse side and not really tempting me even when I'm trying to talk myself into it. And the price is a good $1 more for a chai latte than pretty much everywhere. Great for meetings, great for doing a little reading but not blowing me away.

  • Mark K.

Obnoxious is the best adjective I can use to describe Aviano. When ordering skim milk for a latte the skinny barista turned up his nose and stated they only have 2%. The setup and fixtures of the shop itself are unique and stylistic. The lighting is great for a meeting, but the music is somewhat trendy and odd and not conducive if you're meeting a friend for a coffee or working. It would be nice if they had a better selection of snacks and pastries. The coffee's aroma was strong but the taste was bland at best. The clientele seems to like to check everyone else out as if you're worthy enough to sit in the same establishment. If Aviano is a convenient location and you like to be seen, this is the coffee shop for you, if not, find one of the other awesome coffee shops and cafe's throughout the Cherry Creek area.

They have done amazing work with the space they have! Great feeling, amazingly friendly staff, and the very best latte I have ever had.

I am really fortunate that I live in a neighborhood where I can walk to five coffee shops in less than 7 minutes. I guess that goes part of the way to explain my twice a day habit. You could call me an addict, but definitely don't call me an expert in the art of the brew. Aviano happens to be the closest coffee shop to my house, but I've only been here a few times. You see, I'm a coffee guzzler so it is a splurge for me to spend $4 for a latte or equally as much for a regular cuppa. Aviano takes coffee to a whole new level - they have a "Pour-Over and Brew Bar." The only bars I am familiar with serve Johnny Walker and they pour scotch over rocks. Aviano tries to explain their brewing methods and it goes something like this: "Hario Pour-Overs, Chemex, Kone, Eva Solo, Syphon and French Press." It gets even more confusing when you overhear the following from the barista: "on V60 today we're serving the Flecha Roja! We're also serving the El Cedral on Chemex and the Karatina Peaberry on Cafe Solo." I don't know about you, but I have no idea what the heck they are talking about. I won't Google any of that and I probably couldn't discern the difference in taste between the different methods, even if I were forced to do so. I just want a cup of smooth, strong coffee. And Aviano definitely delivers: great, smooth, strong coffee each time I've been here. All cups are made to order and are also ground fresh for each order; that is some serious dedication. And the results as I've already stated are absolutely delicious. All this coffee obsessiveness does come with a price however; no, not the $4 tariff, but in the time it takes to get your coffee. It takes FOREVER to get a cup of coffee here so if you need a quick cup for take away on your way to work, it is not going to happen. If you are hanging out and doing the coffeehouse thing, then that is not a problem. Patience grasshopper, you will be rewarded. Everyone in Denver complains about CCN (people, parking, prices) and yes Aviano is definitely a part of, and certainly of, this neighborhood. Most of us are not any more high maintenance than denizens of other Denver 'hoods, in fact we even know how to shower and shave. As for parking, well, why are you here in your car, hipster? Oh yeah, the coffee. Seriously parking is not that bad. And the prices, well they are comparable to other great Denver coffee shops and when the coffee is this good, it is worth a splurge.

An update for the new location. I hate change when I'm already flustered and was not in the mood to hear Aviano's had moved to a new location in Cherry Creek, especially after I'd circled and couldn't locate the right corner (I'm in town infrequently). Their new location is tucked in the middle of a block and the exterior is what I'd describe as pretty yet (darn) subtle. The interior is just as you'd expect, Rustic Victorian Hipster Trend-Conscious Fancyâ„¢, which is to say, I liked it. The new setup is great! More indoor and outdoor seating geared toward their costumers (individuals or pairs that most likely have a laptop). The baristas are 100% friendlier but still do amazing work. Apparently the location suits them. Watching them create the drinks is part of the pleasure of great coffee and I saw numerous people whip their phones out to capture the magic. The croissant and latte were fantastic and strangely affordable.

Reasons why I am a fan: 1. Intelegentcia coffee really is fantastic. If you prefer Starbucks it is because you have underdeveloped tastebuds. 2. Bakhti Chai is served here. It is spicy, locally brewed and is by far my favorite chai. Try some. 3. They are playing some kind of Radiohead mix spanning the Bends and OK Computer. On the cons, their wi-fi is not working and for that I am taking off one star.

Fun experience, good coffee. The environment is very unique. The vibe is a modern take on a past century italian social hub revolving around a robust espresso. This is a great place for that business meeting, girls get-together or solo book time.

Coffee and atmosphere was definitely cool and very hipster. Coffee is great, they use intelligencia coffee which is one of the best. It is pricey, but you are paying for the experience! Best way to describe this place is... swanky hipster with great expensive artisan coffee.

