I use to love going to this place w/my family because of Cindy. After not going there for a long time, we decided to stop by for lunch. This place has changed a lot, looks like it's not being kept up. Regardless, we still decided to sit and order food. My daughter and I decided to split a sandwich. As I was removing the tomato from my daughters sandwich, I saw a piece of plastic in it! Yes, PLASTIC!! The excuse the waitress gave me was that maybe the cook didn't notice the plastic since the turkey comes wrapped in it. Really?? Makes me not want to return to the restaurant.

I still frequent Good Day when I'm back home and craving breakfast. Aside from the food being consistently tasty, the staff here are always friendly. These people love their jobs! They say customer service is a lost art; knowing that I can return here time and again and receive some of the best service means more to me than anything else.

Good day had testimonials on their front windows as sonoma's or vallejo's best of 2010 or whatever. i usually regard these as self serving. after i ate, i knew my initial reaction was correct. something during the last century, this dwelling was an house. now converted to an eatery, it has vibrant homespun ambience. but as everyone dining here seems to be a +1 , pounds wise, moving around, getting up from tables, going to the john is an exercise in naval maneuvers, (vallejo used to be good at this) everyday civilians would find this arduous and annoying. sampling: *farmers something special", no signs, prints, just orally presented and the waitress didn't present both specials, just saying the chicken was wonderful. (13.95) -3 piece fried chicken, heavily breaded small pieces, not juicy, meat dry. church's is better. no indication fresh chicken was used. chicken tasteless. -biscuit with gravy on top. gravy was peppery spicy and lukewarm. turned cool after awhile --country potatos, lots of fresh, bland cutted up red tats. -2 eggs over just laid there. didn't roll over. didn't expect it to, just saying. eggs weren't sexy anyways. *coffee(2.25)tasted burnt, probably farmers coffee. ugh! foodnotes: -typical breakfast menu -expected specials to be "special", not a profit center for the house. -service was great. food not -not one food item on point, hot gravy would have been nice. -salsa brought from kitchen was bland. -food filling from the biscuits and 'tats. nothing tasty save gravy. -later found "mention yelp" get 10% off. (hint: save your $$).....

After hearing about Good Day Cafe from a group of locals I trust, I had to check it out for myself. My husband and I were in town to visit family, so we gathered up a large group and marched on down to this Downtown Vallejo joint. (Okay, okay, I was born and grew up in Vallejo. But, it took me actually moving away and visiting family for me to have the opportunity to go to this place.) We called ahead and were able to reserve a group for 8. We had two young kids, and they had high-chairs, so that was awesome. Their menu, for a diner, is extensive. Anything you want, they probably have. Since it was brunch, everyone in the group ended up ordering breakfast, but I'm a fries kind of gal, so I got lunch. And, apparently, enough to eat for dinner, and breakfast the next day. Big Ben burger, which had 1 lb of meat on it. That's right, 1 lb. I was hungry when I ordered it (obviously), so I was ready to take on the challenge when they brought this monstrosity to my table. In true Man vs. Food fashion, I set to it meating the meat first and then stuffing my face with the carbs. Oh. My. Goodness. Meaty and cheesy goodness, with great fries on the side. Needless to say, I had to get help to clear the plate, but for only $12, can you really beat it? The meat tasted great, everything was hot and fresh, thumbs up GDC! You earned my respect.

The perfect American eatery for breakfast/lunch until 3 p.m. Huge portions excellently cooked and served fast with unlimited coffee. Liz (daughter of the house) was effervescently welcoming. For what you get, fairly priced ($15 incl tip and tax) for a huge brunch.

We tried this out on a Wednesday morning. It was great. The place had a nice feel and the server was super friendly! Tori i think her name was. The food came out fast and hot. I had the gravy biscuit the closest thing I have had here that reminded me of home, South Carolina. My friend had the french toast and ever flowing coffee. The down side - the price is little more then what you would have expected and the bread pudding was not so good as i had hoped.

This is a locally owned restaurant located in downtown V-town. We bet the locals will object, but we found the Good Day Cafe to be a bit overpriced considering the food. With that said, we enjoyed our meal. We had the Georgia Cobb salad. Keep in mind that the Cobb salad is traditionally served on a bed of lettuce with all of the rest of the ingrediants piled on top. Frankly, we'd prefer if restaurants would toss the salad to make it easier to eat, but what can we do about that? When we asked if they'd toss our salad, our waiter referred us to the Townhouse across the street...

This is a nice, warm and friendly place with great food. A light in downtown Vallejo. They offer alot of variety with different entrees. I also liked all the art work and pictures/paintings throughout.

This is really a quite nice little place, for what it is. It's a mom-and-pop restaurant (rather than a big corporate chain), and that sensibility is palpable. And it's obvious in the quality of the food, too. It just plain feels like a small-town diner, with good food, nice staff, good prices... all the little things which make one want to go often. I specify the place as often as possible whenever someone wants to have an over-lunch meeting or something. I also stop-in every now and then just... well... just because. I really like the place. You will, too. Give it a try. You won't regret it.

I love diner food, and this place is alright. The waitresses are very friendly and helpful. The food leaves a bit to be desired, but it's not bad. The Yelp check-in offer is a definite plus. Like other reviews, I would say that the coffee is "Meh".

  • Samantha H.

Im sorry to say but this place is a over priced for the quality, even with the 10% discount from yelp. I was rather excited to come eat here because I love breakfast foods and yelp seemed to be saying this was the best in Vallejo. As I entered the little cafe, i thought it had a great atmosphere: an old school country feel with names of good and loyal patrons throughout the walls. My company and I sat down and service was pretty quick. We received our waters right away and ordered. I got a standard scrambled eggs, sausage and pancakes. My friends got waffles, and some sort of an eggs benedict ( form what I can remember). The eggs benedict may not of been that but more of a biscuit with egg and some other layers atop it. Although I dont remember what It was, I remember if being the best thing on the table. My eggs were just average and the sausages were subpar. They tasted like the cheap food maxx brand. The most disappointing part for me was the pancakes. I LOVE pancakes. They are awesome when made correctly - but the pancakes at Good Day Cafe were...bland..and might I say...rubbery? It wsn't sweet or butterymilky..They weren't quite fluffy either. I was so disappointed..but...if you're a pancake lover like me....pancakes make meal. anyways..portions were quite small and when the bill came I was a little overwhelmed. Even with the 10% discount for yelp, the total was more than $30. The service was good...but it wasn't enough to make up for the food. We paid and left thinking ...Meh...I've had better.

This is the best brunch spot in Vallejo and I am in love... I ate there twice with a friend and their breakfast is on point. The first time I went there I tried their Joe Bro's French Toast section with the french toast combo and it was delish. The second time I went there I had the everything but the kitchen sink deal where you can mix 5 items in a omelette including two meats. I had their Good Day Omelette including with pepper jack, and tomatoes and green peppers and mushrooms and boy it was just amazing to stuff all that into one. The coffee was okay, nothing special but their pineapple upside down cake was scrumptious. If you want to get away from your usual Vallejo neigborhood, be sure to stop to downtown and on Saturdays at Farmer's Market.

Last sunday it was not a "good" day but an okay day. This place seems to be like one of those places that is filled with regulars everday. It's like "Cheers" but without the bar. The decor is very personal--Homey. Not to crowded, seating wise. So moving on to the food, I had the POPEYE Omelette with jack cheese, a side of hash and toast. The omelette was really really good. The hash browns were disgustingly cold, soggy and beyond greasy. It cannot be a complete satisfactory meal if half the dish does not taste good. But, I might return and when I do, I will avoid the hashbrowns.

"where everybody knows your name..." This place is so cute! I truly enjoyed my experience here because I love mom and pop joints that serve very yummy food. This place totally fit the bill. We were seated quickly and because we sat at a table near the check in booth... we got to see how amazing their customer service was. The greeter/hostess knew almost everyone who walked in the door. She hugged them and took special care of them. You just don't see customer service like this anymore. I truly felt at home. It was an eclectic mix of people... everyone had one goal in mind - EAT GOOD FOOD. And that we did. My daughter had the mickey mouse pancakes with bacon. She ate every bite. The hubby had waffle with sausage... he ate it all up. It came with eggs and he said they were the best he'd ever had (after mine of course, lol). I tried the biscuits and gravy w/ bacon.. and the home fries. WOW... super delicious. the serving was really enough for two so I had a ton left over. The potatoes were so good! This is our new family brucnh spot. 5 stars for Good day cafe!!!

I've eaten here several times for breakfast and it has always been a great experience, I always sit outside on the patio in the sun. The food is always great and it's fun finding new meals on their very eclectic menu. Service has also always been great. They work hard and are very friendly. It's definitely my favorite breakfast place in Vallejo, and it's all a good price!

First thing I want to say is that I'd rather come here than go to The Joy of Eating (another breakfast/brunch joint in Vallejo). I ordered the Corn Beef Hash and Eggs (this is the most popular dish). This dish was worth it. I like how they added the green onions and such. The biscuit and gravy that it came with was delicious. The Hot and Spicy Omelette was also remarkable. The restaurant is a nice part of town, by the way. Don't forget to tell them that you heard about them via Yelp so you get 10% off your bill!

We love coming here on weekends for breakfast! We always get excellent service and the food is great. The atmosphere is cozy and great for children. They really think about the whole family. Our children especially love picking out a toy at the end of our meal from the toy basket!

I wish I had thoroughly read all reviews before trying this place. I feel like I just wasted my Sunday morning by eating here. First of all, service was lacking and our server was kind of a ditz. Food took forever to get - at least 25 minutes. Enough time for our waitress to come out and apologize for the kitchen staff - Lame. Ordered the bacon & egg breakfast with a biscuit instead of toast. My husband ordered the French toast. PROS: Scrambled eggs were cooked right, not over done. Hashbrowns were very crispy and tasty. Bacon cooked well. Coffee was decent. CONS: Hashbrown portion was small. Bacon was cold. Biscuit was SMALL! Smaller than the palm of my hand. What a joke. French toast = flat and tasteless. Waste of money. Will not dine here again. Period.

This was a delicious little hole-in-the-wall diner. I ordered the chicken fried steak and it was delicious!! The hash browns were slightly undercooked and overly greasy but not inedible. I would definitely eat here again.

Two words: YUM-YUM. Now I've been coming here since it was Georgia St. Grille and I am such a creature of habit. I always order the Chicken Fried Steak with island style rice and english muffin. Now, it get's REALLY tricky when the seasons change either juice or tea. Decisions, decisions. Otherwise, I am happy as a clam eating the same thing here because it's just THAT delicious. I know for some people it's hit or miss but for me it's always a grand slam! Love it. Mean it. Totally wish they were open for dinner!

I give this place 3 stars for the great service we got from our waitress. She was super nice and attentive and she even gave my friends kid a toy at the end. I didn't have the heart to tell her my meal was awful when she asked. This is one of those places I really wanted to like-it's cute and homey and it seems like the owners take pride in their business (so maybe they need to hear this) but the food was terrible. Trailer park food. I ordered scrambled eggs with cheese, hash brown's and a biscuit. Hard to screw up. The scrambled eggs were flat and lifeless (like the cook didn't know how to scramble an egg?). There was a square of cheddar melted on top. I was thinking they would incorporate some shredded cheese into the scramble? it was a rubbery mess when I tried to eat it. The biscuit was tiny and tasted like Bisquick, no flavor. The home fries were undercooked, small red potatoes sliced up (not diced) and pan fried with onions and peppers. The only thing I ate, but i wanted those home fries and these were not. My friend got this hashbrown sausage casserole thing (some Paula Deen recipe) and she said it was ok but the bottom of her dish had the thickest layer of grease under it. It completely grossed her out-she had to take a napkin to sop up the excess grease. I'm not a cook at a restaurant but I suggest draining the fat off the ground sausage after you cook it? Her son got some pancakes which I helped him eat because I was still hungry and they also tasted like bisquick-bland and his scrambled eggs were flat and lifeless too. Then there's the prices-I think the food is definitely not worth the high price. My friend ordered a biscuit on the side and they charged her something like $2.85. We couldn't believe it! I mean if it was one of those big yummy buttermilk buscuits grandma makes then ok but this thing was terrible. And she had no idea this special casserole she ordered was $15.00. Really? For that? And the coffee was that truck stop watered down crap. Overall we were so disappointed and we left feeling like we mise as well have thrown $50.00 out the window. And we left hungry. I don't know why my experience was so bad, everyone else seems to rave about this place? Maybe it was the line cook that was in the kitchen that day? I could have made way better food at home.

First time worst experience. We were seated and was never greeted by the server. I noticed two tables that were seated about 10 minutes after us have their drinks served. We were obviously ready to order and wanted drinks. I had my family get up off their seats out of pure disappointment. It was new staff that I didn't recognize. Prices have significantly increased. I am to write this review from the Buttercup Kitchen. My new favorite neighborhood restaurant. Too bad it wasn't good at the Good Day Cafe. Bad Day Cafe!!!

Great menu (wide variety of breakfast and lunch items), awesome service from knowledgeable, attentive, friendly staff, and fun location, especially during/right after Saturday Farmer's Market (when you can people watch, hear the music, see the vendors). There are 4 outdoor tables (dog-friendly!) with umbrellas. The food is consistently good and the prices are decent too (plus you get a 10% discount if you mention Yelp!). Can see this easily becoming a routine!

Yes, you read the reviews either before coming here or as you walked in, and the answer is yes. Get the Serena omelet. Crab. Avocado. Bacon. Get the Serena omelet with country potatoes, home made corn bread, and the side salsa they say is special to them. The salsa isn't all that, but it makes for a nice touch if you're like me and like a hit of spiciness to basically anything you eat (though I ended up brushing my omelet with the darker, pepper, bottled hot sauce on the table and that was amazing). The service isn't as quality as the food. It's busy-- but don't worry, even though you're told 10-15 minutes, its more like 7-10. Things seem to move quick... which was odd because I felt like our waitress was always just a step behind. We didn't get waters at our table (and my girlfriend started choking on food and there was like nooooo one in sight to bring us water). I asked our waitress what kind of tea they served, and she couldn't name one, so she brought over a couple random packets. Also, I wonder if she just had too many tables, because though the food was good, it wasn't hot. Like it had been sitting up at the counter for a few minutes before she got around to bringing it to us. Ultimately though, our waitress was friendly. But she definitely was the make/break on the that 5th star, which I didn't end up giving. I would definitely come back for some down home grub.

If you are looking for the perfect Diners, Drive-ins and Drives place, this is it. The people who work here are the friendliest and the food is very good. I didn't have the corned beef hash which I sort of regretted, but will have it when I come back. Had the garden omelette which was really fresh plus the cornbread. The thing I like the best about GDC is that they DO NOT just move you along. And I noticed all around me were families and tables of regulars (with the staff knowing everyone's names) and screaming kids who the women that work at GDC took not just in stride but really helped calm with a toy basket and great manner about them. For those of you who won't come to Vallejo, stop it. Support these good people. Great food. Great service. A place that deserves your business.

Cute, little restaurant! Such a ma & pa feel, I love it! You walk in & let the hostess at the podium know how many are in your party. They will let you know how many minutes the wait is. It was a Saturday morning, so it was pretty busy, 20-25 minute wait. They had a waiting area on the other side of the wall but it was so gorgeous out so we walked outside for a bit. OH! If you're here on a Saturday morning, the Vallejo Farmers Market is right outside, from 9am - 2pm, I believe :) You can wander for a little bit while you wait. Their waiting area has a little gift shop that has mugs, magnets & wall art that have inspirational quotes on them :) Pick me ups, if you will. We were seated and the seats/booths were super cute. They had pictures & art on the wall from local artists. They had names of regulars for each table, pretty cool. Our waitress was super friendly & attentive :) Took our orders & you can tell they make everything fresh because it took a while to get our food but let me tell you, it was worth the wait. I ordered the Lola & Popa Gamulo's Garden Omelet. It's a omelet loaded with spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes & zucchini's :) Vegetarian's dream! I got a side of country potatoes which were HEAVEN! So good! I had a side of wheat toast as well, they butter their toast, FYI! A plus! It was a big portion but I was starving so I finished it. They have a Yelp check-in special that gives your 10% off your order when you show them your check-in, the waitress was quite familiar with it. It is stated on the menu that there is a $1.50 charge for splitting the bill, FYI. Will I be back? Of course! Love little restaurants like this & it's in the heart of downtown Vallejo!

