We wanted a place to celebrate an early Mother's Day on a Saturday night. The place was pretty crowded but we were able to secure a reservation that afternoon for the same evening. I give the food five stars--the rib eye special was so tender that I wanted to wrap myself in its medium rare juices and the smoked mashed potatoes was a different yet tasty addition to the dish, but I reserve a star for the slowness of the food arrival (we waited about 45 minutes for our food after ordering) and no one came by to apologize for the delay (not that it was the server's fault at all but sometimes that kind of attentiveness is expected at a place like this) or to ask if we needed anything while we waited. Great special occasion place if you're taking your time with the meal.

Just ok as far as the food goes. It was recommended I try their ribs when I was there for Happy Hour. The waitress suggested getting the rib dinner because it was only a few dollars more for more food. Well, I was totally under whelmed by the ribs, the quantity of them and everything else was only so-so. Service was good though and the drinks are too. Prices, $$$.

The food and wine were excellent, the service was not so great. Our waiter Ethan was very nice however really slow and brought out the wrong beverage, which was quickly corrected. I would go here again.

Always a good choice, the Boulder Cork always delivers in style and taste. Top quality foods and the best meats in town.

This place is pricey, but has a good happy hour and friendly service. I was there the other day to celebrate my dad's birthday and we had a really friendly waiter named Lionel- he was great! So it's worth the dishing out the extra bucks every once and a while. Definitely not many selections for vegetarians and vegans but they were accommodating for my and created a meal from their sides and it was great.

A friend and I went to the Boulder Cork tonight for my birthday. I had never been, but decided to try it as I had a certificate for my birthday. I was very impressed! We enjoyed a leisurely dinner with great service. Our Server was Bonnie, and I would highly recommend her! She was funny, personable, and provided great service. The food was equally great. I ordered a filet with a side salad, and my friend ordered a burger with a salad. The salads were fresh and tasted great. My filet was so tender, hot, and flavorful. My friend loved her burger, and said it was one of the best she has ever had. To wrap it all up, Bonnie arrived at the table with a special birthday treat...the most delicious coffee ice cream cake piece. I never knew I loved coffee ice cream until tonight...complete with whipped cream, shaved almonds, chocolate gooey yummy-ness! I can't wait for my next visit back to the Boulder Cork!

4.5 It was quite a pleasant lunch I had here the other day. I had eaten dinner at this same establishment many years ago when it was known as the Cork and Cleaver, with my husband and children, and hadn't been very impressed. So I hadn't been back since then. Until a few days ago. Lunch patrons were seated mostly in booths by the window on the north edge of the bar, or outside on a shady patio. Groups of businesspeople mostly, and me. A young lady came in with a carrying case and started putting little plastic-encased announcements on the tables. She was going to be giving out free samples of the Cointreau Kiss, a mixture of Cointreau and iced tea. Since I don't drink she gave me a nice little Cointreau cup, which I will give to a relative who collects such memorabilia. It is bright silver and orange, quite cheery. So there was all that hubbub. Our waiter Lionel was the perfect professional. I enjoyed the entree salad with salmon. I'm not much in the mood to go into a detailed description. Suffice it to say that it was generous in portion, healthy, lowfat, and delicious. The lunch menu is an affordable way to try items that are undoubtedly more expensive when dinnertime rolls around. They feature a few $7.95 specials each day at lunch. I liked the friendliness and comfort and excellent food. And all the people around me were enjoying their complementary Cointreau kisses. Somehow I slightly visualized a perfectly wild Yelp event taking place here. I could just totally see it!

I'm a big Boulder Cork fan. I love the location (on my route) and the service, food, ambiance is warm and welcoming. The bar can be noisy but it's just a good happy hour aura and the drinks are good (ergo, the "happy"). The staff does a good job of keeping up with the crowds and remaining friendly under stress! I've often gone there for special occasions like birthdays, holidays, etc. I can't say I've ever had a "bad" meal there - I prefer steaks and have been pretty happy with how they are prepared and served, and I think the cost is reasonable. I do wish they would change up the bar menu from time to time though..."same old, same old" can get "old" after a while. Oh, and I love that it's locally owned and has Boulder history.

What a disappointment... Uninspired food and perfunctory if not neglectful service all for $100. We stopped in Saturday night without a reservation and wound up in the lounge. No problem so far. Took a little too long to place our order. I asked my girl "should I be annoyed yet?" Not yet she says. I like to check with my more tolerant and patient partner before jumping to conclusions. Finally order. King crab, artichoke, and mushrooms. Artichoke comes first. Room temperature and not what you would call "meaty". Crab next, pretty yummy and the savior of the night. Mushrooms undercooked and just plain Zzzzzzzzzz How about coffee? Yes, please. Cream? Yes please. Here you go. Hmmm... No spoons on the table... Try to get waiters attention or just stir the thing with the fork handle. Fork it is. $100?

We went for a special occasion, and between the 6 of us we tried the majority of items on the rather small menu. Our waitress was rude and socially awkward, and she didn't know the menu or the specials. The bread was ice cold and butter frozen. The "seafood chowder special with scallops" looked more like a weird minestrone that didn't have a single piece of fish and was loaded with potatoes. The ribs were also subpar and overpriced. The burgers were pretty good but not worth the price Overall it was an overpriced experience in a dated atmoshere (a cheap mexican restaurant could move in overnight and fit right in). Felt too snobby for the quality and atmosphere. Better of going elsewhere

I'll be honest--the popularity of the Cork completely escapes me. It's in an ugly area, as Boulder goes (is that it--the area and the inertia? Just 'cause there isn't much else around?), and nothing there ever made me wanna go back for it. We brought a coupon that was advertised in the Daily Camera on line. A freaked out manager came out and told us they wouldn't accept a printer-generated coupon (I've NEVER run into this problem before or since anywhere else). I told her it was an issue between the restaurant and the newspaper if they didn't want the coupons to be published on line. She argued with me for a while, and then told me she'd accept the coupon. So--what exactly was the reason for irritating me if she was gonna take the coupon anyway? The only point she made was how much I wasn't going back to her restaurant. Anyway, the food didn't exactly rock my world, though the price (with the coupon-he he) was about right.

