Came in a half hour before closing and the place was dead empty. The staff was mopping and obviously setting up to close. Most places you would expect that they'd not be too happy to see you walk in. Not this place. Same awesome food. Same awesome service. Same reasonable prices. Spires Tustin is the best.

I have been going to this location for more years than I care to remember and they have never failed to please. Last night I had Liver and Onions. Rarely do I find a chef that can cook it to my satisfaction, but last night for dinner it was perfect. With the meal comes soup AND salad, your choice of potatoes as well as bread, and of course a large portion of liver and onions. This is all topped off with a dessert of your choice. All for $7.49. And incase I failed to mention, their portions are huge. As for the service there is nothing bad to say. Your order is taken, substitution requests are always honored with a smile. And for the part I like most, it seems like when I am out to eat servers always seem to ask how things are right when you have a mouth full of food. Not here. Instead they will walk by the table allowing you to request anything should you want to. If I had anything negative to say about the restaurant, it would be to get rid of the claw machine located by the entrance. It's obvious that the claws are adjusted too loose and even though the claw completely wraps around the toy, will slide off. Knowing the scam, my wife is so obsessed with the darn thing, she'll drop 5 or 6 bucks in the game after we eat every time we visit. I was thinking about somehow sneaking an out of order sign on it. LOL! Your Official Yelp Fanatic signing out. Gary

So how do you review this type of establishment? It's just a neighborhood coffee shop style of restaurant. It's old and can use some updating. Every day has it's Daily Special. The patrons are all regulars and come because it's near home. Oh but no. This place is so much more than that! I, too, have fallen into the trap of being a regular. You can find me here on Saturday mornings and often one night for dinner. This family owned and operated restaurant has pure heart in it's employees. I have never seen people work so hard but still manage to stop by, pat you on the back and wish you a wonderful day. The food is great. The Fried Chicken Monday's have become the weekly favorite with the restaurant being full with seniors early and families coming after 5:30. The breakfasts include numerous omelets, biscuits and gravy, waffles and of course the "Daily Specials" of eggs Florentine or Benedict. The Daily Specials are unbelievably huge with soup, salad, entree and dessert. Sometimes tried and true wins out. After a life of working hard and surprising hardships it's always nice to go where everything is predictable and always good.

This place is awesome. Ok so every day there's a different deal. Yeah, diff daily deal, can't beat that I went here on a Friday. Got the steak. Only freaking $9.99!!! You honestly can't beat that price anywhere. The pros: a ton of food. You get the soup to start off on. I got the clam chowder. Yummy. Then I got the salad with Italian dressing. Nothing special but pretty good. Then I got the steak. Yeah it was good for $10! Last we got ice cream. Tons of diff flavors but I opted for the sorbet. Anyway all that for $10!! The only thing that might make the younger crowd uncomfortable is that this place mainly caters to seniors. Everyone here was 55+. I was the only person in their 20s. Eh doesn't bother me though. Food is still worth it. I prefer this place over breakfast at Denny's and IHOP anyday of the week!! Go go go! Eat and get that epic meal for $10!

  • Mari P.

The breakfast here is amazing and taste homemade and fresh. I do get my waffles, pancakes, and toast cooked "light" because they have come out too well done in the past. The bacon, syrup, and butter here is also freakishly good. Lol.

Whoa, talk about a 1960's diner with 1960's pricing. Dawn M. and I came in for lunch today and were pleasantly surprised. Spires is a no-frills diner that gives you bang for your buck. Yeah, the interior is outdated and a little depressing. Yeah, the average age is 65. But I came here to eat a hearty meal, so let's get to it. Chicken Gumbo Soup (big bowl) Top Sirloin Steak w/ Baked Potato & Veggies (*Sunday Special*) Garlic Bread French Toast Breakfast Combo Spumoni Ice Cream ....$16.14 The Chicken Gumbo was creamy and similar to clam chowder. Lots of chicken and large enough for two people to split. The Top Sirloin Steak was juicy and had to be about 12 ounces - NICE! Didn't have any of the French Toast Breakfast, but Dawn M. said it was "fluffy and delicious." The veggies and garlic bread were alright. The Spumoni was tasty. Service was great. The soup came out within seconds and the rest of the meal followed within 10 minutes. Our waitress was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Spires is definitely a step up from Denny's, IHOP, and/or Norms. I can see myself being a regular.

