My sisters and I were in the area and decided to go to this place for breakfast since the place we wanted to go had burned down. I'm glad we got a chance to try this place out; the bagels were pretty good.

I'm so baffled why this place has good reviews. My family and I gave them a try to see if there was more out there than Noah's. It was around noon on a Sunday, and they had hardly any kinds of bagels left, which was what I expected, since it was late. We ordered three bagels and a coffee, all of which tasted horrible. These bagels are smaller than store bought bagels, and they all tasted stale. The cream cheese was thin and spread carelessly, so it was impossible to eat without making a mess. I was very disappointed with the quality of food and I will not be returning.

Best bagel sandwiches I've had in Cali ever! Was looking for a quick bite somewhere with Wi-Fi and found this place next to Liquidology. The bagel was perfect toasted, and the ham and swiss sandwich I got (Times Square) was well balanced with the mayo. I also appreciate the fact that there's Wi-Fi at this spot. The price is also reasonable for the sandwich.

I like Sacramento Bagel because: 1. They have Spinach Asiago Bagels (I like mine nicely toasted with cream cheese). 2. They have a punch card. I always enjoy a place where I can buy 8 items and get one free. They have a nice variety of bagels, sandwiches, and pastries to choose from, so you'll probably find something you'll enjoy. I have never had a problem here and there's usually a good number of people here buying bagel sandwiches and such. Plus, the staff is very nice and there's plenty of seating.

Its nice to still find a bagel shop that has some originality. I am a sucker for cream cheese with chives. I love that theres has huge pieces of chives in it. The bagels are fresh and sometimes still warm. I have tried a few of the bagel sandwiches as well. They are all very yummy and some times messy. I have even stopped in here a few times to get bagels to go to bring into my office. By request every asks for the chive cream cheese.

No, no, no, no, no. No. Nyet. Nien. Do not eat here. Sochi from 8/4/14 artfully describes a typical Sacto Bagel experience: the overpriced bagels are slightly better than Noah's, but customer service is among the worst in East Sacramento for any restaurant. The bagel clerks are rude, unfriendly, unhelpful, and generally unpleasant. They hate having to answer straight-forward questions. They actually seem to just hate people in general, because they're always like that. If the bagels were cheap and really tasty, the terrible service wouldn't be an issue. But they're not, and it's not. C'mon, man. It's East Sacramento. Normal Rockwell land. Know your clientele. Do a better job fitting into the neighborhood.

I love bagels and cream cheese, I mean that's classic breakfast for me. But this place really steps it up. We've tried quite a few bagels and spreads. There are some stars, such as the garlic and herb spread, very good. But I tried the sun dried tomato bagel and sun dried tomato spread and that was just too delicious and when I go back I know what I'm getting

After taking our order and paying did they tell us they ran out of eggs. It's a breakfast spot that doesn't know when they are out of eggs???! What came out were veggie bagels; these were decent but not great. Won't be back.

Hard to beat a breakfast bagel sandwich on a Saturday morning and Sacramento Bagel delivered. Only problem, they delivered us the wrong bagel in our to go order! And just our luck, being half awake we didn't check until we got home. Despite, the order being messed up, the bagels were still pretty good. Service could have been a little friendlier, especially considering it's early in the morning and the last thing I want to see is a grouch! All of this considered I still think we may have just hit them on an off morning - I'd try it out again, but this time you can bet I'll check my bag before I walk out the door.

Garlic & Herb spread! Lots of garlic and a whole lot of yum!!! I came in here in the morning to pick up a dozen random bagels for the office. The place was very clean and I was greeted with a pleasant smile. This was my first time here so I had no idea what I was doing. I told her that I'd like a dozen random bagels and she told me to just call them out! They have a very good variety of bagels along with fresh house-made spreads. Price was relatively decent and the bagels where fresh! If I'm in the area and would like to pick up a bunch of bagels for the office I'd probably come back here again.

This is the breakfast spot! My wife will be having our twins soon and Sacramento Bagel is right down the street from the hospital. I'm not looking forward to those early early first couple of morning. But I will be pretty happy to hit this place up and get another Sunrise Bagel. I never knew there were so many bagel and wrap possibilities at breakfast!

