Saw this charming little eatery as we were driving on Pearl Street; there was a free parking spot across the street so we decided to try it for a late lunch. So glad we did! All the sandwich and salad choices are described on signs above the counter--so many yummy options! I had the Gobbler, with homemade cooked turkey, avocado, tomatoes, lettuce, bacon and pesto on ciabatta. It was soooo good but I could only eat half before getting full. My husband had the Caprese sandwich which is usually cold, but he asked for it hot--came out crispy and delicious on ciabatta. Boulder chips and a homemade pickle are included in the price. With a drink, it was $25, pretty reasonable for a good lunch! Will definitely be back to sample some of the other yummy sounding sammies!

GLUTEN FREE SANDWICHES! GLUTEN FREE SANDWICHES! I believe they make the bread there, too... PLUS! I'm sad we found this place right before we moved... these are some serious, tasty, and creative sandwiches-- and you get chips and a crispy, tasty homemade pickle. The first time I went in there, I spent about 10 minutes staring at all of the options on the menu and really couldn't figure out which one I wanted to try out first. For the record, I went with the Gobbler, but later tried the Italian, and am now wishing I could have the East End or Whittier for lunch today. Also, the case in the front always has tasty looking options... but I couldn't resist the sandwiches. YUM!

I really wanted to love this place. My husband and I decided to check this place out because so many people gave great reviews to their gluten free bread. I will say I loved the sandwich toppings. If I could eat gluten I am sure this would have been 5 stars for me. However, their gluten free bread is pretty ordinary. It would have been considered good gluten free about five years ago. However, in the current market it isn't very good. The flavor is good but the bread is very crumbly. It falls apart as you are eating it. The texture is grainy and off-putting. I give them props for making it however, if you can't produce something as good as can be bought at the grocery store then you should provide something from another company. I get that this company tries to source a much as possible from local companies but in this case that is no excuse since there are a number of local companies that have great gluten free bread. I don't mean to be well mean but anyone who considers this good gluten free bread hasn't tried much gluten free bread.

I always wanted to try this place, but wasn't really sure what it was. Cute exterior that looked inviting. I was having one of those indecisive drives around Boulder "dinner will find me, just keep looking." So when I passed it, I pulled over and did a quick yelp search on my phone. Sandwiches! Perfect. I think I was headed towards Snarfs in a last ditch effort, but glad I pulled in here. I think it's primarily a catering place, but they have quite the selection of fresh sandwiches. It took me a strong two minutes to decide what I would get. I finally went with the gobbler at the expense of the thanksgiving dinner sandwich. The gobbler is your standard turkey sandwich, if it was going to be standard. This wasn't. The turkey was fresh off the bones. How do I know? Instant nap when I finished eating it. The ciabatta bread was cut in front of me, and all the veggies piled on as though fresh from the garden. The sandwich was massive (thank goodness, for $10!). I couldn't finish it, and trust me I was hungies. I have to return to get at that Thanksgiving Dinner Sandwich (turkey, stuffing, and cranberry). I know it's going to be a winner.

Love Dish! One of my favorites in Boulder to go eat with my sister and miss it so much as I no longer live there. Among my favorites... Their tomato soup (maybe it's bisque), blat sandwich, Boulder BBQ and risotto cakes! Although I have had 1-2 side dishes that were iffy, for the most part they are GREAT!

Food is good. Bread was kinda hard. Bathroom is clean and smells like weed (ayyyyy!). Very good vibes coming from this place and the people working here. Probably because of all the weed they smoked in the bathroom.

Very mixed review. The blueberry muffin was so dry it was basically inedible. I was really, really hungry and still just threw it away after two bites. Zero stars. Skip the baked goods! The Kenai salmon sandwich was a bit dry and salty- it needed more cream cheese spread and a lot fewer capers. The house-smoked salmon was good, but nothing super special. Two stars, not worth the price. The pork sandwich we had was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! Great balance of flavors (although I would have liked a bit more cheese). Five stars. All the sides we tried were also killer, great flavor combos with well executed ingredients! Four stars. Pickles were not to my taste (half-sours I think) but my dad loved them. Three stars.