"I like the food...I like the prices..." Its not the belle of the ball, but the decor and ambiance gives the place a real relaxing, and comfortable environment to enjoy your meal. Breakfast is quick, delicious and cheap, and your cup whether it be coffee or plain h20 is always full. The service from the friendly and attentive staff is outstanding. Thanks guys!

Norman Rockwell paintings, decor from the 60's and just plane simple good diner food and prices. Daily specials come with soup AND salad, dinner roll and desert.

  • Richard T.

I really like this place. Spires looks and feels like a diner from the 60's. The food is good and fair prices. What else can you ask for. I usually eat breakfast once or twice a week. I notice a lot of regulars that come here. The staff is always family and the prices are decent. Food comes out quickly, hot and the portions are great. I usually get the #4; two eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast. Coffee is good for a diner. Much better than large chains like IHOP or Denny's where everything is portion controlled.

My kids brought me to Spires for Father's Day breakfast. I had the eggs Benedict, they were wonderful! Thick slices of ham steak and a very delicious hollandaise sauce. Really enjoyed myself. As always, Jerry gave wonderful service. He never disappoints! Thank you Jerry and thank you Spires as always, Thank you Jerry and thank you Spires for a great start to my Fathers Day!

I've been coming here for over 20 years now and I love it. Not the highest quality, but the servers and other staff are friendly and attentive, food is at a GREAT price, and they serve breakfast all day, although I'm partial to the spaghetti- no meatballs- even my dog won't eat those- a salad with their bleu cheese dressing and a side of cheese bread (not on the menu anymore- but you can ask for it- trust me you'll love it!). Simple food and way better than larger chains like Norm's, Denny's or IHOP. Check out their daily specials for only around $10 and for seniors this is a great stop with discounted rates- and I'll admit I'm probably one of their youngest patrons haha!

Best Chicken fried steak. not very expensive. Older generation but very nice for family, get together, or hangout.

My brother, mother and I came in one day after I worked (I work in the shopping center) and decided to have family dine-in time. The lady who assisted us was nice. The manager is also very nice. I ordered the Chicken Breast Sandwich. The breast was PERFECTLY cooked and the BBQ sause was just right. The melt jack cheese was incredible. I literally had no complaints about the food, service, or area. I highly recommend you come in and try it. Way better than a fast food burger. Extremely authentic and handled with care. Spires is also better than Norms or IHop. Happy Belly = Happy Me !

  • Julie K.

I love old school diners and blue-haired frequented restaurants. With that being said, Spires is definitely a place to go only if you're looking for absolutely zero ambiance, no adult beverages, but just basic comfort food at very reasonable prices. On my recent (and first) visit, I had a beef dip w/ onion rings and a diet Coke. The beef dip could've used some horseradish but it was a decent enough dip and the onion rings were satisfying. There were a number of caretakers having dinner w/ their charges, some walkers being pushed about, and one oxygen tank. Just trying to give y'all an idea of what the atmosphere was like... Service was friendly and efficient. But I honestly don't know if I would come back. I am curious to try their other menu items though...

My favorite Breakfast spot!!! I've been here half a dozen times for breakfast. They have great prices and the wait staff is attentive and nice! I always sit at the counter and love the experience. They are really on top of keeping my coffee cup filled and I really like that. I highly recommend the place. I've never tried lunch or dinner, but I've heard good things about it. Will be checking that out soon!

I love this restaurant. The food...the people...the service...feels like home..family. I ordered Steak and eggs today and when they over cooked my steak, they took care of that immediately. We love it here.

  • Tristan T.

I can say that my first time at Spires was a great one! We came for the Saturday special of a 12$ New York Steak. Of course, that price is a little cheap, so I was slightly skeptical. I was starving, though, so I didn't care. Upon arrival, our hostess was attentive and ready to seat us, menus in hand. Our waiter took our orders kindly and food came out quickly. Our food was definitely above my expectations and the portions were huge. For 12$, I would expect half of the food that they offered. Food was delicious, service was great, and portions were huge. Smiles all around make a positive experience.

I stopped here for breakfast and I order the special of the day country breakfast, the place looks good like family restaurant and service is good and lots of parking space.

  • Freshta M.

This spot is a great place to have breakfast! tasty and affordable. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because its really old! there are holes in some of the booths and the bathrooms are gloomy looking.... The service was great! I am def coming back sometime when I am in the area again!

