El Tapatio Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Perhaps coming from New York I'm not as apt to "authentic" Mexican food as most, but certainly this is better than other chains I've been to. I have been here twice in the last month and a half, and I've decided it's a decent place for dinner, and the prices aren't bad. My favorite here is easily the (crispy) chile rellenos. The sauce is spicy, and the filling is decadent and rich. I've also ordered the chicken enchilada, which I did not care for, and the bean burrito, which was extremely saucy and bland. My husband ordered the pork tamales which were excellent. The free chips and smoky, spicy salsa are an added bonus.

TVs in every room, from every angle, and if there's a football game on, the sound is turned way up. We are among that now rare breed who go out to eat in order to converse. We do not dine out in order to watch TV. If we did, we would either sit in the bar, or go to a sports bar/restaurant. Our dilemma is that thanks to Sunday, Monday and now Thursday night football, even places like El Tapatio have become sports bars instead of restaurants. And this breaks my heart because the food here is excellent! Fantastic ceviche, even here in land-locked Colorado. Amazing Shrimp Diablo. Well prepared, flavorful caldos (soups), full of vegetables and seafood swimming in a savory broth. We used to LOVE this place. And if they will ever create a TV-free zone in their establishment (sort of like a no smoking zone), we will come back. But until then, we will dine elsewhere.

Surprised by bad reviews. This isn't the best restaurant in the area or anything but it is good. Looking at the reviews it looks like many people go here expecting to be blown away eating the usual Americanized Mex food, cheesy, smothered stuff. I prefer their steaks, menudo and pozole. Again not the best but pretty good. If this place needs to change anything it's trying to please the burrito people.

These reviews are wrong, this place is good if you get the right things. I personally like the street tacos

We come here often because it's pretty close, but getting decent service is hit or miss. Sit in the bar if you prefer to not be ignored by the wait staff. Plenty of times we've been seated in the dining area only to be ignored for twenty minutes before someone comes to take our order. Ate here yesterday, and while we were attended to in a timely manner, the server was still off. My boyfriend asked for no cheese on his combo plate, and when the server brought out the (microwaved) plate of food, it was drowning in cheese. The server said, "they put cheese on it, sorry.", sat down the plate and left. So he acknowledged the mess-up but didn't want to fix it. We also never got refills :( he came by once at the beginning of the meal and asked if I wanted more water because my glass was empty. He never returned with water, until we were getting the check... he apologized and asked if I still wanted it. The quesadillas are good, but the service is just horrible!

Love the food. Chips and salsa are really good. They serve breakfast all day. The cheviche is really good also. I've had several of their meat dishes and was blown away. This is not texmex or amerimex so if that's what ur looking for this ain't it. It's centered around guadalajara style Mexican food.

So, so bad. Terrible service and the food went uneaten for the most part because it tasted so dry, bland, and disgusting. We waited an hour, during a pretty un-busy lunch, to get our food. If you value your taste buds and how you will feel after eating food, avoid this place at all costs.

Been waiting for 15mins for a waiter to come take my order. Asked the "salsa" guy (they apparently don't take your order, only bring you salsa) to get me a waiter.... Still waiting

The boyfriend and I have been here a few times in the last few months since moving to Superior. Although I admit I usually leave feeling far too full of greasy food, we have had enough relaxing comfortable meals here that I wanted to share my opinion. The staff is always so kind, prompt and attentive. They are cheery and serve everything with a smile. Last time I was there the waitress insisted on even filling up our water bottles we had brought with ice water before we left. As for the food, it is your typical yummy mexican food. Sometimes a little on the greasy side, but sometimes that's what I want.

Very surprised to learn of the lack of 5 star reviews for El Tapatio. With generous portions, fresh ingredients, and friendly service, what is not to like?! Come in with a light stomach and prepare to take some to-go. Also, I highly recommend the nachos as an appetizer.

Large pitcher of House margaritas are a great value. Food is consistently good. I eat at this restaurant once every few weeks.

