    - Really cute, authentic feeling - Small place, nothing fancy, about 6 parking space - Tastes like comfort food to me, but with an interesting twist - They were out of chai when we ordered, but then passed out free (super yummy) chai later when the new ba

I had high hopes for this place based on other reviews. The $6.95 dinner was true, but the lots of food piled up was just a lot of rice. We wanted one beef and one chicken curry. They didn't have any beef curry so we ended up with both getting chicken. The chicken pieces were very dry, just a few of them, but at least the curry sauce was pretty good. The complementary cup of hot Chai was nice but not the best I have had. Nice place when you are low on the dough.

I went to hike Blue Lake in Boulder earlier this week and my good friend was in the mood to try some good ol' Tibetan food. I was in the mood for a new cuisine so I thought why not!? The diner itself is kind of a "hole-in-the-wall" spot next to a Subway. It is not a restaurant, by no means. I've had good experiences with "hole-in-the-wall" food joints, so it's appearance did not stray me away from trying the food. The employees (all Tibetan folks) were so kind and patient. I was very happy with their menu selection. So much to choose from! I ordered the "Vegetarian Momo" which is basically a traditional Tibetan dumpling dish. It was stuffed with an array of veggies and came with mouth-watering spicy sauce. The man who took our order offered my friend and I a cup of chai (tea) (which apparently comes on the house with every meal) while we waited for our meal to be ready. The chai was much too sweet for my taste. But as a South Asian myself, I know how sweet them brown folks like their food/drinks. The dumplings were delicious and very satisfying (8 dumplings/per order for about $8). I asked for some extra hot sauce because it was so. damn. good. I would definitely go back to Tibet Kitchen when I am back in Boulder. The only reason I would give this place a 4/5 stars is because of the lack of upkeep of the restaurant. If they would spend a bitttt more time cleaning up the place, I am sure it would attract many many more people. For the food and the service, I would give 5 stars, no doubt. The employees are very friendly and the kitchen looked clean and maintained. Enjoy your time!

The momos were delicious!!! I ordered the chicken momo. For ~$7 you get 8 huge momos which are just round dumplings and it's so filling. The dough is a bit thick though but the spicy sauce it comes with is on point. If you like spicy food, you will prob die for the sauce. 5 stars for the food itself. The chai is too sweet though but I appreciate that it's free. The reason I am taking off 2 stars is because the restaurant is pretty ghetto. You order in the front and there are some bar seating in the front but most of the tables are in the back. The tables weren't very clean. The bathroom was so weird and I pretty much only washed my hand and left. What was the worst was that there were so many flies zooming around while I was trying to enjoy my meal. The owners are nice though as they came back to check on us and even gave us extra spicy sauce. If the place got renovated, it would well deserve at least 4 stars. Maybe next time I'll just get to go.

Generous portions of authentic, delicious Tibetan food. Their lunch and dinner specials are a great way to go, but their dumplings steal the show (one order is enough for a large meal). Our other favorite is the fried noodle entree.

It's a pretty easy place to pass up since it doesn't look the most appealing from the outside, however, after I had the food there, I think about going in every single time I drive by it. Great prices for some authentic, delicious Nepalese food. They have an awesome selection of vegetarian dishes and I'm making it a goal to try each and every one of them. This time around, my girlfriend and I had the vegetarian Momos that came with two different dipping sauces. One was a spicy, orange sauce and the other a hoisin. For an entree, we had the Tsel Shogok, which in my opinion was perfect, but my girlfriend claimed she would have enjoyed it more if it were a little more spicy. We also had the vegetarian noodles, which were a bit overcooked, but the flavor was still spot on. Can't comment too much on the setting, since we got take out, but we received free chai while we waited for our order! Love this place and will definitely be back.

YES! Dirt cheap tibetan food. I was blown away by theyre special for $7 they stack your plate with rice, beans, potatoes, buns, meat, and vegetables and its just all great. Unfortunately I'm writing this review a few days after so the names are eluding me right now. However the ground beef dish is awesome, so are the potatoes. They also have some really good spicy chai tea they serve if youre eating in. The best part is when you eat in you get real table wear. no paper or plastic.

We waited forty minutes for our food to arrive. It lacked any sort of flavor so we dumped a lot of siracha into it

This place has good, freshly-made Tibetan comfort food. The kind that I suspect a Tibetan grandma would make. Yum! It isn't spicy, the flavors aren't pow. Rather, the food is freshly made, lovely, with subtle, delicate flavors (for the most part). It isn't, however, bland. Sweetie and I would happily scarf down anything and everything listed on the menu, many times over. The momos are delicious. I tend to eat mostly vegetarian food (at home), but would highly recommend both the chicken and beef momos over the vegetable version. (Or, better yet, order an assortment and decide for yourself.) Do be aware that if you order momos, they will take at least 15 minutes, because they are made fresh to order, just for you :-) The lunch and dinner specials ($4.95 and $6.95, respectively) are wonderful, and ridiculously low-priced for what you get. Stop on in and try a meal! A very nice added touch- while a customer is waiting for his food, TK gives him a complimentary mug of yummy chai. So good!

I eat here almost everyday and never get tired of it! It's quick and easy during lunch hours. I have tried almost everything and there's nothing I don't like. I love the spicy beef and chicken curry lunch special. They stack as much food as will fit on the plate! And did I mention it's only $6.45!

The food is delicious but the price is the real selling point. A two entree lunch special is $5.95 and comes with a hot (homemade?) chai tea if you eat there. The guy behind the counter piles on scoop after scoop of whatever entree you choose until your entire plate or to-go box is heaping with food. The fried noodles are my favorite side--I found the fried rice a little bland. Having said that, the sauces from the entrees spill over into the rice and make it much more palatable. The momo's are delicious and very filling. A single order of momo's was enough for a dinner for me. The veggie momo is probably the weakest entry in the momo varieties as they don't have as much seasoning or spices as the meat momo's. Be warned, they take about 15 minutes to make, so ordering ahead is a good idea if you momo to go-go (sorry). I will say some of the dishes are a bit hit and miss, with the flavors on some being a bit too subtle, bordering on bland. I've found a few I like (chickpeas, potatoes), and I've stuck to them. If the entrees were a bit spicier or more adventurous with the flavors this place would be a no-brainer 5 stars. As for the parking-- it can definitely be an issue. I've been lucky for the most part, but it can definitely turn into a problem if you're planning on eating there and not just picking up food. Regardless, this is one of my favorite lunch places.

I'm spending a week here in Boulder for a first responder class, it's been three days so far and I've been here twice...it's that good! And super cheap! It's a dirty little hole in the wall next to subway. On the front you'll find brightly colored windows listing their specials pricing. As well as, "Voted #1" with no credible sources to back it up. It's charming, I love it! You walk in and it's as minuet as it appears and smells oh so very delicious!! The mountainous amounts of food that come on your plate are more than worth the price. The people are friendly, always smiling and ready to help. Also, very keen on always offering their chai tea (must be good?). Any way, the end if the story is that if you are into Nepali foods you need to hit this place up!

