Because I felt like my life couldn't get any worse I finally decided to give in and give fish tacos a try. I do not eat fish (well I do, kind of, I'm just super picky with it) but have been craving fish tacos for a good few months. I have no clue how or why I was craving something I don't even like but I guess that's the power of Yelp and Corey M's reviews. I was told to pick our din spot and the choices were Thai, Chinese or being brave and giving my first experience of a fish taco a try WITH the option to go to Mc Donald's for nuggets after if I did not like the tacos. HC's brave soul opted for the fish taco/McD's challenge and off to FishBonz we were. HOLLA at it being Tuesday so we got to take advantage of you guessed it, TACO TUESDAY! I felt if I was going for it I will go for it so I ordered 2 regular fish tacos (battered and fried) and 1 cajun shrimp taco. We got our bevies and took a seat outside on their patio. Our food came out in due time and it was time for me to face the fish. I will be honest I was slightly freaked but I knew there were McD's nuggets at the end of the tunnel. Picky me took a quick gander at the 3 fish tacos in front of me and chose the "less scary" looking ones. Bite one......GOOD! The fish was crispy and the cabbage and cream sauce complimented it well. I could taste the fish which I liked and I actually enjoyed this taco. Next up was the cajun shrimp and that was tasty as well. I really liked how the cream on top of that taco was spicy. I actually would love to have the fish taco with that spicy cream. Obviously at the end of it all, Mc Donald's nuggets were not needed and my fist fish taco experience was way less scary than I had thought it was going to be. I feel like I have grown up some in the food world and I am now excited to give the raved about fish taco joints a try. Please just do not pressure me yet (Corey M. and Lucy Y.) to give sushi a try. I'm soooo not there yet but I will join you and eat on a fish taco date any day!

I pictured this place as more of a restaurant but the environment is more like a fast food establishment. The staff was friendly and helpful as I was clearly undecided on staying when I walked in. I ordered the tuna taco combo. The tacos were 100 average. Nothing to write home about at all. Came with red beans and rice which were actually surprisingly good. Had dinner for 7 bucks. I would not go back here myself but if you are looking for fast and inexpensive dinner that is not Burger King this might be a good choice

Surprisingly good fresh fish in a casual atmosphere. I have never had a bad experience, and have always had good food. The price is, perhaps, higher than necessary, but the speed and quality make up for it.

Best fish tacos I've ever had. Less than $2 on Tuesdays 4-9pm. I also tried the ahi poke sliders and Hawaiian poke (eventually the spices gave me heartburn but it was worth it). Can't wait to try something else. Edit: Also tried the grilled shrimp wrap (basically shrimp burrito with rice, sauce and cabbage). Also excellent. Large shrimp pieces inside.

This a great location being next to the movies And This was my second time here and my first time here sense I got a Yelp. Both times here i ordered Blackened Catfish! It was really good. The second time I was a little disapointed but the catfish was still good. Condiment Bar was great and everyone there was nice So overall a 4 Star rating.

I have to say this place far exceeded my expectations and continues to do so. When you go try: The Ahi tacos The Cajun Talapia The Ahi Salad The fried scallops are also pretty good. The important thing is that the use fresh fish... been there probably about 30 times now and never had a bad experience. Also you can buy one movie ticket per meal for $7.50

I was craving seafood last friday. I have always driven by the sign of this place but never had the chance to eat it. Well this time I did and it satisfied my seafood craving. Like how the title said, a casual seafood grill. You order at the counter and find a place to sit. I ordered the grilled Barramundi with cajun seasoning and my partner ordered the grilled catfish with cajun seasoning. Both fish tasted heavenly. I ordered the sweet potato fries side-it as a little soggy, but some small bits were crispy. My main purpose here was seafood and it didn't let my cravings down. The food is affordable for seafood and the portions are generous so I will come back if I don't want to spend to much on a seafood craving ^_^ I really want to try the other things on their menu-clam chowder, fried fish, fish tacos, etc. YAY for fishbonz! ^_^

When I feel guilty from eating hamburgers too often for lunch, I go to FishBonz to eat fish. I get the grilled Salmon, Cajun style, with rice. It is always good, really good! And I feel better emotionally about eating something that is good for me to eat. Sometimes I get the deal with the discounted movie ticket with the meal and use the ticket at the AMC Rolling Hills 20 movie theater next to FishBonz.

It's about time a place like this came to Torrance! They serve casual seafood - good quality - healthy - delicious - and affordable!! I got the trout with cajun seasoning and it was very light and yummy! I loved it! My bf tried the catfish with cajun seasoning and his was thicker and fleshier than mine but it pretty much tasted the same because we got the same sauce. I chose rice over the fries and it also came with coleslaw (also good) and bread. I saw a lot of people getting the fish tacos too so I want to try that next time. :) All the workers here are also super friendly! I was blown away at how nice everyone was. It made me wanna come back! They also have an area where you can get an unlimited supply of your own tartar sauce, salsa, lemons, limes, etc! I love their tartar sauce! It goes so well with the fish! Yummmm! I'm getting hungry as I type this! If you're catching a movie at the AMC next door, I highly recommend checking this place out to eat before or after your movie! :)

I had really high hopes for this place...was really excited when I saw the "Coming Soon" sign. My first experience was awesome, food and staff. The Rolling Hills Plaza is very close to my office, and with so many places/options in the area to grab a bite, I was happy to see a seafood place. It was about time!! Only after a month, did my love of this place start to go down hill *tear*. Their customer service sucks. I won't get into to much detail. Just don't bother calling your order in. You will wait on the phone FOREVER!! I guess you get some entertainment while waiting on hold. You get to listen in and hear the cashier take customers orders while you wait on the phone!! Booo. Now, I don't bother calling in my order, I just go, wait in line and tell them its to go. Much, much faster then calling it in. *** Update to reveiw above ** Got a message from the owner and this is what he had to say... Derek T. Owner Block & Report Owner 18 hours ago Karina, First let me say I'm sorry for your frustration. Now let me say why I think your 2 star review is unfair. I have a policy that when the phone is answered and were ringing up a customer, we say can you hold a minute, finish with that customer then the next to be helped is the person on the phone. This is the fairest way to handle this. Now let's reverse the situation...... Youve waited in line, it's now you're turn to order, the phone rings and they tell you to wait while they take a phone order...... Would you also be upset? In other words, do you have a better suggestion to handle this? I think we make healthy delicious food that's affordable, unfortunately the only other answer would be to hire an extra person to babysit the phone all day to take phone orders. This would be costly and I would have to raise my fair prices. Again my appologies for your frustration, Hope you can see from the other side my frustration and how I feel for you to give me 2stars f

I give this establishment 4 of 5 stars though I know for some, they just won't be satisfactory. FishBonz serves fish in a variety of ways, but let's face it, at the end of the day that variety isn't very extensive or distinctive. In terms of options and that variety itself, copious references exist. For now, I will say that I have been to FishBonz between a dozen and sixteen or so visits. I've had a few different things and I've never been disappointed. I've never had to send anything back, nor have I ever been sick afterword. On every new visit, I want to try something new but usually do not, since I've tried most things and I know what I like. I always get Salmon, though I've tried every fish. I've only tried the shrimp in a salad and they were OK. Calamari is satisfying, but it is not served traditionally and like me, you will not be expecting the fishstick-like product they bring you. The Fish Tacos here are superb, and I will join any chorus in support of them. They are big, flavorful, crunchy, complex, and satiating on many levels. I often get the Salmon salad here and I wish I didn't need to get the Cajun flavor along with it. If it's an option, I'd hope it would be publicized. I enjoy the garlic flavoring more, though I don't always want French Fries with it. They are good though, I cannot lie. Go to FishBonz, it is tasty and healthy. Tell them John sent you. ;-D

Delicious and fresh fish! Fish Bonz even provides more information about the fish so you can make a more informed lunch/dinner choice! ie. fresh, frozen, wild, farmed! The waitress recommended the white ruffy, but that fish was previously frozen, so the bf and I opted for the mahi mahi with garlic butter sauce (8.99) and the trout with the cajun seasoning (8.99). Since I'm trying to adhere to a more low carb diet, I upgraded the white rice to brown rice for $0.50. Although the restaurant accepts credit cards, they only accept cash tips!!! Both of our meals were excellent! Each comes with a piece of bread and coleslaw. The garlic butter sauce is VERY rich, so avoid if you are trying to diet! The Cajun seasoning was also very good! Previously I've tried the Seared Ahi salad, which I didn't find as tasty. Also, only one bathroom! (which can get kinda annoying) They give you a customer loyalty rewards card. "Purchase 10 meals 6.95 or more and receive the 11th meal free" BUT only one meal credit per visit. =( Overall, the food was delicious and I left feeling pretty satisfied.

I was very impressed by the generous portion of salmon given on the Cajun salmon salad!! I order salmon salads ALL the time and this is the best I've had! The battered fish is really yummy too! I'm sad I just tried this place and will definately make up for lost time!

I have driven by Fish Bonz hundreds of times on my way to Peets but never really paid any attention other than seeing the name of the restaurant. Last Tuesday I was craving fish tacos and Fish Bonz came up in my search. What a find! I grew up in San Diego eating fish tacos at Rubios (before they went corporate) and have spent many weekends in Ensenada having tacos at the fish market when I was a kid. The tacos at Fish Bonz are delish and as compared to Rubios, a much better value, especially on Taco Tuesdays. If you like catfish, the also have catfish tacos. My only two bits I would want to comment on was I wish the grilled ahi tacos could have just had a light sear and not cooked all the way thru. And the other would have been to separate the hot and cold items on to go orders. I order 4 tacos (regular baja, catfish, ahi, and grilled shrim) and the poke. All the containers were put in the same bag and thus the poke warmed up. Other than that this place is highly recommended.

Picked up some fish tacos on Tuesday for only &1.75 each. They were great and for that price well worth it. I wasn't to keen on the salmon taco but that's just personal preference. The original and spicy fish tacos were awesome with some tartar sauce slathered on them. Would recommend and will be back on Tuesday's for some solid grub.

Have ate at this place several times and the food is very good. Have tried a few of the grilled fish (salmon and white ruffy), my son loves the poke sliders. Tried one of the bowls but they mess it up by putting teriyaki sauce on salmon, would have ordered without the sauce if I knew about it, Like a few people have mentioned the service(cashier) can by pretty bad at times. Ordered movies tickets a few times and they always forget to give you the tickets and at time when it gets busy, they don't add a cashier. Overall you get your money worth at this place.

the food is pretty good . One thing I was quite disappointed when I ask the my bread coming with the fish plate was cold and when I ask simply to warm it up . they told me they dont do it!! for a good restaurant like this , I do not understand.

Good food, Fresh fish, and at decent prices. They always have specials for white ruffy when you check in. I believe its 1.00 off. I had white Ruffey w/ garlic butter and rice. They always cook the fish perfect. I have never had a dry piece of fish. The have indoor and our door seating. When you place your order they give you your number and you find yourself a seat and just wait to enjoy your delicious fish. I have also tried the Tacos and those just as tasty.

Ok, so I've eaten here about 4 times. The first two times, food was great. I had the Grill Salmon and the second time, Cajun Ahi Salad. Both were delicious and I looked forward to eating this again. The third time I came here, I ordered the Ahi salad since I really liked it. Food came out and everything was good, until I found the longest hair evar in my food... we are talking a long female hair. Sent back. It took me a while to come back here and I like to give a place a second chance. After about 2 months, I come and order a grilled fish plate. After I got my order, I was eating it and my fiancee noticed a bug crawling around in the food. Yes, still alive. I think that's all that needs to be said. I came, I tried, I tried again. :( I guess I need to stick to California Fish Grill.

I love trout. There's no getting around it. When I think of eating fish, it's trout that leaps to mind. If a restaurant doesn't serve trout I seriously reconsider even ordering fish or sometimes seafood altogether. That being said, it takes a lot for a place to impress me with their trout. I mean--I've had it all the way up and down the California coast. I've had it in places as far-off as Seattle and Boston and Chicago. I don't believe a fish exists that I'm more familiar with how it should taste than trout. For every place that I've sampled a delectable morsel of this freshwater fish I've probably tried a dozen places where I've been gravely let down. Let me just say, Fish Bonz is one of the good guys. Their Cajun trout is spot-on sublime. It possesses a good deal of flavor, is pretty hefty for the price, and still manages to squeak in under $9. There isn't anything I can complain about their version of my seafood staple. The fries and cole slaw it comes with also happen to be perfect accompaniments, neither overpowering the fish nor being weak-tasting or forgettable. I love small seafood places that can offer great deals on their fish. I love places that know seafood doesn't have to be a high-class affair where you break out the china and crystal. I'd much rather eat at a place like Fish Bonz that can bring fish to the people off the street, people who are just looking for a good meal while they're out and not a black tie affair. I can't say any more about this place except to say that now that I've found it there ain't nothing in the world that can keep me from coming back again and again for their simply awesome trout.

You order your food and pay at the cash register. Then you wait while they make your food.. which could take a while, but it's worth it, because that means it's made fresh! Conversely, if you don't want to wait, call in your order ahead of time and pick it up. As for the food, I got 3 tacos (cajun shrimp, cajun salmon, white ruffie) and a side of regular fries. All the tacos were delicious and spicy as the word cajun would imply. The fries were macdonald's style. I was stuffed in the end. The price was inexpensive for the amount of food that I got. Overall, this is a high quality restaurant that I would recommend to anyone in the mood for seafood.

Came here one of the first times I was in LA last summer, for a weekend lunch with friends. Loved the food, though I don't clearly remember what I ordered- I know I had a fish taco, and one of the shrimp tacos, and both were very fresh and delicious. Also had the vegetable skewers, which were possibly equally noteworthy- perfect level of doneness and super flavorful! Sat on the porch and had a leisurely lunch before shopping in the area. Really had an enjoyable time, would go again!

The best I can say is that this place is almost mediocre. The fish is fresh enough but they drench everything in butter "sauce". The service is sullen and slow. We won't be back.

Try something new every time, I haven't been disappointed yet! The Garlic butter Salmon is one of my favorites, along with the brown rice. Very delicious and cleans, One of the best seafood places in south bay! it's quick and the service is great.

Here's the deal: I came across FishBonz while looking for a local seafood place with a friend. Based upon the reviews, it seemed really good and we were certainly not disappointed. I ordered the Cajun Spiced Catfish and an appetizer of Poke Tuna to share. The Poke Tuna comes with tortilla chips (which is a bit unique), was seared ever so slightly, and had just the right seasoning. It was absolutely addicting! In fact, I could order that as my main entrée and be perfectly content. My main dish was the Cajun Spiced Catfish and it was very fresh, very large, and an absolute delight! It wasn't overcooked, over seasoned, or too skimpy. Actually, it's a very large portion and you won't go away hungry. I ordered mine with the rice on which the catfish rested. I think I made a good selection and would likely order it again. However, options abound and I'm confident they're all good. The atmosphere is certainly casual, laid back, and easy going. It can be a bit noisy but the food is teriffic. I actually prefer sitting on the patio as they have heat lamps that make things very comfortable. You serve yourself as far as drinks are concerned but the food is delivered to your table. Check it out!

Good food, I had the salmon with garlic butter sauce. I love their corn chowder and clam chowder soups. But it's like a fast food restaurant so they are too busy for you when you want something. So they weren't too helpful which slightly bothered me but not too much. So I will definitely go back!

I'm a huge CA Fish Grill fan but it's far from my work so I decided to check out this place. I ordered their seared ahi salad and it was absolutely delicious and better than the one at CA Fish Grill. Looking around, the place looked fresh and clean and the staff are super friendly.

SOLID 3.5 STARS (rounded up!) FishBonz CASUAL Seafood Grill - their name pretty much sums up what the place is all about! Located in Torrance's Rolling Hills Plaza (in front of the AMC 20 theaters), this place is hustlin' and bustlin' that if you really want to get the type of fish you want - go early since they can run out! My parents adore this place and apparently are frequent flyers. They said it's the "best place to dine in the area." But my parents don't really like to drive too far from the Southbay area, so if I were in this little bubble, I too would agree this would be a decent place to eat. But like all children, they don't always agree with what their parents have to say ...... PERKS: - Food is cooked fresh to order! - A HEALTHY way to dine out - REASONABLE PRICES! - They use fresh ingredients - You can get your food to-go (so if you call in your order, it'll be finished in 15-20 minutes) - If you order to-go you can park right by the circular round-about, which is in front of the restaurant to pick up your order - Sleek, modern ambiance What did I try? - Skewered shrimp - Swai White Ruffy (white fish) What did they run out? (I originally wanted to order these!) - Mahi mahi - Cajun seared Ahi DIRTS: - Service can be quite rude (especially if you order your food to-go) Stop with that snappy 'tude your rude girl! - If you park at the circular round-about, to pick up your to-go order, watch out for crazy drivers from that 3-way intersection who just want their way and want to run you over - Sometimes the to-go order temporary parking at the circular round-about is full and you end up parking in the general parking lot - Presentation of their to-go food seems as if they just threw everything in one to-go box. But then again what can you expect from something that is take out? I felt the presentation was something from a cafeteria. Overall thought? I think that FishBonz is a great concept and I think this place is decent, affordable, healthy place for the Southbay area. I'm not "ZOMG head over heels" about the place (maybe because I'm a glutton), but at the same time, I wouldn't mind eating here again with the parentals. Hopefully the next time I'm here they don't run out of the other fish I would like to try out!

I love this place. I have tried their cajun mahi mahi and tilapia. BOTH were light & flaky, well seasoned, and delicious!! I always order a side of grilled zucchini. Their prices are reasonable, and am excited that they also have chicken on the menu because my BF does not eat seafood at all. I tasted their grilled chicken and it was tasty as well!

We had been wanting to try this place for quite some time! What a major disappointment!! We had the grilled shrimp wrap and the grilled shrimp tacos. The food was so bland that a hospital or airline wouldn't even serve it. The wrap only had four bland shrimp and a huge amount of bland white rice. The bland tacos were served with bland beans and bland white rice. Don't bother with this place!!

  • S N.

I love the freshness and taste of the food here. I've been here multiple times and I was never disappointed. I have tried the tacos and grilled fishes. For the tacos, I really like the fish tacos that have been battered and fried. They are amazing! And huge! If you go on Tuesdays, they have a Taco Tuesdays special, in which the tacos are about $1.50-$2. Well worth it. As for the fish plates, the usually come with a side of rice (white or brown), coleslaw, beans and bread. I don't care too much for the slaw and beans, but I always choose the brown rice, which they give you a substantial portion. As for the fish, you can have it buttered or cajun. The fish is always grilled to perfection, moist, and does not have a fishy smell to it. Service: MAIN DISLIKE ABOUT THIS PLACE. Multiple times, I had bad experiences with rude cashiers. They give you attitude and do not have any sense of hospitality. I find it disrespectful when a cashier gives you attitude when you have not done anything but tried to order your food. Honestly, the cashier is probably the first person a customer sees at FishBonz because you have to order your food first prior to sitting down. I think the managers should take a better look at those who are representing their company. Atmosphere: Clean, casual. Parking: Located in a shopping center with other restaurants and a movie theater. Plenty of parking available. Prices: $. Affordable. Will I come again? Despite the young rude cashier. Yes.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the salmon salad! The walnuts cranberries, gorgonzola cheese, perfectly grilled marinated filets of salmon are so awesome. I would make the 10 minute drive there even though that is kind of pushing it for a one hour lunch break. I made my boss get me the salmon salad as my birthday lunch, that's how special I think the salmon salad is. The owner sometimes walks around and talks to customers. I like that.

If I was rating it on food alone, I would say 4 stars, but unfortuantely, service was so so SO bad. This is the type of place where you order at the counter and they bring you your food. Came for lunch on a Friday where it was busy, but not packed. It took 45 min for me to get my food!!! By the time it came, I had to pack it up and go back to work. Good food or not, I wouldn't come back again.

Measured any number of ways - price, service, access, variety - this place ranks very high. Baja fish tacos to die for (not sure the white beans and rice options work), super deep fried scallops, and dorado (mahi-mahi) al mojo de ajo make things perfect for this 63 year old fish eater. Great wait and kitchen staff adds to the casual nature of this joint. John MacAllister

I love fish, but if you don't you'll still like this place. I always order the teriyaki chicken with grilled zucchini because it's so good. They have a kids menu also and their fries are superb. It's usually crowded so don't come with a large party.

I was shocked to find another excellent fish restaurant in torrance. A few weeks ago I gave huge praise to baja fish grill for their portions and price. As a matter of fact, I wanted to go to baja fish grill today, but I found out they were closed due to cleaning. So I used yelp to find another fish restaurant, and lo & behold there was one in just a mile away. I came, I saw, and I checked in to get one dollar off their roughy fish. They offer the same things as baja fish grill, except the place was significantly cleaner and the surrounding area was much nicer. Of course, the meal was more expensive (by a dollar or two) than baja fish grill, but they had a much more expanded menu. They have the best poke (chopped up raw tuna mixed with scallions). Ya, I kinda I wished I lived in torrance now.

Friends recommended Fish Bonz so my family and I went there and gave it a try. Ordered the Hawaiian ahi poke slider tacos and they were delicious. The taco shells were crispy but not greasy and the poke w/the cilantro sauce was so tasty and yummy! Also ordered a fish bowl w/teriyaki sauce which wasn't as good as the tacos. Could have been good w/o the sauce.

I like Fish Grill in Gardena a tad bit better, but FishBonz is a nice local substitute. Their food is always consistent and fresh tasting. And curbside service is a nice bonus.

