I came in and placed my order and the Hispanic/Asian looking man who took my order wasn't friendly as usual with his "I hate to be here face". He asked me if I wanted the plate with one enchilada or two. I said I wanted the one with two. I came home in the pouring rain to find out there was only one. I called to let them know and the guy who answered ONLY CARED about how much I paid and if I paid for ONE or TWO! It doesn't matter what I paid, I didn't get what I ordered and I was already home. It's not my fault they didn't place my order correctly. He didn't care about the point I was trying to covey to him. ALL HE CARED ABOUT WAS IF I PAID FOR IT. I asked if he was the owner and he didn't answer me. Then he asked me if I wanted free food! In other words, in his eyes, I was only trying to get free food! WOW, terrible customer service. Follow up: This gets worse and worse! I had also ordered a plain bean and cheese burrito for my husbands lunch the next day (today) and he sends me a picture of a chicken burrito! My husbands HATES chicken!

Great margaritas! Nice folks. Darn Decent to good Mexican food. Great rotisserie chicken. Love the patio.

Best authentic taco's ever , been coming here since about 1990. Very casual and affordable and great food!

Can you say... "roofieritas" (just kidding) but really. The Alamo is very generous when it comes to their pitchers of margaritas, and my friends and I love it! I have always really appreciated the outdoor patio this place has to offer. It's a nice place to just chill out, drink with your friends, and have good times... along with some debauchery of course. I also want to note that with every pitcher/entree ordered you are given a free basket of tortilla chips along with your choices at the salsa bar! The food is decent, nothing fancy, and well priced. They serve 99¢ bean&cheese burritos and they are perfect for a cheap bite along with your booze. The Alamo is easily the best and most convenient place to grab a pitcher in the SCV. If you're looking to get your buzz on, this is your place!

After reading some of these reviews I had my doubts if it was The Alamo I remember. I haven't been here in about 5 years. Always loved the food and the margaritas! I think it actually is better than I remembered. I had the Carnita Burrito and my gf had the Carne Asada taco and Chili Relleno. All of it was absolutely excellent. Bast part it was much more reasonably priced then any Mexican place around. This will become one of my regular dinner places again. Service was great, people working there we polite even telling us were the warm seats were on the patio. I have nothing negative to say about this place.

  • PAUL H.

This place is one of those SCV spots that ALWAYS has people relaxing in its outdoor seating area. I've been several times (less than 10) and have always thought "meh." Sure, it's cheap-ish, and it's one of the few places you can have a margarita outside, but the quality of the food is very so-so to me.

We love this place. Seriously, we are here once a week! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, maragritas! We can't get enough! Their salsas are good, my kids live the quesadilla and I love the prices.

  • Jack G.

Personally, I love this place. Not the best food and drinks in town, but for the price you can't go wrong.

Today the chicken in my enchilada was Pink almost red almost RAW... I had been here several times before ...not planning on coming back

I walk in and some guys arguing with a woman behind the counter. Same guy gets my order wrong but acts like he got it right. Another employee fixes it and refunds the extra I paid. Both guys act like I should be happy with what they decided I wanted. I walk back in and they are saying something about me. Nobody wants to order food and have to argue with the workers to give them what they order. If I was the owner I'd look for better staff or be willing to lose business for no reason.

  • April E.

Worst atmosphere, food, and employees ever! The sign says rotisserie, but they do not serve anything that is actually made using a rotisserie! The employees couldn't answer simple questions about the menu items. Horrible!

I will never come to this establishment again. Let me begin by saying my 1-star has nothing to do with the food. The Alamo has wonderful food and great margaritas. That is the primary reason why I went there the other day was to have one of their amazing margaritas. Unfortunately what happened after that is what really frustrated me. The customer service here is appalling. We ordered a pitcher of their strawberry margarita. They gave my friends and I 3 glasses. One of the glasses had lip-stick print stains on the rim. Clearly these glasses had not been cleaned prior to being handed to us. My friend has a peanut allergy. If there were strains of peanut in these lip stains, they have a potential law suit. Or worse, we could have contracted a disease. DISGUSTING. There is no other word to describe it. BUT when my friend went to say something, first the owner tried to pretend he couldn't see it. Which was bullshit because we showed other customers and they saw it. So his first solution was to just hand my friend a new empty glass. Then he had the audacity to say, "What do you want me to do?" And my friend goes, "I want another margarita and a new glass." So his next response was, "I don't have time to make you another margarita." Really? Right. Okay then. So he goes and pours just basic, regular margarita WITHOUT ice into an empty glass and then hands it to my friend like this was acceptable. My friend takes it and notices there is MORE lip marks on this glass than the last. By this time my friend is frustrated and his next solution is to "give us our money and we can go." WHAT?! As a business owner, you would rather pay off disgruntled customers rather than making a new margarita?? Are you kidding me?? I will never go here again after this experience because it is a small business and the owner is always in there. I no longer trust that my health is safe there. This place has an A rating, but honestly, that is bullshit.

