The best part about Yummy Juice Cafe is that they are open late! I only come here when I crave egg puffs because they are AMAZING... for about the first 5 minutes when they are hot. The egg puffs take awhile to make, but they are definitely worth trying. I would suggest splitting one order between everyone at the table, then ordering another one if more is desired. There is always plenty of seating, and noise is never a problem. I love that they serve hot tea, but this is in place of water. The service itself is decent but not outstanding. Overall, this is a great place to hang out with a small or large group of friends, but I would not drive here strictly for the food.

legit HK style cafe. Get the salt & pepper chicken wings, baked pork chops over rice, and the mango sago topped w/ pomelo

Customer service here is non-existent! I mean the owner had high ass fob flip flops on today and she was in the kitchen. I mean that is super unsafe! We ordered take out and it took them an hour just to bring us our egg puffs and salt n pepper wings! They kept giving us dirty looks when we just told them that we will be ordering take out. Is it necessary to glare at us if we are paying you guys for making our damn food?! That is why you did not get a tip. Egg Puffs: They were garbage in my opinion! They were super dry! I mean I had to make sure I had something to wash it down with. Their Milk Tea: Once again garbage. It tasted like watered down chocolate milk! Bleh. On top of that how do you run out of BOBA?! -_- How can you ruin a milk tea?! I will never understand! People come here because the food is super cheap! I would never come back to this place! I really don't recommend it. Service is horrible as well as the food!

Super oriental taste, kinda sketchy for being Asian myself

They don't really have much service but their food is decent and the price is cheap. However I recommend something cheap like an afternoon snacks. There's this snack menu that starts at 2:30 pm. I like the baked white cheese with macaroni noddles from their snack menu. Omg it's so damn good. Oh ya, the snack menu also comes with a free drink and it's only around $4.35. However, good luck with their customer service... (Just a reminder, their food isn't really "clean" sometimes. And I'll leave to your imagination of what that means)

Note to self: they have FRIED POTATOES in their curry! Maybe not many ppl might appreciate it, but it tastes much better and an additional level of work for them to fry them, something hard to find I feel.

Yummy Cafe is a guilty pleasure after a long night of drinking and when you want something Asian. Their extensive menu consisting of familiar Hong Kong style dishes will have something for everyone. Although it may not be the best quality, it's definitely comfort food. The baked entrees are probably my favorite; can't beat rice and/or spaghetti smothered in thick, greasy, and flavorful sauce. Yummy!

Horrible place with horrible food. There was no service. Teriyaki and chicken was plain. All it had was rice on bottom, beef or chicken, and the teriyaki sauce on top. This place is probably the worst place I've been to.

I hadn't been in this neighborhood in a while. Last time I was, I ate at Taylor's across the way. Then I didnt notice that there was this HK style cafe. We were just looking for caffeinated beverages to go, at a late hour, so this was one of the only things open. Got an iced milk coffee with grass jelly. Coffee flavor is really light as was the grass jelly. I guess maybe they make it for palates that cant handle strong flavors? They were pretty quick and the place was crowded for a Sun late night. I may try the food one of these days, but it's a decent togo beverage option

Mango milkshake, salt and pepper tofu, salt and pepper chicken wings, pork over pan fried noodles and tomatoe beef over rice. Everything was good as usual. Came with friends at 11pm and there was over 30 people on a Thursday night. Younger crowd but usual mix of older Chinese people.

We went there for lunch! It's pretty cheap, $6.99 a meal combo with a drink. Taste still different than what I have in LA. We ordered Portugal style chicken w/ rice and beef offal w/ fun soup.the taste is just okay. AND the lemon tea is NO REFILL!!!

This is one of my favorite late night spots, on the weekends it is open till 2 am and the staff is WONDERFUL! The only reason I give it 3 stars instead of four is because the late night experience is always better than the day time. Service depends on what time it is unfortunately, but I still love this place and go regularly. My favorite things are beef and egg on rice, beef hor fun, honey date tea, and the honey dew drink. It is a great spot to go after dancing in midtown, yummy deserts and filling portions at low cost.

I have been going here for years for their authentic chinese food and low price. I have stopped going here since they changed management over a year ago. Since the change, the quality of the food was a joke. The staff and service were slow. I used to love their dumpling noodle soup. The last time that I ordered that soup, the dumplings tasted nothing like they ones they had before. It tasted exactly like something that came out of a frozen bag at the store. The portion of the food was smaller and all the dishes were cut back in terms of quality. For cheap, authentic chinese food, I stick with Jade Fountain at the other end of Freeport.

I have a love hate relationship with Yummy Juice. There are two reasons why I come here: 1. It's open 2-3 am. 2. They have egg puffs (gai dan jai) Yummy Juice is your typical Hong Kong Style cafe. You have lunch specials on the wall that are usually safe choices. They come with your choice of milk tea or lemon tea. If you come in the early afternoon like from 2:30-5:30 pm, they have a tea time menu. This menus have combos with sandwiches, noodles, and porridge. If you want to eat family style, they also have a family deal where you can pick 3 dishes from a list for about 20 bucks. They have some weird dishes on their menu like strawberry pork chop and hasma (wikipedia: dried fatty tissue found near the fallopian tubes... yeah i dunno). I am curious to see what those things are like but I haven't been too adventurous lately. I don't come very often for just food, but when I do their baked pork chop or chicken rice dish is delicious. They pretty much give you a pork chop over fried rice and add a creamy/tomato sauce over the top. I hear their chicken wings are good, but I haven't gotten the chance to try it. At night time I always get the egg puffs which is pretty much waffle batter cooked into tiny pillows of crunch and fluff. They have a few flavors but I would stick to the original flavor. Let me warn you, results may vary. Most of the time it comes out alright, but there have been occasions where it was over/under cooked. If you want a late night place where you can get some hot food, drinks, or desserts, you might want to check out Yummy Juice. I think I stayed here once from 9 pm - 2 am just talking with friends and drinking tea. The waitresses didn't seem to mind much. They only come around to take your order and drop off your food. If you want anything extra, just grab their attention and ask. When you pay, just walk up to the counter. It can be a little trouble some, but you can split the check multiple times.

One of the coolest little places I have EVER been to. I mean, EVER, as in my entire time living. Service was a little slow because only two poor girls were running it, but still was not terrible, and SO worth the wait. Had the curry chicken, a little thick but tasted great. Egg puffs, OMFG!!! Little ball shaped pancakes with strawberry filling. Get them before your meal for an appetizer, get them at the end for dessert. (Finish them while they are warm still.) Also had the peanut butter french toast... MOTHER OF THOR. In heaven, absolutely. Just illogically good. Banana shake was good too, runny for a shake, and came with one of those big straws, so it wasn't a constant battle trying to consume like a normal thick shake is. Fantastic. Just silly good. I will be dreaming of this place every day and night from now on, and I will not be able to go to Sac again without stopping here.

The service isn't always the greatest, but the appeal of Yummy Juice Cafe is how late they're open. Plus they have yummy egg puffs (never forget the condensed milk!) and tons of food options. Also, their mango, banana, and strawberry milkshakes are to die for...along with their fresh mango juice!

A late night dinner or some where to go and grab a bit after bar hopping or the clubs. This place closes late and the food is very good. Their family dinner is also a good deal.

Last experience was a let down. Don't order the sesame chicken. it was the most grossed thing i ate. How could someone bring out such low quality food that lacks freshness n taste?. I blamed myself for ordering an American-Chinese entrée at a restaurant that mainly serves hongkongnese food. I was so hungry i just choked it down. I also ordered a dish that had preserved veggies n shredded pork in a vermicelli rice noodle soup. that was average I packed the leftover soup home n left some sesame chicken behind to send a message that it's so nasty that I won't even pack it home for my dog, but I don't think they will get it. Also, there were a few times I wanted to order some things on the menu and they don't have it. and it happened with the same menu item, not once but twice. they should just take that item off. I'm only going to miss your milk tea, guys!!!

I love this place. My boyfriend and I would come here on late nights. The food is yummy but the service is very bad. You're basically on your own, freely sitting yourself once you come in the restaurant. I usually get the salt and pepper chicken wings, strawberry spareribs, and egg puffs. Overall, it's good food but don't expect excellent service.

  • Michael R.

Yum yum try this awesome place! They have some very different choices. The people are very nice and me being Black & white... I don't feel out of place, but then again it is 11:56pm with minimal people around haha

Came in at 2:30 am last night and there were still a good amount of tables filled. This is my third time coming here and I hope it's nearing my last because I realy don't like the food here. I was supposed to try another place w/ the bf but the lines were too long at the other place, so he chose to come here. We ordered a baked rice plate, beef & vegetables rice plate, and salt and pepper chicken wings. All the food tasted horrible lol. Okay, not horrible but worst than the food you could get at a sub-par boba place like Quickly's. Each time coming here I've been hoping for better, but I shouldn't get my hopes up too much. The first time the chicken wings came out either they fried it for too long in the fryer OR they re fried it again after letting it sit there because the skin and insides were so hard!!! My bf is an easy eater, but he even complained about it. The service is what made me give this place even 2 stars. The older ladies that work there are super nice and they willingly took the chicken wings back after seeing how hard they were and told us they'd make us a new plate of it. I will only come back here if there's absolutely nothing else to eat really late at night or one of my friends wants to come check it out!

I love the egg puffs.. Everytime I eat something else here I don't feel so good in my tummy.. It's a heavy feeling. Yuck.. But the Egg puffs.. Still delicious.

Happy New Year everyone! May your year be filled with fortunes and happiness. I had the pleasure of celebrating in one of the greatest cities in the world- Hong Kong. Enjoying all the different types of food, I recalled this experience I had with fellow Yelper Andrew L as we were searching long and hard for a place to eat on a quiet afternoon in Sacramento. We're notorious for having businesses close down during the afternoon, but luckily our Yelp App indicator showed us that this place was open! Thank goodness because we were driving around for what seemed like hours looking for something outside of McDonalds. Don't be fooled by the name. This is not your everyday Jamba Juice shack. On the contrary, this restaurant stays true to serving a lot of famous Hong Kong cafe foods! This small family owned business serves up some great eats such as the British-Cantonese influenced Macaroni Noodle Soups, to Pork Chops over a bed of spaghetti. The options were there, and best of all... it was cheap!! We each ordered a lunch special consisting of a main dish and a drink. 1. Hong Kong Milk Tea - My friends, the bitterness that makes this famous was there! A definite must. HK style milk tea is my favorite and if you haven't tried it yet, you're missing out. 2. Salt & Pepper Spare Ribs - This one came with a helping of white rice. The ribs weren't too heavy from the drying, and was both crunchy and delicious. A bit on the dry side, but nothing a little bit of sauce can't help fix. 3. Egg Waffles - For a side, we also ordered the honeycomb looking egg waffles. You HAVE to order this while here. It's a staple Hong Kong snack, and is delicious. You'll never look at waffles the same way again! All around I loved this place. It was homey, affordable, and had a good selection of food. Like many Chinese places, service won't be amazing, but will be adequate. If you're feeling for a HK cafe style eatery, this one if a kepper. Parking is available in a private lot outside. Comes with tree shading!

I ordered to go a wanton soup with noodles. Yuck. It reminded me of a "cup of noodles" with frozen wantons added. Poor quality soup. I will give a 4 star to the server - professional and friendly.

  • Trang Y.

The boba milk tra here sucks !! The boba is not soft, plus the milk tea is bitter. And more, it took way too long for the waffle to come out. Thank you but I will not come back another time

Had dinner there with my family. The food is actually pretty good. I'm not impressed with the service though. There are no refills on the iced tea. The waitress never refilled our water even though she came to our table several times. She asked if we wanted a refill on our waters after we were all done eating. Also, the bill she gave us was written in Chinese.....no idea what we we're actually charged for.

Yummy guide/cafe or whatever it's called now, used to be my go to after class at City. But after my last couple experiences I think I will be taking my business elsewhere. The big red flag for me was when I ordered take out and the girl at the register ran my card for $325.00!!!! She gave a refund but said it would not show until the next day. So for the following day I was on pins and needles waiting for the refund to go through. You'd think this would be enough to make me wanna go someplace else but I'm a fan of the food so I decided to give them another chance. The second and most current offense was last night when we came in to order takeout. The restaurant had a good number of people but it was far from busy, the girls at the counter were having their side conversation and giggling as I gave my order. We ordered the prawn & beef with scrambled egg over crispy noodles, fried rice and lo mein... I know, we love our carbs! So we were told that it would be a 10 minute wait and I'm sure this is just in my head but it just seemed like the staff there were joking about us in their language because every once in a while id catch them looking while they were laughing, but this isn't where the problem starts. The problem was when we got home. They got the crispy noodles and fried rice right but instead of lo mein, they gave us wonton soup... How does that happen? I know that we should've checked our order before leaving but without even thinking about we just assumed the order would be correct since it wasn't so busy that the staff would be able to focus but they were too busy joking around. Overall the food here is great, I recommend the prawns and beef over crispy noodles. But I strongly advise against ordering take out, if you do please bring cash to avoid any absent minded mistakes and always check your order before leaving! And if you dine in try to avoid the late night hours unless you're okay with dirty looks and the feeling that you are being talked about.

Great service and the food is delicious!! They open late so that's a plus to satisfy my late night hunger.

  • Samantha K.

Nothing bad, but nothing special either. Same type of HK style food and non existent service I'd find in Chinatown. They have a parking lot and are opened late for all us night owls out there.

    (3)
  • Kali C.

HORRIBLE. NASTY. INEDIBLE. Went here for a late night craving I had for chinese food. We ordered the black bean beef spareribs with rice and the chicken fried rice with broccoli instead of lettuce. Unless you like a thousand pounds of SALT added to your food, go elsewhere. I had to throw away half of my food because it was so salty. Nasty, nasty, nasty. Will never visit again. I would have done better to go to McDonald's. Next time, I will.

This place open late nights..2am every day of the week... Best milk tea in sac. Good appetizers: original egg puffs, curry fish balls and salt and pepper chicken wings. Yummo! Best tasting Milk Tea in Sac. :)

This place gets an extra star just for being open soooo late in Sacramento. Overall I'd probably rate it maybe a 3.5 then. I don't know a lot of places in Sacramento open this late! So when my friends took me here I was really surprised. The food itself isn't too bad. It reminds me of A Cafe in San Diego. For a late night munchie session it's pretty good, We got the Calamari, which was actually really nicely fried but there was no real seasoning. We ended up sprinkling a lot of salt on ours. The fried chicken wings were really good! Fried well and good flavor. We also got egg puffs which were good. The egg noodle with soup and won tons was ok, not great but not bad either. I really liked the Singapore Style Chow Fun! And I forgot what the last plate was called...It was one of the other noodle dishes with flat rice noodle stir fried in soy sauce with beef. That was really good too! The price for the food isn't too bad either. But I'd say the service is only so so, or maybe even a little non existent. I think the only time I talked to anyone working there was when we ordered, got our food and paid. When we needed something we had to get up and flag someone down. For the time I don't really mind that the service wasn't great, I understand that it's pretty late. I would definitely come here again for a late night meal, but it wouldn't be my first choice during the day time when I have more restaurant options.

    (3)
  • Alyssa C.

Been here a couple times with my husband and its actually not that bad. I like how they are open late because most places that serve food like this closes around 8pm. Service isn't always so great here but the price is decent. The egg puffs are a must =)

  • Heidi C.

Recently this place changed management, and not for the better. The plate I got had hair in it. Not a good start. The food was oily and bland, overcooked as well. My boyriend's soup was alright but again, very bland. Being my first time here I would have to say I'm not sure if I will go back. Perhaps we should've ordered something different because everyone else's food in the restaurant looked great. Oh well.

Awesome place to go to eat if you're craving some Hong Kong style food. There's this deal me and my bf get all the time when we go there. It's 3 dishes for 21.99 and you get to pick the 3 dishes you want. They serve it in a good portion and the egg puffs for dessert is good too! Only thing I gotta complain is we were there last night and one of the workers (I'm assuming manager) was wearing open toe heels while working. It's kind of dangerous to wear those to work isn't it? Besides that, this is a good place to go to because they open late and it's very convenient for us because we get off work late.

I'm such a sucker for spam, eggs and rice! But I feel like that's the only thing I've gotten every time I've came here. I've had the salt and pepper chicken before and it was decent. Egg puffs are good but not the best I've ever had. You still won't be disappointed. This place is open late night, the prices are on a college student budget, and the food is delicious. Every time my friends and I have came here, we've always enjoyed our food. Best place to go after a drunken night at the club if you are craving spam and eggs which I always am. This place has very simple meat and rice dishes that remind you of home if you are some kind of Asian. I LOVE IT!

It's good to come here late at night to get fried food. Their food is decent and the price is fair.

  • Rebecca T.

Ugh. Don't waste your time and appetite here. Save them for somewhere else! 1) Food was bad. We ordered the baked seafood spaghetti in white sauce. Ewww. It's watery and the seafood was not fresh. Then we also had the wonton noodle soup. What? The shrimp was microscopic and there was only 1 piece. That's it. The only average dish was the Singaporean stir-fried noodles. Yeah that was ok and it was the best already. For dessert, we tried the little egg puff. I wonder how it was possible that they could mess this up. It was not hot, not even warm. The puffs were not crispy on the outside.. 2) OVERPRICED 3) Service was bad. You might as well just serve yourself. Bottom line: When I go out and eat, as long as the food tastes great and doesn't make me sick, I don't really care about the service or the decor. The quality and taste of the food is the most important aspect in a good restaurant. And clearly Yummy Guide doesn't give a s***. Bye bye Yummy Guide!

  • Lisa C.

this place use to be really good but. its very disappointing now... i asked for string beans with minced pork and they dont have string beans and we asked for sweet n sour pork and the batter has no meat and terrible service..

  • Janet L.

these egg puffs have been raved by many, but the ones i got with my friend was practically still dough inside. nothing compared to SF. disappointed!

  • Mei W.

Place is great for late night snacks! Came here a couple times before after the clubs for a late night meal. I enjoy their dry wonton noodles (without the soup base). It's fairly decent. Their egg puffs are okay also - I prefer mine without the condense milk on the side! I don't think this restaurant would come across as my top pick for lunch or dinner. Cooking style is not spectacular; they don't have any entrees that are suuuper delicious or mouth watering. Everything here is something you can cook at home! If I'm ever hungry for a midnight snack, I know whose open!

    (3)
  • Steph G.

I used to like this place a lot until they increased their prices and started giving less. Oh well, at least less leftovers to try and finish the next day. I still like their baked chicken steak over rice or spaghetti since they put a lot of delicious sauce with it. Their chicken steak with curry sauce over rice is pretty good too. Also, the Portugal style chicken with rice or noodles is good too but sometimes there's not much meat. I highly recommend trying their egg puffs! They are so good, always hot and ready to devour! They are the reason why the restaurant smells like a sweet bakery when you first walk in. Service is fast too.

  • Helen H.

Food: Salt and Pepper Squid- Yummy! I loved the deep fried coating on this and the kick of spiciness. No leftovers from here! Curry Fish Balls- Skip this. The fish balls seems to be like the ones you will find at the Asian grocery store. They were covered with a thin yellow curry sauce. Green Onion Pancake- They look like thin tortillas with green onions- a healthy alternative. Eggpuffs- I liked the crispy edges. Best served hot. Other Notes: Hot tea served instead of water. They have an extensive menu, a bit overwhelming at first. They let a small dog into the restaurant. Not sure how sanitary that is. I wasn't able to read the check because it was written in Chinese. The food was not itemized either- only the total amount was given. I will most likely come back due to their cheap prices.

  • Brigette A.

Delicious! This place is authentic, so expect to see the menu written in another language! The service is alright, they get the job done. It is very casual here, laid back with TVs usually on. Affordable prices. Everything I've eaten here is good, no complaints. Try the black bean sauce chicken, chow fun is good and of course the egg puffs! Their soups are yummy too!

  • Lori N.

Just A-OK. The place was pretty empty on a Friday evening, so we were seated & served pretty quickly. The food came out in generous portions & is decently priced ($7-10 a plate), but it taste is nothing to write home about. I ordered the fish and chicken fried rice, which was good. A few of my friends ordered the chicken teriyaki (chicken served with skin & bones), pepper chicken stir fried udon, rice with chicken & sweet corn, and some dumpling soup with noodles served on the side. Everything tasted just like your average Chinese fast food fare I'd say. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again, but if I was in the area and craving some quick Chinese, I'd consider stopping by.

  • Andy L.

This place open till 2am and serves bitter melon, which I happen to like...a lot. Service is decent since I've been coming here for over 10 years....but the price is cheap...you get what you pay for =)

The best part about Yummy Juice would be their hours of operation. They closed at 2am which is great because I can fulfill my late night cravings for Chinese food. On the other hand Customer Service is always on the poor side in this Restaurant. You pretty much always have to refill your own tea if you want more because the waitresses are too busy watching Chinese movies or talking by the registers to each other. Overall the food is mediocre. The only dish I actually liked is the Peking Ribs! I may come back because of the late night hours this establishment has but not recommended because of the poor service they provide.

Ordered the fried sweet bun, and it was just alright. It would have been much better if the bun had red bean inside or some kind of filling. The bun was very warm and fresh; it tasted good with the condensed milk also. We also had the fried pig intestines and boyyy did it STINK! You dip it into a sweet chili sauce, which in my opinion made it taste much better. I'm not a fan of the intestines, but hey give it a try. My friends and I tried the baked pork chop over rice, which was basically baked pork chop with a tomato based sauce, eggs, and cheese on top of rice. We also tried the baked chicken with white sauce over rice. It was the same concept as the baked pork chop except that the sauce was coconut milk based, very interesting. I'd prefer the baked pork chop dish though. Definitely coming back to try something new! =)

Place to hang with friends until 2-3 am!!!!!!!!!!!! The price is reasonable, food is great and yum!!

Probably one of the most authentic Chinese places I've been to in awhile or authentic as restaurant food can be. I had the salt and pepper tofu and the Peking spareribs, which was rather good. The sauce was made in house, I believe, and didn't taste like the normal store bought sauce I'm accustomed to when eating Chinese. I got the combo for an extra dollar which isn't worth it cause the soup is weird and tasteless with with sparse minimal odd veggies and a single beef bone--the only complaint I have besides the bathroom. I would definitely go back.

  • Miss Duyen T.

Overall, I'd give this place 3.5 stars. Although food is not really good, my friends and I usually come here since they open until 2AM. Their menu is cheap as well, so come here if you have late night craving for some Chinese food. I like their egg puffs, seafood tofu clay pot, fried tofu/chicken, pepper short ribs (beef), salt and pepper spareribs/shrimp and fried fish. Service is fast and friendly. Free homemade soup is offered at no cost at every meal.

This review is based solely on take-out. I came here to pick up some dinner after coming back from visiting San Francisco, and it was kinda late. I wanted to try some place new rather than go to my usual late night spot, because I was craving some authentic Chinese food. This place is RIGHT next to the Round Table. It was kinda hard for me to find. Any real Chinese person knows that the best Chinese food comes from the not-so-clean-and-pretty places with the no-so-good service. As I walked in there was some waitress who kept yelling at me "how many?!" even though I kept repeating "just take out." No one gave me a menu to look at, so I kinda just looked around and figured out which menu I could order from. Maybe they assumed I knew which one cus I'm Chinese? I ordered the Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings since I saw Yelp tips for them, and the Lettuce and Chicken Fried Rice. The total was $14 exactly. When my boyfriend and I got home, I opened the containers and it smelled SOOOO GOOOOOD!!!! It surely was authentic Chinese food. My boyfriend kept saying he wasn't hungry, but when he saw and smelled the food, he ended up eating more than I did! There was 8 wings in the order, and a lot of fried rice. It was SO worth the $14!!! We ended up eating all the wings, and there's actually still some fried rice leftover. I will probably visit this place again, but I think take-out is best. Honestly, I wouldn't want to tip the waitresses here. :/ But I think I found a new late-night spot! :D

EGG PUFFS! EGG PUFFS!! EGG PUFFS!!! Did I mention the Egg Puffs?! The owner of this place makes the best Egg Puffs in Sacramento. It's so fluffy and the taste is so YUMMY! I've ordered food here before and it's average; nothing to rave about. There's also appetizers, drinks, and desserts. My favorite appetizers are the fried tofu and my favorite drink from there are the milk teas. Go try their egg puffs and you'll be hooked. :)

This place was awesome, I felt like I was in Hong Kong! I have a friend who is from Hong Kong and wanted to go out and eat, I suggested Simons ( due to me falling in lov with him again) but my friend suggested Yummy Juice. Yummy Juice? I've never heard of, but of course willing to try. We arrived at 9 pm and it was pretty packed. The smell when you first walk in is AWESOME!! It smells like sweet waffles and syrup!! The waitress was sweet and timed her arrival perfectly. She could tell I needed more time with the menu. Which I totally appreciated. Their drink selection rivals those of Tapioca Express and other boba places. I went with the honey lemon water. Simple but oh so good! It was 1.99 which is cheap compared to their other drinks. I ordered the curry chicken, which was good but not great. The taste was good but just the strange cut of the chicken, so many tendons and gristle, that it made me wonder what part of the chicken it was? After I ate most my food I made sure to save room for another drink. I ordered the cantaloupe shake.(4.99) It was tasty! You could tell it was freshly blended. Made with milk, ice and cantaloupe. I will be back for sure to sample the drink menu when in the area.