Delicious Mo mos, spring rolls, tea were our take out dinner last night. Fresh and super yummy! An order of mo mos made a satisfying dinner. Excellent customer service, delightful information about Tibet as well as pictures displayed. Saw they offer great lunch and dinner specials as well as vegetarian options. Homemade taste bud tantalizing food that we're already looking forward to more of!

Awesome food with friendly service. Dining room is small , however I never had any problem about finding spot and it kind of makes it cosy. Lunch specials and fast service makes this place my favorite restaurant since I have limited time and budget. Because of all these reasons this is my favorite restaurant in boulder. At least it worth trying.

I don't feel much pros or cons of this place, I went here only once and was because of curiosity. I was surprised that Boulder has so many tibetan places but does have a decent Chinese restaurant (zoe mama is great but it's very small and only serve noodles and rice), later my American roommate told me that it's because of the nearby Arapahoe University, if I remember the name correctly which I doubt. I ordered the momo combo which comes as 3 beef momo, 3 chicken momo and 2 veggie momo, they are just like the kind of momo (attention guys, momo are never called momo in Chinese, its name should be Baozi) I used to have for breakfast in China, so it's not a bad experience.

Small homey Tibetan restaurant near the UC campus. My son and I shared a momo (dumpling) dish. We each had a dish over brown rice. The owner offered us warm chai tea, on the house. Decorated in the colors of Tibetan clothing - colorful. On the wall where we were sitting, there were pictures of different aspects of the culture dance, cheese making, etc. Very nice people who serve very good and healthy food!

I don't expect this to be as good as it was. The Mo-mo's were wonderful. A great value meal. Two of us had the dinner special ($6.95) and one of us had a pulled pasta soup. Service was awesome and bottomless complimentary chai made it even better. I will be back.

One of my favorite places in town! The lunch special is such a good deal, 6.95 for 3 entrée plate and 1 side. The momos always make my stomach happy. Great service and even a complimentary chai if you're lucky

The server/cashier/cook-helper guy is extremely nice. The cook lady is very professional and almost motherly seeming. They cook it right in front of uou if you sit in the front area. The butter tea is amazing, and I don't even normally like tea. The vegie spring rolls are crisp and spicy with delicous orange sauce to dip. The chicken curry is very liquidy but tasty. Not as great as some of the curry I've had at Thai food places, but I saw the other review about it on here and decided o risk it anyway. I'll try something else next time I'm in boulder. The decorations are awesome and the back of the paper menu (they also have the menu items on the walls) has odd and interesting facts about Tibet.

Highlight of the meal - beef momos. Chicken was pretty good too and veggie was a bit boring. The beef dish featured atop the menu was seriously salty, so much so I contemplated sending it back.

One of my favorite weekday dinners in Boulder. So lucky to have this place around. I eat 200 momos every time I go. I prefer take out here! Very very affordable too :)

This is my new favorite spot in Boulder. Especially for take out. LOVE the veggie momos, spring rolls, lentil soup, and long noodle veggie soup. The best veggie broth in this town. My bf gets their chicken curry and chicken long noodle soup and loves both of them. The momos are a fairly large serving per order and are the most flavorful and complex vegetarian dumplings I've had. MY bf loves pork and chicken but also prefers their veggie momos the best. Their lunch and dinner specials are a great deal and I love that they give you delicious warm chai while you wait for your order!

  • David A.

Very good dumplings (momos) made to order. I got the sampler, which includes 8 momos. Based on the chef's recommendation I selected 4 beef, 2 chicken, and 2 vegetable. It came in about 15 min and I was served complimentary Chai tea while I waited, which was very delicious. To my surprise, I preferred the chicken momos, but all 3 types were tasty. There's a small dining room in the back with orange walls and 4 small tables. In the front there is a counter for perhaps up to 6-7 people. The place is very unique and has character. I would definitely come back.

This hidden gem really has some amazing food. The momo (dumplings) sampler is what I recommend for first timers. The dough is very soft, steamed, and full of delicious fillings. Almost everything on the menu is good, but the momos really do leave a lasting impression.

One of the best momo in Colorado! I often travel to this place from Denver just to enjoy their delicious momo.

The veggie spring rolls were swimming in a pool of oil. The Tsel Nezom had mushy vegetables and had literally no flaor, zip, zero, nada. Won't be returning.

This was our favorite place from which to order deliveries during the two years I lived in Boulder. Everything is delicious; the momos and the various noodle-based dishes in particular are reliable winners. Great place, and got me through many a late night!

Pleasing, unique food. I've only tried the beef fried noodles so far, but this combination of veggies, beef, and noodles in a spicy sauce was particularly enjoyable. It felt like familiar comfort food, but with a flavor I'd somehow remembered from another lifetime. My wife reports that they have good veggie selections as well, and splendid veggie momos. And decor-wise, Tiber Kitchen offers the most vivid orange walls to get your brainwaves subtly stimulated.

Delicious food. Husband ordered this "bean thread" dish that we didn't know at all, and it was super delicious. My noodle soup was exactly what I was looking for - filled with chewy hand pulled noodles and hot. And the momos (we got the combo) were super good, even the vegetarian ones. Food took a little long because they were busy but we appreciated everything.

Thank you, yelp, for helping me discover this place! I had never tried Tibetan food and me being the foodie that I am...decided to try this place based on the great reviews. Thenthuk & Momo's. Even though you probably can't pronounce these correctly on the first time, they are definitely worth trying. The Thenthuk is just "light" enough to eat and has fresh made pasta aka hand made cut up noodles along with a bunch of veggies and some meat. Definitely worth the 9.50 that you pay for these and you don't leave feeling overly full or gross...just wholly satisfied. The Momo's are delicious, and the sampler comes with 3 beef, 2 chicken, and 3 veggies for about 7.99. Worth trying, full of flavor and ingredients...and it has thick skin. If you're a fan of dumplings with thick skin, this is the way to go. Even though I'm only around a few days a week, I'll be sure to add this to my weekly rotation of meals. Friendly waitstaff and great chai tea!

I love this little restaurant. The staff are INCREDIBLY friendly, and the food is downright perfect (*if* you order the right stuff). I feel bad for them with all the horrendous construction on the surrounding streets -- it can be a real challenge to find this place if you're new to the area and having trouble with the construction, and sometimes access to the restaurant is badly restricted. Back to the food -- come here for the momos, especially the vegetable momos (Tsel Momos). The other food on the menu is well prepared and can be quite tasty, but it is nothing that you couldn't get at any of 500 other Asian style restaurants in the Boulder area. But the momos, oh boy... Those are worth the visit all by themselves. The chicken momos are probably the most bland of the bunch, but they are still quite enjoyable. If you do stop by Tibet Kitchen, make sure you give yourself enough time to enjoy it. The momos generally take about 15 minutes to prepare. Also make sure you order some of the complimentary chai tea, which pairs nicely with the momos and their slightly spicy dipping sauce. Tip generously, as well, because these people work incredibly hard, produce delicious and fresh food, and they always do it with the most helpful and friendly attitude you'll ever encounter. Highly recommended.