A coffee Experience and nice antidote to the Big Box coffee place. Aviano is a tad high in pretension, but lovely, nonetheless. Love the coffee centered layout and coffee bar. Love the industrial pipe lighting. Love that the experts take each cup very, very seriously. Why only 4*? It's just that...well...it wouldn't hurt to smile a little more...would it?

Elite coffee with an atmosphere to match. They have a variety of coffee flavors and their pastries looked awesome too. All I got was a coffee. It was good, but had that Starbucks strong bitter taste to it.

So I'm sitting at Aviano coffee and am a paying customer. There are many guests that are FREEZING as they have the doors wide open and a blustery 46 degree wind is blowing through here. I politely asked the man, Ben, to close the doors and his response was rude. He said, a change in the temperature will negatively affect the espresso. Apparently, espresso is best served at 46 degrees? I didn't know? RUDE, ARROGANT, and ALL ABOUT THE EMPLOYEES and not the customer. I asked who the owner was and he smugly replied, "THE OWNER STANDS BEHIND ME." and wouldn't give me his name. Are you the owner of this establishment? I'd love to get your opinion. Buyer beware, ATTITUDE runs hot here but that's about it.

I thought this would be my new local coffee spot, however, I can't get past the arrogance of their main barista. The guy is just rude and shouldn't be in a customer-facing role. The whole hipster-sacrificing-service-for-artistan-coffee isn't working for them. I've seen enough of the attitude and demeaning customer approach for me to make it a personal warn-the-community mission.

Whoa. Whoa there. Intelligentsia Coffee here in Denver? Ok, I originally thought Intelligentsia was a company based out of San Francisco; my bad, they're actually from Chicago. Well, I got exposed to Intelligentsia out in SF, so....yeah. And they're here in Denver, too! Woohoo. This is a high-end place, which shouldn't be a surprise considering it's located in Cherry Creek North. The baristas here look like they're from another time period....almost. Some of them have those intriguing moustaches. I couldn't decipher the differences with the coffee selections (oh shush, I'm not a cultured coffee snob yet), so I chose the Oaxaca roast. Mmm. Deep-bodied coffee. Mmm. Now THIS is coffee. Oh yeah, I do like me some SBUX for the perks & convenient location. But when I need the deep stuff...I sure know I'll be going to Aviano's from now on. Their pastries are delicious, too. Worth the extra price.

If you truly want to enjoy your coffee, Aviano is the place to come! Its not your run of the mill Starbucks crud in a cup. These guys know how to draw a proper shot of expresso. The beans are Ethiopian and produce wonderful taste that tantalizes your tongue with great flavors. I've truly not enjoyed a cup of coffee since my last trip to Addis. I also enjoyed the Lemon Poppy Seed muffin. This will be a landmark to return too when I'm in Cheery Creek in the future.

This place is an Intelligentsia Coffee account (they are their own place but serve up Intelligentsia's beans). I personally think their signature Black Cat blend is a little to exotic/eccentric, but luckily when I came here they had another coffee they were using for espresso as well that was more buttery and less edgy. It tasted great. The shop had a cool set up as well with all the necessary gadgetry a modern third wave coffee bar needs. Shot was pulled well, and the two guys behind the bar were helpful and nice. The only reason this place gets a 4 star is because my 6 ounce cappuccino cost me a whopping $4.50. Granted, its right near downtown Cherry Creek, maybe the rent is out of control, but $4.50? I've been to places that pull just as good an espresso beverage that only charge $3.15. Never have I seen a $4.50, not even down town LA. Other than the exuberant price, the place was a winner. Definitely hit it up if you are looking for a treat, or have recently received a large inheritance. PS. I really love just about everything they do at Aviano. It might be my favorite coffee shop in Denver. I am so thankful that they nave both almond and soy milk for my drinking pleasure. Their croissants are fittingly delicious, as are their other baked goods, I am sure. My complaint, and the reason you won't find me here with any regularity, is the service. Yes, there are some mustache twisting overeducated hipster baristas here. They are not the ones who sour my experience, however. It is a certain female that cannot contain her displeasure with what appears to be life as a whole. Making a drink with any semblance of friendliness is too much to ask. While I enjoy their coffee, I don't find it so over the top amazing that I am willing to overlook their service. Sorry Aviano.

One of the most intricate coffee bars I've ever been to. I'm not a coffee aficionado by any means, but I could tell that this place is legit. They have good espresso drinks but their true forte is the drip coffee. (Again not an aficionado, I think drip coffee is the correct term.) Anyways, there's this one guy behind the bar that makes your coffee for you. He take times to grind the beans fresh to order. He has a special technique to wet the filter, he even has a timer on while wetting the filter to make sure it's perfect for use. The water is poured over the ground beans in a methodical circular manner. It's a true art form when you get a chance to watch. You can order a single order or a larger order if there are two or more people drinking the coffee. It's the same price as other coffee chains but you get this extra attention to detail. Absolutely awesome. I was staring at him for a quite a while. Pretty sure he was creeped out. It's just admiration, not stalking, no worries Mr. Barista.

