For several years (ago) Pazzo's was our go-to place for take-out pizza. I endured the place and even put up with several instances of them forgetting to cook my pizza after receiving my phone-in order because the pizza was that good. It isn't any more. It's just average pizza with floppy crusts. Now my go-to take-out pizza joint is Gondola Pizza in Chapel Square.

Go to Pazzos in vail. Standards for service are much lower in Avon. Food took over an hour. Also, place seems to be a hangout for obnoxious locals!

Decided to go here after several locals raved about the place. Our friends arrived at 5:45 on Sat night with their 2 kids based on warnings about wait times. We arrived at 6 pm with 4 addl adults and 3 kids (11 total). We were seated in the back of the restaurant in the game room, perfect for entertaining while you wait for your meal. We ordered promptly and our apps arrived 15 mins later. Unfortunately our pizzas and pasta meals didn't arrive for another 1.5 hours. This is not ideal for 5 young kids. The waiter didn't even apologize for the wait time, just explained that they were busy. The pizza was definitely not as good as Blue Moose Pizza located in BC Village. Pros: casual atmosphere, walking distance to Comfort Inn, Sheraton, Westin, not overpriced, Vin 48, wine/tapas bar, is located next door.

    Good slices and cold beer.

Staff has a terrible, surly attitude and service is incredibly slow. We actually wrote out our party's order for the waitress. After waiting over an hour for our food, one of the pizzas did not come. The waitress then told us that the pizza had not been our written-out-for-her order (which it undeniably was). After she continued to argue with us about it, we asked for a manager. After 5 minutes without seeing a manager, we asked another waitress for manager. Several minutes later we were told that manager was too busy behind the bar and we would have to go up there if we wanted to talk to him. We were there at least another 30 min and the manager never came over. Then we were brought the check with nothing comped and 18% tip included. All that for pizza that's not that good. Also, we have had similar experiences at Pazzo's in the past with long waits, messed up orders, bad attitude and poor customer service. We will be going to Blue Moose for pizza from now on.

Oh yeah, one of my favorite pizzas on the area. If you order the Sicilian size either one piece or the whole pizza it will serve you very well, as well as the taste, it's very good, I totally recommend this one as one of the must try. Delicious!

This is a fine place for wings, and a beer. The pizza is pretty good as well. The wait staff does a great job, and are very friendly. You wont break the bank, and will get some good food.

Pretty good pizza place in Avon for when you are up there skiing or snowboarding. One friend in Dallas raved about the pizza here so when saw one in Vail we stopped in, but the hour wait scared us away. We saw this one in Avon. Having been warned away from some of the other places by locals we decided to eat here even with the wait, about 30 minutes. It was hard to get on the list. There was a woman walking around the crowded restaurant with a list. We were lucky to catch her early. She looked like another customer I wouldn't of known otherwise. The pizza was pretty good, but didn't live up to all raves I'd heard about it in Dallas and CO. Still, it warmed us up. I'll go here again when I'm snowboarding next time.

Pretty good pizza. Crap service. Ugh.

Decent pies. I had the supreme and Roma both in thin crust. Crispy crust and decent quality toppings. Mozzarella sticks were decent too. We got our food in about 15 min but wasn't busy.

Great food! Perfect location... Just walking distance from many of the major resorts in Avon. Service was good, food was great. The pizza was very flavorful, and tasted authentic. The kids menu was only ok, and they were a bit stingy with the meat on the meat sauce. However, the pizza was so good, we felt like the 4 stars were still worth valid!

Tried to call in to place a to go order last night around 7:30PM. Line was busy. When we walked in to ask the gentleman at the counter told us that when the bar is full they pull the phone off the hook. He was right, right behind him the phone was off the hook. Odd for a Pizza place that probably does a lot of business by phone. Not sure if the owner is aware this goes on at his pizza place. Sounds like they do it regularly. That said the Pizza is decent but for the hassle of having to walk in to order then come back to pick up, no thanks.

