On March 20, 2015 my family and I decided to try the Star of India restaurant. It's closer to our home and we wanted to compare it to other India restaurants. My family and I purchased two orders of chicken Tikka Masala along with an order of chicken biriyani and some other items to take home. For me after having India food from a cross the country I find that Star of India compares to place I have visited in Illinois, California and Colorado. The staffs very friendly and helpful. Gar the owner/Manger was very friendly and really wants to know if the food mets your expectations. My advice would be to make sure that what ever you order is spicy. We order one of each of the Tikka Masala and I preferred the spicy. One thing that we do as a family is to ask would you eat their food again. All four of us said yes. Next I want to try their Saturday buffet.

Here is a place that I found with my trusty Yelp app. The original plan was to go to the buffet across the street, but when it was closed without notice, I had to get my Yelp app out to find an alternate. The Star of India turned out to be an excellent choice. I ordered the Chicken Korma and my friend the Lamb Rogan Josh, both dishes were large enough to to share and the flavors were very authentic. Add to this some Basmati rice and garlic naan and I was a perfect meal. The owner was very friendly and chatty and we ended up coming back for the Saturday eve buffet. I will definitely be back again.

Very clean bathroom (I believe this is very important). Food is fresh and tasty! The staff are also super nice. They also give 10% military discount!

We are lucky to have Star of India in our neighborhood. The food and service is always fabulous. The owners are friendly and remember repeat customers. They are quick and the order is always accurate. Best place for Indian food!

I wish it were possible to give no stars. To be fair we only tried the buffet, but I cannot believe a la carte would be any different. I hate it when Indian restaurants think they can use the same tomato purée based sauce for all their dishes. Honestly there was nothing on the buffet which I thought was edible. Left the food on my plate untouched. The search continues for an authentic Indian restaurant.

I can not even begin to tell you how much I love this place. If I wasn't concerned about my waistline I would eat here at least once a week. We love this place. We have only been for the buffet at lunch but we eat until we are STUFFED. Everything is always fresh, lots of flavor and hot. I am normally not a fan of buffets because I fell things sit there too long and they aren't kept at temp but this place does not have that problem. The staff is on top of things. We like our naan without butter/oil and some places seem to be annoyed when we ask for it that way but it is not an issue here. The service is always friendly and attentive. The owner is constantly there and so friendly as well. He has given us his card a couple of times and told us to let him know the day before we come in, if we have an special requests for the buffet. Last time we went we took my 4 year old son (who also loves this place) and the waiter got him some rice pudding topped with a little mango custard from the bar and suggested my son try it. My son LOVED it so then the server brought us each over a mango yogurt drink to try which was SOOOOOO good. I am seriously getting hungry just thinking about their food. Don't judge them by the shopping center, we have tried (or at least walked into and looked at the food) every indian place in the area and we always come back to this one. As a matter of fact, now because we are so spoiled by their great quality, a lot of time we go in, are seated and then look at the buffet only to leave and drive back to Star of India. I don't know why we even try to go elsewhere.

This is an awesome Indian restaurant. Every dish I have tried is flavorful and delicious, but not overly spicy. (You can choose mild, medium, or hot based on your preference.) The wait staff is all very friendly and will do their absolute best to make sure everyone is happy. They are always bringing you extra papa dams, naan and rice pudding for free! The prices are reasonable, especially considering their portions. A group of four could easily share three dishes and still have leftovers to take home. Everything is served family style so it's very easy to share! I would recommend this restaurant to any lover of Indian food, or to anyone interested in trying!

First Indian food I've had here in Colorado. Being a child of comfort, I think I've found my home. Food was great, service was helpful and kind. I will definitely be back to explore more of the menu!

I'm a huge fan of Star of India. The food is outstanding, with generous portions and very efficient service. The owner recognizes and greets both regulars and newcomers alike. Lamb Tikka Masala, Naan, Kingfisher beer... Heaven If you're from the neighborhood, definitely give it a try. You're pretty likely to become a regular yourself.

The samosas were so tasty. We ordered both the veggie and beef filled and were ready to fight over the last ones! The rest of the food was wonderful as well. Just the right spiciness and portions were great.

My first time there to their lunch buffet and loved it!! Don't be deceived by the strip mall building appearance. Inside is nicely decorated, clean and surprisingly spacious. My hubby is a regular of this place and after much convincing today I wanted to try. I'm not much of a restaurant person since I'm very careful to know what is in my food. Well, I love their food! Service is excellent. Water always filled. Just a pleasant lunch atmosphere. Definitely highly recommend!! Food, pricing, service, and atmosphere all excellent what more can you ask for!!! MUST GO AND TRY!!

The food is so delicious, super fresh and authentic. The chef came out and ate the food from the buffet, I took that as a good sign. The staff is very friendly and the Chana masala is great for vegetarians, so many spices and flavors + chickpeas!

It is one of d wprst Indian restaurant i been to. We ordered vegetable pakoras which were too salty....main course of chicken tikka masala, malai kofta and Alu(potato) naan were par below standard. Naan were half baked... Hopeless food... Vl never visit again!

  • Amanda D.

The boys and girls serving here are so nice. As far as food, this place it plain average. Nothing really pops to my taste. The Veggie korma was so heavy... buried with the sauce with no content to it. The selection is pretty limited. They do have wifi so a plus there.

We just moved to this area of town from the northern suburbs and have been on a quest for good Indian food. Personally, I like buffets because I like a little of everything, so we tried Star of India on a Saturday night. This place is awesome. The food was great. Everything was very fresh looking and delicious. However, what I really want to talk about is the service. This is one of the few places that practices that old fashioned trend of having the owner/manager visit all the tables. We talked with the owner for a good 10 minutes about how these were all his old family recipes and how happy he was that we liked it. He seemed very genuine and friendly and it was just nice to relax and enjoy great food with someone who takes real pride in it. Just a warning, their garlic naan could kill a whole horde of vampires. We love garlic so it's no problem for us, but holy cats was it potent. Delicious and potent.

  • Shatam A.

I came due to good reviews but alas the reality was nowhere near to those reviews! Bad chutney, no spices in chola MASALA and ice cold gulab jamun!! And to top it all, the waiter asked us thrice how the food was but did not listen/respond when we told him it wasn't good!! Not recommended if you are looking for good Indian vegetarian cuisine!

So far, this is one of the best Indian places I've been to in Aurora. A group of friends and I went during the lunch buffet and it was a really good deal. ~$10 per person and there was a large selection for the buffet, more than many other lunch buffets I've been to. Each of the dishes were unique and strongly flavored which is perfect for how I want my Indian food. My only caveat is regarding the saag paneer. This is my favorite dish, but it was the only thing that was really lacking in deliciousness. What was also nice about this buffet was that the naan was served fresh to the table rather than just left in bulk in the buffet line, AND they gave both traditional and garlic naan. I've only seen the flavored naans offered as a separate option at other buffets so that was a really nice addition to the whole experience. Overall a good experience, decor and service was standard. Would visit again for a filling and savory meal.