Stopped here recently for lunch to try a new place, and had a very bad experience. Service was indifferent, workers more interested in talking about their personal lives than taking orders and working with customers, and overall food below average, the worst I have had in quite a while. If you want good basic middle of the road Mexican food in SCV avoid this place and go to El Presidente or Don Cucos, or safer, go to the Habit burger next door to the Alamo. Food is bland and very stale-tasting, I had a basic plate with beans and rice and everything tasted like it had been incubating somewhere for quite some time. And I was right about the incubator: I got the Hershey Squirts that evening, probably from this food, so I will certainly Remember the Alamo, but for the wrong reasons. And I won't be back. Ever.

  • Jacqueline M.

Came here because it is always busy here. If it's busy it should mean the food is great right?!?! Uh was I WRONG!! The food sucks here! Now that I've came inside ordered food and tried it. I see that people only come here for booze and the social.

    (1)
  • Dominick B.

I've been here several times with my wife and let me tell you, the food is mediocre at best. This place is always busy and I still haven't figured out why. The only thing I can think of is that its the only Mexican food place nearby. Do yourself a favor and drive down McBean to Valencia and make a left on Newhall Ranch Road and go to El Presidente....now that's good Mexican food!

    (2)
  • Mr F.

Not joking I have been eating at Alamo from time it opened 1985.. and its been good.. but now I will not return ...I believe the manager unfriendly 30 something YOA ..or food prep person put something in my food ..got very bad case of food poisoning called health department. and there apparently more than one case was reported that day ...if I was a older weak or other person... I may have needed medical care or ER visit from this food.

    (1)
  • Jane L.

The food here is as authentic as you're going to get in VALENCIA! Other places like Don Cucos or El Presidente suck and overcharge for their nasty food. The Alamo is good, decently priced, and makes me feel at home. Some of their employees can work on improving their customer service skills, but other than that, I love the place! It's a very popular place for my fiance and I to have our date nights. Try their burritos, tortas, and tacos!!

  • NAOMI C.

Went here for the first time today. I've wanted to try this place for a while, as it's one of the few Mexican take out places along my drive home from work. I got the taco/chile relleno combo, which I thought was quite tasty. Wasn't crazy about the tortilla chips - theirs are thick and crunchy, and I prefer the thin, crispy type served in most sit-down restaurants. They have a good choice of fresh salsas at the salsa bar, and I sampled most of them. None of them were super-great, but all were good. Contrary to some of the reviews here, I found the staff to be very cordial and helpful. Overall, decent food for the price -- I'm sure I'll be coming back from time to time.

Would only come back on Tuesdays for their taco deal. Shredded beef taco tastes better than ground.....! Overall, just okay

One star is truly TOO high a rating for this restaurant. About 4 pm, on a Thursday, I stopped here to use a discount card...but the 10% discount I received wasn't worth saving my cash on the poor service and food. When I stopped in they were not busy, but I must have stood and waited 3-4 minutes to be recognized as a potential customer at their front counter. A female employee was chatting with a seated customer a few steps away and didn't acknowledge the front counter (nor me) until a man came in and stood at the other register area. Then she walked around the counter and asked him what he wanted. Not be completely ignored, I spoke up with "hey, excuse me!". She then walked over in front of me and asked for my order. When my order came out of the kitchen, another ee/mgr? took it and placed the foam container box inside a bag. When I saw how he had put it in the bag, I told him that the box was open (hate to think of all that food and sauce that would have slipped out of the box and into the bag on my way home). I wish it would have ended there...when I arrived home with what I thought I had ordered, a fish/shrimp fajita, I opened up a thick tortilla bulging with beans that were hiding the few small pieces of fish and shrimp inside it. I tried to reach the manager by phone, but after waiting 2-3 minutes for him to pick up the phone that was not on "hold", I gave up! In no way will I ever again spend my money in this establishment, nor recommend it to anyone else, with or without any discounts!