Great casual lunch spot. Really good fish done simply. Concept is a home run

The food is great! Nice, casual atmosphere. The grilled fish is so good with the garlic butter and rice. Fried shrimp and calamari are great! Grilled veggies are great! The tacos a HUGE! My daughter doesn't do seafood so she gets the chicken tacos and loves them. My husband loves the grilled fish tacos. Nice Owner: My husband dropped a plate with some food and the owner cleaned it up himself and wouldn't allow us to clean it. We were happy to see an owner doing something instead of him calling staff to do it. **Not a fan of the tasteless coleslaw :(

I tried the seared ahi fish tacos. They were cooked medium to medium well. Nuf said.

Wow, this place rocks! I scored a perfect trifecta.. it was a 5 star day with 2 other 5 star reviews, all on the same day! To say the fish tacos are killer is an understatement, as well as, very cliche. I had a hankering for fish tacos since my other fave place closed down. Since I despise crowds, what was I thinking going out on a Saturday night? Add to the fact that this restaurant is smack in the middle of a movie theatre/shopping center. With competitive parking, we lucked out and nabbed a spot, walked in to a mod, very well utilized space. The line went quickly and we lucked out again finding a table on a crowded night. What can I say? Our combo plates arrived and the portions exceeded my expectations. I had to try the fried fish combo which came with corn tortillas, WHITE beans in a tomato based sauce and very flavorful but not overpowering white rice. Only thing that was a little odd but I can understand is that when I asked for a frequent diner's card, I received one for myself and couldn't obtain another one for DH. However, theoretically, would I have received another one had we done separate transactions? Next time, I have on my list to try the sweet potato fries, brown rice, interesting cole slaw and carrot cake. DH and son were very pleased as well. Looks like the place to be on Taco Tuesdays!

What a great little place, and convenient before or after the movie at AMC 20. My wife had the shrimp tacos and they were delicious (I tasted them). The rice was simple yet tasty and the beans were good too. I had the original fish tacos and they were not fishy tasting at all. This is important for people like me that do not eat fish all the time. We shared a green salad too. Everything was prepared well and tasted real fresh. The seating was great too. We sat outside on the patio which was great on a beautiful day. We will be back.

This is one of my absolute favorite places in So Cal. Whenever we visit from the Bay Area, we make a point to meet up with fam and friends. There is a delicious variety of fish -- from catfish to salmon to swai white ruffy with a choice of garlic butter sauce or Cajun style. The corn chowder is amazing -- the best we have ever had. Sides like grilled zucchini and white beans are healthy as the are yummy. We always share crab cakes and my hubby loves the Hawaiian Ahi Poke. The vibe is hip, California casual with great service!

I finally ended up trying out this place and was pleasantly surprised. I am not a big huge fish fan, but the fish was really fresh here. I believe this place is somehow connected to California Fish Grill and they offer pretty much the same menu as them. I tried the White Ruffy (garlic butter sauce) with a side salad and it was cooked very well and the fish was very fresh and flaky. My husband got the cajun style trout and he said it tasted exactly the same as CFG. We also got the grilled zucchini and it came with two pieces. It wasn't anything spectacular, but it wasn't bad either. The service was good and the food came out pretty quick. We would definitely come back here again.

Healthy, good food at a good price in a pleasant location. Fresh fish everyday. Fast service when I'm on a time crunch during lunch break. One of my regular sources of food. Consistent and always meets my expectations. Poke Taco Sliders is my favorite appetizer. Aaaand, I get AMC movie gold tickets for $8.

Love this place, especially the tues taco specials. Only downfall is the service. Be prepared to wait in line to order, then wait another 20mins just to get your food. Oh and if you get it to go, forget it you're going to wait even longer. A lot of employees standing around looking confused, then when I asked one of them about my to go order after over 20mins of waiting, I got an attitude! If you're willing to deal with all of that, the food is great!

Great food, funny name. You wouldn't expect such fresh tasting fish from essentially a fast food restaurant, but that's what you get: high-quality fish at an affordable price. I like the scallop basket.

  • Grace W.

Absolutely delicious! The portions are pretty big for the price! Would definitely go again! If you plan on catching a movie across the plaza, be sure to buy your ticket from Fish Bonz. They offer a $4 discount!

I was first introduced to Fish Bonz when it opened about a year ago and I go on a regular basis. The food is delicious and the portions are pretty large too... oh and the prices are very reasonable- I always get the white ruffy fish with yummy french fries for only $7.99! Fish Bonz would get a 5 star rating from me if only one thing was different- the service. The people who work there know my Dad and I are regulars but they hardly acknowledge us unlike most restaurants that greet their regulars and what not. Also, one of the waitresses ALWAYS speaks over my food when she's about to serve it which is gross considering you can literally see a little bit of saliva spraying from her mouth to my food (sorry for the visual) haha. But I just think that food handlers should know better than that because that's just gross! Good food though :)

I often visit this restaurant after visiting the spa. I think the scallops & shrimp combo is fresh and tasty. However, I have always wanted to try the Lobster special which is only offered on Sundays but bc only 20 of these meals are available I usually miss out. However, I finally got lucky on 12/29/13! I ordered the lobster and another meal to go. I was so disgustingly disappointed when I attempted to eat the lobster tail, I kept inhaling this strong offensive odor. WTH!!!! What is this? BLEACH!!!! Would they really do this? YES!!!!!!!!! It was totally inedible and then I remembered this undercover documentary of several supermarkets back east where they would "bleach" the seafood when it passed its "sell by date". I really do not appreciate being fed bleached food. I am not against the use of bleach. In fact, I often use it to clean my floors, tub and toilet. However, I do not wish to digest it. We are unsuspecting, trusting and many are loyal customers. Please respect us by feeding us untainted food vs. food you would NEVER feed your family, children or anyone else you love.

This is a really good place to eat delicious seafood at a very low cost. I ordered a combo cajun taco. It came with two tacos, rice, soup and a drink...for 7 dollars. It was such a lot of food too! The service was friendly. I like how you pay when you order instead of paying after you eat. The place was really small, but it was clean. They have an outdoor eating area which is where I ate. There is also a television.

This was my first time here and I had a very good impression. The place had a very clean and simple look. Friendly people and quick service. We decided to sit outside which was great because it has a patio type feel, but the plastic window canvas gives you a bit of privacy from people walking by outside. Ordered crab cakes, white ruffy (fish) and shrimp taco. The fish was very good and a big portion. The only thing I didn't like was the large amount of filling lettuce in the taco. Prices were very reasonable. Definitely will go back gain. Oh, if you have food there, you can get discounted AMC tickets...I think $7.99. Not too shabby.- DC

I love this place. Great place to go if you craving some fresh seafood. Can't get enough of their Cajun White Ruffy. Portions are very generous. Definitely going to eat here again.

  • Hana N.

The clam chowder, wrap, and fried fish was delicious! However, the french fries wasn't the best... it wasn't hot or warm... it was room temperature and it had that texture where the fries have been sitting there awhile (i like to eat my fries first btw!). They really need to fix how they set up their ordering food process - sometimes the door/line can get backed up because people are just standing there looking at the menu trying to figure out what to order and it doesn't help when the inside is small as well, quite annoying actually.

One of the better gems in South Torrance, the food is excellent. The only thing that keeps this place from being absolutely amazing is Fishbonz is not a traditional sit down restaurant. It is a cafeteria style, order first then sit down. For the price, Fish Taco Tuesdays are fantastic. All tacos are under $2, and don't get fooled by upgrading to a combo. Just be prepared for long wait to order on Tuesdays. The Cajan Salmon Salad in my opinion is the best salad in the South Bay. It's also one of the more expensive items on the menu but a reasonable price of $11. The calm chowder, ahi poke, grilled mahi mahi, and the fish and chips plate are also terrific.

We ordered: TROUT with coleslaw- i thought this was ok ORANGE ROUGHY WITH GARLIC BUTTER/ COLESLAW : this was really tasty. It's a hearty portion esp with the rice they give you SWEET POTATO FRIES: i thought this was ok liked the fries better FRENCH FRIES: very crispy.. liked alot GRILLED ZUCCHINI: good FRIED CALAMARI- this was a winner.. very moist.. LOVED IT!

This is a good place to take kids if your kids like fish as much as mine do. What I like especially is the shrimp tacos. They are a bit too big so I start eating them like a salad until they are small enough to pick up, but better too much than too little. I keep intending to try a grilled fish, their specialty, but always seem to get in the mood for tacos when I go. The one thing I don't like is the cole slaw. Generally I love slaw but this one is so bland I don't know why I keep ordering a side of it. Each time I wish I hadn't. I appreciate that they use sesame oil or something instead of mayonnaise, but at the expense of flavor in my opinion.

I always come here for taco tuesday! So worth the price even if it isn't taco tuesday. I didn't really like the fish tacos so I always get shrimp, which is good as well ! The salsa goes along with the tacos well! The food takes a while to come out sometimes, but that's because it's always packed whenever I go. I wish there was more indoor seating, but it's okay. I love this place though! The workers are nice and friendly!

I have to give it a low rating and I think it's my fault. I ordered the fried fish and calamari with fries. Hmm. I'm not sure if its fresh or wait but it tastes like it came straight from the freezer, van de camps style or something. I mean I'm easy to please and I ate it, but nothing special. Also the line was like 5 deep and took about 20 minutes, that was a buzz kill. I think this is just like California Fish Grill, so I'm assuming the other stuff is good. I just screwed myself. I'll update when I go back. I'm sure the other stuff is better.

Great inexpensive fish place, great location, and nice atmosphere. You can get two fish tacos and a drink for $6-$7. It was quite tasty and the service was fast and good. They have a discount when you buy an entree which will allow you get discounted movie tickets for the nearby AMC theater, making it easy for dinner-and-a-movie. There is nice outside seating as well, which I like. The California Fish Grill in Gardena/El Segundo is a bit tastier, but the wait there is longer (you have to hover around people and grave a table right when they leave) as well as the drive. So, if I am time-pressed, I'll go here instead, but if I really crave a good fish wrap or fish taco, I'll head to Gardena/El Segundo.

We ate lunch here today on a friend's recommendation. We could not have been happier. We both had the Grilled Cajun Ahi. It was so, so good. We also tried the Ahi Tacos . . . loved them! The restaurant is clean and the service is quick and friendly even though its was crowded for lunch. We live in Orange County, but the next time we're in the South Bay, we'll be back!

This place was delicious. I took my brother there for his birthday and we had the bacon wrapped scallops and shrimp. It was great. Nice size portions for about 13 bucks. Good deal. As we were about to leave to catch a movie at the AMC next door, the waitress overheard us and said that they sold AMC tickets for 7.50 (the kind you get at Costco). So instead of paying full price for a movie we got it for matinee price. This place is awesome.

This is the place if you... *want fresh fish *are looking for a healthy and affordable option *need an awesome place to eat in the South Bay *want something quick but with great quality *are looking for a consistently good restaurant to spend your hard earned money FishBonz does it right, folks. Seriously. We have been here, more times than I should really admit, a lot and are never disappointed. They have generous portion sizes and amazing prices. We tend to celebrate everything from birthdays, meeting up with friends, family in town, a new nail color, Happy Tuesday, and anything else we can thing of at FishBonz. We are, obviously, trying to rationalize an obsession. We have even ordered it for take out way too many times to count. They are a breathe of FRESH air in the chain-resto-filled Rolling Hills Plaza. This is such a great option for pre- and/or post- movie viewing. They have comfortable and heated patio seating too. We recommend this place to everyone and they are always thrilled. Try it, you won't be disappointed. What we've had (and it's all good) *Blackened catfish *Mahi Mahi with garlic butter *Ahi with garlic butter *Seared Ahi *Fried Shrimp and Scallops *Fried Catfish *Clam Chowder *Sides-fries, coleslaw!!!, brown rice, and regular rice

Went to fish bonz last night for a quick to go order bacon wrapped skewers. My order came up and it was incorrect they immediately comp'd my next meal and I was very impressed by that. Food was fabulous cant believe I hadn't eaten here before now as they are in my backyard. Thanks for fabulous customer service and where else are you going to get bacon wrapped anything for under 20 bux.

the wifey and i strolled in here last saturday after seeing the massive crowd waiting for Islands. no thanks. fish taco = freakin awesome!!! hot, crunchy, moist, HUGE. great deal and oh so delish. my lady had the cajun salmon salad, which she devoured. this place is pretty much the same fare as all the other popular fish grills/fast food/restaurant jigs in town. the food did take a while to come out but at least it was hot and fresh as they entered our mouths. will come again, soon! oh, and their tartar sauce and cocktail sauce were yum yummms, too.

I've been here a handful of times and haven't had a disappointing experience. The food is always cooked very well and full of flavor. The portions are hearty for what you pay for, and it's as healthy as you want to make it. I tend to order the same salad (Seared Ahi Tuna) and the tuna is always cooked perfectly (cool in the middle with a spicy done outside) and my Ahi fillet is about 8 oz. Friends/family have ordered their grilled fish plates - the garlic sauce is terrific and goes very well with their salmon and their mahi mahi. I can only imagine how great the other types of fish and seafood they have taste! Service is a little disorganized, however, but as soon as the food is set in front of you, you quickly forget that detail.

This place is great if u love seafood ! In my opinion I think the prices are very fair considering they sell seafood and its good quality too! I always get a taco combo, it comes with two tacos, rice and beans (which I replace with fries), and a drink for around 7 bucks? I think thats the best deal they have on the menu. But I've always tried one of their salads and those are good too! They have good portions, great prices and yummy food! I prefer this place than California fish grill, which is just like fish bonz, but this is my go to place :)

Love this place. Torrance was a near culinary wasteland before they opened Fish Bonz. Consistent, high quality, seafood. Service always seems super eager to help, but comes across as a bit inexperienced... who cares though, it's fast and easy. Thumbs up! Love the garlic salmon and the breaded shrimp tacos. The side salads seem to come in a different type of plate/dish every time I'm there, and generally do not have enough dressing, odd, but I keep ordering them.

Been a customer since they first opened and usually come to eat with my family once a week. First off the food is excellent and never had any problems. Service is usually okay except for today. Called an order and asked for curbside pickup. The person on the phone rudely said, "Do you know what day it is? Today's Tuesday and we are extremely busy." So I said that's fine, I'll go inside to pickup the food. I went inside and waited in line, and the cashier just left and we literally waited more than 10 minutes for the cashier to come back. Another cashier told me she would help me, but then just walked off. By this time the line was out the door because the cashier couldn't do a her simple job of taking everyone's order in a timely fashion. I was already unhappy, and I told the cashier I had a phone order and she rolled her eyes at me and told me to go to a different register, because I was paying cash? I just paid and she handed me the food and didn't package it right so the coleslaw fell on the ground. I was done, she didn't say sorry or anything. I left no thank you and no tip. Either the owner or the manager needs redo all the logistics for this, or retrain all the employees. It's going to be a long while ,if ever if I take my family back there again.

It took 5 minutes for someone to take my order. There were 5 people behind the counter speaking some other language besides English. Not cool. I Finaly had to speek up and say HEY ARE YOU OPEN. So this dude at the counter looked at me without a smile, kinda like he was doing me a favor. I was going to turn around at this time but heard good things about this spot so wanted to try it out. I ordered the shrimp salad. I paid. They gave me a # and my change but no smiles. No thank you please come again or anything like that. WOW. I felt like I was in TJ.

This review is soley for the tacos here. The fish plates are great but the tacos here aren't as great. First off I think the lettuce in the tacos is much to hard and in large pieces. Even Del Taco knows how the lettuce should be in a taco. Also the tortilla is much TOO THICK and too Hard. The tortilla shell should be thinner and softer, instead of this hard whole wheatish tortilla. Other than that I think the shrimp for the grilled shrimp taco could have been grilled more rare or not so cooked.

Ran in before catching a movie and glad we did! Had a chicken taco and a grilled fish taco!! They were both really good! Loved the tortillas!! Would absolutely go back!!

I have been here numerous times, and love it. The fish tacos are huge, and the swai white ruffy plate is excellent! I hardly get a chance to eat fish at home, so I try to eat it when I dine out as much as I can. I love this place, the service is quick, the place is clean, and I have never had any problems with the cashiers.

Fresh fish and a tasty but healthy alternative to the usual greasy hamburgers and deep fried fast food joints. I'd recommend the tacos which can be topped with one or a few of their many sauces and salsas. The grilled vegetable skewer is a must and its far from tasteless...well seasoned and very flavorful!

Fish Bonz is a new casual seafood grill right by the AMC Rolling Hills 20 location (next to Kelly's Coffee). They just opened in the beginning of August 2010. When I think of seafood, I think of $$$$$!!!! But not at Fish Bonz! They're very, very generous with their portions and VERY affordable! I got their recommended Ruffy with cajun seasoning (For the grilled fish, you can choose between cajun or garlic butter seasoning) with rice or fries. You also get coleslaw and bread with your meal. And ready? All this for only $7.99 with tax. Quality seafood, fast service, clean atmosphere, and GREAT prices. My bf got the grilled catfish, and I think that was more thick? so I liked it better than the ruffy. We also shared a clam chowder, which was solid. Not the best tasting, but good nonetheless. Also, there's a salsa bar with lemons, cilantro, tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, mild salsa, and spicy salsa. My bf and I tried mixing and dipping different sauces with our fish. I know some of the sauces are for shrimp, but it didn't matter--the cocktail sauce was refreshing and mixed well with my spicy cajun fish :) They bring the food to your table, and I think it was the owner that came by with a business card to tell us to check out their website and comment on their food and service. I can see they're putting in the extra effort to cater to customers' needs, which is always really nice to see. I'm so glad I found a good, casual seafood place that tastes good AND has the best seafood prices I've seen yet! Think casual like Chipotle sit-down meals. I hope they have good business from now on! Good luck!

Great seafood for inexpensive prices. The cajun salmon taco combo is my go to item. The veggie skewers are also a nice treat. You can't go wrong here and it is exactly like California Fish Grill.

I visted this spot after hearing rave reviews from a co-worker. I had salmon and calamari. When we got there we ordered and waited for our order. While waiting we read their bulletin board which is located toward the back of the store. Mind you there are no posting anywhere else on the building. There was a discount for the theatre, when we asked for this discount we were told we had to get this when we paid for our meal. Now how is this possible when your not aware of it until after? The cashier was reluctant until the manager saw our disappointment. The calamari was not what I expected. My other party liked the steak like version. I prefer something a little more authentic. Because of customer service and calamari I rate them this way. Their saved because the have DELICIOUS grilled salmon.

Awesome! The first one to rate this place! Finally got a first reviewed added to my yelp resume! Today, 8/5/10, was the Grand Opening of Fish Bonz Casual Seafood Grill. Located in Torrance in the Rolling Hill AMC plaza, Fish Bonz is right in in front of the theatres where the turnabout circle is located. Very easy to find. As I was reading thru their about us and also over hearing what the managers were saying, this place is backed by the group from California Fish Grill (CFG) but is owned by 2 guys. So let's move deeper into my experience... The decor was different compared to California Fish Grill. This place got simple black and white decor that's much more elegant looking compared to the CFG concept. The place offers a small dining room section but has 2 outdoor patio area which looked very comfortable. The main dining area had terrific tables and leather seating (Let's see how long that last right? It's always beautiful the first day) But in general, the look of the place was nice but I did felt a bit too crammed in there. My butt was literally in another guy's face when I went to retrieve my food! Not good when the space between each table is only large enough to fit a 5 year old..... So spacing has to be done better otherwise you hope that person who walks by you don't have gas......yikes! The food.... surprisingly.... is not much different than CFG. (I would think they want to be a little different?) I guess since they backed this place all the recipe and the way served will be near identical to the entire concept chain. So for those interested in knowing how the food taste, please refer to CFG reviews as I'm sure there are many of them posted. But to me, it was the same flavor... enjoyed the garlic butter on swai, the rice etc. The only major complaints that I had so far is the taco... I'm sure the owner will be reading this soon enough, but man... the cajun shrimp taco was really salty and extremely oily. I don't recall that CFG tacos was that oily. Once I gripped onto the taco the oil immediately spilled out like BP! Except it was red due to the cajun spices. But way too oily for a taco so hopefully they can at least get that fixed. So I basically tried the grill plate with a taco, perhaps next time I'll give the fried food a try and see how if fares up. Final verdict.... it's CFG in another shell! (couldn't understand why they would do that to be in competition with themselves) I do anticipate it to do well though in that location because it's very easily spotted and there are no such concept near that area. However, despite there is a large parking lot the time takes to actually finding a spot is such a pain that it may deter some patrons... but I'm sure that will not stop people from visiting Fish Bonz. So yeah, give it a try, it's their grand opening week too bad they were not great with their marketing efforts and offer some perks for those who came in early to show support. But overall, cheap, good value, and tasty seafood, a terrific alternative to all the high end seafood eateries out there. Just stay away from the salty and oily tacos until they make the changes! Maybe my suggestion will earn me a free meal since it will probably be still the grand opening week? LOL!

So impressed! I had the shrimp tacos, and my husband ordered the cajun catfish. The tacos were amazing, and the catfish portions huge and beautiful. Seafood for two for under $30...and it was AWESOME!

  • Trisha F.

I really want to like this place, but I just can't. The only saving grace for me is the corn chowder because the clam chowder was watery. Otherwise, the rice tastes like nothing, the beans taste like nothing, and the breading on the fried items was not so crispy. Yes the seafood is fresh and quality, but when craving a fish taco, go around the corner to Rubio's Taco Tuesday.