Not impressed with the flavor of the food or service. Had to go find our waiter in order to pay our bill . My daughter's food had to much cheese on it . This place was recommended to us by the staff at Omni Hotel.

The husband and I decided to try this restaurant for our 2nd anniversary. I love Mexican food and want to try as many Mexican restaurants as I can. We arrived about 8:30 and there were only two other families there. One was on the patio and the other was inside. Of course we were seated in the booth directly behind the other family. (I understand why they do that but it annoys me that we can't have at least one booth between us.) Anyway I quickly regretted not sitting outside. The woman sitting behind us could not control her two sons (or rather she didn't even attempt to control them). Well now you're probably thinking that it's not the restaurants fault. I agree with you that normally it wouldn't be, however the Dad of this loud and abnoxious family was a waiter at El Tapatio. Not only was he a waiter but he was a waiter that was still working that night! So he decided to let his kids wrestle each other and yell in my ear (even when he came over and sat down at the booth the children's behavior did not change). But it looked like sitting outside wasn't a better option either. While the other family was outside eating the staff decided that was a good time to hose down the patio. How rude! Anyways, on to the food. I ordered a combination with a chicken burrito, beef taco and bean tostada. (I don't like beans so the tostada went to the husband.) I found it very odd that not all of the combinations come with rice and beans. The chicken in the burrito was very good (which made up for the store bought tortilla) but the beef in the taco had more of a pate texture than ground beef. Kinda weird but not inedible. My husband ordered a combination with a chicharrones burrito. (Which evidently has beans inside but you would never know from the menu.) The chicharrones were extremely oily but he liked them anyway. About half way through he started moving them off his burrito because there were way too many. The chips and salsa were delicious. One of the best salsas I've ever had at a restaurant. But there's a catch, the first basket is free and the second is $1.75. Really? So they've obviously decided that it's better to save money by not giving you rice and beans and charging for additional chips and salsa. Lame. There were good parts to this meal but the bad really outweighed it. (Like the teeny bopper Spanish music. How is that appropriate for a restaurant? It was annoying and I don't ever think music at a restaurant is annoying.) We may try a different location one day but it'll be a while, I'm sure.

We sat down and waited for a good 15 minutes before the waitress came up. She asked what we wanted to drink, I asked for a hot tea. Several minutes later, they bring me water and an iced tea. No biggie to begin with, but it all went downhill from there. They brought out my salad which was somehow missing the dressing, and the bacon in it was anywhere from undercooked to raw (I picked it out and put it on a napkin and the waitress asked what I didn't like about it and didn't say anything after I said it was raw). My friends were served the entirely wrong thing and when they mentioned it, they took the food away and were gone for another 20 minutes. Eventually, the manager came up and sorted things out - I got my dressing, my friends got their food, but the experience was kind of ruined. The waitress was just awful! The food was pretty decent, when they cooked it all the way. The margaritas are great, if you go, go for those.

I admit I've been curious about the El Tapatio's that seem to be occupying all of the old Bennigan's locations. Curious no more. Stopped in for lunch and found out. I'm not sure if El Tapatio is an improvement over the Bennigan's that was there or not. The menu is extensive - you've got your average combination plates, breakfast dishes (served all day), enchiladas, a few burritos, some specialty plates and lots of seafood dishes. I chose to avoid the seafood pages and went with the carnitas plate and an El Tapatio Margarita. Said margarita was $7.95 so I was expecting a little buzz - no buzz. The margarita wasted precious space and calories. The carnets came out on an enormous plate and while the pork was tender the rice was bland and the refried beans tasted more like cardboard than actual beans. There was a nice salsa that came with the carnitas, even though I was expecting some other sauce or something. The food is extremely average, but the prices are not. I'm happy to pay for high quality Mexican food, but this did not warrant the $11.50 for carnitas and $8 margarita.

