Big Dog Deli Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

These are my favorite toasted subs in town. They are very similar to Snarf's. In fact they use the same hot peppers at both companies. I've consistently gotten the Mastif which is their Italian sub and I keep coming back for it. The Big Dog (prime rib) and the Sheep Dog (roast beef) are also quite good. The line at lunch time can get rather long so either call ahead or be prepared to wait a little while. There aren't a ton of tables so during a busy lunch you might have trouble getting a seat. Despite these downsides I still love them.

Awesome subs. Very tasty and flavorful subs. Reminds me of home(Chicago)!!! I had the prime ribs and my wife had the St.Bernard (turkey). Both were very good and would be back again for more.

The place may look a little sketch but the food is anything but that. Every sandwich I've ever had is spectacular and the people who work here are rad!

Thanks Yelpers for the great reccomendation! I was in the area for a conference and was craving a good sandwich. Everything about my sandwich was delicious...fresh ingredients, quality meat and delicious bread. SO MUCH better than the sub chains we all know. Don't be put-off by the look of the place inside...the food is what matters.

After reading other reviews, I couldn't wait to try out big dog for lunch. I had made up my mind to try the meatball sub even before I got to see the full menu. When I walked in around noon, most of the tables were taken and there was a long line. I also noticed how hot it was inside due to the toaster. It is a little too hot to thoroughly enjoy a meal there. My order was just below $7(this included a drink)and I really like that I didn't have to spend over $10 on a sandwich. The sandwich itself was good with plenty of meatballs, cheese, and marinara sauce. The seasoning was also perfect in my opinion. I can't wait to try other sandwiches on the menu.

This is thee best place for an Italian Sub all there subs are named after dogs so the Italian is a Mastiff so good with extra sprouts yes i said sprouts not a lot of places sell sprouts but this place still has them i get mine with no peppers i just think it taste better that way but if you are in Broomfield,CO i highly suggest coming here for lunch/dinner be aware that lines do get a little long for lunch but it is beyond worth the wait just make sure you have the time for it. My mouth is watering just writing this review i could use another Mastiff!

This is a cool little sandwich shop in Broomfield. I tried the Italian/Mastiff and it was definitely good but didn't seem like the best I've had. I guess other peoples comments had over-hyped it for me. The staff was very friendly! Definitely a place to check out if you're in the neighborhood.

This place excels at something that I, having moved here from Jersey truly love and appreciate - a no frills, hole in the wall that serves simple but delicious eats. If you're a Boulder-ite you know Snarf's. Loud, busy, good sandwiches, homegrown staff, and lots of options. This is like Snarf's with less look-and-feel appeal and WAY BETTER sandwiches. I love their Collie (BLT) and my person likes the Mallamute or the Big Dog (meatball and prime rib, respectively). We generally go in and pick up to eat at home. The floor is pocked cement, the walls are all different colors, and their tables are a mish mash of different lawn furniture repurposed for guests. But their sandwiches are perfection. The one time there was an issue with one of our sandwiches, they replaced the sandwich with a lot of grace and humor, and said "please grab extra drinks and chips for your trouble!" I appreciate their service AND their quality as well as really digging their vibe . . . Just writing this makes me wanna have that sandwich for lunch . . .

4 co-workers and I decided to go to Big Dog Deli on the premise that Big Dog Deli served various styles of hotdogs. Since this business does not appear to have an online presence, it was difficult to ascertain exactly what we were going into. When we arrived the restaurant was not very busy. The temperature in the restaurant was what I would estimate to be ~85 degrees if not warmer. The restaurant does not serve fountain drinks. The menu is written on the wall behind the employees. Although the names of the menu items are those of dog breeds, they are less than descriptive when describing the type of sandwich. The sandwiches themselves resembled Quiznos or SubWay's now toasted sub sandwiches. I ordered the 'Mastiff', which is prime rib with your selection of condiments, such as pickles, tomatoes, etc. Others in my party ordered their selection of sandwiches. After our food was served, another person in my party found the prime rib that was dripping with blood to be less than appetizing. The individual took it back to the staff and explained that the prime rib was extremely rare. The female seemed offended that a meal was being returned and responded with "Our prime rib is always rare and you should have ordered the meat medium". That would have been nice to have something on a MENU that explained the meats and how they are cooked. When the individual apologized and explained that this was our first time to Big Dog, the female responded with "K, just throw it away over there (pointing toward the trashcan)". As the individual in my party walked to the trashcan, the female said "I'll remake the sandwich and won't charge you for another one this time". This time? So customer satisfaction is not something we *always* strive for? Interesting business model. I found the sandwich itself to be okay; nothing that I could not make at home or find at Quiznos. The cost was $11 for a sandwich and a bottle of root beer. Personally, I will find somewhere else to eat that offers air conditioning and customer service.

