This place is colorful. Has great food and service. I like the Crabcakes Benedict. Eggs are always made perfectly served with asparagus, hollandaise and my favorite, home fries. Not an overwhelming menu but great options to choose from. They also have home made treats and a good variety of blended coffee's etc. A local favorite.

It's been here for years and has some of the best curb appeal (pun unavoidable) of any cafe I've seen. I don't particularly enjoy the fact they allow dogs outside, but that's only because I've seen three servers trip over leashes while eating here, losing entire plates of food. But that's neither here nor there. I don't make it a habit of mentioning other eating establishments in my reviews, but since another place opened very nearby with very similar menu items and pricing but is open much later, I've since ceased going here. It's cute though and a great piece of Vista History. It's worth at least checking out.

Everybody in the party got lunch, it was delicious. pros: we got there 25 min before they closed and they happily seated us and the three groups behind us providing great service the whole time, the food was priced accordingly, so yummy cons: they close at 2:30!

One of the few things I miss about living in Chicagoland is the plethora of good breakfast joints. For some reason San Diego just has a hard time comparing with the Breakfast/lunch joints that serve a hearty, value packed meal in a that is far superior to the Denny's/Coco's/I-Hops of the world. I'm not much of a breakfast person but when I do crave a little something in the A.M it's usually shared with good company. The Curbside Cafe offers tasty breakfast items that are placed in a comfortable atmosphere that is open, light, and fresh. There is nothing fancy about this place but there is something about it that makes you want to stay and chat with your pals and slowly sip one of their yummy coffee drinks. Servings are generous and most items come with your choice of home potatoes(with grilled onions and seasoned perfectly), hash-browns, toast, or coffee cake. It's located in the older part of Vista. I can see where the parking could get a little crazy on the weekend but it has yet to be our experience. There is seating inside and a nice area outside if that's your thing. In a span of two weeks I have been here three times so that says something(maybe that I'm not much of a cook....). Each time the food has been consistently good and the staff has been equally pleasant. My husband always talks about wanting to come to a place where they eventually know your name. This spot may just be the one.

Very popular with many people I know. Especially for the cinnamon roll. Pets often sit outside. Good comfort food. Not many veg options. The tofu scramble is pretty good. Must remember to ask for the toast dry as you can tell there's been butter spread on it. Nice staff, good coffee selections.

Thank you yelp! I was looking for a place to have a nice Sunday breakfast and yelp sent me to the right place. A cute little cafe in the heart of "Main St." Vista. The food was good, quick and reasonably priced. I am a huge fan of Monte Cristos and I have to admint that I am not a fan of the way they do it here. But if you want deepfried french toasted stuffed with 2 types of meat with cheese then this dish might be for you. Shocked that there was no wait on a Sunday morning. You have to get the cinnamon roll! I was a killer way to start the day.

Pretty good akshully. I had the much talked about Stuffed Croissant this morning and it was better than I would have guessed. Avocado and tomatoes are my two favorite fruits, plus ham never sucks and croissants are the best sandwich wrapper available. I also tried the cinnamon roll which was large and in charge. It's of the pecan variety, and they are nuts. I left very full. Service is pretty standard for a diner/cafe style place, which is to say lacking in excitement; I can't blame them. I can't help but feel like everything on the menu (what I had at the very least) could be 2/3's to half the price. I paid $3 for an iced tea, and the cinnamon roll was $4ish, then my breakfast sandwich was $9+. All said and done, I was out the door for just over $20 with a decent tip. I saw granola w/ fruit on the menu for $8.50. Now I don't know exactly what that entails, but I'm fairly confident it's not worth it. I've got a pretty good feeling that they left their menu off of their website for a reason. I don't eat breakfast out very often, but the price didn't quite add up. I rarely figure in the cost of food in my reviews (both online and in my stomach), but something about this place really made me consider it. That said, I'll be back to try the hash, crab, and I'll have the croissant again for sure.