We've been going to the location in Golden on our way to and from the mountains for years - it's somewhere the whole family looks forward to eating. When we saw this location open near our house, we were very excited. Unfortunately, it just not the same. The food is decent and served unbelievably fast, but the atmosphere and quality just aren't the same. The staff was very friendly and frankly, too much. There were several tables, but they were staffed for capacity - too many people wanting to help. Additionally, they have too, too many TVs. The food was good and the portions are huge, especially on the combo platters. They start the meal with chips and salsa, but unlike the Golden location, they charge $1.75 for extra chips - pretty amateur. The salsa is great, and by great, I mean flavorful and spicy - it's not the bland, watered down stuff served at most Mexican restaurants. Overall, an okay choice for dinner.

The food is WAY overpriced. GOOD Mexican food shouldn't cost this much. They should have paid me to eat here. I ordered enchiladas and the red sauce was awful. Another Yelper compared it to Spaghetti-o's sauce. They were spot on- it tastes just like it, which is disgusting. My beans and rice were clearly sitting for a while. The beans had a dry film on the top of them and the top of the rice was crispy. (My friend said they tasted just like Casa Bonita's beans and rice, if that's any indication...). I also ordered a side of guacamole and was horrified when they served me nasty, pre-made, just out of the freezer and still practically frozen, store-bought guacamole. Then they charged me $3.75 for it! Yeah, I couldn't believe it either. Everybody's food was gross. I left that place wondering if the cooks/owners had taste buds. This place is flat out disgusting. Definitely can't even compare with the good Mexican food that we're typically used to in Denver. Do yourself a favor and go to Los Arcos or Las Delicias.

My husband and I were on this side of town running errands and stopped by for a bite to eat. It seemed kinda strange when we walked in...everyone was in the bar area and not one person or group was sitting in the dining room. Well, I guess we were the first among a few to follow. Kinda of being the middle of things to do we weren't in a super rush but didn't wanna hang and linger either. No one came to our table for awhile so it gave us plenty of time to figure out drinks and our main entree. Finally, a girl came by to deliver chips and salsa. However, she looked put off because we assumed she was our waitress and wanted to put in our order with her. She left in a hurry and said someone would come by to take our order. What seemed like a decade later a different girl came by to take our drink order but would not take our food order because "Im not your waiter but he'll be by soon," ok then... finally our waiter came by that was finally willing to take our FOOD order. I ordered the vegetarian plate which included a cheese enchilada, tostada, and bean burrito. It was kinda of unnerving how FAST our food came out verses how long it took to actually take our order. My plate was covered in red sauce that looked like a dead animal had been ran over and put on my plate with gross blan tasteless sauce. Yuck! My stomach still turns when I think about it. I can't even remember what my husband got because everything was so forgetful. I believe everything and I mean everything is brought in frozen and heated in the microwave. Could have been an episode of Gordon Ramsey screaming, " Why is everything frozen? Why not make it fresh?" The check came and by then my stomach is rolling . Instead of finishing our day of errands we headed back home it was that bad of a stomach ache brewing. About a block from home my husband looks over and see's my distress...because I'm Not the only one, he's ready to yack it all up like me. Both of us left sick and By the time we made it to the drive way I was running to the door bursting through the front door and praying to the toilet with all the lunch coming back up. I say this with all the conviction I can muster...Do Not Eat Here! Save your money and go to a place that has real fresh delicious Mexican food. Ever hear of Los Arcos. Save your kids, save your yourself run! Run far away from this gross establishment!

Mexican food has got to be in my top three types of cuisine. I have been coming here for a couple years now. The inside of the restaurant is inviting and comfortable. When entering I am always greeted politely by the host. The food portions are large, so be prepared to get a take home box. Sometimes the service is lacking as they forget a table sometimes. The food is good and if you are in the area, I would recommend this place.

Looking for a bar seat after work on a Saturday night, I found long waits at my stand-by bland chain restaurant in the area (hey, I'm from the Midwest), so I grabbed a seat here. The place was dead, the lights were up high (which I detest), as was the Mexican music, and the bartenders were amateur at best. I ordered a marg (ok) and a beef quesadilla (salty, bland, large and with tons of guac and sour cream.) I think my parents would like this place. I probably won't be back any time soon, though.