I was looking for some momos and ended up at this place. I grew up experiencing a lot of Tibetan culture in India. I have had authentic Tibetan food in India and this one is really authentic. I would totally suggest this place.

Wow! They make their momo's to order here. Keep in mind that it will take 15 minutes before it gets to you. I didn't mind the wait. I popped in here having no clue as to what to order. Their lunch buffet was a fantastic deal at about $5 a plate but i wanted to try what they were famous for which is the Momo's. College kids were popping in and out filling their belly's with the lunch buffet. Nobody came as a group this seemed to be the place where people came to dine alone. Grab a quick bite and your out. I had time to kill. 15minutes to wait for my momo's made from scratch. The owner gave me some complimentary chai. Super smooth and delicious. He chatted me up. We talked about Los Angeles where he had first lived and worked when he arrived in the USA. We talked about Boulder where he now lives and loves. I learned about Boulder's buddhist community from him and as a realtor in his spare time I learned about the housing market in Boulder too in case I decided to relocate. Super cool guy and totally Tibetan. My Momo's were worth the wait. Freshly made dumplings that were hot and steaming. I had the sampler and I would have to say that my favorite was the chicken. The dipping sauce is a bit spicy but really enhance the flavors of the momo's. I do agree with the other reviewer that the dumplings could have been bolder in flavor but the dipping sauce really helps. If I moved to Boulder I would be coming here often. If not for the Momo's then definitely their Chai and friendly conversation.

I'm not sure Tibet Kitchen needs any more good reviews, but here it is. It's a great lunch deal! For $6 you get 2 entrees and a side. I had the Tsel Shamu (sauteed mushrooms) and Shaptak (beef in peppers), with a side of noodles. Everything was hot and delicious, and I also shared a side of veggies momo's with my friend. No, I didn't eat it all, and yes, the food was still great in my hotel room hours later. They also gave us cups of chai to start! Good stuff.

Went here for dinner with a group of folks from a conference I was attending across the street. It was the first time with Tibetan food for almost all of us. The owner/cashier was not very helpful when I asked for some menu suggestions. It was almost as if he didn't care whether we ate there or not. Perhaps he is so busy that he truly does not. We shared a spicy curry potato bowl that was incredibly flavorful to start with, and I ordered a selection of dumplings ("momo") as an entree. A couple of the other folks also got the momo sampler. We all seemed to agree that the chicken dumpling was the best and the vegetarian one was the least flavorful. The beef one was in the middle. Overall, Tibet Kitchen was a great place to duck in out of the rain to warm up with some hardy mountain food. The lack of beer and wine was one negative, but the food was very reasonably priced and service was quick once we ordered. Would go back again, probably for lunch not dinner.

  • Carol N.

Not sure what everyone raved about. We order the dumplings sampler and it did not taste good. The vegetable dumplings was the worst and the beef dumplings was not good. My husband was like, 'Your dumplings taste a lot better than this.' And he isn't even a big fan of my cooking. We ordered other dishes too and they were just okay. Disappointed. Probably wont go back.

  • Rainey N.

Yum! My first time to a Nepalese restaurant. The dumplings are really delicious... I especially liked the veggie dumplings. I also ordered seasonal vegetable curry, and although I wouldn't call them seasonal, the vegetables were fresh and well-prepared. The curry sauce was very tomato-based, a little watery, almost like a soup. Interesting, and not spicy. Anyway, get the dumplings.

  • Joe Y.

I had high hopes trying Tibetan food for the first time. The service is friendly and lunch special has better value. We tried the momos sampler, it was just ok. The beef dumpling is probably the better one. LImited seating and the parking lot is difficult to get to. For the price, Curry N Kebob is better.

I would make it my personal goal to free Tibet if I could eat at this place every day. I had driven past this inconspicuous corner restaurant many, many times but only decided to stop in when I saw their and announcing lunch specials starting at $4.95 in the paper. What a deal! You can either choose one entree and a side for $4.95, 2 entrees and a side for $5.95 or 3 entrees and a side for $6.95. I almost gleefully leaped for joy like a little kid at Christmas when I beheld the variety of vegan/vegetarian options available to choose from and the huge selection of sides which included brown rice, but then I remembered I was in public and restrained myself because I am an adult. Don't worry all you carnivores, there are meat options for you too. They also give everyone a free little mug of homemade chai, which even I took a sip of even though I am generally dairy free and it was really tasty. The worker there was really friendly too- we told him it was our first time and he explained everything to us and we had a nice little conversation too.

This place kind of really disappointing me. I was looking forward to some Himalayan food. In fact, I dragged a whole bunch of friends there. The food is okay. Their fried rice is good, their noodles was plain bad. The chicken curry was above average. Their momos were awesome. The food is very similar to Indian Chinese food than the regular Tibetan cuisine.

  • Sepideh M.

The dumplings here are delicious, but our main courses were pretty bland. There are a total of 13 chairs, and 5 of those were bar stools, at this place so it is definitely better to carry-out if you have a large party.

My boyfriend and I were in the mood for some quick takeout and found this gem! We are new to Boulder, as well as recently eliminating meat from our diet. The menu is super vegetarian friendly and has a lot of options to choose from. We ordered the Tsel Mo-mo (Vegetarian Momo), Phing Alla (Vegetable Spring Rolls), Phing Toe (Tofu and Bean Thread), as well as the Dali Soup. All of our meals were absolutely delicious; the sauces were to die for! The customer service was great and our meal was out super quickly! In fact, writing about it right now is making me hungry! This place is great for authentic Tibetan food and we will definitely becoming back in the near future!

  • Renu D.

For all things momos, this is a place to be. Especially the vegetable momos , that are fresh flavorful and just about perfect. You would be better off though by calling in advance and ordering your takeout. They do have a small room at the back if you want to sit and eat and some high seats out front too. We have ordered a take out from here quite a few times and have never been disappointed. Very authentic and fresh !!

  • Linus W.

I'd probably give a 3 or 3.5 for food, but the people are friendly and have a really good sweet chai. The bread is sort of like a chinese mantou bread but twisted in shape. Their dishes seem very homestyle (Sesha and Shaptak), as if I could make some of them. The best dish was the beef momos, although I prefer porky chinese dumplings more. These could probably be best compared to a thick-skinned pot sticker. Seems like the best deal is to come during lunch.

Since moving to Denver, I have visited Boulder twice. And twice I have gone to Tibet Kitchen. I love it! Inexpensive, great food, friendly staff... After advice from the owner, I tried the beef momos (dumplings), which he said was one of their most popular dishes. They were excellent. The second time I went, I got some of their hot chai tea (which was on the house). I had to go back for seconds I liked it so much. I will never look at a Starbucks chai tea latte the same way again! Tip: If you do try the momos, call ahead so they can start to steam them and have them ready when you get there. They take 10-12 mins to steam.

