Absolutely going back, treated very kindly and respectfully by the staff and always had our drinks refilled. Time we went: lunch 12:30-1:30 What we got: One: burrito supreme One: tamale. Both came with beans and rice on the platr and we shared both. The food was delicious, burrito very yummy with lots of good shredded beef and guacamole. The tamale was super fresh and steamy, and homemade for sure. And we got two ice teas. And free chips and salsa. The salsa was fresh and homemade and good quality. The burrito was 7.99(lunch price). And is still really a very good sized burrito. Especially with the extra beans and rice on the plate. I cant remember the tamale price. The total was $20.48, + tip. Which for 2015, is a great deal for lunch, and we got a lot of delicious good food. I dont know why this place is only 3 stars. But its family owned, and very nice. Highly reccomend eating here.

This review is for the service only. I don't have any complaints about the food. Be careful of the manager of this establishment! My wife and I have been coming here for years and we have enjoyed the service from Chendo and the other staff. They have kids eat and drink free on Tuesdays with a paying adult. Normally there's not a problem unless you get the manager as your waiter. He tries to charge your kids drinks and say drinks aren't included. He just tried to charge my wife and our 9yr old daughter when they came for buffet. He asked her age than told my wife its free for 6 or 7 and younger. This guy likes making up his own rules when he sees fit. If you don't want kids to eat free than thats fine. Just don't advertise it than go back on your word. Its only when he's the waiter. I would give him some slack if it was a one time thing but its all the time. Unfortunately we will not be visiting this establishment anymore due to this manager.

I've been here four times. Three times I ordered off the menu, and the last time I got the buffet. The food off the menu was always fine, tasty even. The food off the buffet was a real disappointment, yucky even. I honestly don't know what they are thinking. They'd be better off and get better reviews if they just got rid of it. The service was lousy, too. The waitress didn't come by even once, to check on us or refill drinks, and I walked up to the front door and offered my credit card to an employee, without having been given the check.

After a long day of shopping, we ran into this place and decided to give it a try. After sitting down we were promptly served with two big bowls of chips and many bowls of delicious salsa. After a brief conversation with the waiter, we discovered there was a spicy salsa- a must have! The carnitas were excellent, and the sopas were too. If you get the sopas, make sure to order one of each flavor, it's well worth it. If you ever find yourself in the quaint town of Yucaipa, make sure you stop by this delicious restaurant!

Well.... Went for the Tuesday buffet. It sucked. Bad. Very small selection and the peppers in the fajitas still were raw. Service was even worse. Had to ask for tea twice because he forgot. Had to ask for sour cream twice because he forgot. Think it took about 12 minutes to get sour cream. Stupid. And took forever to get the bill. Think the servers name was rosendo or something like that and he could not handle the tables he had. 2 stars because they have good rice and beans.

Definitely going back. The seafood burrito plate was delicous. It was a little busy, but what can I expect on sham-pag-ny Sunday Brunch lol. Which by the way is $15.99. I decided to opt out and just order a regular plate. They have a live singer on Sundays, but beware it can get loud if you get seated in the middle of the restaurant. Next time I'll sit by the windows. NICOLE was our waitress and she was great. Checked on refills and ask how the food was. Kudos for her.

Food wasn't too bad but what got me is that they allow people to bring their dogs to the outside dinning area . Nothing like trying to enjoy a nice dinner with dogs barking and dog hair floating in the air . Cannot believe they allow this and is unacceptable , I will not be going back again

Place isnt bad but its the only mexican food with full bar in town so no real computation! New location better than old tho

The food was great, the service was excellent, the weather outside was amazing, I'm glad we got to sit outside and enjoy the view... I want to go back for my birthday!!

Never even sat down...went for Sunday buffet expecting a bit of a wait on mother's day but the wait was prolonged because the hostess had to ask three times how many people were in my party. The wait was even longer because they only had one table to accommodate our party size. I got tired of waiting and left, poor organization.

I went to this place tonight and service sucked. The manager- superviser was our waiter. And he had the worst attitude. He just flat out didnt care to service us they way he did the other costumers he didnt come and refill our drinks nor checked on us for anything. And when i was going up to pay he snatched my money out of my hand and i didnt even give it to him yet i wasnt even in line to pay for my food i was talking to someone and he came up and snatch my money. Food sucked. This place looks great smells great but it really wasnt. And i plan to never ever go there again. And sugguest you go to the neighbors american road trip. They seem to have it together. And i work in the food business and i am just in shock on how i was treated.. if i could give this place negitive stars i would. And this was the yuccipa location. Around dinner time.