I want to support local businesses, and do so unless they are working on a compelling reason to do otherwise. A decade ago, these folks took over from Manhattan Bagel (a chain that was pretty good), and back then, they were great. Sadly, whether one measures quality, quantity, selection, or customer service, they no longer stack up with Starbucks, Noah's, or Panera. Darn it, I want to buy local! They store their bagels such that the bagels lose their freshness very quickly, they run out of many variety of bagels very early in the morning, their drink selection is mediocre (plenty of high-fructose corn syrup, but nothing for a chocoholic), and some of the staff appear to be very disinterested in their jobs. This morning was the last straw. When it was brought to the attention of the cashier that she had short-changed herself, see seemed annoyed rather than grateful. Then, despite the fact that we were eating there, our bagels were wrapped and bagged as if we had requested "to go." After eating, I asked where I could put the paper bag to be recycled, and the expressionless worker told me to throw it away. When I asked her why they don't have a bin for customers to place recycleables, she became hostile, and then refused to speak with me. The older guy (possibly a manager) was standing right there, and when I turned to him, his poor command of the English language suddenly left in its entirety. Lame! 10/13/14 Update: I have bumped them up to three stars because a couple of the women working there genuinely seem to want to be helpful. They have revamped their drinks collection such that it is no longer just a bunch of poisonous junk, and they now have a couple of things for someone in need of a chocolate fix. I'll keep buying their "day old" bagels, but I won't have a meal there until they became a bit less wasteful.

YUP! I've always been jealous of a bagel place near where my parents live, and I couldn't find a replacement... until now. I love everything about Sacramento Bagel. The texture and crunch on the outside of the bagels, the soft and chewy center, and the amazingly flavorful spreads lead to one heck of a breakfast treat. It's a little pricier than I'm used to for a bagel, but once I tasted things, I was 100% sold, price aside. The spread was so outlandishly good (garlic herb on mine) that I actually went back to try a plain bagel to make sure that the bagel itself was good too. Turns out it was great on it's own, too. I will be going here for all of my bagels and bagel accessories, no doubt.

I would give them no stars if I could. I went in today before heading to Vallejo to grab a quick breakfast. The cashier who took our order (fat girl) had no customer service skills at all. Last time that I'll be going there. If she's not happy with her job she needs to find a new one.

Based upon my coffee experience, it was just so-so. On my way to the nearby hospital to meet my new baby niece, I figured I should get a little pick me up before I would only be limited to hospital coffee. Not that hospital coffee is necessarily bad, but you know : ) So, this place was right on the route. Nothing intriguing about the exterior or interior of the building, Just an average little shop. All I needed was a soy latte which they were able to accompany me with. I ordered a small, soy latte with one extra add shot ( smalls only come with one shot which is never enough for me) Total came to $4 and some change. They have a $5.00 credit card minimum, with a 50 cent charge if under. I took the hit. Latte turned out ok. Soy was decent. Coffee had a slight bitter taste but not detrimental. Service was also decent. May just have to give it another shot : )

There's never a wait when I go (usually afternoonish) and they always have my bagel left (spinach or spinach asiago). Service is always prompt and courteous, and while they aren't overly friendly in that superficial fake way, they do their job with haste and dedication. It's so great to have such a nifty little bagel shop right around the corner!

Bagels with a side of hot mess... Every time I come here, I am in awe of how much of a mess the staff is, but the quality and taste always seems to be good. From simply ordering to paying, to the handoff, something is always awry. Don't even get me started on their annoying $0.50 charge for use of a CC if you don't hit their minimum of $5 purchase. If you've read any of my other reviews, you know this is a pet peeve, sorry, rant over! They have a great selection of bagels, smears, and other breakfast/lunch options. However, their staff always seems to not work cohesively. Something is always off and they always look lost. Bless their bagel slangin' hearts, it tastes good, but the process is tedious.

Excellent destination for this mornings bicycle ride! Clean, friendly, tasty and fresh. They didn't have all the flavor choices at 11am so was a little disappointed to not get an "everything" bagel. The multi grain was a good alternative. I had the Nova Lox sandwich and orange juice. Ready to ride back! Thank you

The bagels here are nothing special. It's a buck a bagel which isn't bad at all... until you realize that EVERYTHING costs extra! I think only toasting your bagel is complimentary. If you want your bagel toasted and buttered, it will be like 1.25 or so... if you want a cream cheese spread on it then you are looking at a $2+ bagel! I bought a small tub of cream cheese they sold and I wasn't even paying attention to the price but I think it was about $3... so if you have lots of bagels you want lathered up with cream cheese- I suggest you have them toast your bagels and buy a separate tub of cream cheese. I bought 6 bagels, 3 cups of coffee, and a small tub of flavored cream cheese for about $25. The bagels did not taste special to me and all the extra costs for everything makes it a very expensive bagel indeed!! Even the worker was telling me that the food here is expensive because they charge people too much for everything you add to the bagel! Do the math and you will see that I'm right. A small tub of cream cheese probably has enough for nearly a dozen bagels... but then it costs more than $1 for them to spread the cream cheese for you?? The bagels did not wow me like I was hoping... and the coffee tasted average to me also. Next time, I think I'll stick to my Panera bagels! Those never dissapoint me... and I can get it with butter without having to pay extra!

This place is close to my house so we are here frequently. I like the everything bagel with salmon cream cheese. The bagels are pretty average, but the service has always been good. I also like the hazelnut coffee.

