After being here a second time, I have to bump my review up to five stars. This time I tried a tempeh taco, my dad had a falafel pita, and we shared a milkshake. My expectations were high from the last time, and I was not disappointed at all. There are still so many things on the menu that I want to try, and it sucks that I can't come back more often (seeing as I live on another continent and all). I'm not used to being able to eat so many things from any menu, and it all being delicious (and fairly healthy) is an amazing bonus. Thanks for being fantastic, Nature's Grill. See you again in a year or two!

This place is an almost exact knock off of the Natural Cafe, from the Tahini sauce to the buddah statues and decor right down to the water station. Even their name is similar. At least the font is different. Wow, I just looked around again- Same pine wood seats framed with dark green trim as the Natural Cafe too. Seems like they wanted to start a Natural Cafe but didn't want to pay the franchise fees

Loved this restaurant! Every option was healthy and looked so delicious. I wound up getting the black bean enchiladas and it came with a light salad on the side. The enchilada sauce was wonderful! Inside there was rice and black beans and a bit of cheese, light and still filling! The salad tasted wonderful on the side, and the bean sprouts really complimented the dish. The service was wonderful and fast, it was also extremely affordable for healthy food, which made me very happy. Will definitely return!

Love the chicken stirfry here, and my partner says it's the second-best turkey burger she's had anywhere. This is something we treat ourselves to maybe once every week or two when we want something fresh and don't want to cook. I prefer it to Natural Cafe as I can be a bit picky about meat. Natural Cafe seems to have more gristle. Knocking off a star because they do not have standard soda options, and some of the ones I tried were vile (they do have bottled rootbeer, but that's generally way too sweet for me). Some might find this unimportant, but a beverage I like that goes well with the food is key to my ability to enjoy a meal. So, they've become takeout-only option for us, which is a shame because it'd be a nice place to take guests.

I will be dreaming of this place until my next trip to California! I'm a fitness junkie as well as a dietitian to be and this place hits every spot. I really enjoyed the healthy options and I felt great eating here. The salad was very fresh and tasty. The lemon herb dressing was amazing! Can't wait to eat here again

The portions are ridiculously huge that i think it out weighs the "healthy" part. Most definitely fresh meals but extremely bland. Very courteous staff and wide variety of things vegetarian, vegan and so on to pick from. Not really my cup of tea...everything taste bland? Maybe I'm just looking for the right thing in the wrong place.

I don't know how I found out about this place, but it's amazing! First I was a fan of the East beach salad then tried the yogi special and I fell in love. Tofu has never sounded good to me but tried it and now its the only item I have on the menu. I normally place phone orders and eat at work, but still have yet to eat at the restaurant itself to make a full service review.

This was a great meal! Lots for the price, friendly staff, and a very clean restaurant.

I love this spot... Never had a bad meal here! Granted I mostly always get the same thing because it's so good, but you can't go wrong with anything on their menu

Great vibe, great food at a great price. Will definitely be back next time we're in Ventura.

Cool place 5star for this type of place. It's got a great selection a little something for everyone in the family. Cool old brick building, great amount of seating. Was kinda busy but they handled it well. Not a long wait for the food once you ordered. Definitely would recommend it and will go back for sure.

  • Stephanie R.

I love this place!! Sometimes when you go somewhere health conscious the food can be u flavorful but that's not the case here, everything's delicious! Everything's full of flavor and the veggies are cooked to perfection

  • Josie C.

It has been years since I've been here. So I decided to come back and eat here, but only to be disappointed a little. So there's no lemons by the water thing anymore. No sugar. (You have to ask) I ordered a natural salad and half a sandwich. I got a baby grilled cheese half. Wasn't even a normal loaf of bread. I understand their a healthy place but jeez. My 1/2 salad was way bigger than my 1/2 of a sand which. The lemon herb dressing isn't the same either. Too herby- wasn't enough lemon. It wasn't awful it was just mediocre. Something has definitely changed. But if your looking for a healthier place in ventura natures is the way to go.

We need more options like Nature's Grill 'round here! Offering a variety of healthy protein & veggie meals, it's a wonder why we haven't ventured in sooner. But we're here now for din din, so... wacha got, wacha got??? It's metered parking on the street in front, but there are free parking lots close by and good sized free parking structure behind, that's also very close. Yup! Nothing wrong with a lil calorie burn so, come on! Show off yur best Richard Simmons impression and chant "Farewell to fat!" Hah! Quite a bit of menu options to peruse through, THANKFULLY, counter service is friendly AND patient. We finally settled on a few things which were brought to our table... *VEGGIE STUFFED SPUD: The baked spud's size is hefty and there's an abundance of freshly steamed veggies completely masking its existence. It's all hyped up with their tahini ginger sauce. Filling, flavorful, and minimal cholesterol impact. Just what Wifey wanted. *NATURAL BURGER: Even with it's SOY PATTY, my lil man (11y/o) thought quite highly of this and chomped it up. He's a carnivore through and through, but he couldn't even tell this was WAY different from anything in Carl's Jr. Served with good sized serving BLUE tortilla chips *FALAFEL PITA: I enjoyed this. They make their own falafel here and it had a nice consistency. Wrapped in a whole wheat pita with heirloom tomatoes, sprouts, and shredded carrots, it was a yummy alternative to the ubiquitous hamburger. Oh. And that tahini ginger sauce?!?! DON'T leave home without it! It's a game changer ;) *KID'S MAC & CHEESE: Healthy serving of fresh cheese made for some nice ooey gooey-ness! Good size for the young'ins. Also comes with BLUE tortilla chips. No leftovers here ;) *VERY VERY BERRY SMOOTHIE: A mix of strawberry and blueberry with apple juice that turns out to be this tasty purple hued concoction. Big hit with the young squires. *PEANUT BUTTER SHAKE: I chose the soy ice cream route and I could not sense its presence. Creamy and Thick? Yes. Peanutty taste with peanut bits? Yup. This lactose intolerant Asian was one happy camper! We had a good experience here. Tasty creations with friendly & attentive service make this an easy recommendation. And, just so you know, those homemade rice crispy treats that distract you at the register are perfect :)

Awesome restaurant, with Healthy menu, their Baja burritos is my favorite. The Baja burritos has brown rice, bean, chicken it's just so good and their chips are delicious aswell as their salads. Another dish that I love is their turkey burgers it's so good. I Recomend this place if your like healthy food or if your want some good protein.

  • S.L. Z.

It's okay. The seasoning is good but a little bland. This also looks like a hamburger lol. At first I thought it was the wrong order. This is the kind of place you only go once. Not worth it.

We found this little place when visiting Ventura. What a pleasant surprise! The food was really good and the workers were so nice! I ordered the nachos, and they were awesome (and big)! They also have a nice selection of kid options; my kids were very happy with their food as well. The ambiance is easy and laid back, and the location is prime - right on Main Street. While they have some vegetarian selections, they also serve meat. Don't worry if you aren't a vegetarian. They have a lot to choose from!

  • Carole S.

First time here and no one stepped up to help how it was an order at counter and get your own table service and water type of place. Had to ask as the counter girl just stood behind the counter not moving and definitely not helping when we were only two people there. All the others were busy in gabfest with each other. Ordered veggy wrap that menu said was cooked and I pictured it would be like a fajita wrap but it was just barely steamed at best and just raw vegs in a wrap with a watered down side sauce. Not enjoyable. Hubby had the portobello mushroom sandwich and it was tasty. Way overpriced for what you get. Won't be back.

Great place to enjoy a healthy meal. There are lots of vegan and vegetarian options. Their daily specials are always good choices. Very reasonable price for a good sized portion.

I'm about as healthy and organic as I can be, which means not very if I'm honest. I've stopped in here a few times when I get an overwhelming need for green leafy vegetables in the form of a huge salad. I've sampled their Greek salad that comes with chicken, olives, artichoke hearts, and all the feta I can inhale. Can't get a salad wrong and the Greek salad is delicious. The place seems to appeal to a diverse group of people and what I've had was very good. No complaints from me.

  • Alison F.

It was good. The veggie burger was on point. My husband ordered the felafel wrap and it was just meh. The felafel wasn't even warm. Overall, we had a decent experience and I would come back to try other things.

I have been coming here for years. Natures Grill on Main is perfect for a healthy meal!! What's nice is the variety for either a Vegan, Vegatarian or they do offer poultry and fish. Always fresh too! I love the veggie stirfry and I add grilled tofu. The salad with the tahini dressing is amazing. My husband likes the turkey burger or the pesto pasta. You won't be disappointed!!

    (5)
  • Andy A.

Great spot. Delicious food. Great waitstaff. We had a hummus plate which was huge great for 2 to 3 people. Had the veggie chili which was excellent along with a nice piece of cornbread which tasted delicious and homemade. The Cobb salad and a Greek salad both with homemade dressing is light and very flavorful. Great restaurant.

Up from San Diego for a trip to Channel Islands. Excellent Wild Alaskan Salmon over brown rice and vegetables. Will be new go to place when in Ventura. Wife had pesto pasta - excellent as well - fresh ingredients...

Had the veggie sir fry. It was fresh and flavorful. The veggies were cooked just right. My husband had the fish tacos and said he liked them. Despite the buzzing lunch crowd, we got our order quickly. It's nice that they bring the food to the table and I love that they have tables outside as well. The "bottled" water was a whopping 425, with 50 and lower typically being safest to drink. This is one of the highest numbers I've seen in the US! I didn't drink the water here. But it still concerns me since they're probably preparing the rice, washing the produce, and making ice and coffee with the same water. Yikes! If it weren't for the low water quality, I'd definitely give them 5 stars. I did, however, have a soy coffee after lunch. I was impressed to see that they had organic coffee and organic soy milk without sugar! This is a hard combination to find!

Ordered the blackened tilapia with mango salsa and it was of the hook. Super fresh fish and very flavorful, or should i say welcome to flavortown, included brown rice and steamed veggies.

Great food, terrible customer service! Shame on you for NOT being sensitive to customers allergies needs! Educate your employees of what the ingredients are on your menu. PS the girls at the front are too cool to know what's going on...

Great casual downtown eatery my personal choice is the "sea food stir-fry" It's a large plate of veggies w/chunks of fish over steamed rice just add a sprinkle of soy sauce & chow down....Mmmmm good!!

Shantay is Natures grills lil sweetheart! The food is amazing! However combined with this warm, beautiful, and so welcoming lady I cannot resist coming here. Good customer service is important to me. After living in North Carolina I have high expectations. Well here I get that southern hospitality treatment! Chino is amazing too. He remembers people and goes above and beyond what his job requires! Love them both and this place!

The food here is pretty awesome, by far my favorite place to stop when driving down the coast. It's LA health-conscious eating without the LA attitude :) Everything here is organic free range grass fed gmo free gluten free preservative free grain free pesticide free... But the meals are not free - and they're not cheap either, but the food is good. More importantly, I've never eaten anything here and walked out with a stomachache. Ever. Regardless of how much I've stuffed into my face. It's really, really good food. Also the staff is knowledgable and super friendly - which is a bonus :) (they have shakes and smoothies too!)