First the chips were super greasey packed with food coloring. The salsa was good. I wanted fish tacos but they only use cat-fish - Yuk. I went with the boring chicken salad, burrito and chicken enchlada. Also boring.

This was my first visit to this location of El Tapatio - we used to frequent the Arvada location on Wadsworth until all of a sudden it just wasn't very good. So naturally, I was a little unsure of what to expect on my first visit to the Broomfield location. The chips and salsa were plentiful and tasty - and the salsa has quite a bite. On this particular visit, the 3 of us were pretty hungry so we quickly worked our way through 2 baskets of chips. I went with chicken enchiladas suiza - a dish I've had multiple times at the other location. It was so much better at this location - the chicken was actually seasoned and had some kick to it. The service was a bit slow - but it was a Friday night and they were a bit busy - so I'll let it slide this time. I'm definitely looking forward to returning next time I need some Mexican food.

I would have given 4 stars but they are very shady with the Yelp check in. They will not give you the discount. They told me that they are El Tapatio Mexican restaurant and not El Tapatio even though it is listed as the same address. Funny thing is I have been coming here for years and didn't even know they had a check in offer but I wanted to give them a good review to help. After he saw me writing this he brought a new check with the Yelp check in offer. So awkward!! Decent food, poor service.

If I could give no stars I would. Hello- Today 6/19/2015 a coworker and I went to el tapatio for margaritas and tacos, the service was OK, the food was OK, however when going to pay my card was declined. Seeing as today is payday I was confused and asked a different server to run my card because my server was missing in action, when the second server was running my card AGAIN declined, the manager (I assume was a manager by his presence) saw we were asking to have the card ran again he scoffs and LOUDLY ANNOUNCES across the restaurant ITS DECLINED ITS NOT THE CARD. Mortified my coworker paid for both of our lunches, her card worked! After wards I was able to not only go pull out cash at an ATM to payback my coworker using the SAME declined card, I followed up with my bank and was informed that not only was there no reason for my card to be declined, but they can view all "declines" on my account and they saw NO SUCH THING. It's a shame. This is the only half way decent-well....the only Mexican restaurant in this area and now they just lost a loyal customer due to LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. I have worked customer service for over 8 years and never have I felt the need to SMEAR a customer in front of a room full of people. Advice: upgrade your register system and treat customers with respect. At the end of the day your customers are your livelihood. THANKS. -Upset Customer

I felt disappointed that the food was not better. It was average at best. They did have good salsa but I didn't love the chips. The service was average as well. I had always seen this restaurant but had never ventured out to give it a try. Good Mexican food is hard to come by in Denver. Their menu has so many options that I felt overwhelmed by all choices. I chose the tostada and it was ok. My husband had their enchiladas and he didn't love them either. I am not sure this experience was enough to make us want to visit again.

After I had an okay experience here last year, I decided to give this place another try since it is so close to me. We arrived around dinner time as people were slowly filling up the dining room. We ordered margaritas while we looked at the menu. My husband chose his usual, steak fajitas, and I asked our server what his top three dishes were. I went with his first recommendation which is called something Diabla... He warned me that the dish was spicy and I am still glad I went with it. There were large shrimps and the sauce was great! It was a little too spicy for my liking, but I really enjoyed it. The service was prompt and attentive. I had a much better experience than my first visit. We will be back for sure.