Love this little spot off Pearl... Perfect place to grab a sandwich or salad and enjoy their patio. It might take me a year but I fully intend to make my way through their entire sandwich menu.. There are so many amazing options! So far the Sole Sister is a fav, their house-smoked salmon is delicious. They serve their breakfast sandwiches all day which makes it pretty tough to ever try anything else. But I also love the dish salad with grilled chicken if you're looking for something a little lighter.

One of my favorite sandwich shops in Boulder. They have a wide menu of items to select from. Plenty of seating inside and out. I tend to get the piglet and a mexi-coke. The only downfall is they are NOT open on Sunday. So, I only get one day to enjoy their delicious food.

I came here with my boyfriend on a Wednesday, and our experience was awful. I ordered a BLAT and when it came, there wasnt any avocado on it, so I very politely asked one of the sandwich makers to fix it. When I got It back the sandwich had blackened, rotting avocado that was obviously passed it's prime smeared all over one half of the sandwich with all of the lettuce and tomato piled on top, leaving only bacon on the other half. It was sloppy, ruined, and looked disgusting, and given that I paid 8 bucks for such a simple sandwich, it was utterly ridiculous. I dont know what I did to offend the man making my food, but if you don't like working in the food service industry and feel the need to take it out on your customers, you should work elsewhere.

Great little place if you are looking for high quality sandwiches. The Gobbler was perfect. The Tuscan was just ok. Could have used more white bean spread. I just tasted bread and not much else. Upgrade your side to one of the killer salads! We got the potato salad. It also had zucchini and squash in it. One of the best I've ever had!

Really good food. Exceptionally tasty sandwiches(!), nice selection of healthy ore-made options like beets and beans and pasta salads. Nice drink selection. Towards the end of Pearl street so you're not in the heart of the action, which is a plus more than a bane. My biggest gripe is the douchey server. I ordered food to go and when he gave me my receipt to sign he said, "Why don't you go total that up for me." I was going to tip you, Ace. You don't need to be a fukcing prick about it. Otherwise very nice.

I see Dish as a stereotypical Boulder restaurant:(e.g, Leaf the kitchen, Shine, Zeal): esoteric name. fresh organic ingredients, a claim to be gourmet and then tasteless food overpriced food. Also, while this may seem petty, having the iPad /cash register default to an 18% tip for a counter order is presumptuous.

I could have loved the Thanksgiving something-or-other sandwich I had if it had been better seasoned. Conceptually, it was awesome - cranberry sauce, stuffing, fresh turkey, all on yummy foccacia. But it just didn't have a lot of flavor, which was disappointing. Nice spot, friendly service - maybe some of the other selections are better executed.

Great quality food, feels light. Ordered: The Globber - turkey sandwich. The bread was tasty but the turkey lacked a little flavor. Salad and homemade dressing was great. Brownie was rich and strong cocoa flavor. The M&M cookie had a great blend of chewy and crunchy. This place has a lot of potential. I would def give another try if in Boulder.

This little sandwich shop is in a delightful location. We were able to sit on a great outdoor patio while enjoying our sandwiches. My wife and I ordered the Mapleton and the Italian to split. The Mapleton was my favorite of the two sandwiches. A good combination of flavors. The Italian was was my wife's favorite of the two sandwiches. The bread, cheese, and olives were great on this selection. My wife also couldn't resist ordering a cookie. She ordered a snicker doodle and everyone at the table enjoyed a piece of it. Overall this sandwich shop was good but fairly pricey. I would like to come back to try other selections.

We ordered box lunches from here for a recent meeting. It is a nice little deal where you get izze sodas, chips, a pickle, cookies, and either a sandwich or salad. The sandwiches all looked good, the pickles were yummy but the chips were stale. My salmon ceasar was mediocre. I guess the salad was fine, but the dressing was so think I had trouble spreading it around. Also, I wish they had mentioned that it would be smoked salmon. I love cooked salmon on a salad but do not like smoked salmon so that was disappointing. I was quite happy that they gave me a gluten free cookie though!

Dish is a place you can't miss if you're in Boulder and it will quickly become your go-to place. You can't get more fresh and creative sandwiches anywhere around. The bread is fresh baked, the turkey roasted on site, etc.. The sandwiches are creative and were obviously designed by someone who knows what they are doing. One look at their cold case and you'll also be taking home dinner. Gotta also try their catering. Can't be beat if you're having an event....

