Don't go here for the sushi, at least. I looove sushi, from the cheap grocery store kind to the $50/meal kind. My standards are not high. Until today, I have never, never left a piece of sushi uneaten on my plate. I've also never had to spit out sushi into my napkin. The worst part was the texture of the salmon - downright rubbery. I'm almost sick just thinking about it. The seaweed was really chewy, too. My husband got the spicy scallop roll that advertised scallions and other items included in it; the roll turned out to just be scallops when it arrived. A couple of the rolls were unnecessarily large. I've never had to pull apart a salmon skin roll in order to eat it - it's ONE INGREDIENT and doesn't need to be in a roll the size of my fist. Yeah, the sushi was pretty much gross, down to the unflavorful rice. I'll give it two stars just in case the hibachi side is edible, but I'll never eat here again.

I've been to Mt. Fuji a few times and it's just okay for me. We went over with a big group of people, about 10 or more and sat at the Hibachi grill. I do enjoy the entertainment there. Uncle "Mika, as he calls himself was hilarious. Think of Mrs. Swan, but actually asian and still very funny with well rounded humor. He was very crafty on the grill as well. It looks like the chefs are there to please but are very personable, which I like. As for the food, I wasn't completely sold. I'm eating very healthy so I ordered Tofu on the hibachi and was not impressed. The tofu fell apart and did not have a good texture. I eat tons of tofu and prepare it many different ways, but this completely lacked overall. The flavors were all there though with the vegetables and weren't over soggy and mushy. I would probably never eat sushi at mount fuji. The quality isn't very good and the originality lacks as well. I think this is a good place to bring your family and a group of friends for some hibachi and entertainment, sushi wise, I would go elsewhere. I do have to say though, the service is great and they are very much so attentive. Would I go back? Maybe just for kicks and giggles.

This place is just like Benihana's where there is an expert slicing and dicing up the food for prep and then cooking them up in front of you. However, the noodles and fried rice was way too salty...too much soy sauce. The portions are definitely big, even the child's portion. We had a lot left over. Thought the cooking and prep work was "fancy", the food really wasn't that great. I'm definitely not a fan of the food there, but I have to say that the cook was entertaining and friendly. Perhaps with another cook the food would not have been so salty but who knows. I don't live in that area so I will not be likely to go there again to find out. Like another Yelper, I think 3 stars is generous for this place.

The sushi here was definitely not impressive. The rolls all seemed the same and was too pricey. The regular sushi and not the rolls were not impressive either. The fish cuts were small. It wasn't horrible, but there are definitely better places around.

Good quality of food but far too roudy. Great place for kids as there's plenty of entertainment by the Chinese/Japanese/American chefs at the Habachi tables. Fried rice & noodles portion way too much and should be served last, not at the beginning. Can put more veggies in fried rice/noodles.

To start off we made reservations for 7 pm and had to wait for at least 45 minutes. They said they were behind and was hoping to seat my party of 7 soon! But we were not the only ppl or group with reservations! There was a group of 15 and small groups of 3 or 2 so the waiting area was so packed that the doors to go outside were open letting all the cold night air in! By the time we set down my nieces were starving but it was totally worth the wait. I had the hibachi salmon and others in my party had the hibachi combos that included shrimp, steak and chicken! Everything from the onion soup to the main entrees was great. Didn't care much for the dressing on the salad. Our drinks never went lower than half and the staff was happy and very attentive!

My husband and I have eaten here at the Hibachi many times. I love the food served at Japanese steakhouses/hibachi restaurants. It's probably one of my favorite cuisines. If you have a party larger than 2, I would recommend calling in a reservation. Typically, my husband and I can get right in. We usually have coupons to help us offset some of the costs. Our last experience was no different than before. We had a fantastic chef! He was very entertaining. As part of the meal, you get miso soup, small salad, rice (we always upgrade to fried rice), noodles, vegetables, shrimp appetizer, and main entree. I ordered shrimp and chicken combination. Miso Soup - pretty good. It's a basic miso broth with green onions floating around. No tofu chunks in this miso soup, unlike others I have had. Salad - very small. Iceberg lettuce with some other veggies and a ginger soy dressing. Fried Rice - my absolute favorite part of the meal! Yum yum! My mouth is watering as I write this. Mmm... it's probably the butter and soy sauce that makes it so good. The chef also added lots of scrambled eggs to it. Noodles - also fantastic. They're your basic Japanese noodles with a little soy sauce and butter. Shrimp - I always get my husband's shrimp since he has a shellfish intolerance. Score! Double shrimp for me. It's cooked in a teriyaki sauce. Chicken - it was really tasty... also cooked in a teriyaki sauce. Good seasonings too. I never find myself salting or peppering any of my food. Vegetables - combination of broccoli, onions, carrots, and who knows what else. It's good though. Would be better with some bean sprouts. You also get a couple sauces on the side. One is a ginger sauce. The other is a creamy orange sauce. I LOVE this sauce. I know it's probably terrible for me, but tastes so good. I pour it all over my food and mix everything together! My husband and I don't mind spending $50 on dinner every one in a while, as long as the food is good. The portions are just right. I actually finished my entire plate... maybe because I worked out during my lunch hour that day and was super hungry. Other Japanese restaurants give you a ton more food, which can be a plus to have the leftovers. I was satisfied with my meal at Mt. Fuji though. No complaints here.