    (4)
  • Tom W.

Solid. Pros: Good breakfast Good portions Decent prices Nice service Waits if there is one is not bad Cons: Outdated decor (but we went for the food anyways)

    (4)
  • Monica Z.

Top notch breakfast spot served all day. Their biscuits and gravy are really good here, love their gravy! If you get the country skillet it also comes with bacon, eggs, potatoes and toast. Breakfast of champions! Also came here for their special of the night, steak dinner with all the fixin's for $9.99 on Friday night. The service is attentive and their servers are so nice. The restaurant is a bit outdated, but that just adds to the charm. Most of their clientele consists of senior citizens, they get a discount on most menu items.

  • Damon F.

Had their salad twice, and it still the lettuce wasnt clean. Horrible customer service.

  • Faye F.

Aaahhhh... finally found a breakfast place other than IHOP! Lol! But definitely waaaaaay better! Good food and big servings. But I only gave it 4 stars because there was a wait and then we had to "look" for our waiter. We would definitely be coming back!

Have been eating at this Spires for over 15 years and over that time it has continually improved. The manager, Robert can be seen helping with orders, cleaning windows, clearing the tables, cooking and, of course, manning the cash register. He is open to suggestions and if not too busy will stop and chat. The servers remember your name and your food preferences. The portions are ample and prices moderate.

  • Stevie W.

I love spires for what it is..an old school diner that reminds me of an old diner that I use to eat at as a kid. Everyone is so friendly. The staff makes you feel like family. The decor is 70's-80's but its clean inside. Of course when you come here expect many senior citizens. I still love it.

So very disappointed.....the last review I left was 5 stars the service and food was on point. Came here again with my husband and father inlaw for dinner around 8 and everything started out great the server had no personality and seemed like a robot which is what my husband said. Anyways, after we ordered our meals the soup and salad was brought out right away and was very fresh and very delicious about 45 minutes after that is when we actually received our meal the place was empty and literally nobody in the place why it took so long I have no idea.... Anyways I ordered the chicken and fried shrimp and the chicken was horrible it was slimy I had to send it back and my husband ordered a steak sandwich and it only came with one piece of bread I have never seen that before if I wanted steak with bread I would have just ordered a steak dinner with the garlic toast..... Our server was extremely slow and extremely robotic and not friendly at all as a server should be..... The last time we came here we had a female server and it was during lunch time and she was amazing I've never been here for dinner and I will never be back.... When my father inlaw went to go pay the bill he told him "I'll be right with you buddy" not the right word to use with a 77 year old man he was very offended and so was husband.

Robert, the manager, does such a great job. I didn't even know he was the manager at first because he was serving and greeting all the customers. The rest of the servers are also very friendly and are great with kids. The good was delicious and I'm looking forward to coming back for lunch next time. Thanks for a great meal Spires!

Went here new years day. They weren't busy and the guy that took our order "Tam" was rude and unhelpful do to lack of knowledge of the menu. He told us it would be ten minutes. 45 minutes later, when we asked were our food was they started boxing food that looked like it had been in the window all morning . This place was very unorganized and poorly managed. Two of the female servers that ended up helping us were very nice and worked hard to figure out what had happened to our order while Tam just walked around and didn't try to help at all.

The service is always on point. The staff is always smiling and pleasant. Roberto is awesome. The food is regular chain-sit down food. I go for the swiftness and service.

  • Eric M.

They don't have the chef's special pricing anymore but no one told me. The attitude was less than complimentary and when I told the young Latino dude I wouldn't be back he said, "thank you". Mouth the word "fondue" jerk!

  • Audra R.

Well its official, I can cross spires off of my bucket list, whew, what a relief. Not as bad as the place looks... Scratching my head why Anita L. gave this a pleasant 4 star review, usually she is spot on, must've been real hungry. Omelet was good, and not greasy at all. Potatoes looked good but had a fake grease aftertaste. Small uninspiring breakfast menu. Didnt think it was so cheap? 2 omelets, 1 coffee $21? It shouldn't be any more than that for sure! Wont be returning.

