My boyfriend and I order food from here so often they know who we are as soon as we give them our phone number! It is consistently delicious and the portions are more than generous. I always end up having leftovers for the next two days, which I love! Yurihana is great if you don't have time to cook but you don't want to go pick something up. I love the panang curry with chicken!

Unfortunately I see lots of bad reviews on here, but I simply adore this place. I came to this place when it was Akiyama, and I loved it, and it turns out my boyfriend knows the new owner. She is the sweetest woman you will meet, and does her best to please the customers when she is there. She often gives us free deserts, and I have seen her do this for other loyal customers as well. This is the best sushi I have had in boulder. Their special rolls are to die for, and I haven't had a bad experience with the food there, but I primarily order sushi. Service is a little shaky when the owner isn't there, i've experienced a few incompetent waitresses, but I have learned to just sit at the sushi bar and hand my order directly to the chef. I have had delivery a few times, and unfortunately it did take a very long time, and was cold. So, for the great experience that I get when i go, go on the weekend evenings when the owner is there, sit at the sushi bar, and order any special roll on their sushi menu. simple.

I'll agree with a previous reviewer "meh." As someone who is part Asian I should know better than to go to a Chinese sushi joint, but I was hungry! Staff is sweet and attentive, but the food is mediocre, average, merely okay. I mean, it's the type of stuff you could buy frozen and heat in the oven and get the same thing for cheaper. I won't be back, there are much better places to eat in Boulder.

Very nice staff. Not 5 star sushi but good. Tempura veggies had way too much batter on them. Cozy ambience with music, a nice touch.

Glad there is good Asian food in Gunbarrel now! The previous place started out good but went downhill fast. It seems that Yurihama is off to a good start and hopefully will continue to be good, and not-overpriced. Thanks to an earlier Yelper we knew about and asked for the secret Chinese menu and then got one of the owners(?) to talk to us about some of the menu options. We opted for the boiled dumplings on the Chinese menu - handmade, good flavor, good sauce, too. I'd like them even more if they were served with the sauce poured over... It's SO hard to find good dumplings here that are not overly meat-y and have actual flavor. These were quite good. Also order Sichuan noodles (Dan dan noodles) - nice and spicy, quite a large portion, we have leftovers. The most interesting thing we ordered, something we had never had elsewhere, Chinese sauerkraut stew. It was a large bowl of Chinese sauerkraut (house made, I think), pork, clear noodles, and lots of flavor. Think of it as a Chinese style ramen or pho. Excellent broth with ginger and star anise among other flavors. Very tasty! The child devoured two Chicken Satay skewers. I tried the chicken too, quite good, definitely on the delicate side, flavor wise. Good peanut dipping sauce. We'll definitely be back. The sushi chefs looked happy, one of them is an owner. Perhaps we'll try some sushi next time. Definitely go for some interesting real Chinese food!

One of the better sushi joints I ate when I was in Boulder.

As far as sushi goes in this landlocked state, it was all right, but nothing to get excited about. We had some rolls, salmon sashimi, and a couple of entrees - green curry chicken and hunan beef - all were fine, nothing more. I'll probably try elsewhere next time I'm craving sushi.

Love this place, so excited there is good sushi in gunbarrel, and you dont have to deal with pearl street or the hill if you dont want

Have ordered take out a few times which was so-so (mushy sesame chicken cold won-ton) but decided to give them a shot for dining in sushi. There was only one other table of people when we went (6pm Friday) and ordered an iced tea and water - after 15 mins of waiting to get our drink and submit our sushi order (w/ three other waiters/waitresses standing around) we decided to leave. On our way out our waiter tried to bring us the tea and I told him that this was apparently armature hour as the place was empty and we still had to wait for a non alcoholic drink - I heard one of the staff snidely remark that we were going to the restaurant next door so we decided to. The fish looked dicey and was wrapped in saran wrap - never a good sign at a sushi joint

Yurihana bills itself as Pan-Asian. They offer Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Chinese. The don't do justice to the first three, and the one thing they do really well is not even on the main menu, and that's the Chinese. You have to ask for the secret Chinese menu, that until a recently, when a translation was made, had only been available in Chinese. Since this restaurant is run by a Chinese family, you'd think they would promote their Chinese food, but I think they are nervous that the local Gunbarel crowd may not be ready for authentic Chinese cuisine. As evidenced by the waitress asking us if we "really wanted the Chinese food" when we ordered. Gunbarrel may not be ready for real Chinese food, but this is the most authentic Chinese food you'll find anywhere outside of Denver. The secret Chinese menu is broken out by regions of China, and has no shortage of dishes that contain tendon, tripe, heads, and tails, all done with great care and offer extreme yumminess. Dumplings, all homemade and highly recommended. There you go, their secret is out.