We were so pleasantly surprised with this new addition to the Southlands family. While we're being a bit generous with the Stars, we're doing so on purpose, and admit it's self-serving. We are so starved (pardon the pun) for Non-Corporate Restaurants in this area, that we're hoping a Mt. Fuji success will pave the way for other restaurants to migrate to this mall. While it's obvious that Mt. Fuji is not a Mom/Pop, it's not as Chain-y feeling as Old Chicago or FatBurger, and your other Southlands fare. Service was friendly, and while I didn't understand the explanation of the "Low Carb" Sushi Roll, ("It's low in ingredients") the language barrier didn't interfere in any other way. While more expensive then other restaurants in it's genre, you're paying for the show, that is if you go at the correct times. We happened upon the restaurant at an off time, so it was our bad timing, not the restaurants fault on the lack of floor show. To the restaurant's credit, we had a choice of lunch or dinner since we arrived just as the menus were changing. Most restaurants push you into ordering dinner, instead of giving an option -- Kudos !! Since I'm not the biggest fan of Standard issue Hibachi, I went Sushi and Sashimi, and was generally happy with quality--all but one, I should say. I did order 1 Toro ( 2pc sashimi) , which for $11 should have been wonderful, and it wasn't. The BF had the Yudon Sukiyaki Lunch Special and was very happy with choice. Filled with meat and fresh veggies, it was a yummy and filling choice for him; also was the bargain of the two at about $10. My sushi however was terribly expensive at well over $35. I was also surprised that a Japanese Style restaurant would charge for a tea bag. Usually hot tea is comes with the meal, or if there's a charge it's due to serving a high quality tea, not an Asian version of Lipton. I was put off by that, for sure. Sushi wise, I will probably stick to my favorite, Sushi Den, which is much fresher, and, is actually the same price, or even cheaper then Mt. Fuji. However, I can see us frequently this restaurant for their other offerings. In fact, we were already talking about returning for the night time hibachi show -- so much fun, especially if you have a good table !!

The food was not bad, but not great. The atmosphere is annoying. TV, bright lights. Chuck E Cheese of Japanese food. Several servers kept coming over too check on us too often. The evening ended with a man coming to our table to ask how we were doing. I thought he was the manager so I told him I was annoyed. He told me he was just the house entertainment. I was not in a laughing mood at that point so he went to another table to do his majic tricks.Yes, he wasa magician! I asked to speak with the manager, Al. I told him how unpleasant the night had been and would not be back. He told me if I was that unhappy he did not want me to come back. I won't!

This place is amazing and the food is always delicious. The staff is always friendly and have never waited longer then 15 min. To be seated with a reservation. We always recommend it to our family and friends!

Great sushi, good happy hour specials and other deals, and the hibachi is dinner + entertainment at the same time.

This was tons of fun! Love Hibachi, and the skills of the chefs never cease to impress me! Got broccoli in my face (technically I did catch it with my mouth.. sort of) and almost singed eyebrows (yes, I do exaggerate), and it was quite the show. When it came to the food itself my biggest complaint is "how are you supposed to eat fried rice with chopsticks??" other than that it was a great meal, and it was plenty of it. I'll be back.. whenever i'll be back in CO!

  • Jacob T.

Way overpriced for what it was, service was inattentive and the rice used for sushi was old and mushy. Beware of paying $10 for two pieces of toro, it's frozen, not fresh! The noodle soups were not well balanced, the tempura was gummy from too much flour. A place to not bother return to, go to Monsoon across the street.

Love this place.. yes why the 4 *'s it's fricking expensive.. Hahaha Love the gyoza, and the sushi is delicious. My kids inhale the food here. Atmosphere is fun and exciting It's a go-to for Japanese food for us!

This is my new favorite place! I love everything about it! The food is great my partner had the steak and shrimp hibachi and I of course had sushi. The service was very nice. The servers don't work by sections, they just all help each other which benefits the customer but gets a little tricky when tipping. I will be back!

Well to start off the prices were a little high so we just got a few things a couple appetizers I ordered some fried rice it was just super buttery it just wasn't flavorful at all wasn't too impressed with the service either I feel like I probably could have walked out of there and they would not have even known

One of the best Japanese steakhouses in town! With sushi bar, table service and the hibachi grill there is nothing better. The food is great and the chefs are talented.