Natures Grill, is a weekend staple for my girlfriends and I to meet and have a filling and delicious meal all the while catching up on the goings on of our daily lives. The restaurant is always busy, the staff are always pleasant. This is a walk up and order style restaurant, I normally get the Albacore Tuna, it's a good size sandwich and the bread is always fresh, you also receive tortilla chips and a small size of salsa that is good, but will leave a reminder on your breath for the rest of the day. I normally get the iced tea, if I had one nitpick it would be that they only carry flavored tea, personally I enjoy a black tea. They also make salads and soups, they are Vegetarian/Vegan friendly too. During lunch rush on the weekends it can be hard to find seating (and they have plenty of seats) that shows you how popular it is with the locals, but don't let it deter you from trying it out.

  • Kristi N.

Goood Healthy food. I love the grilled veggies. Soup here is always interesting and chock full of really fun things. Order at the counter and they bring it to the table. The seating is very comfortable, but this room full of hard wood can get very loud. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice casual dining downtown.

Had a turkey burger with a salad. Wow what flavor. The dressing was creamy and sweet but not over bearing. Salad was just about as fresh as you could get. Super friendly staff always smiling. I definitely recommend this place to anyone. AWESOME FOOD!!!!

Really great food and people. Lots of options for veggie eaters. I recommend trying their tea and their pressed juices.

This place reminds me a lot of Natural Cafe. There are a lot of healthy choices, from soy dogs to several green salads. I ended up having: The Local Favorite $5.95 Avocado with lettuce, sprouts, tomato, red onion on nine grain bread with garlic mayo.... I then added in the feta cheese This is a great price for how much food I felt I got. They give you chips and salsa and then a full sandwich, stock piled high. I loved this sandwich, i was full after a half. In addition, I had the Pineapple Bra smoothie, was delish! I would definitely come back here to grab something healthy, filling and cheap! I would suggest bringing cash for tip, they don't have an option to fill out the tip. They also have beer and wine here. They are having a special right now for a meal with a bottle of wine. They bottle is extremely cheap! Under $25 I believe.

  • Andrew M.

The service is great and the food isn't bad, it's just too pricey for amount of food you get. I'm still hungry every time I leave this place. I've been here 4 times and I won't be back.

  • Ciera A.

Just wanted to update that the girls here are really friendly!!! Looks like the bad seeds aren't here anymore. They have wonderful service now and the good is always great. Super busy at lunchtime so I recommend calling ahead if you're on your lunch break

Look, maybe it's because I've only been going here for a year and I'm not burnt out yet, but seriously? Hands down within the top 5 on my favorite restaurant lists. I have to stop reading other people's reviews that rate under 3 stars because I just don't see it possible to dislike this place. Well, okay, I guess there's a few things ( in all honesty ), IMHO - don't order sandwhiches here unless you want to get mayonnaise or anything like that, because it is seriously bland, plus I dislike sprouts, and I hate how I feel like I'm eating a moundful of it in the sandwhich. The bread is a little dry, but I don't go there for sandwhiches, there's other great places for that. I do go for: Tahini-motherfucking-sauce. 8/10 servers there KNOW who I am, and know what I like, I get ____ with a whopping 4 sides of Tahini sauce. Is it bad for my health? What the hell is tahini? I DONT KNOW, do I care? F no. Guess what, throw another on, because it's so damn good. They throw in some ginger in there and it's amazing. Pasta of the day - look on the board after 5 at their specials literally, almost all of them are great, I don't get the crap with artichoke in it, I don't know about that, but the rest of the pasta's are BOMB.com ( ew, so early 2000's ), esp. the pesto sauce.. and their garlic bread, YESSSS. Shit, I'll throw tahini sauce on that. Chicken Quesadillas ( not ranchero - not my style ), their salsa and guac is pretty damn good! I love it... Their salad's are GINORMOUS, filling and delicious! Yogi Special - I'm not a vegetarian, but boy do I love their sauteed tofu, amazing. I upgrade my regular salad to an old town salad, because I love the guac that's on it. Their nachos. And I don't care how unhealthy it may be, the underlying fat grams, the calories and salt totaled, it fools me, and I feel guilt-free everytime I go there. I will endure the cafeteria loudness, crying children, and the awkwardness of waiting in line thinking everyone is staring at you to go there. Almost anytime of day it's busy, it's amazing. And I won't lie - I don't really care for main st./downtown I'm not into that DIY punk, trendy/scenester, boho/hippie and/or wannabe State st. shit that goes on there, but please, PLEASE I beg of you to just go and try atleast one of the things I listed above, it's so amazing.

I love this place! I went there for the first time today and had a tough time trying to decide what to order - everything looked soooo good! I settles on the spinach salad with sauteed tofu, dill dressing and a hunk of bread. YUM! I just wish there was a Nature's Grill near my house! I'll definitely eat here every time I come to Ventura!

  • Erin W.

This place is amazing. I frequent this place for a few reasons: 1. Excellent, fresh food 2. Great prices 3. AMAZING soups -- try the jalapeno potato... 4. Diverse vegetarian cuisine 5. Ginger Beer If you're into eating natural, fresh food that is a good price with friendly service then Nature's Grill is for you! It has a cafeteria-type setting, which makes it a great place for a quick and casual lunch or dinner.

I missed Natural Café in Santa Barbara, so when I saw this, I just about passed out. Menu is similar, not exact. Love the fresh healthy ingredients. Portions are generous. Smoothies and fresh juices are delicious. I will go back when I am in town again!

Nature's Grill on Main Street in Ventura, CA...aka...Natural Cafe of Santa Barbara and Goleta, CA. I have been a patron of Nature's Grill on Main Street since it opened up a few years ago, but I have been a patron of Natural Cafe for a total of 8 years. And one of the reasons is because it is just plain good & affordable. Everything on their menu is under $10. The inside of the restaurant is always wood. All wood benches & tables, there is always a Buddah out front, lots of plants & green things. And the vibe is unmistakeably relaxed. Nature's Grill is Delicious with a capital D! They are vegatarian & vegan friendly. Their menu is simple, accurate & makes it easy to order. The descriptions are on point. When you order you can get a bottled beverage or just get water(which you get yourself, along w/ the utensils & napkins) and you get a number so they can serve the food to you at your table. Their food promotes sharing because they are usually big portions. I have probably tried 80% of the food there including the vegetarian menu...and yes, the non-meat menu is VERY satisfying. I have had their portabello mushroom sandwich, its great because it is meaty in texture w/out the meat! My favorite item on the menu BY FAR is the grill chicken cesar salad. I am absolutely IN LOVE with that salad. The dressing is a lot less in fat because instead of being a cream based dressing its a vinegarette but you don't miss the old school cesar dressing! And although I eat "healthy" portions, I can not for the life of me, eat the whole thing...so bring someone to share it with! The other thing you should know about this resturant is that they sell pastries & sweets. Available are some vegan desserts too, so the vegans out there are not forgotten...but they tend to be much higher in price than regular pastries. Also, they have real fruit smoothies which are really, really good. I would probably have their smoothies more often but I would rather have one of their sandwiches or salads instead. This is the perfect place to go when you want to meet up with friends, talk & catch up because they don't try to push you out the door as soon as you are done eating. Its on beautiful Main Street Ventura where there are many historic buildings and a few blocks from the Mission and a few blocks from the beach...So enjoy!

Awesome Chicken Caesar Salad....best salad in town for sure. Try the shakes if your feeling something sweet, they are pretty rich though.

This is ONE restaurant, I would go to when visiting Ventura, they have a great selection, healthy and tastey! Amazingly the servings are filling, compared to other restaurants! Of course if you are lookin for Authentic Mexican, this is not the place to go, but the tamale is delicious! Yes it is an eccletic menu...but this gives one the choices that one would normally not get in an American restaurant.. As I mentioned the menu is full of healthy choices and well prepared! This is not a "fine dining place"! Just a restaurant that is casual with a positive atmosphere! I hope they keep adding more organic to their menu!

This place is epic! Had the veggie burger with blue chips and salsa. Outstanding! Great service. Water and a container full of sliced lemons for replenishing the soul. Love this place!

As you can probably guess by my avatar, I'm in no way a vegetarian. That doesn't mean that I'm not into trying new things. I was out and about on a beautiful Friday in Ventura and thought I'd give the place a try. I decided to go vegetarian and got the Tempeh Tacos & Veggie Juice, hoping it wouldn't shock my carnivorous system too much. The juice was tasty albeit a bit warm. A chilled glass might have helped. The crowd was a mix of the Ventura locals and tourists. You order from the counter and the food is delivered to your table. There's nice, unobtrusive music as well. The tacos sew pretty darned tough to eat with one's hands. I finally resorted to cutting them up and pouring the beans and rice side dish over the top. They were pretty bland as well. This was partially due to the stronger flavors in the vegetable juice, but still requiring extra salsa and hit sauce. If one of my vegan friends wants to go to lunch, I'd happily take him or her here. I'll be at the pizza place next door.

Hadn't been to this place in years. Stopped in for lunch with my mom and grandma; everyone enjoyed their selections. Nature's Grill is definitely more on the "health food" side of eating out. They have great vegetarian selections. Today I tried a cup of Roasted Jalapeno and Potato Soup and the Zog Dog (i.e. a veggie chili cheese dog - served with blue corn tortilla chips and salsa). I also tried a bit of my mom's stuffed veggie quesadilla, which was quite good. No complains about the service. When we arrived at 1pm the place was packed, but we did manage to find a table and didn't wait in line for long. You order before you sit down. When the line is long it's a little hard to see the hanging menu in the back (at least for those of us who need glasses, but don't always wear them...) menus are available at the cash registrar, so for your first time there, it may be helpful to grab one while you're waiting in line to order.

Another great dog friendly restaurant . My wife and I had a great healthy meal. Menu look like a place called natural cafe. Asked a worker and he said yes they used to partners. Food is amazing. Well priced for a healthy meal. My wife is a vegetarian and there are alot of choices for her.

As a vegan, it's a little tough to find to restaurants that cater (pun intended) to my preferences. Luckily, Nature's Grill is one of those places- with the plus side that I can bring my non-veg*n friends along and know that they can order something that they'll enjoy. I agree with the hummus and tofu (perfectly firm). my friends enjoy the buddha plates (?) and burritos. Some say that they lack flavor... load that shit up with Bragg's- solves the problem asap. Lastly, cheers to making beer available to meal patrons.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant and rightfully so! I have eaten at this location, many of times and have never walked out disappointed. There is only one thing I regret about this place and that is not trying the Turkey burger from the start. Yesterday I had my first one from here, with bun and all... and It was the best damn burger I've ver put my mouth on. Write that down and go and try it out for yourself, if you are into healthy food (like me) this is defiantly the place to eat !

  • Gracie P.

The service is always super fast and the employees are extremely helpful, inviting, and friendly. I absolutely adore this place. I like that they have many different vegetarian selections, especially like the zen burger and portobella mushroom sandwich. I definitely recommend checking this place out.

Tex-mex with a socal "fresh ingredients" flair. Very yummy. A little different than actual tex mex, so if you are from the west don't come with all your typical expectations. I was pleasantly surprised with how wonderful the food was. Who knew. The best part about this place is that there is a plate to suit everyone while being virtually meat-free!