Check in for a 10% off discount! A teeny bit of a wait to be seated, I'd say it's worth it. Coffee could use some pepping up, hard to please the masses though. I will be fair and say my cup was never in danger of being empty! While waiting for our food we witnessed the most amazing towering hot chocolate mugs float by. My breakfast was excellent. Typical two eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, and toast. Maybe it's been awhile since I've had sourdough bread (I'm away at school in an unnamed place where "fancy bread" doesn't exist), but the toast was AMAZING. I also want to commend the cooks for the ridiculously yummy hashbrowns. Fun hot sauces on the table to experiment with, but the homemade salsa they offer is worth a try, too!

Breakfast is not my fave meal of the day but my friend loves it and to me, something you can't really mess up. Good service....always someone walking around to replenish coffee, but Rose, the manager is quite the multi-tasker...she is taking orders and directing staff so you seem a little rushed in ordering while she's slightly distracted. That's fine, she's a hardworking woman! Food standard...eggs cooked as requested, toast browner than usual (almost like a crouton) but edible...the next table ordered a bowl of fruit which consisted of sliced orange and banana....something you can make at home for a fraction of the price and my first thought was 'really?' I know the gentleman wasn't too happy with that 'fruit bowl'. Hmmm Breakfast a little pricey....$25. Great place for families as they offer a bucket full of goodies for the kids to pick from. Nice touch.

If there was only a -1 star. This review is purely based on the lack of service. Their motto is apparently great food and excellent service. HA! Maybe mgmt should remove that motto. We arrived with high hopes and an empty stomach. We wanted to leave town on a good note. We were seated immediately. Waited nearly 30 mins before someone acknowledged us and asked for our drink order. A family of 4 seated next to us was taken well care of in terms of service; they got their order in and food delivered in merely 15 mins. We wished we had their server. To at which we got up and left. Anyways, maybe you have to be a local to get good service here. I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!

This was awful! I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich (about $13). NOT what I expected. The chicken was tiny, it was super sloppy, and it was made with plain ol Sara Lee buns. I ordered the cucumber salad on the side , and it was sooo disgusting. I will never be back. Way overpriced and I'm very disappointed:(

To be honest, I was a little skeptical of this place, but after we got in and got seated I was so glad I came in to try this place! The customer service was outstanding and the food and portion size was good. I liked the coffee, and I believe the coffee was from Moschetti. I had the corn beef hash and fried rice. The corn beef was good, but the fried rice was okay. This is definitely a "come again" place for us and next time I'll take my kids who I think are a harder critic than me.

So many good memories of breakfasts with the family here. It's a local hot spot and there's extra parking behind the building. The staff is very friendly and courteous. Food portions are huge. The price is fair and the menu selection is pretty big. It's a warm and cosy environment and kids get to choose a free present on their visit. There are tables in front of the restaurant for those who want to enjoy the sun and fresh air.

One of the weird things about gentrification is that San Francisco doesn't seem to really have many diners anymore. Don't get me wrong, there are a select few that I treasure: Hamburger Haven in the Richmond, Art's in the Sunset, Louis' at Land's End, and Joe's out on Geary are notables, but it seems that everywhere I look, diners are disappearing. You know the sort of place that I'm talking about: big portions, friendly faces, unlimited coffee refills. Neighborhood gathering spots, places my grandfather would travel around the state to find are being replaced with "diners" that cater to the artesianal, organic, monied crowd who are willing to wait in line for endless hours. There is nothing for me in those places. Yet, on a morning before I was going to do some SERIOUS wine tasting in Napa, and when I had to wake up much too early to get there, Good Day Cafe was serving up exactly what I needed: dense, calorie-rich food alongside gallons of caffeine. Wandering into an interior of orange and green walls, rich scents of percolating coffee and scrambled eggs, and the sounds of short-order cooks, I knew that I had come to the right sort of place. I was quickly seated by a smiling waitress, and almost immediately poured a healthy dose of coffee (which was a little on the dark, overextracted side...but hey, just like my grandfather, I'm a quantity over quality guy at diners). Because I am a man of little self-control, ordering a "Country Scramble" (11.95) seemed like just the sort of thing to do. The scramble was good, but not outstanding. I liked the freshly scrambled eggs, and the light, fluffy biscuits were a fantastic base to properly-cooked sausage. While the gravy was non-descript (although texturally good) it provided a nice counterpoint to the excellent country potatoes, which came with a good char and some finely diced green onions. Although most of my dish was livened up with a judicious application of Pepper Plant Hot Sauce (one of my favorites), the salt/fat balance was spot on across the board. It was a great beginning to a boozy day. Overall: 3.5 Stars rounded up for good service. A classic American diner in downtown Vallejo. I'll definitely return. Extras: Coffee Refill Count: 4 (16 ounce mugs, 35 minutes) A two minute walk from the Vallejo Transit Center, about seven minutes away from the Ferry and SolTrans 200. Credit Cards accepted.

Was looking for a brunch place that was opened on Memorial Day & we found this hole in the wall! Although I can't judge its usual outside environment, but because it was a holiday, the streets were empty, seemed like a ghost town, but the cafe was bustling. Anyways, one tip: do NOT order the French Toast Combo... When I think of French toast, I think of thick, yeasty brioche-like bread. The French toast here were thin, white sandwich bread. That was a BIG disappointment. I think I have made better French toast at home than what I got here. (I actually compared my toast slices to my French toast & yeap! They sure are similar) On a brighter note, everything else was delicious. My side of eggs & bacon were OK. The corned beef hash was flavorful and their side of red country fried potatoes were SOO good! It had a nice grilled taste to it. Our side of hash browns were crisped to perfection. Overall, this cafe spot had good food, but if you live on the other side of the bridge, I don't think it's worth the $5 or $6 toll to eat here.

This place is cute, has a great menu, and pretty good food. This place is adorable, every table has a different mug with various quotes, they offer toys to children at the end of the meal. The interior is fairly large, seating, is a little close, but nothing to truly complain about. The food, was pretty good, although, my country potatoes were a little underdone. The menu offers an excellent variety of breakfast items, as well as lunch. The only complaint I have was with my server, she was friendly, however she was forgetful. I had to ask for creamer a few times. To be fair, she was probably just tired because it was a holiday. She also disappeared for a break, and never returned. Overall, this place is a good breakfast spot, on the weekends there is a farmers market, so if you want to make a day of it you can.

Good place to have American Breakfast . The Popeye omelet is good and stuffed with mushrooms. The home made cheesecake is so yumm!

I met my best friend here for breakfast and am ever so happy I did and will definitely do so again! I had eggs over medium with homestyle potatoes, sour dough toast and the most perfect thick melt in your mouth bacon. My girlfriend had the blackbean omlet. We shared the most delicious tender thin pancakes that have crispy edges and they will bring you Nutella to eat with the pancakes. The meal was amazing. They serve Mochette coffee which I am told is a local roaster. The coffee was very good. Each cup is served in an inspirational mug that they also have for purchase in mugs and cards. The Servers were AMAZING! Very friendly and cheerful! I will most definately be going again! It truly is as other reviews have said "a gem"of Vallejo!

A charming downtown staple, I love going here for brunch any day of the week. Our server was Remy, who gave us fantastic service from beginning to end. The savory Corned Beef Hash is a must try, and the French toast is delicious as well. You can also customize your order, so if you want spinach in your scrambled eggs, they will happily oblige. The portions are HEAPING, so come with a hungry belly. I must add that they are kid-friendly, they even gave us a little take-home treat for our toddler. P.S. They are Yelp lovers here, so don't forget to check-in to get 10% off your order!

I've been her twice now and both times I've had great food and good service. The first time I ordered the Denver omelet that came with home potatoes, and cornbread, very tasty and good portions. The second time I was hungry so I ordered a large combo meal with eggs, sausage patty, home potatoes, pancakes and OJ. Again the food was great and had enough left over to take home. I'm always looking for good breakfast places to dine at. Guess I found one.

Alan and I had lunch here today after my optometry appointment at Kaiser Vallejo. He found it on Yelp when we wanted to go someplace other than the Sardine Can or the Front Room. By pure luck they have dog friendly tables out front, shaded by large patio umbrellas, so Jordin was able to be w/ us. The busser who was clearing tables brought her a bowl of doggie water. It took the waitress a little while to discover us, so he took our orders for iced tea, checked on us and generally made us feel welcome. Alan got us paper takeout menus to look at. When our waitress did discover us she was charming and helpful. She brought us regular menus and then came back to take our orders. Her name was Remy. Alan ordered Lola & Popa Gamulo's garden omelet as a scramble, w/ breakfast potatoes and corned bread. I ordered the chicken, mango and avocado salad. It arrived sometime later, Remy calling out, "Lunchtime!" as she walked out the front door w/ our plates in hand. I loved it. I also loved the salad, which was so fresh and tasty, w/ a house-made raspberry vinaigrette. There was a variety of lettuces, chopped tomatoes, sliced avocado, cubed mango and a moist and tasty sliced chicken breast warm off the grill. Alan was equally pleased w/ his lunch and the bites I had of the cornbread were tasty and moist. I didn't go inside, so I can't comment on the interior. There was a sign I had never seen before on the front door advising that the building was unreinforced masonry. Good to know in case of an earthquake. You forget we still have them here. This was a great find. I'll be back next time I have reason to be in Vallejo. I mentioned to Remy that I had worked in Vallejo 12 years and hadn't known about it, but that Alan had found it on Yelp. She told me we would get 10% off for mentioning Yelp and took the bill to adjust it. Score! Dog friendly patrons and staff fussed over Jordin. It was all around a good experience.

Today was my first time and I must say it was the best experience. First off our server sat us down and told us about the special. Which was the banana French toast, once she said French toast it was over. Had to order that on the side and shared it. Misty and Cindy are the BOMB waitress and staff. Treated us like we were regulars. Had no idea it was our first time. I recommend Everything. Can't go wrong with the menu. I will be a regular.

Was looking for a spot for brunch that was open on memorial day, this definitely was. Packed house. Had the country fried steak, was on the smaller side but was good with a side of their country potatoes which was really good. Lots of flavor. Scrambled eggs not over cooked which is a plus and had a side of corn bread looked dry but with the honey butter, that made it all better. 10% off your bill when you check in. Our server was nice and didn't give us a hard time about the deal. They even have a bucket if toys for your lil one to pick out of after the meal!

Decent food, very slow service (probably because we came at noon on a Saturday) but the waitresses were super friendly.

Sunday morning Brunch after playing in Napa all day Saturday. In a word, PERFECTION! When we arrived the place was packed. There was a line but it shortened fast. We did wait a little longer then we were told by our hostess but all of that was forgotten once we took that first bite. It was well worth the wait.

  • Chris G.

I have been going here (and their other place before they moved to this current location) for years. Although when I go out, I like to order things I can't/don't make at home. I will say that although it's standard fare, I just like the congeniality of the wait staff (e.g. Rose) as well as the owner (Cyndie) who are all friendly and welcoming folk. You feel as if you're part of their family as they treat you as a friend and not just a customer. Only criticism...and possibly the reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating...their coffee leaves much to be desired. I think they need to install an espresso machine...but other than that, hats off!!!

  • Misty R.

Our Server was great! She was pleasantly knowledgable about the menu and specials! She had an wonderful attitude, and seemed to enjoy her job. Always nice to where the staff is happy to see you even if they don't know you ! The food was pretty good too! It was nice out so we sat outside! Love the sidewalk table for that people watching!!!!

  • Todd M.

This place is great the staff is great. Tori is usually our server, she rocks! Ben the host is great so friendly. Now on to the food. The waffle Combo is a solid meal. Today I tried the pigs in a blanket & potatoes & eggs & biscuits & gravy. Yes that's right. It was so good. At it all. The Mrs. Had the Popeye omelette and said it was great the mushrooms were sautéed in white wine and garlic. All around great breakfast spot!

  • Kelsea R.

The service is always friendly and the food is delicious. I love their fresh baked breads (croissants and corn bread, mmm!). They definitely get busy on the weekends but I've never had to wait to be seated.

  • Katherine C.

I came here for breakfast on a weekday with my friend and the staff was very friendly and accommodating! They look out for you, asking if we wanted more coffee or wanted anything else. The ambiance is also nice, very family friendly. It was nice seeing a group of kids with their mom and grandparents interacting well. Oh and I just got a tuna melt but it was scrumptious! Such a pity we couldn't stay longer but I will for sure be back!

My favorite breakfast place ever! I always try something new and am never disappointed. Everyone is very warm and welcoming. Such a diverse place and rich in culture. I ate here so much when I was Pregnant and now my babies and I go there and they feed themselves!

  • Amanda F.

Love this place! Worth the drive over the bridge! All the staff worked together as a team. Our coffee cups were never empty and we never felt unattended to. My husband laughed because the table got so quiet once our food came! Our first visit but definitely not our last!

  • Daniel R.

All I really want to say is... their Thin & Crispy Pancakes are FREAKING DELICIOUS. You'll never want pancakes another way ever again. The only downsides are that some of the menu items are bit steep in price and, when the place is busy, you're likely to sit not even an arm's length away from the people next to you. But it's one of the few great breakfast/lunch places in Vallejo and the owner is really nice.

    (4)
  • Snarky X.

French toast combo? Thin, store-bought white bread. Wonderbread? Really?!? Soggy. One sausage patty. Just one? Out of links. Restaurants that run out of menu items drive me nuts. Held me hostage for beverage fill-ups. Keeping fluids topped off is BASIC TABLE SERVICE, Rose. Quiet as heck, yet all the servers hang out by the takeout window gossiping as my fluids languish...Then to top it off, held me hostage for the check. So: Sub-par OVERPRICED food, and poor service, even by Rose, the "manager". Not returning.

  • Bryan S.

Nice menu. Pretty good food. Seems popular. Service very good. The place is a little sticky and only has a single bathroom for the whole place. Prices are a little steep for the food and ambiance quality. Portions are not as large as you would expect for the cost, but I didn't leave hungry. Street was closed off for Saturday farmers market which was a plus. Just had to walk in from a block away. Nice to try once but I'd probably try another restaurant before coming back.

The best service in all of Vallejo. The pancakes are the best in town. Even though it's always busy, they still manage to get you your food promptly. Thank you Good Day Cafe.

If you're ever out in Vallejo and you want excellent service and a good breakfast then you need to hit this place up. Rose and the whole crew will treat you like family and the food is really good. My kids love this place and this establishment has set the bar on customer service and great food.

One of Vallejos hidden gems. Probably one of the best breakfast/brunch places that I've ever been too. I've always came here since I was young when it use to be off of Tennessee st. I always get the chris country scramble with the gravy on the side. Something about the gravy, it's hella good. I could put that gravy on anything, it's so goo. Other thing I would reccomend is the Christina's country skillet, really bomb too. And the customer service is always welcoming. Definitely coming here over and over again

  • Kathy D.

We were kind of hesitant to come in at first because honestly from the outside it doesn't look much. When we came in we felt very welcomed and we were seated right away. After a we ordered, our food came in a timely fashion. I cannot say enough how good the food was. My husband and I ordered the corn beef hash, my oldest son ordered the cheese omelet and the peanutty waffle (highly recommended), my daughter ordered the Denver omelet and my youngest son ordered the Belgian waffle. They all taste very good. We will definitely come back!!!