Menu is 3 star. The 1 star rating is for allowing smoking in the outside dining area. There is never a shortage of smokers ready to fill the air with their second hand smoke. I'm told that the City of Santa Clarita has no ordinance against smoking in outside dining areas. WTF? What's wrong with this city council, don't they care about the health of their residents. The Alamo sure doesn't!

    (1)
  • P S.

Been eating there for 20 years. The fajitas are great, among the best I've had. So are the wine margaritas. Patio or right on the strip mall sidewalk and people smoke there. Recommended.

    (3)
  • Angela A.

Cashier was rude and not helpful. Food is eh considering the steak I ordered was difficult to cut. Heard this is a good late-night-drunk eatery kind of place; they were right.

    (2)
  • Kimberley B.

So...thought it would be a good idea to try this place since it's close to home and seems like they get good business. Thought we would sit outside. After a few moments while deciding what to order, there was a dog off leash who obviously belonged to a group at another table who was allowed to roam from table to table, jumping up to see whether there was food for it to steal. All the while, the owner sat there not paying any attention, never calling his dog away. It also seems that this place allows smoking on their patio, not seeming to care about the no-smoking laws around food establishments. What a turn off. Enough for us to leave and never try to return. If the owners of this place cant be bothered following laws or enforcing "pet/health laws", then no matter what the food might be expected to be isn't worth it to me.

This little spot has bomb tacos and the best "michalada" in town! A most do if your intown for lunch!!!!GO SPARTANS!!!!!

  • Ruth B.

I got the tacos and they weren't the best but still good. The margaritas are amazing tho! Regular as well as strawberry and mango.

    (3)
  • Jaclyn H.

Decent street tacos for Taco Tuesday, awesome nachos for my lunch breaks, and great fucking margaritas for when I'm off the clock, hehe. Also free chips with the margarita pitchers. Yum. No complaints, just try and get there early before everyone's off work if it's hot so you can get under an umbrella!

The Best Taco Tuesday In Santa Clarita Valley & The Best Margaritas In Scv Too!! :)

  • Lori D.

YUMMY!!! Inexpensive Mexican food that does not lack authentic flavor!!! We love their steak fajitas!!! Portions are generous enough to share if you want, but they are not piggy sized! Definitely satisfies my "Border" cravings :-)

    (5)
  • Samantha H.

Amazing food! Only real issues I have with the place are how small the place is, and the obnoxious regulars that sit outside all night getting sloppy drunk and smoking like crazy...cigarette smoke doesn't typically bother me, just keep it away from me while I'm trying to eat!

    (4)
  • Kimberly Cameron V.

Kimberly Cameron, Valencia, CA The Alamo in Valencia is great! I crave the cheese quesadillas!!! They are delish w/ chicken/beef also, but I still prefer the plain, cheese quesadillas. Get a margarita & some chips & salsa too!!

  • John B.

Update 12/3/10 Just recently learned that they don't make Al Pastor. If their chicken and margos weren't so good this would have put their 5th star in jeopardy but I think they're safe. 5/20/10 The Alamo is the nearly perfect Mexican joint. The chicken fajitas are awesome! The nachos are awesome. The carne asada is solid and the margaritas?? OOO Baby. A pitcher of margaritas and things may get very silly. With reasonable beer and margo prices Fridays and Saturdays can get packed. And the tattooed 20 something crowd can occasionally get a bit loud. Good news is that you can usually move around the corner to the much quieter, kid friendly seating at the Habit if you choose. So have a torta and a margarita.....Heck have two.

  • CC C.

God, it had been YEARS since I had eaten here. Couple weeks ago, hiked Towsley with the hubby and needed a nice relaxing lunch outside with a cool drink. Place was packed... I t hink the nice weather brings people to this place because it's not all that fancy and certainly nothing to brag about. What is great however is the food for the price. I had a grilled chicken salad and it came with SO MUCH FOOD... I couldn't finish it all and I was starving. Grilled white meat chicken, avocado, cucumbers, carrots, fresh lettuce, tomatoes and red onion. Delish and only $6.95! The salsa was just as fresh and tasty enough that I didn't need dressing on my salad, which in turn didn't destroy the 1000 calories I had just burned in the canyon! Yippeee! Aside from the weirdo fat dude who wanted to discuss politics while the husband was getting salsa, this place is pretty great.

  • Sara S.

