We met a huge group here for drinks a few Friday nights ago. The community tables seem like a great idea, and it would be nice to see something succeed in this space. However, it was really, really hot and really, really loud back there, so they need to figure out some ventilation at the very least before summer! Since neither my husband nor I drink very much, we skipped the oddly pricey beer list altogether and decided to order a couple small plates. For $7 a pop, we assumed two would be a decent amount of food for two semi-hungry people. And, being appetizers, we assumed they'd appear relatively quickly. No such luck. Half an hour later, our pitiful snacks arrived. The pretzel dumplings were basically luke-warm balls of mushed-up old pretzels, served on a handful of mixed greens with a dollop of potato salad. The potato salad was actually really good, as was the "heavenly" mustard. But the dumplings were nearly inedible. And the meat pirogi was even worse! For $7, we got a single, two-bite sized, puff pastry "dumpling" filled with ground chuck. Seriously. That was NOT a pirogi, and it was NOT worth $7! Around our overflowing community table, the only person actually enjoying his food was the guy who ordered the sausage platter. His fries looked excellent, and he said the sausages were really good. Everyone else had serious complaints, and one girl had to send hers back TWICE because it was the completely wrong thing both times! Sweaty and hungry, we settled our tab and headed over to the Boulder Cafe, where for the same amount of money we enjoyed a delicious meal of fondue, fries, and two gourmet sliders. Plus, that waiter actually refilled our water (gasp!). Hopefully the Biergarten pulls itself together before too many people have similarly bad experiences. Honestly, it seems like the sausages and fries were big hits at the table, so maybe they should stick to a simple menu.

Rather disapointing. The spatzle had no flavor. The perogies werr ok but nothing special. We had a few european beers but the selection wasn't great for boulder standards. We won't go back.

While I enjoy the atmosphere & great beer, unfortunately the staff here has gone downhill - sorely. I was actually refused service over some sort of confusion with me resembling someone else and the barman simply walked off without returning. I have NEVER been treated so disrespectfully in the many years I've lived in Boulder. Very disappointed.

Place is great, german bartenders are the dudes. They pour proper drinks and beers, no messing around in here. Brats and fries are pretty damn good

    1. The liter beers are tasty and stay cold. 2. The sausage is above average. 3. The pretzels are excellent when hot - but lousy when cold. 4. Servers are above average. 5. Great place for groups.

Nicely decorated with a mix of German and Eastern European decor. Long communal tables and 2 large rooms. They serve staropramen on draught which is a bonus and sausages looked very good

Gotta say, the vibe of this place is great. Although it doesn't feel like any Biergarten I've ever been to, it has a general European beer hall feeling, and they've really tried to make it look the part. We came here on Mother's day, and specifically came because the website says Happy Hour starts at 3:00. We were told upon our arrival (and eventual but delayed greeting) that it actually starts at 3:30. They said they would honor it, though. Note- one reason for the 3 stars is that the website, despite looking pretty, is kind of awful. All the subjects like "food" "beer" "happy hour" are links, but link to nothing, so you can't see a menu, a beer list, a happy hour description, prices, anything. Not very helpful. Happy hour applies only to beer, which, in Boulder, is not very competitive. The draft beer list sticks to European-style beers and features Shine (from next door), Prost, Avery, Czechvar, and Staropramen. I guess you have to have Czechvar in a "Czech" place, but really? It's so common, just leave it off the menu. We were really really hoping to see real Czech beers that are very difficult to find here- IE Gambrinus, Velkopopovicky, etc. I can buy both Czechvar and Staropramen in almost any liquor store. Beer sizes are half-liters (pints) and liters. They look big (the halves, that is) but they're just very tall pints. Oh, and those pints? They're $6.50. That's insane. A liter will cost you over $10. We ordered a soft pretzel, were not given a menu, so had no idea how much it cost. Beer (Staropramen for us) was good, cold, but again not really what I had hoped for. The pretzel was also pretty good, but it was nearly $7. Again, that is incredibly pricey! And that's during "happy hour". Other tables had many types of mustard on the table, but we were only given one small ramekin- of only one kind. They were having a DJ set up in the small front room, on mother's day, when there is a large back room with an actual performance area, which is also weird. So, we finished quickly and tried to leave. They charged us full price despite saying they'd honor their website list for happy hour- to their credit the waitress wasn't paying attention and took off FAR too much money than she should have, to make up for it, so that was nice. I really want a beer garden in Boulder, I think it's the perfect town for a beer garden, but this place can't define itself- it's Czech owned, but it has a German name and a German vibe. Opposed to an actual beer garden, prices are really high. No German/Czech music, instead they bring in a weird DJ? Either stick to the theme of being a traditional beer garden, or try to completely adapt to Boulder, but doing both will just result in a failed business idea, even though I really want it to succeed.

The community tables here are amazing! These are the types of places that are scattered through Europe, and though its in a sleepy college mountain town, the vibe is authentic enough. The night we were there they had an Austrian band with accordions and costumes. Lots of toasts and jolly swaying back and forth with your "stein". Of course it suffers from the same problems most Boulder spots do: expensive & colleg-ey. All in all: Go early and look out for their live music schedule. Head to the back room, its cozy.

So, I have gone back to the Bohemian Biergarten a few more times.....much improvement! The waiters on both occasions were great! The space itself is still very hot and stuffy, this was on a fairly cold evening. I haven't ordered food other than the pretzel, the menu looks interesting and maybe soon will have to give it a try.

I hesitated to write my review of the Biergarten because my first couple of experiences were in their first few weeks. I'm happy to say that what would have been a 2 or 3 star is now a solid 4 star review. It seems they have gotten the memo about service, or at least the last two times I was there service was good. Scott was our server a couple of nights ago and he handled our group really well. Was it perfect? No. But considering we started with 4, then 6, then 8, then 11. All the while people shuffling around and changing seats, I think he did a hell of a job. I love the vibe in this place. Although I cannot speak to its authenticity (yet), I can say that walking in here and having some sausages, pretzels and beer with a group of friends absolutely transports you to somewhere else. When you eventually spill onto 13th in Boulder, its a bit of a shock. Like if you go to the theater to see a Christmas movie in the summer and then walk outside... where you are mentally doesn't match the surroundings. It's the best thing I can possibly say about an establishment's atmosphere. Pretzels are great. Mustards are vastly improved from the early days. Pro-tip, mix the Heaven and Spicy mustards for a great balance of spice and mustard punch. Sausages are excellent. Perogies were well executed... I preferred the potato over the spinach and feta. Spaetzle left a little to be desired.

I love almost everything about this place. If you are looking for a friendly atmosphere with gypsy-Czech flair and LOTS of unusual meats, this is the place to go! They have a number of homemade sausages that change every couple of weeks, sometimes they are roasting a pig on a spit, and they ALWAYS have a full menu of other delicious and authentic options. Definitely check out the Pierogi! Go for lunch, or a night out on the town! If you ARE going out for drinking purposes, I'd recommend grabbing a liter of tasty brew and a shot or two of Becherovka at the Biergarten!