Absolutely love this place. Have tried tons of indian food and this is by far my favorite place. Recommend the tikka chicken masala as an entrée. The goat is pretty good as well. Great customer service, very genuwine and curteous. Overall a great place to dine with family, friends, or even alone!

As soon as we drove up to the restaurant, I was disappointed. The restaurant is located in a small old shopping center which is totally tacky. We were immediately turned off and feeling judgmental. We gave Star of India a try anyways and I am so glad that we did!!!! The food is excellent! The service was quick and helpful. Get the chicken tikka masala or the garlic cheese naan. Both are great!

This place is amazing! I live on the opposite side of town so I don't make it here often. I have been here half a dozen times over the years though. The service is always friendly and attentive. The food is delicious. I ordered the chicken bhuna for the first time and loved it! We'll definitely be back!

YUM! Been here a couple times now and love everything about this place! The service is friendly, the menu has good variety, they have a buffet, and the drinks along with everything else are reasonably priced. Note to self... get Medium, NOT spicy. Ha! I love spicy food... but I didn't know what I was getting myself into when I ordered spicy, luckily the spicy flavor didn't over power the dish nor did the "burn" last long, but I definitely downed tons of water during dinner! The buffet has a good variety, but so far I have just ordered off the menu. Portions are large and enough to share- but it's so good you might not want too!

  • Shane A.

I've been here enough times to know if great service and food wad of luck, or if it's their standard... its a standard. They deliver predictable exquisite taste! The food is excellent, but what surpasses great food? Stellar service. I'm greeted everytime by the owner. He knows me by name and takes excellent care of me and my guests. Luckily this is close to me, because I'd drive 2 hours to get this kind if quality food and service. Their chicken tikka korma is sensational. Some of the best service I've ever had.

This restaurant is soo good! The owner was very friendly & suggested options to suit our cravings. We had chicken karma in coconut sauce & fish marsala. We will definitely return! The taste is authentic!

Tasty Indian which is no easy find in Denver. Ordered from the evening menu. Started with onion bhaji and vegetable pakora, which were good, not too greasy. I went for the shrimp Jalfrezi and my Mother had the shrimp Korma. I went for 'hot' and was not disappointed. Spicy and bursting with flavor. My Mother reported the korma to be excellent. Quick service despite being busy, would come back for sure. Probably the best Indian restaurant I have found in the south Denver area.

BEST INDIAN FOOD IN COLORADO...HANDS DOWN!! Their lunch buffet is outstanding and crazy good deal at $9! The restaurant is clean, staff are friendly, owner frequently rounding to make sure all patrons are well-served. They deserve your business--try it out!!! My only suggestion for them: Start a punch-card frequent buffet program for those of us who go often AND update the bathrooms (not the highlight of the dining experience...but then again...did you go there for the bathroom?!).

  • Yashwanth C.

never ever order any vegetarian dishes from this place. The cauliflower was raw, the cream was so rich in spice and even the dal was not properly cooked. No complaints about the chicken dishes though. Ambiance was decent, service was Ok, food could have been better

So delicious--everything from lamb vindaloo sp? Chicken tikka masala and saag paneer; love the buffet bc you can try so much! Indian food is a favorite and this place is on point. So friendly and a nice atmosphere...I eat here at least once a week !

  • Jennifer R.

Decent lunch buffet and never ending naan. I feel like it was a little pricey. If I go back I will order off the menu so I can get more of what I actually want. Several of the items on the buffet were not something I wanted to partake in, or I couldn't tell what it was. Let's be real. Buffets aren't the best idea ever.

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEE!!! I would give this place 1000 stars if I could. I have never had Indian food before and I just moved from Texas. At first I was skeptical of trying it but the moment I stepped foot in the door I was openly welcomed and sat. I decided that if it was my first time trying it, I might as well try a little bit of everything. I also had a mangolasi? !!! Absolutely AMAZING! They pay very close attention to their regular guests and just make you feel like family. I am and will continue to be a guest here!!!

Star of India was the perfect surprise for my boyfriend and I on a Sunday evening. We were the first ones in, right at 5:00 pm for dinner, and we were very warmly greeted by all the gentleman working there. the inside was very clean and well decorated, i particularly enjoyed the beautiful.wall mural. We got veggie samosa, and it was brilliant! Perfectly flaky, perfectly seasoned, and perfect texture!! I got the Chicken Tikka, and my boyfriend got chicken Bhuna and Woah... The flavors were so unique and we'll calculated. That chef must be a flavor mad scientist back there. The portions were good sized, and they even offered us extra rice to go. Overall I am very satisfied with my experience, and we will undoubtedly be back. Thanks Star of India!

  • Trent F.

Imagine my surprise when the vegetable samosa was full of red bell pepper. Not something I have ever had in a samosa before. It completely overpowered the delicate spicing of the potatoes and peas. I was also surprised to see the samosas taken off the buffet table. That's all right when you need raita, rice or the different sauces. Not so much with a prepared dish. I certainly wouldn't order the samosas again. Very disappointing. The Chicken Tikka Masala was not as disappointing and the naan was puffy, hot and quite tasty. However, there was some gristle in the meat, breast meat rarely is, so does that mean dark meat crept in? It did end my dining experience on a down note. The service was what one expects: negligible. Too bad or I would have gotten the raita I had requested. At least it wasn't added to my bill. I am a huge fan of Indian food, from my first experience of it at the world's best Indian restaurant, Tandoor India in Philadelphia. I am afraid Star of India doesn't come close to that restaurant; and, I haven't lived in Philly since 2001. Perhaps I am too picky; or, maybe it was the kerosene smell coming from the table lamp. My search continues.

Rockstar service, freshness & food quality. Very friendly servers seated Us immediately on a weeknight when the restaurant had only 1 other couple. Chicken tikka saag & chicken tikka masala ($13.95) were full of white meat. The lamb saag ($13.95) was also very flavorful, not greasy at all, and with a great level of spice. The naan, traditional ($1.95) & garlic ($3.95), were good though the traditional was a bit doughy. I liked that chutney that came with the poppidum at the start of the meal. Overall, great food at spot-on prices, good service, and welcoming dining room (though empty at the time). They even brought us free rice pudding after the check, which was a nice bonus! I'd definitely go back for dinner & would like to try the lunch buffet as well.

  • Denver G.