I give the one star for the variety of bagels they have available, other than that I wouldn't care to come back here. It's just bagels. Sooo simple, you would think right? We live 2 blocks away, never came here, thought lets try it, why not? Walk in here, expressionless blank stare from the girl at the register. We order a latte and two #2 breakfast bagels; your choice of bagel. She rings it up, manager makes the bagels, girl makes the latte. As we are about to eat the bagel, boyfriend opens his and notices the entire top of bagel was scorched black and there was no egg in the breakfast bagel, only sausage ? Boyfriend is upset, couldn't eat his breakfast. Go back down to this place only 2 blocks away, so they are probably like "whoaa he came back within like 3 mins" The guy says, "that is how the bagel is supposed to be when you toast it. It gets burned....." Manager didn't even apologize or ask or have any care. All he said was "that's how it is". Amazing customer service right? My boyfriend picks a different bagel, they remake his sandwich, boyfriend asked " didn't I order the breakfast sand-which that has egg?" Girl at the register says no with a blank stare. We both agreed this is definitely a place we would not ever go back to nor recommend to anyone. I make better breakfast sandwiches at home, Thomas Bagels works just as well and I never burn it. I wish he hadn't taken the burnt sandwich back so fast I want to post a photo to show it. On top of the horrible experience with the poorest customer service and burned bagel, the latte ... tasted like the girl had put steamed milk in a cup of brewed coffee. Ughh.. same price as Starbucks, so a definite negative for this place. It's lucky to have business only due to the fact that its surrounded by this amazing residential neighborhood and a lot of people can just walk here.

The bagels are ok; pretty average for the west coast. I went in about 10:15 a.m. on a Monday (holiday), and the bagel choices were slim. There was either a morning rush or they just didn't make a lot of bagels that day. The service is incompetent, consistent with some of the other reviews here. I had a pretty simple order: lox sandwich on a sesame bagel, toasted, with scallion cream cheese. The employee was very confused, like he didn't understand that scallion cream cheese was a thing (despite it being one of their flavors). I think he thought I was asking for scallions. I asked for "everything" on it, then asked if "everything" meant lettuce, tomato, and onion. Instead of answering, he wrote that down as part of my order. Then he told me that "everything" is tomato, onion, and capers. I said I want that and he again seemed confused and had to throw away the piece of paper he was writing on and start over. I also ordered two other bagels (spinach and sundried tomato), specified that I wanted them "whole" so I could take them home and eat them later. After I paid, I noticed the woman who prepared the bagels was slicing the bagels I had ordered whole. Great, so now they will be stale by the time I want to eat them. I told her I didn't want them sliced, and she was hesitant to throw away the sliced ones and give me whole ones. She ended up only giving me a whole spinach because the sliced sundried tomato was the last bagel of that flavor. I ended up throwing it out because it got stale within an hour. The lox sandwich was pretty good, but not because of the bagel. Lox is just delicious. I don't think I'll be going back here. Sac really needs a decent bagel place.

Yeah, it' s about 3 stars good. The food is good and the atmosphere is nice. Still -- worth checkin out if you live in the neighborhood, it's nicer than it looks.

I thought it was impossible to find a bagel in Sacramento like those in the NJ/NY area. Some people know this and others don't. Authentic bagels are boiled before being baked. Most bagel places simply bake the dough and call it a day. If you don't think it's a big deal, imagine how you would feel if somebody chose to bake donuts instead of frying them. Think they'd taste the same? Nope. Maybe they would be similar, but not the same. It's the same deal with bagels. There is a big difference between boiled and non boiled bagels. I went to Sacramento bagel today. Now, the bagels weren't identical to what I can get on the East coast, but it's 100 times better than what you can get at a Noah's. If Sacramento Bagel isn't boiling their bagels, they fooled me. Again, really good. The only knock I have to give them is that the guy putting the cream cheese on the bagels was in the midst of making my bagel when a bell dinged. He then switched to another order and finished that, before going back to mine. The order he switched to was an order with lox. As somebody who hates fish,I was nervous that the flavor would cross. My fears were realized, but on one of my last bites, I took a quick swig of coffee and I was ok. Note to chef...don't touch fish and other food.

Wonderful and fabulous spot! I brought my mom here who is from New York and she loves the place said it is just like home. We come here weekly for lox and bagels and are never disappointed!

I will never be back to this place again. Aside from the bagels not being cooked in house, the eggs and bacon being cooked by shoving in a microwave and pressing "Start", this place also has the worst customer service! They are very cold, no smiles ever and move slow and make mistakes. Gave our food to the wrong person and we didn't get so much as a sorry. Off to Noah's next time.

Came here a week ago and had a breakfast bagel. It was okay, nothing fancy. It had bacon, egg and cheese. The line wasn't too long and the menu had a few items on it that I would like to go back and try.

