    My husband and I came here last night for dinner. I ordered a crab sandwich and was told I was only on the lunch menu. The waitress said she would ask if they could make it for me and the owner/kitchen agreed. That was the biggest mistake o could have made. My sandwich was not super tasty and had thin full slices of lemon inside. I ordered onion rings and got five. My husband ordered the seafood special which was very skimpy. We were each charged $23 for our dinners which is steep for a crab sandwich (my go to at these types of places). The worst part was the food poisoning when I got home. I was horribly sick the entire night. I will never step foot in this establishment again.

    Went there Mother's day. Food was good. Our server was excellent, the lady bartender. I'm giving 4 star because they over booked, then refused to look at the reservation list. They told everyone we're not doing reservation anymore. Made everyone stand in line to be seated.

    Went here for a friend's birthday party. The decor was nice the layout great. Live piano was a nice touch too. The food was ok, not something I would say was worth the price. The bathroom was overflowing with trash and obviously not cleaned enough for the number of people. The worst part was paying. An hour and a half from the time I tried getting my check. They told us "large parties are only one check.". It's 2015, very few people carry a lot of cash with them anymore. Some of our party had to walk to the nearest bank. The waitress avoided eye contact or talking to anyone. If your bookeeping skills are so bad, simply put an ATM by the entrance. They are lucky they put a mandatory 18% gratuity cause with that service I would have left none. If you want a nice looking place to get robbed and held hostage for your check this is the place for you.

    My favorite place to come on a Friday night. My favorite is the seafood pasta and I love that you get ice cream with the dinner option. Only 4 stars because sometimes the wait is long even though you can see empty tables with no one sitting there but the staff reassures you that they will get to you.

    Fantastic atmosphere, very good food and people who really care. Great stop for the family; kid friendly but with a piano player to enjoy and very nice setting on the water. Great pizza and wonderful menu has something for everyone.

    They claim there New York Steak is high quality USDA. It was as hard as a London Broil. My Wife took 1 bite and asked me what I thought so I took 1 bite when the waitress came back around she asked if we needed anything I asked her if she was sure that this steak was a New York, which she stated it was. I told her they are not too Quality then because it's the hardest New York we have ever had. She took it back and asked if my wife wanted something else. When she returned to our table she said the Manager was willing to take half off the bill because she had eaten half of it, 2 bites. Didn't touch the vegetables or potatoes. The manager refused to talk to us. Told the waitress she was to busy. Restaurant was almost empty. Over priced and poor quality food.

    This is among the least favorable eating experiences I've had. The food was mediocre (sub-par for the price), the service was excruciatingly slow, and the condition of the place left much to be desired. The interior, though it looks like someone once cared for it, now feels like a cafeteria. The view is nice, however, to get into the restaurant, we had to walk past an overflowing dumpster area, which is not 50 feet from the entrance. Generally, I would not blame the restaurant for this, but the dumpster is part of the building, and it was left half out, with the gate open. Not sure about you, but walking past a pile of rotting food and a swarm of flies is not my favorite when I'm anticipating waterfront dining. We mostly ordered Italian fare, and found ourselves wishing we had just baked a Stouffer's lasagna at home or gone to olive garden. The waiters were a mixed bag of friendly and brusque, the tables and chairs looked like donations from the local school cafeteria, and the floors were dirty. The dining experience left much to be desired, and we will not be back. My advice would be to skip it and go to Olive Garden or Black Angus. If you want a waterfront view, then get Olive Garden to go, drive to the waterfront. and eat on one of the benches, or on a picnic blanket.

    Last night we celebrated my parents 60th anniversary. We couldn't ask for better food and service. Tran made this experience seamless from beginning to end. The staff were very helpful and saw to all of our needs. Michelle was a great bartender and kept everyone happy. We would highly recommend the front room for a casual night out or special event!! THANKS! !

    4/24/15 My boyfriend & I ordered the Cioppino seafood soup that had clams, prawns, scallops, and muscles. At the bottom of my boyfriend's soup was his last clam that was almost closed, but still had a gap. He opened it & it was FILLED WITH SAND & DIRT. We immediately called the manager over & she kept saying, "It's okay, you won't die. I picked it up myself this morning." Okay, it doesn't matter when you picked it or where you picked it. As a chef, you should know that if the clam isn't completely open, not all the sand has came out nor isn't it cooked. She ended up taking it off the bill, but I didn't appreciate how she kept saying he wasn't going to die. Yes, it wasn't going to kill him, but she made it seem as if it wasn't a big deal & it happens all the time. My boyfriend still wants me to give 5 stars because the food is good & she ended up apologizing at the very end... & after he threw up... & after 20 minutes. I will come back & order the same thing, but check all the clams first :) 5/10/15 I told you I would come back! :) I just want to follow up that we went back a couple weeks later for Mother's Day and the manager remembered my boyfriend, kept her word, and gave him his free meal just as promised. She showed much gratuity towards our party that day. I'll change my 4star rating to a 5star!

    We originally tried this place as a nicer seafood experience and was a little let down. Came back for drinks and appetizers and now we can stop coming back! Love this place and the staff so friendly always remember our drinks how we like them and the pizza is hands down the best pizza within driving distance! A must try as well as the shrimp cocktail, oysters, and Asian beef steak with cucumber salad- yum!

    Great place to go when you want somewhere inexpensive, on the water, not packed, and nice atmosphere in the Vallejo area. My review is from 15+ years of experience. I've been going to the Front Room since they were a little dinky restaurant on Redwood Street. # Their breadsticks are bomb diggity. # Don't waste your time with the pizza, unless you get a combo. But really - just enjoy the breadsticks and have something else as the entree. # Their burgers are yummy. # I spent years, YEARS, only getting their steak dinner # Their drunken chicken is popular # The seafood pasta is really good for the fair price # The bomb scene is poppin' during games and after work So there you have it. Easily the best sit-down restaurant in Vallejo.

    Great food! Awesome sunsets! Friendly attentive staff! What more could a person ask for from a seafood restaurant along the waterfront. Truly one of the hidden gems of Vallejo. If you're in town, I definitely recommend it! Seared Scallops & Prawns are my recommendation. But locals say it's the best pizza in town so you can't go wrong there either.

    The steak and burgers were overcooked and way too overpriced. The sprite was just carbonated water, with no sugar or flavor. I mean who does that. I usually don't write reviews, but today was a terrible experience. My server was very low energy and rude. She did not meet my standards.

    Margaritas were on point. Very excited that I got a Burger on an English muffin. I wanted to go healthier but seriously on an English muffin with Cheddar and bacon...had to have it. Also came with fries and watermelon. Staff is very friendly. I am the only one at the bar so I don't expect fast service. As I am a bartender/server as well and I understand there's more going on in the dining area right now. But overall very good food nice staff and hey being from Ohio I can't beat the view of the waterfront! Will be a returning customer.

    This is a nice date place. The outside is unwelcoming but the inside is very nice. It has a deck outside. Its beautiful to eat and see the sunset. They had a great selection. The food was good. I had to send the cocktail back because it was a little weak. Prices are very reasonable. Great place to catch dinner and then go for an evening stroll. There was a few large parties but the noise was not bad at all.

    We went here about two weeks ago with some friends that were from Finland. I am just now writing a review. Our waitress was new, and she did very good with our group. I was surprised as we were a bit confusing when we ordered and with separate bills at first then all together. She handled it all in stride. I did not get her name but I am sure she will have a good job there for a while. The food was very good and the location on the waterfront is awesome.

    First time here, went during lunch on a Thursday before catching the Vallejo Ferry and not to terribly busy. Exterior of the building could use a face lift but I think they're going with a nostalgia motif. With only 45 mins to eat lunch we ordered The Front Room Burger and Bacon Burger and both were good, would've been better if the bun wasn't overwhelming. Service was okay but seemed short staffed during lunch. Noticed the regular patrons getting a little more preferential treatment but hey, that's why they're regulars. Inside it seems dated but the floor to ceiling bay windows offer a nice scenery of the bay during the day. Small bar area with about 8-10 seats to have drink before being seated.

    My husband, daughter, and I have eaten at this restaurant many times. I must say that the food is amazing! My love affair with this place ended the second I went to work there! The owner/manager ( Chantal) is verbally and mentally abusive towards her employees, who do nothing but work really hard in attempts to make "her" restaurant profitable! Employees are expected to clock out at the same times every day whether they are finished with their sidework or not. They are then expected to finish their work off the clock. When we are hired, Chantal has us sign a form saying that we will comply. If we don't sign, we are not hired. THIS IS CRIMINAL!!!! Guests are attacked if they don't care for their entree, and try to send it back. They are told that all the food is made with the freshest ingredients and that there is no reson for them not to like their dish. I am urging everyone out there to NOT reward this despicable behavior!!!

    I've read mixed reviews of this place so I wasn't sure what to expect. Just came to watch the baseball game with a friend of mine and have a few beers. The view is beautiful. Like everyone else says it sits right on the water with a view of historic Mare Island. I ordered the mushroom burger with avocado and it was surprisingly good. The TV's are rather small so you have sit at the bar or bar area to watch the game. I like the place. Perfect for locals not wanting to leave town for a decent meal and drinks...but the view is perfect.

    Was waiting to be served for about 20+ minutes. I understand they were busy, but even the busiest of restaurants at least acknowledge their customers. They were very disorganized. I had to ask a few waiters walking by when someone would serve us and each one said in a minute... well, 20 minutes went by and they had lost 5 customers. Wouldn't recommend unless you have time to spare. I'm talking about a couple hours because while we were waiting the people at the table in front were seated from before we got there and didn't get their drinks until a minute before we were going to leave.

    Came here with a group of nine for lunch. I made a reservation 30 mins before arriving, which was probably a good thing since it was a full house. I ordered the seafood platter off of their specials menu. Great choice! I'm ready to return just for their crab cakes!! They have chunks of crab with little breading... Perfect!! I'm giving them four stars because I hope they improve their facility. Buckets hanging from the ceiling to catch leaks from the rain does not look very inviting. But the food (especially the crab cakes) is great and customer service was good.

    Went here on Mother's Day; were promptly seated! One of the only spots you can get a reasonable view in Vallejo. My favorite part of the Front Room experience are the fresh and warm breadsticks that you get as you are seated. Delicious with butter. The calamari and pasta dishes here are solid. Their pizza is up to par, but not amazing. And I haven't gotten a burger in awhile. All this to say, reasonably good service + decent prices make for a nice lunch option in the city by the city by the bay.

    Not worth it for the price. I had the surf n turf, steak was tasty and cooked to order (med rare) but the quality of cut was poor, very gamey and the surf portion was pretty good but only one scallop and 3 shrimps. I'd give 3 stars with 25% price cut

    Walking along the somewhat depressing Vallejo waterfront, we came upon the "Front Room at the Wharf". This place was very perplexing. The menu showed mainly steak and seafood faire, and it had SF Pier 39 prices, so we figured it was somethin' special and worth a go. I believe the tables are the same one used in my high school cafeteria. They do have wood chairs that look of commercial restaurant caliber. But overall the place had a bizarrely low-pride feel to the decor. After being seated at a window table, we got a chance to take in the view. Its water with some industrial stuff around. The restaurant window tables have a direct western exposure, so after about 5 minutes being blinded by the setting sun, a bus boy came over and lowered a huge blind for the window. Much better! But now I can't see anything. Still the lesser of two evils. I asked the waitress if they had anything gluten free - she had no idea what gluten even was. She made several trips back and forth to the kitchen to ask if certain dishes would be gluten-free. I ended up getting a bunless teriyaki burger with fries. Based on the interaction when ordering, I was only about 50% the fries were gluten free. The food arrived and it was a solid B. The teriyaki sauce tasted like out of the bottle Kikkoman. Nothing was bad, but nothing was good. The bill was steep. This would be a great place to bring a date, if you wanted a place to break up with them. Probably won't be back, but a fun experience while amongst the slim culinary pickings of Vallejo.

    Went here for dinner with a large group of friends. Based on the reviews, I was looking for a good dinner. I was indifference after the fact. I had the linguine with seafood in white sauce (cream). The pasta was a bit over-cooked. The cream sauce was light and not heavy; however the seasoning was so light and weak, though it has potential for a good sauce. It could use a little more sea salt. As for the seafood, they cheapened the dish with tiny canned baby clams and bay shrimps. There were only two average size prawns and two average size scallops. They used button mushrooms and it was not the right flavor nor texture for this dish. Cremini or portabella mushrooms would enhance the dish. Nice view but the food is mediocre.

    We had dinner here last night. After waiting 10 minutes without acknowledgement, we were seated. The restaurant appeared busy, but had plenty of empty tables. Our service was horrible. We were seated just prior to a table of 8. They were sat after us and their food had come out way before ours. They had a better server. The food was on the verge of inedible. The soup and bread were good. I had the seafood combo, I don't recommend it. It is shrimp and scallops smothered in a tomato cream sauce, nasty. When we were finally served it was by the chef/owner. I made a face on the appearance, she quickly asked what was wrong. I told her I didn't realize that it was covered in this sauce. She wanted to make it right, and made me a seafood scampi. It had tomatoes in it and an undercooked scallop, the shrimp left a bad taste in my mouth. Needless to say we won't be returning.

    Second time dining in for lunch. As always the food was delicious. The fried Calamari is still my favorite. The Alfredo fettuccine was creamy and utterly mouth watering. The New York cheesecake complimented the dinner great. The service was great and so was the staff. Very friendly!

    March 2014: Front Room at the Wharf [ facebook.com/MaggiesFood… If atmosphere is all it takes to enjoy a meal then this is it. The sunset was glorious. The food... well... let me start from the beginning. Upon seated we were served bread. The bread came in long sticks and was warm and inviting. It was very good bread, even without any butter. Clam Chowder: Another great-tasting Clam Chowder. I could taste the clam and that's major. The after taste lingers on and it's very good. Lobster Stuffed Portobello Mushroom: Besides finding lemon seeds in the food, the top was coated with cheese. This dish is nothing to write home about. Special of the day, Salmon: The Salmon was over-cooked but the sauce was superb. Special of the day, Prawns & Scallops on a bed of Spinach: My dish and I was very pleased with it. The sauce was buttery and a touch tangy. The scallops were done to perfection and the prawns fresh and plump. I LOVE IT! To top it off, our waiter, Jennifer was really nice.     I work walking distance from the front room and let me tell you I love their award-winning pizza. The service is always quick, courteous, and professional. Chanthol (lady in charge) is always making sure my visit is always pleasant. I love the cioppino and they're fantastic burgers. I would definitely recommend going to the Wharf and experiencing the Front Room.

