Doug’s Day Diner Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Alright I'm pretty sure I found my new favorite diner! What a great place for breakfast and I can't wait to try the lunch menu. Went on a Saturday morning and had about a 15 min wait, that doesn't bother me because I know at 9:00am any place worth it is going to have a wait for breakfast. By 9:30 I'm sure there was a 30-45 minute wait so get there earlier than 9:30. Ordered the Rancher which is a breaded steak (chicken fried steak) with three eggs, biscuit and hash browns. Too much to eat...the plate was huge! Peeps I was with ordered the Hillbilly and pancakes. All of it was great and he homemade sausage was legit!! Can't wait to go back and try it again! The menu isn't huge but there is enough to make anyone happy. The was good, as the hostess was more than accommodating and the waiter was never behind on refills or anything we needed. Great place that I highly recommend!!!

Was invited to try this on a Thursday morning before we checked out the Broncos last public training camp day. I had the "Taos" plate which was delicious. I'm a green chile snob who buys it by the bushel (always hold the tomatoes mine please!) and this was excellent. Taos plate is a mound of hash brown style potatoes loaded with ground turkey and very tasty chorIzo. I asked for basted eggs and the waitress wasn't rattled at all (sometimes this happens when you ordered basted eggs). Give this place a try! I couldn't eat it all.

Pros: - 1/2 size options on pretty much all entrees. - can get blueberry or other varied "cakes" at same price as regular. - speaking of cakes, you only need one. platter size ridiculousness, trust me on this one. -fries and hashbrowns real deal, fresh, not fake, battered, none of that. - green chili does not have pork for all you "kosher style" eaters such as myself Con: - coffee is weak as hell. been here twice now and sorely disappointed each time. food will keep me coming back, its that good!

The family and I love Doug's! The portions are HUGE, the quality is good, and in the words of Bob Barker "The Price is Right!". Most breakfast entrees come with one of their unique griddle biscuits which are MASSIVE. You can get it either with a side of homemade apple butter or strawberry jam. I suggest the apple butter and i suggest asking for extra. It comes in one of those small tartar sauce cups you typically see on a buffet line--not quite enough for that massive biscuit. The only deduction is for the hashbrowns. I'm not a huge fan. They remind me of those sketch browns for The Waffle House--except I'm pretty sure these are made of real potatoes. But still, they don't have the type of crisp factor that I enjoy in a hashbrown.

This diner is right next to my house and is really good. It's very affordable and very cozy. I love going here.

This is a great spot with some fantastic breakfast. The potato bowls, or whatever they're called, are very good. There's a ton of variety and I like the fact it's intimate with bar stools and tables wherever. We go on the weekends and it's one of few places I'll wait for breakfast. By 9a, it's usually a 15-20 minute wait, after that, come at your own risk. One issue is the entryway, people tend to crowd and if it's cold outside, the door is constantly opening and closing. If you're sitting at the bar, keep your coat on! This place is worth a stop, plan on eating a lot and leaving full, probably won't need lunch if you eat breakfast here.

  • Cynthia T.

This place is amazing! They only serve breakfast and lunch so get there early. Their dishes are a little unusual from the standard breakfast menu. Well worth the wait. Don't pass this place up, stop in and have one of the best meals you had in a long time. The service is also top notch, friendly welcoming and quick.

Whenever I come to Denver, this is one of my favorite breakfast stops! The food is plentiful, so come hungry. The pancakes are huge, fluffy and have a hint of vanilla. The griddle biscuits - well, just yummy. I was concerned to hear the ownership had changed, but luckily, the food is till as great. (Judging by the crowd waiting to get in - should be a great testament to the food quality!).

Stopped by here the other day for a quick breakfast. The food was very good, and all components (including hash browns) seemed to be made totally from scratch. Prices were standard for a good breakfast - not excessive, but not quite "diner" level pricing either ($10ish per plate). The place was very well staffed, I counted at least 5-6 employees, but the service at my table was somewhat inattentive. My coffee ran dry on a couple of occasions and I had to have someone down for assistance. There were lots of servers, but many of them appeared to be chatting with other servers rather than attending to their tables. All told, I'll be back for the food, but the spotty service is standing in the way of a 5 star. I'll update this if I have a different experience next time.

I normally don't eat a big breakfast. I normally don't eat out for a big breakfast. I normally don't drive 10 miles to eat a big breakfast. But... I can be social. I can be coaxed. I can (and do) get hungry. This review is for my friends. This review is for hanging with friends. They all love this place. They all love the size and taste of this food. I like this place, but... It is fun to see their eyes as the food is served. Good food. Big quantity. Great service. Good Coffee. Try the "Cowboy Papa's" and go half green and half red. You will be happy. You will smile.

My wife can only eat gluten free and dairy free options, when we got there we thought they could not accommodate her restrictions but actually they went beyond our expectations to accommodate her eating restrictions and the meal was amazing. Friendly staff and great food. The drizzle was out of this world the hash browns were fresh and delicious plus Mackenzie our waitress was wonderful overall a great experience

DO IT! Doug's Day Diner is legit. 2L2Q, actually. The prices are awesome, and the food is ridiculously good. This is like the King's Chef of Parker (bonus points if you get the reference). The thick cut bacon, mmmmmmmmmmmmm! Urban legend has it that the owner flies in his mom once a month to make the jams and apple butter. There may be a wait but it is worth it.

What an amazing welcome-to-Denver-first-breakfast spot! I had a gold standard in Reno for breakfast, and I'm happy to say that Doug's may have exceeded even that standard. We got there before a big rush. It took about 10 minutes to seat us, but it went by quickly. The service here is very friendly and accommodating. Doug had me at "homemade New Mexican food." I consider New Mexican food to be some of my very favorite in all the land, and Doug's staff exceeded all expectations. I ordered the Cowboy Papas (potatoes), no cheese or eggs, with Christmas sauce - red and green chili mix. I was able to sub the best biscuit ever for the eggs - light, fluffy, flaky, and chock full of flavor. The potatoes were delicious, speckled with sausage, bacon, and ham, and smothered in the most delicious sauces ever. My husband had the chicken fried steak, and I took a few bites, almost wishing I'd ordered that because it was the best CFS I believe I've ever tasted. I would go back tomorrow if I could!

The food was decent, but unfortunately the service was not great. We sat in the little bar area and the workers decided to start prepping for the next day right in front of us. Really? There is a huge counter area, you had to do it where the two people were sitting? slapping butter and getting jam everywhere. Talk about awkward, I felt like I was being rushed with them doing that in front of me. I had hot sauce and another worker decided to start cleaning all the bottles in front of us as well and without asking if I was done she took my hot sauce! I still had food on my plate crazy lady! It's expensive here 2, I would never come back.

Some of the best scratch made food. We frequently go here for breakfast. If you want to go for breakfast on the weekend get there early because it starts to fill up!