The Cork is tops if you're a meat lover. Steaks are always, always perfectly cooked and nice cuts. And service is typically attentive at the right times and fades into the background when appropriate. We come here for good food, an atmosphere that isn't rushed and wait staff that lets you sit a spell and chat between courses. The last time we visited, however, was not what we've come to expect. Granted, it was Valentine's day so we gave the delays in ordering and arrival a free pass. The problems were with the bartending and the food. The clam chowder was inedible and contained something that felt/tasted rotten in my mouth. They also served me the worst dirty martini I've ever tasted....seemed about half olive juice...maybe there was an untrained bartender filling in to handle the crowd? We'll definitely go back. Really, this place is usually pretty good.

Actual score: 2.5 stars I have been there once, and had a mixed experience: I ordered steak(of course!), with 2 sides: roasted vegetables and balsamic sauce and roasted potatoes. The steak was a NY strip cut, and had a great minerally richness that could only be attributed to grass-fed, dry-aged beef. However, I ordered it medium-rare and it was more like medium to medium-well, not so hot when you're paying the top notch bucks for a fine steak. On top of that, it had a wicked char on it and those charred flavors overwhelmed the flavor of the beef. The vegetables and potatoes were fine but seemed carelessly thrown together. We ordered wine as well and I wasn't impressed with their selection. All in all decent, but not at this price point.

Where's the dollar menu? Ha ha. Food and service are always great, but the drink prices are ridiculous. C'mon, get real. We all know how much a bottle of gin costs. Of course you have to pay for the staff and atmosphere, etc., but this is bordering on greed. Anyway, a special occasion destination because of that. The ample lot parking is a plus.

This had the worst steak I have ever had. well not quite the worst but 2nd worst in Boulder which for a so called steak house is really bad! The baseball cut sirloin promised to be flavorful and tender it was tough and bland! The wine list was ok The service was boring Overall I would definitely skip it!

  • Tim R.

Great staff, wonderful service. The wine list is top notch, and the wine by the bottle prices are pretty good as well. The steaks were amazing, perfectly cooked and the side dishes were done well too. I highly recommend the Boulder Cork

1st time at BC. Great happy hour and the prime rib sliders and enchilada were great. Nice casual local vibe away from all the tourists on Pearl St. Great bar staff. I will be back!

Another happy hour extravaganza! I have only been for happy hour but I keep coming back so that means something is working! The happy hour food menu is delicious (try the blue cheese waffle fries) and the drink selection is incredible. The service is great, although one time it was lacking hence the four stars. I love coming here after work for a quick happy hour meeting, it is not as rambunctious as some other happy hour spots meaning I can have a glass of wine, some great food, be tucked away in a booth and still get some late night meetings taken care of with coworkers.

Sizzler meets Denny's! Wow, I am shocked looking at some of the reviews. This place stinks! Food was really bad, drinks were bad, service was so-so. For what you got, price was WAY too high. If your kids like Kraft Mac and Cheese, then maybe this is the place for you, but if I am paying those prices, I would expect something homemade.

I worked here for ten years and have a lot of respect for the pros that run this place. I would eat here any time I'm in Boulder, and often do! - On any given Saturday you'll see the head chef or the sous chef at the Farmer's Market, picking up the ingredients for the specials that weekend - They have their own herb garden in the back- it's amazing! - The owner and GM are very knowledgeable and passionate about wine, so have some fun selections that you don't find everywhere. - they are known for their Prime Rib - portions are LARGE, and my husband says it's excellent (I'm veg) - - There's always veg-friendly options on the menu or they will modify something to make it veg. - the outside patio is great in the summertime, you're surrounded by flowers but can still see the Flatirons well enough to watch the sun set....gotta love CO for that! Ask for Curtis if he's still working there- he will make you feel like you are his only table and the most important people in the place. Make a reservation, particularly if you're coming from out of town. Events at the University, like Parent's Weekend, tend to fill the place up quickly and if you don't have college-aged kids there's no way of knowing until you show up and see the parking lot filled!

This place is a local gem! I held my rehersal dinner in a private room in the back for about 40 people last summer. My friends and family were so impressed! Every steak came out perfectly cooked and the fish and vegetarian options were amazing as well. The staff is both professional and full of personality. The Cork is fabulous for both large groups and intimate gatherings. I love this place..and it has stood the test of time!

Cork is for meat lovers. And at these prices, you really have to love meat. While some starters can be found under double digits, the entrees generally exceed $25 and the special (with crab and Bearnaise sauce) was (if I recall correctly) $39. I'd assume that this place is a splurge for most. Service was quite friendly and casual, which was a bit of a surprise in light of the more upscale character of the place. I had mixed feelings about the food. The server reported that the chef obtained tomatoes from the farmers' market earlier that day for a caprese salad. They were fantastic. The salad was a great combination of tomatoes, mozzarella and basil. But I will note that the salad was short on basil, and it's my opinion that the basil leaves should be separated rather than being served as sprigs. And while the vinaigrette was tasty, I think the salad would have been even better with just a quality olive oil, salt and cracked pepper. Speaking of seasoning...I ordered Cork's Pride, a "baseball cut" sirloin. It was a perfect medium-rare and rested just the right amount, but it seemed to have absolutely no seasoning. While I hate to ruin quality meet with too much seasoning, a bit of salt and pepper is appropriate. It would have been helpful since the sirloin was so lean. I was leaning toward a three star review, but the caprese salad bumped it up to four.

Great place to eat lunch. Lots of attention to detail on the settings and appearance of everything. I had the ravioli and it was excellent. Portions are appropriate for dessert. My favorite part, not 1 barrel, or so much as a single screaming shithead kid.

