Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

the pesto pizza was fantastic! I will visit frequently! my family could have eaten there every night. It's tucked in a corner but worth finding!

I found this pizza place via yelp and love it. I'm visiting from New Jersey and this place beats out any pizza shops I've been to (sorry Jersey). I had the pesto sauce cheese and the white. Delicious!

  • R G.

Quick and simple. We stopped in here for a slice. The three cheese, white sauce pizza was enough to fulfill my appetite. My boyfriends Sicilian slice wasn't very good. His sauce was bland and it was overall a lifeless slice. And what the heck? Pay for a refill? Who pays for refills when the soda dispenser is on the customer's side of the register...it's like a trap. It's like they're asking me to steal more soda!

  • Amanda T.

Fantastic! Pizza by the slice is a pretty good price, pizza as a whole can get a bit pricey - but very worth it, when you can see the make the entire thing fresh! And that freshness definitely is shown in the taste, yumm! We will order a pizza to go, and a slice to eat while we wait for our pizza. So good.

Nothing fancy, but only place ON Pearl St. that offers Za by the slice. The staff are typical stoner funky freaks, but friendly and part of why you are on Pearl St to start with. Went with friends and their kids who are pretty picky eaters. Kids loved the standard cheese slice and each asked for a second! There is seating in the back, but if weather is nice you can take your slice and sit out on the mall and watch the world go by. Enjoy!

Great pizza, tons of varieties natural sodas live music from next door at the lazy dog if you sit outside and a great place for people watching!

Had a Slice of Pesto Pizza and a Slice of White Pizza with Pineapples and Pepperoni. Its a Combo Deal with a Soda for 7.29 and the slices are a nice size. They also have a Combo Deal with a Salad if you want to eat healthy for part of your meal. They have a sign up that they charge for refills but I didn't see anyone checking. The Pizza is tasty, a lil greasy but its a pizza its supposed to be greasy. The Crust is delicious. They serve cannolis and nice sized chocolate chip cookies. The seating is in the back which is spacious and they have a bar by the front window with a few stools. They are friendly as well when serving up your Pie. If the weather is right you can sit outside as well.

Only pizza on pearl st mall so I admit, working right across the street I'll eat there from time to time . Angry and pesto are their best slices. Worked and made pizza for years as a teenager , so it's disappointing to pay top dollar for pizza slices made far in advance and heated up In a toaster oven. The price is also steep for what you receive. But the most annoying thing of all is they don't serve your slices to go In a standard pizza box. Instead they put it on the cheapest paper plate ever made with foil on top and one napkin , that's right , one napkin. (No napkin dispensers in the place, actually have seen two kids sharing one napkin in there before . lol) Really? Can't afford napkins? Or 10" pizza boxes ? By the time I get back to the office it's already cold. There are much better slices in boulder just not on the mall. Anthony's! Open up on the mall, please !!!

Best pizza in boulder to my knowledge. Its amazing I had the basil pesto with sundried tomatoes, garlic and artichoke hearts. YEAH, its was kick ass and YEAH the ingredient were fresh. Let me continue with the fact I dislike crust and finding crust I'll eat is something special. I ate all my crust and it was great. The pizza is a tad bit expensive but overall totally worth it $20.16 for 16" pie.

An A-ok pizza, finished off with an awesome dessert. Pizza Colore is a pizza parlor that caters to those in need of a quick and tasty slice, especially after a long night partying (they are one of the only places within the Pearl St. area that offers food after the bars close, 2:00 am). Stopped by recently at around 9:00 on a thursday night for two slices of pizza and a carrot cake. The artichoke, red pepper, and olive white pizza was good, yet the olives overpowered the rest of the flavors - could have used more cheese too. As for the pepperoni white pizza, it was great - the spice from the pepperoni complimented the buttery goodness of the rest. I exchanged greetings with "Julio" (that's what they told me his name was) while waiting in line, who I came to learn wasn't only a cool dude, but made the desserts there. Unlike most places around here, Pizza Colore makes their own desserts: baked goods that encompass much more than their cannolis. I went with the carrot cake; it was possibly the best carrot cake I have ever had - the icing was rich and creamy, the cake was moist and decadent, and it definitely went down great with a belgian pale ale (not supplied by Colore). The staff was friendly and accommodating: willing to honor a few pizza punchcards for slices, offer some additional punches, and provide the option for a custom pizza if wanted, the trip was worth it. Despite the initial appearance upon entry, there is actually a decent sized seating area at the back of the restaurant with an additional two private bathrooms. Only complaint: the outdoor table against the window wobbled far too much.