After a long night of drinking and clubbing, you need a place to sober up and get some food in you. Look no further because you came to the right spot. We have been coming in for years to handle our end of the night munchies. This place usually opens until 2am and we appreciate it every time. Snacks to share: salt pepper chicken wing, fried tofu The chicken wings are so delicious. It is something about the crispiness, the jalapenos, or the MSG that makes me crave this dish over and over again. The fried tofu is a great snack as well because they give you a lot. Dishes: seafood over crispy noodle with scramble egg, salted fish fried rice I always get the seafood over crispy noodle with scramble egg, it's kind of gross, but I call it the loogie noodles. Gross, yes I know, but I've been calling that for years. Order this, sprinkle on some pepper, soy sauce, and the spicy oils and you have yourself a delicious after club dish. The seafood includes shrimp, scallops, imitation crab, and squid. One time I did not order this and regretted it. Now, I always order it. Sober or drunk, this dish always hit the spot. Dessert: cream puff, waffle with peanut butter and condense milk If you have room in your belly for dessert, I highly recommend the two. Both fun to eat and it makes it feel good inside. The cream puff is easy to share in a group because you pull it apart. The waffle is a little trickier because it has all the fillings in it. A must try! Overall, I really like this place. It is not be best food in the world, but it is consistent and it keeps me happy. Keep in mind that this place is a zoo around 1-1:30am (after clubs close out.) 3 stars... Enjoy!

Worst service ever. If your are not Asian, don't come here. Egg puffs were the best things on the menu.

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me Came here with a friend twice for a late night snack and got the same stuff both times. salt and pepper chicken wings a tad too salty but a good tasty and juicy snack 3.5/5 pearl milk tea terrible hard old boba with lipton like bland tea. I can make better tea than this. We both tried it twice just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. Save you $3.50. 0/5 Overall, its cool that they are open late, but the food is quite subpar.

Lunch date and we were going to go to Dad's Kitchen, but the wait was tremendous, so we (jay)walked across the street because how could I say no to 'yummy juice'? Was a bit suspicious of this average looking Chinese restaurant next to a RoundTable, but we decided to go for it since the restaurant had 5 only-Asian tables. The menu was large, but we both ordered from the hand written lunch menu on one of the walls. Each dish came with a drink. I got a milk tea with spare ribs and bitter melon. The food was a bit greasy, but in a good way. The bitter melon was bad (for me), but hey, it was educational (now I know to /avoid/ bitter melon). The spareribs were tasty - tender and plentiful. So in a way we failed, because we didn't even try a 'yummy juice', but I still thought the place was pretty good. The options impressed me, the food was fast and satisfying and the service was er, serviceable. I'd return.

There's a shortage of Chinese dessert places in Sacramento (strange, when you consider how many Chinese people live here), so there's not much competition for Yummy Cafe. So even if this cafe depended on desserts to keep them afloat, they'd (surprisingly) still be able to make it. I ordered the mango and grapefruit sago, and I wasn't impressed at all. The tapioca was still in clumps when it was served! I had to mash it apart before mixing it in with the mango puree, and really, a grapefruit sago should have more than two chunks of grapefruit in it. The other desserts that my friends ordered looked a little more promising: the egg puffs, the ice cream and waffles, and the mango split (ice cream served on mango slices and topped with lychee and other fruits). Still, I see myself returning only once in a very blue moon.

The Good: I like the food at this place and always order the sizzling fried pork chop or chicken wing. I love the egg puffs and their mango icey thing. When I was a student at UC Davis, I would come with my friends and get a late night snack since it opened up really late. I know this place ain't that clean but its a Chinese food establishment so what ya expect? The Bad: So I moved down to San Diego but came back to Davis to visit my friend recently and I wanted to come back to this place. It's been 2 years and the place was still had the same feel... tables still sticky, TV's played Chinese channels, etc Ordered a sizzling pork chop and my friend got the crispy noodles with chicken and veggies. As my friend was eating, suddenly stopped and said "gross, there is a bug here." It turned out to be a fried bee of some sort in the food! It was pretty disgusting and I wasn't too happy. Called over the waitress and she was shocked, told the chef who said we wouldn't be charged for it. We did our best to not get too angry but man, bug in food is never a good thing. I will definitively not have cravings to come back here again for a long time :(

I have been a HUGE fan of Yummy Juice Cafe for the last 3.5 years, always driving 20-30 minutes from Davis just to get some food! UNTIL TODAY. I always order the pan-fried black pepper beef udon noodles w/ the mango or strawberry slushie w/ aloe vera. When I got my food today, the noodles were undercooked/cold and were still white-ish, completely different from the dark/pepper-y plate I get every time I come here! The noodles had no flavor to them, and I barely got any beef or veggies. When I asked the server to have the chef cook it some more, she gave me attitude and told me that the noodles were "supposed to be that way." The chef supposedly "cooked the noodles some more" but all they seemed to have done was just replate it. If you're looking for a place that cares about your feedback and your business, Yummy Juice Cafe is not the place. The only server here who is actually genuinely friendly is the lady with the straight/short hair. Word of caution: the servers will assume that you don't speak Cantonese and talk behind your back. RUDE. Horrible service + inconsistent quality = I'll take my money elsewhere. -1 star for horrible service and -1 for inconsistency of food. Other than that, the egg puffs are really yummy, their drinks are pretty good, and they have some good deals for food available. Oh, and they have free wi-fi!

For cheap Chinese food, this is the place to go. They have a fairly large menu, and great deals during happy hours. During happy hours, you can get a rice plate and a drink for around $6-7. One thing that is different about this Chinese restaurant is they're open until 3am. Not many are open that late, so it's definitely convenient if you're out late and looking for a place to grub. For a small party of 2-4 people, they have a lunch or dinner menu that comes with rice, soup, and your choice of 3 dishes from their menu, all for only $22-$23. I gave it 3-stars because over the years, the quality started to go down, but it's still decent food for the price. The workers there are generally quick to take your order, and will come around a few times to check on you during your time there. I've had a few experiences where there was barely anyone at the restaurant, but no one refilled my water. It's a hit or miss as far as the service goes. Like a few others have mentioned, majority of the staff knows very limited English. If you know Cantonese or Toisan, it's a plus. Overall, this is decent place to eat at if you're out late with friends or family, and they're the only place opened. It's hard to find decent and cheap food these days!

Cheap bites for late night. We went after the state fair and there were plenty of seating at 10:30PM. We had the Ying Tang fried rice, thats half white sauce and half red sauce. Definitely a crowd pleaser, the rice noodles with XO sauce. I wasn't a fan of the rice noodles because they were definitely too crispy and hard. I wish it was a bit softer in the inside. They also had a peanut sauce which I wasn't a fan of. We ended with the egg puff, which is very standard. Nothing too out of the ordinary. The bill came out to be extremely cheap. $20 bucks with tip for 2.

Usually I come here after going out at night because they close at 3 am, but today I'm to write a good review and honestly I do like this place. That's because I've tried a lot and I've finally found what I will order here all the time. Like I said before, don't expect great service coming to a Chinese restaurant unless you can speak it. And this place, there service isn't bad, even on their late nights at like 2 am but you food will come out slower than normal. Every one comes here after the club or just to eat because they do close at 2-3 am on the daily. This place is pretty big and it's really good for groups. There's a screen for projection to watch a Chinese movie on. And there's a small flat screen on the right. Their menu offers 3 items for 21.99. A regular menu that offers a variety of food from spaghetti, rice, noodles, meat dishes to dessert. A range selections. What I've ordered. Chicken wings, salt and pepper tofu, salt and pepper shrimp, pan udon fried noodle with black pepper sauce, salt and pepper calamari, and almost half of the 3 items for 21.99, like: sweet and sour chicken, Modigliani beef, pecking spareribs, salt and pepper spare ribs, basically all of the spareribs with different marinade I've tried. I come here a lot at night. What can I say, I went out a lot with my friends. For dessert I like getting the egg puffs with condense milk. Simple and easy to eat. My main dishes that I love to order: pan udon with black pepper sauce, salt and pepper tofu, and salt and pepper calamari. When it comes to the 3 items I finally decided on my favorite 3: the salt and pepper shrimp, sweet and sour chicken and the pecking spare ribs. Honestly if you've tried better Chinese food then you have but I really like the things that I usually order, especially the pan udon with black pepper sauce. It's so good. It's the sauce that got me, there's something about it because my friend and I always get it with extra black pepper sauce. Anyway Would I come back? You know it.

My friend and I came here primarily for dessert and we were both very happy with our decision! You have to order up at the front counter as well as pay there so it is essentially self-serve. We ordered the coconut milk with sago and sesame dumplings as well as egg puffs. Everything came out perfectly! I loved the sesame dumplings and how the sesame came out and flavored the coconut milk once I bit into it! The egg puffs were sweetened just to the right degree and were super yummy once I dipped them in the milk! Overall great experience but just average service. This place is one of the few places that I'm willing to overlook service for good food. Can't wait to come back. :)

I been here a few times. I usually come here late at night since it's one of the few places that is open. This place isn't that great and service is kind of slow. Their food is okay, but we usually just order something small like their egg puffs and sit around to talk. The place is somewhat cheap, but I only recommend this place if you need somewhere to go after 12am.

Food here quite testy. The price is $ friendly. The atmosphere was cool, casual nothing more. They open pretty late, so it's good thing for those vamp like my self. Beside , no other restaurant open that late in this area that over cheap food with good taste. I will coming back n recommend this place to my friends. O.., don't forget the desert too. Try mix fruit bowl. It's pretty sweet. Server is frendly too even though you can at 1:00am.

This place gives me a home feeling everytime I come to it. There's a yummy cafe back in my hometown and everything about this place reminds me of it. It's always nice when a restaurant is open late, especially on club nights when everyone out and drunk, we all know the drunkies are real when they're here. This place has just the exact food you need, drunk or not. They also have a lot of good snacks for those who are just trying to snack. The one thing everyone needs to order is a ice cold lemon tea. It's the best thing when it's hot out and it's refreshing like no other. On the main menu, I've had the black pepper chicken steak over rice, and it was delicious. It taste just like home. The tomato beef noodle was also very delicious. Everything tasted like authentic chinese food, the way it's suppose to taste. On the snack menu, the egg puffs are a popular one. I like the salt pepper chicken wings also. This is a very affordable place, the prices aren't steep and you get what you paid for. What more can you ask for? Check this place out.

Probably hands down, the best place to get egg puffs (flavored) in Sacramento for cheap! The staff is super nice and it's kind of embarrassing when they become aware of who you are because you're a regular. Love that it's a "mom & pop" establishment that doesn't shift away from the norms by trying to renovate their menu items in order to cater to picky eaters. If you've never been, try their wonton soup with bok choy, combination fried rice (with beef, pork, chicken, & shrimp), or their pepper and garlic chicken wings. They're satisfying!

I remember when this place had first opened, it was soo good and super cheap. I use to love their baked chicken/pork over rice, desserts were even better. But things have surely changed. I keep trying to like this place again, but everything seems bland and a little slimy! I got their tomato beef this last time and like the previous occasion, the meat had this reheated microwaved taste. The food was good before, I think the previous owners made the hype and now these new owners are just coasting and have no pride in this establishment. Sad! :(

Cheap food, there's a cheap lunch menu with a good amount of selection for like under $8 bucks. I ordered the egg puffs and the salt and pepper tofu. Boy did the food take long to get out. The tofu was small and was just filled with oil. The egg puffs were soooo hard and not hallow, but more cakey batter inside. It was just stiff, you can throw it at someone and hit their head to knock them out. My bf had the tomato beef, the sauce was sweet, the beef was not bad, it was served on rice. I had to eat the tofu with some rice, else it was too dry and plain. The lunch special comes with a drink too, either hk style ice tea, or regular lemon tea. Service was slow too, so not really a plus either.

**** Make sure to check your order before leaving. They tend to get orders wrong...Especially at night when they're rushing to get everyone out So...this place has terrible customer service (like trying to force you to leave a tip after only ordering a boba drink and only dropping your food off and not coming back till you ask for your bill bad service) and the waitresses like to complain & talk shit about customers in Cantonese but I guess that should be expected with most Asian restaurants. The only reason I deal with them is because they're one of the better late night eateries. Their dishes are all around $7-10 and another plus is I love their yummy egg puffs. If you haven't tried their egg puffs then def head over there and order some to-go! Aside from their egg puffs I also like their seafood crispy chow mien (boyfriend basically inhaled it the other night), pan fried udon noodles, and their baked black pepper chicken with spaghetti!

I only come here because a. they are open late night on weekends and b. it's relatively close to my house. The food is mediocre--if that. We usually order the specials they offer (three dishes for ~$25) plus the egg puffs (literally the only reason I keep coming here). I've tried their mapo tofu (bland and the sauce tastes like it came from a packet), deep fried spare ribs (decent tasting), pan fried udon with chicken (extremely oily and flavorless, chicken was also really dry), beef chow fun (pretty good), wet chow fun with eggs and shrimp (I would like this dish better if they omitted the squid but overall decent tasting), the lunch special baked pork chop (one of the best things I've eaten here), and their Hong Kong style egg puffs with strawberry inside (THE BEST EGG PUFFS IN SAC... depending on who makes it). Service is non-existent as waitresses simply bring out your food and are never seen again. We usually re-fill our own water and teas and, once we've finished eating, proactively go up to the front counter to pay and ask for to-go boxes. Overall, this place is good if you're DESPERATE to find a place to hangout and sober up after a night of drinking. There are several other Chinese restaurants I'd prefer going to before this one but I'm not always the DD! :)

I've been coming here for years because their food is consistent and tasty. They have a large menu so you're guaranteed to find something to please everyone. They have authentic Chinese and Hong Kong dishes, but also American dishes like French fries and chicken wings haha. My favorites are: Soy sauce noodles - simple, but tasty. Thin noodles are stir fried with strips of white onion and bean sprouts, though I always ask for no bean sprouts. Baked pork chop spaghetti - tender pork chops in a tangy and sweet tomato sauce are served over noodles (or rice), topped with cheese, and baked. It sounds kinda strange, but the sauce is so good! A must try, at least once. Staff aren't as attentive, but food always comes out hot. Not sure how their English is because my mom always orders in Chinese, but the menu has numbers and pictures which can be helpful.

Let's all admit it -- we don't go here for the service; it's nonexistent. The same can be said with most Chinese restaurants, no offense. I'm part-Chinese, by the way, so don't flame me! I come back because it's a really convenient and good late-night spot. The food is really cheap and quick, and the taste is not bad at all, depending on what you get. They have a lot of options, but I've eaten here so many times I know which items are good and which dishes shouldn't even be on the menu. My go-to's are: Baked Sliced Chicken w/ Cream Sauce on Rice, Chicken Steak, Sweet Corn w/ Chicken on Rice, and Salted Fish & Chicken Fried Rice. Can't go wrong with those ~

This place is my favorite spot to eat late at night. They got some bomb egg puffs too! And they got lunch specials with very good price and my wife loves the salty fish fried rice they close really late and everything is so cheap!!!!

My boyfriend and I paid a visit yesterday around 5:30 PM and there was literally no one inside except workers. When we walked in, we were greeted and asked if it was for a table for two and the waitress told us to pick a spot to sit. Afterwards, she walked over to the table to hand us ice water and the menus. I came here with family before and their service isn't really great, but it's acceptable. When she asked what we would like, we ordered the salt and pepper tofu, steamed rice rolls, club sandwich, and red bean ice with ice cream. First out came the red bean ice with ice cream and I thought it didn't taste as good as the previous time I ordered it, whereas my boyfriend thought it was alright. Next out came the salt and pepper tofu and the steamed rice rolls. We thought these were pretty bomb because the tofu was crunchy on the outside and soft on the side, plus it had the perfect balance of salt and pepper. The rice rolls had a good peanut buttery spin along with yummy hoisin sauce. Last was the club sandwich and I think this was our least favorite. When I picked up the sandwich, my fingers were full of butter/grease, but I took a bite anyways and I wasn't feeling it. I didn't like the sandwich at all, but I didn't want to waste food, so I ate as much as I could. Our total came up to be $24 and I thought it wasn't that bad, but I regret ordering the club sandwich and the red bean ice with ice cream. The last three times that I've been here (other than the red bean ice with ice cream), I ordered either the iced Hong Kong styled milk tea or the iced honey lemon tea and those were bomb. Next time I come here, I'll order one of those drinks instead of the red bean ice with ice cream. Overall, this is a great place for midnight snacks (ex. salt and pepper tofu and steamed rice rolls.) If you're more into service than food, then this isn't the right place for you. On the other hand, if you're more into Asian desserts or late night munchies, then this is the spot I would recommend.

My husband and I get off work pretty late (9pm-11pm) and where we live, there's not too many places open for late night dinners. Sometime last year, we decided to try this place out for dinner, I heard about this place from my Father. They have an extensive menu! So much to choose from! It's also Hong-Kong style food, which some other people don't understand, referring to reviews cause they're confused about the spaghetti and pork chops for example. They also have Chinese style food of course. This is a Chinese restaurant so they play Chinese shows on the tv, speak Chinese to each other. More authentic right? Haha. Now for the food, my husband and I have our favorites. We like the beef chow fun and dry scallop and egg yolk fried rice. They're so delicious. The egg puffs are killer too. My favorite is the vanilla and chocolate. We come here so much cause the food is good to the point where they know us. Haha. The food is tasty, staff friendly, and they're good for late night crowds. Indeed a yummy cafe. :D

Yummy cafe is very good home style chinese food. I like the tofu and the chicken wing appetizers. Tonight we ordered tomato beef with rice and crunchy noodles, and a mango milkshake. All of the dishes were winners, always a good experiences when going to yummy. Try the egg puffs for dessert.

I really want to continue liking this place after years of support... however the food just continue getting worst when my friend and I walked out barely finishing our food .. paid 30 bucks and had to go somewhere else to grab something to eat. Ever since they changed owners the food tased bland. And food looked all gooey and threw shit together in 5 minutes... I dont think I would ever come back again. Unless im raving for asian food at 2am.

Haven't been here in such a long time! This place has changed several owners since its grand opening years ago. I use to really enjoy coming here because it reminds me of cafes Cafes in Hong Kong but the quality has gone down since then. You go in and seat yourself. Lunch menu is already placed at your table and full menu is available to grab next to the cashier. Good thing about this place is it closes at 2AM. We got the fried chow fun with beef, spam and eggs ramen noodles, fried fish balls, and Ovaltine. The fried chow fun had so much MSG, my mouth was really dry after the meal. It was also overly greasy. There were more bean sprouts than chow fun; it was not a good balance. My favorite fried fish balls were done poorly here; it was too chewy and rough and the teriyaki sauce didn't go well with it. Standard spam and egg ramen, but the noodles had this weird taste to it. Standard Ovaltine. Service was average. I don't see this place getting better anytime soon under this management. Unlikely to return, even though this place reminds me most of HK :(.

If you're looking for late night asian food, this is probably your best bet since most asian restaurants close really early. This restaurant is open to 2am.. Crazy. And yes, people are there that late. The service could do some work. They're not extremely rude but they could be more welcoming. The food makes up for it though so it's alright. The deep fried tofu and egg puffs are really good here. Everything's a pretty decent price too.

What a bad day. I had a craving for Chinese food-- salt and pepper chicken wings, beef chow fun, and salt and pepper tofu. The salt and pepper chicken wings were salty and spicy. However, the tofu and the chow fun were bland-- not spicy or salty. Even the chow fun had a weird taste-- not quite soy sauce or fish sauce, but something. So onto the service. When I go to Asian places, I actually don't expect good service. It rarely ever happens. But today was for lack of a better word, crappy. One-- it took too long to get the food, a good half an hour. The cashier didn't bother to come by and say it was coming soon AND when some people who came in after us sat down, they got their food first. WTH?! And when we asked when our food was coming out, the female cashier said "yes". That question requires a quantitative, not a qualitative answer. Finally, when we got our order, based on another reviewer, we checked to make sure our order was correct-- it wasn't. Instead of the chicken wings, we got calamari. They said 10 minutes more. No offer of a discount or even let us have the calamari as a consolation. And they made us wait at least 15-20 minutes for the chicken so our tofu and chow fun got cold. Let's just say my friend reamed them a new one. And one final thing-- I could heard the cooks laughing in the back while cooking food. Obviously they don't care enough about customers to get their food right, especially ones who get to go food. What a waste of $23.60.

A simple Chinese cafe style restaurant. The service was pretty bad and slow even when we came at an empty time. But, its pretty expected of a Chinese restaurant of this caliber. The food was sub-par at best, oily and msg filled. Its really cheap though. Overall, I would not return to this place but I guess its an ideal joint to hang out late at night or when you have munchies, OPENS till 2AM!

  • LY L.

Check your to-go order before you leave. One thing that they do well is they will mess up your order royally. If you order chicken, they might give you squid, I know this for a fact because it happened to me. I also ordered salt and pepper tofu, and there was NO salt in it. Why didn't they just call it pepper tofu if salt isn't in the food???? And the chow fun dish that some yelpers were raving about was just another major disappointment. It looks brownish, sad, and unappetizing and it tastes even worse. I should stick to my East Sac/Mid-town area for chinese food because this venture to Curtis Land Park chinese food is nothing but a waste of gas, time, money and added annoyance. That was my first and last visit at this establishment. Instead of Yummy cafe as clearly there is nothing yummy about it, they should call it dummy cafe because this place is run by a bunch of dummies.

First time here....def thought walking in..."eh oh...this is another pho spot". But not at all.... this is an awesome hole in the wall asian restaurant, that serves a lot of unique dishes that no other asian restaurant here in sac offers. I plan to come back when Im drunk and am in need of some food therapy haha. Theres a '3 dishes for 21.99' special....

Id like to think of this place as an Asian Denny's . I frequently came here a few years ago and thought very highly of it . Sometime last year or late 2013, they changed owners and I think that's when I immediately noticed the change in food. You'll notice they now have some American items to choose from like sandwiches for example . Not a bad thing although one night when some friends and I came for some late night grub we ordered a nice amount of food including a club sandwich for my friend , steak/chicken wing /hot dog rice plate for my boyfriend, ( weird combo ) and hk style chow mein for myself . My friend was baffled to see that his club sandwich consisted of: mayo, one piece of ham, a scrambled egg piece, and cheese. It was overpriced at $10 ! Where was the damn bacon ?! ( imo, what do you expect from a place that doesn't specialize in sandwiches though? ) my bf said the steak tasted like freezer burn and could no longer eat it , as for me, the noodles were decent but seemed as if the gravy was just msg and oil. The second time around , it was just me and my bf, we ordered calamari and combination chow mein , yum! Better choice although we left as zombies from the msg overload ! One thing I'd also like to add is they only have 2 selections to choose from for their fountain drinks : diet and regular coke .

