3.5 stars! ok, so you REALLY have to respect this place for having a huge variety of vietnamese goodies available to you. whether you want noodle soups from the north, east, west or south. thanh my always has a great variety of dishes to offer. they are not of the greatest quality, but it's a place where a person can try a bunch of different dishes in one place! also a huge plus is that they are open 24 hrs. their menu at night is a little more limited than the day time, but the night time menu still offers a plethora of rice and noodle goodness. their pho is pretty good (but a little overpriced for most pho places) their bun bo hue (spicy lemongrass beef noodle soup) is sub par. there are definitely better places for this. their bun reiu is pretty amazing (its a crab, tomato, and tofu noodle soup) and their chao (rice porridge) can really hit the spot when you're sick. I really like this place because of all it has to offer, and it's amazing hours. theres nothing like a hot bowl of steamy pho to satisfy a long night of drinking. i've been going here for a really long time, and i keep coming back, so they must be doing something right!

Arguably the best Vietnamese restaurant in the whole wide world! OK, OK, so I was exaggerating - sorry, got carried away from all the articles I see about this place. But actually, this place is not bad at all. Good food, fast service, great prices, and they're open late! What more could a drunk ask for? I kid. Even if you're sober, you'll love this place. The food really is good. Might be a little over hyped, but still good nonetheless. And keep in mind, this place is beyond just pho - pretty much everything I ordered here have been quite satisfying. In fact, I rarely order pho here. Their Com Bo Luc Lac (fried diced beef with rice) is pretty good, as well as their spring rolls (although not Brodard-good). The rice thing in the pot is alright too. Then there's my favorite Than My dish - clams in oyster sauce. Mm mm mmm! I gotta tell you, it's pretty damn good. But order it with something else, like a fried rice dish or something. The service is pretty alright too, like I said realier - fast. But the place isn't that big so they get packed quick during peak dinner hours and especially on the weekends, around 2-3AM. Oh and I believe they take phone orders, so if you feel like some late night grubbin at home, just phone your order in and by the time you get there, your food should be ready.* *Disclaimer: unless you're two freakin minutes away. But hey, you never know.

I believe this to be the best Vietnamese restaurant I have eaten at. The flavors explode on the palate. I have been eating here for almost two decades and have never had a bad meal. When I visit LA from San Francisco, thisis where I go. The family meals are exceptional and all of the appetizers are great. This is where it's at. Go now, Eat here!

Years ago, there used to be a line outside this restaurant every night at dinner time. Not anymore! Found out why. Food is ordinary, below average. Ordered the seafood family dinner for 4. The clams and fish were not fresh. Everything else was bland. Sad.

Accidentally ate here. Our intention was to go to Pho Thah.. What a lucky mistake because we came across this wonderful place... What a GEM...Greeted kindly and immediately seated...In fact we were given our choice of tables....Great flavorful broth, generous plate of green's, clean, courteous, friendly, ACCEPTS CARD!!! Lots of Parking.... REFILLED OUR WATER DILLIGENTLY- this was a pleasant surprise..... DEFINITELY worth the treck from Irvine and will definitely return. This place is a must try....Happy we stumbled upon it..

This is a good choice in Little Saigon. I like the Bun-vermicelli items, egg noodle soups, and imperial egg rolls. There are a lot of choices on the menu from pho to chow mein to rice dishes. Whether you are a newbie or a veteran of Vietnamese cuisine, you will find something to suit your taste buds. We have been going here for many years and this place always have patrons, a very good sign. All I can say is follow the crowd.

This place is busy. On that note, they have quick to go service. Hankering simply for the ca kho to, I looked up on yelp.com and found hoped fellow yelper Kat N. was right about this place. I ordered the dinner for 2 option that included the choice of ca kho to aka caramelized catfish in claypot, canh chua aka sweet and sour soup and bo xa lach aka beef salad. The ca kho to and canh chua was not as good as I thought it'd be. The portions were decent, however, and could easily fill 2 people. Total price came out to about $18--not bad. The canh chua was not too sweet, but I have tasted better (namely spoiled from Phnom Penh Restaurant in Los Angeles' canh chua, which included mushroom, okra, more seasoning, scallops, etc.) The chef at Thanh My overloaded the soup with bean sprouts and celery that it kind of ruined the taste.

Haven't tried too many things here. The pho was excellent, diced beef with fried rice is to DIE for. the 25 min drive is worth it for the diced beef. Vermicelli was good. BOMB egg rolls. This place always hits the spot for me. Minus one star for dirtiness... Yuck.

  • Leeviticus C.

i love this place. the food is good, very authentic, and the same staff has been working here for years. they're all very nice. don't go because you're dying to try a specific vietnamese dish that someone wrote about; go just because you just feel like having good vietnamese food. the menu is very extensive, so you have a lot to choose from anyway.

So I decided to take a Vietnamese friend here. I think it's tasty. He thought it was marginal. I had the Pho Tai and Imperial Spring Rolls. These are always tasty. But I do recommend trying the chicken wings here. Amazing. And the broken rice plates are good too.

    (2)
  • Nancy H.

most known for their broken rice plates. my girlfriends got it and it was pretty damn tasty. i tried their ban hoi (number 112) on the menu and it was bomb! i would totally go back if i was in the area. prices are so reasonable.

the menu is a bound book. i'm not kidding. which makes it really stressful to have 10 waiters come up to you w/in 2 minutes of sitting down asking if ur ready. but i'd rather have hurried service than turtle slow service. with the menu as it is, you can guess, it's not just a pho place. or a nem nuong place. it's got a little bit of everything. i guess that's why people take me here? i've been taken here for dinner by multiple people who all don't know each other. so i assumed this is *the* spot in little saigon. i really love the lemongrass beef with rice paper. the other stuff i've had (rare beef salad, beef stew) are okay. and the red bean coconut milk dessert totally hit the red bean spot (i have a red bean spot that needs constant attention)! it's the soupy kind and not the one mixed w/ sweet rice. the last time i went, one of the old dude waiters concentrated really hard and wished my friend a wonderful weekend in broken english. so cute! :) and who said the service sucked???

  • Trissia W.

7 courses of beef! of course the menu is like a giant book so it would have taken us much too long to decide anyways. But we were being adventurous and tried this, awesome! the only thing that was difficult was trying to communicate since we don't speak Vietnamese, but I felt like our server was really trying and we had a great time. Need to go back and check out the other food. Very affordable looking prices.

This place has been my default vietnamese restaurant for 10 years, since my freshman year at UCI. Thanh My has a very large menu, mostly inexpensive, and they're open til 3 or 4 am. I've always experienced very decent service there although they do get very busy sometimes (usually after midnight). I've had the bun (noodle salad), pho tai (the beef noodle soup), and one of my favorites, the grilled beef with crushed peanuts and chopped scallions (i think it's number 17 or something..), which you're given lettuce and rice paper along with different herbs and pickles to wrap you beef with. I don't think they're the best joint around little saigon, but it usually hits the spot for me... like i said, my default vietnamese restaurant.

I'm sure that many of the other Vietnamese restaurants in Westminster are as good, or better, I just haven't found them. Portions are reasonable and the flavors pop just as they should. It's also a sentimental favorite, my son introduced me to this place. You either love the waiters or hate them - I love them. The first visit I tried to order the bun cha and the waiter tried to dissuade me, "you no like". Ah, but I do - especially here.

If Yelp catches on in SoCal like how it has in the Bay Area, Thanh My will definitely rack up tons of positive reviews. Thanh My out does any of the Vietnamese restaurants that I've been to in the Bay Area from San Francisco to San Jose. I'm sure there has to be a comparable restaurants in San Jose but until I find one, this spot is my favorite. A few nights ago, I ordered the 3 person combo dinner which comes with 4 items. My gf and I selected the Pinapple soup, Fried Tilapia, Rare beef with mint leaves, and sauteed beef with vegatables. There are other alternative items that could be selected with this combo dinner but definitely do try the rare beef with mint leaves. This dish is awesome! The rare beef is slightly cooked then covered with fresh onions, mint leaves, cilantro, chopped peanuts, and flavored with a sweet fish sauce balanced with just the right amount of lime juice. Westminster is a the city to come to for Vietnamese food and Thanh My is the restaurant to stop at once you have arrived.

Awesome place to get some authentic inexpensive vietnamese cuisine. RUDE old fobby waiters makes it feel even more authentic. They got some vietnamese jams going on while you eat as well. They sit you down in a hurry and take your orders incredibly quick. The food comes out FAST. I ordered the com bo luc lac (rice with marinated steak cut into cubes). Awesome stuff. Portions are right and flavor is great, although I believe the best place for bo luc lac is Cloud9. Pretty good selection of all your favorite vietnamese dishes and for the right price too. Bonus points for being open late as well. But for all your drunk after clubbing food cravings I would suggest Pho Thanh next door.

this place is the place to be after a night out....it opens late and the food is okay....but hey! when uve had a couple drinks in your system....

  • Dee N.

Good place to go when you're drunk and its late at night. If other places were open, i wouldn't be here around midnight. I come here because they have ALOT ALOT ALOT variety of vietnamese food!!! The service here suxors, but its okay. Kind of expected from vietnamese restaurant. Lol. and their food is decent. I'm lazy to go into detail because i did order alot of food from them. And yes, I'm the one who think its not all that great, but yet i keep coming back xD So i give them a 4 star

Went here for lunch on my drive from San Diego back to San Jose. It was pretty crowded during lunch, and took a little while to get seats. I got the rice plate with pork chop and a fried egg. Standard meal for me in any Vietnamese restaurant. And it tasted exactly how I figured it would: just like everywhere else in San Jose. All in all, your standard Vietnamese restaurant (at least in San Jose). Good food, would go again (if I'm ever around there)!

I ate at Thanh My for dinner tonight with my parents. I've been here several times before, with my dad mostly (I think it's his absolute favorite restaurant). My mom wanted to go here for the Bun Bo Hue (Hue-style Beef Noodle Soup), which she had been craving since yesterday. My dad ordered the Com Bo Luc Lac (Rice with Diced Filet Mignon) and I got the Com Chien Duong Chau (Yangzhou Fried Rice). My parents drank hot tea while I enjoyed the Che Ba Mau (Tri-Color Dessert Drink). The fried rice - which contained Vietnamese sausage, shrimp, scrambled egg, and round green bean pods - was delicious, although afterward I felt slightly guitly for not choosing a healthier dish. I hear this restaurant has been around for 30 years, which is simply amazing. It's a very warm, inviting place, and, aside from the three of us, I observed both the older and younger generations eating there. Thanh My is definitely worth a try if you have not been there before.

This is probably a disgrace to be called a Vietnamese. For all the people that got screwed over at this place can I get a "DU MA" YEAH!!! Lets see we got seated promptly right when we walked in the door. After that it went down hill from there with the service. After about 10 min or so they finally took our order. I ordered the Bo Kho or however you spell it. My food came out nasty Bo Kho is usually like a read soup mine was a brownish mixed with crap Meat was not tender at all Bread was not toasted like how they usually do it. I would never step foot into this place again.

I DIDN'T know the owner of this restaurant and my dad were best friends from back in the day. So we got free steak dinners and maybe 4 bottles of heineken each. Boy was i drunk when i left the restaurant. This place is a must try if you're in the Little Saigon area!

good for late night, various choices, all the food i had tasted descent. As someone commented, it's like hodori for viet food in westminster. Variety of food...everything taste pretty descent.

  • Patty L.

Yay! I'm a fan. Thats what four stars mean. I was feeling pho tonight and decided on this place because 1) open late 2) all you yelpers! This place was packed when we got there around 10 and we had a wait a little but it wasn't too bad. I ordered my usual, pho with tripe and meatballs and the boyfriend ordered the beef steak with rice and soup. Boy was everything delicious. I don't mind the drive if the food is good and this place def. hits the spot. Service isn't great but I don't expect much from most late night viet places. On our way there from Irvine we passed alot of pho places but most of them were dead so Thanh My must be doing something right!

  • Michelle R.

I don't know if all of you giving this place 5 stars have a palate for Vietnamese food. This is the last place on the Bolsa strip I would go to only because it's open so late. It's really not that great, don't be fooled by the crowd at night. They probably just got out of a club and this is the only place that's open. During the daytime, nobody's really here because the food is not up to par. I have a general rule. If a Vietnamese restaurant isn't known for one dish but generally has everything, it's not a good place to eat at.

    (1)
  • Jenn N.

This was recommended to me by a friend. It's pretty good Vietnamese food, although all I've had is their broken rice dishes. Very tasty and they give you small bowl of fish sauce to put on it. The meal also came with a small bowl of this delicious soup. Prices are good and the parking lot was actually pretty decently sized compared to other parking lots for Asian shops.

Another Late night eatery. after a night of getting phaded this place offered everything and anything you can think of..(typical Vietnamese food that is).. but like Most Vietnamese Joint.. the service is not it;s best quality.. but hey.. everything is alright when you're drunk... i usually dont go there unless i am under the influenced

Great Food. Opens late. perfect for a night after the club or just driving around westminster. we went to 6 flags the other day and drove all the way to westminster just to eat at Than My. Like my friend ervin said, "my tummy hasnt been this satisfied in my entire life". well coz the mexican food at 6 flags called eduardo grill was just horrible. we were glad we ate at than my for dinner.

Even though I really like this place's food, the service, like most Vietnamese restaurants, is pitiful. Everyone is very rude and treat you as a customer as more of a bother than anything. But the food is good and they open to like 1 am, so that's why I keep coming back. I gave this place three stars FOR THE FOOD ALONE. If I were to rate the servers, this place would get a one. The greatness about the food is freshness. I love the Com Tam at this place. But surprisingly, everything is tasty and authentic. My only problems lay in the service. The moment to sit down, they ask if you are ready to order, if you say no, an hour later the server will come back for your order. The food comes relatively quickly. But you'll never a get drink refill unless you flag someone down. No one asks you if everything was to your liking. Once they take your order, they make the less amount of eye contact with you as possible, making it so that they don't see you wanting something else. I love their food, but if I could change everyone except the cooks into someone more polite, more attentive, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Great place for late night Chinese-Vietnamese food! Place was still hopping after 11 p.m. We got the 2 person combo that was enough for 3 extremely hungry people. The food came out super fast. It was also super tasty and cheap! (We all paid less than 8 bucks) The imperial rolls were huge and more like an entree given the quanity. Staff was super friendly and helpful with recommendations.

Famous for open late so cluber can come in to fill their stomach. Food quality are among the worst in Little Saigon area. All dishes are a mix between Chinese and Vietnamese.

I love this place. Where else can I go to reunite with Mama and Papa Nguyen after being separated at Shark Club on Friday New Wave nights? After heavy drinking or actual realization that the "cute guy" that you made out with actually looks like an extra from "Freaks n' Geeks" and also 20 yrs older, come here, order a bowl of Chao Ga (Chicken porridge) eat it up while contemplate how you're going to erase your own as well as your friends' memories of said incident. If you're as uncreative and dumb as I am, at least you can still bask in the comfort that it was damn good chicken porridge.

They have an extensive menu, but the food I tried was just average. I bought some bbq pork rice plates home for my parents and they said it was okay.

Based on some chick's review on this site, we went here for the 4-course Family Rice Combo which supposedly costs ~$15. However, upon looking at the menu, we realized that a THREE-course combo was $18! This was much more expensive than the 3-course meal at Cali Restaurant ($12.50), but we figured...maybe the food is really good. The sour soup "canh chua" didn't even have the "bac ha" veggie (A STANDARD FOR THIS SOUP). I felted cheated...but the biggest surprise that night was finding out they charged $2 extra for rice?!?! I thought rice was included in family meals? In retrospect, I feel like the food quality, though high, did not justify us paying that much. If you want to eat quality food at a cheaper price, try Cali Restaurant at Brookhurst and McFadden. They are somewhat modeled after Thanh My in terms of food selection and ambiance but they are much cheaper.

this place is sooo good, i had hair in my food! yum! lol customer service sucks too. Waited 20 minutes too to get the damn food...

This restaurant has been establised for a long time (20+yrs). It's known for good food, good price. If you have a party of four or more, try their family menu (cam phan gia dinh). Very easy to find. Right in the heart of the Little Saigon. Open late at night.

Yes, I will be monotonously repetitive: BEST EGG ROLLS. period. Served on a platter of beautiful, crisp greens, a pitcher of sauce on the table... doesn't get better. And I am part vietnamese and never imbibe, so not guilt of "drunk as fawk".

After a LONG drive from SF, we were tired and HUNGRY! Good thing I did my Yelp homework before leaving for our trip and found out that Thanh My is only 5 minutes away from our hotel! I was so excited to eat here especially after reading all the great reviews. This place definitely did not disappoint. As soon as we walked in we were quickly directed to a table by the window. Almost everyone eating there were speaking Vietnamese. Their menu consisted of the usual Pho items as well as other dishes I never even heard of from eating at the Pho places in SF. Hubby was hesitant to try something new, so he stuck with the rare beef pho. I got the fresh shrimp rolls and their special shrimp dumpling noodle soup. Their shrimp rolls were so fresh and yummy! They put chives and chicken pieces in the shrimp roll. My shrimp dumpling noodle soup was totally bombing! The noodle soup had tons of shrimp dumpling and sprinkles of fried onions! I was a happy camper at the end of this wonderful meal. This was definitely the best pho I've ever had!

one of my favs. i've never had the pho here. i consider this to be a vietnamese grill. i go elsewhere for pho. but their beef dishes are just amazing.

This is the perfect place to go when you have a group of people that want to eat different kinds of Vietnamese food. There's a little bit of everything so they don't specialize in anything making everything average. But it is ok because they are open late so that ranks them higher.

