Pho 79 IV Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

This is ma spot baby! I'd give it five star, but I gotta save some upper room for the crazy good places. I've eaten here a dozen times (or so). The portions are good and I've never had bad food. This place is one of three pho restaurants at the same stop light. What makes it my favorite is the portions, the broth is great, service is good... and you won't believe the last reason, but it's the only place that has... a big screen TV!!! OMFG... yes, all things being near equal, I dun luv mee sum tv.

A friend assured me that this is the best pho place in the area, despite the fact that there are several very good ones nearby. I have to say that I haven't had pho this good since Atlanta - and there were some damn good pho restaurants out there! I would go so far as to say that the food here is superior, with better selection, and lower prices than I am used to. Before you order, make sure you are really ready to eat! The portions are very large, and may take some people off guard. The vegetables are plentiful, the fresh herbs fragrant, and the meats fresh and high-quality. The broth is a little heavier than I am used to, but very good, and is served hot enough to cook the meat ingredients properly. All in all, if you already like pho, you can't go wrong here.

When my friend told me that best pho was in Colorado, I was like "STFU, you lying mofo". I mean, I've had pho from the ghettos of Orange County (where there's a huge vietnamese community) to the even dirtier ghettos of San Jose (again with a huge vietnamese community). I'll be damned if the best pho is in f-ing Colorado. Now, ok... Pho 79 is not the best. BUT, it is DAMN good. I've had my share of pho throughout my life, and Pho 79 in Broomfield is definitely in my top 3. Very tasty, clean broth (not too oily) with very fresh ingredients. I got the pho with well-done brisket, flank steak, and tendon. I LOVED their tendon -- nice and soggy. The flank steak was a bit too tough for me... maybe if it was more tender, then this pho would've been perfect. I liked the fried egg rolls -- very good crisp -- but they were a bit too small. They did serve it with a big pile of vermicelli, which I think goes really well with each bite of egg roll. All in all, taste-wise, I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of Pho 79. It definitely can hold its own against the best of the best in San Jose or Westminster (in California). Applause for Colorado pho.

Am I a pho expert? No, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night. The tables are sticky, the booths are covered in crumbs, the service sucks... ... and the pho is so good that I can only justify my rating via liberal use of obscene expletives. The broth is rich like it should be. The noodles are firm and plentiful. The veggies are fresh. They are not shy with their portions of meats, almost to the point where it can be too much. They don't water down the hoisin sauce. They always include a dipping tray (which is good since they're so generous with their meats). I'm never kept long, even during their busiest times. Finally, a sure sign that the pho is quality- I totally reek of pho when I leave. So much so, that I'm asked to use the side entrance to my office after lunch. Good show Pho 79, keep it real.

Stopped in on a weeknight. Several other parties were there, but they have a lot of space so it felt fairly empty. Service was reasonably friendly, but erroneous. Tried the: - Vietnamese spring rolls ($3.95): We actually ordered the tofu ones, but got served the combination (beef, shrimp) ones. This is what happens when you don't write down orders. Didn't bother to mention it to the waiter. The rolls were average. The peanut sauce had too strong of a coconut flavor. - Beef noodle soup ($8.95 for large): Some of the beef was too chewy. The flavor of the broth was ok. - Chicken vermicelli ($6.95): Dry noodles with fish oil. The grilled chicken was decent. The veggie to noodle ratio was a little off. Needed more noodles. Overall, this definitely doesn't compare to the good Vietnamese food I've had in other cities, but maybe it's one of the better ones in Colorado??? It was decent, but not great.

This place is Pho-King delicious. I've been to this place probably about ten times now over the past year, so I've had all types of experiences here. Overall though, it has been overwhelmingly positive. I'll also add that I've had pho in a number of other places. The pho here is fantastic. It is always quite tasty. I normally go with #2, the rare steak. Personally I think this is the best for white-ies like me who aren't really into the tripe or tendon or other miscellaneous meats. The brisket and chicken are decent too, but nothing to write home about. I agree with the other reviewers that have mentioned the meatballs were a little rubbery. I wouldn't order those here. The broth is delicious and the best thing about this place is how fresh the veggies are. The veggies that come to add in your pho are noticeably better than nearby restaurants (I'm particularly referring to pho duy here). Their non pho food is great too, in case you are into that sort of thing. I'd especially recommend the summer rolls. Also, if you are feeling thirsty, try the salty vietnamese lemonade, it is extremely refreshing. Overall, its great pho, decently cheap, as with most places you get more than most normal humans can possibly consume with a medium bowl, and the service is friendly. It does not get five stars because service can be slower here, particularly compared to other pho places which are often incredibly quick (Pho Duy a few doors down is much faster, I'll give it that). Oh and as a bonus, if you like to watch completely random shows on tv during your meal, this is the place to be. They have one big flat screen that is usually showing cribs, or some "how it's made" type show. Now that's good pho!

If you're a Pho lover (as in you care about how it tastes), THIS is the place. I've been to the near Pho places like Pho Duy, Pho 120. They don't compare to this place. Pho tastes great. It's better than the other Pho places here and I will stick up for it. The servers are WAY friendlier than Duy. Only thing that gets me is the speed during lunch time. They could take a long time before they come out. We've waited 30-60 minutes before for Pho. Now this isn't ALL the time but if you're in a big group it happens often. If they could just get the Pho to come out faster, I'll raise the rating up to 4 stars. The noodles are fresh. They're not mushy like other pho. Great texture. The soup wins it for me though. It has depth and flavor that other pho places nearby can't pull off. GOOD STUFF!!! I'd recommend this place to anyone who loves Pho.