The margaritas were decent, I'll admit. The food was not. I read some of the reviews but decided to give it a shot and I was so in the mood for Mexican. First we started off with chips and salsa. The salsa was nice and thick and the chips were thick but good. Then we read in menu they charge for refills on chips and salsa?! Ha ha ha!!! Wow! We proceed to get Mexican combinations with a chile relleno, enchilada, taco, and some guacamole tostada. Ordered a tamale on the side just to try. The meal said it came with rice and beans there was no beans and the rice was maybe a few spoonfuls. As you can see the plates were slopped on with excess sauces. It was bland and lacked any presentation. Everything just seemed barely thrown together and they even charge you for refills on non alcoholic drinks! I showed the waiter my yelp 10% discount and it al oat felt he didn't want to give it to me. We asked for our check to be split in 2 and he said he couldn't. After the look I must have had in my face he came back with 2 checks. Worse experience and really lousy food! You get better authentic Mexican at Taco Bell! I was dissapointed with the whole experience and the fact that they tried to not honor the yelp coupon.

Worst. Mexican food. Ever! Super salty pork in some type of floating brownish sauce. Stay away at all costs.

A group of 7 or 8 of us came here for a business lunch. Half of us got food poisoning real bad. My colleague later told me he thought his vegetarian meal smelled like sweaty socks. So yeah, not so good.

  • Katie W.

Their salsa is decent. But that is truly the only positive thing I can tell you. The chips taste bad; sort of like plastic packaging, which makes it difficult to enjoy the salsa. And the worst part is the staff/service. I'm very unlikely to try this place again

Okay. The service here is IMPECCABLE! Great restaurant...BUT this is not a place for high class food, family gatherings or parties (UNLESS socializing and mingling is the main goal) but GREAT to fill your belly and enjoy it :) good date night!

WORST customer service I've experienced in a very long time and I didn't even make it in the door! I've been in the restaurant industry for 12 years and am boggled at how the manager treated me. My boyfriend and I had just flown back into Denver and needed a quick breakfast before we drove home to Steamboat and other than fast food and diners there wasn't much to choose from. We had to drop something off at the Apple Store before bolting back home and saw that El Tapatio had its OPEN sign ON. Great! We're huge fans of breakfast tacos. So I went up to the door and it was locked. So I called, it was 9:59 when I dialed. A gentleman answered and I asked to place an order to go, he responded with; We are not open! And hung up. I called back and got the same man, I asked when they opened and he said 10am... I looked at my phone and it said 10:02. He hung up again. I walked up to the front door, which was still locked, to see a gentleman and a young girl behind the bar talking. Again, I work in the restaurant industry, so I know you aren't running behind with opening your restaurant if you're chit chatting behind the bar. I called again and the same guy answered, which was the one behind the bar. I asked to speak with a a manger and he said why? Who are you? I said let me speak to a manager please. He said he was the manager. I said well I am out front and would like to speak with someone. He became furious and said; where are you!?!? I said behind the locked front doors. He came out and said; what do you want? I'm dumbfounded. Straight dumbfounded. I asked why the open sign was on and the doors were locked. By this time it was almost 10:15. He said a kitchen guy was running late. So you're telling me that you'll have your open signs on and turn customers away because ONE guy is late? Again... I work in the industry!!! Do you know how many times we ran short staffed? Constantly...and to cop an attitude with me on the phone and in person. Shut your light off and let your guests know that there has been an emergency and you'll be opening an hour behind today and you apologize. DONT be in customer service and a Manager if you don't know how to handle either positions! He then shut the door and turned around and walked away. Wow. Never again will I walk into an El Tapatio.

I was here once a couple months ago and had a great time sitting at the bar. I came in tonight and the bartender, Evony remembered me. That's HUGE in my book. I am on a business trip and any friendly face on the road is awesome!! Evony chatted with me about how work is going, how long am I in town, etc. One will say, "Well of course! She's working tips!" That's FINE with me. It gets old going to restaurants alone on business trips so any extra excitement and friendly service is worth a million! The food is really good! Prices are super reasonable. The combinations all come with 3 items which is really too much food. Most of the combos are under $10. I had a smothered burrito, tamale and beef enchilada. I ended up taking 3/4 of the burrito home which is fine! Lunch tomorrow. I will definitely come back for the good customer service. Bonus that the food is good too!