Wonderfully delicious food. The Momos are all wonderful, the long noodle soup as well as the handroll pasta were delicious. Free chai tea is offered with your meal and the lunch specials are too good to pass up. Would recommend to anyone. :)

Oh Tibet Kitchen, how I love thee. Your food is delicious, your servers are friendly, your prices are reasonable! I love, love, love Tibet Kitchen. I've had quite a few items off their menu and have never once been disappointed. My favorite is Thupak- vegetarian flat noodle soup with spring rolls and momo's. So amazing. I am currently day dreaming about their spicy dipping sauce. Also, this place delivers! Can it get any better? Nope, authentic food, great people, good prices.

If you're looking for exceptional Tibetan food, this is it. We ordered Momos and Shaptak and were not disappointed. Rich, spicy, and flavorful. Come for the food, not the ambiance. It's order at the counter and seat yourself here. Basic, but super friendly. You won't find better cooking at four times the price.

When you are sick and desperate for delivery that is NOT pizza, not yucky Chinese, Tibet Kitchen is where it's at. I can get yummy things, particularly their noodle dishes in 30 minutes. I also like their dumplings and some of the more "i've never seen this before except here" dishes. It's really some of the best Asian food in the Boulder area.

  • Ran T.

Homemade Tibetan food. You order at the counter, pay, pour yourself some water from the dispenser, sit yourself down and the staff will bring you food. Take out is also available but they no longer deliver. They only accept cash or credit cards. Their food is not fancy but really flavorful. They use good fresh ingredients. The place is not big, 5-6 seats along the counter and 4 more small tables in the back. There are also some outdoor seating. I loved my beef momos. They remind me of the dumplings from the Northern part of China (thick skin and basic filling). Take a look at their menu, especially the back of the menu. It tells you a little bit about Tibet.

Even better than the first few times we dined here, Tibet Kitchen shines! Today I was planning to go to the big main Boulder Whole Foods on Pearl to shop a bit and get lunch. So I pulled into a space in their new improved parking lot, and got a phone call. While speaking to an old friend on the phone about our past "bad boy" relationships, I watched the people walking in and out of Whole Foods. I'm used to the crowd that frequents Whole Foods...I just realized I wasn't in the right frame of mind to mix and mingle with the facade-oriented high-falutin' Boulder Whole Foods crowd. So, to make a long story short, I finished my call and left the WF parking lot, heading randomly westward. Just thinking I wanted to eat something healthful and nourishing for lunch, then shop later. And then, poof, I remembered Tibet Kitchen. We'd been there a few times, months ago, when this Arapahoe location opened. I haven't been to their restaurant on the Hill ever. Lunch at Tibet Kitchen is exquisite. It's like eating art. Like if you could eat the most beautiful painting you've ever seen, it's what that level of beauty would taste like. Just totally exquisite. At lunch you can choose 2 or 3 entrees plus the noodles or rice, for a ridiculously low price. I ordered a dish that had bok choy and tofu in it, among other ingredients, and a perfect sauce. I also got the chicken curry (amazing) and the noodles, which were laced with lovely little snippets of vegetables. It was a yummy lunch. Chai was excellent as always. And the sweet people who work there, they check to see how you like your food (it's an order-at-the-counter place) and you can tell they really care! So sweet and kind.

You know, basically it's neat to try Tibetan food if you haven't had it, and I hadn't. I wish I could say more ... I learned about the cuisine culturally speaking but did not very much enjoy the dishes as presented here at this place. It's definitely a good deal money-wise, though -- no doubt about that. You got a lot of tummy-love for not much 'dough,' so to speak. I mean, not exactly love, but ... something like it. What it is, though, is a nice place to sit with a friend. It's quiet enough, it's calm and relaxed and nice-looking and friendly enough, it's kind of just enough of everything to be almost more -- almost, but not quite. If you're going for the purpose of learning something, it's adequate -- barely. If you're going for something you really want to enjoy (and who isn't?), I'd say it's not. If you're going with someone else who for some strange reason either really likes it or is immune to such things as taste, then it's the spot for you!

Tibet Kitchen is owned and run by Tibetans and offers delicious food at very reasonable prices. The beef shaptak is amazing. I always get it with rice and ting-mo and their chicken soup. The staff is friendly and they have a great outdoor place to eat. They give you free a cup of their delicious chai tea. I highly recommend trying Tibet Kitchen. Update: Their momos are AMAZING. They make them in house and I can't get enough of them. Also, their veggie dishes are delicious and they are Vegan friendly. Best Place in Boulder!

Yum! I spent some time in Tibet many years ago. It took a little getting used to Tibetan food at first, as it is not as flavorful as Indian or Nepalese food. However, once you open a place in your heart for Tibetan food, you will understand the filling goodness of momos and noodle soup, Gyathuk! This place is as authentic as it gets! The food reminded me of my experience in Tibet from the first sip of their complimentary Chai to the last bite of the Veggie Momo! Also, the service was friendly and quick! My husband and I shared a bowl of Lentil soup, a bowl of Gyathuk, and an order of Veggie Momos...we were stuffed for $21.00!

One of my favorite spots for take-out in Boulder. Huge portions are served at Tibet Kitchen. The staff is very friendly & they're open until 10pm. Momos & fried rice are best here, but avoid the chicken curry if you're not into bone-on chicken. The Dahl (lentil soup) here is one of my favorites as well. The sign's not lit at night, but this restaurant is worth finding. Don't come for an elegant sit-down dinner, but an amazing experience regardless.

Got there shortly after opening while food was fresh; first ones served. Reasonably priced: 3 entrees and a side for $7, or 2 or 1 for $1 or $2 less. Had about six main dishes already prepared to choose from plus items on the menu. Chickpeas were extremely fresh and flavorful - my favorite. Chicken curry was great, and tofu veg dish was par for the course. The lentil soup was not as flavorful as I had hoped; bland, and not much substance, mainly a thickened broth. Will try again!

Tried to come here once before and it had closed early. Came back for lunch and we glad we did. Great flavors and it is always fun to try a new kind of cuisine. Would definitely come back.

True hidden gem. I've been driving right by this place for 6 years, and finally stopped in for lunch today on accident - only because I couldn't get a parking spot at another nearby restaurant. AMAZING. Really yummy Indian-Tibetan lunch buffet, inexpensive, and a private outdoor courtyard seating area. The owner was very friendly and helpful with the menu. Quick service. Overall, I am super stoked about finding a new lunch spot in Boulder!

Great vegetarian dishes and quick service. And if you dine in, they give you delicious chai. THEY DON'T DELIVER ANYMORE! (just an FYI... I just tried to place an order and found out... which is a bummer because they are so yummy)

Solid - but not overwhelmed! Place was hurting from a lack of traffic and recent construction nearby. The food itself was a bit bland, and didn't pop of the plate like I was hoping.