After reading all of the 4 and 5 star reviews I was pretty excited to try this place out. Um.......I would say that the service was good (fast and polite) but otherwise this is just a run down Mom and Pop Quizno's. And truthfully there is nothing wrong with that. However, it's now clear to me now that most of these 5 stars review are from people that have never been to a real delicatessen. Ever. The cornerstone for ANY good deli is having good bread options These guys have one.........a white half baked sub roll. When I said that I didn't want my turkey sandwich hot I was told that the bread is only half cooked and was advised to at least run the bread and cheese through the conveyor belt oven. Fine whatever, these guys are trying, I give them props for that. But to not have a second bread option is well..........Quiznos (Quiznos actually has several options). And for all those who posted 5 star reviews, here is a real deli to check out. saltandgrinder.com

FOOD: GREAT! I ordered the Great Dane (Ham and Cheese). The cheese was excellent. I think it was melted american/nacho type cheese. I could see some not liking it, but I loved it. Ordered all veggies on the sandwich (except mushrooms). Everything was fresh. The sandwich was put together well, not falling apart or spilling all over me, or overfilled with lettuce (like subway tends to do). The bread was fresh, and toasted just right. SERVICE: I got it for delivery, because I'm lazy and work across the street. The $2 fee is understandable for farther deliveries, but I decided to be lazy. The girl who answered the phone sounded very upbeat, and sweet. I think being cordial is very important in ALL aspects of life, but especially if you are in customer service. She sounded beyond cordial. The fella' who delivered the sandwich was very nice too. PRICE: online they say $1 for delivery at this website orderup.com/restaurants/… It would be nice if they updated this. I don't like surprises of this sort. Total cost was $12.67 for a 9" sandwich, chips and a drink. It is a little steep, but I feel worth it for the quality of sandwich. I don't like that they close at 4 pm. I could see myself wanting to pick up a sandwich before I head home from work, but that, obviously, is not an option. :( I will definitely come back. COMPARISON: Much better than Quiznos, Subway, and Jimmy Johns. Better joints nearby: Jason's Deli (more expensive though). I Big Dog is about equal to Snarf's. I love Snarf's.

Good sandwiches with no frills. If I did not know any better, I would say this place is Snarf when they used to make good sandwiches with no frills. So if you want a no frill place that is all about the sandwich, then Big Dog Deli is it. We tried the meatball and the roast beef sandwiches. Both were delicious and filling.

  • Melissa C.

These guys really do have excellent sandwiches. They are very tasty and well-seasoned. They are quite pricy, however, so if you want a 6 to 8 inch sub that costs you 7 to 10 bucks, then you're okay. I think that the names of the sandwiches are really cute. (They're all named after breeds of dogs). They are usually pretty packed, so that means they do good business. I use them for their delivery to my office area for lunch.

  • Ryan F.

Hands down the best sandwich I have ever had the pleasure of putting in my mouth! You will literally dream of these subs! However I seem to crave them most when they are closed. The staff is always friendly and cater to my odd requests. This place is a little "hole in the wall" spot but man, they never disappoint. I always get the St. Bernard (turkey and Swiss) and my boyfriend enjoys The Big Dog. Don't let the look of this place fool you, the quality will blow you away. I swear their secret is their bread. They also toast your sandwich, which is an A+ in my book!

  • Jeremy J.

A little dirty, a little dingy but huge on taste. Kind of like eating at a street vendor that makes sandwiches made with bits of real awesome. The Collie with avocado is my personal favorite here. Lots of choices and something for everyone. Prices are on par with other sandwich shops, but I have yet to find another place that delivers on taste like these guys will. Plus the bread is fantastic!

  • Brian T.