Dish's sandwiches and soups are good. However, it is a pricey sandwich and not much bang for the buck. The seared ahi tuna sandwich has the equivalent of a pinky size (and color) of meat chopped into four pieces and buried in ciabatta with fresh, but bland sauce (sorry for that visual). Also, negative one star for having non-acidic pickles. Crisp, acidic pickles go with sandwiches, not fresh, non-aged cucumbers. There are two things that food snobs have no ground to stand on in my book: weak pickles and talking about beer like it is wine.

Dish is testament to the saying "SOQNOP" . For those of you who didn't read business books during the 90s that means Sell on Quality, Not on Price" We went to Dish today for the second or third time and it was better than ever. Everything was fresh, delicious and as others have noted made there that day. My cornmeal crusted catfish was a great blend of flavors and textures. It's not too often that you can get through a big bowl of tomato bisque and not be tired of it by the time you're done. Don't go if you're looking for fast, cheap, quiet, or comfortable seating. Go if you want to eat great food, well prepared, with care.

I found another place that I can keep going back to in Boulder! Dish is awesome because of their fresh food made from scratch (and you can really taste it) and everything is tasty. Their large selection of sandwiches, deli side dishes and their soup of the day are all very well thought out. Their French Chocolate Cookie (I think it was called...) was really good with a gooey, chocolaty center inside. I think I'm going to be one of their regulars now. It's that kind of a place. Easy going, fresh and their yummy un-boring choices are what's going to make me want to keep going back.

2012 Review #264: went to an event catered by dish, and here's what we had: Antipasti and cheese platter- fine. Sort of wet. Unremarkable. Chicken piccata- very overdone pasta. Chicken was not too dry. Seasoned adequately. Lemon bars- not very lemony. Very thick pastry. Cookies and brownies- dry, crumbly. Flavors were fine. Fruit and noosa yogurt- best item of the evening. Staff- friendly, kind; and accommodating. I see quite a line at the Dish restaurant and have wanted to go in but honestly this event will probably make me wait a bit. OK but nothing remarkable.

The Ruben. Get. The. Ruben. I had guests in from the south. They were saying how they had the best slow cooked meats and stopped talking after taking a bite of The Ruben. The. Ruben. Also: their gluten free bread is absolutely fantastic. Fresh, local food cooked well by a staff that is treated well. My go to spot for lunch when I have some time to sit on their patio.

I had a tasty "Blat" on foccacia - a BLT with avocado that was crunchy and savory and came with chips and a pickle. I liked the vibe here too, locally sourced ingredients, some artisanal foodstuffs for sale at the entrance, and friendly workers. Would happily come back to try a different sandwich or something sweet.

I'm a big salad person and this place has GREAT salads. I've only had 2 so far, but always happy. I've gotten the Bloody Good Salad a few times, and it's definitely yummy. But today I had the Mediterranean Salad and - OMG - that was downright AMAZING. I love salads with lots of "stuff" in them, which Meds usually don't have a ton of. But this one was JUST DELICIOUS. I basically licked the to-go box. I'm sure the rest of their food is amazing. As soon as you walk in, they have delicious-looking entree & side items behind a glass deli-style counter, all of which i will eventually try someday....

I'm surprised there are only 8 reviews. Dish is the best sandwich in Boulder, hands down. Think it's pricey? The standard price for lunch anywhere in town seems to be around $9, unless you are still eating Happy Meals. For less than $10, you'll get the best, freshest possible ingredients; handmade to your specifications. Show up at the stroke of noon, and seating might be an issue. Wait, it's worth it. Many drive across town to eat here regularly.

Delicious. Absolutely delicious. I totally agree with a previous review that if you're looking for great pastrami like from Katz's Deli, GIVE UP. But if you're in the mood for a great range of sandwiches and sides. I've had several of their sandwiches and no disappointments. It's a bit pricey for me (I'm a cheapskate), but their sandwiches are big. Big as in I just had half for lunch and then the other half for dinner. True story. Well, I guess that justifies spending about $10 for a sandwich and side.