I know a lot of the reviewers have great things to say about this place. Yes, the $4.95 deal is great in certain respects, but I have to consider the flavor as well as the quantity of food I got. The first time I went here, I got chicken momos which cost me about $9.00. When I got home to try them, they were very bland, and not worth the wait and price. Also the sauce that came with it was also not too flavorful, so I could honestly not enjoy this. I decided to give this place another shot, and tried their $4.95 lunch special. I decided to get chicken curry, tibetan steamed rice, and shaptak. I honestly have to say that the curry was salty and the chicken was dry, the shaptak was also too salty but the beef was moist. I probably won't go here again, and this place has made me into a less of a fan of Nepalese food. Hopefully I find a better restaurant in Boulder which could prove me wrong

This is a tiny restaurant. Very tiny. But what it lacks in space, it more than makes up in the authenticity and flavor of the food it serves. The momos were delicious. And when you try any of their entrees, skip the rice and have them with the traditional bread - ting-mo. Loved this place.... will be back for more!

I love Tibet Kitchen! Wonderful, authentic food, handmade noodles, lots of veggie options. Veggie momos are my favorite! It's run by genuinely sweet people. Free chai (homemade and delicious) if you dine in, and the cheapest lunch specials in town. Please check it out and support Tibet Kitchen!

What a treat! Don't let the outside fool you- it looks like a dumpy little strip mall shop but the food is terrific. If you don't know the cuisine, let them recommend what they think is best. Momos are the way to go, IMHO.

Tibet Kitchen offers standard tibetan eats served up by friendly staff at an affordable price. On a recent visit, we enjoyed the mixed momo platter and the fried spring rolls. The latter was a liberal interpretation of a spring roll as we know it--pushed flat and oblong and stuffed with carrots, cabbage and green onions and very light on the meat. The rolls were average at best, but served their purpose as a starter. The momos are a novel treat, but lack the savory roundness that should dominate the meat filling of any good dumpling. Surprisingly, the chicken momos outshined their beef and lamb counterparts in terms of taste and texture. Both the spring rolls and momos were served with a sweet spicy sauce, not unlike the thai spring roll sauce. I recommend Tibet Kitchen for a visit, especially if you've never had Tibetan food before...the staff and the outdoor cafe (especially on a beautiful day) make it worth the visit.

Alright, I'll admit it, I ate here just so that I could say that I have eaten the cuisine of Tibet. That said, it was quite tasty. I did not see the Sherpas, but the authenticity was undeniable. Start with their complementary Chai. Then be sure and sample the Spicy chicken with steamed bun. No culinary trip to Tibet would be complete without Momos. Don't have a clue what a Momo is? Fill this blank spot and order the Momo Sampler, chicken, vegetable, or beef (?yak). The people in Boulder are very ethnically diverse, and quite proud of it. Embrace cultural diversity.

Delicious and great deals, especially for lunch! Get rice or buns as the side because the entrees have such delicious sauces. Curry chicken and chickpeas are fantastic. Thai iced tea is great, too. Nice staff. Would be good for take out for a night in or to take to a cool spot.

Maybe it was a bit of an off night because it was Super Bowl, but I have to say that I was not overly impressed with my takeout order from Tibet Kitchen. The momos were very doughy and the filling was bland. The noodles in the Thenthuk were gummy and again the dish was bland. In reading the other reviews I'm wondering if perhaps we need to dine in instead of take out - maybe the food doesn't travel well? Nice people though- we'll definitely give it another shot.

Cozy, unpretentious atmosphere, friendly service, and excellent food. The shogok khatsa made for an excellent spicy appetizer that seemed reminiscent of what I would find at an Indian restaurant, while the jhasa shaptak, a spicy chili chicken dish served with rice, made for an excellent entree. The portions are generous. This was my first experience with Tibetan food, but I would definitely try it again, just based on this positive experience.

My first time trying to Tibetan food and it was a success. The food was tasty and the lunch special is extremely affordable. You can't beat the 1 entree and 1 side for $4.95 and they give you plenty of food to fill you up. Better yet, you can have up to 3 entrees and a side and it's still only $6.95! I went for the 3 entrees and between myself and a friend we tried pretty much all the vegetarian dishes. Everything tasted delicious and we were plenty full after. If you've never tried Tibetan and are curious, it reminded me of Chinese food but with slightly different spices. I highly recommend the "Tsel Shogok" Sliced Potatoes and Spinach, it was very tasty. The staff was nice and even friendly while I horribly butchered the names of the Tibetan dishes. The location is small but there is some seating in the front and a back room with more tables. Everything looked very clean. I can't wait to go back, and try some of the other dishes! Definitely check out the lunch special, I think most will be pleased.

Good value food. They need a bike rack next to the building. Sometimes they season their dishes a bit strong, so you end up smelling like the food there for a few hours after eating there. But, you don't come out smelling like Indian curry, which lasts for about a month, so that's good. Anyway, the lack of bike rack and occasional inconsistency with their spices, I took away a star, otherwise a 5-star joint.

I've been here pretty infrequently in the couple of years it's been open. I'd say four or five times. Most recently, yesterday. It's a beautiful place and that's hard to do, considering it's squashed between a Subway and what used to be a Dairy Queen. There are pictures of Tibet hanging high on the walls, books stacked on the counters, tapestries by the doorway, and it smells incredible in there, like garlic and unnameable spices, as you sit at the counter salivating, waiting for your food. Well, the food doesn't taste as good as the place smells (that would be impossible), but it's certainly tasty enough, and quite unlike any other cuisine in the area. The momos and flat spring rolls are served with a spicy orange chunky sauce that packs a hidden punch and gets better the more of it you eat. The noodle dishes are SPICY. Usually. It's a little bit unpredictable how spicy they'll be, but I'd err on the side of being prepared. Pepper seeds may be hidden throughout, tucked into the nooks and crannies of the fresh vegetables that abound in stir-fry type dishes. I'm not sure if they still do a lunch special, but the only time I've been here and it was awful was for the lunch special. Everything was out in sad little heaters, wilting, and it tasted like watered-down Chinese food. COLD watered-down Chinese food. So make sure what you order is being made fresh. Don't worry; most things are.

My boyfriend and I always saw it when we pass by but never went there. I'm glad we did. We got momo and this hand pull pasta soup. We are all about flavors and the momo has it. They served it with a chili sauce. Sauce or no sauce it's good. The staff was very friendly and while he's talking you will be sipping on their homemade chai. It was delicious. I would recommend anyone to go there.

Weird...I could've sworn I've been to this restaurant before...oh that's right, I have! It's called Panda Express. I had the lunch special - two items and a side dish. Everything was super bland and all tasted the same...MSG anyone? I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because they did have some more authentic looking items on the menu, that were probably a better choice than the lunch special. However, I will not be going back to try them.

generally i find tibetan food to be kind of bland and basic compared to other neighboring cuisines. so i was not expecting anything mind blowing. i have been craving some momos and this place took care of it. there are tons of indian places if you want curry. but i'd definitely come here if i crave beef momos again.

