Want eat some dishes not on the menu but in your mind? Ask the chef Lao Liu there. He can design dishes for you once you become a old customer. Taste good or no paid. The Chef is easy-going there.

The service was great and the food was delish!!! Loved it!!! I will for sure be back! I ordered the Basil Chicken, Fried Rice, Wonton Soup, and Cheese Wontons. Which btw, all came together as a meal. Love it!! Can't wait to go back and try something new :-)

I think that the ownership is changed hands and the food is not as good as it was before.

My husband and I tried this place out one night when we were struck with a massive craving for noodles. We ordered from the authentic Chinese menu and were pleased with the results. After living in China for a few months, my husband was transported back in time as he took his first bite. The owners here are very sweet and checked on us often. I love this restaurant because it reminded me of many asian restaurants I frequented as a child with my parents while living in the Bay Area. No frills, just basic glasstop tables, newspapers strewn about and delicious, quick food.

Fast delivery. Food came hot and fresh. Loved everything. I LOVE the pho soup and shrimp tempura especially. What a great find! If I ever have a cold or flu this place will be the first that I go to for pho soup.

I had high hopes after reading some of the reviews... I love chinese food and I'm not terribly picky, but this bummed me out. My meat was sorta weird and grainy. The sesame chicken wasn't great. The fried wontons had too thick of a shell. Delivery was prompt, but it wasn't worth it. I really wanted to love this place!

We had delivery and the food came within 10 minutes if our requested time and was hot and delicious. Our order included the Super Bowl and green beef curry which was spicy and pretty fantastic. Also had the pork gyoza - yum!

There are much better establishments in boulder for Asian food. I ordered delivery....it took 20 minutes and the food was bland. No spices at all.

The Pho is GREAT. The owner is very friendly. I pretty much have the taste bud for pho and a good company made it a great experience. I got the special combination pho, and eggrolls. I came here on a snowy day and the wait was not too bad, however be ready for a packed restaurant! I also learned that they do online ordering and delivery.

I placed an online order via HungryBuffs for dinner for my family. Nearly an hour went by, and we still didn't have our food. I logged on to my account to make sure that my order had gone through, only to find that I received an email telling me that my order had been canceled! The email informing me of this was sent 48 minutes after I had placed my order. My kids were hungry and grumpy (and so was I). So, I called the restaurant to find out why my order had been canceled. The man answering the phone told me that the special that they were not honoring the special pricing that was being advertised on HungryBuffs, and that they had told HungryBuffs to remove it from their site. I told him that I was willing to pay the higher price, but that we just wanted our food. He proceeded to tell me that there was nothing he could do because they were too busy?!?! Well, sir, that was the FIRST time I'd ever tried to order from this restaurant, and I can assure you it was also my LAST.

I've been going to Jin Chan for years, even before they moved. I was there about a month ago for my last time. I often get the sesame tofu which has gone down over the years, at some point they removed broccoli from the recipe so you just get tofu and chow mein noodles. The last few times I went the service was less than inspired The space has always been a bit funky which is part of the appeal but when I looked at the state of the kitchen the past few times it made me wonder how they were compliant with health code. This coupled with someone smoking a cigarette at the back door of the place filled it with stench. Overall it feels like they're just going through the motions...

I love their Basil Shrimp and their Pho is better than Chey Thuy down the street for sure (though not crazy good or anything).

For our first time trying out Jin Chan today, we ordered a bunch of takeout dishes and appetizers for a lazy eat-in lunch. The Good: Not expensive, free delivery, no MSG (claimed, anyhow) and the menu covers a lot of ground. The beef rolls were particularly tasty and everything was still hot when it got here. The Less Good: It's hard to think of anything really special about the other entrees. It seemed like food you would find on any Americanized Chinese buffet . I'll probably try it again, but I'm just not too excited about it.