Sat in the back room with coworkers for dinner and beers. I hear this is a Boulder thing but the place wouldn't let my friend, a 25 year old male (an ex-NFLer) get a beer because his ID was old and vertical. That was silly. I don't blame the waiter but at some point people's ages are clear and the management could have relaxed on this one. We were a group of coworkers. Beer was good in size and flavor. They let me do a sample because I didin't know enough about them so that was cool. Decor wise it's meant to be sort of rundown. I like the rustic basic "bierhaus" look and tables. Food - we ordered a medley of things that we all shared. I could've used more topping on the pork shnitzel. Our second pretzel was a overcooked. Brussel sprouts had way too much balsamic on them, sort of irritated our mouths. Sausages were good! Had chicken and pork. I'd come back here for drinks but probably not food. Our waiter was really nice and fast as well as the woman who initially sat us!

Overall atmosphere is great. Beers were good, beer taps seem to be clean, no funky taste. The food, however was just gross. So German good is pretty basic, and from my own personal experience, fairly easy to make. So why then was: The Spaetzle bland and mushy? Seriously, no cheese, no salt, no flavor, unless you consider flavor the boiled water that it was cooked in. Bleh. It's still sitting on my plate, collecting water from when it was first boiled. The pirogies mediocre. I read one review of a guy getting them fried, unexpectedly. Well I for one would have welcomed them that way, because the pierogies I got were super sticky, ripped open when I tried to pick them up, and tasted like I was eating straight dough. I doubt they use sour cream in their dough, because it looked, acted and tasted like glue, aka flour and water. End scene. Blehhhhhh Sausage was burned. This is the only thing in my dish that had potential, but most likely because they didn't touch it until it hit the grill. I have an empty stomach and a full plate of food, but honestly I just prefer to go hungry tonight. Enjoy the beer. Enjoy your friends. Enjoy the atmosphere. Eat elsewhere if you expect decent food when paying 25+ for the described meal above.

If you want a very authentic atmosphere, with very authentic czech/german drinks and food - definitely don't miss coming to the Biergarten while in Boulder. This is a great new spot, and it doesn't attract the college crowd until after 11pm which is nice. Everyone I know in Boulder/Denver in their late 20's-30's loves this place right off the bat. There is nothing else like it in Boulder, or really Colorado for that matter. The pretzels with homemade mustard and the beers are top notch. Their cocktails (aka vodka sodas) are a bit pricey for the size ($7), but what can you do, it's Boulder. The only thing I dislike about the Biergarten are the bouncers/front door staff. They are tough guys who are on a major power trip. Cheers.

Went here for drinks last night and it was awesome! Love the atmosphere of the Biergarten: An eclectic group of people. Love that the beer list is kinda short, so it wasn't too hard to make a decision. I was also delightfully surprised they have trivia on Tuesday nights, which was a lot of fun. Unfortunately I didn't try the food, but I will have to next time ;)

Another 'transportational' spot in CO (along with Domo). The owners did a great job taking you to Bavaria with the decor and the ginormous beers. I'd have given them 5 but the staff seem pretty uneducated about what beers they even have. Thankfully I walked in kind of knowing the direction in which I wanted to head. It also would probably be a boon for business to have some waitstaff in dirndl uniforms....I'm just sayin' Hey - it's traditional! I think a nice outdoor biergarten would be cool for good weather and festivals as well. A staffer told me they were working on a convertible roof or something like that. They also have a spate of pretty good snacks as well. Delish pretzels and I suggest the sausage sampler to start.

There are wurst places to hang. You can't go wrong with grilled meats and beer, kind of like going to Grandma's in Michigan. Rib sticking German, simple and effective.

A service nightmare. The people sharing our table warned us, but we laughed it off thinking it really couldn't be that bad. They were right! They gave us our menus, telling us it'd be faster that way since the waitress routinely forgot to bring theirs. When the waitress arrived we asked a question about the mac N cheese sausage. She said she'd go ask the cook and vanished. Ten or more minutes later she arrived back at our table as if she was seeing us for the first time. We mentioned the mac N cheese, but it was all new to her so we ordered. A pretzel for our kid so she didn't spin out, and dinners for each of us. Off she went. 30 minutes later... she arrives with one meal and the pretzel and vanishes. We have no idea which meal it is, however. And now we're out of beer AND water. But she's gone and we're left trying to figure it out. She eventually returns with one other meal and to tell me my meal is no longer available. Uh... I order another beer and a different meal, trying to be positive. 15 minutes later I find myself at the bar ordering the beer. I return to the table and watch my family eat and finish their meals. We wait.... We wait.... Finally the waitress returns with the check. Where is my meal? She's totally forgotten I ordered anything!!! What's more, she's included the meal they no longer serve!!!! My wife flies into a rage and rushes back to speak with the manager who rolls his eyes about how bad his waitstaff is at the restaurant. They comp the meal, but I'm left having to go to another restaurant to order food to go because our little one needs to go to bed. So much for our one family dinner night out of the week. It's safe to say we will never EVER return to this place again. And why should we? For a couple sausages and beer available at any grocery store? What happened, Boulder? You used to have good food and good service. More and more we're finding it simply not worth our time and money to go out to a disappointing meal. Perhaps the next restaurant to fill this space will do a better job?

I'm a Boulder native now living in Astoria, NY. Astoria is famous for their Bohemian Beer Garden ( yelp.com/biz/bohemian-ha… ) so of course on a Fri night on the town, my friend and I walk by this one and I say "we MUST go in here!" We had a great time here! They had to charge a $1 cover for the polka band playing but that's ok. The beer was good and affordable, vibe was great, bartenders were dressed very neat (even though they weren't very conversational but I guess on a Fri night you can't expect them to be chatty), crowd was mixed and energetic- exactly what a beer garden should be. Not pretentious, not upscale or even trendy, just a place for all people to kick back, meet new people and have a laid back, good time! I didn't get to try the food so I can't rate for service or food quality but when I come back home I will definitely check this place out again! I also really like how they had water and glasses on the table. Hopefully I can come during the summer and maybe during the afternoon for day drinking!

My 60-year-old dad and I came in to this "Biergarten" on 6/19/2014 around 7:30 PM mountain standard time and were refused service by the short female bartender (at the front bar). My dad, being a 60-year-old man, had to pee when he got there, so I was waiting for him a few feet away from the bar. I didn't even speak to anyone, move, or try to order a drink before the bartender needed to see my ID and look at it for a weird amount of time. When my 60-year-old dad came back, the bartender asked him for his ID, said she was just kidding, then the two of them exchanged a few jokes. Then we tried to order two half-liters. The bartender asked what we had been up to, I told her we were touring the beer places on Pearl St. (a.k.a. West Flanders and Shine), to which she rudely replied, "That explains a lot." In actuality, we had two beers and dinner before we got there, and were not acting even remotely intoxicated. She then said, "You guys aren't driving, right?" to which my dad said, "I am." She then said, "Then I can't serve you." I was stunned, and my dad even asked if she was being serious. She was. So we left and took our business next door to the Boulder Cafe, where the bartenders were polite, and competently did their jobs. Don't go here; go to Shine right next door for a somewhat similar, but much better experience. If I ever come back here (because a friend wants to for their birthday or something like that) I promise I will turn right around and leave if I see that **person** (THE SHORT, BRUNETTE FEMALE WORKING AT THE FRONT BAR AROUND 7:30 MST ON 6/19/2014) behind the bar.