I've heard some pretty great things about the diner, so I stopped in for breakfast the other day with some friends. This place is situated right in my neighborhood and it's a mom and pop establishment; right down my alley. It was a Wednesday morning and there were plenty of tables available. I've heard the wait can be long if you go during the weekend. Parking is ample and the restaurant itself was really cute. They had children's artwork all along the back wall near the kitchen and military signs up along the other walls. I've heard their burgers are great, but I was there pretty early in the day, so I opted for breakfast instead. I order the Pavo omelette (ground turkey sausage, bell peppers, pesto and cheese) and subbed for egg whites with a side of browns extra crispy and the griddle biscuit with strawberry jam. One of my friends told me that the grandma of the owner comes in once a year and makes all the jam for the restaurant for the entire year. I can't confirm or deny that. BUT, I will say that my jam was DELICIOUS. The omelette was fluffy and full of delicious fillings and the browns were great (but who can mess up hash browns?). The star of my plate however was the griddle biscuit. It was huge, buttery and soft. I would highly recommend adding this to your plate if you go. One of my friends ordered the biscuits and gravy. I have to say, the gravy is very robust and flavorful. Another friend bought a side of regular pancakes. The pancake was enormous for a single serving. With the butter and syrup, I kid you not, it tasted like a Krispy Kreme doughnut. My only gripe about this place was our waitress. It was hard to read her. While she was attentive and very helpful, she didn't really seem like she wanted to be there and was a little short with us (or that's what it seemed like) at times. Overall, this place is definitely a hidden gem. I plan on going back for more.

My family has come here often (in fact, my wife reviewed it much better than I did back in June). We are from Albuquerque, and I guess this is the new concept by a guy that started Weck's down there. Maybe I am holding "Doug" to too high of a standard. It was not so bad, I am not saying that I would never come back, but it will not be my first choice. For starters, the service was very bleh. I accidentally walked down a hallway looking for the bathroom (I had not idea where I was going, so I was kind of gently poking around - not acting like I owned the place). In return, some server bit my head off. Our server was not near as rude, but she was not a ray of bright sunshine either. The food was a huge disappointment. I had the bowl of Papas. I liked the way the potatoes are irregularly cut and grated kind of thick. But, there were some mixed in that were just raw. The carne asada was huge chunk of meat that was very tough. I loved their green chile, however, it was fantastic. Overall, it was not bad, but I am not thrilled, for sure.

Big portions of classic breakfast dishes and fun mixed breakfast dishes with options for smaller sizes as well! Nice options for kids meals also. Will be back to try some sweet options and the smothered fries!

The first time I was at Doug's I think I was hungrier than this time. I met a friend for brunch and our server was very patient and accommodating, recognizing that he wasn't going to be able to turn our table over quickly. So he mostly let us be. Instead of breakfast, I opted for the spicy Reuben. It came piled with corned beef and I loved the spicy slaw that was on it. It was a really nice combination and, like all of the food here at Doug's, very filling. Definitely try their homemade chips - they are terrific! The warnings are true: weekends will have you waiting for a seat. Mid-week, though, the place is a bit more laid back so you can enjoy a big, satisfying and leisurely breakfast or lunch. It's a great little neighborhood joint.

Skip the chain restaurants and have a meal that leaves you very satisfied. Its a great spot for breakfast if you have company in town and wanna give them something special. Prices and service are great too. Everything really is tasty and I think Im gonna go here every weekend !

Went here when our usual breakfast spot was packed and we were heading down south anyway. I remembered seeing some Yelp friends check in here so decided to give it a whirl. We got there at the perfect time as a 20 minute wait on a Saturday is more than reasonable. The hostess was really flustered and told us they could not seat anyone at the 4 empty tables. The standing room only diners were quickly getting restless and kept going up to her so we were lucky enough to soon be seated. Once seated service was super fast and our server was super friendly and efficient. She was very attentive when we explained my husband's food allergies - always a concern when trying a new place. The place was packed and there were a good 20 people standing and waiting for tables by the time we were seated. We settled in for a bit of a wait when suddenly our food appeared - fast! We were impressed at the speed. The bacon- oh the bacon - thick cut, pan baked goodness. I drooled a little thinking about it. This is not a light breakfast (of course a light breakfast was an option I did not choose) and definitely more of a nice weekend treat. A large biscuit with homemade strawberry jam - delish. Tons of hash browns and eggs cooked perfectly over medium. Pricing was pretty reasonable for the amount of food received.

This place is awesome! I came here on a Sunday around 9ish and was able to get seated at the counter right away. It appeared that parties with 3+ had a bit of a wait, but I think it's certainly worth the wait. The coffee was good, it wasn't watered down and weak like most restaurants, the service was friendly and the food was really good! Their bacon was big and thick and the Sharon omelette was packed with vegetables. The place itself isn't too large, but it's a great place to get breakfast. The only bad thing about my experience was that I got my sweater caught on some random hook thing by the podium which is not DDD's fault. I'm looking forward to going back.

So this morning started like most Sunday's. When to get out of bed, what to do when I got out of bed, what to eat. I noticed a friend online and shortly afterwards we decided to meet for some breakfast. Any excuse to get out of house work right? We decided to meet at a place he had been many times, but would be a first for me. I had driven past this spot several times in the last few years but never stopped. It was bustling on a Sunday morning. A waiting line out the door, which I have been told is normal most any time. We didn't have to wait long for a seat at the counter. Everyone was buzzing around, and plates were hurried out of the kitchen piled with food. The menu is small compared to most diners I have been to which is nice because you don't have to peruse it forever to find something you think you might want. My eyes were wide from all the things I saw going in and out of the kitchen. So much looked so good, it was going to be hard to decide for sure. Our waitress Linda was really nice, very personable. I ordered a cup of tea and the B&G. B&G??? Biscuits and Gravy, this is normally served with 2 eggs. As I can't eat eggs and ordered it - the eggs, Linda quickly asked if I would like to substitute hash browns for the eggs. Yes Please. I thought that was great, as must places you go will not offer up something to replace eggs. As we sat and chit chatted waiting for our orders I started to notice things. Purple things, Purple Mugs, Purple napkins and little pops of Purple in different places. I thought it was neat that instead of the standard restaurant supply white or beige they went with a color. To me it was a nice touch. What we found really funny, but in an odd way kinda nice. Linda brought our check WAY before we were even served. Now this in no way took away from her attention to us. She was right there to refill my hot water, and even came back to have a little personable chat. Breakfast was served. It's been a long time since I have had B&G and it was oh so good. The biscuits were enormous and great quality. They were grilled before had to give them a nice crisp top and a little extra flavor. The gravy was not overly salted as you find in a lot of places. It was a great consistency, not to thin and not to thick.. For me it was just right. The hash browns were awesome as well, not overly cooked but crisp and ample in portion size. There was so much I had to take half of it home to be enjoyed later. It was a great experience over all, I can't wait to get back there for lunch.