The food is decent here. My rating is based on 2 visits during lunch hours within the last two weeks. On both the visits, the restaurant was packed. The ambiance is pretty nice and bright during the afternoons. The Pakoras, Saag Paneer, Chicken Tikka Masala were great on my first visit. On my most recent visit, the Chicken Biryani was pretty good, but the Chili Chicken was very greasy... literally swimming in oil. The service was very attentive and friendly on both occasions. The owner is a friendly guy who stopped by our booth and made sure our Chai was refilled frequently. Overall the food is flavorful, albeit very similar to all the other Punjabi-Indian restaurants in the Denver area.

Bad experience tonight. Servers seemed focused on bigger parties and those doing the dinner buffet. Really? Dinner buffet at an Indian restaurant... What is this? Golden Corral? We ordered off the menu and didn't even receive half the items we asked for. How does a restaurant stay in business when they can't even give you what you ask for? I would have asked a second time if a waiter had been available, but really, why should I have to? This place BLOWS!!!!

  • Lori P.

I've recently become a huge fan of Indian food. This place happens to be a hop skip and jump from my house so I made my way over there for their lunch buffet. Not only was the food good but the service was fantastic ! All the employees made sure we had everything we needed and we didn't have any questions. The price of the lunch buffet is so affordable. I definitely will be coming back here whenever I crave Indian food!

5 of 5 This is my first 5 Star rating. Why you ask? Star of India has mastered the combined factors that provide the best dining experience. This is a small restaurant located in a strip mall. It could accommodate 40-59 people though. It's kind of a hidden gem, you wouldn't even think was there. The restaurant is clean, cozy, and decorated very nicely. The service was professional, friendly, polite, speedy & efficient. We have been for both the regular lunch buffet, as well as dinner ordered form the menu. We love their Lamb in Korma Sauce, Spicy Chicken Kabobs (Taj Kabobs Appetizer), Tandoori chicken, fresh chutneys, and all the naan and roti a girl could ask for. It is very reasonably priced, especially the lunch buffet, which to me is a steal. This restaurant is a great place for a solo lunch, date night, birthday, or just a relaxing place to meet with friends, have a few drinks, and fantastic meal. I also must add, that as an Oregonian born, American girl, raised by an American Father and Korean Mother, my knowledge of Indian cuisine is limited. I can honestly say that Indian food is one of my top favorite foods. EVER.

  • Sarah S.

The service here is outstanding every time I come. I always leave thoroughly impressed with how attentive and professional the staff is. The food is also delicious. I have loved everything I've tried. I will absolutely continue to come back!

The service here is fantastic: every employee from the servers, to the food runners, to the owner himself were personable, attentive, and friendly. Don't know how to pronounce something? not sure what it is? have a special request? They listen and act on it without hesitation. The people: Gar (sp?), the owner, came around to each table and introduced himself, made recommendations, and engaged in personal conversation. He shared not only his restaurant and food, but himself with us. He told us how the recipes are all from his mother's kitchen and how she personally trained the cooks to cook food properly. And that was wholly evident, as it felt like we were eating in his home. The food: was nothing short of phenomenal. Unlike other Indian places in the area, not was very flavorful and not at all salty or oily. We had the bread basket, the saag paneer, the lamb biriyani, and the paneer makhani. The portions were enormous, especially the biriyani. And as a gesture of hospitality and passion for sharing his food and culture with us, Gar gave us a wonderful--and complimentary--serving of rice pudding with mango puree. If you love Indian/Pakistani food, or have been wanting to try it, this is the place to go. If it's out of the way for you, make the effort--it's that exceptional of an experience.

  • Dave Z.

Compliments to Gar the owner/manager. He was not only attentive on a (too) crowded evening - he was paying attention and addressed every problem that came up. We'll be back, because the foods good, the service is friendly and the restaurant is clean and comfortable.

Amazing food! Had the saag paneer and lamb korma. Absolutely delicious. The stuffed aloo naan was amazing as well. Took some Indian friends from out of town and they agreed that it was amazing Indian food and ambiance. Also the owner of the restaurant personally came to our table and suggested to get the yellow daal just like his mom would make. The staff here is very attentive. Also he gave us a dessert of kheer on the house!! As mother would say 'kyaaa baat hai' (now that's something to write home about!)

  • Michael H.

Best things: chicken wings, which tonight had no wings at all but 5 legs that were delicious, moist, spicy--a meal in itself even just one order. Also liked their version of chicken ticca with red and green peppers. Pappadums and chutneys were fine. Washed it down with Taj Majal beer. Worst things: Chicken masala was odd. Very small serving with gravy like rich sauce. Servers were kind of pushy to order more food. The place looks old and could use a remodel. Overall, I would come back for the "wings" and a beer, maybe some pappadums and naan on the side.

  • Nisha K.

The reviews are misleading. I am not from Denver. So I am not sure what other Indian restaurants are around. But this food was below standard. Chicken tasted bland, even the rice was undercooked. Overall a bad experience. Please stay away from this place.

LUNCH BUFFET! YES. The owner was running around making sure everyone had steamy hot fresh baked naan on their table. Service was great, price was fair and the food was yummy! Can't get any better than this!!!

We were in the area and I was using my mobile Yelp application to look for a place for dinner. I came across this place and thought, Indian sounds really yummy right now. Sam never tried Indian food so a little convincing was in order, he agreed and off we went. The place is in a strip mall, don't let that scare you away, some really great restaurants are in strip malls. We entered and the place is a lot bigger than what I thought from the outside. The place was a little on the quiet side, it was a Sunday evening though. There was a Birthday party being set up in the back room which looked nice. We were immediately greeted and sat in a booth. Our waiter was absolutely fantastic! Once I told him that Sam was new to the whole Indian food experience, he was very helpful with recommendations, how it worked and what meat went best with what sauce. We decided on: Garlic Naan - Very tasty, just enough garlic Chicken Vindloo - Huge pieces of chicken with potato's, I loved it Lamb Korma - Sam loved this dish. He had the surprised look on his face of "Wow, this is great and I didn't expect it". I love that the Korma has coconut milk in it. Basmati Rice - Great compliment to both the dishes and helped to scoop up the sauce with the naan bread. This was a top notch dinner for us and the food had great flavor and spice. You can pick your spicy level, we both went with medium which was just right. I think if we went hot it would've been too much. If we're in the area again I would definitely stop in. The lunch buffet sounds nice, maybe I'll have to plan a trip. :)

I have eaten at Indian restaurants all over the city and found most of the food tastes the same. Star I India is the best by far. All the dishes have distinct flavors and all are terrific. The tandoori shrimp is fantastic as is the Saturday night buffet. We have eaten here for years and never have had even a mediocre meal. It always great.

    (5)
  • Bunny A.

After reading all the great reviews I couldn't wait to try this place. The food was mediocre at best in my opinion. But the worst part was the smoke. They had such heavy incense burning that we all felt sick for hours after we left. It was worse than being in a smokey bar. I will never return to this restaurant. It needs to be cleaned, remodeled and they are in bad need of an air purifier for all the smoke. We are just traveling through the area so I'm guessing by the high reviews Denver must not have any good Indian restaurants. I am sure this place would not have any good reviews in most other towns.