First time and last time I have been here was tonight. Minus 4 stars For the rude staff and lack of customer service. Dirty looks for ordering my food the way I like it due to dietary reasons. Salsa not being fresh and tasting quite warm instead of being chilled on ice. Gross bathrooms and no place to change a baby. Red necks sitting on the patios, drinking their margaritas and smoking up a storm less than 10 feet away from the restaurant. If you want to sit on the patio, hope you enjoy your food covered in cigarette ashes. Had to take my food and leave. Got a burrito and it was okay. I've had better.

  • Lynne H.

Sit outside under breezy umbrellas and enjoy fresh, Mexican grill, great Margaritas and beer. I love the Chicken Fajitas, Tostadas or Chicken Caesar salads. Never been disappointed. The staff is also exceptionally sweet and the service is quick for the amount of people they serve.

  • Randi M.

I've only eaten here for Taco Tuesday since the pickings for TT are slim in Santa Clarita. The tacos are good. I like the chicken, its white meat and not too dry. They are pretty basic, just street tacos with white onion and cilantro on 2 corn tortillas For 1.00 each, you could do worse. . I usually get a side of rice and its 99cents. They only serve pepsi products so we usually take our tacos over to Hamburer Habit grill and get a coke.

I came here tonight with Yelp buds Tai and Ted B. and family - and realized what a great place this is for some food and fun! Alamo is located in a strip mall next to The Habit, and from the outside appears to be a casual food place. But when you walk in, the extensive Mexican menu is super reasonably priced and lists burritos, nachos, tacos, enchiladas, etc. - and rotisserie chicken! The refillable sodas and serve yourself salsa bar make it easy to get things exactly the way you like it. They also serve beer and margaritas, and has an outside patio with heaters for year-long patio dining and relaxing. It was on this patio where we all sat, waited for them to call our order number, and then ate and drank and had a lot of fun! For a faster-food-y looking place, their rotisserie chicken was SERIOUSLY impressive. Not overly salty, the moist white meat (even when I got the last 1/4 of the evening!) had nicely seasoned skin and was served with rice, beans, salad and tortillas. My super healthy, no-carb dinner (because I ate just the salad and chicken) was about $8. If this place were in MY hood, I'd be here all the time! Maybe Tai and Ted and the family will adopt me, so I can come here with them more often : P.

One of those place I've passed a million times but never tried it until I got a 25 Score card and saw it was on the list and wanted some grub while waiting for car to get fixed over at Nostalgic Creations. Is this a BBQ joint, a Taqueria or a local El Pollo Loco? Turns out, all of them. Their main thing is rotisserie bird and that's what I stuck with although I almost did the Taco Tuesday specials instead. Chicken is good and crisp. Dark meat very juicy but the white meat was definitely on the dry side. Beans and Rice were good, standard issue sides. 3 flour (or corn) tortillas were served extremely hot in Saran Wrap and you better eat them immediately because they will get hard very, very fast. Salsa bar was nice to see and the various salsas were good. Surprised they didn't give me any Tortilla Chips (Corn Chips as they describe it?) with my order. Yep, they're extra. They also do beer and stronger alcoholic drinks. Lots of frozen drinks too. Would've had a frozen margarita but it was just way too early in the day to do that. Staff is a bit on the rude side. Not tremendously but not the best. One of the guys seemed like a bit of a hot head but he held it back a little. Which he should. Got to please the customers, of course. Print/Take Out menus must be six years old. The prices were wrong (and lower) and there were plenty of spelling errors. Especially if you want a Maragarita. Yes, that's how the spelled it in one prominent spot on the menu. Fix some of these problems and that fourth star i was planning to give I'll put up in an update. Place must be popular. When I left there were definitely a line of people waiting to order. Maybe because it was Taco Tuesday or maybe people just like the place. Definitely a good place but there's issues to correct with the chicken quality and that outdated print menu.

    (3)
  • David P.

Call it two-and-a-half stars. The food here is decent and the prices are pretty reasonable. The staff is downright sullen and shockingly, unapologetically incompetent. The place IS popular, probably because of the lively patio combined with margaritas. The interior is dreary.

    (2)
  • M M.

Chicken was dried out and out of 6 orders 5 had to go back. The second round of food was worse than the first. Not sure what the hype is about the place...maybe because they serve alcohol and people drink too much to care what the food tastes like!!! If I could give the place 0 stars I would!!!

    (1)
  • Kurt S.