  • Jillana M.

I have been eating at this place for years and the food has been consistently good. Consistency can be a rare trait in the restaurant business. Nature's Grill is a great little veggie and vegan friendly cafe, without entirely omitting meat from the menu. An even bigger plus - it doesn't even smell like patchouli oil! A health food cafe that inhabits a sense of balance and forgoes the esoteric ambiance that unfortunately often accompanies restaurants that have more than three salads and offers tofu. OK, so I am generalizing and exaggerating but perhaps you know what I mean. Such a diverse selection of satisfying healthy eats makes Nature's grill an excellent meal option for all. Each menu item is a health conscience creation that celebrates the qualities of each ingredient in a simple yet creative manner. With generous portions this cafe is also quite the bargain. What to try... - The Nachos (blue corn chips, black beans, jack cheese, avocado, some other great stuff I don't remember) -All the salads, especially the East Beach (P.S. they are huge) -The soups -Chicken pita sandwich - Carrot Milk shake (Yum!)

I really enjoyed my meal here. It was solid, good flavors, fresh ingredients, and affordably priced. When you go here you know exactly what you are going to get, and it is a good meal, nothing more, nothing less.

  • Tim M.

They have a large menu with several vegetarian options. I got the falafel pita. It would have been very good if everything was mixed together, however, they put in the sauce and hummus, then then carrots, then the sprouts, then about 4 hunks of falafe (see my uploaded picture)l. So the flavors didn't mix together, I could have eaten everything separately. My girlfriend got the chili, which tasted fine, but kind of bland.

    (3)
  • Elena I.

Very bland in that special way that characterizes a lot of health food and vegan cuisine. Maybe it's the natural taste of Tempeh, tofu, and tahini when they aren't adequately seasoned with anything other than sprouts and raw carrots. Perhaps it's the taste of salt substitutes such as Dash and Bragg's? Who knows. I've never believed that vegan food has to taste like cardboard. But picky eaters and those who aren't into herbs and spices will like it. My 17 year old niece loved the Tempeh tacos, because it didn't taste like cumin, cilantro, garlic and all the weird stuff that she refuses to eat at home. I gave her my Tofu stir fry and filled up on a smoothie.

Wonderful place to eat a meal. They make the kind of food that makes you feel good and healthy as well as fed. We were on a road trip from Atlanta to visit niece and family in Ventura. Great recommendation for lunch.

I normally would not choose a healthy eatery but I was curious and very hungry. My Mom and I stumbled upon this place walking downtown. We both ordered the turkey burger with a side of blue corn tortilla chips. Our wait was about 10 minutes. The burger was huge! Very good and healthy!

Great food and selection. Nice environment. I would give this establishment an amazing review based on good quality but the customer service is horrible. The management and staff gossip about patrons and even throw your take out order number to you. They do greet you with a smile but rush you through your order and when you ask them for suggestions they look at you like you are not worth their time. Very aggravated that everytime I come here the service quality always leaves me wanting something better. If there was something else near by with better service and similar selection I would definitely trade my business there. Please work on your quality of service and professionalism because your business has the potential to be greater. Currently it reeks of complacency, however the second a competitor opens, this business is sure to tank.

This is one of my absolute favorite places to eat because it is healthy and delicious. I am always satisfied with what I order.

Everything I've eaten here has been great. Delicious fresh fruit/veggie juice bar too! They need an A/C system for hot weather no doubt. Good for up to parties of 4. Can get very busy/long lines to order food & limited seating during rush hours. Few outdoor tables for up to 2 people. Very casual. Very healthy :)

Nature's Grill is always a solid standby for quick & casual no-fuss meals. I prefer to stay clear from the turkey sandwich as its typically way too dry & there's always too much of it. Also not a fan of the Falafel Pita, there's just simply no good falafel in Ventura (RIP the now burned-to-the-ground Cartwright's & their Falafel Burrito!). However, I am a big fan of the Gobbler Burger, the Baja Chicken Burrito, and my absolute favorite that I order way too often is the Tostada Salad. My recommendation for the salad is to not accept the choice of dressing that they offer, that salad already has all the flavors it needs without being doused in a new one. If anything I just enjoy a little extra salsa. ...*Also, I love that they have Reed's Natural Ginger Ale in the fridge!

I love Nature's Grill/Natural Cafe. They used to be the same then I think a while back the partner's split. But the food is still great at either. My faves are the Good Karma Burger or the Spiritual Spinach Salad. The staff is always friendly and their salsa is pretty decent too. If you are looking for Tex Mex you might be a bit disappointed. They have great vegetarian and vegan options if you go meatless. Plus some excellent turkey and chicken dishes if you prefer some meat.

I really don't understand why everyone thinks this place is great. The first time i came here i hated it, and i should have trusted my own judgement because everything is so bland! I guess it's trendy to go here. The customer service has been good at least..

Their Vegetarian Burger is simply the best i have ever had ! My friend had the Turkey half sandwich and salad and enjoyed it thorougly. Its supposed to be all organic and healthy and the food was very fresh and tasty.. would definitely recommend it !

This is a popular sandwich place on Main Street Ventura. I sometimes go there for a snack before a movie. Never again. The food has deteriorated markedly. To start with the cherry drink I ordered was no better than sugar water. My sandwich was a miserable collection of three small pieces of chicken, brownish sprouts, a thin slice of tomato & brownish lettuce. It was unacceptable. In addition, the place is extremely noisy and the staff rushed off their feet. AVOID. For a much better lunch go to Shamsi's delicatessen behind Smart & Final on Borchard Drive.

Really appreciated this through back to another era. Not exceptionally creative but extensive with many vegetarian and vegan options. Small wine list (2 wines) but the good news there is they are both terrific wines from Santa Barbara county.

Just okay. Not enough vegan options! Food quality or taste isn't amazing, plus I wish they kept the seating area a little cleaner.

I'm in town for a business trip and I was looking for something good to eat. This place was cheap and delicious. I ordered the bean enchiladas. They were great without being smothered in a plateful of cheese and beans like most tex-mex places. Instead, they came with a salad with the most amazing tahini dressing. It was really good. The service is simple. It's almost self-serve except they bring you your food after you order at the counter. Getting the silverware is up to you. It's right in the main "downtown" area and walkable from the beach. You wouldn't feel weird at all walking in with a t-shirt and shorts. Check it out!

Excellent, fresh food. My wife and I and three boys eat here whenever we are in the area (not enough!) The menu includes something for everyone, but we are all partial to the portabello mushroom sandwich ; it is simply fantastic. The smoothies and shakes are great. Try the peanut butter shake to get your protein fix. The layout is fun with nice artwork displayed throughout. The employees are friendly and good at what they do. Excellent service almost always. Oh, most importantly . . .the prices are very reasonable considering the high quality of the food. Rarely do I find costs to justify the products as I do with this place. It is money well spent. If I was fortunate enough to live closer to Ventura I'd eat here at least twice a week. It's that good. I do have to agree that the chicken for the pitas is, indeed, far too dry and overcooked. I just stick more to vege fare and soups etc . . .

i'm from oxnard, but most of my time since i got my license has been spent in ventura. oxnard doesn't really have any vegetarian places, and it's not like i give a shit anyway cause i'm a meat lover and there is no way in hell i'd ever give it up, but nature's grill has taught me to appreciate a great and hearty meal without the meat. i usually get the yogi special or falafel, and when i'm on the go i just get some delicious soup of the day with a side of cornbread which is delicious! they've got a well-rounded menu and a friendly staff. only thing is it gets pretty busy around lunch time because it is downtown ventura on main, and it fills up with yuppies and plaid-wearing hipsters. other than that it's a super chill place to have lunch. don't forget to try their blueberry milkshakes!

I've been to this place a couple of times before, when they were the Natural Cafe I believe it was called. My husband and I dropped in for a quick bite to eat before a movie and the food was indeed very quick to get to our table. Water is self serve which is nice. You can get up to get more if you need it whenever you need it. I ordered the vegetarian lasagna which had a really nice flavor. A little heavy on the zucchini for my taste but it was still a nice hearty meal and very filling. My husband had the Zog Dog which seemed to be a vegetarian chili dog that he had to eat with a fork because it was a little on the messy side. He said it was super delish! We'll come back for another quick meal before a movie in the future.

It's so simple, I don't know why we don't just make this sandwich at home, but my wife was so happy to find that Nature's Grill makes an avocado, tomato, sprouts, shredded cheddar cheese sandwich just like we used to get at one of our favorite Tacoma, Washington eateries The Antique Sandwich Company ( yelp.com/biz/antique-san… ). Like I said, it's so simple, but when done right, it's so satisfying and will keep us coming back. And personally, I think their turkey burger is one of the best burgers in town and the last time we ate there I had the Primo Pesto Pasta and it was very good. I don't always want a super simple sandwich so it's good to have other options and with Nature's Grill, there are a ton of options. It works out perfectly when one person wants some simple lunch-y food and the other wants a more complex entree.

This place is one of the best, if not THE BEST in Ventura County for soups, salads or sandwiches. I have been going here for over 3 years and I'm still not over it. Everything here taste fresh and healthy. Every day they have a different soup, but my personal favorites are potatoe jalapeño cheddar and the creamy tomatoe basil! Give this place a try and you won't be dissapoited. :)

It's Nature's Grill, not Natural Cafe, as I often hear it's called (as it apparently was called Nature's Cafe once upon a time). As the name suggests, it's an establishment that specializes in natural and "health" food. You enter through the front on Main St. and you're greeted by a happy Buddha with a hole in his tummy so you can pick up a menu. They have a pretty great selection of food from sandwiches, wraps, nachos and the like, and all have the natural, healthful spin on it (lots of cheese isn't so bad, right?). They also have a great selection of beverages, including beer (which is made from wheat, and is natural, right?). Service is quick and friendly. You order at the counter, and you take your number on a stand, sit down in a section of somewhat eclectic seating, and in time, you get your food. Last time I was here I got a black bean wrap with some other goodness inside, I forgot. What I do remember is that it wasn't really a wrap, as they filled the thing so much, that it was more like a giant soft taco that I couldn't pick up because the spinach wrap was so thin and flimsy it would have just fallen apart. It was just as tasty as I expected even having to eat it with fork and knife, as most of the food I've had here is. It's definitely a place to consider to go when you're roaming around Main St., and especially a spot to go to when you're planning on catching a show around the corner at the Majestic Ventura Theatre.

Nature's Grill is located in the heart of Downtown Ventura on Main between California and Chestnut. A great place to have lunch with my parents and a nice spot my boyfriend and I frequent on the weekend. There is easy access from Main St. as well as from the back of the restaurant where a free parking garage is located (I normally enter through here). There is a limited number of booths, but plenty of table seating. Nice artwork and plants decorate this restaurant. This place is buzzing during lunch hour and on weekends. My usual wait time to order food is no more than 5 minutes. After ordering you seat yourself and wait for the food to be brought out. There is also a station to pick up silverware and to fill up on water. Their menu offers a variety of food for their diverse customer population. Food here is not only healthy, but DIFFERENT. Meat lovers, vegetarians and vegans can join together in a satisfying meal here. Not too many places have blue corn tortilla chips, beds of brown rice, unique veggie patties, char-broiled turkey, and whole wheat chapati on the menu. Everything I have had here (Good Karma Burger to their Strawberry Fields smoothie) has been fresh, tasty and has always hit the spot. I have been a loyal customer for the past four years and will continue to support Nature's Grill and other incredible local businesses.