This was the first place I ever had Vietnamese food, way back in the late 80's and early 90's when Little Saigon was less than half the size of what it is now. It also seemed to be the busiest Vietnamese restaurant way back. As mentioned by other reviewers, it opens late into am hours. This used to be the only Asian place in OC that was open late beyond 1 am unless you wanted to make the long drive to LA. I would go here when up late. I have to agree with most reviewers, it's good pho. One word of caution, their soup is very fatty, lots of tendons, tripe and fatty cuts and you can add pounds to your waist easily. This fatty broth seems just right for late night consumption, it's comforting and lulls you to sleep easily but fattens your mid section. Oh well, life's tough. Another word of caution, their stir fry plates that resemble chinese food in name and description are terrible. Only the pho, bun, eggrolls are good. The noodles are always soft and tender, eggrolls are fried fresh and crispy, the bun has a good amount grilled meats. I can taste much chinese influence in the pho in contrast to Pho 54 and Pho Bolsa, Thanh Leich, etc. which have lighter soup broth. I think the real Vietnamese diners would probably prefer these others judging by the crowd composition in them.

I only come here in the wee hours of the morning after a night of enjoying adult beverages. I think I like this place over Pho Thanh Long across the street because there are less drunk people, service is better, food is better, and it's not super loud. The variety is good for late night eaters. You can get noodles, noodle soup, or even rice. I'm not saying this is the best tasting Vietnamese restaurant, but for the hours they are open, it's pretty good. I like their bo luc lac and fried rice. Beef is tender and not chewy. Their Pho is flavorful as well, unlike Pho Thanh Long's. Owner/workers are nice here which is rare for Vietnamese restaurants!

  • Thyda S.

My favorite restaurant on this block... and there's about 100 of them. The menu... its huuuuuuge! (That's what she said! LOL) Ahhh... so many choices! The only thing that I don't like about this place is that there is just SO much to choose from! Being the indecisive person that I am, it is always a difficult task to choose just ONE item. So what do I usually end up doing? I end up ordering more than one item! Definitely not a good thing for my wallet or my nearly nonexistent waistline, but it sure does my mouth and my tummy good! Thank goodness for the dinner combos that they have. Less than $20 for three dishes (to share, of course... haha), you can't beat that! AND... its all pretty tasty! I wish I was closer to take advantage of the $3.99 lunch deals. How can you beat that?

No matter how much I try to think of something original to say, the words of previous reviewers rings true. This is the vietnamese dennys. Food is not the best, but when you have cravings, it'll do. Do not come in with the expectation that the food here is going to blow you away; it won't. We ordered the spring roll appetizer plate, the bo tai chanh, and the combination hot pot (lau). The spring rolls tasted as expected, which is a good thing. The bo tai chanh (suppose to be beef carpaccio in lime juice) looked like the meat was already cooked. Hot pot was okay, msg flavor did come out though. Overall, with all the other choices you have in Little Saigon, this place is not a destination, but rather a place you stumble into when you're really hungry.

It was raining that day and you know what I was thinking....... eating some pho. My friend showed me this place and it's a good thing he did. Located in Little Saigon area near Baskin Robbins and across the street from Wells Fargo Bank. It looks like any other Vietnamese restaurant but don't get this place confused. There's another restaurant a meters to the east and it's called Thanh Restaurant. My friend ordered rare steak pho while I ordered the same thing but with more noodles yelp.com/biz_photos/UgR2… . I wish I can super size it to a massive bowl of pho. That would be sweet. His girlfriend and my wife ordered the roasted chicken combo with side orders of veggies and rice. Plus we ordered a side of egg rolls yelp.com/biz_photos/UgR2… . Everything tasted great. Just as I would expect from a family owned restaurant. The place is kept clean and service was quick. I love the fact they open late, Monday- Fridays till 130AM, Saturday and Sundays they open till 230AM. Yeesssss, they accept atm/credit cards too. Now I know where to go for some late night pho.

Came here with my cousin and her family for dinner. She chose the restaurant. I'd never been here before and so was excited to try it. Most of the people in our party ordered pho.... I have my fave places where I eat pho so I really didn't want to eat pho at a place not really known for pho. I ordered the bun with grilled shrimp, grilled pork and egg roll. The young man got bo luc lac (surprise surprise). I tasted the broth from the pho and it wasn't too bad. My bun wasn't bad -- wasn't the best I'd every had, but definitely not the worst. The egg roll was very greasy, but the shrimp and pork was flavorful. I wish they had put more greens in there -- I added bean sprouts and basil from the plates for the pho into my bun. It helped. Bo luc lac was pretty tasty as well, although it was on the saucy side. Generally, I prefer the really seared and dry versions better. The young man ate his entire plate, rice and all. Service was pretty good for a Vietnamese place. The man who took our order (might have been the owner) was very chatty and came over to talk to us on several occasions throughout our meal. We also ended up sitting there for a long time to chat and they never once made us feel unwelcomed, nor did they rush us to leave. Food is a solid 3 star, but service won them an added star.

Some items are great, but may be pricer than other Vietnamese restaurants. -Prawns and Rice (My Mom's Fav, but it's about $13* or something for 1 prawn! ) It does come in a really great tasting sauce though, i'll admit. -Bo Luc Lac was pretty good here! Noticed most table around us all ordered this. -The Fried Chicken wings are okay. Not worth it's price. *Also, there's this one Lady that I noticed works there from time-to-time. If you get her, you'll know what I mean. I just didn't like how she got too opininated. First off, let me order what I want to eat, don't question how many dishes i'm ordering, and don't tell me how I should eat my food. I mean, common, right? Oh and don't try to talk down your competitors just to make yourself look better. Distasteful. I guess if you have kids and are tired of disaplining them, I suppose she has no problems doing the job for you. lol Seen it in action too! Idk, just my 2 cents anyways.

Well of course I'm a regular here. It's good authentic Vietnamese food that opens late. I think theres about 1000 and 1 different dishes for you to choose there. Ok, so im exaggerating a bit. Its about 500 dishes. Talk about variety hahaa I wish someday their chef can teach me how to cook! There are many yummy dish there that I can recommend but I come here for the SAME thing every single time! Ca Kho (catfish) with dua chua (pickled veggie) and rice. Oh em gee it's so good!! Squeeze some lemon on my dua chua to make it extra sour and ahhhhhh crap I'm hungry now :-( Lunch for two is under $20 bucks! Nice service.. I like them. Maybe cuz they're nice to me.. And maybe cuz I'm a regular hahha

Pho ap chao chien dion (crunchy fried rice noodle with vegetable and meat gravy)-a little bland but not bad. It was better another time I was here. Ngheu xao la que(clams in a basil gravy)-ok but I've had better Canh Chua ca (sour soup with catfish)-I really wanted some bac ha (taro stem) Ca kho to (clay pot caramelized cat fish)-I've had better Bo tai chanh (beef salad)-not bad, but not bomb 4 desserts Bill came out to $70 something I've gotta say that I make the catfish dishes at home so I'm not easily impressed by these dishes at restaurants. I brown my catfish before I caramelize it, but I think the catfish here was a little lack luster in texture. The fat under the skin was a lil too gelatinous for my taste. I used to come here after clubbing when I was younger but I'm wondering if ownership changed at some point. The menu is longer than I remember so you'll defiinitely have options.

on our last day in California, we decided to come here for lunch before heading off to the airport. We ordered the Vietnamese Eggrolls, Banh Xeo and some type of grilled pork rice vermicelli dish. The grilled pork was a bit dry, but I was more for the Banh Xeo, which was pretty authentic. Generally, the food is good. The service is quick, and the price is reasonable. The restaurant itself in my opinion isn't exactly in the cleanliness department, especially if you are on your way to their restroom, but then again, it's an Asian restaurant. Can't always expect a whole lot...so, if there's nothing moving in my food, I'm okay.

I can't say I didn't like this place, but I can't say I did either...maybe we just ordered the wrong food. I was really happy to know that there was a Vietnamese restaurant opened late and even at 10pm, it was really busy. There was sooo much to choose from that in the end, I just left my boyfriend and his brother choose what to order because they're Vietnamese. We ordered the family combo that came with steak salad, sweet and sour catfish soup, braised catfish, fried fish, and a stir fry. Our waiter was nice and the food came pretty quick, but it was just A-Ok. On the family combo menu, we choose bo tai chanh, which is suppose to be rare steak salad, but the one we got was cooked and warm... not quite what we wanted, but it was still my favorite. I loved the sauce it came with and all the mint leaves and cilantro. The catfish sweet and sour soup is usually one of my favorites, but I did not liked it here. It was wayyyy too sweet. Probably too much pineapple and its syrup. The catfish by itself was really good though, too bad the boys dumped most of it in the plate of fish sauce and jalapenos... too salty! The braised catfish was alright, you would get sick of the sauce easily though. The fried fish was tasteless by itself, and with the watered down sweet fish sauce you're suppose to pour on it, it was too sweet. Maybe I'm just not a fan of too much fish sauce. Although it was just okay to me, I think its definitely worth trying if you're in the neighborhood because a lot of the other things looked really good and its fairly cheap. Our whole family combo, with three fish dishes, was only around $42 dollars. Something like that in the East Bay would cost a lot more.

Blah. I was looking for a popular dish by a restaurant in NorCal...except this place wasn't it. The food overall wasn't that great. The service was NOT TOO GOOD. I didn't like how the server didn't really speak English....

Went here because it was a last minute decision driven on hunger. Unfortunately it resulted in sub-par Pho. Not much else to say, the menu was very vast which leads to mediocre results.

Visiting from Chicago I expected great Vietnamese food in the Vietnamese capital of the US. We ordered the Bun Rieu, Bun Bo Hue and Banh Xeo. The banh xeo came out first and it was perfect! nice and crispy, with a good balance of saltiness in the batter. The soups came out pipin' hot. It was ok. The Bun Bo Hue was ok. It was not spicy at all. The Bun Rieu was also alright. It was missing something. I've had better in Chicago, surprisingly. Perhaps it was not their specialty. Service was friendly and attentive.

Bad service. Old man has an attitude. We asked for plates...they replied why do you need plates??? Finally after asking 5x we were given 3 for a party of 6. Won't be coming back anytime soon.

It was another one of those late gym nights when after I left, I had a huge appetite! More specifically, I was craving Bo Tai Chanh (medium rare beef with herbs & lime) MMMMmmmm. I pulled out my iPhone and Yelped "Bo Tai Chanh," and amazingly a list of nearby Vietnamese restaurants popped up! Pretty nifty Yelp! I headed for the closest one, which was Q's Lounge, but it was closed, so the next one on the list was Thanh My in Westminster. It had been a very long time since I've eaten at this local favorite, so I was hoping that this would turn out to be serendipitous :) As I pulled up with my gym buddy to the restaurant, I noticed it was pretty packed inside. That was a good sign. As soon as we stepped inside, we were warmly greeted and shown to our table. The restaurant appeared to have gone through a subtle revamp since I had eaten there years ago. They repainted the walls with warmer tones and installed charming pendant lights on the ceiling. With the addition of seasonal holiday decor and Christmas music playing in the background, I found it to be very festive and welcoming. As we looked over our menus, I had forgotten how extensive the menu was! But there it was, my Bo Tai Chanh! The mere anticipation of eating this dish began to make me salivate profusely! Here's what we ordered: Bo Tai Chanh - Medium rare beef salad topped with crushed peanuts, chopped aromatic herbs, and marinated onions. Served with lime wedges and a savory anchovy paste sauce and fish vinaigrette for dipping. The meat was marinated perfectly, it was slightly more cooked than I would have preferred, but it was still quite tender and flavorful! The herbs were fresh and brought a vibrant flavor to the dish as well as the lime juice, which gave the dish a tangy kick! Bo Nuong La Lot - Char-grilled, minced marinated beef wrapped in wild betel leaves. One of my favorite 7 courses of beef dish served ala carte. NICE! It was a bit salty, but the meat was soft and juicy! I wrapped it up in wet rice paper with fresh pickled vegetables and dipped it in the tangy fish sauce....mouthwatering satisfaction! Banh Hoi Tom Thit Nuong - Platter of steamed rice vermicelli patties with char-grilled shrimp (peeled) and grilled pork. The shrimp and pork were marinated perfectly and grilled beautifully! The steamed rice vermicelli patties were soft, moist and fluffy. Overall, I was very satisfied with my meal and with all my selections. Especially, the Bo Tai Chanh! When I found out they opened late, I was definitely adding this restaurant to my late night list of good eats! Although they did not specialize in anything in particular, I found their specialty was the extensive VARIETY of dishes they offered, and isn't that the spice of life? Happy Eats!

Late night place to satisfy your pho cravings after a night of crazyness.. Thanh My is always the way to go.. After a night of clubbing in the OC, pho always hits the spot! I love coming here.. the service is fast even for a packed house. Yeah they don't cater to you (hello, its Asian restaurant what do you expect?) But they do the best job they can! I've came here a few times during day light and the service and food is still the same.. so its not my drunk talk saying the food is good! haha Cash only and sometimes their bathroom is kinda messy.. but hey, drunk people aren't the cleanest! :D What I love, and maybe you will too: Bo Luc Lac Banh Hoi Tom Thit Pho Special - their meat is good :D and more! Trrrryyy it! :D

Trying to choose a pho location from the long string of restaurants on Bolsa Ave? Choose here, choose here! An average, casual... packed pho restaurant that serves a variety of noodle soups and does a good job at it! Their chicken pho is clean and there's no holding me back with their fried egg rolls. Don't like chicken, try their filet pho. Food always comes out fast and they get the orders correct.... as compared to the experiences I've had at other pho restaurants. Now.... I have an easier time trying to pick from all the many pho spots in Westminster.

I was starving. Usually food tastes better when you are starving, right? My food wasn't good. I was still starving after my meal because I couldn't eat it. Ordered broken rice with Chinese sausage (lap cheong) and fried bean curd shrimp cake. My soda chanh was just okay. I've had better. 2 stars!! Thanh My is not yummylicious!!

This is one of the more decent spots that stay open quite late for those of you craving Viet food after midnight. I've came here many times for lunch, dinner and midnight snacks and have always found it to be packed with people regardless of the time. Portions here are quite good and I always leave feeling more than satisfied. Their BBQ pork plates and their #1 phos are quite good. For the price and the portions, you just can't go wrong. Quality here is quite good and this is one of the spots I frequently come to in this area, even though there how many dozens of Viet restaurants up and long the entire Brookhurst and Bolsa strips. As with most Asian-owned businesses, you can even bargain with prices(yes at a restaurant :P). I remember my friend and I asked for extra portions of pork and even noodles quite a few times and I joked around asking if they can hook us up with a 2 for one deal for both of us and they actually gave us the offer :P

this is the GO-TO viet spot in westminister...TRUST ME! there's happy hour where the dishes are impeccably cheap! i always get the pho, especially when it's happy hour! it's soo good, almost as good as grammy's home-made pho. my brother always gets the com thay com, which is a fried rice dish served in a hot pot with glass noodles on top. &we also top these dishes off with an appetizer of egg rolls which they give you lettuce to wrap it with as you dip it with the cute jar of fish sauce they leave on the table. spice it up &it's the best meal you will eat for the day! when it isn't happy hour, i tend to go with my family as a whole. it's good for big parties or small but the lay out of the place is pretty odd! i've tried the bo buc lac with macaroni before and surprisingly, i REALLY like it! did not expect the american vietnamese fushion they were able to accommplish! the spring roll are pretty good there too! my grandma likes to get the entree where they give you rice paper, lettuce, meat, and carrots and everything so you can build your own spring rolls. those are sooooo gooood. but if you want to go the safe route, i suggest getting the vermicelli dishes which comes with vermicelli noodles, shredded lettuce, and your choice or egg rolls or meat...OR BOTH! it's really gooood. i come back all the time ever since i was a little kid :) same owners, great service, and it's in the heart of viet central!

Bolsa..AKA "Little Saigon." I hate writing this review. There is nobody on this planet that loves Bolsa more than me. I have been going there since I was probably about 7. Always the fan. I have not been here for some time and I had higher expectations. I have been here many times in the past. The food was never the best but it was never bad. It was consistently ok. What happened to this place? Food was 1 or 2 STARS! I ordered Bo Kho. I asked the host and he said it was good. Well, here's the deal: 1. My broth was watery. 2. The meat was poor quality, dry, and extra fatty..very poor quality. 3. The baguette was dry and old. It could have been 2 or more days old. 4. Com tam. I love com tam. I prefer it over regular rice. It is a taste that carries a basket of nostalgia with it. How many white boys crave it? Well, I am one white boy who can smell it a city away and am drawn to it like a bunny is to carrots. It was whatevers here. I am not sure...but it tasted old and kinda dry. Overcooked? Maybe? 5. Soda Chanh.. 2.5 stars. Lately, I have been disappointed in several restaurants that I favored in the past. It seems, most likely for economic reasons, the taste has declined based on quality and freshness. Also, as the years pass, Bolsa is losing the "sense of family" it once had. Alas, I am old. I have grown old with those years of yesterday and old like my fond memories. But, my age doesn't matter. I still get to post. I was disappointed. I will close with offering an alternative. While the menus differ, Vy Da on Brookhurst and Bolsa carries a wide selection. It is not the best food and not bad food. Vy Da is old school and remains to be one of my favorite places because they never let me down. Also the Com Tam place in the same plaza as Vy Da is also way better! Kudos to my old school host who was dapper, charming and very polite. For this reason and because I have grown old with Bolsa..I give two stars instead of the one my meal deserved. I believe Nick H and Bolsa are just about the same age and we have both seen better days. "Bolsa and all the fond memories!" Another reason the OC is the best place to live.

I came here after going to Catalina for my birthday because we wanted to eat something soupy and warm, and this place came up on google. It was great because they open late and I didn't want to eat at Dennys. It was pretty packed and I ended up ordering bo luc lac and it was so delicious!

In college, I used to come here for late night pho all the time. The quality has definitely gone down since then. I haven't been here in years, so I was disappointed when my expectations were not met. Pho broth was a little watery. The bun was pretty good though, and it was a generous serving with a lot of BBQ pork. Overall, I'd recommend you go for their lunch specials, ranging from $4-5. You also get free tapioca dessert. I wouldn't pay full price to eat pho here. On a positive note, the durian shake is great! I think they use real durian fruit!