We went to Pazzo's after a long day of skiing and were starving. The pizza and garlic cheese bread definitely did not disappoint. We loved the Azteca and ended up adding pineapple to it. This place is definitely what you would expect of a greasy pizza joint. Nothing we ordered could be considered healthy which is exactly what we were looking for that day. The only problem was the service. We were there around 2 in the afternoon and the place was empty. Our pizza took forever (I think it was wrong the first time) and when we talked to the server she was rude and short. I mean I understand that mistakes happen but just let us know and we'll be understanding. All in all though we'd definitely go back for pizza after a day of skiing.

We stopped in around 9:00 on a Saturday night. We waited for maybe 10 min before someone came to seat us. Which at that point we were seated immediately back in a corner of the restaurant. It was extremely warm inside so we asked if there were any tables outside and they immediately accommodated us. We started with cheese fries and the antipasto salad. Both were very good! The antipasto salad was enough for 2-3 people. We then ordered the Azteca and fagioli pizzas. The Azteca was excellent! The flavors of the jalapeño and cilantro, fresh tomatoes...delicious! We weren't as crazy about the fagioli. I think the ricotta cheese gave it a weird texture. The service was excellent, timely, especially taking into consideration the busyness of the restaurant. All in all a pretty good place to eat.

WARNING: Would not recommend for carry out! After reading multiple reviews of Pazzo's we decided to try it for carry out during March Madness. Tried to call order in repeatedly and got no answer. Had to stop in the place to order our pizza and was told one hour. Returned over an hour later and was told another five mins. Well that seems ok but it took another half hour with total time of over 90 mins! This all would not be so bad I'd it wasn't for the fact that all three of us felt it was "LESS THAN EVERAGE". The center was undercooked and watery. The toppings, other than the cheese, were scant.

My family and I ate at this place twice while in Avon. The first time we had the pizza and it was great. The service was also very good. The second time we had the chicken parmigiana and It was very good. However, we also had the lasagna and it wasn't very good and the service was really bad. We had mixed experiences.

  • Mark G.

Service was casual, as in the waiters were sitting at a table and come and check on you from time to time. Had the calzone, delicious. The pizza, I will nit-pick, didn't have a firm crust. To me that's the bellwether for good pizza. I suspect that the person working the oven hasn't mastered the art of knowing where the hot spots are in the oven. One needs to know when the stone has come back up to temp. However, the beer was good and cheap for happy hour. The place seemed popular. I'd wouldn't hesitate to go back, but I wouldn't make a special trip.

I don't know what all the complaints are about. Just ordered here at 10pm and it was awesome. Tasted very good and service was quick and easy. All 8 in our group loved it. Very good pizza.

So my last 5+pizzas have been near perfection and I thought it was time to give them their 5th star back. I've been bragging Pazzos is the best pizza my entire life and it is good to see they found the consistency it takes to deliver great food. I don't know if it is the altitude or the recipe but truly are the best.

worst service I have experienced in Colorado. We should have walked out when after 1.5 hours our pizza was nowhere in sight. The workers are the worst.

Really disappointed. My party is a group of 17. We sat ourselves and we weren't greeted for about 10 minutes. The tables were set up but hadn't been wiped down well enough and we had to ask our waiter to wipe it down, which he did with annoyance. We also waited a really long time for our water and for our food- the waiter honestly couldn't care less about servicing us, even though it wasn't busy at all. They also screwed up one of our orders, and while they gave it to us on the house it was just another disappointment. The food itself was good, I ordered the chicken tenders and they were tasty but very thin and dry, although the sauce made up for that.

  • Ei s.

Place is dirty, we were sat at a table that still had plates from previous party. I asked if it could be cleaned waitress stated it might be a while since they were short staffed. Waitress was rude and they had no hostess for the busiest week of ski season. Left and went to Gondolas - we had great service, good food and restaurant was clean. Just a side note - we had visited pazzos the year before it was crowded some foul language from some of the guest but the pizza was good.

  • Matt M.

Best pizza in the valley and good drink deals as well. No wonder why it is packed. We often call ahead and pickup. My advice is order an extra pizza - everyone loves it and the leftovers are amazing the next day. Garlic bread - at least one order for every 3 people.

  • Bob H.