This place was hit-or-miss. Met a friend for lunch and had a few minutes before he arrived to check out the menu. Everything sounded amazing. Figured I'd grab 2 extra sandwiches to go for that night's dinner. Ordered the ahi tuna sandwich, the smoked salmon and the one with Italian meats. Upgraded the sides on each one. Sandwiches were okay, nothing great. the sides were all good(orzo, pasta salad) Prices would have been justified if what I ordered tasted better. My friend agreed as did my husband that night. We were both surprised to see $1.25 cupcakes and each got one. Not good at all. My frosting was so icky, I took most of it off.

As promised, I returned to Dish to sample some sandwiches off their gigantic, supposedly-awesome sandwich menu. Gigantic? Indeed. Awesome? I wouldn't say that. Creative, yes. Something-for-everyone, yes. Look at this menu and your eyes will glaze over. I managed to zero in on the Mahalo, which contained seared ahi tuna, cucumber, wasabi mayo, and some greens, all on a baguette. (Dan was like, "I knew you'd choose that one - it was obvious." Yes it was. Show me seared fish on a sandwich and it's over.) The fillings were good, if paltry. The bread, however, was sitting-out-all-day stale. It was tough to get my teeth halfway through. I ended up eating it open face but it was still like eating yummy spicy fish on reinforced cardboard. So I figured, maybe it's just the baguette. I was going to the pool a few days later and I needed a sandwich to bring, so I stopped at Dish again and ordered the Gobbler, a turkey-bacon-avocado-muenster monster on ciabatta that promised to fill me up. Fill me up it did. With another loaf of cold, stale, bread. Again, the fillings were all right, but nothing special. At $9+ per sandwich, I feel like I'd better be blown away, and better not be served stale bread. It should be coming out of the oven, pillowy and with steam rising invitingly from it, for that price.

Because of your reviews and my original preview of Dish's food at a catered luncheon last year, I put it on my list of restaurants to try. So I went in today for lunch. Chef-prepared food, locally grown, mostly organic, and affordable? Yes, absolutely. What's a superlative word for "beyond excellent" that I haven't already used in my oft-repetitive reviews? Whatever that word is, it is my word for Dish. For right around $10 total you can get a gourmet sandwich, with either chips or a small salad which was actually not so small. Good spinach salad. Eclectic and original selection of artisan cheeses. Highest quality house-roasted meats. Everything so fresh, including the Ciabatta bread. Tasty salad dressings. Even the iced tea from a pitcher was unique, fresh, and potent. There is also a deli case with lots of yummy looking food in it. And remember, they do cater. With their excellent food and wide array of choices and reasonable prices, I'm sure catering would be a win/win proposition.

Last week, on an extremely hung over Friday morning (noon), I woke up and burped something that smelled like whiskey mixed with a 3-in-the-morning burrito. It was then and there that I decided to go on a detoxifying hike and get some food. After my hike I met up with some friends at Dish for a late lunch, and was completely blown away with Dish's lengthy/eclectic menu. Everything (including the stuff in the display case) looked so delicious that I had a really hard time picking a meal. After about 7 minutes of hard debate I finally chose the tarragon chicken salad sandwich with a side of white bean asparagus salad and artichoke heart quinoa. The chicken salad was a little dry for my taste, although a healthy portion of dijon mustard served as a nice remedy. The tarragon made a nice addition to the chicken salad, although I wish the flavor was a bit more pronounced. The real star in the dish was the delicious bacon, which completely stole the show. The sides were also very tasty, and did a fantastic job absorbing whatever booze still lingered in my poor stomach. The only item I didn't particularly enjoy was the pickle, which tasted more like a slightly spoiled cucumber than an actual pickle... Having grown up in Israel I think I know what good kosher pickles should taste like. Overall, I give Dish 3 stars for the food, but have to give them an extra star for the ambiance, creative menu, and fresh/local ingredients. I will most likely be back whenever I crave a tasty sandwich... I really want to try their BLAT!

Meh. Overrated and overpriced. I've tried really hard to like this place but the few times I've been it's disappointing. As some other said, the bread was a bit hard and the flavors were just a bit bland. That's not all that bad but this places makes you feel like you're about to get blown away. Especially after you see you receipt...

