Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Being a native New Mexican and having been deprived for 20 years of New Mexican mexican food, the food here is amazing. I ordered lunch, dinner to go, and tamales to take on the plane with me. That is how good the food is. Not to mention it took everything I had not to lick the lunch plate. I would pay to have the salsa shipped to me in DC if I could. It is all fresh and homemade. You have to try it. The hours are limited but it really is a small family business-give them a break and just enjoy the great food.

Wow this was a find! Looks to be mostly take out, but there are 5 tables and we chose to stay. Had New Mexican, the green chile is very very good, just a touch of spice. The ladies running the place were super friendly and helpful. This is our go-to spot when driving through now. Didn't have the burgers but they looks huge and really good, will try that next time. Don't let the building turn you away, nothing fancy but the effort is clearly on the food here. Very reasonable prices as well. Enjoy!

The green chili, burgers, and fries are amazing! We will be back for sure! It's a major plus that it's a local spot too.

This place is the definition of a whole in the wall. But they have the best sloppers on earth. Don't go for the atmosphere go for the slopper.

Love the food here. However, don't ever crave vi's because chances are..they're closed. I have called to order food maybe six times in the last three weeks, only to be let down. I have realized that if it is cold outside, even just chilly outside, they will stay home. I cannot recommend a place to anybody that may or may not be open depending on how the owner feels that day.

Decent for the price and reminiscent of the flavor of a 1950's diner, but that's a good thing. Dining "closet" seats up to 5 people as they typically create food to-go. Burger is amazingly ample and juicy without being greasy. About the size of Conway's Red Top used to make except about 5 times as "thick". Mexican-based the burger is flavored pre-frying which is good and has a good garlic and seasoned flavor. Probably in the top 5 burgers in-town and has been open for 30 years. Definitely worth a go, though be advised the "chili" they serve is more of a chili "sauce" than what Americans consider chili (ie. beans, meat, etc.) and is a bit strong, though if you like King's Chef Diner's pseudo-chili made from habaneros you're good to go.

Five stars for good food. Not for the diet conscious! Really good burgers & New Mexico cuisine. As for atmosphere & dinning in... It's the typical hole in the wall, two table diner. I'd love it if they were open for dinner! Best of all though, they are not far from my home. Very nice service!!!

I've never been so conflicted in my life. The food was excellent but the atmosphere left A LOT to be desired. Like Sheldon's Luncheonette before them, a gift certificate brought me to the front steps of Vi's. It's not meant to be fine dining - I get it. Even the store front window said "Hamburger Take-out," but I was in the mood to sit in and eat. If I had to sum it up in one sentence: It's like eating at home except your home is nicer. I had their signature Giant Hamburger while my partner partook of their New Mexican side - a beef and bean stuffed sopapilla. He couldn't stop raving about how creamy and delicious the green chili was and I, well I loved my hamburger and fresh cut fries. It was perfectly greasy and homemade. The down side: a cold dining room with a couple of dirty tables (that we had to step over the Kirby vacuum to get to) and drab white walls. The laments of toddlers rang out from the kitchen and in fact, one of them actually came and cleaned up our table when we were finished. In summary, Vi's has great food, is reasonably priced and I'll go back for sure but next time I'll take the window's suggestion and take it to go.

BEST Slpooer around anywhere. Quaint little joint shrt on ambience, but if you are into the food more than the atmosphere, this is the place for you. Everything on the menu is awesome and they will adjust your order upon request. I like my Sloper with Pepper Jack cheese only (cheddar allergy) and extra jalapenos on top and that's the way they make it for me. Super nice folks too. Call ahead and you can pick up your order to go :)

Best Chili Rellenos I've ever had...ANYWHERE!! I liked the green chili, but red is favored by some.Really nice folks. Dining area is small, but recently repainted--not fine dining, but damn good food. Stuffed soppaipillas are good, as is the GIANT (12oz??)burger--call ahead for the Rellenos, because they often run out.