Pazzo's pizza is good, but not great. The restaurant was packed when I was there on a Saturday night, and it took 50 minutes for my carry out order to be ready. I tried to call in my order but the first time the line was busy and the second and third times no one answered the phone. They didn't offer green olives or banana peppers, both of which are great on pizza. Their pizza's aren't cheap either, but they do offer three sizes.

Right in the middle of Vail Village, this place has everything you could ask for in a pizza place. Great pizza, super fast service, very friendly staff, and perfect for families. I recommend the figioli pizza. Sooo good!

  • Josh P.

Pazzo's is a good old school pizza joint. Can get crowded, and can be a little slow even when it's not crowded. Have a few beers and be patient. Or call ahead, perhaps for carry-out.

Bad customer service. The people who work here don't care about much of anything. By the way, they don't deliver.

Weary from the road, Pazzo's did not disappoint. Generous portions, great quality, and value not expected in a resort town. Next time I'm traveling through Avon hungry, I'll will certainly return.

I love their Azteca Pizza. Wings are great here too! Convenient and close to the grocery store! Friendly service. I've only been for lunch but I come here whenever I'm in town. Love it :)

Great pizza. Had a small pizza 1/2 Azteca and 1/2 Figoili very good choice. A recommendation by waitress. Her favorite and customer favorite. Was even filling enough for 2 people.

As a local, my favorite salad in town! The Greek salad with Grilled, very deliciously seasoned, chicken on top. Very very yummy. As for the pizza, im not a pizza lover, but i have found myself enjoying a slice or two every once in a while. But the salad... yum yum!

I'm giving this a 5 star experience because while I waited quite a while, I understand that this place is a hot commodity and having snowed all day, there were many people asking for a drink and a nice hot pizza. Needless to say, the place was slammed. We waited about 45 minutes but this particle restaurant wasn't exactly built for parties more than 4. We were accommodated at a small table but made do as we were all starving due to "our hard work" all day. We were promptly greeted and we ordered beers. When the beers arrived, our waitress took our food order as well and shortly after brought us plates and napkins. We didn't have enough plates and half of our napkins were dirty but we simply asked for more once our pizza arrived and we received them promptly. The atmosphere was great. Or maybe our friends are just that amazing. I would highly recommend this place because my time there will not soon be forgotten.

Ordered 2 pizzas and wings for carryout. He person that took my order was courteous and was helpful. Ordered a Azteca, Cabo Pazzo and chicken wings. All were excellent and would definitely recommend this place.

This place is AWESOME! We alway enjoy Pazzo ' s when we are staying in Avon. Tonight was great. They were slammed (it is a holiday weekend so that was to be expected) so we ate at the bar. Chad was awesome and made sure we had everything we needed even though he was super busy taking care of the bar and all the to-go customers. The food was awesome. We usually get pizza but we opted for sandwiches and they were amazing. Prices were very reasonable too. Bottom line - if you are in Avon and want some pizza, go with Pazzo's.

    (5)
  • Cary S.

Good pizza but not great. LOUSY customer service: waited 10 min sitting at bar for someone to ask me if I wanted anything. Note to mgmt: if your crew is too busy doing shots to ask customers with empty glasses if they want another drink, you have a problem. In the hour that I was there, I saw the crew do 2 rounds of shots, lose 1 order, switch 2 other orders, and spill customers' drinks when they threw a hot tray on the counter. I honestly felt like I was in an episode of "Mystery Diners" waiting for the owner to come in and break up the kids at play.

I'm from NYC, and in my opinion Pazzo's is the best pizza in the Vail valley. The wings are also good (the best I've found so far in town) and are a happy hour special. Plus they usually have Sam Adams on draft! I frequent the Avon location, but have been the the one in Vail Village and it's just as good.

What a disappointment. Grew up going to Pazzos. I return ten years later and get the worst service. Won't be back.

  • Toni D.

I actually found this place on Yelp. The reviews were all really good so I knew I would like it here. Great happy hour specials! I ordered buffalo wings from the Happy Hour menu and the medium size with lots of toppings: green peppers, sausage, pepperoni, onions, olives and probably some other stuff that I cant remember. The pizza was a little over cooked but I didn't mind because I actually prefer my food this way. The waitress was nice enough to ask us if the pizza was acceptable over cooked. I don't eat the crust so it wasn't a big deal. The pizza was very good! and I'm sure I'll be going back the next time I'm in town. Trust the reviews on this place.