    I took my daughter here recently for her birthday and I was a little shocked at the prices. I did read all of these reviews before going, so I had a general idea, but still they seemed high for the area - and I live there. The food was okay, nothing special. I am giving them two stars because, on the way out, I wanted to stop and use the ladies room but was stopped dead in my tracks when I saw a cockroach sitting near the top of the door. No thanks - if this is what I find on the outside of the bathroom door, I shudder to think what might be in the kitchen. They need a good exterminator.

    For Vallejo, I think Front Room deserves 3.5 stars. The area is relatively nice and safe for Vallejo. There is a big parking lot and is one of the closest restaurants to Mare Island, which is a huge plus. The service is outstanding. The bread basket (good bread sticks btw) and water were constantly refilled. The food is decent, but the prices are pretty high. For dinner with appetizers and drinks, you could easily be spending $40 a person for some very mediocre food. I had the famous drunken chicken which came with some potatoes and vegetables. The chicken was good but the potatoes were overly rich and the veggies were severely overcooked. The appetizers that I had (fried zucchini, antipasto, marinated artichoke hearts, some ceviche like dish, and fried calamari) are decent, but nothing special either. The New York steak sandwich was a little tough and required a knife and fork to get through the meat. But, the pizza was very good. Nice and crispy with quality toppings. Front Room is a decent place to get a meal, but don't expect anything amazing. It is overpriced for its mediocre food and pretty limited menu. But, it is a nice place to eat if you want to take a walk by the water afterwards. And I don't think the view is that great. Maybe it's because I live on Mare Island and I'm used to just looking at those old ships, but by no means is this view "of the water" a romantic date night view!

    Chantel has still got it! Amazing service and AMAZING food. Let's start with the view. This restaurant is literally located on the water with views of Mare Island and and ships docking. If you love crab cakes, be prepared to be spoiled as the crab cakes are a Maryland recipe filled with all fresh crab meat (no fillers) served with an outstanding aioli sauce.The pan seared scallops, jumbo prawns in the cream wine sauce with sautéed spinach is a must try! The oysters are not even listed on the menu but are the best in the BAY! Not to mention the teriyaki steak, fresh veggies, and scalloped potatoes, the dish that keeps on giving. All of her desserts are homemade and fresh. The lemon cookies and classic lemon cake has a taste you will never forget. If you are in the neighborhood, don't leave without stopping by the FRONT ROOM! You will never regret this experience and will become a regular. Take it from me, I critique restaurants for a living.

    A party of 14 of us came here on a busy weekend. The service was awesome and the food was tasty! The prices are very reasonable considering all of the food you get! And a nice view as well. Well worth a visit!!

    This place is great! Location is next to the Ferry, right on the water. Great view...and excellent food!!! My fiancé states he had the BEST CLAM CHOWDER ever, and I have to agree. Prices are reasonable. The special I had was PHENOMENAL, Crab Stuffed Portobello Mushroom, with a saffron cream sauce, along with potatoes and mixed vegetables. Is your mouth watering? Because mine is while I'm typing this. It was so good and I highly recommend it. Great place to take a first date and then some.

    My husband took me here when I was pregnant we had heard so much about it we decided to try it! I had the drunken chicken! It was the best I've ever had! Perfect place they also have a very pretty view of the Vallejo waterfront! Defiantly a little pricy but the staff are so nice and the food is amazing!

    To look at The Front Room from the outside, it doesn't look like much, but it is really great. We go to The Front Room often (1-2 times a month). It has a nautical theme with great views of the water. There are TVs at the bar, where my husband and I often have drinks and lunch while we watch a baseball or football game. When we bring the kids we get a table. The staff is always on top of things. The food is not 5-star great, but it's pretty darn good, especially for the price. Our favorites are the burgers with fresh made buns, Drunken Chicken and Chicken Parmesan. The side salad is simple and very good. They serve fresh made bread sticks piping hot with pats of butter - YUM! We go through the bread sticks like crazy. We had Mother's Day dinner here for the past 2 years and it was beyond excellent - much better than the normal day-to-day fare - you get more than you pay for during special occasions.

    We were seated within 20 minutes. Once we were seated, our waiter took our order. Our soups and beverages arrived shortly after we ordered. Service was decent until our food didn't come. We patiently waited for our food, watched other tables being served and watched tables that arrived after us leave. Our waiter checked on our food and it wasn't ready. We had been at the restaurant for 1 hr, 45 minutes before receiving our main entrees. The waiter said that she would give us cheesecake for waiting which we weren't interested in after waiting for so long. Spoke to the manager who acknowledged our wait time and apologized. She said to ask for her when we return. This was our first visit and the experience was very unpleasant.

    Still good. Great location for a date or just a nice dinner with a view. Lots of seating along the windows. For a place with a great view, prices are fair. If you want cheap go somewhere else. Fast friendly service. New items on the menu since my last review. I like the seafood dishes. Oysters Rockefeller is my favorite. Lots of fish in the fish and chips and warm soft bread sticks on request or with dinner. Pizza is good too. I like the Chinese Pizza (S.F. style). I hang at the bar. Nice cross section of local people. Bartender nice.Good Long Island Ice Tea. TV's for watching sports all around the bar. There is a big room in the back for large parties. I notice a lot of Birthday party's at the Front Room. Fun place. Closes at 9:00

    Yeppers I ate there tonight. When we got there, we were so taken by the delicious aroma of STEAK ...couldn't get past the aroma of steak. Wow, so so appetizing. So of course I ordered New York steak and my buddybooboo had a clam chowder and this pizza which is made with roast pork...sort of a Chinese pizzza. He LOVES it, I mean he ate the entire thing. My steak was good, cooked medium rare exactly the way I ordered it ...the salad was good too. I LOVE the view, it takes away all the stresses of the day, the water the boats and even the joggers who lob along next to your panoramic window in the evening ...just a very good way to sail into the Friday evening. The bar is usually crowded and I like the way they make my drinks but then again I am not a drinker, just a Campari or a Vodka martini (dirty) is about all I can handle but they have not ever disappointed. Chantal ALWAYS welcomes me and she comes over to the table, she wears this scent that is heavenly we always tell her how good she smells. Oh yeah, there is a guy who plays piano ...can you ask for anything more, really? I am a fan yep I am. I notice there are lots of regulars and the feel of the place is solid, I will see you there soon, I'm sure.

    Best bloody marys, super yummy oysters on the half but they only give you calamari rings, no tentacles, hence the minus one star. A restaurant that specializes and seafood should have tentacles on the calamari. Decent service mice crowd. Live piano.

    Our 2nd restaurant experience in Vallejo and it was okay. We walked along the waterfront in the AM and decided to stop for a quick bite/appetizer as we had a late breakfast. The waitress brought us our waters and bread sticks (which were yummy and delicious!) to start off with. After browsing the menu, we decided to get the Calamari Appetizer and a $2 side of onion rings to share. The calamari was okay and kind of chewy which is not something I expect (I like tenderized) and the cocktail sauce was a weird concoction and tasted more like an odd ketchup than anything. The onion rings were good and the ranch that came with it was good. We will try this place again for a full meal and see what happens but for right now we will keep exploring other restaurants in Vallejo!

    We celebrated my birthday at the Front Room yesterday. There were 17 of us and everyone got served at the same time. The food was delicious, from crab & artichoke dip to shrimp & scallops special to the dessert. The service was fantastic. The kids had fun watching the Vallejo ferry sail by. We will definitely visit again.

    Popped in for dinner the other night. Fantastic restaurant on the water, great staff. Had the filet mignon with lobster and veggies followed by delicious desert. Teramiso I believe it's called. Food was exceptional.

    Met a friend here for lunch. Overall experience was pretty good. I think my friend and I were the youngest there, (we're in our 40's.) Best part is the view of the waterway and ferries plus watching the people walking by. It's an older restaurant, the decor is very nautical, glass windows with adjacent booths line one entire wall for views of the ferries and waterway. Restaurant is clean and the staff are friendly. The food is decent. Lots of seafood options, burgers, pasta and a few salads. If you're health conscious or looking for a trendy restaurant, this isn't it. For what they offer, prices are high.

    Service was good. But the food was really mediocre and pricey. I had the seafood combination dinner which came with breadstick that taste like it came from Costco, decent side salad and a small scoop of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup as dessert for total $18.95. The entree came with several prawns and two pieces of scallops, along with steamed broccoli and carrot and some steamed white rice that I substituted with scallop potatoes. The sauce was not a wine sauce that I was expected base on the waitress description. Instead it tasted like vodka sauce that came out from a jar from Safeway. For $18.95, I could have gotten a lot better quality food at Pasta Pomodoro. In fact I think I could have made the meal myself at home with better taste. I am only giving one star for the decent, but no where near exceptional service. I will not be retiring to the restaurant unless they revamp their menu and provide their cook for remedial cooking lessons.

    Better late then nevcer. Had dinner year last year for NYE. The place was nice. The service was lacking and could tell noone wanted to be there. We got the NYE course deal, it was cold and bland. I wanted to cry for the biggest waste of 100$ I have spent on a dinner.

    Way overpriced for the mediocre quality. Great view over the water and of Mare Island. Very slow service. The best item was the green salad. The Crab & cheese on a Portobello didn't taste good, and the mushroom was rubbery. Good bread sticks. Good ice cream comes with everything.

    We have eaten here several times over the years. This place is in a great location next to the Golden Gate Ferry terminal but it's in desparate need of a decorator. We just had dinner there and ordered the Calamari appetizer and the Fish & Chips special. The best part of the experience was our waitress, Joy and the bloody marys we ordered first. The Calimari was either freezer burnt or overcooked and chewy. When we returned it Joy said the kitchen would not do a replacement order for us and she took it off the bill. The fish and chips? Fish was boring, fries were bland, the tarter sauce was sickenly sweet almost like Miracle Whip and the cole slaw scared us both because of the color and taste. I spit it out it was so bad. It's 90 minutes later and we are both sick to our stomachs. So if you want a GREAT blood mary and service ask for Joy but we won't go back with the quality of the food and attitude of the kitchen... They should have closed with Mare Island.

    I love this place...everything I've tried (calamari, linguini & clams, crab salad, even a kids cheese pizza) is freaking delicious! Ambience is great, beautiful waterfront setting & pleasant wait staff keep me coming back again & again. A little on the pricier side, but, again, food is tasty so I don't mind :)

    Returned the soup because it was to salty, tasted like soggy canned soup. the chippino I ordered was very disappointing, tasted like it had been sitting all day. Mostly comprised of rubbery muscles , two scallops and the smallest clams I have ever seen in a can sauce heavy on the tomato paste. My husband ordered the special, sea scallops, two scallop, over cooked on the outside and cold in the middle. The only thing that was fresh was the bread and lettuce in the salad. In my opinion this was mediocre coffee shop dining. Highlight of the evening- Our waitress was very nice and the service was good. Location and atmosphere was good. But the food very disappointing.

    Oh how i love this place! Window side seats looking out to the marina and live piano music with great food of course and great ambiance! We love coming here, my favorite are the oysters, steak, and chowder soup but the pizza is great to so are the crab cakes.

    Well, it was Mother's Day, one of the busiest times of the year so they may have gotten a 5 star at any other time. We'll see because we definitely want to go back. It has got to be one of the nicest places inside for the town of Vallejo. The bartender was very nice and made great drinks. I do have to give a 'boo' to the hostest though. We had called and asked if we needed reservations, the lady asked how many (2 only) and said come on in. When we got there and stood in line for about 10-15 minutes, the hostess came up to us and said they weren't taking in anymore, that there were no more tables left. She seemed irritated when we had to state our point of the phone call we had made about a half hour before that. Anyway, alas, there was a table and we did get in to eat. When we looked at the Mother's Day card sitting on the table it said they were serving till 3:00 (and we were there at 2:30). After dealing with the hostess, if it wasn't for our smiley polite waitress (Kristine), we may not have ever considered going back. Kristine seemed she was having a long busy day but never stopped smiling. So, yes because of the ambeonse, Kristine and the super nice bartender (wish I had her name)...we'll give them another try. Food wasn't too bad either.

    DO NOT ORDER THE PIZZA! Unless you want a pizza made the out of breadstick dough (which is delicious when it's just a bread stick). One of the worst pizzas I'v ever had, I think Lil' Ceasars might be better. The sauce was that overly sweet and tangy canned stuff and the cheese tasted like it was a imitation type cheese. Stick to the other stuff-I'v learned my lesson with pizza-order from a place that is mainly pizza and not the other way around.

    In a perfect location with a view over the Napa river channel and Mare Island, next to the ferry terminal and a great bar alongside, you would think Front would be a winner. Sadly, the food is run of the mill, the interior is rough and plain, the service, while fast needs more servers during peak hours, and the lighting is not romantic unless you like Motel 6 decor. I have been here three times, once in the afternoon and twice at night. They claim to be the top choice in Vallejo which infers that there are a lot of bad restaurants in Vallejo which I know is not the case. The pasta dishes are good but overpriced. The hamburger choices are extensive but all are overcooked (is this a policy or sloppy cooking?). Their fish specials are interesting but obviously the chef has no idea on how to cook fish and should take some trips to Chinese food places to understand the difference between grilling, saute and poaching - in this place they all come out the same...soggy. They do however serve fresh baked bread in small but long mini loaves. If they had a nice dip selection it would be a great appetizer. The wine list is small but reasonable and beer selection adequate. Overall, I would not choose this place for a romantic evening as it is badly lit at night and noisy when full. Perhaps they should take some notes from the Dead Fish restaurant just across the Carquinez bridge. It's been around a long time and offers a much better night out at a slightly higher price per person.

    I am sure you are probably thinking, "Who eats at a 5-star restaurant in Vallejo?" This place is absolutely beautiful. I took the Greyhound to meet my boyfriend in Vallejo. We were both hungry and this was the only place we could find that was open late at night. Boy were we in luck... We walk in, and realize that the restaurant is right on the water! You can watch the ferry bring in workers from the Bay to Vallejo. It is really fun to people watch and the environment is very classy and nice. The food was amazing. I had french onion soup and a salad. He had a pizza which was also amazing. If you are ever in Vallejo...this is the place you want to go! :)

    I spent some formative years in Vallejo and would rather patronize a mom and pop, non corporate restaurant rather than a chain. For location and environs, yes the Front Room is great--view of water and Mare Island and fireplace, but the food plain sucks. My brother had the crab-stuffed portabello mushroom (too much cheese), my sister-n-law had a club salad (rolled up ham, turkey, american cheese lunch meat is just wrong), and I had chicken core, their poorly interpreted take of a chicken piccatta (brown sauce is also so very wrong). We should have just ordered pizza in order to enjoy the view. Oh well.