What a rinky dink place, and what great sandwiches! Aside from the long line of people at lunch, at first glance you wouldn't guess this place makes amazing sandwiches. The interior of the restaurant is fairly drab with concrete floors and plastic patio furniture for tables and chairs. The kitchen sandwich oven is tiny and looks pretty lonely by itself. All concerns go out the window however once you try your freshly prepared sandwich. The portions are big, the bread is always fresh with a nice crunchy exterior, and the toppings are great. I'm partial to their chicken salad with bacon sandwich however, I believe they're famous for their prime rib sandwich (also a good option). Due to the longish waiting times that are frequent during the lunch hour, I tend to order over the phone and then just pick it up when I get there.

  • Molly S.

Delicious subs!! If you can deal with the rude, angry blue-haired chick you'll enjoy a very tasty sandwich with a good veggie selection.

Just found Big Dog Deli a couple months ago. Has not disappointed. Mastiff is my favorite but the others have been great as well.

  • Tim T.

Great little find in the middle-of-nowhere, Broomfield. Always busy on week day lunch hour but the staff pumps out the sandwiches quickly. Love a good hole in the wall sandwich shop. The mastiff (Italian) is delicious.

  • Lance A.

I gotta say, this is one of the best deli sandwiches I've had to date. Ambience: not much, feels like you're just eating in a big room. Don't come here for an anniversary. :) Service: friendly! Sandwich: I had the Mastiff, because I'm a meat-eater. I like my meats on the salty/herby side, and this didn't disappoint. It blended well with all the other toppings, and the fact that it was delivered hot was perfect. Bread was crunchy on the outside, spft on the inside. Very good flavor overall...would come back if I lived here. Dessert - cookies were good...you could tell they were fresh baked. 4 star only because they could use a little more cheese selection.

  • Greg D.

Been coming here for years. The St. Bernard never disappoints. The shop itself is nothing to look at but who cares their sandwiches are crazy good. I took my wife for the first time and she asked me why I've been hiding this place from her. One time and you'll be hooked.

  • Mark N.

Just had for first time on a lunchtime order for work. Even though we turned in a written order, many parts of the order were messed up. My sandwich was so different from the simple sandwich that I ordered, that I seriously wonder if they can read. Will not be going back.

    (1)
  • Ricky T.

Great sandwiches, but a total lack of selection. I don't go back because they just don't have the kinds of sandwiches I want to eat.

    (3)
  • Heather R.

After reading the reviews I was excited, but staff was rude and even said she F#%#ing didn't want to deal with customers... I got the tuna sub and it was nothing to be excited about very bland. I will definitely not be back again.

  • Tim S.

I have heard about Big Dog for a while. I went last week for the first time and it was awesome. I had the Mastiff which is and italian sub and my wife had the Husky which is a veggie. The bread is awesome...and the meat on mine was great. The only thing I didn't like was the jalapeño mix...it had carrots in it, not a big deal. Also make sure you go on Free Cookie Friday...they give you a free CCC.

  • Steven W.

Big Dog is the place to go for a meatball sub. Honestly I have only tried their meatball as it is so good that any time I go back I have to order another meatball sub. Sometimes the lunch line can be at bit long but I have to say certainly worth the wait. The best meatball sub I have ever had and I have lived all over the east and west coasts... happy eating! Steve

  • Elyse T.

When I first stepped in I was a little worried as presentation is not the focal point. But when I took that first bite, I was in heaven! This certifies as the best "hole in the wall" hot sandwich joint!

    (5)
  • Sierra G.

Great place for a sandwich if your in the area. Price is comparable to Snarfs- but I'd say not quite as tasty. I got the Big Dog- prime rib sandwich- it was a good lunch. The place is small and run down- but I didn't mind. I went early at lunchtime and didn't have to wait long.

    (3)
  • Brian G.

One of the hidden gems of Broomfield. I lived here over a year before I found this place and had gone to many other sandwich shops which were just sub par. The only complaint I can find about this place is that sometimes you may have to wait in line because others have found out there's actually a good sandwich shop near by! The sandwiches are decently sized. Order what you like, get everything on it and enjoy! Great service/People as well. Only wish I had is that they were open later!

    (4)
  • Brad F.

Really good sandwiches in a no-frills environment with friendly people, a good selection of beverages and plenty of tasty sandwich options. I had the Big Dog with horseradish and it was awesome. A vegetarian friend was also very pleased and highly recommends the Greyhound.

  • Johnny C.

Good sandwhiches. I eat there about 1x/mo. The only drawbacks are: - Lack of seating - AC not up to par on days over 85Deg.

    (3)
  • John S.