This place is fantastic, so friendly and accommodating. My husband and I came on a Friday morning and found parking easily. The place wasn't crowded and we were seated quickly. I ordered the Lola & Papa veggie omelet with fried rice with a biscuit and a side of gravy. My husband ordered the Chris' Country Scramble. They were both soooo good! I'm so glad we found this place on Yelp.

Very good ! Was on my way home coming from Napa. Found this place on Yelp based on reviews decided to check them out. I'm glad I did. Waitress was super nice. Everybody that worked there was like family. My food was great the dish I ordered was different , I never had anything like it. I Forgot the name But It was a skillet With chicken fried steak pieces and egg on Top . Biscuits and gravy was great as well.

I had the most excellent breakfast and magnificent service here from Remy and Midsi earlier this morning. They should rename it the grate day cafe becuse these lovely ladies gave me the best service I have ever had in any Vallejo restaurant hands down! Amazing!

Little treasure in the heart of downtown. I'm so glad I tried this place. The quirky atmosphere, friendly staff, and good comfort food make for a great place to eat with family and friends. Heads up: if you're hungry for breakfast, the buttermilk pancakes will fill you up! All you need is two...really.

  • Love N.

Look at their overall star review. That's hard for a place that severs food! The food is amazing. My family and I always try and make a plan to go here at least once every two months. The times they are open is strictly mornings, so if you work mornings it's hard. But worth it if you have time. Do not come here if you are in a rush! Even on slow days they take their time. But I love that. No and days we are all, always in a rush it's good to sit back and relax. Saturday's are BEWARE days. It's busy because of the farmers market. And there is a wait, they call out your name and once you miss it..you miss it. But if they tell you, "It's going to be a 25min wait." On the brighter side you can go out and enjoy the farmers market. My daughter loves it though, every time she finishes her food they bring out a bucket of toys. She gets to pick out one she can take home..for FREE! I love it because it makes her want to not leave a single thing of food on her plate, not just there but all the time! The regular weekday workers are great. You're all appreciated!

The front looks like a book store but the inside is very cozy and busy. The waitresses and waiters are extremely friendly and the food is so good. It is our favorite place for breakfast and lunch. The hot chocolate is my favorite and always makes my friends and family smile. Lots of whipped cream, sprinkles and a cherry on top. I love taking my out of town family here and showing off this wonderful little place.

Had the best dish ever! The Christian's Country Skillet. Yummy potatoes, amazing eggs, with chicken fried steak. All topped with the best gravy I have ever had! You must get their biscuits on the side. Yummy fluffy biscuit with a slightly sweet butter spread.

I've been in love with this place. And still falling. Just tried the homemade cheesecake for the first time and I am hooked! I can honestly say that it's better than cheesecake factory's --- hope they make it like this all the time because it's bomb!!!!

My husband, Carlos and I had breakfast here for the first time today. The food and service were amazing! I had the "Serena"which is a crab, cheese, and avocado omelette with fried rice, biscuit and coffee. Carlos had the shrimp, cheese and avocado omelette with potatoes and coffee. Everything was delish! Our waiter, Eric was super friendly and provided remarkable service. Definitely coming back for more and we plan to bring family and friends.

Okay almost went to 4 stars because the hostess gave me a bad impression when she implied I cut ahead of another family because she didn't see me come in ahead of another family, but that's okay, the waitress great attitude and service more then made up for it. FOOD - the fried chicken and waffle AWESOME! It may not be on the menu, but ask for it and you won't regret it. Their fried catfish, bisuits, and corn beef hash equally yummy. Coffee is great! Pretty everything on their menu is a feast for the tummy. This place gets busy and so be prepared to wait a bit, but once they get your order the friendly service and yummy coffee is worth waiting for the scrumptious food. Hidden gem for awesome breakfast/brunch in downtown Vallejo! (near China Wok which is another hidden gem for yummy chinese =) on my next review)

  • Phil J.

We have been here a couple times now the water is unfiltered tap water undrinkable in my opinion. First cup of coffee a little weak but fine the second tasted soapy. The grill on the hash browns was a little heavy. Not sure why this place is so busy.

I cant believe how many good reviews this place has. The food is cheap and nasty. No better than eating at a denny's and i suspect denny's is actually better. Cheap ingredients make your plate feel a bit overpriced. Not much quality to the cooking either. You are better off buying better ingredients from the store with your money and preparing your food yourself. OR going to denny's. BUT the people who work there are pretty laid back and cheery.

The music was ole school 90's r&b- great. Breakfast was good had midc as our server she was awesome, very kind and attentive. Good atmosphere a little pricey but for a treat every now and them I think it was cool.

  • Ev L.

The food is good, and while it is costly, you get a TON of it. The staff is really friendly and helpful and they don't pressure you to leave right after you are done, either. Even when there are people waiting- try to be considerate of others so they can sit and eat too! We uh, need to get a bit better at that. But it's a pleasant place to be and it's easy to want to hang out and enjoy the atmosphere. Oh man, is their cornbread good. So's the croissant, cut in half and crisped up. Actually everything I've had to eat here so far has been quite tasty!

  • Karen S.

Simply the best breakfast spot in downtown Vallejo! They are always friendly & the one lets are delish! They can get crowded on the weekends but are super fast at turning their tables. Oh ...... And the jams coming from the kitchen just make me smile ...... Old school funk, mostly!!

We ordered 2 sandwiches, one coffee and a glass of ice tea. It cost $45. When I pay that much for lunch I expect the food to be outstanding. My grilled crab sandwich was cold. Everything else was mediocre.

Worst corned beef hash Ive ever had (that didn't come from a can). If you think this stuff is good, I fell sorry for your mother. Raw potatoes, greasy and the corned beef was over cooked to death. So much so that it was only little grainy bits meat. I expect chunks about the size of a dime or nickel and these where flecks and specks of meat for the most part about the size of large ants. Sound appetizing? Good because it was not! I really like corned beef hash and have ordered it probably a few hundred times at a few dozen restaurants, this was bad. Im in the area often and saw all the great reviews so I really wanted to like this place so needless to say I was disappointed. Coffee was decent and all the servers I dealt with where very nice and very attentive. Thats the only reason I gave 2 stars instead of one. A lot of good reviews so I might give it another shot and order something else if a friend brings me in but probably won't go again on my own.

Looked this place up on yelp last night and was excited to give it a try this morning. I'm not a breakfast kind of person, I could eat pizza for breakfast but after seeing the Christina's scrambler pictures on yelp I knew I wanted to give it a try because i love chicken fried steak :) and it was delicious! The restaurant was mostly clean service was good. The seating is just really close together I can hear everyone's conversation. If I ever am in a breakfast mood I will come here.

I love this place! I love the two ladies running it. Garlic fries are to die for. The only place in Vallejo where I know it's good! The chicken and waffles are my favorite. Nice atmosphere and a must stop if your in downtown or leaving the Saturday farmers market! A must try. And the prices are decent!

Updating my previous reviews, I suppose, in retrospect, that I didn't give the GDC a just review for its food. It's not "just OK" or "Ok", it's really quite good. I have been there now several more times since my first review in December, and I must confess the food is broadly better than "OK". So I have to kick it up a notch. I guess my problem was trying to be really "objective" to the point I downplayed my enthusiasm for the food.

Took my co-workers here for their first time, two of them ordered the soup of the day - it was luke warm for one, ice cold for the other. It had to be sent back twice before it was actually hot. I had toast with my order, it had been toasted but was also cold as the butter was not even melted. The other in our party had the Salisbury steak - cold in the center. Sad because this is the first time I've had an issue with an order here. I hope to bump my next review up to five stars after my next visit. I had to leave GDC a three star but as all four of us had problems with our order. Other than that, the service was prompt. I'll be back.

One of the gems in Vallejo. Great service , good amount of servings and the food is Great! Came in after shopping the Farmers Market. It only took them 5 mins to sit us. Immediately the friendly staff offered drinks.. Good strong , fair trade, organic coffee.. Nice way to start a meal. Fast service and everyone is casual.. Servers were not pretentious.. They actually like their jobs.. I ordered their special Nutella pancakes.. Yum.. Specially if you're a hazelnut lover... Their pancakes are fluffy and just the right thickness.. I don't eat meat.. But my boyfriend enjoyed the crispy think bacon that came with it.. He had their pancakes with sausage and egg . Great portion.. Took some leftover home.. Can't wait for the next time I come back..

The people who work here are some of the happiest I have ever encountered. The food is pricey for Vallejo, but there aren't many options and the food and atmosphere is worth it. It's our go-to breakfast place on Saturday mornings before we hit up the farmers market. And their coffee is excellent - not what you'd expect.

We stopped by the downtown Vallejo location for a quick lunch for the first time after working up a huge appetite walking 3 miles on Mare Island and were pleasantly surprised. The place was packed, but we were greeted immediately & promptly seated & our order was taken right away. The walls are lined with beautifully framed works from local photographers, the place is clean & the atmosphere is upbeat & fun. I've been a vegetarian for 24 years now & was a cook 50 years ago, so I enjoy good food. You'll find that here, just like we did. My wife loved her meal as much as I loved mine. We'll be going back soon.

What can you say about this cafe? if you're looking for old school, southern cooking this is the place you come to. its not foo-foo food like an Oakland, San Francisco and Berkeley. this is real real food!! My husband had the chicken and waffles with eggs and I had the crab omelette; its real crab. the coffee, the employees even the customers ARE REAL!! WE will come back again. The people here are real people, working class people NOT and not elitists. if I can have across the bridge this is a good place to be.

We were really looking forward to trying this place. After waiting for more than 15 mins, we asked for our server, the guy at the front tried to get us someone but they walked away and said not my table. A girl finally came over and refused to take our order, she was just going to get drinks. Terrible! We ended up just leaving.

We traveled here from Ohio and found the Good Day Cafe on Yelp. The staff greeted us like we were family. They were incredibly gracious. I ordered the Lola and Papa and added spinach and avocado. It might just be the best omelette I have had in my life. You should come here. Mama''nem

It is a bit pricey but their belgian waffle was good and the servers are really nice. Also, if you're one of those people that ask them to sing happy birthday they'll do it with a small slice of cake.

It's a breakfast diner and the food is breakfast diner food that meets all the expectations. The thing that sets this place apart is the staff and the connection to the community. Clearly the wait staff has been doing this for a while so they are very attentive. Above and beyond that, they know the names of the regulars. Some patrons came in and the host greeted them by their first names.

The Good Day Cafe is the diner by which all others in the region should be judged. The food, atmosphere and service are top-notch for diner eats. I've been eating here for a couple years and have never once had a disappointing experience. my personal recommendations are the Princess Afrika Salad, the Tori's Turkey Sandwich, and the corned beef hash.

This was a secret gem to me. GREAT service. Very clean. The food is off the hook!! Prices are great. I have not a one complaint! When I first moved to Vallejo everyone raved about joy of eating.... Obviously they've never eaten here. Best in Vallejo!

I chose this restaurant based on it's previous yelp reviews, and I was NOT disappointed! I brought my girlfriend here for her birthday brunch while we were in Vallejo (Discovery Kingdom - see separate review), and were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Good Day Cafe at noon on Saturday. They were busy enough to know people like the place, but not so much so that we had to wait terribly long. The coffee was hot and tasty, the staff was responsive and fast, and most importantly, the food was fantastic. My girlfriend got the special of the day - Fried Chicken & Waffles - and she loved it! I got the French Toast with Sausage Links and Hash-browns. The Sausage Links were sooo good - definitely home-made and spicy - yum!! And they cooked the Hash-browns EXACTLY as I ordered them - XXX Crunchy! I highly recommend this place if you're ever in the area - the food is worth it!!

We don't live in Vallejo but our family does, and Good Day is a must stop every time we visit. Food is good, prices are fair and the service is always super friendly. The owner Cindy always says hello when she's there and a couple of the waitresses remember my parents every time they come in. You can't beat that. We mostly eat breakfast here and it's always tasty. Love the waitresses Rose and Tori. A great place!

Very friendly service from a cafe that seemed to promise good food, but we were unfortunately underwhelmed by the food itself. The tuna melt was way too heavy on the mayo. The French dip au jus was a bit on the small side and a little light on the meat, and the meat itself was a bit under seasoned on a plain white over sweet roll. At least both side salads were fresh, tasty, and with the dressing on the side. Big glasses of fresh orange juice also helped, but this place must specialize more on the breakfast entrees, because the lunch items were mediocre at best. We wonder if we are spoiled by the great food we get in the Bay Area, or if the people in Vallejo just aren't that picky about their food and go for portion size over quality.

I never this place existed until my boyfriend brought me for breakfast and now I can't get enough. The French toast is delicious. Good Day cafe is such a good family restaurant. On weekends this place can get busy but there is always room.

Always good food. Always good service. What else is there? The Good Day Cafe is consistantly a rock solid place for a good breakfast. It is by far the best breakfast in town. Everything that I have had has been excellent. My favorite is the Popeye omlet.

Tried this place once on a whim a few years back with my dad after moving to Vallejo. The food was good enough the service even better. One day, maybe during the farmers market on Saturdays, I'll be back. But not in a particular rush.

This place is great! Charming downtown location, small front patio in front of the historic building it occupies. We were seated immediateply on a busy Sunday Farmers Market Day. Good day to go as you can walk to market and burn off a little breakfast! I had the corned beef hash (as I judge all new breakfastb places on this) It was one of the best corned beef and hash I have ever had! Made fresh not from a can with bell peppers and onions! Delicious! My husband said their biscuits and gravy were 'light" fresh and so delicious. The servers are extremely cheerful and friendly! Tori was our server and she was sooo nice! Definitely going back!

They have limited vegetarian and zero vegan options, and basically nothing can be modified to be vegan. In 2013 that's just not acceptable. They don't even have a vegan salad, or a non-dairy creamer option (not just no soy milk but not even the toxic waste cheapo never expiring kind?). They have a portobello sandwich on the menu but don't actually offer it. And their regular menu items are generally way way overpriced as well. Not only does this mean I don't/can't eat here - but my entire family as well. It's just bad business to have a menu that's hostile to vegans.

Came back on a busy Saturday and the place ran like a swiss watch. Kudo's to the employers for having several wait staff on hand, a practice not employed often any more. The place looked filled with several happy customers and the special was Whole fried trout and eggs. Wow! I didn't get that, I got hamburger steak and eggs. My hamburger patty was hand formed and cooked to order, and my son's bacon waffle was delectable. Other restraunts could learn a thing or two from the top notch waitstaff. This place is not a family favorite. i would come back here once I move away just to come to this restraunt.

This is the kind of place that you wish you were a regular at. From the moment we stepped in, Cindy made sure that we were taken care of. More than just the service though, I had one of those rare moments were you're not just comfortable but you feel like you're around family. That's the kind of service that you can't be taught! Did I mention they offer a Bacon Waffle? Oh yes, and it's every bit as chock full of bacony goodness as the name implies. Between that and the Corned Beef Hash you would've thought that I was eating to cure a hangover (I wasn't). After trying the rest of the breakfast joints in the area, I must say that if you HAVE to get up and going early on the weekend, there's no other place in Vallejo to do it.

This is my favorite local breakfast joint! I especially love the service and the food is always excellent. It is very home town friendly. Anything I order there is super good and the portion sizes are just right. The owner Cindy is super sweet and prides herself on excellent customer experience and quality. This place is a real winner!

I had breakfast with a friend today. We were greeted by a very friendly staff. Everyone here is so nice. We both ordered the biscuits and gravy. It was alot of food, we both thought, so next time we might not order it with the side of potatoes and suasage. Anyhow, it was extremely good! Again, I'm picky about my buscuits and gravy. Well, let me be honest. I'm picky about everything! Everything was homemade, delicious and eaten quickly! The gravy was full of flavor and unlike others, light weight. The buscuits were excellent too. Light fluffy and not dry. All in all, perfect! I had a good ol cup of coffee to go with. At the end, I felt full but not stuffed. Thats what I meant by light weight. I dont particulary like it when I eat a helping of biscuits and gravy and I feel like I need to be air lifted. Thank you Good Day Cafe!! Extremely recommended!