I should have posted this back on the 5th when I went, but I just didnt have the time. New place, I think they just opened. It reminds me of chipolte grill inside. Nice setup for being so small. The tea is real, they have local handicap parking. I went for the salmon tacos which were in a cajun seasoning. Our food took a while to get, matter of fact, people who ordered after us got their food first. Not sure why, but I see nothing was deep fried and all the food was freshly cooked. The salmon was cooked well, not over cooked, but in my opinion too much cream sauce. They are very similar to california baja grill over in gardena. If they keep the quality up It should stay a while. I just hope they turn the radio down. I had to yell to talk to my gf.

I must say this place is just....WOW! I had the Cajun Catfish and it was very good! Not overcooked. Tender. Seasoned appropriately. And most importantly...filling! Yes they do give you very generous portions. This is the "go to" place for fish. At least for me it is... Had a bite of my family's order as well and everything was good!

We shall see seared ahi tuna tacos...ok it was too salty. Their beans were nasty and the only thing I liked we're the fish tacos...

Let me begin by saying I know people who love this place. I am NOT one of them. The first time I ate here I had the shrimp salad and suffered a painful bout of food poisoning from it. I have since been taken here on business meetings (not by my choice) and have successfully eaten a couple different things and have been ok although I feel the food is mediocre and don't see why people love it so much. That aside, only moments ago I got a phone call that my mother in law is in the ER right now with food poisoning from their seared ahi salad so I thought I'd put it out there to be wary and don't believe all the hype. Good luck! Eat at your own risk!

  • Rich S.

This place is great! You get incredibly fresh restaurant quality fish at near fast food prices. For those reviews complaining about price....are you kidding me? You'd pay 2 to 3 times as much at a higher end restaurant. Anyways, I love their food and highly recommend it. I've always received great service too.

I have eaten here twice, the most recent today. There seem to be a number of fast food fish grills sprouting up which is good (Malibu Fish Company, Wild Fish, and this one). In my opinion, the best one is Wild Fish on 190th and Normandie (in the shopping area behind Wal-Mart). For one thing, the choice of sides at Fishbonz is not as plentiful and some items cost extra if you want them - sweet potato fries, brown rice, salad. At Wild Fish, you get a choice of salad, fries, grilled zucchini, steamed veggies, rice (both white and brown) at no extra charge. And the best thing about Wild Fish is that the food is better and just a little less expensive. Another thing I like about Wild Fish is that you eat on real plates (not paper) and real silverware (not plastic). So it feels more like a real restaurant. Malibu Fish Company tends to be on the Middle Eastern side with sides such as pita bread and hummus although other things are available as well. Today at Fishbonz I told the cashier I did not want cole slaw or fries - was there anything else I could substitute for them? She gave me a list. When I got my receipt, I saw I was charged $1.49 extra for sweet potato fries. She hadn't told me at the time I ordered. And I got the cole slaw anyway which was wasted. Another thing about Fishbonz that turned me off is all their signs around saying don't do this and don't do that. The only negative about Wild Fish is parking. There are several very popular restaurants in that center, plus other stores. Parking around lunch time can be frustrating. But the food is worth it.

This casual grill was so worth my time coming. I came to lunch a few times with some of my coworkers , and it was the prefect environment . I usually get the grilled salmon salad with no dressing. Usually salads without dressings are bland , but this was different. The salmon had a spicy lemon taste to it which made it good without any dressings. The place is usually crowded when i come , but there is always seats available. Its definitely a place to worth to try.

Over thirty minutes for simple tacos on Taco Tuesdays?? Back to the other place.

My first time at FishBonz and I loved it. I had the grilled shrimp with cajun seasoning. Served with well prepared rice and cole slaw. My companion had the grilled salmon with garlic sauce. He was also very pleased with his choice. Look forward to returning. This is a neighborhood gem. Wish there was a Fishbonz in my neighborhood.

clam chowder = amazingggg fried shrimp tacos = delicioussss fried fish tacos = just all right. poke = good, but i like bigger cubes, rather than finely cut, their poke is very ceviche-like... my husband got the taco platter that was served with rice and beans and he wasnt too impressed, said it was bland. which says a lot cuz he LOVES rice will definitely be back for shrimp tacos and clam chowder (my husband and i split that and fought over who got to finish the last bites!) 5 stars if i didnt get the fish taco and if the beans and rice werent so bland

Usually good but today it took 21 minutes for my food, the Cajun white roughy was too spicy, rice was undercooked and hard so I had to request the brown rice and the personnel was not friendly at all. I hope this was just one bad night. I also had the Ahi Poke which was fresh with tasty seasonings. Hopefully, this restaurant can review procedures for something as simple as cooking rice as well as the proper amount of seasoning on fish to get it on the mark.

Finally we have filled the void for an inexpensive seafood restaurant! Their stuff is far from gourmet or even the best quality but the price and ease makes up for that. The seared ahi is good with both of the sauces. I also really really like their fish tacos which I think are the best in the area. The sauce on them is really good and they are not greasy. The grilled zucchini is good and so is the brown rice. The fries are frozen not fresh so I don't tend to buy them.

Great place for a quick healthy dinner. Very clean and quick overall. I had take out and everything was ready within 15 min of my call. The food was fresh, loved the garlic butter sauce and grilled zucchini, the clam chowder was also delish. Not a fan of the seared ahi salad- getting the salmon next time :)

My husband and I tried this place recently after taking in a movie nearby. The food was as good as any we've had at any "fine" seafood restaurant, but cheaper and in larger quantity. The portions are very generous, and the ingedients fresh. My husband had the Cajun tilapia and I had the bacon-wrapped cajun scallop and shrimp skewers, both were excellent. They didn't overdo the Cajun spices, which many places do...everything was seasoned just right to let the delicious seafood flavors shine. Also had a side of grilled veggie skewers, which were enormous. The service was good and our food came quickly. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is due to the limited amount of seating available. We are planning a return trip soon and are bringing friends. (Tip: save room for dessert and walk next door to Treat...a fun place with lots of different dessert options!)

We hadn't been here in a few months. So, we decided to come today. Except for the cole slaw, everything tasted lovely.( I detest cole slaw so it didn't matter to me.) Auntie ordered salmon with rice. Mommie chose catfish with brown rice. I selected Barramundi with rice. All of us chose to have our fish prepared Cajun style. We'll definitely be back.

I like the food but the cleanliness of this place has dipped in the last few months. Tables are not cleaned sufficiently and there are crumbs and bits of pieces stuck between the tables and chairs which have little grooves that food can get stuck in. I wish they did something about it. Other than that I still love this place.

Great food. I had the two taco combo. I ordered an original fish taco and a spicy cajun shrimp taco...they were amazing. Next time I'll hit them up again for Taco Tuesday. That's all folks!!

I have been to Fish Bonz a few times. So far, it is really good! I recommend the Grilled Salmon with Garlic Butter along with New England Clam Chowder. Really nice combo. And get Ricky to serve you. He helps you with all your needs. I am always certain that I will come back here soon.

I've come here so many times since they have opened. I only eat chicken or fish so Fish Bonz is a great option. I love this place and I would give them 5 stars because they are 100% deserving of it. Unfortunately I take huge issue when employees don't follow sanitation guidelines. Maybe the employee didn't know better, maybe it was gross negligence so for the sake of believing in the best in people I'll go with the latter choice. The employee was making kabobs with bare hands and FILTHY nails. Not something I will choose to order, ever. Anyways, enough with the negatives. The employees are always nice, helpful, and kind. Whatever they're doing with their hiring they have it down. They have never messed up an order and their prices match other fish joints like them dollar for dollar but I go there for the service. If you're going to see a movie it's a great and healthy option (if you choose wisely) and delicious to boot.

Went here yesterday for Taco Tuesday. Thought it was great! They have plenty of options of tacos for you to try: different kinds of fish, chicken, and shrimp. They range between $1.29-$1.99/taco. There are options to make it a meal too. Check out their menu: bit.ly/10WOLfm Between me and my husband we tried: Husband: 2 grilled chicken, seared ahi tuna, Cajun salmon. His favorite: Cajun Salmon Me: grilled shrimp, Cajun seared ahi, Cajun white ruffy, and original fish. My favorite: original and the ahi. The tacos aren't cheaply made and all fried, greasy & battered ... there is quality fish/meat in there and the fish options are mostly grilled! And it's delish. Even the tortillas are unique ... I didn't feel like a fatty eating 4 tacos! LOL. And they aren't mini lame tacos - they are a good sized taco. We both could hardly finish our tacos! We also got a side of fries - they were delish too! Not plain ... they are seasoned! Yum yum. I also liked that they had a salsa bar. Thank you! It does get crowded inside. And the line ended up being out the door - but it's well worth it. Have someone snag a table while someone else orders. I highly recommend this place! So why not 5 stars? I wasn't a fan of their sauce they put on the tacos ... it's not a deal breaker either. But it just tasted like plain old tartar sauce. Can you add some lime and seasoning to it? Make it a lil unique like the rest of your menu?

Paula had the Shrimp Skewer. She said it very good. I had the fish and scallops fry. Not so good. Frozen fish same as you get in super market freezer. Scallops were small and tasteless. Also, probably frozen. Hard to get good fish so far from the ocean. Casual dining. Order at counter. Meals then delivered. Mediocre price, mediocre quality.

AMAZING! Fresh grilled fish and vegetables and a price that won't kill you. Super tasty and fresh. I was absolutely surprised by my positive dining experience here. I wish they were closer to my home as I would likely be in there at least once per week.

My friend and I decided to try Fishbonz as we both love fresh fish. It surpassed my expectations. Everything was prepared perfectly! We both had the grilled salmon. It comes with two sides, I hade coleslaw and brown rice. The coleslaw was great, not sweet (I don't like sweet coleslaw). The brown rice didn't actually seem like brown rice, but more of a white rice maybe cooked in brown seasonings, but still good. We also had a side of the grilled zucchini skewers, which come with two skewers. The veggies were also perfect, not soft or overdone. The fish can be grilled with butter or cajon seasoning. I ordered mine cajun. The fish was grilled perfectly, not overdone at all and not overly spicy. The price is right for fresh fish cooked to perfection! They also have a condiment bar with tartar, cocktail, spicy, salsa, and other sauces for your fish/food. Two possible drawbacks- the food took a while to be ready, but it was fresh and yummy. If you are expecting a true brown rice, it is not. I will definitely return! I wanted to get a gift certificate for my dad in Orange County, but couldn't find other locations. I would like to know if there are other locations or plans to open more locations. We need one in San Pedro!

I just picked up my order and came back to work, and the order is messed up! Some kind of fried fish instead of my fried shrimp order. I thought it was fishy when I saw a worker pull out the menu to check to see what's what as she made the order. The service was slow and the employees really did not look like they knew what they were doing. Food was okay. It tasted okay but nothing to write home about.

We eat at Fish Bonz every couple of weeks (take out) due to proximity, ease of ordering if you call ahead and consistent quality. So great to have a simple seafood restaurant around the corner. We stick with the ruffy and shrimp wraps/tacos, and the salads. The "bowls" are also a great takeout option. On a recent in restaurant visit, we ordered the calimari and that was fantastic. I am not sure if they use giant squid or cuttlefish, but they don't use the small squid (rings/tentacles). Love fresh bait sized squid as well but FB calimari are thick, tender pieces perfectly fried with a lot of flavor especially with a little lemon and some hot sauce. (Holds pretty well on takeout as well).

I just finished my cajun white roughy dinner, and it was wonderful! It was actually too much to finish, so I have some for breakfast! Woo! The fish was tender and well flavored. It went well with the brown rice and the added grilled zucchini. I opted for beans instead of the cole slaw, but I didn't try them. I'll probably crack into the container in the morning. The slice of bread was also spongy and moist. The clam chowder was delightful, although it had less potatoes and clams than I would have wished. I also loved the carrot cake (I finished all of this!). Next, I want to try their taco Tuesday!

Stopped by here for dinner. Overall it was pretty good even though it didnt start the best way. When we first walked in the line was a bit long to order and only one girl was working the register. When we got up front to order she proceeded to ignore us and take a phone order. Major pet peeve of mine, I am not sure if it was the owners fault or not but you should never ignore a customer in front of you to answer the phone, it is rude....okay jumping off my high horse now. She took our order efficently and it came out very reasonable price. $19 for a fish plate, a taco plate, one drink and battered zucchini. Went and sat on the patio which is nice and enclosed. They brought out our food fairly quick and it was yummy. The sea food is very fresh which is great. The tacos are HUGE. The fish plates are ok portions not super big. I would definitely come back good food at a reasonable price.

Anything w/ their tuna or salmon is good here. They have a menu that's very similar to California Fish Grill in El Segundo. It's almost exactly the same actually. The cajun salmon salad is nice w/ two healthy salmon filets on top of mixed greens, cranberries, walnuts, and a citrus vinaigrette. The Ahi poke is always a good appetizer to share. The covered outdoor patio is nice in the summer time w/o getting burnt. Park in the south section of the lot as it can fill up around the theatre.

Had some yummy teriyaki ruffy with zuchinni spears, would definately get that again. The ahi poke was alright....I've had better and wouldn't come back here to get it. It is definately the grilled fish that is the best at Fish Bonz, in a causual atmosphere that is great for lunch in Torrance.

Downgrade in ratings with REGRET due to the Excellent FOOD but BAD CRAMPED and CLAUSTROPHOBIC layout. The logistics of the ordering and 1 cashier with LIMITED takeout pickup and having to fight other customers and/or WAIT to get tartar sauce and drinks is UNPLEASANT and INCONVENIENT! Being squeezed OUT of space to stand to wait for your takeout orders and to get sauce is a JOKE? As a customer to feel IN THE WAY of the staff is a far cry out to the owner to consider getting a small business consultant on how to maximize business and change logistics. Despite the DEEP craving for the good food here, went reluctantly many times to Rubios only to downgrade on food quality for space, time, ordering ease and convenience. When this happens, the family is VERY disappointed.

If you like California Fish Grill (I go to the one in Irvine), this place is similar. Fish is great. Would like to know more about where they source the fish though. Omar (the manager) was awesome. Some New Yorkers came to visit us (and found it cold in CA in July - go figure) and Omar was more than accommodating in turning on the heaters on the patio and making sure it was comfortable. The staff is really friendly also.

Great casual seafood place(Like CA Fish Grille).. Price is reasonable($3-$12)... Grilled, deep fried cooking styles Grilling option w/ garlic butter or cajun blackened..... Sides come with rice or fries option with cole slaw. Options: Free side bar to top off your food with salsa, tartar sauce, lemon, cilantro.. Seating: Indoor and outdoor patio(WIll be very nice during the summer..A little cold now due to time of year but they do have heat lamps and cover) Kid friendly: Yes Huge take out business as well Parking : Ample free parking but lot can get crowded on Fri/Sat nights since AMC Movie theatre in same lot.. What I get:(Tip) -Recommend go to dish here: trout..fresh clean tasting fish...Grilled with butter/garlic..Rice option Hit the side bar and get tartar sauce and salsa..Also sprinkle on some cilantro on your fish.. Side: Grilled zucchini)Top it off with some soy sauce(Delish!!) Other fish I tried: Tilapia...No flavor just ok..need to add on alot of salsa, tartar sauce... Salmon very good..just squeeze on some lemon and you are good!! Basic fish taco...One word "Tasty" .... Also: Tried Salmon salad..Very good ..Generous portion of salmon .... Clam Chowder(Love chowder) but there was just OK Ahi Poke appetizer...Decent but will not order it again... They do have -all the standard fish options...orange rouphy, salmon, catfish, tilapia .mahi mahi -various fish tacos that are tasty(top off with salsa, tartar sauce and squeeze some lemon with a sprinkle of cilantro)... -Griiled shrimp looked OK... -Grilled Lobster specials(Never seen anyone eating it) Tip: 1.Great before movie option for a quick meal since there is a AMC Theatre close by... 2.Tue there is a taco tuesday special(Have not tried it yet).... 3.Outdoor patio during summer!! 4. The only thing i come here for is their delicious ahi poke appetizer! i wish it was an actual "meal" but the appetizer is enough for me. I have tried their fish tacos and i wasnt as satisfied. pretty bland. Overall great staff, great ahi poke, a bit over priced but will continue to come in.

Great service!!!! Great food. I tried tartar sauce for the first time at this place and really enjoyed it! Also the chocolate cake was really good. The only reasons I gave it 5 stars was 2 of the 5 or 6 soda dispensers were out of syrup, which management fixed at our request and also because the order we ordered was wrong. The manager was cool about it and gave us what we wanted, eventhough we tried to eat a bit of the wrong order so we wouldnt have to raise a stink. (I really hate sending food back, I really dont need "extra ingredients" from a pissed off cook.) The manager Saved the day!!!!

If you have a hankering for Fish Grill but need something in the neighborhood, this place is a great alternative- has the almost exact same menu with all the same familiar sauces. I'm faithful to the Swai with garlic butter sauce and brown rice, and if I'm feeling crazy will order the grilled zucchini. Add some cocktail sauce and salsa and you've got magic. Service can be hit and miss. On our last visit, the girl who brought our food out was clearly in training and definitely not cut out for customer service. She seemed annoyed that we couldn't tell her who ordered what, when it IS her job to pay attention to this detail since 1) she picks up the food from the window and 2) I would assume has the order number attached to the food... What was nice though, the cashier overheard my friend talking about us being their to celebrate my birthday and after we were done eating came by and brought free cupcakes- which by the way were pretty darn good! Overall, I enjoy it here and it's fairly easy to find parking and get seated.

This place reminds me of the California fish grill in El Segundo and it turns out they have the exact same set up with the exact same menu. The fish tacos and the shrimp tacos are both appetizing. The inside feels a little cramped but the outdoor dining is quite pleasant during the day.

I love these fish market type places... Fresh grilled fish to order with tasty garlic butter. YummmmOOOHHH! Came here with one of my BFF's a month ago for dinner. Huge portions at reasonable prices. I ordered the White Roughy with my yelp check in and had enough for lunch the next day after eating only half an order. The set up is small and the staff are pretty nice as well. Consider picking up an order and bringing it home. You could even order it and tell someone else you cooked it fresh, I am sure they wouldn't be able to tell the difference. hehe

Food is AMAZING. it tastes exactly like California fish grill and the food looks the same. I ordered the white fish with beans instead of cole slaw and fries. My friend ordered the shrimp wrap which I got a bite of and tasted delicious !! My plate took a while to come out but the food was def worth it! If you're looking for affordable healthy food alternative that fills your stomach, fish bonz is the way to go!!

No bonz about it (cheesy huh?) this place is pretty fantastic. Went here for the first time with my wife after catching a movie. 7pm on a Friday and the place was a full house. Despite that, we made our way to the front of the line after checking out the menu and placed our order. The restaurant is a decent size, but kind of compact. You order in a line and then find an open table and make yourself comfortable. You get your own sodas, salsas, tartar sauce, etc., too, but the food is delivered to you using number cards. We ordered the large cup of corn chowder to start. It was nice and steamy (perfect for a cold winter's night in SoCal), full of veggies, had an excellent consistency of not too thin and not too thick, and great flavor. The corn was lightly sweet but the overall soup was nice and salty with even a little bit of a kick. An excellent soup for $4.50. My wife ordered the large shrimp plate, cajun style, with french fries and ranch dressing. The large shrimp were six butterflied jumbo prawns, perfectly cooked and seasoned, served on a bed of seasoned french fries. Fantastic taste and texture for the shrimp. Fries were good and the ranch was a little overly creamy, but still good. An excellent value for $14. I got a cajun shrimp taco, a cajun grilled white ruffy taco, and rice and beans. Both tacos were fantastic. Lots of shrimp and fish, cabbage, and a tasty cream sauce on each. They even held together well and didn't fall apart. I particularly liked how the hot and mild salsas worked when added. The rice was perfectly cooked and tasted good when mixed with the salsas, too. The beans were a little bland, but adding some salt would do the job of making them much more palatable. I'll be honest though, after the chowder, tacos, rice, and some of my wife's shrimp and fries, I had no room for anything else. All this great food for $28 where I would easily spend closer to $35 or $40 at a normal sit down restaurant. You can't beat it. We also decided to get a slice of their new chocolate fudge cake to go. In a word, delicious. Super chocolatey. Look forward to our next visit. Summary: Great food at a very affordable price. Good quantity too. Highly recommend the shrimp in any form. The cajun tacos and large shrimp plate are particularly awesome. Quality is solid despite the prices. Lots of parking. Can get pretty crowded during peak hours. Fast service. Delicious and fun. Come check this place out.

Very comparable to California Fish Grill. However, my fish was grilled way too much (it had burnt pieces that were not edible). This is definitely not something I would go out of my way for.

I never knew about this place until a friend recommended having lunch here and i'm glad we did! The name says it all! "Casual Seafood" not pretentious like other seafood places. They have a huge patio and a decent inside eating area. The food was super fresh and tasty! Their salsa bar was clean and always filled. Staff was friendly and restaurant itself was clean and tidy. Overall: I would definitely go back! Average plates were about $8 decently price for good casual food!

BEWARE!!!!!!This is a very DANGEROUS PLACE TO EAT! We ordered a kid's meal and the milk they gave us was expired. I called in to warn them about the expired milk and the manager told me that they had a few more in the fridge. She had forgotten to toss them out the night before. Luckily I checked the expiration date before giving the milk to my son. Later on, my husband FOUND A STAPLE inside the corn chowder soup! Oh my god! If you care about your health and your family, DO NOT EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT! You'd never know what you'd find in your food or if you're eating EXPIRED FOOD!!!!