I really enjoy breakfast here! They have a few vegetarian options including a veggie tofu scramble (very tasty) which is served with two slices of your favorite toast. Portion sizes are fairly large so you'll likely take home goodies unless you have a big appetite. They have mimosas and a variety of coffee drinks and sweet shakes (toffee crunch) for breakfast. It is really nice to sit outside and enjoy the nice breeze and sunshine. There is usually plenty of street parking and a lot across the street that you can park in. it'd. Nice atmosphere but there can be a wait depending on what time you get there. :)

One of my favorite breakfast places. Very fresh food and a number of house specialties. Really good homemade cinnamon rolls. The have homemade corned beef hash which I like but it can be a bit dry sometimes. The owner is usually seen in the restaurant and is usually busy checking on customers and is really on top of the place running well. I like that in a restaurant, gives me a lot of confidence that the place is run well.

Thanks to Sean for his review as my fiancee and I might never have come across this place had he not shone light on this "little gem". We just had a fabulous breakfast at this little cafe, and found the staff not just friendly and attentive, but pleasant and non-obnoxious too which is a wonderful change of pace from the average cafe. These are down-to-earth folks who have a clear commitment to providing a great dining experience to their guests. Now let's talk about the food... For starters, they have high quality espresso beverages available, of which we enjoyed a couple of fine cappuccinos. You never know what you're going to get when you order coffee at a cafe, but this is definitely taken the #2 spot on my list of favorite places for cappuccino in North County. The breakfast food is both familiar and creative, easily visible in the selection of Eggs Benedict derivatives. I opted for the interesting Stuffed Croissant, a healthy-sized croissant sliced in half like a sandwich, with scrambled egg, cheddar cheese, tomato, avocado, and onion, served with southern potatoes which were a highlight of favor in and of themselves. Another interesting note is the fruit bowls that come with some dishes. How many times have I seen fruit bowls around the area that are basically honeydew, cantaloupe, strawberry, and maybe pineapple on occasion? Curbside Cafe understands that this is just not diverse enough to stand out, and so in addition to these common fruits they also provide a broad sampling of tastes including papaya, mango, banana, kiwi, and green grapes. Pricing is on the low-moderate scale, where the total came to around $22 for two, but you may find yourself as I did, giving a well above-average tip as a reward for the great service. On a final note, while the place was jam packed with people at 11am on a Saturday, sitting outside was considerably more peaceful than many other cafes. There were some families, couples, and people with their small dogs sitting at their feet. It definitely felt very laid back, casual, but comfortable. Overall, I highly recommend the Curbside Cafe if you're around the area seeking a great meal, relaxing setting, and truly superb service!

I was pleasantly surprised...I ordered a Monte cristo and it was one if the best I've had. The restaurant has a cool local vibe, the waitress we had that day wasn't too nice but whatever...it's a pretty cool place that's not some corporate chain, which I like.

Love this Place. I think my favs are Eggs Benedict, blueberry pancake, and strawberry waffle!! Servers are nice, and always helpful with substitutions. I love breakfast places so for me to go back often (at least 2-3 times a month) with my hubby and by myself, this place is a keeper.

Catching up on my Yelping this Saturday. Haha. I go to this spot like almost every week with my Dad. Best Breakfast in Vista or Oceanside as far as I'm concerned. I get the Corned Beef Hash or the 2 eggs breakfast. Their fruit cups and chai lattes are really good too. Lunch is okay but on most of their sandwiches they pan fry the bread and I'm not really a huge fan of that.

    (5)
  • Christi P.

Thank you fellow yelpers! Breakfast was great! I had Monte Christo and the Mr. Had the country fried steak and the Mexican mocha. The servings were large and tasty. The people working there are friendly. Our total out the door was $25. We both came home with leftovers. We'll be back!

Not a bad place. One point docked for slow service. I had the stuffed croissant. It's like a cross between breakfast and lunch. The croissant is flaky and delicious. I couldn't finish it but it was soooo delicious. As much as I love avocado, the chunks were a bit overwhelming. I'd recommend them slicing them into smaller bit sized pieces. Also the bottom the croissant could be toasted a bit more in order to hold all the food stuffed inside. The ham was cooked well and I LOVED the fact that they cut their own potatoes for the hash browns. MMM. good. I'd recommend this particular dish for anyone who is looking for an afternoon lunch but wants a little breakfast cuz they skipped it. It was a good thing we had one of those entertainment book coupons for $8 bucks off. The place is a bit on the pricey side but good enough to try it out once. I will say, had I had my friend's swordfish burger... I wouldn't be giving it the rating I gave it now. And that's not a good thing.