This place is always packed, and I can see why. Their pho is super delicious, and I LOVE their egg rolls. It's my husband's favorite place for pho and we'll often make the trek from Boulder. Soooo good. I highly recommend the pho at the bottom of the list (written into the menu). It only comes in one size, one price, and is especially awesome.

My wife and I love the pho at this place (my wife has even given it 5 stars on here before). In the past we have over looked the bad customer service because of the awesome pho. However, after our experience today we will never return after today. As we were walking up to the table when we arrived the waiter asked if we were ready to order or needed a couple of minutes. My wife ordered the usual and after receiving the food did not see the server for 30 min and the place wasnt busy. Finally, when my wide flagged him down for to go cups, he looked at her a like she was crazy and tossed the togo containers on the table. When we went to pay, the total was $10 more than it has been in the past and when we asked why he said they raised their prices (we wouldn't know because he never let us see the menu). Then he threw the credit card receipt at me. We signed it and left, and he chased us out saying we took the credit card receipt. We told him where we left it and walked away. We will never go back. We walked next door to Pho Dut to get a boba (because we were told at Pho 79 they were out, we are pretty sure he just didn't want to make it), and they were very polite, had a good crowd, delivered the delicious bobas promptly, had a more expansive menu and were cheaper. We will be going there from now on.

I really love this restaurant. The food is fresh and delicious and the wait staff is friendly. While I do agree with other reviewers that the service can be slow, I have to laugh because I don't think I've ever been to Pho joint that ISN'T slow. But I can push that to the side because the food is the best. Try this place, you won't regret it!

  • Amanda C.

The last few times I have been in to pho 79 the service was slow, restaurant was dirty, and the pho broth was very oiled down!

  • Chandra W.

So here's the deal--this place is better than the other pho restaurants in this area. Do you go to a noodle house for the service or the pho? Thought so. Even if the servers aren't super attentive (which they usually are), the broth, the quality of the meat, the spring rolls (ah...the spring rolls), the super fresh and yummy veggies, and the crack in a cup served over ice are reasons enough to skip the competition and sit down to the best bowl of pho for miles around. Cheers!

  • Kyoko W.

While the broth was not as tasty as others, the clarity was very good. The meat was very fresh, tender and tasty. The tendons were well done, as was the tripe. The amount of noodles was proportional to the bowl and the greens were crisp and fresh. One big minus was that there was no fish sauce on the table. Service, though, could use a leg up. (Perhaps the one waiting on us was a mute...)

  • Jodi A.

We came here for medical reasons. My husband had a horrible cold/congestion, and my son and I picked him up some Pho. Nothing like that spicy, brothy goodness to help kick a cold's butt. I love how the Ocean Asian Market is next door....I imagine all of their ingredients should be very fresh.

  • Jack N.

I'm a regular at Pho 79 and I think it's one of the best pho restaurants in Colorado. The food always tastes great, they have quick service, and you get a big portion for the amount you pay!

  • Monika M.

Best Pho near Boulder. I have made the 20 minute drive many times just for their Pho. There is another Pho restaurant a few doors down, and another across the street, but none of them compare to this one. The service is great, price is right (under $15 for 2 depending on what you get) and while I have only ever had the chicken, I have heard that all of the variations are wonderful. If you like Pho, or are willing to try noodle soup, definitely try this place out.

  • Jen G.

I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could. I won't give it 5 because service is oddly slow, but Pho 79 in Denver is my favorite pho restaurant, and I was very happy to discover Pho 79 IV. I get the brisket and rare flank steak pho and it's consistently amazing! The boba teas are very good (and they'll let you mix the flavors, which is a nice touch). The iced coffee with sweetened condensed milk is heavenly. I took my cousins from Jersey, who had never experienced pho, and they fell in love with this place.

  • Viviene W.

I've been here twice and both times, it was OK. The medium was more like a small and the boba is not that great. The boba from New Saigon is by far the best I've ever had. They have really great food too. This place's competitor is definitely the Pho Duy a few stores down. The broth here is definitely something to brag about, however the portions were smaller than expected. My friends really love the pork + shrimp spring rolls. Also, they love that ordering the combination with everything Pho is filling and loaded with lots of meat. I noticed that they have a rickshaw at the front on display, how cool! :)

Couldn't resist another visit, after much discovery of PHO's this place takes the medal. Order is always right, water is frequently filled, customer service is just that, and the place is always clean.

Maybe it was an off day for me... maybe it was an off day for this place, but I was really disappointed. I had just gotten word of having strep (not contagious, no worries) and was looking for some pho to do the trick. First off, I was upset they didn't offer any pho with veggies (like bok choy, chinese mushrooms, etc).. just one with tofu. Second, the service wasn't the best. My throat was dying and had to repeatedly ask for tea to take away the pain. The broth was ok, I've had better indeed. But I'm glad there's at least pho options in Denver. Perhaps I'll go again and see if it's any better since I sadly could not sample the bubble tea :(

Excellent Pho, excellent service, fast and cheap. If you're looking for a quick place to stop or great Vietnamese come here. Also a personal fave for hangover cures.