Love this place the people here are really nice I love coming back and I always ask for ROSA best waitress EVER !!!she definitely makes me feel like I'm being spoiled by my mom she seems try to get to know her customers one on one and is super sweet. The place is a little retro but I love finding spots that no one thinks to try. The food is soooo delicious best place for breakfast highly recommend the corn beef and hash

My boyfriend and I come here for dinner and it was a great service and the waiter was very nice. I order a salad, and my boyfriend order a ribeye steak for dinner. The order was quick, and our dinner got serve really quickly, and they are not low on drinks either, before we even finish our first drink the second one already out, and it keep refilling until we told our waiter we had enough. I will and would recomend to anyone that want to come to Spires, this is a good place for kids, family or get together as a group. Yeah way to go Spires

  • Tanya N.

This place is so good! They seriously have the absolute best service! They are more like a family restaurant type place, but there prices are pretty cheap and the food is good! I go here all the time with my family.

Did you see the gas prices this week? $4.69 a gallon- are you kidding me? That made me re-think my breakfast choices and so I kept myself local in Tustin and ate at Spires. Sunday morning around 8:30 AM is perfect because it's right before church lets out and you actually can get a table. My menu choice: two eggs and ham breakfast with country potatoes, sourdough toast and coffee. It was perfect and they were unbelievably fast, too. And when I asked for non-daily creamer for my coffee, they had it. Yeah! My son had the lumberjack breakfast which was similar to mine but also included a sausage link and homemade waffle. Their menu really has something for everyone. This place has been around for a while, but it appears they care because everything was clean and kept up. Even though we sat directly across from the kitchen, the restaurant didn't have that old greasy smell like some do. So to recap: fast friendly service. Easy parking. Breakfast for two: $20 and free wifi to boot!

good food for a great price! I come here with my friend to get their daily specials. Boy is it a lot of food! First they hit you with the soup, then again with a salad. You think you are full by now?? There's way more.. Afterwards your main course comes along with a side AND a two pieces of garlic bread! Afterwards, you get dessert as well!! All for less than 7-8 dollars!!! What a deal! Food is not half decent as well. Definitely worth it to go here!

Under rated place to eat. Great service, great food, most importantly great price. If your looking to go to a Denny's or IHOP. Come here first.

  • Tanda M.

Had brunch here on New Years Day. Not bad. VERY VERY nice customer service! First time here and was impressed with that. The food was so-so. My eggs and turkey sausage patties were cold by the time they got to me and I had to request more butter for my waffle. By the time I got it, the waffle was almost cold. Waffle was pretty good. My fiancee's coffee was fresh. His "Southern breakfast" was not so great, but he ate it. Said the biscuits and gravy tasted like they were out of a box! Not the best food overall, but the prices and the customer service alone would keep me coming back just for some comfort-like food and a full belly.

AMERICA! Ya know, you learn a lot from the "elderly". They teach you life lessons, but more importantly, they know where and flock to all the cheap, amazing, comfort food eateries! This place is amazing! Came here with my friends before the Brothers of the Sun Tour (Hello, Tim McGraw & Jake Owen!) Yes, I'm "Asian" and listen to country/folk music. Anyway, the food here is so comforting and delicious. Very big servings. I love breakfast and they serve it all day! Yes! Love the french toast combo! It comes with your choice of eggs (scrambled please!), 4 slices of french toast and 4 slices of bacon!! So yummy! My friends both got the country breakfast. It came with biscuits and gravy, hash browns, your choice of eggs, 2 slices of bacon and a sausage link. Now, I know what you're thinking...you gals ate all of it?!? Hell yeah we did and we got ice cream afterwards at the Rite Aid next to it! OK, granted it was our only meal of the day... The atmosphere of this place is so quaint and cute. Has a very country feel. Reminds me of the scene in the movie Little Miss Sunshine where they stop by a diner. A la mode! The restaurant seems a bit run down, but it is very clean inside. Very small crowd and friendly staff. Great customer service. I like the shape of restaurant. Very reasonable pricing!

Feeling a little retro? Then check out Spires!! This is a great spot for a good, cheap breakfast! I've only been to this location once recently. The place is clean (altho rather dated). We had great food and really good, friendly service! I miss the location in Orange! Too bad they replaced it with that crappy new restaurant!!

  • Anne M.