Trendy ... but delicious, trendy coffee! It was a beautiful, delicate roast I had from the specials board that was accurately described. No sugar or cream required. The space is interesting - it is set up like a bar. You place your order at the counter where a few clipboards sit to show your options. Then you wrap around to the other side of the counter (it's not a journey but it is a little confusing for first timers) to pay. Anywhere for $3 - $6 for 12 - 16 oz. The 'bartender' creates your drink and calls your name when it's ready. All of the coffees are done traditional pour-over. They have a couple special roasts available in addition to you standard list of brewed drinks. Lattes, espresso, americanos and tea. There are a few baked goods - most looked pretty sweet (no sammies or oatmeal or that jazz). A good experience in general! Someone post the wifi password (I didn't get up to ask)!!

Be still my beating heart... and no, it isn't from the excess caffeine :) Aviano is simply amazing. They offer a true coffee house experience. You really can't compare Aviano to other coffee places. They offer a daily meny of Intelligentsia coffees that are each masterfully brewed using different brew methods. At their Pour-Over and Brew Bar, each cup of coffee is fresh made by hand with freshly ground coffee. They use different brew methods like V60 pour-overs, Chemex, French presses, etc... each method really masterfully opens up the characteristics of each coffee. They also have an espresso bar. No automatic machines here! They make some of the best espresso beverages I've had. I loved the cappuccino I had. Perfectly hand pulled shots, topped with beautiful rosetta. Their indoor seating area is roomy and offers many different seating options. There are tables for your laptop and comfy chairs to read a book in. Their patio is also really nice. So, why only four stars? I wish it was closer to home and the prices were a little cheaper... Their coffee is so good that I can't just have one cup!

Great coffee, pasties, and vibe. Hip and trendy, but too much so - needs more SF influence here, and the accompanying grudge, to make this a proper hipster coffee bar.

Great coffee and tea but wow, so much nickel and diming. I ordered a 16 oz ice tea which was $3.5 - fine - but when I asked for light ice they informed me that was 50 cents more. It left me feeling icky-- 4 dollars for an ice tea is just a little crazy. I am a New Yorker and even I found this unreasonable. Reminds me of LA, hah. To their credit, as I mentioned the coffees are good. The space is nice too.

Great location, chill vibe. Came here to meet a friend on a Wednesday. Plenty of chairs and tables inside as well as comfy couches to lounge in. Seating is available on the outside as well so you can type away on your laptop in the gorgeous sun. Everything here is freshly made. I ordered a regular Ethiopian brew and the barista ground my coffee beans in front of me! They also have a spectacular spread of muffins, sweet breads, and other baked treats. I wish I got one of their famous lattes but I wasn't in the mood to get wild...no worries though, I'll be back.

Aviano Coffee is set in a modern chic building that is beautifully designed with simplicity in mind. The focus of the seeker of good coffee then turns to the center of the room where baristas dance around each other perfecting the art of their craft: coffee. Even if one isn't that into coffee, it's hard not to appreciate the correlation between the simplistic yet diligent design of the interior to the creations being made in the center by their masters. The only downside to those who seek comfort is that the urban design leaves little room for comfort and provides a loud experience. Despite this I cannot see any reason not to give Aviano five stars since I judge a coffee shop by its coffee not it's cover.

The new location is a total turn-around in the right direction. Their coffee is outstanding, always has been. The pastry selection has much improved. And they still have a jar with doggie cookies and a dog-friendly pretty patio. That just melts my black little heart.

Best coffee in Denver? We shall see about that! And I did and yeah, their coffee is pretty bad ass. I usually grab a regular coffee anytime I go out to a chain establishment but when I visit the local places like to get a specialty drink. I went in yesterday and they had a good crowd for a Tuesday afternoon, which makes me wonder, what do these people do for a living that allow them to hang out at coffeehouses during the work day (yet they could also be asking the same about me!) Across from me was a gorgy French man and next to me a dude with a fedora and a bowtie, I felt like I was in a movie. I order a cappuccino and it was absolute perfection. I didn't even want to drink it because that's how beautiful looked. The kicker is that I was in Aviano, Italy this past September and it rivaled some of the cappuccinos I had there so this place is legit. So why isn't this place five stars? Their so called wifi connection they have there. I specifically went for both a drink and to get some stuff done and couldn't get a decent connection. But that won't deter me from coming here again, I look forward to trying their carmel macchiato and other drinks!