My husband and I went here yesterday because our first choice, Cafe Bariloche was not open. At first we were happy because the menu was the exact same as the Natural Cafe in Santa Barbara but that was where the resemblance stopped. We waited 40 minutes for our food. We were about ready to ask for our money back and go elsewhere when our food arrived...which would have been tolerable except what the waitress brought was not our meals. So we had to wait some more. The food was lukewarm and afterall the waiting we were just over the food. Needless to say we will not be going there again, we will stick to the Natural Cafe in Santa Barbara.

For the record, I am a big fan of tofu! If there is a restaurant that has several options of including tofu into my food they are on my good side. I liked the freshness of this food and the sauteed tofu on my salad. It is cheap, quick and yummers. Apparently there is parking in the back as well! When passing through Ventura I will stop here again!

It used to be part of the Natural Cafe group, so the menu is very similar. I found the food similar, but the ambience not as nice as the other similar places in Westlake, Newbury Park and Santa Barbara. Not sure if I would come back here.

So we drove all the way from West LA to Ventura (in traffic, argh!) for the Morrissey concert. We had a couple of hours to spare and we thought why not visit the vicinity of the Ventura Theater. We found a couple of Thai food restaurants, a few pubs, a cinema all located in a compact little town. One of the places that drew us in was this cafe. If I recall correctly, the name was printed as Nature's Grill on the window. You order like you would in a fast-food restaurant. and you grab a number for them to serve you. I ordered the roasted turkey sandwich and my wife went for primo pesto pasta. The sandwich bread is laced with dijon mustard and garlic mayo. A few layers of freshly sliced turkey breast are packed within along the usual lettuce, tomato and sprouts. Oh and freshly made blue corn chips and salsa. I thought to myself what's so special anyway? One can get similar sandwiches in West LA. One bite into it and I love it. Well...to be honest the trick to a delicious sandwich is freshness. But it's the price that took me away. For a sandwich this good, I spent a whooping...$6.25. That is cheap compared to those offered in West LA! And I couldn't even finish the chips. The pasta dish was quite a star as well. Made with homemade pesto sauce and feta cheese. Came with a slice of garlic bread and a bowl of salad. And no funny business in the salad bowl. When I said funny biz, I meant greens that turned brown or the presence of soil or similar particles. Greens were fresh fresh fresh!! In all, we spent less than $15 and we were energized for the concert.

Pro's : great albacore melt. excellent nachos. definitely a great spot to grab a solid whole food lunch or dinner. Con's: tempeh tacos are bland and 'meh'. House Ice-Tea is overbrewed.

I tried to like this cute little cafe. Downtown, healthy, vegetarian-friendly (which is rare for this area). It's just that the seating is awkward, making me never want to stay there to eat, and the food is super bland. Cool place for a cup of coffee or tea, I guess.

If you want healthy food, this is a good place to go. Or, if you want some granola ambiance, its good for that too. The salads are huge and I recommend splitting them unless you can eat a lot of salad. The soups are usually good, but if you are not sure about a soup, they will usually give you a sample so you can decide. I recommend the nachos grande with grilled chicken added (NOT the chicken ranchero, which I would not recommend), the Buddha burrito with grilled chicken added if you feel like more vegetables, or the turkey burger. All are sure fire bets. It does get pretty crowded and slow at lunch during the week and sometimes on the weekend. So, if you go in and see a long line, be prepared to wait.

Its Vegetarian, VERY good, menu is always the same but they add "Specials" on a daily basis for lunch and dinner. (Written on the board by the door, and the register) I ate Nature's grill every day for 3 years, mostly because I worked there anyway and I found it easy to make up dishes, which allowed me to fall in love with their menu all over again. Their atmosphere is wonderful and their waitresses are always really nice and helpful. Their food is very consistent, mostly because their cooks have been there since it opened (I think in '02 or '03) and they really care about the quality of their food. The owner, Mark really cares for his employees as well as his customers, whenever either have suggestions he really interacts with them to make everyones experiences better. Over all, I love this place and would recommend it to anyone, vegetarian or not. They have dishes for nonvegeterian customers, I recommend the Turkey burger; I'm confident to say they'll fall in love with it 5 out of 5 times. My favorite dish: I came up with this one day; I had tried EVERYTHING on the menu and was experimenting with my favorite salad. Took the croutons out and added a cup of brown rice to the Nature's Caesar salad. IT DELICIOUS!!!! Their wheat grass is grown locally by the sweetest Ojai lady, their baked goods are also made locally. For desert, I loved their huge rice crispi treats, which the waitresses sometimes come in early in the morning to make. Their cakes? I love the Chocolate Ganache! They try to switch up their drink selection every once in a while, their freshly brewed ice tea is always good. The drink in the fridge are brought in daily, and sometimes they have Stewards Lemonade, which is my favorite! They'll always have imported beers, which change every once in a while, and always feel free to recommend or suggest new beers, the girls (waitresses) will most likely talk to the owner and make it happen. Or make a note to him on a napkin, he loves costumer feedback!

Cool points for being nestled in downtown Main street. This place draws the right crowd and rewards them with delicious choices of organically prepared entrees. I chose simple and like many places I rate creativity by how well their nachos are made. Nature's Grill scores high, using blue corn tortillas with fresh guacamole, cheeses, olives, fresh pico de gallo, sour cream and frijoles negro. I sampled the Buttermilk Squash soup with a honey oat roll, which was tasty. Try the shakes, they're made fresh to order with choice berries and fruit! I can't wait to come back.

The Nature's Grill has an excellent selection of fresh and healthy foods. You know that everything you order is fresh and local. I love their nachos and Old Town Salad. I also love their fresh fish tacos. they have a great soup and salad lunch combo or soup and 1/2 sandwich. I have been happily satisfied every time.

The place is a spitting image of Natural Cafe. Lacks originality and flavor. was unimpressed with the falafel and house salad was similar to the one I had at cocos.. If you buy your produce from costco you will love this place!! At least they served beers.

Nice little find on Main Street. Food is very fresh -- tomatoes in the turkey sandwich were divine. But if you've eaten at the now-defunct The Source on Sunset or also defunct (detect a theme?) Good Earth restaurant chain, you know the menu is pretty much a throwback to 1970 health food. Sprouts, really? Who eats those anymore? But that being said, quality is excellent. The pea soup is divine, even though someone in the kitchen was too lazy to chop the onion fine. The turkey was excellent. The salsa and blue corn chips rock. The tempeh tacos - not great, and so glad that wasn't my order. Vegetarian food has come a looooong way, though, in the last 40 years -- Nature's Grill needs to get the memo, because with a few updates this place would knock my socks off.

  • Roxy B.

The food is good of course, but I always tell myself that I can replicate the same meals at home- but I'm sometimes too lazy to go out to buy the right groceries, when I live with some not so healthy eaters. The place is always busy and eating here always gives me a nudge that I could be eating healthier on a daily basis. It's a great place to meet a few close friends downtown for lunch. Or perhaps impress your date that you love healthy food as the next hippie in Ventura, and not spend a lot of dough!

  • Wendy H.

I like the atmosphere. Very 'nature-ish', veggie ambiance, plenty of veggie dishes. However, lots of meat dishes too! And the food is not good at all (we had the wild salmon and veggie stir fry with tofu). Tofu tasted old, they put weird fruit sauce on the salmon, and the rice was tasteless.

    (2)
  • Rebecca H.

This place is great. Everything is very fresh and healthy and there is a great variety of food to choose from the menu. I recommend the portebello mushroom sandwich. The burritos are pretty good too, this is not your typically cheese filled greasy burrito. The burrito is a new spin to healthy burrito, healthy outside whole wheat tortilla and a lot of good fillings inside. However I do not recommend the tomato basil cream soup it is pretty bad. There is a weird after taste that I cannot really describe and has no real tomato/basil taste to it, it is almost as if it is watered down. The atmosphere is very nice and bohemian feel and the location is good if you want to see a movie or take a walk to the beach. Parking is very good too, if you park in the parking structure you can just walk straight to the back of the restaurant. Pros: good selection of food, good parking, good atmosphere Cons: bad soup, bread a little too toasty (could of just been my experience)

The Food is always delicious, I've ordered just about the entire vegetarian menu and loved everything The only thing is i feel like the beans and rice don't have much of a flavor. The staff is very friendly, polite and prompt. It may be a little expensive but i would rather pay alot for good healthy food. They also have a great menu for meat eaters as well.

Blue corn chips! whoohoo! This place was recommended by a friend (thanks Ballow!) and it was delicious. I had the chicken tacos and they were jam-packed with goodness. My boyfriend had a chicken stuffed backed potato and our friend had an awesome tuna sandwhich. Everything was fresh and tasted great. Cute atmosphere too, right downtown and very Ventura. Very tasty, I'll be back.

I had been to Nature's Grill a few years ago and today was my second time around and I'm really pleased to see that the vibrance of Ventura has been restored! A few years ago it resembled a ghost town more than a popular California beach destination and it was rather depressing! I've been sick for 5 days and my existence has been based on quils of the day and ny varieties followed by soup chasers so I was stoked to be in the mood for some hearty food today. I ordered the tamales sans sour cream and I must admit I've had better. My family was happy with their choices, however and I can't be sure how much of the taste was compromised by my sickly tastebuds. I love that Nature's Grill serves salt free blue chips and salsa with their meals instead of fries or something usual, as other Yelpers here can relate. They serve food in order of who ordered first, use fresh ingredients, offer choices for omnivores and herbivores alike, and the portions aren't ridiculous. My only complaint is that it wouldn't hurt to add some sort of a symbol next to the meals that can be made vegan because it would greatly speed up the ordering process!

This is the kind of place I wish I could eat at every day. Their food is unpretentious and healthy. I rarely stray from my Old Town Salad...but when I do decide to live dangerously and try something new I am never disappointed. Their sauteed tofu is absolutely addictive.

This is probably my favorite place for lunch on Main St. I like everything about it. The food is excellant and inexpensive, and the service is really friendly. It's one of those health food places that you first approach expecting to leave still hungry, but they give you plenty of food.

Highly recommend this place in downtown Ventura.

Decent. Good for healthy bites but a pretty penny for something you can easily make and double in quantity at home. A little noisy but fresh, location is what that place has going for them. Hint: Beware of long lines

My bf and I were strolling around Downtown and I had heard good things about this place so wanted to give it a try. My bf had been to the one in Santa Maria and raved about a soup they had. They didn't have it on the menu here but we were not disappointed with our selections. I had the local favorite sandwich and added chicken, my bf had their Greek salad. Their portions are very generous. I peeked over at some of the other tables and made a mental note for what to try next time ;) Yum!

Nice place with tasty food and fair prices. Simple menu, multiple local beers on tap and a variety of wine selections. The turkey burger was really terrific. The Greek salad was tasty and the choice of custom salad dressings are wonderful. Nothing special about the facility, cafeteria style, but clean and comfortable.