I would definitely pick this place before Denny's, Coco's, Marie Calender's and other such generic spots. At least this place has a slight bit of character. The breakfast specials are good but are only valid until 11 am, not good for people who like to sleep. Otherwise, this place serves a decent meal for a decent price. I do really like their waffles which are thin, rather than the usual doughy Belgian style. Lots of daily dinner specials too. Not bad if you're in the area and want a decent meal for a good price.

this place is pretty solid... you can get a cup of soup, a pretty good sized salad, sirloin steak with mashed potatoes or baked potato or fries... AND dessert... for like $8.00 American... this is classic American fare... i mean... old school... down to all the senior citizens occupying all the tables on sunday afternoon... and im not hating cause these are the cool old people.. the ones that refuse to go quietly into the night... these people still drive themselves places.. bumpin' them andrews sista's and bing-mutha-luvin-crosby on the eight tracks in they buicks... and i kid you not... that sirloin is good... i mean... it aint mortons or lawrys... but hell... its EIGHT DOLLARS!!! you know what you get for $8 at mortons or lawrys? a shrimp tail cocktail... that you have to build yourself... out back behind the kitchen... while watching two homeless guys argue no homo cause they just tryin' to keep warm... this place could get four stars just on value alone... forget the fact that the servers are WAY better here than at the local dennys or ihop... i mean... seriously... today, the place was packed... i mean PACKED... and except for a minor overlooking of my daughters cesar salad... everything was brought out quick and prompt... and the salad came with two apologies... so yeah... i like it here... show up more than twice and they start to remember you too... but seriously... i was gonna give this place three stars, but the value and customer service just wouldnt allow me to... go here... pay your $8 and eat like a king...

Went for breakfast. Was only there once but didn't care for it. Was crowded. Don't know why. Food was below average in my opinion. Presentation was pretty bad too. Looked like cafeteria food that someone quickly threw on your plate. Don't know if we just got there on a bad day, but would not really recommend it. There are better options for the same price available.

I was craving some steak and wanted to try this place. I ordered a NY steak and eggs with hash browns. They cooked the steak perfectly. Very tender. It melted in my mouth. I was pleasantly surprised. My co worker had a country fried steak which was also yummy. This is my new steak spot!! Good prices, very spacious dining area, and good servers. He refilled the drink 3 times. Applause!

This is my Dad's favorite place to take the family. We'll almost always go to Spires for dinner, no other meal, and I've never had to wait for seating. The service is friendly and the prices are very reasonable - a lot of older people eat here for that very reason. Regardless, it's a good place to get some of the more typical American dishes: hamburgers, salads, chicken, fish, steak, etc.

I've become a Sunday morning regular at this place (usually sitting at the counter, so be sure to say hi). As far as breakfast goes, picture an upscale Denny's. Great food at a nice price. Servers are always super nice, and call the regulars by name. Always reminds me of being in a small town diner, but right here in the OC.

My father came back from his trip and just like a son, I had to take pick him up from LAX. After the long trip, he wanted to eat near his home. After yesterday's visit to Millie's Restaurant, he told me to drive over to his favorite restaurant in Tustin called Spires Restaurant. I have been to been Spires a couple times when I visited the area. The restaurant is shaped like an octagon. Sorry, no fighting here. Just good delicious food. We arrived around 2pm to a medium size crowd. A lot of senior citizens and customers who seemed to arrive from church. My father was very hungry. Just like my hiking buddy. Unfortunately for me, I was not that hungry. I lost 2.2lbs from the hike and I had to eat healthy. When our waiter arrived, my dad wanted to order food right away versus the drink. So, he got himself the Top Sirloin and Shrimp ($12.99) and a Coke with a soup de jour. I don't know what soup he ordered. I got my self the BBQ Chicken Salad ($8.99). I don't know what the drinks cost, but I wasn't paying. Perks of being an only child: You don't have to pay for much. While we were waiting, we utilized the Free Wi-Fi while we were waiting for our meals. Our server arrived with our food about 10-12 minutes later, but something was missing...The soup that my father ordered. He apologized and went back to get the soup. While he was about to get the soup, I asked for another refill. He forgot the refill when he came back and it was a minor wait. My BBQ Chicken Salad was excellent. I always order it and can never go wrong with it. My father was already chowing on his steak and shrimp. I guess airline food makes you SUPER hungry. By the time I was half done with my salad, my father was almost done with his food. I am bigger than my father, but GEEZ...he smoked me today. Spires is just like Millie's Restaurant in so many ways. I am not even sure which of the two is better. Unfortunately, Spires is mainly located in Orange County or south of Los Angeles. If Spires were to grow in San Fernando Valley, between Millie's and Spires, who would win? Well, in this economy, I wouldn't suggest opening a restaurant just yet. Yelp is My Review, My Story, and My Life. Its time to share it.