The sushi here seems to be the freshest. Is that a word? Well, it is now. We ordered one of their boats, cute little thing, just enough sushi for two, plenty of sashimi and the rolls are nicely proportioned, good selection too. Overall clean place and friendly staff. Haven't tried the hibachi there but from the looks of it, the grill masters or whatever you want to call them can show you a good time!

I had been past this place many times without a thought of stopping in, but the lure of sushi finally hooked me. The decor is pleasant and I was put at ease to see all members of the wait staff without customers were cleaning. The sushi was average. I enjoyed the spicy tuna roll. It was actually spicy. The rest of the rolls were OK, but just. The service was spectacular. I may give this place another shot and go for the hibachi.

Awesome portions at a reasonable price. The salmon rice is a unique fried rice that pleasantly surprised me! Out of the ordinary and very good! You'll only need one order of it to happily feed a family of four. The shrimp tempura could have used a bit more seasoning but overall, I will be coming back again!

My girlfriend and I were looking for a bite to eat before our movie. We walked by Mt. Fuji and thought it looked inviting so we gave it a try. The main dining area was pretty busy for an early Saturday afternoon. I had the Passion Fruit Mojito to drink, which was pretty good and my girlfriend an iced tea. We ordered the Godzilla Rolls, Spicy Scallop Rolls, Wasabi Caviar Rolls and Octopus Rolls. My favorite was the Wasabi Rolls and my girlfriends was the Spicy Scallop. Very flavorful and everything tasted fresh. Service was very good from start to finish. The only negatives I have is it was pretty warm in the main dining area almost to uncomfortable and when I used the restroom there were boxes and trash stacked up by the exit door, which seemed a bit unprofessional and not something you would expect to see in a busy restaurant.

Had graduation dinner with a couple friends. There were about 12 of us. The restaurant is clean and has nice Japanese decorations throughout it. All in all I can say they took excellent care of us. They did their best in making sure our meal was up to our standards and our drinks were always filled. The chef was exceptionally nice and outgoing. My brother and I shared the California, Spicy Tuna, and Salmon rolls. All were quite good. The salad and onion soup were also enjoyable. Of course, the hibachi dinner-which for us consisted of chicken and shrimp- was divine. My brother did say it was a tad bit salty but I had no complaints. I'm glad I chose this place as the one to have a memorable graduation dinner. Thank you Mount Fuji!

Amazing food and great service!!! Love the Hibachi once in a while, the chefs are pretty entertaining!! We go here often and have never had a bad experience. All the staff are extremely friendly and the food is always fresh! Good luck finding parking on the weekends though ;).

I have never had a bad meal here. Ever!!! Service is always good. I have had take out sushi. Great but a bit pricey, and I have had hibachi with the fam at least 8 times a year. It is one of our favorites.

You know good customer service can really go a looong way. We went here one day to check it out. The place wasn't busy at the time so we stood at the front waiting to be seated (as indicated by the sign). We waited and waited...and waited. No one approached us. It was like we were invisible. Another couple popped in and POOF a host magically materialized out of the hibachi smoke to seat them! Needless to say we left. I thought for sure we'd give them another chance eventually, but it's been a couple of years now and we have never been back, and have NEVER had the urge to. I guess it really did leave an everlasting bad taste in our mouths, besides we have other hibachi/sushi places that we love. We never hear anything about this place.

The food was great, it was the pricing I had an issue with. I asked to split the steak hibachi meal with my 9 year old son and they told me that I had to pay $7 to do that. I explained to them that I didn't want any extra food, I simply wanted to share my meal because it was more than I wanted to eat. I found it funny that had I chosen to drive 5 miles up the road to the Mt. Fuji in Parker, I would not have been charged an extra $7 to split my meal, they have a great deal on restaurants.com , and they typically give you more food. Again, the service and food was good I just did not think it was right to charge me for splitting a meal.

Great food, fast service, and the Power Card rewards points can really add up! This is a great sushi restaurant for a date. The booths are comfortable and semi private with decorative glass dividers. The hibachi tables are perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

