The food was pretty good, I tried the seafood platter (fried clams, shrimp, and white fish) and the house sauce wings. All pretty standard faire for a brewpub. I tried the porter, which was really good, and the stout, which was excellent. As I was leaving I wanted to get some stout to take home with me but that seemed to be the only one they didn't have in a bottle in the fridge.

Kids Mac 'N Cheese = 4 Stars, Kids Cheeseburger = 5 Stars, Cheeseburger = 3 Stars, Brewer's Plate = 4 Stars, Steak Fajitas = 4 Stars (mind you, I'm not a fan of super spicy food). Good food, not cheap, but not too pricy. Good service. Would eat there again.

The food is HORRIBLE and the customer service is even worse. Go for Sushi, Voted #1 resturant in Cortez (they have excellent cooked food there also) and the best beer around that comes from Dolores River Brewery. Or go Mexican, but stay away from this place.

Haven't tried the food, but the beer here is top notch. Truly one the better breweries in Colorado, which is really saying something. They have a huge selection, so there's something for everyone here, no mater what kind of beer you like. Best of all, it's not the standard over-hopped swill that far too many breweries crank out. They do offer hoppy beers for people who want them, but their list is much more diverse than that. Great beer. However, I bought a couple of my favorite beers in bottles so I could enjoy them at home and was very disappointed to find that the bottled beer tasted almost nothing like the fresh draft beer. My advice is to enjoy your beer at the brewery, but don't bother taking any home.

If you're in the mood for a beer & a hamburger, then this is the spot. 13 craft beers on tap (made in house) & a cheeseburger that had juice dripping down my hand. The service was prompt & friendly. If I'm ever in Cortez again this will be my first meal. Outstanding!

"Don't like beer, so I cannot comment on that. The grilled trout was tasty and the variety of sausages were excellent. My mashed potatoes were cold, but my server brought me some hot ones right away. Also, the beer bread was the bomb!"

Note the picture of the steak and baked potato has the "butter" type of product upside down. This was probably so you cant see that it is a margarine blend. Really? $22 for an iffy steak, unfriendly service and margarine?

We stopped in for a quick drink and appetizer on our way back from a visit to Mesa Verde (you gotta go there!). The drinks, appetizer and service were good, but what really impressed us was the grand old building and decor -- a place where you would want to hang out. Wish we had ordered a meal.

The fact that we solely walked into this place and started to seat while getting asked what we wanted right away gave them a star-up! Didn't eat here, just had beer. Their taster microbrews were good- disclaimer: not an IPA fan usually and settled on the great Dark-side- a nice beer. After reading another's YELP review, though, I want to try their Honey Rootbeer....

I've been eating here for many years. This place is always a reliable stand by for Cortez. Is there really any other place to eat there? The quality food at Main Street really varies depending on what you get but try the slow smoked ribs. Amazing! The taste will stay with you for hours. All the beer is delicious, too.

I enjoyed the place due to the beer. I had the Doppelbock and it was wonderful. I ordered the supreme pizza and it was good. I sat at the bar, and I must say, the staff were unattractive. The staff is awesome. Robi was on point and took good care of us. Mama and the kids all got pizza which was pretty good, not the best in the history of the world but very good - The sauce is heavy on the garlic side. I got a grilled chicken sandwich which was good. The brews were where it's at; the stout was delish, had a nice coffee finish. But the raspberry wheat...man that was dangerously good. Word.

I am not usually so picky, but what could have been a great meal turned out mediocre...blue cheese salad was literally drowning in water and for 10 dollars was tiny. Side salad was more dressing than salad and service was nonexistent when we expressed that we were not satisfied. I would not eat here again.

I read all of our past reviews and had my doubts about this place. But we tried it anyway on recommendations from local people. Food was outstanding service was very good Megan was an excellent server. went out of my way to tell the manager how glad I was we had stopped there to eat . Their food was outstanding fish and chips delicious. Fried shrimp platter delicious. Service was excellent food was enough for sufficient leftovers. we will be going back to eat there again.

The food was good here. Seriously. I had the pizza and on focaccia it was different and unique. The toppings appeared fresh. My wife had a chicken pasta special and said it was good The kids have gluten allergies. They each had a burger and it was cooked how we ordered. The place was clean but decorated weird. The waitress said the guy who owned it long ago had a thing for ships and the new owners just left the decor. Weird to me but unique nonetheless. I will say two things that get the 3 stars. One, the waitress was very short and didn't have much to say about selections. She seemed very put off by our questions (we live 1700 miles away) and the place was empty. Literally we were the first ones and only ones til our food showed. A little extra attention to the guests when they are new to your place (small town of Cortez) you probably know who the visitors are. Second, when you tout a great craft beer as your top seller, please have it on hand. I would have settled for it in bottles. That being said the growler of the honey blonde we took with was fantastic. Small things would have knocked the review and or experiance out of the park! Prost!