Pros: great coffee, individually made to order, excellent pastries, knowledgeable & friendly staff. Good selection of beans & coffee making equipment, beautiful space. Cons: space is very noisy, needs some sound absorbent material. While worth the wait, service can be very inefficient at times.

Decided to try Aviano while in the Cherry Creek area. It is talked highly of and wanted to see for myself. I arrived around 5 thinking parking might be impossible. Luckily I was wrong and was able to park close. I brought the iPad to do some stuff while I enjoyed a good cup of joe. The people behind the counter were really nice. I opted for the mocha in a mug so I could sit and sip. When I grabbed iover the counter I was so surprised at how pretty it was. I love latte art. The ambience was cozy.

  • Jason W.

The coffee is pretty good, but the prices are outrageous. They charge $6 for a 16 oz almond milk latte. Everywhere else charges around $4.50 for a 20 ounce and there is much better coffee in town. The parking is almost non-existent. The lot next to it is for other businesses, so you have to pay to park on the street, further increasing the cost of going there. Not worth it, won't be back unless I'm desperate.

    (2)
  • Brant W.

I wanted to try a local coffee place, so I came here. Parking is kind of a perplexing proposition. If you can find a spot on the street, park there! The lot next to Aviano is filled with signage for other nearby businesses with dire warnings of car towage to any transgressor. Yikes. I sunk a buck into the street meter and crossed to the coffee shop. Inside, the setup is kind of an island in the middle. It seems a little disorienting; I didn't know where the line began, but it's not a big deal. And the staff was very helpful (and really cool). Instead of coffee, I opted for a less-harrowing green tea. It's organic, and delicious, too. I felt kinda frazzled, so I didn't really know which specific tea it was. Atmosphere in this place is great. It has that sort of caffeinated heartbeat one might expect from a little joint with lots of savvy.

I found myself in the Cherry Creek mall and had at least an hour before I was to meet my wife there. I figured coffee is a good idea. Where ever I looked in the mall, a Clusterbucks was there with its burned beans and automatic machines. I asked Siri what to do (the iPhone assistant who never understands my Swedish accent). This time she understood me! I was linked to Yelp! (what did we do before smart-phones?), and I found out that a 10-minutes walk away was Aviano coffee shop. Eight minutes later I walked in and it was jam-packed! I found a seat at the bar (something I strangely prefer, being European, I suppose). I ordered a macchiato and an almond crossiant. I sat watching the barristas do the pour-over on some hario-looking setups while waiting for my order. I tried to ask some questions about grinders and beans, but they didn't understand me much more than Siri does. After I while (not too long) I got my drink and crossiant. WONDERFUL! It was just the way I make my macchiato at home but now with a fancy pattern of microfoam on my crema, something I never could manage even after years of trying. Most times when I order macchiato I get an espresso with super hard milk foam scooped out with a spoon on top of the espresso. This isn't how a macchiato is supposed to be made. One should be able to pour the milk through the crema and the finish should make a stain= macchiato in Italian. I know, I am a coffee geek! I can't help it. I wish Clusterbucks worked for me, but if it did, it would be like saying that I like to drink beer just for the peeing part. Oh, they serve Intelligentsia coffee, which is to say one of the best one can buy. I bought a bag of Black Cat for my home machine, and it was just as good as some of my best home roasts. Aviano will be visited by me in the future as well. Cheers!

Dear Aviano, You have some of the best coffee in the city and some of the best groomed employees. But for the love of God, please turn down the music! Nobody talks to each other here because it's just too damn loud. I'm in my late 20s so please don't disregard this suggestion because you think an older person wrote it. Thank you.

This place takes thier coffee seriously! For the true coffee/espresso drinker, or someone looking to treat themselves, this place is the best I've found in town. It sticks out in a coffee-shop saturated Cherry Creek North. Warning though, you'll pay a premium for your drink here. I really believe this is one of those places where you get what you pay for. Glad they've finally re-opened!

Though I've only been here one time...it's been on my mind ever since so I figured I had to share. We were meeting friends nearby for dinner on New Years Eve and were early. We were shocked that they were open...but so happy to get a warm drink. It was dead which made us a bit nervous but we were welcomed happily by the two baristas working. They were so friendly and so knowledgable. We had all sorts of questions about their specialty drinks and they were more than happy to answer. I got a dirty chai - so good! - and my boyfriend got a strong mocha...also very tasty. We hung out in the shoppe for a bit and were not hurried to get out...which I had kind of figured that we would be since it was a holiday. We enjoyed our drinks, loved the atmosphere and will certainly return.

