Stopped in for dinner without reservation. Got there early enough to be seated...Calamari, wine, salad, soup, and entrée very good...Service not good..After we got our food slapped in front of us, we were like invisible (no one asked how eveyrthing was or if we needed anything, etc. We had to flag someone down to get our check. I almost always tip minimum 20% (first time since I can remember left 12% (still too much). Service is huge and probably won't return because of it..

Service was OK, food was OK. I don't think the staff knew anything about wines. The patio space was amazing and so relaxing. We didn't feel rushed, and the salad was actually more than pale romaine lettuce! Might come back if we're in town.

Great food, great service and friendly staff. Stopped by about 8pm on a Friday night an wondered what dinner would be like. The restaurant décor is somewhat dated and the menu is very traditional; but what they do, they do well. My wife ordered the Eggplant Parmesan, which was a very hearty helping. Thin layered slices of eggplant, marinara and mozzarella; perfectly seasoned and cooked, not mushy. I ordered one of the night's dinner specials, grilled lobster tail and ribeye steak. Also wonderfully seasoned and grilled. The service was fast and staff very friendly. The tiramisu looked very good, but we couldn't eat another bite. Next time...

We were just strolling around Berthoud, and found this great place. Excellent sauces. Really nice mushroom soup with pancetta. I had spaghetti alfredo with chicken. The chicken had distinctively spiced flavor; all too often restaurants add plain chicken as an afterthought. My wife got ravioli with breaded eggplant, and found it excellent. She also reports that the tiramisu was uniquely good. It's a short drive from Longmont, and we'll be back.

Went here for dinner yesterday. Very friendly staff. The place was not too busy. The calimari app is Wonderful. Try it! My Eggplant Parm was excellent. Wine selection was limited. (But the Primitivo we had was good.) Only downside of our dinner was the $3 upcharge for a caesar salad with dinner. The salad was good, but not a value. Overall: We liked dinner here! Roger S.

Great place to linger and enjoy a home cooked Italian meal. Very down home and simple. Great food. Good service. Prices are on par with chain Italian places.

Wish I could be more complimentary of this place, but I can't. Cozy, quaint place with friendly staff near City Star (which is why we went). I had what was alleged to be Veal Marsala. At good Italian places elsewhere, that has generally been thin-sliced, but exceptionally tender veal is a red wind reduction sauce, along with fresh sautéed mushrooms. Here, the "veal marsala" more resembled chicken-fried chicken. Thick, chewy meat, breaded, covered by a nondescript yellow cream sauce and one (count it, one) mushroom hiding in the sauce. My wife had Spaghetti Bolognese, which was a little better, but nothing to write home about. This place was worth a try, but not a return visit.

Attentive and friendly service, ordered surf and turf. The lobster was perfectly cooked! Outstanding! The steak was not as stellar as the lobster but a very fine meal indeed. It's not a crazy gourmand restaurant but a reasonably priced family run American Italian restaraunt with homey comfort foods. The eggplant parm is yummy as well. We will be back.

My wife and I had diner at this establishment tonight to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. It came highly recommended. We sat on the patio, my wife had the clam chowder ,I had a salad. She said the chowder was very good, my salad was OK but the blue chesse dressing was nothing special. My rib eye was good and my wife had the salmon which was good too . The bread is so small in diameter it was like an over sized bread stick which was barely edible due to its thick crust all around . I had been told by the lady in charge (short blond curly hair) that while they offered nothing special in the way of celebrations , she said if you order a desert she'd put a candle in it and embarrass us a little bit .... Ok if thats it bring it on ..... Our cake was OK, but no candle , no happy anniversary, no NOTHING . On the way out I reminded the lady in charge that there was no candle , so she said Happy Aniversery to me in the hall way from the patio into the building . WOW Really, I didn't say a word. Very disappointing. ... maybe we'll be back on our next 35th ..... yea sure ! Gary

I've been eating here since Sue and Tom opened and it has been really good every time. A friend from Fort Collins brought his wife for dinner after we had lunch(only open for dinner now). A friend from Loveland stopped for a meal and to collect a quart of marinara sauce he specially ordered in advance, since he liked it so much. Check the specials, oh boy. Soups, whoa! The house Chianti is my usual. Ahhh. I have also hosted two Christmas parties in the back room. Everyone had fun and a satisfying meal. We are lucky to have this place in Berthoud! :-)

Had the Cioppino (lobster, shrimp, crab, clam) and it was delightful! A half of a whole small lobster! Man child (16yo) had the beef ravioli with shrimp added, his word, "Fantastico". Yes, hard to find small town hospitality like this in a small town atmosphere. Will be back!!!