Bartenders are assholes. I spent over $100 in drinks here, and my friend starts nodding a little bit, and I asked the bartender if he could get my friend a coffee, and he refused, saying that he can't serve us anymore, but all we asked for was coffee and water. Don't come here, bartenders are assholes and drinks overpriced.

This is a wonderful place to meet up and hang out with friends. The interior is amazing and authentic, the staff are wonderful and attentive, and the variety of entertainment is pretty cool. They have an excellent selection of beers and a delicious sampling of menu items to compliment those tasty bevs. There are two sections to the place, the front area which is usually a bit more chill, and then the back is where the entertainment can be found on stage. They have had everything from comedy to electronic DJ's with dancers who put on quite a show. My favorite is the Saturday night variety act where the crowd serves as the participants for what often times ends up being quite an interesting event. This is one of the most unique venues in town, and the staff dress accordingly in authentic outfits. You owe it to yourself to check it out and have a good time!

In Support of the visual arts in Boulder and children's art classes, Bohemian Biergarten, generously donated their time and fabulous food to OpenArts' Annual fundraising pARTy. Erica and the entire team at Bohemian Biergarten were top notch. Despite a raging snow storm, the food arrived hot and on time. The bacon wrapped dates were a real hit. Everything was seamless and smooth. I would wholeheartedly endorse Bohemian Biergarten for your next event!

I had such high hopes for this place. It's been on our list for quite awhile, and finally today, for lack of a better idea, we decided to head to Boulder for a couple of beers and a pretzel. The people aren't lying when they talk about bad service - WOW. We sat at the bar and initially we were the only people at the bar. The bartender got us our beers and I asked for a menu. It was literally another 40 minutes before we could get her attention to actually order a damn pretzel. We ordered some pretzel dumplings and got back to finishing our beers. My glass was empty for quite awhile before she came back to to ask if I needed a refill - I did. We finally realized it had been quite a long time since we ordered our pretzels, he ordered another beer with the expectation that the pretzels would be there any minute. Finally, a full 45 minutes after we ordered them, I got the bartender's attention to ask about the pretzels. Oh, guess what?? She didn't ever put them in the system. We decided to forget about them, finish our beers and get out. No apology, no "I'll buy you a beer" - not even a "can I get you something else?" She admitted she forgot them and walked away. We were there for a full 2 hours and each had 2 beers while we patiently waited for our never-to-show-up pretzels. It was next to impossible to get the bartender's attention - even when we were the only 2 sitting at the bar. She was sure however, to count her tips at least 6 times while we were sitting there, she very obviously wasn't that busy. Overall, the atmosphere is awesome - like others have said, it feels very European and the beer was good. But the downside to all of this is the absolutely horrendous service. Decent service is not too much to ask for in general, but I expect much better service at the bar. We'll go back and give it one more try, but only because the menu has some really great looking options. Let's just say I'll lower my expectations going into it next time around.

Love this place!! My husband and his coworkers frequent this place often, and just rave about it. While in Boulder for a party we decided to pop in so I could check it out. Stepping into Bohemian Biergarten is what I imagine it is like stepping into a pub in Germany (which I will get to find out next year!). I love the big wooden picnic tables, and the back party room. The beer selection is fantastic, and the happy hour deals are a steal! I had a half liter of Paulaner Hefe plus a giant soft pretzels for $10. AND it was one of the best pretzels I've ever had! Their mustards could use some work, but that didn't bum me out too much. Can't wait to go back and try more of their food...and Bier!!

Never tried the food, but the beers are great, and the bar sticks to its guns. This is a no frills, European style bar, with HUGE steins and mugs of beer. They offer a different experience than elsewhere on Pearl. The place can get pretty packed on the weekends, but the music and crowds are better than the competition. I think this place does a good job filling the niche they intend to, and I'd definitely recommend it for a thirsty weekend night.

This place was AWFUL!!!! I had heard so many great things and was so excited to try it out. Brought my parents and niece who were visiting from out of town there on Father's Day along with my 9 year old daughter. The service could not have been worse. The waitress was friendly enough, but she brought out all of the dishes at different times and my mom had to wait about 25 minutes for her dinner after we all got ours. By that time, we were all finished so she had to eat alone. With my dad being from Austria and well versed on German cuisine, he said his meal was mediocre at best. It got worse from there... on Sunday evenings there is apparently a comedy show... not a funny one I might add! We sat in the backroom because it was quieter than the front room and my father was able to hear better with his hearing aide. The waitress served us as we sat for over an hour before the comedy show started. The first guy got on stage, mentioned the fact that my daughter was sitting there and then proceeded to talk about how much he disliked kids (in what I had previously assumed was a family friendly place) and used every raunchy word he could muster. When I showed my distaste for his lousy routine (no one in the whole room was laughing either), the manager showed up at my side and told us we had to leave because children were not welcome. Mind you, I had never been there before and was not told ahead of time that children weren't allowed in the back room... even though our waitress served us for over an hour and never mentioned a word about it, even after the comedy show started! I asked the manager incredulously whether he was REALLY going to kick us out right in the middle of our Father's Day dinner and he said yes, we had to leave. He did this in front of the entire room full of people which totally embarrassed us and the next "comedian" then said something on stage about how we (my family and I) were being very distracting (when we weren't at all). Couldn't believe this was happening in a restaurant I thought was going to be so wonderful. Needless to say, I gave the waitress a big fat zero for a tip... though they did take 50% off of our bill, those customer friendly people that they are!! Will never set foot back in that place again, but given the quality of their service, entertainment and employees, I doubt they will be sticking around for too long... that is, if the residents of Boulder are lucky. Don't waste your time or money; there are MUCH better restaurants in town to go to!

WOW what a disapointment! We sat outside and waited almost 10min before someone came out to greet us. Then we ordered a pretzel and a salad which took another 20-25min to get and the pretzel was burned. We wanted to see about getting a new one but again we waited 20min before we were checked in on. At this point we were ready to go, asked for the check, and left exact cash or we would have been there for yet another 20min....worst service and food ever!!!

Still stuffed from brunch I wandered into a deserted Bohemian Biergarten at noon on Saturday. Though I'm certainly no expert this place looks and feels authentic, it is tucked away on 13th half a block or so off the Pearl Street mall. I sat up at the bar and had the Marzen that was on tap, it was crisp and refreshing, the employees I saw were going about their prep work but were friendly and attentive. This is a place I'd go back to dragging others who have never been there before. The beer selection was mostly Czech and German which is a nice contrast to the craft laden selections you see a lot of places. Good spot, grab some friends, check it out.