    I will start off by saying that we called in ahead of time to put in a reservation if needed. Understanding that mothers day would be possibly busier than expected. The person on the phone said we didn't need a reservation so we could just come in. An hour later we showed up to have lunch close to 1:15. The seater had a list of apparent names for reservations, so we had to wait - she put our name down and we were eventually seated after a few late comer reservations were seated about 20 minutes later. Relatively understandable. It started when we were seated, our waitress didn't come to our table til about 10 minutes later, only to say "Hi i'll be right back". Waited longer eventually we got our drinks. we put in our orders around 1:50. Our waitress didn't come back to check up on us during the time we were waiting until about 45 minutes later really, we had to ask another waitress to bring us more bread to at least hold us over since our waitress wasn't giving us any attention. speeding up the issues along the long wait, we finally got our food. 2 plates of fish and chips , a sandwich, I got my chicken and my mom got some scallops and prawns. Her scallops ended up being slightly raw. After all the time the restaurant had to cook some of our less-than-fancy meals they probably had a little time in the almost 2 hours that our food could have at least been cooked completely. They offered us cheesecakes, but our health conscious selves wanted a discount instead for the wait and terrible service. **********The waitress finally told us that we were basically second priority to the other tables that had reservations, though we called to even make one and they rejected to make a reservation for us that is completely unprofessional. All the tables around us had gotten their food and left before us and it was obvious they must have forgotten to put in our orders. We called over the manager and she didn't necessarily budge either. She came back talking about how her needs and wants and her employees versus anything that we even were needing or wanting. Obviously our time and spent at her restaurant was unimportant. She came back after a customer had given her flowers, and she handed them off to my mom as a sorry. Wow thanks for nothing, ****** after 3 hours being there all the manager could do was give my mom a small bundle of flowers that another of her customer handed to her. Thanks. She did end up giving us a future card for 2 meals free for my parents the next time they came after we paid their non discounted $135 bill - but, they will not be back.

    The food was really bland. My shrimp and scallops were in a cream sauce that had very little flavor, and one of the scallops was undercooked. Our busboy never spoke, didn't make eye contact or say "you're welcome" when I thanked him each time he visited our table. The waitress was marginally more cheerful.     The ambiance at the Front Room has the potential to be magical. Located at a premium location on the Vallejo waterfront my family and I were prepared for culinary excellence to go along with the great location. Where to start......how about the stained glass window by the hostess desk that had been kicked in and left partially hanging. But it gets better.....when you have 2 young children it is amazing the games you can come up with. For example we played the game of "How many 1 gallon Daisy Sour Cream containers can you count on the ceiling to catch the leaks" My son won this contest with 10. Hardwood floors, a fireplace, overlooking the water, with sour cream containers hanging from the ceiling. At least if they had spray painted them black we could have tried to figure out what they were. Apparently some of the leaks are to much for the sour cream containers so they have plumbed in a catch basin over the piano area and piped the water out. The "plumbers tape" hanging the black sewer pipes from the ceiling was installed quite well. But I digress. I mean we had come for excellent food. The banners on the outside of the building says this restaurant was "The Best" for 2010 and 2011....wow, definitely preparing us for culinary excellence. Being it was a late lunch we figured we would take it easy. We ordered a "french burger" for the kids to split. The wife ordered a pepperoni and pineapple pizza. I asked the waiter if the Chinese Pizza was popular and he assured me it was, so I ordered that with a side salad. The side salad came out with some hot bread sticks. Basic greens, red cabbage, cucumber, tomato, olives. The dressing was a basic blue cheese which appeared to be home made. Not a bad salad. A bit steep at $6.50 for a side salad along with my meal. The food is brought out after quite a wait. Burger looks good, cooked well and as requested. It is acceptable to the kids. Wifes pizza is pretty standard. Decent pizza, we have better, we've had worse. I ordered the "Chinese Pizza" I would have figured this to be on a BBQ sauce or something different but it was served on a red sauce. Think cheese pizza with sliced BBQ pork slices and green onions. Now I am not a complete culinary idiot and I'm pretty sure that Chinese BBQ Pork at least has some meat to it. What I received was sliced fat/grizzle slices put on top of my pizza. After removing the first piece of pizza the fat began flowing from the top of the pizza into the newly created void. I could not handle it any longer after eating 1 slice and and I peeled off the grizzle pieces and placed them in a pile on the plate next to the 1-2 pieces that were not fat. Think pile of grizzle next to 2 slices of BBQ pork. The waiter came over and I asked him if it was normal for the chef to serve the pizza with sliced fat instead of meat. He assured me it wasn't and asked why it has taken me so long to lodge my complaint. Considering I was 4 minutes and 1 slice into the pizza I did not consider this waiting. The manager came over and apologized. Explained they were short staffed and it shouldn't have come out of the kitchen. Bottom line so/so food, which I probably would have given it another chance except for the condition of the premises. Every chef can have a bad day, but when a facility is in such poor condition on numerous levels it reflects negatively on the whole place. If your dining room is in dis-repair where the public looks at it, what condition is your kitchen going to be in where customers don't have access?

    So we walked to the water hoping to find a good restaurant. The other option across the sidewalk seemed like more of a bar. We sat down and got Joyce as a server. She was AMAZING. Down to earth, could hold a quick convo while taking orders, etc The ambience is your basic restaurant. Nothing too special. Noise was ambient, piano player in the "main" area. I appreciated a clean restroom and good service. Most reviews mention the drunken chicken-not worth all the hype. Went for a special along with that. Less than 100$ for a bottle of wine and two entrees.

    If u r looking for pricey & mediocre prep of food this is the place for u! Although at a nice enuf location, spacious restaurant w full bar, live piano music & nice attentive staff, the food is hit and miss - i had their special tonite (pan seared prawns and scallops over a bed of spinach) that was mediocre at best and almost tasteless at its worse... honey had the salmon special w scalloped taters and small portion of steamed broccoli & carrots which hit a 3 on a scale of 5. what saved the night was the fried calamari appetizer - which we enjoyed - yet, Not enuf to have us come back to this place anytime in the near future :-(

    Not sure of the draw to this place. I remember many moons ago the pizza place on Redwood and being told they were the best pizza in town. I got a medium pizza with everything on it, dough tasted frozen, pizza sauce seemed like simple marinara (a base marinara for everything kind of marinara), and the toppings appeared frozen (at least not fresh). Overall disappointing, nice views from the windows, but I came for the food and it was not good...

    Rude as hell!! I've been a loyal customer to this place since 1996. I cannot believe the way my family and I were treated by these people. Waiting at the door for over 20 minutes with multiple employees walking by. I call to ask if anyone is manning the front door and I'm rudely yelled at by some clown who can barely speak English. I will NEVER return to this place and I'm going to make sure to tell my entire list of friends and family to stop coming here as well. F this place.

    I loved the seafood linguini! Our waitress was sweet and gVe is great advice on what food selection to choose from! I loved my dish and their bread is awesome! Salad looked dry but once I ate it it was delicious as well! I've always wanted to come here since I was little but today was finally the day haha!     Horrible if I could give 0 stars I would. The servers have no experience. You charge prices like you're a fine dining restaurant because you're by the water. And the food taste like its frozen. Someone needs to contact Gordon Ramsay and have him come help you out immediately. My drink was sitting at the bar for so long I had to go up and get it myself. I took a little while to decide and my cousin had already ordered. However I told her I want to see the wine list and I order the lasagna. When I did finally choose a wine she had not put in my food order in. So I had to reorder the food and wait for my wine. When she finally brought the wine she opened it and without letting me taste it poured a full glass and walked away. What the f***. The service was slow and sucks. These fibers need some type of formal training or at least look on youtube or something. Will I be going back hell f****** no.

    What do I like about The Front Room? The location, breadsticks and crab cakes. That's pretty much it. Everything else I've tried is just OK. The wait staff are generally nice but service is often slow. At my last visit, no one checked on us or glanced at our table until we were through with our meal. (Haha, I guess I was too subtle by sticking out my empty glass and should have instead raised my hand or got up to get my drink refill). Prices are OK, but they charge extra for simple add-ons (even for one sad slice of tomato) and substitutions.

    I had great customer service! Everyone is talking about how they had horrible customer service, but I went there with my husband not long ago, and the lady helped us a lot. She kept on coming back and asking if everything was good, (not just us, but other people, meaning, good customer service!) The food is good, I was very impressed with the calamari. It was delicious! The bread was nice and toasted, the salad was soooo good, and even the soda was great. Everything went well that night, I liked the food. It is kind of pricey, but it is worth it.     Our first visit. We have lived in this area for 5 years and did not know about this place. From the outside, you think it is just a bar. Anyway, we found it here and wanted to try it, on a Sunday, about 7pm. The place was not busy at all. Nice live piano music in the corner. Great view of the wharf and we saw the most amazing sunset ever from our table, thanks to the sweet busgirl who came and opened the shades just in time. That sunset is worth 5 stars and I will post a pic, but I need to review the food and service. Nobody greeted us at the entrance and the waitress finally came and pointed to the table she wanted us to sit at. We asked for a cocktail menu and she brought us 1 for 3 people, which we shared while she waited kind of impatiently for us to order. Out of 5 cocktails we ordered, 3 were incorrect. I ended up drinking 2 of the same drink, their signature drink, and my husband had to order a Bloody Mary again. The signature drink was ok but all drinks were quite large. Not sure how much they were. Did not see a price on the menu. Our friend ordered a Raspberry Mojito, which the waitress went all the way to the bar to make sure they had it still and they did, she said, but when the drink came, it was a plane Mojito, not flavored at all. She was so thankful that we kept the drinks anyway, that she became nicer. Let me say something positive for a second...the breadsticks are out of this world!!!!! Huge and fresh home baked bread taste and they came right away and hot!!!! Ok, now the food order. I ordered crab cakes for $14.95 from the appetizer menu and joked about the price saying that I hoped it was a big one. She told me that it was small but there were 2 of them, and she left, only to come back with another menu just to let me know that they were actually $16.95 and my menu was wrong. The menu she showed me, had the price written by hand while my menu had the price nicely printed. Whatever!! $16.95 it was, but they were real yummy and full of crab meat!! My husband's steak was not good but he never sends food back, so life goes on. Our friend only had a side of french fries and the wrong Mojitos because her refill was also not flavored and took forever. Our bill for 2 crab cakes, a plate of french fries, a steak meal and 5 cocktails was $108.00. Just fyi. We are glad we went but will be a while until we go back, unless I crave those breadsticks real bad!!!!!

    The seafood combo was well cooked, nothing was over cooked or burnt or raw... it was just sad. Everything was just tossed on the plate with no sense of pride or respect for the food or the effort put into cooking it. My husband's half spaghetti and half ravioli was even more depressing. An under seasoned sauce on top of noodles that weren't fully drained just made for a tasteless bog with rafts of morose raviloi. The whole meal, while still being well cooked, made me feel like I needed to sign up for AARP.

    This place has a great view and food for Vallejo. My top sirloin with sautéed mushrooms and onions was yummy. My hubby got the surf and turf, and that was also yummy. They gave us some Au Gratin and vegetables, which complimented our main courses just right. The pricing is reasonable and I think you get what you pay for. Lastly, we got a pesto pizza as an appetizer and the pizza is definitely another hit. It's a must try if you are in the Vallejo area! Ps. The surf and turf was priced at $32 so you cannot beat that price!!

    Think it's time to sell as it appears whoever owns this restaurant has grown tired of the restaurant business or has no restaurant management skills. I know it's difficult finding a decent cook in this area so in that case, the owner or manager needs to be in the kitchen at all times making sure that every dish served is perfect. Place looks tired both inside and out as does the waitstaff.

    I have always enjoyed the warm greetings in The Front Room. It's a great place to take the family out to dinner. Everyone is in agreement that the breadsticks are fresh and the best. The Front Room Burger was NOT dry and it is full of flavor. The Alfredo dish was very rich with flavors and you didn't feel like all you were eating was sauce and no chicken or pasta. I recommend showing up about 30 to 45 minutes before sunset so you can make it in time to catch a table by the window. I won't lie to you and tell you it's the best sunset on the Pacific Coast but it is kinda nice.

A nice place to suit down with family or friends and also features a full bar. The culinary execution presented here is some of the best in Vallejo.

    The best thing about this place is the location. You would think that by being right on the waterfront that it could at least have a great menu. I am so bummed that it is only mediocre. Both the food and the atmosphere. Would love it if the inside was renovated and the menu revamped. It's overpriced for what you get. Vallejo really needs a restaurant that takes pride in its appearance and its food. I hope that one day The Front Room steps up and accepts the challenge. It has so much potential to be so much better than what it is.

    One-star service with three-star food. Carbonara is amazing - really yummy. If the breadsticks are not stale that day, they are great dipped in the extra sauce. My daughter's drunken chicken and the scalloped potatoes were great. The kids raved about the potatoes. My son had a bacon cheeseburger that was good, if over-priced and mediocre fries. HORRIBLE service every time i come here. Just TERRIBLE! SLOW - so slow. We had to be somewhere at 6pm and getting the bill was like pulling teeth.

    The best part of the meal was the view. The red sauce in the Spaghetti and Ravioli was decent. The seared scallops and shrimp were just ok. The service was painfully unfriendly and borderline rude. This actually ruined what could otherwise have been a very nice dinner. There is plenty of potential in this old place, but it seems stale and indifferent. I would probably try it again... Maybe we caught them on a bad night.

    Haven't been here in a while and I am glad they are as good as I remember them. Bartender Michelle is pretty good in mixing drinks.. The crowd in the bar is friendly. Food: I ordered their special grilled shrimp with spinach.. It's healthy and flavorful.. Although I wished I ordered a side of rice (lol) Dessert - free ice cream!!!! Coming back here again:)

    Today my Boyfriend took me to a nice dinner at The Front Room Waterfront View in Vallejo Ca. They greet us nicely and we are both entertained very well. I love the stick breads so moist and fluffy. The green salad is all organic. First we ordered a Calamari appetizer with a mild sauce. I can not forget the taste of my dinner so so delicious. I had a combination Seafood with huge prawns and scallops with broccoli and potato. My bf had a Steak Sandwich and it was juicy steak and super tender. I have 2 drinks, a margarita on the rocks and Mango margarita on the rocks. It is a very relaxed place and waterfront view. You cant go wrong with a free ice cream every dinner plate.     Ordered a Kir Royale, bartender had to ask what was in it. Didn't have creme de chassis, used Chambord instead. Still yummy anyway! White Russian, friend ordered, was pretty good as well. Conveniently close to the ferry terminal. Got a pizza to go last time I was here, that was delicious.