I've been coming here for as long as I can remember. I love almost everything on their menu! For breakfast the cinnamon roll, fruit, Eggs Benedict, or waffles are all good choices. At lunch I love their sandwiches, salads, and soups. The sweet potato fries are delicious and I usually ask if I can get a half and half order of both regular and sweet potato fries. The staff is always the same and they're all very nice. Even when it's crowded the service is fast and the food always comes promptly. I never get tired of eating at Curbside.

  • Holly G.

Yummy comfort food. Everything looked good on the menu. The place was packed with all types of people so I could see it was a real popular place. The service was super friendly. Portions were huge. The said the owner used to be a top chef at Four Seasons or some fancy hotel that wanted to get away from the rat race and have a simple breakfast lunch place. Urban legend or not, you could really taste the quality in the food. This place really stands out above other breakfast places.

Just what I was looking for... a local breakfast spot with good food. InSanEly good coffee cake, wow the real deal! Loved the fresh fruit option and service was great. Kept the coffee coming. Definetely will be back! Only complaint............ seating options suck, no booths and uncomfortable chairs(minor details, tho).

My family and I have been going to this quaint little cafe for years now. They are located right next to the Avo Theatre on Main Street in Vista. The decor is bright and cheery and the place is nice and clean. The waitresses are very friendly and personable, service is quick but not rushed. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. I've never had a bad meal here, the food is totally awesome. Portions are huge and the prices are reasonable for how much food you get. My family and I are definite repeat customers (obviously...lol).

Had the eggs benedict and chicken bendecict and both were delicious. Didn't even have a long wait time for a sunday at 11am, Great place for breakfast.

Very friendly service, generous portions, home cooked food without the heavy greasiness of most cafes. Fruit side dish is a trat - not just melons for a change.

Looking for a new breakfast place today and came across curbside cafe. Our waitress was very friendly, but the food just average. I had the country fried steak n eggs and asked for extra crispy hash browns. The gravy on the steak was delicious, but the hash browns were of what i would consider average crispiness so a bit disappointing. Wife had the crab cake benedict, which was also average. The hollandaise was nice, but the flavors just didnt come together as well as say the crab cake benedict at hash house in hill crest (phenomenol). All in all, average food, not a bad price, great location in downtown vista. Would i come again, probably not but it was worth a shot.

Nice little local place. Ordered the french toast. The slices were thin and the ends of the loaf. My fiancé ordered the turkey and bacon wrap and thought the dish was satisfying. I do have to admit, I ate all of his fries. Not a place I'd rush back to or even stroll back to.

We were searching for a brunch spot nearby in Vista and came across awesome reviews for Curbside Cafe. It seems like many locals frequent the cafe due to the spacious outdoor seating and pet friendly vibe. We love French toast and always try to sample at various cafes. The homemade maple syrup and bacon was tasty but the accompaniment of the lack luster toast made the dish just OK. The service was a bit slow but we arrived shortly before closing (the servers were doing multiple closing duties) but overall very friendly and polite. We may need to return and try the egg Benedict specials.

  • Chelsea L.

I found this place on yelp and I was not dissapointed. I got the eggs benedict which was delicious but what impressed me was when i ordered a side of fruit instead of hash browns, instead of getting the usual honeydew and cantaloupe, i got a much more exotic blend of fruit, there was kiwi, raspberry, watermelon, grapes to name a few. The service was speedy and friendly. Perfect breakfast in vista.

I've been coming here a long time and often. First of all, the service is generally VERY good and the ladies are VERY nice, although Diane can get a bit snarky at times. The food is really good, good value and consistent, but John....what's the deal with the silverware??? Plastic forks and knives would work better! I have bent so many forks eating pancakes, it's not funny! I'm going to start bringing my own! I would have given 5 stars, but silverware and Diane (sometimes) dropped my rating.

This is a wonderful little cafe, nestled in the heart of historic downtown Vista. They must have the best breakfast on the planet, as well as one of the most versatile. It allows vegan, vegetarian and omnivore to enjoy breakfast. Their tofu scramble is excellent and their cinnamon rolls are to die for and their omelets can't be beat anywhere. As an occasional visitor to this area, I always look forward to my visit at Curbside with my family. Strongly recommended.