Great food + service. No food poisoning like in another review. Really impressed that they had a Vegetarian red chili option (their green chili is made with pork) AND that I could get it dairy free. Score! The free chips and salsa were good - like everyone else has mentioned. My meal came in at under $6 on a Saturday (when lunch specials were NOT served) for a vegetarian burrito. If you order a soda, plan to spend a dollar or two more. The next time I go back will be for one of their tasty looking margaritas.

I love Mexican food, and I'm not very picky. But I feel that the food at this place is always just okay, never fantastic :-( but it's not awful. I like the chips and salsa and the cheese enchiladas were decent. I have been here a handful of times and the service is always good though.

Went there again with coworkers. Completely understaffed. Took us 1 min to get chips, salsa, and waters, but 20 min to get a server. We let a host know and she took our order. Another 30 min later we haunt down just anyone since we hadn't actually gotten a server. The guy goes to the back and comes out immediately with all of our food, wonder how long it had been waiting there. The food is pretty consistently good which is the only reason for two stars. However, my coworker was chewing on a piece of plastic that was on the inside of his burrito. Probably from the guacamole bags. This place is a hit or miss. A while ago it was mostly hits, now its mostly misses.

  • Jeri J.

Their chicken nachos appetizer makes my heart sing and their house margaritas keep me coming back... hence the three stars. However - they always seem super short staffed so their service is hit or miss. Pretty dang inconsistent, but always friendly. Definitely don't go here if you're the type of person who gets crazy when your server isn't psychic.. or even if you just want to be served within twenty minutes. Except for the nachos. Definitely go here for the nachos. Did I mention the nachos?!

Very good Mexican food!! Used to go down to Del Taco from time to time but they don't have ANYTHING on El Tapatio! The chicken quesadilla is my favorite. Always hits the spot. The service although is a little sluggish, you mostly have to flag them down but other than that, excellent! Hope they keep it up.

3.5 stars. There are some great things about this place: The salsa that's not too thick and not too thin but deliciously spicy and also the burritos covered with a plentiful amount of delicious, crunchy, and flavorful chicharones. But then there was the lunchtime service which was not so attentive, the cold chips that you wouldn't really crave more of but they'd cost $1.75 per basket anyway, the new but somehow 70's looking decor, and then the music that went from Jay Z to Justin Bieber before finally sticking to Mexican (I think they heard me joke about it). However, my mouth is water for those burritos covered in chicarones right now. Ah crap, ok, I'll bump it up to 4 stars because my mouth is watering so heavily thinking about it.

This place is GREAT! Especially if your hubby want Mexican food and you are craving something else that day.. (Wide variety of Mexican and American food) Usually when my hubby's craving Mexican food, I'm not, but for some reason when he suggests this place I actually do want to eat some Mexican dish. I've been here several times and sooo LOVE IT!! The menu has so many choices and their food is Delicious...mmm..mm.mmm also the Best Salsa EVER! I've had everything from the chimichanga to the halibut and let me tell you, they are all tasty. I still would like to try their steaks, but their food mexican food is soooo good that I have to get it. This is a must place to try and I literally could eat here All the time. The service is great and I like the size of the restuarant.

I have only ordered to-go at this particular El Tapatio. So here we go. First off the orders are quick as usual with any other location. So I am about a 10 minute drive from this location at work. So I call it in and head that way. Each time my food has been bagged and waiting for me by the time I get there. Service over the phone is good as well. I really dislike the fact you have to pay for chips and salsa when ordering a meal. Plus I have noticed the salsa at this location is not the same as the other ones. They use way more tomato and it taste like you are just eating a can of diced tomatoes. The best one I have been to is in Lakewood by the Belmars, which is worth your time if you are in the mood for Mexican in that area.

If you're really tired and need a place to kick back after an afternoon at the mall, sit here with a margarita and some chips and salsa. Then leave to have dinner someplace else. Service lacks and the entrees could use a minute in the microwave and de-greasing. This may explain the number of customers at dinner - eight.