The Alabro. A Santa Clarita staple. Food is marginal, it is whatever. The real kicker / the only reason to come here, is to get pitchers of margaritas. 13-15 bucks or something for a pitcher. The margaritas are not weak. They will do their job. You get like 4 large glasses from the pitcher. If you need somewhere to pregame, or somewhere to drink in public, this has a very nice option for you. If you want good mexican food, there are better places. I give this 3 stars because you can not rate something any higher simply for offering strong margaritas. Food isn't TERRIBLE, just nothing to write home about. In fact, if they didn't have their margaritas, I would probably rate it with 2 stars.

Nice little Local Mexican Restaurant. Nothing spectacular but very good for the price.

Mmm Orange Bang. It really disappoints me when casual Mexican restaurants/fast food places don't have Orange Bang (*ahem Rigoberto's in Fullerton)! Thankfully the Alamo has it. Okay, now for the serious stuff: FOOD! My absolute favorite thing here is their nachos. They use a different salsa in the nachos that isn't available at the salsa bar, and it is GOOD. Good quality and amount of cheese, salsa, beans, jalapenos, and guac, BUT they don't put enough chips for all of that delicious topping. Thankfully I had my chimichanga to use the leftover beans/salsa/cheese mixture on. The chimichanga is decent, but could be amazing with some improvements. I could really use some rice or cheese in there since it's just beans and whatever meat you ask for (I got shredded beef). Positives: It's fried perfectly so that it isn't too greasy and it's nice and crispy. It is pretty big too. Their chicken quesadillas are good as well. I guess they use a rotisserie for their chicken since the sign says they're a rotisserie, but it seems grilled to me. Either way, the quesadillas are huge and they don't skimp on the meat you ask for. Some places put a ton of cheese and NO meat, but here, they give you a ton of meat.

The Alamo is my new favorite restaurant! I have lived in this area for two years and recently discovered this gem in the last year. The service is quick and prices are extremely reasonable for the feast you can achieve at this place!!! There is nothing bad about this place, never been to any place that makes such a phenomenal chicken quesidilla and the chips are even better than anywhere else!! I won't be going anywhere but Alamo for tacos from now on!

    (5)
  • Dustin P.

I love this place. Delicious Food and Margaritas that are probably the best in Santa Clarita!!!!! The staff is very helpful in choosing what fits your liking on the Menu and I must say that they have a plethora of many Mexican dishes. Not to mention they have "Taco Tuesdays" every Tuesday with your choice of either Carnitas, Steak, or Chicken Tacos. Soooooo Good. This place does not disappoint.

    (5)
  • Dave S.

I ate here for the first time in a year or so, hoping to find some changes for the better. I was greeted by the usual white trash crowd, including all the leather-faced, 50-something smokers who dress and act like they're 20-something. Nothing new there. Unfortunately, I had the displeasure of sitting next to the younger, punk-ass table who felt it necessary to play their own personal music loud enough for the whole restaurant to hear. They did so without so much as a peep from management. This place does not serve anything special enough for me to put up with this kind of riff raff.

    (1)
  • Charles O.

Rotisserie in name and yet they have no rotisserie chicken...wtf...girl confused on the special too when I asked here back in Sep of 2011...lol. I ordered tacos and they were ok. Comprable to a taco truck but double the price. You need to know your menu first off. Second, change your name or add chicken. That is why I yelped you and went out of my way for just to be misled.

    (2)
  • Jessika M.

I love this place! The staff is really great, and the food tasty. My personal favorite is the beef taco! When I'm in town visiting family, I come here at least once every two days!

  • Danny A.

The best part of this place is the outdoor patio you can eat outside with a few drinks and enjoy a nice day. Food is mediocre, service is mediocre, and pretty much a mediocre place. I would never come if not for the outdoor patio which we meet up with friends and have drinks.

  • Roy K.

I came here once because there are very few places to eat in Valencia, and this place seems to always be crowded so I decided to give it a shot. Conclusion: Valencia still has very few places to eat. It's a Mexican restaurant, but it's an Americanized version of Americanized Mexican food. That double Americanized just translates to flavorless, non-spicy, over-salted chicken based dishes. I would just throw this place in with the crowded arena of Mexican food gone wrong including Chipotle, Baja Fresh, Poquito Mas, etc... If you want good Mexican in Valencia there is a place on Lyons ave. I don't recall the name, but that place is actually quite good. No need to come to this restaurant ever.