Super cheap for what you get. Fresh juice for 2.95? Seriously? Sit outside because inside feels a bit like a cafeteria. So it's definitely low in ambiance. Tons of veggie/vegan options. Great place to bring a meat eater and vegetarian alike. Yes, please. Delicious. And the price is DEF right.

If you like a friendly environment, being able to get your silverware water napkins and be served your food at your numbered table. Keep reading. The food is carried. Think of natural food, a big fresh salad prepared fresh from local ingredients - that's not what you'll get here. The salad I had was made of factory-prepped vegetables and dressing with white-bread croutons such as you'd find at Wendy's. Friendly staff, though. Also kinda shop-worn seats and a bit stale smelling.

  • Jim K.

We stopped here for lunch and were very satisfied. I had the pasta with marinara sauce and my friend had a salad. She raved about the unique salad dressing so much that we got the recipe. The pasta was very flavorful and the garlic bread was also very good. A very satisfying lunch all around. Even better was that we could sit outside in the sun while enjoying our meal.

My husband and I share this everytime we go. We have been going here for several years and I must admit this platter has been made better in the past. The past few times not as many veggies, beans, and cheese. Just kinda thrown quickly together. Disappointing. Still tasty and has been one of our favorite spots for lunch on a date.

Wanted to like it! I've been vegetarian for over 20 years and am always pleased to support local places that focus on plant based food. The staff was friendly and helpful and the surroundings, though crowded, were pleasant. However, the food was disappointing. The stir fry was over-cooked, leaving a plate of limp vegetables in the midst of enough tofu for three people. My sister's tacos were equally unimpressive. Perhaps other dishes stand out more, but ours were lackluster.

This place always smells so fresh! A bit of heaven! Every time I come here for a meal, my meal is tasty! I love the casualness of this place... it's rather cozy. The staff is attentive and friendly too.

I don't love this spot but my friends do. It has kid friendly options and healthy options and absolutely excellent salads. I think it is a better lunch than dinner spot. I would not order fish here again, but the salads and juices are good and the mexican american fare looks tasty. I did have a tummy-ache after eating here, as did another person, that concerns me.

Good healthy food, wide variety, friendly service, and a solid option on a weekend if you don't have reservations. Similar to Lotus Cafe in Encinitas, you order at the counter, grab your own silverware and water, and find a table. Good ambiance and they even have alcohol. The enchiladas and turkey burger were delicious.

Our go-to-place on the drive back from LA. It's not too far off Hwy 101 and the food is deelish. Nice setting also and very reasonable places. On top of that, the folks that work there are always nice! We had the falafel sandwich, turkey avocado sandwich, pesto pasta, and the kid's pasta. All were very good. Oh...had the chocolate shake too and that topped it off nicely.

I've always wanted to love this place. Believe me. And after a few times of walking out feeling just "meh," I finally have found something that makes me really enjoy it! The chicken quesadilla is so delicious and a lot healthier than going to your typical Mexican food restaurant, without sacrificing flavour! The side salad is quite yummy and I take mine with the lemon herb dressing. Complimentary water on the counter is always a plus versus feeling like "that guy" asking for a little plastic cup like they do at most restaurants when you don't feel like paying for a drink ;-), and the staff are very friendly. The lady even brought me napkins and silverware when dropping off my food, despite them being just a few feet away from me on the counter. I'll have to come back and try their juice and maybe then I'll deem them worthy of that 5th star. But as for now, keep doing your thing, Nature's Grill!

My Greek salad came out very fast, was big with many pieces of chicken, Kalamata olives, artichoke hearts: very generous. Fresh veggie juice was delicious and again a large glass. I like the music (not too loud) and the service was very good and friendly. It was off hours so it could be different at prime meal times.

I didn't know what to expect once my husband and I walked in, so we ordered something familiar to see what it would be like. You can't go wrong with a simple turkey sandwich, and we didn't! It was big enough for the 2 of us to share because it also came with a side of chips and a small cup of salsa. The reason I did not rate 5 stars is because I felt it needed just a little more seasoning, but other then that it was very worth the $7.

Dropped by here while visiting an old college buddy. After a 1.5 mile walk along the beach, we worked up quite a big appetite and he suggested Nature's Grill as we're cruising along main street. We both ended up ordering the natural burger and man it was delicious. You wouldn't know that it's a veggie burger. You know how you get this bloated feeling after eating a pretty good size burger. Not here, the burgers are just a big but you don't feel lethargic. Very good burger and I'll definitely come back. And not just for the burgers. :) The cashier who took our order. So pretty. :) . She looked like a pre surgery Heidi Montag. My friend on the other hand was totally in love with the brunette girl. So come for the burgers and stay for the eye candy. Enjoy.

OMG the char-broiled turkey burger is Outrageously good! Prepared with alfalfa, tomato, 1000 island dressing, on a whole wheat bun. Located in downtown Ventura. Parking (parking structure) is available at the back. There's a rear entrance. There are a few tables curbside. Will be coming back real soon!

Really fresh, great food. One of the biggest salads I've ever received and the ingredients were very well done - veggies were freshly grilled, not soggy, and tofu was perfectly steamed. Also love that they have a little bar of oil, vinegar, bragg's, nutritional yeast, etc., so you can help yourself. Portions are huge for the price. Good local beer & wine selection too!

Everytime I go and visit everyone back home I immediately think of this place. It's healthy, affordable, and delicious. They have a great variety of foods but my favorite is the Ranch Salad with chicken. First of all their chicken is delicious and free range. The location is amazing because you can walk down to the beach after lunch or do some shopping. The decor is very natural and comfy. I miss this place and wish I could bring it with me to Orange County. Their wide selection of bottled drinks and smoothies is also amazing.

This place ROCKS!!! I had a great burrito filled with lots of veggies and chicken - it was delish and was priced right! VALUE, FRESH, CLEAN place - the fresh carrot juice was excellent! Pretty quick service (it was crowded that day, and only about a 12 minute wait from order to food on the table). We will be back!!!

Nature's Grill Breakdown: THE FOOD: The food was okay for me. I special ordered a chicken/falafel pita. It was not the tastiest thing ever. It lacked a lot of flavor and was very dry. A little tahini would have helped a lot! Also, my chicken was overcooked and dry. As my boyfriend described it "tastes like dust" haha I have no idea what that means, but he was not a fan of my food. He on the other hand ordered their special for the day, which was a turkey sandwich. He raved about it and thought it was amazing! So I guess they have good and not so good things on their menu. They serve sandwiches, soups, salads, & bakery fresh bread. THE VALUE: Expect to spend about $20 for two meals and drinks. THE EXPERIENCE: I was drawn to this place because it seemed like it was geared towards serving healthy foods. However, I was a little disappointed that the menu did not offer calorie information. Also, I was not a fan of the "grungy" look they have going. I'm sure it is a clean establishment, but It is a little dark inside and I didn't like that our table felt sticky. I'm sure I would return and give this place another shot. After all, my boyfriend did really like his meal.

Nature's Grill has something for everyone and when you leave - you leave feeling full and healthy, not stuffed and guilty. I love the grilled chicken pita and the spinach salad with lemon herb dressing. My fiance also likes the chicken pita and sometimes goes for the veggie lasagna with garlic bread. The staff is always friendly and they really get the food out quickly. It can get packed around lunch time. Tip: Phone orders are the way to go.

I love going here whenever I'm in Ventura. They have great salads and vegetarian entrees. Their iced tea is delicious. I really like the stuffed veggie quesadilla- not traditional mexican (has mushrooms, yellow squash, and zucchini) but still good.

No more. Can't do it. Turkey burgers at this location are routinely overcooked. Ordered a turkey sandwhich as well, only to find a little teeny weeny PIECE of turkey hidden under my salad sandwhich. Stick to Santa barbara locations. To toe this experience off, the cashier seemed annoyed to be interrupted chatting with other co-workers to take our order. Our order, to go, btw, was a 25 minute wait. USED top be great food and service, NO idea what happened with management here.Do NOT waste your time. Want good food, this is not the location for it.

Really great healthy restaurant in the middle of downtown. The prices are reasonable and the food doesn't taste "healthy" even if it is. I got the half soup and salad combo with a tuna sandwich and tahini dressing on the salad. The tahini dressing tastes less of tahini than I expected. I really gives a nice creaminess to the salad without being overwhelming. My friend got a veggie stir fry that was a bit on the salty side. We both got ginger beer out of the refrigerator case. Yummy! Coming from LA, we appreciated the free parking in the structure in the back.

I ate here today with one of my best friends and it was a great place to go for a healthy lunch. Portions are good size especially for the price. I will be coming back here for sure. I would have rated them a 5 but it was very crowded and took a lil time waiting in line and getting our food. I will say our food was amazing though! They mix all the right ingredients together to make your dish unique but very tasty! I was surprised by how much I actually enjoyed this place! Can't wait to go back and try something different :)

The food is fine, but not great in my opinion. I lived in San Francisco for 17 years, so I was spoiled by amazing eats to fit any size pocket book. The last time I ate here the cashier/server was so grumpy that she soured my experience (clearly she was having a bad day, but no reason to take it out on your customers). I'm not sure I'll be back.

Had the Roasted Eggplant/Red Pepper & Garlic Roasted Potato soup. Sandwich was yummy, soup was better than average but maybe a little plain. All in all, good food, decent prices (for CA) - Cup of soup & Sandwich ~$13. Great, friendly customer service at the cash register from the tall gal and good location in Ventura. I'll do it again when I get the chance. (note to mgmt-putting the specials white-board where the staff has to walk in the table to change it- not a really good idea, just sayin').

Driving back from SLO to Los Angeles, we googled what would be the best place to stop for lunch, and this place came up! I had the fish tacos which I would highly recommend. Very simple but delicious - corn tortillas, sauteed white fish with salsa, shredded red cabbage and carrots. That's it! But so yummy. My husband had the Baja Burrito which he loved. I really liked the open, airy atmosphere in there. Everything tasted really healthy and fresh. Definitely an awesome place.

I'm actually sort of baffled by all the praise this restaurant gets. The first time I went I ordered the tempeh tacos with a side of rice and black beans. It was my first and only time eating tempeh so maybe it turns out I just don't like it - whatever the case may be, it was so unappetizing that I just had to eat around it. The rice and beans were completely flavorless, to the point of not even being able to finish them (which, coming from me, says a lot). Although I don't remember what my dad ordered, I do recall that he was less than pleased with his meal as well. I offered him my rice and beans but he couldn't eat them either. So cut to a week or two later when my dad and I were shopping downtown and wanted to stop somewhere for lunch. We decided to give Nature's Grill another chance because hey, maybe we just went on a bad day or something. I ordered a burrito with no cheese or sour cream, and since the restaurant is touted as being vegan-friendly I figured this would be no problem. However, when I got my dish I realized this was not the case as there was sour cream on it. I went back to the counter and said something about it. Their solution? Just wipe some of it off and send it back out. I can definitely understand not wanting to waste food and I accept that this is what a lot of restaurants do, but for a place that seems to have a reputation for being vegan-friendly that just isn't cool. Other than that incident, the service was pretty decent and I enjoyed the atmosphere so there is that. Unfortunately that's not enough to make me really want to go back. I'm bummed because I really, really wanted to like this place too.