I've enjoyed more late night slices at this pizza joint than I should admit. So many in fact that I went in last night to redeem multiple punch cards (this cool rainy weather really has me craving some warm and indulgent fare). Yes folks even during their busiest times of day the staff are always happy to either punch your existing punch card or start a new one for you (buy ten slices get the 11th for a penny). My favorite slice has to be the pesto either on its on or topped with pepperoni. The napkins are kept behind the counter so if you like to dab any oil/grease from the top of your slice be sure to request extra napkins when paying. There are always several pies to choose from - from thin crust to deep dish. You can always add that favorite topping for a bit more but somehow I seem to wait until I'm absolutely ravenous to get in for my pie. Last night was a calm one and I am happy to have taken the time to actually check out their dessert offerings as well as to relax and eat my pizza on their patio. Cannoli's aren't really my thing so I didn't find them enticing though they do offer both plain and chocolate covered. I decided to go for the carrot cake as it looked absolutely fabulous. Thick white frosting and whole walnuts to boot. We found out from speaking to the staff that the carrot cake is fresh made in store by their chef Julio and boy can you tell it was made with care. I am huge on desserts and all things sweet and I am so excited to share this stellar find. The cake was delightfully dense and the carrot slivers were large enough to see but not distractingly large or noticeable to chew. If you aren't in mood for a slice I most definitely recommend snagging their carrot cake! It is extremely delicious and I will be returning sooner than later for another piece.

Pizza Colore has a great location right on the Pearl Street Mall. But don't base your impressions on the pizza shop's appearance - it's not much to look at and the decor is pretty spartan. The pizza, however, is pretty decent and they have a nice variety of pizzas - which are typically sold by the slice but are also available as a full pie. My wife and I split 3 slices so we got to try a variety. The pesto pizza with sun-dried tomatoes and articoke hearts was very good. My wife's favorite was a pizza with a ranch dressing based sauce, ham and pineapples. Our 3rd slice had a thicker style crust and was heavy on the veggies - also excellent. Maybe not the best pizza in the world - but certainly pretty good pizza in an excellent location. Worth stopping in.

Pizza was decent, staff was nice, soup was decent but none of it was anything special. I had a slice of pepperoni and a cup of creamy chicken noodle soup. My boyfriend had lobster bisque soup and it tasted too lobstery.....idk how else to describe it but he had a couple spoon fulls and decided he did not like it. We sat in and ate. It wasnt really nice or anything, but either way it was just pizza by the slice. Not bad but nothing special!

  • Kate G.

This isn't my favorite pizza in the whole world, but I like being able to drop in and grab a quick slice when I'm walking around Pearl Street starving and don't want to deal with a restaurant. The slices are thin, huge and can be topped with an extensive variety of choices. There's a tiny counter up front that you can sit at and browse a newspaper as you inhale your slice, and I usually do. Super cheap too...unlike everywhere else in the vicinity.

    (3)
  • Ali M.

Do you like having your slice sneezed on before it's served to you? Then this is your spot. I give it two stars only because it is the only spot to get a slice on Pearl St, the only place to eat for under $5, and it as saved my tummy on many a drunken eve (they are open late). But yesterday when I ordered a slice, the guy took it out of the oven and SNEEZED before handing it to me! He made no attempt to cover it, hide it, or otherwise remedy the situation. I was so appalled i left without it. Come to think of it, I am giving this place one star- though I have to admit, I will probably still go there...

    (1)
  • Kristin K.

The slice of pepperoni pizza I had here was possibly the most tasteless I've ever had. It tasted like plain bread with no flavor at all. I don't typically eat pizza, but I was starving and wanted food fast. At least it only cost $3.50. Oh, and it was hotter inside the restaurant than it was outside.

    (2)
  • Evan T.