I've only had the Pho here but its never disappointed. I wouldn't say the pho is amazing or out of this world but its good and they have really late hours, which really helps if your craving pho at 11pm! They have a sign that says $20 for CC only but I've paid using a CC for a $7 meal before.

Everyone here who gave this restaurant a good review did not witness what I did. THIS PLACE RECYCLES. Normally recycling is a great thing for the environment. However, this place is recycling used food for new customers. Literally. I saw the waiter take the mint leaves and slice chili peppers I didn't eat and put it back into the bucket with his hands. Then a few minutes later I see him use tongs to get mint leaves and chili peppers out of the same bucket and put it onto a plate with sprouts and limes for some poor customer's pho. Never again will I go here again.

Thanh My is like the restaurant that's been around forever. If it's still standing and packed daily, something about it must be good. I haven't been here for a long time but I remember the waiters wore semi-matching Hawaiian shirts which was cute even though it's a Vietnamese restaurant. I wonder if they still do... I always enjoy the Hu Tieu Thanh My, which is thick clear noodles with bbq pork, fish balls, shrimp, veggies, ground beef, a tiny crab claw and yeah, pretty much everything. I like the quail egg and always save it for the last bite, don't know why but I did that since I was a kid :D I like my noodles dry so you get a small bowl of broth on the side to sip and some tomato-e sauce to pour in. The Che Ba Mau (tri color bean in coconut milk dessert) is good too, it really feels like a treat. All the dishes are fairly cheap, you get a large variety, they're fast to serve and they open late. My only problem is the place is old and feels dirty. The tables, chairs and condiment bottles are always sticky. Maybe some major cleaning will help them if they even need it.

Oh yes late night vietnamese food? Food: Every time I come to Thanh My I always get the vermicelli with bbq pork and eggrolls. The main reason why I love this dish is that the eggrolls aren't wrapped in your traditional wraps it is a clear rice paper which makes it chewy on the inside but crunchy on the inside! Overall: cheap vietnamese food at 2-3 in the morning? Hell yeahh!

I dream of their hu tieu kho everyday all day!!! seriously it is the best thing ever! I wouldn't really recommend the other food because I didn't think it was all that amazing. not bad, but not as amazing as I wished. let's just say that I was on an expense account and ordered way more food than I should but it is great to try out all these items I would necessarily try. yes - hu tieu kho - winner winner chicken dinner! yes - sinh to bo :) avocado shake! yes - bo luc lac --- shaking beef yes - chinese donut!!! yes - bun xao tap cam - seafood noodle yes - catfish claypot!!! :) melts in your mouth no - fried frog legs!! frozen and some of them weren't even cooked!!! no - they microwave your rice!!! no - beef stew....eeehhhh no - fried chicken wings. not even flavorful!!! just fried :( all in all, just worth the drive on bolsa to get their hu tieu kho!! seriously.. with the clear noodles!!! not egg! clear is the way to go!!!!! :)

My friend and I wanted something to do after taking finals so we thought why not late night food in Westminster. I read reviews about this place and thought that we would try it. This place was good, not great. The service was fast but we were a bit confused the whole time. They seated us and left, then another waiter came and took our order, and then they brought pho sides to our table and we were confused. It turned out they mixed up our order with another table. The service here is better then other Vietnamese Restaurants but it's confusing to order here. We both ordered Com Tam, which I thought was good, but the only down side is that they don't give you that much. I've been to other places in Westminster where you pay cheaper rices and get more food. We also ordered 3 colored drink (Che Ba Mau), it was pretty good. Overall, this place is a good place for late night in Westminster. I may have to go back and try the pho to make a final decision about it.

LOVEEE this place!! Just moved here from NY so I don't have many viet restaurants in OC to compare to. I can definitely say though that I have not met a dish I didn't like here yet. First came here after clubbing at Avec until 2 in the morning. I love that my friends and I can always count on this place no matter what time it is.. Not only because it opens really late, but food is also soo good. I ordered the pho and it was good but after sneaking a taste of my froend's "Boc Loc Lac" (a grilled beef with rice dish).. Oh myyy I was hooked! Returned again during the day for late lunch, but this time sober to see if it wasn't just my late night drunken munchies that overhyped this place... And surely enough, it was still as delicious as I remembered. 3rd time here, my boyfriend still ordered the Boc Loc Lac but I ventured into something I have been craving.. The noodle soup with crab meat and shrimp paste (can't remember the name of it sorry!).. And it did not disappoint! It was utter silence because I entered a state of bliss. 4th time here for lunch and opted for the first dish on the lunch menu, which is a BBQ pork rice dish.. $4!! Also really good! I honestly can come here 3 meals a day everyday for a week just to try out all their items on the menu. Overall, I think I have found my staple Vietnamese restaurant. Menu is hugee.. So much yummies to choose from. Service is great. Food comes out within minutes after ordering. Food is just heavenly.

I love this place for late night eats in Little Saigon. We always order family style because there's a little bit of everything for everyone. I love their pickled greens and honestly wished I could find some here that are as good. Forget the pho here, there are better places for that, order the pre-set family style menu instead. :)

Let me be honest here, the only reason I go here it's because pretty much all restaurants in OC close at 9:00PM and this is one of a few that opens later. I usually eat out pretty late since I normally go to sleep around 3:00AM!!! So I don't have much option, either this one or Luc Dinh Ky. If only other restaurants in the area smart enough to open until 1:00AM, they would get my money instead of this restaurant. This place has mediocre food and service. Nothing really stands out for me. I ordered Pho, Bun Bo Hue, Clams, Bo Luc Lac, Dinner Special, etc. all dishes were alright, edible. I can't say much since food was only ok, portions are on the smaller sizes compared to other restaurants. Prices are alright.

This place is not my favorite place to eat at. I was dragged here by my parents and I tried to make every excuse in the book possible not to eat here. I opened up my menu with defeat and tried to order something new for once. Macaroni pasta? That doesn't sound too bad. I ordered it. The guy taking my order tells me "no." Straight up no. I asked him why couldn't I order it thinking that perhaps it was because they were out of pasta, but instead he said that it didn't taste good. Well why the heck is it on the menu then?! The food...is questionable. Very very questionable.

I've been here a few times, and the food tastes like it should to me. As a Vietnamese student living away from home, I often crave some food that reminds me of home. The last time I went I got hu tieu and my friend got bun rieu, both some of my favorite noodle soups. They were both good, but of the two I really liked the bun rieu. The restaurant is open late, isn't too pricey, and tastes great. Overall verdict: Inexpensive and great Vietnamese food.

This is place a borderline 3.5 stars, but I bumped it to a 4 because they accept cards... One of my favorite spots to go after a out because they stay open pretty late... I tried to come during the day time and it's not the same... Food comes out fast! The service during after hours can be surprisingly good...depending on how busy it is... it gets pretty packed after midnight...and you'll get a variety of loud drunk people... Can be entertaining, sometimes annoying... I always end up getting the pho with all the works... Always hits the spot.... Other dishes I've tried here are : Bo Luc Lac: Good dish, meat is tender 7 courses of beef: good dish to share Banh Canh: Surprisingly good!! Great flavors, love the texture of the noodles... Pork Chop: Wouldn't recommend it, it was dry... Fried Rice: Special combo- kinda bland Eggrolls: Delicious Prices are reasonable and again best part is they accept CARDS...

when i talk about food, i tend to talk about my experience more so than just the food, service, venue, or price....its the total experience you have when youre there...sometimes the people, occasion, and circumstances weigh into your overall experience. my first and only time at Thanh My was PERFECT all around. we drove from a club, late night, and were looking for a handful of our friends who were eating in the area. mistakenly, we walked into Thanh My and sat down to order food. as we sat there discussing all the fun we had throughout the night, the food we ordered started coming out, dish by dish. -dry vermicelli noodles with red meat gravy -beef and chicken pho's -porridge -ban xao -random fried stuff!!! everything here was good! granted i was still buzzed from the alcohol, BUT i "do know" my viet food pretty well, and compared to other spots in and out of the area, this place had every dish down perfectly. portions werent too big or too small...all around great flavored dishes and reasonable prices...service was pretty decent as well... will be coming back here sober next time to give it another go!

I went out with a friend, whom I haven't spoken to in quite a bit, and he suggested that we hit up this restaurant for some dinner. I have been here once before, and the experience was far from excellent. But I'm always for giving places second chances. The restaurant is in a small plaza with a few Vietnamese restaurants and stores surrounding it. They all share a parking lot that has an adequate amount of spots to park. The place is an average looking restaurant, no decorations or anything that make it stand out. The business is food! I think that's what they want people to get from it. I asked him what he was getting and he told me that he was getting the Hu Tieu Kho, which is a glass noodle dish served with a variety of meats and a light peanut sauce on top, with broth on the side. So I gave it a shot. I also ordered a Sinh To Sau Rieng, or Durian Smoothie. If you have not had it before, I think it is a love-hate type item. It stinks like no other, and everyone around knows when you are eating/drinking it. The Hu Tieu Kho was actually pretty good. There was just the right amount of noodles, meat, and sauce, and it all went together pretty well. I felt that the broth was a bit plain though, so I just left it alone on the side. The Sinh To Sau Rieng tasted either out of season or unripened. I didn't quite enjoy it as much as I normally would.

I love this place so much! First star: Great food, no matter what you get! I personally recommend item 138! Second star: The friendliest owner ever....plus hardworking servers! Third star: Opens late...where else can I fulfill my craving for pho tai at 1am? Plus the food is fantastic even though the place opens late! Can't say the same for some late night joints! Fourth star: Lunch specials that are cheap and yummy. Where else can you find top grade pho for just $4???? Fifth star: Well... because I really love this place and it deserves full marks!

first of all the waitress wouldn't let my husband order what he wanted because she said only for Vietnamese people... Emplying my husband wouldn't like it when he knew he would and had been wanting to try it. Then my vermicili with BBC pork was seriously a grease pit with hardly any veggies. My husband pho was greasy as well and his chicken was all bone & fatty grit meat. So disappointed, we are frequent Vietnamese food people... So we know what to expect. Will not recommend or come back again.

Family style type of joint = real viet food? haha Many people know viet places for their pho, spring rolls and such but thats seriously not what they eat everyday .....such Chinese people don't eat greasy food everyday, thats mainstream haha Awesome place, and open late! They take cash & credit. And they understand, speak a little English. Service -typical asian place but still really nice. Food - basically don't get the usual mainstream stuff and you'll be good haha They have a huge menu so you have plenty to pick out of. Thanks to Jaimie "fat butt" D. and Nascent "guru" X. Yelpers for this find! They're locals and seriously know their Garden Grove/Westminister foodies. They recommended this place as the best viet porridge place so far.

This place is one of the few restaurants that stays open late in Westminster. Perfect for family-style dining equipped for large parties. It's busy here, always seems to have a line of people waiting. If you're new to Vietnamese food or want to explore something other than pho, then give this place a try. Their menu comes with pictures which is a nice touch. The men here speak decent English and they take both cash and credit card, a rare combination with the Vietnamese restaurants if you ask me. The food is okay here. They have two types of menus: individual plates and family-style a la cartes. The individual plates are entrees like pho, chow mein, egg noodles, fried rice, rice plates, etc. Price ranges on those from $6-9. The family-style a la cartes are similar to what to you get at Chinese restaurants. But these are what Vietnamese people usually eat and make in their own home. Items like soup, stir fry meats and veges and fish. Nothing is real spectacular here. Maybe because they have such a wide range of food on their menu that they have no specialty. Give it a try: decent food, fair prices and good service.

A very good Vietnamese restaurant! Service is fast and kind and can speak English well, which is already a plus. I've tried Banh Xeo. The outside was crispy but oily, and inside there were onions, bean sprouts, pork, and shrimp. The pork was dry and the bean sprouts were oily as well, so this isn't something I would order again. I've also had Bun Cha Gio with Shrimp Paste stuff (can't remember what that's called) It was pretty good! You can't tell from pictures, but there is lettuce, herbs, and peanuts on the bottom. A nice blend of flavors with the crunch :) The noodles themselves weren't the best, but the other stuff in the bowl made up for it. Their nem noung are awesome, and they let you wrap your spring rolls yourself if you prefer which is really fun. They give you tons of fresh herbs and lettuce. I do NOT recommend Hu Tieu here. Its much tastier elsewhere. This was rather oily and pork tasting with hardly any veggies inside :( I tasted the Mi noodles and thought the broth was salty and the noodles were hard, but I'm not a big Mi fan anyway. But by far the best thing here is: Bo Luc Lac!!

We're pretty picky about Vietnamese food and have probably had the best there is around the world (HCMC, Hanoi, LA, SJ, NY, etc.), and it's pretty unanimous that this is probably one of the best Vietnamese food places in the world. The lemongrass beef, fried spring rolls, and bo nuong la lot are the best there is. The hout and sour soup (canh chua) is one of few dishes that are just so so. Pho and spicy beef noodle soup (bun bo hue) are decent, but it you're going to have that, you might as well go to a place that specializes in that. And it's really cheap, plenty of parking. I used to have much better dining experience here when I lived in the OC area three years ago. I came back for late dinner since there were not many Vietnamese restaurants in Little Saigon that opened after 9pm. I and my friend had two noodle bowls. My first sip of the broth screamed MSG MSG MSG MSG MSG. There was no real flavor at all. I was drastically disappointed. Well, the savior of the night was our dessert, black jelly in coconut cream. yum! but it was a little sweet. I would recommend to have family style lunch/dinner since that was what I always had when I came here before. I didn't know how to cook back then and this served family style food that was closest to what my mom made in Vietnam.

I ordered a combination fried rice and a beef vermicelli with egg rolls. It was so good!!!! I also got the three colored drink called che ba mau. It was ok. Too chalky for me and used ice cubes instead of crushed ice. I didn't like that. the cubes got in the way :( service was good. When we went up to pay with our ticket the old man was adorable. We paid and he told us to have a merry Christmas and a happy new year with a smile. Too cute!! :D

Maybe this is the hungry me talking, but the wonton noodle soup with BBQ pork I ordered - media3.ct.yelpcdn.com/bp… - was just what I needed to cure yet another sudden attack of noodle soup craving. Maybe it was a combination of "everything tastes good when you're hungry" and "cold weather" and "MSG" - it just felt like the perfect bowl to enjoy right at that moment. I also ordered ginger clams with onions - media3.px.yelpcdn.com/bp… - and it was delish. I just love clams in general. My friend thought I ordered too much food, but I said "Dude, it's clams. There's barely any meat to fill you up. Just watch me." :) Sure enough I finished the whole thing under 10 minutes while enjoying my noodle soup. Win. I'm always amazed at how large their menu is. For a small little mom and pops restaurant, you wouldn't think that they'll actually make more than 20 dishes. They have everything from rice to noodles to a la carte seafood and meat dishes all in both Vietnamese and Chinese style. Thanh My is usually a place my friends and I go after a long night of partying because they open late. It's not just a safe choice when there's nothing else open and we don't know where else to go, the food is actually good. Better than settling for 24-hour McDonald's, wouldn't you say? :)

My friend and i frequent this place at least once a week and try different things on the menu every time. Not once we were let down with the dish that came out. One time we decided to try the Bo Luc Lac and were absolutely blown away. Thanh My is open late, has great food, many choices, and the friendliest restaurant owner. There usually isnt a wait either so you can be seated right away. Just might be kinda hard to find since theres like 3 gazillion Vietnamese restaurants in the area.

4.5 rating. I was so glad to have good Vietnamese food, it had been a while. After ordering, the dishes were brought to us quickly. Everything we tried, from the shrimp & pork spring rolls to pho tai (pho with beef slices) pleased us. The thai iced tea was prepared in a strong and delicious manner. The menus are in the fashion of spiral notebooks with thick pages. There are plenty of these pages with different dishes, appetizers and drinks, there are pictures of the items farther in the back of the menu. Once finished with the meal, the paper stub they give at the beginning can be brought to the counter to pay for the meal. Pho is very good to have on a cool night, in my opinion. I was glad to stop by with Tom before it got late and very busy. Side note: This is one of the restaurants Yelpers love, there's a wooden plaque with the Yelp logo inside. As well it is Zagat rated.

I've been here twice. I'm gonna attempt to shorten my reviews tfrom now on. Pros and Con Pros - My food has always been good. I've had rice and pork and a bowl with clear noodles, crab, nuts, beef, soup on the side and more at this place in the couple times I've been here. I've never had a bad experience. - The Soursop shake is delicious. - The prices are fair. - The service is OK. Nothing special. Our waiter was very friendly. - Restaurant seemed clean. Didn't use the bathroom so don't know about that. - Always seated quickly. Food was also served quickly. - its open really late. I love that it's open late. That's my favorite feature. Con - The English is sketchy as with many viet places. It's not a big deal. We had a young female waitress who did not understand that I wanted room temperature water. I tried saying warm, Luke warm, room temperature and not cold. In the end, my friend cut me off and told her water with no ice. I wanted to drop kick him something WWF for cutting me off when I AM SPEAKING... but I taking a while to order water so I reconsidered. Of course, as I expected, she brought cold water with no ice in it but at this point, i just let it go. - There was this one asian hoe with her boyfriend in the restaurant who kept staring and giving me the stank eye like she ain't ever seen a black guy in a Vietnamese restaurant. I wanted to go smack her to realign her focus on something else ....but my friend says I'm just paranoid so I reconsidered. (BTW this isn't the restaurants fault.) Altogether, I like this place. Its ok. I would go back.

i really wanted to give this place 5 stars because i eat here often, but everytime i order my egg rolls with my pho ga, my pho comes out way before my egg rolls so by the time i am done with my pho I am too full to eat my egg rolls... the food has always been good and the staff friendly the only thing that erks me is cash only policy.

This place a large variety of food and it opens late so I usually come here with my friends at night. Their pho ap chao is good but their filet mignon with macaroni is the best! Their pho has to rank number 2 on my most hated pho list. Number 1 is pho thanh long. Good place if you want to dine in late at night and you're feeling some asian

  • Kiet N.

Horrible service, the waiter argued with us, because he did not want to bring us extra drinks, he said quote on quote " why don't you get all your drinks at once!!!!" I told the owner & he ignored me. I'm never coming back here again.