Updated review for 4/20/13 (lol..4/20) Anyhow total 180 degree turn! Went knowing it might be a little empty since the Apple Blossom Festival in Oak Glen was going on, but didn't expect the service to be lacking & we felt as if we were invisible First red flag should have been when we came, overheard the people behind us complaining they never got a side dish they ordered & left paying their bill quickly. Husband ordered French Fries, but when they came there was no Ketchup & waitress bolted before my we could ask her & the fries got cold by the time we did finally flag someone to get it. Also saw the entire bar emptied quickly & all the employees were talking to each other as they cleaned up, leaving us having to interrupt them asking for the check. We'll probably go back, but might do better if its crowded like that last Friday night when we went. This review solely based on our bar experience (4/12), haven't really dined there yet. Went there last weekend, we sat at the bar area. The service was excellent, I lost count of how many times they checked up on us, it was a nice change from the other crowded bar/restaurants where you get lost in the shuffle. Alone they get my 4-5 stars for having Hangar 24 on Tap!! I wish LA area would get up to speed w/this brand, we love love love love Hangar 24 and so happy to see Redlands, Yucaipa & all other nearby surrounding areas supporting it!! We did have an appetizer, (bean dip, made w/chorizo), it was good!!! Yucaipa, were coming back (hopefully moving back soon before retiring and will be making this one of our local pit stops :)

Love coming here for Sunday brunch! The staff is very friendly & keep the champagne coming! They keep the Buffett tables stocked & very clean!

Not a bad brunch place. They have a great selection of food and it's very delicious! All food tastes like if you had ordered it off the menu. It's my first time here and I love it! They play live music so if you think it's too loud you can always sit outside. The waiters are friendly and keep your glass filled. Overall a great place!

I haven't eaten here in awhile because the food is average and the service really sucks!! But as I was driving by today I noticed the health department rating in the window is a "C". Yuck!!

Been to Las Fuentes many times and it's a average mexican food joint. Not the best that I've had and not the worst. I went to the bar section with a party of 3 on St. Patricks day to get some green beer and have some happy hour specials. We ran into 3 more people that we knew and wanted to sit with but the couldn't accommodate us at the bar so we all sat outside. The waitress was horrible. I think they forgot about us and had no idea what green beer was. Once we got the check we found out that "happy hour" prices didn't apply in the section that we were sitting at. Only at the bar where we 1st started. Very disappointed and will just go to Jose's next time. Good day

This place used to be quite good. Today, at the buffet that cost nearly $40.00 for two people, I discovered that I will never ever go there again. Where does one start? With the service. The service was horrible beyond belief. We have to find a waiter to order drinks. We ordered drinks, but never got refills. We never got the usual bowl of chips they serve. Plates piled up on the table help help the scene. Now, the food was worse than the service, not to mention they never offered champagne to us, but did to others around us. Food. Let's start with the macaroni and cheese. When I tasted it, it tasted like rotten cheese! I kid you not. Either that or bug spray. I nearly lost my cookies right there. Speaking of cookies, there was one plate full of broken cookies, as if someone had placed them in a bag and thrown it around. The meats were not all marked, so you didn't know if it was pork, beef. or chicken and, quite frankly, it all resembled each other. You didn't know if it was pork or beef ribs. The bottoms of the pancakes, waffles, and, believe it or not, bread pudding were all burned to a crisp black. Something that was steak, was very greasy and tasted like they'd dipped it in extra grease. It just kind of slid around the plate like a worm. Let me state it was not a worm or any living creature, though. It just resembled one. Some of the desserts were tasty, but at about $16,00 a person, you expect something beside the desserts to be good. It was all just plain bad. I admit to be fair that I didn't sample everything, because I became sick and had to leave pronto. I am sorry this place has gone this way, but I would not recommend the buffet - no way! I have gone there for the regular menu in the past year and it was a 3 or so. However, it used to be a strong 4 heading to 5. Good luck Las Fuentes!!!! you will note that Jessica S. agreed with me about the buffet. Yucky is a good work Jessica. This is a one without question.