Stopped here while visiting Mesa Verde. We got the IPA and root beer, which were both very good. The food itself was good as well. As an appetizer, we got the Chile Cheese fries. My dad got the Brewers plate and I had the southwestern chicken salad. The staff was friendly and quick to seat us. The atmosphere was really cool. If I lived in this area, I would frequent this place a lot. Definitely recommend!

This was a town that felt like it appeared out of nowhere on a long car trip. We pulled into the first place that looked open. It is a cute little town and this brewery looked like all the rest I have seen. Only I will say the signs with the funny sayings lining the wall were great. Me and dad ordered the ribeye staeak and husband had the salmon. It was not bad at all. They brought out fresh cooked bread while we waited, which wasn't too long. The portions are average. I could have told them the minute my dad ordered a steak it was going back to the kitchen. He is very picky about seeing any blood and this was really medium rare. They were nice about it to him, but I could see the cooks window as it was becoming an issue why it was back, but then it went smooth and they cooked it perfect. The staff is friendly, service fast. you can't ask for more than that, oh you could.. and good food. As a note, watch for traffic getting in your car if you park out front on street. I had gotten into my car when there was not a car in sight and as I put my hand on the door to close it, a pickup truck, flying by, grazed the top of the door with it's mirror. It was a rental I was driving, and it peeled the trim back, not impressed. Then for a small town, it was really busy traffic, but died down, as the other light changed.

Had to make a last minute decision on our cross country road trip when our first pick in Cortez was mysteriously closed at 7pm (the farm bistro). Food was decent in nost cases but service...wait there was service? Yeah it was that bad. Waiter was a low talker and mostly blankly stared at us. Ambiance is klichy and eclectic. Wouldn't come back or recommend. Waiter forgot our child's meal and then after handing us her food on our way out the door he still charged us for it...classy. Burgers and french dip were good, cooks hustled and we're friendly, fish and fries were tasty, nachos were lacking flavor and we're not fresh chips, pizza was nothing spectacular. Drinks were fun. Save your money and eat some place that has better customer service. Soda and meals for 6 people was $100. Definately not worth it.

The beer is by far the best thing about the restaurant but the food isn't terrible either. Every time I've eaten here I've been seated quickly by courteous staff. Great selection of delicious draft beers and while the food isn't phenomenal it's tasty and goes well with the beers. The French Dip sandwich is good as are the burgers. The building is a cool older building with some nice mural art on the walls.

Eh, I think I liked the building better. Look up at the old roof. This building is straight out of a long ago era. Beautiful- I think they knocked down a wall and combined two very old places. We thought it might be an old bank. Anyhow, the ambiance was awesome. The food? Not super memorable. My dad's girlfriend had a chicken sandwich but asked for no bread- she said it was very dull on its own, but then I suppose the bread helps that. She also had fries. My dad had a bangers and mash (three huge plump sausages and mashed potatoes) and he couldn't quite finish it all. I am trying to remember what I had, and can't. And this was just over a week ago. I remember a scoop or two of potato salad. I believe I had a burger of some kind. Service was just normal. Perhaps if I had ordered a beer or two I would have experienced the brewery to its fullest capability.

Wavering on the side of darker beer, I loved the combo of Schnorzenboomer Amber Doppelbock & Porter and Honey-Bunny loved the Doppelbock! We are foodies and member/owners of our local beer co-op and sample beer throughout our travels. This place has great potential & if I lived here, you would find my butt cheeks on a bar stool! 5 stars for this area!

We hit Main St Brewery on a late Tuesday afternoon while visiting Mesa Verde National Park. It's housed in a cool old building which formerly housed a JC Penny, if I remember correctly. Funky yet stylish decor with an interesting mural on the bar side. I had their Blond seasonal ale which was OK but not exceptional since it was a little heavier on the diacetyl than I prefer in a good blond. My wife had their Heffeweizen. Excellent grain taste, good banana yeast taste, but not overpowering, and good carbonation. All in all, a well made Hefe. I ordered the steak fajita, and my wife ordered the trout. They were out of the trout, so she switched to the ribs. My fajita was very good, but a little too cooked after sitting on the fajita plate for a few minutes. The portion was very good for the price, and definitely worth trying. Her ribs were exceptional. I like all kinds of BBQ, and her ribs were not the "fall off the bone" kind, but had an outstanding smokey flavor and the portion was HUGE! If you're in the area and looking for a local brew pub, I definitely recommend giving Main Street Brewery a try. Good service, good portions, and reasonably good beer.