In this review I'm strictly reviewing the Hibachi portion the restaurant... I get sitting at the hibachi table isn't just about the food, but its also entertainment. My elderly father-in-law likes entertainment so we go when he visits twice a year. Its been a couple years since we've been to Mt. Fuji. During his last visit we went to Miyama in Lone Tree. And now I remember why. Mt. Fuji used to be as good as any other hibachi place. The usual catching the food in the mouth, the onion volcano, the "egg roll". Food had always been fair with the shrimp appetizer (a couple shrimp cut into bit-sized pieces, the tasty but obviously not authentic fried rice, and the grilled steak, and seafood with the ginger-sauce side for meat, and the mayo based sauce for seafood. So what was so bad? The entertainment was performed with no enthusiasm. the food was rushed, the vegetables were oily. The shrimp appetizer was no longer cut into bite size pieces, but left whole. No bean sprouts, but noodles, oily and overly sweet at that.. Just greasy... The hibachi fried rice was not worth the extra 3 dollars. Two eggs in rice split amongst 6 people made the egg almost invisible let alone adding any flavor to the rice. Essence of onion, soy, oil, saki, and rice.. Thats it... It used to have larger chunks of onion some scallions, more egg, and some other minor ingredients and more flavor. The salad now consists of just lettuce and a lone slice of a roma tomato. While I can't remember what it had in it before, it as definitely more than just a tomato slice and lettuce. The soup was again, essence of ingredients, just barely a hint of the actual ingredients which make up the soup. I had the steak and lobster which were "grilled" well, meaning not overcooked. They were tasty but hard to do poorly when you are just grilling it with a bit of butter. The one dipping sauce for seafood was horrible. Almost a mild 1000 Island dressing. It masked the flavor of the seafood. Again, the food was so disappointing, just too greasy... The restaurant is also in need of a deep cleaning. The Hibachi area reeked of old grease. The control area for the hibachi tables need a good cleaning as do the floors. It had that mild stickiness that comes from years of frying and only mild cleaning. Then to top it off they automatically added a 15% tip to the total. At least it did not leave tip line on the charge slip. I'm usually a good tipper and will give 15% even when service is so-so, but I dislike not having a choice... If you want hibachi and live in the southern part of the Metro Denver area, try Miyama...

I always have fun when I come here! So much food to share and the staff is super nice! Worth every penny! My favorite hibachi, I always enjoy every minute of the hibachi especially the part when you actually eat it!

This place is absolutely excellent. I ordered scallops on the hibachi and I was a little nervous that they would be over cooked. They were cooked perfectly and everything just kept getting better from there. Excellent sushi, fried rice is some of the best I've ever had. I would highly recommend this place!

I've been coming here for a long time, but as of recently friends and I have become less and less impressed. Aside from the convenient location, I can't give the sushi more than 2 stars. Particularly since the last time I ate here (1 week ago) a roll we ordered was so bad only two pieces were consumed. Likewise, the entrees have always trailed behind other sushi places as far as quality. The teriyaki chicken dinner was TERRIBLE. Never have I had watered down teriyaki sauce and chewy chicken. The hibachi grill on the other hand is always fun but no longer enough to make me come back.

Awful. Manager doesn't speak English. Gluten free option was wrong. The chef sprayed regular soy sauce then said oops and tried to make it gf but it was already ruined. Just awful !!!

Mediocre food, mediocre entertainment, stingy portions, and somewhat expensive. We've visited Mt. Fuji twice as it is very close to our home. Our first experience was dismal. While the service was friendly, the chef was slow and not very inspired. I believe that a significant portion of why you go to a Japanese steakhouse and pay the premium is for the show. The food that evening was prepared reasonably well, but the portions were very small, especially for the price. Our second outing was for a friend's birthday and he is a huge fan of asian cuisine. He was gracious, but not overly impressed. We felt it was a repeat performance from our first visit and we know there are much better Japanese steakhouses around town. This one is a pass.

If you like real Japanese food, this is not the place for you. This is your typical American Japanese food hall. They have folks who are of Asian ancestry (Japanese, Korean, Chinese - any of these will do - most Americans can't tell them apart anyway) and they put on the usual silly kung fu chef show. The food isn't awful but neither is it very good. The seafood tastes like soy sauce. The chicken tastes like soy sauce. The rice tastes like soy sauce. The vegetables taste like soy sauce. I didn't try dessert. I was afraid it might taste like soy sauce. If you love soy sauce, this is your place!

  • Renee S.

Hibachi is entertaining and the sushi was OK. We've visited often but the place has slipped. We used to have great service and good sushi, and those shooters but now don't go here anymore... there's a lot of other places to go that aren't as expensive for what you get and taste more fresh.

I started with the house seaweed and crab salad, then I tried some Eel and Mackeral sushi, some salmon sashimi and two of their house rolls (the Godzilla and the spicy jalapeno one) and I thought the fish itself was very fresh and well prepared. The seaweed salad was very good, although it was $15. After paying my bill, I couldn't fit together how a salad, two sushi, a sashimi and two rolls came to $64 after tip. And I didn't even have a drink! I resolved that it's a matter of relativity. When everything is overpriced then something crazy overpriced like a $15 seaweed salad doesn't look so out of place. The spicy jalapeno roll was so hot it took 5 minutes to recover from each piece so that's not always a good thing. But overall the fish was good and the waiters and chefs were extremely friendly. I think every server and the manager said goodbye and thank you for coming when I left. I requested real fresh wasabi but the don't carry it so I chatted with the manager and told him it's a big attraction for sushi fanatics. If their prices were 20% lower it would still be kind of pricey but do-able. Not so much at this price point.