We really, really, really wanted to like this place. They were one of our picks for the two days we were in Boulder, and the thought of Tibetan food was incredibly intriguing. The service was very friendly and prompt. The space was small and no-frills which I'm fine with. The food was OK, but oddly lacking enough seasoning. I tend to shy away from salt and it was not salty enough even for me.

Chicken momos are really good. Just warn your companions of the next hour because when you burp after you eat these, you will definitely be reminded again of their deliciousness. Ask my friends riding back in the car with me. I thought I got away with burping (I couldn't blow it out the window because there were none in the backseat of this car), but when they both had to roll down their windows to get the stinkiness out, I had been caught with dumpling breath! Everybody enjoyed their meals and it came at a very affordable price. They also have a great lunch special!

Talk about hard to find. Tucked next to Subway at Folsom and Arapahoe lies the Tibet Kitchen. The food is inexpensive and tasty. I tried the momos based on hearing "must haves". The eight dumplings come in three varieties with accompanying sauce. I also had their lentil soup which was the best lentil soup I have had. Great taste and texture. So, the verdict is positive for this small shop. Friendly staff and fast service seem to be hallmarks. I'd like to visit again to try their other native dishes.

Oh man, this place was an unexpected treat. I'd been talking about eating here since I'd moved to Boulder, and finally stopped in for lunch after deciding Tokyo Joe's was inedible. The staff here is very friendly, and I think their service was a lot more genuine than I've experienced at a restaurant in a while. The restaurant itself was a little warm and small, but the food was so good. The flat spring rolls are really unique. The tofu/bean dish we had was kind of bland, but good and filling. I definitely recommend the momo sampler! Good stuff!!

The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. We'll definitely be going back. I'd heartily recommend the dumpling sampler if you're a first-timer - it's a good way to get an idea of what you like there. Parking is a bit dicey - your best bet is to park in the lot behind Siamese Plate (just north of Tibet Kitchen on Folsom St.) and walk around the front.

Mediocre food. Sauce on beef dish tasted like plain brown gravy. Chicken was nice, but nothing special. High point was free chai and dumplings were pretty good. Chicken ones were the best of the sampler plate.

I love this place. It's on my way home has such a cool atmosphere. Check out the crazy back yard if you go there. There is some sort of pyramid made out of irons. The food is pretty good but also doesn't completely blow me away. For how cheap it is, and the atmosphere, it's totally worth it and leaves you fairly full. Also, I agree about the lunch special. Unless its fresh, i say avoid and pay a little more for the freshly cooked food.

Tibet Kitchen is one of those spots that's very Boulder without being very "Boulder". Does that make sense? It has that hippie/bohemian/free sprit/Flying Mystics/Zen Buddhist/bodhisattva/shah bra/peace on Earth air to it and it's totally cool, man, because this spot is genuinely that way. It's not some brand new, eco-modern storefront selling an image of foreign charm. This joint serves bonafide Tibetan cuisine in a casual and very friendly atmosphere with bizarre art on the walls and vases and figurines on every windowsill. It's a small spot, unfortunately, wedged next to a Subway. The parking situation in the front is also small and usually crowded so make sure not to drive up in your Hummer H2. Do people even still drive those things? On second thought, if you drive a Hummer H2, just got ahead and park it off a cliff. The interior of the restaurant is very small with an order counter and some counters and stools in the front for dining in. There's another small room in the back with 4 tables and it looked like there was a pretty rad patio outside. You order your food at the front counter where there are plenty of menus to peruse. The guy we ordered from was really nice and very helpful. He even offered us some hot chai. While we were there during lunch happy fun special time, we ordered off of the dinner menu because the lunch options are served cafeteria/buffet style which is never a good choice anywhere...not even Vegas...especially not Vegas! The menu has a lot of options for vegetarians. Even vegetarian momos! I ordered those and tsel shogok (spinach & potatoes). The momos were incredible! Steaming hot and served with a side of spicy, ass-kicking pepper sauce. The dude ordered beef phing sha (meat cooked with black mushrooms, scallions and bean thread noodles), but he was served chicken instead of beef--he didn't care because it was delicious! My entrée was awesome as well. All of the food was rich, flavorful and very fresh. The cups and plates were all basic and made out of metal. That kleptomaniac, 75-year-old grandmother that lives deep inside of me wanted to steal the cups, but don't worry, I beat her into submission. If you can't make it to Lhasa and you want some authentic Tibetan food, then make your way to Tibet Kitchen. Actually, I think the Dalai Lama even tweeted about this place... Oh yeah, I also found out from a calendar on the wall there that it's the year of the METAL TIGER! RIP DIO!

I was so happy when my companion agreed to my suggestion and wanted to give Tibetan food a try. I love adventurous souls! We were hungry! I ordered the 2 entree plate with Tsel Shogok--Sliced Potatoes and Spinach and Beef with Peppers (hot, not just green) and Fried Rice. She also ordered the 2 entree plate but with sel Shamu--Sauteed fresh white mushroom sautéed with onion, tomato, ginger, garlic, broccoli, zucchini and red pepper and Jhasa Shamdeh--Chicken curry marinated in home-made yogurt and potato. We split an order of Vegetarian Momo (dumplings). We sat outside beside the alter of irons, (literally, it's a alter made of iron-your-clothes irons. And then there are the rock climbing Barbies. Funky. Me likey. And in the end there was nothing left to give to the dog, not even a lick of a taste. Oh, yeah, Parking suks. Follow E.Z.H.'s advice on parking north of the building and walking back.

As a tourist in Boulder, it's great to find an eatery that makes you feel welcome! It's a small little eatery that's worth trying if you're looking for something different. The food is great! Especially the veggie mo-mo (steamed dumplings). I also had the spicy chicken and yes, you'll be sniffling. So be warned. Every fiery bite was yummy. BF had the chicken curry and it was ok. The guy there was very nice and helpful. We even got extra rice to go for free! It's a gem! Free Tibet!

For those who are saying that the food is bland, it's supposed to be that way so get used to it! Sorry it just bothers me that some people don't know how the food originally is and just go straight to criticism. Now if they were to complain that it's super salty or sweet then I would be alarm. So for those who are considering trying, don't be afraid about the food being bland. Anyway, this place could solely survive on beef momos! They're really delicious! I never had momos with hoisin sauce before, but surprisingly it was very complimenting. The rest of the food is good too just that some spices are chilly even though the dish doesn't say it is, but that's just me not being able to eat spicy food. It's also a plus that the owners are Tibetans and not Nepalese claiming to make Tibetan food like the majority of them do. Not that I have anything against the Nepalese as I enjoy their food too.

Stopped by for lunch today and thought Tibet Kitchen was a really place with a laid back attitude. All the guys were hanging around talking about Tibet and their travels through Asia. I'd never tried butter and salt tea or a steamed Tibetan bread roll so the food was really interesting and new. That said, we both agreed that the food was bland. We'll give it a second chance just based on the good vibe.

This was my first visit to Tibet Kitchen and certainly will not be the last. The staff is friendly and so accommodating! First, you must order at the counter and seat yourself but it's definitely worth it. They also have some outdoor seating as the cafe itself is very small. I ordered the Momos (dumplings) and they were amazing! Perfectly prepared and they were delicious! I found my new favorite place to eat in Boulder! Highly recommended!