  • Renee F.

For the burbs, this place is pretty well above decent. The nachos are great, the steak is delicious in the tacos, and the margaritas are really good. At first, the ambiance is a little chain-y, but honestly, for the price, quality of food, and quality of drinks, I'd definitely go back!

So my wife and I ate lunch there. We both had the 7.95 special snd a soft drink. It ended up costing us over $80. The manager ran our card several times at different amounts. I took a bank statement showing what had happened and the GM has completely ignored me and lied to me on several occasions. Luckily it's only $80. The food is Mediocre the service is horrible. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for mexican food.

So much to say and so little time. Unless you're up for being charged for simple extras that every other Mexican restaurant includes (chip refills and queso on enchiladas to name a couple) and so-so food, skip this place. No joke. The food was "ok" and the prices are high. The only positive thing I can say is that the service seemed good enough.

Taquiza de tacos (street tacos) and micheladas are good. Everything else, meh. Staff are very nice and lots of TVs. I love the crispy tripe! Order the same thing every time

What a bummer! Ordered off the lunch menu, but was charged dinner prices (they wouldn't correct it). Everything is nickel and dimed, like refills on chips. The food is drenched in salty red sauce (yech). The interior is grungy and grimy, looks like an old Bennigans. Won't come again.

The only thing good about this place was the salsa. Came in for Lunch last week. No substitution on Lunch Menu? What a joke Just inform customer there an additional charge...instead The Waiter was extremely rude. Never got a refill on my Iced Tea. Chips are colorful but not flavorful. I got a shredded beef taco and burrito with rice and beans. All of it was poor...including the burnt flavored /unseasoned beans Taco shells should always be home made...this isn't tacobell. So never Again will I return.

My mom loves this place so when I flew in from California this weekend she recommended we eat there... First off amazing faijitas!!! So much meat and veggies and so flavorful. What really made my experience was Angel. My mom knows him from coming here all the time, what a great representative of amazing customer service. He made me feel welcome and at home. Recommend us some amazing dishes and I was incredibly pleased with my experience. Awesome place to relax, have some drinks and good food. Thanks Angel!!!

We were hankering for a sit down Mexican food experience.... It was a bad choice. Service was really lacking. We waited to get our menus, waited to get our order taken, waited for our check... The place was waaaay understaffed. The food was meh. I had a fajita bowl and the steak was tasty, but the rest was pretty bland. The "sauce" that it came with was delivered to me about 10 minutes after the meal. Don't bother.

Super expensive for what ended up being giant portions of bland microwaved food. Our queso was cold, and came out to us with an unappetizing skin of orange glop, followed by my soggy discolored chimichanga that was sitting in literally 1.5 inches of green chili..soup? It was weird. Our waiter stopped by twice - to take our order and give us drinks. I felt like a jerk flailing around to random waitresses across the restaurant, in order to snag some more water. Won't be heading back, there are tons of better mexican options in the broomfield area.

Bone fragment in my chicken enchilada. The server said its normal because they grind the entire chicken. Gross. I asked her to remove my meal from the bill. She took $4 and said its a soft bone. I guess it's okay to eat soft bones. Lol. Margs were good but weak.

Yucky! No thanks, post two bad visits with gross food and terrible service. I should mention that each visit the busser was the most competent and polite person, so give those guys a raise would you.....or at least take some direction from them.

I went in with the word on the street being that the margaritas were to die for. They were not. The margs were too sweet and with no taste of sour or tequila. The complimentary chips and salsa were good but that's about where the good stuff ended. The service was friendly but slow. The food was sub-par. I could have shopped at the Walmart across the parking lot and gotten fresher, better-tasting ingredients. The carne asada burrito was hardly that. The meat was real but had no flavoring other than salt and pepper. The price wasn't bad, considering I selected a $7 burrito. I did walk by the Del Taco on the way out wondering if I could have had the same meal for half the price. I know I could have done better at Chipolte or Qdoba. Some of dinner items were over $20 which just seems ridiculous. I would never eat dinner here.