I've ordered food at Jin Chan twice. The first experience was pretty good, food was yummy delivery took about 40 mins. The second time I had HORRIBLE experience. After ordering dinner around 8PM, my boyfriend and I waited an hour and our food still hasn't arrived. I gave them a call and they told us it was on its way. 20 minutes later (9:20PM) our food still hasn't arrived. I gave them a call again to cancel our order because now it is getting late and we did not want to wait anymore. The person who answered the phone was RUDE and unsympathetic. He proceeds to say that we should wait longer and that this was "normal" for delivery to take this long. He refuses to cancel our order and says "I can't help you" over and over again and hung up on me. The food arrived 20 mins later, while I have already gotten some fast casual and the driver expected us to pay for the meal. The food was COLD and it was obvious it's been sitting out for a while. All in all this was the WORST experience I have ever had ordering food and it compelled me to write my first Yelp review. DON'T ORDER FOOD HERE!!!!!

Both dishes we got had no flavor at all. My wife had sweet&sour shrimp and I had basil garlic beef, which was supposed to be spicy. This was the worst Chinese food I have ever had.

The Szechuan beef was not spicy enough and the General Tso's chicken was somehow soggy. Overall it had good flavor.

I like the new Jin Chan better than their older, larger location. Black pepper chicken & hot & sour soup were great. Good value. Cheaper for lunch than dinner. I look forward to future visits here.

We had forgotten all about Jin Chan--they've been around a long time. We ordered takeout from them recently, and it was frankly terrible. Bland, generic, not appetizing. One of the vegetarian dishes seemed to have a meat-based sauce on it, certainly not what we expected. We're still searching for decent Chinese food in Boulder after 15 years. Jin Chan still isn't it.

Best Chinese food in Boulder (and I spent 6 months in Taipei so I know good Chinese food).

3.5 stars Right by our house, so we frequent pretty often for take-out or a quick bite for lunch. Good value for the amount of food. And their hole in the wall restaurant is the perfect ambiance for the Hole-In-The-Wall-Chinese-For-Lunch craving. We mostly go for the orange chicken, which is fantastic - best in town. Wonton soup great - and i appreciate that they include wonton soup as an option in their lunch special unlike Five Spices The other dishes I've tried have been inconsistent - some pretty good, some only mediocre. And surprisingly, considering the other review, I have actually been mostly disappointed with their chicken and broccoli - bland

I eat here once a month with co-workers and it's a good cheap place to grab some asian food during lunch. I generally get the huge bowl of pho which is only about 5 or 6. I'd recommend getting the medium size unless you are very hungry. Both the service and food are good.

Not very good. The fiance had some very fond memories of eating at this place while starving through college. He insisted/suggested this place as pit stop while passing through Boulder during a recent trip to Colorado. Unfortunately the current place did not live up to his memories...at all... The place is pretty sad. I guess it used to be attached the neighboring Asian grocery store. Anyways, the food was not good and the fiance's meat may have been on the downside of its lifespan. I had a spicy basil eggplant with shrimp dish with rice. It was both pretty greasy and had that cornstarch-as-thickener look and gloss to the sauce. Gross. Not very appetizing but still edible. Like I said above, the fiance had a beef stir fry and the beef was definitely not fresh. I ordered a thai iced tea which was clearly made from a powder mix and not very well dissolved...very pasty and with a weird medicine-ey taste. Pros: Low prices, wide range of Asian flavors (from Thai to Singapore, etc) Cons: Food, slow and forgetful service, quality & freshness are lacking I would definitely not go back and they have ruined my fiance's fond memories of the place!

sad, sad, sad... This place had been open in Boulder for at least 15 years if not more. It used to be housed inside the Asian market, and then moved next door to the market. Their menu was on photocopied papers that were laminated and back in the day it was cool to order and see the people making your food. They used to have tables right in the market where you could eat your food. My favorite thing they had were their spring rolls and their special dipping sauce that went with it. I have not been able to find that same sauce anywhere. sad, sad, sad...

We ordered takeout from here on Christmas...one gripe was the claim that it'd be ready in 10 minutes. Not so, my dear Confucius! Otherwise, their food was decent (we had kung pao chicken, wonton soup, orange beef, and mixed veggies - the latter of which they messed up, giving us just bok choy). I still prefer Fan's up in Niwot, but we were trying to branch out and give somewhere else a shot. Fan's still wins!