You gotta go. The food is great! Try the barramundi, salmon, grilled with garlic butter, the sweet potato fries, the zucchini and the wonderful coleslaw. I thought I already had reviewed this place but I guess not. The clincher? They sell AMC movie tix for about $8 for every meal ordered and you can just walk right over and see a movie after dinner. The nearby gelato place is also good.

Have eaten there twice and the food is excellent, I highly recommend the Shrimp and Scallop skewers with garlic butter, absolutely delicious, if your in that neighborhood you should stop in, they are extremely busy during lunch but it's worth the wait ( which is not really that long)

  • Tiffany W.

Three stars because the salmon fish tacos were delish...but the service was horrible. Maybe it was really busy and around lunch time, but the cashier got our order wrong. She had to input the order twice and she still missed our side of grilled zucchini. And when I asked the waitress about it, she looked at our receipt and completely dismissed me and walked away. Another waitress Isabelle saw what happened so she ended up getting us our zucchini for no charge. Thumbs up for her. I complained to the manager and he took my number down so that when we come back we could get a free meal...but I definitely don't think I'll be back. Tip: avoid during busy hours, service sucks.

First time here, I ordered the garlic butter salmon with the grilled shrimp taco. I had really high expectations because of the pretty pictures and great reviews, but I guess I shouldn't have. The salmon was super duper dry and wasn't anywhere close to fresh and the shrimp taco honestly tasted like some sort of old weird gauze bandage. It was not good. I don't think I'll be coming back anytime soon. *shudders*

The fish is prepared deliciously and I'm full after every meal. My favorite is their trout which is really tasty. Their shrimp is also a great choice. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal here. The seating is also quite nice, outdoorsy with clear wind-shields should the day be a bit breezy. Great scene, yummy fish :)

Went here for the 1st time recently: service was great and food was great! I ordered the clam chowder, which was more of a cream. If you are more for the cream then the chunkiness of chowder, than this clam chowder is for you! However, they told me they ran out of crackers for my soup.... how can you run out of crackers!! Regardless, I still ate it and it was yumm, haha. My boyfriend ordered a Fish and Calamari basket, which was very good. The fried breading that covered the calamari and fish was very thick and crunchy. The calamari was not your usual small pieces of calamari but large portions of the squid which was still good. Overall, definitely a fan. I will be back to update once I keep visiting the place. I do not have enough of an opinion to give 5 stars just yet! But I WILL be back.

This place is pretty good. It's a casual seafood place where you can grab a quick bite if you want. Here is what I've had: Shrimp salad: very good! Shrimp tacos: good Fried scallops: good Fried white fish: ok I'll go back if I'm in the area, but I won't go out of my way to go there. California Fish Grill is the way to go if you want casual seafood dining.

Decent place to get your fish fix, as well as other seafood such as shrimp, as they have a large selection to choose from and prepared in various ways. If you have ever been to Fish Grill in Irvine, this place is pretty much the same thing, just with a different name. Place is located rather oddly. It is in the Rolling Hills Plaza, a couple feet from the AMC ticket booth, right where that weird circular spot is. I really don't know why there is a circle there rather than just a straight T-intersection but I digress. I can see that parking for this place could get difficult on the popular nights with all the movie-goers and other restaurants in the area. Luckily the weekdays seem okay as there was ample parking close to the restaurant. Inside, the place has rather nice and clean décor, with lots of seating both inside and outside in a covered canopy area. Another plus is that you can see their kitchen and the chefs grilling the fish in case you want to watch. I really like how they have a menu posted outside so that you can check out if you want to eat the type of food here before you walk in. Moreover, they also have their specials posted and are very helpful in highlighting them when you order. Their fish, at least grilled Cajun style, are on par with the other places, whereas their fish tacos, particular the ahi tuna ones, are definitely above par. Their sides such as the salad and soup aren't very good, but then again they come with the meal. I would definitely come back here for their special Taco Tuesdays where all tacos are $1.49 (I believe), otherwise, as I am not a huge fan of fish, I would probably just come when I feel like eating something lighter than the usual burger or pizza.

Fish Bonz reminds me of Fish Dish in Pasadena. The salmon is good, but my order had a puny piece compared to what my date who order the same thing got. We also tried the poke, which we will never try again. The salsa/tartar sauce bar was nicely laid out.

Fish is really good especially the Barramundi. Service is good and the garlic butter is awesome. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes good fresh seafood.

I came here with my cousin for the first time and it was amazing! We ordered the Cajun Salmon & the Garlic Butter Giant Shrimp....THEE BEST! We shared both orders. I ordered a side salad with the lime vinegarette dressing...very very tasty! My cousin ordered the skewered grilled veggies, they were juicy and flavorful. We will be definitely be coming back to try more on the menu!!

I love this place. I try to eat here at least once a week. Every single time I go I get the Cajon Salmon with brown rice. I add a little tartar sauce and its absolutely wonderful. I've been with others that have tried the various items on the menu and have never heard a bad word about the place. Great food, food value. Gotta love it.

I love fish and especially sushi and fish like seared ahi. Upon going up to see the USS Iowa museum in San Pedro, I was looking for a seafood restaurant in the area. I had heard about FishBonz and decided to give it a try. The setting is in a shopping area, but plenty of space to park. It is separated as a single business in the center and aesthetically nice from the outside. The interior was spotless, including the restroom. The order at the counter staff was pleasant and helpful in ordering. Granted seared ahi does not take long to "cook", but the order was delivered quickly. The portion size is very good and the quality was excellent. In this day of seafood costing an arm and a leg(or a gill and a fin...LOL) the cost was very reasonable. Next time in the harbor area from Orange County, I will stop again. I have suggested it to the Porsche Club to have as an eating place when we go to the area.

Chipotle meets H Salt. This place was a good surprise. It's really good if you want something good and relatively fast before a movie. It's like Chipotle because you order at a counter and they bring the food to your table. They have an AYCD soda fountain and they have a good condiment bar where the salsa is very good and they stock it with fresh chopped cilantro and lemons. I had the fried fish and scallops with fries. Good crunchy batter. The fries are also good and crispy. The other items in our party also looked good. I wasn't expecting this place to be this good. I was expecting mall fast food, but what I got was better like you would expect from a quality chain like Chipotle.

Just got back from lunch! Shrimp tacos are outstanding, forget what I said in the last review; I wish I could eat these every day. I wish they had Fishbonz by where I live, Hancock Park.

I went to this restaurant last weekend. My friends had all told me about it. So of course i had to try. It was seriously the best seafood i have ever eaten. The food is great. The service was amazing. Everyone was friendly. I wish it was closer to my house so that i can go every day for lunch.

When we want a fish dinner and don't want to drive to Newport to the Crab Cooker this is our new go to place. Each entree we tried to date have been great, I especially like the salmon dinner with sweet potato fries. We tried Taco Tuesday and a sampling for shrimp and fish tacos which were delicious. Food come up fast and staff is usually pretty helpful. Tables fill up quick so a tip is to have someone place the order and the other grab a table.

Ate here with some friends after watching a movie on Sunday. It was pack with families and young couples. The menu is decent I'd like to note the butter sauce is a little strong so I recommend to try the fish with out it first. I ordered the salmon with brown rice the portions are not as generous as I thought for the price two small pieces of salmon and little salad and some brown rice. The fish is not out of this world but acceptable coming from a fisherman family I'm a little spoiled believe me when I say really fresh fish has a texture to it you'll never forget. My friend tried the mahi mahi which I found a little rough with little or no taste except for the sauce. Also I know it was pack but took like 10-15 minutes till we got our food. Overall good casual hangout next to the movie theater but for the price and taste its nothing but average. Price Range $2-14 depending on what you get .

This place is really good. It's very similar to California Fish Grill, menus are almost exactly the same. I really like the battered Shrimp tacos and the fries. I'll be trying the Grilled Mahi Mahi soon. The only thing that bugs me is how small, the location is. Although it's small the location is much more convenient than California Fish Grill. You can always call in and they have curbside pickup!

I've tried the place only once so far but looking forward to going back. Decent prices for the quality of food. Someone who I assume was the owner was handing out some samples and was kind enough to take the time out to explain what Barramundi was. I went with the recommendation and was very pleased. Service was great too!

Love this place, it's cheap and the fish is delicious. I always get the cajun grilled Mahi Mahi or one of their salads. You can upgrade to brown rice for $0.50 and I always add a side of grilled zucchini. If you order if to go, they don't start grilling your fish, etc. until you get there. The sweet potato fries are good and so are the fish tacos. My family probably eats there about once a week since it's so healthy. We just ate there today and ate on the patio since the weather is so nice and it was SOO busy. There was a line out the door the entire time so they must be doing something right!

service sucks, foods good. two stars because I caught the server picking her teeth and then grabbed an order and some plastic forks and brought them to a customer. Yuck! also there food makes my husband feel sick from time to time. one time fish was way under cooked.

I don't live locally but am up in Torrance about twice a month to visit my mom (grew up there). We love FishBonz and my mom doesn't like many places, so it's nice to find a place we all like. The food is good, plentiful, good value. We all love the calamari, and it's cooked well, sweet, not chewy My go-to was the cajun salmon salad. Today I tried the ahi taco sliders and they were great. They come on a zigzag steel thing with slots for each taco. This is fine, but they need to give you a plate, as the taco shells split on the first bite. I had to use my hand as a plate, then eat what fell out of the taco from my hand. Their staff is just ok, not rude, but not really friendly or personable at all. I have to drop off my mom in front, as she can't walk far. Someone there always has a very fine car parked/on display in front, making it difficult to drop someone off in the circular area in front of the restaurant. Those issues are small, we like the restaurant a lot and I can highly suggest it. Thank You!

I love this restaurant! It's the perfect place for me to go after a workout for some wonderful recovery food-my normal dish is the Salmon (cajun style) with brown rice and cole slaw! Great food, great prices, I love the covered patios, it's great!

it was my second time going last night and this time i ordered the asian shrimp salad since i knew we were going to treat afterwards. still, my salad was HUGE! i guess it's a good thing that their portions are very generous. The dressing was good, though it's probably not house-made. they were very very generous with their shrimp portion on the salad though, so star for that. i feel like they've expanded their menu options since that last time i went so that's good too. i'd go back again.

I've been several times since Fish Bonz opened. It's been a little over a year, and I think they're just now getting through their first year growing pains.....service is great, food is very good and fresh. Employees could learn to be a little more flexible with special requests, they seem afraid when I need to change something on my order. Other than that, I recommend Fish Bonz to all my friends, it's a great place to eat and hang out! Oh, just don't eat outside, as they still allow smoking around people who are trying to enjoy a meal.

  • Redondo B.

Don't bother... I kept giving this place a second chance but no more. First off, I asked if this Asian guy was one of the owners and he said he was and I complimented one of the employees. He made fun of the employee in front of me refusing to give her any credit for doing a good job. The rest of the employees are useless, unfriendly, and don't care. Next, fish is always oily and I mean way beyond the natural fish oils. They use an oily baste and my napkins are always covered in oil when I drained my tacos. I order them with light oil and it's still the same. Repeatedly have had bad experiences here. I order my fries well done and they came out cold and uncooked. I asked for another order and it never came. I brought it up to the cashier and she looked like a deer in the headlights and had no idea what to do. I said forget it and walked out. On the way out, I told a guy who was looking at the menu outside not to bother and he left. This place will be out of business in a year or less.

Went there last week for the first time. I had been turned-off by the fish skeleton logo on the building sign. Then I read the Yelp reviews and thought I'd better give this place a try. Loved it, and will return next time I go to the AMC. Hmmm, maybe tomorrow.

This place is impeccable! Michael and Derek are doing terrific job with this so-called "casual seafood" place but, believe me, with superlative quality and service. This place is, quality wise, far away from those small seafood places in your neighborhood. This is a real treat for your palate! I had a chance, on numerous occasions, to enjoy their cajun Mahi-Mahi, tasty Salmon, brown rice, refreshing coleslaw and great location in the middle of Roling Hills Plaza, withing walking distance from PCH and Crenshaw Blvd. in Torrance. Outside patio is my favorite! But do not miss their european style seafood café athmosphere inside this unbelievable venue, either. I highly recommend this place for extremely affordable quick lunch, casual dinner and quick and healthy bite that you'll compare with those pricy seafood venues and be extremely satisfied with your choice. Go to FishBonz and experience their professionalism, quality and charisma. Great addition to Torrance! Way to go!

Very disappointed in the service. the girl taking my order was in the middle of a conversation with another female worker about her pants falling down, showing her ass. so she's trying to pull up her pants while taking my order - which she got wrong. at the table i got the mahi with garlic butter sauce all over it and in the rice. i would never had ordered garlic butter in my life. asked to get the cajun instead - got the same plate back still drenched in garlic butter. some of it scraped off the fish and about a full cup of cajun spices smothered on top. thinking i would suck it up, i tried to just go ahead and eat the fish. needless to say, it was horrible. couldnt even finish it. too hot to eat from the excess cajun spices. not to mention the rice still drenched in a gross garlic butter. the little slice of bread was the only thing i enjoyed on that plate. i really liked the idea of a healthy fish place nearby. i doubt i'll be back. not a huge surprise the order was wrong, they have a couple of teenagers working the cash register. if your order comes totally wrong, dont expect them to fix it properly. that would require too much work for them. my suggestion, is to have them repeat the order back to you before leaving the counter.

Had a delicious dinner at Fish Bonz last night : salmon teriyaki bowl. I also tried the sweet potato fries; simply yummy! It was a lovely night and eating out on the patio was a real pleasure! Quiet and romantic. The staff is always friendly and efficient. What a hospitable new spot with great food ! Been there 3 times in the less than 3 weeks it's been open. Highly recommend it for great tasting food at reasonable price; health conscious; excellent service; great atmosphere; easy parking; convenient location and much more!

Here's the deal... Fish Bonz is a place that I recommend visiting, even if it's only one visit (which I don't believe will be the case). When it comes seafood that's freshly grilled or fried, the food is above average. Additionally, the restaurant is clean and cozy. When I break down the rating, I give Fish Bonz 4 stars for the food and for the accommodations, with 1 caveat - originality... I give them zero stars for originality, and here's why... Fish Bonz can be considered a twin of the California fish Grill chain, in regards to the menu; and a cousin to the Chipotle Mexican Grill chain, in regards to the decor. Even though this is a new restaurant and this was my first visit, I felt as if I've been there many times before. When I took a look at the menu, I knew exactly what to order and how to order it. It is the spitting image of the California Fish Grill; from the sign on the counter that provides a brief description of the fish on the menu, to the method in which they toss the parsley accentuated french fries in a large stainless steel bowl, from the tomato based beans served in a Styrofoam dish, to the actual taste of the food. Granted, there are subtle differences between the two establishments; but not enough to warrant a unique identity for Fish Bonz. One could say that if you are a fan of California Fish Grill, you'll be a fan of Fish Bonz. The pricing at Fish Bonz is acceptable, however, the inside seating is a little cramped. When I walked between the two tables positioned along the wall, I had to be careful not to run my butt along the top of the plates of the people sitting next to me. When you are in the mood for an abbreviated seafood menu (no steamed entrees, like crab, lobster, shell fish, etc.), Fish Bonz should do the trick. Be sure to read the additional reviews for "Fish Bonz" (not FishBonz as it is here), as they may help in your decision making. One review in particular provides some insight as to why this restaurant is so similar to California Fish Grill... Happy Eating!

The food was ok, what I really disliked was there was a guy there. I think he was the manager, but I think he was the owner's brother. He was just a distraction. He didn't know how to take orders, started to take our order then called someone to finish it because he didn't know what he was doing. He seemed like he had ADD, he was on the cell phone alot and then he went about "fishing" for any good-looking women both employees and customers. He didn't let the employees do their job. The owner needs to get rid of the excess baggage; he's pulling down the business before it even gets started. Though the food was ok, that manager is an eye sore, I hesitate to go back.

Stopped in a few days ago, hadn't been in the area for awhile. Saw that they have some new items. I tried the "Seared Ahi Tacos", just delicious! We also had 2 orders of the crabcakes. These were full of crab, we really couldn't detect "filler" like we've had at other places. My friend had the salmon salad, 2 large pieces of salmon with crispy greens. For this salad, 1 piece of the salmon would have been sufficient! I saw that they now have a promotion on Sunday's for LOBSTER! The server said they just order a small amount from their supplier so get there early! I'm looking forward to that the next time I'm in the area! Our server was very friendly and our food came out quickly! We like this place!

I luv this place. I am SOOOOOOOO glad they are in the parking lot of the building where I work. When they first opened up... I was there the 2nd day trying them out. The food is FABULOUS. I've tried other casual seafood grills in the southbay and this one wins hands down. I luv the grilled fish with the garlic butter...and brown rice. It makes my mouth melt. And the side order of scallops is yummy and very tasty. The soups are awesome and so are is the fried zuchini appetizer. The only thing I would tell them to work on is when you order by phone, they seem to either not be listening because u have to repeat your order alot and sometimes when u order in person and on the phone...they seem alittle gruff. Need to lighten up on the attitude towards customers people. But hey, sometimes its hard to be nice when you're busy.. everyone has off days. But mostly they are pleasant and I have no problem ordering take out or eating in at this place. Just wish it was a bigger place. lol

I go for lunch at least once a week. The service has been good and the food has always been excellent. Menu is similar to other fast casual fish joints in the So. Bay but the food is superior to the others my humble opinion. Large portions and have yet to experience and overcooked piece of fish.

Yummy. The place is always busy, and the service can be a bit slow. Also, small and cramped. Food is almost on par with California Fish Grill in Gardena.

it was a little more casual than I thought it would be, but I guess that's perfect for a place right next to AMC. sweet potato fries were great, and the ruffy wrap was pretty tasty. even though you order at the counter, the guy who brought our food out kept asking how we were and gave us really great service.

  • Keith S.

Two dinner plates for under $20, a good value. With this in mind, the food was decent for the price. The mahi mahi was grilled perfectly but it was over seasoned. The little fried bay scallops were overcooked and not particularly good. An OK place to catch a quick lunch/dinner before a movie.

Food was good but was pricey for a "casual" restaurant. 2 soft drinks, salmon salad and ahi tuna lunch was $30. I think I would have preferred sitting on the marina at the Cheescake Factory for about the same price. Also, it would have been helpful to have someone behind the counter who actually listened to you. My hubby ordered ahi tuna but got Cajun ahi tuna. Oh well.

This wonderful restaurant is a life saver for me and my husband. I give it a 5 star rating for quality of food and taste. The owner and employees are very friendly and willing to please. We get salt free cooking upon request with no problems. I have almost stopped cooking because we'd rather go to FishBonz! Also, fish is healthy. This is a winning business if ever there was one. Thanks FishBonz. Janet C

Been here multiple times because the food is great. Plus you can even get movie tickets here for cheaper than the theater price. Every time I order something I can't never complain. The poke tacos are a must try. Scallops wrapped in bacon make my mouth watery. Just make sure if you go gotta hit a right time cause if not you will be outside the building waiting in line.

Definitely come here if you're craving a really well-made fish taco. They pretty much get everything right; perfectly fried fish, awesome corn tortillas, fresh cabbage, and a great white sauce to top it all off. If it ain't Tuesday, go for the meal; you get 2 original fish tacos with rice and beans which aren't as amazing as the tacos, but complement them rather nicely. Otherwise, you can come in on their Taco Tuesdays and get them a la carte for like $1.69 (it was definitely under 2 bucks). I like that they grill the fish right behind the registers, it's definitely reassuring to know that I can see my seafood being cooked to order rather then having something that was pre-made. My friend had the white ruffy in a sandwich and even I was surprised at how large the sandwich was. I would also recommend the fried zucchini; well battered and fresh; not the mushy fried zucchini you would get if it were frozen. The only thing that I didn't enjoy were the fries; those I'm pretty sure were frozen and ended up being really sub-par compared to everything else. Really awesome food though and at very reasonable prices. Definitely coming back on a Tuesday for some more fish tacos and fried zucchini.

I've given this place multiple chances. Today was the last straw... Each time I've been here, it was for lunch. I would get here usually before the big rush so it's not crowded. First problem I have with this place is the attitude of the cashier. Even McDonalds will give you a more friendly, warm welcome. These people stare at you while you try to figure out what to get, clearly impatient. Never once they recommended anything or offered their specials. They just give you a stare like, hurry up, read the damn menu and order. Their food seems to be hit or a miss. I don't care for their cajon fare. Everything taste the same. I usually get some combination of their grilled shrimp/lobster/bacon wrapped scallop with garlic butter sauce. The issue is that their soggy cole slaw, which isn't anything special, comes on a same plate as your main course and fries (or rice) They put the butter sauce in a small cup but by the time they bring it to you, half of the sauce is spilled all over your plate. You end up with a very soggy fries, main course and more soggy, bland cole slaw. Everything is just a buttery, soggy mess. This afternoon, I took my son for the first time for early dinner. We got there little after 5pm, right before the rush. After ordering, we saw that the line was out the door. Glad we got here before the crowd! So I thought. We sat outside and waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. After about 25-30 min, I asked one of the servers what had happened to our order. Turns out, they somehow lost our order. They apologized, offered free fries while we waited so they can quickly process our order. 10 min later, they bring our order. My hungry 7 year old is happily devouring his shrimp taco. I happy ate my grilled shrimp skewer. Then I got to the lobster. The lobster was half cooked. So I take the plate back inside to complain that my food isn't cooked. Again, they apologized and offered more fries. I told them I don't want another order of fries, what I want is my meal. At this point, it's been almost an hour since we got there. I've only had fries and some shrimp. I was hoping to be home by that hour... They offered to cook something else real quick. At that point, I just didn't care. I wanted to get the heck out of there and back home. Got my whatever food they cooked up real quick, ate and left. Oh they offered me comp meal for next time. However, I doubt I'll ever be going back there again... I've wasted enough time and money.