Sometimes really great food, sometimes OK food. Big portions. We find the location in Arvada to be more consistent.

Great food and huge portions. But we found the salsa to be pretty good if not a little on the hot side.

Really big portions and really big portions. Yummy and good service. Good salsa, too. Loved the fajitas. Not amazing, but better than the chains.

The best part of this new location is the service. From the hostesses to the bus boys (who wear tuxedos), everyone in this establishment is bending over backwards to give first rate customer service. They're cheerful, too! Otherwise, the food is mediocre, but about what I've experienced at other locations in the same chain. The chips are mass-produced, and served cold, not freshly made. The refried beans are good; the guacamole appears to be prepared in a food processor and is a little dull. They serve Coke instead of Pepsi, which is great. I'll definitely be back, although I doubt this will become a favorite.

Customer service was the best I have seen in a long time! Greeted quickly, salsa was fabulous, and meal was very good (steak tacos)! Manager boxed up my leftovers himself! Love this place and will let others know how wonderful it was. Then went home after shopping to discover I lost my expensive sunglasses. I called the restaurant and they had found some (same brand). Turns out they were not mine, but my waiter verified where I was sitting and pulled booth completely out to see if they had fallen. Didn't find sunglasses but did find an amazing restaurant that was represented by the very best customer service by all I came in contact with there.

El Disgusting! I know I have been spoiled when it comes to quality and authentic Mexican food because I've spent the past few years living in San Diego. My expectations were reasonable going into the place, but this was just terrible. The two stars are for the chips and salsa which are good, but the red sauce on my enchilada reminded me of spaghetti o's sauce. Just thinking about it makes me nauseated! I think this would be an okay place to go for cocktails and chips, but that's about it for me!

I'm giving El Tapatio 4 stars for now because they do not have a liquor license yet, and admittedly half the fun of a Mexican restaurant is the margaritas. I work in the neighborhood near El Tapatio, which is in a former Bennigan's. I started getting excited about it when I saw the Coming Soon banners, since my 2 favorite restaurants in the area, Bagali's and Ajuua, had recently shut down. We went the week it opened. I was most impressed by the variety of food on the menu. You don't see many Mexican menus with lobster, NY Strip, or cornish game hen on the menu. They also serve breakfast all day, and have some specials such as Pozole on Fridays. The chips do not arrive hot, but they come with a big bowl of freshly made salsa that has a little kick to it. I had the Chile Relleno plate, and my boyfriend had the steak fajitas. Both had very large portions and tasted great. We were both very happy with the meal. I actually returned with coworkers a week later, and all 8 of us enjoyed our meals. Very glad to have good Mexican food in the area and looking forward to my next visit!

Before going in I called to ask about vegetarian options: I was clearly told "of course! no problem!" Our servers was delightful but told us the beans are not vegetarian ... even in the two Vegetarian Combo plates. They went back to double check with the kitchen staff. Nope, not vegetarian. They comped our drinks which we thought was the right thing to do, but so often the Right Thing is lacking in customer service, am I right? Of course we won't return b/c we can't eat there, but if you're an omnivore then maybe it's okay for you.

Went for first time today. Was quiet in there as we went at an off time. The salsa is delicious: Nice and spicy and not overly runny. They have a huge menu so it was hard to decide on what to eat. I ended up getting the small green chili bowl which was more than enough for me. It's spicy and flavorful but a little runnier than I'm used to. It tastes fresh too which is also a plus. Only negative was that it did not include tortillas for dipping or sour cream to cut the heat. I was happy to see they serve pasole and menudo. A friend of mine got the menudo and he said it was tasty but not as rich as he was used to. Wait staff was very friendly. They filled our drinks and cleared plates as needed and were very attentive in general. Overall was a good experience. I think the food is a little overpriced however. Hence three stars instead of four. (my small bowl was 7.95). I would probably come back again but most likely for happy hour.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
