Went here for dinner on a Thursday and was seated quickly. The staff was friendly and drinks were always full. Service was standard and the food was good. It was a little greasy even more so than most Mexican food. Chips and salsa were good too. I would go back to give it a second try.

LOVE this place! We just recently discovered Ajuua and it's now one of our regular restaurant places. Great food and great service.

I am definitely a fan of Ajuua! The menu is extensive and the selections are more authentic than your chain Mexican restaurants (i.e. On the Border). The wait staff is friendly, the prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. I love the Tacos Del Carbon - they are my faves. The 4 corn tortillas with steak, cilantro, onions and a green chile salsa is a simple dish with some heat! It is sort of their version of street tacos. Even my husband, who tends to get the same thing everywhere he goes (ground beef burrito with green chile), is a fan! Big portions and yummy food make it a place we keep going back too!

Beware of contents inside! Menu items may not come out as described. Some of you may have seen this restaurants coupon ad that comes in the coupon mailer and said to your self hey not bad deal... especially this one entree free with purchase of another entree $8.95 or less GOOD LUCK finding something on the menu that meets that requirement. I decided on the all you can eat enchiladas on Wednesday deal. The selection was great I thought it was just going to be cheese enchiladas only. But here is where I have a problem.... the menu clearly says the Chile Colorado is made of ROAST BEEF, I double check to make sure there's no Pork in the chile and the waitress says no.... my question should have been was there Pork anywhere on the dish? For religious and personal reasons I do not eat pork, I think many of you can understand that. So when I get my meal... careful the plates are freakin hot!!! I start eating away and when my server comes back to check on the meal, my vegetarian friend asked if there was meat in the Chile Colorado (not knowing that's what I was eating) and the waitress confidently replies yes it contains PORK! WTF!!! I just ate half of my meal. I really don't want to get into the conversation I had with the manager, who was not really the manager just the guy put in charge that night per his response when I asked him if he was the manager. But evidently management has been aware for months that the menu states roast beef but it's really pork. Thank God i'm not allergic to pork, but I can't believe that it's really no big deal between the difference in what they're selling from what they're serving.

Ajuua is a great authentic Mexican restaurant w/o all the yuppie flare that many Denverites expect from pseudo-Mexican places like Hacienda Colorado. "Mexican food with altitude." Give me a break. This is a local chain, which I always appreciate, and they have a HUGE menu, which they regularly update. There really is something for everyone here. Their regular size margarita is 18 oz. - plenty for me. While this location is much smaller than others in the Denver area, it's usually not too hard to get a seat. Service in generally good, however, sometimes speed and communication are a little lacking. The chips and salsa are consistently good (always a good gauge of a Mexican restaurant), and the rice is yummy. For something a little closer to authentic, give this one a try.

Great for a nice family outing in the neighborhood! Kids love it, service is quick and cost is reasonable.

Fast, friendly, good food, large margaritas. All good things.

This is a duplicate Ajuua. Not sure what happened but someone changed the zip code on the real one and moved it, and then we have a new one with the right zip code.. but whatever. Regardless, this place is good enough that I'm willing to review it twice. Service here is always excellent. Food is yum and the drinks are nice and large. They're prone to filling up at dinner time because they're so small, but the food comes out quick so it's usually not a big deal.

Food was great, Ricardo's margarita is fabulous, service was fantastic. This just became our go-to Mexican. Yummmmm!

Have eaten there about a dozen times with the whole family. Like the food. Always have received attentive service. Have recommended the place to many friends and acquaintances. Always tipped 25% +. Tonight however the waiter basically ignored us. Like Chad N. commented on 3/24/15 we got the chip crumbs and never offered a refill until the waiter was at the next table where I waved at him for about 60 seconds and he finally made eye contact. Idiot got a 10% tip, a bad rating for the business on yelp, and lost my business until I maybe forget the bad experience.