I went in yesterday for the first time in about a year. Although outrageously priced, I like this place. There is just one thing I have noticed: it is as if they literally picked patrons and baristas straight out of Williamsburg Brooklyn. There are Denver hipsters and then there are NYC hipsters, and the breed of hipster at Aviano is NYC. Do they have a requirement that to work here you must dress like a village child from the 1920's?

  • Love To Eat D.

I have to say that this is the best cappuccino I've had in Denver. There's only one size and the milk/espresso proportions are always perfect. I hate coffee shops that give you 2 shots regardless of size - that means more milk in larger cups! You don't know good coffee until you try Aviano. BARISTAS who truly care about what they serve you.

A bit too stiff and inflexible in terms of atmosphere and operations.asked for a iced expressly, 50 cents more to pour the expression into a cup w ice. Them asked for some cream in drink(have to ask for this as is only available behind the counter, 50 cents more for this. Kind of frustrating.

I was truly hoping to find my new go-to coffee spot in Aviano. However, the attitude of the main barista, is simply inexcusable. Rude customer service and frankly espresso that certainly isn't worth the attitude that comes with it!

The layout of this place is very odd. Not very inviting and somewhat snooty. The coffee is average to good. It is a little pricy and parking is terrible. This place is definitely a hipsters paradise. When it comes to coffee houses I normally prefer the local shops over Startbucks. In this case I prefer the latter.

Aviano is always excellent, coffee is phenominal and I think it is priced very well (less than the over cooked Starbucks I used to drink). I have alaways had great service from every single employee and they are all kind and courteous. I love the Cafe Aviano have had two in one setting. I liked the old space next to Brandons, but the new space is that much better. The patio is so perfect on nice evenings. Doug, the owner, has always been great and a pleasure to see when I visit this establishment. To this guy "Will E." who states he can take anything he wants into any coffee shop he wants. I think you should rethink this mentality. You obviously dont own a business and have the idea you should be catered to. If I owned a local hamburger joint and you brought Smash Burger in and posted up at my table, I would not have been as nice as the owner. Also, its hard to beleive you when you lied that you paid so much for a coffee you didnt buy. I side with Aviano Coffee!!! To those who have not been here, I highly recomend you go. Its great and the coffee is amazing.

Surprised with all the attention given to where the coffee comes from and how it is brewed that the half and half option was Meadow Gold from a plastic container. I expected something local or at least an organic brand, especially if it is going to be served in such an undignified way. Talked up how the coffee did not have the burnt taste one often finds at other coffee shops to my boyfriend and even got him to admit he could understand paying over $4 for it. When I got on here to review my experience I was immediately turned off by the owner's response to many reviewers. Obviously, the owner has no interest in seeking out return business or possibly has no concept regarding word of mouth reviews or he would be aware that others can read these snarky responses. Why would I want to support someone who does not want to listen to feedback?

"Plus the location isn't really convenient to me so I'm not sure how often I'll be visiting, but maybe I'll be back when I'm feeling like having a treat. " Did I really say that? Only a couple of days ago? Well, I lied. I was back the next day. Granted, I needed to go to FedEx Kinkos and it was a across the street, but I decided to go to that location so I could get a coffee at Aviano. They make an amazing cup of coffee and the people that work there are knowledgeable and friendly. I probably won't go that often, but I can see a coffee from Aviano becoming a treat 1-2 times a month.

Aviano's is by far one of the best places I have had coffee in Denver. The espresso is excellent and the customer service exceeds expectations. They are always willing to answer any question and even educate you along the way if your not familiar with any of their items. Check it out, you'll be very pleased.

  • Taylor M.

For being independently owned, it was a shockingly horrid customer experience. The baristas were rude and short, not to mention abusive in language behind my coworkers back for simply asking to turn the music down. Ironically, there were five of us together working on a project for our company, analyzing customer service standards. Perfect timing though, not only was it a terrible experience, we highlighted them as an example of what not to do in our presentation. Specifically the blonde barista. Maybe you should be more appreciative of your job. If you even have one after we call your owner. Back to Starbucks because of you.

Whenever I am in Cherry Creek I like going to Aviano. They are always super friendly and have a dog friendly patio. The baristas make great suggestions for what you are in the mood for if not for the usual. I almost always get the Iced Angeleno, a heavenly chilled concoction of four (4!) shots of espresso and (soy) milk, sweetened with agave nectar (sounds weird, tastes amazing). The only reason its not a 5 star place for me is because the prices seem higher, but I will pay for quality and am glad its not a chain.