I recommend coming to this restaurant at night time a few hours before they close. It's not as crowded and service tends to be better somehow lol when I come in the afternoon, there are times where I feel forgotten or to the point where I have to flag down a waitress. Night time around 12 or 1am, the waitress seems to be more aware, maybe because there are less people. Don't get me wrong, this place can be super crowded at night time but not right before they close. But again, don't be those customers trying to dine in half an hour before they close! The food is satisfying enough for a good snack or small meal when I'm craving rice. The price is pretty low which i like, and the meal always fills me up! I always order the rice with the teriyaki chicken and my bf gets some udon curry thing which is good. He also got some combination plate thing where there's Hella meat served on those hot stones and you get spaghetti and some other stuff. It's pretty good and filling! You'll find it on their menu on the side somewhere. I really like their lemon tea, but 3 bucks, you kidding me? They do add huge ass lemon slices which I like but man, those lemon slices are taking up half of my tea! Get the egg puffs! As weird as it sounds and looks, they're strangely addicting. If you're a person who can't defend yourself, please don't come to this place alone at night. It always looks like there's a gang hanging around here!

Great place if you're looking for a late night place to eat that isn't Denny's. Don't expect too much from the food, but its good/alright and CHEAP. Service is meh like any other Chinese place. The milk tea is good here is you are looking for that strong tea taste and not that watered down stuff at Quickly.

Five stars for drunken nights!!!!! Best place to get something good to eat after a night of fun! This place is probably most convenient place to eat between downtown heading south to land park or pocket. Its also located close to city college so naturally after a late class, this is the place to eat! The service has gotten better since the new owner and overall its the same delicious place! The waiting time is not bad either. You're basically in and out within a reasonable time. The seafood bake is delicious! So are the salt and pepper chicken wings and fried udon, which is like chow mien with udon noodles! GET the egg puffs! All the flavors are amazing and mouth watering.

Lately, every time I come this place, their name changes. Get it together, yummy juice, yummy guide, or yummy cafe!! Authentic Hong Kong style Chinese food that is served very late. Either 2 or 3am, I can't remember because it can't keep up. Their salt pepper wings and pork chops are to die for if it's made correctly. Sometimes it's on point, and sometimes it's overly salty. The beef chow fun is also really good. They will ask you if you want it wet or dry, say dry!! The wet one is very saucey. Their egg puffs are a must try. It's very fluffy and crispy. They have a wide variety of food to choose from. Try their spaghetti with white sauce. It taste like Asian Alfredo! Their service is so so. Sometimes you don't get any because all they do is seat you down, take your order, bring your food out, and you come out to pay. Don't take me wrong though, their food comes out really quick!

This place is okay I guess. Walked in with a large party around 11pm on a Saturday night and it seemed pretty busy. There are about 3 or 4 waitresses. We sat down and they took our drink orders pretty fast and we had to flag one of the waitresses down for our order. I didn't really know what to order. Their menu had so many things on it and some of it confused me... Our table of girls ordered honey lemon teas which was really good! Too bad it was $2.99. Such a rip off for a glass of sweetened tea with lemon slices inside. We had egg puffs to share which were very good and addicting. You have to eat them while they're fresh or else they will get hard and cold. I also ordered the minced beef over rice. It was okay. I wasn't too hungry so maybe it didn't seem to appetizing to me. But for the prices here, nothing can beat it!

Here you can eat inside or outside... They keep it well clean and neat. Customer service after being there several times is so/so. The food is VERY cheap in price, but soooo delicious! I love their food. Every time I been there I have always been pleased! Couldn't be more satisfied. Everything I had I loved! I will return as much as I can. This place stays open til 3am on Saturdays so if you just got done with the bar or just on a late night munchie then make this the place! Will recommend everyone this place.

The latest visit to order my usual garlic chicken wings was the tastiest I've ever had it. They usually make a bit too salty for me, but I still come? Will most likely continue to come--close by.

Tried this place last night since everything else was closed. Tried their shrimp fried rice, Mongolian beef, and salt & pepper chicken wings. Everything taste like they sprinkled MSG all over the food, literally. If you want something fast and inexpensive, then this is your spot, but i don't think I'll be coming back anytime soon.

The workers here don't speak very good English, but a majority of their customers are not English-speaking. The food comes out quick. The waitresses are not very attentive but whatever you may need, they make it work. Their food is really good. I really like their shrimp fried rice and salt and pepper chicken wings. The salt and pepper chicken wings are really ALL wings. I'm a wings person, so that made me super happy. The shrimp friend rice has a little fishy taste to it. I'm assuming they put some fish sauce in it. Nonetheless, it's my favorite dish they have. My little brothers love the sweet and sour (orange) chicken rice plate. My boyfriend like the salt and pepper short ribs rice plate. Both dishes are very good as well. BIG PLUS: they are open late! I'm a night owl so I live for these late night food spots. A lot of their customers get the "wet egg" style over rice, so I really want to try that next time. Overall, their food is great.

Late night Chinese food cravings? This is the place. They're open late and food definitely hits the spot. I've tried their yang chow fried rice, salt and pepper wings, steamed rice rolls, pork and preserved egg porridge, and beef stew with noodle soup. Salt and pepper wings are a must get in my opinion. Very well seasoned and juicy chicken. Yang chow fried rice is a little on the oily side but you could definitely ask them to use less oil. They do give a good amount of bbq pork which is a plus.Their steamed rice rolls were ok. I've definitely had better before and I have a feeling their rice rolls isn't that fresh. They use a lot of some sort of peanut sauce that to me is too overpowering. Their porridge is okay, I think their porridge base could've been cooked a bit longer but that's my preference. I do recommend getting it if you're feeling under the weather. The beef stew with noodle soup is flavorful. They give a good amount of noodles so it isn't a small portion of noodles with a lot of broth. The broth isn't bland, you can really taste the beef stew. Oh! How could I forget about their egg puffs, the reason why I first came to Yummy Cafe. Egg puffs here are mediocre. Their batter is pretty thick so it doesn't have that light and fluffy texture eggs puffs are suppose to have.

My friends and I dropped by this restaurant for late night dinner due to it is one of few restaurants opened. This restaurant has changed ownership many times and I was not sure about the quality of the food from the new owner. I ordered a Beef Chow Fun which is the "standard" dish I used to measure quality of a new Chinese restaurant I visit. It is better than I expected and it was much better than last owner. However, it is the typical service you expected from many Asian restaurant which is somewhat inattentive. If you want some quick late-night dinner and service is not a your top concern. This restaurant is okay.

4 stars because they get the job done and are open late. I have been looking for a decent Chinese place thats open late. I lived in the Bay Area for 7 years and 4 of those years was in Berkeley where there was a lot of late night spots. I ordered the Sweet and Sour Pork. It was good, again, not great, like a lot of the reviews here say. I'd definitely come back to this place only because its open late and its on my way home from classes at Sac City. Another reason for the 4 stars is that its cheap. You get a good amount for what you pay for. I came on a busy night, so I guess I was expecting it to be great, but turns out it was just a group of somesort, most likely a church group. There is also a huge selection to choose from, so there is bound to be one that you just really like. I haven't come across that yet, but lets hope its here. Summary: Open late and cheap and a lot. Dont expect super great food, but it does fill up the tummy.

Holy S### this place is awful!!! When I walked through the door I thought I may have walked into a very bad Twilight Zone episode. The menu offers a choice of spaghetti or rice as a side. Terribly confused, I powered through and ordered some curried chicken. Smash cut to 2 minutes later and my food was sitting in front of me......Either food cooks faster here than anywhere else on the face of the Earth or they just had the food sitting under heat lamps ready to slap onto plates for their unsuspecting customers. I am assuming it is the latter. The food arrives and looks disgusting. The look of the curry could best be described as baby vomit. The taste was even worse. The best description would be if somehow some hobo dandruff was caught in a spiders web. Please for the sake of humanity, stay away from this place.

Not sure why there are two yelps for Yummy Juice Cafe? On the original page for Yummy Juice Cafe I gave it 5 stars! Tonight I went and just had a quick snack, I ordered the spaghetti over pork chops and as always it came out really good. I then decided to try something new and ordered the grass jelly with coffee and ice cream, needless to say it tasted excellent! Although my girlfriend did order seafood with white sauce on top of rice and they gave us spaghetti instead. We didn't mind too much cause everyone makes mistakes, but we did notify them and they where more than happy to exchange it. We ended up keeping the spaghetti dish since it wasn't that big of a deal. Best thing that happened was they gave us free egg puffs on the house! Love this place! Definitely recommend anyone in the Sacramento area to try it.

I really wouldn't go here unless I absolutely have to for whatever reason. The drink isn't that great to me at all. And nor was the food. Besides the fried chicken, everything else is way too bland. I especially hated the soup that I ordered. My cousin got a different kind of soup and it was bland just like mines. NEVER AGAIN. The customer service was bad. Chinese lady gave me a bunch of attitudes over nothing. Prices are doable, but definitely not inexpensive for some Chinese foods. Nah. I'm good off this place.

This place has changed ownership's so many times in the past few years; so much that I can't even keep track on who owns the place anymore. This used to be the spot to hit up for cheap lunches and/or late night eats after the bars/clubs. Now, I don't know if it is still the spot to hit up after a night in town, but the cheap lunch part is still kind of still true. Why is it "kind of" true you may ask? While the prices have remain pretty cheap for an entree and a free drink during lunch hours, the food quality has gone down (not that it was GREAT back then). The service was never great here, but the past few times I've been here has hit or miss. I guess it could be worst, there used to work this short haired lady that was just straight up rude.

    (3)
  • Ada W.

I don't understand why they bring out the entree my boyfriend ordered first as opposed to my appetizer... He was done with his meal before my dish even came out. We waited 20 more minutes for it to come out as I watch all the other people that came in after me get served, some even finished their meal. No waitress came around to tell me it would take a little longer. It was when my bf went to pay, they told him it was almost done. He was nice enough to wait a little longer. My appetite had been lost already. The service here sucks, every time. Sometimes the food comes out a miss most of the time, but you get what you pay for. I appreciate them having a large variety of food.

I was belligerently drunk and someone suggested we all go to "Yummy Juice". First thing that came to my mind: "Freakin awesome name". Its gotta be 2am and why haven't I heard about this "Yummy Juice" place that's open right now? We got there and my expectations dropped a little. It looked like a no frills Chinese restaurant but I wasn't complaining. The menu surprised me with offerings of fried pig intestines, curry fishballs with pigskin, spicy pig ears?!?! Excited and disappointed at the same time!! I gotta try some of this stuff!! But I am vegetarian for the time being. I didn't see anything that I could eat on the menu. I asked the waiter if they had anything vegetarian and she said they can make fried rice or chow fun vegetarian. I ordered the chowfun. Not expecting much while already drunk I was very pleased with what I got. My chowfun was drowned in gravy and delicious. There were different types of mushrooms (really good) when I was only expecting vegetables. It hit the spot and I knew I'd found a new late night gem.

I am from Taiwan and have been looking for a place that offers some "small dishes" such as they have here. Yes, it's kinda dirty and run down. Would I let my 1 year old craw around on the floors? Heck no! Would I let him eat the food? Heck yeah! It was YUMMY! I had the number 1 lunch special. Not an ounce of veggies in sight, just a huge slab of fried chicken cutlet smothered in garlic sauce. Batter was crunchy and delicious! Hubby got black bean fish which was also good. Egg puffs were a bit dense, IMO, but still happy to even get some egg puffs around here. Overall, yummy food and some unique items on the menu not found in other more "typical" Chinese restaurants. Bottom line: I'll be back!

-5 star: This one waitress here is TERRIBLE. My friends tipped her like $1.25 because they only got 2 drinks, and she straight up said in front of them "Really?! That's it?!?" She always has a really bad attitude, like its our fault that she's so busy and

There isnt much HK cafe around here anymore. Their food is just so so. Not great but good enough to get you by. Today i had the tomato beef and eggs over rice. LIke i said its so so. I also had the pork intestent salt n pepper style. Different but OK. There is one thing here that a do crave for is their LEMON ICED TEA. There is something bout it that so good. Weird thing bout it, is if you did'nt notice its just Limton tea. I'm not sure is the the sugar that they use in it or the fresh cut lemon that is laid on top of the ice lol. Don't ever pay reg price at 2.99 for it tho. If you go while its happy hour you pay ONE DOLLAR more for a small meal. for Exp. You can get their Won ton egg noodle soup and tea for 3.99. Don' expect it to be a big bowl it only comes with 3 wontons. LOL.. DONT FORGET YOUR TEA while your their. haha

It's HK quick cafe stuff here...casual all the way. Juices, HK desserts, spaghetti and rice plates, etc. Just came by a few hours ago---some curried beef brisket stew rice lunch special ($6.5 incl. tax). Braised the right amount of time, bit spicy (not complaining). Service was (as Holden Caulfiled would say) backa******, however, and super frustrating to deal with. They're a confused lot; 20 mins to wait for one to-go quick special, especially since no other customer in line, and the beef was already cooked?!? Horrible--- Wasn't in the mood for egg puffs, but guess they're good here. Mainly Chinese speaking cashiers, servers, and clientele. Menu all up on the walls, everywhere. 1430 starts tea-time discounts, and lunch specials:11-1730

Spaghetti sauce and rice over pork chops? =/ YIKES. We ordered fried salt and pepper chicken wings (greasy, but tasty) the wonton soup (OBVIOUSLY rotten lettuce in the bowl, should have been cabbage anyways..who puts LETTUCE in soup?!) Peking spare ribs (good, but low quality meat..) the wontons in the soup were ok..but isn't WONTON soup supposed to have all wontons in it? There was only 4=/ The other noodles were rice noodles, they were not cooked long enough, hence the firmness of them. Overall, Id say if you are in desperate need of food after 12am, and you are drunk, and you are crazy, eat here=)

we went here after a meeting, and were pleasantly surprised. We had pork ears, cause we had never had any before, and we found them odd, not in a bad way, but in a "oh I have never had these before, I wonder if they always taste like this" kind of way ;) haha. we had a stew, which wasn't the greatest, but the potatoes were good. and we had a ground beef curry which was pretty good. We will give them a second chance, we had an exciting night, and we really enjoyed our time here. the waitress didn't speak English very well, so at times it could seem kind of rude, but you could see in the interactions between the older gentleman behind the counter and her that there is no ill intent.

Three stars for this place because the food is pretty decent and good for the cheap price. Portions are big and I can taste all the MSG in the food. I think thats why the food here taste good. I usually come here because it doesn't close till really late.

I have only been here two times and the food is average, nothing special but a good place for a midnight snack and dessert. The food is cheap and greasy but I cannot complain when I am looking for a Chinese food fix at 11pm in Sacramento. I have only tried the mango sago dessert, which is pretty good but not the best I have had. The eggettes, according to Jenny C. are the best and cooked properly. She likes it more dense and chewy. I prefer my eggettes more cripsy and have just a little bit of dough in the middle. I would come here for dessert if I was already in Sacramento. What I recommend: - the family meals - eggettes

Ever since they changed ownership, it just isn't the same. The service has gotten worst, the egg puff has no flavor, they taken down at least 6 items from the lunch special and the food is blah.

Yummy Juice Cafe is a unique spot for Sacramento. They serve everything from egg sandwiches, fried chicken wings, won ton soup, french fries, to fried pork chop spaghetti. There are plenty of options and everything is fairly priced at about $7 or so, each dish. There are many hand-written lunch specials taped to the walls, which include milk tea. My favorite dish, as odd as it may sound for a Chinese restaurant, is the fried pork chop spaghetti. The noodles are thick, yet soft and complement the sweet tomato sauce well. There are about 3 thinly sliced, fried pork chops on top and the whole dish is baked together with some cheese on top. It's surprisingly tasty. Overall, the food is pretty good. Some dishes are better than others. I would avoid ordering any dishes with shrimp; the last couple times I ordered them, the shrimp just tasted funny. Also, this is one of the few places I know of that serve egg puffs in Sacramento. They aren't as crispy as I like them to be, but still good. The service is not the best, but still helpful. It helps if you speak Chinese here, although they usually have a server who can speak English pretty well also. Notes: -Visit between 2:30-5:30 for special happy hour deals. -They share a parking lot with Round Table Pizza. -Open late for midnight snacking.

I'd only recommend coming here if you know what you're getting into. I took my girlfriend on a date here, and she got angry at me because of it's appearance. However, the food is really great if you know what you're doing. When it comes to authentic Chinese, you really want to make sure that you're going to a place that doesn't look too upscale. Also, they're open late. The best dishes I recommend are: the fish with corn sauce on rice (I know), the chicken wings, congee, and the spaghetti with chicken or steak. Also, the pork chop is pretty solid. I would describe this place as a Cantonese-style fairly-authentic CHEAP eatery.

Why isnt there a ZERO Star option? Everyone knows you don't go to an authentic Asian restaurants and expect great service. Can we expect good service? Let me try once more...Mediocre service? Nope. All you get here is bad service. Thank you for ignoring us until my Chinese friend arrived 20 minutes after us, then asking him in Chinese if he was ready to order for us. Note: 2 Viet's, a Hmong & a Flip walk into Yummy Juice...we get no respect until the 2 Chinese friends sit down. Thank you for again, when you dumped 6 empty glasses in front of me and the pitcher of water. Ok...I'll pour it out for my 6 companions. Reverified by slamming 5 napkins, 4 forks and 5 spoons for my 6 companions, then glaring at me for asking for more utensils. Ok, I'll pass them out. Glared and shot down when asked to add Chow Mein or Vegetables to my Chicken & Rice plate. Put all 6 coffee/milk tea/tea in front of me to serve everyone once more. What what is this? That's right I must work here too. All plates put in front of me to hand out to the right person. Uh, you forgot my friend's order for 40 minutes. Pointed at us & said "You wait OK!" When I went to ask for a to-go box, turned around, pointed at me & harshly said "You wait OK? I'm busy." and then you turned around to finish texting someone...probably complaining about troublesome customers that came into the restaurant. How dare us come eat here! Yummy Juice my @$$...you get no tip!

I came here for a quick dinner with my family before going to see Disney on Ice with my sister. My parents like to frequent this place, but I honestly wasn't that impressed. Just average Chinese fare. We ordered chicken curry, chicken pineapple fried rice, tomato beef crispy noodle and the beef pepper fried udon to share, with egg puffs to go. The curry, fried rice and crispy noodle were all average at best. The chicken curry could have SERIOUSLY come in a bigger portion, it only had about 3 small pieces of chicken. Really..? Chinese are stereotypically cheap, but 3 pieces of chicken..? The beef pepper udon was the most unique..I guess. Ever since my mom had this dish, she's been inspired to make it at home. It's fried udon smothered in a soy sauce and black pepper, basically. 'Twas aaaaiite if you like black pepper. For the price, I can't complain too much. Affordable, but just filling. Service is lackluster, but restaurant is pretty clean. Overall, I wasn't too impressed. I would probably just come back for the egg puffs and maybe late night snacks since hey're open pretty late.

Previously under Yummy Guide [Some people still call this place Yummy Guide], it is still the same restaraunt. Well, almost. The prices are a little more for the deals they have; other than that, ive also noticed some other subtle differences. They seem to have a slight increase in quality in food.. Well, this place is always busy after the club scene around 130AM. For the cost of everything, its a great place to save some people amongst 3-4 friends since the food is family style. Its uniqueness in sacramento is what brings people here. Spaghetti entrees and enstranged mixtures food into a asian base dish which holds interest to some people. Recommend to try. Pros: Times, Selection, Combos Cons: Food is not consistent Stars: 3.75

What's not yummy about this place... sigh This is usually our go to place for grub at night when we want food coma inflicting chinese food for great prices. It's a little far from Elk Grove so we do like coming here after a night in downtown or something. I like to order the Combo Meal for $19.99 (used to be $16.99 but whatever) includes your choice of 3 entrees from the little menu and soup of the day w/rice. Not too bad right? And it's not little wimpy portions either. You get a lot of effin food. FAVORTIES: - Salt and Pepper Sparerib - Mongolian Beef - Chicken Chow Mein (not on the menu but they'll be happy to make it) We usually say we'll come back in the daytime to take advantage of all their specials (you'll see them plasters on posters and all over their walls) but you have so many options in the daytime rather than coming here

I did try the egg puffs like the many Yelpers were raving about, I wasn't so impressed. I expected some airy pastry but ours came a little doughy inside. The ice coffee wasn't so great either. Tasted water down and didn't have the kick that ice coffees usually have. What I did enjoy was the salt and peppered tofu!! It was DELICIOUS. I have never had anything like this and I enjoyed every perfectly seasoned square of tofu (tofu alone deserves 5 stars). The fried Sui Mai I didn't care for, maybe I should have ordered it steamed. It was hard on the outside making it a tad tough to bite into. We also ordered a plate of the dry noodles which was different in a good way with a nice balance of curry flavor. I will be coming back for the tofu alone.

Hey Naysayers: you know what you can do? Suck it. This place is good and I'm not going to stand for your uppity disposition. I just ate there for the second time, and I came away from it like a Zombie finding a quadriplegic in a forest without his wheelchair: full and satisfied. When I went there the first time I went through my checklist for ignorant people that claim that THEIR local Chinese food is the best: 1) TV with Chinese soap opera: check! 2) Old Chinese man cooking food: check, check 3) Chinese people eating Chinese food cooked by Chinese man while watching Chinese soap opera on a TV made in China: check, check check, just F' ing check that shi....wait, hold on. That TV is actually made in Japan. Toshiba or something. Whatever. Just go there and get some pork fried rice and the udon pepper chicken (because I'm 'Merican and that's what I know and that's what I ordered dammit. Now shut up and EAT IT!!!). By the way, you know what's really awesome? While you're waiting for your food, Round Table has pitchers of Rolling Rock for $4.34. Let me repeat that: Round. Table. HAS. PITCHERS. OF. ROLLING. ROCK. for $4.34!!! I feel like I died and went to 1973, which is the last time they had that kind of deal.

I'm not sure if the late night food is just better than the day time food but I used to come to Yummy Juice/Guide all the time during the late night hours and it was pretty good... not 5 star worthy, but still pretty darn good. However, I recently took a friend there because he had never been. We went around an awkward late lunch time and it was pretty much empty in there. Our food was not good.... our mixed veggies had a slimy clear film over it, the creamed corn cod seemed under cooked and the rice tasted old?? Just thought I'd give you yelpers a heads up.

Not changing stars in this update, just changing notes. I have grown to really like this place as a late night dining option. It's cheap and open late, like everyone had said... but I also love the "chicken and vegetables with crispy noodles". That dish is really good. It's 4-star good. And for $6.95 (especially at 1am), it's 5 star good. Take out from Yummy Juice is really fast if you call in the order. Most of the things I have tried here are between ok and pretty good. The salt and pepper squid and salt and pepper pork are very good, as are most of the crispy noodle dishes. Stick to those dishes ansd you'll really like this place. As to the service, I think they are quick to dislike people and treat them accordingly. I respect that. If they don't like you and treated you poorly, however, certainly don't go back. I have always found the service very friendly and efficient, but I've seen them be rude to people.

The owners spoke Cantonese. The are a lot of specials during happy hours, too much if you ask me. They split the happy hours, so from 1:30-5:30pm they have such as such, and at 2:30 to 5:30pm they have such as such. It was confusing, I ordered a baked meat sauce over rice and it came with milk tea, it was $6.99 (Special happy hours). My friends ordered a macroni with ham and egg, beef stew with rice (he didn't like it), cream corn over rice (it was okay), plus we shared a mango egg puff ($5.95). It had pieces of small mango (not that good, but maybe because I was really full!) They also had pineapple, coconut, and banana. For four people, the total was $35 for lunch (everyone got a meal and drink). I would come here again, but at 2:30-5:30pm when their specials are $3.99! Also, I'm definitely going to get the Lemon Ribera!! and Horlick.

I went back the next day for more pig ears (I just can't get enough!), we also ordered the banana egg puff (YUM!), chicken wings, and salted fish with diced chicken fried rice. The chicken wings were delicious even though we had it to-go and didn't start eating it until an hour later - it was able to retain it's heat and crispiness. as for the salted fish with diced chicken fried rice.. I'm usually not a fan of this dish, but my friend really wanted it. After she started eating it, the aroma was so strong. I just had to take a bite! But one bite was not enough to satisfy me. I ended up eating a good half of the order as well.

Came here with a big group (15 of us) early Sat morning after the bars. We were suppose to go to another place but they were closed and Yummy Juice was the only place open late, which was a plus! We got seated immediately. Ordered family style and surprisingly, the food was okay! Not too salty either! The only thing that made me squirm was that free soup they served, which looked like sink water, but hey, it was complimentary! Our bill came and each one only had to shell like $9! That's really cheap!