Pretty good sandwich. Long line at Lunch but worth the wait. I tried the big dog. I like Salvaggio's prime rib better but this is a close runner up. Definitely would try again.

Finally found a Saturday I could make it over to Big Dog Deli, based on the good reviews on Yelp, and the fact its only a few miles from home. Been looking for a really good meatball sub for a while, think I finally found it! Perfect! Hot and gooey, and the bread was out of this world. I got the 6", just meatballs, sauce and provolone, no extra stuff as I wanted to see what it was all about. Talking to the folks behind the counter afterwords though, they suggested I try it with the hot peppers and onions next time, and I will for sure! My only regret is that I didn't get a 9" ! The only small downside of the place is the hours, as I can't go weekdays (they close at 4, and too far from my work for lunch) and not open Sundays! Oh well, I guess that will make my occasional Saturday trips more special!

  • Keith R.

I Have been hearing good things about this place for a while and decided to go. The hype was real!!! I have been a huge Silvermine fan for a long time with a sprinkle of jimmy johns in there once in a while. This place tops them both for sure. I had the veggie sub with avacado and man it was great the ingredients tasted fresh and the bread was toasted just enough. Whoever runs this joint is doing a great job.

Only been there once, but it seems like my kind of place. Friendly people, simple setup, dog references, great sandwiches.

  • Kathryn H.

Worst service I've ver had. The girl that was working was really rude and throwing a fit even though she still have 15 minutes until close. She practically threw my sandwich at me. The interior is awful, I was willing to give it a shot based on some of the great reviews, however, I will not be going back.

  • Hitashi D.

Great subs. Their bread is amazingly tasty and yes they do toast their bread ... Ingredients tastes fresh and prices are reasonable. It gets very busy during lunch time, but they do take orders on phone for pick up.

I'm giving my review an update. After a few more times here, my lfirst experience with a cold sandwich was an outlier. It is a great sandwich - I especially like the artichoke sandwich...

  • Melissa H.

I've been going to Big Dog Deli for the past 9 years or so. They continue to serve up consistently outstanding sandwiches every single visit. The malamute (meatball) is one of the best I've had. I love it with everything on it. It makes for a blissful mess! The ham & cheese is also outstanding. If you're not feeling the meat craving, then I highly recommend the Husky (veggie w/ avocados). All of the fixings really make the sandwich, including the hot peppers. They toast their sandwiches in a rolling oven which makes the cheese nice and melty and the bread warm and slightly toasted. Outstanding.

  • Talia H.

Okay, I can't admit to ever having actually stayed to eat INSIDE this place but damn... there were four or five months that I was either picking up Big Dog or having it delivered (work is super close). I love this place and I love it even more because it is locally owned and cheap! My fav? Why thank you for asking. Tuna Salad Salad (like an actual salad with tuna salad on it) with Avocados and the Sesame Vinaigrette dressing. YUM!! Their toasty bread that you get with each salad (same thing that they serve the subs on) is to die for. I could honestly make a meal out of the bread alone. Seriously. Good soda selection and pretty nice peeps. Only complaint... Ordered a salad one time and the new girl took the order. She didn't get my name or phone number or delivery address.... I didn't think of it until I was dying of hunger so I had to go pick it up. Supa nice staff... some just need to be trained better. And a slap of new paint wouldn't hurt... maybe a couple more overhead lights... all cosmetic though. Wouldn't change the food for the world! :-) Oh and I wish they were open later...

I like hole-in-the-wall restaurants that produce excellent food. I'm not sure what it is. Perhaps it's my raging hatred of pretense. Perhaps it's my great love of underdogs. Who knows. Whatever the case may be, I love restaurants that make great food. All the other stuff is window dressing. And that is why I really like Big Dog Deli. If you are looking for a truly tasty, fresh sandwich made locally (assuming you live in the area), then you are really going to like this place. The decor is basic going on ugly, the location is in a drab little shopping strip in Broomfield, the presentation is paper wrapped around a sandwich. If you take it to go, you get a plain white paper bag to carry it in. But what a sandwich! So far I've had the Malamute and the eponymous Big Dog, and both times, I have been very happy with the goods. Full of delicious ingredients and toasted perfectly to give it a good crunch and bring out the flavors of the other ingredients. My wife, who is meh about sammies, looked over at me over her sandwich as she bit into it and gave me the "this is so good that I hope you don't ask me for any" look. Drop by, but let's keep this a our little secret, okay? ;) P.S. They close at 4, I think, so if you want to drop by and grab some of these for dinner on the way home, that may be a problem.