Had Tori Lynn's turkey sandwich for lunch. I was delicious but at $9.50, was a little pricey for a lunch. I had the green salad on the side, which was disappointing. It was not much more than iceberg lettuce, which is not of any nutritional value. So much for being healthy. I might as well have had the fries. The sauce they give with fries is awesome. Next time I will get the fries.

Best breakfast I've been to. Amazing wait staff who are always friendly and they have some of the best drip coffee I've had at a breakfast place. Try the corn beef hash!

We love this place! The people that work here actually seem to enjoy their jobs and are super friendly which is really refreshing. I've tried quite a few things on the menu but the Serena omelet is by far my favorite! Crab and avocado! You can't lose there! This place is also great for kids. They get a lot of different crayon colors not just 3 or 4. They also have some toys for kids to grab and bring over to whatever table you're at so they're entertained. Great breakfast spot in the north bay!

Pricier than most of the standard breakfast fare that I'm used to going to but the service was lovely and the food was excellent and portions were pretty good. Perhaps too high for my taste but I have to say one of the better diner joints here in Vallejo. Probably might stop by again if I'm in the neighborhood if I'm looking for decent breakfast grub

Our first time at the Good Day Cafe - we spotted a crowd waiting at noon Sunday and decided to check it out. We're new to Vallejo and asked some of the folks outside if the food was good. They all thought it was great. The place looks smaller than it is. Sunday brunch was packed, but the turnover was constant and we only waited about 10 minutes for a table for 4. The food was pretty traditional breakfast / brunch / lunch. A little higher prices than typical of Vallejo, but portions were huge. Everything we had was excellent. Not the kind of food you rave about. But a place we'll probably come back to over and over again. The staff was working hard and completely pleasant.

We were here for breakfast June 26 2012. Variety in menu will satisfy most people that would come here. The ambiance is contemporary. The food that we ordered are mostly breakfast like, the French Toast, The Good Day Omelette and sausages were made like you are in your Grandma's kitchen. Roxanne, our server, treated us like we were the only customer she has. We enjoyed it here.

OMG. Seriously. No... Seriously. The food here is amazing and the staff should be teaching customer service classes. Try the sweet potato fries with dipping sauce! I hugged the owner as I was leaving. That's how great it was.

Let me start off by saying that the Good Day Cafe has the friendliest staff ever!!! From the moment I was greeted at the door to the moment the hostess kindly opened the door for me on my way out, the staff was amazing. I was in Vallejo to visit my grandma, along with my mom and my two little guys. I'm not familiar with Vallejo at all so I let Yelp be my guide. You all did not steer me wrong! I ordered the Good Day Burger (jack cheese, mushrooms, pepperoncinis and olives) and it was super yummy. The foccacia bun was a nice touch. Along with my burger came sweet potato fries and they were also tasty. My mom and grandma split the Patty Melt which they enjoyed. Even though I shared my meal with my toddler, the waitress brought him his own fries and oranges. The staff was so kind to my guy, and they even had plenty of toys for him to play with! Next time I'm in Vallejo, I'd love to stop by here for breakfast.

This is a long overdue review. We happened on this restaurant by chance. Lucky us! We sat at the table by the front window, we were seated immediately. They obviously have a good following. The service was great. The coffee was very good. Our breakfast was surprisingly delish! I would definitely go back! AND recommend it to my friends.

It pains me to give a lackluster rating, but I MUST say first and foremost that their SERVICE IS GREAT. But honestly, I wouldn't go back unless encouraged. We ordered the corn beef hash breakfast. Lemme just say I tend to always order this dish wherever I go, and this was one of the not-so-good versions of hash I've ever had. It was super salty, and just didn't taste right. Also, the "fried rice" we got was more like rice pilaf. Again, TOO salty. I was just so disappointed because I read all the great reviews. Again, the service was first rate. They were SO FRIENDLY. I'm apprehensive to return to this restaurant, but I'm open to trying it again and change my rating. I just won't order the cornbeef. :)

Exceptional service is what I must include here as you are welcomed when you first walk in here. However, the food is something else. I can't like it or not like it. Customer service was by far great and I was sitting down the morning after a long night at work munching away on an omelette that had "Everything but the kitchen sink" with the hash potatoes, extra crisp alongside with the biscuit and honey butter. Very filling, but needed a bit more flavor and heat for me. That's what the salsa and sauces were there for. Sounding like a broken record, what makes it or breaks it is the service of these many establishments. For a place like this and being in Vallejo and its dire state of financial turmoil its good to know this place is holding strong with the community and brings many back time and time again. I'll definitely come back on a more "awaken" note. After all, I did work a night shift.

While Hunny Bunnie is away, me and my friends decided to play... at the farmers market. Miss T needed some fresh ingredients for her salsa, so I picked up what she needed. We decided to stop at the Good Day Cafe. I've heard the buzz about them for years and decided to give it a try. First impression - Our hostess greeted us promplty when we arrived (around 10:15 on Saturday a.m.). It looked like 50% of the restaurant was occupied. Once we settled on a table we liked, our hostess went over the specials - An enchilada omlette filled with ground beef, smothered in enchilada sauce with cheese or the meatloaf with eggs. My friend chose the Good Day Omlette with Hasbrowns and a biscuit, and I chose the Linguica with eggs and fried rice. The eggs were perfect and the linguica was cooked just right, however that really isn't rocket science. I must admit to being disappointed at the fried rice. It was very dry and the bacon just seemed old. However, across the table the Omlette disappeared in a flash and she said that the butter for the biscuits was heavenly! That's a real compliment. I really loved the warm atmosphere. Everyone was so friendly and they must have tried to refill my coffee about 5 times in the 45 minutes we were there. I'm going to come back because the hashbrowns looked really good. I think breakfast for 2 was about $25 (I didn't get to see the check).

Wow, just wow! My first visit and was blown away by the food, customer service and setting (nice and clean). As for customer service, waiter was efficient and kept us updated on our food status. In addition, the manager constantly walked around to check on everyone in the restaurant and even came by our table several times to check on us and made sure everything was well. I am a very satisfied customer :) I still have yet to try more of the items on the breakfast menu as well as the lunch menu. I'm looking forward to more visits at this fantastic restaurant.

This is, hands down, the best place for brekkie in Vallejo! My husband and I always go here when we are in the mood for someone else to cook on a lazy Sunday morning. I have never been disappointed. The menu selection, the service and anything we have ever ordered are excellent! He has ordered everything from pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, a cheeseburger, and country fried steak - it has all been delicious (I know because I sampled.) I have ordered omelettes, a french dip sandwich, sweet potato fries, and a crab sandwich, and again - all delicious! I like that this is in downtown Vallejo which has its own charm. On Saturday mornings the farmer's market is also going on down there. On a nice morning there are outside tables available, which are worth the wait!

Good food, fast service and friendly staff. My only complaint is they need to work on their coffee. They have great breakfast food, but a nice strong cup of coffee with it would make this place even better. I also like the cute inspirational coffee cups.

You probably read my friend's Veronica R.'s review and I have to agree this is one of the best diners in Vallejo. The place felt very homey and despite coming in for brunch on Mother's day, we were seated very quickly. What really impressed me is that they always kept my cup of coffee full! Great job guys! The service was very casual but also very efficient. It really felt like a local diner where everybody knows your name... I mean I don't go there enough where they really know my name but you get the picture. As far as the food, it was excellent. Everything tasted like it was homemade, which is perfect for a place like this.

I have been to this place twice. I think this is the only place actually having customers in downtown Vallejo. Aesthetics are pretty much like any other cafe. Their staff us very nice and friendly. they really make you feel welcomed. I has their veggie burger and the extra crispy fries with their special salsa. Burger was food and nice thing was that I could Taste flavors of the ingredients used to prepare the plate. Their biscuits are really good. Price wise it's not expensive. So I you happen to drive by downtown Vallejo and have a craving for a relaxing breakfast or brunch try this place. Hope our views will match :) Aesthetics **** service ***** food ****

This is some really good food and a great atmosphere. I visited my friend in Vallejo and we came here for a brunch. We both ordered omelets - the Jessica and the Popeye. Both were really delicious and fresh. The ingredients were plentiful and te hot sauce on the side was awesome! This is one of the best diners I've been to. The only reason it's a 4 and not 5 star is that the hash browns and even the veggies could have been seasoned a little more. Some black pepper or garlic salt would have been great with the hash browns. We would definitely go here again! Even better- on Saturday mornings there is a farmer's market right outside!

I enjoyed the belgian waffle topped with strawberries, $10.50. I don't think they use fresh strawberries because it came with that strawberry juice...if you know what I mean. But, the strawberries were a good size and were still good. But, that juice can make your waffle soggy... I would get this again but my friend said I can get a belgian waffle just as good some place else and a bit cheaper... Also tried Christina's Country Skillet... Not a hit. For the price, $13 it barely came with meat... It was mostly potatoes topped with egg, gravy, and some shredded cheese. The meat bits were small and barely noticeable. This meal is also heavy feeling and I would not recommend. The first few bites were good but then the gravy taste and everything just felt like too much.

A review update is in order. While my first experience here at Good Day Cafe was just ok, my wife insisted we come back for breakfast yesterday morning. Knowing better than to contradict a woman in her third trimester, I was happy to oblige if I knew what was good for me. Well, let me tell you that breakfast this time around was a wonderful experience. I was nursing a bit of a hangover (I've been abusing the privilege of having a dedicated driver lately... Shame on me!) so I decided to go with the country breakfast which comes with 2 biscuits and gravy, 2 eggs, and sausage or bacon. I opted for the sausage patty and the eggs scrambled wet. Our server was so friendly that she happily had my eggs remade when she saw that the ones she initially brought me were too dry. The beauty of it? I didn't even have to ask! My wife had the French Toast and she greatly enjoyed them. I think perhaps they've gotten over the initial growing pains of moving into this location. Regardless, I was very happy with my breakfast and would most certainly come back in a heartbeat!

Overall (8.5/10) Food (9/10) Service (10/10) Location (7/10) - Downtown Vallejo, not really a destination spot Price (7/10) - Some items are a lil too pricey for what you get. If you are in the area (idk why, maybe to visit touro?), this place is my choice for breakfast or lunch. Service here is always friendly, and sometimes the reason people come here. Breakfast, you can't really go wrong with anything. I do like the thinner pancakes better than the thicker ones. Biscuits and gravy as well, can not miss. For lunch... crab sandwich or tuna melt. Last time I had the shrimp salad sandwich, and it was just okay. It could have used more seasoning... but the sweet potato fries were on the money! RECENTLY - the mention yelp get 10% off thing did work, even on the special. Would I come back? YES, if only I was there in the morning, I would come more often.

I love this place and so do my kids. They always get the Mickey Mouse Pancakes and my choice varies. I have a great desire to try everything on the menu. Almost all the items I've chosen have been on point. Compared with Joy of Eatings crab sandwich I have to say this one is lackluster. Aside from that everything is great. Warm open feel to the cafe and they let my kids pick out a "prize" from their goodie box. And they're good choices too!

I have never spent extended periods of time in Vallejo, so when I realized we were going to spend the day antiquing on Georgia street, I had to do a little research on Yelp. Yelpers, you did not let me down! Good Day Cafe was exactly what we were looking for. Delicious breakfast, warm atmosphere and comfortable seating make Good Day Cafe a great breakfast, brunch or lunch place. Get the Biscuits Breakfast. Spicy gravy, perfect sausage patties and flavorful country potatoes! YUM!

Good Day Cafe is one of my favorite breakfast joints in Vallejo. It's one of the few reasons I'm glad I've moved back. I love their new location and that it forces me to patronize our downtown area. It's a place full of joy and happiness - for real, they have mugs that even shout it out loud! The service is awesome- I might go as far as to say that I actually think their service might be BETTER than the food-and a reason in itself to visit repeated times. The food is delicious (don't get me wrong). I can only speak on their breakfast offerings. The country fried steak, the REAL corned beef hash, the pancakes, the serena (real crab omelette), the country breakfast of biscuits and gravy and all the usual breakfast offerings are all done really well. They even have a homemade salsa - yummy. Visit - you won't regret it!

  • Christine M.

My favorite breakfast place hands down! I've been eating at Good Day for years (even before they moved to their new Georgia St location). The staff knows my family as well as all of their other regulars and there is always an inviting and friendly atmosphere here. When you stop by the Farmer's Market on Saturdays, be sure to stop by Good Day as it's right there on the same street. You can even sit outside and enjoy the weather on nice days. The food is amazing and comes in generous portions for a good price. You have to try their country potatoes. I'd try to explain why but it would never do them justice... but thinking about it makes my mouth water. They have a bottle of my favorite hot sauce (Pepper Plant , thepepperplant.com ) on every table so if you've never tried it before, please do so. You're welcome. :o)

The best breakfast place around the Napa, Vallejo area. It has that small, hometown feel. The staff is always friendly and prompt. Their omelettes are always made with fresh ingredients, and the crispy pancakes are to die for!! Oh...and always get the home made salsa with your eggs! So good!

It was just OK. I had hight expectations I guess. We stopped by here on our way to Berkeley cause I was famished and I saw this place got great reviews on Yelp. I had the Chris Country Scramble ( I think that's what it was called). It was too much gravy. I know what you're thinking...I should have known it would be smothered in gravy. I actually tried to order the pork chop and eggs but they ran out. My man friend scarfed down his french toast but he didnt say it was anything special. He was probably just hungry.

HUMMM!!! My wife and I have the day off together and my two boys are in school. What should we do? Oh yeah, we Yelped and went out to brunch at Good Day Café in Vallejo. What I forgot to mention is we also have a two years-old daughter that spends every minute with us whenever we're not working. So yes this would be an X-rated, I mean a different story if my daughter wasn't around. Man, I can't wait till she's goes to school and start learning her ABCs. Any hoo! Good Day Café is located in this ghost town area in Vallejo, in Georgia Ave. This area is so deserted on a weekday morning you can park directly in front of the restaurant with no problem. As we got in and sat down I remember that they had a special 10% discount if you mention Yelp to them. So I did and they said "sure thing, Yelp works every time." Thank you Yelp. So my wife orders French toast and Scrambled eggs and I order the Linguisa with poached eggs and rice. In fact I didn't even order from the menu, I just showed her picture number 8 on Yelp. Thanks again Yelp, you make the world so easy. The food was average, nothing really special that will make me dream about Linguisas at night (cause that would be weird). What is very special about the place is how friendly the service was. They were very attentive to the customers, constantly checking up on you to make sure you are doing okay. Everyone has a friendly smile and they absolutely make you feel at home. I recommend this place if you're looking for a place to just chill out, have a nice home cook meal, and enjoy some friendly company. Three stars for the Good Day Café staff.

  • Michael B.

Not impressed with this place at all. I can't believe these 5 star reviewers ate at the same place I did! The food is mediocre at best, and the service has a lot to be desired. Friendly yes, good servers, no. They are not attentive and the eggs were cold upon arrival. Nothing special about this place other than it's one of the only places to grab a bit to eat in downtown Vallejo. However, it's worth it to drive elsewhere. Obviously the Good Day Cafe was NOT having a good day when I was there. It happens, but I won't be back.

This is Kadin's favorite place to eat for breakfast. We have been coming here a while and the food is excellent. We have never had a bad experience and dont plan on it. My husband said their french toast is the BEST he has ever had. For kids, if they eat their whole meal they get a prize that they get to choose from out of a bin. Everytime we eat here, we run into someone we know. Great customer serevice, friendly staff and the owner greets everyone and takes good care of her customers. We love eating at Good Day Cafe, thanks for a great Mother's Day breakfast.