Great place, cool atmosphere. I was in town for business, I had dinner at the bar. I wasn't too hungry, so I ended up ordering a pint of Fat Tire and three sliders with fries. The sliders, I am told, are only available at the bar, and are a great way to get a sampling of the menu at a low price. The food came out quickly, the short rib slider was really tasty, had to be eaten with a fork, the buffalo burger slider was perfectly cooked and flavorful, and the prime rib slider was over the top good, almost wish i had ordered 3 of them. Juicy tender meat with horseradish sauce, perfect. The fries were crispy, I would say above average. The atmosphere l seemed more formal in the dining room, but casual was fine at the bar, I liked it. There were clearly regulars who loved the place, and the bartender was very friendly and charismatic. He knew his wine and his scotch very well. Seems like a nice place to watch a ball game. Great overall experience, I was very impressed, I would definitely return if I'm ever in the area again, to try one of their steak entrees.

I have been to the Cork twice now; and both time I have been thoroughly impressed with the steak. They have a special steak, called the Baseball Cut, which is as tender as a fillet Mignon but almost twice as large. I believe it is their house specialty. Order it medium rare and you are in for a delicious treat! I went here with my dad when he visited in October and the service was average. My whole family came into town for Thanksgiving, and my Dad insisted we go back. Although they were not serving a regular menu on Thanksgiving, I called ahead and they reserved 4 Baseball Cuts for my family. This was awesome and really made the night. Even though they were insanely busy that night, our server was awesome. She took excellent care of us. I had to deduct one half star for ambiance; it is not the darkest/coolest steakhouse feeling you get from other places. It feels slightly like an Italian restaurant for whatever reason. The other half star deduction is for the hostess customer service. We thought my mom left her cell phone here, so I called and left a message to see if it turned up. They tool my info but I did not hear back. I called two days later to check again. After I explained why I was calling, the girl asked if I had already called and then she hung up on me. I had just spent over $300 bucks for dinner, they should have searched every square inch of that f*cking place for the phone. It was a disappointing culmination to the Thanksgiving dinner experience. Regardless, The Cork offers the best steak I have experienced so far in Boulder.

Excellent service, cozy, welcoming atmosphere. Smoked fish & baked Brie (unusual breading surrounding the Brie) appetizers were delicious. Great cocktails. Our group ordered steaks & fish. Everyone was completely satisfied. With their own parking lot, The Cork is easy to access. This is a nice place for older patrons because it isn't noisy.

The food is overpriced and the service is mediocre. There is some decent food. The brie appetizer is great, the prime rib is tender and cooked well, and the cork potatoes are simple but tasty. But is it worth the price? Not at all.

Delicious! I think it deserves a 4.5. Having moved from Chicago, the first nice restaurant I wanted to take my cousin to was a steakhouse. Cork was exactly what we were looking for. Great staff, they even told us a joke as we waited for the hostess to show up (at my cousin's request) and seat us. I had a ceasar salad (was ok, I'd go for the caprese next time), and the filet medium. Easily one of the better filets I've ever had comparable to any I've had in Chicago or NYC. Their half sized desserts were delicious too - had the aztec chocolate..yummm. Worth every penny.

We went here for a last minute First Bite Boulder dinner, figuring it would at least be a good deal. Alas, even at the $26 3-course set menu, we thought it was way over priced -- considering the fantastic food that you can get downtown at half the price. The food was fine, but it had the feel of a wedding at a banquet hall. I'm giving it 3 stars because the service was good, the food was fine, and apparently they've been in business for 40 years. My theory is that this was a great restaurant 30 years ago, and the same people just keep going back, despite the ridiculous prices.

I've visited the Cork perhaps once a month for the last 10 years. It's had a few ups and downs; but on a recent visit they brought their "A" game. The Cork is kind of "old Boulder". There are few hipsters here. They stick to "classics" if you will rather than the uber-trendy food some seem to expect in Boulder. I've seen a couple of CU head football coaches, the president of a large bank, and a variety of other community leaders here. The food is consistently good. Great steaks and prime rib. I've never ordered anything else. Our default visit here is eating in the bar. Same menu, plus the bar menu. Get a prime rib sandwich. It's not cheap, but there is a LOT of prime rib, and it's very very good. We tend to take out-of-town visitors here, and they always ask to come back on return visits. Their wait staff are pros, may have been at the Cork for years. They know the menu and the wine list and are happy to oblige special requests. Having a bad day? Visit the Cork and ask for Kelsey; you won't find a more upbeat, professional and fun server in Boulder. Unlike Pearl Street Mall restaurants; you can easily park nearby, and you won't be accosted by panhandlers as you leave. It's been a Boulder favorite for a very long time. Visit and find out why.

I went here for a rehearsal dinner and was not impressed in the least. Having been informed this establishment is considered one of Boulder's fine dining restaurants I want to drop it another star since by that description it's not just average it is just plain out of its league. The fish was not fresh, call me a snobby coast hugger but if you can't do fresh fish don't do it at all. That slashes off about 1/3 of the menu. I should have enjoyed the benefits of a land-locked state while I could, but the server was so convinced as a New Englander I would love their seafood...Yeah... The service took forever and looked overwhelmed. They had one waiter assigned to serving forty people. Whoever's brilliant planning that was, particularly since the restaurant was otherwise pretty empty save for some wine mongers hovering quietly by the bar, should go back to being a waiter for a few days.

Had an excellent experience there for dinner. I had their large 18oz Prime Rib which was cooked to perfection and not overseasoned, so you can still taste the quality of the beef. I would have liked some raw horseradish to accompany the prime rib, but their horseradish sauce worked fine. I also ordered a side of a stuffed chili pepper dish which was awesome. It was full of flavor and not too spicy, so even my fiance enjoyed it. Everyone else thoroughly enjoyed their meals as well, so I would definitely go back.

Until my last visit I've always considered the Cork to offer consistent quality dining. Despite a bad meal recently, I'd still consider the Cork a go-to place for a business lunch or a mature dinner date. One downside is location. The Cork is located in the midst of a parking lot on 30th St. It is removed from other restaurants, hotels or attractions.