Had the buffet on Tuesday. They scaled back a bit, but still have the barbecue pork ribs and fried chicken wings/drumsticks. Chicken soup was awesome and splendidly seasoned. Chendo was our server and very pleasant and attentive as always. Met the new manager, Jesus, who is in training. Very polite gentleman who is very capable and great at providing support to servers when it's super busy.

LOVE their Sunday brunch!!! Food is always amazing, lots and lots to choose from and unlimited champagne is always a plus haha.. We were surprised at how cheap our bill was when it came. Definitely will be going back!

My wife and I were here for lunch today, for the first time. The first thing we noticed was the volume of the karaoke, which was too loud, with too much bass. We didn't need to shout to communicate with each other, but reading each other's lips helped. The two young ladies singing Mexican songs tried their best, but, oh dear... At least they were not as terrible as the fellow who had a bash after them. He thought the correct key was something for unlocking doors. If a Mexican restaurant _must_ feature cheesy Mexican music, keeping it at an unobtrusive volume would be considerate. The second thing we noticed was that the service was slow. The waitress was pleasant, though, when she occasionally appeared. Thank goodness the food was delicious, and there was plenty of it. We'd eat again at Las Fuentes, as long as there was no rubbishy Mexican karaoke and someone lit a fire under the waitress.

The food is really good. Decent chips and salsa. Really good steak burrito. Good beans. They only get 3 stars though because the service has been horrible all 3 times we've been here. Right now we've just been sitting here 30 minutes after ordering without getting our food. That's pretty weird. Last time we were here we sat outside and 3 different people took our order and none of them got us our drinks. We finally got our food right now and they forgot my daughter's rice, lol. Bottom line. Good food. Bad service.

Sat down in the bar, the bartender took my drink order and we asked for a menu, to which the bartender said that our server will bring us menus. 30 minutes later, no server, no menu, and the bartender gave me serious attitude for asking for the check.

Our waitress was very pleasant... When we saw her. They were very understaffed for a Saturday at lunchtime. By the time we got out margaritas, they were watery and the glass was sweating. The food was average, at best. I will not be coming back.

The very BEST Mexican food in town, along with the tastiest Cadillac Margaritas this side of Beaumont! Their food has always had an authentic Mexican Vibe to it, unlike other places nearby that just fall flat on their food, texture and flavor. Las Fuentes nails it! It's all-good here, but the Huevos Rancheros and Machaca plates are my favorites, and they are served all day!

My family and I have been going to Las Fuentes for over six years. They originally were located down at the junction of Yucaipa Blvd and Oak Glenn Rd. We really enjoyed Las Fuentes up until a couple years ago. Their prices got steep and the food became inferior. The Fajitas were terrible. They moved up the Blvd. into a larger building. Nicer digs, but would the food be the same? We went there the first week they were open. Nothing got better with the move but the decor. Prices higher and the food was bad along with terrible service. We left very unhappy. Flash forward three months. I always like to give a second chance especially if we went close to grand opening. We did go there with trepidation but have to give them a chance. Glad we did. The service was great, Diane, and are drinks were always full, same with salsa and chips. I ordered a combo, wife the asada tacos. The chile Relleno rivals any other in the area and very close to mine. My wife was very happy. Now the food is worth the moderate price. If you have not been lately, check them out.

This place has terrible customer service! They gave us a table next to the stinky bathroom. There was another table available and when we asked if we could sit there the hostess said no because it was for the another party. I told the hostess we had been waiting over an hour and we were there before the other party but she said absolutely not, we can't sit you there. She was extremely rude and short with us. Finally they sat us at the table we had asked for but it was dirty. When I asked the manager if someone could please clean the table he said this table was meant for another party. So they weren't going to clean it because they were upset that we were sitting there? Really? If I could give them 0 stars I would. We left because there is no way this place was going to get my money. I couldn't believe their lack of service, they handled the situation all wrong. Very disappointed.

This place is probably underrated. I've had my fair share of mexican food growing up in Texas, but this place was surprisingly good. And in Yucaipa?! Even more of the shock factor. Best thing about this place: buffet. And bottomless champagne. At least on Sundays. Things to try: their ribs (what? yes. ribs, mexican style), desserts (you can't miss it - sprawled across a separate table), and their cheese enchiladas! Great service, and beautiful outdoor seating on the patio!