Save your money and go down the street to simple Thai. Way better food and cheaper. Not much in the way of restaurants in vallejo, but this one really isn't worth your time.

    I came here on Sunday with a friend and her family. It was fairly early in the afternoon (around 11) so the restaurant was pretty empty. (It started to fill up once we got ready to leave around 1). The location is right on the Vallejo harbor and quite beautiful. We sat by the window and were able to take in all that the view has to offer. Joyce was out waitress and she was awesome. We had a squirmy 2 year old with us, and she was so kind as to bring us fresh fruit and plates for the little guy, who was not interested in our crab dip or anything else that we were trying to do lol. The food was delicious! I ordered one of the daily specials (seared scallops, prawns over a sauteed spinach and a brown sauce) I substituted the scallops for more prawns, I don't care for scallops. The prawns are lightly breaded and fried, also HUGE. I got a little side of rice, which topped the meal off. Extremely filling and I scraped my plate clean. The crab dip is amazing. served piping hot with melted cheeses all over the place. ugh...disgustingly good. Overall, this was a really great experience. I will be back to try some more food and hopefully receive the same sort of excellent customer service that I did this last time. If so, I will def upgrade my review to 5/5 stars. Consistency is everything. so we shall see!!!

    I don't even know where to start. My partner and I decided to try this place for a second time, because the first time the service took too long and the pizza was not worth the trip at all (took over an hour to come out). We thought we would try it again, different food choice. Second time :Took forever to get seated. Received terrible service. Drinks never came and we were about to cancel them but our waitress never came so we could tell her. We also ordered a dozen oysters along with our drinks that were the most bland and old oysters I've had in California. We literally couldn't even finish them. The drinks sucked. We left frustrated and unhappy, we DO NOT RECOMMEND IT.

    The location of the Front Room is a definite plus as you can enjoy looking out onto the water. Six of us went this time at about 4:30 PM and there were just a few people in the restaurant area but others came during of visit. We ordered a wide range of things - burgers, pizza, large salad, and soup. All arrived at about the same time, the portions were well sized, and each of us enjoyed how they tasted. Our service was very good and attentive. While we did not use it, there is a full bar. Based on this visit, I have given four stars because this was a very good experience.

    I don't normally do reviews. I like to do them if I've had a wondeful experience so as not to be negative. However I just had to write Down my feelings about this place. We spent 100 for 3 people to have lunch!!! Just so overpriced for mediocre food that took way too long to get. I have never had such horrible service!!!! From being seated to being served. No one greets you, you stand there looking around until finally the bartender does it. The bus person was so busy watching g soccer on the tv he barely is working. When he delivers the bread be just put it in front of my mother instead of middle of the table because he never took his eyes off the tv!!! I felt ignored. Rude! Just never going back there I can't believe how they stay in business.

    I will preface my comments by recognizing that this was Mothers Day. We had reservations for 1230. We arrived early and the hostess (who was very apologetic) was nowhere to be found. There was a line in front of me that all had reservations and and not seen her either. I ultimately did figure out who she was...they had her cleaning tables and bringing bread as well. The lack of a stationary hostess caused real chaos. Within 15 minutes the line went outside the door and people kept coming forward and asking the whereabouts of the hostess. The restaurant made a huge mistake by not having her at a podium to check in. Despite reservations we were seated at 1:03. We actually did not get any beverages until 1:30. Throughout our entire stay we continually asked for their fresh homemade rolls. We saw a number of tables that had been seated after us receive baskets of bread. Many of us had ordered soup and were trying to hold out for bread. We did not get any bread until 2:45 (one basket for a table of 12).By then all of us had (finally) received our food and had little interest in the bread as the bulk of our meals contained bread. I am certain this was not their first Mothers Day or special event day. The restaurant did a really poor job of strategizing how to manage the volume. Normally we eat at another restaurant on Mothers Day but changed insofar as The Front Room took reservations. We will not be back. Kudos to waitress "Kim" who did everything she could to make this a pleasant day in spite of management oversights and poor planning.

    This place is a dump. Long wait to take drink order. Shrimp cocktail is previously frozen baby shrimp on lettuce with cocktail sauce in a plastic dip cup. And they have a bucket hanging from a ceiling vent with zip ties to collect dripping water. DO NOT COME HERE...SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ELSEWHERE!

    The seafood combination plate was nothing spectacular 4 baby prawns, 2 scallops all for 20.35, a little pricey for an average plate, 15.35 would have been more reasonable. Received service with a smile, thank you Kristine!!! Still a good atmosphere for my first time. I'll be back to try other seafood plates and their pizza!!!

    Great location on the Vallejo Harbor, with a view of the Mare Island Causeway bridge. We got a table next to the window. They bring freshly baked HOT breadsticks and butter. Oh, bread and butter... my biggest weakness on the planet! We weren't starving, so we shared a fish & chips platter, a side order of onion rings, and I got a side salad with blue cheese dressing. The salad was pretty good. Run of the mill with shredded carrot, purple cabbage, sliced cucumber, tomatoes, and black olives. The dressing was really good, and I think there was a bit of fresh garlic in there too. The fish was good. More like long fish fingers with a crispy coating served with a sweet tartar sauce. Fries were thick like steak fries, and the onion rings were really good and crispy. Drinks were tasty- an Energizer Bunny, and mine was the Front Room Breeze, a tropical fruity drink. Yum! Everything was great... service, food, drinks, and reasonably priced. Love the view, and not too crowded on a Sunday.

    Great spot in Vallejo, bringing the marina back! Packed house at 6pm on a Saturday, very spacious did not feel crowded. Food was very good, service mostly good, parking descent. Price excellent. Prime rib $20 and I must say worth more, tender, favorable, and cooked like I asked. The crab cakes very fresh and delicious, and nice sized. Several others ordered the prawns and scallops, fried and all enjoyed it. Birthday desert was yummy cheesecake. Overall nice gem.

    I took my folks here while they were in town. We raved about the ambiance, service and food. Needless to say, they were not disappointed! We shared two pitchers of Stella and got down with 2 orders of breadsticks with a side of ranch. I ordered the Front Room Special pizza, my mom ordered the blackened chicken, my dad ordered the seafood special, and my husband ordered some sandwhich which escapes me at the moment, but I do remember it was delicious! After our meal, the manager (maybe owner?) also brought us complimentary ice cream sundae's "just cuz." Hell-to-the-yes! Before we had even left, my folks vowed to come back on their next visit from So Cal!

Sometimes, it can get too loud in the evening when packed along with music playing in background. They need someone that can play better piano.. last I went, the person performing was terrible.     ONE OF THE BEST PIZZAs. From the first time that me and my girlfriend stopped here to eat we liked this place very much. The service is good and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and usually you will see many locals who hang out at the bar after work. Unfortunately we still didn't have a visit during the day to see the beautiful view the location offers but even during night you can see how nice the area is. We tried their deep dish pizza and we loved it and even they customize the dish the way I wanted it, for a little extra but it's totally worth it. Now every time we drive from the city to go there just for their pizzas, it's totally worth the time and driving. Also their price compared to all urban areas around the bay area is average unless if someone comes out of the woods and eat $5 Pizza Hut all their life then they might think it is expensive. They will offer warm bread sticks with butter to munch on while waiting for your food which is nice. As we like their pizza very much we didn't try any other dishes yet, but what I saw on other tables, definitely I want to try their sea food soon.

    I went to The Front Room last Sunday and the food was excellent! The complimentary bread is baked fresh and tastes amazing. I ordered the chicken sandwich and it did not disappoint. The sandwich was very hearty. The steak fries were also delicious, but I could not finish them all because my sandwich was huge. The environment was great. We got to sit next to a window that had a killer view of the water. If you want good food that fills you up in a pleasant environment, this is the place in Vallejo. I will definitely come back to this restaurant when I am in Vallejo again!

    I will start it off with saying there are not too many fine dining places I can think of in Vallejo. Of course steering away from the chain restaurants. My local friend has wanted to take me to this place as she knows I like good food. We got a wonderful table at the long window. Had a fabulous view of the waterway which I never get tired of no matter where I dine in the Bay Area. Our waterboy was quick. Our waitress was wonderful. Not overly chatty, just warm and friendly. We have linen napkins. LOL--don't get those very often at a small local place. I started with a Ceasar salad and then ordered the teriyaki chicken. Both were was delicious. It came with scalloped potatoes. Now I make mine with a ton of cream and cheese. These were thick cut and only mildly covered. But they were delicious and I am sure that is how you make them when you do not want to have a coronary attack at the table. I enjoyed the long bread sticks/loafs. Fresh and hot. My friend ordered a shrimp salad which she completely cleaned up. That says something. I have to say it was a very pleasant meal that tasted great and with a wonderful view. I now would like to go back and try those crab cakes someone else mentioned on Yelp. Santa Cruz has always made the best I have ever tasted. I am curious if Front Room can give them a run for their money.

    We went to the Front Room for a casual dinner this weekend and were very disappointed. The location of this restaurant is great, right on the waterfront in Vallejo. I really like to try to support local businesses, and I'm not an overly picky or particular person, but this place makes it very difficult for me to show them any love. The breadsticks were good, but if the best thing that you can say about a restaurant is that they have good breadsticks, it's time to look for another restaurant! I had the full dinner with a cup of minestrone soup as the starter. The minestrone was decent, although nothing spectacular. My drunken chicken was also fair, nothing special. My vegetables (carrots and snow peas) were overcooked, the scalloped potatoes that accompanied the meal managed to be both bland and heavy. My gent had the peppercorn steak which seemed to be a poor quality cut of meat, riddled with gristle. The sauce was good, but that is the best that can be said of his plate. he also had the aforementioned veggies and scalloped potatoes. My son had the sirloin tips, which were a bit tough and overdone, tasty sauce though. My daughter had the pasta carbonara, which was also rather bland and unappealing. All in all it was a thoroughly unsatisfying way to drop a hundred bucks on a casual dinner for four. We won't be going back.

    I took my parents here while they were visiting. It's a neat place to eat when the sun isn't too low in the sky. They don't really have any options for vegetarians so I mostly settled for booze. My parents seemed to enjoy it though, so good enough. Add some variety to the menu (vegetarian, wink wink), and this place would be worthy of 4 stars. Right now, it's just a nice ambiance with standard fare for a seafood joint.

    Okay, good things first: They offer fun and tasty drinks - a little pricey, but well-made. Also, most of the staff are very nice. The bad: The food doesn't live up to the price rage. Most of it is edible, but definitely not on par with what the atmosphere and prices suggest. The ugly: Tonight I found some of the menu items which do not fall into the edible category. Maybe because I didn't order one of the kick-ass drinks to go with my meal, I don't know. I ordered a seafood platter with fish sticks, chips, shrimp, and a crab cake. The shrimp wasn't peeled properly before being breaded and fried into oblivion, so I pulled off the breading and the remaining shell. This took some doing, but the result was edible. I had to get a waiter to identify the fish sticks for me because they were oddly shaped - 2 sticks about 6 inches long and 3/4 inch wide. Had I bitten into them first, I still might have had to ask what they were. They were fried to the same extent as the shrimp, but the inside was a mushy mess with a sort of fishy taste - okay, maybe I could have guessed, but I wouldn't have been sure. How do you screw up fish sticks? I can't even do that. The crab cake disappointed me the most, because I love crab. It was the only reason I ordered that dish. It was gross, made with parts of the crab that no one would eat on purpose (I don't mean the mustard - which I like - but ligament and bits of carapace). I finished my water very quickly and had to wait a while to get more (you have to ask for your water glass to be refilled). Once I got more water, I squeezed a lemon wedge into it and gulped it down to try to get the taste of the deep fried hell on my plate out of my mouth. It didn't work all that well, but it did help with the nausea a little. When the waitress asked us if we'd like a box for our food, I said no almost before she finished. I debated telling her how very bad the food was, because she seemed kind of harassed. She was very nice, it just seemed like maybe it was a bad night. When she brought the bill and asked again about putting my food in a box, I told her how bad it was. I didn't ask for anything - I didn't want anything except to leave. She apologised and said she'd let the manager know. The next thing I know the manager is at our table shoving a piece of cake in front of me and telling me that I should have said something sooner, but she couldn't do anything now that the check had come, the problem was that it was a different kind of crab cake made with blue crab, and here is a piece of the best lemon cake in Vallejo. Translate: "I don't believe you really had a problem with the food, I think you just want to get out of the bill. Here is a piece of lemon cake to shut you up." And *that* is why I'm never going back. Mistakes happen, people have off nights - I get that. I'm pretty easy about stuff like that and, unless I get food poisoning, I'll come back and give it a second chance. I'm also not a picky eater - if I don't put a giant dent in whatever you set in front of me and ask for a doggie bag, I'm either dying or it's not food. Calling me a liar, no matter how diplomatically, will make it my last visit and get you a blunt review like this one. I couldn't eat the lemon cake. It was probably okay, but what had come before it had put me off eating anything anytime soon. I tried to eat it to be polite, but I really couldn't. My husband had a bite - he said it was more like the best Duncan Hines had to offer than Vallejo. We sat there uncomfortably for a minute, then decided that we weren't paying to be made uncomfortable. No one was coming for the check, so we went to the manager's desk to pay. At this point, I was a little angry at the way we'd been treated, so I spoke up. I told her that it wasn't just the crab cake, that everything had been awful, and that I wasn't asking for anything, I'd just want someone to tell me if it were my restaurant. I didn't tell her that, had it been my restaurant, I wouldn't have done anything as tacky as she'd just done to us. We tipped the waitress well because none of it was her fault, and expecting a perky demeanor at all times is kinda creepy. She was nice and she did her job. In summary: Never again. (P.S. In retrospect, I wonder how many of the problems people complain about have to do with bad management? If she's more concerned about money than repeat business, it could explain the food quality and unhappy staff. I wouldn't want to work there.)

