Hands down the best restaurant in Burlington.

My wife and I went on a Wednesday night. The main dining room was full, so we had to sit in the bar area. But the menu is the same there, so that wasn't really an issue. On Wednesday's the special is a 12 ounce New York Strip, which is what I wanted anyhow. The price is dropped from $19 down to $15, so I decided to have a Fat Tire (at happy hour prices, $2.75) and add fried shrimp. Beth had a half order of tilapia, which is one filet (the full order is two). Both our meals included two sides. I had onion rings and salad (both good). Beth had sauteed veggies and salad (both good). My steak was really good, and I'm glad I didn't waste any money on the special preparations. As it was, they put on salt and pepper and maybe butter. The fish was also good; she had the lemon herb preparation. All told, with a 20% tip and tax, the bill was a little over $44, which seemed reasonable. In an area with lots of good restaurants, I'd probably only rate this place 3 stars, but in Burlington it may be the best restaurant around (surrounded by McD's, Burger King, and Pizza Hut). So I'm giving it 4 stars.

The Pasts Marinara was very good. I added shrimp and it was cooked perfectly. The marinara sauce looked and tasted freshly made. However my hubby didn't like the chicken fried steak at all. He says it tasted like a frozen patty.

OK, if you dive deep reviewing this place you could use up some ink, but most non locals that eat here are probably like me and my son who are passing through and just happy to find a decent meal in a little prairie town (albeit nice) in the middle of nowhere. We walked in and the place was packed, which we soon realized was because of happy hour (6-7). After that it emptied out. I had a really nice Caesar w/buttered garlic toast, some decent if slightly too dark (grease?) onion rings and buffalo wings. I ordered sweet and spicy, but they were downright treacly, w/ a much too sweet raspberry sauce. My son had a perfectly cooked med rare ribeye w/ a nice loaded potato. Washed it down w/ an ice cold New Belgium draft, then walked across the parking lot to a very comfortable Comfort Inn. What's not to like?

Our burgers to go were good, Medium was a bit more like Medium Well in my book, but the sweet potato fries are to die for. Almost overcooked, they were deliciously carmelized. I almost went back the next morning to see if I could get more before we left town. Nice people, comfortable place. All seating was in the bar, but no one was smoking. Does Colorado have a no smoking law?

While traveling through Colorado/Kansas my husband and I stopped at the Route Steakhouse. On Friday nights they have a prime rib special for $20 with 2 sides. The place way clean, the food was good and the waitress was friendly.

Good and Bad. I'll start with the good cause I may run on with the bad and it'll get lost. The side salad was simple, but everything on it was fresh. My wife loved the pasta marinara. You could obviously see it was freshly made from scratch. Very tasty and well prepared. The mash potatoes with my chicken fried steak were made from scratch and good. Lots of gravy to go with it. What's bad with this place? First off I looked at the menu on line, which was about twice as large as what was in it when I got here. I should have gone with my first reaction and gone to Denny's. It first started when we walked in. The couple ahead of us got seated, then the waitress went to take the order for a table of four. Left us standing there. Saw other waitresses just walk by and stare at us. Got to admit the way the place looks from outside and inside are vastly different. It's like they are only using half the building.

Horrible service, horrible food. When we arrived we had to wait at least 10 minutes to even have a waitress come over to try and take our drink order... Mind you we didn't even have menu's yet! We ordered, waited about an hour for our food to even come- and only half our parties orders arrived. We heard one waitress ask the other 'did you even put theirs in'? Not once did either one of the two waitresses come and tell us they made a mistake... They would run by our table and not make eye contact. We finally had to ask and the waitress said 'it is on it's way'. I had to wait a total of another 1/2 HOUR before my $24 Filet and and order of chicken tenders came out! The wait staff was so poor- no drink refills, no steak sauce, ketchup- we barely got silverware! When the remaining food was served I was given what looked like a kids steak... We did not complain- we paid our bill and even left a tip. We walked over to the other side of the restaurant and asked for a manager. Some very snooty girls at the bar said there is no manager- at which point we asked for someone in charge and the girls said 'well i guess thats us'! We explained our experience and they laughed in our faces. They said our waitresses were new and the only training they had was one day. We explained that maybe they need to not throw the inexperienced girls to the wolves and maybe pass along to management that maybe some more sufficient training would be useful. They proceeded to roll their eyes and tell us they can't do anything about that. DO NOT EAT HERE- I'd rather give my money to the Arby's next door!

Even the locals won't eat in the restaurant. I was told to avoid this place while in Burlington for work. It was next door to the hotel so I went. The steak was cooked perfect but there was so much grissel and fat there was not much of a steak. The little blond waitress was more interested in the group of young guys and when I said that I could not eat through the grissle she said sorry and just went back to their table. I was warned....

Had a steak salad that was surprisingly good on a Wednesday night. The place was hopping and the big wind/rain/hail storm added to the ambiance. Service was dismal as I came in right after 8, when they close the dining room and as a single female I had to compete with tables of young men...".hmmm who should I notice first, said the waitress?"

The sign outside said "new menu & mgmt." We didn't care - the Jones&Raine ( jonesandraine.com ) band was in town for a wedding gig and needed grub. Sat. 5:30pm it was busy - seated promptly with a table for 7. Drinks served within 7 minutes. Entrees took awhile to deliver - 15 min. Food was very good! We went with sandwiches - burgers, french dip, etc. Sweet potato fries are great. Certainly would stop by again.

Pub fare food next to the comfort inn as I got stuck in Burlington due to snow. Very simple decor like a dennys to make it the nicest resteraunt in town. Service is at tiny town level with few frills and a large menu. Prices are reasonable.

Stopped here on my road trip from Los Angeles to St. Louis. The steaks are excellent, but everything else is below par.

Excellent steak. Not a fancy place but the food is amazing. The service was equally fabulous. I highly recommend this place.

This was a decent stop along the interstate, and it was something different than fast food. The prices were decent. I had the 'shroom bruger with sweet potato fries. The burger was decent and the sweet potato fries were crisp. The service was friendly, but the food took forever.

I will never stop here again. We were driving to Oklahoma. Stopped for dinner. Food was not good. Pasta and salads were poor choices. The blackened chicken sandwich was fair. Poor service.

Stopped here on a cross-country road trip and was pleasantly surprised. Family ordered 4 dishes: a filet cooked perfectly to order (rare), chicken pasta that had plenty of chicken and sundried tomatoes, a hot sandwich special (roast beef with au jus, I think it was) that was ENORMOUS and a steal at $9, and a steak salad that had fresh salad greens and a generous portion of steak. The only criticism is that one of our sides was pepper fries, which sounded intriguing, but turned out to be a pile of normal fries with some black pepper sprinkled on top. I guess it was exactly as advertised, but we were hoping for something a bit more special. Still, overall meal was great. Service wasn't super speedy, but on par with the general speed of other places we went to in Colorado.