I'm sadden to give Curbside Cafe a one star. But recently the last two times I have gone to Curbside I have not eaten any of the food. The reason the waitresses, the first time I waited almost 20 minutes for my coffee I ordered to be served then waited another 10 minutes until the waitress came back to take my order. So I thought the waitresses were just having a off day, the next time I went to Curbside I took my father there for breakfast. We are seated rather quickly and the waitress takes are drink orders and brings the coffee within a few seconds. We then are waiting about 5 minutes for them to take our food order and they are starting to get busy. Our waitress then starts to help a couple people next to us who sat down 5 minutes after, brings there drinks and takes there order and etc. We think nothing of it, then 5 minutes later the exact same thing happens. We decide to wait another 5 minutes and nothing, no order taken while the first people next to use got there food. That's when we decided to leave AGAIN!!! I love the food and have been here plenty of times, but recently the waitresses just seem not to be all there and others are just plain rude. Hopefully Ill go back one day and I can write a better review.

This is our absolute favorite place for breakfast. My bf and I used to go here weekly, but we've since cut back and probably make it over to CC at least once a month. The staff is super friendly and some of the waitresses know what we're ordering before we even sit down. The best thing on the breakfast menu is the Smoked Salmon Benedict OMG I drool just thinking of that dish. The portions here are also very generous and this may sound silly, but I feel like the food is made with love :) . Price range is about $7-11 for breakfast and worth every cent.

I went here for the first time today and loved it! We went for breakfast, and although they were busy, we were immediately greeted and sat. The staff was super friendly. The food came out quickly. I got a stuffed croissant.. basically a croissant sandwich with scrambled eggs, diced ham, avocado, and cheese. It was fantastic and so were the homestyle potatoes!! The blueberry muffin was also scrumptious. My husband got a 3 sausage sandwich, and he said it was OK.. but he's so that means it was pretty good. It was about $10 for each of us.. a little pricey but the portions were really large and it was so good I wanted to finish every bite but it was too much.. and I have a big appetite. The waitress took care of the bill quickly and asked us twice if everything was OK. I have no complaints, and will be going back! Oh yeah I'm a huge Scrubs fan, so seeing an autographed picture of the manager and Dr. Kelso on the wall made me happy haha.

Delicious food! Quick service. A little confusing when we first got there as to do we seat ourselves or is someone going to help us? After standing there for a few mins we got seated and everything from there on was great. Belgian waffles with strawberries and the club sandwhich were delish. We will be returning (:

Like many, who reviewed the Curbside Cafe, I love this place! Especially having breakfast there!! John, the owner, when not too terribly busy running the place, always comes over and visits. Nice to have that home town ambience..... I always have the same thing, somewhat off the menu, scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese and jalapena peppers, hashbrowns and cottage cheese. They always accomodate me, and whenever possible, weather permitting, I simply love to sit outside, and having my breakfast. Friendly customers and servers simply add to the nice experience.....I often chat with another customer, and when I am done with breakfast, it's off to tackle the day, well fed, and happy!! :-) If you are looking for good food, good people, and a nice atmosphere for a casual meal, this is the place! Try it, you'll like it!! :-)

Ate there for breakfast mid-morning. Really busy since it was a holiday. Service was attentive & friendly. Cinnamon roll was fabulous. My eggs, ham & hash browns were excellent. Inside and outside seating.

Probably the best place for Breakfast and Lunch! Mimosa's are great, coffee is the best! If you want to split two separate meals and share with someone, ask them to "Marry the plate and they will simply split those two meals so you can have a taste of two meals on one plate. My daughter and I did this with Eggs Benedict and the Croissant Sandwich....we were both extremely happy!! Excellent Service!

Pros: Great Food...Great Service...Great Location...Great Parking...Great Patio Seating Cons: Cheap Plastic Tables that wabble. Thank you Yelp for another great place that I may have never visited without this site !! Edit: 4/17/2010 Still the families favorite breakfast stop.

what a delightyful place. one of the cherished restaurants i found in vista. the service is wonderful and i've never really had an issue with parking. the food itself deserves a 3.5 since there are a few things i would avoid on the menu. anything with the hollindaise sauce i would not recommend. i tried it twice and both occasions it was disappointing. otherwise the rest is delicious! the prices are reasonable and they have a great variety.