I'm submersed in Tibetan culture at all times and having a place to go that has authentic Tibetan cuisine is a huge plus for me. The place is tiny and if you blink as you're driving by, you'll probably miss it...if you do, you'll regret it. Some of the best food in Boulder. Love this place...I'll back, again and again. They have some great gluten free options and the staff is always accommodating. Tashi Delek!

The husband and I decided to try a new place today, and we chose Tibet Kitchen. We made a good choice! :) The food is made fresh when you order (a huge plus in my book!) and they have a wide variety of vegetarian and non-veg entrees. We both got entrees with "bean string noodles" (cellophane noodles) and a protein (he got tofu, I got chicken) and both were incredibly good (and filling! I'll eat the other half of mine for lunch tomorrow.) Their steamed rolls are delicious & comforting too. We'll definitely be back, and would highly recommend this place! Just as a fyi, it's also great for takeout (that's what we got) and somewhat speedy!

Tsampa in NYC can suck it. First time for Tibetan was Tsampa's and really - it was a bit boring. Healthy, for sure, but overall... I like my heat. I like my complexity. To be honest - I don't give a flying f*ck if a food is totally authentic. If it's tasty, I'm in. Sue me. That being said, I have NO CLUE what 'authentic' Tibetan cuisine is. I just like tastiness. But boring? here, Tibet Kitchen - not so much. We had the vegetarian spring rolls, and they came w/ a side of the most delicious chunky chili sauce - the texture of a good chimichurri but reddish not green. We split an order of Tibetan spring rolls - a litte different from the norm, flattened and served with the chunky chili sauce and a side salad of cabbage. I then had the veggie Thenthuk (a soupy dish with flat, square handmade noodles) and my buddy had the Gyathuk Ngopa w/ chicken (pan-fried noodles). The flavor of both was awesome, especially after one of the employees came over with extra spoonfuls of the chunky chili sauce for our bowls. I have to say, my buddy won w/ the pan-fried noodles - SO YUM! Do yourself a favor and seek out stories of Tibetans in the US, how and why they got here. If this place was around the corner from my house, I'd be large. In charge. As it is, it's a nice post-hike place (we conquered Mt. Sanitas on this particular post-snow spring day) and I will most certainly be back. Go. Enjoy.

I was steered to tibet kitchen by the excellent yelp reviews. Yes the place was good but it certainly didn't live up to the yelp reviews. We ordered the chicken momos (as recommended by everyone on yelp), chili chicken and chicken curry (a big chicken feast). The momos were just ok - nothing bad about them but nothing extraordinary either. The sauce that came with the momos was great. The chili chicken was good although the chilis were the bell peppers (and not real chilies). The chicken currry seemed so-so and very generic. Overall a 3 star place - not bad but not great either. Thew service was excellent though. The people were very nice and friendly.

the only tibet owned tibetan restaurat in town. if you are into home cooking then this place is it, there is the nicest momma who does all the cooking. she makes mommos from scratch in front of your eyes and also makes you anice of pulled noodles from scratch. the stews are are also delicious. it takes time to for the food to arrive but well worth the wait. the owners are very nice. this is areally great place. some of the best tibetan food you can find in the states.

For freshly made and flavorful cheap lunch that wakes up my palate and gives me a zing of energy for the rest of my work day, Tibet Kitchen is the best. Although I'm in no position to speak on the subject of authenticity, I can say that the Tibetan Buddhist teachers at nearby Naropa University, as well as visiting monks and nuns and all manner of Naropa students frequent the restaurant. A certain Lama from Naropa has told me that the momos (dumplings) at Tibet Kitchen are the best. Comparing to Sherpa's, or Tibet's Kitchen (in Louisville), I have to agree. The momos are freshly made, right there in the restaurant. You'll have to wait 15 minutes for them because they're made right when you order them! You can stand at the counter and watch, if you like. Their vegetarian momos vary in content depending on what vegetables are in season (more carrot and cabbage in the winter, more green vegetables in the summer), and the beef and chicken momos are always excellent. Momos are served with a small side of cabbage salad and a dollop of their homemade hot sauce. I don't know for sure what's in it, but it's the only hot sauce that I've had that produces three distinctly different and potent burns, and yet also feels balanced, consistent and smooth yet textured. It lingers nicely, and cools gently with a few sips of water. I wish they'd bottle and sell it (I've asked). Lunch options at Tibet Kitchen are excellent: for less than $6 you get two kinds of dishes with fried rice or brown rice or noodles. The dishes are often meat-based, but there are always at least 2 vegetarian options. All dishes often have a variety of vegetables. Nothing seems greasy or oily or overcooked, which is something I often find at other similarly priced Asian-ish lunch counter operations. Really, it's the best food I've had at a restaurant in Boulder for around $5-7 per person. And the people that work there are all very genuinely friendly. The only possible things to complain of: limited seating An update on the previous reviews: Tibet Kitchen no longer uses styrofoam: food is served on stainless steel plates, and to-go items are in recyclable or biodegradable containers.

I had their pan fried beef. It was a little tough, but the sauce was great. The service was also slow (we ordered extra steamed buns, but by the time they got there, we'd eaten all we wanted). I would give this place another try though.

The food could be spicier and I'd still go to Sherpa's if I had to pick a restaurant in Boulder for Tibetan/Nepalese cuisine. However, for a lunch spot a couple blocks from my work, this place is great. I've only tried a few items off the lunch combo menu, but all have been delicious. I'm told that the hand-made Tibetan dumplings (mo-mos) are amazing, but the server suggested calling in ahead as they take a while to make. I finally remembered to grab a delivery menu the last time I was here and I look forward to ordering from them on a day when I'm feeling especially lazy.

Got the Lela Momo and it was super delish. This place is great. The staff is pleasant and its clean. Location is somewhat tough as the parking is limited but you can park across any of the streets and walk over. Its worth it. Very tasty and nutritious.

I went here because of the high ratings. Sadly I did not enjoy the food. I had the lunch special (veggies) and lentil soup. The lunch special was cold and the flavors were not very bold- pretty bland actually. And the soup had a very weird aftertaste.

Every time I drive by this place, I remind myself to try it next time I'm in the mood for Indian...but I've managed to forget it's there for the past year! Finally last night, we wanted Indian/Himalayan food but didn't feel like leaving the house. Jumped online and went to their great website to see the menu and see that they have FREE DELIVERY! I think it's the only place in Boulder that delivers Indian food! The man on the phone and the delivery man was very nice and delivered exactly what we ordered. The prices are very cheap compared to other Indian places in town and full of flavor! The MOMOS are delicious and I had the Tofu with Bok Choy and chose the traditional bread instead of rice. LOVE THE BUN! We also ordered the Noodle Dish, Thunk Tuk, which was mild but had homemade noodles that hit the spot. We'll definitely go back there again! Highly recommend for authentic Tibetan food.