Frequent this location weekly, sometimes twice a week. Great service and I love the food. I've tried quiet a few in the area and so far, this location of Ajuua is the best. I love the chips and salsa and my fave soft chile relleno so far.

We have been fans of Ajuua since 2007 (@ Tamarac) but things have gone down hill at this location. We ordered, and 5 minutes later, our food arrived. They did not even pretend to cook it, just a zap in the microwave. My wife still likes the place, but I don't care for it. The one on Iliff still seems to care though, and I had good food there.

Food is quite good. Authentic Mexican food. Friendly staff and outstanding margaritas. The Ricardo's is very good by loving the perfect marg!

Service wasn't that great as slow as it was. I asked for a steak burrito which should have 9.99. I actually pointed to it on the menu. I got the check and it showed 13.99. They brought out the bigger one I didn't ask for. And the Green chile was bland. No refills on drinks. I would have rather gone to OTB

Friendly wait staff and pretty good food. Had the Arroz con Pollo, the sauce was very tasty. Nothing to write home about really, but worth a stop if you're in the neighborhood.

Date(s) visited: about 2 times. Food/Drink: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 Price: 4/5 Parking: 5/5 "A PLACE WHERE YOU CAN GET ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT TACOS" Food/Drink: While I was here I tried the Chicken Mole (because I LOVE Mole') and the Taco Buffet for around $7.99. With the Chicken Mole I really liked the sauce they used but thought the chicken was a little "dry". They serve their tacos "two at a time" until you can no longer keep ordering more. I have to say I was quite stuffed after I had my third taco and could not go a third round. Service: The servers here are always very friendly and professional. Great Service... Atmosphere: This place definitely has a Mexican feel and when you look around, you can see all kinds of Southwest pieces that add to the ambiance of the restaurant. The one thing I found a LITTLE disappointing was the fact that the place did not offer any dishes that had cactus in it. There are many great and authentic Mexican restaurants that offer cactus on their menu. I just wished that a place that looked and felt so authentic would've made it available to their customers (and I say this in a nice way!) Price Decent...You'll find a lot of items on the menu for less than $10. Parking: Free parking in front of the building. MY THOUGHTS? I would come to Ajuua again since they do have great specials. I also enjoyed the service and for the most part can appreciate the authenticity of this restaurant. RECOMMENDATIONS: Try their Taco Buffet (but know that they only do it one day out of the week). Here are some of their other specials: ajuua.com/specials/index…

I finally checked this place, and I will not be returning! First off the service is S...L...O...W!!! We were there for a total of a hour and a half. Our server kept walking by our table avoiding eye contact with us. I thought maybe it was just our server, but then realized the table by us that had been sitting there before we were seated had not been waited on yet either. When our server brought out our drinks I noticed that my glass was not clean. I had to ask for another one, and when our appetizer came out the plates he sat down were also dirty. SERIOUSLY?!?! The food was bland and nothing special. I have had better food from taco bell. Their prices are over priced for what you get. Definitely not worth the bill. At the end I had to flag down our server for our bill and ended up having the hostess ring us out. SAVE YOUR SELF THE TROUBLE AND DO NOT COME HERE!!!!

Being from California and having a wife whose family is not far removed from their origins in Mexico, I had high hopes for this place. If by certified "Authentic Mexican" they mean bland salsa and rice, then they've hit the mark. I will say that the Carnitas were decent as was the chicken and refried beans. The service was ok, nothing spectacular; our server was nice. We sent back our iced teas, because they had a decidedly "fishy" taste. The water we had was fine, so there must be something wrong with their iced tea maker. The place is a little pricey considering the atmosphere and quality of the food. I don't see my family and me going back there or to any of the other restaurants in this chain.