    We were so bummed when the original location on Toulamne and Redwood was torn down for the new Albertsons, now Luckys. But were pleasently surprised when they showed up at the waterfront. We've only lived here for 12 years, but that location seemed to have a hard time keeping a tenant. First of all, I'm not a bread person. Don't really care if you get it or not, doesn't matter if it's hot or cold. But, at the Front Room, you are greeted with a basked of "bread bones," as we refer to them. They have crusty warm breadsticks that are made on premises and served with butter. We have a few favorites, but whatever your choice, make sure you get some of the potatoes au gratin. Next to Chez Melange in Redondo Beach, these are my alltime favorites. They are so smooth and creamy and delicious. My husband always looks over the menu carefully, and ends up ordering the Chicken ala Crema. Amazing for a man who doesn't like white meat chicken. This is a tender chicken breat filet pounded thin and tender. It's sauted with a light creme sauce and served with steamed carrots and snow peas. I usually jump between the drunken chicken (pounded chicken filet sauteed in a brandy wine sauce) or the New York Steak. I've never been disappointed. You have a choice of dinner ala carte or with soup or salad and a scoop of ice cream. For $3 difference, it's a good value if you're really hungry or just like to have a starter and desert.     Food was very mediocre and they tacked on 2 extra dollars to each meal for some reason. I did not want to appear cheap because I was treating my dining partner, but the cioppino was supposed to be $18.99 and I got charged 20.99 and the Prawns Provencale were supposed to be $16.99 and I got charged 18.99. The broth for the cioppino was more like spaghetti sauce and the breadsticks were not a good pairing with the dish. They were dry and tastesless, like they bought them at Costco.

    The place was fine, an interesting view, nothing great for food, decent prices on the drinks. I wouldn't come on purpose. The back area of the restaurant (which was closed, but where we were offered and considered sitting with our large group) smelled more like a bathroom than a place I'd want to eat. The front area closer to the bar where we did sit and eat was fine.

    My husband and I just visited the Bay area and wine country and stayed in Vallejo, which is a great central location if you are planning to do both Wine country and see San Fransisco FYI. Saw the restaurant by the Vallejo Ferry terminal and thought we would give it a try. Wonderful view of the sunset! the atmosphere was really nice with a live piano player and a real local down home feel!. CRAB CAKES CRAB CAKES CRAB CAKES! you must try! A strong competitor for the best crab cakes I have ever had! second only to a crab cake I get in Louisiana(my home state) that is covered in crawfish etoufee! ;) But if you are in Vallejo you MUST stop by to try these crab cakes! I had the Drunken Chicken as my entree and it was also very good! All around great experience.

    I like this place due to its proximity to home, the included ice cream finisher, the water and Mare Island views (inevitably we see some crane activity) and the usually dependable food. My wife and I often order off the menu and have been completely satisfied. When I brought a potential client here for lunch one day that whole perspective changed. We ordered the scallop/shrimp special and was blown away it was so good. Tasted like a dish served at one of the fancy seafood restaurant in the city. Perfectly prepared seared scallops and lightly fried shrimp nestled on a bed of sauteed spinach with a delicate and tasty sauce. YUM. Next time I will pay much more attention to the specials....and of course you cant miss the breadsticks.

    Okay food overall, but some items on the menu are pretty good, like the breadsticks. For pizza I like cheese then I add pesto and linguica toppings. For dishes I tend to order the Drunken Chicken or Chicken Sec. This place gets +1 star from me because: 1) The service: we tend to have big family dinners here (15+ heads) and for the most part the service is up to the challenge. 2) There's a bar. 3) Location - it's on the waterfront. 4) Live pianist who can play the Tagalog standards I request (such as "Gaano Kita Kamahal," or "Dahil sa isang Bulaklak") as well as most other standards (such as "Fly Me to the Moon", or "As Time Goes By"). These things give the Front Room personality, or else it would've been like any other restaurant and I would've given this place 3 stars.

    Had no intention of stopping for food in Vallejo, but my husband and I were starving and i am so glad we did. This was the closest restaurant to pop into my restaurant search on my phone. While the outside looked a bit divey, with the knowledge that those places are sometimes the best we went inside to find an adorable nautical themed place on the water. Our service was amazing. They gave me a huge glass of red wine and a fresh bread starter. My husband was overjoyed to learn they would cook his burger rare and it was delicious. I ordered a personal pizza which was so yummy considering it isnt really a pizza place. For desert we split one of there amazing cheese cakes and I cannot wait to return.

    Service was ok. Food was barely palatable. My friend had fish and chips were nothing like fish and chips should be and were burnt. My teriyaki burger I only ate half:( steak fries were not cooked all the way and another person at our table said that the red house wine was spoiled:( not a good experience. The only good thing is the location and the view outside. Just FYI don't waste your money at this place:(

    I grew up in Vallejo and had always heard about the Front Room pizza. I never went to the original location but the Front Room at the Wharf is a family favorite. I really enjoy the cozy, family atmosphere and if you know what's up...you can get hooked up with white rice with you steak for my fellow pinoys out there. LOL. They have a pretty wide variety on their menu. I've seen people dress up a bit for wine and prime rib and I've seen people casual for beers and burgers. I've tried both and have always had excellent service. They serve bread sticks at every table and a small dish of ice cream for desert. That little extra touch goes a long way in my opinion. Give em a try!

    Pros: Good food, great view, normally friendly staff. Cons: Prices are tiny bit high, sometimes really busy (a good thing for them lol). The staff is just about always friendly, but the servers are a roll of the dice. I would say about 75% of the servers have been good, as I said almost always friendly, but somethings you wonder where the hell they are? Place isn't that big but sometimes you want just another soda and they are not to be seen. Would make a 3.5 stars, but have to do either 3 or 4 and they are more deserving of a round-up.

    When I first parked outside I had my doubts. It looks like a typical dive, seaworthy pub. Stepped out of the car and *sniff sniff* yup, smells like it too. Admittedly it IS on the water so at low tide it's to be expected, but it wasn't really appetite inducing. The inside was MUCH nicer! I was seated almost immediately and the wait staff was very friendly. The Manhattan I ordered was also very well made so kudos for that. The menu was nice, but overall nothing to write home about. The entrees that came as a meal said they come with bread, soup/salad and ice cream...but no mention of what comes on the plate aside from your entree of choice. Veggies? Potatoes? Pasta? Anything?? Turns out it was steamed mixed veggies and potatoes au gratin (which weren't that great). I had the drunken chicken which tasted like it was home made. And I mean that in a nice "Mm tastes like mom just made it" but not in the "Mm this is a nice treat I can't get anywhere else" kind of way. The view is amazing over the water, if you don't happen to notice people on the sidewalk outside staring in at you to see what you're eating. The passersby were sparse but a little strange when they just stood there...but again, this is the waterfront of Vallejo at night. There's only so much you can expect. So yes, good drinks, and nice homestyle meals. But nothing I'd go out of the way for or really look forward to all day.

    What a way to bring the new year at a place that has good food and friendly people. A live band was going along with some dancing and a very very good prime rib dinner with all the trims. They even provide a taxi service just in case you are not able to drive. Now that's looking after your customers.

    The host told us that we can sit anywhere then another waiter told us that the back of the restaurant is closed off. WTF make up your damn minds! It was also the last day of the Pirate Festival and Father's Day. It looked like they reserved the "closed" area for pirates only. Why segregate? A little bit of crazy is always good. Our waitress was never around and when we interacted with her, she was rude. This place makes alot of a business but I wish they would hire staff who were organized and had some customer service common sense. The menu needs a makeover too because the items have been the same for a while.

    I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. My first and last time there yesterday as our food took over 45 mins long when it was fried seafood which doesn't take long to cook!!! When we brought up the issue to the owner about our food taking long when everyone after us was receiving their food and asked for a lil compensation, her first words were "you people"!! Excuse me, we did not yell, no where near rude, she came at us with "you people"!!! Who is you people?! Because we are African American? Sad thing for her is that we are of mixed decent so which people was she referring to!! U and your racist self don't have to ever worry about me and my family ever coming to your establishment again!! And trust I will spread the word to all the "you people" I know, Devil!! Oh thanks for the lil 5% you took off the bill!

    THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE. Our experience at the front room was definately an experience. The staff was really rude and doesn't seem to care about anything. I don't know how they got these best in Solano awards, but the service sucks and the food is mediocre at best. This was my first time my family and I came to this restaurant. We had visitors with us from Louisiana, and we decided to take them here for dinner despite the mix reviews on yelp. My parents and my siblings were sitting at that table for about 20 minutes already before I got there. We were a bit hungry and knew they had bread sticks that they give out as you wait. So we ask him for some bread sticks, waited, asked again, waited, and asked again. It took over 30 minutes or so (since my family first sat) just to get some bread sticks, WTF? Our waiter was this bald Filipino guy that kept cracking jokes that after a while started to get annoying. Since it was our first time there, we wanted to share and do a la carte so that everyone could try it out. Thinking we would get more from an a la carte (kinda like family style restaurants), this is different as it just the dish that was meant for one person. Whatever, so we got about eating and my mom gets the waiter to let him know that we did not receive our salad yet which she ordered. The waiter reply was "You did not order a salad." My mom replied "Yes I did". And the waiter's response "No you didn't, I did not hear you!". WOW, the waiter is arguing with my mom, wouldn't you think that waiters would be more considerate and understanding? So my mom was like whatever, forget it. And so our bill comes and guess what, they charge us for the salad. Also they charge us gratuity of 20%, which in their menu says it's only for parties 10 and above (which we weren't). The waiter looks at the bill and takes it back, he doesn't even say sorry or anything. The restaurant manager (some old Asian guy) comes to our table and gives our check and leaves with a mean looking face. Damn, this has got to be one of worst services I ever got at a restaurant.

    The shrimp louie was fine at $11.99. Everything about this place is a little dated. I wish they'd fix the place up now that the ferry terminal has been updated. This is a missed opportunity. If they'd work on their decor and menu and offer a better mix of pricing they might get more business from ferry customers.

    For some reason we keep forgetting about Front Room, but when there, the service is great even when the place is busy, great view, large & diverse menu selections, the place is clean, the ladies room is clean, the food is delicious, and food presentation is really nice. There's a small bar if you want a mixed drink. Front Room is in a nice location right next to the Bay Link Ferry Building and has a great view of the waterway with boats going by and Mare Island. When there the other night, the oriental lady (owner or manager??) personally brought our check to the table and made a point of sincerely thanking us for coming in - she didn't over-do it, it was clear she was gratfeul and made us feel good. We're defintiely going back and can't wait to try one of their pizzas.

    I've been here a few times and it's really hit or miss. My first time here I was with a party of 20. People ordered a variety of food, I ordered a cheeseburger which was really good. The fries were long steak fries, SO good. The long bread sticks that came before the food were very yummy - fresh from the oven and delicious. I ordered a long island and that was pretty strong (it got a A+ from me). Others at the table had the drunken chicken (very good), chicken alfredo (very good). The prices were pretty good for all that food! My second time there i had grilled chicken sandwich and it was very bland. The service was good and this time, they sat us by the window and i completely enjoyed the view. It was during the winter, so the small fireplace was on and it set the mood really well. I went back there about a month ago and it looks like they raised the prices by about 1.50-2 an entree and i'm not sure i'd say it was worth it. This place is pretty decent for a Vallejo joint! :)

    My husband and I have been patrons since this restaurant was located on Redwood Street. I'm not sure if I need to anything else ;) this is a large restaurant with tables situated on the length of the building with a wonderful view of the river and Mare Island. On Thursday and Friday there is a pianist that plays a variety of genres. It's nice to have the music in the background while having dinner. the food, well, as I have mentioned above, we are regulars and have almost everything on the menu and dishes not on the menu (no shell fish, allergies). on Friday and Saturday nights, the bar is jumping; many friends and new people to meet. Even with the bar 2 deep, we have no complaints concerning any of their mixed drinks; they are well made and it does not take half an hour to get the bartender's attention. The bartenders are professional and super friendly. My favorite plate: love the hamburgers Trout Almondine Fish & Chips there are more, but they have already been mentioned on previous reviews.

    We had lunch at the Front Room at the Wharf today; this was my first time. It's an unassuming building right next to the water in Vallejo, so it's very pleasant sitting there in the spacious room. The service was polite. I wish the food had been a bit better. My steak sandwich came a little overcooked. There was a bun and the meat, but nothing else (no tomato, no lettuce). I thought that was rather odd. The whole sandwich was quite bland. But we hope to try it again because it was just so pleasant being there.

    I never ate at the Front Room. I had a few drinks there, typically back in the day when I'd get home on the ferry, didn't have a car, and was waiting for my wife to pick me up. It's cold, it being November or December... it's dark, also... perhaps it's even raining. So I'd walk over to the Front Room, sit at the bar, and order a martini or two. The bartender was always friendly and would always make a decent drink. The vibe inside though, never inspired me... It never really pulled me in and made me want to say: "Hey, hon... why don't you just park the car and we'll have dinner here tonight." Hence minus one star.

This isn't the nicest place I've been to but the food was good, the service was good, the view was good and the price was good. So in my book this is a place that I would go to again.

    This is the best restaurant in Vallejo and it's on the water. My favorite Chicken Sec with mushrooms comes with gratin potatoes and veggies. Their meatball appetizer is yummy. They also bring warm bread sticks to snack on. Iv'e been a few times now and the service has been good every time.

    The place to go in the North Bay: food, ambiance, hospitality, and live music. The hostess was gracious and sat us down to a table near the window for a great view of the waterfront. We began with our favorite clam chowder and home made fresh oven baked bread. I followed my soup with sea food platter. Instead of fries, I asked our waitress to give me salad. I loved their homemade vinaigrette. My wife had salmon and she expressed how moist and fresh the fish tasted. My wife had home made chocolate mouse for dessert and I had my favorite carrot cake. I have always been satisfied with the wine I've selected. If you want a romantic evening and be able to talk and be heard, try not to sit too close to the bar; the customers like to have fun. The pianist plays just about everything my wife and I enjoy. For business power lunch, I recommend it highly because their luncheon menu is impressive and good enough to make an impression with colleagues. For other specialties we like are: mushroom hamburgers, crispy trout almondine, steak sandwich, lasagna, seafood fetuccine. As to the pizza, I love their Front Room special. Bon Appetite!

    I'm new to the Bay Area, and one of the things I am excited about is exploring all the great restaurants around town. Boy, was I disappointed to only find chain restaurants in my new hometown of Vallejo. But, I was able to find a little bit of flavor in blah blah city, the Front Room on the Wharf. I went out with a work colleague and had a great time in this formal, yet casual restaurant. The food and service were great, the drinks were worthy of being called drinks, not watered down or made with a bar gun. I observed on several occasions the staff giving hugs and handshakes to people as they were leaving, which you can't find at just any restaurant. They also had a live person playing the piano throughout the night. This is a place I will go to again, and what i like about it the most is it can be a casual jeans and t-shirt place, or a slacks and button-up shirt kind of place. If only they were to make the view out the window better... Mare Island completely destroys the great water views.