    (1)
  • Tom C.

This may very well be the best Indian restaurant in the Denver area. Reminds of the way they do it Chicago and their dishes are full of flavor and spicey. My boyfriend and ordered the Chaana Saag from the vegetarian menu and it was BOMB!! Of course, we got the naan, too, and they serve complimentary yummy popadums right away. We'll DEFINITELY be back!

I'm trying to learn to like Indian food, and this was very good. I had the butter chicken (Indian food for beginners) with the garlic naan.

The food is delish and the staff are so friendly! Our water glasses stayed full, the bread was in plain and garlic, the kids and the adults ate until we couldn't eat anymore (though we wanted to taste more), and we plan to return after we recover from our food comas.

Holy Moly. If you don't come here for lunch you are seriously doing yourself a disservice. For starters, the Lunch Buffet here is $8.99, among the cheaper buffets in town. But let's put price aside, (WAT?!) Because honestly, that's not the reason you should come here. It's out of the way of most of the area, since it's on the far side of Parker road, nearer to I-225 located in a shopping center with a Dollar General and an Arc. Lunch is usually fairly quiet, no more than about 15-20 people in there at a time, but very much a steady stream of people. If you're on this side of town, it's worth a stopover for lunch though. Onward towards what really matters on these reviews, the FOOD. Oh my my my my my my my MY. I really am not sure where to start here, because the food does NOT taste like it was in a buffet. My favorite probably has to be the Massaman that is here. It's absolutely savory, and creamy that just begs to be put over rice and scarfed down. Add a little bit of their freshly made chutney, and your mouth won't believe what is going on. (My mouth is actually watering writing this...) The massaman though is not the only star of the show on here, because they also have your dal and curries, all of them just delightful. And the pakora they make are just impossible to put down. I try not to eat too many, but I find myself sneaking more than a few onto my plate, (and a few into my pockets to take home as well). I have a minor gripe, and that is there is not spicy dishes on the buffet. Occasionally there might be one, but it's rare. I understand why they do that though; because while not all Indian dishes are spicy, some of them can ratchet up the level to damn near infernal levels, which may not be acceptable to those who do not have a penchant for consuming hell fire, like I do. That being said, I do wish the Chicken Tikka had a bit of heat to it. (Probably because growing up my neighbor always made hers spicy in her house, and that's what I'm used to) however, it still does not take away from the flavour that is still in the chicken. Minor to be sure. Let's focus instead on the awesome fresh naan that they send out by the basketful while you're eating, and just keep refilling. (If you can ask for the one with garlic and butter! nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom) The owner is very friendly here, and it looks like most the family is involved. If you're feeling something different, drive on across town and brave the Hamden avenue traffic. (I dare you) and check this place out. You won't be disappointed.

This is a family owned restaurant with a personal touch. The owners stop by your table to check on you. I love the Wednesday night Vegetarian buffet. The vegetable pakora is wonderful and gluten free. It's so hard to pick one item, so the buffet is the perfect solution. You can try many different dishes. I love the food, the environment and the staff.

Ive had a lot of indian food in my lifetime and this is definitely one of the best restaurants serving indian food. Very authentic indian food, with great spices and flavors. I LOVED our order ( veggie samosa, chicken tikki masala, lamb vidaloo, channa masala and garlic nan) all were five stars! Highly recommend.

This is our favorite Indian restaurant. The environment is relaxing and authentic (even the music) with a low key, relaxing atmosphere. You can request "custom" orders of dishes (e.g. dairy free variations), and their garlic nan is amazing!! Their food is delicious, where it seems the ingredients they use are high quality. We typically get the tandoori mahi-mahi and the chicken marsala/curry. Yum!!

Tried this place out one Saturday for lunch buffet due to good Yelp reviews. This place isn't bad by any means, but there are just SO MANY Indian buffet options... this just doesn't make my list. Let's start with the good. The taste of their food is pretty good. They have this beef meatball dish, I must've had around 6 of them. Naan bread is pretty decent too. Nice and buttery, not too burnt or dry. Now, the not so good. I was looking forward to the 25+ items like they said on their website. I didn't actually did a count but there were only 3 meat option. Chicken tikka masala, chicken tandoori, and meatball. That was a bit disappointing. Call me greedy but I like varieties in my buffet for me to stuff myself stupid. I didn't have any drinks but my bf ordered and chai and he said it's sub-par. And the following little story is what dropped them from a 3 star to a 2 for me. Their service had been pretty decent to this point, water and chai was refilled, dirty plates were taken away. Nothing much to complain about. We ran out of naan bread so we asked for more. Well we waited for about 15 minutes, nothing. Finally someone came by and asked if we've gotten our naan yet and we said no. So she went back to the back and came back with some about 5 more minutes later. And by more, I meant 2 quarters of it. It's like going to a Chinese restaurant and they're cheap out on white rice for you. AND after a longer wait nonetheless. Yes, to spell it out for you, they lost 1 star from me because of 2 pieces of naan bread (on top of the wait). Like I said, this place isn't bad, just isn't great. I'd recommend driving the extra 3 miles and go down to Indian Oven down by Sunflower Market on Yale and Colorado instead for a satisfying Indian buffet.

This is my Go-to place whenever I am in Aurora. Gar the owner is unforgettable. He puts his heart in to everything. It's a rare find to see that in places these days--- they exist, but are very rare. Love this place, and I am speechless.

This place has a wide selection of vegetarian options at one of the lowest Indian buffet rates in town. The table service was great, with fresh naan being brought out directly to the tables (we were able to take home the leftover naan!). The spicy onion chutney, a unique dish I hadn't seen at other Indian buffets, was a great accompaniment to the already flavorful dishes. Definite do-over.

This place is great. Love the lamb masala. They have a buffet Saturday nights that is really good too. The meat samosas are great to start with.

I probably need to go back for dinner. The dishes just seemed off or not very savory. The service was impeccable so yes, I would definitely try again. Ooodles of parking so can't go wrong there. Clean bathroom. Can accommodate a large group.

**AMAZING** -Best Indian food I've ever had. -I don't eat dairy and the kitchen was 100% accommodating. Gar even had them make me a special dish that used Coconut Milk on the house just to try. It was delicious. -The service, food, and price are excellent. I suggest this restaurant to anyone!

My husband and I were lucky to come here on vegetarian buffet night. There were so many options including multiple desserts, and they were all delicious. We ordered chai which was great and the service was wonderful. The owner and staff were all exceptionally friendly!