I was first drawn to this place after realizing the restaurant where we initially wanted to have brunch at down the street was closed, so we resorted to bagels. My fiancé & I are big on garlic so we decided to try the toasted garlic bagel topped with strawberry cream cheese. It was absolutely delish! My fiancé does NOT like cream cheese at all, but after trying their famous strawberry cream cheese, he fell in love! :) The onion bagel is also phenomenal. They have a variety of flavored bagels & cream cheese as well as muffins. We are still awaiting for blueberry cream cheese... hopefully one of these days they'll have 'em! Location is in a residential area - outskirts of downtown. It's convenient for locals in the area to grab breakfast on-the-go. Limited parking is available on the side of the shop; you'll most likely find yourself parking in the neighborhoods.

Bagels are OK, but you have to always check your order. They have a tendency of messing it up, specially if you are ordering more then two bagels.

I come here a couple times a year. The scallion cream cheese is probably their signature item. Their bagels are pretty delicious and consistent. I must never make it in early enough to get the popular bagels though. I wished they made enough so that once lunch time comes around that we can enjoy them too. Service is probably one of the least favorite things that I like about this place. The staff is pretty soul-less and usually don't listen terribly well. Though, they are nice at least. It would be pretty cool if they did more cold bagel sandwiches and something with avocado and/or cranberry. Maybe they do, just not on their menu. Otherwise, I'm a fan.

I needed to visit a new potentially large client and decided to bring in a dozen of bagels with cream cheese. Sacramento Bagel is located in a residential area, which was odd but they had convenient parking. The young lady that helped me was super friendly and even cut all my bagels in half. I also bought two different cream cheese products which looked freshly made. Sacramento Bagel is a popular place BC they had customers dinning in and many patrons coming and going. I didn't try any bagels but but was pleased with the service.

The bagels are pretty good but the owner and some of the people that work here are not very smart. They don't listen when you tell them what you want or how you want it. They look at you like you are asking for something unreasonable or unavailable. I would visit much more often if they had better customer service...some of the girls are very nice, I'm talking about the owner and his family employees.

This is a great little east Sacramento breakfast spot. The staff are really friendly, the service is fast, the bagels are good and reasonably priced, and they serve pearless coffee. They offer a few different breakfast sandwiches, my personal favorite being the sunrise. Pick your bagel, cheese, and meat, combine it with eggs onion and tomato...and you've got a quick tasty breakfast sandwich that won't leave you sweating and hating life two hours later (coughcough McDonald's).

Wholeheartedly believe in Small Business Saturday and am making every attempt to support it today, but Small Business didn't support itself. Epic fail East Sac Bagel. We were regrettably forced to patronize Noah's instead. It's sad because this place used to our favorite spot on the weekends to get some bagels and coffee. Simple, local, unpretentious. But recently, more often than not, they run out of their most popular items WAY to early. Example, today, 10am, they were out of 1/3 of the their varietals of bagels, all of the most popular (Everything, Sesame, etc.). They are open from 6am - 2pm, so this means they ran out in less than they half of their scheduled hours. This is simply mismanagement of inventory and on top of that, this issue has been brought to their attention at least a half dozen times and they simply don't seem to care.. Shouldn't a business's primary concern be to provide their customers with the product they want? And care about your satisfaction? Especially if you are a breakfast spot? Talk about getting your day started off poorly. What could be worse than being forced to eat a boring whole wheat flaxseed bagel when you rolled out of bed with your heart set on an Everything, Sesame, Asiago or something delicious? Sorry East Sac Bagel, we gave you enough chances, or to be let down consistently, we won't be back.

New York "style" bagels which is hard to find in Sacramento after the closure of nearby New York Bagel Boys. Really nice flavored cream cheese, not the air filled fluffy kind, the real deal with great mixins that taste great. The have great breakfast bagels and sandwiches and a really nice selection of bagels to meet everyones needs sweet to savory to specialty. There seems to be a "everyday" crowd which is endearing and fun if you have time to sit and listen to the neighboorhood chatter. They have nice outdoor seating. There is a great community bulletin boad towards the back, everytime I go in there I see another event or service I grab from the board. Service is very nice with a smile.

Nestled in the middle of East Sacramento, Sacramento Bagel is one of the last remaining non-franchised bagel places in Sacramento. After New York Bagel Boys shut down, I went into a deep bagel-less depression and yearned for a quality bagel. I had been to Sacramento Bagel when it was Manhattan Bagel and never quite liked their bagels but I was desperate. The layout, ambiance, and staff are very similar to NY Bagel Boys. I got a breakfast bagel with no meat- just cheese and egg and was very surprised. While Sacramento Bagel definitely is not as good as NY BB, they definitely have quality bagels (and breakfast bagels) and are close to the house, which is a definite plus. Mornings are obviously busy but if you call in your order before you get there, you can get in and out a lot faster.

I have driven past this place a 100 times and either wasn't hungry or it was closed. So on Saturday morning I decided to stop in after my run. I ordered the jalapeño cheese bagel and a small coffee and maybe it's just me but $4.67 seemed a bit high. The bagel was good but they put way too much cream cheese. I scrapped more than half of it off , on each slice. Then they were all out of coffee so I had to either wait until a new pot was brewed or settle for hazelnut. I settled for hazelnut. Basically the bagel was ok and I won't be back.