Ok, so this place has grown one me. I'm also hopelessly addicted to their milk tea! A lot of my friends really like this place so I've been dragged a long a couple times and have now found a number of items I actually enjoy. I come for the lunch special as it is a good deal, free milk tea and a pretty good plate that fills you up for $7 even. I hear that most of the good stuff is meat like the baked pork chop or the salted chicken wings everyone is obsessed with. The salted fried tofu here is so freakin' good! A dish I normally hate, theirs has totally converted me. The egg puffs are super cute and yummy when warm. After, so-so but good to much on if you're trying to sober up. Oh the best thing is they open hella late so I can get my wasted friends some food so they can function again while I sip on yummy milk tea. The milk tea is probably the best and most legit. in Sac, meaning we have really weak milk tea choices as everywhere else is probably powder mixed. Cons (There's quite a few) Service: Horrible 80% of the time! You shouldn't even tip, you seat yourself, wait forever to get them to take your order sometimes just going up and telling them, and they give the biggest attitude! The only time I had good service was the older gentleman behind the counter waving goodbye, saying thank you and once getting milk tea to go from a sweet lady with short hair asking if I needed condensed milk to sweeten my drink. I still leave at least a dollar the others don't deserve!! Food: Pretty low quality which is why I'm not the biggest fan. Without lunch special dishes are at least $7 and of low quality ingredients that taste ok-pretty good. It's also unhealthy for the most part. For the same price you can get amazing food at New Hong Kong Wok or similar cuisine at Cafe Macau. The other times it wasn't lunch special, I didn't pay. Inconsistency: My milk tea seems to change price each time. Sometimes it's the price on the menu, others it's almost a dollar higher. That's too much to be just tax! Also, I don't get why ice brings the price up so much, isn't the water to make it free? Doesn't it cost more in electricity to keep it warm? And that volume of the ice decreases the capacity for milk tea so you get less! I love it cold though, so I must angrily conform if I'm dining in. With all the bad I still recommend this place, especially if you eat meat. The atmosphere is relaxing, the crowd is usually casual and young, the milk tea and hours are great, and some of the food is pretty darn good. I do wish I lived closer for those nights of cramming that greatly need milk tea!

I usually come here late night. The food may not be all that great, but the fact is, they open LATE to satisfy my late night cravings of greasy food after shaking my money maker at some nearby club. The ladies that works here are SUPER NICE. Their English is limited, but they always make sure they get what it is that you want. Don't be expecting gourmet chinese food after hours. You should know better. And if you're expecting that, then you're better off making spam and eggs with rice at home. Their dessert menu is pretty good. I usually order the lychee drink with ice cream on top. And steamed papaya with fungus.. sounds yummy, no? As for entrees, the spicy pig ears and salt and pepper chicken wings are good to start off. And the beef withe scrambled eggs over rice is good too. Tho their food is ok, the staff is super nice and always make my visits here comfortable. :D

Two pages for the same place?! Well, here's my review that I posted for the other page. Came here with one of my sorority sisters one day after helping her run some errands for her family. The place has a good amount of seating and is so-so on the cleanliness. The food and drinks we had were really really good, but the service was OK. I would definitely come back for the food or drinks, but maybe take it to-go? If only the place was more well kept and the service stepped up -- A LOT, then I would've given this place more stars. Till then 1 star for the food and 1 for the drinks/dessert. I plan on visiting this place again, if it has stepped up since my last visit, I'll update my review. ;P

    * 3.5 Stars * Came here for a snack and chit chat.. I tried their pineapple egg puffs and mango pudding. Their egg puffs are very crunchy and delicious. I think almost each little piece had a little pineapple inside which was pretty cool. Their mango pudding wasn't sweet sweet which is nice. I didn't try their other food but it does look tasty and smells good. They also offer 3 choices of entrees for $19.99 from 5:30-midnight. From the wall, I saw their lunch menu for $5.99. Guess I'll have to come back and give it a try. =)

This place is the typical low-end and greasy Chinese restaurant that everyone goes to because it's the only place that stays open late. I like greasy food so I'd give it 4 starts but since their service is pretty crappy, I have to knock off a star. They sometimes take a while to take your order and I guess you have to get your own water after you have finished your first one. The banana egg puffs are warm, fluffy, and delicious unless the cook accidentally burns it...It has happened before. The salt and pepper chicken wings are breaded well so it's very hot and crispy when it comes out. It will also hold up well if you decide to take it home and save it for later. I also tried almond tea, and it was definitely not tea but more of a light custard...but it was still amazing. I would come back if I was drunk and starving.

Check your food before you eat it!!! I had ordered spam with eggs over rice to go and found a piece of hair embedded in the cooked egg. Underneath one of the spam meat hid another strand of hair. Not sure if this place went through new management, but I will never ever go to that place ever again after this unsanitary incident.

I think yummy juice is mostly known for their being open late for people with late night cravings or for those coming out from the clubs, which is pretty nice. I would choose this place over iHOP or dennys anyday. Plus, food does taste better late at night though right? Haha The area is pretty ghetto, but that's where all the authentic foods are at anyways right? Outside, the parking is small and compacted; if you drive a big truck or SUV, you should just double park or something when its busy. Haha I absolutely love the fried chicken bake with some kind of gravy over rice. It's mighty bomb! The chicken wings, pork pourage with 1000 year old eggs, sweet sour pork and the egg puff bread like thing is pretty good to snack on. I haven't tried any of the drinks so I don't have an opinion on that. Gotta remember that this is a Asian place, so service is pretty bad as usual. Probably like 7 out 10 Asian places will have bad service. But gotta admit, some of the food is pretty good though. So gotta kind take a sacrifice a bit. All in all, if its a late night craving, I'm coming to yummy juice to get some yummy in my tummy. (:

I come to this place like once every year or two. They have like a "happy hour" 2:30 pm-5:30pm I believe. You get an entree w/ a drink for $3.99. I haven't tried from their "happy hour" menu though haha. They have lunch specials 11:00am-2:30pm. You get an entree with a drink too, but it's $6.03. Today, I got spaghetti and iced milk tea. I was pretty pleased with the spaghetti. The milk tea doesn't come sweet, so you have to add the sugar. Service was alright. The orders doesn't come out fast enough.

Rude service. The worst Chinese restaurant in Sacramento. Won't go there again !!! Today I went to there ordered a happy hour deal 3.99 with a cup of milk tea and one dish. I asked the waitress to add the "Zhen zhu" which are small back ball in it. Not mention that how long I waited. The waitress only served me a half cup of milk tea. Is it suppose to be one cup ? Time and quality is not the worst. When I pay for it, the waitress told me the bill is 7.99! What ? how can add small back ball cost 2.99? I asked her, she said: because you ordered the different milk tea, so $3.99+$2.99+tax=7.99. What a rip-off ! the black ball cost $2.99, at the usual Chinese tea shop it only cost 50 cents to add the little black ball. I was so mad and took the tips on the table I had placed and left, and I will never go there again.

While visiting my mom for Mother's Day, a friend wanted to meet up before I headed back to the bay. This was one of the few places open past 10PM (most days they're open till 2AM!). If you're driving by at night, the entrance is kind of hard to see with all the surrounding trees (so don't go quickly down the road unless you've been there before!). Although the building is decent-sized, there's actually not very much seating inside. I guess the kitchen takes up most of the space? There is a small front patio if you wanted to eat outside as well though. Kind of a dive-y feel with the sticky tables and worn chairs. They also play TVB on the mounted TV on one side of the restaurant if you actually don't want to socialize. Our order: Coffee Milk Tea Milk Tea Eggpuff What I thought was so weird, my coffee milk tea came out with a dispenser of condensed milk! Maybe chalk it up to laziness? Either way, I found it amusing. The egg puff was a lot more dense than I'm used to (almost cupcake-like) but still slightly crispy on the outside. Since my friend doesn't like sugary desserts (and actually never had an eggpuff before), he enjoyed it. Service is basically non-existent. Don't expect for the employees to stop by to see if you need anything or to clear your table away. To pay, I'm not sure if you were supposed to go up to the cashier, but it took forever to get an employee's attention. So we opted to just walked up to them to pay and leave. There's some dishes I'd like to try to see how good they make it (i.e. pig intestine,, salted fish & chicken fried rice, salt & pepper wings). It also looks like a good place for desserts as a lot of people had something sweet at their table. Would probably come back for another late night thing if I'm ever back in the area.

Don't expect too much of this place. It's not bad, but not great either. If you're looking for some late night Asian food then go for it. It does the job, IMO. I've been to a few similar cafes like this such as Shooting Star Cafe in Oakland and JJ Cafe in the 626, and Yummy is for sure not up to par when it comes to the quality of the food. Came here on a Thursday night at 1:30am (they close at 2am) with 3 homies who were 'zooted' and the ladies out front were kind and patient with us. I ordered the black pepper beef pan fried udon. Besides having more cabbage than udon noodles, it was pretty good. Each of the guys had the spaghetti/rice plates with the choice of meat: beef/chicken/pork/seafood, with either a tomato cream sauce, black pepper sauce or white cream sauce. Their munchies took over so obviously they enjoyed it. We also ordered appetizers: salt and pepper wings and calamri, fried/skewered fish balls, egg rolls, and fried shu-mai. I enjoyed the wings and calamari the most. Overall, decent food made to order. Being sober, I still enjoyed the food. However, I wouldn't crave the food here and wouldn't choose to come unless it's late night and options are limited.

This review is for drinks only! We came here after eating at Oscars which is almost next door, for some Asian desert drinks. While the café has a lot of good sounding Chinese food on the menu at low prices we didn't try any of the food. We did however order their milk tea drinks with pearls which were way to strong and the pearls were rock hard. Even after asking the server to make the drinks sweeter they were still inedible and we ended up tossing them. I also ordered a lychee ice which is the same as a freeze. The flavor was okay but really not blended well with big chunks of ice in the cup. I would NOT recommend ordering DRINKS here.

This isn't a fancy Chinese restaurant but it's not bad. It's open till like 2am on weekends so if you're getting the munchies after a few drinks, it's the perfect place to go. Food comes out pretty quick and service is okay. I usually like the black bean sauce beef or chicken chow fun and the pandan egg puffs. The food is fairly cheap and they have lunch specials as well. However, I didn't think the salt and pepper tofu was anything special but it was even more expensive than the chow fun! Weird. The fried tofu was too hard and there wasn't enough of the garnishes to go with the tofu. It was kind of bland. I don't come here often so I have yet to try a lot of their other food. It's a large menu! Brace yourself.

Open late for an Asian joint. My friends often crave the fries here which I find super bland.. I do love their complimentary soup though. Our server was either super tired or just out of it. Our orders were repeated a couple times before she finally heard it right (she mistaken fried rice for "fries" LOL). Even though we were here at 2am, the place was packed with people coming in and out. The beef chow fun here is delish, a little greasy but.. good nonetheless. The menu selection is quite large, but I'm normally only here late at night which reduces my cravings down a lot.. So far I've only had some of their noodle dish and soups.

Unfortunately, it pains me to fall out of love from a particular establishment that has won my heart due to its unique but authentic approach to its business. However, this place had gone downhill and apparently the honeymoon is over and the facade now exposed. While I will continue to say that the food is really good for the price, the level of service, or lack thereof, is simply abysmal. The rudest thing a waitress/waiter can do is ignore the customer's request and I've been shown this rudeness to the bone. I requested hot tea and the waitress went to the counter, ate and finished her meal 20 minutes later and then came around to my hot tea after my meal was served. Unacceptable. I won't be coming back here again, cause baby these boots are made for walkin' and that's just what they do, one of these days this boots are gonna walk all over you...OK, I'm not walking all over anybody but these boots are walkin' outta here.

I go to this place often just because it opens until the wheee hours! Okay maybe not that late, but you really can't find any other place in Sac open past 12 .. I believe the hours are 11pm-2am most days! So this is a good place to go to for people who want to eat and hang out a little bit longer ... The place isn't really fancy. It's a bit tacky with their color choices but nonetheless, I always enjoy their egg puffs here! Drinks are a little bit overpriced, but food is definitely enjoyable! Come here for late night snacking/hang out with friends & order their yummy egg puffs. Don't forget the sweet condensed milk stuff! ;)

Needed a late night hang out place. Heard about this but never been. GOOD: Lots of eats whether for snacking or a full meal. BAD: The service was slow. We waited 30 minutes before they took out order. And it wasn't busy because parties that were seated later were waited on before us. The menu could include pictures so it makes the food more appealing. FAV: Red bean Ice Cream was surprisingly good. Egg puff was ok. Smells really good though.

First of all, let me just say that this place gets a star off because of it's location! Random Chinese (HK) restaurant plop in the middle of random shops! The area is a bit questionable, too and I always thought that the phrase "location, location, location" had an importance.. This place used to be called "Yummy Guide", but I'm assuming that this place changed owners and names. Anyways, the food makes up for the questionable location. However, if you cannot read Chinese, you only have the selections on the menu. On the walls, they have other specials written in Chinese, such as "tea sets". My dad ordered chicken porridge, "cheung fun", peanut butter french toast, two fried pork chop buns, and a banana egg puff. For drinks, we ordered a HK milk tea and a sesame milk tea, which tasted really interesting! And as for the milk tea, it tasted like traditional milk tea. The pork chop bun was excellent, and I've heard that it's a Macau specialty. Also, the peanut butter french toast was quite tasty and better than a lot of other restaurants which also served this. As for the chicken porridge, it came out steaming hot and did not disappoint. We saw the chef come out to do something and we noticed that he was very old and he definitely looked experienced. All this food added up to $23, $27 plus tip, so this place is definitely affordable! I would go here again, but the location is not an easy commute for me. In my opinion, they need to have one of these places in Milpitas or San Jose. **** I just noticed that I rated this place 4 stars and it brought the restaurant rating up from a strict 3 stars to a 3.5 star restaurant. Yay me :D *cricket chirps*

I was starving at 12:50 AM, and I was really limited to where I can go at this time since Jack-in-the-box was outta question (read my other review), so I decided to go check out this place. Kung Pao Beef over Rice with extra peanuts. It was not the best, but it was not the worst either. It sure beats the teriyaki chicken bowl at Jack in the crack, you know? They do really open until 2 AM on weekdays and 3 AM on weekends!!!

Pearl Milk Tea- I think they put real pearls in there! Last time I remember drinking pearl milk tea it was soft and chewy!! What do they put in there!! More tea than milk not sweet enough. I do not recommend getting it here. Original egg puffs (asian waffles) - I never recall ordering the chocolate flavor egg puff, ours look so dark we swear it was the chocolate flavor, oh no its just a little burnt up no biggie. I also do not recommend ordering egg puff here. mango w/mango jelly - Did we order a 3 uncook mixed egg yolk?? where is the mango? i see jelly but why does our mango taste like sour peaches?? very very sour indeed. Baked Spaghetti w/meat sauce - It smells good but it don't taste as good as it smells. I see the sauce but where is the meat?? Is that overnight spaghetti they are serving me?? Asian style French toast - Could the bread be any more smaller?? For the price you are charging. I could buy myself a whole loft of bread and made it myself for the whole month. Pretty standard Chinese food with decent prices- feels like the cafes I eat at SF Chinatown! Tables are sticky as are the menus. Service is terrible. Typical. However, everything we ordered was pretty good and on par with Chinatown food! I was super full after with leftovers so the portions were perfect. Because of the name, I thought I would take a look at the drinks menu but noticed everything a bit overpriced. Nothing really stood out either- very easy drinks you can make at home and not many variations on the desserts. I still ordered a milk tea with pearls and was pleasantly surprised- soft chewy pearls with red tea shining through. Nothing artificial about it. Overall a good dinner. Not perfect, but can't expect too much. I would come back :)

Say you're out and about and you realize all the fun you're having has caused you to completely lose track of time. You also remember that you are in Sacramento, and finding late night dining is a crap's shoot. Some spots try to test the uncharted waters of opening late night, sadly most don't survive the swim. Yummy Juice Cafe, is a player in the game of late night options, and my friend, it sits at the final table. This spot is open until 2am,( if not later) on the weekends. Diners are given a well put together menu of Chinese cuisine that screams affordability and flavor. If you're a rookie in the game, the place can be a bit intimidating with its menu items randomly advertised on all walls and spoken foreign languages filling in the air. Play it safe and try out the wonton soup to warm up, if you're looking for your typical chow mein or fried rice you can get it here. If you're coming here for dinner and are not crunched for time, you should definitely check out their hot pot menu. Your food the way you want it, at your pace. Safe is cool, but I encourage you to study the menu and try some of its more interesting items such as the egg puffs or pan fried udon. Carry cash for quick exits and remember to tip well. This first visit is surely not your last, and who knows, your next visit might score you an extra won ton or two for your generous gratuity. Eat Up!

i was a regular at this place when i was still going to school in Davis. After I graduated, went back for their food b/c i missed the workers and their food. To my surprise, this place went DOWN HILL! not only was service slow and rude, the food took an entire 40 mins to come out. not going back for another year or so.. lets hope management changes. I want the other server lady back!

Cheap hong kong food. Don't expect the quickest service, but on the bright side if you have an hour to eat and 20 bucks, you will get tons of food and it will for the most part will not disappoint you.

Late night Chinese food, you cannot go wrong. Although, they put so much MSG in there, you are left feeling completely bloated and uncomfortable for the ride home. I didn't get any refill in water, with proper restaurant courtesy. But like I've said in previous reviews, I don't expect very much from Asian people.

The older you get the more experience you are...I guess this phrase applies to cooking too. I'm a fan of this place for their EGG PUFFS...Haven't found a place in Sacramento just yet that serve Egg Puffs or even good ones. Every time I stop by this place, is for their delicious EGG PUFFS. NOT JUST ANY EGG PUFFS...It has to be made by the owner. He is an older gentleman behind the cash register. He always cook them right and to the perfect temperature. Those puffs will be super fluffy and every bit is like in heaven. One time, he wasn't there and someone else has to make it. It wasn't the same, the egg puffs were not golden brown but burnt. =( I would give them 5 stars for the egg puffs but had to minus two for everything else.

Some good late night munchies! Good place to come after clubbing... I mean, what place would open till 2-3 am that serves Chinese food? YUMMY JUICE DOES! I always get the fried udon, egg tart, chicken wings, and beef chow fun. Very oily but it's some comforting food once in a while. The milk tea is pretty good here too!

  • Joanne L.

Good eats! My favorites: 1) salt and pepper chicken wings... so tasty! 2) coconut milk with purple rice and tapioca 3) congee.. it's not for everyone, but it's my comfort food This is NOT a restaurant... it's an eatery! So don't expect all your entrees to show up in the order that you usually get them. Dessert may show up before the dinner plate. That is normal! :) Customer service may not be 5 stars... but it's open late and food is super reasonably priced here... so I don't want to read any more reviews complaining about the slow service. =P

Beef chow fun, salt & pepper tofu are good, but don't order both at the same time (too much food). Noodles looked good. Nothing fancy, no "best of" flavors, just your basic Hong Kong cafe stuck across from Dad's in Sacramento. If it's midnight, this could be your best choice for cheap decent eats.

This is a great spot for your late night cravings or even outting. The chinese food here reminds me of home cooked meals, thats why i dont mind comming here. It's not the best food but it is decent. things that you should definitely try here are the salt and pepper chicken wings(appetizer), egg puff(Desert), Lemon ice tea. Those are the best items to me, other than those items, other entrees are normal. Of course when you are a little tipsy and come here, the food will definitely hit the spot! It's a great place for people who wants to go somewhere late at night becaues they close at 3. Service: 3 Food:3 Overall: 3.5

They are open late which is a huge plus! But they get super busy at night and the service is horrible. But if you can get past all of that the food is pretty good and it's pretty well priced. My friends and I love getting the egg puff!

  • Bobby l.

For the price and the freshly cooked food you get, I can't complain! Sure the service might be bad, but you do realize you're in a Chinese joint right? We aren't known have good (or any) customer service. The food comes out hot and steamy! It's not a burger that's been reheated, or taco meat that's been there for day(s). For about $5+, you have a wide variety of dishes to choose from, such as salt and pepper chicken wings, beef and broccoli, to egg puffs (HK style of dessert waffles). If you're in a group, you don't need 1 dish per person, usually 3 dishes is enough for 5 ppl or so (depending how hungry/drunk/big/small/power eater/food inhaler/black hole status you are). So you have fresh and value, what's next? this place opens late! I mean well after the clubs close, you still have a place to grab some grub. It's right there near McClatchy HS, so it's a doable drive from downtown. They also have lunch specials for about $6? (I don't remember). Overall, you've got quick just cooked Chinese food for a decent value that closes very late. Yay! I'm a fan of this place for after the club, and maybe even lunch!

This is ran by a really old couple and their family. So its a hole in the wall kind of place. Although the decor isn't that fantastic, the food makes up for it! My friend got the entree's and I ordered dessert! I absolutely love desserts!! So if you got dessert then I'm going to order it! hehe.... well i ordered the black rice with cocoanut milk. It was a cold night and this lil dessert was served hot! Perfect!! It warmed me up nicely and tasted oh-so-YUMMY!! :) We also ordered their coconut egg puffs. Those were ok. could have used a little more cocoanut oh and we had to get up to go get our own condense milk. But not a big deal I guess... Overall... I would come back for a late night meal or dessert, but wouldn't say that this is a date place. Oh and it starts to get packed on the thurs-sat atround 1:30. That's when all the drunkies are hungry! hehehe...

I came in here expecting crappy service and crappy food. I was proven wrong It was crappy-mediocre service with decently tasting and portioned food. I ordered the spaghetti with pork chops in soup which wasn't too bad. The pork chops however had batter outside of the meat, and that + soup = soggy ending. The meat tasted fine though and the noodles with the soup were pleasant Oddly enough the waitress brought my friend REGULAR egg puffs when she wanted BANANA egg puffs. We didn't know what the server was saying and after a minute, We realized she was trying to hand us off regular puffs because they apparently didn't "have" bananas to make the egg puffs. The waitress did ask if my friend wanted it and she accepted it, but we later heard in Cantonese the whole "no banana" ordeal. When there's a table of 6 and you know they're all eating something, it'd be nice to bring either A) a pitcher of water if you have water in the cups given or B) a pot of tea because you have decided to give tea in the cups served. I sat there for a while thinking they would either refill the cups or hand us a pot without us asking. Well I was wrong, so I had to go up to the front and ask for cups of water and a tea pot. Egg puffs are alright here, but I'll tell you what, they're better than the ones Quickly's makes. This HAS flavor, but sometimes I wonder if egg puffs are supposed to be a certain texture. Maybe I haven't had the right egg puff yet. I would say the softness is close to pancakes for these ones, but I've also had crisper ones. So I suppose it's your preference. Another thing, multiple orders of egg puffs will inevitable cause SOMEONE to be the last one to get theirs. They have about 2 machines to make them, so someone is going to be sitting there awkwardly while everyone else is enjoying their meal/snack. I really used to despise this place when it was yummy guide. I guess something changed. I'll be back more if I need a late night fix (guaranteed open later than 12 on all days of week, so definitely come around here if you got nothing better to do) *5 dollar minimum credit card charge as well if you decide to split the bill.

Service was horrible, didn't even ask if I want to get a refill on drink, food was okay and the employee only taken your order after that only to either sit down at the table next to it or just stand around to talk with each other employee.

wont be back to eat again!!! got the "Raw chicken and shrimp fire rice"!!!!!! when we get the fire rice the chicken still "COLD AND RAW"!!! Worst customer serives we even had!!! Especially the old lady waitress when we come in not even say hi or serive the table. just gave us a "You are not wellcome face and look like to tell us get out here fast"!!!! THat is how this restaurant treat the customer!!!