I stopped in Pizza Colore for a single thick slice of their Americana Supreme (or something like that) pizza. On the plus side, the pizza was filling and significantly cheaper than most other food options on Pearl Street. On the downside, the pizza was fairly flavorless and dry. Further, it was not hot enough. Nonetheless, this may be a good, quick option on Pearl Street, if only because of its convenient location and prices.

    (2)
  • Cliff T.

I think this pizza is tasty and priced better than anything on Pearl. Great place to grab a quick bite that you can eat and walk with.

    (4)
  • Harry P.

Nice place to grab a quick slice, I'm a fan of the Picanté Sicilian.

    (5)
  • Selene L.

Sure, their pizza is alright, but I will never go back to this place. On more than one occasion, their employees have been flat-out rude... and not just your general unfriendliness, either. These guys made snide comments about the way my friends and I were dressed (?!) and treated one of the girls I was with like an idiot just for asking a question about the menu. Sure, I understand they probably get all kinds of odd characters in there due to their location on Pearl, if you know what I'm saying. Even so, it doesn't give them the right to be complete jerks to anyone who walks in.

    (1)
  • Beau W.

Great east coast imitation. The dough is soft and floppy. That is key. They have a good balance of traditional NY style with creative ideas. Non-traditional toppings and sauces. Great big slices and quality product. Definitely recommend this place to a visiting east coaster or someone in search of a east coast style pie.

  • King G.

I live on 9th and pearl, and they say they have a delivery service, and I just called in today and a girl said that my cribs to far to deliver? Like what? 4 blocks, I don't know where the hell these people are from, but on the eastcoast we like money, and our pizza, if you can't walk 4 blocks get out of the F out of the game. I used to spend a ton of cash in this place and now I'll never buy another thjng from here.

    (1)
  • Diane K.

2 large pizzas--1 cheese, 1 spinach and ricotta--for $31.00. A little pricey, right? Delivery estimate was 45 minutes to an hour. They were on time--45 minutes (we were two blocks away). Thin slices, pretty good bread (though one was a little burnt). It hit the spot because I was super hungry, but taste was just okay.

So this pizza place is in a quiet little shop in Boulder and very homely and that is a good thing, and there are the people that work there, they are friendly and very helpful and the food is hot and makes you want to go up and order more

  • Dane S.

It smells great from the outside, and it pretty divey inside. They need more outdoor seating. Our kids liked the pizza, and the gluten-free pizza was very good.

  • Justin M.

I've stopped in here for a quick lunch a couple times. Grabbing a slice is cheap and the pizza is solid. It's one of those "we already made the pizza but we throw a little more cheese on it and warm it up for 5 minutes" types. The crust was the winner of the slice, the rest was your standard fare. Crust was nice and crispy with a fresh flavor to it. It was better than what the cheese and sauce were bringing to the party. I still come here occasionally but I also still split my lunchtime slice biz between Pizza Colore and Nick N Willys. About the same price, about the same quality.

    (3)
  • Hannah E.

I still like the Colore and stop in for a slice when I'm around, however: Their sundried tomatoes consistently taste like cranberries and that can really throw off a savory slice. Also, their whole pies are a world of difference away from their slices. I never knew this before because I had only ordered slices. But the other day a friend of mine ordered an entire pesto pie and... WOW. Fantastic. That should be a good thing, right? Well... I never WANT a whole pie. The whole point of Colore for me is that it's the place where I grab a slice when I'm feeling a bit hungry, but not restaurant-hungry, and definitely not whole-pizza hungry. Now every time I stop in for a slice, I wistfully dream of their whole pie as I eat it. The slices taste dry now. Ignorance was most certainly bliss.

  • Jen M.

Why do I always manage to stroll into this place after a couple pops? The slices are good albeit a little pricey. But hey, if you need something to soak up the cocktails, this place does the job.

FOOD This a great place to get food fast and fresh. They have a huge selection of toppings, three different types of base pizza sauce (red, white and pesto) and two types of crust (really thick or regular). The great thing about this place is that they carry other food that you might love: chocolate mousse (not always available), carrot cake, fresh salads and cannoli's. SERVICE The staff is quick and efficient and usually very polite. But they do get aggressive with people who are getting rowdy, are drunk, who decide they want to shoot up in the bathroom or who are repeat offenders and just come in to bother them. (I totally support their efforts in keeping their family restaurant free of these people.) AESTHETICS I have to be honest and say the interior isn't the prettiest. But if you do visit this place keep in mind that there is a bunch of seating in the back; people don't usually realize this and won't go in in big groups b/c it looks small.

