Tucked into the King Soopers plaza, I may never have found this place if it weren't for the amazing smells wafting into the intersection of 30th and Arapahoe when I was stopped at a light. When a friend told me that they had the best lentil soup around, I knew I had to try it. Bombay to Bali seems to have a wide variety of cuisines from Indian to Nepalese and Indonesian but I had been craving good Indian food, so that's what we went for. The coriander, tomato and tamarind chutneys were flavorful and spicy, perfectly matched for the complimentary pappadums. Better yet was the Mattar Paneer, a cheese and pea dish which was presented in a generous portion. But my favorite was the vegetable korma, savory and complex with a little more spice than your average korma. I think their "medium" is a true description for the American palate. I hear they have a great lunch buffet for 9.95 and I would be curious to try their Nasi Goreng. I can't speak for the service on a regular night - I was there on a Monday and we were just about the only folks in the restaurant. My server was friendly and the food came in a reasonable amount of time - it's a big place, though and could get backed up. The ambience was much nicer than I expected from the outside - there are private tables in cubbies where you can take off your shoes, and there are also standard tables in that sterile decor that you might find in Little India in LA. I'll definitely be going back to see if it's always that good.