Horrible service. I'm from Hong Kong myself and I've seen the typical Hong Kong cafe services but this was really disappointing. -me and my friends were craving for dessert after dinner so we stopped by this yummy juice cafe. -environment was dingy and dirty but again I'm used to it. What really turned off was the service. We were complained by the waitress lady when we all ordered desserts instead of real food. Well no shit we just HAD dinner. -food wasn't that great either. Plus we had to wait super long for everything. -we were all already enraged by the lady's service and when she ask us to tip on the table it just seem like a ridiculous request. I went up to pay and she even bitched at me for laying with new money and she said it's hard for her to count and separate the new stack. -obviously in the end we tipped them in coins for about a dollar and got yelled at as being cheap. We are usually pretty generous tippers but I hope these guys know why we didn't this time. Not coming back

Came here a few times. Like how they're open pretty late. I love their egg puffs and the different flavors they have but I think they are too overpriced. The salt and pepper wings are not too bad and the beef chow fun was good as well. The won ton and shiu-kao soup was okay, not too much flavor though but I like the bok choy that was in the soup. Also had the pork chop with rice and it was disappointing, the seasoning of the meat was okay but it was just lacking in salt or something!!!

GOOD: 3 dish combo for $19 Curry Chicken-- Yummy! and a bit oily. Plenty of chicken and the potato chunks are fried!!! Always come for their curries. Peking Spareribs-- Just ok. Sweet, but that's it. Can't taste any spices. Too much fat and bones. Very little meat. Skip it. Beef Stew w/ White Carrot-- Boiled soft beef chunks, cabbage, and some white veggie. Very authentic asian dish. Similar to my mom's homemade dish. Fried sesame dumpling: Asian good, served hot. $4 for only 4 small quarter sized dumpling.. :( Extra: Get soup if eat-in. Soup is good, but not great. Sliced pork and carrots with nice broth. BAD: Bowl of rice for all three dishes wasn't a lot compared to the amount we would have got if we ordered individually.

I came here specifically for the fried pig intestines. (Sounds gross, I know.) They didn't have them. Uh, okay. I changed my order to fried shiumai. They didn't have them either! What the heck.

HK style food, but not the best I've ever had.... I ordered an udon dish, and it was really oily and peppery. I didn't even finish 1/4 of it and I didn't want to bring it home. We also ordered eggettes, and it was a DISAPPOINTMENT! It was soggy and not crispy on the outside. This is nothing compared to Eggettes in SF! I would probably only stop here if I'm absolutely starving to death at night (they open late) or want HK style dessert. This is one of the things Sacramento's lacking .... GOOD HK style dessert cafes.......

I come here for the baked pork chop. It does take awhile so I would always call ahead and place an order. It's open late and super cheap! No complaints.

To-Go, To-Go, To-Go....Take the food to go because the environment, especially the service, will ruin the taste. The food here is decent and the only place in Sacramento that opens until 2-3am almost every night. This is how I got suckered into to this place TWICE. I regret both visits. The service is extremely horrible...an easy fix...hire another person. ***BIG HEALTH VIOLATION we witnessed: We found a hair in our chicken wings, first the lady denied it then she took MY fork and took it off. She brought it to the back and yelled to the cook in chinese to just wash off the chicken and serve it back to us. she didn't know my gf was chinese. we denied the chicken and she just laughed about it. ONE star just for the puff things. FINAL VERDICT: gave this place a second chance and it made me feel stupid for coming back.

The Sacramento version of the Hong Kong Style Cafe. It opens late, but the food doesn't taste anything like the ones coming from San Francisco.

If I am not mistaken, they must put crack in their baked pork chops over rice because it has been a week since I first had it and I've literally been craving it every single day. Nothing appeals to me anymore and everything I eat pales in comparison to how satisfying the fried porkchops in the crusty tomato cheese sauce was. It even left me disinterested in the dessert of Egg Puffs and "Football" I ordered the same night- and I usually like sweets so much that I finish it as appetizer. Sidenote: My friend told me about how he always orders the "football" which is a fruit mix with tapioca and jelly so I had to try it. I couldn't find it on their menu so I was skeptical that the fobby asian lady would know what I was talking about. Surprisingly when I asked her for it, she understood me completely! I was stumped by why they would call it something so random as a "Football", especially when they barely knew basic words in english... I thought about it for a long long time and suddenly I reached an epiphany. They called it a "football" because they can't pronounce "fruitbowl"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had been looking for a place like this around Sacramento for a while now: cheap, good Chinese food and more importantly, that's open late which in Sacramento-speak is past 9pm. Came here with the munchies after seeing Tainted Love one night and it really hit the spot. My favorite dish they do is probably the gravy-style noodle with egg and shrimp, although if you're a vegetarian and ask nicely, they can sub out shrimp with tofu and other veggies. Unfortunately, their milk tea is pretty terrible and I'm pretty sure the condensed milk they serve it with has gone bad many moons ago.

  • Christine T.

Walk in and be approached by a fairly warm woman uttering long sentences in Cantonese as she shoves you and your group of friends to a table and seats you all down. Feels just like home. The milk tea here is actual tea. None of that artificial power stuff with some milk here and there, this tea is GOOD. It's an extraordinary taste that many have not yet experienced. No doubt your taste buds will be overwhelmed by the satisfaction of tasting real milk tea. Must get. The menu, the hours, the CASH AND CARD.. could this place be any better? Maybe smaller portions.. maybe nicer waitresses? I don't think so.. There isn't much I would change about this place. This is a windy twisty drive into the dark depths of Sacramento, but you will not be disappointed.

  • Amanda L.

The egg puffs are really good here! Unlike the ones in SF, instead of being hollow in the inside, they have some batter in there so it's more filling.

  • Christopher N.

A recent change in waitresses and possibly back to one of the original owners, I give my return to this place once again! This little Chinese cafe that opens until the late night/early morning has good service and the food may be a little bland, I can't argue with the desserts that make it all worth it. For years I've been going here and when I order egg puffs, I usually order it in Strawberry, coconut, or mango (it's an off menu thing ;). This place is also very convenient because I do attend class nearby which makes it a cheap, quick, and good place to pick up a snack between breaks.

  • Mindy D.

When I was new to the area, this is where my friends took me for a late night meal/snack after a good night of, well, take a guess. They are open extremely late and prices are on the lower end. The food is mostly Cantonese influence. The salt and pepper tofu and fried chicken wings are good. The other Chinese menu items aren't so bad either. The peanut butter waffle... *slobber*. Gooey peanut butter and condensed milk slathered on a warm, toasty waffle... need I say more? Well, actually, a nutella waffle is better, but I'll settle for peanut butter here. On cold nights, they start you off with a nice cup of tea :) Unfortunately, I've only been here laaaate at night and am always surrounded by loud young people, and more often than not, drunkards. I hope no one gives the staff a hard time. It's obviously a family-run business and it is clear that they work hard for their dollar. I wouldn't come here for a real dinner or on a date, but can always do a late night snack here.

The only time I will come here is when I'm trying to sober up and am craving some sugar because I've been sweating like cray cray in the club. They have a lot of different selections of boba, along with juice and smoothies. You should also check out their egg puffs as well, much better than Quickly's! However, if you're not craving any sweets, Yummy Juice Cafe has a wide selection of food as well. They have Hong Kong styled dishes to basic American food like hot wings and French Fries. I personally love their salt and pepper chicken wings and their pan fried noodles. The beef chow fun is also good, but on the down side it is extremely oily at times. I would totally give this place a 5 out of 5 but their bathrooms suck and the crowd can be weird sometimes. On weekdays, you'll catch a lot of high schoolers here playing cards but some nights you'll feel like you don't wanna come here because there's hella Asian gangsters wanna-be. But over all, the quality of this food is great when you're having the munchies in the middle of the night.

Yummy Juice is a hong kong style cafe. It has variety of desserts and snacks along with Chinese dishes but the taste is just ok. The customer service however is lacking.

Best eggpuffs on Sac other than that do NOT go here. Shitty service! Call in to order Eggpuffs but they will not remember to make it until you arrive. Happens to me all the time but the eggpuffs are just too damn good lol.

  • Thuong D.

this place reminds me of the cafes you see in chinese movies.. maybe because they are always showing some on the tv.. cute. I usually get the 3 items for &18.99 deal. they offer a good variety to choose from so you can mix it up each time. I also really like the pepper beef udon and salted fish with chicken fried rice. add in some chile sauce and instant food coma.

  • Alex T.

My family and i always go to this place for their food... Well the food is ok... but for $5.50 to get you full and comes with a drink... it is a deal... but we come here so much i get sick of it sometimes.... but overall its cheap and fast and casual... like i said i am fan and i will always be returning to this restaurant... p.s. the service is bad like what other people have review... sometimes when they are busy they give crappy service but when they are kinda slow its bit better... also sometimes i have a feeling their food is not so clean but i have never had any problems with it yet... knock on wood!!! They open late and they open for breakfast too on the weekends.. also they have happy hour specials going on too during th day around 2:30pm to 5pm i think....

  • Tila T.

This place reminds me of the bay. The menus are handwritten in chinese, and they have lots to offer. the staff is super friendly and offer you hot tea immediately once you walk in. So far we've tried the salt n pepper wings, the honey walnut shrimp, the black pepper chicken fried udon, and the salty fish fried rice. YUMMM-OH! the portions are reasonable for the price. Overall, we always have a good experience when we come here - minus the late night hipsters. bleh.

I love that this place opens late! It's a great place to eat at especially after the clubs. The food comes out fast. You must try the salt and pepper spare ribs. It's delicious :)

Love love love the egg puffs here. Banana flavored egg puffs is my favorite and a must order whenever I'm here. They also got regular and mango flavored egg puffs. Other than the egg puffs that I usually order, me and my friends love to snack on their fried pig intestines :) Thinking about them is already making my mouth water. This place is open late which is a plus. And the prices are affordable :) I mean you're planning to eat out anyways so if you don't got money might as well take your broke ass home ;). Just kidding. Its a nice place to hang out with your friends while you're not eating and they are. :) The thing I do have a problem with is the lady that takes your order and gives you your bill always asks for a tip :/ Theyre very nice and you can see they work hard through all these people who come in late at night (I've seen some rude ass customers too) I would already tip them without them asking But when they ask its like it's called a tip for a reason, it's optional whether to tip or not, and she makes it as if we have to tip. They lost a star for that.

    (4)
  • Nate S.

Nothing much to add...basically utility-grade Chinese for those hard-up for quick cheapish eats. The milk tea is pretty good, but everything else just seems shy on flavor. Also, the overall cleanliness is pretty borderline, even by Chinese restaurant standards. Since Hoa Viet is close by, equally cheap, and better, the Juice gets squeezed out of my local dining rotation.

  • Master J.

Horrible! My first and last time here... Food took forever to come out and appetizers came after the food wth?! After the crappy service, we paid our bill and the waitress had the nerves to say "I know you pay already, but 10% tip!" at this point, we were shocked that someone would even say that! Never going here again!

  • Derick F.

This is actually a great place to eat late at night. You can get your greasy food fix. They have a ginormous selection of food and beverages. If you want a smoothie, pearl drink, or some Asian tea they have it. Open late till like 2am then go here its pretty good, but keep in mind it's not 4-5 star quality but still good. If you go there get the Salt and Pepper chicken wings they're pretty good. On one occasion though I thought they were under cooked. If you like spicy food then try the Singapore chow mien or chow fun it has a nice curry taste.

One of the rare places that is open late in Sacramento and ISN'T fast food. First off, the egg puffs are delicious. I love stopping by just for egg puffs in a brown paper bag and eating them on the way home. They are perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and cakey on the inside. Usually I get the pork baked rice dish. It's soo cheap here! I am always tempted to try something different but the menu is so extensive and overwhelming I usually just stick with what I know. Also, my mom actually likes this place which is unbelievable to me because she's really picky about her Asian restaurants. She says it reminds her a lot of cafes in Hong Kong. I've taken my friend here a few times and he usually picks a dish he ends up hating. The other time I've been here with friends or with family, everyone likes what they order and is happy that it didn't put a dent in their wallets. SCORE!

urr. I'm not sure if it was what I ordered, but I definitely didn't like this place. The service sucked, the place was dirty, but it did have a large selection of food. I've heard people gushing about it, but I would definitely recommend hometown (in Davis) over this place, anytime. The only plus is that they are open late to satisfy late night cravings.

I was an avid fan of Yummy Guide (I went to the one in Oakland and the one in Davis before turned into Oshio), so knowing that this place existed made me pretty happy. We went there today after our internship. ("We" = 18 people all wearing the same shirt, so we kinda looked like an Asian gang of some sort.) To their credit, they managed to seat us all at the same table really quickly. Most of the food we ordered got to us in a short time. I ordered #1, the lunch special with garlic & chicken over rice. There are a ton of different lunch specials and for $5.50, you get a big plate of food along with a drink (milk tea, coffee, lemon honey water...), so I thought it was pretty worth it. The egg puffs were really tempting, but kinda expensive, especially when I know you can get them in Hong Kong for 25 cents. (sigh...) I do hope to try them someday. :] They have coconut, banana, mango, and pineapple. :O I love HK-style cafes, so this was right up my alley. :D

Three guesses on who the only white boy in Yummy Juice was this afternoon? Your first two don't count. Everyone looked at me when I walked in. It was classic. I'm going back just for that. Lol! I like this place. It's better than it looks in the pictures but still a little rough around the edges. The signs are hand made and seating is basic. Yet it's comfortable, authentic and has a charm all its own. The staff was friendly and served me right away. I had a pearl milk tea which was good and had plenty of pearl balls. I didn't try any of the food but it looked real good!

SERVICE SUCKS. However, I am very fond of the egg puffs dipped in condensed milk. Yum! Sometimes the food here can be a hit or miss, depends on what you order. The salt and pepper chicken wings are a MUST. Like most late night spots, it can get busy so be prepared for long waits and sucky service.

    (3)
  • Jalex L.

Love the eggpuff, especially with condensed milk. In my opinion, this place has a bit of weird food, it's probably their Chinese cuisine, but I noticed that they put a lot of starch on well, everything. But that doesn't stop me' from ordering the pepper and salt wings. I like it here, it has an ok atmosphere and sure they like people who speak their language more, but I don't care, as long as I get my food.

EXcellent! My husband took me to this resturant several nights ago. Around 10-11 p.m. The resturant was still open. Their food were really fresh and less salt. The fried chicken wing tasted really good! Also their seafood rice was pretty good too. Anyway, we love this place and definetly will go back again.

French Fried = French Fries (thin and crispy throughout) Fried Udon.. Greasy but good. I like the Hor-Fun better. Egg Puff = waffle crepe

You have to love a place that's open as late as 3:00AM on a Friday or Saturday! I come here for the rice porridge with chicken; it's my comfort food, especially on these cold Sacramento nights.

  • Marybeth S.

This place is cool because its one of the only places in sac/ close to elk grove that is open late. It's nice to get non fast food/ non Dennys past 12 and its a chill place to hang out with your friends at strange hours. When I wasn't vegan yet, I really liked their waffle with ice cream, but it wasn't too special meaning that I could probably make it myself at home lol. My friends who have eaten here enjoy their food but we all know it really isn't the best Chinese food we've eaten. However, I suggest for anyone to come here with a group of friends if they need a place to eat and hang out at at a late time. :]

    (3)
  • S. A. Y.

Yes. Cheap and decent chinese food. I asked them to go easy on the salt and they actually listened! This is very typical HK style cafe type food with all the quick fix desserts you want. I'm definitely coming back, especially when I get my late night cravings for eggettes!

Food is 4 stars but service can be lacking Love how late its open esp since Im glued to Call of Duty and can easily lose track of time Pros: -Food -open late -prices Cons: -service(can be a hit or miss, but mostly miss lol) Tip: if you hate the service, grab a menu and order to go.

  • Jojo C.

My husband and I used to LOVE this place. Great price, decent amount of food and taste great. I decided to write a review for this place after coming here for the last three times the food has been blend and just BLAH. Why two stars? I believed they changed ownership. Ever since then the service sucks, the dishes are inconsistent (ingredients and flavor) but more like they just use cheap stuff and the egg puff master is gone! He makes the best egg puffs but the last 3 times we've been here we didn't see him. I will still come here if there's nothing else open late at night or just want some cheap Chinese food.

    (2)
  • Eugene C.

Yummy Guide strikes that balance between cheap prices and decent food, and the atmosphere feels thoroughly Chinese. I always see lots of Chinese people eating there, even past midnight. Chinese movies or dramas play in a loop on their flatscreen TV, and their dish selection and bright color scheme reflect the hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurants that litter big Asian cities. The menu and service are about what you would expect based on the price (very cheap, $4+ entrees). There is nothing horrendous, but nothing amazing. Their boba drinks are about $2+ and decent. If you're up late, in the area and hankering for a filing meal that is not a hamburger or taco, this is the place to beat.

Food: I don't know if you have been in Singapore, Hong Kong or China but this place has the closest authentic food as in those countries. In general, their food is good -- not great. I usually go on lunch because lunch specials are very cheap ($6). I usually order curry beef stew, salt and pepper chicken wings, au yeung fried rice, and egg puff. Their milk tea is pretty good too (not like powder milk tea at other places). Location: it's pretty hard to find this restaurant unless you're familiar with the area. It's close to a middle/high school and Sac City so it's really crowded around lunch time or at night on weekends. The parking is tiny, but there are a lot of spaces in the back. I'd recommend packing in the back because the slots are really tiny to park in the front. Price: affordable. Bring friends with you so you can share the food. They usually serve you with a lot of food for the price it offers. Service: This I'm not so sure. There's a lady at this restaurant who will treat you based on her mood. If she's happy, whatever you want will be served at its finest. If she's not, she will MAKE you tip by leaving cash on the table. Really annoying at times, and after a while I can cope with that. The owner (an old guy) is very friendly. The other waitresses are pretty nice too.

Yummy's not too yummy-looking on the outside, but their food is pretty good. After all, the shabbier the cafe, the more authentic the food. Favorite dish - sweet and sour pork! Sure, that's the Chinese staple food typically purchased by Americans who know nothing else besides chow mein, fried rice, and sweet and sour; but seriously, it's really yummy! The pork's really tender and sauce is just the right flavor! I'm drooling just from describing it right now. And in case you don't believe me - drive by and peek in the windows - 99% of their customers are asian! enough said: Asian clientele AND located in a shabby-looking building? That screams GOOD ASIAN FOOD.

  • Tadaa T.

Early bird dinner specials has a nice menu, serving cheap but good HK cafe style food. Milk tea is served in a big glass instead of small tea cups like cafes in the Bay. Their milk tea 1 serving equals to 2 of ABC's! They also make variety of hot and cold drinks, including bobba, and even desserts.

I was introduced to this place when I was a freshmen in McClatchy High School (the school nearby), and my parents have always been taking me there until I left for college. The cafe served Hong Kong-styled foods which were suitable for my family because we originate from Hong Kong. However, the first time I went to this place, I enjoyed their $2.99 lunch special, which came with a free drink, it was an awesome deal. I also enjoyed ordering the egg puff, which was a nice, sweet appetizer that my dad would always order just because it was his favorite when he was young. The reason why I gave a 1-star rating is because when I first was introduced this cafe, it was called Yummy Guide, but the name changed because there was a switch of ownership. And I have been very hostile to the new management as the quality degraded considerably, and the price for the lunch special rose to $5.99, which is THREE bucks MORE than before. The drinks, like the milk teas, used to be refillable, but now once you're done with the first glass, it's another full price of that drink that will give you a refill. Comparably, the milk teas they serve isn't that good either. The proportion of the condensed milk they add to the drink far exceeds the amount of tea they have per glass, therefore the drink is too sweet and you can hardly taste the tea flavor in their milk tea.

I wanted noodles and they open LATE every night if your looking for cheap chinese food. We usually order salt & pepper chicken wings, a rice plate and a noodle dish to share. Always end up taking food home. This visit, we ordered the beef chow fun and fried rice... And it was delicious or maybe eating too late and I was hungry. It don't matter. We got FOOD. All the food is cooked to order, the dishes are perfect size for the price and I don't have to cook.

This cafe is the closest place you'll find for similar Hong Kong style restaurant like they have in LA or SF. The food is here is decent and the prices are cheap. But the only thing that sucks about this cafe is the how long it takes for you to get your food. Sometimes the food will be out quick but most of the time it takes a really LONG time. There were couple of times when I called in to place an order for my lunch and they told me my food would be ready in 30 minutes. When I arrive 30 minutes later my order wasn't ready and they made me waited another 20 minutes. I will NEVER order take out again. The 6 times I order over the phone they made me wait an extra 20 minutes. WTF? Lame. Only reason for me to stop by it's when I'm leaving the club and I need food in my system.

I was craving flat rice noodles again. And since Yummy Juice Cafe was within walking distance, I decided this will be my lunch spot of the day. It's your typical Hong Kong-style diner that serves porridge, rice noodles, and rice plates. I'm very glad I came here, because I knew this was the type of joint that could not mess up on a flat rice noodle soup. So that's what I ordered: seaweed and fishball noodle soup, and a cup of milk tea was complimentary! It totally hit the spot. It was good and filling; interesting that they used instant seaweed, and just enough fishballs for a bowl of noodle soup. Loved it. I was the only young person dining at lunch, and found the two middle age guys sitting behind me hilarious, since they were gossiping about Chinese entertainment news. It's this kind of Chinese cultural stuff that I miss these days. Good times. I'll definitely be back, for food and entertainment.

This is my go to spot for a quick late night snack and they rarely disappoint. Today I came in for a strawberry eggpuff, salt and pepper chicken wings, and a fruit and jelly bowl. The eggpuff came out clearly overcooked, but it didn't have a huge effect on flavor so I was content. The chicken wings were way too salty, but this is unsual--I've enjoyed these many times before. Lastly, the fruit bowl was as solid as ever, and now includes whipped cream with sprinkles. I'm not sure if this is an improvement.

We came here for a late afternoon snack. They do have a special menu with that which is nice. I ordered a bowl of shredded meat and special preserved veg rice noodle while my friend ordered fish with spaghetti. We both had the tea/coffee combo drink which was very good! The bill for all of these was just over $10. My friend told me this is the best place to go for some Hong Kong Style snacks if we don't want to go to China Town which is far I was told. Customers around there seems to be regulars. I recommend this little gem if you have cravings of this style of setting while you were in Sacto! One drawback... I couldn't get a shut eye until sometime around 2am..... I blamed the tea!

Once again, they have not failed in giving me a stomachache after eating there. I've been there many times in the past and have never learned my lesson. Every time I go, I always end up with a not so happy ending in the bathroom. I decided to try again last night because it's the only place around there open late. Ordered curry fish balls and porridge. Porridge was fine.. looked and tasted normal with good portions for the price. However, the curry fish balls did not turn out so good. The fish balls were just boiled and had curry ladled over them. Fish balls were of the cheapest kind (i could taste the difference). The curry was chunky and yellow. The whole thing looked like watery poop to me. Very unappetizing. Two stars only because it's open late.

I'm was so happy to FINALLY find a place in Sac that serves real milk tea, not made from a generic powder!! As far as Chinese/Hong Kong-style food in Sacramento goes, I think the food is pretty good and authentic for being so cheap. I always come here for their lunch specials that cost only $5.55 for a regular sized meal plus coffee or milk tea. Before discovering this place, I couldn't recall the last time I paid only $5.55 + tax and tip for lunch and a drink! They're always switching up the menu, so don't be worried about getting bored with the choices. If you happen to come here after 5pm, they also have a dinner special where you could pick 3 items from a specific menu for only $19.99, with soup and rice included. It's meant to be shared family style, and the portion sizes are so big that it usually feeds me plus 2 or 3 friends. Like many others said, they're also open late on clubbing nights, so it's a nice change from fast food. There are so little options for late night meals in Sacramento, that I'm so grateful for the few places that stay open. TIP#1: order the dessert Egg Puffs if you've never tried them, it's not on their regular menu but it's advertised on flyers posted on the counter. They come in a variety of flavors and are always made fresh. TIP#2: don't disregard the postings on the walls, they usually advertise new must-try items or special deals! Most of them are in both English and Chinese.

This is a great hang out spot. Been going here for years now. Sometimes they'll speak Chinese to you if you are Asian. I am just glad that I understand everything they say, Chinese or English. I mostly come here late at night since they are open til 2 or 3 AM. I would mostly get the Mix Grill which comes with a bunch of food for just 12 bucks. You definitely get your moneys worth for that. The egg puffs are delicious. All of my friends love them. The prices here are cheap, the food is great. You cannot complain there. The service isn't the best but it is what it is. Don't expect any at all if you go here. Just go for the food.