Awesome food, amazing service, and great prices. They give you an enormous amount of food but it's so good you just want to keep eating. The decor is a little outdated but that's not gonna stop me from coming here. And they serve breakfast all day!!! Can't go wrong with that! We just found ourselves a new spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner

This is a classic local joint. Good, hearty food for a good price! I can only speak to the breakfast menu (available all day!), but my hubs and I were happy with both our meals. I got the country skillet which has onions and peppers that were perfectly cooked (still firm, not limp and soaked in oil) with good flavor. Hubs got the lumberjack breakfast that whole it's big, it's also a manageable portion. They offer egg substitute or whites only. Avocado is all over the menu. Yummm! Clean, full of regulars, and definitely a place to add to a favorites list. Love these kinda of places!

Food, service, restaurant, and location are all OK... nothing great but not bad either. I had the waffle combo; one waffle, two strips of bacon and fresh fruit. The waffle was thin and very plain, the bacon was to be expected and the fruit was fresh and sweet. All in all just OK, not my first choice for breakfast but I won't go out of my way to avoid it either.

My Grandmother loved going to Spires when we were kids so I have a soft spot for this place even though its a different Spires...so glad to see there are some left! The food is on the blander side-not a lot of preservatives, which I like, not too spicy (I am assuming because their clientele is mostly older people it seems) Good food at a good price and the staff is super nice If you are looking for a low key dinner that won't give you heartburn, this is the place They have free wi fi which is awesome and a welcoming vibe I also like their breakfasts as they have a good little deal running and the sausage isn't that yucky cheap stuff Fun claw machines that you actually win from as well :) I would give it 5 stars, except it looks a little run down inside

Great service from the minute we walked in to the minute we left. Very nice attentive servers. Everyone was helping us. Very many booths. A tiny but outdated but the food prices compensate for that. Not many handicapped parking spots though. But I will be returning. Very conveniently close by our home. First time here and not our last.

This place is just AWESOME! AMAZING SERVICE, DELICIOUS & FLAVORFUL FOOD, with very reasonable prices! Way better than Denny's, Spires has daily specials like chicken fried steak, meatloaf dinners, break fast and lunch specials which usually will come with desert and coffee. Sooo Delicious and Flavorful, good place to bring family members, clients, guests, for SPIRES WILL MAKE A GOOD AND LASTING IMPRESSION!!!

Cheap prices, great food, fantastic customer service and grandma's & grandpa's. What more do you need?? Aside from wishing I could adopt every elderly person in the place, their food is great and totally reasonably priced. I must admit though, I've only had their breakfast--but I've been eating here for around 6 years now! My roommate and I used to eat here every weekend when we lived around the corner; now I try to visit at least once per month. They have amazing eggs benedict, if this is your style. They also have to die for homemade gravy atop their biscuits. I feel like I'm back at grannie's house, when she made gravy from scratch. They never let your coffee get below half of a cup. I'm sure their lunch and dinners are just as grand, but I highly recommend breakfast!

I love this restaurant! The food is scrumptious, and you can't beat the price. Everything I've eaten here has been delicious. My favorite items have been the grilled cheese (melt-in-your-mouth good), the Thursday broccoli cheddar soup, and the fettucini alfredo. Oh, and the chocolate pie!! Everyone who works here has been genuinely nice and personable, and I also feel very at home in the comfy, cozy atmosphere.

This place is freaking awesome! CHEAP PRICES TOO! I've been here multiple times with my girlfriend. We are always getting the deal of the day. Friday was the Top Sirloin ($7.99 for the meal which came with bacon, salad, etc), and Tuesday was the Chicken fried steak or something (came with mashed potatoes, gravy, dessert, soup, and salad). Regardless, both were delicious. They even have senior discounts! unfortunately I am not a senior and didn't get that 10% off. breakfast is served all day, yes that means the lumberjack, country style, etc etc all for cheap. It's better than IHOP and DENNYS HANDS DOWN. Anyway, the place is nice and clean, but somewhat old fashioned. Great service too. I'm going to be a regular...no doubt. cheap delicious food. FREAKIN GEM! Do yourself a favor and check this place out if you want freakin CHEAP delicious food that's better than DENNYS. PS. The place has FREE WIFI ;)