    (3)
  • Barbara H.

they are just o.k. I think they are nothing exceptional, JOSE'S is mush better, in portions, cost and ambience. We have a lot of Mexican restaurants in town, and they are all different. but like I said, they are just o.k.

    (2)
  • Gina B.

I LOVE the food here. The chips and salsa are really good. The new location is awesome! The reason I am giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because the last two times we have been there the service has been HORRIBLE!! When we told someone they were sorry but not sorry enough to do something about it. HIRE A NEW STAFF!!

I had dinner here a couple of nights ago and got a bad case of food poisoning. I became very ill within 1hr of eating, the vomiting went on for several hours. I finally went to the ER and they said I had food poisoning, I was given a IV and Meds . I contacted the general manager of this restaurant to warn him. All he said was he was sorry but then went on and on about how clean his restaurants are and that it would have been impossible and wanted to know if I had proof, paper work from a doctor stating it was food poisoning. I wasn't asking for anything from him.I just wanted them to look into the matter so this would not happen to someone else. If this were my business I would want to know this information. After I told him I did have paperwork from the ER he didn't even ask me what my name was, my phone number or ask me to come in to take a report so they could find out what happened, if someone working there was responsible or whatever. From our conversation I don't feel he will be doing anything with this information. Now knowing this I will never go back to any of their restaurants, will not recommend them to anyone and will let them know why.

everything and more that you can ever want in a all you can eat mexican buffett! when i say everything i mean everything from a dude singing to you, to menudo, to chili relleno, to desserts, to pozole, and champange, this place is cheap and amazing

    (5)
  • Rene C.

Went here yesterday for the first time. We were very dissapointed. Horrible service. The food tasted like it was all pre packaged, nothing tasted fresh. The chili relleno I ordered was so little and barely had any cheese in it. My husband got attacked by ants. Just not a good experience. I don't understand why this place is so busy... I would much rather eat at this little place uptown called Bonita's . Way more authentic.

Update... In July 2013 we returned to Las Fuentes because someone we knew went back and said they had improved. So we tried again. The bartender actually remembered us, because she said we wrote on our receipt how horrible our experience was. I do remember making a comment on the receipt, and I was surprised she remembered months later. They staff was more professional, they had improved the fajitas just a bit, and the experience was worth another star or two in the rating. Thank you Las Fuentes for improving. (Original Review dated 4/2/13)Okay I gave them 1 star for good atmosphere (not too noisy, good crowd), and another star for decent beans, rice, and chips and salsa. But they lost a star for staffs lack of experience and professionalism. Lost another star for ruining fajitas. How can you ruin fajitas?!? No flavor. Absolutely no flavor at all! And lost another star for the confusion in leadership/management. We couldn't tell who was serving, or bar tending, or bussing. Customer service was law. Immaturity was high.

Not nice to this mommy on mothers day! Walked out very irritated but went down the street to Jose's Mexican restaurant and was seated right away and no wait to eat as Mothers Day brunch buffet was ready to eat! I've been here 3 times and I must admit the first two were good experiences but can't recover from this mothers day screw up. I walk in and the manager was rude when I asked how long the wait was (I had a hungry two yr old) then he ignored me when I asked to put my name on the list TWICE. No bueno Las Fuentes ill take my biz to Jose's was the best brunch ever and cheaper too

We decided to cheat on our strict diets and throw caution to the wind and went out for date nite. The chimichanga was not crisp, the stuffing was cold. For some reason the fish tacos had chopped fish pieces. We should have stayed on our diets. A taco plate and a cold burrito with two beers-$43 Booooo!!!!

BEST MARGARITAS IN THE CITY!!! Food is amazing!! Their new location has a breath taking view of the mountains.. And the staff is always so sweet and attentive! Prices are fantastic.. Just an overall great experience every time I dine here. Highly recommend this place!!

Outstanding service, along with D'lish food. Ask for their non-standard salsa it is the BEST! It's got a smokey flavor with a bit more heat. It's sooooo good that we get some to take home. We live in San Diego so anytime that we're in the area we make it a point to stop for a meal.