The Big Dog at Big Dog Deli is good. Of course, how wrong can you go with a prime rib sandwich with creamy goodness, lettuce, pickles and other accoutrement? It's basically the to-go version of the House of Prime Rib. I also really liked the bread--kinda a dutch crunch bread that held up to the heavy load, but wasn't too bready and filling. Be sure to ask for horseradish since that little kick really helps. I've been told some meatball sandwich is also good, but I just couldn't do both a Big Dog and a meatball sandwich. Ah, the sad limits of my body. The staff are easy going and friendly. The interior isn't anything to look at and there isn't any outdoor seating, which would be nice during good weather.

    (4)
  • Kelly S.

The BEST sub I've EVER had I got the Big Dog and my husband the Mastiff and both were heavenly. Don't let the decor fool you this place has some amazing choices!

    (5)
  • Peter M.

Well, once again, thank the stars for my fellow Yelpers - turning me on to another hidden gem! I had consistently passed up Big Dog Deli for a few reasons: 1. Bad signage - total 80's strip mall look to the place 2. I thought it was a hot dog joint, and I really only go for dog's at a ballgame (It's not - it's a sandwich joint). 3. Lack of notice - it just doesn't stand out... Until you eat there! I had the Malamute Meatball & Cheese. It came recommended, and when I was asked what I wanted on it, I just said, "make it how you like it". I could date this sandwich - it was that good. Perfectly seasoned, juicy in the right places, toasted to perfection... I wanted to take it home and spoon with it. It was a work of genius. Don't let the decor or ambiance fool you. Big Dog Deli is a cut above, to be certain. I will definitely be returning.

Unbelievable, I had the sheepdog. Classic taste great service A must in Broomfield Colorado

  • Bec P.

FAN Freakin Tastic: the sandwiches smell amazing when you walk in, look amazing while being made, and most important: taste amazing. My friend got the artichoke/swiss (Greyhound) and I got the prime rib (the Big Dog) sandwich: I preferred the Big Dog as it was less creamy but both were good. The crunch of the toasted sandwich may very well be perfect. Try them!

    (4)
  • Jessica T.

I love this place. I can't lie, I always get the same sandwich, and that is the roast beef, which I think is called the sheepdog. I love this place because I've never found another sandwich place with the quality meat they have, it is soo damn good! They are kind of pricey, but I keep going back so it must be worth it.

    (5)
  • Gretchen O.

Amazing toasty sandwiches! I stopped in here the other day to grab a couple of sandwiches to go, got there around 12:30pm and the line was almost to the door! Even still, It probably only took about 10 minutes to get my sandwiches. I had the sheepdog (roast beef) It was DELICIOUS! Meats and cheeses are excellent quality, and the horseradish made this sandwich absolutely amazing! Who cares about the atmosphere? It's all about the food here, and they do an awesome job! Can't wait to go back and try another!

  • Richard F.

Meatball Sub was amazing! Priced very fairly!

Always a good sandwich! I ate vegetarian for a month and found out they have 4 veggie selections. I continue to keep coming back and still think it is one of the best sandwich shops around!

    (5)
  • Jonny O.

You come here for sub sandwiches, not cozy decor. And in that regard, they deliver in spades. Likely the best in the whole Denver area. I eat here often and usually get the Mastiff (Italian) sans tomatoes. In fact... I think I'm going to go get one right NOW!

    (5)
  • Claude F.

Great subs here. I like that they have kid sized sandwiches as well. Excellent quality and the prices are good considering how sizable the subs are. 2 can easily share a big sub from here.

    (5)
  • Joe B.

Solid sandwiches. Good prices. Atmosphere is divey but not gross. Could be a little bit bigger for the price.

    (4)
  • Marty M.

So good! Pretty sure these are the best sandwiches ever.

    (5)
  • John A.

It's OK. don't see what all the high reviews are about. I had the meatball sub and it was OK, nothing special, kind of tasteless for a meatball sub.

    (3)
  • Eric D.

Great local shop. The place is in a run down strip mall, and the interior of the store is nothing great. However the sandwiches are great. We have been getting their sandwiches a few times a month for our meetings, and the orders have been great, never mixed up.

    (5)
  • Trevor Z.