I really liked the concept of this place, locally sourced ingredients, healthy sounding menu, but as far as the execution? It left all my expectations crushed. I am a huge proponent of the slow food movement, but this is far from that, this is more like they took quality locally sourced ingredients & butchered it, nothing spoke out, & all the quality was wasted. The in house roasted pork in the Cuban sandwich was dry & flavorless, the Roast Turkey was over done, dry and unseasoned, the prosciutto was barely there, the breads were all stale. The side dishes were flavorless. If I could honestly have a better sandwich at subway what's the point?? Who cares if it's locally sourced provisions if you dont know how to cook it anyhow. Usually when I see a restaurant named something like dish, spoon etc, I run, boy I regret not doing it this time. Menu tricked me, I hope this doesn't happen to you.

I had the Reuben and it was SOOO good. There twist on the classic sandwich replaces rye bread and swiss with pumpernickel and emmental cheese. It was the perfect combination of savory, sweet and creamy. I'll definitely be back for more. This place is kinda small and was pretty busy when I came in (during the lunch rush). But my order came out in under 10 minutes, so I was pretty happy with the service.

I LOVE DISH!!! Before moving back to California, I used to go to Dish at least once a week- a little embarrassing but I didn't care! Unfortunately, I worked right down the street and was able to hop on over, even risking my life on extremely icy sidewalks through the winter! Anyways, onto the important stuff- Dish is amazing. The ingredients are wholesome, natural and healthy. So despite visiting so often, it was comforting to know I that what I was eating was healthy. I am a particular fan of their risotto cakes- just the right size and they taste amazing. Their garlic green beans are so good that I spent a considerable amount of time trying to exactly replicate the recipe at home (I now cook them at least once/week). Lastly, the COOKIES! Holy cow, I would die for those cookies! Especially the m&m ones. I would always bring some back to my coworkers- we were all huge fans! By far the best cookies in Boulder! My mouth waters just thinking of them and unfortunately now I live too far to be able to fill my fix! Lastly, the service is wonderful. The girl behind the counter (now I forget her name- I'm so bad with names!) was always so sweet and genuine I would visit so often she had come to know my name. The next time I'm in Boulder, Dish is the first stop I will make!

Easy going, fresh and their yummy un-boring choices are what's going to make me want to keep going back.

simple, yet somehow inviting and layers of complicity.... I just love dish! simply the best chicken salad sandwich in town!

I was pretty blown away by both of the sandwiches I tried here. The Thanksgiving sandwich really did taste like Thanksgiving dinner, and you might think that it's a bad idea to put stuffing on a sandwich, but you're wrong. At least they managed to pull it off. I had the BBQ brisket sandwich and as soon as I bit into it Brisket, barbecue sauce and cheese started flying out and I thought, wow, this a really good sandwich. Then I thought out loud, "Of course I ordered this, I'm wearing a solid white shirt." But somehow I was able to keep all of the delicious things falling out of that sandwich away from the shirt. Most of their sides looked like you could make a meal of them alone. I had a side of chick pea salad and it filled with lemon and herbs and probably had 15 different ingredients in it. One thing that's interesting is how large the menu is in relation to the size of the dining room. But there is a decent bit of outdoor seating as well.

I stopped into Dish Gourmet today after a relaxing massage at Twig Salon and Spa for Hawt on Yelp week. I've passed this place several times in my Boulder jaunts and always found it appealing - very small, maybe 6 or 7 tables, but a very inviting food counter and seemingly endless sandwich selections. I especially like that all their meat comes from independent Colorado farms, so you can feel good while you're noshing. There's a little merch section too, where you can buy things like tshirts, specialty popcorn, and sauces and stuff if I remember right. I'm a sucker for Thanksgiving sandwiches - you know, turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. This one was accompanied with a small side of gravy, chips, and a fresh, delicious pickle. I don't normally like my sandwiches in ciabatta bread, but the bread still tasted fresh even late in the day. The only thing I would have changed was the cranberry sauce - while flavorful, I like mine a bit on the sweeter side so you get sweet and savory mixing together. I shared a garbanzo bean salad, and that topped with a tea just made the perfect little meal. Glad I finally stopped in. I'm a fan!

Yummo is all I can say about this place. I can't wait to go back and when I do, I may bump it up to five stars, but right now Dish is a very solid four. I went with friends on Saturday and we all really liked what we got. I had the Chook which was chicken, mozzarella, pesto, and maybe a few other delicious things on ciabatta. OMG it was good, and huge, so I didn't mind that it was almost ten bucks because had I actually eaten the leftovers I would have gotten two meals out of it. It is such a cute little place and everything looked really delicious!!