I try to be as open-minded about restaurants as possible, as my partner owns one, and I know how difficult it is to run. I take *no* pleasure in writing negative reviews, but it needs to be said that our experience at Boulder Cork last night was through and through awful. The restaurant only had 3 other tables at the time we entered (we had an Open Table reservation), yet we waited nearly 5 minutes at the host/hostess stand at the entrance. All the while, at least two waiters saw us and didn't do anything about it. I finally had to practically yell to someone setting a table that we'd like to be helped. We were greeted by a (I presume) manager who came off as curt at best; some would call him downright rude. We were escorted to our table. Service at this point not bad, though the waiter was overbearing to the point of being a turn-off. We order our food. Our appetizer, lobster ravioli, arrives, and while serving it to us, the waiter drops one of the (paltry 5) small ravioli on the booth seat where we were sitting. He said he'd bring a new one. That should have been a few minutes later -- and quite honestly -- he probably should have simply brought a new order as opposed to *one* ravioli -- but even this took nearly 15 minutes. That's completely unacceptable, especially given the fact that the restaurant was 5% occupied at that point. Also, the lobster ravioli is medicore at best. It has little or no lobster, and the skin is more like that (thick) of a Chinese dumpling. There was absolutely no nuance to the dish. (For a superb lobster ravioli, check out L'Atellier.) Now, it's pouring overhead, and granted I realize the vast majority of this is not their fault -- though the were well aware of the problem and should have fixed it by now -- but rain started leaking from the roof onto our table. The waiter seemed totally unconcerned (he should have notified the manager right away), and slowly moved us to another table. Our food comes. My partner had a peppercorn steak -- massively overpriced at $33 -- which he rated about a 3/10. I had an appreciably better dish (I'd give it about 6/10), their halibut special, but it had very little flavor, and arrived only luke warm. We didn't complain. When the manager did come over -- not to check on us -- but to investigate the leak on our former table (I'm sure he'd known we'd been moved, even if the waiter hadn't told him, since he'd looked our way several times through the night), he said nothing about it -- not even a simple apology. I'm sorry, but that's unacceptable. We got through the rest of the dinner. No apologies from the waiter or manager on the dropped food or the leak. They should have, at a minimum, brought a new ravioli dish, or comped something. We didn't complain; we're not that type of people. However, we left extremely unsatisfied and will not return there again. If you're looking for upscale food (all of the following are far more upscale, priced the same or lower, and have vastly superior food; not to mention have much more impressive and upscale ambiance), I'd suggest Frasca, L'Atellier, or Black Cat. My advice: avoid at all costs. I like to re-iterate that I get no pleasure in writing such a negative review, and maybe they were just having a really off night, but we were dissatisfied every single step of the way -- especially given how overpriced and non-busy it was.

This place is definitely not in the "happening" spot of Boulder, but that is a part of it's charm. The ambiance is warm and inviting and the staff is friendly. If you are looking for a cheap place with an OK meal, you should probably go elsewhere. But if you want to celebrate a special occasion and have the food and atmosphere to match, the Cork easily competes with Del Frisco's found in the DTC. The best part about the Cork is that it's beef is all natural. None of the preservatives or hormones that are found in other steak houses. I am a huge fan of natural products, and this fits the bill. Further, the steak is delicious. Oh, and don't forget the wine and desert. If you skip out on those, you have not truly enjoyed the evening.

I usually go for happy hour and sit in the bar area. This time I decided to get a table and I asked for the early dinner menu, which is a lot less expensive than the regular menu. I ordered the shrimp cocktail app. and I was disappointed that for $12.50, I only got 5 small shrimp. They were overcooked(tough and dry) and had no flavor. I also got the prime rib and a Caesar salad. For $17, it was a nice size of meat and it was really good. The salad was also really good. They are a bit overpriced, in my opinion, but I think that's what people go there for. I still think they have a great happy hour and I will probably only go back for happy hour.

Very good good, especially the Cork Potatoes and their signature salad. Really, the only downside to the place is the price, and even that's forgivable if you consider it a once-in-a-great-while sort of dinner.

My date took me here for the Boulder First Bites week - essentially a $60 meal for a couple at a top notch place. The meal opened with a solid cup of soup, good enough where I would have enjoyed about twice as big a serving. I enjoyed the Prime Rib, it was quite rare and pretty enjoyable. The veggies on the side were good but light. Decent dessert, though I dont really care about dessert with my dinner. Overall: It was a good meal. Even at the discounted price, it seemed pricey. Obviously Im a fella who doesnt spend big on dinner often.... Decent meal but worth the cost??

From the looks of the outside, I didn't expect to see what I found on the inside. The restaurant is very comfy, chill, romantic, and inviting; decor is on target. Wine was delicious and so was the bread and butter (my fav!). I ordered the lamb chops entree (came with two) and wasn't thrilled with it at all. It had tough fat and chewy parts. Mashed potatoes and cream of spinach were very good. Service was mild. She forgot a bring out someones dinner from our table but luckily it was just a sandwich so it arrived fairly quickly. She was a bit aggressive when removing plates from the table or when placing our meat knives on the table. I accordance with the price of the meal, I expect service and quality to be excellent and it just wasn't. I would like to try this place again and order something different to see if my opinion changes.

Without compare, there is no better place to get a steak in Boulder. The steaks here are huge and delicious, tender and pink, and moist enough to make the most fundamentalist vegetarian salivate. Yeah, it'll cost you, but for a special night--or a big meeting--this is one of the best places to go. I took my parents here when they came out to visit, and being big beef eaters, they loved it. But it's more than the tender meat. Everything here is great, from the pasta to the fish to the country bread. They've got a charming rustic atmosphere and a nice out-of-the-way location on 30th Street. It'll cost you, but it's definitely worth the trip.