Thank you Yurihana for providing me with the WORST service I have ever experienced. We literally walked out. After 20 minutes of waiting our order comes out, both rolls entirely not what we asked for. We ordered a Crunch Roll (cali w/ crunchy tempura) and a Spicy diablo roll (tempura fried, shrimp, avocado, cucumber, w/ spicy mayo and tuna on top). What we got was something w/ shrimp and siratcha and cooked tuna, and a roll w/ grey-ish? tuna and jalepeno and avocado. The waitresses basically told us that we were wrong that that was what we ordered, tried to convince us that one of them was the crunch roll? Then brought us a crunch roll and clearly just put one of the original rolls back on the new plate and tried to tell me they had made a new roll (this all took 5 seconds, highly unlikely prep time for an elaborate sushi roll). Then we read the menu and compare and she tries to tell me that jalepeno is the spicy part. (OKAY LET ME TELL EVERYBODY THAT I'VE HAD THIS ROLL3 times before)! The avocado was YELLOW! The tuna was COOKED! IT WAS JUST WRONG, there was even CRAB inside not SHRIMP and the owner YELLED AT ME telling me that I WAS WRONG!!!! I DIDNT GET A SINGLE APOLOGY!!!!!!!!!!!!! They also kept pulling the correct crunch roll out from underneath us as we were trying to eat it! YURI HANA STAFF I REALLY HOPE YOU READ THIS AND STEP YOUR GAME UP! YOU JUST LOST CUSTOMERS WHO FREQUENT YOUR RESTAURANT ONCE A WEEK! OR MORE! LEARN HOW TO RUN A RESTAURANT!

Quick update: the authentic Chinese menu is now in both English and Chinese, and still organized by region. Everything I've had has been excellent. Today, I tried the "salted duck" for the first time, and it was truly amazing! Really authentic taste, served chilled as expected. I've had the boiled dumplings a few times already, and each time they've been really good. Each time, the filling has been a slightly different variety (different veggie, etc) and always well-seasoned. Highly recommended!

The food is great and authentic, best chinese and Japanese food I've had in the Boulder area. The design of the restaurant and the environment is also very nice. I'm a real Chinese girl so I know what I'm talking about. They have Sushi, dumplings, and many other entrees. Service is also good, so try it out!

Over priced. Honestly it wasn't worth the money when I can drive 10 minutes to Longmont or Boulder and pay 25% less for the same or even better food. I gave it 2 tries, but it wasn't any better. Won't be back for a third.

I used to really enjoy this place when it was Akiyama but they have let me down. After going out of my way to go pick up their menu since they are too slow to put it online, we ordered delivery that night and were excited to enjoy some of our favorite sushi. Over an hour and forty minutes later the food finally arrived, cold and missing the appetizer that we were charged for. Not only that but the sushi was crap, the crunchy roll was not the same and much worse. They didn't even include chop-sticks or soysause with the order. Maybe it would be better to eat there instead of ordering but they really need to get their act together. If you are looking to order don't waist your time and money.

I come here over and awhile for lunch. The service is excellent! They are extremely fast, friendly and attentive. I always get the lunch Bento box and its a rather large meal for under $10. I always have plenty of food left over. You get soup, salad, two small sushi pieces, appetizers and then a large entre with the Bento box. Definitely worth your money.

  • Vail I.

The people are friendly and the place is fairly clean. The prices are good and the bento box is filling. It's a good solution for lunch in Gunbarrel. The service is concerning and undertrained. I asked one server the difference between two dishes and he couldn't produce an answer. There's a strange aura here, and the servers do not seem happy. The canned 90s easy listening is not fun music. They need a music overhaul.

Quick, easy, consistent. Love the Pad Thai and sushi is great without being overly pricey. Awesome to eat in or have delivered?