Went here 2x and both times got the Pho Tai (Rare Steak). YUMMM. It's good and cheap. They give you a lot of noodles and I like the broth. Definitely would go back if I craved pho and its open late. I give it 3 stars because when I took the Siracha sauce, a little roach (cockroach possibly) was crawling on the bottle. Maybe it came out of the bottle????! HAHHA. Gross! But this is an Asian place so the dirtier the better?

This is an old school place. It had been here since I was a little kid. Food are decent and since they open late, it is a great option for late night grubbing. Can't recommend anything, because all the foods are about the same. Not great, but not bad.

Thanh My is one of the longest standing Vietnamese restaurants in Westminster. The food here is above average, very tasty and has that home-cooked feel to it. I like that the restaurant stays open late because you often sacrifice great-tasting food when going to late-night food places, which isn't the case here! They serve individual dishes or you can opt for a family-style meal with a set number of dishes. If you're somewhat indecisive, then you can be like my family and do both. At the end of your meal, they bring you their house dessert which makes it even better. For individual dishes, I recommend the bun cha gio, bun rieu, or hu tieu thanh my.

  • Hue L.

I ordered Canh chua ca (fish sour soup) and Thit kho to (caramelized pork in stone-pot) there and was really disappointed with the food. The soup was mediocre (I've had better canh chua from other restaurants), while the pork was really sweet, even though we explicitly asked them to make it a little bit saltier beforehand.

My partner and I eat here often and have never been disappointed: the service is reliably friendly and the food never disappoints. We often get two appetizers, the imperial rolls which you wrap in lettuce and other greens, and the shrimp paste cooked on sugar cane. Delicious! The bun is good, too, but we like the appetizers so much that has become our standard fare.

It opens late, the menu has wide selection from rice dishes to noodles dishes and other dishes.. Their food is alright, nothing stood out, I wonder what is their specialty. One down side is that their portion is small for the price you pay for comparing to other Vietnamese restaurants.

3.5 stars Yays Vermicelli with Imperial Eggrolls (it also comes with raw beans sprouts, mint, basil and shredded lettuce underneath the vermicelli) Clams with basil LUNCH SPECIALS daily 11am-5pm open really late huge menu - they have all your Vietnamese food cravings covered Nays spring rolls - peanut sauce waaay too sweet and ingredients tasted like they were thrown together without flavor and much thought a lot of msg in their food - I got migraines afterwards dirty Try next: - #38 bo dam - filet mignon with garlic sauce - I heard it's super tasty! - bo luc lac - Shrimp Vermicelli

This restaurant has been around forever. The good thing about it is that it is open late. It used to be packed but w/ so many other restaurants that are opened late, the crowd has gotten a lot more sparse over the years. They have almost everything you can think of, even beer. You can have pho, porridge, rice, eggrolls, etc. They pretty much everything. I used to like the hu tieu my tho a lot. It is the clear noodles that can be served dry or with a broth. The sauce is a little sweet and the meat is too thinly sliced. The pho is ok, not too sweet like some other places, and actually has flavor to it. I liked the bun bo hue, pretty decent for a place that doesn't specialize in it. The stir fried macaroni noodles w/ the beef is not too bad. A little on the oily side and a little sweet. They also serve a variety of dishes that you can order family style. I like the caramelized pork in a pot. The crowd is a little older. The servers are all very nice. This is a nice alternative if you are out late.

I found this place through yelp because it was opened late and had good reviews, so I decided to try it out. I am really happy that I found it. this will be my favorite place for late diners. It is delicious!!!! It's not expensive. I did not have to wait long even the place was busy. staff was very friendly too. I am definitely recommending this place!

Best customer service here! The owner is super friendly to their customers. I always got Bo Luc Lac and Com tam here. They make one of the best Com Tam in the area. I love the environment here, very peaceful, quiet, and clean. I also love the area, parking area looks clean and safe. Overall, I have nothing really special about this place, but I love coming back once in a while for a family lunch or dinner.

I like going to Thanh My because they're opened late - a good spot for some late night eating after partying in OC. I usually get the same thing every time which is Pho or Vermicelli which I love. Came here at 10pm with the family the other night after wanting to go to THREE other restaurants first and found out they were all closed, so we resorted to Vietnamese and this is the first time I finally got to try different things other than my usual. We ordered: Stir Fry Cubed Beef with Onions Sweet and Sour Prawns Combination Fried Rice Clams Seafood Soup Stone Pot Fish And it was all delicious, I'm not a fish person but the flavor of their Stone Pot Fish is amazing, couldn't stop putting that thick sauce from the pot over my rice. I think this is one of those places where it's good if you're with friends and order your own individual entree and pay for your part. Not so good for a family style feast because each entree is a bit pricey for what it is and adds up in the end. Compared to a Chinese Restaurant we could have gotten more food at half the cost.

Open late with an expansive menu. The night owls and clubbers are usually here in the early AM. With a large menu, stuff will be hit or miss. A hit I stick with is bo luc lac. I'd rather go here than luc dinh ky across the street. 3.5 Stars

Great place to stumble into when you're craving something Vietnamese other than (50%) pho after a late night of drinking or clubbing. ...I suppose it's an all right kinda place to go to during the normal waking hours too... Recently came in after a girls' night out. The place was bustling for 230am on a Saturday night. Our party of 6 was promptly seated in a booth seat. I had the egg noodle soup with wontons. The soup was flavorful, but not too salty. Noodle portions were just right. Pieces of Chinese celery, bbq pork, and cured pork were also included. There were about 5 reasonably sized wontons floating about my bowl. The wontons were good, but definitely not like my mom makes them. Friends had beef pho and a bowl of the banh canh. The beef pho was standard, but the banh canh was a little on the greasy side. Service was fair. They were quick to come to take our orders. Orders didn't take too long to come out, but they didn't even bother to clear the dirty tables around us. There were plenty of people there, but they didn't seem very concerned about keeping the place clean... maybe it was because of the late hour, but sitting about 1 ft away from a disgustingly messy table isn't really good for the appetite, even when buzzed!

After day 2 of your Disneyland/DCA trip we were hungry and it was late. So I called up my cousins from Placentia and asked if they knew any place that were open late. Me: Hey Cuz you know any restaurants open late? We're coming from Disneyland so we won't be eating until 11PMish. Cousin: do you want Mexican? Me: hmm not really, what about Vietnamese? Cousin: no Me: Ok thanks for no help! Yelp it we did, and what did we find you ask, THANH MY. We got the large bowl of Pho with the tendon, rare brisket, tripe, etc. Broth was nice and hot, perfect for a chilly night, and we also got the Imperial Egg Rolls; fried to a perfection so it was nice and crunchy. To my cousins from Placentia if you ever want Vietnamese food that open until 1AM come here!

I was in here for lunch the Saturday before Tet. For all the competition in the area, I was disappointed. I am told this restaurant has been here for at least 20 years. One of the first Viet restaurant from back in the day. The inside is what you expect in Bolsa. The restaurant layout is funny. You actually have to walk through part of the prep station/ kitchen to get to the other side of the restaurant. A little cramped. The service was what you expect. Meals did come out at all different times. Spring roll appetizer came last. Forgot about my coffee? or it took a really long time to make. The food was just OK to me. Bo Luc Lac did not impress me. Steak was not that tender. Pho was OK but as with other places, broth seemed thin. I guess I should stick to eating my own pho. Cafe sua da was really good. The price was $30 for 3 people with 3 entree, 1 appetizer and 3 drinks. Overall, disappointed. Not my thing here. Sorry

came here yesterday. not a regular pho eater myself but honestly was impressed by the place. very spacious and the staff are super nice & friendly. I ordered beef pho and the salmon mango salsa dish. WOW! did I enjoy my dinner for $20 only. I highly reccomend this place bc of great customer service, location, & the delicious food. will go there again and again .

I will never be back! My food came with a fly swimming in the fish sauce and at least one ant in my rice. I didn't complain to staff because 1) with the exception of one annoying woman, they were pretty pleasant 2) I wouldn't have eaten anything else they brought out and 3) I've never witnessed asian restaurants comp-ing bills, in whole or part. Other gross things I observed while there: staff person dipping his fingers into vat of bean sprouts submerged in water upon every trip to the kitchen (just because or maybe just a nasty habit) and staff using dirty rag to wipe down tables and drippings on the side of newly made food dishes. Yikes! Again, I will never be back. Other important info: dirty!, insects in food, menu has some pictures, very crowded, and open late.

This place has THE best authentic vietnamese food for a low price. The menu has a large variety of food from cold dishes to hot dishes and porridge to soups. A lot of my family dishes are also made here and it's great to get a feel of home cooked food... Conveniently.

The Pho' broth had just ok flavor but not the best. It was also very cloudy. Lots of noodles in the large bowl but barely any meat. I think the small bowl with extra meat would be just right. Place is clean which is nice.

The best pho place I've been too. The menu is extensive. The pork and beef and especially shrimp are excellent quality and so flavorful. The owner is friendly and smiles a lot. Best part is they're open super late. The bun dishes are fantastic as is the pho. The wontons in the wonton soup are easily the best I've ever had.

Open late, I love it. It's the reason I stumbled upon this place. Hungry, tired, and craving Vietnamese food, I whipped out yelp and this was the closest place to me that was still open at 2am. I ordered the thit bo luc lac & something with egg noodles and seafood. Both were delicious. The meat was perfectly seasoned and flavorful. I loved every bite. The broth to my noodle soup was also delicious. The soup was flavorful without having to add anything to it, only complaint is that my LARGE bowl was actually very small. :( I wish the portions were bigger so I wouldn't be hungry after I finished eating. This is really a 3 1/2 star review, but seeing as yelp doesn't allow half stars...

  • Craig L.

By no means is this as good as Thanh Long...but, they're less crowded. With that said, the place LOOKS clean...but I have my suspicion about the kitchen. The floors...well, they could use some work. Service is good...fast...and efficient. My food was very good...digging the Pho Ap Chao here. This place is open very late. I'd bet half the patrons are sooo stoned or tanked up on E from whatever club they just came from they probably think the food is a 5 star meal. It's not...but it IS consistently good...and reasonably priced. While not my number one pick for a 2AM post karaoke meal, it is in my top five for sure. Needs a bit of cleaning up...newer tables and settings, for instance...to move this place higher in the rankings but overall, do not fear Thanh My!

I like this restaurant because they have a variety of food selection on their menu. However, I'm only giving them 3 stars because most of the time they run out of food. I wanted to get the bo nuong vi there but they said that they don't serve it at the time? They said it was because of all the smoke that comes from it? First of all, don't put it on the menu if you don't want to serve it during anytime of the day. It's stupid. Made me come there for nothing.

Had family style dinner here with 3 friends tonight. We didn't feel like any of the family style combos they offered, so we decided to just get a bunch of the dishes I always eat at home. - Ca Kho To (fish in claypot) - stars...flavorful and tastes like home. - Tom Rang Muoi (salted shrimp) - 3 stars...a little bland, but still very good. No need to peel the skin, you can eat it whole. - Mi Xao Don (crunchy egg noodles with meat and vegetables) - 4 stars ... tasty and flavorful. The noodles were crunchy and the sauce was good. - Dau Hu Chien (fried tofu) - 3 stars...easy to make. The tofu was good, but the fish sauce was just ok. Had to add a lot of spicy peppers to the fish sauce. - Soup Mang Cua (crab soup) - 3 stars...bland. Get a different soup. We were happy with the meal, nicely full. Will come back for more.

I had #79 the friend cornish hen and the 3 color drink. Chicken was moist and crispy skin was the best! Came with a small side chicken broth soup topped with dried onions. $6.50! That was a good deal! I also ordered the three colored drink: red bean, yellow bean, and some green stuff. It was okay... Not the best, but it was okay. We went on a Saturday around 3pm, and the restaurant was medium full, which I like because the food is fresh. It's good. Compared to the 1.99 places, you get more food!

I always leave happy and stuffed!! Their chicken pho is clean and their fried egg rolls are so delicious! Filet pho?!? YUM!! Food always comes out fast and they get the orders correct.... as compared to the experiences I've had at other pho restaurants.

I used to always go to this place when I was younger.. and quite frankly, it's a little hard to believe that this place has been around for almost 25 years at that! The staff don't recognize / remember me anymore, but if I go with my dad, they'll know us right away. He's the one that they know. In any case, the service is still as mediocre as any vietnamese restaurant would be, I always get a Bo Luc Lac here, and over the years they've definitely improved the recipe and presentation. It's a lot fancier now (it comes out looking like a hotel-boutique restaurant style) than before when it was all shoved on a plate with some steamed rice. Open late, so it's a good alternative for coming back from the clubs/bars, if you can't decide between the pho joints that are 24hrs, lee's sandwiches, or the new tasty garden that's also open late. :)

Best place to go when it's past midnight, you want to go to bolsa, but you don't want pho, and you don't want to pay very much money. I like to get their family combo meals.. Super inexpensive, and pretty good quality. They accept credit cards.

If you are not Vietnamese, I would avoid this place like the Jews tried to avoid the Germans! What year is this anyway??? Racism is apparently not a thing of the past here in Little Saigon. So my husband (Philippino) and myself (White) made the unfortunate decision to eat here tonight. The girl who came to take our order walked up to the table and asked what we wanted. My husband let her know we had never been to a Pho place before, hoping she could offer some advice. No suck luck. She walked away. Came back much later to get our order. We guessed at what we wanted and ordered by the numbers listed beside the entrees. We got some terrible cold pork spring rolls. I wanted to spit them out, but forced myself to swallow them. I tried the Pho with "filet" which was a bunch of noodles in a minty broth with onions and a few pieces of mushy meat that could have been cat for all I know. Hubby got some Pho with Shrimp. Also containing a butt ton of mint. The sauces were unlabled, so we just tried a little on the side of a plate guessing at what they were. The containers were filthy. The other people eating here kept giving me wierd looks, which was uncomfortable. What was more uncomfortable however was the rudeness of the staff. They wouldn't even look at us. Our waitress never came back after taking our order. No refills on drinks. No asking how the food was. Not even a bill was dropped off. We walked up front, paid and they didn't say a word. *****ONLY COME HERE IF YOU WANT TO PAY A PLACE TO TREAT YOU LIKE SHIT and serve it up to you on a dirty plate********

In my opinion the best quality about this place is they open late and their Chao is pretty good. I can find other Chao places earlier in the morning, but not around 1:00 a.m. in the morning.

Lovin' the MmmmmSG in the pho broth. And the Bo Dam is da bomb. A.k.a "Special Tenderized Beef," it's 2 pieces of marinated, grilled filet mignon served with French fries and a fresh baguette!

You know this place has such a nostalgic memory for me. Every time I walk in here I'm reminded of late night food runs after long meetings and events at UCI. I've been coming here so often that everyone recognizes my face.. but in the last 6 years; I'll stop by maybe 4 times.. not bad still right? Well, food?? I think their food is pretty good.. I mean not the best in any one category but it's a place that has an array of Vietnamese food which can satisfy many palettes. So what do I order when i come? Hieu Tieu Thanh My, Com Bo Luc Lac, Com Phan (sometimes), Pho Ga and suong xao nuoc dua.. Yup ... that's my usual. Never really ordered Pho or anything like that but their food is great, they open late and service for me.. I enjoy!!

Great late night restaurant and amazing duck noodle soup (really tender duck leg and savory broth)! My husband and I come here when we get the late night munchies. Not the greatest service but not that terrible either. You'll have to go up to the counter to pay for your bill.

Apparently the Pho here is good. I wouldn't know, I'm not a fan of Pho at restaurants because everybody knows home made is better. I came here after a 4 year hiatus. Got the Bun Bo Nuong Cha Goi. I was delightfully surprised and it made me wonder why I overlooked this place for so long. Maybe years ago the food wasn't so great. This time though, the noodles were cooked spot on, tender enough but still had some resistance. Almost al dente if you will. Anyways, definitely recommended for a late night meal if you're tired of going to LDK across the street.

After catching a concert at the OC Fair my friend and I were feeling peckish but the thought of Denny's was just not appealing. We remembered that there were a number of late night options in Lil Saigon so off we went. We cruised down Bolsa, looking for likely candidates. Thanh My was jumping so we decided to try it. Very lively at 11pm on a Sunday night, huzzah! They have a very extensive menu, but I went for good ole house special pho with the beef, tendons, and tripe. My friend went for the seafood noodle soup. I liked the pho, but I can't say it was the best I've ever had. Perfectly satisfying, though, and my friend enjoyed her soup also. Food and service is 3 stars, and an extra star for being open til 2:30am!

This place brings back memories when I was working in the South Bay area. Midnight food runs, eating imperial egg rolls, chicken wings, frog legs, filet mignon dishes, and of course the beer. Every time I make it out to Garden Grove/ Westminister Area, I also want to come back here. I have been to many of the local restaurants around, but the specialty here in my opinion is the Hu Tieu Thanh My # 15 or 21 on the menu (depending on what type of noodle you like). I like the dish with the clear bean type noodle; which is favored more by the locals as well. The eggrolls are served with vermicelli, veggies on the side, and house fish sauce, is to die for here. Do not come to Thanh My ordering pho, it is by all means not the specialty or even worth ordering. If you are craving pho go elsewhere! Parking has never really been an issue. If you come by after midnight on a weekend, expect to get the club scene people around that hour. It can sometime get loud that late at night. Overall, I have still been coming here for about 3-4 years.

I've only tried 3 things here: 1) Pho 2) Bo Luc Lac, 3) Some type of grilled beef wrapped around a green onion, which the beef itself is then wrapped around (by your own hands) in those rice sheets (which you dip the sheets into a bowl of water to ease the wrapping process) that also comes with veggies and greens that look like it came out of some rain forest in Africa....and it costs a lot for one person. 1- Don't come here for that! 2- Yes, come here for that! 3 - Try it at least once if you never had it before. Mainly tho, just come here for the Bo Luc Lac. It's a good 10 dollar meal and goes along well with a Heineken.

