So this is my first review...... I've been going to Cakes by Karen for a number of years to buy custom made large sheet cakes for my office. A number of times a year during special occasions (Valentines, 4th of July, Xmas, New Years), I order the largest sheet cakes they sell and that I could find to deliver to the office. They're huge - 2ft x 3ft. - that's why I get them delivered (for a small fee). First let's talk about what makes a good cake - Freshness is probably the most important. Moist cake seems to be important too. The frosting needs to be thick from a application perspective (everybody loves frosting), but not too dense to overpower the cake and not too sweet that it gives you a sugar rush after the first bite. Why I love Karen's cakes, is that they are always delivered on time, they are always fresh, the frosting compliments the cake and for an added treat. these cakes have two layers so that you can get a layer of frosting or cream filling in the middle. Since I love chocolate cake, I usually order chocolate cake with Bavarian cream filling topped with a Cream cheese or chocolate frosting. We just had their spice cake with cream cheese frosting and it was amazing too. There Lemon Poppy is tasty. For a personal touch, you can bring in a photo and they can reproduce the image on the cake in edible frosting. hmmmm. I've never done it, but imagine putting a company logo, a Buff's logo or your favorite teen idol or hero on top. Anyway, I think Karen and her team do a great job. If you want something fresh, traditional and need it delivered... this is the place. Until my next cake adventure...... Burp! Check out.....