A great Italian restaurant in this sleepy, quaint town. Very friendly wait staff, quiet atmosphere, and they were very gracious as we didn't realize we had been there well past closing time. We went on a Sunday, and they offer brunch along with the regular lunch menu. I had a caesar salad (great dressing,) and lobster bisque, which was very tasty. My lunch date had lobster ravioli, which was also quite a treat. Definitely a place to revisit.

We arrived on a Tuesday evening... Not busy. Service was friendly and prompt. Wine fairly priced with nice selection. The room has a very old smell that I don't like...consider changing carpet out and a rigorous cleaning of all surfaces is needed. The salads were served with way too much dressing. The dressing was not homemade and was not tasty. Bread was white... Ordinary. Our dinners: eggplant Parmesan, Alfredo, spaghetti bolongase, and chicken Marsala were good. The chicken was deep fried or at least had that appearance. Not the expected prep. Forget GF here. They do have a beef option or salad... Yawn. Why not GF pasta or risotto? Limited choices for sure for anyone not wanting pasta. Prices good. So a decent, not exc meal with good service in an old room that needs a fresher smell and house made salad dressings served correctly.

I drive by this place twice a day on my commute and had been wanting to stop and try. We were planning on spending the day in Estes but good old crazy CO had a snow storm coming this last day of April so we opted to not go up the MTNS. We spent a few hours walking around Berthoud instead and decided to try this place. No it's not a fancy Italian place but more of a home-style place. We started w/ the garlic bread, EXCELLENT choice. Perfectly toasted and flavored, good sauce to dip in. I also had the soup of the day mushroom brie. This was so delicious, not to heavy and over filling. If you like mushroom flavors you'd agree. My entree was pasta rosa which was very simple and yummy. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly al dente. i washed this all down w/ a nice smooth Cabernet. I am very picky about my sauces (which is why I make my own) and both the rosa sauce and sauce for bread were delicious, I also tasted husbands sauce and liked it. He had the 3 cheese ravioli and meatballs. He said they were very good, and w/ as quick as his meal disappeared I know he wasn't lying. I will surely return here. I only wish the small town I live in nearby had a place like this there. (one tires of burgers and burritos only)

Overpriced for mediocre food. Was very underwhelmed. Ordered their Lobster Ravioli. Paid $18 for three Ravioli that i could of bought at costco. On one positive note, their soup is good

After telling ourselves we should try this place, 3 months after they open we finally did. Bonus: I still get "first to review"--benefits of living in a small town. Homey and cozy, the bones of the restaurant are still the same, but the feeling inside has definitely changed from its last incarnation. We order a couple of glasses of wine for the table, a Pinot Noir and a really delicious Riesling. A sweet white with Italian? yeah, I know. The menu started off as a bit of a disappointment, not a ton of offerings, and not even a lasagna was to be had. I reasoned that it must be because the dishes are homemade. That MUST be the reason. Garlic bread, and Calamari to start. We challenge the friendly owner on the calamari, telling her it's our gold standard; we've sent orders back before, we've had it all over the US. Her fiesty comeback was "I'm not afraid". Both dishes were excellent. The Garlic Bread was a generous order had a good crunch. Served with a dish of marinara. The calamari had good texture and a well seasoned breading. It was also served with a side of marinara, something I'm not all that fond of on my calamari, but it is what it is. The burning question in the back of my mind was: How much of this stuff is homemade? Entrees on the table: Chicken Parmesan, Eggplant Parmesan, Chicken Marsala. I can only speak for the Eggplant Parmesan, but the other plates were picked clean at the end of the meal. My Eggplant Parmesan was served on a side of spaghetti with marinara. The eggplant had a nice crust on it even under the cheesy marinara. How'd they do that? The spaghetti got a tad bit watery, but the flavor was nice. I also ordered a side of sausage that was nice and flavorful. No room for dessert, but they offered cheesecake and tiramisu. I did finally ask the $64,000 question, and the owner told us that the sauces are homemade, the ravioli and pastas are sourced out. Am I disappointed that the food isn't homemade? Yes. Did I enjoy my meal? Yes. Will we be back? no doubt.

In Berthoud, this is as good as it gets! I've eaten at Nonna Bella multiple times since they opened and have always had a fantastic meal including a great assortment of wines. I highly recommend this place!

I love this restaurant. The food is always good and the service exceptional. The staff really cares about the quality and the customer's experience. I must admit, they served a fried oyster as a side with one of their specials and I thought I'd give it a try since I'm not a huge oyster fan. It was incredible! They did something right! I scan their specials to see when they will offer it again because I'm there!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