As a lover of Biergartens in Europe I was super excited when my wife found this place. We went this past Sunday and thought it was GREAT! The Sunday Brunch menu was pretty good, I had the Weisswurst dish and it was done very well. The eggs I asked for over easy and they were more over medium to over hard, but still very good. The pretzels are fresh and served warm with a great Dusseldorf style mustard. They have a great selection of beer also, including my personal favorite Austrian beer Stiegl, my wife and I fell in love with it while we were in Salzburg. The fact they serve them in liter glasses as well is a HUGE WOO HOO element too. The atmosphere is also really good, an authentic feel to a Austro Hungarian Biergarten right down to portrait of good ole Franz Joesf himself peering down and keeping an eye on you. The only not so great thing I found was the music, they really didn't have any going, we had to ask a couple of time to turn it up a little bit and to pick something other than Neil Young who wasn't very Habsburgish.. But we plan on going back again when they have live music which I'm sure will be an even bigger treat. Bottom line this place is GREAT!!!!

My sober wife was unjustly refused bar service, clearly because they misidentified her. When this became apparent to the bar staff, they did nothing to rectify the situation. I understand they've had trouble with their liquor licensing of late, but a more considered approach should be taken in these situations.

I really love this place! They have awesome beer selections, the servers are very knowledgeable about the beer as well. They are always kind and very patient, I never feel rushed when we go here. The happy hour is great! I really enjoy that it's a new place for lunch, too! I'll always have a good beer at lunch!

I'm not sure if I would have ever found this place on my own. Thank god my friend recommended it! I shouted across the table to my friends "this is my new favorite bar!" a few times that night. The Pilsner beer was reasonably priced. Czech bartenders are a great touch and the Austrian band in the back got us all up and dancing. What could be better than a mini-Oktoberfest in April!

Came here last night after just arriving in Boulder. We wanted to get some drinks and food. The tables are long with bench seating so you are sitting right next to other people. There are waiters that come over to the tables to serve you for both your drinks and food which is a bonus. They had drink and food specials. Two friends and I split the cheese plate which came with pretzel bread and regular bread which was awesome if you like different types of fancy cheese. They serve pretzel bread with a lot of their menu items and its really good. I also got beef stew which was their soup of the day. It was amazing with more ingredients than broth which I think is key to a lot of stews. They also have outside seating when it's nice weather and a back room with entertainment. Last night they had a phenomenal piano player who was jamming out. There is a second bar back there as well. Overall, I was pleased.

45 minutes to take our food order? I was disappointed that we were seated at 1:45pm hoping we could put in an order for Saturday brunch, and our food order wasn't taken until shortly after 2:30pm when were told that the kitchen had stopped serving brunch at 2:30pm. I enjoyed the atmosphere and food, but the experience was overshadowed by the negligent service (to the server's credit, he was slammed with too many tables). Worth going back for the pretzels and mustard selections!

First time I ate here, we sat on the outside benches/tables at the front patio. those benches are really narrow and I think are meant to discourage people from seating there awhile. also, the food was bland at best. Service was also really bad .. we thought our waitress forgot us and had ot flag down somebody else Couple people liked the authentic german food so I went back one more time. Had the reuben which was really good and we shared a pretzel which was also really good. service was marginally better. I would return only to have the reuben ..

This is a cool place in the sense that it's unique and refreshing to the town. They have a bunch of German and Czech beers on tap, and some authentic German bar food, which is something I've longed to find in Boulder. I normally go in because you can get liter-sized steins of beer for about $8 during happy hour. The decor is cool and dimly lit. They have the huge biergarten-style picnic tables and a back room with a second bar and a stage for late night bands and such. Most of the time I've came here has been for the drinks, not really the food. I've only had the french fries here but they had an interesting selection of mustards which I can imagine are great on their brats. It is a fun place to get a beer and the late night crowd is always great, not the standard college/frat nonsense. The reason it gets 2 stars is the poor service. No need to count on the servers to bring you anything within a timely manner. Just walk 3 feet to the bar. It takes them forever to do any task really, even when it's slow. Waiting for the check? 10 minutes. Waiting for a menu? 10 minutes. I don't even know why they bother with front-of-house staff. Second of all, I've had the pleasure of dealing with an extremely rude bartender. I came in with some friends quite late one night (around 1 am) and since I hadn't been in for some time, I didn't remember what the beers were like since they are all European beers mostly. It was busy so I didn't feel like asking the bartender for some samplers and I just asked him for a beer that was dark and not too malty. That's it! His response to me, verbatim, was "It's 1:30 why do you care?". Just because it's 1:30 doesn't mean I don't care what I'm gonna drink. If it's $6 you bet I'm gonna care. I laughed in his face and left. Went down the street to catacombs where you can get a solid drink from a bartender that knows how to smile. I wanted to like this place, but too many times it's been a disappointment.

Loved this place, on a warm, sunny day outside on the sidewalk. Good beer, good food (pierogies, spaetzle), good service, good prices. The Bohemian IPA is, I believe, brewed for them by Tommyknocker and it's stellar. Happy hour means you get a half-liter of good tap beer and a small plate for ten bucks....great deal. I'm not sure we would have liked it as much if we'd been sitting inside -- the odor of bleach was absolutely overwhelming inside the restaurant itself, and even wafted out where we were sitting 10 feet from the door. But that might have been a one-time thing done for a specific reason, and we'll certainly be back to give it another try. But gentle hint to management: ease up on the bleach....it ruins the taste of everything people are trying to eat or drink! But nice job on everything else. I'd like to try those charbroiled sausages next, and I won't be picking anything off.

There are a ton of areas you can just go grab a beer. And there is nothing wrong with any of these places (you'll find great beer in Colorado). But personally, the Biegarten takes the experience to a new level... well, an old world level. They've taken great care in getting the atmosphere right and the food and beer are superb. Highly recommend this place, especially if with family or visiting friends.

The food was ok, decent really. The mustard selection was great. My problem was with the ass hole door guys. I walked outside for a second after eating my dinner, and had to pass through the doorman check point to get back in. They insisted in stamping my hand on re-entry. Being in my 40's, I dont feel I need ink stamped on my hand like I am a 21 year old. I finally let them stamp me to avoid confrontation. They told me this was the law, which is untrue, and then proceeded to harass my girlfriend and tell her that I am a prick. I am an prick because I am a 40 year old man that doesnt want ink stamped on my hand? I understand this is a college town, but I am obviously an older guy. Get your dick door guys in check. Anyway, I will not be returning, and I will tell my friends not too either.

I think the lack of reviews mentioning gluten-free food are probably due to the fact that those who can't eat gluten probably think (like me) that they can't eat here. Well, surprise! This atmospheric, charmingly decorated and authentic feeling German-style pub has many gluten-free menu items and the waiters (at least one) really seemed to "get" gluten-free, especially when I explained I had Celiac. We got the big platter with three sausages, swapping out the "bier" one for smoked pork, and enjoyed the red and white cabbage and gluten-free fries. We came on Christmas Eve with friends and really loved the atmosphere, our super-nice waiter and the awesome GLUHWEIN. It was like a gluten-free friendly German Christmas market, without the market. I have not ever been to a place like this where I could actually eat the food, so I was delighted to get to try something new and fun. We went back a few days later for my brother-in-law's birthday. They had goulash and pierogies and seemed to enjoy both. The service is not the fastest I've ever had, but not rage-inducing, and waiters were pleasant and smart about not putting the gluten bread (that we had put on a separate plate for the glutenoids) right next to me. Thumbs up! Restaurants like this make me wish i still lived in Boulder.