Wow - the best breakfast I've had in a long time. I just moved to Vallejo (having lived most recently in Oakland and San Francisco for 2 and 9 years, respectively) and am totally falling for my new city. My man and I had a late Sunday breakfast (they serve breakfast until 3:00). I am a sucker for corned beef hash, and I swear this is the best I've ever had, hands down. They mix chopped green pepper, onion, and some other tasty ingredients in with the corned beef. Nicely seasoned too! The eggs and hash browns that came on the side were perfect - those hash browns had a flavorful crispiness and my eggs were nice and fluffy. The biscuits were homemade and came with honey butter. They have great coffee, too! Our server, Rose, was so sweet. Her service was professional and efficient. Our hostess was very nice when we came in, and another member of their serving staff thanked us on our way out. The ambiance at Good Day Cafe is nice and casual. A good local spot in a city I am proud to call home. I'll see you all next Sunday!

Though I've lived in the bay area much of my life, I had never really visited Vallejo. And by that I don't mean just driving through but "stopping by" and "walking" a bit of the town. Today I decided to pay such a visit. I found this restaurant through Yelp here which has good reviews, so I made it part of the visit besides also checking out the Saturday Farmer's Market and the museum. We (the two of us) ordered crab sandwich with sweet potato fries, and a biscuit and gravy with sausage patty and eggs. Both ordered were fresh, sumptuous and delicious. The waitress was friendly, helpful, and efficient. If I have to find anything negative about this place, it is the bathroom situation. For a restaurant of this size, it needs to have more than only one single toilet, unisex bathroom. It is totally inadequate and pretty much everyone has to wait for his/her turn. Otherwise, I can't say anything bad about this place really. Overall I am in agreement with all the good reviews and think it deserves all the praises.

I usually end up here on the weekend. Even though they are busy I don't think I have ever had to wait for a table. The food is good but I can only really say that for the breakfast items (I have never ordered lunch there). The coffee and service gets the job done as well. My only complaint (and it is only because I am a fatty pants) is the last time I went there our server neglected to tell us the specials. After I was knee deep in my breakfast I overheard another server telling another table of the STEAK AND EGGS special. I SO would have ordered that- major frowny face! Overall I would highly recommend!

Cute place!!! Went with a girlfriend to have breakfast and catch up like old times. She had the peanut butter waffle and of course i love my eggs and bacon. I know, i'm so boring, but i did get to try her breakfast...and i fell in love... Went the second time with a different friend and I had the peanut butter waffle and i still loved it. It's nothing special, but i love peanut butter. What ddi i have on the side? bacon, extra crispy. Who doesn't love bacon? Anyway, cute place, good food, good company.

My husband's crab sandwich was good but very expensive at $16.25. My eggs and hot links were cold. My eggs were also runny. I sent them back and they just microwaved them and the eggs came back hard. Once again I had to send them back to have them totally remade. They came back again with the whites runny. Had to send them back again. I had hot tea and they never refilled my hot water. After all of this they still charged me $10.95 for my breakfast. This place is too expensive for Vallejo. GO TO BLACK BEAR DINER instead!

We just moved to American Canyon recently. One morning I wanted to take my 'twin teenage boys" and my husband to breakfast. It's hard taking the boys out, their and our (my husband and mine) tastes are very different. We like lighter fare while our boys like bacon on everything. So I found this cafe on yelp and we went. I must say we were all pleasantly surprised, okay they don't actually have much 'light' fare but you can pick and choose and get what you want. My boys of course were in heaven with the biscuits and gravy that came with bacon. We all really loved the breakfast and I would like to try out their lunch too. We hope to be regulars here. Oh yeah the service was great!

Good day, Good Day Cafe. When I worked in Vallejo, this was my go-to lunch spot, where I always got breakfast. I was never disappointed by the breakfast menu, everything from the chicken fried steak to the french toast to the omelettes are pretty solid. The service is amazing. Very friendly and they make an effort to get to know their regulars with I like. If y'all want to move down to Redlands, you'll have at least 1 customer! :)

Roxanne greeted us as we entered the cafe and right off the bat we had an extremely enjoyable experience. The food was excellent as always but the incredible service is what will keep us coming back for more!

Went there for lunch today @1:30. We had a cheese burger/fries and a Tori Special turkey sandwich/fries, the fries are frozen then fried, turkey was processed. The bill was $30 and we drank iced tea. The condiment bottles were dirty and the Green Tabasco bottle was expired. Maybe Chef Robert Ervine should go in and teach them how to use fresh products, not frozen or processed. The MOD was having his lunch and disciplining a waitress @ tipping out on the floor, not good for customers to hear this.

I used to frequent this spot back when it was Georgia Street Grille and was upset when I heard they were closing. However, I'm thrilled that they re-opened as Good Day Cafe and that they still kept the Pork chops & Eggs dish. I hate to admit, but the islander rice is much more better this time around and not as dry (even though I still loved it back then) as they used to be. Customer service is excellent. Coffee cups never stay empty for long. I also love that they are all very kid-friendly. They're always asking if my kids were doing okay and always offered something to make them more comfortable (slices of bananas, stickers, more crayons & paper). They even have an area where the kids can just get down and play with toys. At our recent visit, I met up with friends who all had little girls at the table. They all had pony or princess coloring sheets, princess stickers, etc. My son was coloring and the waitress (not even our waitress) noticed that he was coloring on a half-colored pony sheet so she went out of here way to grab a few dinosaur sheets for him. He was thrilled (he loves dinosaurs). I definitely recommend eating here for breakfast with the kiddies

Once again, on a blustery January morning, went down to Good Day Cafe with my favorite brother to share a late breakfast. They came through with flying colors; the service was excellent, the food was marvelous and I can't say enough about the ambiance. Cindy and and her crew always make it a good day in Vallejo. It is also worth a trip to look at the antique clock out on the sidewalk; "The Alibi Clock" with quite a history. Thanks!

I'm not a big breakfast eater, but this is my go-to breakfast spot if I am eating and not traveling out of town. They've got a lot of great options on the menu, some of which are VERY creative. This is a great spot to go to in tandem with going to the Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings. If you eat too much, you can have a nice walk on the waterfront, which is a few blocks away!

  • Ed G.

It's one of the best breakfast spots in Vallejo, hands down. They offer all of the standard b-fast meals, but it's the little details that really put this restaurant above the others. My GF loves their homemade biscuits - they come with honey butter - and the mushrooms they use in their scrambles are sauteed in white wine and garlic! Good portions, and the service is always friendly. Expect a wait, though, since it is a premeire breakfast spot. It's not a large restaurant either, but last time I was there I came with 11 people, and they accomodated all of us with smiles.

This has been one of my favorite greasy spoons for quite sometime. But they had an unfortunate fire that burned their old location in 2007. A couple of weekends ago was the first time that I came to Good Day Cafe since they have reopened on Georgia Street. The service was awesome and friendly as always. The food is still legit and is your standard breakfast fare, but done very well. If you are in the area for breakfast or lunch, this place is a definite stop.

What a GREAT breakfast! I had a banana-bread French toast here that was awesome this morning. Seriously, this was amazing French toast, came with eggs and bacon (cooked perfectly to order), and it was really pretty cheap. The coffee was good, food portions substantial, and the service was attentive (not too much, not too little) and extremely nice. You're going to leave Good Day Cafe with a full belly and a smile on your face because the staff was so freaking positive it was contagious. They've got these motivational quotes on their coffee mugs, and everyone there seems to be living by them. Great food and people, and the perfect way to start a day. Oh, and a good place if you're bringing the kids as there's a toy area for them to play.

The first time we came to this cafe, we had a rather pleasant experience. In fact, everyone was so helpful, they kind of stepped on each other's toes to help us. The food was decent and I was pleased enough to come back. BIG MISTAKE. The second visit started off ok. We were seated promptly and greeted soon after. They got us our drinks, gave us recommendations for different entrees and were pleasant enough. Little did we know that the recommendations were for items that needed to be gotten rid of. My fiance had ham and eggs, in which the eggs were undercooked, and ham overcooked. The manager, Rosie I believe is her name, had recommended to him the corn bread for a side, and the corn bread was absolutely nasty- it was old, dried out, cold, and burnt. Very disappointing. I asked about the chicken and waffles and was told that it was a popular dish and "very good". The chicken was decent but nothing to write home about, but the waffle was horrid! This supposedly fresh baked waffle, tasted worse than any frozen waffle I've ever had. I complained to the manager, who only came over after we had called another server over because we couldn't even get her attention during the meal. I didn't eat the waffle and told her it tasted horrible and to just charge for the chicken. She took five dollars off for the waffle and basically charged ten something for three SMALL pieces of chicken. She didn't bother to apologize or even try to convince us to come back. So we will NEVER go there again. Very disappointing and disturbed at the lack of service from the manager.

I would definitely come back here when I visit family in Vallejo, CA. This is such a better alternative than going to any of the chain restaurants for brunch after mass. Not only will you eat locally and support your local business but the food and service is significantly better. The Hot & Spicy with Guamian fried rice was excellent. And the coffee kept on coming without my asking throughout the meal. It was a great day at Good Day Cafe.

Found this place on yelp a couple days ago while looking for somewhere to get a good breakfast near my house, and this is definitely my new favorite breakfast place. The waitresses were super sweet and the whole place was really comfortable and homey... also.... the country potatoes, I dont know what they did but those country potatoes were seriously the tastiest I've ever had. reasonably priced too especially with the yelp discount. I dont remember our waitress' name but she was incredibly fast at bringing us everything we asked her for and was really friendly and genuine, she made us feel really comfortable from the moment we sat down. I wish I could start every one of my mornings eating at this place!

If you want to start your day in a good mood, go here! This little place started off at another location in Vallejo and burned down. They have reopened on Georgia Street and they are better than ever. Starting with coffee, each cup has a positive affirmation on it which starts the experience in a good direction. I think this is the friendliest place ever. Oh, yeah and the food is amazing. They serve all the things you would expect for breakfast but offer things like catfish, rice and homemade salsa just to name a few . I love going here and if I can get the seat in the window it's even better.

Yelp scores again! After a very mediocre breakfast in Vallejo the day before, I turned to Yelp for suggestions and Good Day Cafe delivered! Great food, and even better service. Even though I was a tourist, I would bet money this is THE place to go for breakfast in Vallejo!

I came in for a late lunch and my review doesn't apply to breakfast, which looks great and which they seem to serve until late. I had the Princess Afrika chicken salad, which was okay, but really expensive. It would be $3-4 cheaper at another restaurant. The side of garlic bread had good flavor but the bread wasn't that fresh. The people next to me had fried chicken (the special of they day, which looked good but came with a plain store-bought dinner roll and what looked like canned corn) and breakfast, which looked great. I'd say "if you're looking for a good breakfast, especially after 11am when other places stop serving it, go here for sure...but probably skip the lunch". The raved about breakfast customer service was okay, but nothing over the top at lunch.

  • Brenda J.

This is a family friendly, casual dining place. Good food, Service with a smile and a great value for the money. Don't order those "hungry man" meals they serve unless you are STARVING....so much food!! The only negative is that on a weekend you've got to search for parking. Best breakfast place, I've eaten in Vallejo. I've never been there when it wasn't crowded but I've never found the waits to be longer than 10 minutes. Tables are close, so be prepared to meet the diners next to you or to have your conversations overheard.

  • Monique M.

Delicious breakfast, cozy atmosphere and great customer service. Can't beat that for a spot in Vallejo. ;) Cindy the owner takes her time to walk around and say hi to the customers. It's always nice to see the owner take time to do that as well as serve the customers. Awesome!

    (4)
  • Tom B.

If this review was only for Cindy, the owner and seemingly head waitress, I would give five stars...she's extremely friendly, helpful, and has created almost a club atmosphere for repeat customers, most of whom she seems to know by name. But a restaurant lives by its food, and there this place slips a bit...the coffee is like hot brown colored water, there is no fresh milk for your java (just those little no refrigeration needed half n half thingees), and while the red country potatoes were great, my omelette was purty darn greasy and gave me an upset stomach....and this is coming from someone who is far more gourmand than gourmet. The place is nicely decorated, and very congenial for kids, but I hesitatingly have to agree with another reviewer that Joy of Eating, which is a dirty dump, has a better breakfast.

This has to be one of the better places to eat in Vallejo (and neighboring cities I might add). They serve breakfast at all times. Their pancakes can be made extra thin and crispy - I highly recommend it. I've eaten at this place at least twice a month for almost the last year (it used to be Georgia Street Cafe) and it never fails to deliver. Caveat - sometimes you need more than an hour's lunchtime =(

  • Kay P.

Well I have been now twice to meet my parents for breakfast and the service was great and the coffee always full. I ordered the ham and cheese omelet with O'Brien potatoes and toast. The meal wasn't one of my favorites, there was very little cheese compared to the large "dried out" omelet left and the potatoes were just fine. Breakfast isn't really my thing so I base my comment comparing it with others I've eaten! The IHOP ham/cheese omelet is still the best for the price. I also am not a fan of the house converted into a restaurant seem hugh at first yet cluttered. Pet peeve of mine is a bug-a-boo waitress, overkill!! If pops is paying I'll try again otherwise I'll go elsewhere.

The Good Day Cafe has something for everyone, from meat eater to the vegetarian. They have delicious waffles, or if you're feeling like staying to healthy fare, they have oatmeal and ripe fruit. Cindy is the life of the place, she knows everyone, and is very warm and friendly. All the other staff are just as nice, and friendly. I like it for breakfast and lunch, it is always tasty! It's a great place to bring friends and family. It's in a really cool space in historic downtown Vallejo. I recommend going on Saturday morning when the year-round farmers market is going on. That provides extra entertainment and amusement to your visit.

Diamond in the rough. Went here for a better meal than what was available at the pirate festival. Huge bowl of oatmeal, the omelets are fluffy with seriously fresh ingredients. By mushrooms they mean cremini mushrooms, sauteed in wine and garlic By spinach they mean perfectly cooked fresh leaves. The hash-browns were crispy outside and perfectly soft inside, I haven't had they that good anywhere for a few years now. My guy asked for poached eggs (not on the menu) and they made those well too. Biscuit was okay not great, a bit too dough tasting no flaky-ness. Service was very friendly. Even asked if I wanted fresh "home made" salsa for the eggs! Although she either heard me wrong or forgot about it. The eggs didn't need it though. Coffee was decent, not great but better than most diners.

What a great find. The decor and atmosphere aren't anything to write home about but for a homey, old fashioned type of place, they have a great menu, good food and I was pleasantly surprised by the vegetarian options. There were enough things on the menu for me (lifetime veggie) that I could go back more than one time and get something different; a real treat. Lots of places have one measley vegetarian offering, especially places I would put in the same category as Good Day Cafe. Besides that, the food was really good, reasonably priced and the service was great. And they are downtown, something I really appreciate and want to support. Our downtown needs places like this. It was so nice to wander in here after strolling the Farmer's market. I will be back.

like some other reviewers, I will say this is no Georgia Street Grille (which I really miss). I have only been here once. The food was ok, not anything special, but not terrible either. I had an omlette (which didn't have enough cheese) and my husband had pancakes. The potatoes were good, coffee was fine. The portions were large, and price was just ok for the quality. What I did enjoy was the service. The waitresses were great...very friendly and attentive. I would give it another try just based on this fact. Also, in reading some of the other reviews it sounds like the lunch is good, so I think I'll try that next :)

Funky return visit this past weekend. First of all my breakfast was served with one piece of toast when its usually two, I decided not to ask since its a carb and don't really need it but then the waitress yells from the toaster area, "who left this piece of toast in here." Well that would be YOU lady since you only brought me only one. The real gross out moment though was when the waitress had settled down to eat her sandwich, I have no problem with that but I do have a problem with the waitress licking her fingers and getting up and interacting with customers and most especially bringing people straws and food without having washed her hands, so gross! Sadly it will take a lot for me to come back!