This is a little sushi and hibachi place in Southlands mall. I haven't ever tried the hibachi, but I've had sushi there a couple of times, and it's always been good. They have a great appetizer that's baby octopus (I know it sounds weird, but it's actually really good), and they have very fresh fish so the hamachi and all the other nigiri is always really good. And the last time I went there I tried the fried sweet potato and avocado sushi, both of which are a good substitute if you can't/don't eat fish. The service is very friendly there and they offer a frequent diner card that earns rewards very quickly.

Mt Fuji is a very nice higher-end sushi restaurant. I am not a seafood fan, so always order from the hibachi menu. I have not eaten on the hibachi side, but there are often cheers and laughter coming from that part of the dining room. I think that, while prices are a bit steep, you do get quite a bit of food. I almost always have enough to share or take home. The sushi varieties are vast and my husband has liked each kind that he has ordered. The presentation is always impressive. Watch in the mail and Neighborhood magazines as they often have coupons available.

Mt Fuji is the best place my family and I go if we are in the mood for sushi and don't want to drive to far for it. We love the staff and really don't have anything bad to say about it. If you are in the south lands area I recommend enjoying the entertaining style that this restaurant offers and try the dynamite rolls!!

Went for a date night. Other than the fact we had somewhat intrusive and annoying hibachi neighbors, not the fault of this venue, our experience here was quite pleasant! We started off with the Sushi Appetizers and had the Tofu Hibachi. Besides being a little bit too much on the buttery side for our taste-buds, it very delicious! We'll be back!

Service sucks. At first, the manager said we could bring in Champaign for a birthday party and after we brought in the 3 bottles (between 3 tables) they wanted to charge $15/bottle corking fee!

  • Robin B.

I've tried the sushi and the hibachi and both are mediocre for the price. I would go here again for HH which stars cheap sushi, appetizers and selected drinks. Most likely would not do the hibachi again unless it was just for fun with a large group. The fried rice was boring, the miso tepid and the scallops a bit chewy. The chef was entertaining but I was disappointed when he tossed a piece of broccoli the size of Texas at me to catch. Having finely tuned reflexes, I was able to duck and avoid injury of the veggie kind. It's entertaining once but an encore is not required.

  • Alia Z.

This place is pretty cheap for sushi, with surprisingly big portions. Unfortunately that does show in the quality - the fish isn't as fresh as it could be. The seafood and seaweed salad is very tasty, but everything else was just OK. If it wasn't so inexpensive, I would probably knock another star off.

Sushi was great! Boyfriend and I came here for dinner on our 2 year anniversary, and we left full and satisfied. Sushi was fresh, and every roll we ordered was absolutely amazing. I love how you can order rolls with brown rice too. The service is awesome too. Our server checked on us frequently, and offered us good recommendations for drinks. He also surprised us with a complimentary scoop of vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce saying happy anniversary :) how thoughtful! Truly went above and beyond. Even though me and my boyfriend had food babies in our bellies, we made room, lol. Will definitely be coming back again!

I went here with my husband and father-in-law and we sat at the hibachi for our meal. We were all very impressed and we plan on returning. The hibachi is a fun experience and we have never had an issue with the food quality coming from a hibachi grill. I ended up ordering a tofu meal that was not cooked on the hibachi, while both my husband and FIL got the steak hibachi dinner. The salad and soup were excellent. My tofu dinner was sub-par, but not inedible. The fried rice wasn't great. I thought it was just the tiniest bit dry and lacking a bit in the flavor department. On the other hand, both my husband and FIL were going ga-ga over their steaks. It takes a truly talented restaurant to serve enough for one meal to fill up my FIL, but he was stuffed to the brim and I found that very satisfactory. I also noticed that this retaurant, even during the time we were there and it was jam-packed with groups of prom-goers, was very thoughtful of all its guests and they did a great job at staying on top of their service for everyone. I have gone to hibachi before and they all seem to fling food at you to catch in your mouth. The last place I went to flung shrimp, which is nice and all, but I'm vegetarian and they always hassle me when I decline. I was pleasantly surprised this time around when they used broccoli florets instead, which I happily caught and earned myself a round of applause from my table and an excited shout from our chef. I like the variety, I like the service, I like the atmosphere. It was a bit expensive, coming out to $30 per person, but for the amount of food you get we felt it was well worth it and we intend to return for another great dining experience.

Personally I loved it. Great food, great atmosphere, and reasonable prices. Just wish they had knob creek. Oh and I recommend the heart attack roll. It's not all that spicy but you can't beat the flavor.