After spending a lovely week skiing with my family and enjoying hospitality and first class service in and around Beaver Creek, we decided to order in pizza from Pazzo's and we were shocked by how rudely we were treated. We went to the bar to order takeout and the dirty looking dude at the register laughed at us, told us the food would take 2 hours, and rudely sneered, "this ain't April, ladies". I have lived here for 20 years and was appalled. There are lots of restaurants to choose from in Avon, give this one a pass.

Great pizza...crust, sauce and toppings were all spot on. The smell from their pizza oven is worth the visit alone. However the service was just so so, especially around busy times.

    (4)
  • Chris K.

Solid pizza but not the best I've had. Really good sausage (hehe). Really liked the wings as well but got them extra crispy. All and all the best pizza in Avon. Stay away from Ticino unless you don't enjoy food

  • Eric S.

The pizza is absolutely amazing. Me and my girlfriend drove up there to celebrate an anniversary, and the staff (waitress, cook, bartenders) were so accommodating and friendly. We also get an extra pizza to go.... just love everything about it.

After traveling to Avon from Sydney Australia (20 something hours later) the beer and Sicilian crust style pizza was great. The serving for the 2 of us as a half size was huge. We had the Azteca which was delicious especially with a little added Chilli. No doubt we will be back before we leave.

  • Arlene B.

Great food, reasonable prices and large portions. I had rigatoni and marinara sauce ($9.95) and it was delicious. The Greek salad and dressing was very good also. My husband had chicken Parmesan and really liked it. The portions including the salads were extremely large so I had dinner for two night. Even my husband couldn't finish his and that is unusual. I would highly recommend and want to return before we leave town.

Pizza and food in general is pretty darn good. Service is feast or famine. We had a good server and the service was on point. We got there about 5 pm so we didn't have to wait. Cheese Bread is money.

3 Stars is A-OK and that's about all I can give Pazzos Pizza in Avon. We had a group of 10 on a Friday. They said it would be 45 minute wait.....so we waited, for an hour. At an hour, they said it would probably be another 45 minutes. They kept seating smaller groups who arrived after we did, so we knew that we were not going to get seated. We offered to break into 2 smaller groups, still no luck. This is when the hostess told us that once we were seated, it would be about another 45 minutes to get our pizza. At this point, we decided to order to-go. This did in fact take another 50 minutes. In the end, they forgot one of the salads. The pizza is A-OK. Nothing that great. It's thin crust pizza.......very thin, a little soggy, not crisp except for the outer ring. They don't put much cheese on the pizza, and how could they with a crust paper thin. Holding 3 large pizzas with one hand, combined they were lighter than one pizza from Beggar's or even Giordano's (thin). If all these people writing reviews think this is the best pizza in the valley, well you all must have a pretty limited perspective. If this is the best.......sorry for all you folks in Vail and Beaver Creek. A-OK on the pizza. Had they tried a little harder to get us seated in under 90 minutes, I may have considered 4 stars.

  • Kate G.

This is really delicious pizza and not just considering it's up at super high altitude! The crust was perfectly chewy yet soft (more airy than dense), not greasy and didn't get soggy under the weight of the toppings in spite of how large and generously topped our pies were. Our two larges were not cheap - a little over $60 for both - but they were so good, I didn't mind. We had some sort of pepperoni-sausage extravaganza and a plain old pepperoni and fresh mushroom which is what I tried. Two huge slices had me stuffed. If I could get my dough to rise up in the mountains, maybe I'd make my own pizza but until then I'm happy to order it from places like Pazzo's who can make a good-textured and good-tasting crust with a hint of herbs and saltiness. I prefer this to the other crappy pies I've had around town that serve up a crust that is more like a pastry or a biscuit. Even though we picked up take-out, the pizzas were warm when we got home and the toppings were not a mess, they were still neatly arranged and in place. The leftovers reheated well too.

  • Dave L.

The hangout for locals with a lively bar scene. We got takeout and it was hot and ready on time. We actually got everything but pizza--lasagna, chicken parm, chicken wings and so on. Portions were huge and filling. The pizza looked great too. Not as good as a regular sit-down Italian restaurant but cheap and easy.