About 25 years ago, I came here and ordered the Beef Eater. Roast beef and cheese on toasted bread. Waitress suggest au jus with that like a French dip. I'm a fan and is about the only thing I have ever ordered ever since. Only reason I go there. My 4 stars is for the Beef Eater & service/staff. In the past years the portions have become smaller and the beef less quality and/or flavorful. As with most chains. I still like it and go there to get this and only this with french fries well done. I don't usually like fries. Had their onion rings a few times and no, no good. Went with a friend 3-4 times and she liked the wraps very much. Spires does cater to the senior crowd which is cool. Staff is always friendly and very attentive.

I love the Norman Rockwell art on the walls. This place brings back memory's of going out to eat with my grandpa when I was a kid and my first exposure to chicken fried steak. My kids love coming here and the staff are really friendly.

You definitely get a lot of food for the right price. The staff was very friendly and the food was very good. The crowd is definitely a bit older, and the dining room is a bit dated. But it's a good place to get that comfort food.

My absolute favorite diner spot. I love this place, it will always hold a special place in my heart, my grandparents use to take me here as a child. Best rice pudding here too! Great breakfast, and dinner specials.

I have not been into a Spires since my Norms days in my early 20s. It felt nostalgic cuz the furniture hasn't changed. Even the prices are cheap. Went with the lumberjack so I can try multiple items. I enjoyed the ham & sausage most. The pancake was slightly under cooked. Coffee is nice cuz the give you flavored creamer as well as half &half. Service was good. Overall I'll come back.

Great customer service! Everything was quick - from seating to ordering to food to the bill. I initially ordered the corned beef hash but they ran out. Not only did our waitress (name?) apologize but so did the manager (he even explained why). It worked out since I believe the corned beef hash was canned, not fresh. Ambiance: 70's style decorations and furniture. Needs updating but the place is homey, clean, and not cruddy or ratty. Food: home style potatoes were good! fresh red potatoes with onions and bell peppers. The eggs were cooked nicely and not drowned in butter or margarine like IHOP. Bacon was crispy, sausages were nicely browned, and the coffee was pretty darn good. My only disappointment was the pancakes - they were doughy as if under cooked and heavy. I prefer my pancakes to be lighter and fluffier. Price: very reasonable...most dishes are $10 or under. Breakfast for 2 plus coffee was $20. Quality of food + price + customer service = great deal! Overall I agree with other Yelpers, I would prefer coming here over places like IHOP, Denny's, and the like. Will be a repeat customer.

This is a greasy spoon kinda place and it's my favorite for breakfast! Warm and homey, my kids actually sit and eat ALL their food too. It's nice to walk in and get a friendly smile, as your seated multiple servers drop by and say hi. Yummy Country Breakfast (I crave the biscuits & gravy)! GOOD FOOD, GOOD SERVICE, GREAT VIBE!

Have a mug of jo. Take in the flavor of what was once the swankiest diner in town. And win a stuffed dragon from the claw machine on the way out! I visit Spires just to bring down the mean customer age from 91 years old. My 84-year-old ballroom dancing instructor Arturo brings down the mean age. Needless to say he'd feel welcome. Among his peers at Tustin's never-gonna-stop-serving-Salisbury-Steak-with-gravy headquarters. If indoor smoking were legal in California, I envision a perpetual fog at eye level. And beneath that lush canopy we'd take discourse in Tarantino inspired discussions of long con jobs, amid neighboring diatribes on obamacare and lactose.

Typical decent breakfast place with nice enough service. May I repeat TYPICAL -- it didn't blow things out the water to be truly memorable. Good enough, and I may still come here again if the occasion calls for it, but if I want a great restaurant, this would be similar to a Denny's. I guess the restaurant from the night before, in both food and experience, kicked it's butt.

Having been to Spires for many years. This location for 7 years. My favorite is the Monday Fried chicken special. Good food and reasonable low price. Good meal deal with soup and salad and dessert. This location is usually not busy. I hope it will be there for years to come.

I have been coming here for years, and my grandparents for 30. This place has changed. The pancakes are not cooked all the way and their fresh fruit is never ripe, but always hard. They do, however, make a good waffle and the house omelet is not bad.