Best pho in Broomfield! I always get a #1 or #2. And always a soda lemonade. They know what I order now, and just ask 1 or 2! I've had a couple of the other dishes, like the egg/pancake dish, which were OK, but the real draw here is the pho.

I was visiting Denver fron SD and eat pho at least twice a week at home so natrually my first stop in denver is a pho rest . Based on yelp ratings i decided on pho 79. I must agree with the other users I ordered a large pho tai and was amazed by the size. The portion was huge lots of noodles lots of beef and delicious broth. A five star bowl. However I had to knock off a star for freezer burns on a few of my beef pieces. I don't give a shite about service only the quality of food.

A few weeks back, after our positive experience at Pho 120 across the street, we decided to try Broomfield's Pho 79. After a quick walkthrough of the Pacific Ocean Marketplace (now I know where to find family packs of duck tongues!!!), we headed over to the sad end of this strip mall. A few years back, when this location was still a Chinese restaurant, I had been in there to pick up some takeout, and the exterior/interior was, how should I put this... unassuming (read: boring). The exterior hasn't changed, but don't let that fool you. The inside will take your breath away. First off, the foyer has a crude, but effective water feature with lots of greenery. Inside, however, you'll find yourself far away from the strip mall parking lot from whence you came. An actual taxi bicycle sits near the entrance. The interior is painted a lush red, and the owners have done a great job of masking the less-than-stellar view by camouflaging the front window with lots of bamboo stalks. Unfortunately, the decor was the only thing that knocked my socks off. Here's the breakdown: Pros: - Really nice interior design. - Terrific portions. - Delicious broth. - Pho condiments are fresh and plentiful. - The lemonade was yummy. - Everything was very, very clean. Cons: - The service thoroughly sucked. We made the cardinal sin of sending the waiter away after his first attempt to take our order. We saw three new tables come in, get seated, and have their orders taken before we were graced with our server's presence again. It wasn't that busy, and we did have a large party, so that bummed a bit. - As good as the broth was, the meat quality was pretty poor. SUPER fatty, for some of the cuts, to the point that it was kind of nasty. It was also the first time I've ordered tendon in my pho, so I don't know if this is normal, but it was pure jellified fat, and I couldn't eat it. So this was one experience. It wasn't terrific, but it wasn't terrible, either. I'm def willing to try again, and adjust my rating accordingly. I'll be back... Cheers!

One thing i got to say, best pho In Colorado. Even though there are Pho restaurant in Colorado like i said, this is the best Pho in Colorado. there are other Pho 79 in Colorado, the one in broomfield top it off. when i went to other pho restaurant i usually find some other noodles or other stuff that usually does not belong in my meal but overall Pho 79 in Broomfield has not disappoint me yet. i tried almost everything on their menu so far even the drinks and almost all of their daiquiris and boba, they are awesome. not too over-blend and not less blend, always just perfect. service is just perfect, nobody mean, just nice people doing their job and serving customers.

My husband and I have eaten here about 10 times (maybe more), and this is our favorite Pho place of the three in this area (Pho Duy a few doors down and Pho 120 across the road). I have eaten at about 9 Pho restaurants and this is one of my favorites, except for the fact that they don't serve Cilantro with the sprouts and herbs that are served with Pho. The broth here is delicous and always perfectly flavored and hot. Occasionally the basil is a bit wilted and past it's prime, but still good to put in the soup. The only thing I dislike about this place, despite the fact that it's pretty dim inside, the pendant lights that hang above about half of the tables are blindingly bright if you're sitting at a table beneath one. We always try to get one of the booths along the wall without the lights. The service here is usually quick and unfriendly, like 95% of the Pho places I've been. My husband always orders spring rolls with shrimp and NO PORK, about 20% of the time what is delievered the first time is the regular shrimp and pork spring rolls. They correct this quickly. Their peanut sauce is ok, but a little thinner than I like. I always order Pho Tai, but the last time I came in here I just ordered #1, thinking that was the Tai (which it is at the other Pho place I go to near my work in Lakewood, co), but it was actually Pho with meatballs. I have never ordered Thai meatballs, so I don't have much to compare to, but I thought these were terrible. They were tough and chewy and I tried about 5 bites, trying to like them, but I just didn't. This won't knock off a star for me though because their Pho Tai is always perfect. Like many other Pho places, don't wait for the check at your table, just walk up to the register and they'll ring you up.

I'm from Los Angeles and in Boulder for a week. I'm actually quite surprised that this little gem existed out here. I think it compares well to the pho in Little Saigon in Orange County, CA.

this is probably my favorite restraurant. I usually order a small pho and am compleately full having spent only 5 bucks. delicious, filling, and very economical! when I have friends or family in town, I take them here and everyone is happy.

  • Alek G.

Happy day! A great Vietnamese place, just a short drive from my work. Pros: Authentic Vietnamese, and ONLY Vietnamese. Vermicelli bowl was generous, the spring rolls were large and wonderful, and the iced coffee came just like I like it, condensed milk with the strainer still on top. My colleague's bowl of pho was tremendously large for a medium, and the basil and beansprouts were fantastically fresh. Very reasonable prices. Cons: The only thing to complain about was that we were seated right under the teevee -- but even then the server immediately turned the volume off when I asked.

  • Phil M.

Love this place! The hot lemon tea is really good. The watermelon boba will make you wish you could swim in it. They have a candy bowl at the counter too. MMMMMMM

    (4)
  • NV G.