Nothing fancy to write home about, just a place to grab some bagels on a Saturday morning. Small spot in a nice, quiet neighborhood with friendly staff and fair prices. Great place to relax, read the paper and mingle with some neighbors over of cup of hot coffee.

  • Justin F.

The bagels are really good, probably on par with Noahs and better than anything you get at Starbucks or any other place that doesn't specialize in Bagels. The sandwiches are really good too and always has a cool local vibe in there. Their flavored coffee is really good too.

The best banana muffin I have ever eaten. just use my last Groupon so happy that they're all gone. the bagels here are good not great but the muffins are really good. the young girl who helped was not knowledgeable of their products or friendly. I do understand that it is early in the morning when most people go in for bagels or muffins but you could be a little more pleasant. Using a Groupon here was a nightmare. If not for the rude service I would return and buy muffins but I do not intend to give my money to this business again.

The staff is really great and the food is good even if just a bit over priced for a bagel! I do wish they would dress up the place a bit more but I know it's a small business.

I despise bagels that come in a bag. I am always looking for a place with good, fresh bagels. This is one of those places. I tend to stick to the savory bagels, all of which I have enjoyed from here. The kids like the sweet bagels and so far no complaints out of the. The flavor cream cheeses are excellent. They are pretty dense and not fluffy and full of air like some other bagel chain who shall remain nameless. This is on the the corner of a residential area so parking can be a little sticky when they are busy. Great place to go on a Saturday morning and get a fresh bagel.

I've been slacking on posting reviews lately, but Sacramento Bagel is simply too good to not post! I am an absolute bagel snob and was much-chagrined when I had to leave my trusty SF bagel spots (what up, House of Bagels!) when I moved to Sacramento. I've never liked Noah's bagels and I immediately ventured out to look for a new place to fulfill my Saturday morning bagel fix. Sacramento Bagel quickly became that place. The bagels are delicious, the cream cheese is actually one of their best assets (try the honey walnut) and the service is fantastic. I've brought a few people here now and they all have had positive things to say. In short: this is the best bagel I've had in Sacramento so far.

stopped in for a bagel sammich on a Saturday morning. Ordered the Sunrise bagel (egg, cheese, tomato, onion) Bacon & Swiss on an Asiago bagel. It was rather tasty. My fiance ordered a Sesame seed, egg/sausage/cheddar... it was piping hot and just what we were looking for. I will be back, as I now have a punchcard for bagel and cream cheese! Kind of excited to try their lunch sandwiches. Oh an did I mention that the veggie spread is fantastic??? homemade with chunks of FRESH red/green/yellow bell peppers and chives (not that salty, processed, dried-flecks of veggie cream cheese you find in the grocery market). I'll be back for the fresh veggie spread alone!

How have I not reviewed sacramento bagel yet?! Favorite place for bagels! I've literally been going here for years. They have a great variety of bagels and cream cheese and also sandwiches that are amazing! Good prices too. Way better than noah's bagels or any other bagel place in sac!

I bought a chocolate chip bagel and a banana nut muffin. The bagel was hard as a rock and tasted a little bit like it came from a bag and that muffin. Good Lord .. NO. It was made with banana flavored SYRUP. And they didn't even blend the batter all the way so i got a layer of flour and a layer of syrup and then a stale walnut. I took 2 bites of that thing and chucked it. Absolutely DISGUSTING!

Just went there for the first time. Bought a Groupon a while ago and it expires next week.... Wanted to buy bagels and spreads for my co-workers, but even though the Groupon is good for $28, they only let you use $7 of it at a time (part of the problem is the way Groupon allowed Sac Bagels to offer this deal). But the young gals who were working were less than 'helpful'. I said it was my first time there and I had a Groupon, but they let me order up a bunch of stuff and then at the cash register told me I could only use $7.... Why didn't they mention it earlier? So I didn't but the 1.5 dozen bagels I had selected and I only got two, along with the breakfast sandwich. Unfortunately, it wasn't very good - I've had much better at Old Soul and Mangia in midtown. So after paying my $.78 (over $7) I turned to the young family next to me and asked if they wanted $7 in food - they were very appreciative even though their bill was only $4.50 - so Sac Bagel cheated me out of $2.50 when I tried to offer the remainder to someone else in line. They said I could only use one. So to the owners of Sacramento Bagel - you may want to rethink how you offer Groupons. I still have two $7 Groupons I have to use before next Thursday - on two separate trips... Likely won't happen since it's not in a convenient location for me. And I'm not going to rush there for the food since my sandwich was not good. Guess I need to stop buying Groupons to try new places unless it's a fantastic deal.