Place to get a bite on a trip to Mesa Verde National Park. We got the shrimp platters, and New York steak with a baked potato. One waitress in the whole place had a hard time keeping up with drinks (the beer was great and tasted most totally excellent after a day of hiking in the nearby park) and food. When our food arrived it was no longer hot, but warm - kind of took the edge of a potentially great meal. The setting was cool, and the place decorated with style. If we go back to Mesa Verde we'll definitely stop in for some beer at the end of a hard day hiking.

Review for beer only. They had 11 beers on tap. 2 which were seasonal. All Berra tasted pretty good. Im not much on an IPA fan. Most of their beers are not bitter. Dark side was my favorite. I got 4 oz taster of all 11 an an order of fies. Fries were seasoned and really good. Our table was sticky and dirty. Good beer, location a little dirty. Service was so so.

Been here three times over the course of five years. Solid burgers and lasagna. The Mesa Cervesa microbrews are some of the best I've had anywhere. That, plus the homemade Honey Rootbeer make it well worth the stop.

My bf and I did a national park and brewery tour of the four corners area and stopped here after visiting Mesa Verde one weekend. It was around 3pm and not very busy, so we got prompt service. I tried the honey raspberry wheat beer, which was delicious! It was light, crisp and refreshingly fruity! I ordered the pork cubano sandwich and the bf got a burger. The pork in my sandwich was moist, flavorful and super filling! The burger was a regular burger, nothing jaw-dropping about it. Could have sat there and had beer all day if I weren't so full from the food. They do have growlers, so we took an empty one home for a souvenir.

My dining companion (okay, so it was my mom) and I arrived shortly before closing and were afraid we might not be seated. However, we were greeted enthusiastically, assured we would still be served, immediately told the specials and shown to a table. Huzzah! Unfortunately, this was the best part of our experience. Our waiter (a young/college-age-ish guy) disappeared for long periods of time. Since we were quite literally the only table in his section--indeed, the only diners left in the whole dining area--I'm not sure how he could've forgotten about us. But we never got silverware (I yoinked some from another table), our water glasses were never refilled, and we had to ask another passing waitress to pick up my soup when he forgot to bring it out with the rest of our meal, assured me he'd be right back with it, and then went AWOL for a full 10min. As for the food, it was okay but nothing to write home about. The bread we received with our meal was cold and hard. It had a dense texture and nice flavor that I'm sure was delicious when fresh and warm, but the effect was lost entirely. Mom's salmon had a very nice flavor but was visibly overcooked (an easy mistake to make with fish). I ordered the Nutty Blue salad (greens, walnuts, blue cheese dressing, and cranberries). It was tasty--the walnuts were excellent and the blue cheese dressing was nice and chunky. However, the lettuce/greens were still dripping wet from being washed which watered down the dressing... but at least I know they washed 'em, right? Finally, my green chili and corn chowder was delicious but bordering on cold by the time I actually received it (see previous paragraph). All in all, the meal had tremendous potential but under-delivered. :-/ Perhaps these things would not have occurred if we'd dined earlier. Perhaps the cook was just ready to be done for the night. But why keep the kitchen open if you're not going to offer the late customers the same experience as the earlier diners? Between the mediocre service and the meh food, I can't say I'd eat here again, but the drink menu looked intriguing so perhaps it's still worth a second chance in the future. All in all, Main Street Brewery has potential, but tonight I can't say it delivered.

Probably the best choice in Cortez outside of the few Mexican places. Average bar/brewery food. Food was hot and came out in average time. Pizza was good and so were the burgers. They do have Rocky Mountain Oysters, which are delicious and hard to find in restaurants. Beer was good, mixed drinks were good. Overall we'd go back, but it isn't going to knock your socks off. It is very good for the town you're in though, so take that into consoderation. We ate at other places during the 3 day we were there, and came back here twice.