Denver Culinary World Trip : Stop #5 (India) I was working with a friend who asks "Do you like Indian Food?". I went like "Hell yeah". We yelped and the closest place for an Indian lunch buffet was Star of India. They had a few vegetarian options and few options for the meat eaters. The food, for the most part was bland. I don't mean that the food was not spicy, the food didn't even taste like proper indian food. The bread wasn't warm or fresh (like its supposed to be, from the oven). The tables were not clean and the wait staff took forever to clear out the dirty dishes from the table. Why do you give it two stars, you may ask. My friend and I decided to order masala chai (tea with indian spices) and boy, was it amazing. One extra star just for the chai. I do not think I will be going back there again for food.

Great place for chicken tikka, marsala and everything Indian food. Garlic Naan rice damn good stuff! Food is fresh and the owner knows my name after coming in off and on. They're a nice family run business that takes pride in their product. Lunch Buffet is good deal especially if you're really hungry!

I got take out here with my boyfriend and the staff was very friendly when we came in to pick it up, even though it was 5 minutes before close. The food was great, and still fresh despite being take out! We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, hot heat, and the Tandoori Chicken medium heat. We also ordered garlic naan. The naan was not great after being in the car for about 15 minutes on the drive home, because it was soggy when we ate it but if it was fresh it would probably have been really tasty. The other two dishes were just amazing. The chicken tikka was so delicious and creamy, flavorful and unique. The tandoori was my favorite, I loved the sauce it came in and the chicken had a great flavor from being baked in the special clay oven. It came with a lot of rice and enough for leftovers for both of us the next day for lunch. The price is a bit expensive for indian food, our total was around $30 for the 2 curries and the naan, which is pretty pricey. Despite the price, the food is great and I would definitely come here again!

I have been to this area to shop regularly with Sean. Little did I know, there is this restaurant name Star Of India which provide Indian buffet. I went yesterday with 15 other friends to enjoy the buffet there. With good company, awesome conversations, indeed I have a blast enjoying the menu spread that they offer here at Star of India. Man, I am not disappoint. The friendly and helpful staffs are willing to accommodate to our needs. Plenty of hot food with cheap price what can I ask for more. They make sure our drinks are being filled regularly and ask if we want any other food or drinks not in the buffet menu. I heard during Wednesday evenings they provide ALL Vegetarian Buffet. I should come here during Dinner time and see how things go. I will bring Sean along to try other food from the menu that they have. Do check it out if you are not into the buffet. Please do come early if you want to do the Lunch Buffet. For the Lunch buffet the times are as following: Lunch: Monday - Friday 11:00am to 2:30pm Saturday - Sunday 11:30am to 3:00pm The place can be crowded with lots of people wanting to enjoy the buffet spread. Do call in advance if you decide to dine with a party of 5 or more. Dinner: Monday - Thursday 5:00pm to 9:00pm Friday - Sunday 5:00pm to 9:30pm

A twinkling diamond in Aurora, Star of India will give you mouthful after mouthful of Punjabi pleasure. Start with Paneer Pakora - fried fritters of soft, squishy, creamy white cheese. Or, if you must have your Bloomin' Onion fix in an Indian restaurant, why not sample the more low-key, but tastier, variant known as the Onion Bhaji (hugely popular in the United Kingdom!) From there, progress to one of their sumptuous main courses. Choose from chicken, lamb, shrimp or fish dappled with any number of sauces (creamy Korma! bellpeppery Bhuna! spinachy Saag! volcanic Vindaloo! EEP!). Or try one of their vegetarian delights, with soft smoky eggplant (Bharta Makhani), bouncily verdant peas (Mutter Paneer) or meltingly tender potatoes and cauliflower (Aloo Gobhi). With the huge dish of moist rice served alongside, you're ready to go! Then, while you're still in that stripmall, head to the Bengali grocery called Ananda Bazaar and check out their cornucopia of spices, sweets and sundries. Maybe the charming owner's adorable son will tell you about his favorite cookies too! Fir milaan ge.

My boyfriend and I were craving Indian food, yelp helped us find this place. I'm very glad it did as the food was excellent. We were seated right away and the owner came right over to greet us. He provided suggestions to help us make our decision on the food. He even brought a small sample of a dish we did not order, just in case we wanted to order it next time. The only negative I would give is, we asked for our food to be spicy and there was only a hint of spice in the dish. However even without the spice the food was great. Now this is making me want Indian food again just thinking about it!

We went here for dinner on a Saturday night, and everything my group had was delicious -- good wine, good samosas, great entrees and fabulous naan. (Although is there such a thing as bad naan?) The service was very good, although it did take quite a long time for our entrees to arrive. The decor and atmosphere are a little lacking, so while I'd absolutely go back, I wouldn't say that Star of India is a great place for a first date or a special occasion.

This review is ONLY of the buffets. It is not completely fair to judge a restaurant based on the buffet, as most people are more interested in one thing: cheap food, and lots of it. I had had the veggie dinner buffet previously (only offered Wednesday) and it was OK. Not good enough to draw me back, but today I had a saag craving, and this is the only nearby place open on Sunday. The saag was just OK. Not very flavorful. The pakora was very good. The veggie masala I think was mislabeled, the sauce tasted more like korma than masala. It was very good though. I went back for a little more saag after they brought out some fresh food. It was completely different, much better and much more flavorful. Overall everything was pretty mild, which you would expect in a buffet. Based on the reviews I'm guessing their dinner menu is pretty good, but we have a closer place we really, so it may be a while before I come back here.

We were in the mood for Indian food and this restaurant is close to our house, so we gave it a try. We were seated immediately and our server was friendly and made several suggestions from the menu for us. All of our food came out delicious. We all ordered "medium" for the spice level and it was just right. We ordered the bread basket to try several types of naan. We'll probably stick to the plain naan next time, as that was our favorite. The only negative was that it was incredibly stuffy and hot inside the restaurant. Granted, it was a hot day outside and maybe their cooling system wasn't activated yet for the year. But it was uncomfortable.

This is by far the best Indian resturant I've ever been to. Food is amazing, service is great, and the place has a nice atmosphere. My favorite dish is the Chicken Masala. I would defiantly order it. My only complaint is that the place has a faint smokey smell, but it is totally worth it.

I am a super fan now. We went back again since the food was so amazing. The manager and the wait staff both commented on the last time we were there and that there would be no cilantro on our food this time. (I'm allergic, not deathly but it makes me ill). We had the same dishes that we had last time, Chicken Tikka Masala and the Chicken Tikka Tandori. I had my masala medium and my partner had his tandori HOT. Once again tears of joy. I think I could drink masala sauce, I kept dipping my naan into it. It makes you weak how good it was. We also ordered tarka daal? Lentils. I wasnt a huge fan. They arent bad, and since I had never had them before. I think I will stick to my pea and potato thingy I got last time. We might try paneer next time too. This fatty recommends this place!