I believe they may have a grandmother locked up in the basement of this establishment in order to make such wonderful home cooked meals. I was thoroughly impressed with everything my husband and I ordered. Everything I tasted had a different flavor and nothing was bland. My favorite was the home made jam. It was probably the best jam I have ever tasted in my life. Delicious. And to top this amazing experience off: the service was outstanding. I will be telling every one about Doug's Diner and what a present time I had there.

I met a friend here one random Sunday morning and I had two things on my mind: Thick cut bacon and biscuits & gravy. I'd been to the FoCo location a number of times so I my expectations were high. After a very short wait for our counter table for two (Hey, I'm hungry - the counter holds a plate just as well as a table) was ready and our waitress made us feel welcome right away. Yes she came with a side of sass as Doug's promises. I went for the big dish - the Hill Billy. It comes with three eggs or bacon or sausage and I wish I had chosen the bacon. Three eggs cooked anyway you want is a lot of egg. The bacon is so thick and apple-woody and savory it's kind of like having a small religious experience. My friend had the simple biscuits and gravy dish (which along with most of their dishes is really large enough for two breakfasts) and she enjoyed it. Everything was fresh and the service was great - never had an empty glass and there was no waiting on ceremony for our check - it came before our food did! Hey, they have to turn tables pretty quickly during their rushes, it's how they stay in business and let us order more B&G. Like tomorrow.

Went in this morning set on griddle biscuits, but the delivery from Fort Collins had not yet arrived even though the restaurant had been open for 2 hours. Would've gone somewhere else had I known the restaurant's signature item was not in stock. I understand that these things happen, but a warning before ordering would've been nice. A toast substitute just doesn't cut it!

First time that my husband and I visited this restaurant and the food was abundant and delicious. They serve the food on platters not plates, so go hungry. We will be returning to try other menu items.

This place really loads your plate with lots of potatoes. Most of breakfast entree will have base of seasoned potatoes topped with different things. I really liked their thick cut bacon or half order of biscuits and gravey. You can also get burritos with two different kinds of sauces. Expect some waitings during the busy breakfast hours. Friendly staff, reasonably priced meals, lots of food..

So I chose the diner off the Yelp review and we were not disappointed! We got there literally 3 minutes before close (didn't realize) and they sat us with a smile. The waitress was friendly and engaging. Needless to say ever reviewer was correct....the food is pretty amazing. I will definately come back when I visit the area!

Doug's Day Diner is great...just go already! Great homemade food. If it was any more from scratch they'd have to lay their own eggs. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. Really good country gravy and green chili. Comfort food at its finest!

  • Dave P.

I've heard about this place for a while from family and friends, but never had the time to go, so the other day I found time, and boy was it good! The service was excellent, and the coffee kept coming! Here is why you should go: * Locally sourced ingredients. This makes a world of difference to the quality. * Handmade, from scratch...everything! The biscuits are made, then put on the griddle to crust up...mix that with gravy, eggs, bacon and hash browns, and it's heaven on a plate! Don't like gravy on your biscuits? Try the jam...it is made by the owners mom! Yea...you gotta try that, right! This location is in Aurora, but he is opening like 3 more all around. If you see one, go in...Don't think, just go in. Even if you are not hungry, go in...Get something, eat what you can, and take the rest home. It is your moral imperative! Oh, and the prices are very reasonable too!

I came here with a group of 6 people for breakfast. I ordered a sort of skillet breakfast with eggs, green chile, chorizo and mushrooms (substituted for onions) served over hash browns. Also had coffee. Service was very good. We were seated promptly, drinks were often refilled and the service was mostly polite. The only glitch was toward the end of my meal, someone came and took my plate, which still had a few bites of food on it. Honestly, I was done eating, but you'd think they would ask first? Strange. I would definitely recommend Doug's for breakfast!

Visiting family this week and we came here after church on Sunday. It was busy and we had to wait(party of 5 +baby). After about a 15 min wait, we were seated and promptly were served our coffee! Nice way to start any breakfast in my opinion. Great menu- not too many choices to be overwhelming, but enough of a variety. I had the 'drizzle omelet' - I had never had blue cheese on an omelet before, but I will be from now on! LOVED the meal.

This place is FANTASTIC! Happened across Doug's while visiting family in Centennial over the Holidays and didn't know what to expect. The decor is pleasant, but nothing super special. Our server was spot-on. The food was the very high point. My son and I both ordered eggs, pancakes and bacon. The bacon was cooked to perfection, the pancakes were large, fluffy and had whole blueberries in them. I will definitely visit Doug's the next time I am in the area!

What can I say that hasn't been said? The food is just ridiculously good! The biscuits have great flavor and density, homemade jams and syrups, perfect potatoes piled high, and oh, that green chili! And the serving sizes? You may think like I did at first that "Day Diner" referred to the hours of operation. That very well may be, but I've got it in my head it has more to do with the fact that should you manage to consume the average meal here, you should pretty much consider yourself DONE dining for the day! In fact, if you don't walk out with a little box, you just might want to consider taking to a nutritionist about trying to get your life right! That said, I can tell you from personal experience, the food here is good enough, you may just find yourself partaking in that one or two last bites past your fill. So, why the missing star? Mostly hoping to get the owner's attention to one key issue: the wait. Now, I can hardly begrudge a good restaurant being popular and the staff really does a tremendous job of balancing the needs of a hungry, often standing room only, group of anxious onlookers and the awesome service they consistently show their happily grubbing guests. Still, the business is literally turning away customers--a LOT of them! Having stood in the line when it's been out the door, I've watched the cars drive by as the passengers shake their heads and then hang them knowing they are on their way to a lesser breakfast. It's tragic, but perhaps not past hope. Or at least, I hope so, anyway. See, when I was here last, I spotted a sign saying the next spot in the building was available. Perhaps, if every one of the probably very few people who've ventured this far into this epic tome were to mention the idea of purchasing the adjacent space and knocking down the wall, then maybe we might one day all be able to find a seat at the table. Now wouldn't that be sweet?

This is my favorite breakfast spot. It used to be a little tucked away diner that not many people knew about but now there's always an hour wait when we go. I miss when we didn't have to wait but I'm glad they are doing so well. My favorite is the griddle biscuit and their gravy! The bacon is also great. Ive never had something I didn't like. Servers are usually very friendly but occasionally they get busy and its not the absolute best service... still nothing to complain about though.