Yummy yum yum onion and garlic bagels! So delicious. I'm just a toast'em and butter'em type of gal. No cream cheese for me. Prices are decent here. Hate the $5 minimum for credit card use. Have had their hot chocolate and it's ok. Usually have to add it to the order (ok make it 2 hot choc's) to reach the minimum amount to use my card. I never have cash. Oh well. Awesome location! Love the outdoor seating. This place is a keeper. I make sure I take a few breath mints with me since I love the most breath offensive flavors! hahaha

New favorite bagel spot! Yum!! Great bagel shops are a rarity, glad I have one in my own neighborhood!

I thought it was impossible to find a bagel as good as what I remember when I lived in Los Angeles years ago in a predominately Jewish district. Oh these were the best and I've not found anything close since. Sacramento Bagel while not as great as what I remember truly is the closest to what I remember. I think they boil their bagels before baking them which is the authentic way of making a real true bagel (or at least the ones I loved). Of course they will charge extra to toast and put a schmear on your bagel. Who doesn't! I like some of their spreads but I find it's cheaper to make my own. A favorite is putting some drained well crushed pineapple in plain cream cheese (room temp) along with some toasted coconut and a tsp or so of honey. Yummmm! I rated them 4 stars because the bagels are that good. I never take customer service into account if the food is good, but I must add that some of the gals that work behind the counter could be a tad more friendly. Is it me, or do stores hate it when people pull out their Groupon? I've sensed that in the past at other places. The coffee here is less than special. I pick my bagels up here and then run by Chocolate Fish for some real good coffee to enjoy with my bagel! This bagel place by the way is sort of in a neighborhood. It feels like a weird place for a bagel shop. I'm sure the homeowners right there don't like it much, unless they like a quick walk to get a good bagel!

I love this place. They have such a variety of bagel and cream cheese flavors. They are open 6am-3pm, great for breakfast on my way to work, but sadly I dont get off in time to stop for a bagel sandwich. When I went I ordered an orange cranberry bagel. I was a little skeptical about the flavor combo but I love trying new things. It was great, not an overwhelming flavor of orange, but just a hint. There was whole cranberries throughout the soft bagel. I wanted blueberry cream cheese but sadly the lady told me they have discontinued it, so i just ordered plain cream cheese, and they did not skimp on the cream cheese. My mother ordered a cinnamon raisin bagel with strawberry cream cheese. The strawberry cream cheese was amazing! It tasted like they just spread fresh strawberries right on the bagel. Id love to try the garlic bagel with scallion cream cheese next time :) one thing I dont understand is how the bagels cost 99 cents, but ask them to toast it and put cream cheese on it, the bagel suddenly costs 2.65. so almost two bucks for them to toast it and add cream cheese...seems over the top to me. but i still plan on going back

Perfect place for a morning bagel sandwich or lunch salad and sandwich. They also have a vast assortment of fresh baked bagels and muffins. The warm chewy bagels pair well with one of their spreads. Prices are great 3-4 dollars for a sandwich.

I stopped in here for a breakfast bagel sandwich and coffee after a nice bike ride on the American River Trail. I must've been pretty lucky, because it was just after noon, and there were still a variety of bagels to choose from! There was also no waiting, so I got served right away. I guess timing is everything. I had an egg and turkey toasted onion bagel sandwich for $3.15. With a small 12 oz coffee, the total was $5.01 for a nice, filling carb and protein-rich breakfast. The bagel was good. If I hadn't been on a bike, i would've bought a bag to take home to store in the freezer. This place was nice and laid back. I remember when the space used to house Womble's Pharmacy years ago. I like that they have a sturdy bike rack out front for cycling customers. More places need to have good bike racks available!

The bagels are good. I got the cream cheese and Smoked Salmon bagel. It had too many red onions and WAY TOO MUCH cream cheese!!!! I kinda wanted to puke.

Fresh yummy, soft and slightly chewy bagels. Just the way I like them! Nice veggie cream cheese... a tad heavy on the salt but chunks of veggies in it. Would probably order plain next time... Also wish they had more sweet bagels (my favorite bagel shop had a Cinnamon Sugar bagel that was amazing with strawberry cream cheese on days when I wanted something sweet). But the strawberry cream cheese on the oat bagel is also delicious...easy to find, not too crowded, tons of parking, and nice clientele. Also has a nice variety of drinks including coconut water! Lost 1 star because sometimes it smells funny, like burnt (badly burnt) bread... maybe the toaster needs to be cleaned out? Also may want to amp up the flavors of the cream cheese... I've gone places with delicious blueberry cream cheese and such! Best part: outdoor tables for people to bring the pups for a yummy quick breakfast!

My girlfriends and I go in here all the time because it's close to where we study. The bagels are great, and they make these bagel sandwiches that my friend is obsessed with. I love their coffee. For repeat customers, you can grab their coffee cards or bagel cards or juice cards or whatever, and for each you buy you get a stamp and after so many you get a freebie. I've enjoyed 2 free coffees and 1 free bagel. Check them out!