A cautious 5 stars because it's been a spell since my last visit to Star of India, however, every visit ever has resulted in the best Indian food around (in my non-expert opinion). I first discovered Star on a snowy winter night some... oh, three years ago? Three and a half? I was a vegan at the time, but upon hearing this the owner said it was no problem to make the Bhartha Makhani (eggplant curry) sans cream/ghee. He was almost excited to tell us about how his mother (who helps with all the cooking--or at least did at that point in time) had been a long-time vegetarian and was very accommodating to such requests. While I could not try the Naan at that time, visits since (no longer vegan) have yielded two thumbs up (especially yum is the garlic Naan). I have also had the saag without dairy, and actually prefer it this way as it's not as heavy overall and the spices aren't muted out by the cream. I have dined in during dinner hours, and also during their daily lunch buffet. The food never disappoints and I've never left a lunch buffet feeling anything less than stuffed to the rafters (oops). The Kheer (Indian rice pudding) and Mango custard that is offered on the buffet is out of this world. Also, on Wednesday nights they have an entirely vegetarian buffet for $11.95--well worth the price for a sampling of some of the best vegetarian fare to be had. You can also get the buffet to-go and on my one visit to do so, I was told by the owner, "You should have packed that box a little more full!". And truly, I should have ;) Also, from a few meat eaters' points of views, their meat dishes are quite tasty from what I've heard. It seems with first-time diners they always push the chicken Korma on, but (again from word of mouth), I hear it's a good place to start. I used to frequent Star more often when I lived in Aurora; now... not so much. But as it is right off I-225, it is relatively easy enough to get to via the major highways through Denver. Writing this review has me pining, however, so a point must be made to get there again some time soon. Get thee to a ...NAAN-ery!

We have been there for dinner and lunch buffets. Both are fabulous. The place is clean and food is always tasty. The service is superb as well. The owner walks around to each table to make sure everyone is pleased. I feel welcome every time. One of the best dishes is the naan bread. It is made to order, so it's hot and fresh. The variety is impressive too. I've been to some great Indian restaurants on the east coast, but Star India is among the best. Check it out. You will be impressed!

Love this restaurant! When I've got a craving for Indian food, this is where I go. Food is great and the service (especially if the owner is there) is outstanding. Twice now I've brought friends and we've been treated to free samples of dishes we probably wouldn't have known to try beforehand. That kind of service is what brings me back time and time again. Be sure to try the Wednesday buffet if you just want a sampling of their dishes.

By far, this has been my worst experience with Indian food in Denver. Today i went to this restaurant for lunch buffet.None of the dishes had any taste. Absolutely none. There are 3 dishes which almost any Indian restaurant excels in - chicken tandoori, butter chicken and saag. Even these were below par in this place. Pakodas were not fried properly. Chicken in butter chicken looked like it just visited gravy for a second. Tandoori chicken - some pieces were burned to oblivion, some were not tandoor-ed at all. On top of this the customer service was indifferent. I asked for a cutlery, they pointed out to the place where they were kept. Only items which tasted a little ok were the desserts. But it is nothing to write home about. To add insult to injury, this food caused me stomach problems. When an Indian can get problems from eating this Indian food, i don't know what to call this. Avoid this like plague.

Tried their lunch buffet. What's with the beef meatballs? OK, now that the beef issue off my chest, on to the review. Star of India is in strip mall in Aurora near Parker & Dartmouth, about a 1/2 mile south of I-225. It is a nice storefront restaurant with plenty of seating. The buffet is a long line in the front section of the restaurant. All the usual Indian suspects are there. I will say that I prefer India's Tandoori Chicken, by a slight margin. There was a good range of vegetarian and meat dishes, with an assortment of chutneys and condiments available. I tried most of the dishes, and found them to excellent. The Dal and curried chicken were quite tasty. At the table, fresh Nan is delivered. I also had a cup of chai. Service was efficient, with finished plates removed while I hunted the buffet for new items.

I have been here several times with friends. This is an excellent restaurant. I have not tasted anything I haven't loved. I usually order vegetarian and each selection has been outstanding. My friends order meat dishes and they rave. Perhaps most important of all, the service is really outstanding. Servers are thoughtful and attentive and the owner frequently checks in with diners with grace and generosity. They anticipate your needs, the hallmark of excellent service. The restaurant is kept clean and nicely presented. Can't wait for our next trip!

Minnie k's review here drove me to drop in this last gem for tonight. I love Star of India and will miss it when I relocate to the NW Quadrant next month. The owner is very cool and always offers me a small glass of mango lassi if I am getting a take-out order. Heaven, is thy holy drink Mango Lassi? If not, it should be. *soooooooooooooo* yummy. perfect sweetness, perfect texture -- for me, anyways... The naan is fresh, soft and warm/hot as naan should be. Their garlic naan in particular has fresh garlic and cilantto which tastes so yummy, it does to me what a raw, dripping steak does to a vicious, starved doberman. They have about 8 different kinds of naan bread here, the alu naan is also quite delicious with smushed up potatoes and peas, and I've also had the kabuli naan with cashew nuts and raisins which was very unique and scrumptious as well -- if a bit off the standard naan path. Yes, Virginia, there is a website for this bit of Indian nirvana - starofindiadenver.com is the place. I have had many dishes there: the vegetable korma, aloo mutter, chicken korma, chicken tikka masala, butter lamb...the list goes on. They have a balanced carnivore and vegetarian menu - the meat choices are lamb, chicken, chicken tikka shrimp and fish. Then you can combine it with any sauce they have there (counts menu -- that'd be 9) for unique fare. One outstanding choice they have available is their tandoori shrimp. The menu says it is "jumbo prawns" -- and they are NOT lying. These monsters are as big as an 8-10 yr old's fist. Seared to perfection and then served with a tasty melange of onions and bell peppers. I didn't think it was possible to find mutant prawns in the Denver area...but they are here and waiting for you if you're a shrimp lover. The decor is very pretty and adds to the illusion of escape from the every day. If you are lucky they can seat you in one of the back room areas where (at least 1-2 years ago) you can sit down on big cushions and devour your tasty viands, all to the wafting Indian music being played over the sound system. They have the standard stock beers available here as well as tasty Indian ones too. And you may need one if you order your food spicy here. Food can be spiced anywhere from "just a smidge" to "set my mouth on fire". I have not had the lunch buffet here but I understand it is extremely tasty and has a wide variety of items, although it is a bit pricey. Wednesday night they have a special vegetarian buffet for those who want to sample various vegetarian delights instead of being locked down to just 1 (or whatever your dining partners will let you sample). This place seriously rocks - it's a true gem amongst the coal of its neighboring stores in a strip mall (an ARC or Goodwill store (I forget which) and a cool Indian grocery which boarded up a few years back). I like India's, Little India, Bombay Clay Oven and others, but this place trumps those slightly. Enjoy if you go here -- and check out at least a small glass of lassi! Yummmmmmmmmmm. =)

Once again, I was blessed with the fortune of eating at an excellent restaurant. Everything was friggin awesome here and for extremely low prices. Much like your first visit to Disneyland, this place offers a magical experience. The said "magic" doesn't come from the ambiance, or a great location, it comes from the damn excellent Indian food, and fantastic customer service. Stay awesome Star of India, and don't change a thing.