I dig this place, the food can be good, not sure if its worth the price everytime. The reason I give it three stars is because the customer service is not always as friendly as the environment would suggest. I know its lunch hour, but the feeling of being rushed along does not provide a friendly environment. Ive been to many a places during lunch hour that do just fine with their customers.

Stopped in this place for lunch with my husband and mother-in-law while walking around downtown Ventura. (We're from Boston and were unfamiliar with the Ventura area, but found the downtown to be really cool and fun!) We were looking for a light lunch since we were attending a wedding and prepping for a big meal that evening. Nature's Grill was a great find! The place was packed (obviously this lunch place is no hidden gem) but we ordered and were served quickly and easily. I ordered the house cobb salad, which came with feta instead of gorgonzola cheese (love), egg, tomatoes, sprouts, and vegetarian bacon bits. Even as a meat eater I'm usually cool with meat substitutes, although these bacon bits pretty much just tasted like red salt. But, the rest of the salad was absolutely delicious, and the portion was very generous! The salad felt light yet still filling and satisfying. You can choose from a number of salad dressings - I chose the tahini dressing which was creamy (though I don't think it has dairy) and sweet. My lunchmates also had salads, and although my husband isn't the biggest salad guy, he was also very satisfied with his lunch. He also got a smoothie - another specialty of the restaurant - and was pleased with his choice. I walked away feeling good like I would still be able to fit into that dress I was planning to wear to the wedding that night. Nature's Grill is a perfect balance of healthy and delicious.

I love love love this place. If I could eat here all the time I would. Fresh and organic what's not to love? The natural burger is my go-to, it's got sprouts! But this time I got the tostada salad on baked chiapti. The brown rice was cold but the black beans were piping hot... why?! It was still delicious though, just didn't have any rice. Crunchy jicama, carrots over lettuce with two huge dollops of guacamole. I got extra salsa instead of dressing, suuuuper good! Their turkey burger is also worth a try. Oh, don't leave without a carrot shake. I'm serious.

Okay, so I give it 5 stars. It's not like it's on the beach, filled with bikini girls, or that you get a massage while you eat here. But the energy is great, healthy, quality ingredients are used, and the service is so nice. The place is kept immaculate, the portions are large, and they have the best ^%$# (darn) tofu ever -- that I can't help to order the Veggie Stirfry with Tofu ($9.99) nearly every time. For it's type of place, it's really terrific. In my teens, my father owned a healthy food restaurant, and I helped to build it from the ground up. We did a great job (I think), but didn't make it successfully...and closed after 3 years or so. In our dreams, we would have liked to be as good and successful as The Nature's Grill appears to be.

My family and I normally come here at least 3 times a month. Turkey burger is fab. Pass on the halibut; it's dry, rubbery and horrible. Definitely not worth waiting 24 minutes for while seeing plate after plate get served. Workers aren't very polite either. :-/

Having eaten a lot of veggie/vegan cuisine in my day, I cannot give Nature's Grill a strong review. We ordered the Yogi Special (ginger soy sauce + tofu) and the veggie chili. I'm giving 2 stars because the chili was quite nice--won't knock your socks off, but very simple, tasty (tastes like a well followed, generic recipe). The restaurant is clean and the girl who took out orders was friendly and helpful. The Yogi special was just bad, plain awful. We're guessing they used a tofu press and then marinated the raw tofu in ginger soy marinade for a fortnight. WAY TOO MUCH MARINADE. I love salty/sodium, but this was some next level saltiness. And the accompanying salad was both bland and sour. Blah. This dish could have been at least mediocre, but it just was overkill. Last criticism: music was random and kind of annoying. Some people may dig the beach boys greatest hits at 11am, I am not one of those ppl. UB40 was kinda cool. I'm hopeful that their other dishes are better :)

I had lunch with my dear niece today and this is where she wanted to go. I had the fish tacos, she had the Chicken Ceasar. She loved her salad, said it was great and it was a nice portion. I had the fish tacos with rice and black beans. On the plate, it all looked great. The fish was cooked well and I felt good about eating it, but it all tasted the same with no layers of flavor and no spice. I might as well have been chewing on cardboard. Inexpensive, no service kind of place that isn't high on my list of places I'd return to. 4.0 for Nicole's salad 2.5 for my food 2.0 for service 3.0 overall

Very friendly, inviting natural-foods restaurant with a broad menu full of choices for vegetarians, vegans, and meat-eaters too. (Mostly chicken/fish.) Lots of by-the-glass wines available including organics. Good-sized portions and a great value for the price (meal for two adults and our child was under $40 and I had a glass of wine and my husband had a bottle of beer.) Soup of the day when we were there was mushroom barley which doesn't sound amazing, but it was AMAZING. My seven year old stole my bowl halfway through and wouldn't let me have anymore because she loved it so much. Counter service, seat-yourself with plenty of tables to sit and eat, a bit slow because everything is cooked to order.

Not that this place needs any more positive reviews, but toooo bad! I'm having my say! Favorites of mine here include: *Sauteed tofu *Old Town Salad *Local favorite sandwich *Veggie juice w/ carrot, celery, and beets I'm sure they have other great finds on the menu, but I can't ever bring myself to steer to far from these. They're just that good! The tuna's also good in a variety of dishes, as are the soups, which vary by day. They are usually filling, flavorful, and texturally appealing. The food here overall works well together. The flavors are thought out and bring each other out in a dish. I'd want to eat here every day if it weren't so far away.

If I could put negative stars, I would. I have heard such good things about Nature's grill, I thought I'd try it. So my boyfriend and I went on a date and it was the worse experience of my life. The cashier was adorable and very sweet and patient. We ordered and sat down, but I couldn't help but notice there was a line starting to back up and there was only one cashier until I notice another blonde associate on the clock but chatting with her friend at a booth. Which in my eyes, is a no no especially when you have a resturant full of people. We waited not too long for our food, then the blonde comes around the corner, so extremely rudely and drops our food on the table. While she is THROWING our food down on the table, she is still in the middle of her conversation with her friend from earlier. No thank you, or asking us if it's the right order, asking if we needed anything else, etc. Extremely rude service. Then my boyfriend bites into his chicken sandwhich and has to force swallow because it is so dry and so gross. I have never seen my boyfriend refuse food, my potobellum mushroom was good until the middle which turned into like a chewing never ending gum, which is gross. My boyfriend is very sweet and never wants to have conflict, so he didn't want me to talk to the manager and I honestly just wanted to get out of that place. I work two jobs and he works as well, so we never get to have date nights and Nature's Grill definitely ruined the dinner portion. I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN. TERRIBLE FOOD AND TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!

Would have given a 5 star rating, but my sandwich was too messy! I got the grilled chicken pita. The flavors were great. However, they jammed so much darn lettuce into half a pita, that i had to pick most of the chicken out by my fingers to eat. Charge $.50 more and split the sandwich fixings into two pita halves. Having nothing but lettuce in the bottom of the sandwich is kind of a letdown at the end of the meal. But like i said before, the flavors inside were excellent. I cant believe it took me this long to eat there. Will be back again for sure.

I come here at least twice a month for lunch, dinner, or take out. Whats best about this place is that it is consistent. I 100% recommend the zen burger or the caesar salad but there are a lot of other great options as well! Come her for casual, convenient dinning.

Normally good But here's what happened. They offered me a sample of soup. It was good. I tried to order from the menu listing soup and 1/2 salad. I try to place order. Every salad I chose was not allowed. Nowhere on the menu does it say some salads and sandwiches exempted. Next I try to order soup and half sandwich. Again I am denied my top 4 choices for sandwiches. I left annoyed without placing order. Just put it in the menu versus expecting me to be a mind reader. If I was a gambler..., all 8 of my bets on salad and sandwiches were losers. Left without getting anything!

I've had the fish tacos, super natural platter, multiple salads, turkey burger, yogi special and a couple more items from the menu. I have never left upset. Sautéed tofu is amazing. The rice and beans are great. The blue corn tortilla chips, with salsa, yeah... Place is good and healthy.

This place is busy. Great place to grab food on weekends. Downtown ventura. Tried the California Turkey melt ($10) and Tostada salad $8. The melt was ok, but the tostada salad wasn't very good. Overall, very average food. Passionfruit ice tea $2 ok.

Wow... this place is just plain GOOD. After walking up and down main street, my friends and I were at a loss of what to eat. I've seriously never seen so many Thai restaurants on one street... We had almost lost all hope until we came here! HUGE selection of food. You order at the counter and sit down. They'll bring you the food. They had warm and cold foods from pasta to sandwiches to salads. They definitely had options. I ended up getting black bean enchiladas. They also have dressings here for salads that you don't find at other restaurants. This place has HUGE portions. And a lot of seating, but it's normally taken because this place is crowded. This is a very casual place. Though it's crowded, everything is actually pretty efficient. The food here is also well-priced. You get huge portions for under $10 which include salads. You gotta be HUNGRY to finish it all. They will also let you use their bathroom (which other places on this street apparently don't let you do).

Generic. Bland. The Menu was all over the place; asian, american, tex-mex. Suggestion: decide what you want to be and "be" it good. The menu write-ups were way better than the food. But thanks for offering vegan options. It's a start.

Taking a day trip to Ventura from LA with my husband and parents, we walked up and down Main St. to find a good place for lunch. Not being familiar with the area, we decided to go to whatever restaurant looked popular with locals - follow the locals, right? Nature's Grill was packed and the menu looked nice and affordable, so we decided to go there for our meal. Our lunch was indeed cheap, which is great, but the good things pretty much end there. The food was mediocre to say the least. Three of us ordered fish tacos with the extra side dish of beans and/or rice, and one of us got the chicken tacos with rice and beans. We also got a rancho salad to share among the four of us. The fish tacos were completely flavor-less. The fish was overcooked, dry and badly seasoned (or rather, not seasoned at all), not to mention there was little actual fish in them. The chicken tacos were mediocre as well. The rice and beans were also completely tasteless and lacking any seasoning. Based on other people's reviews, it seems that this place is very health conscious which is nice, but in my book, healthy doesn't equal blandness and complete lack of seasoning. The rancho salad was the best part, I just wish there was more chicken in it, as there were no more than 5-6 pieces of chicken in it. Judging from the small amounts of meat/fish in our dishes, we all felt like this place was skimping on meat. We wouldn't have had a problem paying $2-3 extra per dish for a more decent amount of meat and fish in our dishes. I couldn't help comparing this place with Duke's in Malibu, where you can get the most delicious and flavor rich fish tacos in the same price range, and almost felt ripped off. To top it all off, we were not impressed with service in this place. Maybe because the restaurant was very busy, but our food took a long time to come out, and the worst part: they made a mistake when taking the order leaving me without my order of fish tacos (we ordered 3 servings - two with just rice as a side and one with rice and beans, but they only had us down for two - I guess they didn't realize we said two plus one, so they skipped the "plus one"). At that point my husband offered to share his fish tacos with me, but after I took two bites I was completely unimpressed, so I ended up eating the rancho salad that we had originally ordered for the four of us to share. I'm glad people love this place, but as far as we are concerned, we are definitely not going back next time we're in Ventura.