Best cream cheese wontons EVER!!!! Gets busy on the weekends but the ladies at the front were very quick to help is place a to go order! I was not a huge fan of the tempura chicken and veggies. Next time we will try the sushi... maybe that would be a better option.

I am only reviewing the Hibachi Grill - The food isn't bad - just not what I was expecting nor what I was looking for. I've been to many Jap Steakhouses and this seems pretty par for the course but I wasn't expecting small portions or to pay extra for fried rice - shouldn't that come with my meal? Is it because Colorado is a healthy state that they make you pay extra for the added calories? Perhaps I'm a small town girl with ideas that you get what you pay for but in reality, I paid for more than I got... After dinner, the Hubs and realized we should have gone to J.Alexander's - would have paid the same price and had an Orgasmically Delicious meal instead.

Our favorite sushi spot in Denver. A little on the pricey end ($10-15 per sushi plate, usually need 2 to feel "full"), but the quality is definitely there. The peppered tuna is especially well executed, along with many of their other fusion creations. The staff is incredibly attentive and amiable, and you can expect fast service even at the sushi bar.

Although it's been there a while, we just discovered Mt. Fuji about a year ago and it's easily become our favorite restaurant. It's great for date night, but it is also a very family friendly place. In the short time we've been going there, we are on first name basis with many of the staff members and they always supply coloring sheets and crayons for our girls. The food is spectacular, whether you are doing sushi or the hibachi. We recently celebrated my mother-in-law's birthday there (also her favorite place). The day prior my husband and I stopped in for lunch and mentioned to her favorite server (Lei - not sure of the correct spelling) that we would be back to celebrate the next day. At the end of the birthday meal, my MIL was presented with a cake by Lei! I think it's outstanding customer service that they went above and beyond to make her birthday special. Lei is a wonderful waitress and always goes out of her way to make the meal special. I would agree with some other reviewers that Mt. Fuji is a little pricey; however when you receive service like I've described, it's completely worth it.

We have tried this place a couple times and each time we were disappointed! Tonight when all the other restaurants in the area had a 60+ min wait this place was not busy ( bad sign for a Saturdayt night). The sushi is not fresh and I actually got sick after eating it! This is not a real or a good sushi restaurant! And for the $, go try a different place! I gave this place 1 star because I had to but would actually give it negative stars!! This is horrible!!!

I've never had poor service or a bad meal at this place. The rewards program is great, and the prices are reasonable.

Never over crowded and always yummy sushi. Prices are good and the seafood is fresh. The fact that they have parking is also a bonus!

I normally frequent the Mt Fuji in Castle Rock, but I was at the Southlands Mall today and got a hankering for some sushi! The ambience is much nicer than the Castle Rock location (which I still love!) and the menu is larger than the Castle Rock location. Our food was fresh and delicious, and the service was good. I also love the prices. Can't go wrong here. Only one complaint - the Green Devil Roll was not as spicy as I like.

I made reservations for 5 earlier in the day and when we arrived it was just a few minutes of a wait. The tables seat around 10 so you will be sitting with other people in the hibachi side. The food was great. The hibachi starts at $15 for veggie on up to $30 for lobster/combo. The showmanship was nice. Not over the top but fun. They fling broccoli in your mouth, or in my case the side of my face since I wasn't able to catch it well. We did not have sushi so I can't speak on that part. The service was great. They refilled beverages consistently and cleared empty plates quickly.

We went here last month for a birthday dinner for one of my friends. There were approx. 12 of us. We were seated on time (we had a reservation) at a hibachi table, which we split with another group, who had been there for a little while. The guy who did their hibachi seemed like a lot of fun- it was a birthday for them too, and he kept squirting rounds of sake in their mouths, throwing shrimp around, flipping eggs in the air, etc. Basically the sort of thing you expect from hibachi. Once he got around to our side (it could have been someone else, as his back was to me when he was working witht he other group, and then he left for a little bit), there was very little "showmanship" to the meal. I think that's really one of the fun parts about this sort of restaurant, so that was a bummer. The food itself was quite tasty, though. It turned out to be pretty expensive- about $70 each for our entrees and enough sake to get everyone buzzed (we also split the birthday boy's meal and drinks evenly among ourselves). If the guy had been hooking us up with sake like he had the other group, we probably would have spent a lot less on booze, but whatev. It's not like we are owed free sake, it was just kinda a bummer after he went round after round with the people sitting right next to us. What really killed the experience for me, though, was that they totally skipped the shrimp course for everyone. We were all sitting around a couple days later, and it came up that (a) the meal was expensive and (b) we felt like you usually get more courses when you go for hibachi. So I pulled up the menu, and sure enough they totally skipped our shrimp course. Skipping the salad or the soup or something would be one thing (still annoying), but they skipped the thing that is probably most expensive for the restaurant, and I found that particularly grating. I called the restaurant and very politely explained that we had come in with a group earlier in the week and that one of the courses had been skipped. I gave them our reservation information, the occasion, where we sat, etc. Since we spent about $850, and they totally bailed on a course, I assumed they would offer some sort of recompense or, at the very very least, be apologetic. The manager was a jerk. He pretty much accused me of lying about it, and got on my ass about not calling the day after- like it took a few days to come up with my master diabolical plan to defraud the hibachi joint. Sorry my friends and I didn't plan a group gathering 12 hours later to discuss our restaurant experience. He said he would figure something out and call me back. Never called. I called again the next week, and the "manager was busy" and didn't call me back that time either. So basically we spent nearly a grand, they messed up (sorry I'm not sorry, skipping an entire course is kinda significant in my book), and they couldn't have cared less. It would have been lame, but at least honest, if the guy was like "Oh wow, that's really crappy. Unfortunately, there isn't much I can do about it now, but we are really sorry." Instead he was rude, implied I was a liar, said he would figure it out and call me back, and then didn't. Twice.