After a sleepless night and an early morning flight where I was serenaded by screams from a kid in the row behind me, having fits over a 2 hour flight, I checked into the Westin in Westminster and went to the mall to get a meal. Oh hell no, I'm not going to a generic mall restaurant!!! Off I headed to Boulder, about 30 min north. I drove to the area that was recommended to me, but didn't really feel like pub food. My instincts told me there must be some fine dining here, and that is when I came upon Cork. Taking the recommended special of the night, I devoured a 10oz. Fillet Mignon covered in crab and topped with a Bearnaise sauce. This was more red meat than I've had all year. Too much really, as I was soooooo sad that I could not even have the Pink Grapefruit sorbet...something I had only had one other time. My server was gracious enough to get me a taste of the Lemon sorbet when I asked if it was really tart. The 'taste' was several spoonfuls, the most tart of all that I have tasted and more than satisfied my need for dessert. I had to apologize to her for not being able to stuff another thing into me (visions of Mr. Creosote danced in my head). Guzzling down several quarts of water and iced tea didn't help either, but I couldn't stop myself. This was the best H20 I've had in my life!!! The Rocky Mountain Springs are no joke. My advice, split the entree and order dessert! Was my tab over my per diem? Yesireeee Bob. Was it worth it? Absolutely!!! Service here took my rating to a 5.

I have never had a bad experiance at the Cork - Can be a little pricey but so worth it - Hands down my favorite restaurant in Boulder. The menu isn't over burdened with too many choices and the food is always outrageously good - Never a complaint with anything I have had - Ambience is great and the staff is very friendly... Might seem like a "fancy" joint but I have been comfortable eating there directly after a hike (and without a blink of the eye from the staff) - Great Happy Hour toboot - highly recommend :)

A nice little steakhouse. Has a good winelist and decent beer on tap. My steak was cooked perfectly but was under seasoned. The roasted vegetables were very good. Prices were ok for a steakhouse but probably a little high for the quality. I'd go again if I'm ever craving a steak in Boulder.

The cork serves good food, I've only given it two stars because I can get better food at a cheaper price at the Chop House, the Cork's main (only) competitor in town. I just wasn't very impressed with my meal compared to what I get at the Chop House for about 30% less.

The wait staff, atmosphere and food are outstanding! You MUST try the deep fried baked potato.. it is to die for!!!, but don't fill up on it as your meal is as equally yummy. It is on the pricey side for dinner although it is worth every penny! Lunch is very reasonable and an inexpensive way to try this place out. A wonderful date/special occasion restaraunt.

Since I moved to Boulder over 13 years ago, the Boulder Cork has been my favorite restaurant. It doesn't have the view of the Flagstaff House, the contemporary feel of The Kitchen or the good press of Frasca. What it does have is a familiar yet refined feeling. The Cork (& Cleaver) has been around for almost 30-years. It has weathered business cycles and dining fads. If you want a piece of beef in Boulder, The Cork cannot be beat. The service is also much better than almost anyplace in Boulder. Many of the servers have been there for years. Don't let The Cork's location dissuade you - it adds to the charm of the place. If a restaurant can maintain such unique ambiance, consistent success and excellent quality while being in such an odd location, it must be doing something right. If you want to have a great dining experience and can't get into the hottest places, consider The Cork - you will not be disappointed.

After hearing friends rave about this place we finally decided to take the leap and eat here. We came on a Monday night to celebrate our daughter moving out of state. We had reservations and were seated promptly. My main complaints are the service and the coldness of the place. The food was mostly good, but we had the special, a steak Oscar I think it was, which is a steak topped with crab and Bearnaise sauce. The crab was AWFUL. It was dry, very salty and fishy tasting, like seafood from the back of the freezer. The steak was good and cooked as ordered. The service, as I said, was strange to say the least. Our waitress had no emotion - no smile, no pleasantries and seemed a bit irritated to answer questions or help. On arrival I stopped in at the restroom before sitting down and ordered my drink after everyone else. After waiting quite awhile my husband flagged her down and she did bring it finally and didn't charge, but didn't apologize either. All through the night, though the service was generally prompt, the server was so wooden and grumpy it took the fun out of it. It IS pricey - we ordered wine that costs about $45 in the store and so my husband figured it would be about $70 at the normal restaurant mark-up, but it was DOUBLE. Our bill for three of us came to over $500! I expect TOP NOTCH service and food for what we paid. Any server working there should make better than average tips and should at least SMILE. If your job is that bad, you need to find a new one. Perhaps the attitude comes from the manager? Many reviews here mention the service. A good restaurant gets rid of servers like that and managers who don't care have staff who don't care. We were wearing dresses and wished that we had worn jeans and heavy sweaters - it was cold and drafty just like the server! Wish I'd sent my food back but I didn't. Wish we'd checked the prices of the wine first but we didn't. That's our fault - but we still won't be back!

This was my second time at Boulder Cork and it was just as great as the first time. It's certainly not a bargain type place but I think the quality and service justify the cost. I've only eaten dinner there so I cannot speak to how it might be for other meal times. We were there pretty late (arrived after 8PM) and never felt rushed or pressed for time.

Way pricey, two glasses of wine and 4 dinners, no dessert and it was $175 plus tip. Was very delish'. Sat four of us down at our 6:45 reservation on a Friday night and only one menu. Weird. Waited for the table next to us to finish with theirs and asked their server for them. But service was superb. VERY LOUD. Hard to hold a conversation without having to yell back and say WHAT? I had the prime rib and it was perfect.

Overall an excellent experience. Ambiance was great and service was outstanding. It's rare to find a service team that knows how to preserve your privacy and keep the meal well paced and lighthearted. The only thing keeping that 5th star out of my review is the seasoning. The food was impeccably cooked and the texture of meat, seafood, and vegetables was perfect, but some aspects of the meal lacked flavor. This isn't the end of the world with salt and pepper on the table, but for the price I think it's reasonable to expect not to need them. For reference I had the prosciutto salad, buffalo steak, green chili Mac, and creme brûlée.