I really enjoyed this eatery. Granted it's not the best Chinese food in the world, but it's the best of what it is. I actually enjoyed how when I ordered lemon chicken, it came with soup, an egg roll and rice. I liked that, cause it was only about $12. I felt it was rightly priced for what I got too! It wasn't overly greasy, (what Chinese food isn't?). The wonton soup was delicious, albeit not the most creative soup. The lemon sauce for the chicken felt a little jelled, but trustworthy. My friends enjoy the specials they offer to college students. I've already ordered from them twice in a week and I know I will in the future!

The food isn't bad. The service is awful for delivery. We have ordered Chinese from Jin Chan's a couple of times and always had it delivered to the office. Every time, they are about 50 minutes and they say it is because they cannot find us, yet it's the same delivery guy every time! This last time was my last shot with them. After 55 minutes of waiting, I called them back. I said that I had ordered our food an hour ago and was wondering when it would be delivered. The man actually yelled - told me it had not been over an hour, and that it had only been 40 minutes (my credit authorization said 12:31 and I called at 1:27pm). He kept saying OK over and over and wouldn't let me me speak. I had to hang up. We called back to try and talk to him again, and this time he yelled (again) that it was on it's way - 6 times, we counted - and then he hung up on us. Never again.

One of my favorite restaurants - I eat there regularly for lunch and dinner with friends. The menu has a lot of variety without being confusing, the owner and staff are friendly, and the prices are very inexpensive. The menu isn't limited to Chinese food. They have a very passable pho style soup, and several "bowl" meals - I recommend the Super Bowl. They have the best Asian barbecue ribs in town, and I regularly order the duck. For an appetizer, try the calamari salad. It is truly delicious, and while the sesame balls (filled with sweet bean paste) are listed as an appetizer, I always get them for dessert. And no, you don't have to order at the counter (although you can - it is a take-out restaurant as well) - you are waited on at the table if you dine in.

***********R.I.P Asian Deli******************* I went to eat here today (April 24th) and out of nowhere, it is gone! It is being replaced by Jin Chan, which I never liked, so today is a very sad day. I leave the review in the Asian Deli's memory..... This place is definitely funky digs, but I do love to go here from time to time. My favorite is this egg roll noodle dish, which is, well- a bit undescribable, but all about texture. Really, this place is hard to describe- very hole-in-the-wall, and very not-Boulder, which can be refreshing from time to time.

By far the lowest quality Chinese delivery food I have experienced thus far in Boulder. Soups were bland, actually everything was bland. I do not recommend, unless looking for a really quick meal.

Disappointed! This palace used to be my fairly regular Vietnamese noodle soup place but apparently it was no more (I did moved out of town for a few years). Better yet the name of my favorite Chinese restaurant "Jin Chan" appears on the sign. But do not be foul, this is not the Jin Chan used to be on 28th st across from the 29th street mall, completely different and not half as good as the old Jin Chan. That's what happens when you take your eyes off for a few years.

The old Jin Chan used to be one of my favorite Chinese places in Boulder, even though it still wasn't great Chinese. This new Jin Chan is awful. Incredibly greasy food. My girlfriend and I actually couldn't finish our dishes. They weren't just off on taste they were actually physically gross. Also, the smell of mothballs or some other chemical pervades the place and I was clawing at the chance to get out of it. Had a waiter seat me, but then had to order up front. Still don't understand this. One of the few places I would actually urge someone not to go for health reasons.

Meh. This place used to be good when they were where Maharaja's restaurant is. They closed down for a couple of years, then opened up again where the old Vietnamese hole-in-the-wall restaurant used to be on 28th near the asian food market. Now, they've gone completely downhill. The same sweet lady no longer runs the front of the dining room, and the crotchety old man is taking your order. The dining room is 1/5 the size of what it used to be, and the quality of their food has suffered greatly. Not going back for a while. And Jin Chan USED to be my regular Chinese restaurant favorite. They are no longer.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