This is one of the best little cafes ever. The staff is super friendly, and I love the trivia while you wait. And the food? Omg. I had the Jessica omlette with fried rice ion the side; eggs were absolutely perfect. I eyeballed everything that came out the kitchen and everything looked bomb. The special was fried chicken, eggs, potatoes and biscuits. The biscuits had this fabulous honey butter spread I couldn't get enough of. Don't sleep on this excellent downtown treasure.

We visited the cafe on a Sunday morning. It was a pleasant surprise, and as good as the reviews on Yelp. In fact, that's how we found it. We were looking for something new to try and close by, and the Good Day Cafe did not disappoint. It is in downtown Vallejo, a place that, being uppity Benicians, my wife and I don't usually have a need to visit. In fact, last time I was there two lovely young ladies hollered to me in my very sexy Passat and offered to perform acts with me that I've only performed with my wife for many, many years now. But I digress. This Sunday morning, downtown Vallejo was as lovely as it gets. Which is to say not very lovely, but improving a little. This cafe was a delight. The service was excellent, and the food was very good. I got the Popeye omelette, and it was stuffed with spinach, mushrooms, and jack cheese. Excellent hash browns and biscuit. My wife got the fried catfish special. Yes, I know, catfish for breakfast? Not for everyone, but it was very well prepared. Sides of 2 eggs and fried rice came with it. Huge mugs of strong coffee, refilled promptly. What more could you want on a Sunday morning out? The mix of people is eclectic. We saw a couple of (motorcycle) bikers, a couple of (I pedal my own butt around) bikers, completely average couples like us, some grandmas, and a number of people either on their way to or returning from church. Very eclectic crowd- apparently everyone finds something here they like. Will we go there again? Sure. It's a real asset for downtown Vallejo, which could use some more local, well run businesses like this that are good enough to draw people in from other towns. They have a sunny area for kids in the front of one of the two "halves" of the restaurant. A really great touch, and thoughtful for the kiddies to have a place to color and play if the folks want to read the paper for a little while.

their food is great, I wont lie. Im a HUGE fan of their biscuits and gravy, and their sweet potato fries are great too, however their service has been awful both times Ive been since they relocated. Way too many seats in the little restaurant with not enough servers. Also the building is set up very odd so that the waitresses can see you very well, so its hard to make eye contact. I want to give them a 5 star for taste but the service has been so bad I just cant.

What a great breakfast place! When the GDC was across town, next to the motel, the place seemed sort of hard and cold. Now at the new location in down town Vallejo it seems warm and inviting. We recently rode our bicycles across the US and I ate a LOT of Biscuits and Gravy! So I have a pretty good idea of what B&G tastes like. I order B&G with an egg on top and the Good Day Cafe version is dynamite! We have not been there when it's packed but it always seems busy and the service has been great. I was born and raised in Vallejo and we always look forward to our next breakfast at the Good Day Cafe.

Outstanding! Here today for the first time, for an impromptu Sunday brunch with my boyfriend. Didn't have to wait for a table, but there was enough of a crowd for it to be cheerful. Our server (Jenni?) was sweet and energetic and stayed completely on top of our order, food delivery and beverage refills...which rarely happens this well even st the best places. I had the garden omelet, which was stuffed and garnished with bright green, tender-crisp veggies, and probably the best country potatoes I've ever had: crisp, not greasy, with creamy insides. My boyfriend enjoyed a Jessica omelet with melted, quality cheese and more of those tender-crisp veggies. Only negatives are that his hash browns were watery inside, and the restroom was a little messy at the end of a busy Sunday. The manager seemed a little brusque when we heard her bossing what appeared to be a totally willing and responsive staff. Decor bright, clean, and inviting. We'll be back!

This place is located in the old Georgia Street Cafe. I am giving this place 5 stars because it represents everything good about Vallejo. The food was good, I love breakfast so that is all that I have had. I ordered an omelet with bacon, Swiss and avocado. I got it with hash-browns and toast. It was good! There were simple touches that made it great. The sourdough toast was great! They also chopped up the bacon into smaller pieces. It bugs me something serious when a restaurant puts a giant piece of avocado or slams two whole piece of bacon in the center of you omelet and you get a couple bite fulls of bacon and then it is over. My husband ordered the ultimate meat omelet. He loved it. He ordered his with fried rice and a biscuit. The thing that made this place was the service. All the staff was SUPER attentive. I have not been treated this well in some 5 star establishments. Most of the people seemed like local Vallejo residents. The wait staff knew every-ones name. This place was great.

I can't believe my own wife beat me to this. AND steal one my quotes! Good Day Cafe DOES represent everything that is good about Vallejo. A good respect of history, respect of other cultures, and respect for the customer, and most important of all, respect for making good food. You walk in and think, am I even in Vallejo... Yes you are. Where people are nice, and know you're name. Ask you how you're doing and serve you good food straight from the heart. These are all the things that make it even more enjoyable eating here. If you want to know what I ate... just read my wife's review!

There is absolutely no reason to go to breakfast anywhere else in Vallejo. Or American Canyon. Or anywhere else on the planet. Good Day Cafe has delicious food and an incredible staff. Their customer service is absolutely unparalleled, and they get to know their regulars quickly. I was devastated when their original location burnt down, but I'll be damned if they didn't manage to make this place ten times better than the original. I love this place, and I cannot stress enough how absolutely wonderful and delightful the owner is.

Good Day Cafe has become my new breakfast spot in town. The servers are uber friendly and the place has a comfy, kick-back vibe to it. You don't feel rushed to finish your breakfast, and everything is super fresh and tasty. The only thing I don't like is their fried rice. It's really crunchy and gets stuck in your teeth. The flavor of it is good, it's just the texture that sucks. They also have different specials each day and great coffee!!!

So far we have been twice and loved it! First everyone that works there is super nice and very prompt with getting you seated. They made sure to bring my sons food out first (he is a year and doesn't have the best patients when in a high chair). My husband is a breakfast snob and had nothing but great things to say about their Chicken Fried Steak breakfast and Corn Beef Hash. We will defiantly be hitting this place up for breakfast more often!

Not being familiar with Vallejo and wanting a non-chain place for a simple meal, I chose All Day Cafe based on Yelp reviews. I could not have been more pleased. I ate lunch one day and went back the next for breakfast. The food, while not particularly imaginative, was consistently fresh, clearly made to order, and quite tasty. Far more important was the enthusiasm of the staff. Cindy, the proprietress, served me the first day, and she could not have been more delightful. She was eager to discuss the menu and make recommendations, and she was attentive without being officious during my meal. She wasn't there when I returned the next day for breakfast, but it is obvious that her enthusiasm permeates the staff, who have clearly been trained to be attentive to their clients' needs. A requested substitution was made in my breakfast omelet without hesitation, and my beverages were never allowed to approach the bottom of their receptacles. The prices are fair for the quality of the food and service. I'd recommend the All Day Cafe without hesitation.

Good Day Cafe is the former Georgia Street Grill. I have been to Good Day Cafe a couple of times for lunch. I had the turkey sandwich with avocado and sprouts with sweet potato fries on the side. Delish!!! Everything was really fresh. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. Can't wait to try their breakfast!

Good Day Cafe was actually our second stop. The first place we went to didn't even bring us coffee after 10mins of waiting. Not true at Good Day Cafe. We had coffee immediately, menus in our hands, and were sitting at a clean table within seconds. The food is good (we had breakfast) and the service is fabulous. Friendly kind people work there and the patrons are the same. I would recommend checking them out.

I used to be a regular here and I really love the staff, but the food just isn't the same anymore. I never get lettuce that is clean. Everytime I get anything with lettuce it still has a noticable amount of dirt on it. I have had someone dine with me that got an old steak that was just about to turn. The cooks just don't put in the effort they should for a restaurant that was voted best in solano county. Also I feel the restaurant is just dirty, everytime I grab any of the condiments they are sticky and gross. I've gotten plates with food still stuck on them. The only thing this place seems to do right is the easiest thing to cook, breakfast. The front of the house staff is so friendly and provide excellent service but I won't eat here anymore unless it's for breakfast.

It's funny how something so very good fly under your radar for so long. Here it's been that I've lived in Vallejo for six hundred years or so, and never gone to the Good Day Cafe. Well, that oversight is now fixed. After reading good reviews here at Yelp!, my wife and I ventured down early one Saturday morning for breakfast. I usually order from the menu, and avoid daily specials, to avoid food that's like Chevrolets' continued selling of the current Impala. Talk about a car that needs to be retired. I mean really, seen a new Hyundai Genesis lately? Makes the Impala look really, really old. But! My bias against specials has expired, like the Impala's sell-by date. When our prompt and helpful waiter ran through the specials, he mentioned a "Pizza" Omelette. Hum. Curious combination of breakfast and dinner doing a mash-up. Intriguing. My wife ordered a more conventional egg-special, and I went for the Pizza Omelette with the house potatoes. Even before the food arrived, our crew was hitting their marks. Water arrived, coffee came and was re-filled shortly thereafter. And: Something other than the stalwart Tabasco Sauce on the table, a competing flavor. All good signs. While waiting for our meal, we enjoyed the great collection of historical photos of Vallejo on the table-tops and the walls. You can get a great sense of local history just by eating out; without the faux "we-are-you" decorations of chain restaurants. When the food arrived: large portions, and my potatoes were crispy per my request. Thank You! (Denny's will never get that idea right: Listen to the customer's request relating to their food) My Pizza Omelette was excellent: Pepperoni, Marinara Sauce, Mushrooms, Black Olives, Red Onion, and lots 'o melted Mozzarella. It was great. I plowed right into it, and still had leftovers to doggy bag home. Mixed with very good potatoes and that previously mentioned pepper hot sauce (Should've written that brand name down..!) and it was a great breakfast. After a really good meal, it was only a natural to stroll the Farmer's Market and score some fresh veggies for future cookings at home. So now my only question is for myself: What took you so long? Check out the Good Day Cafe. There's real people serving hot food promptly that was cooked to order. That's what they do! Well, too.

I love this place!! My family's here usually once a week or at least we try. The food is great, fresh and consistent. I tend to always get their country fried steak....YUMMY!! This menu is not for light eaters though. It's enough to leave you and a friend happy and full! ;) I guess the staff is what makes the place even better. There is such a homey feeling to this place. We have made friends with their staff. Christina, Rose, Ryan (to name a few) all such great people. They give great service to us, and especially our kids. They love my little one, who gets a kick out of all the attention she gets from them. She loves the toy section too! They have a toy chest that kids can freely play with. Best part of it is they bleach their toys often! Parents, how many times have you questioned the use of toys in a restaurant? You are most likely thinking that McDonald's has packaged toys which are safer. Good Day just gives us parents an added bonus! I will continue to return to this gem of a restaurant! If your in a food coma by the time your done, you can walk 2 blocks and enjoy a family stroll on the Marina. Overall, a great family restaurant....try it for yourself!

The food is good, if unremarkable, and the prices are OK. The coffee could be improved. Why can't you get a good cup of coffee at a breakfast joint? I wish they'd serve Moschetti coffee.

With so many great choices, at first it was difficult to decide, but the pancakes, hash browns, and eggs I finally chose were all delicious. LARGE portions make the (slightly higher) prices a good value. Very friendly service, too, particularly the cheerful owner who took good care of everyone. a great find tucked into downtown Vallejo - perfect for after the farmer's market! Good for families, too.

This is an update to my previous review of Good Day Cafe in it's new location on Georgia street. The last review was written after visiting on a weekday. We were looking for a place to eat this last Sunday and reluctantly went back to Good Day Cafe. What a difference from our first visit at this location!! This was much more reminiscent of the quality in their old location. I even remembered the waitress from the previous location. Service was great this time. We were seated promptly, received our menus immediately and coffee came quickly and repeatedly through our meal. Our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. The place was packed. The food came piping hot within a reasonable amount of time and was delicious. I was definitely impressed this time and I think we have finally found where we can get a decent breakfast in Vallejo!!!... at least on the weekend. Hopefully they will bring this same quality to their service on weekdays!! Sundays meal was GREAT!!! :-)

One morning Chris and I decided to have breakfast. He decided to take me to Good Day Cafe. I've never ate at a restaurant in downtown Vallejo and I didn't know that this restaurant existed. I'm glad Chris took me here because I had a wonderful experience and I would definitely come back. The waiters and waitresses are very hospitable. I was very comfortable in the restaurant. I ordered the country biscuits and gravy with country potatoes and two sausage links. My meal was very delicious and fulfilling. There is nothing bad I could say about it. Chris ordered the Linguica with scrambled eggs and hash browns. I took a bite out of Chris' Linguica and it was really good. The waitress asked us if we wanted salsa to go with our potatoes and I said no, but Chris said yes. I should of said yes. The salsa went perfect with the potatoes. Overall, I thought Good Day Cafe was a great choice for breakfast. I know I'll be back in the near future. Also, if you decided to order some orange juice, I suggest that you order a large because a small is literally a small.

2nd time around and food quality with friendly service gives a 5 star review from me. I absolutely was dying for some fried chicken and low and behold the daily special was right down my alley. Yelp also provided me with a 10% discount thanks to Good Day I feel just like family with only my 2nd return. Definitely on my list to become a frequent visitor again and again and again!!! If you are looking for a place with good food to make you feel completely satisfied like Moms/Grandmama use to make you feel then look no further. If it brings people like me miles out of the way then you know they are doing something right!

My girlfriend and I were heading from Lafayette to visit Napa Valley, and used Yelp to find this place to eat breakfast. It's definitely off the beaten path, and looks like a place where mostly locals go. We wouldn't have found it without Yelp. She had the Popeye omelet with ham added, hash browns, and an English muffin. She normally only eats part of her meal, but she liked her breakfast so much that she scarfed the whole thing! I had Chris's country scramble. This is a plate piled high with carbohydrates and calories: biscuits, cheese, sausage patties, and scrambled eggs, all covered in country gravy, and accompanied by a plethora of pan-fried sliced potatoes. It was wonderful, and very filling. I was ready for Napa Valley sight-seeing and wasn't hungry again until late that evening. The coffee was pretty good, too! And we had no complaints about the service.

Took a trip to downtown Vallejo for the weekly Farmers Market and decided on breakfast first. Of course since we were in the area, the decision was easy to make! Good Day Cafe it is! We walked in and it was busy...got a table and was immediately greeted with a warm Good Morning and offered a cup of coffee. We ordered the Christina Scramble and Chris Skillet (@ least I think that's what they were named!) Both items were delicious and I would order them again in a heartbeat. Also since I checked in on Yelp, I got 10% off! Started off the day great!

This place is so amazing!!! My boyfriend and I have been coming here for years and we love it. The food is always super tasty and fresh. Excellent service. Very clean place. Breakfast was delicious. First place in a long time that can make a proper over easy egg. Only problem was the over cooked bacon. That made me sad.

Went here for breakfast/brunch. Absolutely delicious! The chicken fried steak was seasoned perfectly. They put a touch of honey in the butter -- great on the home-made biscuit. My nephew had the Big Ben burger. It was an architectural masterpiece. Definitely not for sissies!

Update Review: My Fiance and I walked to this cafe on this lovely Sunny Sunday Morning. The wait was only a few mins but worth it. We were seated & our server Eric is awesome, He always checked to see if our food is good, how is the service. I ordered the Jessica omelette with ham, my fiance ordered chicken fried steak with eggs. Our food was so good, definitely worth the money. Plus in addition, check in on Yelp to get 10% off..