What can I say about this place.... Well, I love it!! It is awesome!! Doug must be from New Mexico cause that is exactly why my hubby brought me here. He is from NM and this place is just like home to him. They proudly sport the "Christmas tree" that is 1/2 green chili and 1/2 red chili atop a pile of potatoes or papas. If it is your first time you gotta try the papas but be warned it is a big portion. The chili either one (red or green) are hot. Meaning Doug is from NM and New Mexico Mexicans don't eat their chili like us Denver Mexicans (we like it really hot). But don't let that stop you from eating here their chili tastes darn good unlike most of these restaurants (i.e. The Rock) who have no business selling chili. We are so happy Doug opened up in our neck of the woods, now we just need some place to start selling really good HOT chili and Centennial will be a fun place to live. You gotta try Doug's it is really good. But I do have one serious complaint. His password to the wifi is the GBPackers??? WHAT??? This is a reminder to you Doug -- THIS IS BRONCO COUNTRY (I won't tell my hubby what you have done). Just change it.... Name your password something like, "Radierhater" that is pretty neutral. Thanks for all the good eat's Doug's!

We went this past Saturday to Doug's Day Diner for breakfast. Let me just start off by saying that the portions are HUGE, the breakfast burrito was massive and was easily enough for 2 people. The place was packed but the service was still spot on for refills, check-ins, etc We had a group of 7 people, sat within 20 minutes and had our fresh made food very quickly after ordering even though there was not an empty seat in the place. Our waitress was very accommodating when we asked to split the checks and overall was great. I ate the Carne Asada Papa's which to me was like a skillet with eggs, potatoes, cheese and meat. I enjoyed it and needed to take a box home because of the size of the portion. The green chili could have been hotter for me but I enjoy spicy foods and know many people do not like it as hot as I do, adding some of the locally made hot sauce did the trick. Doug's was fantastic, cannot wait to go back

I truly am a fan---The breakfast burrito was AMAZING. It is gigantic and the ingredients quality. Again, I don't eat pork and was able to enjoy green chili--Though it isn't that spicy. I ordered Carne Asada. I will say ti is truly Carne Guisada--More of a boiled or stewed meat then pan friend. However it was still awesome!! Cut with your fork tender and very tasty. I now know why they are only open until 2pm. If you eat there for breakfast or lunch, you don't need to eat the rest of the day!!! Thank you for the great quality and the nice portion size! Picked up take out and edited the review. Fantastic food, very flavorful, great portions, and great service. Wow... Again, I stand by the once a day eating if you eat here!!!

Hmmmm.... I wanted to love this spot but it didn't turnout to be love at first sight. They had a few hiccups with seating a large party before us and hostesses were a bit flustered. Regardless, I was starved and looking forward to a homemade breakfast. My dish was disappointing but my husband's biscuit and gravy dish was a hit. In short the potatoes were homemade but extremely greasy. Orange juice was fresh squeezed, coffee hot. Just a real mixed bag. Pricey with all the upcharges but I would give it a second shot. However, I will not rush back!

Not sure why this place has such great reviews but I was not impressed. I ordered the lil'doug, I think was the name. 2 eggs, hash browns, bacon, and 1 biscuit with gravy. The positive was the bacon. Thick cut quality stuff. Yum! The rest was terrible. Asked for the Browns to be crisp and instead of stirring them on the griddle they just burnt them on one side. The biscuit was so over done I had to use a knife to cut through the bottom and the gravy had nothing but a starchy flavor, No taste but flour. Sorry, not getting a second try from me.

Everything I have eaten here has been amazing. Best breakfast I've had. Period. The staff is always friendly and the place is spotless. The food selection is perfect, a lot to chose from. Sundays are packed so get here early.

My family loves this place! With so few non franchise breakfast restaurants in the area, I'm glad this place is doing so well. You can tell they really do make things from scratch and their green chile is awesome! Prices are reasonable and portions are large. I do wish they would expand their sweet breakfast menu. Maybe some bananas foster or fun pancake options? This is our go to breakfast joint!

Stopped by this joint for breakfast last week. Worst bacon in the universe. Never again!

DELICIOUS!!! We stopped in for a late breakfast. The service is top notch, and every dish (4 of us, two kids) was loved. The browns with eggs and green chile was my dish, and it was indulgent but not too heavy. The server let me try the red and green chile sauce to make a decision... Red was hot, green was flavorful.

Just happened into this place today. No planning, no expectations, jay hungry on a Saturday, looking for something local. There was quite a line as we parked but were seating much faster than I anticipated. Good food, good service, a little cramped but that's just a sign many people love the place right? Skip V.I. Or the nearby IHOP. Eat here. It's worth it. Try the Hillbilly....you shan't be hungry afterwards.

My family and I ate at Doug's for the first time today. In short, this is the way every restaurant on the planet ought to make their food. Everything is scratch-made/cooked, even down to the pickles and garnishes they use on/in their dishes. Their griddle biscuits are phenomenal and their thick-cut bacon is fantastic. I foresee eating here at lest twice a month, if not more. Great service, diner atmosphere, and exceptional food. My only complaint is they don't have more space.

    (5)
  • Rick B.

Once again awesome food! I had the Hillbilly and a side of thick cut bacon! It has to be the thickest bacon I have ever had. Next time I will try the grilled biscuit and homemade jam! No room today for that. Lol.

What a joke. We waited outside. We were told 20 minutes. Waited 30. Then they took a group of 10 and 2 ahead of us even though they showed up after us. even after she told us we were next. I got 3 little kids waiting. Customer service is my biggest issue. Went to IHOP and walked right in!

After a brief wait to be seated, it was absolutely worth it. EXCELLENT food, the thick cut bacon is thee best I've ever had! friendly staff. Cute local diner with beautiful artwork on the walls. We will definitely be back!!

I have been coming to Doug's for many years now and my great experiences have kept me coming back. I love the cozy, homey, space which is abundant in windows and light. The service is a bit spotty: sometimes it will be really excellent, but sometimes it's detached and inconsiderate. The food, however is always great!! A favorite of mine is the Papas and their pancakes with homemade syrup. If you're ever in the area, skip the chain breakfast restaurants and try DDD!

    (5)
  • Bryan B.

Nothing less than awesome!!! A bit of a wait to be seated on weekend mornings, but so worth the wait. I had the Carnitas Papas, and it was life changing. Can't wait to go back for round two!!! Stop reading and go!!!!

I don't know what the hype is with this establishment. This place is no better than the pancake house. Overpriced, mediocre food, and lousy service. Not a lot of seating and the hostess did little to turn over tables that sat empty for well over ten minutes while there was a minimum wait of 25 minutes or longer... It may just be this Doug's, but the wait staff is in need of some training or replacement. The busser puts on a good demonstration in efficiency. Hit the ihop or McDonalds for a more predictable food experience.