We visited in July with a large group of German friends from the Denver area, and we were overcharged by hundreds of dollars on a credit transaction, as were friends of ours in the same party!! tHIS WAS DONE WITHOUT SIGNING FOR THE CHARGES!!! After numerous phone calls, and a few days later, the charges were finally reversed, and we were issued a gift card to come visit again. Today, we used that gift card, and had terrible service (had to hunt down a waitress, who was busy chatting to the bartender), had mediocre food, had to listen to overly loud middle eastern music, and had to wait for just about everything (restaurant was less than 50% full, if that). Nothing about this restaurant made me feel it was a German establishment, other than long tables. It is dirty, dingy, dark and cold. When I spoke to the manager, and asked him why they call this a Bohemian Biergarten, when it is so far from being German, he said that it is a Czech restaurant. Lesson from a teacher: bier garten is German (if it were czech it would be pivní zahrada). Bohemian is commonly taken to mean "home of the Boii" (from the Germanic root *haima- meaning "world, home"). The word "Bohemian" was never used by the local Czech (Slavic) population.[ It was not until the 19th century that other European languages began to use words related to "Czechs" in a deliberate (and successful) attempt to distinguish between Bohemian Slavs and other inhabitants of Bohemia. The latter were mostly ethnic Germans. So the name is misleading, if not fraudulent. the food is horrible, and it is nothing but a cheap trick dive college bar disguised as a legitimate German establishment. We will never frequent this establishment again, and we will make sure all of our German friends and acquaintances know to avoid this place at all costs. Do not waste your time if you are looking for real German food and culture.

Pretty cool place. Definitely a different feel than anything else in Boulder. The large community tables work well and create a fun, laid back atmosphere.

It's rare to find a unique place in Boulder with soul! A place that take's you somewhere else. I love the atmosphere, free music, magicians, comedy shows and especially a beer with a proper pour. My favorite things to eat are the Goulas with pretzel dumplings, the bacon stufffed pretzel dumplings, and the pickled cheese. I like that I can go in by myself and always meet someone new or with a large group and have a big enough table to sit at. Nothing like it around.

Arrived on a Saturday around 5:30. Place was packed and there were babies crawling on the floor with people literally having to step over them. I guess that means it's kid-friendly, if your kid can tolerate the too-loud-to-talk-over music, which mine surely could not. The big tables did look friendly, though. Husband and I sat outside where it was quieter but chilly. The small table on the patio was rustic to the point of not being flat on top; beer glasses had to be placed carefully or they would slide off. That's after you obtain beer, which we did by sitting at a table for 5 minutes completely unnoticed, then going back inside, helping myself to a menu from a nearby table, and standing conspicuously in the middle of the room looking around for a server. Finally I nabbed one who was about to walk past me and asked if there was table service on the patio. She kindly followed me right outside and took our drinks order, returned for our food order, and checked on us a few times. Service was still not without hitches. My weisswurst and fries arrived about 10 minutes before my husband's curry wurst. Then when his food did arrive he had to call the server back for utensils. Each time she brought something, she stood in the doorway and stretched her arm in our direction, as if she was just too busy to walk all the way to our table. She was friendly enough but clearly either very disorganized or very overburdened, or both. The impression of not having enough wait staff was not helped by the cluster of 2 or 3 servers who were gathered around chatting on the patio this whole time. Perhaps they were all on break, but it doesn't inspire confidence. The decor, which many reviewers have admired, seemed kitschy and overdone to me. It looked like someone had taken the old Trilogy building and wrapped it in the "rural bierstube in the Austrohungarian Empire" skin. But it is different from anything else in Boulder, at least. The wursts were actually quite good and the fries were decent, a little on the oily side. The cheese platter was overpriced at $14 for a small wedge of Brie, two thin slices of something smoky, 2 thin slices of cheddar, a small clump of caramelized onions, 2 apple slices, and 5 walnuts, though at least it came with plenty of bread. The beer was good, though even there I have a quibble: no lemon slice in the Hefeweizen. Still, it was a pleasure to heft an authentic weizen glass again and husband enjoyed his half-liter stein of Maibock. In a nutshell, we'd come here again for a beer and a sausage after work, but would not expect much more.

This place is amazing. You will always meet new and fun people. The food, beer and music is unmatched in boulder. An amazing combination and when you add Kara and Pauli to the mix it gets even better. I see these two almost every time I'm in. They always say hi to me and my friends and make us feel welcome. The hospitality is GREAT! You will be able to find me here during lunch and almost every Friday and Saturday night. TRY THE PRETZEL!

I've been craving a place like this, and a friend had just waxed rhapsodic about it, so my expectations were a little high. I'd like to mention that I'm writing all this in hopes that they'll work out the kinks because I'd like this to be a regular spot for me. We went around 6pm on a Thursday night; it was PACKED. We managed to find an open spot at the community tables in the front room--it then took about 15 minutes for anyone to even greet us or take our order (we actually had to flag the waitress down.) The servers didn't appear to have a very reliable method for checking on new parties, since the seating is community, it's not obvious when there's a new party (especially since there is not hostess.) They really need to work on this--it's not a great way to start out the night. When we finally were waited on, the beers and food we ordered. The draft selections were yummy, a nice change from traditional Colorado microbrews (which I love, but it's nice to change it up). Our waitress was nice, and seemed somewhat apologetic about the service issues. The pretzel we ordered was kind of cold, like it had been refrigerated, but the mustard was delicious. I was a little disappointed because the menu says the pretzel will be served "with house made mustards," as in plural, but we only received one, and had to ask for more. But once we got to sample them all--they were all delicious. The charcuterie plate was good--very European, so make sure you're okay with headcheese! Not enough bread is served with it, and we had to pay to get more (we had a lot of paté leftover that'd we'd otherwise had to have eaten with a spoon.) The atmosphere is really great, and the music was loud but I like loud. I'll go back, and hope they've worked out the service issues in the meantime.

You know I love the service here and the ambiance is SO perfect, but really even for Boulder this place is out of hand on prices! $6.95 FOR A COLD TINY PRETZEL. Unreal really. I don't mind 9 bucks for a brat with no sides but I feel like I can't return because of the rip off on what is essentially bread. That thing should be $2.50 tops.

The Biergarten was awesome traveling through town and met person who had been before. So I had to check it out! I had the weiswurst and fries with a ice cold beer. Surprised to see the owner encourages dancing on the tables making for a lively atmosphere.

Love this place. The beer is incredible and a unique option in Boulder. I think the staff are friendly and the crowd here is always interesting. Definitely one of the best bars in Boulder. Downside: the music has been louder than normal the last couple times I've been in, and the biergarten isn't open and can get a little stuffy. BUT they have a lot of great music and comedy shows all the time.