Does this place know how to make anything bad? I don't think so. I've been coming to this place for over 2 years now. (at least twice a week) I've tried sooo many different things from the menu, the pho, the bun, many of the rice dishes...you can't go wrong!! AND IT'S SOO CHEAP! The menu is very easy to read. Plus they have pictures for you to figure out what you want, if you aren't familiar with vietnamese food. Come on down, give it a try, you won't be dissapointed. Oh, try the avocado shake, quite tasty.

Will and I decided to come here for our weekly catchup meal time. But we both werent really hungry so we got to sampler. It had Spring Rolls, EggRolls and all these other types of rolls and fried shrimp rolls. It kind of tasted with a mix of restaurant food and home cooking. Just enough for the two of us with no ape tits. i mean.... appetite. So it was pretty packed even at 10PM/11PM at night but we got a table within like 15 minutes. Like there was a sign in line in. The bathroom walkway is a little bit weird. A large shouldered person would not get into the bathroom.

We have known and dinned at this restaurant for more than 20 years. But our last visit on November 10, 2013, we felt the food was terrible and we smelt the restroom odor during our dinning. We checked the restroom door and it was closed. The odor must be escaped via the a/c ventilation. As we got home, I had to rush into the bathroom. We don't plan to revisit this restaurant again. The service was ok, but the restaurant is not servicing healthy meals and it needs upgrade of its a/c.

This has been my go to Vietnamese restaurant for the last 4 years. Their menu is huge (compared to other places along Bolsa). I always get their Cha Gio. I have had it at other places (both in Little Saigon and outside) but none can compare to this. Their pho is always LOADED with onions (green and white) so tell them ahead of time if you don't want them. The servers are always nice and they never hover. They serve you and then leave. They accept credit card, which is nice since I don't always carry cash.

Thanh My is awesome. My bf and I discovered this little jewel of a place by accident and I have to say it's probably our favorite vietnamese restaurant to go to. The menu is huge, the pho is good, tthe filet mignon tender (although they don't give u much meat for the filet mignon pho meat) and you can get seafood and large duck legs in soup for such a good price. I always leave here happy and stuffed. The restaurant has a cozy feel, I think maybe it's the yellow wallpaper and the asian music. Super asian, super awesome, and super delicious!

Bf and I are regulars here, particularly because the menu is extensive and while nothing is extraordinary, everything we've had is well-executed. They have your basic pho and noodles while also having some ol' homestyle Vietnamese dishes similar to what my mom makes: canh chua (sour soup) and carmelized pork. We also looooooove the lunch specials because they're yummy and freaking dirt cheap, ranging from 4-6 dollars for a good sized portion. We usually order the broken rice dishes which are AMAZING for the price point. Cheap, delicious, a diverse menu, and we've NEVER had to wait for a table. And the parking is sweet, which is a huge plus for a congested Asian-driver-packed city like Westminster.

Easily my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. I've been going here since I was a puppy. My parents use to go here to drink...back in the 80s. Yes Thanh My is that old! Its the go to restaurant when my friends and I can't think of a place to go because they have all the common vietnamese food there... and its delicious. *Price* It seems like the price is always going up.... probably cuz its so popular and is tourist attraction. I think their lunch menu might be cheaper I could be wrong. $10 would do you for lunch or dinner. *Service* It's on/off... but I can guarantee you its better than most Vietnamese restaurants in the area. I usually get my water refilled without asking. Its usually busy and always packed on weekend nights. *food* I cant think of any other restaurants that has all the common Vietnamese dishes in one restaurant AND is good. They also have hotpots which is also delicious. My father would always order the steak. It comes with fries, salad, and bread. Its bomb... but too pricey in my opinion. $15 I think. The steak is soft and juice-say! I would always order the Pho Ap Chao Combination.... my favorite there. Seafood, beef and vegetable stir fry over crispy flat noodles. Bum thit Noung Chay Gio... I thnk thats how you spell it. Very fresh tasting and you dont feel like a fatass afterwards. Mi kho... Ask for EXTRA sauce... thats my advice. There you go my TOP 3. Their fried frog legs are also delicious if youre feeling exotic. Smell you later.

Filet mignon in pho? Oh yes please! Giving "eat great even late" new meaning. Watch out wendy. Here they have a wide selection of vietnamese dishes like hu tieu, pho, bun, bo 7 mon, bbh, mi xao, and many others. Check them out between 10am-5pm for $3.95 pho and other select dishes.

Open late and is kind of a mix bag. Sometimes they have good service and bring you a desert at the end of your meal, sometimes they don't, and ignore you. Across the street is free nouc mat at the Luc Dinh Ky Restaurant. Oh yeah, Pho is in generous amounts. Place is newly renovated and looks pretty.

We probably go here once every two or three weeks even though it takes us at least half an hour to reach this restaurant from home. It's just that good. Their pho is the best I've had out of eight or so pho restaurants I've visited so far. My fiancé and I would usually order one large bowl of pho and one of their 200 other dishes. Then if we feel like splurging or are feeling a little greedy we would also order the Imperial Rolls - the once that comes with lettuce, noodles, and mint to go around the eggrolls. It's soo crunchy and good. The only reason we don't always order the rolls is because you get six rolls per order, and that can get a little bit overwhelming to finish between two people who also ordered two other main courses. Other than having delicious pho, this place also has a nice bustling atmosphere. The servers are awesome. And you can pay with a credit card!

Hieu Tieu- delicious! They made it the way I wanted: half thin egg noodles, half fat white noodles, add wontons. The cook has been cooking there for forever. I forget how long exactly, but more than 20 years for sure. I love the Hieu-Tieu broth MMmMm!

Food is good. Service is alright. Very simple and authentic Vietnamese food. A little bit over-priced compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. Overall, I love the food, my girlfriend and I come here when we crave the fish in a clay pot and sour soup and bo tai chanh.

My friend and I came here because we were craving pho and this was the first place we saw. We walked in and we were seated promptly. We went around 6ish - it wasn't too busy at all. We decided to get shrimp spring rolls, pho with chicken[hers] and pho with beef tendon[mine]. Shrimp spring rolls were tasty - the peanut sauce that it came with was light and peanutty. The pho is delish too... I loooooove beef tendon. I don't know what it is about tendon that is just so tasty... with a shit load of bean sprouts, basil, lime juice and some sriracha sauce... tasty! I've been to a couple of pho places down in Westminster - I will say that this is probably the cleanest one I have ever been to. Service was friendly and fast - the adorable little grandpa smiled at us when we said thank you. Nothing was too expensive to make your wallet bleed and cry - just some good food at good prices. :]

I love how this place is open really late. I usually only come here late at night and with my grandparents after a very very long day of working with them. The menu contains many items but my favorite is the Hu Tieu My Tho, which is a clear/yellow noodle with pork, shrimp, and chicken. Another good dish is Bo Tai Chanh, which is a beef salad with onions and lemon dressing.

In my search for decent food opened at late hours, I searched and found this little gem. My observations: - Not for the faint of heart. If you're not good with noise (and I don't mean DRUNK noise, I mean people talking while having food in their mouths noise), this could be a little much for you. -I noticed the very interesting clientele there. You have your traditional Vietnamese-American families, young people, etc. Then you have families with small children and different ethnicities (my husband is as white as all get out). Next to us were FRENCH-SPEAKING PEOPLE (no joke, I didn't understand a word they said), plain to see OUT OF TOWNERS. - CRAMPED. I mean, if you have any sort of body image issues, you better check them at the door because you are going to have to brush up against people, walls and tables to get to where you need to. At 9 PM, this place was packed. We were luck we were the only ones waiting and it just so happens a family of four just left. The people right after us waited at least another 10 minutes. The menu is quite overwhelming. 196 items seem a little daunting. But the pictures helped. Here's what we had: #7 Cha Gio: basically fried eggrolls served with a bunch of herbs. Definitely worth a try. #126 Pho Dac Biet: because any Viet place that messes up a simple pho gets no stars in my book of Yelp. # 155 Mien Xao Tom Cua: for my money I wouldn't order this again, but it sure was tasty. #59 Com Tam Bi, cha, Suon Tau Hu Ky: when my husband asked me what the heck is a pork cake and tofu wrapped shrimp cake, I told him order it and find out. The oddest thing about this dish was everything BUT the pork chop was EXCELLENT. The pork chop, in contrast, was just bland and the sauces didn't help that much, according to my husband. I would love to try this place out in the wee hours in the morning because it sure would be a nice change from IHOP and those nasty American-styled places that open up all hours of the night. I would recommend this for anyone who wants to venture out more into Viet cuisine but doesn't want to get laughed out the door because you have no idea what to order. I would also recommend this over Denny's any day of the week and twice on Sunday for those of you who love the night life but want something else besides pancakes and eggs at 1 in the morning. My children, age 6 and 2 actually enjoyed their food very much! This is surprising only because they are chicken nuggets type of children. The service was fine. We did have to ask for our water, which seems typical at most Asian restaurants now a days, and our appetizer actually came LAST. That was really bizarre. My pho came first, which I expected, but I finished it before our children's dish got there. Weird, but it was fine. Any way, it's a place I'd take my non-Viet friends to for sure! And also when I have those 1:30 AM munchies but can't be bothered to make ramen.

It is 5am, and with a heavy dosage of insomnia, I am wide awake and enjoying my "study break" for a Deviance Final Exam in 14 hours. As I type away mindlessly, I thought to myself what would be the perfect place to review at this hour. This little Vietnamese restaurant came into mind, and it just had to be done. Now after reading many reviews (both Vietnamese and non-Vietnamese) alike I have come to the conclusion, that avid supporters might be after me once I post this. Arriving here, I became filled with joy seeing as my urgency to eat Pho increases by the second as we (my friends and I) are escorted to our seats, while our mouths continue to salivate for MSG. After giving my infamous dissertation as to why Filipinos are Asian; not Pacific Islander, our company comes across a veteran Vietnamese waiter who awaited patiently for our orders, here is our dialogue, Old Vietnamese Waiter: *Thick Vietnamese Accent* OK...so what you want to order? All of Us: *Exchange blank stares with one another* *Then we state our specific orders* Friend 1: I would like a number 5. Friend 2: I would also like a number 5. (pho w/ beef balls) Waiter: *accent* OK! What else? Friend 3: I would like a number 7. Friend 4: I too would like a number 3. Waiter: *accent* OK! And you? Me: I would like a number 7 (house special; pho w/ beef, tendon, tripe, and etc.). Also would you kindly remove the tripe please? Waiter: *thick Vietnamese accent* OK! sure no tendon. Me: No I said Tripe. Waiter: *accent* OK! No Tripe. You got it. Friend 2: Oh! Can I get extra sprouts? Waiter: *accent* OK! You like sprouts, got it. *All of us exchange random conversation for 15 minutes, until side dishes and orders arrive* -All of us get extra sprouts (even though friend 2, is the only one who asked for extra) -My order came with tripe 0_o, when I specifically ask them to remove it. With our grumbling stomachs finally filled, our bill came and it created a mortal wound to my college wallet. Total came out to $50.00 even...wow. I never spent so much on Pho....because they didn't include gratuity (unless they would have sneaked it in, which I doubt). A lack of penny pinching while incorporated with entertaining dialogue and prompt service I gave a reasonable tip. So if you like medium size pho, with extra sprouts, and a man who can't help but give a re-affirming OK (that's 6 loud and proud OKs) for the entire night. Come here and get your Vietnamese on.

We used to come here as a family about once a month years ago and order off the family style prix fixe menu. All the wonderful dishes I remember as a kid are still on the menu. The family style we ordered included a sweet & sour fish soup, beef and onion salad with mint & lime, a typical vegetable/shrimp stir fry, egg rolls, and a caramelized catfish dish that is cooked & served in a clay pot (my all-time favorite dish). Sides included mustard greens, ginger sauce, shrimp paste sauce (not a fan!) and ngouc mam (not too sure what you call it in English). The food is served really quick after ordering! Our waiter was pretty funny and lightened the mood when we ordered two "33" Beers (Vietnamese beer) and he said "Okay, 66 beers.." My mom panicked and said "no, 2 "33" beers" and the waiter replied "yes, 66 beers"... Quick explanation and my mom was laughing along with the rest of the table. The food is great and the prices are reasonable. Bathrooms are a bit outdated and were dirty, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. If the fridge doors are open, you may miss the restrooms completely. You'll know what I mean if you go there. Will be back next time I am craving some Vietnamese Family Style and can handle the driving chaos of Little Saigon's streets!

After a long night out this really hit the spot. Right in the heart of Little Saigon located in a little strip mall you'll find this place to look like your typical ''Asian eatery joint." Packed with many descents of the asian culture, pendant lights and round tables. Well, you get the picture. We begin to situate ourselves in our seating arrangement by couples. (I know!) Look over the many choices of dishes and order on. I order thai iced tea and bbq shrimp vermicelli. I may be pescetarian but I have many choices when it comes to variety. So, I'd never tried this particular dish before. When it arrived and tasted it, I thought "Hmm, a little bland." But I realized that all the in the bottom of my bowl hid all the flavor. Mint leaves, cilantro, onions and brussels sprouts. Added a little of the sauces and pastes then the flavors came out. To describe my dish, it's like having your typical Pho but dry. It's gives you texture without the abstruseness of it's real flavor when eaten with broth. I know that this place has been given some low stars for reviews, but I'd have to say that the staff was very attentive and my food was delicious. I've got no complaints about the place.

before i forget... that special i talked about only applies from 10am - 5pm. we thought we'd go back but realized that there's no special pricing at dinner. :( this time, we went with a prefixe menu, including crab asparagus soup (since the tot likes this), a fried fish, a chicken salad, boiled chicken, and a mixed veggie dish with beef, shrimp, and squid. overall, it was just ok. reminder to self - just order a la carte.

This is one of those "Jack of All Trades" restaurants where the menu has a little bit of everything, and therefore doesn't really have any specialties or make anything that WOW's people. Came here to try the Pho Ap Chao (Crispy Chow Fun.) It was just your basic pan fried thick rice noodles with egg and meat, but it was tasty and fresh off the pan, so that always helps. :)

My Vietnamese neighbors took me to this place back in the mid-80's, and it's still a fun favorite of mine, with sentimental value to boot. I'm Vietnamese; I've been back to Vietnam... and generally speaking, I don't admire reviews by dudes who go to an ethnic restaurant and order... "fried chicken" and know what microwaved Vons egg rolls taste like. I typically order a lemonade-soda or the fresh coconut juice... because it tastes, oddly enough, like fresh coconut juice, which is just a little bit on the opaque side and slightly sweet... just like the clear stuff that runs out of a coconut, after you hack the top off and stick a staw in it - which is what I did when I was in Saigon a few years ago. Some of the servers are lifers... they've worked here for 25 years or more. They've always been kind to me, a war orphan who doesn't speak Vietnamese... and have even been thoughtful enough to give my son a fresh-squeezed lemonade - to go - on the house, as we've left. Yes, they may seem a bit harried during peak hours, but this place does a lot of business - and is heavily patronized by a very sophisticated Vietnamese crowd. Do unto others - if you're polite, they're very polite... but yes - during the rush hours, you may need to wave your hand and smile to signal that you need some attention at your table; they're not psychic. Almost every dish is accompanied by an overflowing plate of fresh herbs: basil, mint, cilantro, bean sprouts, lime wedges, chile peppers and a few slices of jalapeno with which to season your dish to taste. The House Special steak is very tender, and really reflects the French influence on the Vietnamese kitchen. It really tastes like a brasserie dish... and is a solid choice for a born-again carnivore, such as myself! Another regional delight is the Com Tay Cam - Clay Pot - which is unlike any of the dozens of others I've tried. This dish takes about 15 minutes to make - and when it arrives at your table, nestled onto another plate, take your server's advice and DON'T TOUCH THE DISH. Unless, that is, you are trying to obliterate your fingerprints and are planning to flee to Brazil or Canada - then, by all means: touch the dish. The top layer of fine cellophane noodles are red and have a perfect vinegar bite - which balances out the richness of other flavors and components: minced barbequed pork, chinese sausage, peas, carrots, tiny dried shrimp and two whole, hard boiled quail eggs. I'm told you're supposed to stir it all up and mix the two layers together, but I like the tangy zing of the cellophane noodles separate from the savory rice. The delicious finish to this dish is the crackling crust of rice that clings to the crock... it adds a delightful, humble, home-cooked, toasted-crunch to the whole experience. I'm salivating as I type! One should also note that the rice served with the listings under the rice plates and broken rice plates will not be piping hot. This is a very authentic, family-style restaurant; they serve the food as they would in Southern Vietnam. Steaming hot rice would detract from the flavors of the meat and seafood, in addition to wilting the fresh herbs. If you're eating family style, (which I highly recommend) - then you'll get a pot of rice to share; spoon some into your own rice bowl, and as you pluck things from the shared platters, transfer those tasty little morsels to the bowl, before shoveling them (and some rice) into your hungry maw. I'm also a fan of the "rice porrige" section - it's similar to Korean jook, so it's filling, without being heavy... I typically modify the standard selections so that my dish has just shrimp and/or chicken in it. I miss those big bowls of comfort food, scented with slices of lemongrass, and jacked with a handful of crisp bean sprouts and some lime juice. Enjoy!

Thanh My has definitely CHANGED!!! I loved this place bcs. of it's 3 biggest distinctions from the sea of other Vietnamese restaurants down Bolsa: 1. It's open late 2. Accepts credit cards!!! (Talk about a diamond in the rough! This RARELY ever happens in any Vietnamese restaurant so KUDOS Thanh My!) 3. Extensive menu - they serve almost EVERYTHING (not just a late night pho spot) Or should I say USED to have everything... After a late night of work/school/hw, and NO cash on me, I stopped here w/ a friend looking to get the Lau Thap Cam (noodle soup w/ everything), so we treked all the way out there only to discover they chopped off HALF the menu (half the yummy goodness...GONE!!). This was our "go to" spot to get Lau served in one of those hotpot majigs! You can only imagine the disappointment. I was forced to order a rice plate which was mediocre at best.... The chopped menu has turned Thanh My from a standout restaurant to a blip on the Bolsa restaurant radar. It only really earns 2 stars but the credit card factor was significant enough to give it 1 more star. Now, instead of it being my go to place for Lau, it's been downgraded to my late night Vietnamese place when I don't have cash on me :(

If you never have been to Little Vietnam, certainly go. Thanh My Restaurant is very much in the heart of it all with nearby shops, stores and cafes. I had a long day of holding out for a huge appetite and surely Thanh didn't let me down. Ordering a large Pho and and a sweet tea, this Westminster wonder place of delicious cooking and fantastic flavors. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. Expect very fast service.... I think I waited longer at a fast food joint to get something ten times more complex to make and healthier.