The look of this place is a bit iffy. They don't put much into the decor. The menu is on marker board. The furniture is mismatched plastic patio tables and chairs. The walls need paint and the place needs better ventilation. Most of that is forgotten after you finish one of the best sandwiches you've ever ate.

    (5)
  • Mike R.

Like everyone else, I think this place is great. It would get five stars if they had better seating. But maybe that's the charm and reason why its great?

    (4)
  • Kristin H.

One of my favorites! Great place for lunch if you can get past the sketchy appearance as noted in other reviews. I always get the Mastiff...by far my fave, though the tuna salad & chicken salad are outstanding as well. The bread is to die for, and I think I'll run over there now; I've made myself hungry!!

    (4)
  • Anders L.

Hmmm... Let's see... it's only open Monday through Saturday for Lunchtime hours (I think 10:30-4), has lousy signage, you rarely see them advertise, they're in the middle of an off-the-beaten-path strip mall, and they still manage to do a thriving business and get five star reviews on yelp. What are you waiting for? This is clearly the best place for lunch in Broomfield. They have a great vegetarian selection, too. Wonderful, wonderful place. My kids love it, too. Mmmmm. Just thinking about it makes me want to go.

After years of hearing about this place (from coworkers), and reading all the positive reviews on Yelp, I FINALLY had the chance to eat here last weekend. Their (very short) daily hours were the main reason I have never had an opportunity to try it before. Since their site has been down ever since I first heard about Big Dog Deli, I wasn't totally sure what kind of vegetarian selection they had, but I was assured by a couple of people that they had at least a couple of meat-free choices. There were 5 or 6 different vegetarian sandwiches, and you can add several things to each in addition to what they already come with. I got a swiss & mushroom sandwich (can't remember the name) and added avocado. I don't remember what it cost (avocado was .50 extra, though), but I didn't think it was expensive. The regular size was perfect for lunch, and it had a good amount of fillings and was perfectly toasted/melty. It was really tasty and filling enough for lunch. I was expecting to be disappointed after all the stellar reviews, and I don't know that I got the full experience since I don't eat meat, but my sandwich was really good and I would definitely come back (although the hours make it pretty tough for me--I don't eat out during the work week and we usually run a little later than they're open on Saturdays). I would've given 3 & 1/2 stars, but the employees were really friendly so I gladly rounded up.

  • Todd W.

I started with the eponymous Big Dog sandwich and have been single-minded ever since. A juicy pile of tenderly cooked prime rib on a crispy french roll, smothered in brown mustard and horseradish (and/or whatever other veggies you want, wuss). Your breath will never be the same. Ever. The selection of other sandwiches is probably good, but I'll never know (they do seem to have everything on the menu that you'd expect from a decent sandwich shop). I'm also pleasantly surprised to find any restaurant with the entire selection of Stewart's in the fridge (mmm, key lime soda...) The actual restaurant is a hole in the wall, and looks like it might host a skate park on overnights. Don't let that fool you: these guys kick out some mean sandwich.

    (4)
  • Robert T.

Really good meat and bread. It gets pretty crowded at lunch time, so try to get there around 11:30 or wait till 1. Not much seating, but the food is excellent, and the people that work there have always been super friendly.

  • Losh T.

DANK... that really sums it up. Don't worry, I thought they were just some chilli dog place too. Nope.. dank sandwiches.. worth every penny. Take two bites and try to tell me otherwise.

    (5)
  • Scott M.

Good sandwiches. I had the Italian and the tuna salad. The root beer and cream soda was great from a maker I never tried before. The place looks like a hole in the wall, but they seem to be cool with the run down look, so I guess I will be okay with it. Will be back.

The only thing that keeps me from giving this 5 stars is the speed of service. I regularly wait 10-15 minutes for my sandwich. I would go there more often if it didn't almost an hour to go there, order a sandwich, and get back to work.

I have waited a while to review Big Dog because I really thought I had nothing to add to the already glowing reviews of this place. I just can't keep quiet any longer. First of all, I really like the staff and whole feel of the place- unpretentious but their staff is really friendly and cool. The food is exceptional and life changing- a real spiritual experience. I can actually hear angel harps playing when I first unwrap a big 9" Prime Rib Big Dog with hot pepper, mustard and horseradish on that crusty, chewy, warm bread. I always plan on eating half and having the rest later but it just never has happened. Even though I am full, I desperately need another bite (I've come to the conclusion they must be putting cocaine or something in there somewhere). I have had the roast beef as well- same thing. I hear they make a mighty fine meatball too if that's your thing. I would give them 4 stars because they are only open for lunch and closed Sundays so I hardly ever get to eat there but simply can't bring myself to do it.