Freeport Bakery may have left a sour taste in my mouth, but I was determined not to let it ruin my day. With a 30 min wait left for a table at Dad's Kitchen, I decided to check out Yummy Guide. Wait...you went to eat breakfast while waiting for breakfast? Yes, to answer your question :) Anyway, since it was still early they were only serving from their breakfast menu which I believe is from 9-11. Here is what we ordered all under $4: Combo A - Hams macaroni in soup w/ hos dos and egg Combo C - Steam rice noodles and chicken porridge It was combo A that mind boggled me. What in the world was a hot dos and egg? I figured it couldn't be all that bad since I consider myself a seasoned pro in chicken feet. hot dos = hot dog DOI. Totally over analyzing that one...didn't even factor in the ever-so-lovely Asian grammar. Ahh...just what I needed to wash out that sour taste :)

3 1/2 stars For Sacramento standards this place is pretty decent for a HK cafe. The specials are what keeps the locals coming back. 6 bucks get you an entree and drink. Iced or Hot. Most places I've been to that includes drinks only includes a hot drink, not cold. Nice to not have to pay a surcharge for a cold drink here. Heres what I had that was pretty good: *Egg puffs- Pretty good. Has a nice chewy texture inside the puffs while being crispy on the outside. *Pepper/salt chicken wings *Baked pork chop rice (Not on the specials but worth the price difference). this dish was almost as good as most places in the Bay. What I didnt like was the drinks. Lemon tea was weak. Not enough tea and not enough lemon. Avoid ordering this one. Milk tea was okay but given that this place is in Sacramento, I won't be too judemental. I would order the milk tea over the lemon tea in a heartbeat. If I ever passby Sacramento, i'll pop back in if I'm in the mood for HK cafe food.

Food is cheap, decent service, good for late night meals. What else do you want? 3 dish for $20 isnt cheap enough?

Maybe we just didn't order the right food, but mostly everything we ordered didn't taste very good. We ordered eggpuffs, fried fish balls, spicy pig ears, strawberry juice with coconut and shuimai. Shuimai were really yummy and juicy. Everything else was bleh. Stay away from the list, especially the pig ears.

This place reminds me of the good old days in Hong Kong. I felt like I had been transported back in time and place the moment I walked in the door. It felt a sense of culture and character all around inside this place. All the people seem to be enjoying their food as well as the company surrounding them. On one wall there is a TV playing the common Hong Kong TVB drama series while the people were chatting in Cantonese. It's definitely a scene I can very well relate to. I ordered one of their special Lo Mein and a Baked Pork Chop w/ rice the moment I sat down. All at a very reasonable price of around six (6) dollars. The special even came with a free Chai tea. ...what a deal!!! Service was decent, to say the least. This is common rather. But for me, I really don't care much for the service anymore. "Just give me the darn food that I'd ordered so I can eat," is generally what I would say. Overall, my experience here was worth while. I will definitely be back for other items on the menu.

Watch out! The waitresses (especially the heavy set one) can be quite rude. They are nice to you if you are new or white. But after awhile they take you for granted and talk to you like you are their dog. Sit! Wait! Go back to your seat! (Meaning -Don't bother me! Kiss my butt!) Their food is OK for the price. I hope they do not spit in my food on one of their bad days

Their boba drinks here are okay, what I really like here are their egg puffs and fried peanut butter French toast (delicious fatty goodness.) They also have a menu of savory food but I haven't eaten anything savory from here since this place was called Yummy Guide so I can't say anything about them. The waitresses are friendly and the food comes out pretty fast and the prices are pretty cheap.

I was feeling homesick and craving some HK style cafe food and HK style milk tea, so my bf and I thought we'd give Yummy Juice a try. Service was slow, but friendly. The menus were sticky/dirty, but utensils and plates were clean. We shared the salt and pepper wings, deep fried tasty goodness. 4.5/5. Shrimp wontons were big, hand-wrapped, and tasted fresh, 4/5. The bf had black pepper ribs & rice, the sauce was a little salty and the meat was not tender. 2/5 Preserved egg and pork congee - tasted OK, had way too much pork. 3/5 HK style milk tea tasted authentic, and definitely not the worst I've had in the US, but it doesn't compare with others I've tried in Chinatown SF. 3/5 We may come back for breakfast (I have a thing for ham & macaroni in broth), but it is only served from 10-11AM Saturdays and Sundays according to the sticky breakfast specials menu...

Very middle-of-the-road HK style cafe, but one huge plus is that they're open late. The food is average, but for the prices, especially in Sacramento, it can't be beat. After a night own in downtown and I'm feeling the munchies, I pit stop here before I crash into bed. Notable is their won ton mein - just downright good comfort food.

I love that it's open so late. We came on a Sunday and they were open till 1:30 am. One of the few places that you can hang out until the wee hours in the morning (not including Dennys and IHop.) There were a lot of other groups there too - ranging from older to high-schoolers. Anyways hot tea was served as soon as we sat down. We ordered their special which is three dishes off of a table menu for $18.99. Not bad. We got the tomato chicken, seafood hot pot and mushroom beef. They were all quite good and a perfect "sui yeh" aka late night meal. I particularly liked the seafood plate. We ended up staying till closing and were the last ones to leave. We even got some of the egg waffles to go. Not the best since they're kinda dense and not as light and crunchy as I like. But I think they're one of the only places in Sac that makes them. Totally reminds me of Hong Kong every time I eat them.

Its kinda hole in the wall place but the food is soooo yummy, one of my favorite is the salt and pepper spare ribs and chicken wings.. The best part is they are open till late at night. Egg puff are good too, but I still want to try the Ice cream waffles. Its definitely a great place for late night people or after clubbing.. They always have a hot tea served when you seat on your table. I love this place and I will keep coming back for more .. yum yum

My BF and I were on our way back from the bay area and were looking for a place that was open late. I didn't feel like going to a Denny's or something similar and definitely did not want fast food and I remembered that Yummy Guide is open late. It used to be that people would go there to eat after going clubbing, but I'm not sure if that's still the case. As soon as we were seated, we got two cups of hot tea, which I greatly appreciated as it was late and I was cold. I clasped my hand around the glass and savored each sip of the warm tea and began perusing the menu once I warmed up. Although I had been here a number of times, I couldn't remember what I ordered before aside from the egg puffs and chicken wings. We got the "Chicken Wings with French Fried", the Yang Chow fried rice (probably their house fried rice) and the egg puffs. I wanted french fries too so that's why I got the chicken wings with french fried. But I should have gotten the salt and pepper chicken wings because that's what I had last time and I remembered it being delicious. Order the salt and pepper chicken wings and then get fries on the side. The egg puffs remain my favorite menu item here. Four stars for being open late, good food, and cheap prices. We got three items for under $20. Not too shabby.

I go here quite often! One of my favorites it the honey comb tripe and noodle fun soup. Reminds me of my mom's cooking! Even the waitress there, that recognizes me, remembers that I love that and always knows what I'm going to order! It also comes with a drink! I always get the iced lemon tea. They have good deserts too. The black sticky rice is one of my favorites. The baked pork chop with spaghetti is also a good choice. My boyfriend always gets the sweet corn chicken over rice and my brother likes the beef scrambled eggs over rice. Both of which I've tried, and are mighty tasty.

I think the only time I come here is late nights. All I normally eat here are desserts and appetizers and drinks, but I'll get entrees here and there. I'm not a big fan of the entrees. This is the closest to Hong Kong style I can get around here haha. The older lady that works there is somewhat spooky to me though. I don't know if she does this to every customer, but every time I come she always compliments me. One time she said in Chinese, "Man, you get prettier every time I see you." I'm like thanks......lol. But overall a great late night place, decent prices, and good Chinese food.

BEWARE!!! Great deal, large variety, pretty good portions, opens late!!! it's just great. msg might be a little on the high side. i like their 3 combo choice special comes with soup. beef stew dish and black bean clam dish might be a little skimpy but there are many other choices. we also ordered an egg stir-fried shrimp which was cooked very nicely. I see that they serve hong kong style breakfast with the ABC meals and also happy hour don't look bad; too bad i'll never wake up in time for that. The waitress is very kind and attentive. It is somewhat of a fastfood joint for chinese. PS you can be loud and rude eating here if you like, no one will yell at you for it keke Hit up this spot, it hits the spot!!

This place sucks donkey cock!!! After coming here for years and giving this place our business, I can say that we will never, ever being coming back to crap hole ever again! This establishment has been on the decline for several years now. They changed their prices, staff and order sizes. On this one particular night, we decided to give this shit hole one last try because our previous attempt to eat at this establishment was unsuccessful. We had patiently sat, chatting to each other for about thirty minutes before we finally got up to leave after being unattended for so long. So we roll in. Place was busy, but not ridiculously busy. They're clearly understaffed but that usually is not a problem for service. We were eventually directed to our table. We had just been out drinking and in a cheerful mood, no one was drunk or even close to it so we weren't in any sort of annoying mood. After sitting at the table for ten minutes, we got up to grab our own menus. After another ten minutes of being unattended to, I decided to just take everyone's order and then go to the counter where she finally took the order from me. At that point it was clear that she had no interest in my friends and I. Trying to keep everyone satisfied, I went to grab ice water and tea for our table, when they ran out of water and our party had to SHARE cups. OF TAP WATER. At this point, our waitress has yet to visit our table. She did however visit our table to drop off the plates, napkins and bowls we needed for our food. That was the first our waitress came by our table. She didn't even deliver the food. The COOKS DID! Not to mention, the egg puffs we ordered didn't even come til we were done eating and about to leave. And now! The ICING ON THE CAKE! When it was time to settle up our $54 bill. One friend decided to collect the cash and just put the charge on his Credit Card. Obviously we weren't going to leave her a tip for this HORRENDOUS service. So as our friend returned from the counter to pay, she followed him back to the table. We got up to leave and she yells, "FRIEND NO LEAVE TIP!" She then points at the table, "YOU LEAVE, 10%!" We were like, WHAT THE BLANK!!!!!!!!! We all stood there frozen in shock that she'd have the nerve to DEMAND FOR A TIP! Finally the girls in our party were like, YOU DIDN'T SERVE US!!!! The guys felt bad so we still left $3. But just the fact that she had the nerve to DEMAND for a tip was just mind blowing. WE WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS PIECE OF CRAP EVER AGAIN! We have been loyal to this place for far too long. We hope you shut down or get robbed. Thanks! And have a great day!

Food is cheap, and good. You can get a full meal for under $10. Portion sizes are more than enough for 1 person, but bringing home the leftovers is not a problem for me at least. Service is slow, they can be rude at times. (-1/2 Star) If your Chinese you can get better service. When you do finally get to order the food always comes out piping hot and great. I love the beef stew with veggies there. I always try to order different things off the menu, haven't been disappointed yet. Desserts are good to eat. Cleanliness is not a problem, but could be improved upon (-1/2 Star) They are open late every night. If you are looking for a late night snack, dinner, or quick fix this is definitely a place to try out.

Yummy Guide, good ol' yummiez... What can I say about this place other than it's a staple in the shitty nightlife of Sac? It closes around 2am, and it always has people there. During the daytime all the old folks, and late night it's the gangsters, clubbers, and F.O.Beezies. Summer of 07' and you would catch me and my crew there on the dot around 1-1:30 am. Not because the food is great, but because it's one of the few Chinese places open that late. The food is aite, average at best, and the service, if you're Chinese, is decent. However, in 07' the thing to get was the Dong-Ling Cha, which is basically lemon tea. It was great back then, but now in 09' they done did it. Ever since this summer, I've came back to the once righteous tea, and was greeted with sacrilege. It's now always either too bland, or too sweet. Damn it. The food is nothing to really rave about, although their club sandwich is actually pretty decent compared to before. They added fries, which honestly tastes very good. The Hong Kong cuisine is okay, it's good after Empire or Azukar, and the egg puffs are good. Honestly, I'd go to Happy Valley down Freeport; same menu, but less young ass fools muggin' you late at night.

This place really hits the spot if you are hungry after 11pm and nothing else is open except for fast food! The service here sucks though. Your water will never be refilled, the waitress will never ask you if your food is enjoyable or if you need anything. You basically have to flag 'em down in order to get any service. (hmm...maybe they think that young Chinese people don't tip well, so they don't give top-notch service???) Once you sit down, the waitress will ask if you are ready to order...what?! i just sat down lady!!! Jeeeesus. And of course, once you tell her you need a minute, she won't come around again unless you wave your arms in the air like you're drowning. Anyway, the food here is cheap and good, plus they are open late. In this case, bad service is tolerable if the food makes up for it, i guess.

I'm not impressed. This place gets really busy, even late, late at night (they close at 12am I believe). However, guess how many servers they're running on? ONE. Yup, just one. At least thats what it looks like. The server told us (or are they called waiters at Chinese restaurants) that there are 3 but they were nowhere to be seen. I think it was the boss man helping out actually. They are definitely short on menus, and I understand her pain and didn't try to snatch they menu back from her when she took it away before we were finished. The milk tea is supposed to be super good, and I thought it was better than alright. It was really milky and smooth. The rest of the dishes were nothing special however. They have a patio, which I haven't been out to, but thats a big plus. Nothing tasted bad, so I'll give it its solid 3 stars.

After a few previous visits from when Yummy Juice was formally Yummy Guide, I was skeptical about going back. I'm certainly glad I did go back though to give it another shot! I ordered the tomato beef with crispy noodles which was pretty tasty. Good portion size for $7. A little expensive though for something from a mom-and-pop place like this. I also tried the egg puffs, regular and mango, and they are bomb! Definitely gives me a reason to go back! My friends ordered rice porridge, and apparently it was pretty good since my friend enjoyed it. He is quite the picky eater, too! I have to take away a star for lack of service though. Otherwise, great place to go to if you're out late and want some Chinese food.

There is nothing outstanding about Yummy Guide. But it's somewhere to go late night when you have the munchies. I go to eat, chit chat and take my sweet time. They don't seem to mind. I usually get the egg puff because I don't know anywhere else in Sac that does it. They aren't very consistant with it. It's eitiher burnt or just right. I guess it depends on the person making it and how busy they are. I like the peanut butter french toast and how it cloggs my arteries. When I'm adventurous I try to order something different. I tried this drink called Lemon Ribera (Ling Bun in chinese) basically it was like a shirley temple. Well thank goodness it wasn't some weird herbal medicinal drink. But it did set me back like $4. But other items seem reasonably priced. The menu can be quite comical since they didn't use spell check. You should try the "French Fried." Overall I'd say this place is a hit or miss.

Probably the most authentic hongkong food in the area, but still ain't authentic enough. Good for satisfying those cravings of dishes that many have tried in the motherland across the pacific ocean. Their atmosphere is similar to the tea cafes you find casually around the streets of hong kong. They serve the usual milk tea, stirfried noodles, baked prokchop over rice, egg puffs, etc. You may be slightly disappointed by their food if you have tried legit good hong kong food. In comparison, it is quite a distance for them to recreate the specialties that many customers go to enjoy. But it'll at least take you on a nostalgic ride.

  • Nancy L.

Yummy guide is great for a late night. The food here is very authentic for a Hong Kong cafe. During my vacay to Hong Kong, I tried out the food vendors and they reminded me of Yummy Guide. So every time I dine here I get a bit nostalgic. Although similar to actual Hong-kong-nese food, the quality of the food isn't all that great. I've tried numerous things on the menu and always end up ordering the same 4 items over and over. Nancy's 4 glorified items @ Yummy Guide: -Spicy pig ear (packed with the right amount of spice and cartilage crunch!) -Salt and pepper chicken wings (Cris-pi-ty SKIN!!) -egg puff (not too sweet but enough to satisfy my sweet tooth) -Fresh fruits with mixed jelly (simply refreshing) So if you start to get dizzy staring at the gazillon items on the menu, stick to my top 4 and you'll be sure to come back. =)

I've been coming here since my freshmen year in college and everything about this place had changed so much since then. The quality and service here had declined so much since the beginning. I am pretty sure they must've changed owners or something along the way. The food here just pretty much all sucked now. The servers here are pretty bad sometimes too..even when they're not busy, they still tend to ignore you. My favorite here used to be the black pepper and beef udon...is just horrible. Just flavorless, oily, and the beef is just bad. Their salted fish and chicken fried rice is still good...but everything else is just bleh. Maybe it's just me,but the prices here for their food changes almost consistently as the price of gas. It's like every time I come back here, the prices for some of their food changes. Well at least the price goes down sometimes at the pump but here the price is always on the rise. Totally not worth it. The only thing that I will come back here for is their waffle and iced lemon tea..but the iced lemon tea is getting pricey..I pay less for a drink at anymilk tea store. I probably won't come back here for their food anymore cause there are many other better options.

The food quality is on par for a Hong Kong cafe of this kind. They put Northern style dumplings in the noodle soup instead of the traditional Cantonese style. That is the only thing I found odd. Service didn't seem as bad as the other reviews said.

egg puffs, plain & simple! I've tried strawberry, original, pineapple. YUM! I've also had the chicken wings, with me I love chicken wings so it can't really go wrong, unless its SUPER SALTY.. but not here :) the waffle w/ ice cream is def my favorite though, especially on a hot summer night hanging out with friends, coming here for egg puffs & waffle ice cream! nice late night joint too!

I don't know where to start. The other time when I ate at this location was when it was under Ginza Japanese Restaurant. After that is now Yummy Cafe. Since yesterday, I regret eating there. I ordered the number 12 lunch special that came with a free drink. The number 12 was the black bean spareribs with rice. Eating the spareribs was like flossing your teeth at the same time. The meat was tough, obviously pre-cooked and meat hardened, that stuck between your teeth. I like the meat to fall off the bone when you bit into the meat. I shouldn't have to gnaw at it. There was a piece that even tasted sour and quickly spit it out. They should be ashamed of serving me old and spoiled food to a fellow asian. The rice was probably the only thing that tasted good. Well, maybe the soda too. I ordered Pepsi and tasted Pepsi but the fountain label said Coke. If it was, then the restaurant adjusted the fountain to add more syrup to taste sweeter like Pepsi. Coke almost taste like diet Pepsi. Service was horrible. They only took our order and served it. We had to get our own bill and containers to box our food. It sure didn't help the atmosphere when the customer next to me kept on coughing every two minutes. At least his back was toward me. I highly NOT recommend this restaurant. You're better off eating next door.

This place gets 4 stars for its late hours and good food. I've ordered many of the different variety of food on the menu and don't recall if anything was worth complaining. The food is inexpensive and they make it quick. I really like their Chicken and Dried Fish Fried Rice, Congees, and the Grass Jelly Fruit desserts. Don't like dining here because of its uncomfortable setting so it's usually a take out for me. The customer service is fine, the usual.

HEY. This place is cheap and tasty and open late. What more can you ask for? You're gonna ask for better service? Well are you going to tip them? and how much? You get what you pay for, and most of what you pay for goes toward the quality of their dishes. Everything they cook is mothertruckin tasty here, from the egg puffs to the salty snacks like salt+pepper chicken wings to their entrees like their spare ribs. I agree that the service ain't nothing like what you'd get at a 5 star restaurant, but at Yummy Guide (now Yummy Juice), you are NOT paying for service. You're paying for their food!! And how can you not be happy with their prices. Our economy is going down down down, and their prices match that shizz. Love this place!!!! By the way, I'm a college student. Meaning, I'm a night owl. Meaning, I either stay up late studying, or I stay up late partying. Either way, having a cooked meal from Yummy Guide is far better than a Del Taco burrito or a Wendy's fries. At the hours that I'm visiting dining facilities, let's be honest, beggars can't be choosers! Be nice to their waitresses. They are trying to make a living and can't speak much english. Imagine yourself in their shoes. If they mess up, they'll scurry to fix it. It's not really their fault, 2nd languages are hard to learn. Spanx for your kind understandannggg.

i LOVE their milk tea with pearl stuffs because it is DELICIOUS. Their combo menus are AWESOME because the food is pretty good here sometimes. I like the rice noodles because they are yummy and tasty. i also like the chicken wings w/rice and something else on the side. Even though the service can be slow sometimes, i would totally come back here for lunch and dinner. :D

I can agree with fellow Yelpers that Yummy is "fine, cheap, and it's open late." I find the service to be quick and efficient since it can get real busy. It also does have a Bay Area vibe in some way- i.e. Irving St. For about $5.50, the lunch combo menu is extensive and each dish comes with a choice of coffee or milk tea. Some dishes are definitely Hawaiian style influenced. One dish I really dig is the Portuguese Style Pork Chops over Rice (curry over pork chops). Can't wait to check out more dishes.

I usually come here cause they have better egg puffs than happy valley, but even so, their egg puffs aren't as good as they use to be, or the ones in the bay area. but if you want a place for a quick late night snack yummy juice is the place to go. inexpensive and decent food.

Long intro. I called Carolina's Mexican Food yelp.com/biz/6PRBsTwhAMV… ahead of time to find out the hours of their dining area. A nice woman answered the phone. She tried diligently to answer my question but failed, so she passed the phone over to someone who could speak better English. A nice gentleman then answered. I asked him of the hours of their dining area. He replied, "24 hours." Cool. 12:30AM on a weeknight and I'm starving. I arrived there to find that the dining area is closed but the drive thru open. Jotted down on my task list, I need to learn how to speak Spanish. My goal was to sit inside a restaurant so I could watch strange people pass by as I enjoy my meal. Backup plan... Yummy Guide... OPEN 'TIL 2AM. Yummy Guide is a dessert cafe. Hong Kong style with a huge array of simple main dishes... Asian comfort food with variety. I've been to similar cafe's, Taiwanese style, some of the dishes are similar and the variances get interesting. Interior. The place is uniformly lit with single light bulb energy savers, mounted into overhead glass fixtures. Bright (ouch) yellow/orange tables. Mainly black velveteen/cloth kitchen chairs or lime green plastic. A 40" LCD screen is hanging high above the front door tables for most to view. Atmosphere. 40" LCD screen, coupled to mini speakers placed further away from the screen, at a medium to medium loud volume, always set to a Chinese station. You'll either find a typical music love song video playing or a talk show may be on. The crowd is pretty decent, mainly Asian mix. The chatter will get no louder than the volume of the LCD screen. On weekend nights, every once in awhile, a local high school crowd may walk in and the tables may have to be arranged to seat 10-20 people. Mostly well behaved, I've noticed only 1 or 2 of them acting like total idiots but it's mostly amongst the large group. Service. Sit down restaurant. Please be patient with the girls there. Most of them and even the owners speak very limited English. Many times, communication has been no more than pointing at the items I want on the menu. Otherwise, you can always take your frustrations out on the Round Table or McDonald's next door. Normally, I order the curry beef stew over steamed rice. Comes with coarsely cut onions, green bell peppers, potatoes. Yellow curry, light to medium spicy. I also order the Coffee Milk Tea with ice. Comes in a tall 20 OZ plastic glass. It's sweet and it'll amp you up for the rest of the evening. Basically the food here is simple, basic with nothing really outstanding to write about but with most of the restaurants shutting down at around 9-10, this is the place to be. With over 20 different categories to choose from, I'll someday have the menu mastered. Warning on my curry beef stew and the attachments that come along with it ... I ordered it for a friend of mine once and HE grossed out over the whole thing. I no longer invite him out to dine at anything that's even REMOTELY adventurous. For that curry dish, there's NO care taken on where the cut comes from, nor how it appears. The beef cubes can arrive with attachments to ligaments, linings or joints. From traveling worldwide, I am okay with just about ANY food in ANY form. For other people, there are U.S. natives who totally gross out if their meat is not a clean, basic cubes from proper cuts. Bah! I've been to restaurants where I choose the meal either swimming or hopping around in the front window, to find it cooked, seasoned and served on a plate shortly thereafter. There are other times where the feet/hooves/head are still attached, witnessed in far away lands such as... San Francisco. For those who cannot handle those additional attachments to those meat cubes, again, there's a Round Table and McDonald's next door to Yummy Guide. Scoring. For the food, I'm giving Yummy Guide 2 stars, another 1/2 star because I actually keep coming back, and a enthusiastic 1/2 star for Yummy Guide's "plus" for being around 'til 2AM.