I've dined at Mt. Fuji multiple times in the past. It's pretty much the go-to sushi place for my husband and I because it's a short drive, and we're lazy. :/ I've never tried the hibachi, so I can only comment on the sushi and related dishes on the menu (edamame, gyoza, udon, etc.). And my comment is: consistent. The sushi and sashimi have never been bad, the service has always been polite and expedient, and we've always enjoyed ourselves. For a suburban sushi place, it's got our vote.

Service was very good, food was ok but the atmosphere is very lacking in the non hibatchi general dining area of the restaurant. It's a bit pricy for the overall product.

Mrs. K took me to Mt. Fuji for Fathers Day today. We have been here many times before, it's one of my favorites. In the mold of Benehana with pretty much the same fare, but for a little lower price. Lets start with the Sushi. Everytime I've had it here it's been fresh and delicious. Not sure why the other reviewers are knocking it, we've never had a bad piece. Today we got the Sushi Appetizer prior to the Hibachi. Two tuna, two salmon, two red snapper, shrimp and crab and a California Roll. The tuna was awsome and I loved the salmon. I like a little more spicy selections but Mrs. K doesn't like spicy and I love it all. =] The Hibachi is always wonderful. Steak and Scallops for the Mrs. and Steak and Shrimp for me. The Hibachi Chefs are always professional and do a fantastic job. The food is always prepared perfectly. The only thing missing on this Fathers day were my Sons, I wish that they could have enjoyed this with me today. But needless to say, I enjoyed it very much and loved spending the day with my lovely wife. =] Oh, just one peice of critisism, I wish the Hibachi Chefs would shae it up a bit with regards to thier routines. It's always the same show, in the same order, every time. A little more spontinaety would make each visit a little more memorable. -MK

Great sushi! Love the menu since it lists all ingredients in each roll. Lots of options. Have not tried a roll I didn't like! Service is always excellent, too. We've done the hibachi bar on a handful of occasions and were disappointed only once.

This is our favorite sushi place by far, beats Sonoda's downtown and Shinjuku in Aurora by a mile. The servers and host are always very friendly and helpful, never rude or dismissive. The seafood salad and spring rolls are heavenly. The sushi is always fresh and delicious. It's a little pricey, but good sushi normally is.

I am reviewing/rating this as a sushi bar. Suggest you read some of the other reviews if sushi is not your thing, because it is a truly entertaining place if you're into Benihana-style hibachi experiences. Anyway - the sushi. Service: My wife and I came in around 7pm and were immediately seated at the sushi bar (good!). Asked if they do 'omakase' and had to explain what that meant to the surfer-dude waiter, who gave some funny non-answer about how the chefs do what they want anyway (meh). We ordered the Sashimi Deluxe to share, and some 20 minutes later were served the Sushi Deluxe instead. To their credit, they served us a couple of free apps while they fixed it and they got us the right plate within about another 7-10 minutes. We also found later that they knocked one round of drinks off our tab. So really, great service IMHO. Food: The sashimi was good, not the freshest ever, but good and generously cut. Still hungry, we ordered a couple of rolls (I think the double spicy roll and some other special). The rolls were, well, "saucy", for lack of a better word. Mt. Fuji is one of those places that likes to put some kind of mayo or mayo-like substance (white death, as far as I am concerned) on virtually all their rolls. Especially their special rolls. The rolls were nothing special and finding something not mayo-laden was a little challenging. Anyway, great service, food is edible but not inspiring, and it's smack dab in the middle of Southlands. Come for the entertainment, the service, the location, but not necessarily the sushi!

I've been going to Mt Fuji for about 3 years now for speacial occasions. I have always made reservations and not once have they failed me. Always on time!! Entertainment is great on the hibachi grill. Food has always tasted awesome. Nothing to say bad about them. I didn't give a five star" but almost did" just because of the portion size of entree they give you. I think for the price they could give you a little more but all in all, they are a great restaurant with good food.