One word, OK well, actually two: Lunch Buffet. It's a decent place that serves decent food. Having been here about 15 times during my wives first pregnancy and the craving for Indian, I am familiar with their menu inside and out. I would recommend the spinach lamb as tasty but once you realize the net caloric intake you realize that Dr. Atkins would have been proud. The caloric count is quite high but what is a calorie ... basically, it is a measure of the amount of rationalization offered by the average individual prior to taking a second helping of a particular food. :) Overall, this a decent place for lunch but does tend to be overpriced for dinner. All that needs to be said is: if you like Indian cuisine, you will think this place is A-OK! Namaste!

There's a lot of great Indian places in Denver Metro, and Star of India is right up there with the others. I've been there a few times for there lunch buffet and love it every time. I'm not going to get into the specific dishes, I'm just going to say that if you enjoy Indian food everything they offer here will satisfy you. Servers where polite and they brought out free desert for my large party as well, which was a great finishing touch to our meal. Full bar, even a few Indian beers.

Great Indian food.... Everything we have had here has been well done. The buffet is generally good...a little inconsistent - but great value. We like going during non-buffet hours and have taken many others with us there...they were equally impressed. We appreciate the good service and the staff and owner are very nice and come over and say hi each time we are there. The food here is just really well done. Star of India is an enjoyable experience every visit.

This place has the best Indian food I've had in a long time. The service is top notch and you can tell the owner, Gar takes a lot of pride in his restaurant. I've probably been here at least a dozen times and have already taken many of my friends here as well. The food can be ordered at any spice level and the staff is extremely courteous and friendly. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for authentic Indian food and great customer service.

I "like" it here, but we keep trying many Indian restaurants to find something a little better. The reason we keep going back is because we know we will get decent food, but nothing exciting. Something holds me back from saying this is my fav Indian place to eat, which is probably why I keep looking elsewhere. Finally for some reason the waiters scare me a little bit and I have no idea why as they are always pleasant.

Get your curry on! This place was recently recommended to me by a Brit who has lived here in Denver for 18 years so he has probably tried every curry house in town and we Brits know our Indian food. In England Indian food is our ethnic just like Mexican is here in CO and Cuban food was in FL. I wont claim to be an expert in regards to northern or southern style cooking just like I cant decipher the different regions of Italy. However I will say that this has to be one the tastiest Indian meals that I have had in a long time. This is a family owned place tucked away in a little strip mall and for a Tuesday night they had a string of regulars coming in. The owner Gar Gill came over and introduced himself after we were promptly given menus, papadums and water. He recommended the Vegetable Samosa as an appetizer and it was a sign of great things to come. Nice and hot flaky pastry with curried potatoes and peas inside. We ordered drinks and my date got a 11oz bottle of Maharaja, a premium Indian Pilsner and I couldn't decide between the Taj Mahal or the Flying Horse both 22oz bottles. Gill said the Taj was the most popular so that's what I got :o) The way these Indian restaurants work is that they put a plate of rice in the middle of the table then you dish comes out in a metal bowl. I chose the Chicken Tikka with the Vindaloo sauce and Lisa got the Saag Paneer. While we were eating Gill came back over with a complimentary bowl of the Chicken Masala as that was his favourite and he wanted us to try it. How cool is that? Well not as cool as the Flying Horse bottle of beer he brought to the table, again complimentary coz he felt that I should try it. This place was busy and so its not like he had to impress us, the brilliant food did that, but theres more, oh yes. More freebies, Gill served us up some Indian rice pudding with mango sauce :o) To top off a brilliant date night, Gill invited us and another table to check out the kitchen to see how they make the fresh baked Naan bread. They have a clay oven that's fired up on mesquite chips only and the chef showed us how he worked the dough and then stuck it to the side of the round oven. I have never seen that before. He had us hold our hands over the oven and damn it was hot, and the chef actually sticks his hand in there! He made two orders and each party was given one to take home. That's gonna be hard to beat, date & food! :O)

Finally had a chance to try this place. I've been searching for a good Indian resturant. I've found it. The food was awesome. I'll definitely go back.

Food was just ok. Went to the restaurant after reading the reviews on yelp and food was nowhere near the 4 star avg. given by the other users. The rice served with the entree was stale. The portions were very small for the price they are charging. We ordered lamb saag + Chicken Tikka Masala and the lamb was too hard. And there was no northern punjabi flavor in the food. I found out later that the cook is Nepali. NOTE: Most of the reviews are by Americans and they don't know what real authentic north Indian food is. Hands down India's Pearl on Pearl street is the best & most authentic Indian food I have had in Denver. When it comes to my Indian food, I don't compromise. Period.

I've been going to Star of India for years (counting fingers...ten years??..have I lived in Denver that long??) and thought it was about time to write a review. Being a regular at a restaurant reminds you that a one time visit can easilly impress, but to consistently win my business for ten years, Star of India is doing something very-very right! First off, personal service, the owner Gar and his family always are there. He's always checking on tables with his friendly smile, making sure everything is going smoothly. When I first started going here this is something that really struck me and has kept me coming back ever since. This one on one service really speaks to the commitiment of these folks to create a great experience at their restaurant. Secondly, in TEN years I have NEVER had a bad meal, nope, not one. I have probably tried everything on the menu, and there is a wealth of other reviews extoling the in's and outs of the menu. But after ten years and not one bad meal- that says a LOT. If you must know , my personal favorites are the Chicken Tikka Masala, Garlic naan and the Saag Paneer. My friends won't leave without the Mixed Tandoori and the Bhartha Makhani (tandoori eggplant) My husband swears by the tomato soup (get it spicy!) to warm up on a cold winter day. Make sure you get a Kingfisher to cool off that palette, or a mango lassi will do the trick too. Whatever you choose, I bet it will be good. Star of India, you have my undying love, and will continue to come back for as long as you will have me and my crazy friends.

Food was actually very bland, not as spicy as I would have expected. Even the deserts could have been a little better. Good service however and nice atmosphere.