Generous with juicy perfectly cooked shrimp in shrimp pad Thai. Missing spring onions, bean sprouts, lime wedge and heat. Also had crispy duck, good flavor not crispy however not their fault. that's what I get for ordering takeout. Crispy turns soggy if not eaten fresh. So eat crispy duck at restaurant.

I've eaten at a lot of sushi restaurants across the country and multiple times in Japan. As one would expect, some have been "SHABAAM! YAHOO!" and some have been "Can we swing by the ER for a quick stomach pump on the way home?" I was pleasantly surprised with Yurihana last weekend. The service was extremely friendly, the rolls were generous is size, and the fish was very fresh. The price is very reasonable and much less than Denver and Boulder sushi restaurants. Yurihana is a hidden gem worth considering for your next night out.

The best restaurant in Gunbarrel, and some of the best Asian cuisine in Boulder. The shrimp pad Thai and shrimp Lao mein are great. Shrimp are large and fresh. Sauces have great flavor. Prices are reasonable for the area, too.

Some of my friends took me here. I had this seared ahi dish and have been craving it ever since! I'm hoping to go tonight. Great service I felt bad because we were there late. So I over tipped lol and over drank 2 large purple haze sakis. I can't wait to have the tuna tatiki again!

Delicious food and friendly service! I ordered food to go - thai fried rice, thai seafood soup, miso soup, chicken panang curry, Mongolian beef, tempura shrimp and veggies, and kimchi. If you're wondering why I had a mixture of Thai, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese food it's because this place has variety! They also serve sushi but I didn't order any at the time. The Thai fried rice has a very unique flavor - has pineapple, pecans, and is seasoned with yellow curry sauce (soooo yummy). My husband and I are Thai food enthusiasts and the Thai food at this place is really tasty! I saw that they also have happy hour specials from 3-7. Those are up on a chalkboard in the restaurant.

The food is always good but the service is always very slow, they frequently get orders wrong, or simply forget things. After waiting for 10 minutes at lunch the other day I walked out. If you go, go early or late...don't get there during the lunch or dinner rush.

I just found this wonderful restaurant a few months ago. It is tucked in the southeast corner of the Gunbarrel King Soopers shopping center. Since then we have eaten there at least once a week and brought several friends. everyone raved about their food. Every single meal has been amazing. Their wonton soup is so hearty it is a meal in itself- the best I have ever had. The sushi is SO fresh and the appetizers like egg rolls are light and crisp and not greasy. The variety is great Japanese, Chinese, Thai and they are all equally delicious. I just wish I had found this place sooner!!

I have been desperately trying to find a consistent sushi place here and I heard good things about this place. The service was very friendly, the sushi wasn't bad but it wasn't good, just no flavor really. I get the sense the Chinese and Vietnamese food they have is the way to go here since my roommate loves their Chinese.

Awesome food and great people. Even though this place was in a strip mall in the middle of nowhere Colorado the owners said hello and good bye to every customer in mandarin. It was really cool to see the staff take such care and effort into what they were doing. It makes for a upbeat atmosphere. Oh did I mention the food was great as well!

This is take-out, so can't speak to service. Dishes ordered: California roll Fried pork dumplings Scallion pancakes Thai green curry shrimp. 15 minutes promised, was ready on the dot. California roll: Yes, a California roll is insipid by definition, and I'm ashamed to admit I ordered one. It was OK, though skinny and insubstantial, and would have benefited from a boost of wasabe and soy sauce. However, no soy sauce to be found in bag. I was sad. Pickled ginger was real pickled ginger, though, which cheered me up a little. Would I order it again, knowing it'd be just like this order: no. Dumplings: Perfect. Seared to just the right level, wonderful filling. Really good dipping sauce. Would I order it again, knowing it'd be just like this order: yes, all day long. Pancakes: Great texture, but short on scallions. The satisfying bite and heft of the pancake balanced out (just barely) the paucity of scallions. Would I order it again, knowing it'd be just like this order: yes. It'd be better with more scallions, but was still delicious. Curry: Fabulous! Unctuous, even decadent--rich, a little heat that built at the back of the throat without overwhelming. Plenty of shrimp, vegetables sauteed just right. Super good! Would I order it again, knowing it'd be just like this order: yes, all day long. Overall: a very good experience and I will certainly return, though I've gotta say the California roll was SO LAME that I will be wary of ordering sushi again. And I'll admit I'm SO LAME for ordering a California roll in the first place. Was just in the mood for some reason.