Thank you yelp for helping me find this sleepy cafe. While driving through this town, I thought how it looked like I stepped back in time, to Main Street USA. The outside of the place was plain and drab, but inside was colorful and cheery, with a feel of the community. The breakasts are huge, and the service is great... in fact a little too overwhelming. I was asked numerous times if things were ok, if I needed more coffee, or required more service. Originally I was going to get the corn beef hash, but the server suggested an omelette instead. It was an excellent suggestion... I had the popeye (spinch and mushroom) but added ham. The mushrooms were sauteed in a wine and garlic sauce, and the ham was not pressed but chunks of ham. The eggs were fluffy and I devoured the entire meal, including my hash browns and english muffin. It was that good! My BF had the country scramble, and it was huge. Both of us were stuffed all day, and ended up having a late 7:00 dinner Grade: B++

Ok ,i love this restaurant and have had times when i didnt think the service was very good, you know when your sitting waiting for something that you want that gos with your food and you cant eat it till you get it..But I will add that their food is always good,,So this morning we took my mom,who is here visiting me from North Carolina,we were showing off our fav breakfast place..So i ordered the Chicken fried steak, and its hands down the best of any restaurant ive ever been at and actually better than mine..It was as usual an a+,my boyfriend he ordered the ,i dont know it was Chicken fried staeak with country potatoes and gravy with cheese,he loved it..My mother though, she loves Corned Beef hash,,when it was delivered,i thought hmm its burnt, but when Kali came back and asked if everything was good,i just responded yes, because mine was perfect and no one said anything..i should have asked everyone, but,my mom ate most of her food and when all was done she told my boyfriend who wanted a bite, that she didnt think hed like it because it wasnt that good, referring to the fact it was burnt..everything else was good accept that..So when Kali came to give us our check,i told her that everything was good accept my mothers dish and found that my mom hated to complain. its why she didnt say anything to begin with, she hates when ppl complain..So i know this might sound like a bad review, but,Kali went back and removed it from our check, which we didnt really want her to do..She did it anyways, then her and Rose came back asking if they could offer her a free meak, and as my mom is leaving back to home on the 1st,we might not be back before then,So they gave us a free meal, and were very kind and were genuinely sorry about this mishap. What i want to say is,ill be back, because i love you guys..and next time when you ask if everything is fine,i will not answer till i know everyones satisfied,so im sorry for that.We could have had the problem fixed before it got to the end..i want to say thankyou to Kali and to Rose for being so awesome about the whole thing..

The Good Day Cafe is back!!! My family and I do a trip to the wine country just about 2 to 3 times a year. Stopping at Good Day Cafe for a scrumptious meal on the way there and back is part of our trip and we look forward to that as much as our trip! The past few times we were at Good Day Cafe, we were disappointed to find the genuinely positive and upbeat owner Cindy was not there. We could definitely feel a change in the restaurant, although we still felt it was a fabulous place to be! On one of our visits, we were told that Cindy had taken a leave to dedicate all of her time to her husband battling stage 4 cancer. Unfortunately Cindy's husband lost his battle but this confirmed that she made the right decision to be home with him and sacrifice her restaurant for a time. Our most recent visit was just the way it used to be, Cindy was right there to welcome us with her beautiful smile and wonderfully upbeat disposition! The Good Day Cafe is back to being the best!!!

Coffee there was really good and service was great. Food was okay, we ordered omelets and my moms omelet was vegetarian. Hers had tons of uncooked onion which ruined the taste of an omelet. If your going to put onions at least cook them if not then at least put a few bits not a handful. But over all it was great.

It was an early start to a good day, breakfast at the Good Day Cafe. Servers were inviting and friendly, seemingly happy to see us. Appeared that the joint aspires to be a bit more upscale in the cuisine for example catfish prepared "Southern Style", which really is fillets coated in corn meal batter and deep fried, it was ok. Thought the food was OK, albeit had the feeling the price was higher than what it should be, but hey, they have kept the doors open for a couple of decades. Itsa genuine down to earth comfy joint, with chipped coffee mugs for sale to help the "sustain me" movement.

I think I love coming here! I've only been about 6 times and each time the food is great. However the service could be better, I've had to ask for my toast multiple times through out the meal and then it finally comes in a paper bag as I'm walking out the door. Thanks. The food really is good though

First time here, and I must say it's every bit as good as it was described to me. Great mom and pop feel, and has a very vintage cafe feel which is awesome! I tried the country skillet and it was delicious. Definitely recommend. The service was great, Jennifer was very helpful and everyone is so nice. Will definitely be coming here again! Cindy was very outgoing and made me feel right at home, like I had been a regular for a long time.

We've gone here a handful of times since we moved here and the service is always wonderful. The ladies are very friendly and attentive. This last time I had the French Toast Combo and boyfriend had an egg/hash brown/bacon breakfast. Both were delicious and out really quick! I'd recommend this place for a good breakfast in Vallejo!

Lovely, delicious food in a cozy environment. Great place to visit right after hanging out at the farmer's market in the morning. The service is friendly, and the food doesn't disappoint. The hash browns are cooked crispy and the country scramble is one of my favorites. The coffee is surprisingly really good as well... so overall, if you're in the area and hungry for breakfast.. come try this place out.

The food is great! Best breakfast in all of Vallejo. The only negative comment I have is that the manager could be a little more friendly. Anytime she is our server I either feel forgotten or rushed.... Not how you want to feel at a restaurant that prides themselves on making sure you have a good day. Midsi is the best server there. She is always so sweet and is very attentive even when the place is packed! My favorite menu item is Christina's skillet with a side of corn bread :) it is so tasty and very filling as the portions are huge! Make sure you come have breakfast here the next time you are in Vallejo and are craving something delicious!

  • Audria S.

Food was good service was a little slow in the beginning. But once our server took our order she was on top of it, however she did ask us if we wanted their homemade salsa but she forgot to bring us some (and sure we could've just asked again, but the food portions they gave us were so small that there was no point in asking) Could've easily gave 4 stars but no joke, From my previous experiences here before and by looking at everyone else's plates being brought out and eying the people sitting next to us. My brother and I were served our food on SIDE plates. They gave us such a small portion that it looked like they halved it for us and who knows where the other half went. And you can read all the reviews where they say portions are very generous etc.. That is true, even that day looking at other ppls meals as we were walking out they were huge! Definitely shareable! But for some reason they served our food on effin small side plates. Note: we ordered their corned beef hash and chicken fried steak

The food is delicious, I will give them that. The staff is usually on-point and very nice. However, the prices here are a little bit out of control..and they charge for EVERYTHING! Our usual table orders are along the lines of the big burgers (HUGE!), biscuits and gravy, eggs, and spam (duhhh!!!) or corned beef hash. You could probably share a dish and then it wouldn't seem so expensive.

Very friendly service and great hot chocolate with big breakfast portions. Was a little disappointed in the chicken and waffles. The southern fried chicken was definitely frozen but the waffles were good, nothing to go out of your way though. I would go back though to try different menu items.

While I still frequent Good Day and continue to do so long as its infinite amounts of coffee keep flowing. Maybe I've been spoiled in my past experiences at Good Day, but now a days it seems like some higher power is forcing the servers to not be themselves. Your bound to sit down these days and have more than one waitress tell you "don't forget to read you cup for inspiration". Now as much as I wished it was just coming from one person...it comes from several different waitress'. What's the deal? I can SEE the cup! It's huge and yes I read one every time. So it's completely unnecessary of whoever it is making them say that, say that! Stop now, please, before I get so annoyed I forget to return. Going to Good Day was always about the individual people and their characters. I'm not going to take the time to remember each and every single waitress that has served me if they aren't individuals. Three stars because no one wants to work in an operation where they seemed forced lines to tell the customer.

I LOVE the Good Day Cafe. My husband I go a minimum of twice a month. I always order the same thing, Rose's Special: Two eggs, bacon, fried rice and an english muffin. They have the BEST coffee. Good Day Cafe is the only place where I drink two full cups of coffee. Another reason I love Good Day Cafe besides the food being delicious is that the food is always CONSISTENTLY DELICIOUS!!

Do you want some yummy breakfast food? Then this is the place to come! They totally rock it. And they are super kid friendly. When we went in yesterday the waiter said to my son - pointing to a large pail of toys - "See those toys? If you behave well and eat your breakfast you get to pick anything you want out of that pail!" Well my child sat still and ate his entire breakfast and was rewarded with a free robot at the end of the meal. It was awesome. Thank you Good Day Cafe!!

Here's a complement, "their chicken, is every bit as good as Ad-hoc in Yountville!" ordered the chicken and waffles, absolute best I've ever had, no exaggeration. Chicken was buttermilk sweet, golden fried, plump and juicy. Place was packed, but the waiting staff was above board in every way. What a great place in Vallejo, and the added bonus of farmers market right out the door on Saturdays, makes for a perfect day! Highly, highly recommended! Remy is the girl, and the manager Cindy hugged me! :)

The service was awesome. The staff was very friendly & always checked in on us. The food was great quality and super delicious. Breakfast and lunch are served all day. Cash or Credit is fine. The atmosphere is very spacious and homely. Water and Coffee were our choice of drinks and both were endless and delicious. I had the Hearty Country which had two giant biscuits smothered in gravy and I opted for 2 pieces of perfectly cooked bacon and the best hashbrowns ever... every bite had a crunchy outside and soft inside. The Hubbz had a French Toast Combo. They use TX sized bread and flavorful throughout. He opted for over-easy eggs and 2 sausage links. This was my 1st time and I look forward to my next visit - there's so much to try!

Can't say enough good things about this place. Always great food and atmosphere. Today I saw some people opening Christmas presents and then someone was celebrating a 70th birthday and the whole restaurant sung happy birthday. The food on paper looks a bit pricey but you for sure get a lot of food. The service is awesome and they employee a lot of people so you never have to wait or feel abandoned. This isn't the first and won't be the last.

Lived in Vallejo for year and just tried the place. I have a new favorite breakfast restaurant as of today. Hands down best biscuits and gravy I've had in years!! Delicious!!

My friend Anthony and I were driving around Vallejo looking for breakfast and I saw this place on yelp. The inside is much bigger then the outside! Doctor Who fans can relate! He had steak and eggs and I had linguicia and eggs. Both came with home style potatoes and home made corn bread. Omg the corn bread is delicious. Every coffee cup is huge with great sayings on them. Mine said life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but the number of moments that take our breath away. Good day Cafe was amazing and great service

5 star because the owner and the staff here are the most friendly and caring....and they treat you like your part of their family here. Plus the food here is excellent. We love their Chicken and Waffles. The BEST fried chicken in town! Everything here is made out of LOVE !!! I highly recommend this place. :D

I really enjoyed my breakfast at good day cafe, I didn't order anything special just pancakes eggs Bacon potatoes. But everything was great the eggs cooked perfectly the pancakes were huge the potatoes were delicious both the hash and the home. If your in town and looking for a great breakfast place - this is it, I will definitely eat here again when I'm in the area maybe next time I can try the lunch menu.

Good and good on my wallet. Nothing spectacular, but when you can't get into Joy of Eating it's a good backup.

Love this place! The delicious, home-style food mixed with the super friendly and accommodating staff make this place a true dining pleasure. My favorite is "Noah's crab sandwich" with cream cheese instead of pepper jack. The sweet potato fries are great. I also love the breakfasts. The bacon is hearty, not that thin, crappy bacon you get from Denny's. I order the hash browns extra crispy and they come out perfectly browned and crunchy. They also sell neat little gifts, cards, and stuff like that. An all around great place! Wish I could come out here more, but it is a little far from where I live.

  • Flavio B.

Fresh and delicious food! The staff was friendly and inviting. I ordered the Serena Omelet and my friend ordered the Good Day Omelet, both were plentiful and yummy. Honey butter and biscuit are absolutely great together. Their coffee roast added to the flavors and to the lovely morning experience. This is definitely a great place to share with friends, family and out of town visitors. Thank you and have a wonderfully Good Day!

Had a wonderful breakfast today with Mitzy, Marcus and Tori, at the good day cafe. Had the Good day omelet and country potatoes. With with a bold kiss of coffee. This is how to start a non working Saturday off. Thanks guys! I normally get the serena (crab omelet) but was in the mood for something different and was NOT DISAPPOINTED!

Worst service I ever had!!!!!! Waited 10 minutes for our waitress to come to our table, she never brought my toast and she never took our drink order, Someone else did. Ordered a biscuit with my meal that never arrived, so ordered toast instead thinking it would be easier, NOPE! It never came either. The waitress was forgetful and inattentive. Took even longer to get the check. Food was marginal but expensive for the service we received. That was my first and last time I will ever go there. Don't waist your time or money if they are busy

My husband, daughter and I decided to celebrate a belated New Years by going to breakfast. Stumbled across 'Good Day Cafe', glad we did. Talk about the best customer service we've experienced in Vallejo. The employees had smiles, the owner was working, greeting customers and handing out flowers to represent the new year and new life. The customers all seemed happy. The overall environment inspired a cozy feeling, smiles and a the desire to surely return. Its wonderful when the employees make you feel like family. The portion sizes are great and worth the pricing as is the quality of the items served. Our daughter enjoyed a kids menu item of half a waffle, the fluffiest waffle I've ever tasted and three large sausage links. My husband ordered the 'Duggerton' sandwich in all its great tasty spiciness, huge and yummy! I ordered the Crab Sandwich, which had been with REAL crab. Not fishy in the least and very tasty! The side of Thousand Island dressing I used to dip my freshly made fries in tasted much like the homemade stuff my mother use to make. Lastly the hot chocolate was topped with tons of Whipped Cream, Chocolate Sauce with a adorable touch of pink sprinkles. My sweet tooth craving was attended to very well. We suggest this place to anyone. Can't wait to go back. Oh and by the way you receive a discount on your first visit if you mentioned you found them via Yelp, which we did. :) PS Those with young children, not only did our daughter get the typical coloring paper and crayons but they also offered a (cute $1 toy) toy as long as the parents agree that the child ate enough of their meal. Thought the idea was adorable and unique.

1st time eating at this place. Killing time, found this place on yelp. Food was off the hook. Good flavor, not too much not too little. Service was excellent . Waitress ( Liz) was friendly and diligent . I'll be bringing my family with me next go around. I highly recommend it.

Always a friendly greeting, always a great meal. Mmmmmm, the Popeye omelette! I could comfortably hang out there all day and feel I was among friends. Nice energy. Can't wait to share with my out-of-town friend next weekend.

The handful of times I've been to the Good Day Cafe has been a homerun every time. The food is always great! Has that home cooked taste and feel. The atmosphere is very friendly and feels like family. Weekends are packed! That tells me how much the local people loves this place. Cindy, the owner is very friendly and has such a positive aura about her. I just finished a meal here and felt compelled to shout out on Yelp and let the world know how much I enjoy every aspect of this place!

This place was wonderful. Great, family friendly atmosphere and the service was fantastic. I had the homemade corned beef hash, which was phenomenal and my wife and son both loved their meals as well (I forget what they had). Our server was great with my son and even let him choose a toy out of their toy bucket before we left! The host was also very friendly. We'll definitely be back!!!

After spending all day Friday and Saturday participating in the Napa Valley Ragnar Relay, my team and I wanted to have a nice breakfast before we headed home to SoCal. We found this neat place ten minutes from our hotel (which was right across from Six Flags). This cafe absolutely hit the spot. I tried their Jessica omelet with spinach. It felt like it was a reasonable price for the type of breakfast place it was, but then it came with a side of potatoes and toast. So much more worth it and it was all very delicious! This cute place has great customer service and great food. I checked in on Yelp thinking that I would only get the discount, but our waitress gave our whole table a 10% discount AND split our checks for 12 people. So nice of her! I would definitely come back if I'm ever up north.

  • Bianca D.