Yawn. Beer's OK, but this bar is pretty consistently full of jerks. Bartenders are jerks, servers are jerks, even the customers are a little iffy. I don't honestly know why people are so crazy about this place. The bartenders are borderline incompetent (one actually gave my credit card to someone else once). Seriously, the service is straight up rude. I think they do it on purpose. If you are a tourist looking for the "Boulder feel" I'd say go somewhere else. Pearl Street Pub for example!

Mediocre food + horrible customer service by manager = #dontgohere Seriously, based on the way my friends were treated by their manager, this business does not deserve any support from our community until their daytime female manager is let go.

You'd think that having recently returned from a trip to Germany, I'd be tired of eating sausage and drinking German beer. Well, it's awfully presumptuous of you to think that. You don't know me. In fact, I was pretty happy to find this place just a block from my hotel, the perfect easy dinner option after a long flight from the east coast. The place isn't exactly brimming with ambiance, slightly dingy but I guess you could charitably say it has character, and it's probably not so different from an actual Bavarian beer hall. The long communal tables mean you can make a new friend or studiously ignore your neighbors, depending on your mood (or theirs). Our server was friendly and our beer and food came out quickly, just what you want in a place like this. The beer selection is decent if not extraordinary but the sausages are darned tasty, and my weisswurst/knackwurst combo with crispy fries washed down with half a liter of dunkelweizen hit the spot. Our warm pretzel with cheese sauce for a starter wasn't half bad either. Overall, a great place for a beer and some hearty fare, even if the restaurant itself isn't winning any beauty contests.

So I definitely have a love hate relationship with the Biergarten. I've had some pretty unpleasant run-ins one of the bartenders and my foodie sensations aren't wowed by the food but by the insistence of friends I always seem to end up here at least every few months. I agree with one of the previous reviewers that the crowd can be a mixed bag too. That aside - their backroom is a great place to have a private party. I've never hosted one there so I don't know the cost involved but I've been to a couple and the room lends itself well to keeping the party contained. The one really cool thing I like about this place is their Sunday night comedy show. I was here with some visiting family this past Sunday which just happened to be their Crom Comedy Festival. The cover was only $3 a person so we decided to stick around for the show and were thrilled that we stayed. The comedians were hilarious - my favorites that night were Ismael Loutfi, Greg Santos, and CJ Toledano. The host, Brent Gill, was great about keeping the show moving too. if you've never been to one - I highly recommend it! The show happens every Sunday night at 7pm and their 2 year anniversary is coming up on 6/14/15! Check 'em out! facebook.com/BoulderCome…

Great place for a German style brew, but watch out for systematic rip offs. I was shortchanged, and when I asked the manager and waitress, they knew exactly what happened and the amount before I explained. If it had been a mistake they would have asked for info. This was deliberate. Not a warm feeling on this visit.

On our accidental trip to Boulder, and many beer stops later, this was my favorite spot. I suppose because it's different - with so many local craft beer options, it was nice to just have a good ole dunkel or hefeweizen. AND they have das boot! The place came recommended by several locals who were so kind to point us to the right direction in our search for the next cold one. We happened to be there during happy hour, when they offer discount on beer ($1 off 0.5L, $2 off 1L - however I didn't see the bill so I don't know how much they were). A nice couple sat down next to us, and they ordered a bunch of food and they all smelled so good. And the boiled pierogi tasted fabulous (yes, they offered me one and I would never say no to such kindness). The potato pancake looked perfectly cooked - golden brown and crispy. Happy hour time (3-6:30pm daily) comes with a $12/$14 special for a 0.5L beer plus food (sausage/small palte or special sausage) Definitely worth a stop!

Such a random but great place in Boulder. Really good selection of beers and the front definitely is very true to its "biergarten" name. The random part comes when you wander towards the back - karaoke? It was awesome in a very weird way, but awesome nonetheless. Definitely recommend as a late night spot to grab the last few beers of the night. :)

Delicious beer, great atmosphere, horrifically rude and unfriendly bartender. I would never go back for that reason alone. When I approach the bar, smile and say "how are you?" the answer should never be "what can I get you?" It was downhill from there. If I were you buddy, I would take my man bun and go be miserable somewhere outside of the service industry. Wrong business for you.

Great beer, but a sexist business. I love the atmosphere and their beer but I've going since they opened and I've never once seen a female bartender. Go to any other bar on pearl and there's women working the bars equally but go here and women are only cocktail waitresses. Also the bartenders are often rude, as I had the experience multiple times of them throwing my change at me because it was a busy time.

Overpriced food. Sausages, kebabs, and the like ALWAYS come burned, or what they would probably call "charbroiled". I consider burned and I had to pick off the burnt bits. Potato pancakes are limp and lack crisp, except on the very edges. The pierorgies are doughy and taste like they came out of a freezer. The only thing I liked about this place was the pretzel. (though it was black and overcooked) That's truly it. And that was overpriced too. And they forgot to give me their special "homemade" mustard. They also mislabeled the majority of the boxes. I got the kebabs and the tzatziki sauce had a HAIR in it. It wasn't a long hair, but it was the size of a pubic hair. That is enough to make me NEVER want to order from here again. I don't like giving negative reviews but if there is a HAIR in my food, it's going on yelp. Maybe I should be grateful they forgot to include their special homemade mustard, in case they put pubic hairs in there as well.

Amazing sausage. Don't remember what it was called but it came with delicious fries and piping hot sauerkraut. Although I wasn't drinking, the selection of beers was awesome! Came by myself and sat at the counter but felt I was with family. Music perfectly fit the ambience. Wish they'd open in LA!

I love the feel of this place! The most German-feeling beer garden I've been to outside Bavaria. The decor is amazing with a vintage feel. Service is outstanding, plenty of seating, not too loud. I'm enjoying the Bohemian IPA. They have silent black and white films playing on a projector. Super hipster in a non-annoying/unpretentious way. The bartender John w long blonde hair is OUTSTANDING. Great service, great experience all around.

This place has a decent beer selection, but of the few times I have been here I can tell you, people are literally racist here. If you're a person of color (especially a man) expect to never be served or waiting a really long time for an obligatory hello. Today, my husband and I sat down at the bar, with our IDs out ready to go and order and the bartender literally avoided eye contact. Maybe she's busy, right? Wrong. Another customer say literally next to us and without hesitation, she went up to him to take his order and continued to ignore us. I would avoid a place with such bigotry, especially in a town that promotes and encourages diversity to be part of the culture. A huge step back for Boulder.

The Food: I love it. The brats are fantastic, and the frites are some of the best I've had in Boulder (admittedly, not really a challenge). When we bring friends from out of town, we always splurge on the sampler platter. The Beer: Definitely not the best selection around, but if German beer is your thing, you'll probably be OK. Fortunately, I love the style - and the fact that I can order my beer in a 1L boot, which is only $8 on Tuesdays. The Atmosphere: Not bad! I prefer to go here for happy hour, or earlier in the day, simply because I'm not the biggest fan of crowds. I've seen this place fill up in the evenings. They offer long wooden tables to sit at, which is great if you're with a large group (or just looking to make some new friends). I know they also hold lots of events in the evenings - a comedy night on Sunday, a trivia night on Tuesday, and some others throughout the rest of the week.