My experience was not pleasant. I ordered simple stuff like agadashi tofu and avocado roll, and 2 spicy tuna rolls. The fried tofu was not in traditional broth, had no lovely bonito flakes, and was served with a vat of thick sugary Kikkoman teriyaki goo that didn't even make sense. Fusion does not explain bad food poorly prepared. The sushi was only ok, they had good rice but the tuna was not very spicy at all and they had added that "crunch" filler that is popular now. I do not like the "crunch"-- I ordered simple spicy tuna because that's what I wanted. When I talked to the waitress/hostess she immediately argued with me and told me that's how they make it and refused to change it. I was very surprised they did not offer to make me what I wanted. Since this is sushi, after all. They have a sushi bar. I pointed out that the crunch was not listed as an ingredient on the menu for the spicy tuna. I would have ordered something else. She quickly brought me the full bill. I said no. I didn't get what I ordered so not paying that. Took three tries while she talked to the invisible "manager" which of course was her. Bill finally came minus the sushi order I did not eat. As I was leaving she lied to my face ( it became obvious this hostess was the manager because no one else was ever allowed to talk to me, and no one else available- too busy in the back ) when I asked to speak to manager to let "her" know they could have made my experience a good one by simply fixing the order. She just shrugged. Other reviews have noted their consistently poor customer service. I didn't want to leave hungry and mad. But I did.

I live in Gunbarrel so it's this or pizza for delivery here. Nothing like a bag of goodness on a snowy night! Quickest delivery and very fresh. I've ordered many many times. Beef, pork dishes and soups are very yummy.

I eat at this place once a week because I live nearby and it's easy. The menu is huge, thankfully. I usually have spring rolls, which are tasty and fresh. Then I have the sushi. Its simple and good, never had a dinner I didn't like. Recently I've been trying the other dishes and I've been especially happy with the curry dinners. Perfectly spiced and really satisfying. Try it, you will be glad you did.

I've eaten here before and the good was okay but last night I was the only one seated in the restaurant and after twenty minutes I wasn't even offered a drink of water. They just left me sitting there while the waitress chatted with her colleagues. I politely wished them a nice evening and walked out. No apologies were given.

My husband and I like to either order take out or eat in at Yurihana. Surprisingly we have greatly enjoyed many of their dishes from sushi to Thai green curry. One typically does not trust an Asian restaurant that covers Japanese, Chinese and Thai but actually those dishes are not that difficult to reproduce, I can do them quite well at home, except for the sushi. Last night I had the chicken udon noodle soup. The noodles were great, fat and chewy, which I prefer and the chicken tasty. I would have liked more vegetables but that's a personal taste. Definitely recommend this place and in my experience, the servers have always been courteous and helpful.

My favorite place to eat in the Gunbarrel area of Boulder. Excellent lunch place.

Four reasons for the 2stars: - This place doesn't understand what "vegetarian" means. Oddly, the waitress thought soy beans weren't vegetarian and menu items like kung pao tofu and basil stir-fry were marked as having meat or fish in them. - Of the three vegetarian options I was given, I chose vegetable medley. It tasted exactly like something from Panda Express. - Waitstaff was totally unwilling to do any substitutions (even when my requests cost less than the item I was substituting it for). - Prices aren't great (lunch special was $9-$16) Crossing this place off my list of go-tos...

Consistently good food. I love the veggie stir fried rice noodles. I ask for veggie only (no tofu) and they always get my order right! ;)

Pretty good sushi and lunch special prices. Have noticed some disturbing behaviors of staff... once a kitchen member was blatantly picking her nose and wiped in on her apron before returning back inside from break. Another time a sushi chef was clipping her fingernails behind the sushi bar!!! I heard the clicking and saw her rise from the floor and put nail clippers in a drawer. Shouldn't the be done in a bathroom!?!?! NOT very appetizing and a definite health code concern I'm sure. Also, found a hair in my sushi- which can happen, but it doesn't surprise me one bit.

I have been to this place three times in the past month since i discovered it. I have not yet been for lunch but during the week I went twice for dinner and it was never crowded at all. Sushi bar looks great but so far I have just had the mongolian beef and another beef dish that were very delicious and a great portion. It has a very big menu with lots of options. The Thai iced tea is so good, but a little pricey and i always want more then one. They deliver also but have not gotten delivery only take out on my last visit.