    Good food, service was crappy. We had a party of 8. From what I overheard, the waitress was supposed to be going on break before we were seated in her section. So no doubt about it, she was in a bad mood from the second she walked over to our table. I watched her rudely roll her eyes two or three times at people in our group. When our drinks were brought over, she actually slammed them onto the table. She then decided to take her break without letting anyone know, not even the other servers. We sat for at least 20 minutes without being checked on once, not even for refills on our drinks. I may eventually venture back in there, hopefully the service will have improved.

    I have been to the Front Room many times over the last five years. I know there are signs outside saying that it was voted "Best Restaurant in Vallejo", but honestly I can't see how and I think this is frankly an insult to some of the other restaurants in that city. I feel that the restaurant's service has deteriorated over the years. I give the place one star for the view (which is really nice to watch people on the wharf) + one star for the live music, which I believe is only there on Friday and Saturday nights + one star for the ambiance which is nice when they light up the fireplace, which they don't do often. To be fair, there is a lively crowd on Friday nights, but the bartenders sometimes guess at the drinks and may not give you what you've ordred because they don't know how to make it but they won't always tell you that when you order. Now I have to take away one of those stars because the service can be mediocre to bad -- not a lot of friendly smiles or attention to details or customers. I also find the food (while from a varied menu) kind of mediocre in taste. Be very careful when ordering: our last experienced included putting things in my guest's order that he strictly asked not be included because of dietary restrictions. They also tried to charge us for something that I ordered and didn't get, as well as additional charges because they said my order was a "custom order". The problem with this is that I wasn't informed that this was a custom order or of additional charges until the bill came and on top of that I didn't receive the "custom order" - only what was on the menu. While the Manager finally readjusted the charges, she was slightly rude during the process, as if she thought we were trying to get out of paying for our bill. Fun fact - the first thing the waitress did when we sat down was to close off the view (which we hadn't asked her to do and which everyone else was enjoying). Then, instead of them apologizing for messing up my guest's order, they just brought an additional plate and offered him some of my food! Never once, did we get an apology for any of the "mess-up's" during this visit. Most important, the food was just blah and that has been the trend that we have been seeing with the Front Room.

    Today was the second time that I've had dinner at the Front Room with my parents. The food and service were outstanding. My meal was filling and tasted great. I ordered the chicken la creme. It was chicken covered with a cream sauce that had a hint of peanut in it. It was great. The dish came with steamed vegetables and their special potatoes that taste great. I had a shrimp cocktail that lacked in presentation and taste. The shrimp did not seem very fresh and the dish looked like a pile of mini shrimp with some marinara sauce on the side. The soup was great, I had minestrone and it hit the spot. Overall my experience at the Front Room was outstanding, except for the shrimp cocktail that left something to be desired. I would recommend this establishment if you're in Vallejo and you want to have a family dinner. The view of the Mare Island strait is pretty nice as well.

    After reading someone's rant below I had to defend the Front Room at the Wharf...and I went AFTER reading the review :) Went in for dinner on a Friday night and was shown right to a table at 6pm although the place filled up fast. It is always loud in there due to the bar crowd, the tv's, and acoustics. Don't go expecting a quiet place for romance though because this isn't it, LOL. We had a nice seat near the window and it was easy to talk with each other. Our waitress Kim was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the special, crab cake, fried fish, and prawns. All was wonderful, perfectly done, good size portion very enjoyable. My husband had the fettuccini and his meal was also very good. We both left full and satisfied with the meal and service. I recommend this place for the food, prices, and service. Give it a try. Great place to dine in Vallejo where you don't have to dress up and can take kids while still getting a good meal from burgers, salads, pastas, steaks and of course seafood.

    If you're looking for Drunken Chicken, great Breadsticks and a great view then here you'll find yourself. The waitstaff.. eh, not so much worth complimenting. Actually I liked it much better when they were at the Redwood Plaza because the owner treated you like family. They weren't so busy then anyhow but I loved it. Now, no. Nice live piano. Convenient bar. Clean bathroom. Just stick to the chicken and you should be as happy as I always am.

    My friend likes this place so when she is visiting her family in Vallejo we meet at this restaurant. This was my second visit and it was better than the first. It seemed cleaner. There were more diners than when I was there before, although actually more at the bar area. Even though the experience was better, there's still room for improvement. I recall that my veggies were overcooked prior, and this time not. My broccoli was not soggy but it had no flavor. I think they may have just boiled it or something. The shrimp was a good size but could have been more tender and the dijon sauce was just so-so. The food wasn't even hot, and not even luke-warm. The waitress was nice, and there's the view of the water.

    We heard that they have the best pizza, but they DON'T. It was luke warm when it was delivered and VERY BLAND. As we sat at the bar, I looked at the window shades which were pulled down and saw all the SPLATTERED FOOD PARTICLES on them. On the floor all around the bar, was DIRT AND CRUMBS that should have been swept. The womens BATHROOM was dirty...the DOOR, WALLS, SINK looked like they haden't been cleaned, EVER. We had our leftover pizza boxed to take home and opened it immediately out the front door to feed a stray cat and A BABY ROACH WAS CRAWLING AROUND in the box! That is DISGUSTING! I will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN. It doesn't cost a thing to clean and there is no excuse why it is not being done. If the public area's are so dirty, I wonder what the back looks like!!!

    I had planned a Birthday gathering for my Aunt's 80th birthday, with about 16 people attending... I called a few weeks in advance to ensure we would have no issue with being served. Upon arrival, I was not happy with the table placement, they IMMEDIATELY changed the locale to accomodate my request for Privacy, with NO questions asked! Then onto the Service, outstanding would be an understatement, the entire wait staff was ALL OVER IT !! Then the food, everyone in our party was pleased with the food, even with a large party, it was an open menu, so everyone got exactly what they wanted! The owner even made several stops to be sure our needs were met.... Can not give them a higher recommendation if you are looking for nice dinner on the water or a gathering... Will definitely plan other functions here, and the price can't be beat... FIVE STARS!!

    Ate here last Saturday... had crab cakes and Chevy chase.. it tasted good but I didn't feel so hot later... the crab cakes were a little greasy and the Chevy chase was a sort of ceviche without the spice of onions and peppers... also the Chevy chase was served with saltines... Yuck! The server was very attentive and I loved the breadstick. I would come here again but try something different.

    It's been a while since I last visited this joint, and at that I have only eaten there twice. The fist visit was good to the point that I wanted to come again and that is where it comes to a screeching halt. Generally the place looks like a nice place to have a meal, the location is great because you are right on the waterfront so there is a lot going on right outside the window. The food was OK, it was tolerable until I realized that the bread on out table was covered in mold, that pretty mush killed my desire to eat and I haven't been able to give them another shot since. The manager didn't seem to shocked by our discovery, he just comped half of our meal and we exited - never to return.....

    This restaurant is located in Vallejo on the "estuary" across from Mare Island...very pleasant waterfront view...I was there mid-day. Plenty of free parking. Unfortunately since we came here to eat I must mention the food and service. Drunken Chicken and Crab Salad were edible at best. Chicken with sauce was bland and Crab tasted like the cheap canned variety on an bed of iceberg lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers. The Host dropped off menus and sat behind the register chatting with staff...Our waitress dropped off our orders and eventually returned with the check. One glass of lukewarm water. The only item we enjoyed was the bread sticks. So my advice is to eat somewhere else and drive here to park and stroll or sit on the walkway overlooking the estuary to enjoy the view.

    Food was ok except I really liked the Prawn Cocktail (I went back the next day and had that again). Really fresh tasting. My Pepper Steak, a New York strip with peppercorns, brandy and cream was tasty. My husband's Teriyaki steak was way too sweet. The sides were average. The desserts looked great but we passed. The waitress was friendly. Nice view of the bay.

    I really like coming to this place. It is about a mile from our house and its actually really nice on the inside. I never noticed it because the outside doesn't look like much. The food is really good. Some of it is a bit over priced for what you get (Cabanara was $17 per plate and its just a plate of noodles) however some of it is a great deal (Baron burger around $10). The food has always been really good. The service on the other hand is a little lacking. Usually when we go here its hit or miss. Last night was a miss. We walked in and just kind of stood there not knowing if we were supposed to seat ourselves or if we were supposed to wait. Finally as we started walking towards a table someone approached us to seat us. We had drank two cups of our water and our sodas and the waitress STILL didn't come over and refill. Our plates sat on the table for nearly 15 minutes after we were finished and waiting on our check. Only complaints are some of the prices are high and the service needs some improving.

    Call it 3 plus stars. I've never had dinner here, but it's one of the places I come for lunch w/ my work group. I used to meet a friend for lunch a few years ago when it was in a little down-at-the-heels shopping center at Redwood and Tuolumne in Vallejo. That was torn down to make way for a mammoth Albertson's and the restaurant resurfaced in a much improved spot on the Vallejo waterfront. I love the view of the water, the old Mare Island dry-docks and the decommissioned Golden Bear, the Maritime Academy's old ship. I always order the Shrimp Louie, but w/ Italian dressing and it's good. I used to order their pizza in the old location and liked that. Their bread sticks are house made, soft and good. Service can be slow.

    I've been here a couple times for dinner. The enjoyment of my yummy pesto pizza with sausage was complimented by the lovely live piano music and beautiful waterfront view. It's a great place for dinner for two or if you want to have a big family dinner.

    A suprisingly nice looking restaurant for this neck of the woods. However the food was nothing special. I only had lunch here, a burger and fries, both of which were unremarkable. I also had a piece of chocolate mousse cake which was excellent indeed. However this simple lunch, with no drink was a good $15.00. Just too much for a burger, fried and dessert, given an average burger and fries. Also too much use of styrofoam for take-out food. Maybe dinner would be better. I hope so considering the pricing.

    I have been here many times on client lunch outings. By far the best place I have eaten at in Vallejo. Everything has been top notch, burgers, seafood and the pizza. Great view out into the estuary, and my favorite is the fresh bread sticks.

    This place is very cozy, family oriented and has great customer service!! They make you feel welcome & part of the family. My in-laws live nearby & this was my 2nd time eating here and both times I can't help but to get the prime rib. We had shrimp with a mustard sauce for our appetizers. It was too drenched in it however it was good. We all had salad but their thousand island dressing has too much pickle relish in it so it ruined it for all of us. My husband ordered the fish platter & our son ordered the salmon. My prime rib was good but I've had better. It was a bit dry. My husby's platter consisted of crabcakes, fish-n-chips & deep fried shrimp. He said it was just ok. Our son enjoyed his salmon. For dessert we all had the chocolate mousse with strawberries which was very good. Like I said I have had better but I'd still go back.

    Let me start by saying I was very excited to eat here until I spoke with the owner Shantal or Chantel over the phone. I called for an inquiry on a large party dinner i was planning, I was put on hold and then I spoke with the owner and she rudely asked what i wanted and i told her then she says "Can I call you back? Its lunchtime and I can't talk to you right now". I go on and ask if its lunchtime that means you can't serve customers? The she says I would love to serve you but I'm busy right now. I hung up after that. I have not eaten here but my experience with the owner goes to show me that they are very rude and do not care for their customers. There goes a party of 30 that they could've had.

    Nice and cozy place on the water with a good view. I shared a medium deep dish pizza, and two people with large appetites could barely eat half. The service was great, and there probably are not many places I would rather spend a bit of time on a cold day in Vallejo than here.

    I have been going to the Front Room at the Wharf for neraly 7 years. They have a good menu selection, including pizza (Acapulco with jalapeno's is our favorite) and are great for large groups. They have a nice bar area and fire place along with music on some nights. They have large windows that overlook the Mare Island straights where you can watch the ferry and other boats go by. Deb G.

    Never had a bad time yet and thats a good thing! Since it has been called "The Front Room" it has been a good place to go to. Its usually my family of four but I have had them setup for parties as large as 18. Whoaaaa... This is the kind of place where the employees, management, etc... remember who you are. We are always greeted by who I assume to be the owner that couldnt be anymore gracious. Oh and the bathrooms are always clean!

    Bad experience. First time going there. The bread sucked. It was like Little Ceasars or Olive Garden, cheap, pizza dough skinny bread sticks. I sampled the house wine. It was... Well, lets just say it was not for people who know about wine. Then I get my salad. I didn't order hair in my salad. Not just the strand that my girlfriend pulled from my lips that was hanging out of my mouth, but two more strands in the salad. We were both super hungry and left very disgusted. I don't know how the heck Vallejo Time Heralds keeps giving them "Best of Solano county" awards. Then the waitress goes to get the check when we just want to pay for our drinks and leave, and the owner or manager women comes over and puts the bill down and stands there like she is punking us or like she thinks we are going to try and run out. Then after we pay she follows us out to the car like we did something. Horrible experience.

    I've had a mixed experience coming here, usually the food and service is decent too fairly good, but there are times where the wait staff unattentive a few occasions a little rude. As other mentioned it does have a nice view, they do have pretty good Pizza.. a solid 3 stars with room for improvement

    Okay, so they poured amber on their menu in 1978 and left it that way. The dishes remind me of the "fancy" family restaurants that we went to for special days when I was a kid. But, you know what? That's not bad. Surf and turf continues to be popular for a reason and I'm always happy when you combine almonds and freshwater fish. We had calamari and it was good -- not even close to the chewy too-tough stuff and sometimes passes for this dish. And my cocktail. Well, folks have already said it but they do good things with alcohol, mixers and a Boston shaker. The view, of Vallejo's waterfront and the old ship repair docks on Mare Island, is nice and emphasizes the blue collar aspect, past and current, of this town. If you're looking for an adventurous menu, go someplace else. But if you want to take your Ohio parents out for a dinner they will recognize and like, the Front Room's your place.

    I really like the location because it's right on the Vallejo Marina and next to the ferry. It's got a really nice fireplace inside and a cool bar, but this place is pretty pricey. They do however have a really strong and yummy rasberry long island ice tea. If you are looking for a nice place to eat in Vallejo with a nice view of the water this is a good place to go.