When I am here and not close to Follow Your Heart, it's the healthiest alternative, although nowhere near as good, with as many choices. Although I think their enchiladas are amazing, there isn't anything organic on the menu. I know most people don't think of this, but salad's are chalk full of pesticides, and are one of the "dirty dozen." I guess I'm asking too much, but it would really make it one step up in my rating if they did at least offer it as an option. I'd pay the difference. OK, so this is an update. I went to the Nature's Grill and wanted to sit at a table. A number was on it for 15 minutes. I asked the manager, and he said he was "Holding" it for someone who called. This is ridiculous. This is a sit down NO reservation restaurant. Anyways, two women came in asked a young server, who said, OK, and took the table. It was really silly.

One of my favorite restaurants in Ventura. Each time we're in Ventura, we try to stop in. It's clean, great staff, and lots of varied choices. I'm not a vegetarian and neither is my wife, but we both eat lots of vegetables -- more than meat. So the fact that the restaurant virtually caters to this quasi-vegetarian, natural foods cuisine is perfect for us. All the sandwiches, burritos, and dishes we've tried have been original and tasty. I wish there were more places like this restaurant.

My favorite go-to restaurant in Downtown Ventura. Check the Ventura Coupon Clipper for buy 1 entrée get one 1/2 off. Best Coffee in Ventura - Try their Organic French Roast, and I bet you can't stop at one cup. My favorite 2 entrees: Old Town Salad - salad greens, warm brown rice, shredded carrots, feta cheese, tomato and an ice-cream scoop of fresh guacamole on top WITH their Tahini dressing. This sounds like a weird combination but it's a match made in food heaven. Super-Natural Platter - corn bread base topped with beans, rice, and veggies all covered in gooey cheddar cheese - this IS the ultimate in comfort food. 20 minutes into this dish and you're only half-way there - but you can't stop because it tastes too damn good. Seriously, I've only eaten these 2 dishes and haven't tried anything else because they are soooooooooooo freakin good.

The food is good and healthy. I wouldn't recommend bringing a meat and potato type of person here, my dad hated it lol but if you're into health or a vegetarian you'll love it. Their smoothies are really good and I really like their vegan hot dog, burger and falafel. I love coming here to get a delicious vegan meal and some soy ice cream mmm.

Soo good you have to try it! If you like eatting healthy fish, vegetarian, sandwiches, salads, fruit drinks they have it all! There isnt wait staff you go up place your order then go grab your own water, silverware, and condiments before sitting down. They will bring you your food when its ready.

I had the Old Town Salad with chicken which was a little pricey but sooo delicious and so healthy. I licked that bowl clean. This is one of those places where you order at the counter and they deliver!

Not my favorite place in Ventura to eat but they have decent vegan/vegetarian options when you're desperate and starving or going out with a big group of people. I usually get the nachos or enchiladas. They also have pretty good smoothies. The staff is also really nice so that's a plus.

Favorites are the Cobb Salad with tahini dressing and the Zen Burger. Also their soup is always good. Fast, friendly, comfortable and with really good grub. Perfect spot to grab quick bite before heading across the street for a movie. Park in parking garage and enter restaurant through the back door. Oh - also - their salsa is great too.

Love this place! Tonight was our first time visiting this place and it won't be our last.. My husband had the fajita burrito with verde sauce and I had the greek salad with chicken. Both meals were excellent and just the right size. You order at the register and they bring your food, after that, you probably won't see the waitress again. The water, silverware and condiments are serve yourself. Our meal was just over $20. I can't wait to return.

Nature's Grill is becoming our Lunch Break Place on road trips between the Bay Area and L.A. This was our 3rd visit, and we've loved it each time. We originally found it thanks to Yelp, looking for an interesting stop not far off the freeway, and now we plan our trip time to have lunch here! Our Go To meal includes the Falafel pita (his regular sandwich here), the Primo Pesto (comes with garlic bread. I find the pasta mushy, but DS loves it and the pesto is good)), and the kids pasta (DD loves it--just penne pasta with great-tasting cheese, with blue corn chips and salsa). This time I got the sandwich special: a turkey with pesto aoli, grilled onion, roasted peppers, and cheese. Wonderful. We tried the creamy asparagus soup, which had a great asparagus flavor. We always get a chocolate shake as dessert, and it never disappoints--creamy and chocolately. The service is friendly and accomodating (this time, they traded chips for soup with the sandwich order!). The restaurant is busy, but the tables turn quickly and the assistant works hard to clear/clean tables and is glad to help seat you. The vibe is just right, with nature/green/environment decor and colorful local art. A favorite place.

I was really obsessed with Urbane Cafe's salads before I came to this place, but Nature's Grill is JUST as good, if not better. Their salads are healthier in my opinion. My favorite is the Old Town Salad with tahini dressing. It has brown rice, feta cheese, & guacamole. Their cream of broccoli soup is amazing too (less creamy, more broccoli). Prices are very friendly too - about $6-7 for a large salad. Most of their items are vegetarian, but there's always an option to add meat. Plenty of seating inside, with a nature-y atmosphere to it.

I've become so enamored with Nature's Grill that I find it hard to visit Ventura without paying it a visit. The Old Town Salad with Sauteed Tofu is probably one of the best salads I've ever had. I order it with Tahini dressing on the side, but the salad alone is so perfect that it doesn't even need the dressing. (I just enjoy the tahini so much that I tend to dip my finger in every now and then....or if someone at my table happens to have the blue corn tortilla chips, I'll use the tahini as a dipping sauce for those.) The Zen Burger is also hardy and flavorful and will leave you amazed that you didn't eat any meat. Though I have yet to try everything on the menu, I'm fairly confident that Nature's Grill will surely provide you with a healthy, fell-good meal! I also enjoy the fresh juices that you can create, as well as the fruit-tastic smoothies. I have yet to try the milkshakes, both dairy and non-dairy, but I'm sure it won't be long before I do. Nature's Grill also manages to source the most delicious, locally made desserts and pastries, a stand-out being the banana (cream?) cake. Yum!!

My friend and I were driving slowly along Main St. trying to figure out what to eat for dinner when we passed Nature's Grill and decided to take a look inside. We checked the menu and decided to stay: it's VERY vegetarian/vegan friendly, has a welcoming atmosphere, and the women working the registers were really nice. Big problem: what to order?! Everything looked so delicious, and even though we'd agreed to split entrees, narrowing our choices to just two took a while; we ended up with a burrito and a veggie burger. We ordered at the counter, stopped by the big array of bottles of condiments and picked up what we needed, then waited a very reasonable amount of time for our food. And it was really good. As mentioned by Syd, the burrito wasn't at all Mexican-style so much as hippie-style, with broccoli (yuck!), zucchini, and other veggies inside, but I liked it. It was also enormous, and had a generous amount of guacamole on top. The house-made ranch dressing was really good on the side salad, and I liked the burger too. Sadly, we were too full for a blueberry milkshake (available in soy!). Kinda bummed I'm never in the area so I can go try their other entrees.

I went here with a few folks from work. I ordered the eggplant sandwich and a friend ordered one with chicken. We were both impressed...mine was very good and his was "great". I will definitely be back! Other notes: very casual atmosphere. Order at counter and have your food brought out; no other table service.

Vegetarian Tamale & Veggie Tacos For a quick lunch, nature Grill is okay. I will say that the service leaves a lot to be desired - the woman at the counter didn't seem very interested in being there, and talked very quietly during a seemingly busy/loud time of day. Now, for the food. We split the two entrees and had a little of each. And by a little, I mean the portions were pretty small to begin with. The tamale's texture was a tad off - sort of grainy, and it fell apart easily. The tacos were the redeemers of the meal. They had a lot of unexpected, yet deliciously seasoned vegetables including zucchini and broccoli in a delicious smattering of soy-ginger sauce. A little dry, but the different flavors played well together and it left us feeling satisfied. All-in-all, an all right experience, but I don't think I would go back.

Nature's Grill is the one place I ALWAYS go when I visit Ventura. Although not strictly a vegetarian restaurant, it has a ton of veg entrees and does it better than almost anywhere else. Vegetarian entrees often feel like big side dishes, or places load up their entrees with cheese to mask the fact that there's no meat, but this place does not do either. Entrees are a complete, thoughtful meal, and most entrees have little dairy. One thing that I don't think gets ordered often are their shakes and smoothies, + their carrot shake is the BEST. It tastes like pumpkin pie. Definitely eat here; you'll fall in love.

Nice utilitarian "health food" restaurant. I've certainly had better but this place is charming, clean and serves good sized portions. They could stand to swap out Veganaise for the mayo and make some other such changes to make the food a little healthier or low calorie. It's kind of like a 1970's idea of health food, reminiscent of The Good Earth, they even have squaw bread -- don't think I've seen squaw bread since The Good Earth went out of biz. All sandwiches come with fried tortilla chips. I'd rather have some Asian slaw, salad or fruit on the side as an option, or even grilled potatoes. They have unlimited filtered water and lemon slices for customers. Very nice. Again, the food is good but a little dated in concept. Natural and health food has progressed a lot in the last 30 years and they could benefit from some "modernization" of the menu.

Went to Nature's Grill after hiking in the Botanical Garden. I liked the atmosphere, it was friendly, clean, and cheerful. I got the stuffed baked potato with chicken, avocado, and a side salad. My daughter got the fish tacos, and a salad. They have so many salads, people at the other tables had a variety of them, and they all looked good. The food tasted fresh and healthy, much appreciated after the holiday season of over indulging, and after a long hike. They had shakes, smoothys, and good looking desserts, but we didn't have room for them this time. We just got drinks from the fridge. I wish there were more places like this to eat, that make me feel healthy.

A Vegetarian's dream! The food is fresh and delicious. There are so many tasty choices on the menu! Many items have avocado- YUM! My favorite is the Local Favorite Sandwich, toasted. Its almost always packed when I go here, so be sure to enlist a friend to grab a table as soon as you walk in.

I was visiting Ventura and wanted some fresh food. I work at a Vegan cafe in Az and am always paying attention to new places that are healthy and fresh. I went to natures grill for some lunch and they cashier girl was chomping on her gum and literally on her cell phone texting when I walked up. I ordered and within two seconds of me finishing my order she was back on her phone texting. I was really annoyed with the lack of customer service there was. Other than that, the food is excellent.

It didn't AMAZE me but it was good! I appreciate healthy meals and don't eat out much so i would consider myself to have very sensitive taste buds.. Came last night with a few friends after a tough workout so i was extreeemely hungry Order the CARROT SHAKE. It sounds weird but it was amazing! Nonfat froyo, nutmeg, cinnamon, and carrot. The SWEET POTATO SOUP with bread was also veryyyyy yummy! (fave) I also ordered the PB&HONEY SANDWICH, that was okay, no special bread, considering it came off the kids menu but hey i couldn't resist :p Also tried the grilled EGGPLANT SANDWICH, was kind of funky tasting after the cheese had ran out in the sandwich-won't order again. I also got the sauteed tofu-blehhh they were wayyyy too salty in my opinion! It was a good portion size too but yuck i only ate one square. In total everything I ordered came out to $25 which is pretty good considering the amount of food i bought! I was hungry okay! My friend ordered the CHICKEN WRAPPED IN PITA, had a bite and it tasted just how it looked, pretty plain. My other friend ordered the salmon and it wasn't dry so that was good... As my last comment i would have to say that it is a shame that they do not provide the nutritional content on the menu or on the side considering a lot of HEALTH CONSCIOUS FREAKS (referring to me) eat there, just saying.