Once I found this very pretty and crowded coffee house in Cherry Creek North I made my way through the maze of people and tables to the counter to see if they had a menu. While waiting in line I noticed that the only menu was actually at the register and was 8.5X11 size so it was kind of difficult to peruse 5 people back. So when the girl behind the counter asked what she could get for me all I could think of was an Americano...I didn't even have a clue as to what else they had. All I could see was the odd contraptions they had behind the counter for "pour over" coffee. Okay, I figured that one out on my own after I sat down. I'm guessing it's essentially drip coffee without the machine. They do each cup individually by pouring hot water over the grounds and then it drips into the cup. ooooh...aaaaahhh. Next up, breakfast. I was meeting a friend there and hadn't eaten yet. I called ahead and asked them if they had any breakfast sandwiches or anything not sugary and was told that the only savory food item they had was quiche. Okay, good. I'm glad I did that because nothing in the case was actually labeled. I guess you're supposed to know what they've already got before you get there. Odd, seems like they expect everyone to be a regular, but okay. And yes, I could've asked 20 questions, but they were just so busy that I didn't want to be *that* person who holds the line up. You know? So once I figured out that you order regular coffee on this side of the counter and espresso drinks on the other I felt better. I got up to the register and finally realized that it wasn't me: these people are really unorganized. I received my Americano and my quiche. Both were excellent, by the way. I found a soft chair to sit in and relaxed while talking to my friend and watching the show. What show is that, you ask? The chaos at the counter. Those people really need a better system. They meant well, they really did. They just didn't execute well.

Hipster as all get out, and not because of the crowd. The staff always looks like they are on shoot for an urban outfitters ad campaign. The customers are your standard cherry creek snob- sip coffee outside while the early retirees around you discuss the pros and cons of a second home in La Jolla or a Porsche to cruise around in. If you come here to study be ready to search high and low for a plug, really more of a chit chat/rendezvous cafe. Most importantly, best coffee in town. Brave the hipster vibe and Chanel number five for a delicious cup of coffee!!!

I did not expect to find Intelligentsia coffee in Colorado. A pleasant surprise that lifted my afternoon to new heights. There's a 45 minute parking lot right next to the location.

The staff is polite and the coffee is good, but the overall attitude is too pretentious for me. This new place feels cold and noisy. I've been a barista for a number of years and I know how hard they have to work, but speed it up! I don't have time to wait and wait for a coffee or a latte. Hire more staff or be ready at peak hours to deal with a crowd.

I just have an issue with getting thrown attitude when I haven't had my coffee! I'll say first that the espresso was clean and smooth with a hint of bitter, not bad but not what I look for in my espresso. What I do look for is customer service with a smile and that did not happen. I ordered an Americano with light water and ice. When I thought I had mumbled I simply repeated, "light water." The girl taking my order kind of snarled and said with an attitude, "I heard you." Maybe she could have made a joke or said something like, "sure! No problem." I was put off enough to really want to just walk away and head elsewhere. Then my boyfriend asked a question about their brewing style and she became frustrated with him for not knowing. Maybe this is just my perception, but I certainly didn't get a smile and I certainly won't be back.

I was recently in this neighborhood picking up some printed work and passport photos from the FedEx-Kinko's. It was early and I was in need of some coffee when lo and behold across the street I see a sign advertising Intelligentsia coffee. I immediately became very excited. See, when I lived in LA Intelligentsia Coffeebar made some of my very favorite coffee. I would often do interviews and other miscellaneous work from the Silver Lake location. Now, if you don't know, Silver Lake is where all the self-respecting hipsters in LA go and/or live. And that's why I find it ironic that the Denver coffee shop that sells Intelligentsia is in Cherry Creek - quite possibly the least hipster neighborhood in all of Denver. But, perhaps this is so ironic I just don't get it? Either way, I can't say I care - I'm just glad to have an option to have this coffee here in Denver. Intelligentsia serves coffee the is single cup brewed. I always love having it made because it feels a bit mad scientist-y - there are glass pots of water, large funnels of coffee grinds, a "perfect" mixture between the two depending on the size cup you get. And the flavor is phenomenal. I'm not sure if Aviano was serving Intelligentsia before or not because the last time I visited this shop was when it was still on Lincoln, but I'm awfully glad to see them serving it now, regardless.

Checked out Aviano on a Sunday morning after hearing great things about it. I loved the coffee shop that was in the space prior to Aviano, which is a good thing because the decor was exactly the same. The menu board doesn't even fit over the old one. Everything looks out of place, like the space is far too big for what they are trying to be. I had a soy latte which was delicious, it better be after $5 and a 10 minute wait. The quality of the coffee was no where near worth it.