Overall good, great Sunday brunch, normal food is good but not great, they seem to have cheapened up on things like shrimp inside fajitas ( very small)

I had the Chile Verde. No heat what-so-ever! Wife had Enchiladas and Taco. Again, both very bland. But the serving size was good. Just bland.

We went on a Saturday afternoon in a group. We were seated, no problem. I did not like the idea that the employees were able to sit in a group, converse, hang out and eat at tables where patrons are eating. The chips were stale. The salsa is spicy, that is a plus, however, the food is just average. I understand that is is its new location. Like the location. The food is ok.

Quality has decreased a lot over the years, but they still have great margaritas and the best carnitas I have ever had. Fajitas are really good too.

3.5 stars. This place has pretty good food, but is too expensive for what it is. Mexican food is among the cheapest food to make and I think they are about 25 percent too expensive and the service is a bit slow. I don't mind paying high prices for places that are worth it but this isn't one of them

My husband and I went on a Friday at 5. It's always busy when we drive by so we were curious to try a new place out. The food was good. We went at the perfect time we didn't have to wait more than minutes for a table once the host saw us. There was a couple guys playing really cool music on their guitars. Service was good, but I didn't like the feeling of being rushed. They seem to not be generally friendly. The check came quicker than any other restuarant I have ever been to. We were there only an hour.

We liked this place and went many times in the past but won't go back. We were playing golf in the area with another couple so we suggested this place for brunch so I called and made reservations. We get to the restaurant to find it closed with a sign saying they moved, OK, you could have mentioned that the day before when I made the reservation! We arrive at the new location and are told the isn't a brunch this week? WTF??? I asked the manager why I wasn't told of the move and no brunch when I called and made brunch reservation and just received a stupid look. We had lunch there as we had a tee time and on a schedule, no breakfast which just lunch was $96 with one maggie each. The management made no gesture for our meal or tab, piss poor service, won't be back

Flavorless food and unprofessional staff. I always get nervous when waiters don't write things down, and he screwed up our order three different ways. We're not coming back.

  • Susan J.

The food is ok, nothing special. The service can use some improvement. The staff would just walk by your table seeing that your drinks need to be refilled and never offering to refill them. They are very stingy with their chips and salsa. When you ask for more salsa, they give you a dirty look and act as though they do not want to just hand it out. The salsa is in such a tiny dish where the chip cannot even fit in there. Management needs to learn from Jose's in proper customer service and not be so stingy with refills.

    (2)

All around pretty good food like their salsa and my kids love there food not the most authentic Mexican food I have had but solid choice. Have been there 20 times at least. Good service can get busy though.

  • Debbie H.

My husband and I went there on Cinco de Mayo. What a huge disappointment! First off, there is only one restroom per sex at the place, so you have to stand in line to use them. We ordered some drinks and it took them 25 minutes to get them to us. The chips were cold and stale. We asked if they had come from a bag and the waitress told us they were freshly made. I don't think so. We were never offered any refills on the chips or our drinks. The food is not that good. I knew we should have gone somewhere else, I should have listened to my inner voice. Will I ever go back there? I seriously doubt it, if I am paying for good food and good service, this is not the place to go.

Yes it is good. Normally I'm not impressed by Cali-Mexican food having lived in Texas for awhile and experiencing the joy of New Mexico cuisine. I'm impressed by Las Fuentes. Las Fuentes is one of the best Cali-Mexican restaurants I've found. La Fuentes is clean, the service staff professional and the food delicious!

We stopped in for dinner on a weeknight and overall were very happy with our experience, even though there is room for improvement here and there. First of all, the space is nice, new and clean. The hostess, manager, and servers are all extremely nice and friendly, and we instantly felt happy to be there-bring on the margaritas and we'll be even happier! I didn't indulge as I was the designated driver, but those that did said the drinks were v. good. I would recommend being a little adventurous with the menu-because I think their chef genuinely has some skill and shines more on those special dishes than the standard burritos, enchiladas, etc. Our table had the grilled whole tilapia, which I was told was delicious, and I tried menudo for the first time. The broth it was in was absolutely delicious and it felt so comforting and nourishing. Portions are huge. My only reservation was that the plates could have been cleared a little more promptly-perhaps there was the perception that we were still grazing, but we really would have liked to sit there for a moment with a clear table. But, considering the warm reception we got this was minor, and we left still feeling very happy.