    (4)
  • Chris P.

I grew up in NY and the pizza here tastes just like home. They have lots of great combos but honestly the plain slices & the pesto slices are so flavorful that's usually all I get. Plus the service there really is excellent. Paul and Charles are especially good at making you feel welcome and getting your order taken care of quickly. Don't be fooled by the reviews of people that stumble in there drunk, act rude to the staff and then have the nerve to trash the place.

    (5)
  • M A.

Cheap, baked to order, and it tasted great. I'm all about cheap food that tastes good AND is made fresh considering how rare it is to have that happen! The broccoli and the artichokes are very fresh and taste wonderful on the pizzas. I'm not a crust fan so I can't vouch for that, but I really enjoyed how thin and crispy the slices were as well as the fact they don't drench it in sauce. It may not be the best pizza ever or a life-changing experience, but the fact you can afford $6 for two slices and a drink while getting a meal that tastes great is a good thing.

  • pinche d.

Decent lunch specials ... thick slices have more flavor the thin slices. Service is always under par since it's new ppl working the counter all the time and owner is a major prick.

If you're downtown and what something quick and cheap to eat, this is a good option. The pizza isn't great, but it's good enough. There are a few seats up front if you want to people watch and more seating in the back.

  • Idan S.

I've eaten there several times when I was drunk walking around Pearl st. late at night - and have to say I still didn't like their pizza any time I've had it. That being said, I didn't think it was horrible so I gave them 2 stars. You know you make some pretty bad pizza when drunk people think it sucks! But alas, I'll probably wind up going back at some point when I need some greasy/carby food to absorb the excess alcohol in my stomach around 1:30 in the morning on a Thursday...

Best pizza in Boulder! Huge slices, and, if you're like me and don't care for tomato sauce, they have great pesto and the white pizza is the best. Try the angry pineapple!

  • Danny C.

Pizza is fine- nothing special- but the owners/managers treated me like a criminal- and I have no idea why. First when the guy handed me two slices with one napkin- I looked around, saw no more napkins- and so asked him for more telling him I didn't see any- his response "We don't trust anyone"- as he handed me the napkins. Then his manager comes out from behind the counter, comes up to my face and asks me with a pretty challenging and snarky attitude: "Everything ok out here?" Really caught me by surprise- this was not a customer-servicey kind of question- this was an outright challenge... really strange. My partner told me he heard the owner say "the guy with the red shirt" (me) right before snarkey manager confronted me... so something weird was going on- but seriously, WTF?? I was visiting Boulder from Denver- and felt about as unwelcome as one can feel in this stupid little crappy pizza place.

Loveeee this pizza place. Haven't been able to find too many places in Boulder that I love, but this place and the pizza joint at the Flatirons Mall both offer the same thing: a tasty, easy meal. Always lots of selections, love their desserts (the cookies are the best)! Cheap too. Around five bucks for two cheese slices... not bad for pearl.

I work on Pearl St., so this place is a frequent dinner/lunch stop for my coworkers and me. While it's not the best pizza I've ever had, their enormous selection of toppings and their calzones make it one of my favorites. I recommend the artichoke hearts!

I think this pizza is tasty and priced better than anything on Pearl. Great place to grab a quick bite that you can eat and walk with.

Nice place to grab a quick slice, I'm a fan of the Picanté Sicilian.

I recommend the artichoke hearts!

the pesto pizza was fantastic! I will visit frequently! my family could have eaten there every night. It's tucked in a corner but worth finding!

I found this pizza place via yelp and love it. I'm visiting from New Jersey and this place beats out any pizza shops I've been to (sorry Jersey). I had the pesto sauce cheese and the white. Delicious!

  • Amanda T.

  • Dane S.

It smells great from the outside, and it pretty divey inside. They need more outdoor seating. Our kids liked the pizza, and the gluten-free pizza was very good.

Why do I always manage to stroll into this place after a couple pops? The slices are good albeit a little pricey. But hey, if you need something to soak up the cocktails, this place does the job.