Germany game for the world cup = visit a Biergarten... luckily, Boulder offers a version of one without a passport and flight needed. I admit, this wasn't a typical day, but they handled the crowd fairly well and I enjoyed my game day. The food was ok, although a bit expensive for what you got... the beer came in large amounts and worked for a game. I haven't tried it during regular times, but may be back to check it out.

We went to this place when visiting CO for an ASU v CU football game. First, they serve their beers in large heavy steins which is really cool/unique. The beer list is amazing and the outdoor space is inviting and fun. If you have a big group, you need to check this place out!

Good beer, but they should honestly have cooks who are passionate or have some kind of knowledge about German/European foods. Maybe the food isn't made so sloppy during the day but in the evening it's put together pretty sloppy.

Nice place, good beer, fair prices, and nice atmosphere but I've had two bad experiences now. Once I was given a different appetizer than what I had ordered. Not a huge deal but not great either. The second bad experience happened recently. In explaining the credit card minimum, the large European bartender said some anti-Semitic comments. Coming from a European at an Octoberfest celebration at a German-styled beer garden, it was pretty appalling.

We were here for a Sunday lunch. The place is very much like a German wirtshaus with communal seating. Great selection (small but excellent) of craft and imported beers available in .5 and full liters. We were there with our 2 kids and shared the Bohemian platter which was a great selection of sausages, pretzel, fries (hand cut whole potato) and kraut. The table mustards were great accompaniments. Service was timely and friendly. Looking forward to visiting again.

So this was a really pleasant find. We went for the $8 das boot (for 1 liter of Bohemian IPA, what a deal!) and stayed for the wurts. Or the chicken & bacon shashlik, in my case. The entree came with some delicious apple BBQ sauce and fries and it was probably not a good idea to eat them all on top my beer, but it was worth it. The chicken seasoning was divine and convinced me that I made the right choice. My bf went all out and the Weisswurst w/a cup of the white bean & smoked bacon soup and was overly satisfied, so much so that I didn't have a chance of tasting it even if I wanted to (and I would have if I wasn't so preoccupied with my own). Basically...bier & brats FTW.

Cool place to grab a beer. We went here while it was snowing out, because what better than getting an ice cold beer when it's cold out right? Ha. Anyway, we shared a pretzel which if memory serves was the only vegan friendly thing on the menu. But, I'm not complaining. We went for a beer anyway. We were told they were having a great band that evening, but were unable to make it back for the show. The bartender told us that they were thinking of charging a $1 cover, but that wasn't certain. Wow. Nice and cheap! It looked like a great place to check out some music too.

I love this place! Really what's not to love? I'm surprised to hear so many complaints but then again this is my first bar in Boulder and Colorado so if this one's bad I'm expecting some really great places in the next 3 days. Food was good, ordered a kabob and fries. I had to give the fries away because I didn't want them to go to waste. Very friendly service! I only listened to the blue grass band in the back for a minute but they were really good. I can't think of the drink but it was hot spiced wine and really good. I really want to go back for a pretzel and sausage because they looked amazing. I will definitely return next time I'm in Boulder.

I don't recommend renting the back room unless you follow the following tips: 1) Make sure to have everything they promise you in writing and with you before your event 2) Do not schedule anything that begins at 4:00 - that's when they change shifts and there is no one around to help you. 3) Make sure you get a commitment for how many staff they are going to provide for your party - I basically got 1 bartender with a few people only who brought out the food at 5:15. 4) They are not event-planners, so don't expect attention to details - like having the name of your party correct on the sign in front, a staff member familiar with your arrangement available, general lack of organization. 5) Make sure you find someone who knows how to use the projector and sound system if you want to use them. Even though we tested the equipment days before, there was no one there the day of that knew how to turn on the projector. 6) They are not big on customer service - so when I called after our event to complain that the food was not brought out according to our agreement, the response was "I'll have to watch our CCTV to see what really happened" (note- this makes me feel more like a criminal than a customer) The back story: I have been to this place through several renditions over the years. I was hopeful that this place would survive as I love the back room for live music. My family went there the beginning of December and had a nice time in the back room and enjoyed a few platters, which I thought would be similar to the ones I ordered for my private party - I was mistaken. I rented the backroom from 4-7 with the understanding that it would be opened to the public at 7 but we could remain as long as we liked. We intended to be there for the duration of the evening since our friend was playing in a band that started at 10:30. I rented the backroom for my husband's 50th Birthday party which was designed to be an "open house" where people would be coming and going during the course of the evening so it was important to me that there would be food available from the beginning. It was not. In addition to the $800 I paid for the room, I paid $15 a person to have platters of food for 40 brought out for the duration of my party. At 4:50(as Erica confirmed from her CCTV viewing) pretzel pieces were brought out. I finally tracked down a manager who was supposed to be there at 4 (but was actually gone to take his girlfriend to the airport). I explained to him that we needed to have the platters come out. They finally did around 5:15, but Instead of being placed around the tables where people were sitting, they were all placed on the back table. No one knew the food was back there so I had to go around to everyone and direct them to the one table with all the food. I was also told that each platter would serve 2-3 people, so for 40 people, I was expecting somewhere between 13-20 platters. I got one table with about 8 "platters". 4 had sausages on them, 2 were french fries, a big salad bowl and a few dishes with sauerkraut and bacon wrapped dates. A while later, Aaron returned and admitted that he saw the agreed schedule but couldn't explain why his kitchen crew didn't follow it. He offered to take $100 off the food bill. At around 6:30 I noticed that papers had been placed on two of the tables that said "Reserved at 7:00" - that is fine but they picked the "food" table as one of those tables so at 7:00 there were other people sitting at our food table. It would have been better to have our food transferred to another table or to have a different table "reserved". Also a little customer service here would have been nice - like someone coming over to me or my guests and asking them if they would mind consolidating to one of the other tables. As the night went on, and our guests dwindled, I asked for our bill and was only presented with a total amount - no itemized bill. I told the bartender that I would not sign it without knowing what the details were, so he said he would get a manager. Then we waited, and waited...we finally gave up. As we left, we saw the manager hanging out at the front bar - I guess he was too busy to deal with a customer who just dropped around $3000 at his establishment. If I was the owner of this establishment, I would consider training on customer service based on my review and many others I have read on Yelp.

Good music, overpriced beer, and over-sized bartenders trying to take your wife home while your arm is around her. If you're in the service industry, you should respect your patrons. Three thumbs down.

This place is bad ass. I have been here on several occasions, during a night out on the town, for dinner, and just for a quick drink. For food, my favorite option here is the brussels sprout dish, but they also have a lot of great sausages, if you're into that kind of stuff check it out. But more importantly, for beer, they are a very European style bar with something like 8 or 9 beers on tap most of which are German, Czech or Austrian and they come in Liters or Half Liters. They always have something going on the back room at night. Sometimes it's just a German guy calling people up on stage, having competitions, making fun. Other times they have comedians, or movie night. Bottom line, if you are in Boulder, you should check this place out.