Very old fashion spires . Waiters are nice and funny. Service and food comes fast. Place needs to get updated.

Seriously though for a place like this -- equivalent to IHOP, Denny's et al, Spires is pretty darn good. We were wanting western style breakfast this morning instead of the Asian style and nothing came to mind. It was on the late side and everyone agreed, no IHOP or Denny's and Ruby's stopped serving breakfast about an hour and a half ago. Not wanting to fight the crowds in Costa Mesa we decided to give Spires another try. We haven't been here in a while. We were seated immediately, drinks were brought swiftly. They had a July special breakfast for $4.99 which included 2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon, 1 sausage and either 2 pancakes or a waffle. I wanted toast but they don't do substitutions on the special but I got it anyway since the young man wanted pancakes. The young man got the kid's breakfast which included: 2 eggs, 2 bacon (sausage or ham), hash brown and toast. Hubby got the daily special of chorizo omelette which also comes with hash brown and toast. Luckily there was more than enough toast to go around so I was happy. My poached eggs were perfectly runny, just the way I liked 'em. Hubby's chorizo omelette wasn't bad either, but I was not in the mood for omelette. The young man ate the most! He polished off his entire breakfast plus ate 1/2 of my sausage, 1/2 a pancake as well plus 1/2 a slice of toast. Our total with 3 drinks was a little under $24 before tip. Pretty good deal and it hit the spot. It's nothing fancy, but for your regular breakfast with no frills, ya can't beat Spires.

Let me first say that I have been coming to this particular restaurant for 6 years. I have no intention of abandoning this place for a long time. The food is great and the service is good! No matter the time of day, I usually come for breakfast. Especially the Lumberjack (which is currently on special!) If I happen to have dinner, I opt for the soup, salad and dinner roll. I am a big fan of the vegetable beef (though yes, sometimes it has almost no beef) but the flavor makes up for it and the vegetables are hearty. Overall, this is my favorite family restaurant. Even though I don't live nearby, I always make the drive just to eat here.

Compared to the Coco's down the street from this place, this place has reasonable pricing and very decent food. My previous visit to Spire's was not since college and this visit probably won't be my last one. Let me tell you about my visit..... WOW.....I ordered the daily dinner plate special which consisted of a pot roast with mashed potato and gravy, green beans, salad, soup, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream for $7.94. ANOTHER WOW.....my buddy ordered another daily dinner plate special which consisted of a chicken breast with choice of sauce, vegatables, rice, salad, soup, and a pudding for dessert for $7.49. Maybe because we ordered the dinner plate specials, I am sure everything was pre-made and ready to go....but honestly.....with decent tasting food and service along with the killer pricing.....I will consider this Spire's again. We were in and out of the restaurant in less than 45 minutes. I am sure I will be back! ;-p

Spires, hmmm where should I start, first off I have always thought this place was a place for old people so I was never one to try it. One day me and my boyfriend were driving along and he stoped at spires to eat. I believe it was on mothers day. I ordered I think there cheeseburger combo and i think he ordered the same thing and man was it a cheap bill. I have never seen such a cheap bill. Kudos for the old people. Anyhow ever since then spires had become one of our spots especially when you are tight on money. The Westminster location had this teriyaki special only served on Wednesdays, which came with everything the grilled chicken breast, salad and soup, the drink, dessert and mean damn that was a lot of food for one person and it was only like 6 bucks. Sprires now a days SUCKS!!! It is way to expensive for the quality of food that they give you, its not like we are dining in a five star restaurant. For there prices now a days we would rather go and eat at chili's or clam jumpers. There food use to be good that's why i gave them 3 stars. And if you do plan on going to visit them i suggest trying the french dressing on there salad, its the bomb, and my bf loves there chicken gumbo soup, but watch out you think chicken gumbo and you think the south right, its more of a chowder kind of appearance.

This is always a safe bet for breakfast if you don't want to go to the usual chain places although this is also a chain, but I like it better than IHOP. They have a salsa which you can request to go with your eggs. I always get that. It is better than regular salsa from a jar and goes well when they have the Mexican style omelets. Service is not bad and it's not expensive. The menu is your regular no-frills with sandwiches and burgers, salads, that sort of thing. I like it too because they serve breakfast all day long.