It was a nice sunny spring day and I found myself at Alamo with my family and some family friends upon their recommendation. A LOT of food for a great price. While it may not seem authentically Mexican--they do offer rotisserie chicken--that does not detract from its deliciousness. I ordered a burrito, which surprised me with its size. Comparable to Chipotle burritos with a more authentic taste. It was delicious and left me satisfied with the bucks I spent. The chips are also very good--not too salty yet with a good amount of flavor even without salsa. I would stay away from the vended horchata and orange drink from Ole. Too sweet and a tad unnatural. A great place for some cheaper food that will fill you up. There is a patio that is great for warm days when you want to relax in the company of friends. I'd definitely come again to try other things on their menu.

  • Jessica M.

My boyfriend & I love coming here after a long day at work, before going home. i suggest sitting on the patio while enjoying a couple tacos (we've tried the chicken, carnitas & carne asada - all super moist & yummy) & cervezas. I love that they have Shock Top on draft...

  • Tai F.

I've spent many a summer evening on the patio of this hole-in-the wall mexican restaurant. It's a cheap place to relax, drink some margaritas and eat a burrito. My favorite is their 99 cent bean and cheese burrito special. It's so good, so cheap and perfect. They do charge extra for silly things like sides of sour cream or guacamole (but they come with most plates anyway). Some of their food (especially the quesadillas) can get a little too greasy. I love the Alamo and so does most of Santa Clarita so you should try to come early if you really want to grab a table. Or you can bring a picnic blanket and relax on the adjacent grass. But whatever you do, come.

They have been in our valley for about a dozen years+. I remember when they were on Soledad in a shopping center with Kaiser Permamente being on the other side. I love the fact you can get eggs all day long and the ranchero sauce is great. Prices are reasonable. They take the SCORE card too (so if you have it, use it). Their roast chicken is excellent. My only quibble is with the margaritas. Somebody should go to bartender school. They normally have the TV's on (non-english) on a sport channel. It is a great place to relax next to the Habit. And, on a warm summer evening, you can have chips and salsa and drinks outside. P.S. Don't miss their $1 tacos. I like. One recommendation to staff: keep the spicy carrots and jalapeno sauce regularly stocked. They seem to forget the condiment section exists when the store is busy.

The first time I tried this place I liked it. DISCLAIMER (It had been years since I had lived in CA and had real mex food.) After I bragged about it to my husband, I took him there and it was really bad. Greasy bland food. We will not try it again.

OH MY YUM!!!!! I didn't have high expectations going in but I walked out very impressed! This place had great food and taco tuesday is a great deal. We will be going back here at least a few times a month from now on. YUM YUM YUM.

This place has the best beef nachos! I ordered small beef nachos and boy, they hook u up! The beef is tender n seasoned well. They are yummy. I am not a big fan of their enchiladas and their rice, could be better. I give four stars to the nachos only. Food, 3 stars!

  • Travis H.

This is the most organic and relaxing patio in Santa Clarita when the Barbed Wire Tattooed 21 year olds are still in class at COC. When they get out of class, you need to get out of here. The patio turns into kegger night at Billy Bob's, complete with sideways trucker hats, lifted F150s, and an unofficial "who can curse the most" contest. Food is very good for the price - the 99 cent bean and cheese rocks!. Shredded beef tacos are always juicy and the salsa is cosistently good. The inside is kind of boring and a little uncomfortable. Great place for a warm weather day-time Corona or margarita.

I was very suprised to see that this place only had one review. When I lived in Valencia, this place always drew a huge crowd. The Alamo is very small, but holds a special place is my heart. I admit the food is not fantastic, but It is really really good and I have a nostalgic moment when I think about it. When I was little I would get burritos here after swimming at the public pool nearby. It was a treat. There use to be a Carvel Ice Cream where the Habit now resides. The best summer night was dinner at Alamo and dessert next door.

This place is a gold star favorite in Santa Clarita. They are packed on the weekend. Great food, Great portions, Fast service, good drinks. nothing fancy to look at but great content. One of the favorites that honor the 25Score card.

The beans in the tostadas were watery, the guacamole had no flavor....halfway through the meal I almost hurled....never again

margaritas and a patio. What more could you ask for. Four stars for decent food at decent prices and pitchers.