As I write this review, I regret to remember that I no longer live in Boulder, but whenever I make it back, my first stop is Dish. The gourment deli, that is conveniently tucked away on the east end of Pearl Street, boasts quality artisan and local ingredients. Every sandwich I've tried is indulgent and affordable - though I'm quite smitten with The Piglet (you are what you eat?). Some of my favorite memories of Boulder are stopping by Dish for some sandwiches before setting out on a hike in Chautauqua.

Alright, A+ for food: high quality, thoughtfully prepared, interesting combos, tastes good, and all that. Plain and simple, the food is delicious and keeps you coming back because of the originality and taste. What doesn't keep me coming back is the portion size! Too big! What the heck?! If I leave a restaurant completely full and not even wanting to look at my plate because I received a too large portion, I might not want to go back. I received too much food because the woman taking my order didn't get it right, and brought me out two sides instead of one. That's my other beef - snarky, uppity service. It's an order up front and wait at your table kind of place, and you can see the employees behind the counter carry on person conversations, when they really should be paying attention to the floor, getting my order right, cleaning off tables, making sure the restroom was stocked (which it wasn't), emptying the bus bins, etc. None of which happened while we were there. Anyway, so the ambiance/service was sub-par. But if you're looking for a food purveyor that respects the source of its food (as local and organic as possible), creates ingenious food combinations that taste good, for a pretty good price, come here. It's really really tasty.

I am a sucker for a cute sandwich shop with a chalkboard menu. There's something about reading the cleanly printed delicious sounding descriptions of 20 different sandwiches that starts me off on a drool fest. Adding to the visual appeal was the open kitchen viewing from the sidewalk. It speaks volume to freshness and cleanliness when places lay it all on on display. After all the eye candy this place was offering, I hoped it was not all too good to be true. And it was not! The sandwich was good! I ordered the Gobbler which is turkey, bacon, avo with a flavored mayo, lettuce, tomato, and a thin slice of munster cheese on their foccica. The turkey meat needed a little salt but the other ingredients were there to help the overall flavor. I upgraded my order with a serving of their green been salad. The girls taking orders and bringing out the sandwiches were bright and friendly. The simple decor and limited seating worked well for the place. I would definitely go to Dish Gourmet again - and next time it will be for their Italian or Cuban!!

A step or two above typical sandwich joints. 4.5 stars really. They use real turkey meat instead of sliced processed. Nice.

Insane. Love the small-feel, home-cooked, fresh ambiance. Love to sit outside. They might need more seating out there.... I love this place. The sandwiches are fantastic. The Boulder BBQ brisket will rock your world.

One of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. Amazing cucumber salad. Homemade potato chips. Great ambience. Awesome array of prepared foods in the refrigerator. I got the Reuben and it's like no other Reuben I've ever eaten. Pricey, though.

After awful (no) service at Cured, we walked over to Dish. A shop we've enjoyed for years. Service was ok, but timely given the crowd and our food was great. The "Chook" was a perfect sandwich for today. I look forward to trying it again soon. Biggest complaint about Dish is the tight space and limited outside seating.

My company has used them for catering boxed lunches for a few years. They need more competition. Customer service is lacking; it feels like they're doing us a favor by honoring our order IF it is placed 48 hours in advance. They will not deliver if there isn't at least 48hrs advance notice. Another thing, If you're using lox (smoked/raw salmon) on your salads, CALL IT SUCH. There is nothing appetizing about being surprised by raw fish on your salad when you're not prepared for it and expecting cooked salmon (Salad boxed lunch w/ raw salmon was $17). Also, I like good lox, especially after living in NYC for the past several years before moving here, but the last few times we've used them, the lox on my sandwich has been fishy, and other colleagues complained about the food being mediocre compared to past experiences, and I concur.

delicious sandwiches. i go here at least once a week. i tend to always get one of two sandwiches and they're always consistently great. their soup is amazing - i've had it once - as are their sides. the various quinoa sides are my favorite. their sandwiches are huge, however i always will usually save half for later or you can simply order 1/2 sandwich, which i do often. i highly recommend this place!