We were taken to Doug's Day Diner by some friends who live in the area. It is tucked away in a little strip mall area and is a little hard to find if you didn't know where it is. Clearly, others have no problem finding it is because it was really busy and I was told that the place gets packed and there can be a wait. I can see why. The menu is filled with all kinds of delicious items. One thing they tout is that everything is fresh, original, and delicious. After enjoying my meal here I can confirm that this is true. Everything on my plate was wonderful. My eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was thick and cooked to crispy perfection. I'm not a big fan of hash browns, but these ones were great. They also serve what feels like a 5 pound biscuit with most everything (no joke, they're dense and pack some heft). The biscuits are mouth watering and served with their delicious homemade jams. My fellow diners' food looked amazing as well and I wanted to snatch a bite off of each of their plates. If you leave here hungry, it's your own fault. We even took some of the food home because it was that delicious and we couldn't finish it all. Doug's Day Diner is a bit more expensive than other places, but you get what you pay for here. t's locally owned, and the food is fresh, homemade, and delicious.

This place is always busy and always delicious! I've only ever been for Sunday brunch, but every time it has been delicious and well worth the wait. The thick cut bacon is divine, as are the griddle biscuits with jam! The staff is friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The only gripes I have is that there isn't any seating while waiting to be seated. One Sunday I noticed there was only one man bussing tables so when several got up at once, it still took a while to be seated. I don't know if wait staff should be involved in this process or just have more bussers on at a time. Overall, my boyfriend and I love this place and continually introduce family and friends to it!

Overrated and Overpriced!! I do not know why their are so many 5 star reviews. My wife and I are not strangers to good breakfast. We are usually regulars at Toast, on Santa Fe and Bowles and today we decided to do something different. We went to Dougs this morning, with the intent of having a fabulous breakfast based off of all of these "raving reviews".....only to be seriously let down. First of all, if you decide to go here, get there early. This place is a lil' bit bigger than a cafe and they might be lucky if they can squeeze 50-60 people in. Secondly, the price Doug charges for what you get is ridiculous....me and my wife paid 25 bucks for a Whimpie-Papas and a Black-betty burger. Food was mediocre at best and the portion i got for the Whimpies was unacceptable The only reason i ordered "Whimpie" was because one fellow yelper made it sound as if the Papas was this gigantic sized portion, so... I was well aware that the Whimpie was half of the Papas, but if it is half the portion it should also be half of the price!!! Not even worth 8 bucks, maybe 6, and to top it all off they served it to me in a bowl....a bowl, like the one they would serve oatmeal or cereal flakes out of...seriously Doug??! My wife said her burger was "Okay", but it did not warrant the 11 dollar price tag, and having a bunch of people hovering over you at the counter while your trying to eat because Doug can not accommodate all of them pretty much sealed the deal to never return to this place again.

    (2)
  • Michelle C.

Portions are gigantic. Expect to take home leftovers. Reasonably priced and the food is great; I really enjoyed the French toast. My friends got the papas and the big pig omelette, and both were delicious and huge. The service was very attentive and friendly. Awesome place to have breakfast though we did go on a Sunday morning and waited about 20 minutes. We took the long wait as a good sign :)

  • Guy S.

We went to Doug's this morning for breakfast. The service was good as usual but the we had a hard time finding something everyone wanted to eat. A couple of us ordered the breakfast burritos and they were very good and they were huge. You better be hungry if you order one. One complaint I have is that the thick cut bacon was very greasy, I know I know, it's bacon!! Perhaps it should have been cooked a bit longer. It wasn't a deal breaker for me since everything else was good. I think we like this place better for lunch than breakfast, the food is always good and they make most of their own sauces.

would be a 4 or 5 the food is great but everything else is the worst never had good service wrong orders you name it it's happened

  • Michelle B.

Wow! First of all, plan to have to wait and the place WILL be packed! The portions are HUGE! I think I've eaten one of my breakfasts for 2 more days. Because they are so busy, there isn't much time for the staff to have a personality. You get taken care of. Period.

    (4)
  • Mark S.

Good service fresh food. I got the papasm I kinda wish everything wasn't so smothered covered and druthered. Would go light on the salsa and sauce next time. Food seems good but not necessarily good for you.

I was looking to grab some breakfast before heading to the Cherry Creek Off Leash area with my dogs. Doug's Day Diner is conveniently close to the intersection of Parker Road and Orchard. I stopped in around 8am on a Saturday and grabbed a seat at the counter. By 9am the place was packed. The servers and hostess were attentive and efficient. Their service came with a healthy side of "sass". I enjoyed this quite a bit. The breakfast menu was extensive. I opted for the Big Pig omelette. It was a large and fluffy egg-envelope stuffed full of multiple piggy byproducts, cheese and sour cream. It is served with your choice of green or red chili. I liked the green better. The food was very filling. For my side, I went with pesto covered tomato slices, which were tasty. Prices here are the new breakfast standard of a bit more expensive than you would expect. I will definitely be back again.

I really enjoyed my experience at Doug's Day Diner. The hashbrowns are AWESOME. I loved the real eggs (You know, sometimes you get eggs and have to wonder...). The only thing I didn't care for was my sausage patty - but only due to it having some sort of spice in it that I'm not a fan of... couldn't quite put my finger on it. However, my boyfriend LOVED his thick thick cut bacon. My only wish is that they cut the portion and price down. Can't afford to eat here often, both for my waistline and wallet!

  • Robert N.

The Taos is amazing. This is without a doubt the best breakfast place in the Denver Metro area. The service is warm and friendly, the food is freshly made. They make their own jam, which is out of this world. The portions are enough to feed a few families, so be ready to take some home. Their bacon is the nice, thick kind, not that thin stuff you get at most places and wonder if it is real bacon.

    (5)
  • Brigette E.

This place is amazing for breakfast. Pancakes have always been big, and fluffy. Their bacon is thick and crispy which is delicious in my opinion. I love their biscuits and gravy also! I've always had great service and even tho there is always a wait on the weekends, I don't complain because there is a reason people love this place! It's always clean when I go in also.

    (5)
  • Kelly S.

This is my favorite Diner in the area. I am constantly craving the Papas Taos from Doug's! Their Ranch dressing is really great! Hard to find a place that really cooks from scratch and has bacon that is thick and crisp! They will also split things in half and stick the other half in a box for you (if you are on a diet)! Dang...maybe I'll go today! Service is really good too!

  • Michelle A.

I don't know why I order sausage of any kind even turkey sausage. I do not like it even in an omelette. On top of the turkey I decided to be half good and have only whites of the egg. The potatoes were ok, the toast was good as was the strawberry jam. Coffee was the best thing I had. My husband had 2 eggs, potaoes, bacon and dry rye toast. He said it was fine. The bacon was thick and looked good. He gave me a piece and I love bacon but could not finish it because it was so fatty. Finally we go to breakfast together and it was disappointing. 25.00 plus tax is expensive for breakfast especially when I did not enjoy the food.