I really like this Pho place compared with the other ones around the area, but definetely the service is a hit and miss. I always go for a Vermicelli Noodle bowl or Pho Tom and both were pretty decent, except my noodles were overcooked. I will go back since there are no other options in the area :)

Traveled to the Boulder Area for business and had a craving for pho. The restaurant wasn't too busy but there were a bunch if Asian folks eating there which is always a good sign that the food is authentic. The summer rolls were so-so but the pho was great! The service was mediocre but on par with most Vietnamese places I have gone to back east. It's right next to the Pacific Ocean Market (Asian supermarket) which made for an interesting and entertaining after dinner stroll. Definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in need of a good bowl of pho.

    (4)
  • Ryan M.

Pho as expected, The wife hates Pho, actually refers to it as "Pond Water" so I like to drag her in as much as possible :) That said I enjoyed my soup with extra meat it was very hearty and just as good as the original down in Denver. Service was fine actually someone spoke English wish helps the newcomer. I haven't tried the place next door or across the street but if you are heading over to Pacific Ocean Market to get your Chicken Claws you might as well stop in Pho 79!

    (4)
  • David F.

I've been here twice for lunch and both times had a pretty good experience (not sure if dinner is different). The service was speedy, the food tasty and the veggies very fresh... jalapenos, big fat bean sprouts, basil. Vaguely healthy which is a nice alternative when you stand in front of this restaurant and look at the alternatives around the area for a quick bite (Good Times, Burger King, KFC, Pizza Hut / Wing Street). I had noodles both times so I can't say much about the breadth of the menu.

    (4)
  • Christy R.

This was the best vermicelli I've had- SOOOOO delicious. The only reason this place gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because the service was really terrible. I'm not high maintenance at all when it comes to service (I'm a waitress so I get it), but this place tested even my limits. Worth it for the food, though.

    (4)
  • Ratha O.

Best Pho EVER!!! I love this place!! The service is great and the interior is clean and open. You can actually carry on a conversation without the table next to you ease dropping. I usually order a medium with rare steak and their spring rolls as well. My friends and I will usually place our order over the phone and they will have our table and food ready by the time we arrive!!

    (5)
  • Lao I.

Great place to go to when in need of a fast, cheap and delicious meal... Love their selection of Boba's. I love going there because the place us never pack. Always get right to a table and no need for menus. I order right way. I'll have my food with in 15mins or so.

  • Roger T.

Came here for lunch. Coming from California I gotta say the pho was pretty good. Good portion size for a medium too. Friend had the banh xeo which didn't disappoint either. It was a little greasy, but it came with a lot of veggies to balance it out. Service was more timely and polite than most Pho restaurants I've been to. Would come again for the pho.

    (4)
  • Christopher M.

Been here twice, the vegetable broth pho is definitely not bad. We tried a few other pho places in the area upon moving here and thought we wouldn't find a good pho place, but this works well. Service was fine, no hairs found in our food and the price is reasonable. Overall, we would come back.

    (4)
  • Joe T.

Skimpy on eggs for price. Pho was standard, nothing special. Tap water taste horrible, metallic tasting. The need new pipes or a filter. Assume they use same for broth, but all the spices mask it.

    (3)
  • Luna S.

My least favorite place to have pho. I would never recommend this place to anyone or ever come back again. My fiancé and came in for lunch one day and there was a fruit fly on the plate of egg rolls we ordered and a hair in the whipped cream of my boba.

    (1)
  • Marie F.

This is a real favorite. I have been here three times now and the whole experience is very consistent. The Pho is absolutely the best. The broth is extremely flavorful. The herbs, and vegetable garnishes are extremely fresh and flavorful as well. The meat is always very well handled and tender. Just packed with flavor. The ambiance is nothing special, but it is clean. They always have a tv playing and often old episodes of Friends are on. It is a nice place to slurp up your Pho and read the paper or chat with friends. It feels somewhat diner-ish in the fact that it is really laid back and comfortable. This last time, we also got the Vietnamese crepe which was excellent! It was packed with flavor and clearly made by an expert hand. We always leave very full and satisfied with smiles on our faces.

  • Amy S.

Awesome pho. Out of the three in this shopping center (here, Pho Duy, Golden Bowl), this place has the best pho; though, their prices are a bit higher than the others. We tried a few other dishes which were also tasty, and had some tasty exotic boba shakes. Golden Bowl is still my favorite in the area (more choices, lower prices), but Pho 79 is definitely a solid choice.

  • Dustin F.

This place is located in an Asian strip mall next to a huge Asian Super Market (which, BTW, you should really check out)....and it is one of two or three Pho places to choose from. We selected this location, based on my Yelper friends, and were not disappointed. I ordered the 'traditional' pho with lot of meats (including the tendons and other odd selections - at least according to traditional American palettes), My wife ordered an egg omelet-esq.. dish that was wonderful as well. This place was a great pho location, but nothing noteworthy worth of a 5-star review!

  • Jessica S.

This is the only place I will go for pho. Used to frequent the place with my best friend 9 years ago. Moved away and pined for the laid back atmosphere, quick service, polite staff and of course delicious and piping hot bowls of pho. I've recently moved back to the area, and my then best friend is now my best friend AND boyfriend. He and I love going back to Pho 79 for a taste of nostalgia and a bowl of warm goodness. Comfort food. Highly recommend!!!!