Love getting the salmon here! Everything taste fresh and fish is never dry. Tacos weren't the most amazing, but still decent. I'd just stick to the regular plates though. Service is always fast. I'm never left waiting too long and its nice to sit outside by the fountain. Great place for lunch on a sunny day!

I absolutely love this place for my weekly salmon fix! They always get it right. So fresh and delicious, a family favorite! My husband loves the ahi tuna and fresh veggies (to raw for my taste) makes him happy every time. Service is always friendly as well.

Impressive service, a good Fish Taco, a zesty Corn Chowder, and a nice movie ticket deal make me a fan of FishBonz. Tip for self: Plan to see more movies on Taco Tuesday nights. Olivia Z. and I stopped in Saturday night on the way to AMC across the parking lot. FishBonz is similar to California Fish Grill or Malibu Fish Grill with casual dining and semi-fast grilled fish plates. What makes it better is the customer-centric service, a small patio, and a Yelp Check-in Deal for $1 off the house specialty Grilled Swai White Ruffy Plate. * Swai White Ruffy ($7.99) - White Ruffy is the "company" name that produces the fish. It is not White Roughy, but actually Swai (farm-raised, freshwater Pangasius Catfish from Southeast Asia). Even with a $1 discount, I won't be getting this one again. The gummy texture was kind of icky. Neither of us liked it. (2 stars) * Grilled Catfish ($9.99) - Served with a Garlic Butter Sauce, this was the better of the two grilled fish entrees. It was ok and went well with Brown Rice and the Coleslaw. Might try it again and might not. (3 stars) * Fried Fish Taco ($2.69) - This city is full of fish tacos and this one stood out with a sweet cream sauce counterbalanced by a Corn Tortilla. It felt like a great deal compared to the grilled fish plates and will be an awesome deal on Taco Tuesdays at $1.49. (4 stars) * Bowl of Corn Chowder ($4.49) - By far, this was the most flavorful discovery at FishBonz. It's served in a styrofoam cup with plastic spoons. Despite the presentation, the Corn Chowder was an unexpected blend of spices, corn, cream, and veggies. (4.5 stars) If you are planning to catch a movie at AMC, then FishBonz offers a good deal to get "Gold Tickets" (like sold at Costco) for just $8 per $10 spent. Since our bill was over $20, we got 2 tickets for $16 and then walked over to AMC to catch Hunger Games: Catching Fire. If you are looking to win your own hunger game with your stomach at a reasonable price then FishBonz Casual Seafood Grill in Torrance is convenient.

Great fresh ingredients, huge portions and very family friendly and casual. I tried doing the whole paleo no carb diet and this place really helped. The salads are really good, I mean like really good! I usually get the salmon salad(the one with feta) but get catfish or swai instead) with a side of beans. They have huge portions of fish but the salad itself is kind of small. But with the beans It's more than enough to fill you up. I love this place. I stop by for lunch all the time. I never get tired of it. There are so many options the tacos are amazing and so is the clam chowder.

  • Kim H.

I always loved this place ever since it opened up a few years back! My family and I always stop by here before watching a movie or simply eating dinner here. The food here is awesome! Their signature white ruffy dish is really good! I always get the garlic butter sauce with the rice, and the portion is really big! The fish is very light but has a great smoky flavor! The clam chowder here is also really tasty-very generous portions! And, they have nice sweet potato fries!! The $1 off white ruffy coupon (from yelp, of course) can be helpful sometimes! This place can get a little crowded as it's located in a pretty popular shopping/movie plaza, so be aware of lines! But definitely this place is worth a try at least once!

More than a year ago, I decided to stop eating at Fish Bonz after repeated bad incidents. Once or twice, I found a long HAIR within my food. Once I even found a jagged piece of random, thick PLASTIC in my food. Also, the food would almost always take a long while to get to us. On top of that, they would occasionally have screw ups and miscommunications in the kitchen and they'd have to remake my food, delaying it even more. I don't know why I didn't stop eating there sooner. Anyway, today something possessed me to give them another shot. I'm frustrated with myself that I did. My food took a long time to come out, and when it did, it was burnt. One side was so badly burnt that it was inedible. I'm still confused how a cook/server can look at the burnt food and think it's okay to serve a patron that. It also didn't help that the server going around had a miserable expression on her face the whole time. The only reason I give this place 2 stars and not 1 is because the food (when cooked properly) is actually very tasty. They have a lot of good, healthy choices and everything I've tried I've really liked. It's really too bad, because I would be a regular at Fish Bonz if it weren't for the repeated awful experiences. Now (I hope) I don't plan on ever returning.

Love the Cajun swai plate. Fast service and ample outdoor seating. They are just missing wine.

Took a chance from all the decent reviews but still kept the not so good in the back of my mind. Ordered the shrimp taco plate and my husband the salmon plate. Standard combo with rice, beans and drink. Bland. Plain. Boring city! Really was expecting more. Food was cooked fine but just really lacked any flavor. First and last time eating here. Way better other options out there.

Was ready to head to L'Amande French Bistro and indulge in a Croque Monsieur and Chocolate Croissant but felt I should do the right thing and eat some Omega 3 rich freshly prepared fish. What a disapointment!! The crab cakes were so dry and over fried, the yam fries mushy, my friends Fish n Chips over battered and fish bland. The Clam Chowder was weak and had more potatoes than clams. Outdoor seating was nice. Weekday afternoon very crowded but service was polite and delivery to table quick. Recommend only for those who think Mrs. Paul Fish Sticks are delish. Sigh.

Average - order at the cashier window - get a number to place on stands at your table - sit down to wait for them to bring your food to you - kinda place. I tried my friends' better choice of orders because their food came out first. My friend ordered the grilled swai and it came with cole slaw and bread. The swai melted in your mouth. The cole slaw was light and just right. My other friend ordered the poke appetizer and that was my first ever taste of poke but it was good. It's like marinated raw fish, reminded me of sushi without the rice but much tastier. I ordered a grilled shrimp wrap with brown rice instead of white rice and sauce on the side. Order came out as specified but some of the brown rice was so hard and overcooked and too dry to chew I thought my chomper teeth had chipped at one point. The "wrap" was more of a burrito because it was mostly brown rice and shrimp. There were a few diced tomatoes but wraps should have more vegetables. They have an extensive salsa bar with fresh tomato salsa, mild/hot/spicy salsa, chopped cilantro, tartar sauce, lemon wedges, cocktail sauce, malt vinegar... Which totally made up for the sad wrap I ordered. Who doesn't love condiments?

Price is on point and the food is fresh and good. I've ordered several items on the menu and I've enjoyed all of them. I order grilled vegetables on the side because most of the entrees come with rice and bread only. The grilled vegetables are sweet and delicious and fresh. It's simple, fast, and not junky fish.

I love this place! Awesome food. Their fish tacos are one of the best in the area. My other favorites are the poke sliders, and their ruffy fish and chips. . And you can't go wrong with their taco Tuesday specials..

Tasty - feels healthy, I usually get zucchini instead of rice, although the rice is perfectly healthy as well. I like the Cajun spice, but the garlic butter tastes amazing - though a bit more indulgent. Great price, a sizeable tilapia filet with rice, bread and coleslaw is like $7. And for every $10 spent, you can buy discounted AMC tickets for $8. The service is fast and the staff is super nice!

This place is the worst! Found a hair in my food and when I brought it up the attention of the server she laughed and said' haha that's the second one today!' Really? That's not funny, will never eat there again!

Decided to give it another chance since I was really craving fish tacos and the other place I went to wasn't cutting it. Went with the original fish tacos and man am I a satisfied customer. Much better portion than last time and the tacos were delicious. Really glad I decided to give this place another chance. I am definitely going to come back and get the tacos. Only 4 stars though because of the inconsistency from the last time I came but this visit was 100x better. The workers started off a little shaky with me but turned out to be really friendly. Overall a satisfying lunch.

I came here with the bf because I wanted grilled shrimp on a stick... We ordered the Hawaiian Ahi Poke ($6.99), the Surf & Turf ($11.99), and the Fresh Tilapia ($9.99). The Hawaiian Ahi Poke comes with tortilla chips! It was pretty good, except I felt the chips were a tad bit oily. The Surf & Turf was a tad disappointing. I suppose it's my fault for ordering such an item at a Seafood Grill. I asked for my filet mignon medium, but it was pretty burnt. The shrimp was also burnt to the point where I could only taste the burnt part on some of the shrimp. I chose the garlic butter but I couldn't taste the garlic butter at all! The coleslaw was good & the fries were okay as well. I guess I had high expectations. My boyfriend finished off his tilapia though and he said it was delicious! He got his with rice instead of fries. We sat outside and at first, I thought it was pretty sweet that we got a seat right next to the bushes and the fountain. Nope... There are numerous bugs (mostly flies) flying around the outdoor area and we spent most of our time protecting our food from these pesky beasts. It made eating a hassle and I hated that I couldn't take my eyes off my food even for a second. Overall, it was okay. Dunno if I'd be back, especially at these prices...

The $1 off from yelp is applicable for the ruffle plate only. Decent portion for $7.99 . Drinks are self serve $1.99. You order at the front and if you choose to dine in, they give you a number and place it on your table and they deliver your food in taco baskets . French fries were crispy. The Cajun sauce on the ruffy fish was mild not spicy.

Fish Bonz is the name, but fish bones ain't their game. I had a craving for fish today, so I dragged some of my friends to some casual seafood fare. We arrived at around 12:40, and the line was out the door. Then again, the inside is quite small, so it wasn't too bad. The line never got shorter-- a testament to this place's popularity and food! I would have loved to sit outside. Alas, we had to be back by 1:30, so we decided to take our meals to go. I'm a little upset that my order specifically seemed to take longer. Even though I ordered before my friends, my meal came out last. They claimed it was because I ordered a sandwich. What? Nevertheless, I really enjoyed my white ruffy sandwich with garlic butter and rice. It's a pretty good deal at $6.99 with the amount of food you get. Yay lunch specials! Having come here times before, I recommend any of the fish with garlic butter instead of the cajun. I also like their rice. I know this might sound offensive, but it's one of the few "white people" rice that I like. The friend scallops are also quite delicious. They're small and sweet! There's not many places where you can get quality seafood at quality prices. Fish Bonz does all this with a casual flare--the atmosphere screams casual--putting everyone at ease and ready for a good time.

Hopefully corporate management actually reads this. Customer service was definitely lacking today. Although the employee taking orders was okay, she was a bit sarcastic to a lady that just entered and was looking at the menu. The employee yelled across to her, making the rest of the people dining in look up at them. Then a different lady walked in not knowing where the menus were, and the employee was like "no over there, no there, no there" over and over again!! Yelling across to the poor lady... Why not just walk to 10 feet and just show her?? Somebody complained that her food wasn't warm, so one of the employee's told the guy that was cooking ... And he shouted "muy caliente!" I guess to say that it's already hot? (And I think everyone understood him) I thought that was kind of rude. The person that complained about her food ended up asking for the manager. The manager appeared from no where and helped her make sure the guy was warming up her food and apologized to the customer. Then the manager returned to the back. (It was quite busy and I thought she should have stayed out front to supervise the quality/quickness of service) THEN the MOST annoying, were the guys working there. They were making a lot of noise in the back, then when finally came out, kept banging all the utensils around, dropping things on the floor, And making drum rolls on the counter! It was a nuisance!! Especially when there were still a bunch of people waiting for their food, I don't think the customers appreciated their casual demeanor. The food was 4+ stars, but The management needs a reality check. People will stop going there based on poor service.

Love this place. Fish at a cheap price. Sounds too good to be true. I usually order the white ruffy plate Cajun style with garlic sauce on the side. White ruffy-5 the Cajun and garlic sauce combination just melt in your mouth. Plus the zucchini strips are grilled and really good as a substitute for the rice. I've had their catfish and salmon tacos which ate also pretty good. I would recommend trying the tacos on Tuesdays so you can sample various ones to figure out what suits you the best. Service is usually on point and everyone there is friendly. Highly recommend this place.

This place no doubt has delicious grilled fish dishes. Their food taste fresh and they give you a generous amount of food. The only downfall is that they were skimpy on the Fish and Chips, they only give you 3 pieces and they were not that big. Other than that, you can order a White Ruffy plate which is $7.99 and you get the fish, fries, cabbage salad and a slice of a loaf bread. Also this place is the kind of place where you order at the counter and they bring you the food to your table. Make sure you sign up for their loyalty card to accumulate points. Every dollar is a point. Even if you don't go there, it's better than nothing.

Battered Shrimp tacos are my fave. Clam chowder is pretty amazing as well. The only complaint is that if you order to go - it takes FOREVER. Defn call in ahead so you don't have to wait.

I've given this restaurant 2 chances and both times left extremely disappointed. The first time I came, I was interrupted in the middle of my order to take a phone order. The cashier was rude about the whole situation and acted like nothing had happened. The second time I went, my fish was still frozen on the inside. I brought this to the attention to one of the employees and they told me to go up to the cashier to change my order. When I explained this to the cashier, she gave me an irritated look. At no point did a single person apologize for giving me food that was unsafe to be served. They acted like they were doing me a favor my replacing my food which would have made me sick if I had consumed. This place has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Everyone seems to hate their job and the food is not good enough to tolerate the shabby service.

So my friend mentioned anime expo to this cute girl working at GameStop and she just so happened to like going to that convention. We had a great conversation for like five minutes. I just regretted not getting her number because girls like that are hard to come by. Well anyways... Fish Bone Grill is a great place to kick it with friends. Definitely go for taco Tuesdays, they have good deals on fish tacos and my Evo friend here is a regular and he loves every moment he steps in the door. So when you can, swing by here and have a blast!!

Quick Tip: Figure out what you want to order before you get there. Cashier line moves quickly and you don't want to be the holdup. (+4) Pros Quick service GRILLED fish tacos are the way to go Mom loved the ahi poke w/ chips - not too salty Reasonably priced seafood and proportions (-0.5) Cons I've tried most things from the fryer and although I'm pretty happy with the proportions, I've always had problems with the fries on the stale side despite what other reviewers claim Although they've expanded their seating, you likely won't find a seat during peak lunch hours Bottom Line: I like this place; Yes I would recommend this place to a friend

Fantastic fish tacos. I had the original (fried) and DH had the ruffy. Perfect proportions of fish to "al dente" roasted corn tortilla, crunchy lettuce and mild salsa. The rice and beans side were also excellent. Not too salty, and very flavorful. We'll definitely be back.

I don't understand why after I wait in the line. Do I get charged at another totally separate area. Where I have to wait for the cashier to write down my order. And tell me I should have called it in if I wanted take out. I waited in line like everyone else. I would think my order would go the same expect for the fact I wanted it in a "to go bag". This is confusing and looks from people like I asked for something out or the ordinary are out of your control but I'm just saying. This is a busy spot M-F for lunch so slowing down the line sucks. If your going to have a separate line for "take out" cool but some more information would make things clear when ordering. There is one sign that says "ORDER HERE" AND the other says "TAKE OUT ORDERS PICK UP HERE" IT'S CONFUSING. And TO TOP IT ALL OFF. MY FOOD IS COLD. I WAITED FOR MY ORDER 20MINS. AND WHEN I ASKED IF MY FOOD WAS READY THE MANAGER TOLD ME IT WOULD BE A COUPLE OF MINUTES. That was not true. Becuz my food was sitting above your back cash register. I'm Not HAPPY WITH THIS EXPERIENCE TODAY.

Ordered the battered and grilled shrimp tacos. The grilled tacos weren't that good but the battered tacos were pretty good. I'm not a big fan of the tortillas so be warned if you don't like it. The clam chowder is also quite appetizing. Not a bad choice before your meal. Overall it's a cool little spot but I think if I come back I'll try something different.

If I was dilligent about checking in on yelp, I would probably be the queen by now. You can't really go wrong with their garlic butter fish plates (rice, fries, salad take your pick). The cajun sauce can be hit or miss, some days it's a lot saltier than others. I personally prefer a really thin corn tortilla with my tacos so I can't say theirs are my fav but if you have to try one, the battered shrimp taco does not disappoint. They have Taco Tuesdays after 4pm. It's a really popular spot for lunch with coworkers but service is pretty fast so it doesn't cut into your lunch hour that bad. Also, I'm a fan of their tuna poke with chips. The portion is enough to be a light meal.

After coming out of the movie it was raining pretty good so we decided to just have dinner their! Yea sure we've passed it many times but all I can say is thank you rain! We really enjoyed it all, the fried calamari, grilled Mahi Mahi the fish tacos the service and prices were all winners! Well needless to say we won't wait until it's raining to go back.

Just ordered togo from here and my brother found 2 different pieces of hairs (one blonde and one short black) in his mahi mahi plate!! So fucking gross!! I also ordered a sear ahi tuna entre for myself, and it was soooo raw i took 2 bites and threw it away. Never coming here AGAIN!

I really should have written a review for Fish Bonz a long long time ago. We eat there at least once a month. The value is excellent as well as the consistent quality of both the food and service. I usually get the original Fish Taco plate and my wife gets the grilled white-fish. AND we always share a large clam chowder. Maritza's fish tacos (in San Diego) are still my favorite but that clam chowder puts Santa Monica Seafood Company's to shame (and for a lot less money too). But it's some of the little things that they get right that really makes the difference. The beans, the coleslaw, the fluffy rice pilaf. They do an "all around" great job. And the VALUE! Seafood's expensive right? Not here. For under $30 two people can have a very nice seafood dinner. The next time you're in Rolling Hills you should check it out. Eat more seafood. It's good for you.

First time coming here was yesterday around 3:00PM. It wasn't crowded. Clean venue. Parking isn't a problem; free parking everywhere. I had their lunch special: $6.99 Mahi Mahi Sandiwch that came with brown rice and cole slaw. The price is great since the portions were pretty generous. I really liked the taste of the brown rice. Normally, I don't like brown rice because I grew up eating white rice but the way they flavored it, although very subtle, made it taste good. The coleslaw was average; I don't really like coleslaw, so that might be why I thought that. Also ordered the fried calamari which are pretty big and cut into strips. It was crispy and tasted good. All in all, good food. Tip: Try to come during lunch to try their lunch specials.

Love this place.... I usually go here when I want healthier foods and crave for seafoods. My favorites are the grill salmon with the butter garlic sauce and fish tacos. You can get this with rice, fries or salads or other fixings. Their fish tacos are yummy and fresh. Always get it when I come here. Definitely come back :). Their services are great as well.

I've always been a fan of California Fish Grill, which you can find all over the place, so when Fish Bonz opened, I was hoping for something comparable. So far, I've been quite pleased. My go-to fish is the trout, which they do quite well here. Honestly, everything pretty much tastes exactly the same as it does at California Fish Grill, if you're familiar with how that tastes. The cajun seasoning at this place is slightly spicer than California Fish Grill, which doesn't bother me much. I always like getting my fish with cajun and garlic butter on the side, half/half fries and rice. Satifsfying! My guilty pleasure here are the fried scallops. They're the small kind, but still like them. Five stars for an affordable seafood dinner that's quite tasty for a casual dining restaurant.

Great Fresh Food. If you are on a diet or just want a better alternative to "FAST FOOD", then this place is GREAT! For an Appetizer I had some sort of Ahi poke mini tacos, OMG! Big flavor, Big satisfaction! But it doesn't stop there. For my meal I ordered the Surf and turf special for the weekend which is a Filet Mignon skewer with red onion and bell peppers and also a shrimp skewer. Comes with your flavor grilled preference of Cajun or Garlic Butter. I got the Garlic butter to the side. Your choice of rice or French fries. Of Course I got the fries in addition to a side of their AWESOME grilled Zucchini (two slices). Poured the garlic butter over everything and it was Simply HEAVEN! I will be back soon as I return to the movies for my pre movie meal. Btw that special for the weekend was only $11.99 #WIN

All in all, the best casual place I have visited. my wife and I have been to this place several times and we really enjoy it. food is always fresh and the service is outstanding. To top it all off the prices are amazingly affordable and the portions are very generous.

Battered shrimp combo with soda... or the grilled one is good! (Wish they could put more shrimp than cabbage) (: there are a little bit of tables in the inside.. they have more outside. Love their menu, so delicious ! And their cashiers are really nice !

Came here with my coworker for lunch because we wanted to know what everybody was raving about. Sadly, we did not enjoy it too much :/ For appetizer, we ordered the fried calamari. Oh man, this was the WORST fried calamari I have EVER tried. Imitation calamari meat ?!?! YUCK!! We were both pretty disappointed :(( My coworker ordered the grilled salmon salad and I the garlic grilled salmon w/ brown rice. My salmon was pretty juicy, although the rice was pretty dry. Her salmon was apparently really dry she couldn't finish even half of the salmon :/ 1 star for ambience/outdoor patio seating 1 star for fast service / friendly staff Don't think I'll go back :/

One of my favorite places to eat since I moved into the area a year ago. Great mellow place to stop and eat lunch in the daytime but it gets pretty busy in the evening with a line out the front door but its worth the wait haha! Indoor and outdoor seating* I like the patio area if the weather is nice *Outdoor heaters if needed* My favorite combos: Grilled Shrimp tacos*Cajun* Grilled Tilapia *Cajun* The combos usually come with rice and coleslaw but I opt for the beans instead. The beans are really good but they are always warm, I wish they we're heated just a little longer. The Cajun seasoning is a perfect amount of spice I love it! The hot salsa adds the perfect kick to everything* Perfect guilt free cheat meal if your on a diet ;)

As a loyal customer for a very long time...today marks the most disappointing day at Fish Bonz. Walked in and no one was in line but me and nobody acknowledge my present for almost 10 min. I walked out and will never go there again. Customer Service is key to good food! Since I work for the City of Torrance I will make sure everybody knows about their terrible customer service!!!