Food was excellent. There is a really good variety of choices and some unique options. The albuquerque turkey is my usual dish but the blueberry burger is also surprisingly good. Always friendly service.

How have I not been here before!?! The atmosphere is clean and friendly but WOW is the food good!!!! Large portions too and you can tell it's made from scratch and not just pulled from the freezer. Can't wait to come here again!

GREAT!!!! Their biscuits are awesome and the breakfasts are both plentiful and very tasty. I am a huge fan of breakfasts and diners (especially dives) and Doug's is up there with the likes of Nick's or The Pantry (Los Angeles) or 3 Star (NYC). It is GREAT!!!

Doug's has never let me down. Favorite breakfast spot, right by the house. Huge portions of always delicious food. Everything has that homemade taste. This place can get crazy hectic in the breakfast rush but the staff is always on top of their game.

I stumbled across this place while on my search for some hangover food. The menu is full of interesting choices and the prices are very affordable. I really love their ranch dressing and cheesesteak sandwich. The fries were crispy and delicious. Being the glutton that I am, I also had the chorizo breakfast burrito smothered in green chili. I didn't really care for the green chili. I suspect that they use the store-bought stuff. However, the burrito was really big and the chorizo was pretty tasty. The restaurant itself is clean and spacious. The waitstaff is quick and friendly. A definite plus when your head feels like it's going to explode from the previous night's binge drinking session.

Restaurant is inviting but the service not so much. It took nearly 20 minutes for our breakfast to come out and it was a little cold. The waitress didn't check in with us throughout the meal and we ended up waiting for another 20 minutes after we were done for a box and the check. The food was average, nothing special. The biscuits were too doughy for my taste. Very large portions so come hungry.

Finally got to try this place. The Wife and I have wanted to come here for a while but it seems that every time we try, the line is out the door. This morning, we must have caught it at just the right time. We were able to park right up front, walk in and get seated right away, no wait! Doug's is quite small inside and the decor is warm and friendly, like some place you would find in a small mountain town. Nothing like you would expect from looking at the outside (Strip mall). The Hostess was friendly and our Server was very pleasant as well. A very "Homey" feel to the place! My Wife had the "Sweet Combo" with Pancakes, eggs and bacon. She said it was very good. Very large portion, she was unable to finish it all. I had the "Taos" which is a mountain of "Browns" with chorizo, turkey and green chili sausage and onions all smothered in two different cheeses, green chili and two eggs on top, served with a warm tortilla. So good! another huge portion, I tried very hard but could not finish it, though I wanted too as it tasted heavenly! We wanted to love this place as it is so close to home, and we really did! I predict that we will be returning very soon. I'm not at all sure why there are negative reviews for this restaurant, the prices are very affordable ($24 for my wife and I), the service was awesome and the food was delicious. I guess some people are very hard to please. It's great to have a locally owned Diner so close to home, Thanks Doug's, keep up the good work! =] -MK

Stopped by for an early Brunch last weekend based on the reviews from fellow yelpers. This used to be a Japanese restaurant that went out of business so I was familiar with the location and it's close by my house. The food here is pretty good. I tried the standard breakfast (forgot what it was called) with eggs, hash browns, spicy turkey sausage, and some toast with a side of bacon and some green chili. Mmmmm .... bacon .... The hash browns were particularly good - kind of like shaved potato slices as opposed to the standard shredded stuff you get from a bag. The bacon was cut extra thick - so ask for it crispy. The waitress said the turkey sausage had kick - but it was downright hot. Too hot for me so I have to give it a thumbs down. But it looks like it's made locally so maybe it was just the batch I had. The green chili has some heat, but not too hot, just the way I like it. So overall yum. The restaurant itself still has all the furniture from the old restaurant, so it's pretty nice for a diner. Service was good but unexceptional. It was starting to get crowded by the time I left so word is getting out about this place. Definitely not a bad place at all.

OK I went back after almost a year, it seems Dougs is almost 2 different places, people love it or it is so so. Put me in the so so category, first 2.00 for real maple syrup? my wife says we give you the crappy stuff for free but charge for the good stuff!! Also the waitress asked if we wanted homemade jam, my first thought was Smuckers is free but the good stuff costs more again, I did not find an extra charge for the jam but who knows. Getting down to the food, I had a Tomato, Spinach and bacon Omelet, with Swiss Cheese. the Tomatoes were diced so small I could never really taste them, Dougs serves some nice thick cut bacon, but mine was chopped so fine and had no taste it could have been corned beef from corned beef has and I could not tell you, the Spinach was in such short supply it was hardly there. Swiss cheese was stuck on top of the omelet where it just kind of slid off. Wife chose the Sharon Omelet, Onions, Peppers, Spinach Tomatoes, Sour Cream, Sprouts, and Guacamole with egg beaters hers was nearly twice as tall as mine but the height came from a large serving of raw sprouts. Sprouts can have a very earthy taste when they are raw and that is how they were. The omelets are the type where they get a circle of eggs cooking then toss in the ingredients then fold and serve. I prefer to have all the items cooked or heated up together then added to the omelet. One other thing even though we went there early 8:00 AM the Ketchup bottle at our table was nearly empty. Needless to say I gave Doug's a try twice it is just not the place for me, if you like Doug's that is great if you are not sure read the reviews check out the menu and prices. dougsdaydiner.com/breakf… If it sounds like your kind of place give it a shot, one other mention the coffee is served in tall clear mugs which might sounds nice somewhere but the coffee cools off pretty quick and it was ok but nothing great I drink my coffee black so I do know how it taste, it tasted like folgers and for 2.00 for a cup I would like something with more taste.

being new to Colorado I'm always lookin for good local places with a variety. I had a fantastic Tasty omelette, but subbed crane Asada and added green chile. It was money. My lady had the Sweet spot and thoroughly enjoyed. If only it wasn't snowing like crazy and we were sitting by the door freezing, it would've been perfect.

Went to meet friends here who loved the place. When I first walked in, it smelled so good!! I couldn't wait to eat breakfast. It was a Saturday around 10:00 am, so we had about a 10-15 minute wait to be seated. The server got our drink order and brought it out in a timely manner. We ordered our food& received it within 15 minutes. The food was pretty good. I really liked the potatoes and the wheat bread!! My friends and I hadn't seen each other in a little while and we enjoyed conversation even after we had finished our meals. We were still drinking our tea, water, etc when about 40 minutes of being there, the server came up to us (as well as a few other tables) and asked us to leave, as they "had a large party to seat who had been waiting a while"! I do NOT care how good the food is at a restaurant, if I get treated like this, I will NEVER go back! I have worked in restaurants in my past, and this is not a practice I would have ever even considered. It seats only 77 people, so I understand the need for table turnover. But I am a paying customer and was enjoying the food and the company. My visit with friends was cut short so this place could turn over tables. It's too bad...because word of mouth can make or break a business. Won't ever be back Doug! Shameful :(

Just like all the rest, I wanted to like this place. I have tried breakfast and lunch and both are terrible. First off they're "hash browns" are horrendous. They're greasy and heavy, and the homemade sausage is strange. After that I thought that I would never have to eat there again, but my husband received a gift certificate for his birthday. So we decided to give lunch a try. Lunch was actually worse than breakfast. We had a chicken sandwich and a cheeseburger, altogether it was $22.00! Again the "fries" were cold, limp and greasy and BROWN. The card was for 25.00 and they would not give us change to leave a tip. This place is not a true diner. Diner food is supposed to be good and affordable. Neither of which Doug's is. Quit trying to impress the Piney Creek yuppies and make real food!