What is it about this place that makes it so good? It's a little hole in the wall hippie sandwich shop, not much to look at with just a couple tables with lawn chairs and some dated graffiti on the walls. But then there is that line that is always winding out the door. I always order the same thing: The Big Dog- Juicy Prime Rib with Provolone, Horseradish (the real stuff, not the toned down mayonnaise version), and Snarf's famous Giariniera Hot Peppers, all toasted on their Must-Be-Made-With-Crack French Bread. Truly an amazing sandwich. I always order the large (9") with the intention of saving half for later, but somehow that second half never makes it to the fridge. Also, you can't beat Free Cookie Fridays!

It's okay. Had the prime rib and provolone. Rib flavorful but not a whole lot of meat. Bread is good but nothing crazy. I ordered pickles lettuce tomato. They forgot the pickle (or they were so small I couldn't see or taste them). Nice people. Decent food. Eat here if you are within 5 miles or so but don't go out of your way. I don't think many foodies have reviewed this one. Major star inflation. It's a solid place but not more than a three.

I wouldn't have even know Big Dog Deli was there if it weren't for you yelpers. Well, thanks guys! I went into Big Dog Deli with high expectations because of the raving reviews and you guys were right on. I had the Mastiff... salami, pepperoni, capicola, and provolone toasted to perfection. My friend had the St. Bernard... turkey and swiss. Mine was better =) My only complaint is how dark it was in there and they could use a fresh coat of paint. The sandwiches were great though I'll definitely be back very soon.

I have dined here twice and both experiences have been pretty excellent. While the decor of the place might turn some off, you must remember it is just a hole in the wall sandwich shop. The food you get here is excellent and my Italian sandwich has been perfect both times. Service is relatively quick and this is one of my go to lunch spots.

Finally, a great deli that isn't affiliated with some sort of corporate headquarters or brand name. A friend took me here for the first time today and I'll be forever grateful he turned me on to it. The Big Dog Deli is a rare breed in these parts - it is a classic independent deli that serves great sandwiches. Their signature sandwiches are named after dog breeds which is cool. I tried the 'Greyhound' and the 'Big Dog' both great with fresh meats, cheeses and bread - none of that processed stuff (the roast beef on my sandwich was thick sliced and med-rare the way I like it). I actually think the 'rundown-broken-in' look of the place makes it kind of cool. You can tell the sandwiches are going to be good just by looking at the place. Big Dog is kind of hidden away in an industrial part of Broomfield, but if your up around Hwy 36 and 287 and are hungry for lunch, I strongly recommend you seek this place out.

We love The Husky veggie sandwich! Would actually crave it and look forward to when we could come to Big Dog and treat ourselves. The wait can sometimes be really long and the decor inside kind of run-down, and we wished the hours were longer (would sometimes be closed when we'd drive up craving a Husky), but despite that, the taste of that Husky is worth it!

Best ever subs that melt in your mouth!

So far, this is the only five-star review I have given. This place is awesome. I have seen a group of people walk in, look alarmed, and walk out. Their loss, but the place does look a little rough. Don't let the tattoos and piercings scare you: the help are very friendly. And then there's the food. I'm afraid I'm addicted to the meatball. The secret is to order "with everything", or maybe skip one or two ingredients if there's something you really hate (tomatoes, in my case). If you order, say, with "mustard and lettuce only", you'll get a slightly above-average sandwich. Go with everything -- trust me!

Ignore the looks, the subs are great. I forgot the name, but the roast-beef sub is my favorite. Not sure what the owner is up to, he/she must gross 10k a day. And still this place can be classified as a dive. It's also a buried treasure you can only find in a struggling strip mall.

I'm going to dedicate my first Yelp to Big Dog Deli in Broomfield, CO. Big Dog is appreciated for its meat-based sandwiches, which make up about 90% of the menu. However, I have not had a vegetarian sub as delicious as "the Husky" anywhere in the Denver/Boulder/Fort Collins area. The sandwich has large chunks of avocado, good cheese, sprouts, lettuce, tomatoes, mayonnaise, spicy mustard, and delicious peppers. I appreciate that it's not messy... the ingredients remain in between the bread for the duration of your meal. The bread is toasted and has a good texture. It's nice to have Big Dog in my neighborhood, which is largely made up of chain restaurants and furniture stores. I do agree with the point made by many, which is that Big Dog's hours of operation are minimal. But, all in all, I'm hooked.