    (4)
  • Matt D.

The pizza here was good, but not excellent. I say not excellent because it was a little too floppy. I like my crust to be a touch crispy. But, still very good & for sure would go here again. Service was excellent. Only complaint was the garlic bread was just cheesy bread, didn't really have a garlic taste to it.

  • Shari Y.

Pazzo's is the sh*t. The food is fresh. The calzones are the real deal. The pizzas are tasty. And the staff have great stories to share about obnoxious drunks and rude patrons. I recommend sitting at the bar because you can watch them make your pizza. It can get busy here so be patient.

Awesome pizza in Avon. Good selection of toppings. Great local staff. Central location in town. Just wish they would deliver!! They have outdoor seating for when it is a nice day outside.

  • George M.

Real disappointment! Most of the staff could care less ( unless you're a local ) 1-1/2 hrs after we ordered pizza we walked out, especially after observing 2 tables that came after us get theirs. The waiter although he was nice was clueless and asked us after 45 minutes if we ordered pizza? I knew we were in trouble when I observed employees walking out of the restrooms that were completely disgusting. Now I know this place is capable of producing a decent meal because we enjoyed one from them in 2014 but this time after inviting another family to join us NEVER AGAIN. Yes the place was busy but seriously almost 2 hrs for a pizza when I had my 6 year old crying that she hadn't eaten. At that point we went to the bar to ask for the manager and pay for what we have received and 2 locals wanted to fight us. Real lowlife enticing me to fight him in front of my kids. Keep your okay pizza, horrendously slow service, dirty restaurant and lowlife local bar patrons. I'll find a new pizza place for our ski vacation

As a long time local I love the pizza at Pazzo's. What was especially impressive last weekend, was the manner in which Eric, who was bartending, managed a relatively difficult situation with class, style, kindness and respect. Because of him, I will frequent the establishment more often. He gets 5 stars in my book!

Man! I forgot to check in here while I was there...but wanted to leave a quick review! The pizza was Super tasty!!! Everyone enjoyed it, we got two large pepperoni and sausage pies for seven people....little did we know each large could have easily fed a small village!!! Great choice for takeout after a long day on the mountain! Our boys really loved it!

Never planned on going here but upon receiving a gift card, I went with a girl friend. It's in a cozy little part of Vail near the ice rink in Lionshead. The inside decor isn't much to rave about in my opinion but the food was great. For $50, the value of the gift card we ordered two beers, two small spinach salads and a 12" autumn pizza, and the tip. The salads were delish and the pizza to die for, yum! It was topped with cremini mushrooms, parsley, Parmesan, garlic, truffle oil, olive oil and goat cheese. I can't wait to go back and try more but I might just stick with the autumn pizza!

Pazzos is a place I will go back to with the family. The kids loved the pizza, the waiter was on point and service was pretty quick even though the place was crowded and busy. I enjoyed the atmosphere, the people are very down to earth no snooty wootys here. Just regular folks, enjoying some great conversations along with some good food. My kind of spot.

Great pizza and salads. Nice variety of interesting ingredients. Fun, relaxed atmosphere. We enjoyed the pizza so much that we went back for carry-out 2 days later. They are usually busy so expect a wait. That may annoy some but for me it's just a sure sign of a great place.

We showed up at 10:29pm on Saturday night after the carnival. I made sure we could get service since the kitchen was closing at 10:30pm and there were a few of us. They were nice about the whole situation. Our waitress, Angela, was very nice despite the fact that we came in so late. The food was great and fresh, we ordered pizza, chicken parmesan, and wings.