Nothin special here. Wasn't too impressed. I got the sushi lunch special, with a full california roll and 5 pieces of sushi. I wasn't very impressed that the one of the "sushi" was imitation crab. I understand imitation crab in the california, but at least give me some fresh fish on the sushi!

I went to this restrnt last night with my fiancee. The service was bad. I ordered sushi as app n hibachi as my entree. I waited for 1/2 hour just to get my entree that came first before my entree. The sushi was not that good, taste like the fish isn't fresh, and the hibachi was awful. It was cold and has no taste. I talked to the owner and seems like he doesn't even care. He just told me that he was sorry. And he didn't even do anything like change my food or anything. I defintely won't come back to eat at this Mt. Fuji. Don't ever try to eat at this restaurant if u don't want to get disappointed and feel like just wasting money like i felt.

I've been here a couple times with friends who swear by this place. There's nothing real fancy about it, although the staff is way more attentive than Benihanas. I'm always disappointed coming into these places where not one person speaks Japanese. I didnt realize that this place was affiliated with the one out in HR. the food has always been good here. I've had hibachi lunch and a lot of the sushi rolls. The bad thing is that after I have eaten here, it tears my stomach up. Think along the lines of montezumas revenge!! KDVR has been doing restaurant reviews and I haven't seen this place listed, but I did click on the link they had for the local health department. I curiously ran a search on this place and was shocked to see so many infractions! Here I thought I just had a sensitive stomach to the sushi, but now I wonder if its something more. Tried talking to the sushi guys but I don't think they understood me. They just nodded and smiled, though one did say thank you when I put money in the tip jar. Miso soup is bland, but the hibachi soup is really good. Ask for dressing on the side if you get a salad, because they tend to drench it in the dressing. I would go there again with my friends because they always pick it as the meet up spot, but I'm definitely going to keep a eye on what I eat and how it affects me.

Mt. Fuji Japanese Cuisine - A Haiku Its not the Sushi Den Its better than Bennihana Chili's of Japan I have never had the Hibachi part of this restaurant. The main reason being that Hibachi sucks. Its a gimmick. Nobody actually likes to eat at a Hibachi. You go because Hibachi is an experience. Like Casa Bonita. . . . As far as sushi goes, this place will fit the bill. Its reasonably priced and fits in a nice niche between the bargain basement rotting death rolls of the all you can eat joints and the price legit fish rolls of the better places. Its not going to win any awards, but sometimes thats okay.

I don't eat at the Hibachi tables here (or any other Japanese restaurant - don't care for way the food is prepared or sitting around the table with a bunch of strangers). but the sushi, sashimi, and rolls are above average. I have eaten here a number of times and never had a bad experience. The wait staff has always been helpful, attentive and friendly. The price for a decent meal here is very reasonable. Their Sake selection is also quite good. After living in Japan for a while, I have learned to appreciate a good Gekkeikan sake. Their Sake menu features a good selection of the Gekkeikan brand.

This place has great sushi if you stick with the basic fishes. I never go for any of the crazy huge rolls, I usually just order a sushi or sashimi dinner, or a few of the small rolls. Their tuna, salmon, yellowtail are pretty good. My husband likes to order the dynamite and shrimp tempura udon. I've tried a bit of his food and it's pretty good too, especially the tempura udon. The tempura comes on a separate plate, so it doesn't get all soggy. The only time we had a problem was when we ordered blue fin tuna- it's always pretty expensive about $10 for 2 pieces of sashimi, and it is usually extremelyyy good (at other places). But here, it was still partially frozen and tasted really fishy when we got it. But that aside, this place is pretty good. If you're looking for an extremely extremely good sushi place though, go to Sushi Den. It costs about the same, but they serve the best sushi ever!

A friend brought me here for lunch and had the Hibachi for the first time. What a horrible experience this was. The fried rice was so greasy, the vegetables were burnt and bitter and I couldn't finish my scallops due to the fact that they were grainy and salty. Will never eat here again, total waste of money.

Very similar to Benihana, but slightly cheaper. They have Happy Hour here from 3-5:30 so if you get there early, you can get 2 for 1 on well beer and drinks. A hibachi table dinner is great to bring visitors or large groups to. Unlike the location in Parker, the service is excellent here. You won't have an empty drink glass, unless you refuse a refill. Fun family experience. Sushi bar too if you'd like to watch them make it. Love that you get rice AND noodles with your hibachi meal!

Its been a while since I've eaten at this Mt. Fuji location but I've been in at least twice over the last year. The food has been so-so, on my last visit I ordered Hibachi but did not sit at the grill/table. What I ended up with was a slightly more than lukewarm plate or rice, veggies, and chicken that was dry and tough. Service has always been decent. I won't be back.