Out of all the fish grills in the South Bay, this is by far my favorite. Before finding out about this place I usually went to California Fish Grill, but Fishbonz is by far better. Definitely not as packed and the food is just as good, maybe better. I noticed it is cheaper and portion sizes are pretty much the same. I like how this place has outdoor seating as well as tons of parking. I use the Yelp offer of a dollar off the White Ruffy every time I order it. It's my favorite and for $7.99 you can't beat it. I really enjoy it with the white butter over Cajun style. I've had the other fish off the grill like the salmon, ahi tuna and catfish but the ruffy is my favorite. They have taco Tuesday's here too and all the tacos are so good! They're $1.50 opposed to regular price of $2.69. Plain fish tacos are okay, but where else can you get salmon, catfish or ahi tacos?! Ordered the ahi poke appetizer! Pretty good and tasted fresh, but get that with an order of fish off the grill and it's a lot of food.. Overall it's a solid spot. Doesn't get too packed and it's in a nice plaza. You have treat tea and ice for dessert next door and AMC too so it's a good spot for a night out!

Went here after a work audit and boy was it refreshing! It was nice that it was an order-and-sit-down place. I sat outside since it was a sunny beautiful day and the food came out to us. I ordered the salmon with fries on the side and it was delicious! I finished it all, needless to say haha

When I am in the area, this is the go-to place for a great meal, lunch or dinner. There are just enough choices to mix it up every time I go and a variety of ways to have your fish prepared. The garlic butter is my favorite! The sides are hard to choose because there are so many good ones, but I love the way the zuchinni is prepared in thin slices. The cole slaw has the surprise of nuts in it which is a first for me. But the Poke Tacos is what makes this place really special. The owner's secret recipe is so tasty and the quality of the fish is like that of a high end restaurant. This place is super clean and has a lot of outdoor seating too!

Cons: 1. Even if you order online and expect a pickup at a specific time, you will most likely have to wait another 20 minutes, as if you never ordered ahead of time. This has happened to me 75% of the time. When eating there, expect a long wait as well. 2. If waiting for pickup, there's almost no place to stand and wait. The pickup counter is adjacent to the salsa bar, drink refill, and coffee condiment so you're constantly in the way unless you take up a seat at one of their limited tables like a jerk. 3. The first time I went here, I sat at at the two-seater table inside the restaurant, behind the pillar by the bathrooms. I attempted to scoot my chair forward and grabbed the bottom of the seat...and it came loose and SMASHED two of my fingers between the seat and chair, and cracked my fingernails and nail beds down the middle. I left bleeding profusely, and 3 weeks later, am still waiting for my fingernails to grow back. Pros: 1. Anything with the lobster tail is good, and my bf loves their filet mignon skewer. 2. White rice drizzled with garlic butter is good. 3. Prices are relatively decent for seafood so close to home.

Fish Bonz is one of my favorite quick restaurant in the South Bay. The food is really delicious, good portions and reasonably priced. I love seafood but it is often hard to find good seafood on a budget. Fish Bonz takes care of this. I usually order the trout with garlic butter sauce, fries and slaw. My one year old son LOVES the trout and often eats more than I do. I wish I could give them 5 stars but I have found that sometimes the staff is not always friendly. I have a family member with allergies and a few times the staff has not been very accommodating to her allergies. I also wish that the restaurant was a cleaner. I like to sit outside but I have found the tables are usually kind of sticky and gross. Most of the tables are broken and wobbly so we usually have to stabilize them with a stack of napkins.

There are tons of restaurants out there that have the same exact formula as Fish Bonz. It's a little odd. You get your fish, your rice, and it always seems to come with a slice of a baguette and some coleslaw. An example of his would be a place called "Baja Fish Grill" in Harbor City, and another chain called "Malibu Fish Grill", and then I think there's a "California Fish Grill". Are they all related? Anyways, I live nearby this restaurant and it's been there forever. One day I finally decided to try it out. It's a lot busier than the restaurant I usually frequent and no doubt gets a lot more business. I ordered the grilled Cajun White Roughy with brown rice. It did not disappoint. And, per usual, the meal came with the usual slice of a baguette and a side of coleslaw. The people at the counter were friendly and the restaurant was well kept and clean. I'd come back.

I haven't been disappointed in any of the food. I mostly get the grilled salmon salad, and love the coleslaw! Like the small family atmosphere. I figure when it is crowded, that is a good sign right? What really stood out to me recently is that I had the good luck of getting one of the sweetest young girls. Once as a server, and the other time at the register. He name is Raquel. She always has a smile, she is calm, nice, helpful, offers suggestions, very professional, and it is truly a pleasure to be waited on by her. Thank You Raquel. A happy Lomita resident!!!

I don't know why I haven't written a review for this place yet but I love coming here if I feel like eating a healthy, fresh, flavorful seafood lunch. Stand in line, order, find a seat with your number and the server will bring out your food. Everything is delicious here! I especially love their fish tacos, ahi poke, sweet potato fries, calamari, and grilled zucchinis!!

This will most likely be my last visit and review of this establishment for a few reasons. First, of their entire seafood menu, only two fish are wild caught - the Ahi and Mahi Mahi. Sadly, I'm allergic to Ahi tuna in a way that I will not describe to you the Yelper so that you may maintain your appetite. If everything else here is farm raised, then no thanks, I'll eat elsewhere. Second, the reward system is not as lucrative as first thought. You do not earn a point for every dollar you spend you earn one point for every $10.00 you spend. If the lobster dinner reward is 40 points, you have to spend $400 which at $10+ per meal means you're eating here once a week - not a good value. Thus if your total is $9.81 like mine was on three trips in last month, then I earned ZERO points. I'm very disappointed that the clerks at the order counter failed to mention the $10 minimum or else I'd have added something else or not even enrolled at all. Other disappointments: the fish taco situation. All fish tacos come on soft corn shells, except for the Ahi ones which come crispy. Why can't I get ANY taco in a hard shell? I asked but was denied. Lastly, the order takers continue to only push rice or fries with entrées when grilled zucchini is an option too. Sorry Fish Bonz. I'll bring my lunch to work from now on.

Taco Tuesdays offer up a variety of different tacos to try for under $2. I wolfed down some battered fish, cajun shrimp, cajun salmon, and battered shrimp. Unfortunately the only thing worth the effort was the original battered fish. Home made tortillas were a plus. The regular grilled fish fillets meals pretty good and offer up a decent healthy lunch/dinner. Portions are good and the flavor is decent, nothing standout excellent. Fish quality is meh and the seasoning can be forgotten. IMO, it's just like the Malibu fish grill, CA Fish grill, baja fish grill, etc.

Whenever I have seafood cravings, this is my go to place. I've tried a couple other fish grills and this place is by far the best both in quality and the price. I always get the garlic butter white ruffy swai and its delicious! The amount of servings they put balances out everything. I've also tried their fish & shrimp with French fries and its good. I'd definitely go back.

Came here for the first time. We discovered this place when we drove by to get to the movies right behind it. Remembered to come back another time and today seemed perfect. There's about 7 tables inside where you can sit but they seemed a little crowded. We decided to sit outside. They have plenty of outside seating. Everything is very clean and the employees do a great job on picking up and cleaning after people leave a table! We ordered a lobster and filet mignon plate. Ahi poke taco sliders, Asian shrimp salad and my little one had chicken strips with fries. Everything was very tasty and fresh. I was very pleased with the amount of shrimp on my salad! Will definitely be coming back!

My 1st time here and it tasted delicious. I had grilled Salmon,Cajun style with Grilled Zucini and Coleslaw. Service was pretty fast, we only had to wait for about 10 minutes before the waiter brought us our Food. Prices are very reasonable and I would definitely come back ;)

Very much like the California Fish and Grill style. There are few very minute differences in food quality and ambiance here and there but I could see these restaurants butt heads and eat each other's profits if they were in the same proximity. I prefer CF&G just a tad more however - not that the food at FishBonz is bad, but I think CF&G has faster serving time and it's much better operated; ordering food at FishBonz is a bit haphazard and I guess they're not as fully staffed for a busy restaurant. Like I said, the quality is there in the food (the swai was delicious) and I'd definitely visit more often.

I got the white ruffy (garlic butter on the side) with the yelp check in), which comes out to $6.99. I also get it with brown rice and makes it an extra $.50. What a great deal! I don't care for the tiny bread piece, so I asked for extra coleslaw. Yum. The white ruffy is moist, tender, and not too fishy. It doesn't even need the garlic butter, so I ended up just putting some mild salsa on. The service is on point. Quick and the ladies bring all the food to your table. One thing they slightly lack is the free salsa bar. Been to a couple places with a lot better salsa selections, but other than it this place is delicious, healthy, and affordable.

I always come here wanting to try new things so I can taste everything. The most recent time I came it was about to close in a few minutes but the workers were so kind and let us stay there for awhile to let us finish our food while they were cleaning up. The food is delicious and fresh and the place is clean and customer service is always on point. It's also great that it's next to the movie theatre :)

It's located in a big plaza so it can be a little hard to find. I got the white ruffy with rice and coleslaw. You order at the counter, they give you a # and bring the food to you. The portions are HUGE and they have a salsa bar! I am liking this place better than California fish grills now.

Couldn't order because I was put on hold for 10 min then hung up on. When I tried to call back the line was busy. Was busy for the longest time. Finally stopped trying. This is the second time this has happened when trying to call in a to go order. You are losing business

Been a patron since they first opened their doors (back when you saw the owner of the restaurant helping out and leading his staff), and never thought I'd ever be moved in such a negative way to write a 1-star review. FishBonz's appeal (quality seafood dishes served courteously) has gradually eroded, and that erosion was most apparent today. One spoonful of the cold, watered-down Clam Chowder and my girlfriend and I tasted something very odd about it... yep, rancid. Walked back up to the counter to exchange it for something else only to be met by an unapologetic staff member who I seemed to inconvenience. Clam chowder was replaced with sweet potato fries and beans. Well surprise, surprise... beans were cold and fries were soggy. And I mean soggy! Fish plates and tacos are hit-or-miss. Needless to say, today, you've lost an old, long-time customer FishBonz. And to the owner, if you're reading this: I hope this review urges you to re-examine your staff, front-end to back.

My other go-to fish grill in the South Bay/Torrance area! I'm pretty sure it is pronounced fish BONEs, just in case some of y'all are wondering (not 100% sure but that's what many people call it). It's located in the rolling hills plaza, right dab in the middle. Again, as a creature of habit, I always get the grilled garlic butter salmon with half rice half fries (yes, you can do that!). Your plate also comes with a side of cole slaw and a small bread (kind of random but gewwwd). = around $11-12 I like this place because they have a lot of outdoor seating which is perfect for days with that perfect Californian weather :) The workers are friendly and it's CLEAN. YAY! Wow writing a review of Fish Bonz makes me crave it again... *droooool.

Ahi poke sliders! Casual seafood dining? Yasss please! Located in a somewhat busy plaza, this place is a chill little spot to enjoy some fresh seafood :) they have daily specials which is always nice. I enjoy the fact that they are pretty affordable and the quality is great. My favorite dishes here are the fried scallops and ahi poke sliders! The scallops are perfectly cooked, light batter, nice flavor, and big pieces of goodies :) the poke sliders are just so unique and flavorful and fun! They come on a cute little tray lined up ready to enjoy. They crispy taco shells filled with ahi poke and the yummy sauce is just perfect. :p The service is fast and great, the atmosphere is cool, the outside seating is nice in the summer time :) I really enjoy coming here for a light tasty meal :) come for taco Tuesday! :) Happy eats, loves! ^_^

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! I've been coming here consistently for the past 3 years, and it has never failed to make my stomach happy. I usually get the white ruffy with garlic butter, and on certain occasions, if I feel like a sandwich, I get the white ruffy sandwich. Both are super good! The sandwich is slightly hard to eat in that there's a lot of fish and veges inside but it's so worth it! The bread is really good; it's super warm and soft and goes really well with the fish. The veges contrasted the fish really well in that it was refreshing as opposed to the fish with garlic butter which was creamy and a bit on the heavier side. Both in the sandwich and plate, the white ruffy is nicely cooked; it's not overcooked. The fish is very soft, fresh and does not have a rough or gritty texture. The garlic butter is to DIE FOR. It is so buttery and delicious. The plate also comes with bread, and I love to dip my bread and fries into the excess butter sauce. Sometimes, I also get the tartar sauce, which is made freshly. I love coming here because even when it's packed, you get your food pretty quickly and it's fresh AND delicious fish with a decent portion and an affordable price. My only complaint is the coleslaw, which hasn't changed in all the years I've been here. The coleslaw isn't that flavorful, and everyone I have talked to who eats there agrees also. It's a nice way to refresh your palate but it's not particularly memorable. I will definitely continue coming here!

I'm drooling just thinking about the food here! It's fresh and delicious. You can grab a quick bite before a movie without sacrificing your wallet for an okay meal somewhere else in this plaza. I definitely recommend giving this place a try.

Had a piece of string in my rice. im sure thats a health violation. I heard so many good things about this place too. I added the photo of it. I most likely will not be coming back here. *Update* The staff was sorry and resolved this very promptly. Thanks !

I rarely write reviews but this place deserves one... a bad one. First we try to order a clam chowder( which is on the TV screen saying they have the best clam chowder) but it was unavailable. OK that's fine. My girlfriend looks at the menu again and orders a basket of shrimp. What came out was not a basket, but a side order of shrimp(about 6 small pieces). Restaurants cannot advertise a basket and give a side. I ordered tacos, they were bland and my rice was extremely dry. And the one time I want soda, the pibb xtra was out. Don't bother asking anyone for help either, the staff here doesn't really care.

Decent casual sea food. I used to really love this place for the white ruffy. But then I got wiser, and this place just isn't the same. What is white ruffy? I used to blindly opt for their "white ruffy." Then upon my most recent visit, I googled white ruffy since I had never heard of it anywhere else. Turns out, it's a term the FDA hates because it perpetuates a false allusion and relation to the more expensive, healthier "Orange ruffy." Turns out white ruffy is a common marketing term especially used in California sea food restaurants to dupe/entice buyers. White ruffy is usually farmed and dosed with heavy antibiotics and hormones and imported from Vietnam. Regulations are lax on imported fish, especially the swai. Just thought I'd give some insight on the ruffy. After learning about this, I opted for the white Barramundi. T'was decent. The sides were not super compelling, either. Perhaps if you prefer fish and chips or are content with basic fish, this place could be worth it. I have yet to try their shrimp and other "fried" options. Those seem harder to mess up so maybe I will opt for them. I'm not in a rush, though! Adios!!

I love this place! Eat here all the time. I always get the garlic chicken with brown rice. However, sometimes they burn the chicken to the point it's all black. ...Really guys? This has been happening for YEARS! Fix this and you get 5 stars.

This is the perfect place to grab casual lunch if you are craving for some seafood. It is also conveniently located next to the AMC theaters. I ordered the fish taco combo and my goobs ordered the trout. They were both DELICIOUS and the portion size is amazing. I am salivating at the very moment as I am writing this review. THAT'S how good it is!

  • Christine K.

One word: disappointing. The tortillas are much too large and thick. The seared ahi chunks are ridiculously large, and I've had better ceviche in Chicago. If there's one thing that I'd return to Fish Bonz for, then it would be the ahi tuna sliders. In other words, you're better off going to Redondo for fish tacos.

The manager that works at this place is so Rude.....twice the workers at this place got my order wrong.. And they seriously take it personally for some reason cause they gave me attitude when all wanted is what I ordered. My salmon wasn't cooked thoroughly and it took them 20 minutes just to reheat the same peace. I will not be going back.

I just ate from this place today for the first time.I had the mahi plate and was extremely happy with it.It was cooked perfectly, tasted great, and was actually a large portion size (larger than the mahi serving from the restaurant I used to work at and almost half the price while still tasting better). It is right down the street from my work so I will be eating quite a few lunches here now.

Came here for dinner today because I was craving fish tacos. Coincidentally it happened to be taco Tuesday so all the tacos were discounted! I was really happy about that. Fish Bonz has a ton of stuff on their in store menu that are no where on their online menu. Some of these items were a Mahi Mahi sandwhich, Ahi Poke sliders, scallops, and lobster (fri-sun only). I was tempted to try the Mahi sandwich but I went with the tacos in the end. I tried the original fried fish taco, a grilled shrimp taco, and a grilled Cajun White Ruffy taco. The Ruffy was my favorite. It was cooked very well and was delicious paired with the hot salsa and lemon juice. The grilled shrimp was also a good choice. The original fried was a bit too oily and fried for my liking. I have definitely had better fried fish tacos elsewhere. The line here can get pretty long, especially on Tuesday evenings. Once you order, however, food is usually served pretty quickly. There were a ton of people ordering takeout and picking up food. That seems like a good option for a time in the future. I will definitely be back because there are so many items on the menu that I want to try!

Taco Tuesday Ordered Ruffy, Salmon & Ahi cajun tacos. Price out the door, $5.64. Best was Ruffy, then Ahi and lastly Salmon. Concept is very fast food like, walk up, place your order, pay, go get your drinks & condiments, put your number on the holder at your table and wait for someone to bring your food. It is also just as fast as fast food, ONLY, it is fresh fish. Yea, I'll be back. ------------------------------------- 2nd Visit Ordered 2 crab cakes, white ruffy and some chowder for my little one. Crab cakes were bland, white ruffy had cajun spices & garlic butter on it & it was good. My little one enjoyed my fish & chowder. However, got the runs shortly thereafter. Not sure if it was this place, but...

I've been wanting to try this place because I love fish. My FAM went to the movies around here so I met them for lunch. You pretty much choose your fish and sides, but they also have appetizers, taco meals, and specials on the outside board too. A lot more than I expected. PS. They have LOBSTER and CRAB CAKES. Two of my faves haha. PLUS. But I'm simple and I just got the Grilled Swai, with brown rice and veggies (keepin it healthy!) It was sooo good. The fish was flakey, perfectly seasoned (in butter lol), and it was a pretty big piece! Brown rice not too dry and the zucchini had perfect beautiful grill marks. They have a salsa bar too which is awesome because I love spicy. I threw on everything I could find. Which probably makes it not as healthy but whatevs. My brother apparently always gets the salmon tacos so they must be good. There's indoor and outdoor seating so that's nice. I want to come back and try the other stuff! Oh and it's reasonably priced too. No complaints!

So I had dinner here tonight. Catfish, regular fish, and shrimp tacos. It was okay. Not the best. I don't think I'll eat here again but it was decent. The taco shell was burnt to a crisp and after I finish eating I immediately had a stomach ache. No thanks!

Came here once with friends a year ago right after we watched a movie. I remember it was pretty good. Came here again last night and it was extremely crowded, but I ended up ordering food to-go anyways - shrimp tacos, crab cakes, sweet potato fries, salmon salad, and grilled salmon. Waited about 15-20 minutes for my food and then it took less than 15 to get home. Started eating with the family immediately. So maybe it was because I ordered to-go, but the crab cakes were cold. Not even lukewarm, just straight up cold. They were also pretty dry, along with the salmon. The salmon salad was good though. Shrimp tacos were alright, nothing special, I would choose Rubio's over it. Sweet potato fries were decent, but soggy - again could have been because I ordered to-go. Grilled salmon with garlic seasoning was burnt and the rice was very bland. Again, maybe it was because I ordered the to-go, but meh... I guess it'll suffice if you're craving seafood though. Note: I was debating between 2 or 3 stars, but opted for the 2 because the guy who took my order was rude. I get that you're busy, but c'mon.

    (2)
  • Andy K.

meh. i don't get why this place is so crowded. they are in serious need of more seating. if your restaurant is this popular, jack the prices up a bit, make more profit, and don't make people wait for seating, especially when its self-service seating (so basically you have to keep walking around looking for tables because its first come, first served). meh, i wasn't very impressed by the food. meh.

I was craving ahi tuna.. or was I craving fish and chips...? Anyway, it was just okay. I think I ordered ahi tuna, and it was dry.... could tell that fish had been frozen for awhile. We sat outside because it was a nice day out, and yeah bad choice. Outside with fish dish = fly heaven. We couldn't even really enjoy our food for 2 min without fly trying to get a bite of your sandwich with you! Overall, it was just okay, I don't think I'll be coming here for awhile.