Love this place. This was one of the first places we tried when we moved to Colorado. They have great breakfast and great lunch (obviously not open for dinner). I love their omelettes for breakfast and sandwiches for lunch. Also a big thing I love that I get with their breakfast omelettes is their wheat toast. It is the best bread in the world. I have never had anything bad here. Serivce is pretty good too, very fast, very diner atmosphere. I am always full when I leave this place.

I've eaten at Doug's Day Diner twice, and each time the food was served hot, fairly quickly, and was tasty to boot. From the outside, this diner is very plain Jane. But once you get inside, the tile floors and attractive booths near the window are very inviting. The open kitchen is large and gives the place an upscale diner feel. It's much cheerier on the inside than looking in. The service is efficient, but not very talkative. The menu offers breakfast and lunch dishes, lots of eggs, salads, burritos, and other sandwiches. I didn't notice pancakes, but I might have missed them. My sandwich was pretty good, and my omelet was even better. I had a healthy omelette with veggies and cheese, and that was a large enough portion to take home half the omelette for the next day's lunch. I like Doug's Day Diner, but it really is a day diner, and closes around 2 pm. They were polite and didn't kick us out when 2 pm arrived, though. We sat and talked until almost 2:30!

We love this place! Doug has created a gem in an obscure corner of Centennial. He also had the guts to start this up in 2009 when the recession was raging. High quality ingredients, uniquely combined, and delivered with attention to detail. I love the roasted green chiles that pop up in many dishes. My personal fav: Huevos Rancheros. Doug has also put together a very warm, attentive staff. You will pay more here than IHOP or VI, and you will also wait longer. Both are worth it. The higher quality and ample portions make this place an excellent value. We love Doug's!

I have visited this place three times now and I have really tried to like it. I am a huge fan of green chili so the first couple of times I visited I ordered breakfast meals that included green chili, unfortunately the green chili is really not that great, it is very mild and has a really strange flavor that I can not quite figure out. The last time I decided to try the red chili, it was better than the green, but still left much to be desired. We were also sat at a broken table and every time you leaned on one side the other side would lift, we were concerned that our meals may be catapulted off the table. I had also brought my one year old son with me and there are only three options for breakfast we wanted to order him a traditional breakfast with eggs, potatoes and "bacon". He doesn't have all his teeth yet and is not what you would call a skilled chewer yet, so I asked if we could have sausage instead of bacon so he doesn't choke. I was told that they would not substitute because of the price difference, and was told I could order a side of sausage in addition to his meal with the bacon. I understand the price difference, but I think it would have been more appropriate to make the substitution with whatever necessary upcharge to make up the difference between one slice of bacon and one piece of sausage. This place does have large portions and I have to admit I have been to worse places, but I think this last visit has convinced me that Doug's Day Diner is just not going to grow on me.

We just moved to the neighborhood and Doug's is our favorite breakfast place. You can't beat the amazing, fresh, quality ingredients used in every dish and huge portions. I'd be curious to see how they'd do an egg's benny - it's the one thing missing from their menu. We are fast becoming regulars.

Doug's is near my Lady's house, and I have now been here three times. Each time I have found something that I really enjoy for breakfast, and the people I have been with each time, have enjoyed their breakfasts as well. In the land of chains, Doug's stands out in that they make the vast majority of their foods, green chili, preserves, sausage, etc., in house. While it is not the cheapest breakfast in town, it is the best that I have found in this area. I like Doug's, and will be back again.

Delish! I was a fan of Doug's when he was in Albuquerque and owned Wecks, I had the "wimpy" sized Carne ardovada. I decided on wimpy because I had the giant biscuits with homemade apple butter and strawberry jam and the best turkey sausage I have ever tasted, the turkey sausage had hatch green chilis in them. Amazing. But back to the Pappas, the Carne ardovada. Delicious hash browns, green and red chile with the most succulent pork simmered in green chile. I had a perfectly cooked over easy egg too. Yes I pigged out but I was so excited to taste Doug's food again I couldn't help but order two entrees! Only thing not perfect was the coffee. It was just ok. Nothing special. Would have loved pinion coffee!

I have been here three times, all for breakfast. Took me a few visits to know exactly how to rate this place since it has highs and lows. The service has been friendly each time. I love that it is locally owned and the restaurant is very clean. The decor is mountain/country, they have framed photographs on the wall from a local artist of landscapes and people in cowboy clothing. The booths are comfy and I like that they offer counter seating as on a busy weekend its nice not to wait for a table. They have really delicious, grandmas hot cakes and that is why I keep returning here. For a plate of hotcakes it is $5. I do not splurge for the "real" maple syrup since it is a $2.00 up charge but the "un-real" maple syrup works just fine for me. Since I have never tried it I cannot comment on whether or not it is worth the additional cost but I have a hard time paying $7 for pancakes. The coffee is really good; they serve it in clear, glass, pedestal mugs which is different from the diner average of beige, ceramic mugs. I really do not like the breakfast sausage, which is unfortunate since normally that is one of my favorite breakfast indulgences. It is really overpowered with spices and somewhat dry just leaves a very strange taste that I wouldn't associate with breakfast sausage. The gravy on the B&G is disappointing. It lacks in flavor and I am used to there being bits of pork in it, their version does not have that. The griddle biscuits however are very tasty and I could eat one of those again. Price wise, depending on what you order can be a bit high for breakfast. However they have large portions so you could share a plate if price is concerning for you. I will continue to visit Doug's Day Diner for the delicious hot cakes and coffee but not on a routine basis. Someday I may even try lunch.

Loved the steak breakfast burrito and coffee. The portions were very generous, so splitting a meal is advisable unless you love leftovers or have time for a solid post-breakfast nap. It's has an old coffee shop feel with updated interior decorations. Very enjoyable!

I had the ranchers plate. It was breaded steak, 3 eggs, hash browns, and a giant biscuit. The food was made from scratch and was absolutely delicious. The portions were insane! I'm a larger person and I wasn't able to complete the meal... I recommend splitting the plate with a friend. All in all, I think I'll be making regular weekend trips to Doug's Day Diner.