Bf and I have been on an Indian kick lately. Stopped by this place because I spotted it while driving in our new hood the other day. They had great customer service. We told them we just wanted to get some take-out and they seated us at the bar. While we were waiting for our order they served us a delicious orange drink. I have no idea what it was but it was good and made me salivate a lot! When we left, the family who I think owns it were really friendly and made a point to thank us for stopping by. The only downside is that the portions are a little on the small side. I can't finish a whole entree, but there's hardly any left for lunch the next day which is a big selling point for me:) I'll definitely be back though! ETA: just realized I wrote that badly. I mean that when a place has enough leftover for lunch the next day it's a big selling point. So I wish Star of India had a little bit more in their entrees.

Had dinner there tonight (Tuesday). I ordered the lamb korma - the lamb was overcooked (other reviewers have also noted this tendency) , but the sauce was very tasty! Best onion naan ever - very flavorful and tender. But _instant_ tea? India is where the tea comes from; I expected better tea. Overall, a pretty good meal. Tasty Korma, good service and a great naan for about $20, kinda pricey for the amount of food, but it's pretty good food.

I've been to 3 indian restaurants thus far, looking for the best. So far, this place has struck my fancy. One thing I've noticed, is the curry "butter chicken/seafood" out here in denver. In SF, there are countless indian restuarants and the tikka masala is different. It's creamier and buttery.... and everytime I've ordered tikka masala, it comes out much more tangy than I've expected. But when I order Butter curry, it tastes like the tikka masala I'm used to. Is this an americanized version? There's no butter dish in sf.. so just wondering if anyone noticed this? Anyways, back to my review, lol.. Star of India's decor is on the fancier side which is nice since I'm used to littly sh**** hole-in-the-walls. The service is on point and the naan is made right. Their signature egglplant dish is really yummy as well as their butter dishes. Had it both with prawns and fish. HUGE portions. Not what I was expecting at all. They have a fully stocked bar, which is nice. SF indian restaurants usually never have beer (unless you're going to an expensive americanized establishment which is far and few between) let alone a fully stocked liquor cabinet. NOT complaining;) I dine here alone pretty often and it's never intimidating. I have yet to try their sag dishes and want to try the $8.95 all-you-can-eat buffet soon. See so many happy people. Thumbs-up!

This place is great! The lunch buffet always has a wide variety of tasty selections and they even offer a Sat. evening dinner buffet! The staff is friendly and attentive, and I love that the food on the buffet has some spice to it- usually buffets are so bland. I wish I would have found this place years ago instead of wasting so much time at Little India and other Denver buffets!

I am concerned about the Star of India - I have dined at the restaurant 6 times during the past 3 years and each visit is worse than the previous. While I do like the people who run the restaurant, they need to consider adjusting some of their waitstaff are slow, not particularly friendly and frankly overworked. Traditionally the food has been pretty solid but the last couple of meals have been pretty bad - tasteless, bland food which is pretty hard to accomplish at an Indian restaurant. Staples such as chicken tikka masala and lamb rogan josh were both tough and unflavorful. The dal was pretty solid as was the naan but they need to consider adding some staff in the kitchen to properly prepare these dishes as it feels like they were just pouring the sauce on top of the pre-cooked meats. . . I hope they are able to turn this restaurant around for others, I am unlikely to return. . .

I will say the food is delicious, but I won't return due to the lack of service and the worker's child playing jungle gym in the restaurant. I want to relax at lunch not feel as though I'm in a daycare begging for water (and not getting it). This place could be amazing, but service needs to improve drastically!

Got the butter chicken and it was delicious. Their portion is not as much, but the taste makes up for it. There's also a lunch buffet that I have yet to try but I've heard good things.

This place smells like dirty socks or a gym locker. I was unimpressed as was my wife after kissing her later when I returned home. I heard great things, so I tried it. Never again.

this is probably my favorite restaurant in Denver. I am not a huge fan of the buffet but that is mostly because it's never quite spicy enough for me. I highly recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala for the first timers. I almost always order either Chicken Tikka or Paneer Masala with delicious cheese naan on the side. They will make it as hot or as mild as you'd want it to be. My love usually orders the Lamb Vindaloo or the Lamb Curry with a side of the Meat Samosas. I love, love, love this place and I always find an excuse to go back. MMM Indian Noms.

Oh yeah, this is good stuff. I've been going here for years. Sometimes I do the lunch buffet, with is pretty cheap at $9, and has a so-so selection, but everything tastes really good. For dinner I'm much more picky - I always get the chicken tikka masala (I know, I'm so white) and garlic naan. I've never been disappointed.

This place is great. We LOVE the food. We havent tried their buffet, looks like it doesnt get great reviews. We just order off the menu and were never disappointed. I highly recommend the Chicken Biriyani! The owners are very kind and the servers are great! If you order take-out, you get a HUGE portion.

One of my favorite Indian food places in town because the food is good, the service is great, and the owner is very friendly and remembers us when we go. I had the shrimp tandoori tonight with HUGE shrimp, spiced medium as requested. Hubby had the chicken masala that was creamy and delish as well as his mango lassi. My salad was fresh and good except for pale tomatoes and their garlic naan was thin and very garlicky. Great place in yet another unassuming Aurora strip mall.

This is just about the only thing I miss about moving from Aurora to Denver. They are my favorite Indian restaurant in the metro area. Great food and extremely friendly!

dined here on a sunday for brunch. they offer a buffet 7 days a week. the buffet consisted of several meat and veggie dishes. i would say that it was evenly portioned for both carnivore and vegetarians to indulge in. the dishes were tasty, and i have no complaints, but i can't rave about anything in particular either. naan is complimentary with the buffet, and you have your choice of any naan on the menu. i thought that was pretty cool because it's usually standard that plain naan is the complimentary naan, and any other would cost additional. the service was on point. they were very attentive to clear our soiled plates, and check up on us. they also gave us a sample of mango lassi at the end of our meal. i think this was a special treat because my girlfriend has dined here frequently, and has gotten to know the staff. when i come back to co. i would like to try their dinner fare as i've noticed you get a better taste for a restaurant when you try other than the buffet.

I've been ording food here for about 3 years now and haven't found a better indian restaurant in the Denver Metro area! I recently moved further away yet still trek up to Aurora just for their chicken korma and garlic naan - THE BEST! But what also sets this place apart from other indian restaurants is their wonderful staff and manager! I recently had a snafu (which never happens since I've been going there) and called them up to let them know about the mistake. They immediately got the manager on the line who informed me that he would take care of it by providing me with the same meal for free next time. So, two weeks later I went in and the manager met with me personally to give me the meal! The food was amazing as always and the staff was great! I'll still be treking it up to Star of India!!!

The buffet at Star of India has a vast list of items. I'm not even sure the exact names of what I had. Rice, meatballs, chicken, meat stews, veggie stews, and other veggie items. Went with a party of 11 people and the bill was only something like $106. Pretty cheap for what you get. Baskets of hot naan are delivered to the table. If you want to taste a bunch of different Indian dishes for under $10, go during lunch and get the buffet.