Don't miss out on the $5 veggie momos! Also, did I mention there's free chai?! It's free!

Interesting experience and the food is pretty good for the price. I like their Momos best although they can get a lil too dry on some days. When ordering beef, make sure you tell them that you want them tender as they tend to overcook.

Incredible Tibetan food for a low price, and some of the nicest people own and run the place. When I thought of returning to Boulder to attend a workshop, the food that I had at Tibet Kitchen was the first thing I thought of. They no longer regularly make a special traditional Tibetan beverage out of a certain type of "butter" because most people are afraid to try it, but when I told the manager that I had hoped for one year to taste it, the beverage was made especially for me. I did not know it, but it turns out that preparing the beverage is a lengthy and difficult process. The building itself is small but comfortable, but it is the high quality and wonderful food itself and the kind and warm hearted people that have me looking forward to returning to Boulder again another year.

Caveat -- I've never been to Tibet, and I actually ate delivered food from Tibet Kitchen while on a quick visit to Boulder. So I don't have the best "frame of reference" to know what is authentic or how this compares to other places in Boulder. But I can say it was healthy and delicous. And the people there were extremely friendly. Plus, they delivered quickly and for free. I think it's a great option if you live close by and want very reasonably priced healthy food that's different than the usual pizza or Chinese.

Sooo ... I'm going to post this as a counterweight to the mostly positive reviews here. I've only ordered from Tibet Kitchen once. It was for take-out and it was, I believe, the basic noodle dish, Gyathuk. I'd been looking forward to checking the place out for a while 'cause it has an air of inconspicuous awesomeness: it's in a little nondescript nano-stip-mall next to a Subway shop to the east and Naropa University to the west, a school devoted to Tibetan tradition. Inconspicuous, yet auspicious, I'd say. It MUST be AMAZING. I get home with my noodles and dig in and ... my first impression is that it's mostly noodles. Really, like 90% of the plastic container is packed noodle. Some broth, which turns out to be uninspiring. A few leaves, some onion-ish spice-ish contents with some flavor. Oh! An errant piece of chicken! Woo! Also--correct me if I'm wrong--but I doubt that the traditional Tibetan noodle dish involves Safeway brand vermicelli, but I'm pretty sure that's what I was eating. It's utterly possible that I just can't appreciate authenticity in Tibetan fare. Or maybe it was an off night. There was one guy manning the place and he was outside chatting with friends when I parked. Nice enough I guess, and amazing food would have made up for any amount of nonchalance. But ... not so. So, I have to admit to being underwhelmed on my first assay. But: definitely willing to give it another go.

Not only does it taste good, it is cheap. I went only once, had their hand-made noodles thenthuk and it was alright but their forte is the dumplings (called mo-mo). I had the combination dumplings in which I tried the beef, vegetables and chicken, all of them were delicious! I like to know what I am eating with my taste buds, not with my eyes and this place has captured the taste of each meat and vegetable. When I go next time, all I am getting are the mo-mos. I hate to say what everyone else is saying because it doesn't help anyone reading the review but I have to say this. STOP AND GET THE MO-MOS!

I think we drove around this place twice because the GPS said we were here but we could not see it. The place is nestled next to a Subway and there is limited seating. We were sad that they ran out of the salty butter tea, because we were very curious as to what that would taste like. I had the Ghutsel Rithuk, which is shell shaped hand-rolled pasta. The soup base was really flavorful and I enjoyed it. We also ordered the vegetarian momo's to share and they reminded me of traditional chinese dumplings. I didn't really like the doughy-ness of the wrapper on the dumpling. Altogether it was a pleasant experience and the staff is very friendly and attentive.

Just go. I haven't had food like this since I was in Boudhanath, Nepal, near the Great Stupa.

I've been coming to this place since I got back from my extended travels to India and Nepal in February 2008. Anytime I start longing for McLeod Ganj or Bodhanath, I am sure to stop by and get some momos and chai. To those who say the food is bland you definitely need to ask for some of their homemade hot sauce. Also remember that Tibetan's are meat and grain people traditionally. They have adapted and changed their dishes to suite western palates and to include the abundance of vegetables not usually available in Tibet. That said the Tsel Mo-mo, Vegetable Momos (dumplings), are delicious as are the Lang- Sha Mo-mo, Beef Momos. I am not a fan of the Jhasa Sha Mo-mo, Chicken Momos, but you can give all of the Momos a try by getting Combination plate of 8 eight. Another great vegetarian selection is the Dali, Lentil Soup, and Phing Alla, the pan fried Vegetable Spring Rolls, get both for a light meal. For more traditional Tibetan fare you can try Tentuk, traditionally a meat based soup with short pulled noodles, or Gyathuk, also known as Thukpa, also traditionally a meat based soup with longer noodles. Both soups can be made vegetarian. Then what is my favorite Mothuk, a beef dumpling soup that is very filling and just right for a cold day. My all time favorite dish is Beef Shaptak, a spicy beef dish, best served with Ting-mo, steamed Tibetan bread. You can try a variety of dishes during lunch time when they have very reasonable lunch specials. This is essentially a very small restaurant on the casual side. There is a small back room with a few tables and the front with stools and a lunch counter. In summer there is a nice outside sitting area. The reason to come here is the food. A word of warning, Butter Tea is an acquired tasted. It is great to dip Ting-mo into for breakfast, but as some of my friends say, "Cold butter tea is far worse than hot butter tea." If you are daring to try something new. Do yourself a favor and don't wait for it to cool.

Thought the food was pretty tasty and an excellent value. 20 minutes later got very sick to my stomach. Will not be going back.

Tiny hole-in-the-wall Tibetan restaurant in Boulder. I tried this place after reading the reviews on Yelp. I ordered the chili chicken and vegetarian Momo. The chicken was in a tomato based sauce with chili and bell peppers. I love spicy food, and although this dish had some heat it seemed to be lacking a bit in flavor. The steamed dumplings were fantastic. It's not a surprise that this is their signature dish. I loved the dipping sauce and pickled cabbage on the side. Seating is limited which probably makes this a good take out place. It also works out perfectly if you're dining alone on a business trip!

Great lunch spot! The buffet is good, although the choices don't change often. Sometimes he gives us free chai.

I love this place. It's my "go to" place when I'm running around and find myself wanting something to eat that's hearty and good. Ghutsel Rithuk with chicken is my "usual" and in the short time I've been in Boulder the owners have come to know me and what I like. I don't even have to order it anymore, they yell the order to the kitchen when they see me walk in. Don't get me wrong, I've tried just about everything on the menu. It's just that this particular dish is my favorite. I've turned others onto this place and they love it too. It is family owned and run, and I love the opportunity to support the local, small business owner. I hope they're around for a long time and become prosperous (if they're not already). Just one other note, they're noodle soups are especially good in the winter time when you want something hearty and filling. They also have a buffet for lunch. They also serve Momos, which are good, although I've had better in other cities. Still, that doesn't keep me from eating theirs. Try them out.