Being from Stockton, I'm not very familiar with East Sacramento. However, my son is a patient at Sutter Memorial down the street, so over the past year I have truly fallen in love with this lovely neighborhood. I always drove past Sacramento Bagel, looking at the clock, wishing I had left my home 15 minutes earlier. Then one day: it happened! I somehow drove by and realized we still had 30 minutes till our check in time- so in we went. I've recently been quite into bagels- so my taste buds were amped and my yelp switch was turned up full force in my brain. I was ready for action! I ordered a garlic bagel - with a veggie cc. Also a coffee for me, Juice for my boy. Not a bad price, not a bad flavor. The garlic bagel could have had more intensity to it, but it wasn't bad. I like texture to my food, this was the one area the meal was lacking. Coffee was fine, strong. Service was friendly & quick. Definitely a place I'll be visiting again on our future visits.

Why is it so hard to get a good bagel in California. I guess if you have never had a real NY bagel you don't know any better. This place is okay. Their lox sandwich was okay. Their shmears are okay. At least it's an alternative to the McDonald bagels you get at Noahs.

This place is the best! The staff are the sweetest people--they always try to learn your name quickly and greet you. Somehow they remember orders even when crowded on weekends. Bagels are excellent! Especially the Sunrise breakfast bagel...oh god, this is making my stomach rumble. Bagels are soft on the inside and smooth on the outside. The only problem is that they are so good fresh each day, they don't hold up well if you buy day-olds.

Bagel Shop bagels. Very good, wish they had Bialy's and didn't use whipped cream cheese on toasted bagels. When I go to eat it, the CC is melted all over the place - and off the bagel...lol - so I order it untoasted. Friendly servers, but the system isn't working well. One person during the morning rush to take orders slows things up. Sometimes the 2 people prepping are just standing there while one person is taking orders for 5 or 6 people waiting. I have walked out, but I always return - so what does that tell you?

My girlfriend just returned from there. We have guests in town and thought bagels and coffee would be a nice morning breakfast. Well, she returned with 6 untoasted bagels because the girl working said it would take too long to toast 6 bagels. According to who? We just moved and don't have a toaster yet which is why we went there and she refused to toast our bagels. Luckily, my mild mannered girlfriend picked them up and not me because I would have tossed these cold bagels in her face and walked out. Thanks for absolutely nothing.

Love this little neighborhood gem. Great bagel sandwiches and wraps. Staff are very friendly, too. But, I do worry about their practice of repeatedly microwaving eggs (for the sandwiches and wraps) in a plastic bowl. Can't be good to have the chemicals in the plastic leaching into hot foods. It would be so easy to use a glass bowl instead. Mentioned this to the manager but haven't seen a change yet. Maybe I'll try contacting the owner next.

Meh. Yeh, that bout sums it up. I'm going to try again soon for confirmation, but for now, it looks like yet another addition to the list of bagel-making mediocrities in the city of Sac. Argh, Ive tried twice now to return, only to find the place closed during what should be regular business hours. Whatever! Screw it, Im not going back.

For the record, I loved Manhattan Bagel. And while the bagels didn't change after Manhattan Bagel became Sacramento Bagel, my feelings for the place did. In past years, I'd drive from Curtis Park to East Sacramento anticipating an awesome Manhattan Bagel experience. No more. Manhattan Bagel had an energy about it, a lively crowd, great aromas near the front counter and welcoming faces behind it. Perhaps Sacramento Bagel needs to direct the smell of freshly-brewed coffee and newly-made bagels into the seating area. Maybe they need to play music or employ a "background chatter" soundtrack. Could they vent away the steam from the bagel boilers so that everything doesn't feel so humid/wet in the store - including the paper to-go bags? Damn you Sacramento Bagel; just thinking of you makes me want one of your delicious bagels. Instead, I'm headed to River City Bagels or Espresso Metro for a River City bagel - anything other than Noah's. And to you Noah's, you sold out and lost your New York credentials. You are nothing more than a roll with a hole! I'm also pissed that you dropped Dr. Brown's Cel-Rey soda from your cold case.

Meh. Ok for basic bagels and cc. Don't order a sammie. I made that mistake. Corned beef does equal dried up tire jerky. I asked for rye over the phone, they said ok, turns out they don't have rye...so they put it on a Wonder Bread knock off. Stick to bagels if you hit this place up.

I stop in here once in a while on my way to work but each time I threaten not to go back because of the nightmare wait time but I like the bagels and it's an independently owned local business so I easily talk myself into going back. My favorite bagel here is the whole wheat but I also like the whole grain which I think is just whole wheat with oatmeal. They put on way too much cream cheese even when I tell them to go easy so I ask for light plain on the side. I sometimes get a caf au lait made with their hazelnut coffee which is really good. They also sell bags of day old bagels which looks like a good deal. They have a large dining room with lots of seating as well as outdoor seating when it's sunny. The wait does suck but they carry the Hornet, the SN&R and since they are in East Sac they carry the monthly East Sac news so I feel like I'm multitasking!