Sorry Cork, I would like to give you at least 3 stars for the ambience and great service and even a delicious and generous salad but......A steakhouse serving me a very rare, almost blue steak is unforgivable. I sent it back and they cooked it some more and it was still rare (I ordered it medium rare) but decided to eat it any way. The steak, a $38 filet was tasteless. Even great pieces of meat still need a little salt. For the price, I was expecting something spectacular and got meh! Next time I'll go to the Boulder Chophouse.

My wife and I have only visited this place a couple times, but those two visits have given me a good impression so far. The vegetables that come with the excellent entrées have come to us cooked to perfection. One the biggest reasons that we decided to visit here is the fact that they are one of the few restaurants (at the time) that offered grass-fed beef options. They didn't carry grass-fed beef steaks on a regular basis, but did in the burger realm as well as buffalo burgers. But they do regularly offer a buffalo flank steak that is very succulent. I don't throw that word around very much, but that would be a good way to describe that wonderfully tasting meat dish. Sure, the buffalo steak is a bit on the expensive side in my opinion, but well worth it from time to time! The total bill, though, can easily get up there depending on what you get and how much. It does have a higher-end feel to the atmosphere, so we do dress up a tad (nice jeans and a shirt at least) when we visit. But a lot of the customers are a bit laid back so I wouldn't fret too much unless it's around the Holidays where more people might dress up more around those times.

I don't like writing bad reviews but the Cork is sad and the food is uninspired. My husband's fish & chips included three tiny nuggets and a dozen French fries. My large plate of nachos were dry with gross canned jalapeños. Go anywhere else to eat.

Visited with my roommate on a special deal where there as a fixed menu to choose from... I found the food to be quite fabulous and was actually surprised how much food they gave us. We were on the fixed menu, so YMMV. The table bread was horrible by the way, they should be embarrassed that they're serving it. Food was hot and tasty, staff was attentive. The atmosphere is pretty boring, not interesting nor bad. As my roommate put it, she would bring her parents here. Also the kind of place you might have graduation dinner. I admit not scoping out the bar, that might be a decent place to hang out if you live in the area. Overall, I give it good marks for the service and food - I'd be ok going back anytime, but since the atmosphere is not motivating, it isn't anywhere near the top of my list.

Home of the $8.50 artichoke and $38 prime rib. The prices would be fine if the food and service were above average. The food was OK but mostly came cold due to the horrible service. Despite having made reservations well ahead of time, our party of six was crammed into a small room up smack against the (single-pane?) freezing cold french doors. Drafty and miserable. We had to ask others to help us as we worked the chairs/tables to cram into our seats. The tables weren't even ready, and we had to ask for menus. Again, asking for menus wouldn't have been a big deal except for the fact that our server was also MIA, and we were too crammed in to get out and ask for help. Disastrous. Overpriced and over-rated three hour meal due to horribly slow and inattentive service. The meat was decent, but nothing special in terms of flavor and not served hot. Better off cooking at home.

I highly recommend dinner at the Boulder Cork. It was a Saturday evening and my boyfriend and I were reading Yelp reviews to figure out where to have dinner. We called a couple of places to get reservations and both said it was an hour and a half wait. I jumped on OpenTable and was able to get a reservation for Boulder Cork for 7:30 (it was 7:15 at the time). I was surprised that I was able to get a reservation so soon. We arrived at the restaurant and the hostess had a table ready for us. So far so good. Our server was vrey friendly and pleasant. We picked out our steak entrees and he recommended an excellent wine to go with them. The salads came and they were delicious. The bread was okay. I wish it would have been warm. That was the worst part of this meal and honestly, that was minor. Our steaks were cooked perfectly. Then came dessert. I decided on a peanut butter gelato. My mouth is watering right now thinking about it. It was so creamy and such a delicious flavor. Oh it was amazing. Next time I'm in Boulder I will definitely be eating at Boulder Cork. I highly recommend this restaurant for an excellent meal, great service, and easy to get a table at.

I had high hopes for this placed based on the great yelp reviews. My wife and I sat in the bar area for their happy hour. Service was slow, and unapologetic when they got our order wrong (although it was fixed promptly). The food was ok, we tried a number of small plates off the happy hour menu including the "fresh" fish, eggplant parm sandwich, open face braised beef, waffle chips, and crostini. Most were pretty bland (except the crostini, which was good, but i won't be running back for it).

Went here with a group of 24 people and no reservations on a Sunday night. They happily seated us in a private room once most of our group had arrived. Service was a bit on the slow side, and it did take forever to get our food. However, I assume they were trying to make sure 20+ different meals came out at about the same time, so they get a bit of slack there. The food, on the other hand, was excellent. I had a grilled watermelon salad (it was one of the specials) and I've never had anything like it. Slices of watermelon with goat cheese, greens, and balsamic vinaigrette. Great flavors that all worked together. I had to ask what they yellow slices were since I'd never seen yellow watermelon before. The prime rib was delicious and cooked just as we'd asked, and the southwestern mac and cheese was great even though I'm not a big fan of jalapenos.

I chose this place for a 10 person dinner with some 30 something year old friends based on its exterior cuteness and ability to take a reservation. We did some Yelp work in advance and knew to try the burgers. Everyone who had a burger was very happy with their decision -- including me. Everyone who didn't have the burger had mixed reviews on the food. The service was pretty appalling and slow. The wine recommendations from our server, begrudgingly, were all unanimously bad. That being said, I'm a good burger glutton, and it was a fantastic burger. I might just have to consider take out in the future.

Great food! We had the lobster ravioli and crab cakes to start. Filet Oscar style and everything was great! Staff was friendly. Finished with salted peanut butter brownie and chocolate carrot cake. Never heard of choc carrot cake before! It was different. Good, but I prefer the original. And peanut butter didn't go well with the salted brownie. Dessert looked way better than it tasted but it wasn't bad and everything else made up for it :)

Outstanding happy hour (get there by 4:30!!!!) in the bar, and a lovely, calm dining experience in the regular restaurant. Great ambiance, white table cloths, cozy in winter, very good steaks, super wine menu (even the house wine is very good), very nice "special celebration place", and enjoyable anytime, though a bit pricey.