Why has it taken me so long to come here? I used to go to Malibu Fish Grill on PCH in Redondo, but this is WAY closer and is my new go-to fish fast food. It is a SMALL cafe in front of the AMC Theater in Rolling Hills Plaza. They literally can only seat 28 people inside of the restaurant, which is a real challenge on a cold and windy day. The laminate wood tables and black chairs are clean and relatively comfortable. There is no way that I was going on one of their two LARGE patios, but there were definitely people eating in both of those. There is a steady stream of people throughout the evening at the cash register ordering from the selection of fish, seafood and other options. I had the Swai Cajun Style with coleslaw and zucchini in lieu of rice or fried ($7.99). YUM-O! A HUGE piece of white fish was generously seasoned and cooked to perfection - slightly crisp edges with a moist and flakey interior - atop two strips of grilled zucchini (also perfectly cooked) and alongside about half a cup of coleslaw that had a slivered almond and a raisin in it and had a somewhat sweet and tangy flavor. The friendly staff was helpful when taking our order and when delivering to the table. My companion had the salmon cajun style with a side salad in lieu or rice/fries and coleslaw ($10.99). The salmon was cooked medium, which is more than I like, but it was still flavorful, and the side salad was HUGE with a great balsamic vinaigrette. Each of the fish dishes had a slice of french bread, which is SO soft, yummy and fresh. We also ordered the sweet potato fries ($3.99), which are generally MEH. They are definitely dumped out of the bag into the fryer and they were not seasoned, so they were pretty dull and tasted processed. It's a shame, because the dipping sauce was great. On another visit, I ordered the Cajun Swai Fish Tacos with Grilled Zucchini and Coleslaw ($7.49, including drink). They were SO tasty. Thick corn tortillas are filled with moist, spicy fish and topped with cabbage and crema. I added a little of their mild salsa (which has a little kick - very surprising), which just brought them to the next level. The creamy-tangy coleslaw is always crisp and delish. The zucchini is sweet and grilled to perfection. We had started with the crab cakes ($7.99), which were remarkably good. Two cakes, about 2.5" in diameter and .5" thick are golden and crispy with very little filler, are served with a chipotle aioli type sauce that is awesome. On our first visit, the sweet food runner brought my little girl oyster crackers, which made her day. Convenient location, great service and affordable/tasty food - I WILL be back!

I've eaten here twice now, both times having the poke taco sliders (not on the menu- just posted on a sign by the register $8). Delicious! I've also had the vegetable skewers ($2) - hot and tasty unadorned mushroom and squash kabobs. I've also sampled two of their chicken dishes, the chicken teriyaki and the grilled chicken wrap. These were both well prepared, though the wrap was my least favorite. The mayo/sauce on the wrap doesn't really add much in my opinion. Teriyaki chicken was better tasting (to me). Bottom line with the chicken dishes: if you're not a fish eater don't despair when your dining parter wants to go here; there's something for everyone. Service is helpful, fast, and polite. For its class of restaurant this gets very high marks.

I can't even count how many times I've driven by this place, and thought "hmm I should try it one of these days." Well, that day came, and I'm glad it did! Fish Bonz reminds me of a lot of other fish places in the South Bay, but I liked the taste of the fish here the best I think. I did the tilapia with garlic butter and rice. The tilapia was cooked perfectly, and the garlic butter was light but added just the right amount of flavor. The rice was also really good, as well as the bread. I want to come here again and try the ahi tuna!! Prices were also really reasonable, and the food came out in decent time. I wanna go back and get bonZedddd!

Hello, my name is Elder Manantan. I would've gave this place 5 stars and you'll find out why by the end of my rant why it went down to 3. Came here expecting food that paralleled to California fish grill and I was not disappointed. We got our usual faves from California fish grill such as clam chowder better than CFG. Cajun Swai, looked typical to the naked eye until we dove into it, completely undercooked (one part of it was even transparent). When I showed it to the waitress she stated "this always happens." WHAT?! I would've understood if it was super busy but there were only two other parties there that already had their food. That fact that my fiancé is pregnant made me even more furious because uncooked fish is dangerous to our unborn son. They saved themselves by recooking the fish properly and refilled all if the sides that we ate and they had a pretty awesome ahi poke dish. It might take me a while to forgive them but I will definitely come back here.

Easily one of the best seafood places in Southern California. I went here today with my grandfather and sister. My grandfather ordered the clam chowder, my sister the fish and chips, and I myself ordered a cajun Mahi Mahi sandwich. The chowder came out almost immediately but the other two orders took about 15 minutes or so, but who can complain? It was just before the lunch rush came in, so yeah. Anyway, the food was cooked to perfection. We all had an amazing time here. Since my grandfather paid, I don't really know much about the price, but if you're looking for a good place to get some killer seafood, Fish Bonz is the place for you!

I had the lobster and shrimp for 16.99. I choose to have the rice instead of the fries which weren't that great. The lobster and shrimp I got was Cajun style. All I want to say about that is DELICIOUS. I will definitely go back. Only complaint is the wait. Maybe I was hungry and impatient but I don't like waiting so long.

Fish Bonz reminds me of California Fish Grill in Gardena. I usually get the White Ruffy. Last time I came, I tried the scallops, catfish, Ahi poke and calamari. The scallops and catfish were good. The calamari, wasn't what I was used to. It was kind of like a fish stick but with a strip of calamari inside. Poke didn't exactly taste like the kind I had from Hawaii, but I did like the salsa/tartar sauce bar.

Beach food at a place not that close to the beach! (That's a good thing by the way, as we were hungry after a long day of shopping.) Nice location at a little circular road right next to the AMC Theatres in Rolling Hills Plaza. We made our choices by looking at the menu posted outside before entering. Food is brought to the table with your number. Tap water available. The Swai White Ruffy, Mahi Mahi Sandwich, and Fish & Chips were all really good. It would have nice if the fish had come with tartar sauce in addition to the included malt vinegar (I have an unhealthy obsession with tartar sauce). I polished off the last of the french fries with the garlic butter sauce (yum...butter fries..)! We sat al fresco, where there are overhead heaters. Only thing I didn't like was that it seems like the heaters aren't powered separately. A girl seated on the farther side of the outdoor seating area asked a server to turn down the heater closest to her and all the heaters for our side turned off! Luckily, we had just finished our meal and were about to leave. Cleanup was easy: throw the serving paper and miscellaneous trash in the bin and put the baskets on top.

I absolutely loved the restaurant. It was very reasonably priced, had great service, and above all, the food was delicious and had great portions! We ordered: - Cajun White Ruffy (both as a grilled meal and as a Taco) - Cajun Salmon Grilled Meal - Ahi Poke Slider Appetizer Ahi Poke: good, but salty Cajun Salmon Grilled Meal: excellent White Ruffy Grilled Meal: excellent. We liked this one more than the Salmon one White Ruffy Taco: excellent Cajum Salmon Taco: excellent We would absolutely go to this restaurant again!

Taco Tuesday Great deals. I ordered two regular fish tacos and it was very filling. They were like 1.49. My daughter wanted the tacos with rice and beans on the side and I tasted it the rice was good but I could do without the beans. I would return to try some of the other menu items. It was very crowded probably because it was Taco Tuesday. Very fast paced the workers are non stop the whole time your there.

This is located inside a shopping center that houses Trader Joe's and the AMC theater. It's close to the theater. White roughy with small salad and coleslaw $7.99 minus $1 for checking in via Yelp app. Service was fast and efficient. The servers bring the food out to the table, which was nice. My bf had white roughy with rice. He said the rice was bland, but the fish was very good. I agreed.

You know, I like this place. It's not for all occassions, but it's casual and perfect for lunch and probably before a movie. Food was fresh and tasty. Staff was nice. I have been there a number of times and I will continue to go when I'm in the neighborhood.

Great fresh seafood for a great price. Everything is good here. From the salmon to the barramundi , white ruffy, even the chicken plate is done so well. The tacos are great too. We always come here for lunch with the office. They have added sandwiches. I think the plates are much better than the sandwiches. My favorite here is the salmon plate either Cajun or garlic butter and the ahi tuna taco which is prepared perfect with the middle raw.

Just a horrible place to eat. I went there yesterday to grab a bit before seeing a movie. I ordered a chicken burrito. Not only the chicken tasted terrible, but it was stuffed with sooooooooooo much rice. To top if off, I found hair in it! I didn't complain only because I was late to the movie. DO NOT GO THERE! it's filthy, over priced and filthy.

i used to come here a lot for lunch, my Favorite are grilled salmon, grilled chicken with salad or Fish and shrimp w fries. i would suggest making the patio area less crowed w tables and chairs and clean out that dirty smell from the table tops. other than that, food, service, price, best in the area.

At first glance, I was a little hesitant to go in and eat because it looks fancy from outside, i was in my yoga pants. I thought it was going to be expensive too. I was wrong. It's called CASUAL seafood for a reason. It's like a Corner Bakery. Order, pay, and sit. They'll give you a number and bring the food to you when it's ready. I tried: - shrimp tacos (will come back for this again) - salmon garlic grilled (yummy) - clam chowder soup - ahi poke (alright, the ahi pieces were big)

Came here again last Friday for the Salmon Cajun and one Garlic Butter.. Both delish.. the only things we didn't care for was the beans..Navy beans (yum) in a gravy without any flavor and the carrot cake. It needed to be colder. The rest of the experienced ROCKED again! The Owner really cares about the quality of his food and his customers . I received a very nice email from him for my last 5 star review.

Solid food with an added bonus of being on the healthier side. The line moves quickly and I've never had a problem with seating. The only negative is that you are dealing with movie theater parking cause it's right next to it.

I like the idea of a casual seafood place where you can just order your food and not have to eat in a fancy restaurant. You order at the front, pay, receive a number to put at your table that you choose. Love the fact that they have outside seating so my dog can tag along :) What we ordered Hawaiian Ahi Poke ($6.99)- I would expect something to be a bit bigger for this price but it was an okay size. Physically, it looked delicious but as I bit into it, it just seemed like it lacked flavor. Seems like it needs to be more marinated rather than just tossed. This was a miss for me. Taco combo/w drink Grilled Cajun White Ruffy ($7.45)- I give the tacos 5 stars! It was absolutely delicious! The sauce that came with the white ruff complimented very well. As for the rice and beans, both lacked flavor. The rice was just so plain and the beans actually had very little flavor. my boyfriend had to add tons of hot sauce to make it semi good. Overall, this place was just okay. I'd rather go to California fish grill. NOTE: -Outside seating -order, pay, sit

I work nearby so we stop in for lunch every other week or so. I usually get the cajun salmon plate or the cajun salmon salad. Both are great. And how can you say no to cajun salmon and feta cheese?!?

  • Yena K.

Love the huge selection and portions here! affordable and yummy casual seafood place, that's great for lunch My favorite is the grill mahi mahi with butter garlic sauce (not so much the cajun sauce). White Ruffy was bit on the dry side (not my favorite) but wanted to try it with yelp's $1 off but I will definitely go with mahi mahi or salmon next time! and they also started serving filet mignon!

Why didn't I come here sooner?! This place is top notch & so inexpensive! Seriously tasty, large variety of food, fresh tasting, and deals like steals! I had the clam chowder & a shrimp wrap with sweet potato fries. Honestly it was totally worth more than what I paid. I highly recommend this place if you like seafood!

Came here on Taco Tuesday and got the Ahi Poke Taco Sliders. Never had anything like them before, and they were great! Nice crunchy shells filled with fresh ahi poke, how can you go wrong? Definitely plan a return visit, but next time I'll get two orders, they were so good.

Went again last night for the Taco Tuesday specials. The fish tacos weren't very good. The fish was over fried, tough, and very thin. I guess they use less quality fish for the taco tuesday specials to save costs. The cashiers are always rude. I never had a friendly cashier help me here. The other staff is friendly though. Overall, I would still go back here. It is usually very good.

I've been a couple of times to this location and although the food is pretty tasty , the service is very poor when waiting to place an order!! We've come before and actually left because of slow service!! The sad part is the manager was present the whole time I stood for 13 minutes while the cashier struggled to take an order. The cashier even asked for help and the manager never Assisted !! I wonder if the service would have been different if the owner was present ? I heard similar comments and complaints as I sat outside on the patio !

Went for lunch, ordered the fish and shrimp combo, cashier says sorry were out of shrimp. OK I'll take the fish and chips, sorry were out of fish...Walked out, won't return... Not that the business cares anyway, I'll just go to Phil's or baja fish grill down the street next time.... Service here was always bad anyhow....

I Dont know why I went in. I forget every time this place is buzy cause of it location. I ordered two fish tacos meal and fries for kids. It was $ 9.24 one fish taco was cold and rubbery the other was hot. beans are unloved, rice was pretty good, fries were OK doky. Ice tea was gross like they haven't clean filters and tasted old. Maybe cause I brew my own I expected more. But they have same set up at cafe Rio and Rios ice tea is always good. anyways I'm going g to try this place one more time on my next vacation. But I really think owners should send some friends to give honest review of service and flavor of food. I left pissed off and almost wanted my money back but I was starving. And didn't want to deal with drama.

Love everything about this place..go in, placed your orders and choose your own seats, we sat outside. It's a cozy place surrounded by theater near by and shopping areas-can't beat that Got the salmon salad and lobster dish, so so good!!!!! Fresh, delicious, tasty with right seasonings and side dishes-perfecto!

I'm a fan. The food was super yummy and healthy. I was craving exactly this (grilled fish) and not wanting anything fried or fast-foodish. Trout was perfectly seasoned and juicy, rice was fluffy, salad was light (i.e. not drenched in dressing). The fish tacos also very tasty. The 'condiment bar' was very clean and well-stocked. Different sauces/salsas and even lemon wedges and butter chips. A neat, little place. Clean, easy, delicious and a great great alternative to the usual (e.g. sandwiches, pizza, etc.).

The clams in the clam chowder were really gritty. We ordered fish and chips as well. It comes with slaw and fries. Everything was just so bland.

Went here with my mom for a quick bite. The lie was out the door and around the store. I figured oh well, might as well wait . Despite the long line, the cashier was nice and patent in taking my order. To my surprise the food cam out REALLY fast! I got the shrimp salad , it was HEAVENLY = ) My mom had the poke tacos which were pretty good as well. For th price, you can't go wrong.

Shrimp and scallop skewers are so amazing! Everything is affordable and there's nice variety. Not a huge fan of the fries but the rice is so amazing when the garlic butter drips down on it that I don't even care. The wife and I come here pretty much any time were sick of cooking.

It's very similar to California Fish Grill.. I had some seared ahi tuna tacos which were very very delicious! Can't wait to try other things on the menu

Stopped here for lunch after seeing a movie (Nebraska, 2 thumbs-up ) The Mrs isn't a seafood eater had Corn Chowder (a bit spicy) and a side salad with bleu cheese dressing. She soup was alright and the salad, was just lettuce, a cherry tomato cut in half and few slivers of onion, not much else. I opted for the blackened Mahi-Mahi with white rice and coleslaw. The fish was delicious and after applying a copious amount of Tabasco to the rice, with a splash of soy sauce made it good also. The coleslaw was fresh but needed a tad more dressing. They also have a nice salsa bar inside, and fresh iced teas. I'll will be back. p.s. See Nebraska!

Yum! Found this spot solely through yelp and wanting seafood. The service is super friendly and the atmosphere is casual. There's a cool deal when you check in for 10% off this certain type of fish. Would go again.

Yuuummmmy!!!!! Been coming here for awhile now and it's always consistent. I usually get the grilled white ruffy with garlic butter over rice. Tasty! Mild fish with a yummy sauce. I mean, it's garlic. And butter. What's not to love? But it's not overly sauced, which is perfect (and more figure friendly). Recently I tried their ahi sliders, which really should be called, mini ahi tacos! Hard shell, tastes like freshly made, taco shells. It's delish!!!! Perfectly marinated cubes of ahi tuna, sandwiched between a hard shell taco, with a drizzle of lightly spiced avocado dressing. I can't get enough of it! And I can't stand avocado. But the sauce in this taco is great. It adds a nice little kick to the already perfect tuna. I honestly salivate over this taco. I've also tried the Cajun salmon salad. Another nice dish. Little spicy kick to a refreshing chopped salad. Mmmmmm....

I will make this short. The lobster was mealy, the calamari were the big squid rings that you see in a non-seafood place and the clam chowder was salty. I am not going to this place again. It is a place like in the middle of the desert that there is no access to fresh seafood.

    (1)
  • Kimberly L.

After speaking with Derek a manger or owner he offered me a free sandwich to replace one that only had a half of piece of fish. This time it was perfect and absolutely delicious! My husband had the fish n chips for the first time and they were good too. The batter was light ans fluffy, not greasy. They will continue to get our business.

  • Enisha B.

This place reminds me of Malibu Fish Grill. They have a decent menu and they offer grilled items which I loved. I ordered the Cajun ahi salad with the cilantro dressing and the serving was a nice size. My friend had the shrimp salad and that was good too! The servers were nice but the counter was busy and I had to wait twice to order and to get a cup for water. The waitress charged me but didn't charge my friend for a soda cup to get water which is the reason I deducted a point (consistency).

  • Christopher O.

This restaurant is simple, simple, and SIMPLE! In this case, simple is very good. They have pictures of most dishes on their display screen at the counter. Prices are fair, and food is super good. I always get the teriyaki salmon plate. It is served with rice and a grilled zucchini. Never fails, good quality taste is consistent. Service is on point. Definitely no complaints. You can let the food go down by watching a movie at the amc that is located about 100 feet from this restaurant.

Great place for a casual, quality meal. Pros: -Fresh ingredients (most of the time) -Various options of fish/seafood -Casual, no fuss -Taco Tuesdays -CAJUN SEASONING -CORN CHOWDER !!! Cons: -Though casual, still pricey -Patience needed, ordering can take a while Love sitting outdoors, always bring family and friends here.

This was our family's first visit to Fish Bonz. After reading decent reviews on Yelp, decided to give it a try. The clam chowder was so salty we returned it - strike 1. I ordered Tilapia with garlic butter and it was just ok. When I got into it, it was undercooked (pink and gooey in the middle) - strike 2. They did return it to the grill and cook it to temperature, but my stomach was already turning by then. Final offense was the "poop vein" inside of the fried shrimp and scallop plate we ordered. Some of them were cleaned and apparently some weren't - strike 3. That's a huge no no for me when eating seafood. The drink selection was also lacking. Only two uncarbonated options and one of those was iced tea and the other was "light" lemonade. What are the kids supposed to drink? I expected a better experience. My first and last visit. :-/

After hearing about this place from friends i decided to give it go. The menu and food are kinda similar to California Fish Grill the only difference i saw was their special on lobster tail combo on Sundays. I got a fish taco and 2 grilled shrimp tacos which tasted and looks the same as California Fish Grill. Maybe the two places are connected somehow. Plenty of parking cause its near the AMC Theaters in the Rolling Hills Plaza. The place itself is small indoors but seating outdoors both to the leftside and rightside of the building. I will be back when i'm in the area or crave my tacos.

The fried calamari was super greasy, low quality standards. The fountain was supposedly "broken", In which the store conveniently sold cans of soda, no refills. The 'tilapia' was full of nasty waters and tasted disgusting. The food was better when this particular store opened. Get your act together, Fish Bonz.

    (2)
  • Bea M.

They can get pretty busy, but the food is awesome, fresh, and tasty. The garlic butter and the cajun sauce are yummy with tilapia or salmon. There is indoor and outdoor seating. There are also heaters outside for cold nights! There are many things to choose from. From items from the fryer to items from the grill, they provide you with a wide array of seafood dishes. They also have Taco Tuesday!! Who doesn't love tacos?! There is a sauce bar located near the soda machine. They have your typical tartar sauce and cocktail sauces and more. They can get real busy during peak hours such as lunch hour! So be smart and call ahead. The pick up line is separate from the dining in line...thank god lol. Good seafood and great tasting food!

Favorite place for Taco Tuesday! So far I've tried the original fish taco, battered shrimp taco, ahi tuna tacos and both sweet potato & regular fries. The battered shrimp taco is probably my favorite, I love the zesty cream sauce that comes on it. Out of the fries, I preferred the regular over the sweet potato fries. They were nice and thin & very crispy, just the way I like it. The sweet potato were good but a little bit soggy. My only gripe are the corn tortillas, they were really thick. I wish they had a flour option! Oh well, for $2 I guess I can't really complain. Good ambiance and service amongst the hustle & bustle of taco Tuesday. This place gets pretty packed. Fortunately, they have two separate sections to dine outdoors. I'm a big fan of this place, the food here definitely hits the spot for my fish cravings. I will certainly be returning soon.

I have two yelp friends who gave this place four stars and I'm in agreement with both. This place is great for a casual lunch or dinner. I had the Cajun seared ahi and was very pleased with it. The seasoning was just okay as was the coleslaw it comes with but the fish was fresh and cooked perfectly. I tend to shy away from this dish at restaurants because it usually gets cooked and not just seared. Fish Bones got that part right on the money, the fish was lightly seared and raw in the middle. I will definitely return if I'm hungry and near the Rolling Hills Plaza.

4/1/2013 EDIT: I have downgraded this place from a 4 to a 2. I went this past weekend. I know it's not a sit-down restaurant where you order from the server... BUT The server took my friend's fish taco plate. And he wasn't even finished with it. There was a substantial piece of fish left. She didn't even ASK him if he was finished, she took it before he could say anything. ALSO, The grilled fish my friend ordered was too charred. It was to the point where the fish was bitter to him. When he asked the server, she just looked at us all dumbfounded and went, "uhhhhhh I think that's how it's supposed to be." WELL I don't think the fish is supposed to be overcooked and burnt. She asked what his order number was and walked away. She never came back with an apology from the chef or a new order. She ignored us the rest of the time we were there. Honestly, I know I'll probably be back here because it's closer than California Fish Grill, but if distance didn't matter, I'd never come back here again. She was utterly rude and offputting. ORIGINAL REVIEW: It's basically the same thing as California Fish Grill. Same menu. Same food. Just closer to me. How it compares to Fish Grill: Prices- FishBonz is a little bit pricier. Fish tacos- Better. I like the cajun and crispy fish tacos of various types of fish. It really depends on my mood. Taco plates- The beans are yummier. Grilled fish plates- California Fish Grill was a lot better in my opinion. The portions are bigger than Fish Grill, which is probably why it's more expensive too... The garlic butter sauce is kind of bland here. And let's be real, if I'm choosing to eat garlic butter sauce, it better be damn good. The cajun seasoning is better than the garlic butter sauce here, but still not as good as Fish Grill! Tuna Poke- Haven't tried the Fish Grill ones, but they weren't that fresh. But what can you expect, it's not exactly a raw fish type of place. French fries- They're both good. I personally like California Fish Grill better when it comes to the fish plates. Fish tacos may be better here. I just come here more because of convenience of location.