This was a really disappointing experience. There are a lot of coffee chops in the area, and Aviano is highly rated and well recommended so maybe we had too high of expectations. However, the experience, all in all was so intrinsically offensive that all four of us felt the call and took to sharing our experience here on Yelp. (see reviews from Jordan S., Lia M. and Taylor M) Honestly, the environment is not great. They have a hate letter to Starbucks framed at their entrance, loud music, sloppy appearances, and slow service. Most people go to coffee shops to relax, do homework, and possibly get some face booking in. Can't do it at Aviano because the internet is SSLLLOOOOWWWWW.... From now on, I'm going to another coffee shop in the area. Farewell, Aviano.

Very trendy hipster cafe. I really needed caffeine so I ignored all the smug and ordered a cappuccino. Based on what matters most, the product, this place has a lot of others beat. Based on atmosphere and crowd, there's almost too much smug in the air to breathe. If trendy little hipsters bother you, you may want to avoid this place. If you just want coffee and don't care about the crowd, it's good.

So glad we could patronize a local cafe! Living in Colo Spgs, I had never heard of Aviano Coffee, and it was refreshing to walk into something different and be greeted by friendly, attractive faces ready to help us out. A small printed menu sat on the counter. We were in a hurry Sunday morning, and since we're not coffee people, we ordered hot teas. I wanted the 333 (which contained at least peppermint and chamomile), but they told me they were out of it; I raised my eyebrows during an awkward pause until the girl said they could make me something similar. The S.O. ordered peppermint. We watched the tea get scooped out of loose leaf tins into large individual bags, over which hot water was then poured into our to-go cups; in the meantime I wished there was a better displayed menu that listed all the teas we could have gotten instead of making me think that early in the morning. Still, my 333-like was excellent! We also got a blueberry muffin out of the enticing pastry case. This muffin was GOOD. Light, fluffy, moist, and not overly huge, it tasted the way I dreamed a muffin should taste - very unlike the dense, processed flavors the way, for instance, a Mimi's Café muffin, tastes. I had hoped they'd have croissants, but I didn't see any that morning. Both teas were excellent, but I think if I had to do it over again, I'd come for coffee. I learned they have all sorts of brewing methods and I'd definitely like to try some. My experience was marred only by a well-dressed but extremely RUDE young female customer. She didn't bother to go around us but instead walked right between me and the ordering counter, forcing me to step aside. At first I was looking the other way and didn't notice she had come up right against to me, and when I was startled by her presence I instinctively took a step backward. No "excuse me" out of her or anything. When she came back, again she refused to just walk behind us and cut in front of me without a word; this time I didn't move and forced her to wiggle against the counter. I hope this isn't a reflection of the general attitude of the folks in Cherry Creek or of the customers that use this shop, but then again, I've been to the CC area many times and never had a problem with the locals; I'll chalk this biotch up to a one-time thing. Overall, it's a place I'd want to take my time and experience the café. Cool but relaxed atmosphere, lots of natural lighting and a small crowd of mixed ages. I didn't think the music was loud that morning. Didn't try the WiFi so I can't comment on that. I'd come back!

Spectacular! That's basically the best word I can think to use to describe the coffee here. I wandered in here yesterday by accident, and it was the best accident I've had in a long time. To say they take espresso seriously is an understatement, they do the absolute best job they can. They use extremely good ingredients and make a provide the perfect environment to just relax and enjoy a truly good cup of coffee. Easily the best place in Denver for espresso based drinks, and coffee in general.

I originally found Aviano on yelp when I was looking for a new coffee shop, and I am a coffee and coffee-shop snob. I was incredibly happy with their atmosphere, Intelligentsia coffee, pour-overs, Chemex, and knowledgeable baristas. I go there almost weekly to study for a few hours (and enjoy incredible coffee - each coffee is made-to-order with different selections daily) and being there for a chunk of time is never an issue. Sometimes it's pretty busy and grabbing a table is hard, but worth the wait (or stare-down) in order to enjoy your coffee or espresso in a ceramic mug rather than paper (it tastes better). There are plenty of windows, on a nice day take advantage of the large patio area, and wide variety of clientele for people watching. I highly recommend this place.

Coffee is ok. I found the Maravilla, sour. Wifi supports only a few devices. Ive been in twice and both times the wifi was overloaded. When I asked the barista about it, he told me to poach off another vendor's wifi. If you want to work online in a coffee shop, this is not the place.

Fantastic open and modern design. Even better coffee and espresso. These guys know what they are doing and take it seriously. Probably not the place to get a triple venti carmel latte. Good outdoor patio as well.

The wife and I were looking for a nice cup of coffee on Sunday morning during our visit in Denver. This was the closest place to our hotel not named Starbucks so we gave it shot. And I am very glad we did! The Cherry Creek Shopping area is probably one of my favorites in the country and Aviano is right in the middle of all the action. The shop is small and cozy - what I expect from all my coffee shops. We found ourselves and seat at the bar and ordered our espresso and cappuccino. While we enjoyed our drinks, what astonished us was the guy making coffee at the Pour-Over and Brew Bar. We watched as he spent time and effort in making each order of coffee. We'll have to try that next time, because that alone seems worthy of five stars.