So I'm a bit of a bagel snob because I've been spoiled my whole life with SO many delicious bagel shops in San Francisco. Sacramento Bagel had big shoes to fill that morning. First good sign: there was at least a half dozen people sitting there eating lunch at noon on a Monday. I think to myself, these must be good bagels or people with bad taste. I'm hoping for the first. Of course, I don't just want a plain bagel with cream cheese. ( (Sidenote: A sorry shout out to the Sacramento Bagel employee who got stuck helping me.) I've been craving a bagel with hummus loaded up with veggies all weekend but I cant seem to see anywhere on the menu that says bagel toppings. They have a menu of wraps (that sound delicious) and a menu of sandwiches (also sounding delicious). I explain to the girl that I was hoping to have bagel with a lot of veggies but I cant find that on the menu. And I also wanted hummus but I cant find that on the menu. And I wanted cucumber but I don't see that on the menu. Basically, I'm a mess that cant find anything I want on the menu. She smiles and tells me to let her know exactly what I'd want on it and she'll make it work. This is FANTASTIC news. I dont know what magic fairy dust they have back there behind the counter but POOF she returns with THE most delicious bagel. It was EXACTLY what I had been craving! I had an everything bagel (toasted to perfection) spread with the unbelievable garlic hummus with lettuce, tomato, onion and cucumber. She must have added on a dash of heaven free of charge. My only regret? Taking my first bite at home. If I had know how delicious the bagels were I would have brought home a dozen and bought some of the hummus that they sell! I'll definitely be making a stop next time I'm up in the area!

I hate to be one of those old ladies complaining about how things used to be, but...... I've been frequenting this location for a little over six years now. It used to be a franchise called "Manhattan Bagel". I'm all for small businesses and I've happily make it a point to support them, but unfortunately this place has been spiraling downhill ever since it became "Sacramento Bagel." I was able to look past the choppy service, sloppy menu board, and regularly dirty tables... but then, when they switched the tuna from albacore to light just to save a couple of bucks I became one of those old ladies. Luckily, their lox, cream cheese, tomatoes, capers, and red onion bagel (Bronx Bomber) continues to satisfy my bagel cravings and they are my local bagelry and I do need me some bagels, so I keep coming back. The bagels themselves are the quality you'd hope to find in a real bagel; relatively small, hard outside crust and a dense, chewy inside. Recommendation ~ check out Sacramento Bagel, but skip the tuna.

i love me a good bagel. i came in here with my dude and our friend for a late breakfast. for it being 11am, they still had almost every flavor of bagel (!) i even scoped out some goodies in the case that looked pretty good (my heart beats for chocolate croissants) the bagel tasted fresh and the cream cheese was a nice compliment. The place automatically gets extra points from me because they had nutella on the counter! nutella, how i love you!!! reasonably priced and the staff was polite and quick to wait on us. i'll be back!

Now my initial reaction to Sacramento Bagel was great. I had used my check card to pay for my breakfast and it came out to be $2.89. I just checked my bank statement online and found out they charged me $12.89 for a single bagel. I will not be going back to Sacramento Bagel.

this place is very good if you want a cheap and delicious breakfast/lunch to go. the bagels itself are nothing special really, but the bagel sandwiches are yum :O) and the people there are really nice.

I agree with others that this place was better as Manhattan Bagels but the food is pretty much the same. The service is just slower and not as friendly. The Chelsea Chicken sandwich is what keeps me coming back. I love their Asiago cheese bagels so I usually get it on that. It has a "grilled" chicken breast with roasted tomato sauce, roasted red peppers and jack cheese on it. It's pretty tasty but the last time I got it the chicken almost tasted processed? I've only been here at lunch time so I can't speak of the morning wait but at lunch they aren't ever really that busy but it seems to take a while.

I love the bagels here and the friendly service. My favorite is the spinach parmesan toasted with scallion cream cheesed. I've also tried a few sandwiches and they are delicious. The texture and size of the bagels are just right for my taste!

Are you looking for a really good bagel? Keep looking. Now I may be a snob, but these bagels are very ordinary. Sorry folks. (and this is minor, but they seem to have issues with spelling...) :)

I've always had good service here, but I think I usually go later in the morning. I absolutely love there breakfast bagels! Super yummy. The bagels themselves are really delicious, but the selection is very depleted by late morning.

One day I picked up a lox bagel on my way to Sac State. It was tasty, and the cream cheese had real lox pieces. The cream cheese was fresh and I think they make it themselves (on the tubs they sell there is a short expiration date). However, I wish the lox had more of the smoky salmon taste.

My bagel is in the toaster before I even get to the door! So, not only are the bagels delish but they have my order memorized and they get going when they see me park my car--wow!
