We come here every chance we get! The location is convenient if you are staying up at Vallecito, and the food is consistently good. They even have live bands playing dinner on certain days. The atmosphere is a little outdated, but the food and the friendly staff make up for it.

My lady and I like this place, but it doesn't deliver 5-star across the board. This is an interesting lakeside restaurant that takes a lot of pride in it's meat and the preparation of it. We ordered the potato skins for an appetizer: cheddar cheese in THREE potato wedges with bacon and a tube of sour cream. Man, a tube of sour cream? No chives? THREE? C'mon, how about four for the price? It tasted good, but not amazing. I had the Reuben with house made patrami and it was really good. The pastrami was a bit salty, but that's a house-made cured meat. It was very good despite the extra salt bite and paired well with the bread, dressing, and kraut. The fresh potato chips were good, too. The lady had... well damn I forgot. I was too engrossed in my sandwich. I am not even going to bother asking her. Had to drink a Shock Top... eh, ok... not bad, but not a single IPA in the whole establishment. Get with the times, please. IPA's are a standard these days. The rest of the menu is PRICEY steaks. They seem to know their meat at the joint. On Sundays the real treat is the brunch. The buffet is worth the price and a lengthy and methodical visit. Very good, cured meats and pasteries, eggs, breads, etc... Service was friendly with a new waitress. She was just fine. The Bartender was just fine. Nothing over the top or severely lacking. The Kitchen was slow on the appetizer and fast on the main course. Go for Sunday brunch above all else.

Steak was good, but not great .. service was ok. Overall, though .. we were happy to have a place like the Schank House in the Vallecito neck of the woods.

My wife and I went here for the first time last summer when our usual favorite spot was overcrowded. What a surprise! The food is really good. We both had the prime rib special the first visit. Excellent. We've been back several times and have had fish, steaks, fried chicken. All have been great. The service is very fast and friendly. The back porch has a great lake view. A great dining choice for Vallecito.

Monday night pot roast special a major yum, as is the walleye, a menu standard. And the Friday - Saturday night prime rib special is a huge bargain -- and really good. And our server, Lisa, was someone I won't soon forget -- warm, friendly, efficient, considerate. This place is worth a visit!

We love this place as it has still the same charm and atmosphere as it had 10 years ago when we first went there to eat while on vacation. We came back again this summer and once again it did not disappoint. The food was great and so was the service.