I didn't want to give this place a 4, but I've come here so many times, I'd feel like a hypocrite if I gave it anything less. I come here often because it's cheap, fast, no-frill vietnamese dining. Oh, and it's open very late, so it's a great place to just plop down while you're trying to sober up. The food has been very consistent, which in fact would garner good ratings because at least there's a system in place, and there's never the excuse of "maybe there's a different cook back there." That never sits well with me. Anyway, I'll stick to my normal Pho Dac Biet and avocado shake every time I come. And, asian foodies, guess what: they accept credit card!

Done clubbing for the night? Don't want Denny's but still craving a late night meal? After a long night of, well whatever it is, and you're starting to get the munchies, check out Thanh My. The fact that they're open late AND its clean, is always a plus. The pho is okay, but I would recommend the rice dishes or chow fun. Granted pho is a hangovers best friend, the rice dishes here are too good to pass up. The menu has a lot to offer, so if you're not sure of what to get, just order a bunch of food and split with friends.

It's more of a 3.5 than an actual 4. One of the few options I use when it's past 12am. I've been going here for years. This place serves a variety of Vietnamese food, everything your mom would cook for you when you were a kid. The prices were pretty good, back in the day...but it's still all right now. They have a special from 9-5pm where meals are from $3.95-5.95 making it a decent lunch. Their specialties are their delicious, crunchy, flavorful, fried egg rolls. You cannot go wrong with ordering that. Everything else is decent. I would come here for a bowl of chao ga when I'm feeling under the weather. It makes everything better. The food is consistent, friendly staff, service is actually pretty good, and it's a pretty clean place considering that you're dining on Bolsa.

Four stars for the delicious Vietnamese food. I'm very picky when it comes to Vietnamese food and Thanh My is my fav spot from their rice dishes, noodle specialties, seafood plates, etc I have been coming here since '99 and brought many friends, family and co-workers here I love it. The owners and staff are very friendly. The place as far as cleanliness is decent. And service, well if this is your first time stepping into a Vietnamese restaurant don't expect Hospitality service with 5stars. I'm used to Viet restaurants seating me down immediately or rush you to order. Very common.

Long Long Long wait time...Went to this restaurant because our family had not been here in a while. This restaurant has been in this location for many many years. Sat down at a table and waited for service... and waited and waited. If you have to wait too long for service and the waiters do not even acknowledge your presence, you should just get up and leave.. that's what we did.. If I could have given them less than one star, I would have. Being that this restaurant is smack in the middle of a multitude of restaurants, you would expect better.. knowing that customers can choose any other place..

Thanh My= consistent, clean, delicious, fresh, and creative. They've recently redecorated their interior and also their food arrangements which shows effort and attention to detail. The pho places on Bolsa should learn from Thanh My.

I went last night at about 11pm. I enjoyed the pho and my bf enjoyed a beef plate and it came with rice, soup, and salad. Both our meals equaled out to $11. It was cheap, late, and absolutely deliciously worth every dollar. I will definitely come back for more.

EDIT: Changed rating to 2/5 (see below my edit for my original post in which I gave them 5/5) The food is still excellent and still exceptionally fast. But the lack of service and safety concerns brings this down to 2/5 stars. Someone had spilled their drinks on the floor. Unknowingly, I went into the restaurant and they lead us to a table where the only path to the table was through the spilled area that they did not inform me about. I nearly slipped then as the area was very wet and there were waiters standing around, but none of them seemed to think it was a good idea to let me know the ground was wet, nor they did have any safety signs. Shortly after that incident, they "cleaned" up the place using a broom. So thinking that everything was okay, I got up to use the restroom, and of course, I had to take that path. Little did I know at the time, the floor was still wet since apparently they have no tools to safety clean an area that had water spilled on it. So as you can predict by now, I ended up slipping and it was not a pretty sight. The owner offered no reconciliation of any kind, I was offer no help, and worse of all, I did not even receive a free meal (bill was about $24). I ended up ending over a hundred on medical bills and pain reliever medicine since my shoulder was in serious pain for over 2 weeks. It has been almost 3 weeks now, and I still do not have full flexibility control over my shoulder. As a side note, the food I received that time was prepared ahead of time so it tasted bad, and their other safety concerns such as table crowdedness, bathroom location (one of their refrigeration units is 1 foot in front of the bathroom), and the overall cleanliness of bowls (usually wipe everything down before hand). I tolerated all of this until now. Keep in mind that this was my favorite Vietnamese restaurant, but I had not expected such poor management and negligence on their part. I have never had such an incident in a restaurant and due to primarily this incident that I will no longer be dining with them again. ________________________________________ Original Post: This place is the place to go for Vietnamese food. They are open 24 hours and offer very fast service. I came at 2AM and ordered some pho. The pho came within 5 minutes and boy, when you get those cravings at 2AM, that speed means a lot! They offer a very full menu, even the menu book is pretty trick and is very nicely laid out for English users and even has pictures of most of their menu items. They are very generous on the portions and have the best base pho noodle soup I know of in the area. I would highly recommend the first Pho item under Pho soup if you are a Pho fan and it comes loaded with everything and is very meaty with lots of noodles and a delicious soup base leaving little more to be desired from a Pho soup. I would also highly recommend the egg rolls. It comes with lettuce and lots of other herbs, you wrap the eggroll and herbs in the lettuce leaf and dip it in their sauce and you will not be disappointed. The price isn't bad here and they do accept credit cards (Visa/Master) Now all places with their bad side, and for this place it would be the staff. The staff here have limited English and it is hard to get service besides them giving you your food (i.e. more water) But since this is an Asian restaurant with Asian like speed and portions, I let this one slide.

Most of the dishes are good and cheap like many of the other typical Vietnamese restaurants, but one particular dish that we come to this place for is the #38 beef filet mignon steak stuffed with garlic. My husband and I have traveled quite a bit and have eaten at many high-end steak restaurants from Mortons, Ruths Chris, Gene & Georgetti, Gibsons and others, but we would go for this steak any day over the other restaurants for the unique smokey, garlicky flavor. And you can't beat the price of $15 or $16. You get a salad, fries, french baguette with two...yes 2 small filets, and roasted whole garlic cloves. Not sure if two steaks are always served, or if it's because they like our family. We just got back from Costa Rica and this is where my kids asked to eat. This is our pitstop when we come back into town craving good, cheap food.

I thought this place was okay for Pho. I had the Pho Tai noodle soup (Number 7 on the menu). I thought the broth was too salty. This place seemed packed. We had arrived at this destination at around midnight. I thought that the Pho broth could have been warmer though. The staff were nice and courteous. Apparently, you have to pay at the front counter but I believe that is typical of a Vietnamese restaurant.

Thanh My is my go-to Pho place for sure. However, if I have specific cravings, I think twice. The big bowl of Pho is huge and it's really good. It's tasty and full of goodies. I usually order the Dac Biet, so i like it all, but on occasion I get just the Pho Tai. The eggrolls are really good here. They're my BF's favorites. The spring rolls are hit or miss. I wouldn't order them anyways. Not worth the price. Just go to the deli/bakery place and pick up the premade ones. They taste the same. The clams are pretty good and the beef with butter rice are tasty. The Com Thit Nuong is okay, but I'd order something else. Bun Thit Nuong is much better. The service here has never been good but at least they're consistent. The last time I was there, we walked in at 1:30am and they were packed. We sat in the corner and just people watched. It's amazing. Anyway, They took our order pretty promptly, but much like the times before, the waiter tends to walk away before I'm finished ordering. My BF ordered the Beef Stew with egg noodles and got it in 10 minutes. It was pretty good, much different than Uyen Thi Bistro's, but still savory. My food never came. I figured they were so busy, they fell behind. Not the case. I ordered the Hu Thieu Seafood and after 25 minutes, I went up to the cashier/waiter who took my order and asked. He just yelled at the kitchen to make it, but made no attempt to apologize for forgetting. Whatever. My food came out in minutes and it was okay. I've had it before here and it was much better then. The noise and obnoxious people were a littel out of control. Watching all the people coming in after drinking and partying all night reminded me why I don't go out so much anymore. The table next to ours was being completely offensive to the waiter, making fun of his accent and language. Uncalled for!!! If not for the money-making mentality, I think this waiter would have told them to "F" off. This seems to be the norm late night at Thanh My. I've been for weekday lunches with colleagues and the staff is much nicer and attentive. Try going here early, before the late night dinner rush for sure. And they have beer. I will go back because I do like it, but I'll try to avoid the drunk crowd. I'm just to old to deal with it.

Wow, Little Saigon is not so little! There's maybe a square mile or two of Vietnamese shops & restaurants. I don't know how places survive with all the competition. Anyway, we tried this place based on the high marks, but I found the food to be average. I wanted to compare the pho to NorCal pho so I went with Pho Tai. I had my SO order Bun Cha, since that was a dish I've had as well. My pho broth was good, as was the fresh basil and sprouts that came with. However I didn't have the same luck with the noodles. Some of the noodles broke apart as I ate them and they had this weird aroma to them. How do you mess up noodles? Why would you even serve bad noodles? The small portion of beef was only decent as well. The Bun Cha was only served with slices of charbroiled pork, no shrimp or pork sausage and not sitting in savory broth, like I've had prior. So the pork was relatively dry IMO. The greens were nice and fresh and the bun noodles were great. Why didn't I get noodles like that in my Pho?! The Ca Phe Da (Vietnamese iced coffee) didn't come in the filter and sugar was pre stirred in for me. Minus points in my book. However, we got free tapioca desserts and the menu features a large variety of dishes. The place was fairly clean as well so I'll give it 3 stars. I probably wouldn't return with all the choices in the area.

Won ton noodles- thinner noodles than LDK. Won tons are more shrimp flavored. It also comes with an egg, fish patty slices and chicken. Good and light broth. Pho chicken- waay better than LDK. Broth smelled fresh and chicken was not stiff. Bun bo hue- taste more like Bo Kho to me. Good amount of meat. Broth had lots of lemon grass pieces like it was the bottom of the pot. Good ingredients but I still think Gia Hoa is better. My fam likes different things for viet food so this place serves everything and its all good. I would only go to LDK for the salmon. Total for 3 dishes-$20.64.

My favorite Vietnamese restaurant anywhere. HANDS DOWN! I'm Vietnamese myself, so I've eaten plenty of native dishes at restaurants all around Orange County, where the major concentration of Viet people reside. I have never pledged myself to a restaurant before, but this restaurant pretty much owns me. It has a variety of plates that will you have frequenting it from ages to come. I am a slave to its Clams w/ black bean sauce. It is the single most satisfying entree I have ever tasted in my life. When it comes out, it is succulent and the clams are HUGE! Take a look at the pictures in the gallery and you'll see what I mean. Eat it w/ a side of $1 rice and pour the sauce atop, and experience a food euphoria like you've never ever had before. Also, you MUST try their EGG ROLLS. You have NEVER tasted egg rolls like these. They're crispy on the outside w/ an amazing crunchy shell to it. I don't know how to describe it, but it's not the normal boring, bland baked Chinese egg roll that I tend to spit out after consumption. Be sure to dip it in its MAGNIFICENT fish sauce as well, with the red hot sauce poured/mixed in. The dish is in a league of its own. A lot of my friends also dig their BO LUC LAC (steak cubes), which is pretty tantalizing. All in all, if there's one restaurant to experience in Orange County, this is it. You don't even have to make reservations. GO. NOW. Stop reading. GOOOOO!

I'm Vietnamese and Chinese. I know good food in these categories and Thanh My was very disappointing. And let me tell you I was CRAVING some good fried rice that night. The only nice thing is they are open late.

I don't care what some people say about this spot but this is my late nite joint! Anytime I am in need for a good "variety" of choices to eat past 10:00 PM, I will drive my ass from Irvine to here just to get some good food. You can even order bo 7 mon here, however I have not tried it yet. If you do not know this spot and you live in OC, well I feel sorry for you. It has been here for a long long time so go out and try it!

Just finished partying? Butt wasted with some alcky and now you've got the muchies? But it can't be just anything, no denny's, no burgers etc right? And Pho, although it's always good it just won't do it tonight right? Well this is the place for that viet flava you might be looking for! This place has got all the authentic viet dishes and another fascinating thing about them is that they are always busy. If you come in here at 9pm on a monday night, I bet you'll see the place still conservatively full. Hence it is quite a hot spot in Little Saigon here. I don't have a particlar fav-dish here but I order the dessert often. I think I just come here because it's the "BOLSA STYLE" kind of restaurant. Bolsa Style in my dictionary means, FLavorful Viet dish that is chock full of MSG! Yep, this is the stereo type of restaurant you can go to but like I mentioned it's one of the HOT SPOTS in Bolsa. It also meets all the other stereo type of being quite dirty, busy, sub-standard customer service (unless it's the owner serving you), and fair quality dishes. But it meets the standard to be called quite an authentic vietnamese place. Just think that's it better than eating in vietnam from the peddlers! But in my book I'd call it "good and dirty"... although I don't eat here often unless I want to be knocked out from the MSG and that typically helps after a night of partying. LOL

In the wake of Pho Hoa's closure, my friend, Ricardo, and I have been looking for late night pho. Which in little Saigon is pretty easy... Since there's, like, a million pho places around the town. Thanh My was our first stop. Late night pho to be had. Steamy goodness... Everything was good. I appreciated that there was the faintest tinge of sweetness to my pho. It was rather yummy. The service, on the night we went, was pretty fantastic, which is a bit of a surprise as my experience at these pho places is that I see my server to take my order and then that's it. But they were on the ball that night, I Tell you what. This place is decent and good, like your younger sibling before you got them addicted to meth and porn.

Good cheap food... Very fast service... Soups are amazing! Fried rice with Chinese sausage was delicious. When you're done, however, don't expect your waiter/waitress to bring you the check... Just take your receipt number and pay at the door.

This is hands down one of the best all-around Vietnamese restaurant! I'm surprised this place is only rated 3.5 stars, WTF??!! Why the hell is it so damn packed all the time then? People have no clue of what a gem this place is. When I lived in OC, I literally ate lunch here like 2-3 times a week. I haven't tried everything on the menu because I usually stick to my favorites. But I have tried a lot of the dishes and I must say that EVERYTHING IS ABOVE AVERAGE. That is saying a lot because usually vietnamese restaurants are known for one special dish that they make really well, and everything else on their menu is shit. But for a place to make everything, and make everything pretty well, that damn sure deserves high marks! THEY HAVE THE ABSOLUTE BEST EGG ROLLS PERIOD! Here are my favorites: - Cha Gio (Egg rolls) - Com Bo Luc Lac (rice with cube filet mignon) - Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio - Banh Hoi Thit Nuong I like to go for lunch because it's less crowded and you get quicker service. The old men that work as waiters are very nice, they all pretty much know me by now. I don't know why people think they have bad service. I mean I always speak vietnamese to them and I have manners when I speak to older people, so I always get treated well. I can understand if the waiters don't like most asian kid's attitudes nowadays and give them bad service. Yea you know who you little OC rats are, farking no manners, can't speak viet worth a damn, and act like you're hollywood or some shit with your bug eye sunglasses on. Anyways, like I said, this place may not have the best of anything, but it serve practically every vietnamese dish more than adequately. If you want pho go to Thang Long; if you want spring rolls go to Brodards; if you want banh cuon go to Banh Cuon Tay Ho; and the list goes on...but if you're looking for an all in one, Thanh My is the place!

When night time rolls around and the thought of fries makes me sour, Little Saigon is my go-to. You've got to love a place where six ladies work the kitchen while all the men buss tables and work the floor. The menu is THICK. Don't worry if you don't read Vietnamese!--there are photos for most of the dishes! This menu does change to a smaller, photo-less one sometime after 10pm. + accepting credit cards + open late night + affordable, decent $6-$10 dishes. - creepy men (customers) - having to guard a lockless bathroom for the ladies

A pretty good pho restaurant in the area. I've been to this place quite a few times with my cousin. I'm generally satisfied with the portion of my pho - I usually order a Pho Tai and like that it comes with a generous amount of noodles and beef. I know they have a pho happy hour on the weekend, and pho is like $3! Can't beat that. I've also tried a few of the rice dishes and an appetizer plate that I can't even remember the name of but is sooo good!!

Probably THE best crispy egg roll i have ever eaten. Don't ask questions, just make sure when you visit Thanh My, you order the Imperial egg rolls! (not spring rolls) I think it is because the wrapper is different than what I am use to when I get egg rolls at a Chinese restaurant. The Imperial egg rolls are definitely worth it, and they are filling as well. They serve 6 on a plate with rice noodles, lettuce, and fish sauce. Drool, I want some just thinking about them... Anyways I have ordered the Bo Luc Lac (spelling?) the beef dish that everyone talks about in their reviews, but honestly I don't think it was that great. If I just ate an order of egg rolls and none of the beef dish I would have been very satisfied. On another occasion, I ordered the pho ga (chicken pho). Since they were celebrating their 30th anniversary, the bowl was only $3.95! What a good deal. I am not the best judge of pho, but it seemed pretty typical and delicious =p I also ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee with milk. Wow! Can we say, strong!!!!! I couldn't even finish the drink.

Great place to eat! Brother had the combo bowl, I had mine w/ brisket, and we shared some eggrolls. Eggrolls were crisp, fresh, and hot. The soup was beefy, flavorful, and the noodles perfectly cooked. Extremely affordable. Service is no-nonsense but not unfriendly. One of my fave. pho restaurants in the area.