So the fam and I are on a getaway in Vail for the week. Our first day here we were a bit tired from the drive and such so we decided to grab a pizza and relax. Passo's was close and I read some good reviews from other Yelpers about their food. As soon as we walked in and asked the guy behind the bar if we seat ourselves I had concerns. The reply was "whatever". OK, no biggie, we just found a place to sit. So, I order up a beer while we decide on what to have for dinner. Beer took forever to come and the kids were getting restless by the time we ordered the food. Food took forever to come as well but I will have to say that it was amazing. We had a Philly Cheese steak, Hot Italian sub and a Calzone. We all just sampled part of each others food and honestly the subs were the best I had in years. So, the waitress drops the check off but never came back and I couldn't see here anywhere in the place. After 15 minutes I went on a search for her, found her, outside smoking a cigarette. When I asked her is she forgot us she said no, took another huge puff off the cig, dropped it on the ground, stomped it and said she would be back in a minute. Really!?! We reflected our disappointment on the tip. After we made it back to the condo I looked at more reviews and I see that others agree about the poor service. If you need something to go I'm sure this place is great, if you want to dine in you should skip this one. Ticino is just around the corner and looks great...

In Avon? Want Pizza? You are the target demographic. Your service is going to be on mountain time, so please don't be in a hurry. But, the food is legit for the most part; wings are acceptable, drinks are up to snuff, and pie is as good as anywhere else in the valley. Some folks absolutely RAVE about the pie... I have come to the conclusion that this is because the valley lacks an absolutely knockout pizza joint. Pazzo's is local, fresh, and decent- that is all. Calzones. That is what you want here. Worth the wait and will fill you to the gills.

Decent for mountain food but garbage compared to the North East. 3 stars locally, would be 1 star in Boston. Just not that good.

Best pizza in the valley. Sure, it's no Vito and Nick's, but if you stray from the south side, you take what you can get. And Pazzo's ain't bad. Always hopping with a fun crowd, a mix of locals and the apres ski set trying to get their drink on. The staff is super friendly, and you can sit at the bar and watch the pros twirling pies. The rest of the menu is good as well - I've had several of the pasta dishes and salads. Come for the pizza, stay for the atmosphere!

My husband and I have been coming to Avon/Vail for about 13 years and just tried Pazzo's for the first time. Pretty basic, local joint- nothing fancy to look at. Outdoor patio is a plus. We had Happy Hour wine and shared a greek salad and medium pizza that was half cheese and half other veggie option- I don't remember the name, but it had no-tomato sauce with olive oil, onion, garlic, white cheese, fresh basil and fresh tomatoes. YUM! We were SO happy and ate every bite! The salad was fresh and had a nice greek dressing. And, the pizza was much better than we expected at a resort area! The crust was perfect- home made- not doughy and a little bit crunchy. They have a great happy hour and lots of vegetarian options! Our server was very sweet and made great suggestions. We're sorry we didn't try this place sooner...

Pazzo's is the best pizza in the Valley and they take care of locals. Since I was a kid we did our hockey parties here and gymnastics and ski club and school fundraisers. They're an integral part of the community and I love them dearly for this. As far as the pizza goes, I always hear from tourists and "locals" who recently moved from the East or West Coast, that it's sub par but :long sigh: the best you'll get around. I disagree (also, people in Colorado really, really hate when you say our food isn't as good as wherever it is that you're from. If our food is so bad, please do us all a favor and stop coming please. Thanks.) It's hand tossed crust with your choice of toppings and oven baked. I've never had problems with it being burnt or too cheesy, it's always just right. Served with a pitcher of beer and with some good friends, it's a perfect way to spend a night. Their lunch specials with a salad, drink and slice for $6 are a great deal as well. I've never had problems with service, people are laid back but if you're nice to them (read: if you're a tourist from New York and come in talking about how you'll try the food but it'll never be as good and/or have a gigantic group of people in ski boots who take forever to do anything with kids running around wild, etc) they'll treat you well. They are family friendly too with kids toys and some arcade like games in the back room. I've always thought Pazzo's was more of a local secret but I guess the word has gotten out so I finally had to come over and give a good review.

Hotness! My cousins recommended this spot as, "The Best Pizza in Vail." I AGREE. To be fair I only had pizza once, but it was memorable. To add to the amazing pizza, they have some house creations that are creative and delicious. The guy helping us out offered a free slice of one of the house blends, it was awesome, and so awesome that he offered a bunch of visitors a try. I will be back the next time I am in town. Also, the 2 pizzas we ordered were gone in 2.6 seconds, no lies...

Favorite pizza place in Vail Valley. Cool people, local flavor and really good food. The Azteca is one of my all time favorite pizzas.