Went there because of a Groupon. Very good food! Fun atmosphere. However the service is SLOW. It took our server over 15 minutes to acknowledge us yet she assisted the table next to us 4 times! At one point, she finally acknowledged my "will you please help us?" gaze by giving me the "peace" hand symbol as she buzzed around the restaurant. I could have accepted this, however the restaurant was not very busy. Our waitress got my order wrong. She offered to correct it. Because it took so long to get our food I decided to let it go. I may try the Denver location next time. This is my second experience with that waitress. I wasn't impressed with her either time.

Awful service, bland-tasting food, overpriced menu. No thanks. Real de Minas off Arapahoe and Parker is a much better option! Or make the trip to Hacienda Colorado in Lone Tree. This place is a waste of time -- rude servers, dirty restaurant, long wait times and inattentive service. Take your money somewhere else.

Nice little place to eat. Salsa was fresh and had a nice little kick to it. Chip were always warm. Ordered the cheese and chorizo dip, it was very good. For my meal I had the carne asada burrito it was good as well.

They have phenomenal street tacos and margaritas!! Great neighborhood restaurant. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. Good place for solid food.

This should be 4 stars however the lack of service dropped them an extra star. Was waiting to be seated for several minutes even though it was slow with many extra tables. We were given chip crumbs and asked for more chips that never showed up. Food overall was not bad at all. Enchiladas had random bits of potatoes that i assume were from breakfast? But whatever... Solid 3.5 overall. Could be more with better service.

Was excited to try this authentic Mexican restaurant, but we we're sadly disappointed. Server was slow and food was blah. Order shrimp enchiladas $12.99 and got two small corn tortillas with very little shrimp and the flavor was blah left still hungry. Boyfriend ordered the house burrito and the beef had grissle although the portion was good size tasted ok but grissle turned him off.

Food was okay. The tamales were good, service was good, place was a bit crowded. Not sure we'll be back. Still searching for the perfect Mexican restaurant. The search goes on.

hair in our food, 20 minutes for any type of service because there was only 2 servers, asked for 2 tacos on the side and they came out covered in green chile. Ordered sour cream and guacamole and it came out 15 minutes after the food...adult cartoons on the tv...they should be very embarrassed. Would give 0 stars if allowed.

Great family restaurant. Great food. Good people. Great local business. I just recently found this place...I drive by it every week and never made a point to try it. My goto has always been Chipotle but not anymore. Honestly the Asada Steak Tacos are excellent.

The more I come here, the more disappointed I am. Meat is made chili like, too much salt on their chips and guac is tasteless.

Service was excellent.. Food was a bit off. I ordered a shredded beef and bean burrito and bean tostada combo and got a shredded beef tostada with a ground beef burrito?!?! Probably won't be back.

If you have a coupon to this place don't even bother stopping in. They don't really give you the worth of what your trying to save with a coupon. The manager is very rude and disrespectful. I've giving this place over 4 chances and nothingn is ever changed. They always try to over charge every bill and will don't give a correct portion for what you pay for. There was also a hair in my burrito last time I went and they did nothing to make it right. I'll never be coming back here

Went here on Valentine's Day. We waited for over an hour for our food. Never got it. There were 3 tables that arrived after us and they got their food first. When it was mentioned to our waitress she said they were there first which was bull. Waited 10 more minutes then said to heck with it and left. The places was half empty and being busy was not the issue. When we were leaving we were ask if we wanted our food to go? Really, no we wanted to sit and eat at the table. I will never go here again and I wish people luck when you do.

Authentic Tex-Mex!! If you want authentic Tex-Mex, this is the place. As a transplanted Texan, I know my way around Tex-Mex. No, you're not going to get cactus on this menu- this is not a southwest restuarant-it's Tex-Mex. Warm fresh chips and the obviously in-house made salsa are always good. Margaritas are great with good kick and the Tacos al Pastor are just the right size and used proper plating (just small corn tortillas with the cheese & meat) with condiments (cilantro, onions etc) on the side. Good job with the rice and beans too - the obvious side to most dishes. My family has been here several times and we always enjoy the food. The service can get a bit thin on busy nights but all-in-all, this place is a winner. We will be back.