Without a doubt, this is one of the four best pho restaurants in the central Broomfield area. They have everything I look for in a pho joint - good broth, indifferent staff, and lots of Chinese people.

    (4)
  • Demitria M.

Our favorite pho! They usually know exactly what we want, and always know the extra fixin's we like and always bring those out. This is the only pho we go to, and will continue too.

  • Alice K.

Food: 2 Service: 2 Unsatisfying in so many ways. Crappy service (worst than all other Asian places), crappy broth (too salty and un-pho like), and slightly overcooked noodles. Next to Pho 79 IV is Pho Duy and Golden Bowl (which was recommended to me by a friend) - with the other Pho places around, I surely won't be returning to this one.

    (2)
  • Kerry L.

Best broth and noodles I've ever had. My only complaint is the chicken is tough. They should use boiled/shredded chicken.

    (4)
  • Ken S.

Well, so much for that. They're not as good as they were three years ago, when I first started going here. They've rotated through their wait-staff, and the people who were there were more experienced. It almost seems as if they've hired new chefs who don't really know the old recipe, and thus, the taste has gone slightly south. And not in a good way. It's become a little watered down, and not as strong as it used to be. They had to correct my noodle bowl twice; I order without green on top (as do many other customers) and they came back with onions on top. "No green means NO GREEN." All in all, I'll continue going here. But Pho Saigon is now my #1 choice in Pho in the area.

Our favorite pho location! While the service isn't spectacular, the food makes up for it!

  • Mi F.

I broke my cardinal rule of not eating at any of the Vietnamese pho restaurants in Colorado and lived to regret it. At least this place is light on the MSG compared to the other choices in the area. Pho broth should never contain MSG. MSG is used to simulate the sweetness that comes from beef bones. It is kind of like drinking Tang instead of real orange juice.

  • HK C.

If there is No Star option, I'd pick it for poor excuse for service they offer! They were never that good to begin with, but the last visit over past weekend was horrific. Hence, they received no tip, and they're food isn't good enough to deal with their lack of service. Their pho is ok, their side veges are always wilted and better composted then eaten, and water tastes like an old dish rag. I'm curious how many health violations they have. I'll have to look into that. Anyway, just as I was about to walk in to the restaurant during my last (and final) visit, I saw a huge vomit near the restaurant, which should have given me a clue to turn around and leave. Dine at your own risk!

Pho 79 has great food and quick service. I stop in at least once a week to grab a bite to eat. The portions are greater than other Pho restaurants in the area and the flavor is great. I always take coworkers with me to enjoy the food. Pho 79 is the best Pho restaurant in north Denver! Highly recommended.

2nd best Pho in colorado (at least that I have tried) portions are great!

Hannah's glowing review of this place made this the 5th store in this small piaza on the S side of 120th. I've hit POM, Pho Duy, a Chinese massage place and that dim sum place people rave about here. This place...well, it's being tempered by the massive headache I have right now, but this place probably has the best pho N of I-70 and west of I-25 that I've had to date. And since Pho 95 isn't going to be opening a new store in my neck of the woods anytime soon...this just became my new go-to place. Hannah's 1/18 review oretty much covers everything I wanted to say...the pho is amazing, HUGE portions of fresh veggies (I can say this, having gone twice in 4 days), basil, bean sprouts, jalapenos, you know the drill, pho lovers. The broth is *awesome*. SO GOOD! If you get it to go, they basically pack all the ingredients separately for you -- just so you know what to expect -- including the meats, so into the fridge if you're getting a huge order. *You've GOT to try the crepes here -- egg batter surrounds bean sprouts, sliced pork, and other tasty goodies*. Only order this if you're hungry or want leftovers -- these are not like, say, IHOP or Original Pancake House crepes. There is a more relaxed atmosphere here...and it's got a cozier, better decorated air, too -- than Pho Duy, less than 100 yds away. Pho Duy seems like people rush in and out; people seem to be more likely to hang out here. Whether it's a weekend day or a weekday at 8-9pm, the place will be moderately filled, but not so much you and your companions can't find a seat. I might not have stumbled in here for a while were it not for Hannah's awesome review...tipping the hat to you, H. Nice find. People will like it here if they go. (Oh...pho tendon is *slightly* inconsistent...1 order I had amazingly tender tendon, the next order was half tender and half tough/chewy/cartilagey, Bleh. That's an update for H.) I took pics and will post them up at some point.

Food was great and service was good. I originally went to Pho Duy next door but walked out due to bad service. This place is about a dollar more expensive per dish and nicer inside.

Best Pho I have had in Denver, really tasty. The palm trees just add to the ambience. All of the Pho choices are good, you won't be disappointed. I'm usually here for lunch, and the service has been good.

Better than most, but no 5 star today. I enjoyed the food, even compared to the west coast packed with pho places. I would love to bump this to a 5, but the service was quite slow on food when the place was decently slow for a lunch. I would say the staff was lazy (don't sit down and play on your phone pretty much in the middle of the room) until the place started to fill, and then the water refills were frequent enough.