Admittedly, this place is nothing compared to SF bay area (where I'm from, and where I live now) HK food. However, in my 4 years in Davis plus 2 years in Sacramento area, this is as close as it gets to good HK food. Lemon tea, salt pepper chicken wings, beef chow fun and all. For this fact alone, it gets 4 stars. If you are used to SF bay's chinese food, you won't like it here. But if you live in Sac, this is a good choice. I like the boss guy there too, always friendly. It also has a nice TV for watching HK TVB channel, and the decorations look nice. One time, I came with some friends and my friend's car got broken into in the lot. We weren't happy obviously, but the workers at the place were helpful and cooperated with us and a witness to get the offenders' license number and all. My friends in the area told me that Yummy Guide's location normally isn't too ghetto, it was probably the work of some high school kids around. Just be careful and not leave anything valuable in your car while parking there.

Pros: Opens late (I think till 2 AM), so this is a good place to hit after the clubs or whatever. Great dessert. Good hangout spot with friends or family. Many food options. Great lunch and dinner deals. Cons: POOOOOR service Chinese food tastes OKAY Would recommend going as a late night snack. Try their coconut sago in condensed milk, and their egg puffs!

Totally yummy guide. We went because y'all told us to. We picked the 3 fer 16.99 off the menu: black pepper short ribs, Black mushroom and vegetable, and chicken satay. We also got the egg puff. First of all, you get a ridiculous amount of food. The short ribs were piled high with onions and bell peppers. I think this is a meal option that would happily satisfy the standard american palate. It was savory, slightly peppery, and fatty enough without being disgusting. the black mushrooms were the rehydrated plumped up meaty kind, and they were really full of flavor. The "vegetable" was baby bok choi, my favorite. The gravy was standard oyster sauce I do believe. The chicken satay was the surprise. The plate came out loaded. I thought it would be skewered like a Thai restaurant, but it just came out plattered. It was thigh meat, yellow from curry, and served with carrots, peppers and onions. This was by far my favorite flavor but my least favorite texture. The curry grit from the curry paste or powder was too thick. However, the chicken tasted grilled. I wish someone had described the egg puff better. It comes out as a puffy two piece waffly thing on a rack. It tastes like a soft fortune cookie. PF said his mom made a steamed egg cake that had the exact same flavor, and she was from some province near Hong Kong, so my thinking is that the Egg "puff" is a hong kong specialty: anglicized version of the steamed cake his mom would make. But I'm just speculating here since before Yelp, I'd never heard of an Egg Puff. What I do know is that I like them. No one said how to eat them, though. We tore off each little bite. Are you supposed to put fruit or syrup on them? We ate it plain like a between entree dessert, and it was great. I kept thinking how good it would be topped with sugared mangoes or something to dip it in. In any case, we are totally going to go back. PF is craving duck kidneys or some other such snack from his childhood. I'll get the shortribs again for sure! We had no complaints about the service. Seemed pretty standard to me.

Tonight instead of cheesecake or strawberry shortcake from safeway; I went here with my husband and we only go here for one thing. Asian Dessert! The sugar waffle puffs with ice cream are delicious and it hits the spot every time

This place is starting to grow on me...Today was my second time. The first time was O.K. but it took seeing what others were getting to better understand what the place is about. What with all the special boards, table toppers, and an 8 page menu, deciding what to get here can be a daunting task. I'd advise first-timers to go with something off the specials board, or something familiar like Chow Fun. The sizzling steaks with fries look good, but they're basically American (or actually British!) food, and I don't know for a fact, but I'd bet the fries are frozen--not worth the calories. Plus they splatter all over. I got there at 11:00 just as they were starting the lunch menu. I had some sauteed chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, which wasn't on the menu but I had seen the first time I was there, and a lunch special of Spam and corn over rice. The broccoli was perfectly cooked and the oyster sauce was good--not too salty like it is sometimes. The special was good, but maybe a little bland. Grilled slices of spam with some canned corn and a raw egg on top (which gets partially cooked by the hot rice). I fixed it up with a little Shoyu and some chili oil. Chinese/white trash comfort food. The place is a little wierd getting used to...kind of like stepping into a diner in Hong Kong crossed with Miss Pat's Playroom. It's patterned after a Hong Kong style dessert or snack cafe that is supposed to be nostalgic to Chinese boomers and Gen-Xers--hence things like Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches and Ovaltine on the menu. Nostaligia for British colonialism? The TV was playing some insipid Chinese kid's show where they were singing "It's a Small World After All". The song is bad enough without having to listen to it while you're eating! The colors are bright kids colors, but I kind of dig it because they remind me of 50's Herman Miller/George Nelson colors. I should make this clear--this is not gourmet food by any stretch of the imagination--it's kind of like Hawaiian local food--cheap, relatively healthy (I was craving greens and the Broccoli was just what I needed) and predictable. I will probably add this to my regular rotation of Cafe Bernardo/La Favorita/Sushi Cafe for cheap, healthy eats. There is a $16.99 four course dinner that looks good, too (where I copped the side of broccoli) that looks like it could serve 3 or 4 that would be great after club hopping (they are open late). I'm a single guy who actually is a great cook, but unless I want to want to eat the same thing for three days in a row, I don't cook that much and places like Yummy guide are perfect--and keep me out of the drive through.

It's a nice place to go to when craving some HK-style cafe food. I started coming here with my friends when we would still be hungry after dinner and in the Sac area to begin with. But now it's just been a good hangout spot when we're craving Ham and Egg Macaroni Soup or egg puffs, both of which are worth driving to Sac from Davis for (when in serious withdrawal from Bay Area food). Overall the food is pretty good and service isn't the best, but the fact that it is open so late at night is always a plus for students after a late night study session or odd cravings for a midnight snack.

I'm not sure if people have noticed a trend here but most Asian restaurants do not emphasize service. I can honestly say I have NEVER been to an Asian restaurant and experienced good service. I will never expect good service either. I do expect piping hot food that comes out quickly and decently priced and of course a nice slop of oil on the plate is given. Yummy Juice Cafe was everything I expected when I first walked in. It was dated and obviously not a lot of money was invested in the decor. The service staff wore casual clothing. The place felt comfortable enough. I love the smell that was coming out of the kitchen. It reminded me of my late father's cooking. It did bring back a lot of child hood memories of me.and sister going to the restaurant and watching my dad cook. What I love most on the menu was the salt-and-pepper chicken wings. It was so crispy and perfectly seasoned. I also love the crispy noodles topped with fresh bok choy and variety of seafood. My husband got the baked pork chop over rice. He loved it because it tasted different. We don't usually have cheese in Chinese cuisine so it was very unique. We both liked our lemon ice tea and the thing with this drink is you have to mash the lemon slices or you will not have a lemon taste. For dessert, we got the strawberry, coconut, and original flavored egg puffs, and my daughter got the icecream scoop with waffles. I liked the egg puffs but I've had better in the bay area. The fruit taste wasn't as distinct as I would like it to be but the crunch exterior was good. My daughter's waffles were perfect and the vanilla icecream wasn't anything special other than what you find at your grocery store. The service was great. Our waitress was very quick to get us everything we needed, refill, extra fork, napkins etc. I actually can't wait to come back to try the rest of the menu.

I love that this place closes at 2AM. When I'm craving pan fried udon, salt and pepper wings, or egg puffs, I always go here! (and I drive from Elk Grove). Great food for late night!

This place is hella dirty. I hate sitting table next to the wall because the wall is full of sauce/food matters splattered on it. This is like appetitite suppressant. Use to go there alot until I found a better place in natomas. I specifically requested the waitress to make sure my beef chow fun (dry style) to go easy on the oil. Damn it was drenched in oil. Does she not understand chinese? Or maybe this incompetent cook doesn't know how to wok it properly without oil. For sure will not go back there.

This is a great place for a late night snack. The menu is more along the line of a Hong Kong style cafe and not authentic Chinese food. If your familiar with Hong Kong Cafe's you'll find your standard pork chop over spaghetti and horlicks drinks here (Hong Kong comfort food). The best thing about this place is that it is open late and that prices are great. Don't be intimidated by the Chinese writing on the walls and stuff, they got an English version menu and the staffs English isnt half bad. I went for the Mixed Grill: meat, eggs and gravy over rice special....tons of food and inexpensive, but really heavy. Its nothing gourmet by any standard, but is the Chinese equivalent of an Amercian truck stop cafe. I rolled out of there at 1am and went to sleep.

This place is good if you order the right thing. And its good for late nights. Avoid the stupid hot dogs and spaghetti and other similar concoctions unless you like that crap. Honestly the only thing I like is the baked pork chop over rice and its consistent every time.

Lunch options galore on the white board. even more options if you can read chinese. service usually fast. it's a different style of "chinese food". like others have mentioned, it's more like hk cafe style. it's changed ownership and i guess the lunch crowded has wavered back and forth and is now back. Still, decent food at decent prices. worth a try if you're in the area.

baked rice w/ chicken and cream sauce - gooood salt and pepper chicken wings - gooooooooooooood curry chicken - goooood 21$ flat one time we found newspaper in our salt and pepper chicken wings. DEEP FRIED NEWSPAPER! we told her and she took it back and came out with "new ones" (yeah, right). customer service is nonexistent but at least the foods good.

Ahh, Yummy Guide...this place is pretty decent for an HK/SF transplant like myself :) esp since now that the Davis one is gone. It's the place I always think of going to with certain friends. They have a 3 entrees + rice and soup for $18, and that feeds 4 people pretty well (they have awesome garlic bok choi). The fried tofu and the pan-fried noodles are pretty good. Been here in big groups, and they're always pretty accommodating too.

I've been driving past Yummy Guide on my way to work every day for the past several weeks. We finally tried it a few nights ago. In the parking lot, you'll probably see a couple of rice rockets, and one of them will probably be double-parked or parked up against the curb near the entrance. (Don't want anyone denting the whale tail.) Inside, you'll see the daily specials listed in Chinese/English on large whiteboards. The decor is nauseatingly bright and colorful, like the furniture was bought on clearance at Ikea, which it probably was. The bathroom, unfortunately, is typical Chinese restaurant - disgusting. The waitstaff are mostly Cantonese speaking with limited English and some Manadarin. The menu includes noodle dishes, rice dishes, porridge, dumplings and for dessert, fresh-baked egg puffs. I had the Preserved Egg and Pork porridge, which was actually pretty decent. It won't beat the same dish at Porridge King in Daly City, but it's not bad. They also have typical Hong Kong style bubble tea drinks, but unlike Tapioca Express, where the drinks are often shaved ice with artificial flavoring, you actually get fresh fruit in a blender. I got a watermelon juice (kind of pricey at $3.99) but I actually saw them take a watermelon slice and blend it up. The egg puffs are awesome. They're basically waffle batter in a different form, and they have a couple of flavored versions (mango, raspberry) but the original is the best in my opinion. They're baked fresh, and smell wonderful. You can get several dishes and drinks for under $20, more than enough to feed two people. Plus, they're open really late, unlike most places around here.

Clashing pastel plastic furniture galore!!! It was like SF Chinatown in there-a bunch of handwritten signs and menu "specials" posted up on the walls. BFF got noodle soup or somethin...and I got the chicken baked spaghetti, and we both shared the fried tofu appetizer. The fried tofu cost the same as our dishes, but it was DELICIOUS! The baked spaghetti was good, probably nothing Asian about it, but I still enjoyed it. The chicken tasted like KFC though :/ The soup was okaaaay. The prices were ehh. A little pricey for what we actually get.

Late night Chinese food craving will be satisfied here especially after the night of clubbing. $18.99 for 3 item entree that include rice and the soup of the day. On top of that the bake short ribs with black pepper sauce is super good. Got to try the egg puff, Ice Lemon Tea, and the Red Bean Ice.

My friend Jasmine brought me here around midnight last Saturday! She was excited to find a place like this in Sacramento because it reminds her of eateries in Hong Kong that she has been to. The storefront is easy to miss, although once you are inside it is blaringly white and bright. The menu items are written up all over the walls and the room is sparsly decorated; just tables, chairs, and a counter with register. We took a seat and were instantly brought hot tea and menus. The menu was probably about 15-20 pages written in Chinese and English, without descriptions. Jasmine ordered a few things for us in Chinese, including the egg puff, which tasted like a warm, soft fortune cookie! Everyone ordered something for the table to share. The food came out quickly and steaming. I liked the less formal setting- how you can order anything at the moment and add things as you go along. Perfect for casual late night and group eating. Our server came up with a notepad and pen all ready to go. I sensed she wasn't interested in chitchat or answering any questions "whitey" had about the food. Everyone worked there was very polite and thanked us on our way out. My favorite things: -The menu has a great mix of familiar and adventerous fare which makes it easy to try something new yet not go home hungry. -Mostly everyone eating here is Asian, which Jasmine says is a a very good sign. -As a group you should order lots of small plates and share. After a night of drinking I always want to order a million things and take one bit of each...it's finally possible, muah!!

WOrst experiance ever!.. came here after my tennis class on saturday.. it was around 10ish.. there was no cook!.. they only had porridge, and ham egg cheese sandwich.. and some other crap that was simple to make at home!.. they said the cook comes in around 11.. so we got up and left.

Cool place to hang out and very inexpensive chinese food. If you like noodle soup or just not sure what you want, this is the place to go. Most items are fairly inexpensive and so you can pretty much try different items on the menu without going broke. My favorite is beef noodle soup with dumplings.

The $16.99 deal for 3 dishes, rice, and soup is now $18.99. I think that's still a pretty good deal. They don't skimp on the entrees either. I usually stick to the salt and pepper spareribs (salty and a little spicy, fried goodness), onion beef (heaping pile of melt in your mouth beef with green onions), and a different choise for the 3rd entree everytime. The Mao Po Tofu reminded me of dishes made at home. The curry chicken was okay...green bell peppers and onion slices were still crispy and juicy and the dark meat chicken was plentiful, all in a Chinese curry sauce. Meal usually ends up being pretty good and enough for 2 hungry eaters and lunch for one the next day. The food comes out quick and piping hot. The iced lemon tea is yummy here, too. Try the egg puff...a dessert kind of like a waffle. I can't find it anywhere else in town. It's not overly sweet, crunchy around the edges, warmn and doughy in the middle. Good with ice cream as well :) I recommend this place if you are looking for quick and good food that won't bite the wallet. On the weekends for lunch, place can get pretty busy as large groups like to gather here. Food friendly for kids...fries, sandwiches, hotdogs...plus Chinese food for the adults. The deal for $18.99 is only offered in the evening. There are specials during the day...lunch specials, drink specials, and tea-time snack specials. Oh...had the tea-time snack special when the wonton noodles only cost about $2-$3...but it tasted like instant noodles with 3 tiny, fresh shrimp wontons. The wontons were good, the noodles were a let down as I was NOT expecting instant.

yum yum guide's okay for a quick and easy lunch... their lunch specials is probably the best deal out there for a quick lunch with a drink. but be aware that their iced milk tea is so sweet that even if you pour another cup of water into it it'd still taste sweet. so that shows you how much condensed milk they have in it. most of their food's around average. given that they swap cooks so often that you can't tell who's who everytime you go there. the one and only dish that i enjoyed is the salt-n-pepper chicken wing. oh they're so good that i don't think anywhere else besides d-and-a in clement of san francisco can touch it.

eh, it's not really that great. but 3 stars instead of 2 because maybe I got the wrong things. ordered fried chicken wings and fried tofu. not bad, but not that great either. I would eat it again, but I wouldn't want to pay for them again. Got the egg puff too, but it was plain so it was alright too. if I ever go back, I'm going for the dishes like fried rice and pasta and whatnot. Their late hours are nice though. Cool place to hang out for a long time. very casual.

Service is very slow even when the place is mostly empty. Prices are good and low. Seems to be am authentic Hong Kong style American food place. Food tastes fine. They have a big menu and also sell smoothies, etc. Lunch special comes with free iced lemon tea. Its Hong Kong style iced tea, very delicious and refreshing. I'd come back again.

This place is nothing compared to the HK joints in Oakland, but cool for Sac. This place is alright for a late and cheap snack. Their food is ok, but like everyone else says, their desserts are good. Can't go wrong with the eggpuff. They have a lot of other good things also. However, as others have said, be weary of this place. There are STORIES, and I have many.

What's up with the sugar free syrup? Well skip it cuz you don't need nothin on that egg puff, unless it's some mango ice cream. Ya, the food is a tad mediocre and the bone soup is plain disgusting but the late night sweet treats are fun and different.

My boyfriend and I went to Yummy Guide around 1:00 am and it was nearly completely full. They have a pretty large menu and everything is very, very cheap. We ordered 2 appetizers, 2 dishes, and 2 desserts for under $30. The egg puffs are delicious! We were more than satisfied with everything we ordered. The salt & pepper chicken wings were a favorite.

Feeling like an Iron Chef? ...but slightly short of cash? I would recommend this late night spot that offers lychee ice cream, egg puffs, and even tortoise jelly. It's like Hello Kitty meets food stadium. I'm assuming this is somewhat typical foodfare, and is common because I don't have research to back me up. But this seems "standard". Besides snacks, there is an extensive menu that casually offers steak, chow fun, and noodle soups for those least inclined to adventure. However, this is a one of a kind place in Sacramento and I would go back again.

the pros to yummy guide - great place for a late night snack - staff is surprisingly friendly and nice (at times) - the place is clean and tidy - happy hour prices are always a plus - it reminds me of the "fast food cafes" in hong kong - variety of drinks, appetizers, desserts, and main meals - egg puffs and lemon ice tea are my favorite here the cons to yummy guide -your bill can add up quick! it is fairly expensive to eat here. 2 people can easily rack up $20+ for a "midnight snack". - the food comes out really slow or inconsistent. when you show up with a small group of people, the food never arrives at the same time. this leaves half your party watching the other half eat their food. there have been times when i have waited to get my food, and the people i came with already finished theirs.

i only review this place because its there when i need some food to soak up the 15 or so alcoholic beverages i've consumed by 2am. its also on the way home. sure, the food tastes like bicycle grease and the water tastes like day-old dishwater, but culinary satisfaction isn't really one's main goal after a hazy night of partying now is it? just point at something on the menu, make sure it has no msg, and then wash it all down with a nice hot Ovaltine.

first i came in to work for overtime on saturday, then my friend and i experienced a non-stop road trip of restaurants being too busy or closed for halloween. one of our last stops was dad's on freeport and it was closed due to a private party. we finally gave up on driving anywhere else and went to yummy juice across the street. i was expecting more juice. or, at least a juice drink that could suffice as a meal. no luck. what i did find was GREASY peanut butter french toast. it sounded good, but looked scary and tasted about as bad. my friend's sandwich looked alright, but the meat inside appeared to be dipped in a jar of oil. it had a thick coat of grease that seemed very unnatural, especially since the meat was not cooked on a grill or even warm for that matter. the interior of the restaurant seemed somewhat dingy and outdated. like a break room in some seventies state building. one star for the pass sign in the window and the fact that the french toast didn't upset my stomach. oh, and our meals came with free tea. i won't be back.

This place has great egg puffs! But the decor and the environment is something else... cheap lime green ikea chairs??? However, they are open late and when I am actually in Sacramento this is a wonderful choice since I am not here often anymore. Their food is ok... not something to write home about, but definitely cheap!

now, this is not one of your hoity-toity kind of five star restaurants by any means, but it is the perfect place to go for a quick lunck or dinner that is amazing and cheap. there's even a "snacks" menu that costs $2.25 per item! there are a few extremely nonstandard items available, such as duck liver seasoned with fivespice. and then there is the plate that has chicken wings, a beef steak, an egg and a hot dog, all over rice. but there's also some less adventurous chinese restaurant standards, like tomato beef chow mein or chicken fried rice. they have iced milk tea (a must!). and this place is straight outta hong kong. hip spot for h.s./ college students (right across the street from mcclatchy high, a few blocks up from sac city college). crappy parking lot, but it's located about a hundred feet from a light rail stop so who cares? the waitress we had was soooo sweet! and there were cute little vending machines with chinese cartoon character toys. plus, chinese mtv was playing. lunch special comes with free beverage, and they serve hot tea FREE. in cute little green plastic cups! brilliant yellow tables and royal blue chairs. awesome atmosphere. again, like being in hong kong. and after we ordered, we had our food in 4.5 minutes. i can't say enough good things about this place. everyone must, must, must check it out once. you have to see it to believe it. just wish there were a few more vegetarian choices. oh, and you must try the egg puff. it's like a glammed up waffle dessert thing. you must go there!!!

Never eaten here but refuse to when I see what they do in their kitchen. Let's just day it's far from legal or up to code. Plus, they smoke in the kitchen, wash all veggies on the pavement with a hose, have fresh meat sitting outside all day and the people cooking love to pick at pesticides outside and then immediately go back in to cook. No washing. Be careful people

I've been to Yummy's countless times..most of the time, it's when my friends and I are drunk after bar hopping or clubbing. You'll see a lot of that here if you come around 1 or 2am. People throwing up on the side of the building, people sleeping at the table and rowdy drunk folks talking loudly from table to table (because you'll most likely see other friends dining here, too). The reason Yummy's is a great spot to hit up late night is because they have a 3 for $20 deal that's pretty effin' awesome. It's a separate list with about 30 or so items to choose from. It comes with steamed rice AND soup. I haven't been clubbing much anymore so the last few times I dined here was with my boyfriend, satisfying our fatty late night cravings. The last time we went, we were able to order the 3 for $20 to go, which I think is really nice. Of course, it won't include the soup but the soup isn't really much to write home about. He ordered their pork intestine, I ordered their salt and pepper spare ribs and we both decided on gingered chicken. We also brought home house special lo mein for his roomie and all shared. We had asked for chow mein but I guess they don't have the thick noodles to make chow mein so the noodle dish wasn't that great. The salt and pepper spare ribs were my faveeee. Gingered chicken was also pretty good; the chicken was moist and the ginger sauce was delicious. Other dishes I remember trying and liked are their peking spare ribs, shrimp with scrambled egg and I believe they have a fried fish entree. When I'm drunk, I never remember specific entrees but I do remember always leaving satisfied. Their fresh waffles are pretty bomb, too! So for food alone, 3.5 stars...I rounded up because their prices are beyond decent!!

Yummy Cafe definitely lives up to its name. They have a huge (seriously huge, and kinda random) selection on their menus. At first I thought this was going to be one of those places that isn't that great at anything because they try to do everything, but after having their wings, egg puffs, curries, portuguese, and rice dishes, I haven't been let down yet. So although the food is not stellar, it is all pretty good and the variety is enough to satisfy whatever you might be in the mood for. Also, the late night hours are really convenient for us night owls!

Egg puffs! Need I say more? You must try them. Perfect for late night cravings especially since they're open pretty late

MmmmmmMSG! I'm only assuming because 1. They didn't advertise that they didn't use it. 2. I get headaches after eating food with MSG. 3. I had a head ache after dinner. But whatevs, we were hungry. The food was fried to an oily goodness that I didn't mind as I shoveled food in my mouth. We ordered the Shrimp Fired Rice, Squid Calamari, and Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings. Not too sure what the other reviews were about, but the food was tasty! Good amount of flavor, serving size, and general service. I personally thought it was authentic considering that Chinese TV was on and the restaurant was full of Asian people talking in their native tongue. They looked like they were enjoying their food as much as we were. Glad we randomly stopped by :) If I'm ever in the area again, I'd definitely order something here.

The food in here are pretty disgusting and the milk tea and lemon tea are only acceptable. I only go here because the food in here are cheap and I am lazy to make it at home. If you are Cantonese from Hong Kong who carefully look at the dishes they make, it's not Hong Kong style at all and some stuff aren't even edible. The curry they use is just disgusting... I could only eat stuff I know I could make it at home. The noodle displayed several posts below is Singaporean style noodle, not Shanghai style noodle. Sacramento food critics are disappointing... Three stars? Just wow...

I don't know why I come here because every time I order a dish here, it comes out not as expected (different ingredients). I've had plenty of experience eating at Chinese restaurants and Hong Kong style cafes in SF so I know what I'm ordering and what to expect, yet every time I'm surprised by Yummy Juice. I guess the taste is still good so I'm forgiving. The 3 for $20 deal is a nice deal. The desserts here are definitely not comparable to Chinese dessert places in SF. The ingredients are lacking and poorly put together. The Egg Puffs are a big disappointment; not crispy, too much filling, not really a puff, more like balls. Grapefruit and Mango Sago was ok but the sago is clumpy and there isnt much grapefruit. The Black Sticky Rice with Coconut Milk is a watery mess with barely any black rice. Overall I would come here for food but not dessert. It's open late so sometimes there are no better options.