If this review were based solely on food, my rating would have been five stars. The food is great; particularly the BLT. Whoa! I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that it's the best BLT I've ever eaten! I've also tasted their burger and several salads...all fantastic. The two facts that brought the rating down a star: 1. Service. The wait staff are friendly and personable, but it consistently takes FOREVER to receive food. This is a great place to go for a leisurely lunch or dinner, but if you're limited to an hour long lunch break, this is not the place for you. 2. The decor. It's a pleasant enough atmosphere, but with it's low ceiling and dark walls, it feels a bit cave-like and steakhouse circa 1986. Overall, if you're not short on time and not looking for a hipster hangout, this place is a great choice for a delicious meal every time.

Off the beaten path but worth the trek. A Boulder Restaurant that has been in business for 30 plus years in a town where restaurants come and go with the blink of a eye. And my dinning experience proved exactly why. From the host to the seasoned staff - mouth watering steak, served with local vegetables, fabulous wine list. Cozy, warm, rip me out of there I don't want to leave atmosphere. For those who want a incredible and memorable dining experience. This is your place to indulge.

I will never know what the food is like, because the service was so excruciatingly slow, incompetent, rude and uncommunicative that I left. The short version: You can't reserve a table for happy hour; this is not stated anywhere online or at the restaurant; I showed up at 4:50 for my 5:00pm reservation; they made me sit by myself in the waiting area until 5:00pm exactly before I could be seated even though the dining area was COMPLETELY empty; when I then asked to be seated at 5pm they told me that we couldn't get happy hour in the dining area (even though I told them when I arrived that we were going to do a mix of happy hour and dinner food and they said that was fine); so then I asked if they could make an exception; they brought the manager over; and everybody involved said they were sorry but couldn't make an exception; and I told them I've never been there before, and how was I supposed to know that I can't reserve a table for happy hour food if you don't state it anywhere on the website, the exterior of the restaurant, or in conversation from the host when I arrive; and she just said "sorry but there's nothing I can do". The long version: Nah, the short version was long enough, and I've wasted enough of my time. Next time I'll go to Taco Bell or McDonald's where they (sadly) provide more friendly, helpful service.

I've been here twice and both times the food has been extraordinary! I had the Mahi-Mahi fish bowl and it was out of this world. The staff is super friendly. I will be back to try a steak. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The cork is a staple for business lunches, business or family friendly happy hour and dinner. Prime rib sandwich is great, fish curry bowl, Dijon chicken sandwich, salmon, lobster ravs (smaller dish).. The thing is It's been our go to for a year now and they haven't changed the menu once. We'd love to see some changes and what else the crew can do.

Rude service and food is microwave quality. Spend your money elsewhere. The drinks are overpriced and made with a lack of bar tending sense. The wine is incredibly overpriced, as is most of the food. Servers are rude. Simply, go somewhere you'll be treated better.

It was Ok. I could spend the same amount of money at Flemmings and get more food with more flavor. I probably wouldn't choose to go there again unless someone invited us. I would rather make the drive to Flemmings. Even though the I put them as OK, they still had really good service and atmosphere.

I tried the Boulder Cut prime rib. It was very tender and soft and a pretty big cut. I thought it was pretty good but a big bland so had to add salt. We also ordered crab cakes and shrimp wrapped with bacon for appetizers. Overall a good meal.

I have to say I was thoroughly disappointed in Cork. I went there for Happy Hour because I had heard such good things and knew that I could try it out for a cheaper cost than a full steak dinner. The place was packed and the staff was great, my review isn't pertaining to them. I would describe the food like the leftover line at your school cafeteria or the Sunday meal at most restaurants - everything just seemed old and lacked a lot of flavor and freshness. I had the chicken quesadilla which was melted cheese on a tortilla with salsa and chicken on top - that was equivalent to a make your own frozen pizza at home. The crab stuffed mushrooms were like they were made 3 days prior and heated in a microwave. The BBQ Sammy with fries was something out of an airport restaurant. I would try them again maybe for dinner, but Wednesday HH was less than stellar

My friend Kirk had heard so many good comments about this long established Boulder fixture we wanted to try it for a Thursday lunch. We arrived about 11:30 and were promptly seated in the bar area near the windows. We commented how sparse the menu seemed but in any case many of the descriptions looked good. I ordered the seared tuna special with an orzo pasta side, the fish was fresh and the pasta tasted okay. My friend ordered the fish tacos and we both remarked about how bland and uninteresting they were. The German dark beer ordered was excellent however the Bloody Mary had an indescribable 'off-flavor' we also had a couple of glasses of wine, the recommended Pinot was very good however the Moscato wine was poor quality. Crème brûlée $8, had a good flavor but a course texture, perhaps a little too old. The apple-cherry crisp with Vanilla ice cream was unremarkable expect for the 8 dollar price tag. Combined with the slow service, unremarkable food served tepid and steep prices for lunch we will not be returning anytime soon. All in all $115 dollars for a lunch that Jason Deli could have beat was not my idea of good ambiance.

Went for restaurant week because I remember the steak being the best I've ever had. Restaurant week portions were very small, even for my wife. I ordered a burger and side of Mac off the regular menu and got twice the food for half the price. Drinks were not the level of a $12 cocktail. Server was sub par. Her attention to detail did not fit this kind of restaurant. They seemed too comfortable with their status as a Boulder staple. Much better options in the metro area for a $100 date night.

The service was amazing. Food? Not so much. The trout was soggy not crispy. The artichoke was way under cooked. The Mahi dish was tasty but way over priced for what it was. I highly recommend any of the salads. They're all very creative and delicious. But again. . Pricey.

