Hmm despite the last review, I'm pretty sure this place is still open. I've been there recently - within the past 3 months. It's my one of my stops for something quick and cheap. I've heard people give this place bad reviews because it's not the most clean of restaurants, and the food is just "okay." But I give the place props. Where else can you get generous servings of decent Chinese food for under $5? Granted most of the stereotypical cons of of a quaint Chinese restaurant can be attributed to this particular one: the place is a little dirty, the food is sometimes too heavy, there are rumors of mysterious sesame chicken meat... But let's be real, sometimes we all crave it anyway. Sometimes we need a humble serving of hole-in-the-wall Lo Mein/Fried Rice, Sesame Chicken, Crab Cheese Wontons and Hot & Sour Soup w/ a Lemon Nestea (My personal order I've been getting for years). To be perfectly fair, I've had Chinese buffet food that was definitely much worse than Happy China. The food is decent and not dirty. One more point of observation is that the entire staff (probably the owner's family) is Chinese, which means that the food is safe to call authentic homestyle Chinese. They're pretty chill and are good at accommodating for your order if needed. I don't care what other people say, I will continue to eat here. Happy China was there when I was a broke student... actually I'm still a broke student and, fortunately, they are still in business and their loyalty to very affordable prices perseveres in these harsh economic times. Like with any restaurant like this, you may hate it or love it or learn to love it, but either way it's worth a shot. Stay hungry my friends!

We used to love Happy China until we got terrible terrible food poisoning from it last year. Worst sickness i've ever suffered! Not sanitary in our opinion!

Love this place. Good food, large serving sizes, very affordable. was worried they might close when a chain chinese restaurant opened close by, but they are still hanging in there. Food is as good as at the large chain but costs half as much.

Health department needs called. No worries I'll do that. UNSANITARY. Food was very chewy and questionable. new rice and pees mixed in with old stale stuff. I was wondering why they were soo generous with the helpings. Gotta be something better for the price.

Yes, this place is definitely still open! Above-average cheap steam-table chinese food. I've gotten some special-order dishes too; though they're more expensive, they're also quite good. Best place to fill up for under $5.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