I really wanted to like this place. But our first trip to Doug's for breakfast this morning was a bust. The decor is nice. We sat at the counter--it has a down home charm to it. Then the food came. I had the Snappy omelette, I think that's what it was called. One of the main reasons I picked that one was because it included "roasted chicken". Sounded good. I was anticipating some nice white meat chicken breast chunks mixed in with the omelette. What I got was an omelette folded over separate lumps of all dark meat chicken that looked to me as if they had been boiled. In retrospect, I suppose it's good that they weren't even cooked in with the omelette. So I was able to just push them over to the side of the plate where they remained untouched. The omelette itself was good. The browns that come on the side weren't very good either. They were more like home fries than hash browns. The griddle biscuit was decent and huge. My wife got eggs, pancakes, and sausage. The eggs were dry and the pancakes were a bit gummy she said; better than what she's made at home before. The sausage was good though. The staff is friendly. And most importantly, it's rather close to our house. So, chances are, we'll give it another shot and try something totally different from the menu (which is a good size with a lot of interesting options.)

YUMMM!!! Went for the first time for breakfast this morning and my dad and I were totally pleased! First we took a long walk through Cherry Creek which was the perfect way to start off a sunday, then stopped in for some grub. FOOD: Dad had the B&G (biscuits and gravy) and I had a veggie omelet with spinach, peppers, sprouts, guac and other yummy stuff. All of the food coming out of the kitchen looked great as well. I put some red chile on my omelet (highly recommended) and I believe they make their own jelly as well. Dad shared my hash browns and said they were awesome! It's totally what you would expect for diner food, so whoever says the hash browns are too greasy, obviously hasn't visited too many diners! They were delish! I didn't have coffee, but I love how they served it in the tall clear glass mugs....something different. Service: Considering they were short staffed and one of the waitresses went back to help in the kitchen, I thought the service was wonderful! Our waitress was super sweet and everybody was smiley and happy to be there. We didn't wait long for a seat (jumped the line to just sit at the breakfast bar) and the food came out really fast. Price: Super affordable. They even have a "to go" special with a breakfast burrito and coffee for $5. Maybe I'l give that a try this week! I'll be back again soon for sure! Buen provecho!

OMG ! This place is GREAT ! Usually when my husband and I stop to eat someplace, there is SOMETHING that is amiss with the place but not Doug's Day Diner ! The food is fresh and fantastic....the service is friendly and attentive....the atmosphere is comfortable and the diner itself (including the bathrooms) is clean and tidy. I cannot say one bad thing about this restaurant. Make sure to try their thick sliced bacon and potato bowls---great is all I can say!

Am always on the lookout for a new restaurant to try. I work from home and just need to get out of the house on a daily basis or I lose my mind a little bit. I always go out but get really bored with the same thing all the time, so I often find myself just driving and seeing what pops up for lunch options. Doug's Day Diner is my kind of place. Huge menu - so many different options, Breakfast, lunch, combinations, something sweet - something spicy. The menu is 4 pages plus - with probably 50 - 75 different selections. This is a ton of choices for a breakfast / lunch only kinda place... I finally decided on one of the "Papas" selections. Hash browns, spicy pork adovada, both red and green chili, 2 eggs, cheese and a tortilla. Every last of my picky eater instruction was carried out to the extreme - crispy hash browns, eggs exactly as ordered, both kinds of green and red chili - Christmas style. Could not have asked for better than if I had made it myself. The service was attentive and the portions were huge. I could not eat it all if I had tried. Doug's Day Diner has a new regular.

Food is fresh and tasty. This neighborhood needed an "non chain" restaurant and Doug's Day Diner is a refreshing change from Village Inn, Ihop and LePeep.

Perfect place for breakfast, their hashbrowns are the best thing ever. I'm a sucker for southwest breakfast and this is my favorite place to get it!

Food was blah, nothing to really LOVE and most certainly not for the price!! OVER CHARGEd and UNDER DELIVERED in all AREAS - I've now tried this place 3 times and today WAS MY LAST and final time! Today i ordered a side salad with ranch ( I know NOT hard) as it turns out Dougs has some kind of dill version of "ranch dressing" I wanted a salad with ranch dressing not some nasty dill trying to be ranch .....IT WAS GROSS, since I didn't eat it I figured u would try to take it off our bill. I asked the waitress to please see if that was an option, the Managers response to the waitress was, " we'll only take it off if she notices it" REALLY?!?!?! Since I did notice it, the poor waitress took the ticket back to the manager, where the mngr then felt compelled to give us dirty looks, Wow, how about u just do ur job, and we're NOT in high school or are u fowl looking all the time?!?! As a customer, I am in SHOCK at the lack of professionalism, in the current economy I'd think people would want to do a great job b/c you never know who is just around the corner and better than you!! ANYWAY...since the side salad clearly sent you into a tizzy, I added the price of the salad back into the bill ..... clearly 4 bucks is THAT important to you!!! I'll be sure to let your boss know how fantastic of a manager u are, oh yeah and everyone I know will know that the manager at Dougs day diner is not the least bit friendly and has NO customer skills, watch your bills if u choose to eat there - " Dougs diner - where they could care less about customers!!" ..... Doug is that really what you've taught your managers ???? That's how YOU'RE going to to business - People at fast food have better attitudes than that women who represents your diner, GOOD LUCK!

While a couple friends were visiting, I was in the mood to go out for breakfast. My husband and I didn't want to drive very far. We thought about the Original Pancake House in DTC, but knew there would be a long wait since it was a Sunday morning. As we were driving up Hampden, I found this place on my Yelp app. I figure there are always going to be negative reviews on places, so I take those with a grain of salt. We decided to give Doug's a shot. Boy, am I glad we did! We walked in and got a table right away. Awesome! The menu was pretty extensive. I had a hard time deciding what to get (not unusual for me). Ideally, I would order a dish that had a pancake, omelet, potatoes, and maybe biscuits w/ gravy. I like a little of everything. Probably why I like buffets so much. I opted for a healthier option though: egg white omelet stuffed with spinach, feta, tomatoes, and I can't remember what else. It came with potatoes (I think) and a griddle biscuit. This is why I should write my reviews right away. I forget some of the details. All I know is that my egg white omelet was quite tasty. It just screamed healthy! The griddle biscuit was warm and melted in my mouth. Oh, and they make homemade jam! The biscuit with homemade berry jam was fantastic. These biscuits might actually be better than the Denver Biscuit Company. My husband ordered biscuits and gravy and blueberry pancakes. Biscuits and gravy were yummy (of course - it was biscuits!). The blueberry pancakes were incredibly fluffy and HUGE. I would totally get pancakes here next time (though that omelet was pretty hard to beat). These pancakes actually rival Original Pancake House. Can't wait to go back! Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day (and I'll eat it anytime of day too). Keep it up, Doug!