An excellent spot for an excellent brew. Bring your laptop if you want to just enjoy the weekend without worries of meter maids. Prices are fair and the java is probably one of the very best I've had in Denver thus far. While you would think this area would draw out a pompous crowd of rich yuppies, there's a good enough eclectic mix of folk that keep things interesting and chill. And you know how I feel about chill. Did I mention their caramel macchiatos kick ass? Highly recommended!

Aviano's coffee is quite good, and it's definitely the best coffee shop in Cherry Creek (although the new Novo on 6th isn't too far from the edge of the neighborhood). Their new space is more open and less crowded than their old one; I agree with other reviewers that they could stand to add more seating to make the shop seem less empty, especially since they have a lot of room in the back. One thing I've noticed is that their prices are slightly higher than other comparable coffee shops around town (and no, I'm not talking about Starbucks).

  • Briana G.

Everything is in alignment at this shop. All elements of the product, performance, and ambiance work together. The thing I like best is that the people are consistently friendly. You'd think there would be cherry creek attitude here...nope. Just people that are super passionate about good coffee.

I have loved my coffees I have had here before. This time the ice coffee had an off taste. Maybe it was the cream Bummer. It is a good place to either sit outside or inside. It is crowded and the latte I saw was decorated so pretty. I will try coffee here again. Maybe my taste buds were off or it could have been the iced coffee.

A great surprise on my morning walk through Cherry Creek. A friend of mine introduced me to this place and exclaimed "Let's find a real coffee shop" as we walked past a Starbucks. I chuckled a bit and wondered what was in store for me. From first step in, the atmosphere is inviting in so many ways. You have the smell of coffee, the site of comfy chairs and the warmth of the baristas greeting you. I ordered a machiatto and it was served on a small tray with a small cup of water. Taste and breadth of the machiatto was wonderful. My friend ordered a latte and even that looked great with the design of a leave carefully drawn on top. I'm looking forward to coming back. These guys honor their customers as long time friends instead of just another person walking in the door. I'm excited to try other servings when I go back!

I 'm sorry but this light roasted coffee trend is not working for me. I have looked at reviews for here, novo and intelligentsia coffee which are all the same type of coffee in terms of the light roasting methods. intelligentsia is where this place gets its beans, and i see the same across the board... best coffee bla bla bla , to me this coffee is way too acidic and it not full bodied enough for me. anyone that knows anything about coffee will tell you this. the darker the roast you have less acidity and less caffeine. the lighter the roast is the opposite. there is a balance to this but i do not find it here. the price is also the same at all these style of places. i could go on and on and I'm sure someone else could write the opposite of what I'm saying, but to me I am done going to these styles of coffee shops. when my g.f. was talking to the barista i think he mentioned it tastes like wine....yes this coffee taste very tannic due to the acidity of the light roast, i don't want my coffee to taste like wine.

The coffee is amazing and the decor is smashing. The staff is knowledgeable but a bit snaubby. They also are not consistent with pricing and it is a bit high. I have gotten the same beverage several times there and today was charged more for the same thing. They said they should have been charging me more before and too bad, I had to pay the difference. This is after the drink was already prepared. I don't mind paying for specialty coffee with the added experience of good Baristas, but the added attitude can be a bit over the top in my opinion.

Even though this place is super fancy for a cup of coffee, I really enjoyed it. So many people reading or tapping away on laptops. But this is also a great place to bring a friend or go on a date. The coffee was delicious and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.

  • Frank C.

  • Savannah R.

    (4)
  • Nathan G.

Coffee is good but somewhat overpriced. My chocolate croissant was actually crunchy and had to be at least a day or two old. Atmosphere is good for chatting with friends but it's too loud to work effectively. Croissant and small Americano was $7.75.

This place is amazing!! True baristas! Great coffee and not too overpriced, especially being in Cherry Creek! Baristas make excellent specialty beverages without adding too much milk, or flavor! Perfect coffee, even in my oversize mug!

  • Susan P.

  • Dine O.

  • Nikki M.

  • Alex M.

For the über-geeks: 1,200 KB/s downstream, 120 KB/s upstream, 48ms ping to my VPN. w00t!

Good find. Friendly people, for-real coffee and espresso, and a nice overall vibe. Lots of well dressed urbanites for your people-watching pleasure. Plus, they have legit French pastries which we will sample next time we are in!

  • Vernon R.

    (5)
  • Jason S.

  • Hopeless Coffee A.