Got my usual order of Clam Chowder and the Poke Sliders. The Chowder has been great lately and today was no except w/ nice large pieces of clam. However someone must've gotten interrupted when making the Poke mixture -- and added triple the salt or something, cuz it was sooo salty I could barely finish one taco. Ugh! I would've taken UR back but I was probably one of the last orders of the day, getting 10-15 minutes before closing. Think I'll hold off ordering Poke for a while :(

  • Kristen Q.

Maybe I've become too selective in my seafood tastes???? I absolutely used to love California Fish Grill in Irvine, and isn't this the same exact concept? I ordered the white roughy which comes with fries, cole slaw, and (Mediterranean?) long grain rice. The fish was huge. Could've been shared amongst three small Asian girls in order to be finish-able. Nothing left me with an impression of "oh, my, gosh, this is sooo good." Maybe I was easier to please in the early post-college years. Best part about FishBonz is the availability of toppings/condiments: tartar sauce(!), parsley, lemons, and salsa. Yuuum. Maybe I should've added a bunch more condiments. Maybe it will all taste better if I go back on Happy Hour and the food is 50% off? I shouldn't have read the little blurb regarding FishBonz being voted the best seafood in the south bay area.... less disappointment!

From the outside, it almost looks like a fine-dining establishment. I thought it was like a Ruth's-Chris-of-fish until we walked inside. And then I thought it must be a chain, cause it feels like you're in a Chipotle-of-fish. Thankfully, it's neither of these. What FishBonz offers is a variety of delicious, gigantic fish tacos for a kickass price. Between two of us, we thought three tacos each would be good, so we ended up mix-and-matching six. She ended up barely able to finish one and a half. I ended up forcing down every last bit of the rest and pretty much shitting my pants on the spot. And, thankfully, every last bite of it was delicious. I can't believe this place isn't more popular.

I was asked by the manager to give them a second chance so I came back today and got a fryer fish and shrimp combo. Paid $9 and upgraded to sweet potato fries for $1.5 extra. Ill go from good to bad. Tartar sauce and cocktail sauce is unlimited and the tartar sauce taste like filet o fish sauce at mc ds which is awesome. Well the fried fish is thin and size of large fish sticks. Shrimp is little bigger than the ones you get at sizzler. The batter for both of them is nothing special so is the included small cole slaw. They were pretty skimpy on the sweet potato fries and half of them were under cooked. Value to food they get 2.5 stars this time and I round down because they asked me to give them a second try and failed. Won't be back anymore and leaving hungry.

This place never dissapoints me. One of the best places to eat in Torrance and its right in front of the movie theatre. I always get the salmon with garlic butter with brown rice. Its freaking delicious.

We love this place! My favorite is the cajin chicken and rice, HOWEVER. ..it is sometimes inconsistent quality and can be disappointing.

The food: I ordered the salmon cajun salad. The salad itself was awesome but I didn't like the Cajun seasoning. My friend ordered the salmon teriyaki which tasted delicious. The ambiance: it's located in a great area in rolling hills right next to the amc theater. my friend and i sat outside where there is a fountain and lots of greenery perfect for date night. Quick tip: ask the cashier about the movie special.

Very fresh tasty fish, with extra grill flavor, their salsa bar is small but always fresh, although you are not going to have a blast if you like spicy salsa. Portions are not super big but just enough to leave some space for dessert (tip. Ice cream is good at the place next door) their taco sliders are very tasty, or if you want to save the tortilla you can try their signature white ruffy fish or the grilled zucchini which by the way is very cheap (extra tip. Try their fish tacos, all of them are very good, and if you go on Tuesday they have them starting at $1.59, if you do this going before 6 pm will save you about 30 min.((I just gave you 2 tips in one)) )

I've been here twice and have not been disappointed yet. Fish tacos time number one were good for fried fish but the fish and chips from my second visit were delicious! I was upset when I got my plate because the amount of French fries seemed small, however, by the end of eating the fish I could barely finish the amount of fries I had been given because the fish was so thick and perfectly cooked. I will go back the next time I have a fried fish craving.

Kinda Self Serve type place... the Food was OK... it was in a Strip Mall type location so I guess you really can't complain.... too many Flies in the establishment. Nothing really to report... I can recommend this place if you are in the area and in a hurry.

Fish Bonz makes my favorite fish tacos. I go here for the white ruffy fish tacos. The tacos are stuffed with grilled fish, raw cabbage, and tomatoes in a corn tortilla. They come with a white sauce on top. If you get the combo, you get beans. fries (or rice), and a drink. All for $7.49. :) I've tried many of the tacos here and the white ruffy remains my favorite. I love the patio seating. We always seat out there. If you haven't tried this place, you should!

I was around the area and wanted to grab a quick bite to eat before I hit the road and this place was perfect. I had the original fish tacos and it was simply sublime. Generous portions on the fish and the sauce was great. The tortilla is a bit different, but not disagreeable . I will definitely come back to try the white ruffy next time, maybe on a Tuesday since it's taco Tuesday!

This is a great fish and seafood spot that serves casual, delicious food. I tried the shrimp plate, which was huge and filling, and also had a bite of my boyfriend's ruffy taco. I used to go to a place that was similar to this in Long Beach, and this might be my new go-to fish spot!

I tried the cajun salmon with white rice and coleshaw. Salmon was delicious. Total meal was about 10 dollars and i was super full from the two slaps of salmon they gave me. the sourdough bread is just alright. i dont even like to eat fish, but i loved the salmon here. i would definitely come back and try their tacos and lobster tail next time. Lobster tail is only available on Sundays though. this is a very cute, casual place. you place your order at the counter and then grab a table and they bring the food to you...very similar to panera bread and corner bakery, except with seafood.

I've been here twice and it is great every time I go. Last time I got the seared ahi tuna with rice and grilled zucchini on the side. The grilled zucchini is a must! It is so juicy and savory at the same time. This place is a great place to go for a weekend lunch if you want something healthy and refreshing.

This was my first time here so this is an unbiased opinion on this little place in the Rolling Hills Plaza. The menu offers a wide array of plates and tacos of varying seafood so I didn't know what to choose! I ended up ordering the 2 Grilled Cajun Shrimp taco combo. It shortly arrived at my table on a plate with rice and bean soup. The tacos were delicious! The tortilla was grilled and shrimp was seasoned delightfully with a great Cajun kick! Loaded with lettuce and topped with some cilantro and special sauce. The rice was nice and tasty as well and the soup was tasty as well. Service was great. The new summer hours for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are open until 10 PM! With some outdoor seating as well I'll be coming back for sure and maybe my dogs can come too!

Scallop & Shrimp Skewers w/Bacon, Giant B. Shrimp. That is my favorite and the best one for me. I'd recommend tacos or other foods, but this blew my mind! beyond description.... Also you can get an AMC movie ticket cheaper ONLY when you buy it with foods IN HERE. You can ask cashier. If you're not a AMC Stub member, this is the best deal for their tickets. Concerning with all restaurants near here, this is still the best one.

**3.5 stars for FishBonz** I went here on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty busy. FishBonz is a casual seafood place (think PeiWei style). We got the fish and chips and a shrimp and fish fryer combo. The fryer combo came with fries, 2 large pieces of fried fish, 4-5 fried shrimp, and cole slaw. My pieces of fish were ok, the batter was a little too crispy for me. The shrimps were awesome though! They were hot, fresh and succulent! I thought the fish in the fish and chips plate was better because it was a different kind of fish and was fluffier and softer. Overall, a ton of food for ~$10-$12/person. There's also a sauce bar, loaded with salsas, tartar sauce, and cocktail sauce. I wouldn't mind coming back if I'm in the area.

Visited this restaurant for dinner with my husband, kids and my friend and her husband and kids. The restaurant itself is pretty small. It has about 5-6 tables inside and maybe 7 or so outside. But it was very cute. The menu has different fish options like fish tacos, fish platters, salad with fish, etc... They only have 1 bathroom and it seemed that tonight everyone and their mother needed to use it! We just potty trained our 2.5 year old and it was a little annoying to have to wait around when she needed to use the bathroom. Anyway, on to the food. You order at the counter and then they bring the food to you. I ordered the taco plate with the fried fish and shrimp taco combo which comes with rice, beans and a drink. My husband also had the taco plate but with the ahi tuna and cajun salmon tacos. I got 2 plain salmon tacos for my kids. My husband really liked his food - which I did not try. But mine was very greasy and salty. I was not a big fan. My son - who eats anything and is almost 1 - loved the salmon, rice and beans. My daughter usually likes fish but didn't care much for the salmon and only ate the rice and beans. Our friends ordered the ahi tuna taco appetizer, a cajun salmon salad, a kids fish sticks and some other kind of taco as well as the zucchini appetizer. I tried their ahi tuna appetizer and did not care much for it. The service was also sub-par. My friend and I were both in line together. She ordered her food first and I was right after her, yet my friend and her family's food came out at at least 10, if not 15 minutes before my family's food came. While I can be patient, it was hard for my kids to wait to eat when they were watching their friends food come out. My daughter kept asking if that was her food and I had to keep telling her to wait. The servers also kept bringing out food to other tables and it just didn't make sense to me since my friend and I ordered in succession. Wouldn't ours have been served next? Overall I didn't care too much for this place. The ambiance was nice. The food was only ok - nothing special. Although my husband and friends seemed to enjoy their food more than me. I doubt that I would visit this place again, especially since it is not close to my home.

Fishbonz is a go-to for a fast, yummy and healthy meal. The menu offers a lot of variety and allows for you to choose to your own personal taste. Service is fast and reliable.

I usually come with my mom for lunch on a weekend. The vibes here are usually very cool. Unfortunately, you'll encounter some stuck up patrons being in the nicer part of Torrance but you risk that in any nice city, right? They would be unreasonably rude to either me or the staff. But oh well. Try anything off the grill. The salmon and the trout are my favorites. You get the choice of garlic butter or cajun. I go with the garlic butter EVERYTIME. You also get the choice of rice or fries. I get the fries. They charge extra for brown rice. It also comes with a small slice of bread and coleslaw. So filling. I also recommend trying the grilled zucchini on the side as well. The ahi tuna tacos appetizer is very good, too. Service is always top notch. Clean interior and exterior. Outdoor seating available as well.

This cozy fish house is fresh, delicious, and you must try the Ahi tacos. Indoor seating is limited but they have a spacious patio dining.

Not a fan of deception!! My BF pointed out that if you look at their menu and even their yelp check in "special", they offer customers a great deal on their White Ruffy. First, notice its not Roughy but Ruffy. That's because its the name of a company. Sure enough I goggled the word, and it came up at whiteruffy.com . White Ruffy is actually the brand name of the fish, packaged by the White Ruffy company in Watsonville, Calif. The fish inside the package is striped pangasius, a species of the catfish family Pangasiidae often raised on fish farms in Vietnam. You can read more about it at consumerist.com/2011/11/… Mind, you, there is a fish called White Roughy, but it is spelled with a "gh" not "ruffy". Roughy (with the gh) costs more, and it is a cousin of the Orange Roughy, also a higher priced fish. To be fair, FishBonz can say they are not misleading the customer because you'll see the word 'brand' in smaller lettering or the word (Swai) in parenthesis on the menu. Its up to us, the consumer to be savvy on what we are eating. So why still give them 4 stars? I had the "Ruffy" again today as a fish n chips, and it was still very tasty, as long as I didn't really think about what fish I was eating. IMHO it tastes better than the catfish, and I have yet to hear of any customers keeling over from sickness. I'm hoping that White Ruffy company does keep their standards high in obtaining good fish, rather than sickly caged fish in the murky waters of Vietnam. I just want people to be aware of what they're eating, and not just assume (as I did) that White Ruffy is a fish, instead of being a brand name. Swai fish is a cheap fish, found in Asian countries like Vietnam. If you want to read the difference between Swai or Catfish, here's a link, or, google it yourself to see. ehow.com/info_8316361_di… Now that you are informed, realize that you do "get what you pay for". Bon appetit!

White Ruffer Cajun Rice Coleslaw with Bread. The fish was appropriately spiced and was perfectly cooked. The rice was great but there was not enough of it. I am left craving for me. But then maybe that was the point...??? Free water by the fountain drinks. Ginormous parking lot not just for this business but for the surrounding ones as well. It's not even half full.

We came here on Memorial Day and was looking forward to the visit. I'm giving this place 2 stars for their Cajun white ruffy taco and French fries, but I have to take away 3 stars for serving us raw meat and the poor service that followed upon bringing it to the managers attention. They put the half bitten raw meat back on the grill and served it back on top of the same food the original meal came on. We had over cooked meat with really cold sides and shrimp...that was a disappointing experience.

This is my favourite go to when I want a great fast healthy meal! Oh it's also delicious. The best fish and chips around as well as the Ahi poke tacos! Grilled whitefish plate is my go to for $7.99 it's the best.

This place has existed in front of the AMC Theatres in Rolling Hills Plaza for years now, and I've driven by dozens and dozens of times, but only recently had the chance to eat here when my girlfriend said she felt like fish for brunch last Sunday morning. FishBonz Grill is a "casual" seafood restaurant, meaning once inside you wait in line to order and pay at the register, head to the soda fountain and salsa bar to get your drink and pick up condiments, and then find a seat and wait for someone to bring you your food. Not being a fan of Pepsi products, I was happy to see Coca-Cola products at the soda fountain (Coke, Fuze, Minute Maid, Pibb Xtra, and Sprite) as well as two flavors of China Mist iced tea. The salsa bar has three or four kinds of salsa, tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, soy sauce, lemon wedges, and malt vinegar, too. I wouldn't call FishBonz tiny inside, but they've got two to three times as much outdoor seating as indoor seating. It was a warm, humid day, and stuffy inside, so we opted to sit outside. We accidentally moved our table a bit and found we'd dislodged several shims under the legs, making the table extremely wobbly. An employee came by and shoved half a dozen shims under one leg to steady the table again. She told us this happens all the time. The indoor furniture is different, so I don't think this happens inside, but the outdoor furniture must be a major pain in the ass for both customers and employees. My girlfriend and I both ordered the fish listed as "Swai White Ruffy (brand)" on the menu. She got the garlic butter sauce, French fries, and white beans. I got the Cajun style with coleslaw and upgraded to sweat potato fries. Both plates came with a slice of bread, and we decided to share an order of grilled zucchini. When I ordered at FishBonz, I thought I was getting a fish called "white ruffy" produced by a company called Swai. Nope. It turns out that the fish is actually swai, and the company that sells it is called White Ruffy. You'll find that swai is also called iridescent shark, shark catfish, and striped pangasius, among many other names. You'll also find lots of websites warning you against eating this fish due it where it's farmed (the Mekong Delta in Vietnam) and what it's fed (use your imagination). White Ruffy claims that their hybrid swai/striped pangasius "SuperFish" is not farmed in the Mekong Delta but in fresh-water ponds, the implication being that it's higher quality and safe to eat. It's not clear to me who to believe, and whether this fish is really safe or not. But what is clear is that the company's name, intentionally or unintentionally, leads customers to wrongly think that they're getting some variation on orange roughy, a much more expensive fish than the dirt-cheap swai they're really getting. Just look at how many reviewers here say they ordered the "white ruffy" as if it was a type of fish. Even the FishBonz employees seem to be confused; the Daily Specials posted in front of the entrance lists a "White Ruffy Sandwich," which also makes it sound like "white ruffy" is a type of fish. It's incorrect, but it sure sounds better than an "Iridescent Shark Sandwich." That being said, I actually thought that both the garlic butter and Cajun-seasoned swai tasted pretty good. My sweet potato fries were excellent, among the best I've had. The coleslaw was merely okay, though, being too coarsely chopped and too dry for my taste. Like my girlfriend, I thought that the bread would have been better had it been slightly toasted or even just served warm. The grilled zucchini was okay. Overall, I enjoyed our brunch, and would eat at FishBonz again, but would probably opt to try one of the more expensive types of fish offered (trout, mahi mahi, catfish, salmon, tilapia, barramundi, or ahi tuna) than the swai.

This place is not kidding when they put CASUAL in their restaurant name! Definitely a really casual place to eat. You order right when you walk into the restaurant and then you find a place to sit after you order. The inside is VERY small so it's probably hard to find somewhere to sit inside especially when it's busy...However they do have a patio where there is outside seating. Plus there are HEATERS!! Yay! My favorite!!! Patio heaters save my life. I've been here twice with the boyfriend within 2 weeks. The first time we both ordered the White Ruffy which is Swai ($7.99). I got it with garlic butter and my boyfriend got it with cajun. We both established that it was a lot better with garlic butter. He kept stealing mine.. lol We also ordered the ahi taco sliders which were AMAZING! If you haven't tried this yet you have to try it! We ordered it last minute and were so glad that we did. Along with your fish entree you also get a side of coleslaw, piece of bread and your choice of white rice, brown rice (for $.50 more) or fries! (I usually get sweet potato fries for $1.50 more. Cuz I'm kind of obsessed with sweet potato fries...lol). The second time we came we ordered the Barramundi ($11.99) and the Mahi Mahi ($9.99). I liked the barramundi more than the mahi mahi. I felt like the mahi was kind of dry and the texture was really tough. I've had better mahi at other places. The barramundi was good though. We also ordered a corn chowder soup which was really good! One thing we were kind of upset about was the second time we came, the service was really slow. It took us about almost 30 minutes to get our food. And we saw that the tables who ordered after us were getting their food before us. I went up to ask someone how come our food was taking so long and she told me it was because they were busy...but they weren't even packed at all. I've seen the place way more packed! She also gave me this "annoyed" kind of attitude when I was talking to her. Anyways, we will most likely be back since the food is pretty good. I want to try more things on the menu!

I came here to eat lunch with my mom and best friend. This was my first time coming here and it is not too shabby. As soon as you walk in, you'll be waiting in line to order and pay immediately. They have inside and outside seating so whichever you prefer. If you sit outside, however, beware of wobbling tables. We had to switch a couple of times and wasn't successful finding a stable one. You place the number they give you on their little stand and they'll come find you when your order is ready. I ordered the garlic butter White Ruffy (Swai) with fries; it also comes with coleslaw, and a piece of bread. My mom ordered original fish tacos and my friend ordered the Barramundi with rice along with grilled veggies and grilled zucchini. I must admit it was pretty good. You must try their homemade tartar sauce. It's full of defined flavor and goes well with the fish even. The coleslaw has almonds and raisins, something that I haven't seen done anywhere and something I actually love doing myself! I'm surprised I even saw it here.

My favorite spot when I'm craving fish tacos or fresh seafood in Torrance. This place is great for a casual date or a quick and healthy meal. Never had a disappointing meal at this place. Also, the service is decent. Sometimes it can be a bit slow and irregular, especially if you're in a larger group, but it's nothing to really complain about. So far I've tried the original fried fish taco meal (comes with a side of rice & beans) and the white ruffy fish dish (with a side of thinly sliced fries and slaw). The fish in the fried fish tacos are always crispy, large, and filling! Also, there's always an array of fresh salsas and sauces and plenty of lemons and cilantro. (My favorite!) The one downside that I've experienced here is the lack of seating and it's a bit crowded.. perhaps that can be good seeing that they have good business constantly. A place worth checking out.

You don't have to go to Redondo beach pier any more! Great fish, steak, shrimp dishes at almost fast-food prices! The best fish n' chips ever!

Place lives up to its name...it's VERY casual. Unlike Malibu Fish Grill and CA Fish Grill, Fish Bonz doesn't use real dinner plates and silverware. It's so casual that you get plastic plates (you know the disposable ones at bday pizza parties) and plastic utensils. I don't mind it though because it saves cost for them which probably explains how reasonably and cheaply priced the seafood is! It's located in the plaza w/ Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. GPS will just lead you into the parking lot, but to be specific, the restaurant is facing the AMC theater. Nice place to eat right before the movies (however, remember to keep in mind it ain't fancy). The workers are really friendly and the cooks know what they're doing! Appetizer: Crab Cakes $8 - Asked the cashier if these were good and she was honest enough to say she hasn't even tried it before, but a lot of ppl order it. I'm not sure why I was expecting gourmet thick crab cakes like Mastro's and Wildfish. The crab cakes were small and had lots of crunchy breading on the outside. Not the best crab cakes I've had, I'd skip and try another appetizer Entrees - Just like all the other fish grill places, comes w/ choice of rice, fries, or coleslaw and you get a piece of bread to go w/ it. The bread was actually softer and tasted better than CA Fish Grill's *note: only a select few fishes are wild caught. I had to ask the cashier who then pulled out a list. Mahi Mahi - this was one of the few wild caught options they had. I got it cajun style and the fish surprisingly came out perfect. It didn't have the thick black grill marks which was a plus for me because it means they clean their grills! Fish came out nicely grilled & flaky. Was a pretty big portion for $10. I got it w/ a salad and coleslaw w/out extra charge for the salad so yay! I like the coleslaw here, it's not mayo based and was light. Barramundi $12 - my bf got this garlic buttered style. It's supposedly like sea bass, but was far from it. Wasn't as rich and fatty, but still good. I actually preferred the cajun style seasoning instead. Not a bad place if you're looking for something healthy in the area that's affordable and will stuff you
