Wow! Saw the other five star reviews of this place and was a sceptic as I walked in. It's set up like a fast food restaurant, where you order at a counter and pick it up when it's ready. Your food is served on disposable plates if your eating there, and disposable takeout dishes for carry out. They bring your food out in about 7 minutes, and provide a wide choice of chiles for your sauce needs. The food itself is where they really shine! A good selection of Mexican food that doesn't taste phony, but like authentic Mexican food should. Please just stop by this place and find out for yourself. Oh and don't forget to try their store made drinks made from fresh fruit. Delicious!

Fair cuisine at best. The tortilla was awesome, homemade and fresh. Sauces were so-so. I got #6 cheese enchilada and beef burrito. Beef burrito was mainly a fajita. Wife got the carne asada fries and the were ok.

El Super Taco was amazing. I got three tacos, and they were huge! And more importantly, delicious. They were so stuffed with yummy fillings that they were double wrapped in tortillas. I really could have only eaten two, but shamefully slammed down all three because they were so, so good. I am pretty sure I tried carne asada, carnitas, and another taco with some kind of pork, and you know what? It doesn't matter which one you get. Try any of them, or all of them. The guac was amazing, each kind of meat was amazing, and the tortillas were perfectly soft and delicious. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is very much fast food style, although not necessarily super fast, but they were admittedly pretty busy when I was there. And really, it wasn't that long a wait for a to-go order. I would definitely eat here again.

YUM. The other reviewers were right, and I'm glad I listened. SO good. Excellent portions and really nice service, too. The tacos and even the vegetarian burrito (huge, I had the other half for lunch today) were authentically Mexican delicioso. The tortillas themselves were so good I ordered one on its own and she gave me honey to put on it. They do have horchata and aguas frescas, including sandia (watermelon), and offered to refill before we left. So glad we stopped!! The inside is larger and cleaner than you'd guess from the outside. Restrooms, too. :-)

Omg, omg, omg!!! 3 OMGs means some of the best food I've ever had PERIOD. Passing through alamosa we thought let's skip usual subway, Taco Bell etc. so we found this place. Everything was fresh. Choices for vegetarians and the serious carnivore. What the hell is this doing in Alamosa? Please open one closer to denver!! The food: enchiladas, tacos, tostadas, nachos - all fresh, tasty, finger licking good. They have a salsa bar with pickled carrots and jalapeños, 3 salsas. All fresh I assume as there is no can opener sold in a small town. Can't wait to pass through Alamosa again!! One last.... OMG!

Three of us stopped in on hiking trip. The price is not $ but $$. I got the Carna Asada plate. It is really good, but not cheap at all. Chips are extra. There is a salsa bar. I tried all the salss's one is good, but extremely mild. The others were not good. One friend got the Taco plate. The tacos are disgusting. The meat is terrible and has something sweat in eat. If you go, I would pass on taco plate. Another friend got some combination dinner, it was average at best. Nothing 5 star about this place.

Been here several times since they've opened and it's quickly become a local favorite! Everything on the menu is great but my favorites are the carne asada fries, the torta de carnitas, and the beef tacos. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. The friendly staff and bright, clean dining area make it an overall great experience! Whether you're looking for a quick lunch or a sit down dinner, you can't go wrong with a trip to El Super Taco.

Mediocre Midwestern Mexican at best. Not inexpensive considering no chips and salsa included. Extremely mild salsas and everything is just bland and heavy. The chile sauce was some sort of sauce -- but not much chile flavor at all. Half my plate went straight into the trash. We were conned by all the five star reviews -- nothing five-star about the place -- except the price.

We drive through Alamosa on our way to Crested Butte, CO from Oklahoma. And now we'll plan a stop around El Super Taco's breakfast burritos. Homemade flour tortillas stuffed with fresh eggs and your choice of meat and potatoes. And the staff was really kind and friendly. Don't miss this southern Colorado treasure!

My first time driving through Alamosa. We stopped here based on the Yelp reviews. The restaurant was clean, bathrooms were clean enough and the food was delightfully dirty. We shared a variety of tacos and a plate of Chili Verde. If we're back home in Santa Barbara or in Santa Fe I would be satisfied with both the price and the food.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