My husband and I go to Curbside almost every weekend for our breakfast date. We've tried just about every breakfast item and every single one is fantastic! The country potatoes are the best I've had anywhere, and I mean anywhere! We've been for lunch once and loved the Sausage Sandwich and the Monte Cristo! Wait staff is friendly and efficient! It's always clean, prompt food and service, and overall a place I highly recommend. Obviously I like it if I go every weekend!! I almost hate to leave such a good review for fear that too many people will go and make it a chore to get a table. Hehe.

Curbside is one of my regular breakfast spots. The food is always good. The portions are not huge but not small. Just enough to not make you feel sick afterward! The staff is super friendly. It seems like it's the same 5 or 6 girls that are always there on Sunday mornings. It's nice to see a place where the employees stick around. They have an espresso machine so you can order something besides drip coffee. The price is right and they have a wide selection for breakfast. Their hollandaise sauce is the best I've ever had and the gravy for the chicken fried stake is unlike any I've ever tasted. So good. They get pretty full on the weekends but the wait is worth it. I've never had to wait more than five minutes. The inside is kind of small but they have big tables outside, which is perfect when the weather is nice.

Wonderful Restaurant...clean, good service, great food, and dog friendly too!! The big bird with mozzarella cheese melted in my mouth, and the sandwich was huge ( took half home). The hot roast beef sandwich was also a hit ...but, the cinnamon roll lived up to all the rave reviews...will definitely come here again when we are in vista.

All the five star reviews are warranted, however I reserve mine for blow my socks off good. Not that Curbside isn't good because it is. They have a wide range of breakfast and lunch items which haven't received any complaints from people I go with. The service is usually good with friendly and attentive waitresses during busy times the service does lack a bit. I've had to ask for a refill twice on water the last time I went. My go to item in the menu is there spinach salad, which is by far the best spinach salad I've ever had. The bacon bits are thick and crispy and their honey mustard dressing is damn good. A bit pricey at almost $9 but worth it.

We love Curbside for the occasions that we go out for breakfast or a casual lunch. Some friends of ours turned us on to CC and we can never thank them enough. Everything has always been delicious, the service is great, and we love being able to eat outside on the sidewalk. Wonderful atmosphere and prices are reasonable. The fruit is always superb!!!

This unsung little gem is perhaps one of the best cafes in North County. It's tucked away on Vista's Main St., next to the Avo theater, so it's definitely a locals hangout. (Of course, Vista isn't quite known for its tourism.) You'll find John, the owner and occasional chef, working here every single day, along with a staff of very friendly and attentive waitresses. Come hungry. The food is excellent and comes in slightly-smaller-than-Paul-Bunyan-sized portions, which makes it a great (and frequently busy) Sunday brunch spot. There are some things here you won't find on the menu of a normal cafe, like the tofu scramble (artichokes, broccoli, and lots of veggies) which, along with the omelettes and many of the sandwiches, are delicious. Breakfast and lunch only (they close at 2PM after the lunchtime rush). The walls of the cafe often feature the paintings of a local artist, usually on a monthly rotation. But I recommend sitting outside at one of the sidewalk tables and enjoying the sun.

My neighbor told me about this place, what a little gem for Vista, just moved here so getting used to whats around, this one is a keeper, service was good, enjoyed the food. My daughter loved the fruit combo. We will be back!

Two words: Tuna Melt. One of my favorite meals of all time. Curbside is a dependable place to go for a meal. They are only open until around 3PM, so their menu is only breakfast and lunch items. Everything is around $10/$11, which is worth it for the quality and portions of the food. They have some intresting selections on the menu, stuff like swordfish sandwiches and crab cake benedicts. I have had a few of their breakfasts (I prefer Sunrise Cafe) and some of their other sandwiches, but the tuna melt is the reason I come here.

  • Tom H.