Ok, I love this place. We had a great waitress, Lilly, who was very attentive to our needs. She was great! She worked hard, hustled, and I appreciated that. The pho was awesome, and my friend had the rice combo. I loved the freshness of the veggies, and the broth was mostly clear and spiced very well. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because they put too much meat in the bowl!!!!!!! Strange, right? But i felt obligated to eat all the meat and was stuffed afterwards :/

Stopped in here twice in one week while my parents were visiting. (They're from San Antonio and don't live near any Vietnamese places.) I have also stopped in for a girls' night a few months ago. The food is good, and apparently everyone knows it because it's also very busy. I've tried the noodle bowls, summer rolls, boba, and pho. They're all equally tasty. Their homemade fish sauce isn't very fishy, but if you add some of the bottled fish sauce on the table, it adds a little extra salty fishiness. My issue with this place is the service. Neither of our servers wrote anything down. This is fine, if you have a fantastic memory and can remember all the orders correctly. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Both times we went in the last week, at least one of our orders was wrong (or omitted completely). One of the times he forgot our appetizer completely and brought me the wrong flavor of boba, and the 2nd time, they got my dad's order wrong. Not a huge deal, but something to work on.

First off, the staff there is so awkward! Every time we go, I can feel eyes on me. The food is pretty good but the only thing is that they add tip to your bill and won't tell you. So if you end up putting a few bills on your table before you leave, you really just double tipped them. I'm hesitant to go back because of the creepy staff.

After reading about this place winning a pho review round-up in a local publication, we decided to veer from our old standby, Pho Duy, to give it a shot. We had a pleasant first experience. Since then, I have to echo some fellow reviewers who had a negative experience. On a cold 20-some degree weather day, we were all craving hot bowls of soup. We were totally let down. Issue #1: Shitty service -- you have to wave someone down to get anything and even when you ask, they don't remember. My young son hasn't yet mastered chopsticks, so we had to ask twice for a fork. Also, the servers were all watching football on the TV (which I find inappropriate and annoying in a non-sports bar environment anyway) or on their phones. Not cool. Issue #2: Lukewarm broth. Typically, when I order rare meat, the broth is so hot, it instantly cooks the thin slices of rare meat. My rare meat didn't really cook, it just sat. Edit: Issue #2a: Gross meat. I practically had to tear at it w/ my hands to eat it, my teeth were not able to handle it. Also, some cuts of meat had gristly, hard rinds surrounding them? WTF? If it were fat, that'd be okay, but it was not! YUCK. Issue #3: The small bowl at Pho Duy is very satisfying for me, portion-wise. The small bowl here is tiny and has very few noodles. Issue #4: Inaccurate orders. My bro-in-law requested a # whatever w/o tripe and tendon and of course, he got the tripe and tendon. Also, why do pho places always have all these random combos of meats, but never the combo you want? Why can't it just be like a pizza place where you pay for the # of toppings you get? I know a few places like that in WA state, but it's never as cost-efficient as getting the weird combos. Won't be returning.

Meh. I tried to introduce someone to their first bowl of pho here....she was NOT impressed and could not figure out why in the world I kept raving about this stupid soup. Sigh. I may have lost her phoever unless I can get her down to a real joint. Service, forget about it - it is forgetful, as were we. Pho, OK, nothing I would drive out of my way to get. I know the best bowl of pho is the closest to you, but not in this case. Meh.

My boyfriend and I were craving pho, so we went to the Broomfield epicenter of pho and went to 120th and Main. There's like, 6 pho places in one square block. So we decided on Pho 79 because a co-worker recommended. We ordered the spring rolls, which in my opinion, were just ok. The rice noodles in the rolls were really sticky, literally sticking to the top of my mouth. Even dipping them in the peanut sauce didn't really help. I don't get what the big deal is about them, am I missing something???? I went with the large medium flank and rare beef combo. My boyfriend had the combo bowl. Both our bowls had tendon AND tripe in them, which was disturbing. I have never liked tripe or even just seeing it makes me gag. It was not pleasant trying to fish the tendon and the tripe out of my soup. I shouldn't have to do that if I DIDN'T order that! I would say the pho was just okay. I would normally finish the soup, and didn't this time. It just seemed like it was pretty run on the mill pho. Also, when I asked the guy up front when we were paying our bill about why we both got tripe and tendon in our soup, he immediately said "Well you ordered the wrong one then". Good customer service goes a long way here, guys!

Very good Pho at very reasonable price. If you plan on going for lunch, your best bet is to arrive a bit early, or quite a bit late. If you hit it up between noon and noon-thirty, you may have a wait on your hands. I recommend the tripe. If you don't know what that is, just try it, guess, and then I'll tell you later.

I'm a regular. They know what I want when I walk in the door and anticipate when I want my drink refilled before I need it refilled. Their pho is great. I could see how others might say the service is "lack luster" but lets just remember that english is their second or third or fourth language... You can't expect really good food at a decent price from another continent without a language barrier without a ridiculously high price. Bottom line. The food is good. If you need a refill raise your hand to ask. It's not 5 star dining but it's good food.

Good pho, as expected. Service was weird. They waiters all congregate in the back and talk instead of walking around to see if we needed anything else. I had wave them down twice...once for water and the other for more meatballs.

Spring roll was ok... For Colorado Pho its pretty good... Definitely not gonna top NV or CA. The customer service is pretty bad... But I guess I'm here for the food not the service. The service would just be icing on the cake.

Awesome pho - it was the perfect thing for my sick girlfriend, and some of the best I've had this side of Saigon. Huge portions: a medium was enough for both of us, with plenty of every ingredient you might want to add, and decent-quality chicken instead of odds and ends. Pretty decent Vietnamese spring rolls, too, although they didn't stand out as much as the pho.