This place is really fun to bring friends for a pitcher of beer and some mexican food. It has outdoor seating, or indoor with TVs. The service is fast, and the staff is super friendly. The food is decent, but that's hardly why you come to the Alamo. They have $10 pitchers of beer, which comes with free chips and salsa. The plates are about $5 each, so you can really have a great time without breaking your wallet. This is important to know if you live in Santa Clarita -- there's a real lack of cheap fun in this place! Enjoy!

Agreed - minus 5 stars. "Normal" people - no need to waste your time. If you're inconsiderate of others and like alcohol, this is the place for you.

man the food is so good i dont even have to get the top shelf items i go straight for the 99 cent tacos and burritos. i like to sit on the patio and blow heaters while catchin a generous buzz off the stiff margaritas. anytime my old ladys outta town i get blacked out over here or down at the valley ball

hole in the wall tex-mex in the Grannery Square shopping center, just off McBean the food is alright - ok taco's, decent nacho's, chicken / carnitas / asada plates, good enchilada's, etc... just nothing to write home about... and as casual as you can get usually end up there in the summertime, evenings after a day by the pool or at the beach, grab a couple pitchers of margaritas and share some nachos with friends watching the SCV scenery go by

went here for a quick meal while on my lunch. just wanted to get something small so i decided to gets a kids meal. the burger was a lot bigger than expected, and the serving of the fries definately didn't seem like a kids meal size. it was a real meal! and for under 4 bucks it was a great buy. i'm a fan!

So this has been my stomping grounds since I first learned how to ride a bike! Alamo is a really great spot to grab a few pitchers and do some people watching with friends. The food I would give 3 stars, put the outdoor atmosphere for hanging out with everyone I would give a 5. The drinks are strong and the burritos are huge! Whatever you do don't sit inside because you will be disappointed. So grab a few of your best friends and we'll see ya there!

Visiting a friend in Santa Clarita. Stopped by "The Alamo" restaurant. Totally recommend this place. I had the rotisserie chicken, with black beans and corn tortillas. The menu has quite a variety of items, but kept to my healthy choices. So if your ever in Santa Clarita, stop by this place. OH!!! Plus full bar, you can have a margarita with your good food.

Went here and my wife asked for a pitcher of margaritas with Cazadores tequila. They charged her $36.00. She told the "manager" that she was charged less before. He snapped stating, "How the hell are we supposed to make a profit?" She pointed out that she wasn't complaining, but merely pointing out the discrepancy. He responded by stating, "Well they probably just added water!" She asked to speak with the manager and he stated he was the manager. He also said his name was Casey. This is how you treat people??? I will remember The Alamo and never go there again. Zero stars if it were possible. Great start to a friend's birthday. Thanks.

They will always screw up your order. The employees have very low IQs. The food really isn't any good unless you've had a pitcher or two of Cadillac margaritas. A number of years ago my wife and I BOTH got unreal food poisoning after eating there. Called the health department and they cited them for a number of things. The one thing I remember was their ice machine literally had bacterial sludge in the bottom. Disgusting. Since I stopped drinking a couple years ago I haven't been back. Anytime we are thinking of a place to eat we always say no way to Alamo cause it's only good for the booze. The really funny part is my wife WORKED there when she was 16-17 years old. lol. She knows first hand how they are filthy. Don't eat there. Just drink the booze. It's all for the booze and patio.

I am beyond disappointed! I have been going to the Alamo for 30+ years and always loved the food. Unfortunately the last 3 times my cheese enchiladas have been uncooked. Tonight I ordered them again and asked for all rice. I was given my food on a paper plate. The person preparing it had obviously put beans on my plate and then scraped it off and put rice over it. My cheese inside the enchiladas was raw. I took my plate back up to the counter and pointed out the raw cheese. He took the plate back to the kitchen. I walked around the side so I could see into the kitchen, to my shock it was filthy and the guy with no gloves on stuck my paper plate into the microwave. He then transferred it to the oven? A paper plate in the oven you've got to be kidding me??? I immediately went back to the cashier and asked for my money back, out of the $12 I paid I was given 8 dollars and $.75 apparently I still had to pay for my overpriced soda. It is clear to me that this place makes their money off selling margaritas to all the people sitting on the patio rather than food. So sad to say I will never return!

One star is for Manager's customer service. I called in my order including an order of chips & salsa. When I got there to pick up, Manager opened bag to show all items were there, with the chips in a bag on top. I asked about the salsa. He said, "get it from the bar behind you". I asked for a small styro cup for it and he answered "for $3.00"! I was just trying to avoid filing up 4 or 5 of the tiny salsa cups provided at the salsa bar. After filling up a few cups with salsa, I asked for a small bag for them. To which his response was, "I can charge you .10 cents for that if I wanted to, nothing is free here"! Needless to say, The Alamo will no longer be an option when I'm craving Mexican food.