For those of you who know me well, Big Dog Deli is where I usually procure Saturday sandwiches. When I call in my order (being a regular,) all I have to say is, "I'd like to come pick up some sandwiches please." The response is always, "alright man, see you soon." I arrive 10 minutes later to pick up two Great Danes, toasted and topped to perfection, one marked "his" and one marked "hers!" THAT is what Big Dog has that so many businesses in general don't have anymore. That personal touch along with a great product is what brings me back faithfully. If you find yourself in Broomfield around midday, stop in to this joint and tell them Ted sent you! (also tell them that they need a Sunday crew!)

I have diet willpower like you wouldn't believe it. Seriously. AND, I live in Lodo, so going out to Broomfield just for a sandwich is NOT high on my list of priorities. Big dog deli, however, would make me drive miles and break any promises to myself, the malamute meatball & cheese is THAT good. Ambiance? None. Comfortable dining area? Nope. Best Subs since New York City corner delis? Check. This is the place for good sandwich eats! I can't wait to go back and try some more!

All I can say is yumm. Wish they were open later for dinner. Best sandwiches around.

This place makes me feel right at home. Though the decor is a bit cold and non-bright; the friendly people and great food make up for it. I was able to start eating at this place in high school quite a few years ago and try and help people learn about it every chance I get. I always suggest the Malamute as is with a bag of chips and a cold soda. This place is always a good choice and now that I'm 'All grown up' I'm happy that I work close to this place... AND THEY BRING IT TO YOU!!!

A real deli is a rare find in Colorado, especially in the strip malls along 36. This place is great - all about the food, none of the fake New York kitch decor that so many delis think is necessary. I'll be visiting again.

Definitely a great sandwich. I feel the price could be lower but the quality, fresh ingredients almost make it worth it. i get the Mastiff usually but the meatball was amazing and may be my alternate favorite. And they have cans of Squirt.

Big Dog Deli is one of the best sandwiches places I've ever been to. They have great ingredients and bread. Yeah, the place is a dump but that just adds to the wonderfulness of the sandwiches. I get the Mastiff myself.

Tasty and toasty could be the same word at Big Dog Deli. They are YASMG for sure! Can't believe no one else has reviewed them....anyone, Bueller, Bueller. There is just something darn comforting about walking into a dive. Maybe it's the cheap-date in me but I like seeing the peeling paint (which hubby said could benefit from a chair rail, c'mon, they aren't going to put up a chair rail...) and the fact that all the chairs are wobbly. There's something to that you know, a certain sense of dangerous dining (and not salmonella dangerous either) that gives big dog a thrilling aura. Anyway, anyplace that has YooHoo in the fridge rocks my world baby!

Great meatball subs! Everything is great there, but the meatball subs are the best I've had.

Big Dog has long been our favorite sandwich place in... well, anywhere! Nothing else compares. Great toasted subs made to order. If you don't appreciate the dive atmosphere grab it to go and head to the park around the corner.

When I worked on New York Ave. in downtown DC, I basically had two choices if I wanted a fast lunch: Subway or the Chinese joint up the block. Unfortunately for me, Subway was usually faster. I ate there so often that even to this day--nearly 9 years later--I wretch when someone suggests that we hit "The 'way." Thankfully, Big Dog Deli does not evoke this comparison. The operation is certifiably "un-Subway," from the folks behind the counter who would likely fail Subway's background check (assuming they even do one), to the crappy décor that most reviewers note here. The sandwiches are fresh, however, and the ingredient combinations are just right. I was a little surprised at the portion size of the "regular" (a little small) given the price, so next time I'll have to upgrade to the "large." I also was surprised by how darn crunchy my sandwich was. Next time I'll ask for "lightly toasted." If there wasn't already a 4-star review listed here, I'd hesitate to rain on Big Dog's 5-star parade. It's good, but it was lacking that amorphous-yet-critical quality that puts a place in my 5-star club.

This place is awesome. They have catered to my office for DoD and DoE officials for years now. Everyone one is a fan. The bread is awesome