Yurihana is great. Their sushi is good, as are the dumplings, and all the Chinese dishes we've tried are amazign! The service is good as well, though sometimes, it can be a bit scatter brained. Be patient, it's worth sorting out. We try to go for happy hour, and they have a great menu selection and cheap sake! Also, it never gets to loud and the atmosphere is very welcoming!

I personally love this place. I think that the sushi is great and the same if not better quality than other sushi places in Boulder. The owner Qi and the manager Carol are super sweet and will do anything to make your visit better. I now eat here several times a month and always enjoy it. I highly recommend. If you go, do not get the pad thai- it is the only thing that I have had there that is not good.

One of the best, and by far most affordable, sushi places in Boulder. Perfect for those of us who live in Gunbarrel and don't want to deal with the drive to or parking on Pearl!

I am rather indifferent to this place. Yes, the food was pretty good, and I had an enjoyable evening dining here, but I don't think it was anything to get overly excited about. I ordered the hunan tofu because it said it was spicy but I am pretty sure the biggest spice wuss could handle it with grace. I also tried the sesame tofu and it seemed a little bit too soft on the inside, but maybe it is supposed to be that way. Really good hot sake though, and the service was fantastic.

  • Priscilla K.

Yurihana is wonderful! The staff is very eager to please, the atmosphere is fun and energetic, and as you can see by my rating I think the food is pretty darn tasty. The first time I went I played it safe with the crunchy cali roll and some spicy tuna. The waiter gave my boyfriend and I some miso soup on the house, which is excellent. On the next trip we decided to go with one of their specialty rolls, the dragon roll. It was so cute I almost couldn't bare to eat it, but I did and it was de-lish (I've uploaded a picture of it). We have since been back about 4 or 5 times and have yet to get something we didn't like. Just today I got a bento box for lunch, it comes with soup, veggie tempura, a couple of sushi, a salad, and a chinese entree. It's a lot of food for about 8 dollars. If I worked anywhere near Gunbarrel I would be coming here for lunch all the time. If you want a tasty little something for dessert I would get the strawberry mochi, it's an icecream ball (wrapped in rice paste I think?) served with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. The texture took a little getting used to but it is super yummy!

I literally stumbled into this place out of sheer panic that my boyfriend was going to starve to death before we could make it to a familiar restaurant. And when I say I love sushi, I need you to understand: I LOVE sushi. I am the Antono Ego of sashimi. I have sent sushi back to the chef with a note to try harder. I am dubious of any white person who claims to make 'authentic' sushi. So with this foundation laid out for you, you can understand the depth of my joy as I wept over their Hip-pop roll. I thought I would faint when I put that first succulent mouthful of Unagi on my tongue. And I pretty much had convulsions during the gorge-fest that was the Firecracker. Not that this place confines itself to sushi, however; as a Pan-Asian fusion restaurant I also dipped into the Garlic Pork and pretty much moaned out loud. Where do I even begin? Well, ok, I started with the sushi, which I hope you can pick up by my subtle subtle hints is AMAZING, easily the best I've ever had ANYWHERE in the WHOLE FREAKING WORLD (excepting Japan, of course, I haven't been there yet). The staff is amazingly friendly, the sushi chefs in particular are fun-loving and full of smiles. The food, when it arrives in a flash, is like art. An edible concerto. A consumable symphony. The prices are more than reasonable for such high-quality food, I'm always surprised when I get the bill and I've found I've stuffed myself with haute cuisine for the same amount I'd pay for mediocre food at a better-known place. The seating is immediate, the waiters are professional, and bonus: when you order hot tea, it arrives at PERFECT drinking temperature, you don't scald your tongue and you don't have to drink room-temperature tea. I adore the atmosphere, and I hope to god the fact that it's tucked away in the corner of Gunbarrel Square dooms it to obscurity. I want this place to be around for years to come, because I'm sure I'll polish up my Japanese if I'm here every week!!

Good sushi for Gunbarrell but I still think Boulder has better to offer. Staff was very accommodating and polite. Food portions were generous and they offered is free soup and dessert. I just felt like the taste of the food could have been a little fresher.... seemed a little dry even for inland sushi. Good place and I'll try their non-sushi items next time to change it up.