If your looking for an environment that feels like home with fresh food, this is the place to be. They have an amazing whole fish that we can usually only find on the islands. Their tacos are fresh and fajitas include fresh grilled veggies. The rice wasn't greasy and the service was great :). You should come check this place out :)

My favorite restaurant in Yucaipa. Granted its Yucaipa and there isnt much going on in this town, but it's still the best. We eat here about once or twice a month and are never disappointed. Food is great, drinks are even better. Service is always good. Very comfortable environment. During warm months, do yourself a favor and ask for a table outside.

Decent is the best word to describe this place. I haven't been to the new location, but the parking lot always looks busy. Service is always slow. It is a little on the expensive side also.

    (3)
  • Laura C.

Stopped going here because the service was so slow at the last location. Was impressed with first couple of visits at the new location and like the environment. Now have had three slow service visits in a row. Not a great situation with kids in tow. I like the patio. Food is fine. They just seem to constantly under staff which results in a long wait for everything from menus to the check.

I have been going to Las Fuentes for many years and the service is always not up to par. Asked for a to go drink three times and never got it. The booth table are to short hit my leg on it and had a massive bruise for 10 days. Their salsa is very good so next time I will take my food to go and not have to deal with the service or the table injuries.

Food is always wonderful! This was our first time at the new restaurant. Decor is very nice but customer service wasn't as good as it coulda been. I think we got seated at an empty service area maybe because the waitress serving the next areas seemed to be awesome and once I mentioned we had not gotten any service yet, she was more than helpful.

We used to go here a lot but we started noticing their food was not consistent. Portion or flavor we always order seafood burritos and the either have no seafood or too much rice or always falls apart... Sometimes very flavor full and one time overloaded with salt my fiancé had shrimp al mojo it literally looked as if they poured garlic over 5 shrimp drenched in olive oil not like i remember al mojo being... Servers are just ridiculous.. One is way to cocky he doesn't ever refill drinks and Does not remember what u order.. Another waitress she always has attitude the manager is great cant remember his name he runs sunday brunch! Which takes me to sunday brunch its delicious love love Carmen really good waitress.. So with that being said hope that in their new restaurant the become more consistent with their food! Taste and quantity... I know its quality not taste but if I'm hungry i want to be satisfied in both taste and quality... Deff have not been worth the 12$... So look forward to going to the new place!

Great service. Only room for 5 at the actual bar and chairs are low compared to height of bar.

The food was ok the service was bad considering the time of day. Early Saturday afternoon with very few customers you would think you would get good service. Chips arrived well after the drinks; the drinks even took a while to get, much more time than usual. When we finally got our chips we did get a large amount and a lot of salsa for them. The food came and was not bad, with large portions. In closing the service has a lot to be desired and the food is just ok.

I really love the tortilla soup here but it's a bit expensive compared to other places. The margaritas are REALLY pricey which you don't realize until the check comes. This was our "usual" Mexican restaurant in Yucaipa until we discovered another that we like better.

Chips were great. Salsa was ehhh unless you ask for the "special" salsa. Food was bland and generic. Would have been more satisfied at Taco bell. Wack.

Every time we've eaten here, we have not been disappointed. They have excellent food and great service. I have tried the taquitos, the chicken enchilada w/ cream sauce, the machaca breakfast and the shrimp tacos. We've also tried the Sunday brunch. When we're craving a sit down Mexican meal, this is where we head to.

The food is mediocre at best, but the prices are great. I would only give 2 stars, but the outdoor patio is pleasant and the view of the hills is beautiful. Beware of eating in the farthest patio, you get the best view, but they often forget about you.

I have no idea who these people are who wrote these reviews but wow, way off. I ordered the cheese tamale, with beans and rice, absolutely disgusting. There was more masa then cheese, the sauce was gross and the beans and rice tasted store bought there was nothing authentic about this place at all. Do yourself a favor and head over to Bonitas instead.

Food was ok. Ordered the fajita trio for two which the waiter got wrong. Service was slow even though there was hardly anyone there.

Our go-to place for Mexican. Huge portions of great food. The chips and salsa are addictive, but don't fill up on them. You entrees will be filling enough. The sauce they serve with the Carnitas Uruapan is like liquid crack...so good! Happy Hour gets you half-price margaritas as well. Great place with great service.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