Came here with my dad before we heading over to Six Flags. Super close and convenient to the park FYI. The place was pretty empty, but it was mid morning on a weekday so it was as expected. The staff were all super nice and we got an endless supply of coffee pronto..major plus! Anyways the food was pretty good. I had spinach and mushroom omelet and also got to try the french toast. Both were quality dishes, standard among most cafes I would say. Used a Yelp Check in discount as well--Another plus! Overall, friendly staff, good food, quiet restaurant.

What a pleasant surprise! A gem among many empty businesses in downtown. Local history, a sense of family and friendly staff. We went for breakfast and were blown away with the quality, quantity and flavor. We are not locals nor do we visit Vallejo often, but we will definitely stop by again when we're in the area. Don't pass this one up. Support a local business that surpasses all expectations.

I'm still kind of fuming over something minor at lunch. Daughter was asked if she'd like some bacon with her waffle. She said yes, so I thought that we would see a two-dollar increase in the price of her plate. Instead, we find out that the side (3 slices) of bacon that she ordered cost $5.50. This is whacky! At almost $2 per strip, it should have been some of the most succulent, flavorful bacon in Northern California, but it was really just a step up from Denny's. Otherwise, the place is just okay. The $54 lunch bill for two burgers, a waffle, and drinks was some serious sticker shock. I won't totally discount this place, but it's not a place that I'll ever become a regular.

I enjoy coming here after I was walking around the Saturday Farmer's market. I had a server named Rosa and she was really sweet and also checking on my table to see if I needed anything else. Next time I come here, I am going to bring my family and my fiance to this cafe.

I went there to have lunch with a friend. The service was very good the food was very fresh the Tori's Turkey sandwich is very healthy if you are working a diet program with a fresh bowl of fruit. My friend had the veggie burger, that looked very good. I would love to go the next time I am in the area. The waitress was very nice.

Cindy Balanesi, is the owner of Good Day Cafe and she invented a corned beef hash that is incredibly scrumptuous! It's light, got a lot of corned beef, a lot of seasoning but not overpowering, really finely diced onions/tomato/potatoes.... you've got to try it. And, the biscuits. They are the best I've ever had. Moist and light. Again - aftwards check out LaVonn Salle's art studio next door @ 310 Georgia. She has crazee Barbie transformed into insects, drag queens & S&M positions. ooakbarbies.com

Way over priced for what you get. I got better dishes for less in the city of San Francisco. I was really hopeful because I like mom and pop cafes but I was let down. I spent $60 for ham and cheese between dried bread and a few scrambled eggs. My daughters PB&J was dry. I had to spread jelly on it because I could barely make out the trace of what was suppose to be on there. My sandwich could have been done up. Some veggies, mayo...something besides just the ham and cheese. For 8 dollars it should have been better the subway. The menu says unlimited refills on the sodas but that's not true. Since they serve from a can you only get three. That's more than enough but that's not what the menu says. The waitress was nice but was trying to be social. Way too much and not even social with me but with my husband. Could have asked me at least how far along I was. The kids got offered a toy if they ate their meals and at the end she tells me she's going to check and see if there are any... you can't do that. If you tell kids your going to get a toy make sure you can deliver first. good thing they had some. It was lousy. I wish I could get my money back and go elsewhere.

"Where good food and good service meet." This is Good Day Cafe's promise and the restaurant delivers. The first time I wandered in, my boyfriend and I had just come here from Las Vegas, and the service was exceptional; The waitress welcomed us to the area and to our new breakfast spot. The dishes are not only consistent and delicious, but the environment quirky and homey. I definitely recommend the joint to start off your good day :)

Had breakfast here with the bf :) The food was great, & the service was even better. I ordered Belgian waffle combo with sausage links & over easy eggs. I also added a side of fruit on my waffle--yum!!! My bf had the French toast with bacon & over easy eggs. He also loved it. Overall, great little place for breakfast on a Sunday morning!!! We will be coming again ;)

Breakfast/brunch menu features good comfort food variety and preparation is as ordered. Service is friendly but SLOW...even when there are very few customers in the place. Coffee is just OK and a refill required a direct request. Overall a pleasant experience...considering this is Vallejo;-× On that note I was well into my meal when a "bag lady" came through the door, very disheveled, trash bag full of her belongings in hand. No real issue except she was noticeably "ripe", even from a distance. The waitress steered her to a table immediately next to mine. Plenty of other nice tables available. Not to be harsh but her body odor was overwhelming. I flagged my server, requested she box my remaining food and bring the check. The server could have been more respectful to both of us without ruining my dining experience or embarrassing the unfortunate woman. In any event, I hope she enjoyed her meal. I needed some fresh air ASAP.

My partner and I are slowly becoming regulars here, it's our favorite place to go for breakfast on Saturday or Sunday mornings. We've never had a bad meal here the food is just soo good there is NOTHING on the menu that I would not recommend. Remember to get the salsa, its freshly made and oh so good on EVERYTHING!!! My partner wears a mohawk so every time we come in the love seeing how he's changed the color, or how he's spiked it, or whatever changes from the last visit. The coffee is amazing, the staff is friendly and you can tell the really do love their jobs. Even when it's busy you never have to wait too long for anything. Yes from the outside the place looks like a hole in the wall, then you enter and find it really is MUCH bigger on the inside (Doctor Who fans unite). This is a don't miss place if you are in downtown Vallejo.

Great breakfast. We went on a Sunday morning. Downtown Vallejo is pretty dead, so we were worried about whether the place was open. Very glad that it is, but the breakfast crowd was light, so I hope Good Day Cafe can hang in. I had the Country Skillet. Country potatoes are among the best I've had. Really nice flavor. The biscuit & gravy were excellent. Wife had Jessica's omelet. Eggs were fluffy; nice fresh taste to veggies. Biscuit on the side with honey butter was fantastic (just as another Yelp review advised). Be sure to get the homemdade salsa. Just a little kick of spicy pepper. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Nice bonus -- mentioned Yelp and got 10% off. BTW - what the heck is wrong with Vallejo? Great location. Lovely old downtown - - and this city went bankrupt??

I have been to Good Day Cafe twice now and both times did not disappoint. The food was on point and the service I received each visit was spectacular. I had the pleasure of being served both times by Remy, who was cheerful and always made sure that everything was going well at our table. She was awesome! The only reason that I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because it seems like the prices are just SLIGHTLY on the higher end. Other than that, we had a great experience.

So far this is the best breakfast spot in Vallejo, over Buttercup and Joy of Eating. Service was so on point. The owner and waitresses where on their A game. The joint had had a really cool friendly/family vibe. I ordered Chris's Egg Scramble which was BOMB. It's a big comfort breakfast meal. You get some super fully and heavenly scrambled eggs, under a sausage patty covered with some yummy gravy thats gets all over your face. The country potatoes are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, I even had to order another side of these. The burgers were also delicious along with the sweet potatoes fries. Overall great food and stellar service. Giving this place a 5 star because its the best breakfast spot in Vallejo, I will be back for sure. =)

Best breakfast spot in vallejo. Home potatoes are awesome. Omelets are good, pancakes are pretty good. The place is clean. And let me add that I have eaten at Joy of Eating, and MoMo's in vallejo and Good Day Cafe has better breakfast overall. Yet I must admit joy of eating pancakes are the best, but everything else isn't that good. Overall Good Day Cafe is a must for breakfast

Love this place. Have been going since before the fire and love the new location just as much. I love the Linguica and eggs and would highly recommend it to anyone! Liz has been my server for the last few times I've been In and she is great ! The place is always busy but the servers make you feel like the place is empty. Keep up the good work and if your looking for a good place to eat i highly recommend this place.

Took my family to Good Day early on a Sunday to avoid the morning rush. Still busy but I was amazed by how they handled the crowd. We got seated after a few minutes. Everyone very friendly and our server was great. The food is good. My favorite breakfast place in Vallejo. Where else can you get fried rice with your breakfast. Hot links and eggs with fried rice? Yum. Prices are reasonable and menu is just right. This is a great family place. Happy place happy people.

This place is all around goooood. After living in Vallejo, I have feasted in corporate restaurants such as Denny's and Ihop. I have recently become bored of the bland food and lack of customer relations that these places offer and decided to venture off to find something new. This place is a diamond in the rough located right in downtown Vallejo nestled in between two shops that look vacant and/or closed for the day. The exterior of the place resembles a typical local cafe found in the depths of San Francisco, which was perfect for me since I originated from there. When you walk into the place, you walk into a long narrow dining room filled with old photography of Vallejo that dates back to the 1600's (WELL, I FOUND IT INTERESTING :)). The interior decor of the place is very nice, and again resembles a quirky coffee shop found in the city. On my visit here, I ordered the country fried steak and eggs with a side of fried rice and a biscuit with honey butter. I wont go into too much info on it because its an experience that you HAVE to do on your own...to put it in simple terms: FRICKEN DELICIOUS. The staff here are beyond friendly and can definitely entertain their guests. My three year old son came with me here and he was given a choice to pick out a brand new toy out of their "toy bin" for free just for being a customer. Now, I don't know about other parents, but a business that treats my kid well, treats me well. So, the next time you're hankering for some good wholesome food with great service while supporting local businesses, definitely try this place out!

Wow very busy but I guess there is a reason. Came here a long time ago and couldn't find it again but while wandering the farmers market on sat I stumbled on it. Glad I found it again. Very friendly staff and good food and coffee. I'll be back.

This place is pretty darn good. The portions are really good sized, and our server, Tori was very friendly! No bloody Mary's yet, because they are waiting on their liquor license, but definitely a good Vallejo breakfast spot. Once they have bloody's, this place will be a 5 star all day!

  • Antoinette S.

I've eaten here before, but this review is about service! I was approaching the entrance when Remy opened the door for me and asked if I was alone. I told her I wanted to order something to go and with a smile, she handed me a to go menu, but offered me a full menu also. I was taken to the counter to place my order and I was offered so many options in addition to a seat and something to drink while I waited. I felt so welcomed and then, I looked up and saw a very interesting sign. There was a picture of Chef Ramsey and the sign said, treat every guest as if they were Chef Ramsey. I smiled because I think Chef Ramsey would be proud. Remy took customer service to the level that it needs to be and to think, all I got was oatmeal and toast to go.

Super friendly and welcoming with great service. Big portions. Chili Cheese Fries were so good!! All the orders than came past me to other tables looked amazing. Definitely a go-to place for some weekend brunching action seeing as they serve breakfast and lunch until 3pm. A Vallejo gem.

This place was perfect. We are staying in Vallejo for the week and our landlord gave us a list of local restaurants. This was recommended for breakfast. I got coffee and turkey sausage & eggs, my husband got the 1/4lb hamburger party & eggs. Seemed a little pricey for breakfast, but in retrospect, I think that's more of California in general (I'm from North Carolina) - ours was $22 including our 10% discount for checking in on yelp. The place is so cute - one of those diner types with different mugs at every place setting. Each table is the "x family table" - we were at "Bob & Anita's Table." Also there's a "trivia booklet" which was fun. A table across the room of 50-somethings was having a ball with it. A nice little quirky add-on. Tori and another gal (didn't catch her name but she had dark hair and a thick accent) were very pleasant. Breakfast and lunch served all day, so no pesky time constraints. Hit up Good Day Cafe for some down home grub!

This was a great place. I was visiting in Vallejo, and walked by and decided to go in. I'm glad I did. Great service, great breakfast food, and great prices. My coffee was never below half full, which is a plus if you like your coffee nice and hot like I do. I'm pretty simple at breakfast joints, and enjoyed my sausage and eggs, with hot sauce of course.

  • Alex R.

When I come here, I'm always seated and greeted quickly by the friendly staff. Definite plus points. First time here, I had the Cristina's country skillet. It was a ton of food (eggs, potatoes, steak pieces) with gravy poured on top, pretty good with my usual heavy hand of hot sauce. I had a bite of the the peanut butter waffle with bananas and it was tooo sweet for my taste, could lay off the PB a lil bit and it would have made it better. But for those with a sweet tooth, knock yourself out. Chicken and Waffles was a special of the day for lunch, which was AWESOME. CRISSSSSPY chicken skin that didn't totally fall off in one piece when you bite it apart, with a fresh waffle and eggs. Couldn't ask for more. Oh and of course a caffeine feign like me would notice little things like their coffee cups. I LOVE their big mugs they serve their coffee in.

  • Marty R.

This place is what a breakfast joint should be. Great eggs, pancakes, home fries, etc. I loved the fresh salsa although that was the one item that did not come in a generous proportion. The coffee was good, the service friendly, the place clean but just worn enough to have character. Try the corned beef hash...Yum! My only other negative comment is that they had limited hot sauces, just Tabasco. If in Vallejo for breakfast or lunch, try this place!

Came here for the first time the other day w/ coworkers for lunch. I made reservations since I wasn't sure of the availability for a party of 13. When we arrived our table was set up and waiting for us. The service was great! I really appreciate how attentive everyone was. My food was ok. I got Jim B's sandwich (warm) w/ french fries. I want to return soon to try something off of the breakfast menu.

Great food! Cute interior! Fantastic service! They've hit the trifecta of what it takes to be a great restaurant and so, it's an automatic five stars!!! Browsing around on Yelp for a little breakfast place before a trip to Napa, I stumbled upon this little gem. Reviews were very encouraging so we decided to test it out. A little known place in Vallejo - why not? It was Saturday so the street was closed due to Farmer's Market. Parking was still plentiful and it was easy to walk up to the restaurant. It was only about 9 AM so there were no lines and we found seating for the three of us immediately. The restaurant is very quaint and is full of character - so far removed from the sterile, industrial interiors of many modern day restaurants... this oozes charm out of every nook and cranny. Coffee comes in huge mugs with some really funny quotations. And then we looked at the menus! Options galore... and I chose to go with The Hungry Harriett (for petite appetites!!!) for $13.95 This gargantuan breakfast consists of: - 2 eggs over-easy (cooked your style) - Hash browns (or browned potatoes or fried rice) - Bacon (or sausage links) - Biscuit with sausage gravy - 5x Dollar pancakes - Coffee Every single item was delicious. This is the ideal way to start a wine tasting trip through wine country - you have sufficient carbs in your system to help absorb all that alcohol you will be drinking later in the day :) Service was exceptional. Our waiter Nick was so accommodating to special requests, got us free replacement when he accidentally mixed up an order, continuously checked in on us and even told us some cool stories with his recommendations. This is the kind of personal, friendly service that seems to be lacking in so many of today's establishments and this is the kind of stuff that will make repeat customers. Good Day Cafe received a "Best in Service" award in 2011 according to a plaque on their wall. It was well deserved. ~ 5 stars for a most amazing breakfast with great friends, food and service. And then, we were off to wine country :) # 254

Food and service was amazing. I live in Fairfield so I jumped on here and seen the positive reviews. Me personally, find it a an injustice to take away one star for price. If your looking for a cheap experience go to McDonald's for Christ sake! This place is wonderful. The man that greets you at the front desk is very polite and put a smile on my face. Going out to eat is a luxury. If you can't afford a tip, you shouldn't be dining out. Don't complain about the price of the food! Remember these people work for tips. I don't make a lot of money myself but left the waitress and host a tip. I had the chicken fried steak special cut up over potatoes with eggs gravy and cheese on top. It was perfect. 5 stars for good day cafe!

I 've lived out here for 16 years and I can't believe I've never gone to this place before. If you also haven't been, you need to at least go here for breakfast and order the Chris Country Scamble. I could try to make it at home but would never taste as good as it did there, the thought of it alone still makes my mouth water.

I just had breakfast here today. What a find in Vallejo. They are so welcoming right from the start, both the host and the waitresses who are really nice and friendly in a genuine way. I had one of their special scrambles, eggs, seasoned beef, spinach, onions, artichoke hearts with your choice of cheese. It was huge and I ate every bite. The potatoes were really good too. Delicious coffee, so much better than Starbucks. Their lunch menu looks really appetizing too. If great food and service are important to you, don't hesitate to dine here.