I was sent here to try the Egg Pufffs. It was like 10:30pm and they only had 3 tables filled out of like 15 but for some reason our to-go egg puffs took 45 minutes! Once we got home and tried them we were so bummed that our 45 minute wait was completely a waste of time. We had luke warm waffle ish tasting balls with hardly any of the chocolate or strawberry flavoring or filling ... . maybe our friend hyped up the egg puffs to be more than what they were, or maybe i was thrown off by how long it took to get them, or all the random people walking in and out of the kitchen area, and ladies coughing all over the counter area while making shakes, or maybe it was everything. All I know is I won;t be coming back.

The only place where you can get some amazing chinese food late at night in Sac. We have gone twice now and it has not dissapointed us in the least bit. Definitely a great selection of real food as well as lots of desserts!

It almost feels like home, here! The food is pretty YUMMY. The egg puffs with condensed milk is absolute bliss. The chow fun and fried rice makes the taste buds come alive. Other than those two items, I have not really explored the other dishes. Happy dining!

You come here for the food, not for the service. Not trying to say the service here is downright terrible, but it's meant to be quick and impersonal. They don't ever follow up with you after they give you your food, so if you need something you need to flag someone down. After they bring you the bill, you have to go up to the front register in order to pay. There is a $5 minimum to use a debit/credit card. The food here is relatively cheap and pretty good. My go-to dish is the number 1 lunch special, fried chicken steak with spaghetti and tomato sauce. The egg puffs here are nice too, on occasion they get a little overcooked. The tables are clean but I try to avoid sitting near a wall. I usually see some kind of grime on the walls and it's pretty gross to look at it. This place is definitely a hang out spot for Asian kids, adults, and families alike. The waiters would probably prefer to speak Cantonese, but they have good enough English skills where communication shouldn't too big of an issue. This is a place I fall back on when I don't have time for a sit down restaurant and when I don't want fast food.

If you order milk tea (one of my favs)... TRY TO GET THE DUDE TO MAKE IT! The older lady who tells you to "tip on the table!" is sooo FREAKING CHEAP! Not only does she tell customers to tip on the table aaand she watered down my milk tea with extra freaking ice and less tea, I miss the man who made my tea when that happened :'(

Yummy Guide, you are lucky I enjoy egg puffs, iced coffee, and cheap Asian eats enough to occasionally endure the presence of your stank eye pre-puberty Asian-soap-drama-look-alike customers and broken-English-speaking employees.

My friend and I stopped by here late last night because he just got out of work and craving some sort of Chinese since sushi was out of the question and he didn't want Lai Wah. I remembered reading all the reviews about this place, so we looked it up and drove by twice, missing the location. Who would have known this little site existed next to Round Table! We peeked in through the windows, noting that it was filled with Chinese people. That was a good sign about the food, so with trepidation, we walked in and were seated promptly. Looking over the menu, the categories marked "sandwiches - peanut butter and jelly" and "milkshakes/juices" did not seem too promising until the waitress brought out the full menu. Ah, real food. They have a pretty large menu, ranging from noodle dishes (Hor-Fun) and fried noodle dishes, Porridge (reminds me of the watery gruel Okayu in Japan), rice dishes, and a great menu to try the typical fare seen in most Chinese restaurants. This is a great deal. For $16.99, it affords you the choice of three entrees off of a menu consisting of 30 items, rice, and soup. Since my friend is not that adventurous (phooey!) we went with the Peking Spareribs, Sweet and Sour Pork, and Chicken in black bean sauce. The soup was gross, but only because it was beef broth, which I personally can't stand. But my friend liked it, and he finished off mine as well. The dishes were overall pretty sweet and pretty salty. Although, the chicken with black bean sauce was pretty tasty. I had to alternate between the juicy morsels of sweet and sour ribs and bites of the chicken with green peppers. As a dessert, I ordered the Mango Jelly with mango juice and coconut juice, which I found absolutely heavenly. Was more like a thick mango slush with a topping of mango and rainbow jelly, and drizzled with sweet coconut cream. $4.49 and comes out in a pretty large bowl and spoon. We left feeling full and with several takeout boxes. Although my tongue started to feel a little puffy (I suspect too much salt or msg) I'd come here again to try their Hor-Fun or noodle soups!

The only thing I liked was the ice milk tea. I ordered the Portuguese pork which was really weird. It was mostly pork bone slathered in a tasteless yellow goo with no veggies. It came with steamed rice for $8.95 (including the milk tea). The hubby had shrimp wonton mee. Wonton mee is supposed to made with yellow noodles, but this one had wide flat rice noodles like the kind you find in chow fun. The hubby ate it anyway, thinking that Yummy Guide just makes their dish that way. When he went to pay, the cashier told him they put the wrong noodle in the soup. Thanks for telling us at the end of the meal. If we ever come back here, it'll be for tea and snacks only.

The good: The food is excellent. The prices are fair. I love that they are open late. I recommend the seafood fried udon and the salt & pepper tofu. For desserts, the mango egg puffs is delicious or share a waffle with ice cream. The owner and the chefs are friendly. The bad: the waitresses are rude and seem to favour Chinese customers. I've been here a lot and I've witnessed this first hand time and again. It does ruin what could have been a great dining experience. And no, I never tip bad service. Tip: order your food for take away. You'll enjoy the food much better and appreciate the exquisite flavours without the acidic presence of the rude waitresses.

Had a craving for wonton soup and this was the only place open at 1 a.m. Soup was edible, not what we expected but alright. Ordered some other random things off the menu and nothing was memorable. I don't think I'll come running back to this place.

Question: what is the opposity of yummy? Answer: this restaurant. I was so hungry I was feral, and in need of clean clothes too, so after shoving all my dog-drool-encrusted trousers into the crappy washing machines at Freeport Laundry, GT and I trekked half a block down to give Yummy Guide the old college try. I ordered fried udon with salt and pepper beef, and GT ordered Hor Fun (based solely on the name, of course) with thick noodles and pork. It all tasted like grease. The beef was very, very fatty. The MSG gave GT an allergic reaction, and the meal in general made my tummy sad in a "should I, or should I not go make myself throw up now" kind of way. I'm not sure what's so horribly awry with Chinese food in general, but I've had good Chinese food and it tastes nothing like Yummy Guide.

Love it that there is an Asian restaurant open super late on those ohhh soooo memorable nights. Sometimes you just don't want a burger or taco but just some Asian delights. It is by far no fancy chinese restaurant but just a quick and cheap place to fill that void that no fast food joint could do at that hour of the night. I usually get the pork chop spaghetti with white cream sauce and the portions are just right for the price.

I used to visit this cafe quite frequently after some games of volleyball or to satisfy for late night cravings since it closes pretty late. I've tried most of the dishes here, but the only ones that really stands out is the pan fried udon with black peppered beef & the salted fish fried rice, but the taste isn't very consistent either. If you have a group of 3 + then your best choice would be the combo meal they offer which includes rice, soup, and 3 other courses. Beware, some dishes have extra charges such as the deep fried flounder (which isn't as fresh as before) My other top choices for the combo meal consist of the seafood clay pot which is pretty flavorful and offers a variety of seafood along with tofu. The mongolian beef here is VERY tender & stays pretty consistent every time I come here. And the salt and pepper spare ribs is crispy with an adequate amount of seasoning. For drinks, I usually stick with honey lemon tea and if I am really tired... the hk style milk tea ( it can get pretty strong at times & a little too bitter for my taste) For desserts, you can't go wrong with egg puffs!

$5.98 lunch including drink. Food is average compare to other chinese restaurants in the area. However, i do believe that they have the best milk tea in the sacramento area.

You have to drink the hot tea cause this place is always FREEZING. I order this same exact meal everytime i come. I need some suggestions to try something else. egg puffs strawberry drink fried crispy wings terrayaki chicken seafood combo noodles tomato beef over crispy noodles. love love love!

I enjoyed my lychee ice drink, with lychee fruit at the bottom and tasted E's mango milk shake. We shared a salt and pepper fried tofu appetizer, that had green onions and garlic as a topping. I could have used a tasty sauce for the tofu, but was too shy to ask. We decided mid snack to try their coconut milk egg puff and E said, I could eat this everyday, uh oh. It is a bit grimy and very authentic, for the faint of heart. The lunch specials are amazingly cheap and come with a drink and rice or noodles. I have also had the milk tea and it was very good. I hear this is considered Hong Kong style if that is important to anyone. The service was perfect, even with a slight language barrier.

this place has not changed since I've last reviewed! this place! this place is a bastion of consistency. The fact that this place continues to churn out decent chinese food with its crazy hours and horde of drunks that come late night! my favorite now is the number 50 preserved pickle (i know oxymoron) with pork with either rice noodles or crispy noodles!

This was my first venture to Yummy based on my daughter's recommendation. There are new owners now so prices have gone up. I went in around 12:30 pm for takeout and found out that there are new owners now. The restaurant was about 1/2 filled, all with Asians. I knew what I wanted to order but had to go through 2 menus since the waitress was not not sure what I wanted. They have their regular menu and one where you could order all Chinese entrees at 3 for $19.99 or individually priced. Bummer that you had to be there from 5-10 pm to get soup with your order. If you can read Chinese, there is a special menu posted on the wall at very good prices if you would like to eat there from 2 - 5:30 pm. Also a special luncheon menu. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. I did not encounter any of the negativity that other reviewers encountered. She took her time to explain things to me. I ordered 9 items. The portions are typical and the flavor was good. I ordered two items that had to be deep fried ---- salt and pepper pork and salt and pepper shrimp. Despite their cutting vent holes in the containers, the items were soggy by the time we got around to eating. I would have preferred some of the vegetables to be crispy and crunchy but when the items continue to cook while in the styrofoam containers, over cooked vegetables can be expected. Will have to dine in next time. When we left, the restaurant was almost filled with customers, only one who was not Asian.

After a big dinner, we were craving dessert, especially shaved ice asian style or brick toast. Yummy Juice was the place that popped into mind so we caravan'ed over because this place HAD to have these desserts. We sat down and ordered and saw that there was "ICE" on the menu with fruit toppings you could add. SCORE! We ordered a red bean ice to share and I asked for condensed milk as well. Also ordered a waffle with ice cream since brick toast was not on the menu. Our shaved ice came out in a cup! That was unusual to me because shaved ice is usually in a bowl. And the condensed milk wasn't drizzled on top, it tasted as though it was mixed in with the ice. The red beans were also not sweetened ahead of time so they were kinda of bland tasting. Not bad, but not really the dessert we were hoping for. The waffle was tasty though and it smelled wonderful! Unfortunately, I think my shaved ice and brick toast cravings can only be fulfilled in the bay area or so cal, not at Yummy Juice.

So, everyone has chimed on the egg puffs. Yes, they - and the vanilla waffles - are incredible desserts. However, I'm giving them 5 stars for the ENORMOUS and fantastic menu, which fits a true HK style snack shop/restaurant. The $18 deal for 3 or 4 people is terrific, and the service is friendly and welcoming. Check out the snack menu next time you go... it's awesome. Some Recommendations: the salt & pepper chicken wings / tofu / squid; curry fish balls & anything with pork skin; fried quail; spicy pig ear; and organ meats are all good too (kidney with special sauce is awesome, and I'm not a huge organ meat fan); the curries are awesome; the soups and pan fried noodles are great; the garlic bok choi is SUPER garlicky and very fresh & delicious. Servings are all large. It's totally unpretentious, simple inside, good for kids (they have EVERYTHING you can think of - including ham & cheese sandwiches and good fries), and they're open to 11 pm. Cheap beer, too!

Food looks appetizing but its a bit on the bland side. Nothing a little soy sauce and black pepper couldn't fix. I really wanted to give at least 3 stars cause the cooks in the back look like hard workers and they might of had an off day but I had to deduct 1 star due to the extremely rude waitress.

Yummy Juice Cafe--they have a pretty huge variety of different foods, but I usually just stick to the pan fried udons and salt & peppered chicken wings. They're just too good for me to pass up! Their egg puffs are also delicious. My cousins have tried the strawberry flavored ones before, and they said it was really good. Funny thing is, if you don't feel like eating noodles you can get macaroni with soup instead. Every time I order that dish, my friends always look at me like "What? Why would you want your macaroni served in soup?" Lol. But it's actually really good! I also love how this place opens until so late at night! I usually come for dessert and order their milk tea with tapioca or jelly grass with vanilla ice cream on top. It's amazingggg.

Me & the bf came here for a late nite dinner after i got off work at 10pm. It was packed! I usually dont like yummy's food but decided to give it another try. We got the 3 item course for 18.99. I chose the seafood tofu pot, pork and stringbeans, and he chose the ginger scallion chicken. I expected dishes to come out looking similar to my restaurants, but it didnt! Not a bad thing, i liked surprises. The soup was weird tho, I thought we was getting some of that thick eggy with whatever soup. It was cold, had carrots, a pork bone, and something else. Really plain. On the other hand, our entrees came out great! The seafood tofu pot was alright, i wasnt in love with it. I liked the stringbeans with pork tho, very tasty. The bf's dish was actually a half boiled chicken with soy sauce/oil poured over, topped with ginger& scallions. I thought it was gonna be stir fry! Of course, i got egg puffs with my mango jelly in mango juice. I like to stuff my egg puffs center with the mango jelly. At the end, i got the mix fresh fruit thing. It was huge! We were already full, and wanted to cancel but it was too late. I dunno how we managed to finish the whole pile of fruit! And we had lots left-over, very good deal. I can stop being afraid to their food now!!

recently moved to Sacramento and went here with a couple friends. I wasn't expecting the food here to be good or having good selections. We ordered from their 18.99 for 3 items menu and i also got their cold lemon tea. They have lots of great and tasty selection on their menu. The food was excellent and came out tasting better than i expected. Their cold lemon tea is 2nd on my list of the best tasting ones, it is my favorite drink. Their food was so good that i went back the second time for lunch.Ordered their black pepper chicken over rice and cold lemon tea. The food tasted just as good. Yummy Juice is now my favorite Hong Kong style Cafe/ chinese food/ dessert place in Sacramento. I know i will be going back again and again to try out more of the items on their menu. I have yet to try their desserts but will soon, since they look good. And the good thing is, they close at 2AM I highly recommend this place for lunch, dinner, and desserts.

I really like this place. I can't say the food is super amazing, but it is pretty good for the price. They have a ton of things on their menu and everything is so cheap. The other cool thing is that they stay open pretty late and it definitely beats having to stop by some crappy burger joint in the wee hours of the night when all the decent restos are already closed. I order their strawberry egg puff cake with everything....its uhhh....yummy :) The macaroni/spaghetti soups are decent too. You should definitely check out this place if you are in the area.

Open late!! love it. It was after 10pm when the bf n I wanted to go out for some food. Apparently, there are not alot of places open late even for a saturday nite. We yelped n found yummy guide. The food was decent. We ordered hot milk tea. it was good, but it was served in a glass cup. I understand we get more with the glass cup rather than in a mug, but I would prefer it in a mug though. Lastly the egg puff, it is not very good. I don't know if it is the batter for that night or what, but it doesn't taste right.

After enduring the slow torture that is the SAT Reasoning test, my friends and I were on the prowl for some good eatin'. Thankfully, CKM's location was ideal for our gluttonous intent. There are tempting eateries all along Freeport, but we decided upon this little Hong Kong style cafe. The interior seemed pretty authentic, with that distinct fobby-verging-on-tacky flair. The colorful fisher price-like seating reminded me of childhood. And like many Chinese cafes, they had ovaltine on the menu! I used to live on that stuff. Ovaltine and whipped cream sandwiches...Hmm those were the days. But I digress. What I really came here for was the egglets. We ordered a mango egglet first and devoured it in minutes. It was my first egglet experience, and I liked it. It definitely could have used more mango. Whenever any of us got a chunk of mango in our egglet bite, it was like striking oil. But still, we liked it enough to order not one, but two more egglets (strawberry and sesame). We didn't stop there. Little Asian girls who just took the SATs can put away hella food. $43.78 worth, to be exact. We ordered a bunch of other dishes including beef curry, salt and pepper tofu, pig intestine, lo mein, and a fried udon dish. I had some beef curry and tofu, both of which were passable. But DAYUM, those egglets... I was so full afterward, I skipped dinner and the following day's breakfast.

How this place is open I do not know, there are a lot more late night eats within a two mile radius that are cleaner, have better service oh, and serve food! I tried this place once. The first and last time with my boyfriend. He suggested it remembering it was a Late night spot and thought we could give it a try, a decision he still has not lived down. I glanced at the menu and was not at all impressed. Lots of dessert and food options but nothing that sounded to appetizing. I looked for simple, and ordinary. I settled on chicken stir fry over rice. What was presented to me almost forty minutes later was plate that looked as if someone has cooked the rice for too long and threw gravy with mushy veggies and pieces of chicken fat to hide the texture. I didn't want to touch it but felt bad to waste it since my boyfriend was paying for it. I took a small bite and tasted something my five year old brother could have made better. What seemed drenched in no seasoning other then a teaspoonful of oyster sauce and nothing else I almost threw up on my plate. My boyfriend laughed as I shoved the plate away apologizing and saying NO WAY. Thinking I was overreacting he grabbed a spoonful and chomped away. The expression on his face after the first bite was priceless. He apologized and we left after he finished his meal, which he described as edible. Did I mention the service is terrible and the place is disgustingly dirty. Oh man probably the worst restAurant experience ever.

Great place to hit up late at night after a night of drinking at the clubs! There's plenty of parking in the front and back of the restaurant, the service is hit or miss. The food is definitely not as good when sober, believe me, I've come back when I was. I've had the hot wings, fries, won ton soup, and fried rice. They're all pretty good and decently priced. The fries and wings are great because they're crunchy and a bit salty. Great textures after you've been drinking. The won ton soup is pretty decent as well. And fried rice is fried rice, it's not greasy and heavy. Their restrooms are dirty =( and I always have to double check the silverware, plates, and cups before I eat.

Came here after a wild night of clubbing with the girlfriends and it was actually decent. I was expecting a little more because my friends have been talking about it for ages, but it was still decent. A friend and I shared the house special Chow Fun (you guys know how much I LOVE chow fun) and a won ton soup to cure our alcohol-poisoned tummies. Like I said, it wasn't the BEST chow fun and won ton soup I've ever had, but it was pretty good considering it was almost 2 in the morning. Like others mentioned, the service is pretty slow but it seemed like there was only 2 people working, one cooking and one serving so I guess I can't complain much. The prices aren't so bad either. I'm sure if you come drunk enough late at night, the food will taste even better (:

I was so disappointed with my last visit to Yummy Guide. I used to go there all the time but since they change owners, prices are higher and food portions have gotten smaller. My sister in law ordered fresh fruit with sago dessert and all it was was a few thin slices of papaya with sago. what happened to mixed fruit? So disappointed...probably won't be back anytime soon. This used to be one of my favorite places

Yummy Juice Cafe is a Hong Kong style restaurant. This place is Chinese food. It's not a really clean place. But, the food is good. The thing I like about it is that the hours are pretty good. They open around 10 and they close very late in the evening. So if you are up and want a snack you can alway stop by. The Chinese desserts are great! They have specials and a happy hour! Come through those times the food is worth it! Good, cheap, not too clean place. Go for it! Happy Hour food items include a drink!

Wish i had places like this where i lived. When your a night owl or have friends that are, DENNYS, IHOP Etc. become old really quick. You can only take so many Grand Slams. Yummy's is a nice alternative with cheap and delicous snacks. They stay open late and always have a welcoming crowd. Most people that roll in naturally are asian but that should not deter you because its a friendly place. Tip: Try the egg puffs and fried tofu. Warning: Make sure that the fruit your ordering is in season other wise it might not be as sweet.

Great late night spot but very reasonable with prices! The hot plates come out sizzling and the food is delicious and fulfilling. Drinks and desserts are a must at this place, probably best for this part! The hot desserts are my favorite and the fruit bowl is humongous! Great place for friends or family with such sweet service.

OMG I went there today with my W Mutha....there was a fly buzzin' around our table...the service was slow...and worst of all my club sammich was supa greasy....and W Mutha peanut butta french toast was greasy as well.....Im not one to complain but I expect all restaurants to have at least one healthy alternative for those that arent into the grease thing or want to have carbs...i was actually looking for a salad of some sort....They shouldve at least offered a salad selection.....I know people don't go to a chinese cafe for a salad but u never know...i was totally disappointed and my stomach was in knots after eating some of the bread...no.....i didnt even try the meat...i was grossed out by the grease....I ended up at raleys to get a cookie to prevent me from throwing up...yesh it was that bad....Will not be going back.... :(

it is okay for the price and location. You can definitely find better places in the bay area that serve the same food. It helps if you can speak cantonese otherwise i would avoid. 4 stars for variety of food 3 for taste 2 for location and parking night mare = 3 star establishment

My friends and I have been here more than 20 plus times. We love this place. Great prices. Although, sometimes there might be a different chef and the food not as great. Other than that, its quite consistent.

Food: Best salt and pepper wings in the world (no exaggeration). Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, these wings are incredible. They also have a good variety of Chinese dishes, desserts and drinks. Patrons love their egg puffs (it's similar to a waffle). Price: Very reasonably priced for a Chinese restaurant. They also have lunch specials that run daily ($5.99) and "Happy Hour" specials. Service: Friendly people but not much service at all. They will give you a menu and hot tea, take your order and give you your food. Be prepared to raise your hand if you need anything. Wait time for food is reasonable. Misc: Located next door to a Round Tables Pizza and near McClatchy High school. Open very late. Can get busy at night and on weekends, but plenty of seating inside. They take cash and card (minimum $5 purchase). Conclusion: 4 stars for the food and price. You absolutely must try the salt and pepper chicken wings. This place would receive 5 stars if their service was better, but overall, I'm a fan.

The baked seafood rice here is good. When u come during the lunch specials the deals cannot be beat. I don't think i've ever tried anything here that was not good. The little egg pancake thingy ma jigs are the bomb, have it with some warm milk tea, it's outrageous. only down side the service suckkkkkks!

The food here is pretty weird. I can't say it was bad, but its something you could make at home. I'll put it this way... remember in college where you too poor to order pizza because you misappropriated too much money for alcohol? Neither do I because you can't spend too much for booze... hahaha... well kidding... maybe. Anyways, let's say you are too hungry to wait the 45 minutes for the pizza to get there and you open your fridge to see what you can cook. You have some marinara sauce, maybe even some noodles or rice, point being you have 2/3rds of the necessary ingredients to cook a real meal. Not to be discouraged, you start getting your mad scientist on and start throwing what you do have and put your on twist. Spam Marinara sauce over white rice? Sure... why not. You get the idea. Well thats what they do at Yummy Guide... except they get away with charging money for it. What a great idea! That said, the place is open pretty late, the prices are very very cheap, and the food tastes better than you think because you didn't have to do any work besides reaching into your pocket for some dough. I recommend at least one visit to gauge for yourself if it works for you, plus I they sell super cheap boba.

Yummy Juice/Yummy Guide... WHATEVER it's called. If you want some good Hong Kong style food, this is the place to go. I've gone here a few times in the morning and there are usually elderly Chinese people there getting breakfast. And if elderly Chinese people come here, it must be good food. For me though, I usually go here late nights since they open until 2pm. Me and my girl friend used to go here late nights for our girl talks over some egg puffs or ice cream waffles. Oh, and beware, the workers there are not good in English in anyway. And don't order the ham sandwich. A six year old can make that. It's just two slices of regular bread with a slice of ham without the crust.

This used to be my favorite place to go to until they changed owners a little while back. The food is just not the same anymore. :( For the same food, just go to Happy Valley Cafe down the street, one of the old cooks from Yummy Guide now co-owns Happy Valley Cafe now. Good thing about Yummy's is that they open very late, so you always have a Chinese food place to fall back on during those sleepless nights. Update (5/23/2009): The food is better overall now, I think they got a better chef.

This place is a little bit hard to find. I passed it the first few times I came here. The food is pretty good however the service was a little bit slow. A couple times I only buy one or two things to go and I would end up waiting over 15 minutes. It's not that I bought anything hard to make, it was egg puffs. The person making them had made my egg puffs already however she waited after she cleaned up the cast iron to give it to me and by that time it was already cold. so a little sad but still good. Though not as awesome as it should be.