Fantastic Pho! In a area where there are 4 Pho places in a one block area, Pho 79 IV is a standout.

Since I last reviewed this place, I've eaten a lot of pho. I have graduated from just getting rare steak in my pho to getting the works, from fat brisket to tendon to, most recently, tripe. Basically, I'm no longer a pho virgin, and I'm more confident in my analysis now when I say: this place rocks. The other night, a friend and I were going to go to a Japanese restaurant in Broomfield (I won't diss it or even name names because we didn't get to the point of tasting anything there) but when we saw the place, looked at the menu (which included a chicken and cheese maki... um), and smelled the aroma permeating the air, we actually changed our minds and got up from the table. We needed a nice warm comforting place where we'd feel at home and KNOW we would get great food. Where'd we choose? Pho 79. It's homey and friendly in there, the air thick with pho spices and with the sounds of slurping and laughing and football on the TV. We ordered a medium pho with pretty much everything, an order of banh xeo (Vietnamese crepes), and a jackfruit daiquiri. We all know about the pho already. It's good. Great deep broth, accompanied by fresh vegetables, stuffed with meats. The only bad thing I have to say about it is the tendon's nowhere near as tender as Pho 95's. But the rest of the meats are perfection. I'd never had the crepes before, and was kind of taken aback by how good (yet bizarre) they were. Pork and shrimp were baked into the crepe wrapping (rice flour and coconut milk), then green onions and bamboo stuffed in the middle. I had to guess about how to eat them (I like to think I'm good with chopsticks, but eating a large, delicate omelette-y thing with them is going a little far), but they were delicious! Their fried oily goodness mixed well with the healthy, wholesome pho. And the jackfruit daiquiri!!!!! I'm comfortable saying it's the best one EVER. Like someone liquefied 20 jackfruits at the peak of ripeness and then stuffed them all in my cup and topped it with whipped cream. Jackfruit is not and should not be a subtle flavor. It is weird and tangy and almost vegetably and knocks you upside the head. This daiquiri delivered the goods. I would drink one every day. With the chunks of fruit all over it, it's almost a meal.

Our summer rolls were gritty with a sand or pebble like substance?!?! They did take it off the tab, when we explained it to the cashier. The combo bowl I had was good. The service was non existent !!!! Our "server" just dropped off our drinks in 1 spot on the table and left and we never saw him again. In fact, my husband had to go to the kitchen entry and yell for someone to give us our tab so that we could get outta there! I would never come back here! NEVER AGAIN will I come back to this place.

I really the pho here. I got the one with BBQ pork and shrimp. The broth was very good and of course all the basil, sprouts, jalapenos and lime you need. The shrimp were huge and weren't overcooked. There was quite a bit of pork too. The medium was a good size for lunch. I also got a boba drink because I like boba pearls so much. I ordered the chai but I think I the Thai tea one, doesn't matter it was still pretty good. Hubby got the beef brisket, flank and skirt (he thinks) which he liked too. A great place for lunch if you are in the area and cheap.

This is the best pho I have had up north to date. Granted, I have only went to one other place (Pho Duy) up in Broomfield so take this with a grain of salt. I met up with Dave S who so graciously drove up from Denver to accompany me on lunch the other day. Although he was not so impressed I enjoyed my bowl of pho very much. We both ordered meatball and brisket which isn't a normal offering on the menu, thusly I think that is why my small bowl totaled to be almost $8. Regardless it was fantastic. The broth was very tasty but could have been just a tad bit warmer. I love my pho piping hot! My other complaint-not nearly enough meatballs. Also our garnish seemed a little on the wilted side. All in all, an "A-OK" place and a great option for Pho up north.

I have been going to this restaurant for three years and have often come away with a feeling that I have been over charged. They never give you a bill with all the items and pricing listed. You pay at the counter and all you get is what the guy tells you how much it is, and it just never add up. Today I went there again with a friend. We ordered a medium bowl of noodles for $6.75 and a bowl of vermicelli for $6.95. So with tax it should be just about $15. But the guy at the counter told me it was $16.71, so we had to round it up to $20 to include tips. But we ended up giving a $5 tip (33%) for some lousy service - I ordered a medium bowl noodles and got small. When I told them that it was medium, the guy came back in a couple of minutes with a medium bowl but the same amount of noodles - which was very few. So why haven't I complained before. Well, who carries around a calculator to a restaurant and calculates the bill when it is not provided to you like any other restaurant? But you get a feeling that whatever you pay, you probably paid too much. I get that feeling every time and today was my proof because I paid attention. But with a friend there, you feel embarrassed arguing about a few bucks. Then again, for the three years I have been going there, I probably have been overcharged for over $100. If you go there, be sure you ask for the bill, with a breakdown of items and prices, because that is the basics of any restaurant.