    The Front Room at the Wharf is THE place to be if you missed your ferry into the city. I mean that in a good way, too. This is also the ONLY bar adjascent to the ferry building so your only other option is to get a second rate croissant and some burnt coffee in the dinky coffee shop inside the building itself. I look at being at the Front Room like any other sort of purgatory: you're stuck there so you might as well make the best of it. It's got all the elements of your archetypal waterfront raw bar -minus the cigarette smoke- and part of me wonders if there is an oversized ship wheel strategically placed in the kitchen. An entire side of the restaurant is glass paned so you may enjoy the view of the bay. It's too bad that the food doesn't stand up to the view of the water -or, I could stop complaining and just eat at the Cliff House- but I doubt anyone dining at the Front Room views this joint as some sort of "destination dining experience." The biggest chunk of irony is that while the food is nothing to write home about, the "chef de cuisine" rocks a toque. Another note on the atmosphere of this joint: they play KOIT 96.5 and as you might well know, this radio station's claim of providing "lite rock, less talk" is spot-on. As soon as my beer was served I heard the opening notes to Christopher Cross's "Sailing" and I was swept away into a sea of Yacht Rock calmness. Some Michael McDonald ensued and I even got to hear a Phil Collins tune. It seems as though KOIT's program director knew that I would be sucking down $5.00 Miller Lites waiting for my ferry into San Francisco. Pure magic. While it's true that the domestic beer is overpriced, you could also make the argument that the Newcastle is a value at the same price point. The food is no value however, but that is only because I envision the tasty plates that await me in the city while I'm choking down over-done Oysters Rockefeller. If I lived in Vallejo (thank you god for not letting that happen right now, by the way) I'd probably search out better food and if that wasn't possible, then I'd find my way back to the Front Room. The restaurant's saving grace however is the bathroom. It was immaculately kept and that is one area of the restaurant-albeit how it's always mentioned in reviews as being one of the most important quantifiers when gauging an establishment's overall cleanliness- that exceeded my expectations. You'll have to experience the lavatory for yourself to see what I mean, but it's a germaphobe's version of heaven. (Wierd: just as I finished typing heaven, Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" started playing on iTunes. -ed) By the way, the bartender will give you peanuts without your having to ask. That's all for the time being, as I need to go rock out now.

    This ought to be a great restaurant with it's absolutely five-star location next to the Ferry Building on Vallejo's waterfront. There could be a lot to like: lovely views of Mare Island (sunset, if you go in the evenings), a full bar, decent interior decor and adequate, if not especially polished service. Sadly, the food is, mostly, not good at all. I've been here four or five times and only once had a satisfactory meal, a turkey salad. Some of the debacles: trout, which I knew would be frozen, wasn't even good frozen trout, fish and chips which was a "special" (I guess by special they meant specially bad--the fish appeared to be some mushy extruded fish product covered deeply in breading, the accompanying chips were obviously frozen and poor quality, and the cole slaw must have been at least two or three days old, maybe a week). Even a safe bet like the grilled chicken breast sandwich was probably the most boring such sandwich I've ever had. Well, you get the idea. These people do not know how to cook, do not know quality food, and don't seem to care. If you go here, go for a drink at sunset, then, do yourself a flavor, go elsewhere to dine. Vallejo deserves better!

    If you love Clam Chowder you must visit Front Room at the Warf on a Friday or Saturday and bring a healthy appetite!!! HUGE bowl of the BEST piping hot Clam Chowder I have ever tasted!! Not on the menu and weekends ONLY ... I love this place for so many other reasons such as the great bar, all the great food, the wonderful service, the guy on piano, the view, the over-all warm feeling of the place. I have been going for years but when i stopped in on Friday evening and had a shrimp louie YUMMY and my husband ordered the HUGE BOWL of clam chowder it soo delish i had the share!!!!

    Although we haven't been there in a few months, but this place has great service, great food (I especially like the Terryaki Chicken), and they make a great pizza. The atmosphere is very pleasant, especially when they have live entertainment. I have a fond memory from childhood about eating in a place on the water, and I never forgot it. There is just something about it that I enjoy a great deal.

    This place is terrible! The service AND the food, with the exception of one cute little waitress who felt so bad for us that she gave us a piece of cake to take home (she wasn't our waitress, just knew we had a bad experience). The carbonara was greasy and bland, my fiance had the lasagne. It had huge chuncks of bell peppers in it (not included in the description) and he used 4 napkins to soak up all the grease on top of the lasagne. Our waiter just didn't give a crap whether we were there or not. Long Island Ice Tea was pretty good. We will never come back.

    You know this use to be our favorite place to go and have a bite to eat and have a few drinks. NO MORE!! We went there tonight 10/28 to watch the Giants game and have some appetizer's and drinks. However when it came time to pay for our food and drinks apparently the Owner's sister (you know who you are)who is in charge of the kitchen came to our table to see my ID because I paid with my credit card, which was fine. However my husband also pulled his wallet out too and she literary hit my husband's hand knocking his wallet out of his hand onto the table...now I don't care if your playing around or not, you do not put your hand's on NO ONE!!! We are paying customer's and she doesn't even know us like that. And then to top it off she started yelling at my husband and he yelled back causing a big scene! We are not ever going back to The Front Room, unless she is fired which I highly doubt since she is related to the owner. Which also makes her think she can do whatever she wants. That is too bad, we have been going there for many year's now...too bad it has to end this way.

    Wow Great place. My fiance and I went to the Vallejo Marina once and had no clue this place was even there as we stumbled upon it. The atmosphere is wonderful and the scenery is perfect. I've been here a few times and never have a problem getting a table at the window. The drunken chicken is one of the best recipes I've eaten, the crabcakes, pasta dishes, their bread, their minestrone soup!!!!!!!! Even the water they serve with all their meals, I could go there just for their water and breadsticks with butter. The only problem is the service. The service I must say is one of the worst and I've had to get quite firm a few times and demand that certain things be fixed. When they make a mistake they fix it but not without a headache, I imagine someone that is more of a pushover than I am would never get it fixed. They also like to put one or two things extra on your check so make sure they don't do that. I personally go to restaurants for the food and not the service so I really don't rate the service bad unless they try degrade me in some way.

    The food is good not great however the service is TERRIBLE!! I'm only giving two stars because the food was good. If it wasn't for the food they would get one star. Our visit started with the server seating us. We requested a highchair and had to wait for it while the server was watching the soccer game on tv. The entire time we were there our server was too busy watching the tv by the bar to help us and to top it off he was rude. Almost as if we were intruding on him watching the game. Also, my three year old had to go to the restroom so my wife took her and the toilet was full of # 2. She tried to flush it and it wouldn't flush. She reported it to the male manager and he said, " You have to hold the handle down until it flushes." My wife told him she did and it didn't flush and he got all upset and told her to use the restroom in the back. Another person had the same problem with the toilet and they told her to hold the handle down as well. After that we were completely ignored and given dirty looks by the male manager. It was pathetic. This restaurant is suppose to be nice however they can't even fix their toilet. Instead they tell all the customers to hold down the handle and wait. We asked for some hot water to warm our infants bottle and had to get up 4 times and ask different people before we actually got it because when we tried to get our servers attention, he pretended like he didn't see us. Mind you there were only 4 other tables. They nickel and dime you. 75 cents for extra salad dressing. 25 cents for a refill of soda. We were so ready to get out of there and never come back but we had to wait about 10 minutes for our bill after we requested it. We DO NOT recommend this restaurant and will never go back again.

    I used to come here last year but thought the beer prices were a bit high, so I stopped coming. Now after finding out a bunch of friends of mine come here I decided to come back. Well much to my surprise the draft beer prices went down a $1 . Now I'm like'n this place. Then I noticed everyone was ordering the Oysters Rockafeller and dang, no wonder. They are good and clean. Once you get to know the bartender you can get whatever you want fairly quickly. Introduce yourself and smile. For Vallejo, it's not bad. Oh and then again, there is that killer view of the river and sunset. Nice date place but more fun at the bar.

    For the price the food is great. I took my team from work there and for 7 people we kept the bill at about $100. Service staff could use a refresher on some good CS. Generous pours on the refreshments and just like everyone else, I thought the bread sticks are pretty good. I had the Seafood Combo and was happy. It reminds me of Sinbads in the City without spectacular view of the city. Other than that, no complaints everyone loved the food, but then again they didnt pay for it......I shall return!!!!

    There should be a ZERO star option because this establishment does not even deserve one star at all. People running this place (yes, you Manager Tran? Trunh?) is HORRIBLE. We are looking for a place to hold my dad's 60th birthday party. My sister had her son's christening here in 2007 and suggested we call them again to have my dad's birthday booked here. When I first called, the lady who answered put me on hold for 10 minutes and when I spoke to the manager (Tran?) - told me that she is not willing to give me information over the phone and I should go there personally and make a deposit before she can accomodate me. Are you serious? I told her that I am still looking around and just wants to get some pricing information since my sister already had a party here before. This is what she said: " Oh, it is very expensive here. It is $30 per person. And what is your sister's name? When did she have the party?" At this point my ears are already ringing and I am starting to get furious but I still told her that my sister's name and that it was in 2007. She then said: " You are lying, the Front Room at the Wharf was not open till 2008." Manager Tran - you are the most condescending, arrogant bitch I have ever encountered in my life! Do you not think we can afford $30 per person? Just to let you know, our budget for our dad's birthday - is $7,000.00. We are looking and have spoke to managers from Hiddenbrooke Golf Club, Scott's Seafood Restaurant, Benicia Yacht Club, Marriott Hotel etc. We are not fooling around idiot. You and your pathetic restaurant just lost not only one business with us but I can guarantee you, I will let everybody know how horrible you are and never to book any parties or events at your restaurant. Front Room at the Wharf opened in Vallejo in 1992 or something like that. And they were there in 2007 when my nephew had his christening party. Stupid idiot.

    My family used to eat here quite often a few years back. We just went back last week after a long absence.... it left a lot to be desired.... the prices went up. my food was bland, i had to add a ton of salt and pepper to give it some flavor, i'm not big on seafood, but my brothers seafood linguine tasted like fish. maybe it's supposed to taste like fish? i don't know, i'd never had it before that, but it didn't make me want to order it ever again, anywhere. My mom's meatball strogonoff tasted like they spilled to much wine in it. My dad liked his burger. I think he was the only one that liked his food.

    I've been to the Front Room twice in the last month or so. The first time was great - the seafood stuffed pasta shells were delicious! I like that they have pizza for the kids. Most of the rest of the menu is fairly old school Italian. Standard pastas, trout almondine, chicken piccata, dore, etc. My family enjoyed the crab salad, but I thought it a bit pricey at around $15. Yesterday we visited again for Mothers Day. They were BUSY! Again my food was good - spaghetti carbonara, but nothing to write home about. My sisters "Blue Cheese Burger" was a burger with blue cheese dressing. Um, hello? Most places actually put blue cheese on the burger. Which they did, once she asked. This time what I didn't like was that we were unluckily seated right under an A/C vent. And when that sucker came on it BLEW so hard my kids were laughing at my hair. NOT GOOD. Plus the owner or manager decided to come and loiter right by our table near the end of the meal. NOT GOOD EITHER. Pissed me right off. It's a holiday, people are going to linger over their meals with family. Plan your reservations accordingly.

    I expected the Front Room to be a fancy place...I like the fact that it is a casual place. Lots of variety on the menu. I had the pizza with my husband, good. The bar is great. This is a nice place to watch the sunset, enjoy a beer and good company. My husband likes the sandwiches when he goes there for lunch with his co-workers from Mare Island.

    all the (5?) times i've been here it's been a great place food and service wise all the way....i'll be a loyal visitor for years to come! twice been with my family, one time we were a pretty big group of 20+...and they waited on us very graciously. in particular i'm a fan of the wonderful cheese tortellini...or maybe i just really love cheese and will say that of anything stuffed with it. and the bar is great! very sociable, friendly bartenders. topped off my friends' drink when he happened to have a little extra over from making the exact same drink for another customer. a great place to chill on a weekend night...fireplace and all!

    The only criteria to give this restaurant a good rating is to have very mediocre expectations to begin with. Quality restaurants strive for an admirable showing at every dinner service. This clearly wasn't the case on a recent visit my family paid to Front Room at the Wharf. We had a window table and the view was great. The view was there before the restaurant, though, so no extra credit for that. In fact, quite the contrary; when you secure such a special location it becomes you responsibilty to serve food and service at a special standard. After we were seated and our drink orders were taken, we waited an eternity to receive them. After asking if our beverages had been taken hostage, we then we treated to seeing a table that had been seated AFTER us accepting their entrees before we received our food. When you bring a family of four to a restaurant charging the prices that the Front Room charges, this is the type of thing that will get your attention. When we brought the delayed service to our waiters attention, he chose to find humor in the situation that I failed to see. Once our entrees did arrive, there was no satisfying payoff. Frankly, the food was on par with something you would expect from Lyons (no offense, Lyons) and it was FAR below what you would expect from a similarly-priced restaurant in San Fransicso, Berkeley or Oakland. I live in Vallejo and I want businesses in Vallejo to do well. Accepting this level of mediocrity is not going to get us there.

    This is one of our "go to" restaurants. We have been there so often (although not quite as often recently) that the wait staff recognize us and even ask about the kids if they aren't with us. First of all, they are very nice and accomodating. I have noticed over the years that they have a number of waiters and waitresses that are long-term...always a good sign. Next, the food...someone else here mentioned the breadsticks...I can't tell you how many times I have had to make myself stop eating them so I wouldn't be too full for my entree. We love their deep dish pizza, very good and worth the 20 minute wait. I love their burgers! They are so good (and I am picky)....always cooked just right, bun toasted, crunchy pickles and lettuce, large portion...good fries, onion rings, alfredo pasta...these are my usuals. Oh, and the salad, I really like their bleu cheese dressing. I love the location and atmosphere, spacious, live music, at the waterfront (ok, so it's looking at all the crap across the way on Mare Island...but its not their fault). One of the few good places in Vallejo!

    This rather unassuming building is the home of Front Room at the Wharf, a pleasant restaurant on a great waterfront locale. They have a decent selection, ranging from burgers, pizza, steak, chicken, and fish. I'm a big fan of the Drunken Chicken. Breadsticks are complementary, service is good enough, and the view is unmatched for a casual restaurant. Much nicer than the thrilling view of the freeway and Best Buy Denny's offers. Pricing isn't unreasonable, and they have a bar as well.

    The food was just ok. Service was great. The atmosphere and decor is pretty good. I've only been here twice, and ironically I've ordered the same thing, years apart, when the old Front Room took over the old Pizza Hut when it was on Tuolomne and Redwood. I was a little disappointed with the food, but maybe I have to order a pizza or try something else, because it wasn't really satisfied this time around. Live music/pianist, fireplace, and panoramic windows of the water/Mare Island are a big plus.