Chips and salsa is amazing! The service has always been impeccable . I love the pork carnitas tacos and they are juicy and fantastic. Can't beat the deals and groupons!

  • Marcus R.

This place isn't very big and not much of a waiting area, so hope they can get you right in. The chips and water guy was on top of his game. Though our server took some time to get to us and hardly ever checked up on us. Chips and salsa were pretty standard, though I liked the salsa quite a bit. Girlfriend had taco salad. She liked it though the shell looked like it sat in the fryer a little too long. I had the carnita street tacos. They were actually pretty tasty. This place was pretty good overall. I guess I should cut the server some slack b/c there was two homecoming parties there.

Ajuua - a Haiku In the mood for a tasty Mexican delight? Adios Señor There isn't a ton to say about Ajuua. You have probably been to 30 Mexican Restaurants just like this one. It's average in every sense of the word. You know the drill. It will be fine to quench a craving, but don't expect too much. Inside Ajuua is pretty small and it fills up quickly. Not a great place for a large party.

Never once had a bad experience, and the food is amazingly fresh. Service is always friendly and fast. Expect a line if going to dinner, and especially on Friday & Saturday.

  • Linda M.

What happened to this place? We used to love it, but tonight the food was meh, and the service was horrendous. They were reasonably busy when we first came in, so I was willing to cut the server some slack, but she waited promptly on the table next to us. I guess it helps to be related to one of the employees. Besides not taking our order when she brought drinks, even though our menus were closed and we were ready to order, she never voluntarily refilled our drinks. I also had to ask for more tortillas for the fajitas (which turned out to be a bad choice, cause yes, mushrooms, and I'm pretty sure I ran into a piece of pineapple, which might have been OK without the mushrooms). My drink glass was empty when she brought the tortillas (by which time I was by far the last one still eating) and she still ignored it. I asked for a box, and even at that point, she wouldn't just leave the check. It's like she went out of her way to provide poor service, like she was punishing us for something we did to her in a past life. As a few other people have said, the food isn't so amazing here that you need to go out of your way to come back. I'm not sure if my standards are higher now, or if theirs are lower.

Food is solid, prices are reasonable, and the service is always good. The carne asada and chicken mole are favorites. They treatus well when we eat there, and when we get take out, it's always ready quickly.

  • Stephanie C.

We had dinner here a few weeks ago and it was terrible. The food was so incredibly bland, the service was horrendous and it was expensive for a Mexican restaurant. We will NOT be returning. And SERIOUSLY who puts mushrooms in their normal fajitas? Since I have an allergy, I didn't trust them to omit them from the order, so I went with a shredded beef burrito. There was barely any chile smothering it and it was all bland and tasteless. Not impressed, not one bit!

    (1)
  • Elizabeth B.

Finally gave this place a try and wish we'd just passed. But at least now we know. It's just.."eh". The prices are way, WAY more than we would normally pay for mexican food. We ordered a nacho platter and split it (family of four). I think we ended up spending around $13 bucks for it but it was like the only affordable solution other than just walking out. That might sound like a reasonable price to some people for a plate of chips with toppings, but not to us. And apparently it is because they're still in business. But this is my take on it (hence the personal REVIEW). The staff was nothing to write home about either. In fact they looked like they were there bodily but their minds were on their next text message which they promptly attended to whenever possible. All in all, prices are just too high for what you get - so-so service, so-so food and hole-in-the-wall atmosphere. If you're like me and love finding a gem of a "Mom and Pop" eatery, this is not it. We won't be back.

    (2)
  • Aaron I.

Was pleasantly surprised by this little hole in the wall. It is a bit pricier than The Rock or On The Border, but in my opinion the food is better, more authentic, and the Staff is 10X better. It is worth paying a bit more for great service and that is what they provide. They made a regular out of me and my family, that's for sure!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