I rate the loc lac here as #2 from my list. I say Noodle world has the best loc lac. But this place is a good place after a long night of partying in O.C. Its not as hectic as the other Pho restaurants around the area. The people here are usually a bit more mature then the other places. The waitress are cool but like all asian restaurants they like to rush you into ordering.

Take advantage of their 10 AM- 5PM special!!! If I remembered correctly each item was mostly about $3-5 during their special. Portions are the perfect size. It doesn't make you feel like a whale after trying not to waste food at restaurants. Food was good too. Oh, we even got free desserts after!

I absolutely love this place. A casual Vietnamese restaurant that has a variety of selections, most of which are EXCELLENT. My favorite is their specialty noodle soup (NOT pho).. If only I was good enough at Vietnamese to tell you the correct name for it. Anyway, it has a garlicy broth with all sorts of meats and seafood. The aroma alone can make you salivate! A great dish to bring you out of those monotonous fast food slumps. The com bo luc lac (cubed filet mignon w/ rice) is also amazing - one of the best I've had. I've had some appetizers as well which were all good but I can't remember which ones exactly. Definitely one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants, mostly because it doesn't blend in with all the others. Expect the typical asian customer service and don't get offended (it's just how it is) & you'll find that this place is real gem!

I guess because I'm Vietnamese it isn't all that great for me.. I ordered the bo lu lac and it was alright.. I do love their egg roll and thai ice tea.. yumm this place open pretty late i'm surprised. I'm surprised a lot of restuarant open late in the OC area.. I think it's pretty awesome I guess because only most mexican/american/chinese place are open down in the LA area so i guess that place is filled with Viet so theres many viet places open? we don't get too much of that down la area

Little Saigon Adventure #1 How is this place MORE busy around 9:30 than at 7:30 Friday night? So when I noted that I was going to Brodard Restaurant the next day, my family got excited for Vietnamese food even though we're Taiwanese and needed it TONIGHT(WTF, right?!?) Being the only Yelper in the family is no help. When I asked for suggestions, all I got was a "We'll go where there's a long in Little Saigon!" Ummmm....that doesn't sound like a practical strategy, but okayyyyy. The said strategy landed us here. We browsed through the menu for about 30 minutes since my mom had no idea what to get. We ended up settling for the authentic Vietnamese family meal for 3, which included the following: 1. sour fish soup (not used to the taste and thus not my fave) 2. cast iron salmon with sweet sauce (my favorite dish. I can see this as a Taiwanese dish as well) 3. pork with broccoli and other vegetables in thickened sauce (nothing particularly special about this dish) 4. salad with beef, onion, crushed peanuts, and herbs. What's with the Vietnamese restaurant check system where they give you part of the check after you order and then bring it back to the cashier when you're ready to go? All in all it was alright...though I think Vietnamese food in general doesn't sit to well with my stomach :-/

Came here for lunch on Lunar New Year. Happy New Year everybody! Year of the Ox. Thanh My was busy but not packed. Our table was for 13 and despite that number the orders of pho and broken rice and pork chops came out within minutes of placing the order. Those in the know say this is the best place in Westminster/OC for broken rice and pork chops, so give it a try. The fact that I was one of the few non-Vietnamese patrons is GREAT sign. I have to admit, it was truly delicious, but can't compare to my friend Stefanie's pork chops. (mentioned in other reviews) The pickled veggies and fried shrimp and tofu (comes with the order) were very tasty and you could tell, cooked to order. It came out hot and fresh.

This is where I first had pho after moving to OC. I didn't even know what pho was until I was forced to go and forced to order it. After that, this place became my favorite pho place for about 3 years until I moved to Westminster, where I am now spoiled by the numerous choices I've discovered, but Thanh My is still up there on my list. So this place obviously has sentimental value for me. And the pho is always tremendous (MSG warning), and there is an old Vietnamese man who is funny as hell. This place is for quiet eating enjoyment---not for stumbling in through the doors drunk and yelling at your friends across the table. Go to Pho Hoa / Pho Thanh for that. This is the first place where I experienced MSG overdose---although unsettling at first (your face feels like it's gonna explode)---it's kinda trippy. And...THEY TAKE CARD!!! A+++!!!

Love the traditional Vietnamese food there, especially the Banh xeo. They gave me a lot of vegetables and a wide variety of herbs to wrap the Banh xeo. The soup in the soup noodle dishes are very flavorful! Went here 2x in 3 days. Will definitely visit if we're in the area!

This restaurant is all my Vietnamese friends' favorite. I like everything they have. I usually order Pho w/red eye steak and fried spring rolls to share. Portion is big and you'll be surprised how fast they can bring food for us. I've been coming here for 5 yrs and its all time my favorite.

Koreatown has Hodori. Thai Town has Ruen Pair Little Tokyo has Korauku Little Saigon has....Thanh My. Your usual late night, dine in restaurant with a wide variety of native vietnamese food. From pho to buc luc lac (sp?), spring rolls to 7 course beef. The food for me is great , always hits the spot and fulfills my cravings. Even though its bit of a drive for me, especially at odd hours of the night, it's worth it. For the same price as aJITB combo meal, you can enjoy authentic, savory vietnamese food.

This is my favorite late night restaurant after clubbing or bar in Bolsa. Everyone from the bar/clubs would go here after hour's. So it is a nice place to really see who you actually was talking to in the bar/clubs and seeing them in real light make a whole different haha LOL I normally just order the mi kho thanh my(dry noodle special) and alway try and get the waiter to serve you beer after 2pm. So try very hard and normally they would give in and put your beer in a tea cup so they won't get into trouble if the po-po come in. I try eating this place in the afternoon a few times but it doesn't taste as good. Maybe it is the alcohal that make this place good?

My very favorite pho restaurant in the OC. Don't go anywhere else for pho. Save yourself time and disappointment. I like to start off with their crispy spring rolls, Cha Gio. The Bo Luc Lac is super tasty too. Ohhhhh, how I miss living in California! Colorado Springs needs a Thanh My!!! I love the waiters. They are cute, old men...super sweet. I like quail eggs so they would remember and hook me up with some in a small soup on the house. How awesome is that?!

My friend said that this place is good. I was expecting it to be good since it was busy. I ordered the bun cha gio thit nuong and it was just okay. It didn't satisfy my craving. My friend always orders the hu tieu kho and it wasn't bad. I'd have to try other things on the menu, but I think this place is only good for late night hunger.

5 stars for the fact that this place is open late, when you and your friends need grub after drinking, this is the place to drive to...I usually don't get rice dishes at this restaurant, got it once and it was descent. Cheap cuts of meat with rice, you really can't expect much for $10 dollars or less. The real winners at this place are the Pho and Bun dishes. Good simple noodles with veggies, meat and season to your taste. What more can you ask for? It is the very nature of cheap, good, sidewalk food. Egg rolls and spring rolls are well made here and serve as good appetizers to start out a meal, if you even have to wait that long. Usually the wait time for this restaurant is not that long, they try to get you in and out very quickly. Cheap, Great taste, Open Late. I am sold.

I've been going to Thanh My for years. They have some the sweetest waiters here that have been there forever (which is why I gave them an extra star). It feels very homely. I love their hu tieu, canh chua (sweet and sour soup), ca kho to (catfish in claypot). Good authentic Vietnamese food that is very reasonably priced.

They have the worst Com Tay Cam Rice Clay Pod that i have ever had my entire life. Everything was dried up and the bottom was charcoal black. It looked like they put it onto the hot stove all day long waiting for the next unfortunate customer to order.

Me and the Territory hitched a rickshaw down south to get food from the mother. And well "meh" is right. Cheap food but probably because it was small portions. Tasty on the first bite but then it was nuoc mam aka fish sauce overload in the pho. Still better then South Bay but I expected more being in Nammer town. Two stars for ambiance, that guy sitting behind us saying "du ma" every other word made me feel at home.

Everytime I go here I get the Bo Tai chanh. The portion for 2 or 3 is plenty depending how many you got in your party. Service is ok. It's one of the main stop when I come to OC. Price is reasonable.

Although the reviews are mixed, the fact that this place has been open for over 20 years made it worth the trip! I live in Costa Mesa, but I just took Brookhurst all the way up to Bolsa, and even though I drove past five or six full-looking Vietnamese restaurants at 12:30 am (not to mention a delicious Alerto's), I was pleased when I arrived at Thanh My, 8.5 miles from home. The restaurant has two sides. It seems as if the side where the window faces the street, they seat all their Vietnamese patrons, while me and my boyfriend (as well as two other couples who shared nothing in common with us except for being non-Vietnamese) were seated on the other side of the restaurant that faces the parking lot. It was like they were racially profiling their customers-- wouldn't want people driving by to see whitey in the window! (That's bad or business!) haha, we passed it off with a laugh, 'cause we were hungry, and I guess felt a little more confortable with our own "kind." I ordered #46 com bo luc lac shaken beef and my boyfriend ordered #40 bun - bbq pork and egg rolls with vermicelli. My shaken beef was incredibly tender and perfectly cooked. It was really well-marinated and made even the onions underneath it taste good. The rice was served almost boiling hot though! My boyfriend's bun was also really great, and they did us the favor of making it without veggies, which I know a lot of places in Little Saigon won't do. The pork wasn't fatty and the eggrolls weren't double fried. Service was fast, everything came to table within five minutes of ordering, and my only complaint is that the portions seemed a little small compared to other Vietnamese places I've been to. Our total was $15.10. We'll definitely be back here next time we're craving something other than breakfast or fast food late at night!

Thanh My opens late so it's one of those after the club spots to get your grub on. I've only tried the BUN BO HUE and HU TIEU special. The BBH is not baddd but the Hu Tieu was baddd. For some reason, it was good the first time i had it..they must have changed up the recipe in the meat sauce. I also tried the Seafood hotpot, which is soo good btw! my friend got it togo and we ate it at her house and it was delish! I'm sure there was msg up the ying yang but it was soo good!

I love this place! It is my favorite PHO place outside of Vietnam. 2 bowls of pho and an order of fried egg rolls are under $20. they give you lots of veggies. some places skimp on that. the broth is tasty and not greasy like some places. they give you a good amount of meat. the meat isn't cheap or super fatty. the food is always steaming hot and it's open LATE. i'll roll in between 12am and 2am-- the place would be packed. They try to take your order as quickly as possible.

My boyfriend and I do not dine here anymore, we only take out. We regularly get chicken egg noodle soup. It's very delicious topped with chinese celery and bean sprouts and sprinkled with fried onions. A hint of lime wedge and some hot chili finishes this delicious soup. I cannot say positive things about the staff since Vietnamese people in this area are known to be rude. My boyfriend paid with a credit card on an order less than the minimum ($10 or $15, I forget) and the lady at the counter got so upset she threw a pen at him to sign the credit card slip. We only ordered only one soup to-go. If they wanted cash then they could have simply asked. I am Vietnamese and I am sometimes ashamed of how rude Vietnamese people can be. You will not be treated rudely at a Japanese restaurant. To sum it up, the chicken egg noodle is good, service sucks. One good thing about this place is it's open 24 hours. I guess it's good to satisfy your hunger after a concert.

I tried this restaurant, guys, and I don't know what exactly you like about it. Honestly. I ordered the fried chicken- it was dry (but otherwise with lots of fat under the skin) the rice was cold and overcooked. Terrible. My date had the Pho Ap Chao with egg rolls, which tasted like purchased at Vons and warmed up in a microwave; the pork was hard, dry, tasted like prepared yesterday and warmed up- and was marinated in a weird way. The "fresh" coconut juice tasted very strange... Come oon. We are regular visitors of Pho restaurants- if you, the other Yelpers, like this place the most, it makes me very worried. How can I trust your tastes in the future, when I'm seeking objective recommendations??? There's got to be some kind of misunderstanding...

If you're in the mood for Viet cuisine, it doesn't get too much better then here. Minus one star, for the perverted staff (kind of an inside joke, but semi-true too). Located in a small plaza, right on the edge of Little Saigon. This place is usually jam packed. They used to be open 24 hrs, but I think they have changed their hours. You walk inside, and there usually is a large amount of people waiting to be seated. Right past the front door, is a booth. It sort of resembles a DJ booth at a roller skating rink. You can find the waiting list on here. It's on a clipboard. Feel free to sign your name in. Once you get seated, spend the next 20 mins looking through an encyclopedia of food. It might as well be called "Vietnamese food from A-Z". I spend more time reading the menu, then I do eating. Not really, but it does take forever. Service is prompt. It's almost to a point of them being pushy, which makes sense. The faster you sit, order, and eat...the more money they make. Food arrives fairly quick, and it is CHEAP! Everything here is usually fresh, and not much disappoints. I would stay away from the calamari. The breading tasted like styrofoam. Soups here are suspect too, but everything else is either up to par, or above par. Oh yeah, the back of the menu, has the pictures, but lack descriptions. Memorize the name, and try to find it in the menu. Then you can read the description of it. When you're done, take your ticket stub, and pay at the register, located next to the front door. Be careful driving here. It's basically Vietnam.

This restaurant must be one of the oldest Vietnamese restaurant in the area. I remember going here as a kid. The food is very traditional and decent. I have had a variety of their dishes and the food is always pretty solid. It is not about the ambiance or the presentation of the food. The food is good and consistent.

3.5 stars. I've eaten at this place many times before, but finally decided to review it today after my dinner visit. Usually me and the bf come here to eat quick eats like pho, stir fried noodles, egg rolls, etc. We usually don't come here unless it's like after 10pm. It's always been a good reliable place for a late night meal. BUT! Today I went here with my parents for a regular dinner-sort-of meal, and it was actually very good. We had one of those set meals for 3 - and ordered, canh chua ca (sweet and sour soup with fish), bo tai chanh (beef with lime), ca kho (broiled catfish) and vit xao (sauteed duck). Canh chua was really tasty. Bo tai chanh - my father says that traditionally, its supposed to be with raw beef and the acid in the lime juice is supposed to cook the beef, but here the beef was sauteed lightly and lime was on the side. I guess they don't wanna get sued by THE MAN. Anyway, ca kho was good. Vit xao was the only dish not parent-approved. Also, total was only $30 for all those dishes and rice. NICE!

I've been going to this place for years with my family. Usually, for us, when we find something we like, we generally stick to it. One thing we always get is "nghieu hap" (steamed clams). It's served in a big bowl with lime-scented clam broth with chopped garlic, which is also tasty. It comes with a small bowl of lime and pepper, but my family dips the clam in nuoc mam, or fish sauce. One can either serve two to four people. It's usually a good starter and I believe it costs around ten dollars or so. The next thing we often order is "nai nuong xa" (grilled venison with lemongrass). The meat is tender and it's served with a plate of leafy vegetables and mam nem, a different kind of sauce that may be an acquired taste. Rice paper and a bowl of hot water is provided to make spring rolls, but the meat itself can be eaten on it's own as well. One serving serves two hungry people, or three average stomachs for $14.95. You can also select to have grilled beef instead for $9.95, but I find the beef to be less tender. Oh, and if you ever get the dessert "che sam bo luong"...be aware that the dates aren't the typical small red ones, but more of the strong herbal brown dates. Not particularly to my liking. I occasionally get the "pho ap chao" which is a stir fried combination of vegetables, meat, and seafood on a bed of crispy thick pho noodles. I personally think it's good and it's always a nice dish if you want something with a bunch of veggies. Other than that, it's opened past midnight so if you want something other than Pho Thanh on Bolsa late at night, it's the place to go.

The Look and Feel of the Restaurant Upon entering, you will see the restaurant is split into two parts. To the right, there is a large area with many tables lined up against the wall and is kind of considered the "back" of the restaurant as it is where the restrooms are located. To the left is a smaller area. During the daytime, this place has a lot of natural light coming in as the clear windows wrap around the restaurant. There's also a large mirror on the left side of the restaurant that reflects even more light and gives that space a much roomier feel. I recommend sitting on the left side facing the mirror so you can see how good you look while eating their food. The place is clean for the most part. The people who go there are dressed casually and the servers all wear the same kind of "uniform." This place is in like a middle ground between cheap eats and pricey eats (as far as Vietnamese restaurants go). I also like that they are open late so fatties like me can dine here whenever we're lonely at night. The Service When you enter, you will be seated almost immediately. I haven't encountered a time where I actually had to wait around to be seated. The restaurant itself is fairly large and there are many tables. Even if you have to wait, I can't imagine having to wait more than 5 minutes. As I said earlier, the servers all wear a casual type of uniform (think polo shirt tucked into jeans). The staff here seems friendly. The old man who owns this place is usually at the cash register and monitoring the activity in the restaurant. For a Vietnamese restaurant, the service is good- that is to say, you actually do get service. This isn't to say that they will check on you every now and then (what Vietnamese restaurant actually does this?) but that it's easy to flag someone down. Your food will come out in a decent amount of time. It usually takes around 5-10 minutes for your food to come out, depending on what you order. Whatever is the easiest dish to make will come out first. So it does kind of suck when everyone has their food except for you. But that's the way of Vietnamese restaurants and that's what you get for ordering the most complicated dish. Learn from this, young Padawan. Ordering Dishes start at $5 so the place isn't expensive. I would recommend ordering at least an order of egg rolls. The rice paper or oil they use make them very crispy and delicious. The rice paper isn't the smooth kind (it's not like lumpia). It's unlike most of the egg rolls that other restaurants have. They are very meaty and big. If you like beef, I would also recommend ordering the Com Bo Luc Lac (rice with cut up beef steak pieces). The beef is very tender, soft, and very juicy. Definitely give it a try. Conclusion This is a good place to come. The staff is friendly, the food is very good, the prices are decent, and it's open late. Like Nike used to say, just do it.

Damn, Thanh my is getting taken over by yelpers and getting less hole in the wall-esque. My visit last week suprised me with nicer bowls, new furniture and a credit card machine! While the prices were up from previous visits, the food quality still great, and its open late, so yes still a fan! they started charging 25 cents for hot tea though.

Great Pho, really tasty broth; best yet. Noodles were also very appetizing. Only slight downfall we found, just a lil too much mint in the spring rolls.