    I usually end up at this place for birthdays and such... and for good reason theyr're pretty darn good, they have an awesome atmosphere and they're one of the few places in Vallejo to eat! I usually have their Drunken Chicken... It's pretty good, it has a nice sauce that covers it and comes with veggies and mashed potatoes (i think, i cant remember) - Meal comes with breadsticks and it's well worth the 10 bucks or so that you spend on it. If you're in Vallejo, and you want a pretty nice meal in a pretty nice place... I'd defnitely recommend this one. Enjoy!

    The view is nice. The food is just okay. It won't kill you, but you won't crave it either. They could use more vegetarian options. Their print menu has some wacky spellings that don't seem to be on their Web site - cheeze, sandwhiches, etc. They even had a shouffle special this weekend. I think the lack of spell checking the menu speaks to a bigger lack of attention to detail when it comes to the food itself.

    Really deserves zero stars. Deep dish pizza was good, but the service was absolutely TERRIBLE! The waitress barely came by to check on our party of 11 and when she brought an anchovy pizza instead of an artichoke/mushroom she had the audacity to have an attitude when we asked for the pizza to be remade! You'd think a manager would be apologetic and take care of it, but he came over with a rude attitude and suggested we just keep the anchovy pizza! And since we were a party of 11 we were forced to pay a gratuity of 20% even though the service in no way deserved it...

    Great restaurant. It was a real popular place in SF until they moved to Vallejo. Back in the days, this place would host mass of people. It's great to see they have their popular meals on their new menu. Always go for the deep dish pizza or the drunken chicken! Yummy! I wish they still had Michelob Dark Beer to go with it! In any case, the new restaurant has plenty of parking, more room and nice ambiance.

    in a pinch it will do...unless you want to wander up Georgia Street to China Wok...or up the waterfront to Zio Fraedo's or the Sardine Can. bottom line, it'll satisfy your hunger and everyone chats up the drinks...I have yet to try one so I really can't put my two cents in on that.     We ate at the Front Room for the first time on a chilly Friday night after work. We were surprised that the bar was packed and all of the window seats in the restaurant were already filled! The lighting is dim which enhances the view you have of the water. There was also a 360 degree fireplace that made the whole place warm and cozy. Being on the waterfront, we were fooled into ordering seafood dishes that we weren't too crazy about. But I've heard that their pizza and burgers are good, so we're willing to give this place another chance. Great place to have a romantic meal.....

    As a previous patron at the SF locations I am biased because I love the food and the owner(s) are very generous once you get to know them. If you order pizza you have to order deep dish style. I recommend the Chinese BBQ pizza. It has a ton of cheese and the barbecue pork is the bomb. As far as dishes i don't think you can go wrong with the Drunken Chicken.

    Great view, mediocre food although the bread sticks are good. Not a very creative menu. Inconsistent service, sometimes slow. There are a couple of good wait staff but too often the service is rude, inattentive and poorly trained. That is management's fault and the owner is a jerk. Eaten here over a dozen times and every time there's something wrong or off. One time I was served a burger with mold on the bun, When I brought it to the waiter's attention, he took my plate away, did not apologize, nothing. All the people I know who've eaten here say pretty much the same thing. I stopped going to the Front Room over a year ago and I will never go back. The only reason why it's still in business is because of its location with the waterfront view. Certainly the food and service alone will not cut it. I ditto the other reviewer in saying THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE!

    I have been eating at this establishment for the last 2 years and the quality has steadily been going downhill. My last trip there was the final straw. They bring warm breadrolls when you are seated and we noticed a couple of ants crawling around and one got into my beer. They brought more bread after not believing we saw ants- and the new bread also had ants. They threw the bread and ants away under their bar. We ordered our meals and the salad makings were not fresh and the shrimp on my salad was frozen. My wife's drunken chicken came laced with onions (which was not mentioned on the menu). We told the waitress that it was not acceptable and to please bring her a burger- medium. When it arrived- the middle was completely raw- like it had been frozen and not completely thawed. When the manager finally came over to our table -he did not appologize and charged us for our drinks. His attitude was terrible and the food had slipped to a level of cheapness and unhealthiness. Do not go to this restaurant and stay away from their bar. I hate to say bad things but we almost got sick and hate ants with our food unless it is an outdoor picnic.

    A great local joint on a Friday night to enjoy cocktails with friends. Their calamari is yummy! The salads could be better though the seafood pasta and pizzas are great. The live piano music and waterfront views add to a pleasant ambience. We've always gotten great service, desserts, and cocktails here.

    We randomly stopped here after a business meeting to get a bite to eat. It is supposed to be next to the water, however, it is not one of the waterfront views you would enjoy. I tried the Front Room Burger with onion rings. It was good for a burger and ok for onion rings. I wouldn't go out of my way to get this, I'd rather go to the Counter at Santana Row. The bad: Slow Service.

    PLEASE DO NOT EAT HERE!!! I FOUND A ROACH ON THE TABLE!!! I was at the front room with some coworkers enjoying our lunch hour. To my dismay, I noticed a roach crawling on our table. We immediately told the waitress, she went and got the manager. The manager came and NOTHING right. All he did was take one meal of our bill. We asked that he please not charge us and he refused. The manager gave us a lot of attitude and made it even worse for us. We were all disappointed, and felt pretty degusted by the entire situation. NEVER AGAIN

    The food was great. I ordered this portobello mushroom stuffed with crab dish--yum. The rest of the dishes also looked exquisite. Too bad we missed the sunset since we arrived post 8:00PM. I'd suggest arriving earlier if you want to catch the sunset over the water which I imagined would have been very nice. Furthermore, to set a nice vibe in the room, there was live music--a pianist. When I went Friday night, it wasn't that busy. They were able to accommodate my group of 6. I guess I wouldn't worry about reservations here unless it's a holiday or something. Would I come again? Yes, nice joint at the Vallejo Marina.

    We love the Front Room! They have the best crab cakes on the west coast - and I'm an ex-Baltimore gal! The restaurant has an array of nice dishes, but the crab cakes are by far the best. Bloody mary's are also quite good. Service is always very friendly and prompt. The restaurant is right on the water, so be sure to get a table by the window (there are lots of them, so it's usually not a problem).

    My uncle treated the family here at least 12 of us they were very accommodating the food was better than I was expecting (real good), nice view by the water , very clean and the water/staff was so friendly. Looking forward to coming back and trying something different next time.

    Came here today since we were in the area. Seems like a very old establishment based on the run down interior. To start out we weren't greeted by anyone once we walked in the door so it was a bit confusing where we should go to be seated. We sat by the window, and wanted to open the disgusting roll up blinds since they were splattered with food, but the sun was right there. I had to use the restroom and noticed a smell I couldn't quite place. We ordered a Chicken Sandwich/Soup and a Hamburger/Fries and a couple drinks. The waitress told us there would be an extra $2 charge for Clam Chowder, but I was willing to pay that. The food and drinks were yummy, but when the bill came I noticed there was an extra charge of $4 for the Clam Chowder. When we brought it to the attention of the waitress she apologized and said she'd only been there 2 months and didn't know the prices. She offered to just give us cash back since we already paid with our credit card.

    Went to Front Room last evening and ordered Spaghetti & Ravioli and was Very disappointed. Sauce was totally TASTELESS, unless you think bell pepper is the taste of spaghetti sauce. The sauce was really just big chunks of hamburger, chunks of tomatoes and bell pepper. GROSS! No flavor. When I complained, the manager or cook? came out and argued with me. Said she makes it 5 times a week...yikes! Very unprofessional. I love their drunken chicken and the scalloped potatoes are great. But will NEVER order anything italian there again. And will certainly spread the word to my friends who go there. They need a chef that knows alittle about cooking italian flavors....this stuff really sucked!!!

    Quick review: Food: Pizza & Onion Rings (5/5) Came with a group and ordered their deep dish pizza 1/2 Acapulco (ground beef, tomatoes, onions, jalapenos) and 1/2 Everybody's Favorite (pepperoni and mushrooms atop a whole lot of cheese). Pizza was delicious and came out verrry nice and cheesy. The crust was soft and delicious -- not too greasy. Onion rings were nice and crunchy. Yum :) Service: 5/5 Constantly refilled our water and even served our pizza for us! :) The waitress was very nice and friendly. If you get the feeling of wanting to leave a pretty nice tip -- the service must be great. Overall -- I would try this place again.

    COULD HAVE BEEN 4 STARS!! It's just the little things in life, right. Ok, so the food was 4 stars, as well as the draft beer--they had Racer 5 on tap--all good. But look how easy the 4 slipped away with the simplest of requests from A PAYING CUSTOMER!! Me: "Hi. Do you know the password to your Wifi? Server: "No, I don't know the password." So at this point the only 2 acceptable answers to the customer should be: 1). "No I don't know the password, but I'll find out and get back to you", or 2). "I'm sorry, but the management does not allow customers to use their Wifi.". With a little common courtesy, so easy to give your star rating a bullet to the next star!!

    I have eaten here a few times and I really don't want to eat here again.the food is mediocre at best. view is a good reason to enjoy the space,but only for drinks.I have enjoyed reading others reviews of this restaurant,very entertaining.

    Came here for dinner had seafood pasta linguini it was pretty good. Sandwiches are great here too had club sandwich, steak sandwich and grilled chicken sandwich all were pretty consistent. And a great view of the waterfront.

    Came here randomly on weekday to have dinner, and service was very so-so. It took a couple minutes to get us seated because the waitresses looked overwhlemed with the large parties that were there that night. Honestly, I don't remember what I ordered so I guess the food wasn't memorable. But I do remember the bread was pretty good, and seemed to be freshly baked. The ambiance is very old--fashioned, mostly locals, and waitresses looked like they work at Denny's. Nothing spectacular about the food, like i said I don't even remember what I ordered. The views overlooking Mare Island was alright, but nothing to be excited about. Overall i had an ok experience, but I feel the place needs to be updated.

    Let me just say this first. DO NOT GET JOYCE AS YOUR SERVER. She is a horrible server. I have been a server and in the customer service game for many years so I know what the difference between giving and getting great service is. She is just down right horrible. She must not be very happy at home or at her job because its displayed in her attitude and her demeanor. Which is probably why she give s bad customer service in the first place. It was my birthday celebration so we were looking to have a good time and like most group parties, not everyone showed up on time. We had about half our party at the table and she asked "Are you guys going to order soon, it's been almost an hour?" Now there was no wait in the restaurant. It was practically half empty for a sat night. It didn't make sense for her to rush us into ordering. And Its totally rude for us to order dinner when the rest of our party isn't even present. Once everyone arrived, she mentioned to the other half of the table that clam chowder was an extra charge, but clearly the other half of the table did not hear since you are only addressing only half of the table. When my friend inquired about the extra charge, she literally yelled back at her and said "oh yes I did tell you there was a charge, I told the other half of the table!" WTF she was sitting on the other end, how could she had known? And besides that, she didn't have to address the question in that manner so rudely. Throughout the night, she delayed in refilling our waters, bread and had an attitude the whole night. While evaluating her service I was waiting for her to redeem herself but it did not happen. At the end of the meal, we did not feel she deserved the gratuity displayed on the check and asked for the manager. The manager was also rude and kept defending herself and would not listen to a word we were saying. She kept saying " I can't read minds..." She thought we were complaining about the food but we were complaining about the service and did not want to tip her that much. Anyways the manager went to the extreme by putting her hands on my boyfriends arm. Don't ever touch the customer in such a way that you are trying to persuade your side of the argument! That was just the icing on the cake. I could not believe how rude and unprofessional this establishment is. Once again. If you do come here, DO NOT HAVE JOYCE AS YOUR SERVER. If you do, you are in treat for a rude awakening. The food was good tho. Don't get me wrong there is a reason I come back to this place but after a continuous spree of this kind of treatment, I do not see myself coming back.

    I have been here 3 times, and each time have ordered something different. I love this food and it is now my go to restaurant with my boyfried, who lives in the area. Comfort food, at it's best! The teriaki steak and augratin potatos are delicious!

    We ate here last weekend. Been here a couple times now, but I think I'm done with this place. Nice atmosphere and great waterfront location with great views of the Mare Island shipyards. But the food is substandard. Everything is bland and tasteless, and the menu is uninspired. I had trout almandine which tasted like nothing. It was served with the same tasteless cold potatoes au gratin I remember from the last time I visited. Went in hungry and lost my appetite as soon I started eating. They also need a better beer selection and maybe a wine list, plus a decent chef. It's a real shame, because this is such a prime location, but the food really sucks.

And honestly, the only reason I went here last night was because it was a friend's birthday dinner. I would never choose to go here on my own. Now let me just tell you about our horrible experience... 1. Our waitress was never to be seen. The busboys paid more attention to us! They deserved the tip, not her. And when she did come around she would have a terrible attitude when we'd ask for simple things, like spoons for our soup. 2. The water tasted like chlorine and when we asked for new pitchers, the waitress rolled her eyes with an annoyed look on her face. 3. I had shown up about 10 mins late and my friends told me that the waitress was practically forcing them to order their entrees with less than half of the party present. 4. When we got the bill we were all charged $2 for "upgrading" our soups from Minestrone to Clam Chowder. When I told the waitress that she did not tell us there was an extra charge she raised her voice at me saying she did. I have 10+ witnesses that could back me up. 5. I asked a man that seemed to be the manager if we could speak to him about our service because did not feel a $60 gratuity was appropriate for the terrible service. He tried leading me to the back where the real manager was and I refused to follow him. I ask him to tell her we'd like to speak to her at our table but he kept on insisting I follow him. Of course I did not. I am a customer, sir. 6. When when manager came out we explained the situation to her, saying we had given the waitress plenty of opportunities to give us good service but her attitude escalated and we were not happy customers. We told her that we are willing to pay for our food because the food wasn't the problem, it was the waitress. The manager got extremely defensive and started raising her voice at us. She even placed her hands on me and another friend! My friend even had to said to her "Please don't touch me again." The service is by far the worst I have ever seen. There were waitresses standing around watching TV and hanging out at the bar. The "manager" was at the bar drinking wine! The place was practically empty on a Saturday night and we still didn't get any attention. There are plenty of other places to eat. Don't subject yourself to to terrible service, a manager that doesn't know the meaning of personal space, mediocre food, chlorine tasting water, dirty silverware and bitchy waitresses named JOYCE. This place should have their "awards" taken away. READ THE FILTERED REVIEWS!