Been coming here for years. Stop here on any trips to Ventura or points north of there. It is great for lunch or dinner. One of the best veggie burgers around. If you like healthy, vegetarian friendly, hippy style food.... well make sure you stop here.

I got a portobello mushroom sandwich and my friend got a chicken sandwich, the girl at the register was rude and seemed annoyed that we were there. It took about 20 minutes for our sandwiches which I thought took too much time..also it says they close at 9 but the girl out the closed sign up at 830 and turned down a group of people that arrived as she was putting up the sign. The sandwich was awesome and I'm craving it now but the service sucked.

This place is good! And I like meat. So I ordered the turkey burger, as did my friend. My cousin had some soy burger that she swears by and I didn't taste. I did try their lemon-herb dressing and it was delicious, very lemon-y. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our turkey burgers (he said it's the best he ever had), they were juicy, hearty and well flavored. I got mine without thousand island and substituted the house salsa, which is pretty good and not spicy, as well as added Swiss cheese. Not only was the food good, the people watching was amazing. Quite the group of characters and the place was pretty busy.

I heard from my boyfriend this place was talked about constantly and all good news. I finally tried it while having a few beers across the street at the Good Bar. I needed to refill my tank and didn't want anything heavy or greasy. I had the turkey burger and it was the best turkey burger I had ever had. They are very reasonable, personable, and fast! Worth it if you are in Ventura at any time.

Let me start out by saying that yes the food here is good. I've had sandwiches from the local favorite to pita to this and that. I have not been disappointed by any of the sandwiches really good, especially when they come with a side of humus and salsa, good good good! Their soups however are a must, I've had their tortilla, potato, and asparagus soup, WOW, texture and flavor is really good, not been disappointed. Let me criticize something, as much as I love the food, I hate the name. "Natures Grill" are we kidding, can the owner have some creativity to get another name. I understand that you are trying to market this food as healthy, but you don't have to be very literal, let your consumers decide that. The name actually gets to me. But this is a cosmetic thing, nothing to do with the food so you guys can ignore this comment. Big props to the lady that always takes are order. You know when someone is being genuinely nice as appose to fake nice, when it's awkward that means they are being truly nice, and this lady definitely gives that nice Aura.

Natures always seems to hire great staff with a good attitude. At least they do a really good job of being polite even when they are swamped. I have been eating here for at least 3 years, and have eaten most of the dishes a couple to a few times over, the quality is always the same, and that is what keeps me coming. Sadly (but good for Natures) they make better mexican dishes than some of the local mexican restaurants, that really keeps me coming back.

To be totally honest I've only ever been here once, but I was unimpressed. The food was just ok. I ordered a salad and I've had better salads from McDonalds. It was bland and boring. The staff was unpleasant and not helpful at all. Normally I'd be willing to give a restaurant a second try, but I also found it to be very dirty. When I went in all of the tables were dirty and many still had plates on them. There was no excuse since I didn't even go in during a busy time. I'd say skip it and enjoy something vegetarian from anywhere else.

Been there twice now...found the food very plain and bland. I had the chicken avocado sandwich today. It was nothing to write home about. I found the young female help to be very rude. Surely will not be going back.

What can I say about this place that hasn't already been said, it just simply has excellent food. It made me believe that a Sandwich doesn't need meat in it to be exceptional. I've tried a couple of their sandwiches and sampled other items and I haven't been disappointed by any. My favorites have been the Portabella Mushroom sandwich and an artichoke based soup. Fresh, flavorful and simply great. For excellent healthy food, pay this place a visit.

Been going here for 7 years now. Hit it about once a week. Good, healthy, natural, place to eat. You can go here, not spend a lot of money and still have a great meal. I prefer the chicken pita with feta cheese! My wife get the Old Town salad pretty much every time. Ingredients are ALWAYS fresh here. I don't like soup, but order whatever soup they have that day every time I go - Amazing! Service is always good and friendly!

I love this place!! I order to-go on a weekly basis because I work at a neigboring business downtown; they are always quick and accurate with timing and their customer service is friendly. They have a great healthy menu selection that I can appreciate and I love that they have outdoor seating for the days I'm riding my bike around downtown and want to park outside for some good food with friends! Perfect location on Main St

This place is my favorite lunch spot in Ventura. I'm a healthy person and I always feel good about myself after I leave this place because there are so many healthy, delicious meals. The serve is awesome too! If you like tofu, salad, veggie lasagna, healthy Mexican food, then your in luck. If you like fried, fatty food this place is not for you. Honestly best veggie lasagna I have ever eaten. If you get a salad try the tahini dressing...it's amazing. The enchiladas are super good too.

I came here after trying on Sunday night to go to a busy vegan place around the corner. There were other customers, but it was by no means busy. I chose the Yogi Plate (brown rice, salad, marinated tofu). It arrived promptly. The salad was delicious. The tofu was flavorful, but too salty for me. The portions were generous and I was able to save half for the next day's lunch. I will come back and try something else!

  • Erin B.

The first star is for the service the second is for the location, other than that Nature's Grill doesn't have much to offer. It used to be my favorite place.. when I was 14. But now my taste has grown and I can't go on pretending I still like the food there. The food is bland, dry, flavorless and they are super skimpy on the cheese and spreads. The price outweighs the value and the only reason it gets so much business is because it's a trendy hub for wanna-be hippies. Nature's Grill has potential, they have a great staff, all they need is a major menu makeover that will put some flavor in those boring dishes.

Passed by Ventura on my way back from Santa Barbara. Wanted something healthy, fast, and delicious. Nature's Grill was a pleasant surprise. The Buddha Burrito almost made you forget there's no meat in it. Great combination of freshly grilled veggies, brown rice, cheese, and sauce all topped with a "healthy" dollop of sour cream and guacamole. Who knew that broccoli could taste so good in a burrito? If you're looking for a traditional tex-mex spot, this isn't the place for you. But if you want something filling, flavorful, and full of nature's goodness, you'll want to stop by for a nosh.

I'm almost never in Ventura, but whenever my boyfriend and I roll into town we always stop here. This place is vegan-friendly, crunchy, cozy, has a big menu, and serves great food. I had their falafel the first time I stopped in and on my second (most recent) visit I tried their tostada salad. All delicious, all fresh, all with vegan options. If you're in the area and are looking for a nice place to relax and have some good all-natural food as a decent price, check this place out!

Wow! Went here with two vegans, a gluten allergy, onion allergy, a carnivore and a picky eater (me). Everyone loved this place! It was the best falafel I have ever had and everyone was right about the tahini sauce! Yum!

  • Kate P.

I don't usually notice things like this, but the staff was REALLY friendly. Maybe it's just because it's a small town, but I really felt like the cashiers were extra sweet. I went to nature grill because I was looking for something that was both healthy and tasty. . . The room itself is a little dark(which is kinda weird at lunch time), but very open and airy with lots of seating. I had the Spinach Salad with grilled chicken. The salad itself was delicious, the (veggie)bacon bits melded perfectly with the feta and artichokes. Every bite was different and the flavors were great. The chicken on the other hand was pretty dry, even after I doused it with the tahini dressing. I would definitely come back. It's a great price, next time I'll put more thought into my protein choice.

I was introduced to Nature's Grill by a friend while I was out visiting Ventura. I was thrilled to find a really fantastic place that has plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. Now I try to make it to Nature's Grill each time I am in town. The restaurant itself is always clean and the decor inviting. The service is fast and the staff is friendly. Everything I have ordered here has been OMG amazing and I leave feeling satisfied and happy. Since the food is very healthy I never leave feeling overly full or heavy. Yay for good clean eating! Ventura is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots to visit...for many reasons, this restaurant being on the top of the list.

Love, love, love! This is my favorite place to go for a leisurely lunch. If you're in a huge rush, you might try this another time. The menu is wonderful, with a nice variety of options. The decor is quirky, with local artistry and the space is welcoming!

My Father, Uncle, Cousin and myself went to Nature's Grill because of dietary requirements of the different family members. The restaurant had something for every single one of us. The good was great and the freshness of the vegetable was good as well. Everyone one of use was happy with the food and the price we paid.

I've been coming here on and off for years. I can taste the fresh lemon tahini dressing over their side salad that happily features jicama root right now as I write this. A little bit of confusion in the past few years, they separated from the franchise or something. Anyway, it only effected me in one, super-positive way -- while the other restaraunts (westlake, SB) no longer carry something called the Macro Wrap, this one does. I could eat that peanutty, beany, delicious health bomb daily. Get the peanut butter smoothie sometime. If you eat meat the burritos are ok, but not like local mexican burritos, they're hippy burritos. Which is fine, but just don't expect one when you're getting the other. The sneakiest dish is probably the Mr. Natural. Looks so bland (steamed veggies and rice) but tastes DELISH.

Went to lil' ol' Ventura to meet up with friends and ate an incredibly salty and not-so-healthy meal across the street on Saturday night. Big mistake. Longingly looking over at "Nature's Grill", I knew my next morning's breakfast destination was a done deal. WOO-HOO!!! Morning hardly came soon enough. lol I chose the amazingly delicious Buddha Burrito: Brown rice, pinto beans, sauteed *fresh* veggies in a light and fresh ginger sauce, wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla, smothered in sauce and topped with cheese, awesome guacamole (Yay, garlic!) and sour cream. The added bonus of a lovely little side salad with red onion, jicama, carrots etc and tahini dressing? SO great. Everything had perfect texture, flavor and was FRESH. My friend ordered the tuna sandwich, loved it but loved my meal more! lol Yup, that buddha burrito deserves a special trip to Ventura... Oh - cherry on top of the meal: the espresso shake with soy ice cream! We split one (they thoughtfully put it into 2 glasses - so these servers are 'on it'!) - I don't know how they made it, but it was Deeeeelicious. I'm inspired. :) Love that there are more healthy options out there. Keep rockin' Nature's Grill!!!

Yum! I love this place. Vegan and vegetarian friendly, yet also provides options for meat-eaters. First time there, the cashier gave my table a free sample of a vegan peanut butter cup shake - it was amazing! There are steamed options if you are trying to avoid fried food. Casual, cheap, tasty and healthy.

we-ell... The food is quite wholesome; no mystery meaty ingredients lurking here. And the portions are generous. That said, the food is really really bland. I got the baked potato-veggie combo with tahini sauce, and even with the full ramekin of sauce on it, it was flavorless. I borrowed some of my husband's feta (from his felafel) and dug up some salt (since we had takeout). I still only ate half. When we were there to pick up our food (at 9 pm), the place was packed and incredibly noisy. Oh, word to the wise: don't get a Hain's natural soda from the refrigerated case. They're $2.50 a CAN! (You can get a 6-pack for around that price). Definitely a throwback to the "vegetarian cooking is wholesome and boring" days.