The best breakfast in North County, hands down. The omelettes are enormous and bursting with enthusiasm. The cinammon rolls are like a party in your mouth. The bratwurst and eggs are as good as anything I ate in Berlin. The outdoor sidewalk seating is the ideal place for kids, dogs and grandparents alike to relax and enjoy a sleepy Sunday morning in "America's Climatological Wonderland." After a meal at Curbside I start to feel good about my little town in ways I haven't since my childhood. To paraphrase the great Allen Ginsberg: Vista, I could almost love you again.

  • A W.

This place is great. They have outdoor seating where you can bring your dog, and their homestyle potatoes are amazing. Half the time I love the rest of my meal and the other half of the time, it's ok but not great. I recommend the turkey omelette (sub spinach for brocolli) and tofu scramble (note, no eggs in it). My husband loves the eggs, sausage, and hashbrowns.

This review is more for rating the Cinnamon Roll then the restaurant itself. Overall it should get 3 stars as the food was decent. I've had better, but I've had worse. However...we went there for one reason... Cinnamon Rolls! After looking up the reviews and going to their website which boasts "Vista's #1 Cinnamon Roll" we decided this is the place we were going. I ended up getting Corned Beef Hash because the waitress said it was fresh and homemade and I love when it's homemade. It was good, different but good. It was tiny chunks of corned beef, mixed with carrots and potatoes. Again, I've had better and worse. My spouse and son stuck with the cinnamon rolls and were sorely disappointed. Now think real quick what comes to mind when you envision a Cinnamon Roll. I picture a soft, warm, ooey gooey pastry filled with cinnamon and sugar, with icing slathered on top dripping down the sides. Well Cubside Cafe does not serve cinnamon rolls. Sweet rolls? Yes, Sticky Buns? Absolutely. But Cinnamon Rolls? No. While their "cinnamon roll" does have a lot of cinnamon in it, it should more aptly be called a Pecan Roll. It's a large, somewhat dry pastry, covered in pecans, with the sticky type glaze you expect from a pecan roll. There is no icing, it is not ooey gooey. The least they should do is note on the menu that there are chopped NUTS all over it. We ate outside and didn't see them beforehand or think to ask. My son, along with many kids hates certain nuts so we spent the first 5min trying to scrape all the nuts off of his, which was difficult because they were chopped. As a Sticky Bun it was good, but when your expecting a cinnamon roll, you might be disappointed. If I was craving a sticky bun, I might go back unless I had the time to drive to Idyllwild where we had the BEST sticky bun, but if I really want a cinnamon roll I'll trek to Cinnabon at the mall. So my thought is I need to figure out how to make cinnamon rolls and open up a shop in Vista to claim the title of "#1 Cinnamon Roll"!

This is your basic coffee shop/diner sort of place. The food and service have been great every time. We've enjoyed the tuna melt, the Reuben, and basic eggs and bacon sorts of breakfasts. You can also eat outside and have your dog with you, and there's free wireless.

This is by far my favorite breakfast/lunch joint and here's why: 1) Great food. Period. I recommend the California sandwich and highly recommend the soup of the day. The owner/chef rotates around 15 different freshly made soups. We've never been disappointed. 2) Friendly service. Most of the girls working there are very friendly and sincerely helpful. 3) Casual, hometown cafe feel. It's a comfortable place the makes you feel welcome. On a nice morning in sunny Vista, you can't go wrong. Be prepared to wait a bit on busy days but they hustle to get everyone seated as soon as possible. Thank you Curbside Cafe for giving Vista something to be proud of besides 99 cent stores on every corner!

I love Curbside Cafe because every time I 've eaten here, the food is perfect....perfectly cooked, perfectly presented and perfect quality. They definitely take pride in each and every dish. It's like you are company and they will serve you only the best from their kitchen. My favorites here are everything I've tried! Breakfast with over-easy eggs and hash browns. The Reuben sandwich. The Club is just so doggone good and so is their salad with the poppin' flavors of their balsamic herb dressing. I will keep going back to this awesome little restaurant.

not the best but its a nice little place in downtown vista, yellow deli is much better but they're closed saturdays & sunday mornings

Cute little cafe, decent service, pretty good food. My main complaint is the prices- $10 for a fairly plain sandwich and fries. I'd definitely go back if the prices were just a few bucks cheaper.