All of their food is top notch, but I've recently been extremely impressed with their Piglet samich. Not normally a huge ham fan, but still a lover of all things pig, their Long Farm ham is awesomo! So soft, so tender, so supple. Ciabatta is also not my first bread choice, and the piglet rides upon one that makes this thing oh so tasty. I'll be a regular just for this menu selection.

I'm going to go with four stars, though I think my husband would go with three. We both loved the peppermint brownie we got here (that was 5-star worthy for sure!) but our sandwiches were just OK. They were, however, HUGE... But honestly I'd rather have something that tastes really, really incredible than something that's huge. Anyway, I liked my sandwich (The Tuscan) and my husband liked his enough (The Halfacre, which he got warm). My husband's main complaint was that there were not enough mushrooms on the sandwich (even though it was supposed to be mainly a mushroom sandwich). We both thought his side of sweet potato salad was really good, though. The pickles they put on the side of the meal were really not all that good. I wanted to love mine, since I generally like homemade-ish pickles, but it was weird-tasting & not good. I hate throwing away food, but I did throw away my pickle :(. Anyway, I really want to try the Caprese sandwich here (since I'm a big fan of Caprese sandwiches elsewhere) and I could probably convince my husband to go back, even if all he gets is a brownie. We'll probably re-visit on another trip to Boulder, and would recommend checking this place out... Especially for baked goods!

All my co-workers loved it, which is great. But vegan me? I ordered the Aubergine without cheese, but alas, the artichoke spread (which in my tired, travel-worn state, I neglected to ask about) has about two pounds of Parmesan (or similar cheese) per sandwich in it. Okay, not really, but I tend to feel like I've been terribly violated when I put something in my mouth only to discover it has animals involved. I ended up butchering the bread to remove the offending spread, maiming my sandwich, and living with it. Not happy, but damn, when you're tired and hungry (and already labeled as 'cranky vegan bitch') you don't want to make more stink sometimes. Or at least I didn't. Everyone else (the locals and those who had visited a few times) were still belting the gospel of Dish, so I decided to give it another go. The next day I had the portobello one (I think it's called the 'half-acre') altered accordingly. Wasn't anything to write home about, really soggy. At least the Izze was good, the chips too as long as you aren't afraid of a see-thru bag.

    * Star one is for their large selection of mouth watering goodies ** Star two is for their healthy selection of mouth watering goodies *** The third star is for representing tons of local Colorado food suppliers **** Our fourth star is for its cute central location (Star five was taken away due to hard-to-find parking and limited seating options) Dish Gourmet is located on Boulder's popular Pearl street and is a great small eatery that offers salads and sandwiches, as well as prepared gourmet goodies like seafood enchiladas, BBQ ribs, and homemade gnocchi with bolognese sauce as well as other mouth watering yummies. You never see this place empty and it is the perfect location to stop by for a lunch or dunch by yourself or with a friend. This is also an ideal spot to pick up appetizers such as cured meats, olives and cheeses. I came here with my pregnant friend not too long ago and she was out of control... Ordering cupcakes before her meal even arrived, (*gasp) and lacking eye contact due to her longing look at the cold cut case. If the service was not as fast as it was, I am sure she would have torn the place down! Strategy: This place is small, and with hardly any seats. It is one of those kinds of places that you notice one table as soon as you walk in, so you put your coat and your water bottle on the table so nobody else takes it. Avoid this drama and go during off-beak lunch hours. You know, 1:00-3:00pm.

I stumbled along Dish one day while walking along Pearl St. and couldn't have been more grateful. Dish serves gourmet type sandwiches but with a casual atmosphere. My personal favorites are the East End, the Gobbler and the Chook. All of the sides in the display case are also delicious!!

Best Italian Sandwich in Boulder. Period. I don't stray. At first, i was attracted to the pastrami, because i'm always looking for the "perfect pastrami sandwich", something comparable to Katz's Deli in Manhattan. But i've come to realize it doesn't exist. Katz's is one of a kind. But the Italian here... damn son. It's too good. Homemade mozzarella... ask for roasted red peppers as something special. Plus, they usually have some sort of bean dish on the side that you can order. Beans are high in fiber. Good for cholesterol. And they make the beans good. Word.