Cool spot just very small. They did have a patio where you could drink outside. The only downfall again is that it's a pretty small. On the plus side the margaritas will definitely get you where you need to go.

Alamo is a great place to get a quick bite to eat for under $10. The burritos are massive, taquitos are soft and unique, the hard shell tacos looked amazing, and the salsa bar is impressive. Tortilla chips are available to purchase for $1, which I really think should be free. Seating is plentiful both indoor and outdoors. It's dog friendly outside and just an overall good atmosphere. It's a tad bit disorganized inside... there's no real line, you just kind of have to remember who walked in when... people are generally pretty relaxed and don't mind if you go in front of them or whatever, but it's just a little strange that they have no order... it's a little inconsistent. I saw the people coming around serving food to customers seated outside, but the customers seated inside just had a number called. If you're coming to the Alamo for a bite you don't have to get dressed up, it's super casual. Tips: Make a day out of it.. after lunch goto Ralph's next door for grocery shopping or pick up necessary items at CVS also in the same shopping center. Parking is everywhere, but be cautious because there are lots of pedestrians mostly families with young kids darting around, and kind of awkward that there's no side walk.

The food is of low caliber and seriously lacking in seasoning. They don't offer any interesting flavor profiles, just substandard generic food. Apparently they are only popular because of their cheap margaritas. Our food was so unpalatable that we didn't finish it and threw it out. We won't be returning.

Tried them again!! Shame on me! They made a myriad of mistakes, not only on my order, but others in line in front of me and behind. The owner kept complaining that it's too busy; if you can't handle it then get out of the business and Santa Clarita...

The food is okay and the prices are about average but the people working there are not very smart and they tend to screw up orders quite often. Just in the time I was waiting for them to fix my order, two other people came up to complain that their orders had been messed up. What really pisses me off is I got mine to go and made the mistake of assuming people who took and filled food orders FOR A LIVING could get it right! I had to drive all the way back to pick up correct order. They were not apologetic for screwing things up at all. The guy looked at me like, "oh yeah... We screw up everyone's order so take a seat and wait for us to fix it like everyone else does." A simple, "sorry about that sir" would go a long way you stupid a**holes!!!

Tacos (chicken or steak), chips and salsa, and pitchers of Margaritas.....enough said! Best spot in the SCV for casual Mexican food and drinks.

I never write bad reviews, but I was so irritated today by the poor attitude of the staff to the customers that I came home and read what others were saying about the place. It's clear that others had the same bad experience. When I walk into a restaurant, I expect the person behind the counter to actually acknowledge my presence instead of continuing her personal conversation with a co-worker. When they stopped talking, she turned her back on us for a few more minutes, just to show how little she cared. When we got started with the order and had questions, she seemed annoyed, answered curtly. Not helpful at all. I do admit that the food IS GOOD, but lots of places have good food. Go somewhere else !!! Go somewhere with good food and where the staff acts like they care about you and what they are doing. Yes; you CAN have both.

I work in the area couple times a week. I've visited this place a couple times. I've tried a Wet Burrito, delicious, Tortas are always awesome. Had two Shrimp tacos that was amazing! Carne Asda tacos, tasty, Carnitas tacos awesome, and pollo always great! So far I haven't been disappointed with the food, ever. Friendly staff, great indoor seating, little window bar view and great patio seating! They also have Alcohol. What else can you ask for!

Understaffed and disorganized. Bills themselves as a rotisserie chicken place and were out of chicken when I went. Never had the food but the service was poor.

The food is outstanding! Shrimp tacos a la carte is my standard fare here. Best Bloody Mary I have ever had... And I have had some good ones. Only problem with this place is its hard to hear your number over their loudspeaker. Hardly a real problem though. Go... Now... Eat..

This is a review for the food n not the ambiance. I came to pick up an order. This place always has ppl out side hanging out n relaxing so thought to try it out. Now i know ppl come here to socialize, drink and be outdoors rather than to have a good meal. I ordered burritos de asada. These were "meh". Meat had no flavor. I asked w everything n didn't even come w hot sauce. Guess I need to go to Newhall or the San Fernando Valley to get real Mexican food.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