Wow. I do not claim to be any sort of expert of Vietnamese food, but I know a good bowl of pho since it's one of my favorite foods. And Thanh My serves a solid bowl of pho, maybe the 2nd best I've ever had! I'm very rarely in OC, but I was in the area visiting friends. Naturally, I couldn't not stop in Westminster for some pho-loving goodness. We were sent to Thanh My partly because it was "clean," which worried me. Does it really matter if it's clean? No. My eating partner is a bit of clean freak, I thought it important to humor her. Nonetheless, I was thoroughly impressed with Thanh My! While the service was quick, I had some quibbles.. I asked for extra bean sprouts that never came. Most of the food came out almost right after we ordered (which obviously means they had it pre-made), while my bowl of pho took forever to arrive. While the restaurant was sparkly, the spoons were sticky and ick. They never actually brought our check to us. I don't know what I'm even bitching for, because the FOOD WAS BOMB. We had three classic dishes: cha gio, bbq pork chops over broken rice, and pho dac biet. Everything was perfect and DELICIOUS, altho I didn't actually eat any of the rice. Maybe it's all the time spent in West LA where good Vietnamese food is impossible to find, but shit, I enjoyed myself. My current go-to Viet spot in Westminster until somebody directs me elsewhere. (Edit: I should do more research, cuz I've never really eaten in Westminster.. OC Viets, tell me where to eat!) It's also open late apparently, which is always a plus in my book!

I really wanted to try Pho 79 based on reviews so drove down to garden grove only to find that they close by 3 on Wednesdays dammit. So I drove around the corner to Pho Kimmy (next best reviewed) and they were closed too (double dammit). So I ended up here with the wife. Open 24 hours is a plus and they had a sign saying 50% Pho Ga which is what the wifey orders so yea! We ordered the egg rolls which was pretty good but a bit pricey for getting only 4 for $5. I ordered the Dac Biet and it came the broth was a little fatty but the meat was excellent and very tender. My wife also enjoyed her Pho Ga. The service here is very much lacking in every aspect. The waitress who took our order first started to speak to us in Vietnamese but we just stared at her with the sorry I'm not Vietnamese look. But I guess she assumed we were and gave her little eye roll that we didn't know the language. I'm Filipino and don't remotely look Vietnamese...oh well. Also my pet peeve that my $0.50 tap water was never refilled pissed me off.

It's been awhile since I've been here! As MIchelle N. pointed out, Thanh My is the designated go-to spot for some late night, post-drinkin' Little Saigon grub. I've always been a fan of their bo luc lac or shaken beef, it's consistently tender and "vua an" or well-seasoned. So today, after catching a movie with my mom, we decided we wanted com phan, or traditional family-style rice meals that typically consist of a soup and a few meat or vegetable dishes. After driving around aimlessly (no to My Nguyen, our ol' standby since the quality has gone downhill and no to Cali Restaurant after my mom saw the 40% off sign) we gave up and settled for Thanh My. We ordered the com phan for two, opting for the canh chua or hot and sour soup; ca kho to or caramelized catfish in a claypot; ga hap or steamed chicken; bo xa lach or beef salad. All that with a pot of steamed rice for $14. My parents, like most Vietnamese parents, are extremely difficult to please when it comes to eating out. Nothing is good enough. So I was surprised when my mom's eyes widened with a bite of the beef salad and she said, "An duoc lam." It's good to eat! The thin slices of beef were juicy with flavor. Every dish came out rather quickly and I'm glad the rice was white and fluffy, not the yellow or stale-looking rice that we've gotten at My Nguyen before. The steamed chicken consisted of a few scattered pieces of mostly cut up dark meat. I had to yank off the fatty skin to get to the morsels of actual meat and dip it into the mam gung or ginger fish sauce (a must with steamed chicken), which was actually really good and not at all sugary sweet the way 95 percent of Vietnamese restaurants tend to make the dipping sauce. The ca kho to or caramelized catfish, while pretty tasty, was a little on the sweet side and could have been more savory -- the sauce was a smidgen too watery, too. The canh chua or hot and sour soup looked delicious when it came out, especially with the dollop of deep-fried scallions. I was disappointed that there was no okra or bac ha, the stalky spongy vegetable -- two ingredients that should always be in canh chua. The broth was OK, a bit sweet, but that's typical of Southern Vietnamese food compared to Northern Vietnamese, which is usually more savory. Overall, 3.5 stars at best but I had a fun time listening to my mom tell me she remembered taking me as a baby to Thanh My when it opened nearly three decades ago as one of the first Vietnamese restaurants in Little Saigon's very first strip plaza. That alone earns Thanh My some props. And oh, don't ever order the che dessert here!! The last time I made that mistake, my dining companions wailed to me, "Why are you making us eat unflushed toilet?" Yeah, sorry for the gross visual, I'm still perturbed by that description, too.

Man i go here waaaay to often. Its my go to place for a quick vietnamese meal. Especially late at night since they are open till around 3 i think. Very often they have come through after a all night drinking event. The waiters are all old guys who are nice and funny as hell, at least i think so. The food is pretty damn good too. Even my vietnamese friends said the food here is pretty legit. The only down side is if you want something specific done(no tomatoes, etc.) its hard for someone who isn't a native vietnamese speaker to get the idea across. But other than that i really enjoy going to this place.

I heard this place open as early as in the 80's cause my dad used to come here haha. Well I went here today with my buddy after we came back from the beach. He ordered a pho dac biet with soda lemonade while I ordered a com tam bi cha bo nuong (I think that what I order) with a che ba mau. Food was a-ok taste pretty good but I rather have pho. Service was pretty okay they give us the wrong thing LOL it was for the table next to us also the owner kinda rushed me on what I was ordering so I just blah ordered w.e. haha but its a good place to go at night if your just having craving also good for family.

This restaurant is good for late night eating! The food is not spectacular, but will satisfy whatever you are craving because they have a little bit of everything on the menu. You can get individual dishes like pho, but you can also order dishes to eat family style. The family style dishes remind me of a home cooked Vietnamese dinner at home, except not as good as your mom makes of course, but will do when you're a long ways from home.

Very solid place, with Pho that is always very good, and a number of other good dishes as well. It is well-run and has pretty good service, too, kind of a rarity in these parts. But don't be a fool! Have you ever eaten at a vietnamese restaurant before? If not, you will need to adjust. The service is quick but not fawning, They are not going to be doting all over you. You might have to ask for something twiceThe food comes out fast not because it it all pre-made, but because the components are all ready to assemble and they are put together quickly. and they DON"T BRING THE CHECK OUT TO YOU AT VIETNAMESE RESTAURANTS unless it is a place that caters to mostly outsiders, so don't expect it. The noodle dishes are great, especially the bun noodles. The pork is done just right, and the other meats are very good as well, they don't serve the gristle and fat that some lesser places try to get away with. I haven't tried the fish myself, but I have observed it on other tables, and heard from friends that it is great. They have a lot of variety here and a well-deserved following. The Pho Tai Chin is a good item to start with.

The best of Westminster! Every dish here is excellent and the menu is extensive AND informative (with photos on the back 6 pages corresponding to the dish numbers on the first 10). I recommend the seafood pho (eat the quail eggs whole!) with lots of "rooster sauce." Everyone with me ordered something different and everyone was pleased with the results - perfectly cooked rice, wonderfully seasoned meat. The service was quick and they accept credit cards - a rareity in Little Saigon. Happy noodling.

I looove their clam soup. Apparently that's their signature dish and I love it! I can't rate on much else since this is the only thing I buy. I've tasted other peoples dishes and they taste like it should, but please tell me if you can find another place that has this dish...esp up in Alhambra please!

If you want good Vietnamese, this is the only place I recommend. I generally make the trip every couple of months since I live in South Orange County, but always worth it. The food is always good. It might be your typical Vietnamese food, but you cannot get curry goat with a baguette just anywhere.

This is another popular joint in the little Saigon area. It's food, its vietnamese, its good, but nothing special. It is open pretty late though, so that means it gets to go into my late night eats list! That's about the only exciting part for me about this restaurant.

I love this place, it's my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Orange County. The Pho Ap Chao is the best (Crispy thick rice noodles). Service is sort of hit or miss, but it's acceptable. Open super late, so after a night out, hit it up!

This was the first time I came to this spot in Westminster and I was wow struck by all the malls surrounding this restaurant, blown away is more accurate. They boasted various restaurants (Fantastic!). The mall next door to the East side looked interesting and the layout kind of reminded me of malls in chinatown in down town LA albeit everything here was white and new looking (I stored this location in the back of my head, and I'm planning to spend time at the mall looking for Pho in the near future). The mall just screams prosperity or something like that, amazing (up to now I've only seem well used or run down strip malls in Westminster area, I guess this place is jumping after all). Focus on the food, yup, and the Pho? Unfortunately it wasn't that memorable. The noodles were firm and chewy (Good). The first sips of the soup was excellent, but one third way through the soup it started to taste monotonous (Not so good) and I had to add some Hoisin Sauce which broke up the monotony somewhat but still I felt as if something was lacking. Don't get me wrong, I liked the Pho a lot, just that I was expecting more from the reviews I've read. I couldn't get that good beef stock flavor satisfaction and the lingering nice aftertaste that comes with it. But their extensive menu (All of the items sounded good) makes me want to go back again if I'm near by to try other items.

I was with 2 others, and their food came out and by the time they finished my plate arrives. They don't even say Sorry. The tomato and salad tasted like dish washing soap, i'm not sure if that normal, maybe it was a bad day for them with the worker on strike in the back, but I would still eat here again, just wish they would have said sorry...

Thanh My is a great place to get a variety of Vietnamese dishes, from Pho, Hu Tieu, Bo 7 Mon, and many others in a 10 page menu, but they specialize in family style combinations for groups up to 8 people. It is open late and usually bustling. However, we went a la carte with Bo Tai Chanh (Like a dry Pho Tai without the soup and noodles, with lime, and dipped into a fish sauce), Ca Chien (grilled talapia fish), Beef with Bok Choy, and starting with Canh Chua (sour soup with shrimp and pineapple for sweet). Add a Heineken ($2.50) and a glass of wine, and it all came to $34. Service was so-so, ambiance is late night after partying eatery type, but good tasty food.

since 1 star is the lowest i could rate, i have to go for it super disappointed at the 2nd time when i came here. 1st time....fine! the second time...... i was embarrassed in front of my other nationality friends..... they treat us like SH*T! seriously! disrespectful! there were 8 of us! 5 ordered a combo for 5, the rest 3 of us just ordered separately like a pho for each. they brought out 5 small bowls for rice (the combo's) and 1 big bowl of rice. later, the bill came out wayyy to much than we estimated! i checked it again and asked them how they came out like that. they charged 8 bowls of rice because they said they didnt know who on the table ate rice or not so they charged all of us!?! seriously??????? they gave 5 small bowls for rice ? duhhhhhh what the hell is that KIND OF LOGIC called? which pissed me off is that the manager turned back and told his employee " see? they just ordered a couple of bucks and now they complain for some little bowls of rice?" now that ....I did not give the tip! guys! what do you think? urgggggggggggggggggggggggggggg I want everyone here from now on to check their bills carefully when eating at this restaurant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! please! i am still angry ! seriously

Thanh My is my personal reference standard for how good a Vietnamese restaurant can get. I keep looking for Vietnamese food this good up in the Bay Area, where I live, and I haven't found it yet. Whenever I have to go to a trade show in Anaheim, I'll take a flock of people with me 15 minutes south to Little Saigon for a culinary field trip. We tell them to cook anything they want. Even squeemish non-foodies are floored at how good the food is here. You can find some very exotic items on Thanh My's menu, like boneless duck web salad, spicy goat curry, venison stew. They manage to make dishes hum with flavor, full of fresh green herbs, never too greasy, and even the most exotic ingredients serve a balancing act that makes perfect sense in texture and flavor. I took a Texas native to Thanh My, who only eats beef, so we ordered the marinated grilled beef cubes. He actually told me it was one of the best steaks he had ever tasted. The two-inch cubes of meat were tender but lean, almost raw in the middle with a dark sweet char on the outside. A stack of aromatic greens and lettuce offered fresh accompaniment, with a light broth on the side, scented (I think) with kaffir lime, 5-spice and fresh onions. Whew. The spicy goat curry has a rich but not overly sweet coconut broth, a tingling film of red pepper oil atop it, ginger and maybe galangal, chunks of eggplant and sweet potato, onions and five-spice flavors blended in. The goat meat isn't too gamey, but has a natural strong flavor and slight sweetness that offsets the intense background flavors. This is one of my personal favorite dishes here. When I mentioned to a Vietnamese acquaintance in the Bay Area that Thanh My had a section on their menu with boar, goat and venison, she explained that those items tend to appear in Vietnam more often as "bar food", typically aimed at the male clientele. She was rather surprised they would show up in a California restaurant. Forget the overpriced fru-fru French-Vietnamese fusion restaurants that keep popping up lately, unless you care more about decor than authentic flavor. The food at Thanh My surpasses them easily, and it's very affordable. I keep hoping I can find places that come close to Thanh My, a bit closer to home; but until then I'll keep making the trek down to Westminster whenever I can. ( flavornotes.com )

I've had better Vietnamese food, but no other place is open this late during party days. the menu is quite extensive if you come before 11, but if you plan on coming before 11 anyway, there are other vietnamese joints i'd recommend. if otherwise, you'll find that the menu has shrunken the way my penis does when i see paris hilton on TV. there are significantly less items to choose from and most of the good plates are omitted! however, it is open really late (til 4 am i believe) and the com chien bo luc lac (fried rice with tenderloin beef) is pretty good.

Great bowl of Pho Dac Biet - lots of noodles, lots of meat & fresh veggies - can't be beat. The egg rolls are crispy & hot. The boyfriend had the Thanh My special fried rice and as always WOW!! good. The dish is a mixture of noodles and rice in a hot pot. The service - meh - it's an Asian place - lacking. The food is worth coming back here.

BEST egg rolls in town, bar none! I can't recommend anything else since the eggrolls are so awesome, I never get anything else, lol. These eggrolls are wrapped with rice paper instead of just the typical "wonton" style wrappers which I think makes all the difference. The nuoc mam fish sauce is made well, lettuce always looks and smells fresh. I'm gettin hungry just thinking about it! Go get your egg rolls on!

Been here a couple occasions in the past years. My friend was craving pho so we decided to hit the place up. He ordered pho with pork spring rolls and I ordered bun bo hue since my youth had told me about that dish. My meal was okay. Not sure how authentic or good it was. It was the first time I ever ordered that dish so I wanted to check it out before I go to Bun Bo Hue So 1 to compare. Our soda chanh was okay, I think Da Lat makes it the best.

This is one of my favorite late night restrauants on Bolsa. I come here when I feel like eating asian food in the middle of the night since this place closes at 3am. I have eaten what I could, as a vegetarian, at this place. When I'm sick, I eat the chao (porriage) or the catfish soup with a cup of hot tea, or on a regular basis, I like to eat the stir fried veggies and tofu with rice, vegetarian fried rice, springrolls with logan and juice, orange juice or the durian smoothie. YUMMMM.. oh, but don't drink the coffee here.. it tastes watered down. Sometimes it's pretty packed, other times, it's not too bad, but the wait is usually only 5-10 mins.. people eat pretty fast and service is speedy also. The only problem is if you want something after you get your food, good luck getting their attention. Ask for more napkins BEFORE you receive your food.. not while your eating because they tend to ignore those they have already served... a fair tradeoff to those who haven't been served yet but gets their food fast. This place takes credit card, unlike most vietnamese restrauants... YAY!

my tummy is very happy with this place, twice in one weekend. we came from out of town, yet...we always stopped by this town for lunch before heading back to San Jose. our normal route was Brodard on Brookhurst, but they were closed that day...so we drove on down to Bolsa and stopped by Thanh My. the place is packed, as always...they also open pretty late. later on the weekends. the owners are very nice people. the wait staff are all nice and they get what you need promptly. every time i was there, i ordered eggrolls...wrap that up in a leaf of lettuce with herb leaves and some noodles....dip into prepared fish sauce and you're set to go. eat them while they're hot and crunchy. the yummiest eggrolls i've had in a long time. 6 of those and you're set for lunch/dinner. my bf ordered the whole/half deep fried chicken with fried rice. the chicken were krispy & crunchy...the fried rice was perfect...not just some rice messed in ketchup...but real fried rice, with eggs and fried to perfection. haven't had Pho there, but they don't look appealing to me. the bowls are too small. i might try that next time, or i'll just play safe with the eggrolls. kudos to the place for opening late....and they have plenty of parking.

This is the place you take your friends when you want to teach them that Pho is not the only thing on a Vietnamese menu. My mom and I love the 7 course beef prix fixe. It's amazing. You cook beef in a broth, wrap it in some basil and lettuce and you're good to go. I am just way too obsessed with this place. The Sour Fish Soup (has a touch of pineapple) is just delicious. I love the thin slices of garlic and all the cilantro and parsley you want to put on top of your rice. I recc'd going to the sandwich shop in the same strip mall and getting some combination sandwiches for the work week. Thanks so much!

Their food is pretty good for the price! always the same old man waiters. lol they coo! oh yeah one time i got a rice plate of steak with fries and baguette that was pretty good too! but one time i got tricked. on the menu it said like shrimp something soup sounded good but when i got it was like egg soup like they have in the chinese resturants LOL.

Absolutely the Bun Bo Hue & the Ho Tieu (hope I got the spelling right) are fantastic here as are the rice dishes & wonton soup. Most interesting & pretty good also: Curry Venison. Prices very decent too. Super cool factor: Opens late, great alternative to your same-old Denny's. Even more cool: Accepts credit cards. Perfect spot, when I'm cash low. Other places competing nearby haven't caught up w/that concept yet. Found that out the hard way when a gf & I drove around forever to different places only to be turned away. Double sucks cuz we just did nonstop a drive straight from Las Vegas, raving hungry. Only bummer: B/c of such popularity, waiting can be brutal on a demanding stomach esp. weekend nights.