You'll find a happy staff, sandwiches with attitude and a menu that incorporates all sorts of interesting and delicious ingredients, many from local sources. A variety of fab salads to choose from if you're not in the mood for a sandwich - beet and arugula, garbanzo bean, quinoa. My chicken salad sandwich the other day was simple and dreamy.

This is more like a 2.5, rounded down to a 2. Dish Gourmet's little sandwich shop has a nice ambiance - it seems fresh and hip, and, from the chalkboard menu to the cozy size, it makes you think you're getting a nice, simple homemade meal. It gets really crowded, but there's some extra seating outside. While my recent experience there wasn't bad, it, unfortunately, wasn't great either. We ordered the Italian and the Mapleton sandwiches. Both were adequate, but nothing great. The Italian tasted a little too heavily of olives and otherwise had a bland flavor profile, while the Mapleton was a little more standard, as sandwiches go. There's honestly not too much to say about them, which makes me think that their greater than $10 prices tags were far too high. We also upgraded one of the sides, substituting a cold hominy dish for the usual potato chips. That was a mistake. The hominy was awful - cold, hard, flavorless and unappetizing. We complained, and they offered us a different dish of our choice. We chose the nigh-impossible-to-fuck-up mac and cheese, which was good but unexciting, since it was just comprised of penne pasta covered in cheese and reheated in the microwave. Nearly everything hot is just reheated in a microwave. Dish Gourmet falls into that category of restaurants that I will likely never choose to go again, but I wouldn't really mind if someone took me there. It isn't bad, but it isn't very good either, so its prices are unjustified.

There are lots of other places in Boulder to get a decent sandwich, hero, sub, whatever...but if you want a damn tasty gourmet sammich, goto Dish. Yeah, I've been waiting to use "sammich" in a Yelp review, cause I understand that's what kids these days call a tasty sandwich with that extra special something, ya know, goodness, lovin', or care. I believe Dish has no equal here in Boulder in the art of stacking fine gourmet edibles between ciabatta or some other fresh delicious bread. This is tasty tasty comfort food - all the best ingredients - fine cured meats, house-roasted meats & veggies, fancy speads, made fresh to order. Amazing variety of sides for a small place like this. So I read that Dish's Chef Brian was CIA-trained (Hyde Park, NY) and originally from the east coast. Shit yeah, that's the guy whose sandwichs I wanna eat! So I'm gonna add some pics of these sammich creations soon, so you can see what you're missing. Bad news? Well, Dish has been popular for a while and is often busy; there's only seating for about 16 inside the place. And a meal will run ya $9-10, w/o a drink, at least, but portions are mostly generous. Hey, you CANNOT get a sandwich like this anywhere else (around here) - yeah, it's definitely worth it for me. I'll keep working thru their many sandwiches, and if all turns out as well as so far, I'd be looking at adding a star.

The Ruben. Get. The.

Dish is cute (and tiny) cafe on East Pearl street, with 2 tables outside and about 8 small tables inside. They specialize is tasty sandwiches and salads which are written on a large chalkboard in colorful chalk hanging on the wall above the food prep area. My favorite is chicken salad. With your sandwich order you automatically get chips, or for a buck you can add yummy sides like green beans. Inside the glass case they have delicious homemade breakfast menu items, sides and other treats. I really like dish on a warm day so I can sit outside at the shaded tables and watch the pearl street traffic in the breeze. When I'm in a hurry, they have 15 minute parking out front so it is easy to run in, get a sandwich made quickly (they are awesome about that) and dash out. Dish is just all around pleasant like that.

Nice.

Meh. Overrated and overpriced. I've tried really hard to like this place but the few times I've been it's disappointing. As some other said, the bread was a bit hard and the flavors were just a bit bland. That's not all that bad but this places makes you feel like you're about to get blown away. Especially after you see you receipt...

First time here. extensive sandwich menu. I ordered the Good Salad. Decent amount of ham/bacon and a nice vinaigrette on the side. Nice bright and clean restaurant If there was more bacon/ham, they would receive 5 stars

Word.

Any sandwich shop ballsy enough to put pate on their creations has me hooked. Their egg salad is to die for, and I am not one to pay for something that I can easily make at home, but there it is. I am in love.

I'm a fan!

The Ruben. Get. The.

Put together a great las-minute catering order for us! The food is really good quality and their sandwiches are tasty! Love the side options they have too...the sesame snap peas and couscous were good!