We wandered downtown Cortez looking for a place to eat and ending up at the Main Street Brewery where we enjoyed ourselves. We were adventurous and ordered two of their unusual house specialties. We had the Bratwurst Burrito and Green Chili Stew. Both were interesting and good.. The Honey Raspberry Wheat beer was great - we had two. It's not sweet, and the berry flavor lingers on your tongue for a long time. Many other beers were also on-tap. There were many families with children eating late on a Friday evening. Friendly service and comfortable atmosphere.

Locally owned, locally made. Cortez is a great place to stop on the way up to the mountains from Phoenix. The service is always fast and friendly. They aren't re-inventing the wheel or anything but good place for a beer and a burger.

I had dinner at the Main Street Brewery while staying in Cortez during a visit to Mesa Verde National Park. We were promptly seated and had decent waitress service during our meal. Main Street Brewery has a good selection of beer, particularly a number of German and American style beers. I ordered the Brewer's Plate for dinner, which is a sausage platter, and that was tasty. The main drawback was that the table was sticky. Our server said that the stickiness of the table was due to the humidity affecting the lacquer. Not sure if I'd buy that, though, which really affected the restaurant's rating.

This place is an eccentric little brewery in an eccentric little town. We stayed in the National 9 motel and chose the Main Street Brewery because it was within walking distance and offered beer. We were seated immediately and had solid service throughout. Note that water must be requested; it's not poured automatically for you. One standout feature of the brewery is the fantasy mural painted above the bar; it includes the NCC1701-D and a nude woman. We were entertained throughout our meal by picking out the handpainted elements in that mural. Quotes are painted on the walls throughout the restaurant, giving you something to look at during the quiet moments (I'm not giving extra stars for this, though, since it has nothing to do with the F&B). I had the linguine with mussels, but was unimpressed. My companions were satisfied with their selections, however (pizza & burritto), so this may just be a case of staying away from seafood options in a landlocked state. For beer, I ordered a Black & Tan, which came all mixed together instead of having a clear delineation between the black and the tan. It tasted great, though. If I were to pass through the area again, I'd definitely give this place another chance; the beef items listed on the menu specified grass fed beef, which looks delicious. There is potential!

Worst dining experience ever. If possible I would give this place negative stars. We decided to stop in here for dinner because we were starving and didn't want fast food and this was one of the few places open past 9:30 on a Saturday night that we could see. Their special that night was the prime rib with focaccia bread and grilled vegetables. Last time I checked when someone says they are serving veggies it usually more than one kind, not just zucchini, which honestly was the only flavorful thing on the plate. The focaccia was hard as a rock and bland. The prime rib was still mooing at me even though I asked for it medium well. The mashed potatoes were not mashed at all, with huge chunks and no flavor at all. Our server looked like she didn't want to be there, there was a play pen I the women's bathroom which was a little weird the stalls were so tiny my knees were almost against the door sitting and I'm 5'2. My husband ordered the cheeseburger and that too was way undercooked, it came out rare when he asked for medium well. So I guess if you want undercooked flavorless crap on a plate this is your best bet.

Sorry for the terse review. We spent nearly 7 hours at Mesa Verde and I can barely see straight. The ambience is great. The beer is great. The food is good enough to justify coming for the beer. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. You know, the kind that makes you wish you weren't middle-aged and out to dinner with your parents.

I don't know what to say about this place. The food was decent. The beer I had was awesome. It was the double boch. What rubbed me the wrong way was the over rude waitress. When we got our bill I asked if she over charged us for drinks. She took offense. It was a simple question. I had the wings. They were nothing to write home about. I also tried the Rocky Mtn Oysters which was a first for me. They just tasted like breaded veal and the portion I got was not generous.

We stopped at the Main Street Brewery a few days ago at around 9:30. The owner came up to greet us and asked if we were there to eat. Apparently the kitchen had recently shut down for the night. After only a slight pause, he asked if burgers would be alright, as he could throw those on the grill pretty quickly. We agreed, and were seated immediately. Throughout or meal (pretty good burgers - especially on short notice), the owner would stop by our table frequently and chat (in addition to the attentive and friendly waitress). Not once were we rushed, even though it was obvious we were going to be their last customers of the night. Now, I'm normally a sucker for places that brew their own beer, and often make excuses or tolerate mediocre beer at such establishments... but none of that was needed here! The beer was fantastic, especially the Uber-Pils. We even left with a bottle or two to take home (and I wish we had bought more). If you find yourself in Cortez, check this place out. I guarantee it is the best dining experience for many, many miles in any direction. And don't forget to try their home-brewed honey root beer!