Yum! This is a great place for pho :) the service is usually fast but it's hit or miss on the weekends...we came here two Sunday's in a row and it was packed with families and as expected, service was a lot slower. Food is consistently fresh and the broth is delish :) don't know about the other dishes though ... I tried the beef rice dish and the beef was cold.. Best to stick to the pho :)

This is the first pho restaurant I tried in CO, and it's by far the best! I've tried all 3 locations and they're all pretty consistent, and services are usually quick. I'm originally from CA and the pho restaurants there offer a lot more variety of pho dishes, but Pho 79's pho in general is good enough. We always eat here if we want good pho especially on a cold, raining, and/or snowy day. Food, service, atmosphere, cleanliness, and price are all good so they get 5 stars from me.

the broth was very good but not quite hot enough... good but not what I am used to. :) I was not super pleased with the veggies plate but served my needs. My steak was OK not amazing and the brisket was OK too. The waiter was missing for a while, which was annoying. I wanted more water! When I wanted to pay my bill and was not told to walk up and pay. I saw others getting their tab picked up at their tables... but I guess they were regulars and I was not... so I waited quite a while. :( Ill keep looking for a better option out in my new hood! :)

Great pho, I had the flank steak combo and it was one of the best I've had anywhere. I ordered the large bowl which was enough for a 2nd meal (although the noodles don't really do so well after a night in the fridge). Pretty basic decor and service, in a strip mall with a large Asian market and another Vietnamese place.

This place is my favorite all-time Pho joint. I've been coming here for almost 10 years (I'm pretty sure Pho 79 was here before Pho Duy), and they've just gotten better and better. All of their appetizers are great, all of their drinks are great (I especially recommend the ice coffee w/ sweetened condensed milk) the service is quick and friendly, and the broth, the noodles, the toppings, ALL AWESOME. The more I try other Pho places, the more I appreciate Pho 79, the quality and freshness of their ingredients just seem to surpass every other place. Also, fun fact, if you're not feeling like you want to eat meat, you can substitute fried tofu for beef/chicken in the Pho.

  • Alvaro T.

IMHO, Pho 79 edges out Pho Duy. I happen to like to get the combo noodle bowl (not the Pho, the dry one that comes with noodles with vegges underneath and meat and egg rolls on top). Also, it's cool that they have an actual rickshaw in the restaurant as decor! Both joints are in the same shopping center so you can go back and forth between them to compare, again and again... Yay fish sauce!

  • David S.

If this were based solely on broth, I'd give 4 stars. Flavorful, though lacking in anise. I had brisket and meatball, the latter was more rubbery than I am used to, the former both fattier and tougher. The veggie plate was rather sad, to be honest. Barely enough for my needs, but intended for 3 people. The veggies were all browning and wilted, the limes and jalapenos were dried and old. Service was adequate, no inordinate waits (save the waiter returning to take our order once our 3rd arrived. It did seem as though were were then invisible for several minutes). It wasn't overly crowded, once their initial little lunch rush passed. We were there at 12:30pm on a weekday with several tables free. Pho 79 is an ok option for pho if you are confined to the area, better than its neighbor "Pho Duy", but I personally will not return by choice.

The food is very good. The service can be easy to complain about, but it's as good as you make it. Let me put it this way: Your meal will not be interrupted, but you will get attention if you ask for it. If you're the type to quietly sit and wait for someone to show up, they will leave you in peace. I actually thought I had been to this place before, but I was mistaken. It was Pho Duy that I had been to. Forgive me - there are like 5 pho places in throwing distance, here. The spring rolls are funny. Shimp&pork, fried, or vegetarian. We ordered vegetarian and got the shrimp&pork by accident. Not wanting to complain (and being perfectly happy with either), we just ate them. Apparently, they realized the error and brought out the correct rolls. We were almost done with the first order, but the guy insisted. Both orders were delicious. Though we did prefer the vegetarian... hah. The pho itself - and I speak as a layman... I'm this is my 2nd pho experience ever ... was good. I'm not a huge fan of the fatty meats, but it seems to be pretty standard. Everything tasted AMAZING. The veggies were super fresh and flavorful. After we finished eating, it was quite some time before I got impatient enough to flag a guy down for some take-home containers. He politely obliged. And after getting sick of waiting for our check, I just walked to the front counter. Oh, the guy knew exactly what we ordered. The bill was perfect. So that was my own fault. :) Very, very happy with the experience. I look forward to the next visit.

I use to go here weekly when I worked in the area. Definitely missing that I can't make weekly lunch visits here. Being a regular, the staff was always super friendly. The Bun Bo Hue is simply to die for!!!! Whenever there's family in town we always make sure we make a stop for the Bun Bo Hue!

Only reason Pho 79 IV gets a 3 star rating is due to the service. It's delicious just like any other pho place but Duy inches out to win in my favor when I'm deciding on which Pho place to eat at.

How this place isn't shut down by the health department is a mystery. I am accustomed to the different cultural standards and I am tolerant of some places being a little dirty if the food is rockin' but this place is a toilet. Add in the shitty service and there you go voila' a toilet.

  • Lyndsie C.

Read reviews of this place on Yelp and I'm happy to say it lived up to those. I had the steak pho and I have to say that it had the most flavorful broth I've ever had with Pho. Usually the broth needs a lot of sauces and stuff added to it to be interesting, but with this one I could have eaten it straight and been happy. Also, I had a coconut boba milk tea which was wonderful. The sizes are confusing to me because every one in my party got a small and even that was too large for some people, though it seemed to be a good size for me. I can't imagine getting a larger size unless you're expecting to have leftovers. The price was great too. The one bad thing was that the service was pretty slow. We got waters right away but then it seemed like 20-25 minutes till they took our drink (and at that point food too) orders. Then it was another 15 minutes till they brought out the drinks. Only a few minutes later did the food come out, but before that it felt too long. Though I would definitely go there again, just make sure I don't have to be back at work too soon!