Honeymooning in Colorado and was up near Estes park for the day. On the way back to Denver stopped at Boulder cork for dinner. The place is so nice. They take open table reservations which is a plus! Our waitstaff was Amber and Katherine and they were fantastic! The lemon drop martinis were perfect and so was our Mac and cheese appetizer. The cowboy steak was cooked perfectly and we topped off the meal with an ice cream sundae which was comped by the Cork. We also received an awesome picture celebrating our honeymoon! Soo sweet! You will be very happy with Boulder Cork! Remember to ask for Amber or Katherine! Enjoy!!!!

The majority of my group had steaks...all of which were undercooked and lukewarm. I sent mine back. It returned slightly more cooked and still lukewarm in less than 5 minutes--weird. The sides (potatoes, toasted veg, etc) were almost cold when we got them. All of the steaks were priced a la carte and run an average of $32+. Sides cost extra. Do yourself a favor and go to Ted's. Their food tastes better, costs less, and comes out right every time.

So Boulder Cork isn't your traditional style steakhouse; its brightly lit and relatively lower prices, while still providing exceptional service and fancy paper towels in the bathrooms. On the night we came in, they had a limited menu due (the 2015 graduation menu) because I guess there were so many reservations that weekend. Apparently, they have a really great happy hour menu, but weren't offering it during graduation weekend. The graduation menu consisted of a variety of starters and salads, the aka carte steak and sides menu and a complete entree part. We started with some salads. The Caesar salad was probably one of the best I've ever had. I loved the very acidic dressing and the lettuce was super fresh and crunchy. Even the croutons were great. I also tried some of the wedge salad, which was also good, but if I'm ever back, I'd still k with the Caesar :) I had a bit of trouble deciding on my entree. The scallops really caught my eye, but I thought since it was my first time, I should probably get a steak. I ended up going for the teriyaki steak, and coming from Hawaii, where teriyaki is a staple, I can say that the Teri sauce was good!! The steak however was a little chewy, and the sides weren't exceptional (I tried the creamed spinach and sautéed mushrooms). Most of our table had the prime rib, and there were no complaints. Our waiter and busboys were exceptional. The waiter took he orders of the females in our party first and came by consistently to check on us. I also liked that he told us the specials of the day and included the prices!! Being Chinese and all, I like knowing how much my dinner is going to cost me before I order it, so I hardly ever order specials when the waiter doesn't tell me the price. I'd definitely recommend Boulder Cork for the salads and prime rib and exceptional service. There is also plenty of parking and it's pretty centrally located in Boulder.

We visited for a last minute celebration with the family and enjoyed ourselves. The filet was good and the smoked mash potatoes are a different take than the usual side. I had the scallops and they were tender and tasty. My husband tried the fish of the day (trout) and he was not very impressed- he said it was "just ok" and was not sure he'd go back. The ambience was not what we expected, a lot more cafeteria like than steakhouse. The waitress didn't appreciate my husbands joke about the kids menu but that's ok- I usually don't laugh either. ;)

Update: Went back a week later to take advantage of the early bird special. We got their about 2 minutes till six and were a just a tax obnoxious about getting our order in on time. The waiter was a french guy, wish I knew his name so I could give him kudos. I was in the restaurant business for over 20 years and consider myself a bit of a foodie. Point is I've been waited on a lot. This might be the best service I've ever received. He was funny, polite, didn't talk down, non pretentious. Everything was perfect. The 5th star is for him alone. Brilliant. Made my week.

I forget about the Cork because of its location, in my mind I search up and down the Pearl street corridor. But tonight I felt like a steak, not the usual Boulder fare. I will not forget again. We started with an ahi tuna tartar that was like eating butter from the sea. Moved on to the heirloom tomato salad that I hesitated to eat due to its beauty, like art on a canvas the tomatoes were laced with flowers, fresh mozzarella and a basaltic glaze. We ate the art and are better people for it! And finally the steak, you know that feeling when you get the first charred to perfection bite when your mind goes Yes this is worth the cost and the cholesterol and all of the judgement from all of the people having tofu for dinner Yes! It was that steak. Perfect service, memorable meal. Thank you. Jen

I love the Boulder cork for numerous reasons. I think the prices are pretty fair and reasonable for the quality of food you're getting and the overall experience. I've been here several times and have never had a bad experience and have had some of the best steaks I've ever had. For starters try the steamed artichoke, to light and is delicious dipped in the aioli sauce. The scallops are really tasty, they are sweet and creamy but not over bearing but I would say to get any of the steaks over this just because they are even better. My personal favorite steak is the teriyaki sirloin, it's relatively inexpensive and is seasoned to perfection. To accompany your steak try the smoked mashed potatoes, they have just the right amount of smokey flavor that truly enhances the overall taste of the dish.

Filet during lunch hour was very tender. The asparagus was large and tasty also. Finished off with the Apple fruit crisp which was delicious. The inside of restaurant has nice atmosphere and an outside patio. Wait staff were very courteous, polite and prompt. The waiter Casey was very good at doing his job.

WOW...my husband was right Cork is absolutely fantastic! Every time he is in Boulder, once or twice a month, he goes to Boulder Cork. He usually pulls up a seat at the huge bar area and orders their Prime Rib sandwich. I had the pleasure of going to Cork the other evening and enjoyed every bit of it. Our server was really friendly and knew the menu. Again what you would expect from a Boulder restaurant. Of course my husband had his usual but I started with the Baked Shrimp wrapped in prosciutto with Fontana cheese. It was good but very cheesy. And of course as cheese bakes it gets oily. My entree was delicious! I had the Fish Bowl. It had Mahi-mahi with lots of veggies in a wonderful curry sauce. After all of that we were too full to think about dessert. Oh btw, the beers are good here and the bar drinks are good. I had a dry martini a bit dirty and it was exactly perfect.

Overpriced and mediocre quisine. Example: shrimp cocktail included all of five small shrimp for a price one can get fifty for at the market. Entrees were along the same. Disappointing.