I stopped by for a sampling of beer. The beers were not particularly noteworthy, except for the porter which was very smooth and very good. Service wasn't particularly friendly. Mural was very cool.

Decor: colorful and whimsical murals with fantasy and sci-fi elements. Brews: pretty good representations of several styles, including a concentration of German beers such as their appropriately strong Schnorzen Boomer Doppelbock. I loved their Maibock. They also mix several unusual blends, such as a doppelbock/amber ale. A few beers are bottled for sale as "Mesa Cerveza," and anything on tap can be poured into a bomber. Food: eclectic but mediocre menu. My Vienna sausage burrito was an interesting experiment, but not one I would repeat. The pub food appetizers were pretty good, but attempts at seafood fell flat.

We came upon this place while visiting Mesa Verde. The beer is great, the food not so much. I ordered a pasta with vegetables, it was so waterlogged that I needed an extra bowl to drain it. My boyfriend ordered the toughest ribs you ever tried to chew. I recommend this place for the beer and the decor. I loved the paintings and sayings on the walls! The service was slow but friendly.

I enjoy the beer that they brew here. Their motto is "Avoid Heart Attacks, Drink Beer" You gotta love sound advice like that. Cortez isn't a town known for its fine dining so if you are stopping by on your way to the four corners, monument valley, mesa verde, telluride, the san juan mountains or all of the above, this is some good food to put in your belly before the real adventure begins. Speaking of real adventure, Rocky Mountain Oysters are on the menu here. So if you really wanna try something new...Last time I came here I told a friend that if he ordered them, I would pick up the bill. When they came to the table he was about to eat them without knowing what they were and I just couldn't bring myself to do that. After informing him that the Rocky Mountains don't have ACTUAL oysters, he shrugged and proceeded to enjoy his free lunch. Tastes like chicken-from what I hear.

Had one of the specials of the day. The special was "chicken picatta". The chicken was basically overcooked, tough and stringy. The sauce tasted like it was just thickened lemon juice. Spoke with the owner and he didn't seem interested at all that I wasn't happy with my meal. The least he could have done was to take it off my bill... If you are just passing through don't expect them to care if you enjoyed your meal or not.

I flew from Denver to Cortez and, having spent the whole day travelling and having had nothing to eat but a bag of Doritos Nacho Cheese chips served on Frontier (eaten in desperation and thrown up a few hours later), I was ravenous. It was a brewery and the sign outside advertised steak from their own grass-fed herd, so as a vegetarian, I thought this might have potential. So, the Main Street Brewery is not particularly remarkable. After the puking episode, I wasn't about to try the beer, but they seem to make many varieties. The salad was not a glorious creation, but it was perfectly edible; the focaccia was not tempting enough for me to try; and the pizza was tasty, if not beautiful or astonishing. It was good pub food. Slowish service, but very nice, and a great amount of local atmosphere. It's a cool old building with all sorts of neat old photos and remnants, and it sure beats patronizing one of the globalized chains starting to choke Cortez's city limits. You will find it around the corner from Rowdy Red Bandanna Gift Basket Co. Ha!

I've tried to sample the beer at this place twice. Once they were closed (on a Tuesday at 5 p.m.). A few weeks ago they were open, but I never got close to getting a beer. We came in about 3p.m. on a Saturday and the place was far from busy. There were 3 servers waiting the few tables that were dining. We sat at the bar and watched as the servers filled at least 10 beers for those sitting at the tables. Not one of them could be bothered to ask us if we wanted either a beer or a menu. After about 15 minutes I determined they just did not like my money and I left. If I'm back in Cortez and I want a beer I would ABSOLUTELY skip this dump and drive to Dolores where they actually seem to like you and will serve you a frosty beverage. I'll NEVER go back!! If I could give it negative stars I would.

We were given good reviews from different sources about this restaurant we thought we would try during our 3 day stay in the Cortez area. Don't bother. My husband ordered a steak asking their definition of rare and medium rare. Based on their description he ordered medium rare. It came well done. They replaced it but with a different cut as they were out of what he ordered. It look a long time for it to arrive. It was cooked to his liking but there was no flavor. I ordered the linguine with mussels. The mussels were pre-cooked and then reheated when added to the pasta. I could tell not only because the shells were still ice cold to the touch and the mussels were tough after being reheated. The pasta itself was okay but very salty. I cannot comment on the beer as we are not beer drinkers, wine list is mediocre had better lists in Utah.