The food is comparable to dining in Prague. . The owner's Czech roots are demonstrated in this wonderful pub where the food is delightful, and the beer is fresh and cold and as equally as divine as the native appetizers and main courses. Thank you for bringing Boulder up to speed with a current and "home town" meal. I was impressed by the variation of beer, Czech liquors, and overall ambience.

We waited 30 minutes sitting at a table waiting for service. No one came so we just had to leave. Terrible service, would not recommend.

Excellent food! Seriously I've tried almost everything on the 5-page menu now, and I have not yet been disappointed. I lived in the Czech Republic for 6 years, and this is real Czech and German food. It's also the only place in town that serves real beer on tap, and has giant 1-liter glasses if you can drink that much. I can't. This place is super busy on weekend nights, so if you want to enjoy a nice tasty meal with a good beer, go during happy hour! They have great specials and there's always a place to sit.

Great service. Kind, attentive people who know a thing or two about beer. Didn't order food, so can't speak to that. A friend who got the burger said it was amazing, though! Beer is great if you're into German beers with a malty flavor. Space is great! An "old barn" filled with picnic tables... Right off pearl street, so don't expect a good seat if it's a weekend night-Jam packed!

Beer... Good selection and taste, atmosphere is good with nice rustic feel. The bartender brought over some beers and we asked him to put in a pretzel for us. Verbatim he says " well I'm bar tending today but a server will be back in 10 minutes or so and we'll get you taken care of" 25 minutes later I got a pretzel and a long awaited refill on my beer. Pretzel is good but not huge as stated, but homemade spicy mustard is truly traditional. Hopefully they don't read this while I'm here so I don't get spit in my next beer. ***update: so they were at 2 stars but they've made amends and the waitress (Daisy) here is killing it. Very attentive and sweet. So they've made 4 stars!

Great place! It's a novelty kind of tavern, really great culture. Love the beers and the pork and beef combo sausage is my favorite. The potato pancakes are also pretty awesome.

If you can't afford to take a Euro trip to Prague, save the plane ticket and come to this Bohemia pub instead. Get a boot full of Czech Bier and enjoy some Futbol on the large TV projector.

I don't understand the low rating for Bohemian Biergarten. My servers were friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable! The beer selection exceeded my expectations. I had the Warsteiner Dunkel and Ayinger Doppelbock. Despite just eating breakfast, I had to try the pork jäger schnitzel. Sooooooo good! I commented that there really wasn't enough of the mushroom sauce, and of my servers brought me more! The owners have done a wonderful job of creating an authentic environment and vibe. It would have been perfect if the rest of Pearl Street would just rebuild in olde world architecture to provide a great view for the outdoor seating! :) I am definitely looking forward to returning to try the pretzels, sausages, cheese tray, and more beer!

If you're looking to eat, maybe don't pick this spot. But if you're looking for a drink with a nice atmosphere, I would recommend it. Drinks are good but the staff is GREAT! Check it out if you're looking for a fun evening

This was my first visit..and I must preface it was St Patricks day which brought out a "diverse" clientele but given that I really enjoyed this German themed tap house. I love the trend back to appreciating the Kolsch, Pilsner and Lager beers and the "BB" has a great selection of German and Eastern European Alternatives A full bar ..and a decent pub menu...had the Bier Brat ...which the have a number of variations as well as traditional German entrees...served with fries ...real sauerkraut( I'm not an expert but it actually was tasty) .... the food reasonably priced. The vibe was Octoberfest like by still warm and inviting ...the staff was friendly but my guess is they underestimated the crowd size and seemed to beef up staff as I spent more time there. Family style seating for the most part as well as the bar..the only inefficiency is how people stand at the bar and order drinks since the Taps face front ...I suggest sit a either side of the bar to avoid friendly pushing ..and nudging. As you know parking there is a bitch...but the beauty is it's Pearl Street..park where you can and the walk is always a treat...The Pearl Street area will always be a destination and as restaurants and bars cycle through..this one is a keeper.

Really enjoyed the vibe of this place (its really feels like Germany). The beer was great (served in .5 and 1 liter sizes). I wish they had more food options that werent beef and pork based. The other people I went with really enjoyed the sausages, fries and sauerkraut.

I think the food here is often missed by folks who are only in for the beer. Their food is really pretty good, and I never thought I liked German food! Highlights are anything with schnitzel and the curry wurst. The entrees are actually very reasonably priced and come with a lot of food for $10-$13. My husband and I can have 2 entrees, 2 beers and share a dessert and still get out of there for around $45. Not bad for downtown Boulder. Our service has always been pretty good, although one time recently we arrived when the place was rather empty and had great service at first, but it slowly declined as the room filled up. I'm pretty sure there was one server for the entire front half of the restaurant. By the end we had waited 20 minutes just to get our tab and finally went up and asked the bartender to ring it in. Still, our food has always arrived quickly and the servers and bartenders have been super nice. They lose one star for the giant community tables (just a terrible idea) and the abysmal selection of music. I would take polka music over some of the crap I've heard coming out of those speakers, and it's always a little too loud. Still, overall a big thumbs up for this place!

Hey, this is my first Yelp review! So I lived and studied and worked in Austria and Germany, so I'm pretty snobbish about this style of food. I came here for lunch today with my office-mates. It was pretty quiet at noon, and I was pleased to find long, German-style, community tables. My group took up a whole table. The menu has a lot of choices on it, most of which had my mouth watering. We started with the Pierogie Platter, which comes with three types of pierogies, enough for everyone. Of course, we couldn't figure out which was which without just trying them, so I missed out on the potato pierogies, which are the type I would generally prefer. The pork pierogies and the spinach/feta pierogies were interesting, but not what I would have chosen if I were just ordering for myself. Also, they came out fried. Apparently, you have a choice of boiled or fried, but I didn't know that, because I've never seen a fried pierogie. And apparently everything is fried in soybean oil, so I'm probably going to suffer for my choice. Next time, I'm going to be sure to order them boiled, as they should be. They have a selection of "special" sausages, which include a "Jackalope" which is rabbit and antelope. I love rabbit and I love antelope, so I figured it would be pretty good, but I asked about it anyway. The waitress (who was great!) explained that it was mostly pork, with rabbit and antelope. That's fine. What she did NOT explain, was that it was ridiculously spicy, to the point where it could have been pretty much any kind of meat, and I'd have never known the difference. The sauerkraut it came with was tasty, and the pretzel bread was fantastic (though I would have preferred the whole pretzel, rather than just a little slice). I substituted spaetzle for fries, but I probably shouldn't have done that. The spaetzle were a little soft and mushy and bland for my taste (though admittedly, I was taste challenged after the sausage). The fries were had by some of my colleagues, and looked pretty good. Fresh cut, not too thick. While my personal meal was probably only 2 stars, the general consensus was very positive, with the jaegerschnitzel and white bean and smoked bacon soup being well liked. I am going to try it again, and make sure to order the pierogies boiled. And eat more of the pretzels, which are, by themselves, worth the visit. After I've sampled a few more things, I will potentially revise my rating.

My server was just the right type of friendly and very knowledgeable about the food and drinks. Loved the atmosphere and delighted with the food choices. A fave for a casual meal.
